CHILLICOTHE, OH – Mitt Romney used the final rally on his five-state bus tour to paint President Obama as an "intellectually exhausted" leader, forced to resort to "angry and desperate" tactics in his battle for re-election.
"This is an election in which we should be talking about the path ahead, but you don't hear any answers coming from President Obama’s re-election campaign,” Romney said. “That’s because he's intellectually exhausted, out of ideas, and out of energy. And so his campaign has resorted to diversions and distractions, to demagoguing and defaming others. It’s an old game in politics; what’s different this year is that the president is taking things to a new low."
While stumping in Ohio, the Republican presidential candidate preached to a receptive audience. President Obama focused on energy issues as well, praising wind power while campaigning in Iowa. And VP contender Paul Ryan began polishing his stump speech, laced with attacks on Obama's leadership. NBC's Peter Alexander reports.
The speech, delivered before several thousand in the town square of Ohio's first capital city, was designed to contrast then-candidate Obama's soaring language of hope and change with the mud-slinging, increasingly nasty tone of this election’s TV ads and campaign trail rhetoric.
"This is what an angry and desperate presidency looks like," Romney said. "President Obama knows better, promised better and America deserves better."
"Over the last four years, this president has pushed Republicans and Democrats about as far apart as they can go,” Romney continued. “And now he and his allies are pushing us all even further apart by dividing us into groups. He demonizes some. He panders to others. His campaign strategy is to smash America apart and then try to cobble together 51 percent of the pieces."
Mitt Romney's running mate, VP contender Paul Ryan, has a voting record that – at times – conflicts with his political identity as a fiscal conservative. NBC's Kelly O'Donnell reports.
On a day that began with a battle over Medicare policy and that descended into a heated back-and-forth over charged comments made by Vice President Joe Biden in southern Virginia, Romney decried the negative tone of the campaign – even as he went on the attack.
Biden tells audience GOP banks would put them 'back in chains'
"Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago and let us get about rebuilding and reuniting America," Romney said.
The Obama campaign responded with a statement pointing out Romney's campaign, too, is engaged in negative attacks over the airwaves.
“Governor Romney's comments tonight seemed unhinged, and particularly strange coming at a time when he's pouring tens of millions of dollars into negative ads that are demonstrably false,” Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said.

Yes, "unhinged" is a good description of Romney these days.
I know he lives in a different universe from the average American.
But if you are running for President for the last eight years, you would think he would have had a plan.
After all I thought as a business guy having a plan and strategy would be easy for him.
Biden has gone off the reservation again. LMAO
Obama has been the worst failure in American politics.
Sad excuse for a president.
Romney is whining all the time. No solutions just whining and crying about his feelings getting hurt. Is he trying to appeal to the women voters? Next he will have Ryan out there in a dress
Funny!
No he is not!! Bush left with a 25% approval rating and Obama has been holding steady at or around 50%.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president_obama_job_approval-1044.html
This guy needs first to pull his big girl britches and secondly stop being such a damn hypocrite. My GOD this man will say and do anything to get elected. His primary actions make him just as dirty and pathetic as he says Obama is. Now, he has Ryan. First he says he would sign the Ryan plan if sent to him as Pres. Then when he chooses him as VP, he starts backing away so as not to scare all the old people. He was for it before he was agin it... Flip flop flip flop... wow.. .and this is the best the Reps can put together????
Don't go away mad obama, just go away lol
GermanGem, Why are you commenting on American politics and websites? I though you said you left the USA because of the mess it had become? Just stay over there we dont need you bashing our president or commenting on American websites.

Ya, right Willard and you know what your side is up to doing tomorrow. I do also and I will post it in the morning you hypocritical
posPOS.Can't wait to read it blackcatwhitechat.
Newday I am posting the link at DDI
The liar Romney speaks.......and you guessed it, more lies.
What I don't get is how folks can vote for for a candidate that would give more rights to a rapists then their victims.
"Hey rapists know that if you succeed in impregnating your victim I Mitt Romney will use all force of the government to ensure your spawn is born".
Romney, for rapists rights.
bcwc: I'll look for it!
Obama has been the worst failure in American politics.
You don't read much history do you?
"his campaign has resorted to diversions and distractions, to demagoguing and defaming others."
It is amazing, that could describe Romney's campaign as well. Are these people for real?
Yes, Romney ... It's called "projecting".
RIP GOP.
We elect a black president and the GOP turns into George Wallace.
We need a new party to counter-balance the Dems, because the GOP is dead.
The whiteheads are dying off, so now America can go forward.
"Gone off the reservation"?
Do you always use racial metaphors when you insult?
Jeff - There was a clip where Santorum said the exact same thing - isn't the internet wonderful?
Keeps your falsehoods intact- doesn't it
You see Jeffrey we Democracts do check our sources - contrary to you who just picks up sound bites
Education - don't you love it?
Ya know...
Outside of Romney's suspicious business dealings (limited disclosure on tax returns, a retirement from Bain that moves around, hidden off-shore bank accounts, etc...);
...and his lack of any clear cut plan (all he does is spout generic, non-specific slogans and says, "I'll tell you what my plans are as soon as I'm elected");
...there's also the matter of his family's chosen religion.
Being a former Mormon, I know all too well how deeply the well of crazy he draws upon:
I hate to bring religion into this (not really), but... Here is Obama's stance on religion:
Here is a quote from Mitt Romney about religion:
...That doesn't sound too bad. Generic? Yes. Bad? Not really. Except when you get right down to his particular form of religion - Mormonism (Of which [don't forget] I am a former Mormon).
Mormonism is a pretty scary religion. Do we want this country ran by a Mormon?
I'm not advocating religious hatred here; however, in many ways the Mormon church is still young, AND could be considered a cult by many people (I'd like to hear the Pope's take on Mormons).
Here are some of the core Mormon beliefs:
Wow...
Mitt Romney was a Bishop in the Mormon Church. He's a fifth generation Mormon, his family has been involved in the lunacy since it started. He's about as close to David Koresh as David Koresh is... Do you looney tune Republicans really want HIM as president?
Not only am I a former Mormon (I was asked to leave the church many years ago for committing the cardinal sin of asking... "Why?") I am also a former Reagan/Bush-era Republican (Bush Sr. not his trainwreck of a son). Serving in the military during Ronald Reagan's Presidency? Voting for him all the way? You bet. I really loved that old bastard... Anyway... I don't think I'll be voting Republican this time around for the reasons listed above...
Think I'll stick to a secular president who doesn't drink too deeply from the crazy well...
Republicans are confused...the old Gingrich tactics of lying, and lying more aren't working, the Rove tactics of pretending your opponents strengths are his weaknesses aren't working, and people are slowly beginning to notice a trend...that Republicans screw everything up, every time. Say what you want about Obama...he's winning, and the ball has only started rolling. Republicans better hope their Voter Suppression works really well, it's all they have left.
This is typical Repugnican role reversal. Ie.. reverse racism against whites.
Mitt the Twit and his handlers are the desperate ones, so they have to assuage their weak intellects by believing and projecting that PBO and the Dems are just as desperate and pathetic as they are.
Every time Mitt opens his mouth, he sounds more and more like the A$$hole.
It's over Willard.
No tax returns? You don't stand a chance.
People have learned to smell a rat.
And there's voter fraud, 401(k) fraud, offshore money fraud, and who knows what else in those tax returns of yours.
Let's see 'em Willard.
.
Conservatism is dying in America.
That is a good thing. The ideas of the past, don't work today.
The world has gone forward. We need to do the same.
The old white bigots are dying off. What I am afraid of is the response of the shrinking Christian die-hards. What will they do when they realize the end is near? They think they have lost "their country." They want their country "back."
They want the days of Father Knows Best to come back. It is not going to happen.
I simpatize with them. The country of their grandfathers is changing, and without the proper education, they feel that somehow the core of America is lost. I do feel for you people, but you must realize that the old ideas do not work anymore.
These rednecks are armed to the hilt. They will hold onto their guns until their hands are cold and dead.
Will we have a redneck revolution?
Firstly "we can do it", learn basic spelling and punctuation. Secondly, stop the use of platitudes and generalities in your diatribe. They are old and tired and secondhand, probably a great deal like you are.
Thirdly, since you want the U.S. to be so much like Europe with its lack of "conservatism" as you put it or absence of morality while embracing the whole "I want to do whatever makes me happy and screw everyone else" mentality, maybe you should put your money where your mouth is and stump for Obama/Biden instead of espousing your opinion here as if its what the entire country feels (which we all know is a coastal, population center axiom only).
Riley many numbers, I do hope you are able to cope with the change that is happening.
Instead of attacking the inevitable, maybe you should realize that GOP is dead, and you need a new party to carry your old, tired, bigoted ideals. Good luck with that by the way.
Please don't take your big, big guns and start shooting people because USA people are more educated today than when you were a babe. We don't buy the old messages of the past, we have gone forward and you have not.
We have a black president. I know that kills you, but step down. Let nature (instead of your fake god) drive the future of this fantastic country.
I always thought Mitt was just a liar. I guess I was wrong. Turns out he's full gonzo wacko/delusional and thinks his "reality" is true. Calling the GOP Pysch Ward. I know you've guys have been unbelievably busy since the primaries began, but when you're through with 9-9-9 Herman, Moon-base Newt, and Bat-Sheet Crazy Michelle, could you please bring some restraints for Willard?
Bain/Pain 2012
Hey - Obama backers!
Why isn't Obama putting forth any plans? Why isn't he crowing about his accomplishments? Why is his whole campaign about demonizing his opponents?
Because That's his only way to win. He has no plan - at least nothing that hasn't already failed. He can't talk about the economy because it will remind people how badly he has handled things. His foreign policy is in shambles now that the Iranian-backed Muslim Brotherhood extremists are taking over the entire Middle East.
Obama has diminished the Presidency and diminished himself.

So get off the irrelevant discourse of "Racial metaphors" and tell me whats up with BIDEN here???
"He's about as close to David Koresh as David Koresh is."
Great line.
Q22 - Maybe you haven't realized that Obama does have a plan to put America back on track but currently Congress has put in place a "No Obama Agenda" operation. His message has been very clear unless you have been either sleep or listening to others state "he doesn't have a vision" media outlets. It has always been invest in clean energy, education, infrastructure AND taking the hard necessary steps to get the economy back on track. Also with politics in case you haven't figured it out, you first have to identify you opponent with the voters before you can tout your own accomplishments and since Romney won't "define" himself, Obama is doing the job for him.
While we are on the subject, we are still waiting for Romney to tell us what his grand plan is or has he done the subliminally with his pick of Paul Ryan? Isn't Romney doing the same thing by demonizing the President? I mean if you are going to complain about something at least look at both sides or cement your argument with some positives of who you are defending/attacking.
and a RMoney presidency would be OBSCENE and IDIOTIC...MEH!
Romney is "Flimsy and Desolate"... He picked a young boy and then called him, "The Next President of the United States"!! What a fool and his pick was equally as SILLY!
Yes, sorry, had to capitalize SILLY.. It's so you, GOP! Completely out of touch and now grasping at SILLY STRAWS!!!
Welcome to your landslide loss you fools. Try to get in touch with AMERICA!.. You know, the one you totally lost when GW Bush ruined the economy and working America!!! The Country he ruined, yet made money in Iraq with The Carlylse Group and Halliburton!! You guys in the GOP remember that! And the Wealthy Tax CREDITS!! You remember that!! How good it was to be rich and watch the poor sell off and take their assests.
VOTE OBAMA! IF YOU HAVE A "DECENT" EDUCATION!
Shosyn & Company -- Biden is referring to quotes by Republicans like Santorum -- They used that same term about chains. Look it up!
Romney and Ryan the Robber Barons LYING about the president stealing money from Medicare is "angry and desperate" Projection Politics. These two Robber Barons are the ones who want to steal money from seniors, the poor, the sick, and the least among us to give more tax breaks to the rich.
Romney and Ryan are NOT fiscal conservatives concerned about deficits -- They are plutocrats who believe in Ayn Rand social Darwinism of protecting the rich and throwing everyone else under the bus. They cannot be trusted to put country first before their own greed and self interests.
VOTE OBAMA IF YOU ARE IN FAVOR OF COMMUNISM!

Be sure and take out the spaces.
I am not in favor of Mitt Romney, I had wanted to see Ron Paul get the Republican nomination since he may have stood a chance at balancing the budget. Mr. President Obama wants to be Queen or King.. (do not know which one yet).
This is on election I may just sit out on due to bad choices on both sides. I have never seen a presidential race with so much evil from two candidates. One has shown his while in office. The other is still a huge question mark.
In my opinion.
Yep maybe Obama is a little mad..... Would you not be if your country is getting screwed over like ours is by the Tea Party..... The Party Of No Has To Go.....
No Drama Obama, however I AM angry about the voodoo economic destruction of our country.
Paul Ryan's plan is based on the same old supply-side BS that tax cuts pay for themselves and that tax cuts for the rich "trickle down" and create jobs. We've been doing that for the last 12 years, and where are the JOBS? Where is the tide that lifts all boats?
The Romney and Ryan plan is to continue redistributing wealth from the middle class and working poor to the richest 1% (privatizing profit and socializing debt). They are not only plutocrats, they favor a Christian theocracy. Now these two Robber Barons would have to fight it out as to the Mormon or Catholic version, but you can be sure they agree on an oligarchy.
We have never seen such radicalism, not even Barry Goldwater. This is Ayn Rand social Darwinism without the atheist part. Be afraid, very afraid.
The only desperate person is Mitt ROmney, trying to be President NO MATTER WHAT.
And he does not want to be for the people, but to satisfy his own super ego.
I ignore ignoramuses. Welcome to my ignore-list.
Well, Mitt, your GOP's 24/7 all media hate aimed at Obama for 4 years combined with your GOP Congressional rating lower than dirt and stated dedication to Obama's failure kinda removes any complaining about Obama being angry.
And, yes, Obama is desperately trying to keep a complete blithering idiot with two supporting congressional bodies from dismantling this country bit by bit. We should all be afraid of a Romney presidency. This puppet would take all progress back to before the depression if his handlers get their way.
So Obama is "angry and desperate"? What's that make you? Calm, cool, and too f@#king rich to give a @!$%#? (Sorry, my angry desperation to keep you out of office is showing)
Wow, angry people here.
I think he has a legitimate point- If you are the President it is your job to run on what you've accomplished and where the country should go, if you are running to get into office it's your job to point out all of the reasons why the existing person in office isn't good at their job. The President has been campaigning against a non-existant Romney Presidential record- he's campaigning to get into an office he alerady has. It's backwards. He's using fear to stay in office, not promoting the future.
Obama should be running on the benefits of his tenure- he should be telling us how we are all better off for his domestic and foreign policies, his use of governmental divisions to regulate industries and change environmental protection, show the number on how his policies have stabolized the economy and created jobs, how education has flourished with his national initiatives, and show the statistics on how the stimulus saved the nation. The President should be showing us how he united the country and how we are headed in the right direction. So why isn't he?
Romney, once again, you got it wrong. Obama is not angry. The American people (in general) are angry. You sit back in one of your many palaces and say "you know what American's need". How can you do that when you change your mind everyday? How can you relate to Americans when you get a tax credit on a $77,000 horse, and they get $1,000 for a child? You and Ryan are completely out of touch with the lower and middle class and have NO plan to help them.
Obama has made mistakes and I do not agree w/everything he has done. However, he is the right choice for this country.
Say what you will about the man.....
MITT ROMNEY HAS SAVED AMERICA!
No, really he has.
With his selection of Paul Ryan as his running mate he has doomed his ticket and his party to the footnotes of history. He has set the stage for the biggest Presidential landslide in American history and the complete reversal of all the evil we've suffered over the past decade thanks to Bush/Cheney and the Tea and Antipathy Party.
So, while we are administering the coup de grace to to his Presidential aspirations let's never forget...
MITT ROMNEY HAS SAVED AMERICA
Just not the way he had planned.
Obama/Biden 2012
Right about the first part, dead wrong on the second. The person campaigning against the incumbent should point out why they are the better choice. Instead of highlighting the other's failures, the opposition should present clear reasons they are better qualified and capable.
Both candidates have resorted to negative campaigning, and the reason is obvious. Obama's performance over the last 3.5 years has been mediocre at best. He made promises that he would never be able to keep. Every candidate does it, and no incumbent wants to remind the American people about those promises. Romney's deliberate ambiguity regarding his own plans is a means of avoiding making promises he can't keep.

Skip. I hope your right. Romney and Ryan are one scary duo. Not quite as bad a pick as Palin, but Ryan alienates many even though he at least knows something about government.
I just hope enough voters truly vote based on knowledge of the candidates and not who they would friend on Facebook.
OU,
Oh I agree, the only way he could have done worse than Ryan is to have picked Palin or Bachman. But I think Ryan will do the job nicely.
By the way, if you havn't visited the "DOGS AGAINST ROMNEY" web-site you should. I laughed until tears rolled down my face. Be sure you check out the music video featuring Miss Swiss Bank Account, "I'm a Romney Girl, In a Romney World, He's so plastic, it's fantastic." I'm laughing again.
Obama/Biden 2012
Pay attention to Ryan and Romney's stance on person-hood. Ryan submitted legislation that would define life as beginning the moment a sperm enters an egg and would thus be granted the status of being a human being. If you follow that logic many forms of birth control, hormonal, IUD, etc. would become illegal, because they essentially abort the zygote before it implants in the uterine wall. This also effectively outlaws "test tube" babies because more eggs are fertilized than implanted. This is generally the Catholic Churches position on human life which is why they only endorse the rhythm method of birth control. Don't believe me, Google it.

Well Beezlemaestro...
It's a pity you didn't bother to post any points to contradict a single one of my bullets. Sorry. Those of us who were on the inside of the Mormon religion, and we now stand outside looking in... It really is a cult. It's not that bad of a cult mind you. I think Mormons are very nice people. Just completely deluded. Personally I'd prefer not have a delusional man at the helm with his finger on the nuclear button.
JoeNY
Oh yea... you bet... just like Busk did. Ever hear of Rovian politics? How about swift-boating? You just make this stuff up as you go or do you have some examples for us on how you think "presidents should run". More likely you just don't like the narrative that's developing. Rove would have argued in the past that negative ads are only effective if they resonate with the voters... he would probably say something different today.
Pathetic and Shameful is really what this Presidents term has been.
A huge hole dug for the Republicans to fix AGAIN. Thanks Dems.
Anjisan
Sorry, I should have realized based on how much garbage you posted that you obviously don't know anything about the religion. Here are a few bits for you to chew on...
Wrong. Women do not rely on their husbands for salvation. They rely on Jesus Christ. And there is nothing anywhere in any of their beliefs that suggest eternal pregnancy. Please, show me where that's stated if you truly believe that nonsense.
The "heavenly council" as you put it determined which of the two people wanted to follow. Satan would never have become the redeemer, and it wasn't a vote. It was a choice of who people wanted to follow.
Inferior? No. They were denied some privileges, such as holding the priesthood, but inferior is definitely not an accurate description.
Yes, there were Mormons who carried out that tragedy, but you seem to be inferring that it was condoned by the religion as a whole. Did their prophet condone that action?
Wrong yet again. They don't believe he retranslated it, but was instructed not to do so. Hence, that lost translation was gone for good.
Oh, and the Mormon church doesn't kick people out for asking "why." They kick people out for unrepentant behavior...generally pretty serious moral issues such as adultery, murder, or associating with groups who actively work against their faith by professing the types of falsehoods you provided earlier.
Would you like any more examples?
MarcT- Granted I may be one of a dying breed, but I am not impressed by the negative campaigning of either party. I shows me that- 1. They aren't interested in my vote, 2. They aren't interested in the issues, and 3. Would rather denegrate the free election process than show that it's a good and positive thing that the rest of the world would love to have.
My take- Not happy with the established republican or democrat parties; both are way too entrenched and corrupt to be useful. I'd just assume both candidates be forced to answer a series of written questions regarding their beliefs, their positions on various national issues, their policies (how to deal with said national issues), and what they plan on accomplishing in 4 years of service to the country. Put them both in little boxed rooms with no electronics/contact to the free world and let them take the test for a day. Release their answers to the public and analyze them for viable content over rhetoric. There are a number of major problems with where we've allowed campaigning go- 1. Too much PAC money, 2. Too many non campaign endorsed (hehe, but we want them to do the dirty work for us) slander ads, 3. Too long a campaign cycle, 4. To many campaign stops and coverage, 5. Too many vague campaign speaches and promises, 6. Too few actual plans for the future, 7. Too much divisive language- them against us, 8. Too long being away from your jobs to do the people's work. Etc. etc.
Beezlemaestro...
Spin brother spin... Spin all you want. However, I think this statement RIGHT HERE clearly demonstrates how absolutely disingenuous you are.
...and you're calling me a liar...
Nice...
I'll say it again... Mormonism is a cult. If Joseph Smith was pushing his BS nowadays, the internet would have ripped him and his lies apart.
Anjisan
Yes, at this point I will call you a liar. I pointed out some of the falsehoods you posted, and your response is relegated to calling me disingenuous based on your misinterpretation of a word. Absolutely brilliant. Have fun spewing your lies elsewhere hoping that there aren't people who know better. I've wasted enough time with you.
Ditto...
Kids stay away from Mormons.
They're the 1850's version of the People's Temple or the Branch Davidians.
Shame on you FAKE Liberals. You say you're about tolerance, but look at yourselves.
Bashing a person for thier religion.
Disgusting.
Wrong Alil... I'm bashing a person based on their involvement with a cult. Would you call me disgusting if I attempted to stop Jim Jones from becoming mayor of San Francisco? Would you tell me I was wrong for calling out David Koresh when he wanted to become mayor of Waco? How about Harold Camping? How about Marshall Applewhite?
What we should be discussing is this: Where is the line drawn between an actual religion and when that religion drifts into the area we all know as a Cult.
Jim Jones started off as a Methodist preacher in the 1950's with communist leanings; however, the Methodist church has been around since the mid 1700's. Jim Jones only wanted to introduce a little communism into religion and the communal death of 900 people was the result.
Mormonism, has a much less stellar genesis: Here's a clip from Joseph Smith's early life:
Of course, these golden plates were never found because they never existed. Joseph Smith made the WHOLE THING up...
Why should I be tolerant of made up BS. Mormonism, Scientology, People's Temple, Branch Davidians, etc... They're just making things up, claiming tax exempt status while they do it, and then screaming at us as they take us to court (you litigious Scientologists, you) for not taking them seriously.
I swear to God (ha ha) we need someone to tell us what is the line between an actual religion and a made-up for profit cult like the Mormons.
By the way, Alil... If you are a woman, you are aware of this little fact: In Mormonism, you NEVER get to Heaven without the blessing of your Husband, right? He gets to Heaven for following God's word, YOU get to Heaven for following your husband's word. How's that for second-hand-citizen status?
...but more importantly whether or not Mormonism is a cult or not (It is..)... Is the fact that we have a guy who is attempting to get elected to the most powerful office in the world, and he has this belief system? A system where women only get to Heaven based upon being saved by their husbands. Where the black man is considered a subhuman bearing the mark of Cain. Where Jesus came to the New World and preached to white Native Americans in cities that don't appear to have ever existed. A religion based upon a made up story by a known liar and conman, Joseph Smith.
If Romney can talk himself into believing this drivel, then there's no telling what else he can convince himself of. Delusional people should not be given any power at all...
Show us your tax returns and I'll forgive all of your lies for the past two weeks Willard.
Not going to happen. If Mitt releases his return for 2010 it'll show that he lived in California when he voted in the special election to replace the late Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts. He didn't even own property in Massachusetts, he lied on the voter registration form listing an address in his son's unfinished basement as his place of residence. Massachusetts law defines a place of residence for voter registration purposes as "where one dwells and is the center of their domestic, social and civil life."
So you see, if Mitt Romney releases his tax returns, he'll be admitting to committing voter fraud.
Romney playing the "crying game"
Romney will show his tax returns when Obama shows his college records
PTI,
Don't forget what the Mrs said about mitt revealing his tax returns " that's all YOU PEOPLE need to see".
You know, averon, it is a bit desperate to compare showing college records, which no one shows and have nothing to do with this, to showing tax returns that everyone does. That's pretty old and pretty silly, actually, to say that...lol.
Romney will show his tax returns when Obama shows his college records
averon - Its a false comparison, but that would be a great trade off...
Obama/Biden 2012
averon,
Since when do reps care about education?
re: "Romney will show his tax returns when Obama shows his college records"
I have to assume you never went to College, nor understand what the Harvard Law Review is.
Romney could help himself loads by releasing half a dozen of his past tax return statements, explain why he has tens of millions in off shore tax shelters and why he uses dummy post office boxes as business addresses in the Cayman island.....
If romney is not guilty of anything illegal or unethical why not provide us the evidence of his innocence
Michael,
Romney has shown all tax returns that are legally required. I assume he has paid the least amount of taxes required by law taking into all of his income, investment income and write offs. I would expect you did likewise. In other words, it is a non-issue. If it was an issue, the IRS would have raised it prior.
However, what is at issue is the high unemployment rate and deficit spending that the current POTUS has presided over. He has been a failure, has not kept his committments and has been dishonest.
Time for a change. Time to bring the adults in to address the problems.
Sweet Equity, I did go to college. What is the big deal if Obama shows his college records? It too is a non-issue, but why all the concern about him disclosing his grades. Similar to Romney and his minimal payment of taxes, I assume Obama had a series of D's and F's along the way. Not pertinent to his record as POTUS, so why not just disclose them. BTW, I heard Harry Reid mention the D's and F's....that's what I read somewhere.
I'm an independent. I contribute to blogs on both conservative and liberal sites with equal vigor and try to offer meaningful opposing views on both sides.
In this case, I'm on your site. Please don't blast me for simply asking a few objective questions seeking answers.
Why is it that Obama's campaign, and his surrogates, continue to run a scortched earth policy on Romney, and now Ryan, instead of focusing on his record as President?
But, WHY wont Obama act Presidential, stick to defending his record, and LAY OUT a plan for the country's future, instead of the broken record of blaming others, deriding the other team, and avoiding spelling out HIS plan to solve the Medicare and larger budget problems?
His own Democrat controlled Senate (leave the House of Representatives out of this for now, I'm being specific) didn't even vote for his budget!
Why when the dismal jobs reports come out, does Obama and his surrogates ratchet up the "where's Romney's tax returns" rhetoric to distract people from the negative news?
If Romney is smart enough to use the U.S. tax code to his advandage, I WANT that sort of intelligence to fix the economy.
Since when, in AMERICA of all places, is SUCCESS derided? Derision of success comes from envy and failure. This is unsettling.
I am done with the "shiny object" distractions by Obama and his surrogates. I JUST wants answers and solutions for the future of our country. OUR country.
I'm just curious. And if you read my posts on the conservative sites, you'll see I am just as critical of them.
I just want answers, not name calling.
Can anyone help?
Good questions Brilliant. Don't expect much here. Just partisan liberal flamethrowers. You'll get lots and lots of talking points though.
Having worked for a company Rumney bought out; I do NOT want that man as President. He told all of us (about 23 employees) that he was giving us a better health insurance and retirement plan. We were to sign over our current retirement plans and sigh up for the new health insurance package, relinquishing our old plans. Some of the employees had worked there 30 years so they had quite a bit to turn over to Romney. Needless to say all the transactions were completed in one day BY about 3 PM. By 5 PM Ronmey then fired all of us, taking with him our retirements, and our health care packages were to him now tax write-offs. We left with the shirts on our backs. He is a thief and a lie and a cheat and that will come back to bite Americans. Simply because he can cheat on taxes and steal from workers their life savings; does not make him a competent leader. It did not make Hitler one, and it will not make Mitt The Twit aka Romney one either. I do not want a President who cheats and I will not be voting for Twit.
SHOW YOUR TAXES TWIT!
If you want answers to our country, just look at the market now! It's over 13,000 points and G.W. Bush left it at 7,000!!!!!
The Dow Jones, thanks to Obama is over 13,000 points and Bush left it at 7,000!!
That's a TOTAL REBOUND FOR AMERICA AND THE WORLD!!!
I laugh at the GOP Republican fools!! They want money, they want rich, they want people to be confused so they don't go with the President who has made it all happen for ALL OF US THE LAST YEAR!
It's starting to get good again and we feel it.. Jobs, and investments are finally back and now Romney wants to ruin it again... What a MISTAKE!! LOSE ROMNEY!
RE-ELECT OBAMA 2012!! Finally, a decent human being with a heart!!
Brilliant -- No one is going to buy your claim of being well-informed with a post like that. If you really seek information, you would have done your own research and would know the president's awesome record that he IS in fact running on.
From bman80
There are other excellent lists like this that have been posted over time. Q22 -- Project much Troll of Talking Points?
True Patriot, well said!
@OreCat: I was involved in one of the Bain take-overs too, and have written about it before. The LAST person that anyone should consider giving one iota of power to is this slimey devil Romney. After what we have been through as a nation thanks to every Republican that has been in office since 1980, I am sure beyond a doubt that ole Mitt will be the puppet to break the camel's back if he is elected. There might be just one more dollar to squeeze out of all the working stiffs, and by golly, he will be the one to do it.
If there was truly justice, all the money, OUR money, that Bain/Romney stole from retirement plans would be returned to us from Switzerland, or the Caymans, or the Mormon Church, or wherever else he has it stashed. It amounts to legalized larceny, pure and simple. The only thing Mitt Romney should be running for is because Bubba is chasing him in prison.
And, @Dave Simpson: I completely agree with you...I happened to notice 4 signs saying "Now Hiring Mechanics" and "Tech Needed" and so forth on a short stretch of road last night, where previously the businesses were closing earlier and earlier to save some money. Yeah, it's small, but things ARE picking up. It's been a long time since there were signs like that around here anywhere except fast-food joints or TT bars.
And lastly: BRAVO, True Patriot!! EXCELLENT!!
Courtesy of Citizens United, that is the playbook for this election. SuperPacs for Ham Rove and such have laid out the battlefield for this campaign. You can thank the right leaning, corporate shill Supreme Court Justices for that.
True Patriot -
Please keep posting that list on the bottom of every one of your replies.
It bears repeating...... over and over.
Yes, it DOES bear repeating.
Patriot...May we cut and pass it on? There may be others out there, but this is nicely succinct. Permission from bman80, perhaps?
Brilliant - You do have excellent questions and the same can be said for Romney as well but I will do my best as an independent too, to answer with my best opinion and what I know by research to be true:
Part of one Politics is to define your opponent. As I told Q22 earlier, Since Romney has been secretive regarding who he is or what he plans to do or policies he would put in place, Obama has taken the initiative in defining Romney for the American people. This is, in my opinion a good strategy that could work as well as backfire if he continues down this path, my guess is he will turn to what he has accomplished during and after the conventions.
The plan as I understand it has been the same plan that is currently sitting on Senator Reid's desk which is his jobs plan(invest in education, clean energy, infrastructure, small businesses, etc). Although I don't like the "blame" game as anyone else does, you have to admit as an independent that he has been under some heavy resistance with the Congress that has done a great job of ignoring or obstructing any attempt fro him to get anything accomplish as they have decided to put party before country and to me that's a great disappointment as well as a smart move on them to paint Obama as a failure. It may, however hurt them in the end. Medicare he did address some with the AHCA (aka Obamacare) but it will take some serious discussions one of which I personally would like to see and that's to make Medicare AND Social Security their own programs like they were originally designed to be and make it a constitutional amendment that they stay that way. This way they will work as intended and congress OR the president by law, can't go in and "raid" the coffers like they currently enjoy which in my opinion has started this "ticking timebomb".
This,in my opinion was a great move by Harry Reid. If they would have voted on the measure and it was defeated, it would effectively killed the bill and thus had no chance of being re-introduced. Not too many people remember that 20(i believe that is the correct number) dems voted for the measure until Reid realized it would be defeated so instructed all those in favor to change their vote(and him also) in order to keep the bill alive. Like you, I was curious about this also so I started digging.
I honestly have not heard this come up every time the jobs report came out. I do remember it coming out in June but it was at the height of the conversation but it did not come up this past month. Actually, again in my opinion, ANY jobs being created, whether temporary or permanent is a good thing being that we were losing jobs prior to Obama being sworn into office. This means fewer people on welfare or government assistance, unemployment and more in tax revenue. As anemic as these jobs reports are, they are in effect, good news for those that were hired as well as those that were out of the job market but are making their way back in as the see jobs being generated no matter how slow the pace. The reality is until congress starts to put "country first", this will continue to be anemic growth.
I agree with you up to this point. As Americans, we are by law told we have to pay taxes on money we earn. Even though most of his income was earned through dividends and interest, I don't believe it is "American" to hide money overseas in order to get out of paying taxes on that income. Now if you want to take tax deductions alloted by the government and use loopholes to reduce your tax rate, then good on you. However, resorting to the level of moving money overseas in order to avoid paying taxes to me is very UN-American.
I'm not sure where you are going with this but here's my view and I hope this is where you were going with this. I have no problem with Romney being rich I have no problem with all the success he has had as a business man so forth and so on. It's how he obtained that success that troubles me especially if it was on the backs of hardworking Americans. As a retired military veteran, I took an oath to support and defend the constitution of the US against all enemies both foreign and domestic. If what they say is true, this in my opinion is domestic warfare at it's finest and taking people's job, benefits and life savings (401k and others) doesn't sit well with me.
My opinion on this is simple. If the republicans would have nominated the right man to take back the white house(there is still time to do this), they would have nominated John Huntsman. In my opinion, he would have been a much better candidate to run against Obama and if he would have presented sound measures to get America back on the right track, I would vote for him in a heartbeat. The problem I have with Romney other than is "generalize" talk with no substance or real solutions, is that he wants to give a tax break to only the top 1% and do away with loopholes that will no doubt hurt the middle and lower income brackets like myself AND take away my daughter's healthcare that she has thanks to the AHCA.
Actually, there is no legal requirement for a presidential candidate to disclose his tax forms. It has become a tradition, a tradition that was started by none other than Mitt Romney's father, George Romney, during his runup to presidential candidate in the 1968 election.
This was detailed by George Romney's biographer, T. George Harris:
“He balked when I badgered him for a copy of his latest Form 1040, the Federal Individual Income Tax Return,” Harris wrote. “Release of the document, while it might serve a political purpose, would not prove very much, he argued. One year could be a fluke, perhaps done for show, and what mattered in personal finance was how a man conducted himself over the long haul.”
“Stumped by this argument, I was not prepared for the move that it eventually led him to make: He ordered up all the Form 1040's that he and Mrs. Romney had filed over the past twelve years —
Mitt obviously values his father's opinion and has admitted his father's political advice during his campaign. One can only wonder why Mitt has allowed this tax issue to become such an issue!

Crap. Voter fraud. Since having photo ID doesn't touch that fraud maybe we should require home inspections for all would-be voters... and require at least a fold-out couch, coffee/breakfast table and a lamp. That'll stop this sh!t in it's tracks... but only if Republicans are the guiltier party.
Common Sense:
Excellent post, thank you.....your name says it all.
I personally have wondered why Obama does not just have a sit down talk on TV and explain why he has not been able to accomplish everything he promised because of the NO votes on many items that Republicans previously supported under Bush........He needs to confront the issue of Norquist pledges and the Republicans promise to make him a one term president regardless of what that means to the economy, people or country as a whole. That is a serious problem with the Republican strategy that is not appreciated or highlighted. Blocking, stalling and refusing to negotiate in good faith..........and then blaming the President for not getting things done........might be good political strategy but bad for the people of the US who are not millionaires.
The anger and desperation are showing in the Romney camp. As more about Paul Ryan come out it will become worse. Why isn't the Romney campaign making public to the republican voters the fact that Ryan supports gay and lesbian rights?
@averon1
Your interest in Obama's college records is strange as it is an established fact that he was president of the Harvard Law Review. That one thing says a great deal about how his academic record went. His professor recalls him in this article http://www.npr.org/2012/05/22/153214284/obamas-harvard-days-began-with-exclamation-point
And are you trying to apologize for Romney's intransigence concerning his tax records by raising Obama's college records to the same level?
There is no excuse for Romney's lack of transparency as we need to know if he skated on taxes by using devices most Americans would consider evasive while still legal. Ann Romney looked positively uneasy when questioned recently about their taxes and off-shore accounts. She brought up their contributions to "charity". Well, Ann, your church and any other church is not really charity. It's a must-do if you want to remain a Mormon in good standing. It's the club membership fee. It's not optional.
The Romney's aren't going to be white house material as long as they stay on this trajectory. It is a real shame the GOP couldn't muster a better candidate with real ideas and less contempt for the standing president. I guess he bought the candidacy as well.
I am all for everyone rights, but the support of homosexual marriage and for homosexuals to be adopting children and abortion trumps everything. I will not vote for anyone who supports these issues and that includes Romney/Ryan. They are destroying America.
Great post CommonSense! As a Right-Leaning Independent it was great to read a post that gave good rational arguments of the candidates without derision. Thanks!
The real question that should be asked of Romney by you people is why does this nation have an economy, financial and health system that only works for the rich?
Brilliant... Nobody is denying that Romney and for that matter Obama, Ryan and Biden aren't smart talented people. What we are saying, is that Romney is cursed with tunnel vision, that he has little or no concern for those his grand schemes run over. That may be fine if his focus were all of the citizens of the United States, and our allies which these day in age is the whole world, but he has gone out of his way to placate the extreme right wing and has surrounded himself with a bus-load of Bush era neo-cons, exactly the same crowd Obama has been forced to fight for the last four years. I for one am not going to give him a chance to reinstate their destructive policies.
OXBRon - good post. Obama has had his hands tied from the disgusting Congress that currently sits in their position. VOTE OUT ALL CONGRESS WHEN YOU GET YOUR CHANCE!!!!
Bottom line is - Obama et al have screwed up so bad that Romney/Ryan are a shoe in. But you Dem's keep sending your 3 bucks to Obama that he begs for every day in his pleading emails, and he'll continue waste it, just like he's doing to our tax dollars.
The fiscal conservatives have been sold down the river by themselves.
If they were serious, Ron Paul would be the nominee.
Romney/Ryan are more of the same "do as I say, not as I do". Ryan has never been intersted in a balanced budget, otherwise why would he vote to spend trillions on bailouts, tax breaks and wars without paying for them?
It seems the majority of people decide their voting preference from a 10 second commercial and a snapshot in Time magazine.
Brilliant - That backfired on you...ouch.
A lot is being said in the media about Mitt Romney not being "likable" or that he doesn't "relate well" to people. Frankly, we struggled to understand why. So after much research, we have come up with a Top Ten List to explain this "unlikablility."
Top Ten Reasons To Dislike Mitt Romney:
1. Drop-dead handsome with a genuine, and gracious, statesmanlike aura. Looks like every central casting's #1 choice for Commander-in-Chief.
2. Been married to ONE woman his entire life, and has been faithful to her, including through her bouts with breast cancer and MS.
3. No scandals or skeletons in his closet. (How boring is that?)
4. Can't speak in a fake, southern, "black preacher voice" when necessary.
5. Highly intelligent. Graduated cum laude from both Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School...and by the way, his academic records are NOT sealed.
6. Doesn't smoke or drink alcohol, and has never done drugs, not even in the counter-culture age when he went to college. Too square for today's America?
7. Represents an America of "yesterday", when people believed in God, went to Church, didn't screw around, worked hard, and became a SUCCESS!
8. Has a family of five great sons…..and none of which have police records or are in drug rehab. But of course, they were raised by a stay-at-home mom, and that "choice" deserves America's scorn.
9. Oh yes.....he's a MORMON. We need to be very afraid of that very strange religion that teaches its members to be clean-living, patriotic, fiscally conservative, charitable, self-reliant, and honest.
10. And one more point.....pundits say because of his wealth, he can't relate to ordinary Americans. I guess that's because he made that money HIMSELF.....as opposed to marrying it or inheriting it from Dad. Apparently, he didn't understand that actually working at a job and earning your own money made you unlikeable to Americans.
My goodness, it's a strange world, isn't it?
Get to really know what each candidate truly stands for!
Fake Patriot - I fixed this for you. All truth in italics. You are too easy libturd
1. First president to successfully ensure that every American (except in the states that can't afford Medicaid) will have medical care without regard to pre-existing conditions. This includes some 20 million children. - All for only $2.4 Trillion in new taxes!!
2. Raised fuel standards on American cars to nearly double by 2024, going up to 55MPG. - Which will be changed by the next Congress
3. Race to the Top education reform promising higher standards. - Wow, promising higher standards...heck, that's just as good as law right??
4. Saved American auto industry (unions). - Except for that little bitty $25 Billion GM still owes taxpayers
5. Withdrew all combat troops from Iraq as promised in 2008 campaign. - Based on timetable from Bush, even though there are still thousands of troops there.
6. Got a measure of justice for 9/11 killings by killing bin Laden. - Obammer was on Seal Team 6? Wow, didn't know that. I thought they interrupted his back 9 that day to drag him into the war room?
7. Improved foreign relations with the rest of the world. I don't know how much you travel overseas, Chuck but the world is a little friendlier since Obama became president.. - Oh yeah Fake P, I just booked spring break in Libya.
8. Severely crippled Al Queda's ability to launch attacks against the U.S.- How? With sanctions? Guns? How the heck did Pres Zero do this?
9. Supported the end of the regime in Libya without loss of any U.S. forces. - At least not any that you know about
10. Knows when to use soft power and hard power. With Moochelle? Or are you talking about his golf game? WTF does this even mean?
11. Turned around a financial crisis threatening a depression.- Yep, 40+ months of 8% UE, $5T in new debt...wow, that's a serious turn around
12. Recognized the ignorance of austerity during a severe recession; something the GOP and many European governments failed to recognize. - He recognized it...OK, so did he actually do anything or just give a speech on it?
13.Built stronger programs for military families. - I'm sure they are thrilled
14. Ended "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in military. Great - fudge packing in fox holes
15. Supported gay marriage as a recognition of a civil right. - He supports it all right, too bad there isn't any law that will pass at the fed level for this garbage
16. Recognition that Bush tax cuts were inappropriate when fighting two unpaid wars.. - Then why did Pres Zero pass them TWICE?
17. Realizes the enormous income gaps between rich and poor ought to be addressed as a matter of justice/fairness. - Yes, Socialism is good...gotta spread the wealth around right Fake Pat?
18. Opened travel to Cuba for Cuban American families. - Wow, just wow - THAT one really helped the economy and jobs...that was a biggie
19. Supported tighter banking regulations. - But took massive donations from them and still didn't pass any laws for tightening regs
20. Countered China's push for hegemony in the Pacific by suppporting countries in the region. - By giving a speech right?
21. Accomplished all of the above(most were campaign promises of 2008) despite a republican leadership stating that his defeat was their priority right from the start of his administration. Damn right...the guy is dangerous, unless you're a Fake Patriot
This is the record of an administration deserving another four years. - Right, as long as the four years are served in Brazil or Iran
Mitko: You forgot a few...
He is a member of a cult. A cult that manipulates through fear and guilt. A cult that is secretive and exclusionary. A cult that covertly believes that pregnant, multiple wives are a 'holy' asset. A cult that has utilized the 'separation clause' to become one of the wealthiest groups in the country. A cult that turns out their young men that have no status and no skills to 'find their own way', even if that means being on the public dole or entering a life of crime. A cult that was begun by a shyster, not 2000 years ago so that provability is lost in the annals of time, but less than 200 years ago where records still exist. The list of crimes and misdemeanors could go on and on, but they are freely available on the internets; perhaps try one of the 'recovering mormon' websites that google can provide.
Anyone that belongs to this cult, especially the product of 5 generations, cannot possibly be anything but delusional. You wax eloquent on Romney's 'morality', but even the most perverse criminals have beliefs of what is proper, and holy, and moral.
And what of the "honesty" that is so important in Romney's character, as you spoke of? It seems that his, and your, kind of honesty is merely a word, with no substance to back it up. Mitt wouldn't know the truth if it bit him on the kiester, and has proven this time and time and time again. The man is a pathological liar! Somehow that doesn't square with honesty or morality, in my mind, or those of countless others: we all know precisely what Mitt "stands for", and it's not the good of our nation. No, Romney's only goal is the ultimate trump of self-aggrandizement in this country...the name "President" Romney.
Yes, he does look like a central casting pick...and that's EXACTLY what he is. The GOP's puppet, and as brainless, sociopathic, and narcissistic as their last one was.
Show us your college transcripts and Student loan documents, Mr. Obama, and we will still not forgive you for your campaign lies the past three months.
Sheeesh, the Liberals still have time to wish Mr. Obama Happy Birthday. Just click on his picture on the Front Page of NBCNDC.
This Presidential election campaign is going to go down in History as the WORST ever run by a Decmocratic ~ Liberal President. And the strings for running this campaign is coming straight from the East Wing of the White House with assistance of Valerie Jarrett.
Romney-Ryan to take back America from the radicals.
Romney is quite likely embarrassed to show his returns .... They will prove how rich he is.
Taxes paid three million plus or minus a few dollars
Charitable contributions another three million or so.
Quite embarrassing indeed says Biden.
Want more than one year returns change the law.
Rev. Al. Sharpton Thank You and the MSNBC team for reporting excellent political/new events. I WOULD LIKE TO SALUTE THE TROOPS, VETERANS and THEIR FAMILIES. Thanks for your sacrifices. From my viewpoint, I see a massive amount of political smoke screens, hypocritical contradictions, proposed medicare voucher/coupon gimmicks, and radical social security, medicaid, social program cuts from the Romney/ Ryan 2012 Campaign AYN RAND philosophical Bromance duo. The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC is politically insightful and enjoyable. Hey Girl, Paul X-TREME Ryan is "NO" adorable, multi-talented actor like Ryan Gosling. Romney/ Ryan has decided to release the "MINIMAL LEGALLY REQUIRED TAX RETURNS." WHAT THE..?!!! Harry S. Truman said, "If you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen." Im thinking about Kenny Roger's songs "The Gambler and You Picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille." In my opinion, all Americans should be well informed for their own safety and security about the earned income and transparent financial history of anyone whose applying to be the presumptive President/ Vice President nominee. THERE SHOULD BE NO COMPROMISE!!! It's not about class warfare or distractions. From my perspective, its about National/ Homeland Security and Foreign Policy Issues. Any politician like Mitt Etch-A-Sketch Romney should know better and be downsized from elections if they do not exceed minimum standards. The American people are required to exceed minimum standards to become eligible registered voters. In my opinion, as leaders Romney/ Ryan should always aspire to be excellent leaders. ARISTOTLE, the ancient Greek philosopher said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." Mitt Flip-Flop Romney has international offshore accounts with ties to alleged foreign bank liaisons "blind trust" who helps with these overseas accounts. The American people has to be sure no one can bribe, harass, blackmail, force someone to be a double agent through intimidation, be a radical supremacist for whatever race/ political party, bullied by another foreign/ domestic person or country, aimed against the best interest of U.S.A., our Nation, and the American people. With the recent unfortunate occurrences of domestic terrorism and the alleged sleeper cell terrorist in the U.S.A., its not a far stretch to "Think Outside of the Box" concerning political, limitless mega-cash, Super-Pacs, and rigged elections. Rosalynn Carter said, "A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go but ought to be." I believe the American people should have, "Adequate and Efficient Access" to Romney/ Ryan tax returns to "Make sure there are no questionable illegal problems/ hidden security issues which might affect his or Ryan's political, integrity standards in representing the U.S.A., our Nation, and the American people." From my perspective, this is a NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUE. I believe, President Obama, Congress, the Senate, Eric Holder, Darrell Issa and Homeland Security should develop a policy to close this U.S.A. and International Tax Returns Loop Hole. Furthermore, I think this could cause great security problems in future elections. Abraham Lincoln said, "If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend. Therein is a drop of honey that catches his heart, which, say what you will, is the great high-road to his reason, and which, when once gained, you will find but little trouble in convincing his judgement of the justice of your cause." Rev. Al Sharpton, Thank You. HAVE A WONDERFUL AND BLESSED DAY!!!
JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, JOBS
Mr. Vulture and Mr. Voucher - not going to happen.
Deal with it, Tea Tards!
Because of GW Bush's capital gains loopholes, Romney pays a tax rate that's much lower than what most U.S. wage earners will ever enjoy. Romney represents the 1% at its greedy worst and drooling GOP teatards will still support him because of their delusional stupidity.
Our tax code — and, indeed, our entire economic system — has been gamed to benefit the folks in Romney's economic stratum." Romney merely has contempt for a process that requires someone of his wealth and privilege to show deference to people who have neither.
Romney needs to show that he hasn't been pushing the cost of supporting this country on to MY shoulders but is pulling his OWN weight. That's the least we can expect of a president...that he shares equally in the burden of supporting this country, providing for its fighting forces, and contributing to it's security
So far ONE year of tax returns showing a 14% tax rate, offshore accounts in Cayman Islands and Bermuda and a Swiss bank account....whats he hiding??
Maybe he should be donating to a fund to help the 10s of thousands of middle class workers he threw into the unemployment line.
OXBron, me1234567891 - I appreciate the positive feedback. I try to keep it simple and civil as I've learned those that call names and really have no basis or facts other than what they hear on TV and that concerns me that most Americans take what they hear from the media as facts when they themselves distort the truth as well.
To respond to your comment OXBorn, I do believe the President will, at some point, address the American people about this issue. The problem is those on the right and so called conservative that dislike the president for whatever reason(we know why), will say that this is an excuse and he should have done more to work with the republicans when in fact he's done more AND given up more to the point that his own party was(and some still are) unhappy for giving too much.
What I can't understand for the life of me is that they are so willing and desperate to get him out of office that they will vote for "anyone"(you know what I mean) even when they don't have their best interest at heart (enter Mr. Romney). I pray that most of them wake up and realize that Romney intends to run the country just like he ran Bain Capital and we know how that worked out.......
Bozobama is a sad, bitter failure as a president, and he knows it, so what else can he be but desperate? He certainly can't run on his socialist record.
Hey Paddywack, give a dog a bone. If you're trying to learn about, say, the history of the whig party in England, do you look at the records of the tories? NO! So if you're trying to learn the truths about what the mormons believe, why don't you talk to a mormon who actually believes and practices rather than look at websites dedicated to trying to make people hate mormons?
Half of what you said above is just plain not true, and the other half is distorted. And you're saying that the only reason Christianity isn't a cult is because record keeping wasn't as good 2000 years ago as it is today?
Anyways, if you want to know what it means to be a mormon, why don't you just ask a mormon. Oh, and by the way the majority of mormons are 1st and 2nd generation. Have fun with your fact checking.
most mormans dont even know the history of their church, i had some missionary girls come by my place and wanted to talk to me, well i tried to talk to them also about their churches history and they looked at me like i was crazy, one of the girls thought that slavery didnt end until the 1960's when the church changed it stance on black people being in the churches priesthood, whoa...
anyways, if you ask a mormon you will get an answer straight from Brigham Young university.
Romney,
I think you were looking in a mirror at yourself 3 months ago when you made that statement. Who was the one that ran a primary campaign by attacking down all of his opponents again?
Let those not guilty cast the first stone, Romney ain't that person though neither is Obama.
The guy calling the other guy angry and desperate is the guy who is angry and desperate.
As Ann Coulter said on fox news Romney needs to fire his campaign manager
The etch a sketch comment was 100 % accurate........but not a way to win an election
Geezus get serious, this president has graciously and patiently suffered every indignity and insult the republicans and their Fox network could possibly throw at him since the day he took office and they call him angry and divisive. Ha welcome to Waterloo Mitt. Oh and one more thing Romney, you do know that the general electorate will never give you the keys to the white house if you can't divulge your taxes.
Forrest - Just what will the tax returns prove to anyone? How many people would even be able to read them? All the lefts bitching about tax returns is nothing but deflection from Obama's failure. I am more interested in leadership qualities than tax returns. Obama has shown me and the majority of Americans that he does not have leadership abilities. A leader takes responsibility for what ever takes place on his watch, he does not play the blame game, whine and complain. He would not even make a good corporal in the Army or Marines.
Gee the left's collapse committee has been here. So I will post it again.

Appears the left can't handle the truth.
I think Romney must have gotten a hit of the bad acid; how else could he be saying all these preposterous lies (especially when, in truth, most of them apply to him)?
Yeah, its too bad killing Osama Bin Laden was such a failure.
I am starting to think sfcret got hit in the head.
Well, let's just let Mitt Romney's father answer that one. There is no legal requirement for a presidential candidate to disclose his tax forms. It has become a tradition, a tradition that was started by none other than Mitt Romney's father, George Romney, during his runup to presidential candidate in the 1968 election.
This was detailed by George Romney's biographer, T. George Harris:
"He balked when I badgered him for a copy of his latest Form 1040, the Federal Individual Income Tax Return," Harris wrote. "Release of the document, while it might serve a political purpose, would not prove very much, he argued. One year could be a fluke, perhaps done for show, and what mattered in personal finance was how a man conducted himself over the long haul."
"Stumped by this argument, I was not prepared for the move that it eventually led him to make: He ordered up all the Form 1040's that he and Mrs. Romney had filed over the past twelve years —
Great post: Mitt's own father provided the reason Mitt picked just one year's returns...............all for show and not for truth. Mitt (i have a plan) Romney.....................that's a secret plan BTW but whatever it is it is not anything he did in MA because that was good for MA but not for the country
Yes- Nice post True Patriot. I am finally glad to see a post from the Left with substance. As I read line by line you listed many items that i would not agree with...but those are just different of opinions and why you have elections.
That said you did not list anything about Economy and Jobs ....WHICH IS WHAT THIS ELECTION IS ALL ABOUT......He fails across the board in this area. He has not put through a budget once in 3-1/2 years because he does not want to offend his base. He has increased the deficit exponentially more than any other President..(which he said he would cut in half)...He has no plans to cut because he is afraid to lose votes. He is a horrible leader in comparison to Bill Clinton. These reasons alone I will not vote for Obama again. They trump your list 10 fold.. I am not being sarcastic and mean spirited.. I do like your list and wish i saw more substance like your post.
mike-Pa
Guess what. The Republicans have NO plans to cut the DEFICIT. In fact, it is documented that the Ryan plan will increase the deficit for the next THIRTY years, Republicans want to give the richest 1% another $330,000 average TAX CUT, while INCREASING taxes on the middle class by $2,000 a year. Now for the rich, that means $330.000 MORE to be shipped overseas. For the middle class increase of $2,000 that means bankruptcy, no clothes for the kids, less food on the table, unless they can go to a food bank. for elderly it means no money for heat, electricity, medicine. But, of course that is the Republican plan to save Social Security. Just hurry up and die already.
Mike,
You are right (sort of), this election is about the economy and jobs. It's about the FACT that American corporations are making record profits and still not hiring. And that is the President's fault? Seriously?
If you knew anything you would know that the President is legally obligated to submit am annual budget proposal, which he has done. It is the job of Congress to ratify the proposal and submit it to the President for his signature. So, put the blame where it belongs, on Congress.
The President and the Speaker of the House negotiated what has been termed "the grand compromise" that would have provided a balanced approach of increased revenues and spending cuts, one dollar of revenue for each 4 dollars in cuts. The result? When The Speaker took it back to the Tea Party controlled Republican Caucus, they said "no way". Again, put the blame where it belongs, on Congress.
Educate yourself on how your government really works.
Wouldn't it be brilliant strategy to let democrats harp on and on about the taxes and pass over all the other pitfalls of Romney/Ryan and then finally show them without there being anything in them. Democrats will have wasted months focusing on a dumb issue. Really there are so many other worrisome things about Romney. If we were going to have a Rich Mormon Middle-of-the Roader be the Republican candidate Huntsman would have been better.
Mike076,amazingly you get what you deserve. Obama is not an American citizen and he is a muslim hiding in the closet for islam. I give the Obama lovers the same thing they demand of Romney, show a original birth certificate, show his tax returns for the last ten years and and allow his college transcripts to be open for the public, what doe she have to hide if he is indeed telling the truth, say that while he believes that every American has freedom to worship whatever he wants, but he needs to publicly say that he is a Christian and has excepted Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Messiah as his personal Lord and Saviour. He cannot do that, because in his muslim religion if he did he would be have a price put on his head by the muslim. Islam says you can pretty much do and say anything to further the cause of islam, but I am pretty sure this would cross the line. You cannot just say you believe in Jesus because even satan believes in Jesus. I would not vote for a athiest but they get my respect for voicing their belief and not for being a hipporcrit, you cannot be a Christian and support and condone homosexuality and the murdering of babies. If you support these things and say you are a Christian you are a liar and the father of lies is your god.
Mike076...You may be right about the budget proposal. I guess you dont break any laws by not submitting one. It would be nice if our President would show a little Leadership and propose one. He didnt have to always deal with BOENNER. Remember he had everything he wanted in Congress his first two years, until he loss so massively in a referendum on what a terrible job he has done up to that point up to that point. Companies such as Power Plants have so much profits and money because our Great President will not adress energy unless it is Green. The reasons why there is so much money tied up in the Plants is because they do not know what restrictions in air quality willbe put forth. There fore an Energy Plant will not start a project only to be canceled or shut down due to the Restrictions. This I know because I am an unemployed Insulator out of Local 2 in Western Pa. I am a card carrying Democrat who will not be fooled by this piece of garbage again. Neither will be a lot of my Union Brothers.
So how do you think the budget got passed before Boehner?
The President has shown plenty of leadership on a host of areas. Just because you don't want to follow him doesn't make him not a leader.
Hawaii was a state for two years before Obama was born. That makes him a natural born citizen.
Obama has supplied at least seven years of tax records.Obama graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School. You think Harvard is lying?
The tax returns will show whether Romney was still at Bain Capital when he said he wasn't. There are Tax experts waiting to examine the records. If he is clean that will show and you'll have the extra benefit of getting Harry Reid out of office.
Obama should not take blame for the mess that he was handed by the incompetence of the Bush Administration Budget and non domestic policies.
So your assumptions are the priority item? If you vouch for Romney we are just supposed to stop pressing for the tax papers. A bit grandiose are we?
Yes, but looking at the neocon former Bush team lineup that Romney has assembled how do you think that they will do any better this time around than they did the last time around? Especially when they are advocating the same policies as they did during the Bush Administration.
So you would bring the same team in advocating he same policies that brought this country to it's knees? And that's progress?
You can assume all you want, but Harvard doe not accept "d" and "f" students. Harvard like Stanford out here turns away straight "a" students. You do not get into Harvard Law with "d" and "f" grades. This makes me question your claim of being a college graduate. I repeat Harvard has validated the fact that he graduated Magna Cum Laude. It is impossible to be Magna (3.5 GPA) getting "f's".
Byron.... You are 100 per cent wrong. You are only a leader if you are followed. President Clinton was a leader. He figured out how to make it work. This President is a finger pointer , liar, and the most Racist President I will ever see........He is no Leader.... If he was ....Both sides of the Aisle would follow. When you are as Racist and Divisive as this President ...who wants to follow. Because there is nothing to follow. His campaign is garbage(no record as well). Biden was unbelievable yesterday. How insulting to the Black Community. If you were not the least bit insulted yesterday....Then you can have Uncle Joe....He is a disgrace. IT IS TIME TO GET RID OF FLIP WILSON ..AND AL JOLSEN OUT OF OFFICE!
Yeah, and we all know the almight bho would NEVER lie! Especially when: writing books, delivering speeches, assuring putin's crew that he'll have more "flexibility" after the upcoming election, attending the church of his choice for the better part of twenty years that is led by a virulent anti-American, being mentored by known terrorists (Ayers), claiming no knowledge about his vacated Senate seat being sold to the highest bidder (Chicago at it's finest...), the substance of his senior thesis (which is extremely racist in nature), explaining how he was able to afford to attend not one but two Ivy League institutions (which was running at ~40k/year in 1986 when I was attending Dartmouth...), and the list could literally go on for pages. All of you silly liberals who fawn at the very idea of seeing this fool in action are laughable! I think he should get another Nobel Peace Prize for his actions in Syria...oh wait...nevermind, he should get it anyway...Have a great day you silly, silly liberals!
Lying like a rug or a bad toupee in a high wind. Oops, my bad, that's the Donald (yeah, yeah I know it's really his hair.)
Romney sounds exhausted, out of ideas & unhinged. he is projecting. He resorts to lie after lie, all easily debunked, instead of showing us a real plan of his own or any real ideas except more tax cuts that benefit only those like himself, more wars to pander to the profiteers, and a desire to turn the US into the fascist utopia that the Koch Brothers & their ilk have been pushing for for decades. NO taxes for the rich, no responsibilities to the society that allowed them to prosper, undo the New Deal.... carry out the Putsch of 1933and take us back a couple of centuries.
Romney is realizing he has demoted himself to a puppet with working digits to sign his VP's plan. He's depressed, not exhausted. He thought he would be the top of the ticket and calling the shots as he is accustomed to. Not so, he must answer to the rabid rightwing.
AND he must release his tax returns and lose, or not release his tax returns and lose.
Mitt HAS a plan............He says so! It is just secret and you must vote him in as President to hear the secret plan.
Mitt (I really don't have a clue) dribble down multi-millionaire, vouchers are good for you (and for my insurance friends) Romney.
Isn't this akin to your hero pelosi's statement, "We have to pass this bill to find out what exactly is in it!"? Oh wait, I guess since a liberal democrat said it, then it's okay...lol.
Reverend Wright is not "virulently Anti American". The misquoted statement is given in many African American churches so we must all be anti American. It is a lament of the difficulties of being an African in America. Many times we go home to say "goddamn America" after another day of being harassed by police, followed through stores, being called vile epitaphs by strangers, and sometimes being confronted by people with violent intentions
Ayers was a college professor when Obama met him professionally
and I was at Cal during those days. Ayers was head of the Students for a Democratic Society. this was a non violent group which saw the repression of the African American community in the Oakland/Berkeley area by stormtrooper/gestapo polices departments of those cities. They organized non violent protests against the inhuman treatment of he African American citizens and other progressive issues. During this time Ronald Wilson Reagan was doing his best impression of Augusto Pinochet sicking the California National Guard on them who were shooting live rounds on the University campus. I was there and getting shot at too. It was the unrestrained violence unleashed upon them by Reagan, and his henchman Ed Meese (the Alameda County District Attorney at the time, with the approval of the idiot University Regent S.I. Hayakawa which made some members decide to fight fire with fire. They form the Weathermen and later the Weather Underground. Lay the blame for the violence at the feet of the instigator, Ronald (Agusto Pinochet) Reagan.
Why should Obama know what is going on in Illinois ? He was in Washington D.C. Has there been a Grand Jury indictment I missed? Congressional hearings?
Ever hear of Financial aid? In his speech a couple of weeks ago he talked about the fact that he just paid off his loans within the last few years. This has to change. College students should not be burdened with thousands of debt as they walk out of the door of colleges.
As far as Obama's senior thesis your post is a prevarication.
Here is an article from that very left wing newsletter The American Thinker which refutes your claim
Angry and desperate? President Obama has a massive lead in the Electoral College and every single pollster shows him winning the election. All but one show Obama winning the popular vote and even Rasmussen shows him winning the Electoral College (the only data that actually matters.)
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/archive/2012_electoral_college_scoreboard
All he needs is 2 sates out of the 6 or 7 swing states. Romney needs Almost 70 electoral votes that are up for grabs and there's only 85. Looks like in the next few weeks somebody else is going to be the desperate one.
The President is desperate to get Willard and Ann to STFU and angry because he's going to have to listen to their projecting,lying,kvitching,flip-flopping,and whining until November.
Virginiademocrat, I believe that this is a lie but if not America is lost. ANYONE BUT OBAMA AND BIDEN.
Bring on the debates!!!!!
....
Romney /Ryan want to make a fortune 500 hundred from our SS..now what did he say?
But i cannot say. To me, since st paul joining the romney man ticket, it has been the most fun i have had in years. It is soooo much fun because they are soooo many angles of attack. For instance, st paul isn't what he says he is. I tell you this country has been based upon the govt & the constitution and not on nature and the creator. And when was the last time has anybody, anybody in the mr grover, gop, & rushbo camp said the world nature. I have never heard the word nature roll off their lips. Never. I tell you st paul is a joke and time, a few weeks, will show that i am telling you the truth. Shades of sarah.
Sorry Mittens but you are curtains. You are not running on any policy other than to bash the current POTUS. Americans see right through that. No substance, no presidency.
Car, that lack of respect all by itself should be the only thing a voter needs to see. Signing oaths, constant hate shows everyone what the agenda is and it isn't you and I. This is really the lowest campaign I can remember. But, we all know the presidents office is not the only candidate up for election and it takes the others to accomplish anything. So pass the message that taking an oath against the constitution is a treasonous offense and only highlights the agenda the GOP is on. The good ones are resigning and that also is a hint.
Anyone else getting tired of Romney whining? I want an apology....boo whoo
They are desperate...booo whooooo
Damn that guy is a whiner
Obama 2012!!!
Palin did a lot of that too..
Let's hear another STUPID COMMERCIAL about President Obama not having a birth certificate!!! The GOP Republicans slap themselves in the face for not respecting "Their OWN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES"!
Let's hear it for the GOP Republicans that don't respect "THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES"!.. Yes, I hear you whining and bad mouthing everything about our President of the United States!! If you respect anything,..! Shut your stupid Republican mouth and listen to "OUR" President of the United States without calling him merely, OBAMA..
YOUR DISRESPECT IS ONLY TOPPED BY YOUR ARROGANCE!!!
advesimpson; You cannot lie to gain respect, you have to earn it, Obama has not. And your respect in only topped bt your ignorance.
I respect Obama. He sure can do a better job than I could or any of you for that matter. He has good charisma and he is smart. Mixed with a general dissatisfaction for the Bush presidency it won him the 2008 election. I respect him for being a very hard worker, though I disagree with most of what he is working for.
I respect Romney a lot more. He actually has ethics and ideals he lives up to. It's not all about him like it is with Obama. He is not only smart, but he is wise. He wants to see America succeed. Obama just wants America to become dependent on him and write a special place for him in the history books.
Romney (Captain Douche Nozzle) is trying to just throw any accusation or aspersion out there and make it stick.
The GOP party of "No"!! has been intransigent, belligerent, obstructionists during the entire Obama administration as he has tried to have a civil conversation.
The Norquist republicans are so desperate that they are digging their heels in,...and holding their breath through an entire administration - doing nothing - stopping everything - risking sending the U.S. over a fiscal cliff - kicking - screaming to "get their way.
"Waaaah",...
But then,...I have noticed that it has been a standard tactic of the GOP propaganda machine to accuse the democratic party of being what they (the GOP) are most frequently characterized as,....whether it is "elitist",.."out-of-touch",....or now "angry".
I would think that everyone has become aware of this campaign/marketing/propaganda tactic and are becoming immune to it.
Today's GOP are uniquely un-American.
99% unite.
Vote for "We the people". Vote Obama/Biden 2012.
And vote out Republicans across the board. It is especially important to boot the Tea Partiers, current and aspiring, at the state level where they are inflicting the same ALEC agenda wherever they get a toehold.
I'm a Romney supporter
I complain that the $1.3 trillion deficit Obama inherited is only at $1.1 trillion, not fast enough, a $1.3 trillion deficit should be easy to balance......even though no GOP president in the history of the US has very tried to balance a budget.....let alone a $1.3 trillion deficit.
And I don't care that Romney's plan will add $500 billion in year 2 of a Romney election.
I only want to blame Obama.
And I love Mormons.......I'm a devout Christian and Mormons make my people cringe with fear and terror..........but for one day in November I'll put those deep rooted beliefs asside.
I'm a Romney supporter
Of course you're a Romney supporter. You sound just as crazy as he does.
I know, I feel sorry for Gov. Romney--how dare people tell the truth about him! Have they no shame?
Common Sense - If Romney was elected this is what the government would look like
Before I ad this list - I ask you what religion would allow you to lie about pro-choice versus pro-life just to win an election? An agenda?
And
if Romney wins the White House, not only will the United States have its first
Mormon president but a number of prominent Mormon Republicans might be selected
for plum administration positions.
“I wouldn’t be surprised, especially in
a Republican administration, to see members of my faith well represented,” Sen.
Mike Lee (R-Utah), a rising Tea Party star who is Mormon, told The Hill.
“I don’t think that Mormons will be
necessarily any more or any less represented in a Romney administration than
they would in others…. But sometimes people tend to hire other people that they
know, that they’ve worked with in the past.”
There are currently 14 Mormons in
Congress: Sens. Reid, Hatch, Heller, Lee, Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Tom Udall
(D-N.M.), and Reps. Buck McKeon (R-Calif.), Wally Herger (R-Calif.), Raul
Labrador (R-Idaho), Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), Rob Bishop (R-Utah), Jim Matheson
(D-Utah) and Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah).
Those numbers are likely to grow some
in the fall.
Flake, who traveled with Romney during
the Iowa caucuses, is the frontrunner in both his primary and general election,
though another Mormon, businessman Wil Cardon (R), is giving him headaches in
the primary. Heller is locked in a tight race with Rep. Shelley Berkley
(D-Nev.).
Flake’s old House seat will be filled
by a Mormon, either former Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.) or former Arizona House
Speaker Kirk Adams (R). Chris Stewart, a Mormon Republican, is considered a
lock for a newly-created House seat in Utah. Mia Love, the African-American
mayor of a small Utah town and a highly touted recruit running against
Matheson, is also Mormon.
On top of that, if Romney wins the
presidency there are a number of Mormon Republicans who are in line to gain
political power.
Chief among them is former Utah
governor and Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt (R), a close
Romney ally who has been tapped to head Romney’s transition team. He has been
mentioned as a possible White House chief of staff.
A number of prominent Mormons have been
major Romney donors — the types of people who often wind up getting offered
ambassadorships.
These include Bill Marriott, a longtime
family friend of Romney’s, and Kevin Rollins, a former partner of Romney’s at Bain
& Company. JetBlue founder David Neeleman and Credit Suisse banking
division CEO Eric Varvel, both Mormons, are on Romney’s finance team.
“A lot of these folks are very dear
friends of his — they’ve known each other for decades now,” Hatch said. “I know
every one of them and I don’t know of one of them that wants anything from
their donations.”
But Hatch, who was an early Romney
backer in 2008 and received Romney’s support in his contested Senate primary
this year, said there was a natural tendency for anyone to bring along people
they know and trust.
“Let’s face it, you do tend to want to
bring some people with you that you know very well, that’s just a natural
thing. I don’t care who it is, people all feel the same way,” Sen. Hatch said.
“Should Romney win and bring some of
his people into the government, there will be a lot of people who are devout
Mormons in positions of power,” said Paul Hatch, a longtime Republican
strategist who grew up Mormon in Utah.
“As far as ambassadorships, Romney
really does have a very strong donor base among Mormons that he’s cultivated
since he ran in 1994 against Ted Kennedy for Senate.”
President Obama has appointed Mormons
to serve in his administration, including former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr.
(R), who served as his ambassador to China. He also tapped Larry Echo Hawk, a
former assistant secretary of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Sen. Mike Lee noted that President
Reagan named a number of Mormons to top positions, including Lee’s father, Rex,
who was Reagan’s first solicitor general.
“While he was there he happened to hire
one or two people who happened to be members of the Mormon faith, but that was
not a conscious decision of ‘I’ve got to get more Mormons here,’ ” he said.
One of them was Terry Crapo, the
brother of Sen. Crapo, who Rex Lee picked to be his deputy but died of leukemia
before he could take the job.
“They had gone to [Brigham Young
University] together,” Sen. Lee said. “It wasn’t about Mormonism — he was just
one of the people he knew, an exceptionally bright lawyer.”
Paul Hatch, who ran Leavitt’s
gubernatorial campaign and is now a consultant for Love’s campaign, said that
devout Mormons tended to spend more time involved in church activities than
those in other religions. He cited the church’s policy of having lay clergymen
rather than full-time ministers as a reason.
“For a lot of people the Mormon Church
becomes the center of their life. It’s more than going to Temple on Saturday or
Mass on Sunday for an hour. People’s social circles are centered on their
religious experience, particularly in Utah,” Paul Hatch said.
While Romney had a highly active life
outside the church, he had also been heavily involved in its operations in
Massachusetts, he added.
If you think the Mormon side is going to grow, you've got the same problem you've had since long before I heard about your comments.
America is as much about "No Religion" as it is about "Religion"..
One thing America is not about, is, "Your Religion!"..
Especially if you're filthy rich and you haven't done anything for OTHERS!! AND THAT'S COMPARATIVELY!!
Romney ain't about others and he ain't about working America. He's about making the rich, richer. And fooling everyone else!
Really still with the taxes would you want to elect a street bum without a dime to dig us out this mess? Maybe if Obama would turn over the long form of his birth cert Romney would turn over some more tax returns.
The birth issue has been put to bed, kinda pathetic to keep it up. Mitt Romney has a very different reason for not handing over his tax returns, voter fraud.
So you see, if Mitt Romney releases his tax returns, he'll be admitting to committing voter fraud.
and Obama should be locked up for check fraud for writing checks he can not cover. Bottom line Obama lacks leadership, a budget, and has taken Jimmy Carters title of worse president ever.
TDB Nov. 6,2012
Jeff,
So I noticed that instead of addressing what Mitt Romney did, you decided just to spout off some random talking point.
Should Mitt Romney be held accountable for committing voter fraud or not? I hear Republicans talking every day about just how serious a crime voter fraud is.
As for November 6th of this year, it'll be one day you'll want to forget. Every single pollster shows Barack Obama winning the Electoral College (the sole means by which we elect presidents.)
From what I read most of Rooney's primary opponents in this election cycle as well as him his 2008 run for the nomination developed a real dis-like for the guy. This is easy to understand. Romney is a whiner -- a cry-baby. He tells people what they want to hear, not what he believes. He has no core, no backbone. His message changes constantly. He's for or against any issue depending on who he's talking to at the time. I disagreed with George W. Bush but at least you know who he was and what he believed. With Romney -- you never know what he believes about anything at any time because it's constantly changing. Bottom line -- he's a dishonest scumbag.
and has taken Jimmy Carters title of worse president ever.
Great post Charlie. No greater truth has ever been spoken.
See, MItty here is the thing: it really isn't going to get you elected dog catcher, much less President of the United States if you don't quit calling the current President names and start acting like you have a real reason to run. Wanting to pose on the balcony is not a reason.
So instead of saying things like you will tell us your intentions when someone (God forbid) elects you, why don't you try doing that now.
Wait. I guess we already know. The Ryan "budget". The one that robs the poor and middle class to give more bling to your buddies.
Let's start with your taxes. Going back as many years as you gave McCain. We can see EXACTLY how much more money you will make off the backs of the poor with the Ryan plan. After all, Queen Ann says she wants to have her "therapy horse" bred, and those stud fees come dear.
And we see what happened to Romney AFTER he gave McCain those tax returns. The Repubs dropped him
and picked Palin! Holy crap! What kind of an endorsement is that?
Wow, Mitt...as opposed to you pandering to anybody and everybody? Do you ever stop and think about what you are about to say before you utter something so undeniably stupid?
That "etch-a-sketch" label you so richly deserve really doesn't begin to cover your butt Mitt...and Ryan won't be able to fix that for you.
Is Romney for real? This crying he is doing is just unreal. Man, someone pass the dude a tissue
I think a crying towel is required at this point, dal.
romneys the liar that feeling angry & pressure, show us your taxs, stop outsourcing jobs, stop giving tazx breaks to billionares, president obama 2012 !!!!!!!
I have to share some advice for Republicans that my mom used to tell me. When you dig a grave for someone be prepared to dig one for yourself.
No truer words were ever spoken!!
I just hope the GOP isn't digging me a grave for 20 years down the line. They're idiots! Go Obama!! 2012!!
Look I have more respect for a man who comes up with a good defense rather than bawling his eyes out. Romney is like the kid picked last on the team who leaves pouting and kicking the dirt
Here are 56 things Republicans have had to say about Mitt Romney.
1. “If you have things to hide, then maybe you’re doing things wrong. I think you ought to be willing to release everything to the American people.“
~Alabama Governor Robert Bentley, calling for Romney to release more years of tax returns, AP, July 14, 2012
2. “Now Mitt is not a perfect candidate. He has a number of problems. It’s hard for him, for blue collar families like mine to identify with him. It’s hard for economic conservatives to identify with him. He needs to do more to reach out to Latinos…”
~Former Republican NY Governor George Pataki, “endorsing” Romney and then telling the world how weak he is as a candidate, MSNBC, April 2012
3. “They (voters) want to know what’s the truth. They’re not interested in a chameleon.”
~Michele Bachmann, criticizing Mitt Romney’s flip flopping, speech in Florida, December 2011
4. “Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes. It’s almost like an Etch-A-Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all over again. But I will say, if you look at the exit polling data in Illinois, you’ll see that Mitt Romney is broadly acceptable to most of the factions in the party. You have to do that in order to become the nominee…”
~Romney Communications Director Eric Fehrnstrom, describing his boss as a man who can’t make up his mind, CNN, March 21, 2012
5. “There are a lot of other people out there that some of us wish had run for President, but they didn’t. I think Mitt Romney would be a fine President, and he’d be way better than the guy who’s there right now.”
~Republican Senator Marco Rubio, wishing there were another candidate to pick from, The Daily Caller, March 2012
6. “He’s not a bold decision maker like Newt Gingrich is. Every time I talk to him, he says ‘well let me think about it.’”
~Romney supporter Sheldon Adelson, describing his new favorite Presidential candidate as a weak man who can’t make decisions, Jewish Journal, March 28, 2012
7. “I do know that all of the Michigan delegation worked very hard as related to the revival of the auto industry. There was really a choice between bankruptcy and liquidation. There was no one that was willing to come up not only with the cash to keep them afloat but also to serve the warranties of everyone, you and I that drive all these cars. There was no one that could have picked up those pieces other than the federal government. [The auto bailout was] bipartisan from the get-go. [Without it,] Michigan would have hit 40 percent unemployment rates.”
~Republican Michigan Rep. Fred Upton, endorsing Romney and then disagreeing with him about the auto bailout which has been a major Romney attack point, WMUK Radio, February 2012
8. “Mitt Romney and I don’t agree on every issue and certainly housing is one of them. When you look at what is going on here in Southern Nevada, you can’t say you got to let the housing market hit bottom. We have been bouncing along the bottom for years. And the fact is we have to do everything possible to: 1) keep people in their homes and 2) get people who are out of their homes back into their homes.”
~Republican Nevada Rep. Joe Heck, endorsing Romney, then distancing himself from Romney’s call to let home foreclosures hit the bottom, Las Vegas Sun, February 2012
9. “Santorum connects with some people. Unfortunately, my guy has a hard time doing that.”
~Former AZ Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen, endorsing Romney and then tearing him down, CNN, February 2012.
10. “Gone are the days when the Republican Party used to put forward big bold visionary stuff…We’re gonna have problems politically until we get some sort of third party movement or some alternate voice out there that can put forward new ideas.”
~Jon Huntsman, saying that we need a third party not long after endorsing Romney. Also implying that Romney is not bold, nor a visionary leader, “Morning Joe,” MSNBC, February 2012
11. “He may not be Mr. Personality, uh, you know, this is a guy who gives a fireside chat and the fire goes out.”
~Former GOP Virginia Rep. Tom Davis, endorsing Romney and then announcing how bland and boring Mitt is, News Channel 8 interview, March 2012
12. “Self-deport? What the heck does that mean? I have no doubt Hispanics have been alienated during this campaign. But now there’s an opportunity for Gov. Romney to have a sincere conversation about what we can do and why. I absolutely advocate for comprehensive immigration reform. Republicans want to be tough and say, ‘Illegals, you’re gone.’ But the answer is a lot more complex than that.”
~New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez, slamming Romney’s stance on immigration, Newsweek, May 2012
13. “Pick any other Republican in the country. He is the worst Republican in
the country to put up against Barack Obama.”
~Rick Santorum, calling Mitt Romney the worse Republican anyone can possibly pick to be the nominee, Racine, Wisconsin, March 2012
14. “He should release the tax returns tomorrow. It’s crazy. You’ve got to release six, eight, ten years back tax returns. Take the hit for a day or two. He has to give a big speech in defense of capitalism, and that will elevate, I think, this race above this tactical back and forth, which I do think he’s on the margin of losing.”
~Bill Kristol, criticizing Romney’s refusal to release tax returns on Fox News, July 15, 2012
15. “He glosses over and doesn’t even tell the truth. … Here is a guy who is the ultimate flip-flopper running for president, and he’s attacking me for not being principled? That doesn’t wash.”
~Rick Santorum, campaign event in Tennessee, February 2012
16. “Mitt Romney’s losing at this point in a big way. If something’s going to come out, get it out in a hurry. I do not know why — given that Mr. Romney knew the day that [Sen. John] McCain lost in 2008 that he was going to run for president again — that he didn’t get all of this out and tidy up some of his offshore accounts and all the rest.”
~George Will, criticizing Romney for not releasing more tax returns, ABC, July 15, 2012

17. “One of Governor Romney’s aides today on television said that Governor Romney, after he wins the primaries, will be like an [Etch A Sketch] — you take whatever he said and you can shake it up and it will be gone, and he’s going to draw a whole new picture for the general election.”
~Rick Santorum, Harvey, Louisiana, March 2012
18. “I do not yet know if I will find a Romney presidency more acceptable on foreign policy. But I do know that I must oppose the most recent statements made by Mitt Romney in which he says he, as president, could take us to war unilaterally with Iran, without any approval from Congress.”
~Rand Paul, National Review, June 2012
19. “We can’t nominate such a weak candidate. I’d love to be able to get one-on-one with Gov. Romney and expose the record that would be the weakest record we could possibly put up against Barack Obama.”
~Rick Santorum, ABC, March 2012
20. “Gov. Romney has claimed to have created 100,000 jobs at Bain and people are wanting to know, is there proof of that claim? And was it U.S. jobs created for United States citizens?”
~Sarah Palin, Hannity, January 2012
21. “I heard Governor Romney here called me an economic lightweight because I wasn’t a Wall Street financier like he was. Do you really believe this country wants to elect a Wall Street financier as the president of the United States? Do you think that’s the experience that we need? Someone who’s going to take and look after as he did his friends on Wall Street and bail them out at the expense of Main Street America.”
~Rick Santorum, Rockford, Illinois, March 2012
22. “I don’t know who all of his advisers are, but I’ve seen some of the names and some of them are quite far to the right. And sometimes they might be in a position to make judgments or recommendations to the candidate that should get a second thought.”
~Colin Powell, MSNBC, May 2012
23. “Running a business is not the same as being president of the United States.”
~Rick Santorum, CNN, March 2012
24. “If you’re not sure about whether to support Mitt Romney, whether you’re liberal, or whether you’re very conservative, you ought to be excited, because he’s been on your side at one time or another. So I’m not completely misunderstood. I’m not as excited as I am desperate.”
~Louie Gohmert, Republican conference, April 2012
25. “Governor Romney supported the bailout of Wall Street and decided not to support the bailout of Detroit.”
~Rick Santorum, Detroit, Michigan, February 2012
26. “At some point he has to show that he has a vision of a better way. He can’t just say ‘The future is bleak, follow me.’ Because no one will.”
~Republican strategist Mark McKinnon, according to Politico
27. “This is the free enterprise system. The only place in the world that I can recall where companies never failed was the old Soviet Union. This is what investors do in the free enterprise and capitalism system. And, yes, the free enterprise system can be cruel. But the problem with this administration is that small businesses have been the ones that have suffered the most, the kind that need investors, the kind that don’t need the hundreds of pages, the thousands of pages of regulations that continue to plague them and have them continue to hold back on hiring and investment.”
~John McCain, calling Romney’s tenure at Bain ‘cruel,’ Fox News, May 2012
28. “He changed his position on virtually everything. I’m a moderate Republican, that’s what I am, so I’d be inclined to support someone like Mitt Romney. But all those changes give me pause.”
~Rudy Giuliani, February 2012
29. “If Mitt Romney can be pushed around, intimidated, coerced, co-opted by a conservative radio talk show host in Middle America, then how is he going to stand up to the Chinese? How is he going to stand up to Putin? How is he going to stand up to North Korea if he can be pushed around by a yokel like me? I don’t think Romney is realizing the doubts that this begins to raise about his leadership.”
~American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer during his radio program, May 2012
30. “I’ve never seen a guy change his position so many times, so fast, on a dime.”
~Rudy Giuliani, MSNBC, December 2011
31. “We’re not going to beat Barack Obama with some guy who has Swiss bank accounts, Cayman Island accounts, owns shares of Goldman Sachs while it forecloses on Florida and is himself a stockholder in Freddie Mae and Freddie Mac while he tries to think the rest of us are too stupid to put the dots together to understand what this is all about.”
~Newt Gingrich, Mt. Dora, Florida. January 26, 2012
32. “Don’t just talk about Hispanics and say immediately we must have controlled borders. It’s kind of insulting when you think about it. Change the tone would be the first thing. Second, on immigration, I think we need to have a broader approach.”
~Jeb Bush, criticizing Romney’s stance on immigration and his attitude toward Hispanics, Q&A session, June 2012
33. “[Mitt Romney is a] Massachusetts moderate who, in fact, is pretty good at managing the decay.” He’s “given no evidence in his years in Massachusetts of any ability to change the culture or change the political structure.”
~Newt Gingrich, Des Moines, Iowa, January 4, 2012
34. “You can talk about the other back and forth, and flip-flopping and the other things. … If you’ve wrapped yourself up in too many pledges, that diminishes your ability to do what needs to be done in the final stretch to some extent.”
~Jon Huntsman, MSNBC, April 2012
35. “You can’t be a perfectly lubricated weather vane on the important issues of the day, whether it’s Libya, whether it’s the debt ceiling, whether it’s the discussion around the Kasich bill in Ohio, where Gov. Romney has been missing in action in terms of showing any kind of leadership.”
~Jon Huntsman, CNN, October 2011
36. “Can we drop a little bit of the pious baloney? The fact is, you ran in ’94 and lost. That’s why you weren’t serving in the Senate with Rick Santorum. The fact is, you had a very bad re-election rating, you dropped out of office, you had been out of state for something like 200 days preparing to run for president. You didn’t have this interlude of citizenship while you thought about what you do. You were running for president while you were governor.”
~Newt Gingrich, NBC News/ Facebook debate, January 8, 2012
37. “I would just have a different policy than what he has espoused… We need to recognize we are not going to deport 12 million people, and … we shouldn’t.”
~Haley Barbour, criticizing Romney’s ‘self-deportation’ immigration stance, Christian Science Monitor breakfast, June 2012
38. “Now you have to ask a question – is that really, is capitalism really about the ability of a handful of rich people to manipulate the lives of thousands of other people and walk off with the money? Or is that in fact somehow a little bit of a flawed system? And so I do draw distinction between looting a company, leaving behind broken families and broken neighborhoods and then leaving a factory that should be there.”
~Newt Gingrich, Manchester, NH, January 9, 2012
39. “Maybe Governor Romney in the spirit of openness should tell us how much money he’s made off of how many households that have been foreclosed by his investments.”
~Newt Gingrich, CNN debate, January 26, 2012
40. “Clearly while the president is overseas, he’s at a conference and while the president is overseas I think it’s appropriate that people not be critical of him or our country.”
~John Boehner, in response to a question by NBC News on whether Mitt Romney’s criticism of President Obama is inappropriate since Obama was in Russia at the time, March 2012
41. “Now, for Romney to believe that somebody’s grandmother is going to be so cut off she is going to self deport… He certainly shows no concern for the humanity of people who are already here… I think you have to live in worlds of Swiss bank accounts and Cayman Island accounts and automatic $20 million a year income with no work to have some fantasy this far from reality.”
~Newt Gingrich, Univision, January 25, 2012
42. “This is a man whose staff created the PAC, his millionaire friends fund the PAC, he pretends he has nothing to do with the PAC – it’s baloney. He’s not telling the American people the truth… I just think he ought to be honest with the American people and try to win as the real Mitt Romney, not try to invent a poll-driven, consultant-guided version that goes around with talking points, and I think he ought to be candid. I don’t think he’s being candid and that will be a major issue. From here on out from the rest of this campaign, the country has to decide: Do you really want a Massachusetts moderate who won’t level with you to run against Barack Obama who, frankly, will just tear him apart? He will not survive against the Obama machine.”
~Newt Gingrich, CBS’ “The Early Show,” January 3, 2012
43. “Those of us who believe in free markets and those of us who believe that in fact the whole goal of investment is entrepreneurship and job creation, we find it pretty hard to justify rich people figuring out clever legal ways to loot a company, leaving behind 1,700 families without a job.” ~Newt Gingrich, January 8, 2012
44. “Now I have no doubt that Mitt Romney was worried about pink slips — whether he was going to have enough of them to hand out because his company Bain Capital with all the jobs that they killed, I’m sure he was worried that he’d run out of pink slips. There is something inherently wrong when getting rich off failure and sticking it to someone else is how you do your business and I happen to think that’s indefensible. If you’re a victim of Bain Capital’s downsizing, it’s the ultimate insult for Mitt Romney to come to South Carolina and tell you he feels your pain, because he caused it.”
~Rick Perry, South Carolina, January 9, 2012
45. ” I think it’s that program, just updated.”
~RNC spokesman Alexandra Franceschi, admitting that Romney’s economic plan is the Bush plan on steroids, The Fernando Espuelas Show, April 2012
46. “There’s a real difference between venture capitalism and vulture capitalism. Venture capitalism we like. Vulture capitalism, no. And the fact of the matter is that he’s going to have to face up to this at some time or another, and South Carolina is as good a place to draw that line in the sand as any. That’s not what we’re looking for in a president of the United States. We’re looking for someone that knows how to build jobs, create jobs. And that’s what I’ve done in the state of Texas. So there’s no use trying to paper this over. That is a problem for Mitt, and he’s going to have to face it.”
~Rick Perry, Hannity, January 2012
47. “I think that it has to be a very humane approach to this issue, and we have to come up with solutions to it. But we also have to do something about the drugs that are coming across our southern border that are killing our kids… I think there are some people who want to leave this country and return to the country they came from, but obviously it requires a broader solution that that, and we all know that.”
~John McCain, slamming Romney’s ‘self deportation’ immigration plan as an inhumane idea, Univision, February 2012
48. “I know the difference between venture capital[ism] and vulture capitalism. Venture capitalism is a good thing, comes in, gives that gap funding to help these companies get off and get started creating jobs, and work. But Mitt Romney and Bain Capital were involved with what I call vulture capitalism. And they walked into Gaffney and took over that photo album company for no other reason than to basically pick the bones clean. And those people lost their jobs.”
~Rick Perry, referring to a local photo-album manufacturer in Gaffney where 150 jobs were cut when Bain assumed control, January 10, 2012
49. “I believe most Americans want their next President to remind them of the guy they work with, not the guy who laid them off.”
~Mike Huckabee, describing Mitt Romney in a 2008 campaign ad.
50. “There is no one who’s gonna be sitting on that stage who has the record of job creation I have. There’s one in particular who’s created jobs all around the world. While he was the governor of Massachusetts he didn’t create many jobs.”
~Rick Perry, attacking Romney’s record of outsourcing and job creation, September 2011
51. “Romney, supposedly the Republican most electable next November, is a recidivist reviser of his principles who is not only becoming less electable; he might damage GOP chances of capturing the Senate… Republicans may have found their Michael Dukakis…”
~George Will, blasting Romney’s flip flopping, Washington Post, October 2011
52. “He spent more time on the road to Damascus than a Syrian camel driver. And we thought nobody could fill John Kerry’s flip-flops! … [Romney's record was] “anything but conservative until he changed all the light bulbs in his chandelier in time to run for President.”
~Mike Huckabee, attacking Romney in his book for flip flopping, Do The Right Thing, 2008
53. “Bless his heart, I have respect for Mitt Romney, but I do not have respect for what he has done through this debt increase debate. He waited until it was a done deal that we would increase the debt ceiling and more money would be spent, more money would be borrowed and spent on bigger government, and then he came out and made a statement that he didn’t like the deal after all. You can’t defer an issue and assume that the problem is then going to be avoided.”
~Sarah Palin, ripping Romney for avoiding taking a position on the debt ceiling debate until after Congress voted to raise it, Hannity, August 2011
54. “I don’t think that Mitt Romney can legitimately say that he learned anything about how to create jobs in the LBO (leveraged buyout) business. The LBO business is about how to strip cash out of old, long-in-the-tooth companies and how to make short-term profits. All the jobs that he talks about came from Staples. That was a very early venture stage deal. That, you know they got out of long before it got to its current size.”
~Former Reagan OMB Director David Stockman, on Romney’s job creation experience, Fox News, May 2012
55. “The fact is, there are a couple of years he may not have paid any taxes. Maybe he’s concerned about that. But if it’s going to come out, he needs to get it out now so he has a couple of months to explain it.”
~Former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough, “Morning Joe,” MSNBC, July 16, 2012
56. “All we have to do is replace Obama. We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don’t need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don’t need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate. Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become President of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared.”
Nice post Charlie! I like your style.
You may have got them all Charlie... But did you mention the Republicans are douche-bags!!??
Great list, Charlie!
They just want to get this stupid tax-release-non-issue out of the way. Now, if you're looking for things Clinton has said about Obama's foreign policy or economic policy or campaign strategy you'll be able to find a lot more than this. Check out the following on youtube

I'd find more, but I'm pretty tired. You all have a good night.
Who's desperate Mitty? Who? Did you think this campaign was going to be one of your country club cocktail parties where you and Annie ruminate on the fine points of dressage? Man, Mitt you really are a RINO. And a loser.
One of the essential characteristics of Mitt Romney's personality is dishonesty. Take a look at the man's eyes - if you can find them. Behind those eyes lies not the soul of a human being, but that of a SNAKE. If there ever was an "anti-christ" it would be Romney, and Adolf Eichmann Ryan makes a real fine sidekick for the anti-christ.
Not only his eyes...but also his lip smacking.
And.... he speaks Parseltongue!
Bruce - I have to say is his Eh Eh Eh - gawd that reminds me of Bush the Junior and his lying eyes
Reminds me when one of my children broke a lamp - all vacant - no mom I didn't do it
These jokesters have the same eyes - TRUST ME MOM - I didn't do it
Can't fool a Mom!
Wow Karl Rove is right Amercians have a short attention spans. Romney/Ryan are just repackaged Bush/Cheny. Lets cut the taxes on the wealthy and not pay our bills and get the country in worse shape. Who do we go to war with next? People wake up it didn't work then why will it work now.
