Romney calls Obama presidency 'angry and desperate'

CHILLICOTHE, OH – Mitt Romney used the final rally on his five-state bus tour to paint President Obama as an "intellectually exhausted" leader, forced to resort to "angry and desperate" tactics in his battle for re-election.

"This is an election in which we should be talking about the path ahead, but you don't hear any answers coming from President Obama’s re-election campaign,” Romney said. “That’s because he's intellectually exhausted, out of ideas, and out of energy. And so his campaign has resorted to diversions and distractions, to demagoguing and defaming others. It’s an old game in politics; what’s different this year is that the president is taking things to a new low."

While stumping in Ohio, the Republican presidential candidate preached to a receptive audience. President Obama focused on energy issues as well, praising wind power while campaigning in Iowa. And VP contender Paul Ryan began polishing his stump speech, laced with attacks on Obama's leadership. NBC's Peter Alexander reports.

The speech, delivered before several thousand in the town square of Ohio's first capital city, was designed to contrast then-candidate Obama's soaring language of hope and change with the mud-slinging, increasingly nasty tone of this election’s TV ads and campaign trail rhetoric.

"This is what an angry and desperate presidency looks like," Romney said. "President Obama knows better, promised better and America deserves better."

"Over the last four years, this president has pushed Republicans and Democrats about as far apart as they can go,” Romney continued. “And now he and his allies are pushing us all even further apart by dividing us into groups. He demonizes some. He panders to others. His campaign strategy is to smash America apart and then try to cobble together 51 percent of the pieces."

Mitt Romney's running mate, VP contender Paul Ryan, has a voting record that – at times – conflicts with his political identity as a fiscal conservative. NBC's Kelly O'Donnell reports.

On a day that began with a battle over Medicare policy and that descended into a heated back-and-forth over charged comments made by Vice President Joe Biden in southern Virginia, Romney decried the negative tone of the campaign – even as he went on the attack.

Biden tells audience GOP banks would put them 'back in chains'

"Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago and let us get about rebuilding and reuniting America," Romney said.

The Obama campaign responded with a statement pointing out Romney's campaign, too, is engaged in negative attacks over the airwaves.

“Governor Romney's comments tonight seemed unhinged, and particularly strange coming at a time when he's pouring tens of millions of dollars into negative ads that are demonstrably false,” Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said.

It was & is the Rethugs who had more then two hands in sinking the US economy from their previous administrations & in cahoots with Wall Street. They legislated the trade laws along with the tax laws since 1990. I had more respect for the party before then, but now they should be banned from government. They turned on this country & used every trick to get quick rich. They knew all along global trading wasn't going to be fair to the US worker & opted for cheap prices of foreign goods. People can't even afford cheap prices without a decent job or wage. I know Clinton had his fingers in it too, but he figured health care bill which didn't pan out. Rethug congress didn't give a @!$%#. Romney is the scared one not showing how his riches came about - selling America out. I hope the guy gets embarrassed once we all find out what he has to hide & he loses his pants off in the election. Not many trust the Rethugs, not even Hollywood. There is not one ounce of compassion for the millions of us that have to suck it up for the rich. Banks can't wait to screw more people around with Romney in.

Obama and his minions here are doing the same thing over and over again!

Bashing their enemies with lies and hate!

Where is the great new world pf getting along that Heir Dictator promised us back in '08????????????

Of course he was lying then and he is lying now! But of course using the same old horse hockey the democrites always use! Blaming the other side for doing what they are just about to do!

And the stupido Biden using his race baiting in front of a largely Afro-American group! When will they see that while the black, under 30 unemployment rate is the hightest percentage it's ever been, they are of no use to the democrites except for their counted on vote!

Maybe it's time to show these democrites that they can no longer count on their base, unless they really are shown that the democrites can come through on promisses to them!

The polls are changing, libs. And the electoral vote is swinging.

The Obungler and his used car salesman only opening their mouths to change feet, isn't helping either.

On the one hand we have two honest, decent, family men. On the other, we got....well...we got...we got Frick and Frack spewing venom.

Sadly, in the middle, we have drooling libs soaking up every drop of that hateful crap.

I smell worry in the libs...and we're still 2-1/2 months out.

Like the Las Vegas oddsmaker states...it's gonna be a landslide.

    Enjoy the next 8 years...losers!

You consider a draft-dodger a decent family man? Tell that to the families of the dead in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

While Mitts cowards sit at home, out boys are dying. And told try to soft-soap it, I lost 2 grandsons in Iraq. How many days total have Mitt and his 5 heros served?

By the way, you said "I smell worry in the libs...." You were only partially correct....the part where you said "I smell" was correct...except smell is spelled, in your case "stink"

Your claims are laughable....Explain to me this:

Why is it that when a Republican posts, it must contain name-calling, lies, racial slurs, filthy language, inuendo, religious slurs, or name-bastardization? And, don't forget to attack the wife and children. They just cannot seem to communicate on a level where these things are not required.

Obama's name is bastardized, as is Michelle's ... freely and often. But, if anyone DARES to mention Anne Romney, then they are being bigoted and nasty.

      Explain the Republican mindset, please.

"Social Security Administration To Purchase 174 Thousand Rounds Of Hollow Point Bullets

Preparing for civil unrest? Ammunition to be delivered to 41 locations across U.S.
      Paul Joseph Watson
      Infowars.com
      Wednesday, August 15, 2012"

First it was the Department of Homeland Security, then it was the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and now the Social Security Administration is set to purchase 174,000 rounds of hollow point bullets that will be delivered to 41 locations across the country.

IS AMERICA BECOMING A POLICE STATE UNDER OBAMA?

Americans reading the article cited by Joseph Watson need to quickly be asking questions. Why is the Departments of Homeland Security, the Weather service, and now the Social Security Administration ordering bullets for potential riot control? Is Obama running short on SSA funds? Why is this ammunition being distributed across the land known as the home of the free and the land of the brave? Will you and me have to watch our neighbors being eliminated one by one in the future? Why is this build up of hollow point bullets necessary. Are we preparing for invocation of martial law?

MR PRESIDENT A FULL EXPLANATION IS REQUIRED FROM YOU. LET'S HAVE THE TRUTH TODAY.

I'd be more interested Say What, if you could please explain the liberal mind set.

Having regard for Obungler's almost 4 year fiasco, his apologizing, bowing and scraping to Muslim leaders, whispering to Medvedev that he can kiss up to Vlad more if he just gets 4 more years, and best of all: "You didn't build that", this coming from a man who's never worked an honest day in his life. Unemployment out of sight, and the economy going over a cliff. More planned borrowing from China.

I could go on, but what the hell.

The President has been called every name in the book, Muslim, America hater, Racist. He has been accused of not even being born in the US. He has been blamed for Bush's failed economics and deficit/debt, yes I said Bush. He and his family has been compared to Chimpanzees in cartoons and even emails by GOP representatives and Governors. I have seen and heard him called "the black man", his presidency has been disrespected beyond the point of hate.

I did not vote for him but I am impressed with how he has seemingly taken all the BS in stride and respect he has not lost it, I mean He has been called everything accept a Human Being, I personally would have lost my cool a long time ago and blown up because of it all.

He will be getting my vote this time, he is the only one working for the middle class these days, the middle class drives the economy and Americas growth, not the rich, not the "Job Creators" that the GOP have made up out of thin air. You give the people wit the most wealth more wealth and they hang onto it, trickle down has never worked, even Reagan's economic adviser admitted it this past weekend in a TV interview. The economy only works when working class middle class people are out in force buying.

You might one day figure out that if you looked at what Obama has done (not his skin color) instead of listening to his purty words that he gave banks money, corporations money, helped Al-queda take control in Libya and soon Syria, aided the Muslim brotherhood in their take over of Egypt; said we'd follow Russia's lead, let the Chinese slap him around; increased the national debt at a rate of 2-5 times of any predecessor, created no jobs, used taxpayer money to buy votes, irreparably divided this country and violated his oath of office and the laws of America by refusing to enforce the laws and on and on. You won't though because that would take independent thinking and no one left of center has had that capability since big Government took over America in violation of the Constitution. In the next civil war we will be on opposite sides.

I am registered as a Republican, yet I voted for Obama. I did that when McCain foolishly added Palin to the ticket. Since that day nearly four years ago, I can't believe how much bigotry, intolerance, paranoia, hypocrisy, ignorance, and greed I have seen come from the Republican Party. The party has become a disgusting embarrassment to all Americans. Anyone that supports the Republican Party ought to be ashamed of themselves - for the too are nasty and ignorant people. Today I am going to figure out how to remove myself from the list of Republican Party voters.

To GCV, #583. Please don't be embarrassed; real Americans aren't. We've known their kind for a long, long time.

In some respects, real Americans should be fearful of the Republicans for their lack of spine and integrity, and their unwillingness to challenge haters in their midst as they (especially Mitt) show their support for them by stating "It's not my job to correct them." Not your job Mitt??? Whose job is it??? I thought you were supposed to be a Christian and a person of integrity (your words); man was I wrong. Not really though; I've never viewed you and your kind as anything other than not worthy of consideration or respect for your greed, your lies and your immoral/unethical approach to life and how you deal with those who aren't in the top 2%. You need to learn, because you won't be able to hide after you get trounced in Nov.

Mitt finally explained his $100,000,000 401K account!

He was questioned by a reporter as to how he had 100 million dollars in an account that, by law, you can only deposit a maximum of $30,000 a year.

Mitt said: It was easy, I deposited $30,000 a year for 3000 years!

Bush inherited a strong economy, a budget surplus, and a nation at peace, from President Clinton.

Eight years later, Bush left a shattered economy, a trillion dollar deficit, and two useless wars, auto industry on verge of collapse, housing industry collapsed. Had job losses averaging 650,000 a month.

Obama saved the country from another Great Depression, rebuilt GM, reformed healthcare, reformed Wall Street, doubled the stock market, created 12 straight quarters of GDP growth, created 29 straight months of private sector job growth, got Bin Laden, got Gaddafi, and got us out of Iraq.

And now with the automatic spending cuts and the expiration of the Bush tax cuts in 2012, Obama has solved the deficit problem as well. The wealthy will need to look elsewhere for their annual bonuses.

Obama has done a very good job, and will keep doing it through 2016, when Hillary will be elected the 45th President.

While being vetted by Mitt Romney's campaign, GOP vice presidential hopeful Rep. Paul Ryan amended two years of his financial disclosure statements to add an income-producing trust worth between $1 million and $5 million that he had previously neglected to report.

You know, a million here, a million there, pretty soon you are talking about some REAL money.

Show us your tax returns Mitt. And please tell your wife to be quiet; she is such an aloof, elitist phony. And so belligerently stated: "We have nothing to hide. And we give 10% to charity."

Wow, nothing to hide. If that's the case, why continue to make everyone wonder? And please, an exact 10% to charity??? Not 9.7% or 10.7% or 11.1%. No, Ann Romney knows it right down to the exact %. Of course we all know 10% is the standard many religions/churches suggest. I don't believe for one minute that anyone, including the Romney's gives exactly 10% to charity, but Ann says they do.

Can't wait to see what Paul Ryan is going to offer as evidence of his tax returns; probably the same as Mitt - nothing of material significance.

How did Harry Reid make millions after becoming a Congressman. To paraphrase Reid "I haven't seen any evidence, but I have been told Reid made millions from illegal gambling and prostitution and likes sex with small animals."

One thing the democrats do not want to talk about is the economy, jobs, border control and national security!!

So he was born in Hawaii, right? So he went to Columbia and majored in political science, right? Columbia ain't Cambridge, you have to show up for class every once and a while. So why can't over 400 of his classmates of 1983 remember evey seeing him there?

When did he stop claiming to be an Indonesian exchange student ?

I know the answer, and it's the same answer all the time from this master prevaricator. It's when the truth becomes "inconvenient" for him.

And two cheers for PA who won a victory in court to keep all the dead/illegal or never existant people the democrites have voting in most elections from voting this time!

The DOJ, who want to enfranchise people mentioned above now can't have them voting in this election in PA! Maybe we will have less people, like Dirty Harry Reid winning "FIXED" elections if more states are forced to have legal elections!

I thought Harry Reid was the biggest moron, however, after listening to the idiot Chris Matthews it is no wonder the tingling sensation was between his ears. This is one liberal moron who needs mental assistance. The dirty liar-in-chief and Chicago politician Obama does not have any other way to get attention except to feed more BS and more lies because he has accomplished nothing of value for the American people. He has however created more debt, millions of lost jobs, bigger government, more lies and more division among Americans.

Obama and the democrats led by idiots like Axlehead, Plouffe, Bi-arrhea Biden, Wasserman Schultz, Cutter and other morons are try to BS the American people by their attempt to distract from the real issues of no jobs, more debt, and a very weak economy on the edge of distruction. They had control of our government and delivered nothing but more misery for the citizens of this country. Vote all of these imbeciles out in Nov.

                      Rick Colo...

Your first two words make you a liar...you said "I thought", an impossibility beyond comprehension.

And of course from day 1 the Repubs did all they could to support the President.

                      Isn't 181+ filibusters a new record??

                      From USAToday:

Mitt Romney told reporters today that he's paid an income tax rate of at least 13% for each of the last 10 years, providing more detail than ever on his recent payments.

Of course, being that Romney said that, makes it true. After all, his past history shows that once he takes a stand, he does not change his position......huh? Did I really write that?

King Flip Flop has a lot to prove...he can start with proving his integrity and honesty....yeah, right!
