Here’s the script: Kevin, father: "Some of our children's greatest experiences have been in the smaller classrooms." Voiceover: "But Mitt Romney says class sizes don't matter and he supports Paul Ryan's budget which could cut education by 20%." Kevin: "You can't do this by shoving 30, 35 people in a class and just teaching to some test." Caroline, mother: "These are all issues that really he personally cannot relate to. To be able to afford an education to want the very best public education system for your children."
But let’s look at the facts. Did Romney say “class sizes don’t matter,” as the ad alleges? First Read fact-checked this back in May when, in a campaign event in Philadelphia back in May, Romney seemed to downplay or dismiss the impact of class sizes. He said classroom sizes were not “driving the success” of school systems around the world that have similar class sizes to the United States. He cited a private management company’s study, not academic research.
But he also acknowledged -- in a limited way -- that smaller class sizes can have a positive impact. “If you had a class of five that would be terrific,” he said in May. “If you had a class of 50 that’s impossible.”
Romney, however, has a history of being critical of the idea of class sizes. At a Fox/Google debate in Florida in September 2011, he said, “All the talk about we need smaller classroom size, look that's promoted by the teachers’ unions to hire more teachers.”
Really… Hank Williams Jr. said this about the president of the United States yesterday: “We’ve got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the U.S. and we hate him.”

Romney's gotta pay for his tax cuts somehow. Romney claims he pays 13% in taxes (even though he never says the word INCOME tax, we will assume it is). That means he pays less than 4th quantile of taxpayers and slighly more than the Middle Class. And according to Mitt, he is overtaxed so he needs to cut taxes. And this is while the Republicans said FU to the MIddle Class:

But Jr is more respected and popular than the President.

Class sizes do matter, it is not safe for one teacher to try to control and teach that many kids of any age, especially if you are talking about jr. high and senior high school kids. Of course, if the gopers keep cutting education then fewer people will want to teach and they will have their dream of eliminating public education which has been on their agenda for at least 40 years.
I think I'd have more respect for Romney's opinion, if he had spent his time out of office volunteering in a school, instead of acquiring classic cars for his collection, cheering on his wife's horse in dressage competition, and schmoozing with monied political donors. Republicans like to ridicule President Obama's time as a community organizer, but at least he rubbed elbows with working Americans at some point in his life, unlike Romney, who spent his early twenties on a mission in France, and the rest of his career in the upper echelons of wealth.
Union, I don't know about you but when I went to school class sizes were in the 26-32 range. These whiners of today also have "assistants" that were not necessary when I was in school. Problem is, the unruliness of the children (no respect taught by their parents who give them whatever they want and teach them that they are special in every way) bred by the "everybody gets a trophy" PC we can't have the children think they are losers liberal mentality. That and the removal of corporal punishment both in the home and at school.

As a retired educator I can tell you that class sizes DO matter. Teachers often need to spend more time with some of their students, dealing with grades and the logistics of large classes, while doable, make it much more difficult. While the teacher is dealing with the logistics and grading, dealing with more parents and the students themselves they don't have the time to devote to actually TEACHING. Most parents are too busy to participate in helping either in the classroom or for homework yet complain that their child isn't learning and blame it solely on the teacher. Yes, there are some poor teachers like there are poor plumbers, poor CEOs and so forth but generally teachers have a thankless job. They put up with other peoples' brats, unable these days to scold children or even look at them with any sort of scorn, they are poorly paid when compared to people in business with equal educations but because they love it so much teachers soldier on and do the best they can. When funds are cut they do what they can with what's left over. Somehow people get the idea that teachers are rolling in money during and after their teaching career has ended. Guess again.
