LAS VEGAS -- Congressman Paul Ryan met with casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and several others Tuesday night to discuss how to raise money while hundreds protested the GOP ticket outside.
A handful of attendees of tonight's "finance meeting" -- all of whom walked out of the elevators with white folders -- confirmed to reporters inside The Venetian Las Vegas Casino, Hotel and Resort that the newly selected vice presidential nominee spoke in the Paiza Club at the casino owned by Sheldon.
NBC's Michael Isikoff reports on Republican VP pick Paul Ryan's meeting last night in Las Vegas with some big-dollar GOP donors, including casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson, for a private talk about the campaign.
One male attendee said the remarks by the Wisconsin Congressman were "wonderful" and noted Ryan didn't say anything unusual.
A few hundred protesters gathered outside the popular Vegas hotel, carrying signs and chanting. Many in the group appeared to be union workers.
Adelson has been a big contributor to Mitt Romney and the Republican Party this year and has promised to spend $100 million to defeat President Barack Obama this fall.

The Romney campaign would not confirm details of tonight's event other than telling reporters it was not a fundraiser as no one paid money to attend. Several dozen names appeared to be on the list at the security stand for people who would be attending.
Earlier Tuesday, a Romney spokesman tweeted that in the last 72 hours, the campaign has raised $7.4 million online with over 101,000 donations.
Congressman Ryan is scheduled to attend at least three more fundraisers before the weekend, which he is slated to spend in Ohio and Virginia.

Repubs will buy this election any way they can; bet they would even take children's lunch money. I just hope the Dems are going to have someone monitoring at each and every voting location on election day. In one local election, boxes of uncounted votes were found hidden sometime after the election, and didn't get counted. And God help us if the Supreme Court steps in and picks a president!

iray, if you'll notice the Indian Casinos are not run by one tribe, adelson's company is being investigated for money laundering, google it. Dirty angry money, Chris Mathews. Republicans can't win the election unless they try and buy it.

Yep Koch dealing with Iran, Adelson with China, Trump with anyone who willt ake him seriously. Just some good ole boys making sure they can buy the White House they havent been able to own in four years. They got used to the control Bush/Cheney gave them.
Apparent who will have influence and power over Mitt/Ryan if they win in Nov. 6 or 7 rich old men will be calling the shots in Washington for the next 4 years and certainly will be looking to be reimbursed their investment in spades.
Who owns romney, and what will he give in return for super pac support? Think w's reign was bad with the influence peddling, Abramoff, romney would be ten times worse.

Yes, I understand the requirements by law don't request more than a years taxes to be devulged, but why do people go through interviews? Duh to get the rest of the information, can you imagine telling your employer it's non of his business when asks you to show him/her your credentials.

Maybe Ryan is promising Adelson that he will sponsor a bill in the House to rename a local Vegas post office in Sheldon's honor. He did this for a small PO in Wisconsin and this was the only bill he ever sponsored. After this, he was exhausted.

It's just so sad that my country has devolved into "show me the money" - I don't believe that's who we are. If voting weren't such a hard earned privilage that so many in other parts of the planet are fighting and dying for; I wouldn't bother.
I think this is a disgrace. We need campaign reform. No one shoud be able to donate 100 million to sway votes.

The fact is, it is legal to contribute millions to sway votes, and it is legal to keep money in off shore accounts. If you don't like the law, quit crying about it, get off your ass and do something about it.

There is a real "sleeze factor" that comes to play when the money of people like Sheldon Adelson and other Las Vegas gambling types comes into play in a Presidential Election Campaign.
All those on the Christian Right should voice their outrage that Vice-Presidential candidate Paul Ryan would stoop so low as to seek donations from any of those making their fortunes by emptying the pockets of ordinary Americans!
No one forces people to gamble. But the government does force people to pay taxes, emptying the pockets of ordinary Americans.

Wow!, there is a big difference between gambling and taxes. Taxes pay for schools, police and fire departments. Things that everyone likes to have around.
I have no problem funding schools, police and firemen, I do have a problem funding GSA Parties, Solyndra tax dollar give aways, bank bailouts stimulus money, auto company bail outs, cash for clunkers, printing more money, borrowing more money from the Chinese, federal government (taxpayer) guarantees on small business loans, student loans & housing loans, etc.
