Romney: Spotlighting the auto bailout

“When Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan campaign together in Michigan on Friday, it will likely give Democrats a chance to highlight how the GOP ticket differs on the auto bailout,” USA Today writes.

USA Today: “Look deeper on the Wisconsin House member's list of priorities, military and foreign policy experts say, and you'll see a commitment to standard GOP principles: support for robust Pentagon spending and opposition to President Obama's foreign policy. He takes advice from the American Enterprise Institute, a hawkish think tank favored by Republicans."

Will Ryan bring Wisconsin? The University of Minnesota’s Smart Politics blog notes, “The last eight vice-presidential nominees from the Midwest have carried their home state dating back to 1944.”

Seriously, Cardinal Dolan will give the benediction at the Republican National Convention, but it’s not an endorsement necessarily, the New York Daily News reports.

So think about this, Dolan will speak at the RNC (religious freedom) and Sandra Fluke (women’s health/birth control) will speak at the DNC.

There’s one thing the Swiss just can’t stay neutral about… The Swiss government isn’t happy with Obama’s ads and tone about Romney’s Swiss holdings, nor is it pleased with “Romney Girl,” a satirical video that lampoons Romney’s wealth and features a character named, “Swiss Miss Bank Account.”

If Mittens is from Michigan, how come I never see him eat a coney? Too bad that "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" doesn't play very well.

Too bad that "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" doesn't play very well.

at the same time, Romney said that he actually deserves the lion’s-share of the credit for Detroit’s turnaround.

“I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy, and finally when that was done, and help was given, the companies got back on their feet,” Romney said, “So, I’ll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry has come back.”

Romney is nothing more than a chicken $hit and a hypocrite

Going to be quite a hoot if the republicans don't carry either of their home states in this presidential election - we all know they won't carry MA and it is not looking very good for them in WI either.

Thats ok for Mitten, he'll just claim another state as his home state. That man will flip-flop on anything.

And yes, I'm going to call him Mitten instead of Mittens, because he's just about as useful as a pair of mittens that you've lost one of the set.

I agree with UB and Detroit on the need for the candidates to carry their home states.

It will be particularly embarassing if Obama doesn't carry Indonesia.

Sorry, bay, I stand corrected and agree with you. Obama was apparently born in Kenya.

common - and mitt was born in mexico and did not live in MA when he voted there. The first assumption is as crazy as your kenyan theory, however, the second theory is something I believe to be correct. The real reason mitt won't release his tax returns is not because of how little he paid (that is a badge of honor among the 1%), and we all know he paid something because the IRS would be on to that, but the real issue for me is did he commit voter fraud by voting in a state he did not live in? I do believe that is the real reason he won't release those tax returns and so do many who live in MA. None of the working/middle class people we visited with in Boston think he actually lived there when he ran for governor and voted in that election. Me, I always believe the working/middle class people over the 1% "it is ok for the wealthy to do wrong but not you working folks" crowd.

Americas auto industry was not saved, a few corporations were given free handouts through fascistic bailouts at the expense of the american taxpayer and potential competition to these companies was eliminated.

The Dow is part of a massive economic bubble caused by rampant inflation and the popping of the bubble is inevitable as it is unsustainable

Obama hasn't fixed anything, the problems were caused by bailouts (which Obama does) and by inflation via stimulus (which Obama does)

UB, NO ONE cares about Romney's tax returns except the few. Right now it's getting a lot of pub because Obama's team is trying to define him. Over the next 70 days, this won't even be an issue as the economy becomes the primary focus, as it should.

And regarding Obama's ability to carry Kenya in the election, that was just a joke. We all know he can't carry Kenya, but he might win Mexico.

I'm not a birther by any means, but I was digging around on the internet and found that the arguments about Obama's birth are pretty interesting. Some suggest that the reason Obama has not released any of his college records is because they show he attended as a foreign student, that his own grandmother stated he was born in Kenya, that Kenya has erected a monument to honor Obama since he was born there and that the state of Hawaii doesn't even consider the birth certificate he presented as valid. They say the birth certificate even indicates that he was born African-American, which is a term that was not commonly used in the USA until the 1980's. I don't really have an opinion on this matter, but have noticed that some posting comments indicate these claims are false.

Just wondering if any of you have done research on this matter and can help me understand why these accusations are false.

It is amazing that people have forgotten what party drove the bus into the ditch for eight years. If Republicans truly wanted to put people back to work, why didn't the Congress and Senate do it?? Oh yes,I forgot. Mitch McConnell said he was only elected to ensure no second term for Obama. Now that is truly represntative democracy at work that needs to be exported around the world. NOT. McConnell,Boehmer and Cantor all need to be replaced by peop[le who really want to improve the USA. Yors type of politics are showing the world that as a democracy you have a lot to learn.

Correct Steve, and most of the neocons would like us to forget that it takes a lot longer and more money to clean up the circus trash after the elephants leave town.

GM's stock is less than half of what we paid for it, and they're yet again on the road to bankruptcy.

          What will Obama do next?

(other than claim..."I didn't build that!")

Those poor unfortunate Swiss. They hide money for some of the most corrupt people in the world with their secret banking accounts and they are unhappy when someone criticizes them for it. BooHoo.

They were the bankers of the NAZIS. It is way past time for them to open their secret bank accounts to the scrutiny of tax collection and law enforcement agencies around the world. Same for you Cayman Islands. According to article I read the other day, there is an estimated $32 trillion hidden away by drug dealers, organized crime, corrupt politicians, and tax evaders around the world.

When gas prices spiked at $4.00 +/gallon back in the Summer 2008, a subsequent investigation found that 10% of all oil futures held on that day on the NY Mercantile exchange was owned by one Swiss investment bank which was just trying to make money whike helping to drive the world's economy into recession.

That is why I have been boycotting anything sold by a Swiss company. And I used to like Nestle's products such as Taster's choice instant coffee.

Don't you just love the reality-benders? The auto companies weren't actually bailed out. Obama was born in Kenya. Ryan and Romney will save Medicare. Romney wasn't actually at Bain when they shipped out the jobs. Health care overhaul is ok for states, but not for the country. Women don't have babies when they get raped. Jobs are created by people who have car elevators. It's just a wonderful world they live in, isn't it? And they don't even have to show us their tax returns.

All they have to do now is put an end to that plague of voter fraud we're enduring, build a wall along the Rio Grande and launch a military strike against Iran and everything will be perfect. A chicken in every pot.

So AIG..Bailed out by TARP..pushed by Bush was..WHAT? Free market? Flip over to CNBC and see how well the stock exchange is STILL doing... was that "Fascist"? I'm confused...When a Republican President "GIVES" away 900 BILLION....to rich ass bankers..its .."American"...BUT...when a Democratic President attempts to prop up..and invest in an AMERICAN industry that provides MILLIONS of middle class jobs..BECAUSE..TARP welfare recipients (THE BANKS) pocket the money and won't do their job...LOAN MONEY!..cause lets face it..FLIPP Romney HAD to placate his investors...is somehow Fascist? SOMEONE..ANYONE!!!! Larry Kudlow!!!! Explain the difference....
