Jeb Bush on White House run: 'I'm not there yet in my life'

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush said the 2012 election would have been a good time for him to run politically, but he personally is not ready to have made a run for office.

TAMPA, Fla. – Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Sunday that he’s “not motivated” to seek the White House and follow in the footsteps of his presidential brother and father.

Bush, whom many Republicans had implored to run for president this year, acknowledged on “Meet the Press” that 2012 would have offered a prime opportunity for him to seek the Republican presidential nomination.

But Bush, who had been scheduled to speak here on Monday night of the Republican National Convention before weather forced the cancelation of that day’s activities, would not rule out a future run for president, though he did not seem eager to do so.

“I don't think about it. I'm not motivated by it. It takes an incredible amount of discipline and ambition,” Bush told moderator David Gregory.

“I'm not there yet in my life,” the former Florida governor added.

Jeb Bush’s father, George H.W. Bush, served as president of the United States from 1989-1993, and his brother, George W. Bush, served as president from 2001-2009.

I don't think about it. I'm not motivated by it.

Sounds dangerously close to his bro George when talking about Osama Bin Laden....sounds like the whole Bush crew doesn't 'like to think about' things......

I think it is pretty telling when the sitting President who has been dealing with the Bush recession for 3 1/2 years stills polls much higher in popularity than the President from 4 years ago that has been out of the limelight this entire time.

The reason why Jebby isn't "there yet" in his life is he knows the Bush name is still toxic....and it should be.

Obama polls higher?I've never been polled in my 61 years as a U.S. citizen on any political subject.Polls are inaccurate at best.Need I say more about polls.I'm thankful that Obama doesn't have any brothers to run after he's through destroying what's left of this country.

An intelligent decision by Jeb because there are so many haters lingering after his brother's term.

It's too bad, because Jeb Bush is an excellent and thoughtful leader.

Dear race....buy the Obama bridge. He is running this country into the ground. No leadership, nothing accomplished. He will be like O'Malley here in Md. Started with taxing over $250k and now it has moved to $100k. . Obama will come for you too so he can give it to those who refuse to work and the illegals.

If, by some nightmare scenario he did run, and win, I would leave America and retire somewhere else. This country can't take another Bush. As it is, we may never recover from W.

Hell, son, after the "performances" put on by your father and brother, you won't be there in Methuselah's lifetime.

Oh good grief!! JUST what we need. ANOTHER bush in the WH. Remember, Jeb Bush holds the SAME views as his brother. He's a subscriber to the idea of "starve the beast"!! Cutting taxes then spending a lot to create debt. He also figured VERY prominently in the run up to the war in Iraq. He was a founding member of the Project for a New AMERICA-- AKA PNAC--- and was VERY prominent on that neoconservative website. He is every bit as dangerous to the country as his brother, and the current GOP!

I doubt (HOPE) that the country will EVER elect another Bush as president. Almost $8T in debt is quite enough, thank you very much!

      Obama debt. Bought the koolaide?

        #85.1 - Sun Aug 26, 2012 8:41 PM EDT

Again, all we have to do is look at the public records:

The government fiscal year runs from October to October so the majority of the first year of any president's term is always set by the previous president. Bush's first budget started Oct, 2000 and ended Oct, 2001. By the same reasoning, his last budget started in Oct, 2008 and ran to Oct, 2009. The following debt numbers are for government fiscal years.

        2001 debt = $5.8T

        2009 debt = $11.9T

That's an increase of $6.1T. Bush more than doubled our national debt in 8 years!

Current debt = $15.5T. Obama has added $3.6T.

        No koolaide... just facts.

        EE

Dont forget almost 40% of the 3.6 trillion is for payments tied to the old debt...he in effect only accumulated 2.1 trillion.

        787 billion was the stimulus.

In effect the lowest increase in debt over the last ten years.

But lulu go ahead and blame President Obama anyway....just shows that you are uniformed.

You are the one buying it and are uninformed. Unemployment rose in 44 states last month. Obama has no real plan to fix anything other than create more government jobs that we all have to pay for. Take a look at MD run by an Obama disciple. More taxes, more fees, no new business, the millionaires who were supposed to be taxed have left. Still spending and their major focus is to bring more gambling into the state.

          #85.4 - Mon Aug 27, 2012 10:40 AM EDT

He's had a lot of plans, and they keep getting blocked by the GOP. He tried to pass a law, Lulu, where you would get the same pay as a man for doing the same job - and they blocked it. He tried to pass a law where companies would get incentives for bringing jobs BACK to America, and the GOP blocked it. The GOP cares nothing about the bulk of this country; only the very rich and their bottom lines. GOP mantra: make Obama fail. Not: make America succeed.

I'm hoping that Mr. Jeb Bush never reaches the point in his life where he feels the need to run for president. The loser from the hanging chad state is not presidential material even in this day and age.

He was a worthless Governor and would be an even more worthless President, when is this country going to understand that voting for The Grand Oppressive Party is another death sentence? The GOP is a Terrorist organization that will destroy us with their archaic false religion and hate.

We are all doing it again, fingerpointing. Both parties are doing the same thing and we all know it. The only thing we should be doing is to bring back "The Glass Steagall Act"!

With the technology we have today,we really should be telling the government what to do not the other way around.

I tried to comment on this idiotic post and it took me 5 minutes to keep calling up the website and seeing this photo of this poor mans genetic failures keep flying past up and down again, then up, then down, then up! Folks, it wasn't Georg Bush's fault, or Little Geor Bush' fault. The president of the United States has no power to do anything. He get's a little retirement fund (About 200,000 a year in speaking engagements) and the rest of the time, he is just there. He is manipulated like a funny little puppet. Just like Kermit the Frog from Sesame Street. It doesn't matter if he is a black man pretending to one day make all your dreams come true or if he seems to be the evil white master who you are told has been keeping you down for 200 years. The president has NO POWER. You can vote for one, let's say you vote for THIS one, or you can vote for the OTHER one. Whichever one wins screws you, your family, your grandparents, and your grandkids before you wither away and die.

And you never will be ready because you make stupid statement like "Obama's policies have failed". It will take more than four years to dig a country out of the mess your brother made of it. Not to mention the treason and obstruction being perpetrated on the country by the Gaseous Old Pharts. By the way Jeb, you are one. I used to think you had a little charecter till you aided your brother in the theft of the Presidency in 2000. May your soul burn in hell for an eternity on that one.
