CARNIEGE, Pa. -- At a steel manufacturer in Western Pennsylvania Tuesday, Congressman Paul Ryan took some swipes at President Obama, serving up red meat on guns and religion and even Joe the Plumber and "spread the wealth."
“Hey, I’m a Catholic deer-hunter," Ryan said at Beaver Steel just outside Pittsburgh. "I am happy to be clinging to my guns and my religion."
The comments the presumptive GOP vice-presidential nominee made referenced remarks Obama made on the campaign trail back in 2008.
“You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," Obama said then speaking at a San Francisco fundraiser four year ago. "And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are going to regenerate, and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
Making his debut in the Keystone State today, Ryan -- an avid Green Bay Packers fan -- came out waving a Pittsburgh Steelers' "Terrible Towel” as he entered the venue with more than 2,000 people in attendance and proclaimed his passion for football.
“Wow. You know, these things are intimidating on TV,” Ryan admitted about the gold towel he then placed in his back pocket.
Steelers owner Dan Rooney, by the way, is currently serving as President Obama's ambassador to Ireland.
Speaking in front of a large “We did build IT!” sign, the seven-term congressman also gave the crowd another 2008 flashback, telling the crowd about Joe the Plumber.
“You know, every now and then President Obama sort of drops his veil," Ryan said. "He’s less coy about his philosophy. He sort of reveals his true governing policy, what he really believes. Remember back in 2008, remember the guy Joe the Plumber? Remember when he said, you know, ‘We wanna spread the wealth around’? It’s this belief that the economy is some fixed pie, that there’s only just so much money in America, it’s fixed, and that the job of the government is to redistribute the slices of the pie. That’s not true.”
These lines from Ryan on President Obama’s 2008 campaign are new to the congressman’s stump speech.

You tell em Paulie!
Let's bring the phony plumber into the debate!
You know the guy whose running for Congress on the promise of opening fire on our borders...
Are you sure you want to go there? lol
How about you explain co-authoring your extremist legislation with Akin instead of hollering about guns & bibles!
Dayum this *popcorn* is extra tasty today!
Ryan is making sure that your money keeps shifting to the top.
And the only thing "intimidating" on TV:
Are the serial whoppers being told by the ROMNEY CAMPAIGN about welfare, ads that have never been shown or endorses by the President -
And the very big Ryan lie about Medicare.
Romney and Ryan are the ones planning on decimating ALL of your safety nets.
"Paulie" LOL. Adrianne's loser brother.
Notice what the little tea-bagger isn't talking about?

I can't even comment on this bull@!$%#!
ROTFLMFAO
O&Joe 2012
Ha, make sure everyone knows he's catholic and a hunter? When should we expect the photo of Ryan in camouflage sporting a hunting rifle over his shoulder? Or maybe he and Mitt will have a group photo while hunting small "varmints".
The Catholic Church publically scolded Paul Ryan for casting aside the teachings of the Bible to worship the selfish atheist Ayn Rand. Now Ryan claims he really didn't get his "values" from her, that his beliefs weren't influenced by her.

Will some please answer why conservatives allow wimps and pussies to lead them? You know politicians who exhort us with their super patriot drivel and yet never serve their country in any capacity? The same people who give us the false narrative that all democrats are lazy, on welfare and want to let the gubment to take care of us from the cradle to the grave.Just askin!
Guns and religion - Paul Ryan's vision of a perfect marriage except for him being a popgun toting False Christian.
Hey, I’m a Catholic deer-hunter," Ryan said at Beaver Steel just outside Pittsburgh. "I am happy to be clinging to my guns and my religion."
Is there a difference between a Catholic deer hunter and deer hunters of other religions?

Jody,
Paul Ryan says he is a Catholic, yet is hounded at every turn by Catholic nuns, clergy, and even called out by Pope Benedict:
For his cruel budget that aggregiously hurts the middle class, low-income and poor in America.
Is there a difference between a Catholic deer hunter and deer hunters of other religions?
Deer hunters from other religions would shoot pedophiles...
My avatar now accurately reflects me in real life.
Maybe Joe the Plumber should go to the convention.
Those folks are so full of $h!t, they're gonna need somebody to unclog the toilets!
Ryan doesn't seem to be interested in broadening his appeal, does he? He is still plumbing the depths of the ideological cesspool in which the right wing lunatic fringe resides and at the same time he is alienating the rest of America. No wonder he brought up Joe the Plumber.
Hey Paul, I bet you that my gun is bigger than yours... And I know that my religion is more moral and the correct religion...
We all have our guns and religion... Just not all the same...
Joe the plumier and religion, Nah... I don't buy it...
Teaparty Low IQ--and what job did Obama have in the private sector before we mistakenly thought he had the skills and experience to be president? What am I missing about your point that also doenst apply to Obama?
Paul Ryan easily invoked guns, religion and Joe the Plumber after making sure everyone passed through a metal detector at the gate.
Backhouse--is it really possible to hurt the poor, middle class and low income more than Obama has over the last 4 years? Have you actually researched the poverty statistics since he took office, the number of people on food stamps, unemployment in the minority community. How is it possible that Ryan could do any more damage than the current president and his economic policies? You want 4 more years of that?
That would be the recession.
First off, what economic policies in particular?
I have to say the Libs are out in force today. I don't see anything wrong on what Ryan said. NBC is home to the libs, so they rule here.
Of course you would see a slant to the left here, just like you would see a slant to the right on FOX.
So some where in the middle we have the truth. I will keep posting here even if I'm the only one against this worshipers of mere Humans.
Anybody seen the latest polls? or is today batch the other party day?
Kirk-2957282 you wont get an answer to your questions because they don't like facts. And anyway they will blame everything on Bush.
Away from the circus of gotcha politics there are some interesting trends in the polls that have come out today. Like Obamas surge in the national polls a couple of weeks ago there seems to be no discrete reason for these polls except for the selection of Ryan.
Obama/Gillibrand are crushing the Republicans in New York but that's not really a surprise; Gillibrand is the best senator in the tri-state area. But the other races are surprising. I still think Chuck Todd is right on the Brown/Warren race. Apparently Brown needs 300,000 Obama voters to switch. I think that's a bridge too far.
Seriously? First off, clinging to weapons. Second off, making campaign [more] about Christianity while running for office in a country that is supposed to be "hands-off" of religion. Third off....seriously?
Hey Alan, you can link polls, but can you link me justification for Ryan basing his "plan" off thirty years of proven failed economic policies? I saw you never got back to me earlier. After all, "it's all about the economy".
The Republican Tea Bag party continues to dumb down America.
Holy Crap! The only thing he left out was Gays!
Need to fix the economy ... call Joe the plumber.
need to create jobs ... call Joe the plumber
Need home schooling with a bible ... call Joe the plumber
Need an after hours red State abortion ... call Joe the plumber
Need plumbing work done ... consult the yellow pages.
What specific policies have failed? The stimulus didn't work and along with QE1/2 Keynesian Theory has been pretty much discredited. The fact that productivity has surged in the last 30 - 40 years, along with the introduction of China to the world labor force has had more to do with the current situation than any fiscal polices implemented by the US government over the last 30 years.
The problem is neither party has an answer to this.
Go read this article and then get back to me with a policy that will create good paying jobs for millions.
BTW I see the California Legislature has passed a law that farm workers can only work 8 hours a day / 40 hours a week before they get overtime. Laudable as their intentions are, it brings the cost of implementing automation closer to replacing manual labor.
Luddites of the world unite?
Need a know nothing Tea Bagging Dumb Ass??? Call joe the plumber.
This is where I stopped reading, although I will admit I glanced further on and saw nothing but unsubstantiated rhetoric. The stimulus did exactly what it was supposed to do, along with "cash for clunkers", etc. : it put money into the pockets of consumers (mostly the middle class). When the middle class has money to spend, they drive demand. This is why the job losses ground to a halt after the stimulus and such programs were implemented, and this is why the GOP House instantly put its foot down and the GOP members of the Senate began to filibuster any additional programs. They saw the bleeding had stopped and they were scared.
Now you think Obama has failed because the economy hasn't roared to life. However you, like many other posters on this board, seemingly fail to grasp that it is the legislative branch that passes bills.
Oh noes! We are letting farm workers get overtime like the rest of the country...such a travesty!

Indeed, the republican/t-bangers are hard at work making up stuff.
For decades it has been accepted that Roe v Wade with the Hyde Amendment is the undisputed law of the land. Even Romney once said he would not try to change this legal precedence, and most Americans including the religious-Right saw exceptions in the case of rape/incest or putting the life of the mother at risk.
Then I started hearing more and more social conservatives saying there can be no exceptions. I thought maybe they were trying to be *pure* in their belief that abortion is murder. But now we learn it is because of a history of QUACKERY. There has been a conspiracy theory/urban legend/old wives tale or whatever you want to call it pseudo-science that women who are traumatized by "forced" rape are physically incapable of getting pregnant. This is on par with girls using peanut butter for contraception, except these are adults—adults in positions of power!
Who knows how many Republicans currently in office, or running for office, embrace this QUACKERY, but we as a society, as a nation, must put an end to such damaging ignorance--especially root it out of the mainstream and government leadership positions. It's bad enough to try to use such BS to attack women’s rights, but it is beyond words if a person actually believes such BS.
When the true weight of this craziness struck the core of my soul, I found it so profoundly disturbing -- It is difficult to wrap my head around it.
Batcrap Bachmann advocated that the news media should do a "penetrating expose" to determine how many members of Congress were "anti-American." Well the media and American voters need to do an investigation to ferret out any person holding office or running for office who believes a woman can't become pregnant if "legitimately" raped. This is so beyond the pale of acceptable behavior, it can't be left to stand in any part of this country.
The National Right to Life Committee awarded Paul Ryan a 100% rating. Both Romney and Paul Ryan have supported “personhood" legislation, with Ryan advocating NO exceptions. Romney has advocated over-turning Roe v Wade and leaving the matter to the states -- We are talking civil rights, which are a Federal Government matter!
The first thing that needs to be done is to send all Republicans packing in this election. The second thing that needs to be done is to replace the Republicans and any male with a Democrat female where ever possible. Enough of men like Akin trying to dictate what women's right should be. If they want an amendment it should be that MEN no longer have any say in what women can or cannot do--especially misogynists like Todd Akin and all the other jagoffs in the Republican Party from Paul Ryan and Romney right down the line.
I can't hear anything Romney/Ryan says because Romney can't pass GO until he releases eight (8) full years tax returns like President Obama!
Seems Ryan loves him some Joe the P:

So, Little Paulie is purposely tying himself to this idiot? Nail meet Coffin.
The GOP knows they have no freaking chance for the 2012 presidency, as they continue to "stick their hand in the propeller blades".
And Mr. Priebus is now saying that the "GOP platform 'not the platform of Mitt Romney'"? Ok, so...help me out here...just who is it that's "going rogue"...Romney or Ryan?
And with friends like Akin, who needs enemies:
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/todd-akins-rape-comments-repercussions-mitt-romney/story?id=17042555
Little Paulie is emerging as the proverbial boat anchor.
Romney has this deep seated desire to "has presidency", but is he following the GOP's stance? Is he following Little Paulie's stance? Or is Little Paulie going to "go rogue" and undermine Romney even more than he is doing now?
Ryan / Romney = Palin / McCain
How hard is it to borrow money to create government jobs? Greece did it for about a decade. In fact their main method of reducing unemployment was to increase the number of "good" government jobs. These jobs included superb benefits including retirement around 60. Now with all this demand created by these government jobs why did the Greek economy not take off and become self-sustaining? Why did these jobs require additional borrowing such that when the cost of borrowing became too much the jobs had to go?
You claim I post unsubstantiated rhetoric, but the results are out there. When the stimulus money ran out at the end of 2010 the government jobs could no longer be supported. The purpose of the stimulus was to kick-start the economy such that tax revenues would be able to sustain the jobs created, or saved, by the borrowed money. This did not happen, its an empirical fact. I believe that Keynesian is a pretty good theory. It just didn't work in this example. However, there are many other factors involved including the ones I stated like increasing productivity and foreign competition.
I don't treat the economy as win/lose for my side. If the economy is booming it's great for me and I can retire earlier and do more of the things that I want to do. If it sucks I suffer as well. My main concern is the amount we are borrowing and what will happen when China has to develop internal demand to maintain its level or growth. At that point the borrowing spigot will run dry and as we saw during the debt ceiling debate if we can't borrow the Federal Government will simply keel over taking most of the states and cities with it, regardless of who sits in the White House.
BTW On the farmers. I love the way politicians think they can legislate an increase in wages without the demand being there to support it. If the cost of labor rises and the supply stays the same then demand will drop. So the end result of this action will be that less labor will be employed. Next time they could legislate that gravity should be 8ms2 to make lifting less work.
Well certainly drag out Joe the Plumber. After all, he did SO well for McCain/Palin. Could Romney/Ryan look and dumber?
Wait, let's have Akin as a keynote speaker. That should just fit right in!
These two clowns couldn't lead anyone, anywhere. How low the GOP has sunk!
Obama/Biden 2012
First off, Obama didn't borrow the money; Congress did, as per the Constitution. Secondly, I don't see how investment in infrastructure and tax incentives to corporations, to name a few of the provisions of the stimulus, creates "artificial demand of government jobs". Perhaps you can elaborate on that, because it looks to me like you are still spewing babble.
Paul Ryan, you cling to your guns and religion, and you go right ahead and cling to your lying POS record too.
From the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities:
"We want this debate. We need this debate. And we will win this debate." Obama/Biden - 2012!
A very flippant answer. So Obama is responsible for nothing? It's all congress? OK have it your way and debate only those who agree with your view. I take we have nothing else to talk about?
CYA.
I guess you don't like it when you get corrected on the Constitutional powers of the Legislative Branch...
Seems as though a civil war is brewing in a 2nd class third world nation. United States of America only this time it will be Republican VS Democrat.
I have never seen such political mental illness in my life this is very very sad for our country and i would be surprised if we survive it reguardless of who is elected
Only because its a complete distraction from the core of the argument. We both know the stimulus was the Administration's policy but if you want to play games and say it was congress then you just illustrate how irrelevant Obama was in his first two years. I guess I can now call the ACA Pelosicare.
So try constructing an argument that isn't fundamentally flawed.
Why should I bother when you don't?
You just throw out infantile slogans and irreverent questions. You have no interest in having a substantial debate. Go back to the gotcha politics.
How about clinging to the facts, Rep. Ryan? You have said Ayn Rand inspired you to study economics. Her Godless philosophy mocks "the meek shall inherit the earth". Hers is a mandate for people to fight like animals over the carcass of a kill, like the rich sucking the lifeblood out of the middle class. Paying them less and loaning them more. The strongest will get more and the weak shall perish.
Now Paul Ryan says he did not know she was an atheist as he publicly clings to his Catholism while privately formulating economic policy based on Ayn Rand.
The core of your argument seems to be that you want President Obama to take the blame for everything, even the things over which he exerts no authority. There is a word for people like you...let's see, now...Uninformed? Ignorant? Blindly self-deluded? Dishonest? Hmmm. I'm going with all of them.
Since when did deer start going to Catholic church?
How can he blamed when never takes responsibility? He is irrelevant. Has there ever been a more impotent President. So using your argument the borrowing of the 80's were not the responsibility of Reagan but actually the Democratic Congress of the era.
Taking the comments above he is not responsible for the stimulus, borrowing, healthcare reform or banking reform. That was congress.
My actual argument was that the policies of both parties do not address the issues affecting the economy, but if you don't understand that then go back to writing your small minded name-calling comments. You have risen to the highest level you will ever achieve. A name calling bigot.
Do folks remember Sarah Palin (and McCain) being the first to put Joe the Plumber on the stage with them? Joe the Plumber, who after one second of speaking proves he barely has a fifth-grade level of knowledge about anything? It's interesting that Paul Ryan thinks doing things Sarah Palin did will help him get votes. Wow.
Kathy-467503 -- Good-un, LMAO. And the "small varmints, if you will" are Mormon.
Where are the tax returns?!!!
The same brainless libs are the first ones on here (as usual). You people? need to move away from your screens once in a while. I'll bet your refrigerator is within arms reach. If you were to move once in a while you might lose an ounce or two. Feisty, I can only imagine. 300? 400? More? Ever heard of a job? Are you people first generation welfare or second, third or fourth? SO SAD.
"guns and religion" aint that america? for you and me
Xabre - If Obama is not responsible for the last 3 1/2 years when it comes to spending then I guess George Bush isn't responsible for spending from 2000 - 2008. But if your going to blame Congress for spending I guess we can blame the Dems for the mess were in since they have been in charge since 2006 and the spending has only slowed down since they lost the house in 2010.
So Ryan's policy for leading America forward is to cling to guns and religion.
Now that sounds a whole lot like some Ayatollah's, so maybe he's a secret Muslim.
"The Massive Hidden Safety-Net Cuts in Chairman Ryan's Budget":
http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=3716
he's majorly busted.
So I guess those Bush tax cuts never trickled down to those PA towns. So you and Romney have some kind of super-secret mystical tax cuts for the wealthy that will work this time. And the Joe the Plumber strategy worked really well for McCain too. Talk about doubling down on stupid.
Not sure which is worse doubling down on stupid or doubling down on 4 more years just like we had? Tough call if you ask me. By the way, who do you think is paying for all the current government services provided in those PA towns? I guess Clinton's version of trickle down worked pretty well, I would be happy for Obama to go back to that. Oh thats right, thats pretty much the GOP economic platform.
I'd heard Republicans were talking up Bill Clinton, trying to drive a wedge among Democrats, I guess. Tricky, though, since Hillary Clinton has proved masterful as Secretary of State and the credit for hiring her goes...to President Obama.
Clinton raised taxes - No trickle required & the economy grew. Think first - type second!
Sorry Tim, but he didnt. The economy took off after he lowered the capital gains tax and provided additional incentives within the code for investment. Yes he raised the highest bracket while reducing the number of people subject to AMT, kept the R&D tax credit and dramatically reduced the capital gains tax spurring investment into the internet sector and watched the economy roar. Next time you research before you reply. The highest amount of government revenue in absolute dollars and a percentage of GDP came after he lowered the capital gains rate. The second highest amount came after Bush enacted the Bush tax cuts.
You sure it wasn't Clinton's lowering of interest rates?
Clinton did effectively lower taxes on the wealthy to spur investment and create economic growth. That is what works, always has always will. Look a the republican economic plan and compare to Clintons, they are very simular.
Xabre - your new look is exactly the way many of us feel reading the stupidity of the far right on here. They have no leadership - their GOP platform won't even be Romney's - and they want to lead the country.
Obama/Biden 2012
Hey Kirk give us some solid stats/facts of the Republican platform please. What platform? The opposite of whatever Obama says or does................that doesn't work for me. BECAUSE much of what Obama has done is what the Republicans supported at one time or the other. The Repuclicans have become a bunch of pathetic whining losers................
Bush's tax cut for the wealthy infused the government with cash???? What? How exactly did that happen? Are you out of your freaking mind? I guess they invested in themselves - right?
Xabre--interest rates are lowered by the fed and stayed relatively constant during Clinton's term but no it was the lowering of the capital gains tax rate. You really need to stop listening to all of this liberal BS rhetoric and read what Alan wrote. The GOP didnt have failed economic policies over the last 30 years we had various economic cycles after recessions in which both Reagan and Clinton did very well getting the engine cranking. Both lowered tax rates and created incentives for the private sector to grow and add jobs and also increased rates as the economy could sustain the drag to earnings. Obama is doing the opposite and using government assistance and short term entitlement spending as his main method of trying to grow the economy. Stop blaming one side of the political aisle over another as they both are bad at different times and this concept that Obama is a panacea has already been proven wrong over the last 4 years
Pass the BS, google government tax revenue starting the years after the Bush tax cuts. Very simple and it may surprise you. Thats the problem with believing progressive web sites, and listening to MSNBC you may start believing wrong facts. Bush's biggest problems were spending not revenue. Two wars, prescription drug plan etc and he clearly busted the budget.
Not to mention that "Joe the Plumber's ASSistant" started his conversation with Obama with an outright lie "I make more than $250,000 and paying more taxes will hurt my business" while making $40,000 per year. He could have made $260,000 in income and only paid $300 more in taxes. As it was, in truth, he would pay not one penny more on his TRUE income.
And there you have it, Paul Ryan glorifying poor "Joe the Lyin' Plumber". Try "Clinging to the Truth", Mr Ryan.
Government receipts, source The World Almanac 2010:
2000- $2,025,457 million
2001- $1,991,426 million
2002- $1,853,395 million
2003- $1,782,532 million
2004- $1,880,279 million
2005- $2,153,859 million
2006- $2.407,454 million
2007- $2,568,239 million
Note that it took until 2005 for tax revenues to recover to above the Clinton 2000 level from the Bush tax cuts of 2001 (135 billion / year) and 2003. Government spending did increase in the same period, but reducing revenue with tax cuts is estimated to have added 25% to our budget deficit.
Shaak--you do forget there was a huge internet bubble burst and recession along with something called 9/11 that stopped the economy in its tracks right? So not only do you need to look at absolute dollars which you did but as a percentage of GDP so it tracks how well the economy is doing. As you noted after the cuts revenue came roaring back. I am not necessarily an advocate for those tax cuts but you assume that the economy wasnt impacted and that the tax rates if higher would have been applied against a static amount of taxable income and you know that cant be true. Either revenue came roaring back because Bush did other good things to stimulate the economy and tax policy had zero to do with that, some of that could be explained by cheap access to capital but some also had to be explained by additional income in consumer's hands. Remember the tax cuts were across the board.
Red meat causes prostrate cancer. How fitting Ryan throws it to his middle aged, male base.
Or, you might say: should they really be eating this stuff?
Being born eventually causes death. Maybe that's why you libs think birth control and abortions are a right. Never thought of that.
Talk to the Hand
Can the Republicans win with 0% of the women vote? Cause they sure seem to be trying.
Talk to, you betcha. Science discovered methods for birth control and guess what, all women have the right to use it or not--no one is forced one way or the other. The same goes for being pro-choice, no one forces anyone to have an abortion but women have a right to make the choice according to their own beliefs and their own circumstances. It is not my place or yours Talk to the Hand to judge others nor is it my place or yours to force beliefs on those who do not share them. Now those are rights. Paul Ryan, Todd Adkin and Mitt Romney do NOT have the right to shove their beliefs down everyone else's throats and neither do you. It is one thing to make birth control available to women as President Obama has but he is NOT forcing any woman to use it. You have a RIGHT to your opinion on the subjects, but you do NOT have the right to expect me to share that same opinion. Freedom, liberty and rights are NOT limited to those expressed by conservatives.
Oh stupid me. I thought birth control was already on the market and available. Thanks Jody. You guys may convert me yet................nah.
You can count on one here voting for Romney so your facts are wrong, as usual. Any one else? on this left part of the world.

Good one GT. You did notice how we kept it between us. Unlike that other person that is quick to throw other family members. She does not even practice what President Obama says.
Please convince her to ignore me. Please.

Wow! When a respected grown man( Paul Ryan) starts acting like Sarah Palin to excite his base is when the Republicans have lost the election. Let's see how many down ticket go with them.
I thought Paul Ryan was supposedly a politician with convictions - then he comes out waving a "terrible towel", although he is a Green Bay Packer fan? "Pander-Bear"
Romney, meanwhile, told a Yankees fan yesterday at his rally that “We all hate Yankees.”
What a pair!!
Ana - hopefully we'll take the majority of the House back so we can move this country forward faster than a snail's pace. No obstructionists will allow programs to actually get passed!

What a nice spin from the left about Mitt Hating Yankees when you know he was referencing to the NEW YORK YANKEES baseball team when he said he hated YAnkees. The gentlemen in NH yesterday asking Romney a question was wearing a Yankees' hat. The people at the rally understood what he was saying you have to be a moron not to understand the rivalry between Yankees and Red Sox fans.
speaking of Paul Ryan's budget.....here you go.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL6TBNvdYdw
no one's talking about it much.
In fact, Romney very quickly, high-tailed away from it,
just 24 hours later.
sssshhhhhhh...its a secret?
You know who else clings to guns and religion?
The Taliban.
You know who else clings to guns and religion?
The Taliban.
Oh hell - Perfect comparison....
Outstanding! Well said!
Scientific findings are ignored by many in our state of Pennsylvania. Knowledge is mocked by many here in Pennsylvania. Many cling to their guns and religion here in the state of Pennsylvania, for the complexity of the modern world is hard to comprehend when you choose to ignore what our greatest minds tell us about the world.
Call me an elitest, but I put my faith in science and my knowledge of the world based on history and scientific findings.
I understand that the FBI is picking up a lot of internet chatter about right-wing groups sending teams into Charlotte to disrupt the Democratic Convention. Some of the chatter involves the use of guns and explosives. I heard this from a law enforcement source, not a news organization source.
Wow I didn't know OWS was now a right wing group.
OWS is a 'REGISTERED' protest group. They have scheduled and registered times and places for their protests.
The internet chatter the FBI is monitoring about disruptions, guns and explosives is coming from right-wing militia, identity and skin-head groups.
What Would Jesus Cling To?
Why would I not doubt that the right would plot an 'attack' on the DNC? Does 'Dish it out but cant take it' sound familiar?
Paul Ryan throws out the red meat but ends up sounding petty and a bit desperate by dragging up clinging to guns, religion and Joe the Plumber who wasn't really a plumber.
Yeah the dope. He should be on something important like Romney's taxes.
And yes, Joe the Plumber did work for a plumbing contractor. And is running for (and won the Republican primary) office in Ohio's 9th District.
you have to add the http to the front.
And joe the plumber, tax evader, great guy joe.
Obama 2012
Wah, wah, wah, Wah, wah, wah; ignore my stance on Medicare, Wah, wah, wah, Wah, wah, wah; ignore my stance on Women's Rights, Wah, wah, wah, Wah, wah, wah; ignore all of my voting over the last 7 years! Go Football! Go Huntin! Go 'Whatever Gets You Excited' - yeah! yeah! ...... yea ..
No substance, no transparency, no NUTHIN! What a platform.
Lets see, we pretty much ignored Obama's voting record when he got voted into office unless you consider voting Present a vote, and can you explain again that transparency in the current administration unless you mean the National Security leaks coming out of the white house or were you talking about Holder's use of executive priviledge? Does Obama have a stance on medicare or is just to allow it to broke along with the country as he continues to pile on debt while keeping the economy from growing and punishing the successful so there isnt any revenue? What is his plan to fix medicare?
Kirk-2957282
President Obama cut 700 billion from Medicare, without forcing seniors to pay more for their benefits. We all know sacrifices will have to be made, but I'd trust President Obama over any Republican to make those decisions.
Yes, and the latest report from the trustees of the Medicare program state that it is now on more stable ground thanks to the President and the ACA. You see, the 700 billion came from efficiencies of the ACA and were used to bolster benefits for seniors and to keep costs low for years to come.
With Ryans plan, the more than 800 billion in his cuts to Medicare would got to? That's right, not to seniors, their costs for the same benefits will go up as the $800 billion truly comes out of Medicare. With Ryans's plan, seniors will have to ante up to maintain their benefits - 55 and older crowd will feel the pinch immediately.
Kirk-2957282
Does Obama have a stance on medicare or is just to allow it to broke along with the country as he continues to pile on debt while keeping the economy from growing and punishing the successful so there isnt any revenue? What is his plan to fix medicare?
Kirk, you nag like a little ole baaytche
Read the CBO report and turn off FOX.
Lets see, we pretty much ignored Obama's voting record when he got voted into office unless you consider voting Present a vote,
Will you ignore Paul Ryan's legislative record? President Obama has a more stellar record than the Ann Ryan lover who died on welfare.
Amy, do you really believe those cuts will be made? Come on he is planning on cutting that money for reimbursements to doctors and hospitals which means that either the doctors will refuse to take medicare patients or the cuts really wont happen and then he is supposedly using this money to help pay for Obamacare which again since these cuts arent real, neither will Obamacare be paid for. Sacrifices from whom? I noticed that Obama has really been a good model himself for sacrifice hasnt he. Did he cut back on his golf games, vacations, millions on clothes for Michelle and the kids, on his campaigning as he was leading from behind? How has Obama shown that you could trust him with the decisions on making sacrifices given he hasnt shown any himself?
Beverly--are you writing in a form of ebonics that somehow proves you are more black than me? Is that supposed to make you sound more or less intelligent? CBO report can you spell that report out for me. The one that showed that income inequality didnt come from tax but from the education gap and the shift of government assistance to our wealthy seniors? That report? Tell me old wise one, what that CBO report said and teach me the brilliance of NBC news.
Kirk, at least try to make an effort to understand what that $716 billion was. Yes, providers get less for some care but it provides higher rates of reimbursement for quality care rather than quantity. It requires drug companies to charge lower costs for medications to seniors--something the VA has always negotiated. Cutting billions from private insurance companies to "administer" medicare for Medicare Advantage which included the Medicare Trust fund paying for insurance company and pharmaceutical company TV ads, CEO pay and shareholder profits and returning that money to the Medicare Trust fund to be spent on actual senior health care is smart. It costs about 6% for the Government to administer medicare; it costs over 20% for Humana, and all the others to provide the same service to seniors. That $716 billion is over a 10-year period ($71.6 per year), that money is now being spent to provide at NO COST to seniors annual physicals and preventive health screenings as well as lower cost medications. Romney/Ryan just want to hand seniors a coupon and wish them good luck getting reasonably priced private health insurance at age 65.
Kirk-2957282
Beverly--are you writing in a form of ebonics that somehow proves you are more black than me?
You're Black?? That is LOL funny. I thought you were a hungry little troll coming here to be fed.
No, I wasn't trying to be be "Blacker Than Thou". I just did want to spell it out for you.
Not only are you a dumb little b!tch you are also playing some lame games that don't go over in the liberalsphere
Jody, do you really buy what you write or is that more campaign talk. Have you been reading that those so called screenings and physicals never happen because doctors wont do them and they are too busy. You seem to think there is an unlimited supply of health care at a certain rate the doctors and hospitals and drug companies will accept no matter what the profit level to them might be. Its just not true as its a finite resource that is and will be overcome by demand. Those medicare savings will never happen. The Romney/Ryan plan does nothing of the sort unless you opt into vouchers and it doesnt impact any current seniors. So stop with the hyperbole. I have no clue whether Ryan's plan is better or will work and neither do you as its never been tried. We do know historically that medicare cuts never come to fruition so which plan is more trustworthy at this point?
When I hear that a politician cut money from some program, and I don't get a check in the mail, I know that they really didn't cut anything...
just sayin......
I would like to see the President's plan on how he expects to recoup the $700 million in Medicare fraud. Does he intend to setup a panel, hire auditors, setup another government agency or put in new oversite or restrictions. Not saying it does not need to be done just wondering how he plans to execute it and where he came up with the number he expects to reduce.
kirk;
My mom and dad get into their doctor without any problems and have screenings and lab work without any problems. They also have supplemental insurance besides Medicare. I think you are more of the scare tactics realm, then actually talking to seniors who are living it.
Jackie One of my relatives is a doctor in a small rural area. His business has been overrun because 4 of the other doctors in the same general area have stopped accepting medicare patients. His take is a lot of doctors are refusing medicare patients unless they also have supplemental insurance. My mother and mother-in-law both have supplemental and have no problems either.
I would like to see concrete evidence that the President's $700 million cuts are tangible not just rhetoric. Medicare is in trouble due to the increased population on medicare and rampant fraud.
JackieK--could be true but read the more recent articles including USA Today and the coming demand issues with Obamacare and the free screenings. They probably get in with a doctor they have had for many years and gets paid a fair rate with the supplemental insurance. If you think about it for a second and say hmmmm if a doctor can make $100 for an hour visit on a sick visit or more on a physical but $79 dollars on free screening with medicare and he is always booked up, what is he going to take. Its simple supply demand economics.
Obama's medicare savings come mostly from cutting doctor reimbursement. This has been tried before and it didn't work as the doctors threatened to leave medicare, so congress voted to increase the reimbursement back to save the system. There will be no savings. Obama's plan is no plan, just window dressing.
Beverly and Jody - you aren't actually trying to discuss with Kirk, are you? He'll never make a point then put you down when you do. Just move on - it's almost as frustrating as trying to communicate with Concern.
And, yesterday he actually posted that he thought the President should release his college transcripts.
It's really useless trying to have a sane conversation or discussion with him.
Obama/Biden 2012
Let me get this straight: providing medical care for all our seniors is going to be difficult, so we just aren't going to do it?
This must be why it took a Democratic President to win WWII, put a man on the moon and execute Osama bin Laden. Republicans are very negative people, have you noticed?
Amy, that isnt what was said and you know it. What was said is that the demand for cheap and low reimbursement medicare services will swamp the available supply and the Obama cuts will not really happen.
Seeking Sanity--I havent put anyone down and as always provide critically thought out responses to blatant biased campaign BS and give my opinon. By the way, I am still waiting for your support of the Obama jobs bill from yesterday. Why cant you give a substantive response? I asked nicely 10 times and you still refuse to defend your candidate's jobs bill nor provide me with your brilliant IQ? What is so hard?
Amy - we don't expect Republicans to accomplish much - if anything. They don't see the need to do anything - just pontificate. I still remember Bush under the Mission Accomplished sign and we all know how much of that mission was actually "accomplished."
Obama/Biden 2012
Seeking Sanity--so what has Obama accomplished so far after 4 years? Still waiting for the brilliant defense of his jobs bill?
Seeking Sanity
Kirk is a persistent little troll. He doesn't understand the meaning of IGNORE! I'm going to ignore him. I bet he won't ignore me though. He's so hungry; he just wants to hang around in hopes of biting my leg.
Dem, That says it all. Libs just want that check in the mail.
i wonder how much obama paid to get all these idiots to send negative comments. anyone including alfred e neuman could be a better president than obama. anyone not believing that must be blind. wake up folkd we are well on our way to becoming a 3rd world country--or maybe i should say a "new world order". has anyone happened to notice how obama talks about fighting for the economy and then sends in the EPA to shut down as many jobs as they can. he wants to eliminate our constitutional rights and freedoms guaranteed by the bill of rights. what the hell do you people think has made our country the greatest in the world. you don't see many people wanting to immigrate to russia or north korea or china, why do you suppose that is? people want to come to america in the hope of enjoying all the freedoms that obama is trying to eliminate. if obama gets reelected those folks will be in for a big surprise. if obama is really an american citizen how do you explain how he came to america and applied for and received a foreign students loan to go to college?
Why don't you do yourself and everyone else a BIG FAVOR and fact check this bull@!$%#....
Mr. Morris...Sorry to bust your bubble but the EU (European Union to you) has a TREMENDOUS problem with immigrant populations especially from Islamic and former "colonial" countries. My guess is you haven't been to Europe. Then again you most likely don't understand that the economic meltdown was caused by the "freeing up" of the financial markets. You know the American model. Just sayin! NOW GO READ A BOOK! You been watching too much TELEBISHION!
3rd World Nation? Judging from the quality of your post we are there.
Next time tell your folks to turn up the volume on the tv so you can hear all of the talking points from your room.
mr, LIBOR sound familiar?
Obama 2012
Lemming
dave, check it out lemmings were forcibly driven over the cliff, they just didn't get up and go on their own. Fact.
if the elected officals were to put the money that they took from social security back in there would be trillions in it. our elected officals have raided social security funds so many times to pay for crap that we did not need. and it would really be nice if you did not pay into social security you could not get any from it. I paid into it for 40 years and for all of you that think we people that are getting social security get more than was paid into it you need to think again I will get about half of what I and my employers have paid into it.
Unfortunately, the money they steal and play with is OUR money... so in essence, WE (taxpayers) would have to pay it back.
What kind of fools do they think we are?
Scott, yes both political parties have raided the cookie jar but where do you think this money goes? Do you think the government has dollars sitting in some backroom waiting for you someday? They put it in a bank? Or invest in Treasuries? You realize its still us that has to pay that back someday. Its really hard to believe that you wont get back far more than you put in even after 40 years by the say as I would love to see your social security statement. This is the reason they should have created personal private accounts so the assets could have been segregated and not spent.
You guys elected them for the last 30 years. So it means you spent it!
It has been the republican method to try to end these very popular benefits to society. Bankrupt them, then tell the people they never worked. Then axe them.
The hypocrite Ryan is an avid devotee of Ayn Rand who despised organized religion. Speaking of which, here is today's Bible verse for contemplation (I forget exactly where it is in the Bible):
"Thou shalt honor thy wife. But if, at times, she becomes a little too uppity and persnickety, the Lord commands that thou beat the holy crap out of her. Amen."
umm, don't quit your day job Zorro. Joking about beating women is disgusting... jerk
Ryan is just starting to have his turn in the political opinion barrel....and.....By the time this is all over he'll be right where he belongs, behind the chicken wire with all of the other right wingnut zealots. I can't believe that he and his empty suit, stand for nothing running mate, are for something until there's the least little bit of blow back, then, they're not for it!!...Ryan will soon learn, just like his legislative buddy Mr. Akin has found out.....spouting your trash in your little right wing echo chamber is one thing, just don't do it where any logically thinking, sane person can hear it....or you'll find out what the vast majority of the people think and they don't like it, or want it.....So far Ryan has back tracked/misrepresented his non-usage of stimulus funds, his Medicare funding and now his oppostion to Akins comments....after he co-sponsors a piece of legislation that says, basically the same thing that Akin said when he offened so many people...including Ryan and Romney...how does that work? With Romney, he says "trust me" on the content of his tax returns...the last time he uttered the "exact same words", again on the contents of his tax returns when running in Masaachusetts for Governor....and.......He LIED...so why is this time any different???? Trust me, he says??? Trust them, they say ??? He has yet to stand for anything...ANYTHING....
If he's so good with $$, then we certainly need him to fix what Obama has RUINED, sort of what Madoff did!
Today's Republicans can't stand that Reagan believed everyone in government should live by the trust but verify rule.
Most Republicans running for office are refusing to disclose their taxes. Particularly worrisome when you realize many of them have been lobbyists or have spouses who have been lobbyists.
mockingly - "yee-haw mother @!$%#ers, the sheriff is a ______." Paul Ryan is an idiot, this is desperate.
Singing from the Beatles...He's a real nowhere man living in his nowhere land looking at nobody.
I think he makes these stuff up as he goes along just to please the crowd.. Mitt -Wit sure has his hands full
I think he makes these stuff up as he goes along just to please the crowd.. Mitt -Wit sure has his hands full
Rick - Are you kidding! that's straight from NitMitts playbook. Now there's two of them roaming loose, confusing the hell out of everybody.....
O&Joe 2012
Something really creepy when Herman Munster goes a'huntin. I have a real problem trying to rationalize "Sport" killers, especially when they attempt to control My Incubator, My Body, My Bedroom. Ryan, along with Akin and the rest of the republican right are dangerous, to all women out there and those who care, we should be very afraid that these people may get elected. I guarantee your health decisions will not be yours and your uterus will belong to the government, and Granny really will go over the cliff with slashed medicaid funding with block grants.
Obama 2012
Belonging to the NRA does not make you a better shot than someone who does not, I own a gun, my uncles taught me to shoot, clean and store it when I was 12 years old (yes, it's that Tennessee thing), they were all union scale/member carptenters, excellent shots, and members of the Church of Christ (not latter day saints - Campbelites, the ones who say they are the only people going to heaven) and nobody in our family wastes their money on the NRA - we know better. Sorry paulie girl, you are gonna have to do a little better than that to impress me.
Speaking of the Beatles: Happiness is a warm gun, yes it is (white Album) - seems to be the only talking point the gop can stay on these days. John Lennon would have been so proud - not!
I know what you mean about wasting money on the NRA. It would be also be nice if some of these politicians would stop trying to pass laws forcing us to waste money paying union dues.... :/
I am a Catholic.
There is no way anyone who believes in the Bible would go around quoting Ayn Rand and praising Rand's treatment of the poor.
On judgement day, God will decide if we worshiped the wealthy or if we choose Jesus' path of helping those who need us.
Amen to that.
debbie, meanwhile they are creating havoc for those of us stuck down here. Evil flourishes when good men do nothing.

Just for you folks updated only 8 minutes ago.
This is not a right wing site as you can see. Notice what has been going on for the last couple of months. You can not deny that our President Obama is going down and Romney is going up on that chart.
This most be why these left wackos are screaming so much today. Sorry you win some and you loose some.
Debbie, there is a huge difference between helping and caring for the poor and creating policies that create even more poor and create generational welfare. Have you spent any time looking at the unemployment and poverty statistics and minority achievement over the last 4 years? Are you telling me that Obama's policies because he has increase food stamps and created millions more locked into generational welfare poverty through his entitlement programs that he is caring for the poor? Not sure what religion you belong to but that isnt the one Jesus taught. Wealthy is generally and almost statistically tied to achievement and and reward for success. It isnt something to be punished and scorned but looked up to. Its what you do with it on your own (not through government force) that determines your real altruism.
Uh Debbie then what do you say about all those Catholics that support pro-choice. I'm not Catholic but I do believe that is against your religious also, just saying. I would say most people today do not follow their religious doctrine of choice 100% of the time.
Kirk you are right on with your posts. Keep up the good work.
Concerned Citizen
Here's some old news: August 21st, 2004 Bush 48% Kerry 48%
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2004/president/us/general_election_bush_vs_kerry-939.html
Yeah, I was shocked when Kerry lost to that idiot. Don't be shocked when your man Romney loses to the President who got Bin Laden.
Kirk -
You keep repeating how bad things have been over the last four years, like President Obama inherited a robust economy and made it worse. The opposite is true - President Obama inherited an economic mess created in part by the "tax-cut and spend", deregulation policies of the Bush administration.
Since then things have gotten better, albeit slowly:
Unemployment: 10.1% in October 2009, the highest rate since 1983 and roughly twice the pre-crisis rate. Since then, steadily reduced to around 8.3%
Stock Market: Dow Jones was at 6,600 in March 2009. It has since recovered - over 12,000 during most of 2011, over 13,000 in 2012.
GDP: GDP growth of 2.2% in Jan. 2008 rapidly declined to a negative growth rate of -5% in 2009. Growth rates have been positive since then to a high of 3.5% before settling to a rate of around 2% growth per quarter.
Home Values: US Home Values declined by almost 25% from Jan. 2007 thru Feb. 2012. The rate of decline slowed and homes values have increased for the last 4 months, with June reporting the first year-over-year increase since 2007.
So if you disagee with President Obama's policies, please tell me what Romney will do differently to make things better. Tax Cuts? Less Regulations? Tax Rates on the wealthy are at historic lows, both for earned income and capital gains. Jobs come from increased demand, and tax cuts and less regulation do not increase demand.
Amy - now you've gone and burst poor Concern's bubble. She is going to be sooooo disappointed 11/7/2012!
Obama/Biden 2012
Tnsevl--first of all, I am never going to be a Bush defender as I think he was a horrible president for many reasons. However, I dont blame the housing collapse and the recession on his policies but on both parties policies that created the housing bubble in the first place. It wasnt just deregulation by the GOP but by Frank and Dodd and loose credit etc. Both parties share that blame. Second, you cant say that Obama has made things better over the last 4 years and then try to defend his dramatic continued increase in government assistance programs across 70 different departments at over 1 trillion dollars. Up almost 80 percent since he took office and he continues to want and ask for more. Food stamps, the Earned income credit, welfare etc all are up dramatically creating an entitlement environment much greater than the recession required and based on your numbers should actually be going down not up. You cant say his policies have worked while ignoring the dramatic increase in poverty and unemployment unless you conclude his policies havent worked for the poor, middle class and minority right? Thats my point. If you are poor or a minority how could you vote for him based on his accomplishments to date but that is the opposite of what people think on here.
I never said Romney was a panacea for all our economic ills but I would do several things that I agree with him on. First its not true that tax rates on the wealthy are at historic lows. In fact the amount of overall taxes the wealthy pay are as a percentage of the overall revenue is at historic highs. Its more progressive now than it has ever been. That said, I would dramatically reduce or eliminate the corporate tax rate and allow our businesses a big competitive advantage or at least equal the playing field with foreign competitors. Second, I would eliminate the current tax code and make if simple, fair and yes progressive. No more loopholes and social engineering deductions but maybe the overall rates are reduced. So the highest bracket might be 25% but it applies across the board for everyone and because the corporate tax rate is dramatically lowered, you can make the capital gains tax rate the same 25% and not create a double level tax. But the wealthy would need to pay more in the aggregate but so would everyone else above what is considered the poverty rate. Spending would need to be cut big time including defense but we need to eliminate bureaucracies and expensive and nonproductive government jobs and pension benefits. We need to peg department and government spending to either revenue or some benchmark so it doesnt get ever grow faster than our revenue. We need to eliminate government regs that create barriers to invest or start businessses. Lots of work and certainly the democrats are going to do it and I dont have any faith that the GOP will either but they at least act like it.
Debbie--I am a Catholic as well and I agree. Ryan's worship of Ayn Rand goes against Catholic teaching on social justice. Apparently Paulie never listened when they taught about social justice in Catechism class. Clearly he has forgotten anything he ever knew about caring for the poor and the helpless.
Doximom--so explain to me what Ryan's social justice plan would be and how he would hurt the poor and middle class and minorities worse than Obama's policies have? Seniors are the wealthiest segment in our society and as a group control over 80% of the wealth in this country so dont tell me how he is going to hurt seniors. Lets just leave it to the poor and helpless as you say. We already spend a trillion dollars on them up over 80% since Obama took office and the unemployment rate for minorities and the poor have fared far worse than the overall economy so what would Ryan do to make that even worse.
More wisdom from the critical thinker. It just doesn't seem to matter to these dolts that Dodd-Frank was passed in 2010, two years after the global financial crash. Yet, they still cling to Dodd-Frank crashed the economy.

"clinging to guns and bibles"..."redistribution of wealth"..."you didn't build that"...."put y'all back in chains"...and I probably left out some good quotable Obama/Biden comments.
And you want to reelect these guys? Akin on steroids.
"I like to fire people"...."corporations are people too, my friend"..."my wife has a couple of Cadillacs"... "I'll bet you $10,000"...."I don't follow NASCAR but I have friends who are owners"....college graduates should "take a shot, go for it, take a risk and get the education, borrow money if you have to from your parents, start a business."...."I'm also unemployed"...."I'm running for office, for Pete's sake, I can't have illegals.".....
Want me to keep going?
sure that would be fun.
I live in a small town in PA and have watched the Republican governor lie through his teeth about the Sandusky child abuse and who has stolen the education funding for corporate welfare. On top of this he has stolen tax funding from the people by not taxing the gas boys but then he enjoys their campaign contributions. How dare Ryan say we support him and his party. THEY ALL NEED TO GO
We are another day closer to getting a better leader in Washington. It will be refreshing to see a president who can work with both sides of thes isle. ROMNEY/RYAN 2012
Which isle.. Gilligan's?
Has to be Gilligan's
Thurston Romney III is there, oh...and the "lovie" ann romney to!
Just keep in mind all this back ground noise Obama is throwing out about someone elses taxes is just met to distract from the pitiful job he has done with your taxes....
I think you mean 'aisle', unless, of course you mean to send Richie Rich and Eddie Munster to a lonely, deserted island. Come to think of it, that's a great idea!!!!
oh really?
you want us to believe the phoney i saved detroit idiot? he wanted these jobs to sink so that he could probably cash in by shorting them on the stock market.
have you not read or heard that some of the republican reps,or maybe both sides were doing insider trading but they can not be prosecuted because they exempted themselves specifically from the law.
yeh,right.new leader my a$$.
Guns and religion -- that's equivalent to Ryan saying he clings to violence and ignorance. It's a pretty honest admission, actually.
He's the male Sarah Palin. He's Marah Malin
Or you could say he likes to hunt and go to church.
I love it when communists and liberals jump on a conservative! It shows truely arogant ignorance ! lol They're proud of it! haha Now watch them respond to this with more marxist retoric.
Sorry dude (not really), maybe its because you call everyone with a different opinion a socalist or a marxist. Or maybe its because your party has tolerated (basically condone) all the racist lies about a sitting president.
why is it that clowns like you spout off about first ammendment rights but attack people who disagree with you?what is wrong here? oh yeh, you only want the right to speak on behalf of protecting your "man".
know what i say? marxist your a$$. you would not know a marxist if he was standing in front of you. you must get all of your info from "pill head" limbaugh. you both lie like hell just to hear yourselves being the phonies you both are. probably neither one of you ever put your life on the line to protect or save somebody.
so,get a life.

Beware the Republican Romney/Ryan War-On-Women Platform:
RESULTS:
The national rape-related pregnancy rate is 5.0% per rape among victims of reproductive age (aged 12 to 45); among adult women an estimated 32,101 pregnancies result from rape each year. Among 34% of cases of rape-related pregnancy, the majority occurred among adolescents and resulted from assault by a known, often related perpetrator. Only 11.7% of these victims received immediate medical attention after the assault, and 47.1% received no medical attention related to the rape. A total of 32.4% of these victims did not discover they were pregnant until they had already entered the second trimester; 32.2% opted to keep the infant whereas 50% underwent abortion and 5.9% placed the infant for adoption; an additional 11.8% had spontaneous abortion.
CONCLUSIONS:
Rape-related pregnancy occurs with significant frequency. It is a cause of many unwanted pregnancies and is closely linked with family and domestic violence. As we address the epidemic of unintended pregnancies in the United States, greater attention and effort should be aimed at preventing and identifying unwanted pregnancies that result from sexual victimization.
Meanwhile, the desperate Obama continues to lie in an attempt to shore up his sputtering campaign. Here is the latest installment.
If he really believes the ad only ran once then he is either a dunce or a liar. I'm not sure which is worse. The ad ran in my State many times(100s) and I'm sure it ran many times throughout the country and is probably still running. Can anybody seriously believe the garbage Obama says anymore?
More than they can believe what comes from Richie Rich and Eddie Munster.
is ryan counting on the fact that only 1/3 of the catholic dioceses are involved in the phoney law suit against the obama administration? does he really want to say he is catholic? where was he when david vitter got caught seeing a madame? where was he when newt was having another affair? where was he when mark sanford,(you know the "hypocrite"),was caught having an affair with a woman down in south america? he kept quiet all while this was going on.now,he wants to be a vp? oh hell no.
and joe the plumber?really? a tax dodger running on the republican ticket.boy what a fool. he even went so far as to say john mccain ruined his life. which life? the tax dodger?or the one where he goes out and speaks and gets paid, like ryan, to say absolutely nothing. they both are trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes. if joe the plumber is elected it goes to show how far the republicans are really willing to go just to get their own in office. atta boy joe. way to go ryan:hide the truth.after all.ryan drained money out of social security so that he could go to college after his father passed away. now,he does not want the middle class and poor have the same free ride.
Jim shall we ask where was Obama when Weiner was flashing his junk? Where was Obama when Rangel was not paying his taxes? I suppose we could go on and on. What exactly is Obama saying, where are the details? They are all doing the same thing, Obama doesn't have a plan, hasn't had a plan but doesn't want to tell you. Basically Pelosi and Reid threw him under the bus. How did Obama really pay for college? Much the same on both sides.
lynn, you have your head in the sand?you know full well that everytime he brought a jobs bill to the republican house the only way the republicans would allow a vote was if it contained a tax cut for the rich.
it was your own party that would get in front of the cameras and state that their mission was to make sure president obama was a one term president.
yeh jobs number one with republicans? yeh right. getting rid of a democratic president was their job one. not putting america back to work.
