LAS VEGAS -- Congressman Paul Ryan met with casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and several others Tuesday night to discuss how to raise money while hundreds protested the GOP ticket outside.
A handful of attendees of tonight's "finance meeting" -- all of whom walked out of the elevators with white folders -- confirmed to reporters inside The Venetian Las Vegas Casino, Hotel and Resort that the newly selected vice presidential nominee spoke in the Paiza Club at the casino owned by Sheldon.
NBC's Michael Isikoff reports on Republican VP pick Paul Ryan's meeting last night in Las Vegas with some big-dollar GOP donors, including casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson, for a private talk about the campaign.
One male attendee said the remarks by the Wisconsin Congressman were "wonderful" and noted Ryan didn't say anything unusual.
A few hundred protesters gathered outside the popular Vegas hotel, carrying signs and chanting. Many in the group appeared to be union workers.
Adelson has been a big contributor to Mitt Romney and the Republican Party this year and has promised to spend $100 million to defeat President Barack Obama this fall.

The Romney campaign would not confirm details of tonight's event other than telling reporters it was not a fundraiser as no one paid money to attend. Several dozen names appeared to be on the list at the security stand for people who would be attending.
Earlier Tuesday, a Romney spokesman tweeted that in the last 72 hours, the campaign has raised $7.4 million online with over 101,000 donations.
Congressman Ryan is scheduled to attend at least three more fundraisers before the weekend, which he is slated to spend in Ohio and Virginia.

Bruce, This is August 2012 what is George saying now? Political winds change almost by the day as election draws near. Maybe you should look at why you would vote for Obama over Romney using valid issues, not twisted words from either candidate. If you choose Obama in the process, then by all means vote for him. Looking at the state of the economy I think Obama has failed and it is time for someone else to take a shot at fixing it. His excuse is that it is Bush's fault and the republican party. I say it is his failed leadership any way you look at it.

Adelson is the biggest maggot on this earth. His Casino ventures are full of criminal activities. With his vast riches he is able to hide and distance himself from these criminal activities. His Macao Casinos are brothels for China's and South East Asia's poor women. Now he is trying to buy the election so that he can call all the favors he needs direct from a maybe President and Vice President. So how can the GOP claim the economy is so bad when they have the likes of the Adelsons, Kochs and Roves spending so much money to defeat our President? The only answer I can come up with is that the GOP has intentionally done all they could to tank the economy to make it that much easier to run RobME. You know, the one who doesn't have an original thought and was picked just so he would do as they say. You can't spend that much money without expecting something in return. Now that Ryan has been put on the ticket, RobME can't even answer what his budget is or will be. We have to wait until "the light of the day" AFTER THE ELECTION IS OVER. NO PLAN = NO VOTE. al151998, The economy is doing better than it was when President Obama took over. Thirty something months of job growth, the stock market has rebounded to higher than it was before it crashed so not in good shape but definitely better shape.
If the republicans would have actually done their jobs rather than try to defeat the president at every turn, maybe it would be in better shape. Their policies are what got us into this mess and all they push is for austerity measures (except for the defense budget and other pet projects of theirs - you know like wasting time and money to vote 33 times to repeal ACA). Austerity measures is what Europe tried and they are in a double dip recession.

It doesn't take money to get masses of people to the voting booth. If people want to save their country from becoming a modern day feudal system, they had best put their voices and opinions into action and vote. Knowing the GOP's intention to suppress voting in as many states as possible, it is absolutely necessary to flood the polls in opposition. Encourage registration, encourage turnout, and assist getting people to the polls if necessary. Its a one-day sacrifice every American can make in defense of our country and its overall society.
