Kid Rock welcomes Ryan to fundraiser in Michigan

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. — Presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan was joined by a very special guest tonight at a fundraiser in a Detroit suburb: rockstar Kid Rock.

Michigan native Kid Rock, singer of the Romney campaign’s unofficial theme song ‘Born Free,’ joined Ryan — an avid rock music fan — and roughly 160 others at the affluent Oakland Hills Country Club here.

“I was going to come out, be a little wisenheimer and say, 'Guess which one is running for vice president,'” Kid Rock, who wore a white fedora, told the crowd inside a ballroom on the main floor about his original plan “Then they would introduce Paul and I would walk out and say hello.”

Ryan, the seven-term Wisconsin congressman, was not shy to admit he is a fan of the popular singer.

“So one of us is running for vice president but only one of us listened to 'Bawitdaba' on the way over here in the motorcade with the Secret Service,” Ryan said of Kid Rock's breakout single to laughs. “I’ve been listening to Kid Rock for a long, long time.”

While the campaign would not directly confirm if guests knew in advance Kid Rock’s presence tonight at the fundraiser within Bloomfield Township, where Mitt Romney's family once lived, one man did bring a large guitar to the country club asking for an autograph.

Guests paid anywhere from $500 to $20,000 to get a glimpse of the congressman and Kid Rock. No estimation was available by the campaign for how much was raised. It isn't the first time Bob Ritchie — Kid Rock's given name — has appeared at an event on Romney's behalf; Kid Rock and his band performed "Born Free" at a culminating rally for Romney shortly before the pivotal Michigan primary.

Friday night’s event – the first of two fundraisers for Ryan tonight – followed a public campaign event featuring both Romney and Ryan in the state the presumptive GOP presidential nominee was born.

Ryan’s first fundraiser in The Great Lakes State had its share of politics and attacks as well.

He specifically mentioned former Democratic President Bill Clinton for the first time since being tapped as the VP candidate in an attempt to illustrate the difference between Clinton and President Barack Obama.

“What we want to do is not just beat up the other guy and try to win by default, that is what President Obama is going to do. He can’t run on his record, he didn’t moderate his positions like Bill Clinton did, he went hard to the left.,” Ryan said. “So he is going to have to divide, distract, demagogue, distort to try and win by default.”

And the harsh words for President Obama didn’t end there.

“You know he speaks to people as if they are stuck in their station in life. As if they are victims of circumstance outside their control and the government is here to help them cope. That is cynical. That is not freedom," Ryan said.

The Wisconsin lawmaker, who characterized Michigan as one of a “handful of states” that will determine the election, heads to the battleground state of Ohio on Saturday to campaign again with running mate.

Well, Kid Rock apparently at least knows what's best for his country, unlike Michael Jordan and the basketball stars we read about a couple nights ago.

Isn't it interesting how much the Leftists drool over Obama rubbing shoulders with celebrities but ridicules any similar acts by Romney or Ryan? Double standard?

But then again, I suppose it's for the same reason that we need Romney's tax returns but not Obama's college records. And why Romney can't have an offshore account but Pelosi, Carney, and Wasserman-Shultz all can. Hypocrisy in action, folks.

Kid Rock and Scott Stapp, singer of the band Creed, appear in a sex tape from 1999 in which the two have sex with four groupies in a mobile home.[ California pornography company Red Light District planned to release the tape in 2006, but both Rock and Stapp filed with the California courts to sue Red Light District and stop the tape's distribution

Al, and which votes does Obama have tied up, other than gays? Certainly not the editors and staff on Newsweek magazine. And certainly not Independents. And certainly not the swing voters in FL, OH, PA, NH, NC, MN, and VA, since the Colorado statistical analysis has him losing all those states.

Ron Paul had a tremendous amount of support from those who do not want to see the R&R boys win. Let's hope they push him to go rogue on the GOP.

A guy worth a reported 40 million dollars supporting a Republican isn't big news. The fact that Kid Rock started out playing on the east side of Detroit to racially mixed audiences but now caters to the Lynard Skynard redneck types shows his true colors. He's not from the city, but from the lily white suburbs. The black audience accepted him because he was good. Now, he's an idiot that is everywhere and anywhere a camera can be found. Support Romney Bob Ritchie, but he's going to lose. Hope you didn't give him a whole lot of coin.

Ron Paul will never tell his supporters to vote for Romney, they are libertarians they dislike the republicans as much as the democrats, Paul only ran as a republican this time to get what little exposure they would afford him. He will not roll over on his supporters because republicans show a video "tribute" to him, if they wanted to pay tribute to him they would have let him speak, and his supporters know that as well. They will not let him speak because he will not stand there and flatter Romney he will speak about what he always speaks about and it is never flattering of either the democrats or republicans. They better be careful with their tribute video, because if it appears they are putting their words in Paul's mouth it will inflame his followers, which obviously are now large enough in number that the RNC cannot afford to just ignore as they have in the past.

Forrest, Paul IS a republican. He has been a republican congressman for, well, years.

He has told his supporters to support Romney- and will exhort them to do so again. I know it was the Obama cult's biggest dream that he would run as an independent- no matter how many times he said he would not, there were threads on here about how he "left the door open"- but there was NEVER any chance that Paul would run third party. He might be a little potty, but he isn't delusional.

Will most of his supporters vote for Romney? I have no idea.

I know they won't be voting for Obama.

Nope, only a moron would think of that.

Probably talking about Clinton raising a few taxes, but dropping the capital gains tax (the one Romney mainly uses), about Clinton dropping national healthcare, about giving up on a stimulus, about Clinton giving up after 5 times and finally going with a balanced budget approach ...

Stuff like that .... you know the stuff that he joined the repub House and Senate on that led to the economy you guys luv to brag about.

Obama has had to change his agenda more than a few times to keep these whining right wing brats from throwing more of hissy fit than they normally do.

Obama's flop ... flip ... flop ... flip on things like gay marriage was because of the "whining right wing brats"?

Guantanamo ... "unpatriotic" deficit spending on that "China credit card" .... that deficit that he was going to cut in half ... (and how many do you want?)

And here comes the "divide & distract" crap flowing out of their mouths again. So what's your plan, Paulie.

Wow .. you didn't even try to deny Obama's "divide & distract". (Btw - pathetic deflection.)

Take from the poor and give to the rich? Sounds about right.

Name an example of taking from the poor (or common tax payer) and giving to the rich that tops Obama literally taking tax payer money to repay his billionaire bundler buddies like the Solyndra (and many other - need the names) scam.

I met Elvis once, but to young to appreciate it. Bo's mom was Ann Margret's assistant / hair dresser (friends). Ann Margret brought Elvis by for a visit, and I was introduced to him. If I was a little bit older maybe I would have appreciated it. Now its just a fun story.

Hey GGem. Have seen your posts and Cubs as well in here for quite some time. The good thing is about you two; I never see you lose it and fly off the handle (I could be mistaken though...I cannot be on here all the time). THAT...is very hard to do...kudos.

Honestly, NBC is awesome. If I log in early enough in the morning, I can catch all of the DNC daily talking points in one thread. If I am really lucky, some of the regulars will get snarky with some troll and I can catch the most important parts of each of the Media Matters/HPost, etc. talking points. ....sometimes, they will even cut and paste entire articles without me going out and doing a search for them! It sure makes it easier to spot some of the BS out there...

No famous singers here. But I met Dr. J once, hung out with Daryl Dawkins a few times when he coached the semi-pro b-ball team in Lehigh Valley, PA, and I used to be friends and hang out with some of the Philadelphia Eagles. I'm still in contact with one of them. I'm a tomboy like Bo Derek:)

Thank you for recognizing that Panther. It takes a bit of self-control on here. I just starting hanging out on the Fox site this past Monday. Its soooooo refreshing from the lib biased crap on NBC.

I don't get to Fox enough but I did catch the last 10 minutes of the Hannity show tonight. He had what appeared to be some moderate Democrats (not Progressives) on his show. They appeared to be talking about how they put their eggs in the President Obama basket and they seemed to be VERY disappointed in his performance (a major understatement). The President may have a hard time getting re-elected if a large number of his 2008 supporters feel as bad as those folks on the show appeared to be.

Panther, I'm surprised at the amount of Democrats who seem to be struggling to tow the party line. You saw the lines start to fray a bit with Clinton praising Bain and Bowles praising Ryan, etc., but now it's an utter disaster over there. Even Newsweek is turning on them!

You might want to check out the Hannity Show later Cubs. Those Democrats are NOT what you see on these NBC blogs. They appear to be moderate Democrats and Independants who are really suffering right now. ...Middle Class folks. I could tell Mr. Hannity seemed to want them to really trash the President (initially) but did manage to calm down a bit. I felt for them....they really bought into "Hope and Change." Sadly, the new motto seems to be "The Middle Class; one job loss away from Lower Class." There are not a lot of Middle Class jobs remaining in America.

I get Sean's emails daily. He's got a lot of great stuff; what I like about him is the amount of guests he manages to have on there, from Newt to Ryan to Dick Morris.

Michael Medved also did a piece recently about the lack of enthusiasm in the Obama camp this year. We don't have the elementary school kids singing the Obama song. We don't have the Japanese beach dancers singing "Obama is Beautiful, World." We don't have any of that. All the hype is dead at last.

All country music is excluded from the category of "good", with the limited exception of Johnny Cash's best songs and covers.

The country music performers need to give their "audience" something to cheer about. Let's look around: All the Red States are basically people that wish we were still live like people in the Wild West: hunting for a living, logging the forest for mining, women wearing dresses and having no choice but working in a saloon, making dresses or getting married whit the first a***e that proposes after one week.

They think that men should be wearing our guns around just like they did in the Wild West. The only different thing is that they have changed the horse for a pick-up truck. That is only because they are too stupid to learn how to ride, or the payments in the trailer home does not allow them to be able to afford it.

Ryan position on women no "Exception" for women who have been Raped, Incest, Or if the Mother's life is in danger, any man who agrees with him on any issue is pretty sad. Just today he admitted that's his position and he also

Ryan drafted a bill in Congress with the Definition of "Forceable Rape"

We cannot let this go as many American do with other issues.

Paul Ryan in drafting this Forceable Rape, actually writing his definition and Congressman's Akin's of what is considered "Forceable Rape" is and should be unacceptable to all Men and Women

Congressman Akin's views are Paul Ryan's Views, and many in the Republican Party, its just that he "Spilled The Beans" none of us were supposed to hear any Republican hear or utter those words.

Finally "Mit Romney's Father" was born in Mexico. So trying to lie about President Obama's birth, now it's time to ask to see Mit's Birth Certificate, no exceptions.

All jokes aside when Mit stooped to the Birther movement, ok let's see who's the leader of the Birther party

Russian Women are leading the Republican Party

Orley Tate, Russian woman is the orginator of the Birther Movement. Read about her on line she's in court every day and has been for years, however, no one will admit in the Republican Party that they are being led by a Russian Woman who invented the Birther Movement

Paul Ryan's most admired person won who he said is responsible for him being in congress today is a Russian Woman, Ayn Ran a Russian Athiest.

People when you have an entire party being represented by or following 2 Russian Women and bringing those beliefs from Russian to the American People and actually running for seats in congress and sitting congressmen pushing Russia's agenda, it would seem to me American has a problem.

Media has not covered these Russian Women and made sure American know who started these movements, the Birther Movement in particular, and Rush, the Republican Party, Trump are all following her Lead, seems to me something is amiss.

“You know he speaks to people as if they are stuck in their station in life. As if they are victims of circumstance outside their control and the government is here to help them cope. That is cynical. That is not freedom," Ryan said.

        Please read this...

        www.epi.org/publication/bp195/

This, folks, was written in 2007...before our economy was crumpled up and tossed into the hopper. Wages even bag then were stagnant. While the economy recovered, it did not do so for the rank and file workers who actually did the work.

        This is nothing new.

Every year we hear of new record profits for all of these Fortune 500 companies but wages remain stagnant for the middle and lower classes. When that happens, Congressman Ryan, that tells me that, yes, people are stuck in their station in life. That, Congressman, is what freedom is not.

You do know the difference don't you? The rich sport stars donating to President Obama are donating to the party that promises to raise their taxes for a better America for us all.

The rich donating to Romney are expecting tax cuts and a better life just for themselves and to he!! with America.

You tell me, which plan is more patriotic and done for the love of America?

Ugh. It's a bit late for this, but I suppose I'm up for it if you are...

NO, the rich donating to Romney are not doing so solely because they want tax cuts. But that's really not the issue in the first place. The issue is whether or not tax cuts for the rich are good or bad for the rest of the country. Statistics show that they're good. The Bush tax cuts resulted in the top 1% paying over 33% MORE in taxes in 2006 than they did in 2001. Check out TaxFoundation.org. The top 1% paid 301 billion in 2001 and 408 billion in 2006. Why? Because lower tax rates encourage them to invest more of their money. Anytime you make something less expensive to do, people tend to do it more. And who benefits when the rich invest more in our economy? We all do.

So who benefits when the rich get tax cuts? That's right. We all do.

        • 4 votes
        #9.3 - Sat Aug 25, 2012 12:26 AM EDT

Where you here at the end of bush presidency? Explain to me how we all benefited.

If the tax cuts were so good for our country and increased the income from taxes just where did the huge deficit to pay for the tax cuts come from? Why would the tax cuts increase our deficit?

Are you trying to tell me we all benefited from the largest deficit in our history?

The truth is the cost of the tax cuts was 10 times more that the extra money the tax cuts brought in.

I think we were better off during the Clinton era. Taxes were high on the higher earners and the unemployment was low and our economy was growing. Clinton's last year was the first year in many years that the debt ceiling didn't need to be raised. We were looking at having our entire debt paid off in 10 years. By 2010 we were to be debt free.

So who benefits when the rich get tax cuts? The rich of course.

Let's check out Romney's tax returns if you don't believe me. Oh, that's right Romney is hiding his tax returns. If we all benefit, then why is Romney hiding his tax returns from the people?

Apparently something really bad that proves that only the rich benefits from tax cuts is in Romney's hidden taxes.

Come on Romney, prove you are man enough to show the people just how you have gotten so rich and how it is so good for us all.

Valerie Richardson of the Washington Times:

DENVER — A University of Colorado economic model that has correctly predicted the last eight presidential elections shows Mitt Romney emerging as the victor in 2012.

Ken Bickers, professor of political science at the University of Colorado Boulder, and Michael Berry, political science professor at the University of Colorado Denver, announced Wednesday that their state-by-state analysis shows the Republican capturing a majority of electoral votes.

"Based on our forecasting model, it becomes clear that the president is in electoral trouble," said Mr. Bickers, who also serves as director of the CU in DC Internship Program.

The results show President Obama winning 218 votes in the Electoral College, well short of the 270 required for victory. While the study focuses on the electoral vote, the professors also predict that Mr. Romney will win 52.9 percent of the popular vote to Mr. Obama's 47.1 percent when considering only the two major political parties.

The analysis factors in a host of economic data, including state and national unemployment figures and changes in real per capita income.

"What is striking about our state-level economic indicator forecast is the expectation that Obama will lose almost all of the states currently considered as swing states, including North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire, Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida," Mr. Bickers said.

While noneconomic factors such as incumbency can play a role in the election's outcome, the professors found that there was no statistical advantage conferred by the location of the party's national convention, the home state of the vice-presidential candidate, or the party affiliation of state governors.

The silver lining for the Obama campaign is that the data was collected five months before the election; the professors say they plan to update their forecast in September, which should provide a more accurate picture. They also note that dead-heat states have been known to fall in unexpected directions.

"As scholars and pundits well know, each election has unique elements that could lead one or more states to behave in ways in a particular election that the model is unable to correctly predict," Mr. Berry said.

The republicans can't have reasonable gun laws because it might cause one American to be denied of their gun rights and at the same time the republicans have no problem making laws to deny millions of Americans from voting as if voting and a democracy wasn't also rights guaranteed in the constitution.

You know like in a real democracies where the people vote to decided the direction of the country.

Only dictators in low life countries suppress the vote like the republicans are doing in America.

Pretty sad when the republicans can't win on their ideals, they instead choose to keep the people from voting. None of the jobs they promised ever appeared when elected, but they sure managed to suppress the vote and take rights away from women.

The republicans promise jobs and didn't deliver just like Romney who promised jobs when running for governor and couldn't produce jobs then either. Of course what is Romney running on, the jobs he couldn't produce before.

Republicans must really be stupid to believe the totally unbelievable con job they are trying to pull over your eyes.

thetotas- if you are still here, great talking with you, and thank you for the inside info on Ann Margret. I always liked her so it was nice to hear she was just as wonderful off-screen.

Good night everyone. Take care always.

Lol. Ok. I'm pretty tired too. I printed off some new sheet music I wanted to try, but it'll have to wait till tomorrow. I may still stick around for a bit, though. It depends on if I'm too lazy to get up and grab something to eat.

Good talking to you. :) Je'taime toujours, even if you don't like country. ;-)

Is Robert Byrd running for vice president or is that the woman hating Ryan?

Ryan thinks that in legitimate rape you don't get pregnant. Ryan doesn't think that women who are raped should be allowed abortions. Ryan wants the rape to continue for another 9 months while forcing the victim to carry the rapist child.

Ryan's whole reason it is okay how he believes is because Romney is the one running for president. What if something happened to Romney and Ryan had to become president? Would Ryan continue to push the Romney ideals that Ryan doesn't believe in?

Ryan pretty boy was picked for the same reason as Palin. To look good while appeasing the right wing fanatics.

You should try some facts. The actual people involved in fast and furious have said that President Obama and Eric Holder knew nothing about what they were doing.

I don't know if you remember but in 2008 when President Obama was elected America's economy crashed with people losing their jobs, their homes and life's savings. Our country was bleeding millions of jobs every month. Meanwhile the republicans are blocking any bill that might create jobs in America and help repair our economy.

But go ahead sherri, vote for a republican so you can become a second class citizen like the women in China where the government is in charge of their bodies and forcing abortions. Does that sound like freedom to you?

Once the government is in charge of your body it could go either way forcing abortions or outlawing abortions depending upon who is in power. Do you really want to give the government that power?

Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult

"It should have been evident to clear-eyed observers that the Republican Party is becoming less and less like a traditional political party in a representative democracy and becoming more like an apocalyptic cult, or one of the intensely ideological authoritarian parties of 20th century Europe. This trend has several implications, none of them pleasant."

Robert James Ritchie was rise republican since birth. He can't say how he live a hard life without any of the basic needs. His family had wealth well beyond the middle class. His father was rich. All his ridden songs were about his social friends who weren't allow to walk in his garage. So salute the false republican Kid Rock.
