On Saturday, President Obama made stops in the Northeast, while Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan brought his 78-year-old mother to a Florida campaign event. NBC's Ron Mott reports.
THE VILLAGES, Fla. -- Campaigning with his retired mother at his side, Congressman Paul Ryan made the Romney-Ryan ticket pitch for fixing Medicare Saturday morning before thousands at the world's largest senior citizens community.
“Like a lot of Americans, when I think about Medicare it's not just a program, it's not just a bunch of numbers, it's what my mom relies on, it's what my grandma had,” Ryan said in his most detailed campaign speech yet. “Medicare was there for our family, for my grandma, when we needed it then; and Medicare is there for my mom while she needs it now, and we have to keep that guarantee.”
In a very personal appeal to the crowd that started with Ryan walking hand-and-hand with his 78-year-old mother, Betty Douglas, he promised to make sure “bureaucrats will not mess with my mom’s healthcare or your mom’s healthcare.”
The presumptive GOP vice presidential nominee also assured the crowd at The Villages the Romney-Ryan plan will not affect those already in retirement.
“Our solution to preserve, protect, and save Medicare does not affect your benefits. Let me repeat that. Our plan does not affect the benefits for people who are in or near retirement. It’s a promise that was made and it’s a promise that must be kept,” he said, with a large “protect & strengthen Medicare” sign behind him. “To save it for this generation, you have to reform it for my generation so it doesn’t go bankrupt when we retire.”
The Chairman of the House Budget Committee, speaking in the state with the highest concentration of voters over 65 in the country, had harsh words for President Barack Obama, as well.
NBC's David Gregory takes a look at how Medicare is one of the major issues shaping the 2012 presidential campaign.
“Here is what the president won’t tell you about his Medicare plan—about Obamacare. The president raids $716 billion from the Medicare program to pay for the Obamacare program,” Ryan told the crowd in the battleground state that went for Obama in the 2008 election. “Medicare should not be used as a piggy bank for Obamacare. Medicare should be used to be the promise that it made to our current seniors. Period. End of Story.”
Saturday’s rally marks Ryan’s first visit to Florida since being tapped as Mitt Romney’s VP exactly a week ago. The presumptive GOP VP’s plan to overhaul Medicare has been the focus of both Democrats' and the Obama campaign's attacks since he was selected.
Several thousand retirees turned out in one of The Villages’ town squares not only to hear the seven-term Wisconsin congressman speak but were also able to enjoy the sounds of Lee Greenwood, who sang “Proud to be an American” on stage just before Ryan and his mom walked up.
While Ryan focused on outlining the Medicare plan under a Romney administration in Florida, Mitt Romney was holding six private fundraisers in New York, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
Vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan spoke to an audience in a large Florida retirement community and was joined by his 78-year-old mother. NBC's Ron Mott reports.

I love it. Romney has the following on Obama: Worst economic recovery ever, $5,3 Trillion in new debt, cutting $716 Billion from Medicare, record spending, GM losses, downgrade of credit rating, 1.5% GDP, Iranian Nukes, highest poverty rate in US history, Obamacare....
Obama has the following on Romney: Tax returns.
What a joke!
Obama has the following on Romney: Tax returns.
LOL. Yeah, it's about time Ryan made it to Florida. He and Romney need to get the truth out about their plan to save Medicare before the Democrats can drown everything out with their lies.
Have you gone to the AARP website? They lay out the facts about Ryan's plan to ruin Medicare "as we know it". My kids don't want a "voucher" 20 years down the road. They want affordable health care.
My kids don't want a "voucher" 20 years down the road. They want affordable health care.
See what I mean? It's already started.
Diane - The AARP is a very liberal organization that robs seniors every day of the week. Not only that, but the AARP completely endorsed Obamacare because they stand to make BILLIONS off of it. Any plan that differs from Obamacare, the AARP will spin and stretch to the max to try to destroy. Please become informed as to the why of such things.
You forgot a few Brian,
Romney and Ryan will destroy Medicare and make it impossible for seniors not to live in the streets. Don't believe the lies. Obama and the Dems will keep and strengthen Medicare.
Ryans mommy probably does not need Medicare other than to save withdrawls from her JP Morgan stock account. I think Romney chose his younger twin yuppie blueblood. They should have children together to see want mutant thing comes of it.
Romney is a joke.
We know that these Neo-Nut Conservative types suffer from ODS, and they like Willard Romney and little Paul are, "DAMN GOOD AT LYING."
What does Obama have on Romney? All Romney's lies and distortions. And when Romney gets called on his lies, he cries "not fair."
I'm still waiting to hear how that event really went.
Was it the old Rick Scott pulling a Kim Jong Il and busing in children to chant his name? The old Rick Scott going through the crowd and throwing out anyone with a pro-Obama sign? Yes, there are Democrats in that community, and they have been asked to leave in the past. As if it isn't bad enough Paul Ryan and other Republicans who voted for VoucherCare are hiding behind their mother's skirts now.
Puleeze, even the Republican seniors know Democrats are the ones who protect Social Security and Medicare. And no one trusts Romney or Ryan, both of whom have a record of flip-flopping and lying, both of whom can't even come clean and release more tax returns.
History repeats itself. This is like Goldwater/Miller, or Dubya trying to privatize Social Security with a cut-off age of 55, or even McCain/Palin -- All went too far to the crazy Right, or what Newt called rightwing social engineering and they FAILED.
The FACT is Romney/Ryan not only want VoucherCare instead of Medicare, they want to repeal the Affordable Care Act and the Medicare benefits and regulations in ACA, as well as huge cuts in Medicaid that seniors rely on for nursing home assistance and hospice care. They want to cut CURRENT benefits as well as end Medicare as we know it in the future.
Save Social Security and Medicare -- Obama/Biden - 2012!
Brianb-that is a lie, AARP is non-polictical. Just because they told the truth about Ryan's plan doesn't make them political. It's their job to tell their members about did ideas about Medicare.
Who truly gives a $hit ~ if the organization is telling the truth and on this issue, they are 100% truth. You've got two guys that have lied incessantly about their lives, their history, their actions, and their statements ~ yet you buy into their promise on Medicare? The voucher system is the first step to eliminating Medicare altogether. The first step is always the most difficult, after that its just repetition and more inventive lies.
Hey Brian - AARP is a watchdog group for seniors. I wouldn't call that being "liberal". It is neither in the insurance nor medical field so I don't understand what you mean by "they stand to make billions". It does not sell products - it provides information for people like me who live on a fixed income.
Obama didn't cut $716 billion from Medicare in the sense that you're trying to portray. What he did is basically told doctors that if they want to be paid through medicare, they would have to charge the government cheaper prices. Doctors bread and butter is medicare so they're not going to refuse to accept it. The money SAVED this way (the $716 billion) was then taken out of medicare and used for other programs. It's similar to what Walmart does. They tell Dell that if they want to sell their laptop that normally goes for $1000 in Walmart, they'd have to cut the price $950. Dell, knowing that their laptop in Walmart is going to sell, will take the smaller profit margin knowing that the alternative to not selling at Walmart would be worse. (s) Yeah, doctors are getting a pretty tough break. They're really struggling on their six figure salaries (/s). Same Medicare coverage. Cheaper price for the government.
Like they told their members about Obamacare, right? That would explain why seniors left AARP in droves after it passed.
Obummer didn't kill bin Laden. Someone else did that for him. To the unemployed- you didn't lose that job all by yourself, the government helped you lose that job. Oh, did use see the latest Labor Dept. Stats? 44 states unenjoyment rates went up last month. Boo Hoo for Obummer. Pack Your $h!t
AARP is not liberal and even they are against the Ryan plan!
The Baggers are out in force to save Medicare from the evil lefty's, who want to gut it, and give the benefit to the 1% in form of tax breaks. Lyan Ryan and his little boy-toy NitMitt are nothing more than a @!$%#ing joke.......
O&Joe 2012
How refreshing......
A politician that can make a speech and connect with the American People and NOT utilize a teleprompter!
Go Ryan!
Correction: Dubya wanted to privatize Social Security with a cut-off age of 50. When Wall Street collapsed, imagine how many seniors would have been screwed. Even now, how many people below age 55 will own their homes in order to make it on Social Security, let alone pay on average an additional $6,500 a year for health care? Republicans, you have screwed this entire generation enough!
GT-2021701 -- Make sure you add this to the end of such statements (sarcasm). Ignoramuses like onermailliw are repeating the new Swift-boat crap about bin Laden, which was completely debunked last night on the news. Remember the wacko general who was part of the Batcrap Bachmann infiltration of the Muslim Brotherhood? He is a part of that Swift-boating crap.
Johnny R Good, rebuttals in regular case, no italics.
You forgot a few Brian,
Johnny... these are all bullsh!t. There's nothing in this list that amounts to a beetle dung pile. If this is what you are supporting Obama for, you'd do much better paying your admission and supporting Mickey Mouse.
Brannon,
If I were the owner of the business that employed you, I would buy you a membership to Costco. I would then cut your pay by the amount I figured you would save and use it elsewhere. How would you like that? What a great deal for you, no?
Think about this...the GOP has been attacking every social program that we have in the United States for 50 years, but they are going to save a social program that was created by Democrats that they hate? COME ON MAN!!!! LOL...The crazy Right Wingers are extremely misinformed.
BrainB has confessed to making up lies just to get people angry. He is nothing more than a grenade troll so don't feed him. Putting him on ignore is even better, then he can just "play with himself".
Grail Quest -- Regardless of whether one supports AARP or not, the FACT is VoucherCare takes that $716 billion away from seniors, whereas in ACA the savings comes from providers (insurance companies, Big Pharma, hospitals) there by extending Medicare and closing the donut hole for seniors.
Seniors who don't have expensive prescriptions may not realize this, or may think some of the additional care they receive due to ACA was always a part of Medicare, and certainly they would not know that ACA extends Medicare another eight years. So perhaps some Republican seniors will fall for the Romney/Ryan lies.
But even the most rightwing Republican senior knows the Democrats are the ones who protect trust fund programs like Social Security and Medicare, and many Republican seniors don't feel Romney is trustworthy. They were probably polite to Paul Ryan in Florida today, but I doubt most of them will actually vote for him.
Most of them have Republican governors. Why aren't those slugs creating jobs in their states? Don't they know how to attract new businesses with all their right to work laws in place? Or, are they too busy union-busting, vagina inspecting, and discriminating against anyone who has functioning brain cells?
In 2010, the Repukable Tea Party rally cry was jobs, jobs, jobs. It's been two years, where are the jobs that were promised? Why was every job bill introduced weighted down with discriminatory provisions and more largesse for the wealthy? Jobs, jobs, jobs, was it all a lie? Apparently. Instead of jobs, we got vaginal probes, filibusters, and a road map back to the 1800's.
No Bain/No Pain 2012
To all the liberals that think AARP is a benevolent, truthful and wonderful organization.... tell me why they overcharge for their product? Tell me why there are several other sources for the same protection that offer better service than AARP and costs less?
AARP is ripping people off and those people don't know it. I wouldn't become a member of AARP because I know they are dishonest in their business dealings. When they stand to make billions off of Obamacare, doesn't that strike you as funny as to why they lobbied for it? No other senior organization lobbied for Obamacare.
The Bull@!$%# is getting so thick that even Mitten's Etch-a-Sketch can't even keep up with it. And Eddie is taking a page from NitMitt's playbook, and thinks he's not going to be accountable for his Tea-Bag actions in Congress. What a couple of LOSERS!
O&Joe 2012 (In a landslide)
LOL. Yeah, it's about time Ryan made it to Florida. He and Romney need to get the truth out about their plan to save Medicare
WHAT IS HE GOING TO "SAVE"IT FROM? Only you think that he is telling the truth. Just because he is loud and his mother is yelling even louder, does not mean that they are telling THE TRUTH.
Many seniors don't have anything else other than Medicare and Medicaid to pay for the long-term care. They will be MAKING THEMSELVES HOMELESS IF THEY VOTE FOR THOSE REPUBLICANS.
Presidentr Obama needs to be even LOUDER. Paul Ryan is a JOKE
I am a first time voter. I Just became a US Citizen. To be honest, elections are about choices and trust but so far Romney and Ryan have less credibility than a teenager. They lie every step all the way. It is beneath any presidential candidate to refuse to release their tax return or to come clean about any issue. How can they be trusted by the world about anything? All the issues set apart, Romney has less credibility than Obama and this is the core of this election. "People" should remember that. I do understand the GOP will be voting for Romney because they hate POTUS, so democrats should be as much as decided to vote for Obama.
Loose Balls said: The GOP/Tea Tards must be madder than a midget with a Yo-Yo that they are stuck with Romney/Ryan on the GOP ticket!!
Actually balls, we are hysterical over the morons that can't see past Obama's rectum and still support him. Romney has class along with Ryan.... and Romney/Ryan actually have a plan to help get us out of this economic nightmare we are living in. Obama's plan... steal $700 Billion from the money we taxpayers put into medicare... So.... for all your snarky insults, the only thing I can say is liberals = losers.
I enjoy hearing Mr. Marvelous Ryan start is speeches with "Obama inherited a difficult situation".!
Since Ryan has been a member of Congress for the last 14 years.....Mr. Marvelous is thus admitting that he is part and parcel of that difficult situation that President Obama inherited!
Yikes!
Shuntasy
If AARP isn't selling anything, what do you call this?

The more the ACA cuts, the more the AARP profits!
riley-1759556 -- Oh "for Pete's sake" really? This is what the cognitive dissonance rightwing does, pathetic.
working for america
We are mis-informed, get real. My son was born 24 years ago with autism and mental retardation. Due to this condition, he has the mental iq of a 12 year old. However, my wife and I would not change a moment of those years for all the money in the world. Because of the cost of his medications and the constant doctor's visits (one of his medicines runs about $700 amonth), we had to get him on Medicare/Medicaid. Last November, we were notified that as of Jan. 1st of this year, we would have to have another doctor because he was dropping all Medicare/Medicaid patients becuase of the $716 Billion cut from those programs to pay for Obamacare had cut the amount that he was getting paid, already below what he was getting from other patients. It took a while to find a new doctor as no one else was taking any new Medicare/Medicaid patients. So forgive me if I don't join you in the President Obama Hallaluja Choir singing his praises.
So you Liberals go around and piss on everyone's shoes and tell them that it is raining, just don't be surprised that you get your words crammed down your throats
Why isn't Ryan paying for his Mom's needs out of those millions of $$$$ he has and can well afford it?
He's rich and marching his Mom around bragging about her being on Medicare? What a sh*tty son and a loser!
More loose balls spewing: Brian = repeated lies spewed like toxic vomit from an uneducated sock puppet who refers to himself as a "Republican".
Tell me dumbazz... when did I refer to myself as a republican? Copy and paste the exact text from anyplace on these boards... Since you think so highly of yourself, you should have no trouble finding the passage and pasting it to a post. I'll wait for as long as it takes.... When you can't find it, I want you to come out and tell everyone reading here what a stupid sack of crap you are.... K snookems?
Ryan , Walker .. peas in a pod . I ashamed these liar's are from Wisconsin
Nothing like pimping out your own mother knowing she'll be dead by the time he wrecks Medicare completely. "Don't worry, Mom - you're covered".
Ryan champions turning our Infrastructure and water systems over to Private Industry "Wall Street"
Translation - 600 dollar a month Water Bills, a Toll Road every 3 miles. Imagine water being treated like Oil, exported and mark up by Wall Street.
Don't believe me? Look it up yourself, Lobby Groups have been beating down the GOP doors.

True Patriot,
You can try to justify robbing the Medicare trust fund any way you want, but it doesn't change the facts. Obama and the Democrats moved the $716 billion from Medicare to Obamacare to give it the appearance of deficit neutrality by reducing the initial price tag (of Obamacare) to just under a trillion dollars. Since then the CBO has revised it's estimate of the cost up to 2.7 trillion dollars. Point to the "doughnut hole" all you want, it doesn't even begin to account for nearly 3/4 of a trillion dollars. It also doesn't erase the fact that there is currently $716 billion dollars less in the overall Medicare budget. You can also try to tell me that the money never leaves the Medicare system as some Democrats try to claim, but then you have to explain a new 3.4 trillion dollar cost for Obamacare. Pick one.
Why would Republicans want to "fix" Medicare. They have been against this kind of entitlement from its inception.
If you scare seniors, you lose. That's what Mitt the Bogeyman and Ryan the Ruffian have been doing to seniors who are scared.
More scared are those who are nearing retirement - it's these people's future medicare benefits Mitt the UnFit and Ryan the Ruffian have threatened to undercut
Here you go, TP

Seems to have gone pretty well.
In politics, you scratch my back, I scratch yours.
So, when Ryan wants a voucher [for mediScare], the vulture wants Ryan - a partnership made in he11.
Man you have got to be @!$%#ing kidding me you are attacking his mom now your a moron IXLR8 along with all the other Leftist Liberal @!$%#s posting in here..
Other wise grow up if you can't post something more intelligent to say, just get up and go get your welfare check and buy your crack with it.
Gee -- Paul Ryan's mommy likes him. Isn't that nice.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is anything sacred to these @!$%#s? Now he's dragged dear old mom out into the public eye:
Mommie, Mommie, I made a boo-boo, please help me fix it!!!!!
OBAMA/BIDEN/HOLDER....2012!!!!
"According to his financial disclosure statements, Ryan’s overall net worth is estimated between $2 million and $7.7 million.
In 2010, the couple paid $34,233 in federal taxes on $215,417 of adjusted gross income, the returns show. In 2011, they paid $64,764 in federal taxes on $323,416 of adjusted gross income. Both years include five personal exemptions for the Ryans and their three young children."
...firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/08/17/13340853-paul-ryan-releases-2-years-of-tax-returns?lite
Sure glad to see he wasn't participating in "INSIDE TRADING" as his net worth would've been quite substantial!
What I don't get are the lies being told about Romney/Ryan versus ACA adjustments to medicare. The cuts are for future savings, not a cut in benefits. The Medicare Advantage plan is too expensive and is not cost effective.
Romney/Ryan want to PRIVATIZE these social nets that has been successful for more than 50 years. Giving a FUTURE 80 year old, a voucher so he/she can choose their coverage and pay extra out of their pockets is NO improvement and this is not being made clear to these seniors.
It is easy to fool old folks, but those who WILL be handed this plan if these two are elected, are going to cry FOUL when they figure out the reality of that plans terms.
Boy oh boy, fools gold and Brian sure got their stupid yaps shut, haha.
So, the typical limp-wristed Liberals are out again groveling in the dirt trying to protect another one of their failing entitlement programs. It must be getting so tiring coming up with so many lies and distortions to save your sacrosanct government disasters.
Isn’t it amusing how much the Libbies were prancing around in 2008 about “change” yet they resist every effort to save their economy consuming government calamities. So the question remains, just what “changes” do they want? None. The alleged “Forward” cabal is as stagnant as molasses in December. This is the embarrassment they have chosen to live with.
Medicare in its current form is unsustainable.
A couple retiring last year will have, on average, paid in about $150,000 in Medicare taxes over their lifetime. However, they will receive more than $350,000 in benefits.
Last year the program ran a combined deficit of $288 billion. Medicares future Unfunded Liabilities, in most optimistic terms, are more than $35 trillion. More realistic estimates put it at more than $90 trillion.
Brokeback Barrack Husseins plan it from the top down. This is the dreaded Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB). They will cut reimbursements to doctors and hospitals. The questions remain. Will another government bureaucracy, of unelected policy wonks, be able to keep costs down when this has never been attempted? Regardless, if IPAB’s cuts are too Draconian in order to preserve Obamacare the results will be catastrophic. Medicare’s own actuary predicts that as many as 15-25% of hospitals could close and some estimates show that 40-50% of doctors will stop taking Medicare. Combine this with the expected 150,000-200,000 doctor shortage by 2025 and the writing is on the wall. Grandma won’t need to be pushed off a cliff, she’ll just die in the waiting room.
Ryans reform is from the bottom up, by increasing competition and consumer cost-sharing. Those over 55 are unaffected, even though I believe they should have the option also. Those under 55 will have the option of staying in conventional Medicare if they want. The cap in growth would be roughly the same as Barrack Husseins. Those who want another option can choose a voucher, or premium support payment based on bids by private insurers in their area. I would expand this to allow interstate purchase of insurance. Imagine the degree of competition this would create. Seniors who choose a lower-cost plan can keep the difference. Those preferring a more expensive plan will pay the difference between the government payment and the premium.
Over time seniors will have to pay more to receive the same benefits, but as noted above Medicare simply cannot survive in its current form. Ryans plan gives seniors options, Barrack Hussein will just continue the same until the system collapses.
By increasing competition in the private sector and forcing consumers to make value-based decisions the Ryan plan allows costs and growth to be restrained. It allows consumers to make better decisions and promotes more competition in the marketplace. This is similar to how Bush’s Medicare Part-D has become so successful.
Medicare Part D is the most cost-effective program within the federal health insurance programs and a good deal for taxpayers. Estimates by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office indicate that Part D's price to the public will come in at 46% less than initially estimated for the first decade.
In fact, Part D is saving the entire Medicare program money, according to a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Improved access and adherence to medicine is saving $1,200 per year in hospital, nursing home and other costs for each senior who previously lacked prescription drug coverage, according to the study. This is saving the Medicare program an estimated $12 billion each year.
It’s a good deal for seniors too because they are paying less out of pocket for their prescriptions. The total average out-of-pocket prescription drug costs dropped between 13% and 15% thanks to the creation of Part D.
Medicare Part D plans are available for as little as $14.80 per month in most States.
The competitive-based Medicare Part D program is working and should be used as a model for reforming other elements of federal health care programs. Medicare Part D enrollees are overwhelmingly satisfied with this program. A recent Medicare Today survey reported that 84 % of seniors are satisfied with the program.
It seems the Republican Programs are much more successful than the Liberals Hope and
ChangeKeep it the Same Even if it Bankrupts the Country.Romney/Ryan 2012 for real Americans.
BTW, has anyone seen Joe “Robinette” Biden stumping for Obamacare lately?
Oh that’s right, they had to put him in his room for a time-out for being the gaffeing-stock of the nation last week. Do you realize this walking buffoon is a heartbeat away from the presidency?
God Bless and save America
Wrong the Tea Baggers and republicants in the House and Senate are the
GRAND OBSTRUCTIONIST PARTY the sole mission to make Obama one term president
and never raise taxes on the rich or ever cut Defense spending but kill
Medicare Medicaid and SS while not passing there own Jobs bills that they keep
turning down
Of course not they haven't read it. Even if they did, they'd chalk it up as "more lies from the left leaning main stream media." You could give them true facts that came from out under their behinds and they still won't agree.
Brianb-999431
Success is measured from where you start. He was handed the worst economy ever. This was as close to a setup as you can get. A collapsing economy losing revenue at a $500 Billion a year clip, unstoppable unfunded spending topping $500 Billion, tax cuts at the top that DISCOURAGES reinvestment and ENCOURAGES massive executive paydays, and totally raped and dysfunctional IRS and regulatory agencies. Willard would have just sold it off for parts.
New debt from old obligations... already told you where THEY came from.
Shows just how lame your accusation really is. Half a brain would tell you that targeted savings from Medicare (Obama's plan) is much more viable and more of a solution that simply capping the governments involvement like Ryan does. Ryan's plan is not new and is just a rehash of what corporations did to disconnect themselves from health care costs. Capping Medicare costs with a voucher scheme does EVERYTHING to end the federal government's problem while doing NOTHING to help health care costs or the cost to the elderly.
Success, again, is measured from where you start. Obama's spending increases are the lowest of any president since and including Reagan. The only new spending that has been done has been aimed at support of the economy victims, stimulus, and fixing the dysfunction left us by Bush.
He kept it alive while Willard would have dismantled it. Ford even supported saving GM because we would have lost the total auto industry and all it's suppliers. But the federal government did not take it over. It doesn't run it.
Wow! Laying that one on Obama is a complete historic rewrite. This one's owned by the Tea Party.
and the GOP helped... how?
Still open... they have no nukes (yet) and we're not in another war... beats GOP every time.
Effects of the economic collapse. Willard's numbers would be no better... maybe even higher. Willard supports lower taxes for the rich, which is a job killing proposition. Low taxes at the top ENCOURAGES huge CEO paydays, which not only removes money from our economy and from businesses, but DISCOURAGES job creation and business reinvestment. And exactly what do you think is driving the gap between the rich and the middle class net worth? And how do you think the rich got richer during this recession while the middle class lost 40% of their net worth?
Addressing the number one thing that makes people poor and keeps them there really shouldn't be demonized... except if you're simply just trying to "make him fail".
We've got much more than just "taxes" on Willard. His economic platform is a farce, his cuts are draconian, and his Vice President is Darwinian... unfortunately we don't know what Willard is... he's kinda hard to pin down on "things".
Lying Ryan is at it again . He lies almost as good as Romney. The seniors are way smarter then you think ..Your voucher program will leave the seniors to pay up to $6000.00 a month for their healthcare if they happen to be in a Nursing home .Your plan leaves them high and dry and broke !
Nursing homes cost at least $450/day!!!!
So much for a voucher system. What a joke!
In Palm Springs Ca-6558379 -- Agreed. With diseases like Alzheimer's increasing, nursing home assistance will become even more important. To the voters under age 55 -- Do you want to take care of your parents with Alzheimer's?
The cut-off of 55 misses a lot of baby boomers who are yet to retire. We need to prepare with real solutions. Romney/Ryan's VourcherCare is not a solution, it's a cop out. They just want to pay ZERO in taxes.
Does the Wisconsin Undertaker really want to induce public mass vomiting? Give us a break. His mother will never have to worry about the costs of insurance or long-term care. Her son's another lying, sleazy hog at the Washington big-money trough. He's set for life. Even if he's driven from Congress (we should be so lucky), his corporate pals will take care of him, and who knows, maybe he'll score his own screamfest on Fox.
So Ryan is going to hide behind mom now and throw around lies so mommy can protect him. :D ROFL classic Republican dodging tactic. :)
Ryan: "Thanks for helping me sell this giant pile of manure on the road Mom"
Ryan's Mom: "Your welcome son."
Ryan: "Now go with these nice young men. They're going to play you some Beethoven and turn you into crackers"
Ryan's Mom: "But,....but,....but....."
Ryan: "It's for the best Mom"
Ryan's Mom: "But,....but,....but....."
Clinton had A budget surplus, but we still had a NATIONAL DEBT. It's not like we had extra money laying around. We still had loans out. Clinton entered during a very large military drawdown after the 1st Gulf war. He didn't spend $h!t on defense for 8 years. That's where his savings came from. Enter Bush. 8 months later, 9/11 happens. Oh, where's my military? Sorely lacking. Ramp up the war machine.
Before the R/R talks about privatizing Medicare into a coupon you take to an insurance company for your health care, I have a question.
Mr Romney,
You turned 65 yrs old earlier this year.
Are you on Medicare? Or did you take a waiver?
If you are taking Medicare, do you have a Advantage plan, medigag, or a heath savings account to pay for your expenses beyond the medicare coverage.
Your wife is 63. I assume your wife has heath insurance under the Romnycare law in MA.
Or does making $57.000 a day get you the opt out of this whole health care discussion?
You just pay as you go.
I as a middle class person would really like to know before you tell me how you are going to repeal the ACA and privatize Medicare for future generations.
Well Ryan's mom does add more weight to the campaign. No really it does. :)
That's pure BS and did you forget about the Yugoslav Wars?
Another republican candidate got his mother to lie about his position on Medicare and it worked.
Selling your mother for a few Senior votes is not the answer. What is she going to say? That her son is a fraud? Oh PLEASE!!!
Have other seniors, those that have researched the subject entirely, talk about it. The ARRP is telling seniors THAT THE RYAN PLAN IS A FRAUD.
THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS TELLING THAT also. If I was running, my mom would surely say whatever just to make me win votes.
PAUL RYAN AND MITT ROMNEY ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR THE 1%. read the facts!!!!! A voucher prograrm will leave you to your own resources, never mid tnat the cost of insurance companies GOES UP EVERY 6 MONTHS.
Beautiful Limpballs, beautiful.
If only we Progressives could scrape these entitlement-minded repubs off our shoe.
God I get so sick of coddling these people who don't want to work.
onermailliw@Clinton had A budget surplus, but we still had a NATIONAL DEBT. It's not like we had extra money laying around.
Hey Slingblade -
Is how you justify the destruction of our economy by the RWNJ Republicans for 2000-2008? You are a complete maroon. However, you make laugh......
O&Joe 2012
@NorthstarDFL - This YouTube I think answers your questions. No surprises really...
The YouTube video is of Representative Rob Woodall of Georgia's 7th congressional district. He is a member of the Republican Party. Prior to being elected to congress, he was the Chief of Staff to U.S. Congressman John Linder.
The video was recorded at a recent town hall meeting where the subject was Medicare. I posted this on another thread but I think it's more to the point here.

A re-post since the above was collapsed:
OBAMA IN 2012.
Ryan: "Oh ye mighty Turd Blossom, please show me the path to election victory"
Karl Rove:"Sure dumbell, first you gotta attack where you know you are weakest. We can't tell America you're going to screw em', rob em' blind, and take their Medicare and Social Security. Get out there among old people with some senile old biddy who's actually stupid enough to trust you.
Ryan: "You mean like my Mom?"
Karl Rove:"Freakin' Perfect!!! Parade her around and have her tell the old people how your vouchers are gonna' help em get real health care. You know. Replace a guaranteed plan with some crap shot, pie-in-the-sky, shot in the dark,........ idiot bait."
Ryan: "I'm lovin' this. And it'll give Mom sumpthin' else to do besides mow my lawn."
Karl Rove:"Riiiiiight. Then we can tell em' there's weapons of mass destruction,......ooooppps.......wait a minute,......used that one already."
Ryan: "Thank you almighty Turd Blossom"
Karl Rove:"No prob,.....now kiss my ring and get outta' here."
Name calling Limpballs said: Why do you support the GOP?
Because it's my right as an American to support who I like. You got something against the freedom we are allowed to exhibit in this country? Do you want to live under socialist/communistic rule where the freedoms we enjoy are taken away from us? Keep on supporting the groups you love so much that want to limit our freedom. Are you a communist in the making, or have you already signed up to the local communist party in your neighborhood?
Sometimes talking with idiots can be fun... sometimes it's a pain in the ass because they can't see beyond their own lunacy.
Enter Bush. 8 months later, 9/11 happens. Oh, where's my military? Sorely lacking. Ramp up the war machine.
And before 9/11 Bush had no interest in building up the military or anything else. He put through a huge tax cut instead of keeping revenue at the same level and paying down the debt. Then when he started spending money like crazy on wars and drug benefits, he still didn't raise revenues to pay for it all. That is why we have the debt we have now. That is why the Bush tax cuts should expire for everyone. We are the ones who ran up this debt without paying for it - we are the ones that benefited from the tax cuts - we are the ones who should be paying for it now.
The just cut spending crowd only want to cut programs that affect the people who received the least from the tax cuts and were hurt the worst by the recession. Spending cuts and tax increases are needed to address the deficit and anyone who believes that only one or the other will do it is selling snake oil.
So let's be clear, for all people 55 and younger - you well be screwed via Ryan and Romney plan and let us not forget that Ryan is 42 years old and never worked a day in his life...
RJ,
I did watch the video of Rob Woodall town hall meeting about Medicare.
This tea party guy is running on the R/R plan to privatize Medicare and repeal the ACA.
Hope the good people of Georgia see through this hypocrite.
Limpballs, don't forget about all those red states also have the highest obesity rates, highest teen pregnancy and lowest teeth to IQ ratio.
Northstar said: I as a middle class person would really like to know before you tell me how you are going to repeal the ACA and privatize Medicare for future generations.
You as an Obama supporter shouldn't care, eh? You are among those that believe Obama is going to win, so why should you worry about it? I only ask because it appears the Obama supporters are under the belief that Obama can't lose.
What I'd like to know is why are you under that strong belief? What has Obama done for this country to exhibit his worthiness to remain as president? Give me specific landmark popular decisions he's made during his first term. Tell me all about how people are in favor of Obamacare... show me the statistics proving his program is widely accepted among the population in general. I'd really like to see them.
What has me puzzled is why liberals are so fired up for Obama... What exactly has he done to help this country out, remove our financial burden and make life better for all citizens...
Paul Ryan showing that Romney not mistaken in their choice. Attacks by Democrats denouncing Ryan intends to destroy Medicare is not true, also we all know that reform is needed and it cannot continue like this, or it will be worse. Also young people support the possibility of having a type of private Medicare that could participate and this not controlled by the Government. Ryan is ultimately a person who know discuss, does not need a teleprompter and knows to explain the problems of our economy and their solutions in a simple language compressible. There is no point of comparison with Joe Biden that makes mistakes every minute.
The lies and propaganda from the left are falling with their own weigh. Support for R&R is growing in any poll, while Obama is loosing ground to Romney instead to solidify his lead not good for the incumbent , one more week Obama will be running behind.
Democrats fool us with Obama the president that should bring us together, it will be insane to vote for him again.
R&R 2012
People 55 yrs old and younger are invincible and will never need Medicare......they think.......So Romney and Ryan will fool them into thinking that a voucher will be all they need to be "independent" to choose whatever insurance company they want...........
To correct InPalmSprings @2.......I think you meant $6000/yr (after accounting for part paid by voucher) rather than per month......Speak from experience there as when on COBRA I had to pay $1000/mo. without a voucher so getting insurance will cost at least that much for senior when they are lucky enough to "choose?" Ryan's plan..........must be nice for these millionairres to come up with these great plans for the "rest of us"
So let's be clear, for all people 55 and younger - you well be screwed via Ryan and Romney plan and let us not forget that Ryan is 42 years old and never worked a day in his life...
Oh...MOMMMY>>>THESE PEOPLE ARE PICKING ON ME WITH FACTS AGAINST MY LIES!!!! What the hell does Ryan think that all seniors are stupid?...What is this a Campbell soup ad? Here son have some Campbell soup it will make you a big strong football player!! If his moms says....Here is my lying son...somebody give me a bar of soap!...Then I will believe her!
Obama/Biden 2012!
Rixar...you are so right, if elected they will go after the money from the seniors above 55 yrs old. Divide and conquer like they did in Wisc.!!!! NOT THIS TIME!!!!
Rixar13.... very true, and anyone 55 and older including those already enrolled, if for one moment you think it wont affect you, it will. It is the republicans long time goal to destroy Medicare and SS that this is where this is headed. Last administration tried very had to privatized SS they didn't succeed, but they will try again, the vouchers for Medicare are also the beginning of their mendacious plan to close that out too.
Republicans do no like or want any kind of social programs and are working very hard to make all of them go away. Anyone who at anytime in their life is vulnerable for lack of funds will find there is little or nothing available to help. No programs for sick or hungry children, sick or hungry pregnant women, they want to defund Planned Parenthood, they are trying to overturn Roe v Wade and they wont help you with your child once it is born. Republicans are not supportive of public schools eventually they'll be targeted in a big way. There will be and are charter schools, run by their buddies as a business, making money for their friends who donate to their campaigns to keep them in office to keep their schools and all the other programs of their choice running.
Don't Vote Republican for any office, local, state or national. It is not in your best or your country's best interest.
Anita
It seems that you don't remember the DOT COM Recession of 2000-2002. Gee who was President in 2000?? Can you say Bill Clinton?? That Surplus was GONE before Bush was sworn into Office.
Romney Adviser: It's 'Politically Unwise' To Campaign In Specifics
The Huffington Post | By Elise Foley
So far, putting Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's ticket hasn't led to any detailed plans for his top issue, the budget. That won't change, according to a Romney aide who spoke to Politico.
"The nature of running a presidential campaign is that you're communicating direction to the American people," a Romney adviser, who is not named, told Politico. "Campaigns that are about specifics, particularly in today's environment, get tripped up."
The issue of the budget, particularly taxes and cuts to entitlement programs, is a pivotal one for the election and is one both campaigns are trying to exploit. For the Romney campaign, that has meant accusing President Barack Obama of decimating Medicare by taking funds from it for his health care law, even though that is a false claim. Ryan's own budget would transform the program to make it almost unrecognizable.
Another Romney official, also unnamed, told Politico the campaign isn't scared to talk about Medicare. "We'll do it for as long as they want," the official said. "Let's do it."
That doesn't mean talking in specifics, however. Romney was vague about his budget plans during the Republican primary -- he said he would cut funding to Planned Parenthood but not much else -- and will continue to be, according to the adviser.
"What you're going to see is a campaign that has clear direction, but not a Simpson-Bowles or Ryan-budget level of detail," the adviser told Politico. "It's not only politically unwise to do that, but it's not how the voters engage in a presidential campaign."
Ryan said earlier this week that he plans to discuss tax plans, but not until after the election.
"That is something that we think we should do in the light of day, through Congress," he said Tuesday on Fox News. He then promised to "have a process for tax reform so that we do this in the front of the public. So no, the point I'm trying to say is, we want feedback from Americans about what priorities in the tax code should be kept, and what special interest loopholes we want to get rid of."
These clowns have no intention of giving details on what they plan to do if elected. They expect us to accept their "Trust Me' mantra and vote for them. Between refusing to release any further details of their income tax forms and now saying we would be tripped up if we laid out a budget plan. What fool would vote for that platform and leave their future to be possibly ruined by Republican/TP goals? We have had plenty of examples of this happening from the last administration and the next lot want us to just trust them.
Here is how it went, TP
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57495919-503544/ryan-in-fla-makes-emotional-pitch-for-medicare/
Seems to have gone pretty well, actually.
Oh- and according to Biden, he and Obama would do not a thing for Social Security- so I guess the cuts already implemented to Medicare, (if you get sick after surgery, or for any other reason need to be re-admitted to the hospital, tough luck), will stay in place.
There's a plan. Just ignore it, and perhaps the Social Security fairy will show up to fix it with a wave other magic wand.
I never realized until I saw this picture that Ryan's mom was Jan Brewer!
The Halloween is still 2 months away, Mitt and Ryan are already getting in the mood to scare seniors with their MediScare.
And the Seniors will defect in large numbers to scare Mitt in the ballot box. and those who scare the last scare the best.
Wow, election is only one week after the Halloween, and Mitt is really scary, habitually tricking the trick-treaters, and be hoist by their own petard.
BTW: As long as we're talking about Grover Norquist, I have always wanted to know: How can so many Republicans blindly follow a man named after a Muppet?
no joe -
Does this argument make sense to anybody?:
"Medicare and Social Security might run into financial trouble years in the future! SOMETHING MUST BE DONE! (we are going to take a meat cleaver and hack them out of the federal budget)"
YAY...?
Ryan's plan for Medicare: The LIES vs. TRUTH
Ryan Lie number 1) No person over 55 will have their Medicare effected.
FACT- Ryan's plan will take Traditional Medicare, and privatize it. Expanding the Medicare advantage plans which were created by the Bush administration as a sweetheart deal for the Healthcare, and Prescription Drug Lobby's. They Bilked the American tax payer out of almost $2 trillion dollars, until Obama changed the rules, and made it where Insurance companies had to provide coverage, at a nominal percentage of profit.
Ryan Lie 2) He will fix Medicare.
FACT- His plan dismantles Medicare, keeping money paid into it by tax payers, and instead, you receive a discount coupon to buy a privatized plan from an insurance company
This means, your Medicare dollars became profit for a large corporation...and your healthcare coverage will be less than what it is now, have deductibles, co-pays, co insurances, and limit what Doctors you can see, and what procedures are available.
**********************************
Ryan's plan outsources jobs, such as billing and many technical positions to over seas countries, making it difficult to rectify any problems which may occur, and delay diagnosis, and create a knot in the healthcare system.
Ryan is not interested in what the outcome of his plan is, and Romney is on board with it...they just want to see the bottom line....like how much money they can bilk the American people out of.
Does anybody really think that having a Medicaid administration in each of 50 separate states is more efficient than having one at the federal level?
Can you add?
No, folks - all this is just one more example of the Republican strategy of "divide and conquer".
Remember when they wanted welfare divided into limited-term cash payments, work supports and childcare subsidies? Where are those work supports and childcare subsidies today?
The goal is "Take it apart and shoot it one piece at a time." I guarantee you there's a plan somewhere in Grover Norquist's office that lays it all out.
Grover Dorkquist: "Thats NOT fair!!"
In answer to Brian's question about his 'freedom' you cannot have freedom without discipline and please Let me be the first to inform you that I really don't want to take away your freedom to get fleeced because that's all business and health insurance companies want to do to us - you included. These industries need regulation thats not necessarily socialism or Communism. Now if you want to get ripped off then vote for the Vulture/Voucher ticket but if you want a fighting chance then Obama/Biden 2012!
Brainb,
This election will be closer than 2008. Obama is still ahead in most swing states. It is all about the electoral count.
It is looking good. But the voter suppression laws and the obscene amounts of superpac money are new variables.
So I do not take anything for granted. Even here in blue MN.
So I will be campaigning for Obama and other state down ballot candidates.
"What has me puzzled is why liberals are so fired up for Obama... What exactly has he done to help this country out, remove our financial burden and make life better for all citizens..."
I voted for Obama because he is of a new generation that has a vision for America. The cold war was over, the neocons of Bush era got us into two unfunded wars and want to be policeman of the world.
On the home front, the trickle down theory of growing the economy, less regulation over finical institutions and Wall street, helped create the great Recession that imploded on our lives in Sept 2008.
Obama also ran on reforming the heath care system that left millions of people uninsured and tied employees to take whatever their employers wanted in heath insurance benefits. Heath care costs were drowning many families.
In his first term he did pass the ACA, which I applaud. He is willing to work with Congress in spite of it being controlled by the party of NO ,Norquist and McConnell. Their one and only goal is to make Obama a one term president. Congress has totally become a institution that cannot function. Just look at their sequestration vote and now complaining after one year of doing nothing. Obama has nothing to do with the the failure of Congress.
When one takes on the entrenched interests decades in the making, change comes in keeping to the new course and slowly moving forward.
That is why I am voting to reelect Obama/Biden for a second term.
Brian, have a nice weekend,
and be sure to know the new requirements in Florida to vote.:)
I believe every citizen has a right to vote in November and I mean everyone.
Do Romney and Ryan think we're all imbeciles?
Telling us what a "wonderful job" the private sector will do providing Medicare and Medicaid for us?
And back we'll go to pre-existing condition exclusions, lifetime payment caps, insurance company death panels who decide what's paid and what's not.
Ah, yes, the free market of healthcare did so much for all of us - we just can't wait to go backwards!
So many lies here or misrepresentation I do not know where to start. Some of you are claiming Grandma will have to pay $6k a month more. Or that Medicare will not pay for nursing homes. It currently only pays for a while as in for rehab or short stays after that until it is said you are no longer improving. Then you are on your own. Been there, done that with parents and a 91 year old aunt. She spent $300,000 of her money until it ran out. Then she qualified for Medicaid as many oldsters who are in nursing homes. No recalculation of Ryan's plan has been done after he included traditional Medicare as a choice.
Communistic? Is that a real word? Bwahahaha. I don't think this guy has ever been consciously funny in his life.
HUMMM! Seems that you clear headed libs talk about Ryan's mother. At least he has respect for her to say that he won't touch her medicare. Where is Obam's brother George. living in some hut. where is his sister. Same place and has given his dictatorial command that no one in his family have anything to do with him. The f-----creep. Obama has 4.5 mil and can't even get them a decent place to live. and you whiners think that he is thinking of taking care of you. Oh boyyy! He sure will, if re-elected. I got that figured out with millions of rounds of hollow point ammo being bought by SS, DHS, OSHA, POST OFFICE, Dept. of Interior. Clear thinkers . why your brain is so garbage with dirt, that a bull dozier could not remove the pile.
Remember the SS lock box. What happened to SS? Think that it is solvent. Wrong answer libs. would rather have private trust with medicare instead of bwhat obama has done to it so bfar. Steal from Peter tp pay bPaul. Go and tell that to some senior citazen. Two states are smart as of now Fl and Wis, 48% don't .trust Obama. What is going btyo happen to the other 48 vstates?
If the main stream Press doesn't say by projection, that Obama hasn't won in PA. say bye-bye to your lover boy. He will be packing after Jan 21-2013. That is a fact, and one I will relish.
Because I have been WORKING ALL MY LIFE, AND THE GOVERNMENT HAS taken MONEY OF MY PAYCHECK FOR MANY YEARS, PUTTING IT IN AN ACCOUNT FOR ME WHEN I GET OLD.
Because the Government has also taken money for my Social Security. BEFORE YOU START THROWING STUPID BS, READ THE FACTS.
I WANT MY money back, IF THE GOP IS GOING TO TELL ME TO GO TO H***L WHEN I GET OLD, and that I have to pay for my own medical expenses. AFTER ALL, THEY TOOK THAT MONEY. They did not ask if I wanted to give it or not.
@Soldan
The dot com bust was 'nothing' compared to the bush inspired housing bubble and that was brought about by Alan Greenspan a Ayn Rand devotee and republican who raised interest rates to 'slow down' the economy because on he and he alone felt it was 'overheating' but his hidden agenda was to destroy the economy to let his boy bush win the election.
And when Bush won he had plenty of surplus... So your analsys of the situation is false.
A campaign based on lies will not win the Presidency. Ryan repeating that Medicare doublespeak about President Obama makes people angry. The information age prevents politicians from getting away with campaign lies. They are too easy to fact check now.
Obama/Biden 2012
@Doc s
Then you are in for a rude awakening.
@lulu
I too had to support my parents and their money was drained but that was BEFORE ACA so you've got it all wrong. If you want to get ripped off then go ahead vote for the Vulture/Voucher Ticket by all means but if you want a fighting chance then Obama/Biden 2012!
ACA has nothing to do with nursing home payments. I voted for Obama last time. Can't this time.
I wo nder if R/R realized they were amongst the largest number of HIV+ people in FLORID A.. and the biggest laugh is they are married BISEXUAL republicans.. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm might be a problem for florida as those hiv+ folks will need every bit of help they can get in the future.. the meds the personal care and other treatments will cost far more than $6,000.00 a month.. the number of POZ people in the villages is larger than those from MIAMI or FT> LAUDERDALE now isn't that interesting
facts obtained aids networks in the state of florida
You think HIV is a political issue?
You are not, exactly, mainstream.
HIV is, (thank God, and research), now a chronic condition- not a death sentence. You think it's some kind of "judgement"? Kindly explain why babies are born with it. What have they done to be judged?
I thought the civilized world was rid of people with attitude's like yours. . .
I'm truly sorry I was wrong.
DOC S.. do you have proof that Ryan treats his mother that well, I think not.. what is your proof on Obama's family , I'd like to see chapter and verse on that one.. next if you google the PRESIDENTS taxes you will see you are wrong, but then again MITTENS has millions overseas in non taxable account, but you are right that's ok.. and last but not least I believe you should be arrested and imprisioned for your statements about all that ammo, cause I am certain you are correct....LMAO
I'm 62 and supposedly safe from those vampires for now, but I have younger brothers who are not safe from them. I want the same for all of my family that I have.
O&Joe in2012!
Well, I want. Mansion and a yacht- so what?
Both programs are going broke- and Obama's answer is to cut compensation for hospitals- so, I suggest that, once you are on Medicare, you not need to be hospitalized- and to cut the amount going in to Social Security.
That makes sense.
no joe no blo nj
HIV is not a political issue unless you are attempting to take services away from people.. an my point was there is a very large number of bisexual males, and maybe their wives also, so the need for big time medical care is not to far away.. and yes I know all about aids, since I have been involved since 1983.. seems to me you have always been wrong..
Gosh, in typical TeaPublican style, BrianB completely sidestepped the question of WHY he votes GOP, instead gracing us all with this baggerish freedom blather. No one was questioning your right to vote however you want, bubba, but the WHY EVEN DO IT question still remains the bloated, disingenuous elephant in the room...
"Hey America, meet me and my mom, both of us will get health care for the rest of our lives that I will make sure you will never get. I know those of you 45 to 55 have paid your whole lives and I'm going to make sure you paid but get a coupon instead!
Sure! What about ALL THE money that has been taken OUT OF MY PAYCHECK ALL THESE YEARS? WHAT WOULD LOSING ALL THAT TO PAUL RYAN AND MITT ROMNEY BE FUNNY? I DON'T THINK IT IS.
Damn that guy should be ashamed of himself. Using his mother like that. That's disgusting.
Romneys original proposal offered the voucher as the only option though the current one leaves medicare clearly anything proposed by Romney now would merely be a plan and could be changed if elected. Instead of elderly people trying to figure out which plans best for them they should determine which party is.
Is the party that created both medicare and social security, the democrats more likely to defend it or the republican party which runs on a platform of drastically reducing all social spending including self funded entitlements like medicare and social security?
Many of those accusing democrats on these boards of trying to scare seniors with scare tactics claiming Romney would cut these programs on most blogs bash anyone including seniors as leeches if they don't currently pay taxes on meager income regardless of how much taxes these seniors have paid over their lifetime.
Many of those who post on here claiming it's absurd to think Romney would cut these programs state on other blogs that they support him because that's what he want's to do. At least man up and admit what your man stands for and you support him for it rather than pretend to support liberal programs that would prevent cuts to these programs.
Northstar, thanks so much for the coherent comments. I also live in Minnesota and my current congressman is John (I'll toe the righty line all day) Kline. I'm voting for Obermuller because I am tired of Kline's obstructionist votes. By the way, for those of you not from here DFL is for Democrats, Farmers, and Labor...all working together. OMG, what a concept!!!
I want Obama/Biden to win this year. They have been doing great things (Remember the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act?) even without the "help" of the right. It was also the first piece of legislation President Obama signed into law.
Imagine what they will be able to accomplish if they get a Congress that actually debates and passes legislation, unlike the righty do nothings who are only interested in jobs, jobs, jo...abortion. How many votes have the righties cast trying to control women's vaginas? Waaaay too many. Get over Roe v. Wade. It's the law.
And folks it looks like Michelle what's her name is on her way out. We are all hoping she'll move back to Iowa. she's...well, yuk is the only word I can think of right now for that repulsive McCarthyist liar.
Our governor Dayton is the only thing here in Minnesota between us and the madness of the right. We appreciate him every time he vetos one of those crazy jobs, jobs, jo-abortion bills yet again.
And Sarah who? After her failed partial term as governor in Alaska why would anyone who lives there vote for her even for dgo catcher? I'm thinking she'd be chasing a stray dog then quit to go for a burger or shoot animals while riding in a helicoptor again...ugh.
And the right using their moms? Pitiful. It shows weakness and fear. Shame on them.
Reading this comments , I have no doubt the libertarded are in desperation, running an smear campaign trying to scare grandma , grampa and insulting younger people because they like Ryan's idea to have a private plan. You bunch of losers the scare tactic of Chicken Little is not going to work, it work before to pass Porkimulus , big scam to provide money to pseudo capitalist. This time the scare tactic of the Neo-Socialist-Democrats are not going to work . People are not stupid Ryan plan do not change for 55 yrs. or older and younger are smart enough to look up for themselves not reading stupid comments like yours.
R&R 2012
The reason it doesn't change for people 55 and older, you ignorant troll, is that seniors VOTE, and if Mitty tried that he would get NO votes come election day.
What's worse than making your mom lie for you?...Tune in tomorrow I'm sure Ryan will surely stoop lower.
So those who are pro Romney/Ryan, aren't you even curious as to why Massachusetts is solidly in Obama's corner, and he has a pretty large lead there? If Romney and his plans are so great then why is the state he was governor of not backing him?
Also be careful what you wish for it might come true. Ryan talks a good talk, but his record shows he doesn't back what he says. He voted for the Bush tax cuts, Bush's Medicare overhaul which was unfunded. So he's a typical hypocritical politician, it's ok if my party puts us in debt but it's not ok if yours does.
BTW a recent poll in WI. that was taken by a widely known conservative paper in a very conservative area, asked would you rather have Ryan as a VP candidate, a Congressman, or neither. Neither won with 56% of the vote. I'm not sure why RCP shows WI. as a toss up state Obama only lost .2 - .4 points after the announcement of Ryan.
I hope his mom makes him eat ALL of his vegetables tonight!
Interesting that Mama is with Lying Ryan. I assume she knows if the Republican plan for Social Security and Medicare were put in place and she was means tested, she wouldn't be on Medicare. Mitt Romney is 65. Did he get his letter from Social Security that he is eligible for Medicare or is he refusing it since he is so filthy rich?
Since we're discussing health care, do you remember this?
Pretzel Chokes, Fells President Bush
By STEPHEN M. SILVERMAN. 01/14/2002
President George W. Bush set off a White House scare on Sunday when he fell off a sofa after passing out briefly from having choked on a pretzel while watching a National Football League playoff game on TV, White House physician Dr. Richard Tubb told the Associated Press.
Now, think about this:
Dick Cheney could have been President of the United States in January 2002!
Scary thought, eh!
Now, think about THIS!
Mitt Romney wants to be President of the United States, and Paul Ryan as his Vice President.
Doc S -- "Remember the SS lockbox. What happened to SS?"
Um, the SS lockbox was Al Gore's silly sounding but very wise idea. It was never implemented, on account of the election being stolen from him in Florida. George W. Bush then tried to privatize SS, saying it would be better for everyone to invest retirement savings in the stock market. Thank God that he didn't succeed at that because we all know how the market crashed on his watch. Imagine driving to work when all the people you see on the corners holding cardboard signs asking for help were old and frail people, in dire need of help. What would you do?
Oh wait, let me guess: You would turn up the radio and stare straight ahead, pretending not to notice.
As already pointed out in another post above, the divide and conquer crap is how Scott Walker saved his arse. Walker told the cops and firefighters, who tend to vote Republican, that they were safe. Just the "other people" had to tighten their belts.
Any senior who believes they are safe, or is willing to throw their children aged 55 or younger under the bus, or who think those children will then feel any sympathy for them when their Medicaid assistance for a nursing home or hospice is gone, needs to think again. Vouchercare is just the first step in the Republican plan to destroy Medicare, and next will be Social Security.
COinFL -- Correct. Dubya tried to privatize Social Security with the cut-off age of 50. Republicans will NEVER stop trying to destroy these programs. The Democrats have always protected these programs.
Save Social Security and Medicare -- Obama/Biden - 2012!
So now, suddenly, Mr. Ryan is parading around his 78-year-old mother to shill for his campaign in the state with the highest concentration of voters over 65 in the country, when we haven't seen her mentioned anywhere before.
Nice family values there!
Fact about Medicare:
FACT: Health care reform (Affordable Care Act) strengthens Medicare benefits, including lower premiums, free preventive care, and cheaper prescription drugs.
FACT: Health care reform already saved Medicare recipients nearly $4 billion on prescription drugs.
FACT: President Obama’s health care law already saving seniors money through lower premiums and free preventive services like cancer screenings, .
FACT: Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) saves Medicare more than $716 billion by cutting waste and insurance company subsidies, and extends Medicare life by 8 years.
FACT: Romney and Ryan would give $150 billion in subsidies back to insurance companies and, amazingly, undo progress to cut out Medicare fraud and abuse.
FACT: Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan’s plan to repeal Obamacare would raise Medicare premiums and prescription drug costs for seniors at least 50% more.
FACT: Romney and Ryan would turn Medicare into a voucher system, raising seniors’ health care costs while giving tax cuts to millionaires & billionaires, and bankrupt Medicare program in 4 years.
FACT: The Romney-Ryan voucher plan for Medicare could raise seniors’ health care costs by $6,400 a year per CBO analyst.

Well at least he has one senior and woman who will vote for him, but a mother has to love you. Doubt there's another woman or senior stupid enough to vote for Romney/Ryan unles they're filthy rich and hate other women.
@lulu
ACA pays for everything and that includes the 'assited living facilty' you really have to get your newsource from somewhere else. Really your arguments are always 'false'
You have no idea about what you are asking about. Provide the paragraph that says ACA pays for assisted living. Can you even imagine the cost. How dumb.
Ethelouise.
Try this. If you understand what SCOTUS ruled, you will understand that the expanded Medicaid situation was ruled to be not really extended. And it is Medicaid that would deal with this. The ACA never addressed assisted living directly. Do you have a clue about how much that would cost? Here is a states interpretation prior to the SCOTUS ruling.
www.cga.ct.gov/2011/rpt/2011-R-0108.htm
You go tell that to your homeboy Dubya and all of this lying crooked friends who obviously weren't worried about a national debt when they took advantage of the anger from 9/11 to coax the country into TWO wars that had NOTHING to do with capturing the murderer of 3000+ people using money to fund it from a.......what was it you called it........oh yeah A NATIONAL DEBT!!!!
Now Obama's in office an all of a sudden you CONservatives care about the national debt. GTFO with that crap.
F'U paul ryan and your mom too...your family are millionaires and are also collecting social security and medicare combined...your family is part of what the problem is...the system was developed for seniors that can't afford health care or health insurance, not to game the system and get free medical and social security payments when you absolutley don't need it to survive....start means testing these programs so it's there for people who really need it and not closet millionaires like your family!!
ROMNEY + RYAN = LYING MULTI-MILLIONARIES not for all of "we the people", but only for their own!!
LMFAO!! LMFAO!!!
So, what happens when government stepped in and offered students financial aid (vouchers)? Financial aid wasn't enough to cover all the school bills and the costs skyrocketed.
Its not rocket science. Offer vouchers and everything will just go up. You don't have the big government negotiating good prices for you anymore. You will be paying more out of your own pocket.
Ryan to his mom: “Don’t worry mom just tell the people your son would never hurt old people and as far as your health care you’ll be just fine because the Koch brothers are paying me lots of money to destroy Medicare so we won’t have a care in the world.”
Ryan is just another Republican pig willing to sacrifice the lives of millions of Americans so he can please his rich masters. These greedy @*^holes can't wait to get their hands on the Social Security trust fund and Medicare trust fund and privatize them. I guarantee you if they do within thirty days at least 25% of OUR money would just disappear into the black hole called Wall Street. BTW that's over one TRILLION dollars.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Come November, any average American that votes for ANY Republican is cutting their own throat. The Republican Party is a criminal organization.
Lush Limpballs
Right on!
As a parent with a child the same age I would be embarrassed it my son were making these wild plans to reward the rich and penalize the poor and middle class!
Repeated for emphasis

Mom sells out America for Dirtbag son, undoing Medicare will backfire on Momoney & Ryrand !!!
@lulu
Despite the name calling I happen to know for a fact. I have helped a friend who has had a series of stroke's since 2006 and this is in the here and now, this woman pays nothing, nothing out of pocket for her health care and she lives in an assisted living facility she labors under the delusion that she is still on her husband's pension, when in fact she is on medicare. She is a registered republican and always votes against her self admitted best interests because she thinks she does not live off anybodies tax dollars!
I have never told this woman any different because I cherish our friendship. But I do not believe the Whoppers you insist upon telling on this board because none of what you speak of has been my experience therefore I am compelled to believe your making this stuff up just to win the argument but for heavens sake if you vote republican you will be done for, I just wish you were bright enough to realise that.
NorthstarDFL -- Melissa Harris Perry snapped me out of it on this one. Rightwingers keep saying everyone agrees we need to make sure voting is not fraudulent, and she said NO everyone does NOT agree. This is propaganda and this is voter suppression, period.
Republicans want to keep voter turn-out low. Muddying the waters with lies also causes not only confusion but also apathy, which causes folks to stay home. Republicans are so desperate they are undermining our unconstitutional democracy at the most fundamental levels.
Aside from Romney and The Boy Who Cried Wolf about paying his taxes, we have Little Red Ridinghood -- Watch out, it's a wolf in disguise, and that wolf ate your grandmother and now he's coming after you!
Saw this in another Article........Great Description of Paul Ryan and really funny.
"At first glance, Ryan looks uncannily like a grown-up Eddie Munster. His gloomy expression, gray complexion and huge widow's peak make him look like some baleful predator.
Wouldn’t Mitt “ F da Poor” Romney make a great Pinocchio.
Pinocchio / Eddie Munster 2012..........da Republican TeaBilly Conservative Choice.....LOL.
You BetCha.....Fer Sure.
Thurston Howell III / Eddie Munster 2012!!
Perfect roadkill,....perfect,...HAHAHAHAHAHA!
You're killin' me man!!! Bwahahaha
The Ryan Plan calls for you to give all the money that you paid all your life in social Security and Medicaid to the 1%, and subsidies for BIG OIL.
Are you going to give them your money, while you decide if you can buy medicines or food? Do you think that Mitt ROmney and his wife are going to come to your rescue?
Thurston Howell III / Eddie Munster 2012!!

You forgot Sarah "The Wasilla Hillbilly" Palin as Secretary of State..YOU BETCHA BY GOLLY!!!!!
"Oy, my son may be not a very honest person, but he is still a very nice boy. I'm his mother and I should know. I just wish he do something important like be a doctor and make his mother real proud. Yes?"
I will be one of those voucher people and so is my husband. I have been working since the age of 13. My husband works as well. We are not looking for free money, just what is ours. Under this plan, using today's costs, since we don't know what the economy will look like in 10 years, we will lose about $5000 or more a year, and that is on the cheap side. That assumes we pay around $1500 a month, or $18,000 a year. The vouchers at $6500 a person, will only cover $13,000. Over 10 years that would be $50,000. I am not including deductables or co-pays. I am also helping an ill brother in law (MS) with food, and a recentlly divorced brother with his food bills. I have an 80 year old mother who is in great health now, but I may have to help her in the future. I also have a second child in college that I help to pay for. Romney and Paul may help my mother, so they can get her vote, (which they won't get), but they obviously don't want my vote, my husband's vote, or my kids votes.
pibs,
I am sure your 80 year old mother can see through this scam.
Just point out her family facts.
Singlepay @2.1:
Your comment that nursing homes charge $450/day is not correct. Regardless, Medicare does NOT pay for "custodial care" in nursing homes.....it will only pay for "skilled care" and that is defined very, very narrowly so in most cases with a parent etc. you are on the hook for the full amount...........that is why many people who can afford it buy Long Term Care policies (to pay for the nursing home care that Medicare will not pay for).
We found this out with our father who died while still needing skilled care........but if he had lingered we would have had to pay for his stay in the nursing home when he was in need of only daily needs of living (as they define custodial care). Nursing home costs vary around the country and can easily be $80-150/day depending on the facility and location.

Bachmann for Special Attorney on LGBT issues, Santorum for Birth Control Tsar, Ricky-Bobby Perry for Commerce, and Newt for Obesity Tsar
OBXRon:
Or there's my 89 year old mother's case. She's dependent upon using a walker and pays $93.00 per day for Basic Assisted Living [three meals per day and bi-weekly apartment cleaning]. When she fell and broke her elbow, the surgery to replace her elbow was done as an out-patient. No 3-day stay in a hospital, therefore medicare would not pay for her to be in rehab in a nursing facility. [Just try dressing, toileting, etc. without the use of your dominant arm.] SO, in addition to paying $93.00 per day to keep her apartment, she had to pay $270.00 per day for being in rehab/nursing care [$10,890.00 for 30 days]. Thankfully, as Children of the Great Depression, she and my late father lived within their middle class means [rather frugally, really] and saved for their old age so they wouldn't be a burden to either their children or society.
The serious condition to now consider is, how will Liberal Progressive function in a new world governed by the Ayn Rand/John Birch Society. They have done everything to win and will most likely win big this November. The GOP may now control both Houses of Congress, the Presidency, majority control of State Governments and the Supreme Court in their back pocket.
They have already signaled that Roe v Wade is overturned. Bill O'Riley on Fack News already said the Civil Rights Act is the cause by Black people has low marriage and high prison rates. With such a swipe of this mindset we now see every progressive accomplishment from ACA thru to everything New Deal is now up for redaction. This is a group whose goal is to demolish the EPA, The Department of Education and get this;
The NRA will become a Federal Goverment Agency.

and the Secret Word for today is….
ROMBALONEY!
Pigs will be Pigs, the Moron drags his BirthBagger down the toilet with Romoney, my son can do no wrong. If my Boy killed the Middle Class - My son can do no wrong. If my son killed babys & old Lady's in the street for the Kocheads, My son can do no Wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If that comment is indicative of the average Obama supporter's mindset, then God help us all.
Yo,
Myth "F da Poor" Romney and Paul " Middle Class Warfare" Ryan.........Good Luck getting the other 99% to vote for ya. You BetCha…..Fer Sure.

gray complexion and huge widow's peak make him look like some baleful predator.
He is a predator. The WORST kind. Telling seniors not to worry, the wolf on sheep's skin. HE is selling his OWN MOTHER to get votes. Do you really think that he is going to look after seniors?
He is a vampire, witing to suck the blood of Americans.
The republican ticket this year is about as exciting and inspiring as a pile of feces. The sad thing is many americans will give them their vote and get absolutely nothing in return, because they want president Obama to lose so badly.
These people propose nothing to solve the healthcare crisis. Vouchers to pay for healthcare ? Is this a joke ?
Funny how a lot of americans don't mind the govnt taking charge of something as costly and detrimental to our finances as unneeded foreign wars, but overseeing healthcare like in other civilized nations ? Oh no ! that's socialism, right ? right...
A political parody song by Bruce-1628250, to the tune of Thumbalina

RyRand is the voice of the Devil, "Catholicism" At it's Best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This idiot drags his mom around on his tour of lies!!!
One idiot begots another idiot!!
Obama/Biden-2012 The only hope for the middle class-Don't let the GOP take us back!!
Just cause she's old doesn't mean she's wise. Oh, yeah, she raised Ryan! She must be a dope.
I guess Ryan thinks that hiding behind his mommy will make his lies believable and maybe get us mean, nasty Libs to quit picking on him.
Not so much.
He's copied Sarah, only he brought his special needs mom instead of a special child.
Paul Ryan is a male version of Sarah Palin, just more arrogant -if that ever was possible- He is telling seniors that he will turn Medicaid into VOUCHERS. Many seniors will see the s***t hit the fan if they vote for this predator.
HE IS JUST AS CARING AS YOUR GOVERNOR, BUT WORST.
Really? Who was it that made it impossible for Obama to dump Biden by saying Obama should?
where is obama's sister or brother. living in some cheap dive And what about his grand mother where was she residing before she died. not down in Fl in some retirement community with the help of her son paying expensives. And obama with 4,5 mil. You might call ryan a blood sucker, but I will call obama a first rate sleeze.
Obama has a sister who is a teacher. He knows what it is to come from nothing and become something. The things he's doing for America is not because he needs them. If he and his family left the WH tonight, they will have health care, a decent retirement, children attending the best schools (which was the case before he became President). The average American has to truly ask themselves, who cares for the working class and who cares for the 1%? If you have half a brain, it's truly a "NO BRAINER."
Ayn Rand is Ryan's Hero !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Better than Marx and Mao, Obama's heros.
Mitt "F da Poor" Romney and Paul “Middle Class Warfare” Ryan are nothing more than Two “Howdy Doodie Political Puppets” sitting on da Koch Brothers Lap.
You BetCha....Fer Sure.
Ryan's Mom looks a little like Ayn Rand !!!!!!!!!!!
Rudy Giuliani is another follower of Rand !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shameful and Sad that Monster Paul Ryan has to hide behind his mother on stage. He seems so afraid to stand on the stage alone and face the Seniors who's medicare he will destroy.
Shameful still is that his Mother would turn traitor and support a man that will destroy Medicare for Everyone not just those under 55.
In 2012 vote for President Obama he works very hard for seniors and defends us from monsters like Monster Paul Ryan.
And thats my opinion

Sounds to me like you have a major case of rich envy jstdafacts. In fact, I haven't seen so much envy in a poster in a very long time. A list of rich people that was compiled by some liberal group to point out a bunch of nonsense.
I guess there's no rich democrats that want anything, is there? I got it... the rich democrats are all benevolent... and want to contribute all their hard earned money to the government for no exchanges... no wants... no desires... that's because rich democrats are the kindest, most giving people in the entire world... ever since the beginning of time all the way to this very moment....
Excuse me while I go puke.
Ya see Folks,
That’s what happens when you Mix da Republican Kool Aid with da TeaBilly Juice……it makes ya sick to ya Stomach.....just ask Brianb-999431.
You BetCha.....Fer Sure.
You're excused. Now stay in the bathroom.
jstdafacts,
Great information on your part. It's amazing that these tea bag republicans vote against their own interest? It's like chickens that support KFC.
Is Romney the only one getting large donations, I think not. That is what politicians do; ALL OF THEM. And honestly you don’t know the reasoning behind any one so stop the nonsense, you sound uneducated and ignorant when you try to make people believe something you know nothing about….and that's a fact!!
Yer still fergittin' Sheldon Adelson ~ that Mafia-style casino operator worth billions who has pledged $100-million to defeating Obama and who has already dropped $10-million in the GOP till. Now you just have to wonder what kind of favors this hoodlum wants for that kind of an ante. I'm sure its all for "love of country" and Old Glory. (dripping with sarcasm)
Thank you for the great information, you know you hear bits and pieces about these donations but you apbsolutely highlighted what our future will look like under Romney/Ryan. It is a class watfare in this country already and anyone who doesn't think so is blind. Every large corporation is shipping more and more jobs over seas every day and we keep importing poisonous junk from China to help them build their wealth and military. Where as the trade sanction with this communist regime?
wow! really good information, I will be passing these FACTS along in social networking. The more people are informed of the truth the better off we will be. Thanks ;-)
Telling the TRUTH is not envy. All of you are DELUSIONAL if you think that these people are really coming forward for you. KEEP DREAMING. WHEN YOU GET TO BE 64, AND YOU DO NOT HAVE THE $100,000 us DOLLARS FOR THE BYPASS THAT YOU WILL NEED, OR THE CANCER TREATMENT, OR anything else. I AM SURE Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan will go personally to your side and help you.
Also, you won't have ANY of the money that they have been taking from your paycheck. IT WILL ALL BE INVESTED IN WAR, AND BUSINESS LIKE DRILLING FOR OIL, ETC.
DUH. just de facts. Don't like captialism. Hummm. must be living off the obama teet. suck hard now. You have plenty of compitition with millions of others. yum-yum-ytummy.
Most of the people that are giving MILLIONS TO THE Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan CAMPAIGN have a vested interest in DESTROYING THE ENVIRONMENT. They do not believe in Global Warming, and they will turn this country into a gigantic CESSPOOL. THEY DO NOT CARE, BECAUSE WITH THE PROFITS, THEY CAN LIVE in Switzerland, or any other country that has SENSIBLE ENVIORNMENTAL LAWS.
This is the direct result of Citizens United. This is their golden Rule: "He who has the gold makes the rules.".
So much for the American experiment with democracy.
Mik....and Ann said Mittster was gold yesterday.
By da Way…….Did any of these Republican TeaBilly Conservative Politicians Vote to Repeal their Own Socialist Healthcare that they Receive.? You know…………da one that that Covers them and their Families (Including Birth Control) all paid for by Our Tax $$$$$$$$.
I hear Crickets Chirping……
Lets break this down in simple terms. Republican TeaBilly Conservative = Self Righteous Hypocrite.
Ryan's Medicare plan reopens the prescription doughnut hole. His tax proposals leave Romney paying less than 1%.
Hell I bet Willard doesn't pay any Federal income taxes.
The key word is Federal.
Willard didn’t say he paid 13 percent of his income in federal taxes every year for the past decade.
He said, "I did go back and look at my taxes and over the past 10 years I never paid less than 13 percent," Romney told reporters after landing in South Carolina for a fundraising event Thursday. "I think the most recent year is 13.6 or something like that. So I paid taxes every single year."
Uh ~ ~ yep. Property and school taxes on his Houston rent houses, sales taxes on all purchases, luxury taxes on certain items for faire wyfe, automobile taxes on his several vehicles, excise taxes, state income taxes, property taxes on his several homes, and maybe even some federal income taxes. When you are handling $20-million a year and have the assets Romney has, it isn't difficult to meld all of that into a 13% payment.
Jim in Texas, don't forget ballet classes for his dancing horse :)
Suzi Laughlin
And a stable closet full of tutus
If that is the truth, then he should have NO PROBLEM showing his tax returns. It is like Bill Maher said. Next time that an Olympian wins a gold medal, he/she is going to make a telephone call to the IOC, telling that she/he broke the record of Michael Phelps swimming, and WE SHOULD TAKE THE WORD FOR IT.
let obama show his school records. What? he afraid that the truth be known he is a felon. Can't be president you know. I want obama's records. PERIODS. and no excuses. None. NADA,
Doc S: Has Romney released his school records? I'll make it easy, no. No presidential candidate in history has ever released school records yet every president in recent history has released tax returns. Could your argument make any less sense? Some of Bushs were leaked illegally.
Shows how intellectually challenged some people are if they believe you can become President of the U.S. without showing a birth certificate and having an extensive background check. Maybe if these idiots leave the country and take their kids, we won't lag so far behind the rest of the world academically.
When a Republican was in office John Boehner and Mitch
McConnell voted without hesitation to pass raising the Debt ceiling even
stating that they hope this passed unanimously.
Years the Republicans voted to raise the Debt Ceiling Bush signed into law
2002 350 Billion in tax cut to big business and 450 Billion increase
2003 450 Billion in tax cuts to Big Business and 900 Billion increase
2004 600 Billion in tax Cuts to Big business and 800 Billion Increase
2006 670 Billion in Tax cuts to Bug Business and 781 Billion Increase
2007 700 Billion tax cuts for Big Business and 850 Billion Increase
2008 450 Billion tax Cuts to Big Business and
Total 3.2 Trillion to Big Business $4 Trillion Debt Ceilng
increases under Bush
Total 7.2 Trillion in the Red…..
Also fought wars off the books for entire 8 years Bush was
in office but still have to pay for it and those cost another 4.1 trillion which averaged out to 200 billion a year
for each war.
4.1Trillon wars plus the 7.2 Trillon Tax cut business tax
cuts loopholes debt = 11.3 trillon for Obama coming into the office.
Republicans voted to raise the Debt Ceiling every time it
was brought up while a republican was in office and I goggle there response
then it was Boehner and McConnell who said “there should not be any politics
come into play when it comes to a increase in our national debt we need to pass
this to continue to operate”. Also Mike
Pence of Indiana in 2002 said it as a necessity to raise the National debt.
Bush a republican was in office then but now the same Mike Pence now says he
will not vote to raise the Debt ceiling without cuts to programs in healthcare
and Medicare and all of which no cuts for defense or ending the Wars. Now
Republicans and Tea Party think it’s a Great idea to play politics while a
Democrat is in office.
Folks,
Who just Blocked da Campaign Finance Reform Bill?
Who just Blocked Obamas Job Bill?
Who just Rewrote and put a Loophole in da House Version of da Stock Act. You know da Billl that would make it Illegal for Politicians do be involved in Insider Trading Antics. How many people have gone to Prison for this and yet they think they are “Exempt” from da Law.
You Guessed it…………Cantor, Boehner, McConnell and da rest of them Republican TeaBilly Conservative Politicians.
Can you imagine da Shenanigans if Mitt “F da Poor” Romney and Paul “Middle Class Warfare” Ryan get Elected.
You BetCha…..Fer Sure.
If it were up to Mitt “ F da Poor” Romney and Paul “Middle Class Warfare” Ryan…………they would only allow Corporations to Vote and not da Public. Remember Folks…..Corporations are People too.
You BetCha…..Fer Sure.
Moron.
IndependantinCali, if your believe any thing that comes out of the mouth of Romney or Ryan, you are surely what you call others. And that is a FACT!
None of you clowns have spewed a fact yet
WOW..............Job1 and Jim.............what an interesting observation.
Romney must be something and maybe you have uncovered what that might be...........If we all added up "Taxes" we pay then that would include Federal + State + local/county + Sales + Personal and Property Taxes and whatever I forgot...........Then a number of 13% would look hilarious when all of us "commoners" are in the 20-30+% range.
Romney must be HIDING........etc.
If liberals got paid one dollar for every lie they told, the national debt would be gone and all of Obamas bribes to pass obamacare would be paid off. I never seen a group of people so full of hate and name calling. It is obvious you don't take the time to research and learn.
Obamas last budget proposal was defeated 97-0. Dems don't even agree with Obama, not one! He can't get one vote on his budget and you trust him to run healthcare? Are you people NUTS? Yet you whine repubs are blocking everything? How do you block a proposal that can't muster one lousy vote?
Obama and Soros want wind and solar energy, so while energy costs rise, who benefits? Not the poor and the middle class. Yet you claim Obamas for the poor and middle class, really? If so, why wouldn't he try to keep prices down? All smoke n mirrors. Obama and Soros laughing all the way to the bank at your expense.
Obama says "Stay thirsty my friends, drink up!"
If liberals got paid one dollar for every lie they told, the national debt would be gone
Isn’t it Amazing, you always hear the Republicans and TeaBilly Politicians Threatening to Reduce or Stop Payment on Unemployment, Social Security, Medicare, Food Stamps, Military Pay, Student Loans, Benefits , Etc. But have you ever heard of them Threatening to Reduce or Stop any of Their Pay, Healthcare and all the other Special Perks they receive (Paid for by our Tax $$$$$$$).
Lets break this down in simple terms. Republican TeaBilly Conservative = Self Righteous Hypocrite.
Just De facts. better know what the hell you talk about. Seems that the dems put a kibosh on military, SS. medicare spending when they can't get their crying little girl whaw-whaw-whaw, way. Why don't the dems as well. Because they love money even more than the Rep. "I am going to spend your money, but not touching mine FOOL"
watch CSPAN moron and learn something about your umbilicus's party
his mother is a prop for his line of (b.s.) . with the money the family has no need for health care,is he kidding me.
The Top 10 Poorest States in the U.S. are Republican States. Do you ever hear the Republicans talk about the Poor or Poverty in those States? The answer is “Never”. It just so happens most of those States are in the South and have “Right To Work Laws”. How’s that working out for ya?
And here is da Real Kicker: All those Republican Politicians in those States have Good Salaries, Health Care, Pension, Vacations, and all kinds of Special Perks……paid for by our “Tax $$$$”. Hmmmmm.
The most impoverished state is Mississippi, and it's followed by Arkansas, Tennessee, West Virginia, Louisiana, Montana, South Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama and North Carolina.
Lets break this down in Simple terms. Republican TeaBilly Conservative = Self Righteous Hypocrite.
Uninformed moron

Obama/Biden 2012
Good post jstdafacts, but as you can see, some morons have moronish come backs to it. ROFLMAO
Your self-loathing needs to stop. On second thought, don't.
AMEN
Let me break this down in Simple terms, 44 states with increased unenjoyment last month. Bye-bye Obummer
A WAR PLANE WILL COST ONE BILLION DOLLARS. Paul Ryan wants to give that money to the military, and let you die if you need medical assistance in your old age. That is his "plan"
Go ahead and vote for him. I guess you can use LEAD in the bullets as aspirin.
Just de fact. Right to work states work just fine. no unions to join and the worker can-can keep money instead of paying union dues. and you can quite without notice. And no company can not deny you of work because of not being in a union. Tell that to union members. some northern states are going for right to work. just de factsw.
Guess what? California created more jobs in June-July than any other state.
California also pays more taxes than any other state.
United we bargain, divided we beg.
President
Barack Obama and his aides are considering a temporary cut in the Social
Security payroll tax — this time on the employers’ side. The potential new tax
break would be on top of a $111 billion cut in workers’ payroll taxes that took
effect in January.
It's a reminder that despite Republicans’ portrayal of
him as someone determined to raise taxes, Obama has a solid record as a tax
cutter since taking office.
The lame-duck deal with congressional Republicans which
he agreed to and signed into law last December cuts taxes by $374 billion this
year and by nearly $900 billion over 10 years.
And some of the provisions in that law benefit the
wealthy — like extending until the end of 2012 the low tax rates on dividends
and capital gains signed into law by George W. Bush.

tax cutting in face of GOP criticism
vs. the GOP establishment
Discussion: The week in review
Rick Perry's moment to step in 2012 field?
Of course, it wasn’t Obama’s preference to extend the current income tax
rates, with a 35 percent top rate, on upper-income people. He had to agree to
do that in order to get any deal at all in December.
Video:
Pa. congressman proposes penny tax debt plan (on this page)
Other provisions in that tax deal benefit people who live
from paycheck to paycheck — for example, an increase in the size of the child
tax credit for low-income workers.
Stimulus included tax cut
The 2009 stimulus, which Republicans love to deride, was
in fact a significant tax cutting bill. There were more than $300 billion in
tax breaks, preferences, and credits in that legislation — including the Making
Work Pay Credit which was essentially a big tax cut for workers earning less
than $75,000 and couples making less than $150,000 a year.

And even though Obama’s fiscal year 2012 budget proposal,
unveiled last February, won’t be enacted into law, it stands as an official
statement of what he wants to do: increase taxes for those making above
$250,000, and enact major tax cuts for many people below that level.
The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center said in its analysis,
“Relative to current law, the entire package of (Obama FY 2012) proposals would
reduce taxes in 2013 for about three-quarters of all households and raise taxes
for about 6 percent … On average, taxes would drop an average of nearly $1,700
in 2013.”
Obama has come some distance from where he started in his
first budget blueprint in 2009, when he proposed a new $80 billion-a-year
greenhouse gas permit system that would operate like a tax. That idea died in
the Senate last year.
'Taxes have been lowered'
“In practice, taxes have been lowered during the president’s
term, and part of that has been at his behest, because the 2009 stimulus tax
cuts were something he wanted,” said Roberton Williams, a tax expert at the
nonpartisan Urban Institute in Washington.
Last December’s tax bill “was a compromise deal, but in
any case, he wanted to cut taxes below what they would have been this year, he
just would have been cutting them for 98 percent of the population, instead of
100 percent of the population,” Williams said.
Republicans, of course, will be quick to remind voters
that Obama has signed some significant tax increases, especially those
contained in last year’s health care overhaul. Most notably among them: a $210
billion increase over seven years in Medicare taxes on high-income people.
But with the exception of relatively trivial items like
the tax on indoor tanning (worth $200 million this year — practically pocket
change considering the $3.7 trillion federal budget), and small revenue raisers
like a tax on pharmaceutical firms (which will net $2 billion this year), most
increases in the overhaul will not take effect until 2013 at the earliest.
The penalty on people who choose to go without insurance
doesn’t take effect until 2014. And the tax on high-cost “Cadillac" health
plans isn’t scheduled to take effect until 2018.
Mostly — but not always — Obama has been true to his
stated belief: try to raise taxes on upper-income people and cut taxes for the
middle class and those below.
While that doesn’t fit the view of most budget hawks —
including those on the president’s own deficit reduction commission — that
almost everyone will need to pay higher taxes in order to avert a debt crisis,
it is his record.
What is it with these Republican men hiding behind mommy's skirts? And, making mommy lie for them that they would NEVER vote against their Social Security or Medicare benefits, even though the goal from the right wing it to take those programs down?
Berg in North Dakota is starring his mommy in such commercials. She looks directly at the teleprompter and reads what is written for her, and declares that Berg would NEVER vote to cut those programs, even though he has.
Which makes her a what? Yep, a liar.
Not playing well in North Dakota. Berg is a wealthy man. And his mom has to worry about Social Security. Really?
If you Republicans can only think to get elected by hiding behind mommy's skirts, got news for you...THAT IS NOT LEADERSHIP!
What the Republicans are desperately hoping you don't notice, is the reason they do not attack these programs for the current senior population is that seniors vote. And they will vote AGAINST that in droves.
Newday, in case you missed that reason .... "Oy, my son may be not a very honest person, but he is still a very nice boy. I'm his mother and I should know. I just wish he do something important like be a doctor and make his mother real proud. Yes?"
old Jewish joke about a son becoming President but relevant
Love it bcwc!
http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2012/07/the-3-reasons-why-romney-wont-release-those-tax-returns/260068/
3 reasons suspected that Romney won’t release taxes^^
Here we go . . Some nice liberal Men who would like . . .
. . . TO STONE Ryan's nice Senior-citizen Mother and her wayward son in the street TALIBAN-style!! You great guys go get 'em
ANybody under 55 that votes for Romney/Ryan should have their head examined! Or over 55 for that matter! LOL
Another uninformed moron.. Most people under 55 will NOT have Medicare because the system will be bankrupt if we continue on the same course.
Medicare will not go bankrupt under the Dems and Obama. They are strengthening medicare. You right-wing liars aren't fooling us.
If the TP/GOP get elected, most people under 55 won't have jobs. America will be on its last legs. But, the rich will come through nicely by moving to foriegn countrys after looting America.
IndependantinCali. You do not know know what you are talking about. Needs reform, yes. Need vouchers, absolutely not.
Remember, (re: SS) in the 1960s we were told that Social Security would not be there for us either. I'm 73 I have Social Security. (A little off post. sorry)
Privatize anything and it is gone.
So to avoid that potentiality, Romney-Ryan would just abolish it for a voucher plan. Consider this ~ you get $6,000 in coupons to go buy insurance. The policy that is affordable has a $1,000 deductible and only pays 70% on "medically necessary" charges (the carrier decides what these are, not your doctor). An overnight stay in a hospital is now about $9,500 ~ much more if you come through the ER. How's your 6-grand holding up? Now you have medicines with at best a 50% copay. But wait ~ you have arthritis, COPD, Kron's disease, need dialysis, have a history of heart diseasE ~ ~ YOU CAN'T GET COVERAGE BECAUSE OF A PRE-EXISTING CONDITION. REMEMBER, ON DAY ONE, WE REPEAL 'OBAMACARE.' Sorrrrrry, but thanks for playing anyway.
Jim in Texas,
You are so right.
Romney said he will repeal ACA as a first priority.
Then he will privitize Medicare for future generations.
Millions of uninsured will never see 65 to even get the worthless coupon in the first place !!
You are right, Medicare will not go bankrupt under Obummercare. Reason- taking 700 billion from the current medicare system and coupled with the 500 BILLION IN INCREASED TAXES, it will stay solvent. Will you pay more yes. Who gets hurt-the poor. Take a single parent making $24,000 a year working for a company with 49 or less employees. Employer doesn't have to pay for healthcare for his employees because he has less than 50 workers. Now it's up the worker. $2000 a month after taxes, rent , food, utilities, car, car insurance, clothes. Has very little left to pay for health insurance- BOOM -Pay the IRS $750 fine. So tell me, who is gonna get F-ed under Obummercare?
Problem with your thesis, Oner, is that a person in that financial condition would qualify for federal assistance in purchasing insurance coverage. And a single "parent" that didn't opt for healthcare to protect their child is not a very responsible parent. You can't invent a scenario in which coverage under ACA (Obamacare) is beyond reach of even the most indigent because at some point Medicaid would kick in ~ at least for the child. The f--king comes when there is a need for coverage and there is none. That's when you and I get to pay for it through write-offs by hospitals and doctors. They reclaim their losses through higher charges and fees passed on to those who can and will pay.
Amazing the right wing doesn't get this, Jim.
Any one want to talk about fixing Medicare?
I will even though it isn't broke. Raise the medicare tax rate from 1.45% to 1.75% and it would remain solvent beyond the baby boom generation. Obamas plan negotiates massive cuts from hospitals and drug companies because hospitals can afford to bring down rates when 75% of the people in their emergency rooms won't be non paying and drug companies because more people buying more medicine means they can charge less and make more. Obamacare alone makes Medicare solvent for 20 years.
I appreciate the discussion. I have read that one in six hospitals will not survive these cuts. Of course, some is because of poor management. I do wonder ,if true, how that will impact the wait for care.
We already have more military power than MANY NATIONS COMBINED. THE GOP WANTS TO INCREASE THE MILITARY budget. THEY WANT TO BUY MORE WEAPONS, AND THEY HAVE THE WEAPONS MANUFACTURERS GIVING BIG BUCKS to the GOP.
Mitt Romney is READY to attack IRAN. He is not sending his sons to war. He is sending YOUR CHILDREN. Do YOU KNOW THAT ONLY IN July there were 30 veteran suicides?
Tell that to Mitt Romney. See if HE CARES
Rep for billionaires:They have, found out that they are smarter thanh the stup lib. .they are going to vote for R/R because 48% in Fl and 48% in Wis. don't trust Obama, Seems that your boy kinda skipped out in Wis, knowing that walker was gonna be re-elected with a bigger margin than the last election. And you think that he is gonna help you. Hahahahahahahaha
Wis for R/R they won't forget.
Romneyhood wants to raise taxes on me and mine, give himself a big tax cut, and increase our military so he can start a war with the Soviet Union..................
That appears to be the sum total of his platform. He wouldn't even make a good used car salesman.
The right claims we can't save medicare without Romney making massive cuts then claim his plan doesn't cut anything, medicare under Romneys plan will leave the option to stay in medicare unchanged. Huh?
PRESIDENT OBAMA IS NOBODY'S "BOY". Why don't you drop the racists slurs and discuss the issues as a decent person? Is that too much to ask, or you insist in showing THE REAL REASON WHY MANY OF YOU DO NOT LIKE PRESIDENT OBAMA?
Some of you do not mind calling the Repubs vulgar names. Here is the point. I voted for Obama because I bought the hope and change, he never lived up to that so I need to move on. It is NOT racist.
I
still remember seeing the idiots cheering down Health care reform with signs
"Keep your hands off my Medicare". Well Republicans have yet again
shown there rear-ends to the American public and what they think about us by
just going with a Plan to do what the people thought Democrats were going to
with the passage of Health care. What I can tell you is republicans care
nothing for any American making less then 1 million a year and the more you
make the more they care about you because they want your donations to stay in
power and that's all that matters to them bedsides giving every scrap they can
scrap from the middle class and poor and Hand deliver it to the Rich.
Where
are all those same crazy people in those crowds caring those signs about
Keeping there hands off my Medicare now? Guess they cashed there Koch checks
and are living high on the hog. If we don't make Republicans pay by voting them
out and the Tea party out we are Doomed to watch all we worked for bleed for
and paid be tricked out from underneath us. We need to Recall Republicans with
Democrat's and Independents and raise Taxes on the Rich for the first time
since 2001 When We had a Huge Surplus from the Clinton years and use the
revenue from the extra income directly to pay off the National Debt while also
making sensible reductions in Spending to encourage the economy to keep
producing jobs. As the National debt falls the Businesses and Banks can lend
money more freely like back in Clinton's time in office and we will have Jobs
all over again.
We
have Tried the Republican/Bush way with the same same rate and more cuts for
the rich the last 12 years and it doesn't Work never has. Trickle down is only
the person who makes the most taking a leak on those below. Recall the
Republicans Quit Blaming Middle Class and poor and replace those Republicans
with Democrats and independents that will reduce the spending as the President
stated without killing us in the Middle and poorer classes.
Romney & Ryan American's aren't buying what you are selling!!!
When Rush Limbaugh told the law student Sandra FLuke a whore, Mitt Romney only said: "That was a poor choice of words" and nothing else.
The man CAN'T TAKE A STAND ON ANYTHING. We can't talk about Bain Capital, we can't talk about his dumb church, we can't talk about his taxes. SO, the ONLY CONVERSATION THAT HE WANTS TO HAVE IS THE SOUND OF HIS VOICE TELLING WHATEVER THE AUDIENCE WANTS TO HEAR AT THE TIME THAT HE IS SPEAKING.
The etch a sketch conservative has said "I like to fire people" he insulted the Britts, etc. He attacks in a poisonous way President Obama, he wants to cut the school budget, and wants to turn Social Security into a BUSINESS.
THE GUY stinks.
wrong airhead. the numbers are proving that false statement. here is how it is going down Obama won the 08 election with 2mil votes, That saying, romney needs 1mil. Think he can nget them Yes. Fl, Ohio Va are in his column. All he needs is one to put him over. Wis. Mi. Min, Co. and PA. if the mainstream media doesn't say that obama won PA in an hour of their projection. It will be a reagan 1980 victory, Can obama say Bye-bye Just de facts.
Republican placing there sacred Millionaire
cash cows top 3% over the needs of an entire nation. They want to only cut
Education, SS, Medicare, Medicaid, planned parenthood, Clean air/food. Then
they want no tax on that top 3 percent the millionaire that run them completely
like lap dogs. Remember the republicans who placed there needs over your entire
nation especially when voting time comes up. Vote for the party protecting
those programs you need and rely on - Democrats in 2012...
Want Ad: Looking for the perfect lie to sell American voters so me and my running mate, Paul Ryan can get elected.
Please send suggestions to MittWit, Zero Character Lane, State of Confusion.
Paul Ryan said that his mom "relays"on Medicare. And that he will "protect" it. FOOL me once, shame on you, FOOL ME TWICE SHAME ON ME!!!
Most of those seniors that are cheering for him are going to find that the sh**t is going to hit them in the face.
Those old farts that will vote against Obama, can just say NO to those checks that they are receiving or the medical help that they are receiving, and start paying for their own care. HYPOCRITES! I HOPE THAT ONCE THEY GET THEIR VOTE THEY LAND IN THE HOSPITAL WITH THOSE SORRY A*** VOUCHERS!
IRESPOND-2315268- 17.1- "his mom 'relays' on Medicare"
Two questions I would like her to answer;
1-How much does she relay on Medicare?
2-What percentage of her "household" income is Social Security?
I hope some of these seniors have actually read Ryan's plan.
Probably not the seniors who live in "The Villages." There estimated individual wealth is over a million dollars on average. They can afford whatever comes their way. They would vote (R) regardless of who is running or what is being advocated by the GOP ticket. This time they will even vote for a couple of pathological liars but hey, that's okay because they are Republican. They may be confirmed liars, but they are OUR liars.
Good point, Jim. I'd like Ryan to take his show into the nursing home where my mother resides. No rich seniors there.
Why are so many of you hateful to anyone who ha managed to accumulate some bucks? You all act like hard work had nothing to do with it.
Maybe we see people trying to take out bucks for them selves when they have so many greedy. Does 2 men who's current tax rates are 14% and 15% really need a tax break?
No and in the 60 minutes interview neither Romney nor Ryan suggested such. I vote for a sort of flat tax, dump most deductions, especially the really crazy ones focused on particular industries, credits which are absurd. Even though I take the mortgage deduction, I bet renters think that should not be.
Nobody is jealous. We don't want to be told that someone like Mitt ROmney worked hsi "butt" off to make his money, and that he is qualified to be President, because he was able to swindle Americans from their money.
He DOES NOT HAVE A PRODUCT THAT HE SELLS. You can't help but wondering how he made ALL THAT MONEY. Also, we don't want to CONTRIBUTE ANY MORE TO HIS WEALTH AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR HEALTH.
I understand venture capitalism so I understand how he made his money. Apparently you do not.
Romneyhood made his money by stripping solvent companies of their cash and saddling them with debt.
At GSS he cleaned out their pension fund to the tune of $44 Million dollars knowing that it was federally insured. That means that you got to pay that $44 million back out of your taxes. how does it feel to take it in the short and curlies lulu?
Now with GSS gone that city and county in North Carolina can't afford to dredge their harbor, meaning even more jobs are going down.
This is what we mean when we talk about tinkle upon economics.
You've seen Romneys tax returns for past years? That's the only way you'd know how he made his money. If you understand venture capitalism maybe you'd like to explain why the special 15% rate for carried interest they and hedge funds enjoy deserve it? After all 31% of Romneys income was taxed as carried interest.
Some companies can not be saved.
They acquired KB toys putting up 18 million of their own money and bringing in investors for the rest. They then borrowed 65 million on KB's assets paying it all as a special dividend only to the Bain partners including Romney. After waiting the required minimum wait time so a bankruptcy judge couldn't claw back the dividend money they declared bankruptcy citing excessive debt as the cause. 3700+ employees lost their jobs and benefits as well as suppliers who sold on credit. The Bain partners profited 47 million. Isn't capitalism great? They never bought it to save it.
You have these two statements. If you are so "wise" tell me how Mitt Romney NEVER LOST MONEY. THE "companies that can't be saved" had people on them. Of course, they could be saved, but Mitt Ronmney made sure that tey were not.
You have the mentality of Wall Street, and YOU ARE PART OF THE REASON WHY WE ARE IN THIS MESS. STOP THINKING ABOUT YOUR "EARNINGS", YOUR CONDO AND YOUR PORTFOLIO, AND REALIZE THAT OTHER PEOPLE ALSO NEED TO SURVIVE.
Maybe if you were smart and worked for your money, got an education instead of going to the beach, you would have an investment portfolio. But you did not. I started with zip, worked my way thru college, grad school as did my husband. Now that we have something, you want it. Go pay for your own stuff and stop coveting my stuff. We are in a mess for many reasons. And that includes those who refuse to accept responsibility for their own lives. If you did that, we could help those who really need our help. Stop making excuses for your life.
I am the reason we are in such a mess ? I I have worked my ass off. paid lots of taxes. Received little in return. You would survive better if you had gotten off your lazy ass and gone to school, get a trade, whatever. Instead you make excuses and want my money which I have saved over 40 years. I have paid lots of tax, SS and Medicare at the highest levels. You?
Irespond..... You are naive to think every company can be saved. Some products just run their course. Look at RIM. Their handsets are probably not going to help the company survive. If they work on management software, maybe. Textile industry? Not if Americans want cheaper clothes. Try to understand anything about business.
Lulu is 100% correct and I identify with her post 18.13. Don't venture capital companies and hedge funds routinely wind down companies as Larry describes for KB toys above? If Bain hadn't done it wouldn't someone else?? Perhaps even a foreign investor. Things eventually run their course for many companies, like a dying sun or star, is there some "correct" textbook way to wind them down??
Would it warm Larry's rock-hard heart if Romney pledged his (probably smallish) piece of that money back to the U.S. . . In further Investment in industry or work programs?? Probably not.
At least we see Romney is competent in the U.S. market system. I cant see Biden/Obama even being successful outside of their political lives.
I would LOVE to see Romney make a Warren Buffet style gesture (although Buffet NEVER Returned any of the Taxes he says he has Underpaid, just TALK) and state that he will Invest all those proceeds in some American job-creating company. . . Maybe he already has. Unfortunately, Obama's smear campaign of Romney is so thorough that most angry Americans probably wouldn't listen anyway.
It is a patriotic gesture of Romney to agree to run for POTUS against Biden/Obama. If I were Romney I certainly wouldn't have agreed to enter that cesspool.
Changing medicare is a disaster waiting to happen millions of people will not be able to afford 6,400 dollars extra per year. Human nature will not change the cost will be passed on to others if they do the Ryan plan.
Medicare is the best way to go; don`t destroy it fix it; it works well no one wants to haggle with insurance companies when they retire! MILLIONS CAN NOT AFORD A 500.00 DOLLAR DOWN PAYMENT ON A HOUSE; HOW WILL THEY COME UP WITH 6,400.00 DOLLARS?
And yet another uninformed moron. They will not pay $6400. Read the plan instead of hasing out the parrot MSNBC talking points which are wrong.
IndependantinCali is an "uninformed moron" who needs a dose of their own medicine.
You can't fool us. We know that Romney and Ryan are liars and cheats and their ideas s u c k.
MSNBC is history. This is NBCNEWS - try to keep up.
If you are surprised to learn that the home of the Whopper would find itself the subject of complex financial machinations, you shouldn’t be. Burger King has long been an enrichment scheme for clever financiers, who have sucked hundreds of millions of dollars out of it over the years. Maybe it will be different this time. Or maybe not.
Financial engineering has been part of the Burger King story for so long that it’s hard to believe there is still anything worth plucking from its carcass. “It’s been run as a cash cow for Wall Street,” said Bob Goldin, an executive vice president of Technomic, a food service consulting firm. Along the way it’s had 13 chief executives in 25 years, numerous strategy shifts and marketing campaigns — and has been constantly starved for cash. But, hey, the private equity guys got theirs. And isn’t that what really matters?
Enter — ta-da! — private equity. In 2002, Goldman Sachs, along with two private equity firms, TGP and ... hmmm ... Bain Capital, teamed up to buy Burger King. This is exactly the kind of situation private equity firms like to trumpet: taking over a downtrodden company and nursing it back to health. And to get them their due, Burger King’s new owners did some good, stabilizing both the company and the franchisees, many of whom were in worse shape than Burger King itself.
But the private equity investors also cut themselves an incredibly sweet deal. Their $1.5 billion purchase price included only $210 million of their own money; the rest was borrowed. They immediately began taking out tens of millions of dollars in fees. Four years later, they took Burger King public. But, first, they rewarded themselves with a $448 million dividend. In all, according to The Wall Street Journal, “the firms received $511 million in dividend, fees, expense reimbursements and interest” — while still retaining a 76 percent stake.
Does it need to be said that Burger King was soon back to its old struggling self? Or that the solution, once again, was to sell to another private equity firm? Of course not! In 2010, Bain, Goldman and TPG cashed out, selling Burger King to 3G Capital, for $3.3 billion
AND yet another RUDE REPUBLICAN THAT THINKS THAT faux news IS THE NEXT BEST THING.
WHY DON'T YOU read the New York Times or read other sources? Many articles out there. Not ony Seniors will pay the 6,500 IT WILL GO UP, BECAUSE THE INSURANCE COMPANIES WILL MAKE SURE THAT THEY RAKE THE PROFITS.
DON'T BE SO QUICK TO INSULT, WHEN YOU ARE THE ignorant one.
Shouting much?
Why is his Mom getting Medicare and Social Security, didn't she inherit a fortune, this is why the system is in trouble, because millionaires and billionaires use it too?
Didn't you know she has to live off her social security like I do sonny boy is a wealthy selfish teapartier and won't give her a dime.
She paid into the system. She should get her benefits. Since when have we become a country where some should be the ones to pay and others think they deserve every one else's money?
Tell that to Romneyhood.
Lulu -- "she paid into the system. She should get her benefits."
Wow! finally something we agree on! I'm 51 and I've been working and paying into the system all my life! So, you agree, I should get my benefits!
I am 64 and yes I want my benefits and I do not want this means testing crap,
I'm nearing retirement age and I also have paid into ss and medicare all my working life. Since people don't want to pay more taxes, I am fine with the idea of means testing and increasing the full retirement age to preserve both for my children and grandchildren. They are not the ones bankrupting these programs, we and our parents are. If voters in this country decide that the only acceptable way to reduce deficits and fund the government is by reducing government, then yes, social security and medicare should be part of that equation. Cutting government means cutting at everything, not just the stuff that is only important to someone else. If we want to preserve these things at anything like their current levles, then we need to accept that taxes must be returned to 1990's levels. (And we can't afford another war so we need to tell Israel that if it decides to bomb Iran, it is on its own.)
I do not however, believe these programs should be privatized or made into defined contribution plans
Obama 2012!!!
Better get use to Romney and Ryan……..they will be the President and Vice President soon! Let the name calling begin, I kind of like it when the Obama and Biden folks get afraid and can do nothing else but resort to name calling. I am ready, bring it on! LOL
Won't happen, put the crack pipe down!
This works only if you think America is that dumb !!
LOL!
Obama/Biden 2012!
Is that what Faux Noize, Beckerhead, Fatbo, Boortz and Lush is saying now??
I believe that Romney is the next president because the big corporations has invested so much money in his winning that it has already been bought for him. His tax 13>95 Minus Ryans 10% decrease in capital gains will be a whopping big3.9% help the poor guy out and vote for him he needs it.
I've worked all my life and never received welfare, food stamps or even unemployment yet these 2 twits tell me somehow both medicare and social security are stealing their money and they have to fix them. Sorry but both programs are paid with seperate taxes with 99% paid for by the 99% they only pay in for their own benefits. They need to leave top tax rates alone to pay for their wars and leave programs we've paid for for decades alone.
MarkMo: Yeah me too.
Maria - I'm not as confident as you are. I think it is entirely possible that Americans are that dumb.
Do ya wanna know why Gas Prices are So High.
Republicans” and their Stepchild “The Evil Violent Tea Billy’s” are just like a “Huge Power Outage ”. They are a Major Disaster, Cause Fear, Panic, Chaos, Misery and Destroy anything good in their Paths.
G. O. P. = GREED, OIL, POWER
Remember Folks, “Oil Prices" are about Corruption and Greed, not Supply and Demand.
This is from a Great Article I found Online:
A Senator goes whoring
It happened on the night of December 15, 2000. The country was in tumult over the Bush-Gore election. This diversion offered Republican Senator Phil Gramm of Texas an exquisite opportunity to push American financial stability back 100 years.
That evening, Gramm inserted a 262-page amendment into the Commodity Futures Modernization Act. Leaked e-mails would later reveal that it had been written by lobbyists for Enron, Goldman Sachs and the Koch brothers, Kansas billionaires who would later fund the Tea Party movement.
Gramm had turned his office into a subsidiary of Wall Street. From 1997 to 2002, the securities and banking industries had lathered him with $640,000 in campaign contributions. His biggest sugar daddies weren't from Texas; they were Credit Suisse,Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and Goldman. And he was more than willing to step-and-fetch-it on their behalf.
Big oil, big banks and big speculators such as the Kochs wanted to make monster bets in the futures markets. But they wanted to do it in secrecy — without any government regulation.
If you want to know the Truth follow the “Money Trail”. It will usually lead to the Lobbyist, Special Interest and the Self Righteous!
Same ole blather you've been spewing for days now. What's missing? Just da facts. How about to all these statements ............what's that.......just as I thought. Any monkey can tap on keys and blather all day.
Is that what Faux Noize told you???
Look's like Ryan's mother has as big a mouth as he does!
What do you suppose Hitler's mother would have said if she'd been asked about his performance up to the end of WWII?
Too bad President Obama's mother isn't still alive. She would be proud of her son.
Disgusting.
This is too funny, best laugh of the day !! Ryan brings his mother who owns a home in Wisconsin and has a condo by the sea in Lauderdale-Priceless !! Yeah, she stands for the average senior-HaHaHaHaHa !! She will never have to worry about her Medicare, her son sees to that.
Yep, Paul Ryan's mom and Princess Ann Romney have a lot in common.
Let's see Ryan's mother's tax forms for the last 5 yrs..........maybe she is hiding his money for him???
They are both ugly women?
@Carolyn. You stoop too low. Look in the mirror, maybe you won't like your image.
You need to visit Florida in the winter. Lots of snowbirds. Stop denigrating successful people. Try working harder, get an education, trade. You can be successful too.
Hey lulu...it's no longer about working harder and getting an education! Working harder is just that...you'll get nothing in return from most companies! Education is becoming an out-of-reach issue for the working class, college tuition is becoming obscene along with college loans and the debt college graduates are left with in a GOP induced economy that offers them no prospects. No...no...it's not how hard you work or how much you know! It's how much you can steal and who you know!
No.no.no. I started with nothing. Worked my way thru college and grad school. My husband did the same and has a doctorate. We are both engineers. We are comfortable. Worked my way up to VP. My husband is Seneior Director and also teaches university. So no, I do not agree.
Ryans Mom will have it, but the hell with the rest of you good for nothing profitless poor people. Spend more on the military, spend more on tax cuts for the wealthy, spend more on legislation that controls women, yahoo, republican forever! (sarcasm intended)
The Republican party is something to be afraid of. They are becoming more extreme every day. Its hard not to compare their fanatical devotion to big business and the military with the concept of facism. Obama may not be perfect, but he does do those things that make it seem like he actually cares about doing the right thing for the American people.
Obama and his goofy VP 2012
Upwards mobility in America is far far below what it is in the civilized world. Now all hard work gets is:
Work your fingers to the bone and what do you get?
Bony fingers!
Bony fingers.
The difference between Paul Ryan's Mother and everyone else's Mother is, she will never have to worry about Social Security being her only source of income!! To make a voucher system out of Medicare and expect seniors that are only making $10-20,000 a year to cover the rest of the cost, when healthcare has still not been stabilized, is immoral!! HIS Mother will never have to worry about nursing home costs, medical costs, food or rent! His plan will not hurt the richest among the seniors BUT most seniors are not rich!! Anyone who can vote for Romney/Ryan just amazes me!
it is not as if Ryan's mom really needs medicare--these folks are millionaires! but like all good wealthy Republicans, they trash SS and Medicare, but when the time comes they don't hesitate to use these "socialist" services. such hypocrites!
Lulu - try starting out today. I think you will find it a very different landscape of debt and opportunity. I did the same things you did. My kids and grandchildren face much tougher circumstances.
Lulu, congratulations and well done! If you want to go to college, you can, period. I went for two years and ran out of money. I considered my options and decided the best route for me was to serve in the military and earn money to finish my education. Was it easy, no, but in the end I retired with 20 + years serving my country and a Masters degree. This option is still available for most anyone who truly wants to get an education.
