Subscribe to RSSTAMPA, Fla. -- Republican leaders pushed through contentious changes to delegate rules over the objection of conservatives and supporters of Texas Rep. Ron Paul.
Loud boos erupted Tuesday on the floor of the Republican National Convention as RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, ruled that a voice vote was sufficient to approve credentialing rules for delegates at future conventions.

Chants that sounded like "Seat them now!" did battle with chants of "U-S-A" from supportive delegates seeking to shout the protestors down.
The rules change essentially tightens party control over the manner in which delegates are allocated and bound to candidates.
A delegate rule change by RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and House Speaker John Boehner was approved despite the vocal objections of conservatives and supporters of Texas Rep. Ron Paul at the Republican National Convention.
The proposal prompted frustration from some supporters of Paul, whose campaign was able to appeal to the somewhat arcane rules of delegate allocation to win a majority of four states' delegations, despite having failed to win a single nominating contest.
Other conservatives -- including 2008 vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin -- had protested the move as a power play to shut out grassroots conservatives.
As Priebus and Boehner brought up the controversial rules change for a voice vote, supporters replied with loud "ayes," and almost equally vocal "noes."
When Boehner determined, in his capacity as the convention's permanent chairman, that the ayes had won it, cheers and boos mixed together in the convention hall.

I plan on voting for a third party if available. romney is a liberal in disquise. You hit the nail on the head. I don't like this type of top down rule. He is old republican. Don't care either way who wins cause it will be business as usual. Romney has backed away from about 90% of his agenda he carried on in the primary. Now, he is just smashing obama and hoping that is enough to make peoplle want to throw up on both sides. I probably will vote for obama and a republican congress just so they can fight like cats and dogs so they shut this worthless government down for awhile.

Boehner's an idiot and needs to go. Especially when he went off this week spouting that he would work with Obama if he's elected. He's a rhino the way a lot of the old school Republicans are - thank God Lugar is gone. Maybe in the next four years a lot more of these diehards will be voted out as well. The big picture however for all the Republicans and here's where they unite - OBAMA HAS TO GO!

Romney had the most money going in. American voters are bought and paid for. Very little thinking goes on anymore inside the average americans head. So its easy to pound a few percentages of voters with the right amount of cash to get these folks to change sides. . Real ideas or integrity don't matter one iota. Ron Paul has had a tremendous positive influence on the conversation regarding American law and liberty, on war and the FED and the role of the federal government and spoke truth to lies in every debate. Now the choice is Bad against Bad for America. It will take the repercussions of that for the truth to finally be recognized. In the meantime, brace yourselves for more wars and more financial chaos. It really doesn't matter if you want to back the ship up and hit the iceberg again or change up the passenger list first.
I disagree jolly. Romney was far from my first choice, but the differences in philosophy between him and Obama are as wide as can be. If we do wind up with both houses as it's looking like we will, there will be major changes. If if doesn't happen, he'll be gone in 2016.
If the people would check out boehner,as for him shutting the money door for obuma,not happening. for the ayes and/or nays, strickley for his convienence. Great party platform they have also - it was approved this afternoon - no abortion for ANY reason. Vouchers instead of Medicare. Social Security changes (sorry Grandma and Grandpa - guess you'll have to move in with your kids or granskids if any of them can take you in). Say goodbye to clean air also - the EPA will be rolled back. But I'm sure you will all love paying the 1% more by way of your taxes as they pay less and less.

I have been saying for the last 22 year that we should have a "None of the above vote of the ballot" and now is the time. Either vote for "None of the Above" or just vote for the most acceptable of either party who is not an combatant.
