LAS VEGAS -- Congressman Paul Ryan met with casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and several others Tuesday night to discuss how to raise money while hundreds protested the GOP ticket outside.
A handful of attendees of tonight's "finance meeting" -- all of whom walked out of the elevators with white folders -- confirmed to reporters inside The Venetian Las Vegas Casino, Hotel and Resort that the newly selected vice presidential nominee spoke in the Paiza Club at the casino owned by Sheldon.
NBC's Michael Isikoff reports on Republican VP pick Paul Ryan's meeting last night in Las Vegas with some big-dollar GOP donors, including casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson, for a private talk about the campaign.
One male attendee said the remarks by the Wisconsin Congressman were "wonderful" and noted Ryan didn't say anything unusual.
A few hundred protesters gathered outside the popular Vegas hotel, carrying signs and chanting. Many in the group appeared to be union workers.
Adelson has been a big contributor to Mitt Romney and the Republican Party this year and has promised to spend $100 million to defeat President Barack Obama this fall.
Mitt Romney's running mate, VP contender Paul Ryan, has a voting record that – at times – conflicts with his political identity as a fiscal conservative. NBC's Kelly O'Donnell reports.
The Romney campaign would not confirm details of tonight's event other than telling reporters it was not a fundraiser as no one paid money to attend. Several dozen names appeared to be on the list at the security stand for people who would be attending.
Earlier Tuesday, a Romney spokesman tweeted that in the last 72 hours, the campaign has raised $7.4 million online with over 101,000 donations.
Congressman Ryan is scheduled to attend at least three more fundraisers before the weekend, which he is slated to spend in Ohio and Virginia.

Here are the results of the Job Creators efforts after over 10 years of the Bush Era Tac Breaks....Are they creating jobs? You tell me. Where is the money they have save over 10 years? Pay increases? No More jobs? No CEO and other executive bonuses? YES!
The Republicans refused to pass the tax cut extension, unless the Jobs Creators got their tax breaks extended. Let's give more to the wealthy or the middle class gets nothing.
In the week ending August 11, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 366,000, an increase of 2,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 364,000. The 4-week moving average was 363,750, a decrease of 5,500 from the previous week's revised average of 369,250.
Thank you Republicans and Jobs Creators for your kindnesses and support for the 99% of Americans!
Obama meets with every LEFTIST on the planet & it's NO BIG DEAL for the liberals....
This guy needs to get the GOP elected so that they can get him out of the serious trouble hes in!!! Adelson has 2 #$%&# to screw!!!
This from a reader in Great Britain, copied verbatim:
(it does give an insight as to how the British see Mitt)
"Hi cousins..
We have plenty of right wing nutters in the Tory party in the UK..if you like we
can send some over to the States to join your home grown ones ???..Might even make Romney and company look sane ??? But then again, I doubt it..
The good old US of A is the home of the Tea Party..and my oh my ..they really are strange ones..almost as bad as the Birthers..come to think of it..you have enough home grown nutters..we wont bother sending you any ..you have enough of your own ..."
FISH IN THE WATER.........35 seconds........
Romney and Ryan need to disclose the following information if they expect Americans to vote for them.
-Tax Returns for the last ten years.
-Budget Plans
Being a presidential candidate is no different than applying for a job.
Since America is unified Boss, Recruiter or what ever we choose to call ourselves during this employment process in determining who is going to be president and vice president then as such America Romney and Ryans prospective employer we want both of their tax returns and budget plans before us in two weeks in order to make a determination on whether or not they OUR employment standards.
......25 seconds....
If both fail to produce the required documents in two weeks then WE the American Boss will move onto someone else who meets our standards.
.... 10 seconds....
After all don't employment recruiters require various information that we as the applicant need to produce before being considered for the position?
Romney and Ryan expect us the unified American Boss to hire them and after they have been elected to show us what they plan on bringing to the company.
The last time I checked you show the recruiter first what your capabilities are to get the job. You don't get the job and then show the employer what your capabilities are.
Romney and Ryan are working class just like we are and the application process is no different for them as it is for us.
Until both disclose their Tax Returns and Budget Plans
We need to put their employment dossier on the bottom of the stack.
.....5 seconds.....
As one Boss America.
As one Boss to show them that we are the employer and they are the applicant.
Today Obama has a lunch meeting too, but this meeting happens to be with Biden, to try to get him to read tele-prompters. When Biden actually gets off message an speaks what is actually going on in his head, Obama goes nuts-up. "Back in Chains" "We're in the 20th Century" etc....
We are in the 21st Century. That is probably why Medvedev got so upset over Mittens calling Russia "The Soviet Union"
Read the article above from the guy in Britain....Mitt the Twit is a BIG hit there...and in the Arab States, Japan, Australia, and many more.
But, he does have a prancing pony, so he is not all bad.
Wonder what Ayn Rand has to say about gambling money? Eh Ryan??
Casino mogul, huh? That Paul Ryan, he's some kind of "family values" guy!
CAIN / FOLEY....For REAL Republican Family Values
And this is interesting.....does Mitt aspire to being President of his own universe one day?
DO MORMONS BELIEVE THEY GET THEIR OWN PLANET AFTER THEY DIE?
Reviewed by: Joshua Steimle on September 17th, 2008 Categories: Mormon Beliefs Comments: 502
This question was put to me by a friend of mine (no, not the one with all the anti-Mormon questions). The answer is a “not really…well, sort of, I guess…well, I guess I can see why people would say that” type of answer.
The quick answer is “No, we believe we get an entire universe” but even that would be misleading because the real answer is “We don’t know.” Allow me to explain, and prepare for your eyebrows to raise a little. Here it is in a nutshell.
Mormons believe that human beings are children of God, and as such, have within them the potential to become like God. Got it? Let me say it more clearly. We believe that we can become Gods. Trust me, if you think about it and read the Bible from this perspective a lot of things will start to make sense. Just read Romans 8 where Paul says that we’re children of God and that we’re joint-heirs of God with Jesus Christ. In other words Christ is our brother and together with him we’re all heirs to what God has. What does God have? The kind of life a God lives. Here’s shocker #2–we believe God used to be a man, just like us.
Now this brings up all sorts of logical and reasonable questions like “When did Gods begin then?” and “Is God the God of the entire universe or just part of it or are there other universes?” and “So there are other Gods then?” and the answer to all of these and many other questions is “We don’t know.” All we worry about is one God.
But one of the questions that arises is “So what is God all about, and if we’re going to be like him then what do we go about doing after we die?” and the logical answer would be that if we become like God then we would create other planets like this one and populate them with our children, just like God has done with this one. And I’m guessing that’s where people would come up with the idea that Mormons believe they get a planet when they die. But as for me, I’m holding out for my own universe, although I’m sure it requires a bit of after-death training to run one.
Mitt wants to be president so he can get in a bit of practice in before "RULING OVER" his planet. Did I say, "RULING OVER"...
Ryan, used to be an atheis, now what the heck is he, a nazi yea thats what he is.
His idol Ayn Rand thinks religion is a joke. She was a hard core atheist. Religion's only value to her was to control the masses.
Romney-Ryan = Not the Solution
They are the Poster Boys for the Problem.
Listen to a Republican politicians promises during an election. Then go back and research his record. You'll find more hipocrasy than honesty every time.........
Mitt finally explained his $100,000,000 401K account!
He was questioned by a reporter as to how he had 100 million dollars in an account that, by law, you can only deposit a maximum of $30,000 a year.
Mitt said: It was easy, I deposited $30,000 a year for 3000 years!
Glad he cleared that up....make me trust him so much more.....NOT!

Bush inherited a strong economy, a budget surplus, and a nation at peace, from President Clinton.
Eight years later, Bush left a shattered economy, a trillion dollar deficit, and two useless wars, auto industry on verge of collapse, housing industry collapsed. Had job losses averaging 650,000 a month.
Obama saved the country from another Great Depression, rebuilt GM, reformed healthcare, reformed Wall Street, doubled the stock market, created 12 straight quarters of GDP growth, created 29 straight months of private sector job growth, got Bin Laden, got Gaddafi, and got us out of Iraq.
And now with the automatic spending cuts and the expiration of the Bush tax cuts in 2012, Obama has solved the deficit problem as well. The wealthy will need to look elsewhere for their annual bonuses.
Obama has done a very good job, and will keep doing it through 2016, when Hillary will be elected the 45th President.
Hey, everybody,
I have Rick 312779 and his lies and tripe on IGNORE, but it does show he posted something, just not what he posted. It is most likely some more of his right wing garbage.
If you put him on IGNORE, as several of us have, it will speed up the internet, make your computer run faster, and brighten your screen.
I cannot resist: "Who's yer daddy, Ricky?"
From USAToday:
While being vetted by Mitt Romney's campaign, GOP vice presidential hopeful Rep. Paul Ryan amended two years of his financial disclosure statements to add an income-producing trust worth between $1 million and $5 million that he had previously neglected to report.
Ryan is arrogrant and full of himself, he wants to be President and not Vice-President. He has not a clue and is overshadowing Romney. Romney has no confidence and is very insecure and cannot deliver himself.
OBAMA / BIDEN 2012
From USAToday:
Mitt Romney told reporters today that he's paid an income tax rate of at least 13% for each of the last 10 years, providing more detail than ever on his recent payments.
Of course, being that Romney said that, makes it true. After all, his past history shows that once he takes a stand, he does not change his position......huh? Did I really write that?
King Flip Flop has a lot to prove...he can start with proving his integrity and honesty....yeah, right!
Mitt Romney is trying to seize the high ground in the Medicare debate by pledging to "restore" $716 billion in spending cuts imposed by President Obama.
Nevermind that the cuts were once backed by his vice presidential running mate Paul Ryan. Romney argues that it's Obama who has already "ended Medicare as we know it" and he will be the guy to fix it.
"The president has taken action in Medicare which significantly impacts the kind of health care opportunities and benefits that will be provided to current seniors," Romney said today at an impromptu news conference in South Carolina. "Our plan [has] no change for current seniors and those 55 and older."
In staking out that position - calling for a reversal of the cuts, now directed to help pay for Obamacare - Romney is, however, making something of a gamble.
First, Romney appears willing to restore more favorable conditions for "waste, fraud and abuse" - at least in the short term.
Repealing the entirety of the ACA would mean the elimination of new protections already recouping record-high sums of wasted Medicare cash.
Of the estimated $70 billion of Medicare waste in 2010, for example, regulators have recovered an unprecedented $4 billion thanks to the new measures, according to the nonpartisan Center for Medicare Advocacy.
A Romney campaign official explains that the former governor would address the issue of "waste, fraud and abuse" separately, but did not offer specific details. (which seems to be the standard Romney reply...we will get back to you on that.)
Just another decrepid old geezer and tight-wad who thinks he's living in the 19th century and wants to hang onto all of his money. Well gramps, Mitt and his dim witted friend will keep you company as long as you give them some.
Ryan is being well taught by Mitt. Notice how many times he either moves away from the question, or stalls by repeating the question, and after all is said and done, has avoided it entirely.
Washington (CNN) -- When Paul Ryan struggled to explain a budget-balancing timeline under Mitt Romney, he highlighted the difficulty of trying to run a substantive campaign without being too specific.
While Ryan's interview Tuesday with Fox News' Brit Hume was no Sarah Palin-Katie Couric moment, the Republican vice presidential candidate's discomfort in answering when Romney's proposal would balance the budget was evident.
Ryan, a seven-term congressman from Wisconsin and chairman of the House Budget Committee, said he was unsure when Romney's proposals would balance the federal budget. Romney's plans say he would "put the federal government on a course toward a balanced budget" but does not say when.
Hume repeatedly pressed Ryan on the question of "when" Romney's budget would balance.
Hume: "The budget plan you're now supporting would get to balance when?"
Ryan: "Well, there are different -- the budget plan that Mitt Romney is supporting gets us down to 20% of GDP (gross domestic product) government spending by 2016. That means get the size of government back to where it historically has been. What President Obama has done is he brought the size of government to as high as it hasn't been since World War II. We want to reduce the size of government to have more economic freedom."
Hume: "I get that. What about balance?"
Ryan: "I don't know exactly what the balance is. I don't want to get wonky on you, but we haven't run the numbers on that specific plan. The plan we offer in the House balances the budget. I'd put a contrast. President Obama, never once, ever, has offered a plan to ever balance the budget. The United States Senate, they haven't even balanced, they haven't passed a budget in three years."
Hume: "I understand that. But your own budget, that you --
Ryan: "You are talking about the House budget?"
Hume: "I'm talking about the House budget. Your budget will be a political issue in this campaign."
Ryan: "The House budget doesn't balance until the 2030s under the current measurement of the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) baseline."
Paul Ryan on Social Security as a Teenager?
Did you know that Paul Ryan received Social Security benefits after his 55-year-old father passed away from a heart attack?
Yes, it's true. At the age of 16, Ryan began receiving Social Security benefits and saved them to help him pay for college. He stopped receiving benefits when he was 18 years old.
Undernews reported this story a year ago, and stated:
Representative Paul Ryan is one example of the millions of people whose lives have depended on our social contract with the American people. Without this benefit, his mother would have had to make even tougher decisions and Representative Paul Ryan may not have been able to pay for his college education. This social contract lifted him and his entire family out of a tough situation.
Many people do not know that 30 percent of the social security fund goes directly to widows, orphans and the disabled. It is not solely for the benefit of retirees. Unfortunately this social contract is under a regressive attack by the Republicans, including Paul Ryan.
