According to the new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, 22 percent of registered voters say Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan to be his running mate makes them more likely to vote for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.
That's compared with 23 percent who say the Ryan pick makes them less likely to vote for Romney, and 54 percent who say the new running mate doesn’t affect their vote either way.
These numbers suggest the Ryan pick has had less of an impact on voters than previous running mates have had.
In 2008, 24 percent in the NBC/WSJ poll said Joe Biden made them more likely to vote for Barack Obama, versus 16 percent who said he made them less likely to vote for the Democratic ticket.
The margins for Sarah Palin in 2008 (34 percent more likely vs. 25 percent less likely), John Edwards in 2004 (28 percent vs. 7 percent), and Joe Lieberman in 2000 (20 percent vs. 7 percent) were also bigger than Ryan's.
The closest Ryan’s margin comes to is Dick Cheney’s in 2000 (16 percent more likely vs. 14 percent less likely).
In the poll’s feeling thermometer, moreover, Ryan’s favorable/unfavorable score stands at 33 percent/32 percent.
Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who co-conducted this survey with GOP pollster Bill McInturff, attributes Ryan’s mixed numbers to today’s increasingly partisan divide, with Republicans backing him, Democrats opposing him and independents fairly divided.
The full NBC/WSJ poll -- which was conducted Aug. 16-20 of 1,000 registered voters (300 reached by cell phone) -- will be released at 6:30 pm ET.

The real question is, "Does the Ryan pick generate any new votes?" No, it does not. Does it frighten Seniors, Women, moderates and independents? Yes it does. Conclusion: It was a very bad pick.

Republicans: The Only Party Willing, Ready & Able to Lead American Women Back into the 17th Century!
Romney/Ryan Medicare plan = Voucher / Groupon
Romney/Ryan Social Security plan = puts your money in the stock market (Jeesh...)
Romney/Ryan budget plan = same old GOP smoke and mirrors.
GOP has NEVER had a balanced budget EVER. Ryan plan might balance budget after 28 YEARS !! Gimme a break.
The only balanced budget we ever had was the Clinton budget.
Remember the Clinton SURPLUS that Bush squandered?
says you.
all the old people i know are scared sh!tless by obama and what he did to their medicare
The Romney-Ryan campaign is built on flat-out lies.
Both GOP candidates avoid honesty at all costs.
Ryan is not an honest man - as he keeps on illustrating.
Yeah, right.....we all know the GOP/Tea Tards wants everybody to have a shiny new handgun and AK-47 with a 30 round clip....and no one to have health care...not even the elderly.
Romney and Ryan : We want you dead before you become a burden.
You mean how closed their doughnut hole and extended Medicare out to 8 yrs? The money shifted won't affect the seniors at all, but it will penalize fraud. I can see why the Republicans would be upset with that.
The margins for Sarah Palin in 2008 (34 percent more likely vs. 25 percent less likely
Must be a bitch, and embarrasing, to be beaten out in the polls by Palin...

...good one GT
I wonder what that poll will say after the Akin's-Ryan connection is made more public?
roflmao...
Wait till they read what's actually in the Ryan plan.
Medicare: President Obama SAVED $700 Billion in waste and fraud in the system - and used it to strengthen and expand Medicare.
The beneficiaries are not affected in any way. Romney and Ryan are lying about Medicare.
What they're saying doesn't make sense either, when you consider they are always crying about "waste and fraud".
Then they lie and say the President is "cutting". Even though he is NOT cutting seniors, the irony is the Romney-Ryan/GOP love to CUT safety nets.
Meanwhile the two GOP liar-in-chiefs would turn Medicare into dead wood, before you could blink.
Kick.
I'm very old and the only one that scares me is the whole republican party along with Mitt and Ryan!
keck
If you look anything like your avatar, they are scared @!$%#less of you.
Lets be honest the Republicans really don't want either Romney or Ryan .They had their heart set on Jeb Bush ..And Romney swooped in and has bought the election so far ...Ryan is now the most polarizing political figure in the race . His little plan to redefine the word "rape" to fit his anti abortion stance was rejected by his own party ! He has turned into Palin in a cheap suit !
I plan to grow old, and Romney/Ryan are making me re-think the wisdom of that goal.
Backstabbing:
If Obama brings the money to pay for everything, I will vote for him. However he spends and nothing is there to feel the bucket in.
Sooner or later he is going to default.
All creditors learn that there is a limit they can loan.
May be Obama is Jesus and we can have wine of his blood and sandwiches of his body as Jesus gave.Obama can walk in water so he may be able to do that.
Is that 54% would vote for Romney any way. Care to elaborate on this one NBC? or any of you way out liberals out there?
The GOP God....Dick "The Water-boarder" Cheney....famously said "Deficits Don't Matter"!
Now, all of a sudden, every Republican/Tea Tool has awoken from their slumber to scream, "Deficits DO MATTER!! OMG lower the deficit, lower the deficit!!!!". LOL!!!
But lets remember this:
It takes alot of time repair the damage from Bush and his gang of neo-con nation wreckers and con-men inflicted on America and Americans.
George W. Bush inherited a strong economy, a budget surplus and a nation at peace....
Eight years later the GOP destroyed the country through their malfeasance and naked greed through the Bush Administration debacle......the worst President in history.
Bush left Obama with a shattered economy, a trillion dollar deficit, Medicare Part D (unfunded), Bush tax cuts (unfunded) and two useless wars (unfunded).
ALSO....the GOP/Tea Tards have filibustered Obama more in the past 4 years than all of the past 50 years combined!!
Obama/Biden 2012
Ron - Methinks you know not about what you speak. Unless you're a woman, because you aren't a senior, moderate or independent.
I wish the poll look further into enthusiasm levels, as that's what this pick was really about for both sides. I was personally feeling somewhat lukewarm about Obama, but was planning to vote for him quietly.
As soon as Romney picked Ryan, I saw what's at stake, and the very next day signed up to volunteer for the Obama campaign.
Obama/Biden 2012!
Wait until the AARP tells its members what is in store for them if the Ryan Plan is ever instituted. Florida will go straight over to Obama along with the votes of millions of seniors nationwide.
Concern Citizen-856329
Concern, that is just not bright of you. Go to your corner and throw rocks at yourself.
I took a look at the Ryan plan (the second version he modified with some Democrat called Wyden) and it has some possibilities. It calls for a voucher system like his first plan, but the rate would be set by a bidding system. The second-lowest bid for private coverage equivalent to Medicare is what the voucher would pay. If you want a more expensive plan, you pay the difference. And you can even opt to have traditional Medicare instead if you prefer.
This sounds like a way to incentivize private companies to compete with Medicare to get a piece of the govt healthcare pie, although I'm not sure it would save very much money, just transfer some Medicare recipients to a private program instead.
the jackass is raping the elephant .
Kecky - Don't worry. It's a legitimate rape, so the elephant can't get pregnant....
-
-O&Joe 2012
Let's break this down:
22% who are more likely to vote for Romney with Ryan on the ticket are the religious radicals who hijacked the Republican Party.
23% who are less likely to vote for Romney now are Independents and moderate Republicans, some of whom were already wary of Romney.
54% who say it makes no difference are Democrats and Independents who were already going to vote for Obama/Biden.
Haters who would vote against the president even if Hitler was running on the GOP ticket are part of the 22% or 54%, but not a large part of the 54%.
AG99 -- Why would anyone not choose traditional Medicare? What does the Ryan plan do to reduce skyrocketing health care costs? "Patient centered" voodoo? Uh no -- Just like his plan that doesn't balance the budget, this is rubbish. Also, these morons leave out any way to increase revenue for anything--they just want to cut taxes, especially their own taxes. There are many better solutions being offered by the Dems.
GT-2021701 -- LMAO. That Elephant isn't fighting back, uh oh.
Hey keck, Obama extended Medicare by at least 8 years and cut out most of the waste. No cost to any of us recipients. Ryans cut wish list is from the recipients.
So now we are HATERS if we don't vote for Obama. Pathetic!!

The only thing more disturbing than QUACKERY about "legitimate" rape not causing pregnancy, are those who prey upon the elderly with scams to steal from them. Hopefully most seniors know it is the Democrats who have and always will be the champions of Social Security and Medicare, and hopefully they will see through the Romney/Ryan scam.

I admit that made me laugh, but I was thinking it's because the elephant has a v****a that is used frequently; rode hard and put away wet.
Backhouse,
Obviously you don't read the fine print on contracts.
$300 Billion of the cuts comes from cutting the amounts paid to doctors and hospitals
$141 Billion comes from eliminating the Senior bridge insurance program.
I imagine the idea is for private companies to make money by offering a better plan than Medicare for cheaper. That in turn would reduce costs as companies competed to provide such a plan.
I don't know if it would work, but it's an interesting idea. As for the better Democrat plans, I haven't seen any yet because no one will put one out there. Proposing any sort of change to Medicare (or SS) is considered political death. I give Ryan and Wyden credit for at least trying.
keck wrote: "the jackass is raping the elephant." - That's legitmate rape of course, so we all don't have to worry about the creation of the worst political party that could come of that mistake!
For the comments about seniors being scared of Obamacare, I know at least a dozen relatives that are registered Republicans that will either not be voting or will be voting for Obama! Seniors don't like the sound of a voucher program, even if they will be effected or not!
My Predictions:
- It will be a close race (Bush/Kerry close)
- Obama will win a slight majority of swing states, and make gains in traditionally conservative states
- States with the biggest impact this time around; PA, VA, & NC
- There will definitely be a recount
- Romney not releasing his tax records will become his biggest mistake
- Obama ultimately wins

No, you're just HATERS regardless of whether you vote at all. Please refer to recent comment made by Hank Williams Jr.
AG99 -- Privatizing Medicare is the precise reason costs will continue to go up. Romneycare decreased premiums by 50%.
It's a good thing that Akin is not dropping out of the race. Why should he? He is the poster boy of everything that the GOP stand for: War against women. He has is best friend Paul Ryan running for Vice-President. I am sure that Ryan sooner or later will come to his assistance.
There is hurricane in the path of Florida. It would be so WONDERFUL to get poetic justice, and have all the GOP slammed with a hurricane during their sorry "convention", since they are such DENIERS of global warming.
Keep your fingers crossed!!! People will see Akin, and see the face of the GOP.

Death threat to a presidential candidate, real smart. Has no place here, regardless about how you feel about the person. State your case but have a little class even the other side disagrees.

Sure they say it won't affect me but if they get an inch they'll soon be taking a mile and I'll be the elephant along with the others as in GT's avitar. Only instead of the donkey it'll be the jackass Ryan and his pals that will be playing the jackass part.

I see the fascist liberals are out in force spreading their lies. It is Obama the stole $500,000,000,000 from seniors, there is no way around that and no way to excuse it. It was not his money, much as socialist liberals would like to think, it was earmarked for seniors.
Idiot Obama and his minions in congress want Medicare to go bankrupt, it's the only conclusion one can rationalize considering the don't want to change anything. Ryan, on the other hand is trying to save it. I have read the Ryan plan and those that say it hurts current or future seniors are pathetic liars. It's doing nothing that will rape seniors and that is what liberals support.
The very fact socialists fear him automatically wins Ryan my vote. We can't survive four more years of the Marxist in chief.
Wow, Ryan beats everybody else in being closer to Sarah Failin'???
Well, things are looking up for the Democrats.
I urge everyone on the fence about Romney to google "Sociopath".. He has a classic form of this characteristic.

Ron, I'm sorry to be in the same state as someone as stupid as you.
I have watched 3 Romney Ryan appearances so far. The last so called town hall meeting was like watching a very bad high school play or an infomercial. Everything was scripted from start to finish including the people asking the questions. All propaganda , sound bites and very bad jokes ,no specifics, with lines like " I'm going to give you good paying jobs" "I'm going to give you great health care" "I'm going to pay down the deficit" "I'm not going to pass any debt to your children and grandchildren". I couldn't find one true fact or specific in any of their carnival barking and yet their audiences acted like teenage girls at the first Beatles concert. These guys are Moronic corporate puppets, No wonder there's no bump. Intelligent people are passing on this freak show. The GOP has lost it's marbles and all rationale :o~~~~~
AG99, because of the liability to insurance companies that comes with insuring seniors, I would hardly think any private insurance companies would make money on seniors. That is why most seniors could not get insurance through private companies or good access to healthcare before Medicare was begun and why Medicare was started. Also, private companies have more expenses than Medicare with advertising, needing to make profits for investors, higher corporate-head salaries, etc. I would imagine with Ryan's second plan that offers Medicare, that Medicare may be the cheapest plan offered, because either private companies will raise their rates very high to still make a profit after the high cost of seniors' healthcare to them, or, worse yet, they will pass seniors' high expenses on to the younger people they insure. Ryan's healthcare plans are either disastrous to future seniors (as with his first bill/plan) or just make no sense (as with his second bill/plan).
Actually, Obama's is the only plan that does something to cut the cost of Medicare and healthcare and does it immediately as needed by cutting $400-$600 billion in 10 years to healthcare providers while not adding any expense to seniors. Many healthcare providers/hospitals are working on methods to reduce costs already. This is also the only incentive out there to help curb healthcare inflation by this reduction in Medicare payments to providers and by mandating insurance for most, thus reducing inflation in healthcare due to the costs of the unpaid bills of the huge percentage of uninsured.
I know of some people who are genuinely worried that Romney/Ryan may repeal all of ACA (particularly its measures that protect the consumer) except the mandate, because the Obama mandate is modeled after Romney's mandate in Massachusetts.
Well http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/ gives
the election over
“Romney, supposedly the Republican most electable next November, is a recidivist reviser of his principles (Flip Flopper) who is not only becoming less electable; he might damage GOP chances of capturing the Senate…

Sorry, when I first read the headline I thought it said "Voters SPIT on Ryan". A little mental slip there I'm afraid. But I digress....
Wow, what anemic numbers. Mitt has got to be having second thoughts. He didn't look all that pleased on August 12 when he announced Ryan as his running mate and I'll bet he's really worried now. These numbers are actually weaker than I thought they would be and I never thought they would be great.

The NY Times is a left held, well left stocked organization. Do you really think they would say anything different.
Ap just released a poll on RCP. Obama 47, Romney 46. They used 31% Democrats, Republicans 23%, and Independents 30%, 15% other? That's a 8 point democrat advantage, when the 2008 turnout was Democrats +6% and 2010 was +3%.
Me thinks a fix is in.
Valhalla
The number is actually per the CBO $741 Billion, but there is $15 Billion offset on something making the actual total $716 Billion.
The Biggest Savings $420 Billion by cutting the rates of payments to doctors and medical facilities. Nice cut seeing they are already paid less than the actual costs of services.
Second Biggest Savings $141 Billion by eliminating the popular Senior bridge insurance program. That program ends on October 1. The "smarter than you" Obama suddenly realized the program ended 1 month before the election so he took $30 Billion out of the Women's Contraception program to fund a new "temporary trial program" to replace the bridge program for a couple of months, so the senior vote would stay with Obama.
The remaining savings are from eliminating a few known expensive, ineffective treatments, eliminating alternate treatment choices that cost a little more, and believing they can eliminate some fraud.

Since no bump yet, I suspect the Ryan pick was a mistake. He did it to appease the far right much like McCain did when he picked Sarah Palin. Not a bright idea. Also Ryan appears genuine when he speaks and appears a likable guy in stark contrast to the next guy who appears on the stage. He makes Romney appear more plastic than ever. Not a good thing for Romney but a great thing for the Obama 2012 campaign.

There appeared to be no "Bump" because the left pollsters added 4 - 6 more points in democrats to the polls. On top of that they increased the number of African Americans about 3 points and decreased the "other Non-white" minorities by 6 points.
Here is a just in example of how a pollster can jade a poll results. PPP released poll on Akin and McCaskill.
Akins 44, McCaskill 43. To get that number, they used 37% Republicans, 30% Democrats.
I've never seen PPP do something like this to this kind of extents. They WHERE a poll that I used to rely on.
That may be, but he is MUCH BETTER than Paul Ryan. At least he does not want to make rape "legitimate"
If you don't know this, Paul Ryan co-signed a bill with Akins trying to pass legislation to change the meaning of the word "rape"
Of course, when women get raped is their fault, right???? That is what the Taliban and the people from the Middle East say. Next, the GOP is going to pass legislation to have women stoned in public places if they comitt adultery.
Don't know Missouri demographics however I trust PPP. They are usually on the money whatever their methodology is.
DB - Are you an Aiken supporter? I know you loved Santorum and I was just wondering how you feel about Aiken and his comments.
Wait until Ryan's DRACONIAN views on women's health issues become more widely known. You'll see the negative numbers sky rocket.
Reality is that Obama is not delivering on Jobs. Fed has very little control on woman's health issue. When Romney wants to get Government more and more our of personal issues, such micro views are much less relevant.
Libs simply want to focus on anything and everything to distract from Obama's failed economic policies ..... high unemployment, higher national debt and highest level of divisiveness in our country's history.
It looks like "Hope and Change" has become Reality Check for Dems, and they are running from it !
GODGRAVITON
1. Obama has been fought every step of the way by the entire Republican Congress, with the notable exception of Sen. Snow (who is leaving the senate which effectively ends the era of moderate Republicans).
2. When you say the Fed has very little control on women's health issues you must be referring to the Federal Reserve, in which case you would be correct. If on the other hand you are referring to the Federal Government consisting of the Executive, Judicial and Legislative branches...you are either ignorant or completely out of your mind! Those who: 1) pass and fund the laws...2) enact and enforce the laws...3) validate and preside over the laws ...have little control? ...really? It seems to me Roe v. Wade had a huge effect and pissed off a whole lot of conservatives because they couldn't prevent American Women from obtaining abortions. So I guess I'm not really clear as to how you define "very little control".
GODGRAVITON - what a totally absurd post. The Fed has little control over women's issues? What planet are you living on? In what world????
Obama/Biden 2012 Because idiots like GODGRAVITON don't have a clue!
So now it's government's role to "deliver jobs." I thought that's what we gave tax cuts to the "job creators" in the private sector to do.
Reality Check
Although Ryan is Pro-Life, he is not a pure as you assume he is about that.
Why are you blaming Obama? The "job creators" have enormous tax deductions, and I do not see them "Trickle down" the benefit to anybody else.
The Government is only S**T when the Republicans decide that the economy is going to the toilet, but you NEVER blame Wall Street and the greedy people like Mitt Romney. People like Mitt Romney is one of the REASONS why we are in financial turmoil.
Irespond
You also never see what taxes you really pay, because the corporations and businesses pay them directly to the government, and add the cost to the prices. What you understand even less is that you are really the one paying the taxes.
obama 45%
romney 47%
gallup
keck,
National polls are worthless.
POLITICO Electoral Map
Obama = 332
Romney = 206
http://www.politico.com/2012-election/swing-state/?hp=f3
you bet.
Dennis,,, keck only hears and believes what he wants to.
Dennis, I've seen you use the national polls frequently.
Second, The Gallup number is spelling trouble to Obama. It is done on Registered voters. What that means is the one on top has a better chance of winning. It means the get out the vote machine is going to have trouble because of a smaller pool is favorable to them.
BTW. In 60, 30 & 15 day cut-offs for polls, Obama wins. 30 & 60 days are nearly identical. 15 day obama's lead begins to disapear. In just the last 20 days, Romney wins, and that still includes some polls that are stuffing the polls with over represented democrat respondents.
Where are your links ??
Where is your proof ??
I do NOT use national polls on the Presidental race after it becomes two way race. I use it on many other issues.
Rip Roarin Roman Catholic Ryan is a "Do Nothing" Congressman, whose approval rating is 12%!
like joe biden
Just to update you, Biden is the current Vice President & Ryan is a CURRENT "Do Nothing" Congressman. Ryan's limited Accounting & Financial Management skills are what he has acquired from his B.A. degree majoring in Political Science - budgeting is not his forte.
but he is catholic too
right ?
Budgeting sure as hell is not Obama's forte now is it ? The U.S. is in the 4th year of Obama's financial debacle with the debt rising and never a vote for Obama's lame budget proposals !
Did Obama ever have a course in basic accounting ? Does he even KNOW what a budget is and what it is designed to do ? $5 trillion additional national debt and NO BUDGETS from Bam-Bam.
but he is catholic too
Keck - Better than that. He's a Catholic deer hunter!
Still trying to rewrite history I see. Let's see, what was the "official" year marking the beginning of the economic disaster? ...oh yes, 2007. Who was President? Are you trying to tell us the economy went to hell overnight because Obama was running for President? Tell me Jim, how much of that $5 trillion is the cost of two wars (Bush kept off the books), Medicare Part D (unfunded), and his notorious tax cuts primarily for the wealthy (also unfunded)? And by the way, since when was it OK with Republicans to spend "unfunded" monies? Oh yes...since Ronald Reagen, and reinforced by Dick Cheney (remember "You know, Paul, Reagan proved deficits don't matter. We won the midterms."
Bob
In most generic ballot polls, the republicans are ahead, especially when the people polled actually reflect the mix of people who actually vote.
I do not always agree with Ryan. However I think he is a good choice. He is dynamic, willing to take challenge, hard working, courageous and people person. He is good in his speeches and does not go hyper like Bidden.
Obama gave good speeches and won election. However his relations with all other leaders including his own party are virtually non existent. President who is not willing to establish good communication, whether people agree or not, cannot make healthy decisions and often cannot make any decisions. On International stage also Obama is not good communicators.
Presidents power is persuasion, understanding that all law makers are elected and part of decision making process. Obama is more aloof and well suited to autocratic rule than Democratic institutions of dialogue. Obama also has difficulties understanding many issues and his willingness to delegate on whole sale basis is not beneficial for the good legislation.
This is one of those blatantly false statements that you people pick up on Faux Noize and repeat, Goebbels-like, until people start to believe them.
Obama "made NO effort to involve the Republicans?" Did I imagine that while Obama was literally in the car on his way to meet with House Republicans to discuss the stimulus, Boehner circulated a memo instructing his members to vote against it?
Was the WH's forbearance for months while waiting for the bipartisan "Gang of Six" to come up with a health-care reform compromise a dream?
What a recent book revealed about GOP pollster Frank Luntz organizing an inauguration-day dinner of Republican party leaders that produced a pact to oppose and obstruct everything Obama did HOURS AFTER HE WAS SWORN IN? No, I didn't imagine any of these events.
Party always comes first for you people. You are a disgrace.
Backstabbing:
Martin Luther Kind did nto become effective leader with excuses.
This is not like white people own black man Presidency who gives excuses instread of leadership.
If you cannot lead, get the hell out.
Backstabbing Tea Party,
After reading your posts, I think I LOVE YOU! ;))
Keep up the good work, you leave me little to add.
Obama 2012, Let's Stay Together! Hillary 2016!
GODGRAVITON - Come on, you're Concern aren't ya? Same posting style, everything. I'm pretty sure you have the same 1/4 brain. Admit it!
Obama/Biden 2012
Backstabbing Tea Party -
You do know the Republican leadership's prime directive, right? Know your Goebbels, feed your Goebbels". That's what Rupert Murdoch is for.
English not really your primary language I take it. Anyway I agree he could have shown greater leadership by exposing the "Anti-American" agreements made by the Republican members of Congress... had them declared enemies of the United States for as providing material aid to the enemy (bin Laden swore to bankrupt the US) ...and had them summarily rounded up for extraordinary rendition.
Now that's leadership vs his unsuccessful outreach efforts.
If they're split on Ryan that leaves dems at 75%
Reading is not your strong suit, is it ? Besides, the VP is secondary to who will be President and lucky for you ..... because Biden is a moron producing frequent gaffes !
Ryan proposes shifting money from the poor, the disabled and the elderly to the wealthy. His own church called his proposal IMMORAL.
Therman--since we have increased government assistance in 70 programs to over a trillion dollars and have the highest level of poverty since the great depression and unemployment among the poor and minorities is much higher than the overall unemployment rate, I would hope we would cut assistance. We have already proven that the last 4 years under Obama havent been very good for this group, so wouldnt you think that Obama would be proposing cuts too as he thinks his economic policies would start working for them? Explain to me what Ryan would do to this group that could be worse than what Obama has done the last 4 years?
Kirk-2957282
My God Kirk, why didn't I think of that? If we starve the poor, the unemployed, the elderly, underprivileged children...just think of the money we can save and invest in Wall Street. Now it will be inconvenient to have to step over their bodies but let's face it, we really don't have to go through "that" part of town....my God man...send the servants.
Sing along with me now "Happy days are here again, the skies above are clear again..."
Weren't they looking for a "master race" in Germany around the 1930s and 40s? Eliminate those who cannot serve the fatherland Arbeit Macht Frei, ja?
The real test will come in the VP debates. Biden is a great debater, but I don't know how Ryan would do. Palin was NOT good at debating if memory serves. Also, in the last debate, Biden had the upper-hand with a VERY disliked President at the end of his term. It will be interesting as I don't know if Biden will come off as likeable when compared to Ryan.
Romney could pick Abraham Lincoln and it wouldn't help him. He's a terrible candidate with no agenda other than "trust me, I'm not Obama." Had the Citizens United decision gone the way it should have, these guys would be lucky to win Idaho.
One problem, Abraham Lincoln couldn't be elected as a Republican today...nor could Teddy Roosevelt...nor Ronald Reagan....
Romney is a sociopath who will say and do anything to get what he wants.
Keck...... you are just trying to be funny. Hehe , because I know that you know that Ryan sucks. And the old people are not scare of the President, because he has done good thing from seniors. So it's time to get serious. Ryan is not a good pick. His record speaks for self. Plus he is from the party of NO, that wants to change the country back to the 19 century......
i did not say seniors are scared because obama is black.
...i said seniors are scared sh!tless of what obamacare does to their medicare.
.
.
i like ryan. i like his faith. i like his budget. i like his ideals. i like the fact that folks like you cant stand him....and lies and sayd things like "wants to change the country back to the 19 century" . i like the fact you have to lie about him.
next you will be saying ryan hates black people. lol
OK Keck, let's hear it. Beyond going after Medicare fraud by hospitals and clinics, de-funding a public/private drain on medicare funds (Medicare Plus) and ending the drug doughnut hole saving seniors on average $700 each this year; what exactly has Obama done to their Medicare?
Keck - You're a doofus and have nothing of value to add to the conversation. Most of all, if someone in your past told you that you were funny, I don't believe they thought you were humorous.
Actually we seniors find Medicare strenghtened under Obamacare and that Obamacare helps our kids and grandkids afford healthcare. I have a daughter with a preexisting condition that would prevent her from getting affordable insurance before Obamacare, now she has insurance and she can easily afford it. I can afford my suppliment insurance for my Medicare. If Ryan gets his way my supplimental insurance will be way out of reach and the insurance companies will be the only ones getting fat and sassy.
Yes indeed. Let's bring back the good old days of the Grand Ole Party, when women were legally forced to give birth as if they were cattle.
My god man, don't say that out loud. They will start sending women to the slaughter houses just to prove you wrong.
If your not the ten percent and vote GOP then your not voting your best interest.
The economy may not be the most vigorous but the DOW is up more than 6000 points since Obama's watch. Why aren't the GOPers faulting that? It's your pension that has grown since most companies put money in funds.
the dow may be up to 13,000
...but americans are still losing 350,000 jobs a month
163,000 jobs added in July 2012. 29 consecutive months of job growth.
http://money.cnn.com/news/economy/storysupplement/obama_jobs_timeline/?iid=EL
Re-elect:
If you have a leaky bucket , you need to put more than leaks out.
Obama has not done it. People giving up looking for a job is not a solution AMerica can be proud of.
Yeah its almost like Obama is only benefiting the 1 percent because his policies for the poor and middle class and minorities sure havent been working unless his goal is to create a permanent entitlement state and generational welfare. Oh I thought that was what the GOP is accused of doing.
People giving up looking for a job is not the same as, "americans are still losing 350,000 jobs a month."
The economy has been adding jobs every month for the past 29 months.
we still lost 350,000 in july
...creating just 160,000 jobs....while losing 350,000 is not adding jobs.
...is it.
How many jobs did we gain during the last months of the last Republican administration...uh...oh, that's right, we were loosing 750,000 jobs per month. How many manufacturing jobs were gained under the last Republican administration? Oops sorry again, we lost 2.7 million manufacturing jobs. Yep, let's hire a Republican who really knows how to take a business apart and sell off the pieces.
You people act like the President has some sort of magic wand that he waves and says presto and jobs are created. That is ridiculous. Congress needs to pass legislation that gives breaks to companies that bring jobs back from off shore, that hire in green technology and who hire veterans. Cuts alone nor increases in taxation alone will not solve the debt problem. We need an increase in revenue and a decrease in spending including Pentagon spending. There are jets they don't want and ships they don't want but we're spending the money anyway because it is pork for some Congressperson's district. A few extra bucks won't hurt the wealthy, inentives to hire won't hurt eithr. Trickle down has been tried for 30 years and it DOES NOT WORK. Okay so we tried it, some bought into it because they were sold the bill of goods by the "great communicator" and they believed him. No problem, people are often duped. Look at Congress being duped by Dubya in the lies they were told to get us into an unfunded, unnecessary war. It happens. So now we learn from our mistakes and move on. Making the same mistakes over and over again and expecting different results is stupid. So let's try something new. Lets raise revenues and cut spending. If that doesn't work we'll try something else. One thing for sure is tricle down doesn't work. Oh, and greed is NOT good.
Paul Ryan and Todd Akin cosponsored H.R. 3, attempting to redefine rape.
http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2011/04/redefine-rape-hr-3-abortion-stealth
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/hr3/text
Re-elect:
I am not getting pregnant and my daughter is well trained. Those are individual responsibility and not Government. In Illinois it is going to make no difference.
Rapes happen, period. H.R. 3 would have been Federal law applying to all states if it had passed.
Really? You've trained your daughter? To what, not get raped?
ROFLMAO...good luck with that.
Everytime the GOP-Teaparty Express gets moving it blows another tire...By election day it will be in a ditch ! The only chance (and it is slim) that Mitch has is to abandon the GOP with their Dark Ages mentality and go Independent
Freedom:
I do not own stock but do own small business.
Beleive me, Government did not build my business. I have worked all my life 75 hour week. I do not watch clock and punch out. I work American way, work to make myself something.
I put myself through college working 96 hours week in summer. Obama got his paid. He thinks diffferently.
Good for you but you probably didn't build the roads, bridges leading to your place of business. You didn't build the water system or you didn't build a police force that provides protection to your business. Did you?
That's all that Obama was saying. He is not against small business and you probably are not making a profit of over 250K so your taxes will not be affected by his tax plan. So why bitch?
Explain how you built a business with absolutely no involvement of government.
It's admirable that you worked to put yourself through school. However, there is nothing wrong with earning scholarships, and grants and taking loans that you pay off later.
...and my cousin protects your business from theft.
...and my brother protects your business from fire.
...and I protected your family, home and business from foreign invasion for over 20 years.
...and someone else built the roads you go to your business on and transport your goods over.
...and someone teaches your children at a school so one day they can inherit your business.
...and your taxes, my taxes and everyone else paid taxes to provide all of this and much more.
...you do not live in a vacuum, get over yourself.
Ryan's Mother is not worried about Medicare...her son is worth $4.5 million !!!
So what is the Chuck Todd/MSNBC gurus trying to tell us with these polls. All the ones with high likely to vote for results were not elected and those with the lowest likely to vote for won. HMMMM!
Not to mention the ones with the best likely vs. unlikely had a mistress during his campaing, abandoned his wife and then tried to buy off the trouble when it all came to light.
Ryan was a horrible pick and only played to the extreme conservative base. In addition, Romney is so very much dislike by the American people because he has lied on a continuous basis and has not shown leadership. Ryan is the extreme radical conservative. Ryan is the true picture that Tom Akin represent. Romney/Ryan is the wrong persons to lead the America people because they do not represent all of America. They only represent the rich.
No one should be surprised with this poll. 1. Ryan's budget will dessimate the middle class - it will take money away from EPA, Education, Medicare/Medicaid and give it to the rich, 2. He scores badly with womean vote because of his position on rape and other women's health issues (such as contraceptives), 3. He would want to privatize social security, 4. He doesn't believe in giving a helping hand to the poor and under-priviledged (no food stamps, no aid of any kind to the poor (fend for yourself), no low interest loans for college education. He comes from a rich family and doesn't believe in giving any aid for people to pull their bootstraps.
AJ:
During Obama rule average middlecalss lost 4000 dollars in wages per year.
That is lot more than reduction in taxes they will get.
GG - Correction
The median income/yr dropped from 49,600 to 45,800 (a drop of 3800) in last THREE years due to recession and not becasue of Obama.
Oh lord AJ, don't feed her facts.
Remember Republican campaign rule #8: "If you can't attack the message, attack the messenger".
Dock:
Even democrats agree that President has not shown any leadership on any issue. He has just taken actions to help his re-election.
But economy, jobs, health care..just not good record. The Friedman who supported Obama in 2008 says Obama solutions are sub-par.
http://obamaachievements.org/
The President is not a dictator, he can only sign bills into law. If you feel that the solutions have been sub-par, it is because they have been watered down by Republicans in Congress whenever possible or simply blocked by filibusters.
Obviously you don't actually know any Democrats. You might have one or two working for you but you probably don't know them well enough to actually talk to them. But then they're employees, why would you talk to them?
By the way, both Romney and Ryan are supply-siders. Now perhaps your business doesn't need domestic demand to thrive, or perhaps you cater only to the wealthy...I don't know, but I do know "trickle-down" economics doesn't work. The only thing that trickles down to the middle class is yellow, wet and warm...doesn't smell nice either.
But i tell you, it isn't such a good note to start out soooo far behind the sarah in favorability. It might have been sarah's tenna fey eyeglasses. Her sense of vulnerability. Everybody would be pulling for her to succeed. Like when she was shooting at the moose in alaska. Bam. And the moose was still there. Like nothing happened. Bam. The same thing. Ok. High powered rifle again on the sandbags. Rifle reloaded by the standby hunters. Sarah took aim again and bam. The moose finally rolled over. Wow. It just goes to show. That if you try and try. Never give up. Anybody can do anything. And the moose or caribou. Said to be the very first to give its life for a presidential campaign.
