The Republican National Convention will pay tribute to Texas Rep. Ron Paul during the second night of its convention.
Romney campaign adviser Russ Schriefer told reporters on Friday that the Romney campaign had assented to requests by Paul supporters to air a "short" film paying tribute to the retiring Texas congressman, who's attracted a devoted following in his two bids for the GOP presidential nomination.
The film — along with a speaking slot Monday for the congressman's son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul — is a nod toward the influence of Ron Paul, whose supporters, convention organizers have worried, might stir a small commotion during the roll call vote to nominate Romney.

Schriefer confirmed that convention delegates would vote to formally nominate Romney for president on Monday; the presumptive Republican nominee would become the official Republican nominee on Thursday night, when he accepts the nomination. (At this point, Romney would be able to access and spend funds he has raised for use in the general election campaign.)

Television networks have signaled that they will only broadcast three nights of coverage, raising the possibility that Monday's festivities — including a planned speech by Ann Romney — would be missed by a national audience. Schriefer wouldn't shoot down rumors that the Romney campaign might move Ann Romney's speech if the networks don't extend their coverage plans.
"I'm optimistic that the right thing will be done," he said.
Other features of the convention include plans to feature fellow members of Romney's Mormon church, and 15 Olympians — meant to highlight Romney's widely acclaimed tenure as head of the Salt Lake City Olympics. Three Olympians will speak, most prominently Mike Eruzione, the captain of the 1980 U.S. "Miracle on Ice" Olympic hockey team.
Organizers are pushing ahead with planning despite warnings of a major storm turning toward Tampa, the site of the convention. Schriefer boasted in particular of the modern backdrop onstage of speakers, which he described as a "Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired piece of architecture."

If Ron Paul has any dignity, he will walk out of that shameless comedy act. Romney is the most manipulative, openly dishonest public figure in this country. People that vote for him are clearly misinformed. The fact that he is the candidate of a major political party is a huge indictment of our public and private educational systems. This is the dictatorship of big corporations, yes, those people, and they got their ideas from George Orwell's 1984. English has been replaced by Newspeak and nobody notices the difference. That might be the language spoken on planet Kolob.
If Ron Paul would have disassociated himself from the Republican Party, he most likely would have been our next President. I still think we missed an opportunity that will not come around again for a very, very long time.

It will all just be lip-service to Ron, because they have realized they can't win without Ron's votes in the election. A little late for that realization in my mind, after they way they've marginalized him for so long. They pretend to be looking at a gold standard, but the thing is, one of the key reasons for a gold standard is that it prevents you from being able to finance endless wars. Fat chance of that from the Republicans...

Everytime Romney comes up with something that makes him look like the jerk he is he says, "Well, I was just joking." My curiosity was killing me because everytime Romney walked up to the mic in a pair of jeans, I thought it looked like he had on a dirty diaper or else he is just slung low. However, after watching Brian Williams "Rock Cernter" last Thursday evening, which was about the Morman religion, he cleared it all up for me. If his show can still be watched on-line, notice the church has this Gawd-awful underwear their members are told to wear like good little boys and girls. I laughed so hard, it brought me to tears. This religion sounds real similar to Scientology to me.
Wow, lets not forget the numerous times Obama and/or Biden says something that makes them look like jerks....which seems to be on a daily basis.
Here's the difference between Obama and Romney. Obama is a man of morals, vision for our country and has charisma. Romney on the other hand, has zero morals, does have visions for himself and the 1%, and for charisma, has zero in that plastic body of his. Don't believe me? Watch him at the convention. He won't have a telepromter, he will be holding an Etch A Sketch, His head will be turning real fast side to side, which only means one thing, he's talking out of both sides of his mouth, and his fake laugh and that confused look on his face will mean that he is lying to all of the USA. Just remember, Zero Vision, Zero Chrisma, and Zero Morals. When a man has morals, he will not lie to the people he is elected to make decisions for and protect.

It's too bad Ron Paul was shoved into the shadows every time he attempted to run for President. He is a smart man with great ideas. The kind of ideas that could turn the country around and truly work for the American people. No way are these two powerhouses going to let someone into office that might actually follow through in making the kind of changes we really need in the country. I like Ron Paul and I definately would have voted for him. We need people like him taking office. Someone who is not afraid to change the tax structure and do away with the fed. Someone who beleives he is working for the people. The Dems and Reps sure are not looking out for our best instrests or we would never be in the mess we are in. Maybe after another 4 years of BS enough people will wake up and starte listenting to the Libertarians and actually vote a few of them into office. Wouldn't that be a hoot! We'd hear some crying then. The Dems always cry and point fingers the most and the Reps are not far behind. Corrupt-all of them.

Simply because a politician expresses contempt for the war machine and promotes the legalization of pot does not make him 'the next coming'. George McGovern was way ahead of Ron Paul on those issues. It may, however, very well qualify him to become Mayor of the City of San Francisco, or perhaps even one day the Governor of the great state of Oregon, but never President of the United States. It is, in fact, because San Francisco or Oregon even exist that the movement will grow no larger. The overwhelming majority of people on the outside simply say that if you want to live like that, move to THAT city or to THAT state and leave me and mine alone. True libertarianism, no?
Beyond taking clear political advantage of the potent idealism and latent materialism of both peaceniks and potheads alike, Ron Paul's larger libertarian agenda is nothing more than the removal of fences from around the chicken coop. For a short while, the chickens are happy. Then what?
The fact of the matter is that chicken coops exist on a farm which itself exists within both an industry and a community. The extrapolations can go on much further, but at some point, the net result is that we populate this one world as a single race of human beings. Ron Paul would have us believe that we can be content to live out our existence in relative peace and harmony by simply denying ourselves participation IN that global community, while at the same time retaining the right to deny TO THOSE WE CHOOSE entree into the restaurants which we own or stores that we open INSIDE that community.
These issues aside, and the reason for my growing contempt for Mr. Paul, is less about philosophy and more about tactics. His demonstrated abeyance to the master manipulators of the Republican Party, which is to say abeyance to the 1% who CONTROL the Republican Party, simply in the hopes of securing for his son the support OF that Republican Party toward some small future political gain like legalized hemp production, is a slap in the face to the thousands of supporters whose efforts have PROVIDED Mr. Paul with the very ACCESS he now seeks to exploit on behalf of Rand.
Rather than shake the columns supporting the temple which his supporters have so carefully, calculatingly, and competently infiltrated, Mr. Paul simply accepts some floor space at the foot of the head table in the hopes of one day having his son offered an actual seat.
Rand Paul will NEVER be given a seat at that table. At best, he will be invited to deliver the meals, and in so doing, during that brief chance encounter with the powers that be, have their ear long enough to make a dessert recommendation.

The Jewish Division on Greed.
The effects of greed and the fear of uncertainty, which lead to economic crime and theft, may be limited by the understanding of God’s role as the real provider of all the needs of His creatures. This, however, is not sufficient to create a moral economic system. All too often, faith in God’s bounty as satisfying all the needs of men leads to an evasion of social responsibilities. This piety can easily degenerate into the moral corruption of telling the poor, the weak, and even one’s competitors in the marketplace to trust in God’s bounty, using it as an excuse for not sharing what we receive from Him.
It is because of this ease with which people are able to find reasonable and rational reasons for not giving charity that the Tur [Ya‘akov ben Asher, 15th century codifier of Jewish law known by the title of his work, Arba‘ah Turim], in his opening statement to the laws of tzedakah uses a repetitive form, writing that “one is obligated to be very, very careful in giving charity.” By these laws, the belief in Divine bounty as a source of all wealth creates in Judaism a concept of stewardship, whereby part of that wealth is given to assist others. The religious concept of bitachon (trust in God) may be applied only to ourselves and may not be projected as the means to solve the economic problems of others. One of the chassidic masters said that he was taught this lesson when he found a ten ruble note. “I put it under a stone and wrote on the stone, ‘Thou shalt not steal!’ When I returned, I found a five ruble note in its place and written on the stone was the verse, ‘Thy brother shall live with thee.’ ”
The Mishnah (Avot 5:12) classifies one whose attitude to wealth is “What is mine is mine and what is yours is yours” as being a mediocre person. Such a person is prepared to respect the property of another and operate within the framework of the law. However, he is not prepared to assist others, nor does he recognize a social obligation in view of the wealth in his possession. “Some say,” continues the Mishnah, “this is the mark of the people of Sodom.” The people of Sodom have been the archetype of an evil community deserving of destruction ever since biblical times, primarily because of their selfish economic behavior. The Malbim (Rabbi Meir Lebush, Hungary, nineteenth century) comments that their sin lay in their refusal to share their wealth with the surrounding nations. It should be noted that while the Aggadah [classical rabbinic legends] is replete with stories of their inhospitality to strangers, the men of Sodom welcomed Lot, Abraham’s nephew. Lot was a wealthy man, and it was only poor strangers who were not welcome in Sodom. The Sodomite view of absolute private property rejects any obligations to assist others, which is contrary to the Jewish concept of limited private-property rights.
Hearing that in the World to Come evildoers would be punished by not being able to bend their arms, a chasid queried Divine Justice, saying that this was no punishment. “Well, they will not be able to eat,” answered his master. But the chasid countered, “Let them sit opposite each other and then they can feed one another with their outstretched arms.” That, however they refused to do. That is their evil way even as it was in Sodom.
However, what made it necessary to destroy Sodom was not the individual selfishness of its citizens, but the fact that this had become an integral part of its communal culture. While a society can exist with cruel and selfish individuals, the moral decay that sets in when cruelty and callousness become hallmarks of that society marks it for Divine retribution. Rashi, commenting on a verse in Amos--“They who sell the poor for a pair of shoes”--highlights this communal aspect. He notes the difference between a sandal, which is open, and a shoe, which is closed and possesses in Hebrew the same grammatical root as the word for “lock.” This is what the rich did. They closed in the poor farmer’s field and then forced him to sell—a perfectly legal but immoral use of societal legislation. So Judea had to be destroyed. In Sodom they gave charity generously. However, all the money was secretly marked so that the storekeepers refused to accept it. When the poor died of hunger, each Sodomite reclaimed his money—legal but abhorrent. Cruelty and callousness are expressed not only in relationships with the poor and weak but also in those between buyer and seller, employer and employee, and even competitors in all spheres of business activity.
When a chasid came to his Admor [the rabbi of whom he was a follower] to complain that his competitors were encroaching on his livelihood, the master told him the following story: “A horse, pausing to drink of the waters of a lake, was astounded to see the head of another horse, bending to drink of his water. In anger, he lashed out with his hooves to chase the other horse away. When, indeed the waves drove away the intruder, the horse put his head down into the water once again to drink, only to find that the other horse had returned. Once again he lashed out with his hooves. You, my friend, are a man, not a horse. The God who provides for you, provides also for the needs of your fellowmen.”
If people really believed that all their needs would be satisfied as a result of God’s mercy and providence, then they would not hesitate to share their wealth with others. Indeed, the refusal to share wealth with others is a denial of trust in God, a rejection of God’s merit as the provider of the needs of man, and an assumption that that wealth is the result solely of one’s work, ability, or luck. The selfishness of the people of Sodom and their imitators in all societies is actually a form of idolatry, since it negates the Divine Source of all wealth.

Fellow republicans... when George took the oath of office in 2001, in his words there was "a red light on the dashboard". Thanks to our man W, by the time he drove the American vehicle all the way to November 2008... he managed to leave it wrapped around the telephone pole of calamity. Let us list his accomplishments...
* immediately put the budget into red ink by giving massive tax breaks to the rich
* read a children's book while terrorists were in the process of destroying the WTC
* allowed Bin Laden to escape in the Tora Bora mountains
* invaded Iraq for reasons no one understands to this day... it certainly was not WMDs
* told his financial regulators to go to sleep while the largest bank fraud operation in history took place
* left us Henry Paulson staring into the cameras like a deer in the headlights... and the entire financial system on the brink of total collapse
* left us with 2 large scale unfinished wars... neither of which was the slightest bit necessary
History seems to allow us to blame these misfortunes on others... but we will always know they are the birth child of George and the GOP. Romney will continue this tradition!
