LAS VEGAS -- Congressman Paul Ryan met with casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and several others Tuesday night to discuss how to raise money while hundreds protested the GOP ticket outside.
A handful of attendees of tonight's "finance meeting" -- all of whom walked out of the elevators with white folders -- confirmed to reporters inside The Venetian Las Vegas Casino, Hotel and Resort that the newly selected vice presidential nominee spoke in the Paiza Club at the casino owned by Sheldon.
NBC's Michael Isikoff reports on Republican VP pick Paul Ryan's meeting last night in Las Vegas with some big-dollar GOP donors, including casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson, for a private talk about the campaign.
One male attendee said the remarks by the Wisconsin Congressman were "wonderful" and noted Ryan didn't say anything unusual.
A few hundred protesters gathered outside the popular Vegas hotel, carrying signs and chanting. Many in the group appeared to be union workers.
Adelson has been a big contributor to Mitt Romney and the Republican Party this year and has promised to spend $100 million to defeat President Barack Obama this fall.

The Romney campaign would not confirm details of tonight's event other than telling reporters it was not a fundraiser as no one paid money to attend. Several dozen names appeared to be on the list at the security stand for people who would be attending.
Earlier Tuesday, a Romney spokesman tweeted that in the last 72 hours, the campaign has raised $7.4 million online with over 101,000 donations.
Congressman Ryan is scheduled to attend at least three more fundraisers before the weekend, which he is slated to spend in Ohio and Virginia.

On another note, has anyr republicans proven that their Bush tax cuts that helped mainly the rich and hurt our Treasury tax revenue ever created a lot of Amreican jobs? Any big corporation say "that big tax cut made it possible to build big faclities for new American jobs we created thanks to the Bush and repubs trickle down tax cutting"? Where is their proof? My guess is we could prove they took their $trillions in rich folks tax cuts over last 11 years and created more jobs for foreign countries by building their facilities over there where wages are low, no benefits no safet regs no env regs exist. They know how to make money for themselves, but they don't know nor care how to make money for all Americans any more like Ford, Carnegie, Getty, Hughes, Kaiser, Bell, Edison, and the rest of the patriotic past industrialists did....they are global patriots serving only themselvs and not American Patriots any more, at least those behind the GOP not Buffet not Gates and a few others.

Romney/Ryan are planning to END Social Security and Medicare. First they will privatize it. They will purport that its better this way. Nice comeback with some facts. In order to raise 100 Million dollars in July at $53.49 per pop, 1,869,508 individuals would have to contribute. There were probably 50 total donors.

Seems rather hypocritical to take his huge conservative tea bag donations from someone who earned his money from gambling proceeds.
Yet to him, it's morally okay to deny a woman's right to choose, gut Social Security and Medicare, and discriminate against all people who appear to come from Hispanic descent just because he thinks they may be an illegal alien, even if they're the validitorian of their class in high school or college. On the other hand, in his mind, the best way to improve the economic situation in the US is to put us right back into the position that got us here in the first place with his Republican predecessors. Remove restrictions and fail safes from the lending institutions, and continue to tax the middle class at a much higher rate than the wealthy and corporations. Their theory on how this will bring glory and jobs back to America? The wealthiest Americans and corporations take the money THEY save on THEIR tax breaks and use the extra cash to "invest" back into American businesses so that they will prosper and hire more workers.
Well, the problem with this theory is these people and corporations getting the tax breaks AREN'T reinvesting their added/saved wealth BACK into America, but pocketing the cash as added personnel wealth, extra profits towards the bottom line, or expanding overseas and OUTSOURCING jobs where labor is less expensive, so they can, once again, maximize their profits.
They also have the audacity to claim that if THEY get the tax breaks, it's MORE beneficial to America than if the middle class does. I suggest that since the lower and middle classes make up a vast majority of Americans, and they are the ones actually spending the money which drives the economy. If they have less to spend, then there is less need for products and services, and the economy slips. However, if they have more disposable income, then they feel more comfortable spending, which drives the need for more goods and services, and all is right with the world.
So by allowing you access to invest up to 40% of YOUR Social Security account in any stock or bonds or any way you see fit is wrong? I guess if you are a welfare clown who hasn't worked all your life and have no money in Social Sercurity, you would be against changing the program. They are not gutting SS, they are trying to save it libtard.

Neo-cons want to talk about ending welfare? First most states, have ended welfare as we used to know it. In Wisconsin Tommy Thompson ended it over 10 years ago and I know several states followed suit. If you have a problem with handouts, you can begin by looking in your mirrors and stop giving tax breaks to large corporations or free rides to companies like GE who don't pay a dime. Or stop with subsidies to large "corporate farms" who not only squeeze out the family farm but don't neccessarily need the money to survive or tax breaks to large defense contactors who support your neo-con agendas. There is a "welfare problem" out there, and it begins with the neo-con agenda. How there can be this many morons in the world who against their own best interests because the dream of being rich is beyond me.
Your choice - real hope and change with integrity and ethics and the truth even if it hurts. Leadership to cut the debt, bring jobs, get people off of welfare and back to work with a job and pride.
