BOSTON -- Top aides to the GOP's presumptive nominee Mitt Romney were at a loss today to explain the candidate's recent slide in a series of national polls which show Romney dropping anywhere from seven to nine points behind the president as the nominating conventions approach at the end of this month.
"It’s the middle of summer. It’s the doldrums. It’s the middle of the Olympics,” a senior Romney adviser told reporters gathered for a briefing at the campaign's Boston headquarters. “There's not been any national news, anything that would push these numbers from minus-three to minus-nine points. That's a huge shift. You have to have some kind of precipitating event to move numbers like that."
As we noted this morning, three national polls released late this week -- from CNN, Fox and Reuters/Ipsos -- all show Romney slipping out of the margin of error nationally in his effort to unseat the president.
With reporters gathered to learn more about Romney's swing-state bus tour this weekend, a top adviser dismissed the slip in polling as a function of voters simply not paying full attention to the race yet, and predicted polls next week could just as easily show the GOP nominee-in-waiting tightening up the race, but couldn't identify any event that could have caused a real shift in voter sentiment, dismissing even the impact of the candidate's recent foreign trip as "negligible."
The shift also comes as a barrage of swing-state TV ads have hammered Romney on taxes and his business record. Romney, of course, is also on the air with his campaign and outside groups supporting him maintaining a 2-to-1 spending advantage over President Obama and his allies.
"Mark my word guys, there will be another couple of polls next week that show something, potentially show something different,” said the senior adviser. “I don't know. It’s just-- it’s unlikely that--. People are not paying as much attention to this process as we think they are, as we'd like them to.”
Advisers to Romney also used this morning's gathering of reporters as an opportunity to hit back against a recent ad from the pro-Obama Super PAC Priorities USA, which indirectly ties Romney to the cancer death of the wife of a steelworker laid off when Bain Capital acquired his business.
"I don't think a world champion limbo dancer could get any lower than the Obama campaign right now," said senior adviser Eric Fehnrstrom, who made no distinction between the Obama campaign and the Super PAC supporting the president, which aired the ad. "Obama said he would change the tone in Washington, and he has done that. He's taken it from bad to worse."
Fehrnstrom said later, "When you start running ads accusing your opponent of killing people, then you have lost credibility.”
The Obama campaign's Lis Smith responded this way: “The Romney campaign’s faux outrage over an ad run by an outside group separate from our campaign rings extremely hollow. Mitt Romney won the Republican primary only by tearing down each of his opponents with ruthlessly negative campaigning, including ads funded by outside allies. His campaign has questioned whether the President understands what it is to be American, attacked his patriotism, and is currently running an ad that a former president and authors of the welfare-to-work legislation have called a flat-out lie. When the Romney campaign finally reaches the high ground, we look forward to greeting them there.”
Blurring the lines between campaigns and PACs also carries risk for Romney, as several Super PACs are airing negative ads on his behalf. The Romney campaign has also come under fire for taking issues and statements by the president out of context (albeit all issue-related) in their own ads.
"This is what campaigns are about. We go back and forth over the issues," said Fehrnstrom, who also dismissed a question suggesting that multiple Romney ads had been inaccurate.
Tomorrow, Romney will begin a four-state bus tour to tout his “plan for the middle class,” with stops in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and Ohio.
The Romney campaign sees the tour a "blue-states" bus tour, pointing out that all four states, while vital to Romney this go-round, were won by President Obama in 2008.
Of course, those states were all also won by former President George W. Bush, a Republican in 2004, and Obama was the first Democrat since 1964 to win Virginia and the first since 1976 to win North Carolina.
A senior adviser said polling data shows the president's support slipping from 2008 levels in all four states. That may be, but Obama won in an electoral landslide in 2008.
"These are all tight states, on the bubble, within the margin of error," the adviser said. All four are widely considered to be toss-up states.
For Romney to truly cut through the siege of political ads in all four states, the campaign may need to hold out until the Republican convention in late August, where a senior adviser said challengers typically get a bounce that is several points larger than the incumbent, and after which point voters begin to pay closer attention.
Asked about timing of a possible vice-presidential announcement to further that bounce, aides demurred, saying history showed that the vice-presidential bounce and the convention bounce tend to be one in the same, and so there was no way to predict the effect of an early vice presidential announcement. That’s because, outside of 2004, the vice-presidential pick is generally made within a week of the convention.

Team Willard is correct on this one!
Willard can very well drop another 7 points next week! lol
America is not buying what this empty suit is peddling!
On a personal note, I did not expect the Mitt Witt to start tanking so soon! Not that I'm complaining or anything! tee hee!
Does that mean he will announce his VP pick this week so
he can get the normal bounce?
Then he can expect another bounce after the convention.
But what if he doesn’t get a bounce from either?
"It’s the middle of summer. It’s the doldrums. It’s the middle of the Olympics,” a senior Romney adviser told reporters"
Okay, I'm confused. isn't it also the middle of summer, the doldrums and the middle of the Olympics for the Obama campaign, too?
redheaded slut - an excellent cocktail.
i agree i assumed Romeny would suffer with the oral agility as compared to Barack Jesus Obama, but this is getting out of control. Id like him just look in the camera and say.. Obama you a Forking Arsehole.. He's in a flat tailspin.
And while it may cost Reid is senate seat he sucessfully ripped the narative away from "you did'nt build that" to tax returns.. as though 8% unemployment ant 14 trillion dollar deficits and the Us Military just got kicked out of the South China sea by the chineese military have ANYTHING to do with Tax returns..
redheaded slut - and excellent cocktail - has a point. He's just an empty suit right now. obama kicking his butt
Feisty - yeah pretty sure the polls will look even more dismal for Romney next week - and the week after that, etc. How far can he go? Oh wait - it's Romney - he can go lower!

Seems the only bouncing going on is Romney being sucked down by gravity into the massive black hole his own party and campaign has created. Tis getting so bad, even the minor miracles like bending light aren't going to be useful in letting him see the light of day. LOSER!!
Polls can change 'next week'...
The Alfred E. Newman method of campaigning "What me worry?"
Now where's that Etch-A-Sketch?

what insults from republicans not allowed.. only from redheaded slut - an excellent cocktail- may highlight "redneck trailer trash' tea-baggers" all contained on her greatest hits album. I did not know it was be nice to the disability check queen week.
New democratic platform. Insults for all, just none allowed toward us! ha!

Obama has had bumps in the polls before. He always falls soon after. Eventually his mismanagement of the U.S. economy will have to be addressed and he will be unemployed in January.
@Joanne in PA - ah - why Obama's polling hasn't been affected by the olympics?? Obama didn't enter a horse in the competition. The romneybots are SO disappointed that the horse bombed - that they've just lost interest in their candidate.
Simple, really.
You just perfectly described Feisty! LOL!
@ airbrushed (a anonymous screen name)

It is normal for an incumbent President to be ahead in the polls at this juncture of the campaign. Remember that Bush was substantially ahead of Kerry in '04' around "this time," and only beat him by three (3) million votes.
Or, just about one (1) percent of the electorate.
The real campaigning starts after the conventions, and the only poll that matters is the one they take on the first Tuesday in November.
I still predict that this thing is going to be much closer than the way-too-overconfident Obama supporters think it will, and Romney could win.
Correction: Obama did not win in a landslide over McCain. A solid win, but no landslide.
Please remember when George W held a similar lead over Kerry, the media called the race "too close to call" up until the last minute. Bush won by 3 points. Take the media cheerleading with a grain of salt.
The Carter / Reagan race was within a couple of points up until 10 days before the election. Please recall Reagan won 41 states in a true landslide.
There will be two more months of abysmal economic reports released before the election. President Foodstamps has literally done nothing positive on the job front or economic front. Eventually, the middle class and independents will wake up.
The debates will be pivotal. Obama will have to explain to the nation why there are fewer people working than 4 years ago and why the debt has doubled under his watch. It won't be pretty.
"That's a huge shift. You have to have some kind of precipitating event to move numbers like that."
Correct. People are coming to the understanding that Romney is a flip flopper on anything that can be flipped. Here is a clip of Romney not only saying that he is pro-abortion, but that he will never change. http://www.upworthy.com/wouldnt-it-be-crazy-if-we-had-footage-of-romney-denouncing-his-own-pro-life-agen?c=la1
He tried to prove two opposite points to two government agencies with the same proof. He swore to the Massachusetts Election Commission that he was traveling back to MA every week for business and person reasons, and he was involved in MA during the Olympics. Now, he says he has not had any involvement with the company of which he is sole owner, stockholder and CEO. Bain is the only job he had in his life. He is lying to the SEC or he lied to the election commission. It could be perjury.
ZMan,
Actually it is much different this cycle. Traditionally at this time there is about 10% of the electorate that are undecided but this year it is only about 3% which is more like October numbers. If that 3% still holds after the conventions, then there is little time or room for the change Mr. Romney needs.
Only in your dreams Mr. Romney, only in your dreams. When all the polls are in agreement, as these are (even the Fox poll, can you beleive it?) then you are in trouble bubba.
You'll get a little bump when you announce your VP and another little bump when the GOP hold their coronation party in Tampa. But then it will all be downhill for you bubba.
Yeeeehaw!
Obama/Biden 2012
Revenge - of COURSE you are!
Joshua W. Morris -
Whether you sign your posts with your real name or not is beside the point. Men who refer to friends of mine as "slut" are still losers.
Sure Mitt, polls can change in 5 minutes, if you release your Tax Returns, but I guess you won't do that because you're affraid you'd be charged with a felony for falsifying your tax records, or else crucified by the Press for lying about your tenure at Bain.
Obama/Biden 2012
"The polls can change next week" - yeah....right.......
Republicans don't want a wave of apathy to blunt voter enthusiasm, and not turn out and vote.
As always, the unpatriotic right anxiously wants to hear the worst possible news on the state of our economy. Every time unemployment goes down, a net gain in jobs is posted, for every point we add in GDP growth, they die a little inside. They'd rather we slipped into a full-blown depression so that their dire predictions about Obama came true. Party and ego above community and nation. Unbelievable.
Whoop-de-doo. I wish I were as stoked as you are about abysmal economic reports. With the House and Senate Republicans trying their damnedest to make it happen, I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case.
Nothing. Except he saved the auto industry and took us from losing more than 800,000 jobs a month to a net gain in jobs within a year. You're either being blatantly disingenuous or don't have the slightest idea of what the word "literally" means. Your statement is easily demonstrable to be false.
As much as Republicans hate it when people bring up Bush and point to the fact that Obama inherited an economy bleeding out almost a million jobs a month and an economy contracting at almost 10% per quarter, those things matter. They're not childish excuses. You can't inherit such a disastrously managed economy and have us back in late-1990s prosperity in a heartbeat. Think about it: in order to merely offset the 800,000 jobs lost in Jan. 2009, you need four months of growth under normal conditions. And no, it's completely irrelevant how long it took Reagan to get us back from the early-'80s recession. First, our last recession was far deeper, and second, economists agree that recessions caused by housing crashes always feature slow recoveries. If at least 60% of the country were able to understand these concepts, you'd better believe 60% of the country would vote for Obama.
You know what will be painful, though? Romney trying to explain why, while the President agrees with keeping the tax cuts for the middle class and raising revenue by eliminating tax cuts for the rich (something anywhere from 65% to 80% of Americans agree with, according to periodic Gallup surveys), he himself favors an approach that furnishes the rich with even more tax cuts and raises effective tax rates on the middle class and the poor. Boy, will that be awkward.
ZMan -
Actually Kerry was up in the polls in early August of 2004. Bush pulled ahead in late August and never fell behind again.
I see a lot of similarities in this years election - incumbent strongly disliked by opposition party, opponent is a wealthy New Englander who cant connect with the common man...
As the Dems found out in 2004 running against someone isn't enough to pull in the independents.
The polls can change... but nothing can save Obama.
Optimism about economy down, poll shows
"The number of people who say the economy is starting to recover has dropped 5 points since April, from 24 percent to 19 percent, while the number who say that the economy remains in a downturn is up 6 points to 39 percent, a CNN/ORC International poll released Friday shows.
"That all seems bad news for President Barack Obama's re-election chances,..says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland."
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/optimism-economy-down-poll-shows-093440014.html
Good one American Girl. Yep, you'll see those poll numbers drop like the leaves in autumn if Mr. Romney releases those tax returns. Heck, today's polls will be the high water mark.
C'mon Romney, you know you want to release them so you can show the rest of us just how rich you really are and much we subsidize your life-style with our taxes.
Obama/Biden 2012
Two things.
Romney hasn't changed the message of the GOP - it has changed him. The Republican brand stinks, and so does their message. It just took 40 years for voters to finally get it.
Second, independents have years have seen the GOP talk about a better america - but never provide details about how they will get there. Romney comes off as the ultimate politician - wishy washy on everything, and careful to never give a single detail about his plans. If the GOP offers the same empty promises with no details at it's convention there will be no bounce - in fact, I would be surprised if more independents didn't start questioning their allegiance to local GOP senators and representatives.
Romney Hood's staff excuses for his slide-
- It’s the middle of summer.
- It’s the doldrums.
- It’s the middle of the Olympics
- There's not been any national news
OR ...
- Our candidate sucks
- Our candidate has no credibility
- The voting public is finally taking a closer look
- Our candidate is still waiting to "define" himself
- Everybody hates Mormons
- ?
ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!! Bye Bye Romney Hood!
:-D
The GOP has been hijacked by the religious right and the racists. Republican leadership panders to such people.
I do feel a bit sorry for Repubs. Not because they're losing the presidential race--which is great--but because the middle and working class among them are so misled. Socialism is a dirty word to these people and Republican leadership wields it like a club to hammer Obama. Most Republicans seem to be unable to recognize that we are already surrounded by social programs that all but the most militant teabaggers can agree on.
POLICE------SOCIALISM
FIREFIGHTERS----SOCIALISM
PUBLIC EDUCATION------SOCIALISM
INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS-----SOCIALISM
THE MILITARY-------SOCIALISM
FEDERAL DEPOSIT INSURANCE CORPORATION-------SOCIALISM
NASA--------SOCIALISM
NATIONAL PARKS-------SOCIALISM
FCC-----SOCIALISM
ATF/CIA/FBI/DEA-------SOCIALISM
FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION-------SOCIALISM (I spelled it out because this one is especially important. Imagine a society where drug companies just put their products out like the quack peddlers of old without any oversight, or farms that sold their beef and produce raised in unsanitary conditions. People would be dying from unsafe drugs and E coli left and right.)
Heck, having a government in the first place is SOCIALISM. It's not a dirty word, folks. We are a society and there are just some things that we can do better together.
These poll numbers will not improve for Romney if he is not willing to answer simple questions about his qualifications or justify his contention that the wealthy need more tax cuts by releasing his tax returns to prove that he is "taxed enough already".
He claims his business experience is his primary qualification to be the President but he says that anyone who examines his past business practices are playing dirty....
He claims that the wealthy need tax cuts so that they will create jobs, but he will not show us the proof that his own tax rate is high enough for that to be a valid argument...
Mitt.....nobody is just going to take your word for it....this is an important job, and if it was you who was doing the hiring, you would certainly balk at an applicant who would not allow you to verify their resume......why would you expect that we would not want to verify yours?
Romney spiked the Summer Doldrums
by
having us ask the question
Where are Romney's taxes?
Thanks Mitt for keeping it lively....
Well, sure there has!
First, there was Romney's disastrous European tour. If there was any group of people he didn't piss off and/or insult in that fiasco, I didn't hear about it. His keepers really should keep a tighter leash on him!
Then there is the ongoing flap about Romney's taxes. Particularly ironic since it was Mitt's father who set precedent during his 1968 run for president by releasing a dozen years of his tax records. But then, George Romney had nothing to hide.
Then there is Bain: Bain, Bain, Bain! What Romney has been touting as his biggest strength is turning out to be a major weakness.
You are wrong, sir! People are paying plenty of attention to the process. And that, I think, neatly explains the sudden -3 to -9 shift! People are paying attention. Maybe Romney should start saying something worth hearing.
This goes down as one of the dumbest, ill-thought pieces of tripe I have ever read on these forums.
Republicans are not against government - that's anarchy and the only people I have ever hear that espouse anarchy are frightfully stupid OWS protesters and campus leftists. There is a proper function of government and most of those examples fall into the proper use of government. Where conservatives disagree with the liberal/progressive view of the proper size and scope of government.
So do me a favor. Stop deciding what I believe in since you don't have a clue and make a coherent argument (if that's possible) on what YOU believe in.
Exactly Greasemonkey. He wants us to make him the most powerful man on earth and he won't be transparent with his finances?
One thing that keeps politicians honest and America great---we need to know everything about our public servants. You don't like it, don't run for office.
Thanks Q22 you made my point. My list was to show examples of socialism that both the left and right are completely in agreement. Republicans are socialists too, they just don't recognize it.
proper use of government is subjective. You are entitled to your opinion of course.
Look GOP, I know Rommey to be a smart intelligent guy. So why can he not offer any substance to his plans? Obviously because the agenda will continue to force working americans to accept low wages, no future and when the ecomomy drops again they will celebrate their POWER over the workers....hmmm just like Europe in the middle ages. So don't let the real story get out, it might turn some GOP people to the left. I have had the discussion many times locally, right wingers always say "not all of us are that way". Sounds like a message the Conservative element is ignoring totally.
Feisty....do you even have a job? Reading your profile, you blame "W" for losing your job...that was 4 years ago. Based on the amount of time and crap you spew on this site, I can't imagine how productive you could possibly be at work. You are always the first person to comment on every political article and have so much hate inside you its actually funny reading your comments...you truly believe all that leftist crap. Not every republican is a rich, white male. Some of us are racially mixed and have small business and may even have both liberal and conservative views, but tend to lean just a little more to the right of middle...some of us crate jobs for others....keeping spewing the crap from your mouth...the more you say it...the more you actually believe it to be true. A little tip....spend less time trolling the internet and more time working and you are likely to keep a job.
It's not *%$# Socialism! Socialism is a stated political philosophy. Why not call it Fascism since the Fascists believed in police, firefighters, public schools etc.? Even the goofball Kim Un in North Korea believes in infrastructure maybe we are all Communists.
Read a book. Get some knowledge.
As long as Romney refuses to prove that he didn't evade taxes with special shelters and offshore entities.... oh wait, we already know that he did indeed use every loophole and trick in the book to reduce his tax exposure based on a 2010 release, that he surely knew the public would see. I'd like to know what is on the returns he intended all along to keep private.
He also keeps delaying releasing any substance to define his tax policy and how he'll create 250k jobs per month. He continues to say he'll overthrow the ACA; while he praises his Mass health care reform.
The numbers can change in a week, in fact they just did... in Obama's favor.
So, uh...Let me get this straight, Camp Romney...
You don't think Romney's poor showing in polls has anything to do with the GOP's war on women???
Throughout spring and summer, I've patiently and objectively observed the candidates; I dislike both. Voters have gotten to know Obama, so I've paid particular attention to Romney to try to see what he's made of. Conclusion: I'm concerned and unimpressed. Increasingly, the bounce Romney needs is being booted from the race then everyone can move beyond the miserable campaigns and election.
I still wonder how Mitt made it this far. He’s shown that it isn’t a solutions-oriented vision because his policy details are scant and parallels he’s tried to make with analogies miss the target and they do not connect with voters. I thought perhaps it could be leadership and knowhow, but only in the sense of his polished shuck ‘n jive with flip flopping and avoiding numerous personal, professional and political issues. Trying to talk game but end up blowing smoke up people’s butts only goes so far.
It's become evident that Mitt doesn’t know who he is, what he believes in and stands for. He can't figure out if he wants to lay, sit, stand or turn about. He's all over the place. He’s tried his darnedest to make himself be something that he isn’t - informed, stable, convincing and likeable. Romney can run and hid, but it doesn't evade the stench that precedes and follows him.
With his identity crisis, conceited attitude, and refusal to level with voters, there's no wonder why this presidential election is emerging as a one man race.
P.S. I had long been a registered Republican, but after the party was overrun by radicals and loudmouths, I changed to unaffiliated/independent status.
SeekingSanity
Romney had a 30 something approval rating when he left Mass as Gov. Maybe he can repeat that number.
Romney's Schedule D from his 2010 return indicates that he claimed a $4.8 million loss carried over from prior years. He paid $3 million in taxes on $21.7 million of income, 13.8%.
The carry over means Romney probably paid single digit tax rate in 2008 or 2009, if not zero. Wealthy investors use a legal strategy called "tax harvesting" in which they sell weak investments at a loss and use the losses to offset gains from better performing investments. The loss can be carried forward to help lower the tax bill in later years when investments might have done better. It is a common practice for sophisticated investors.
That is the "precipitating event" MR CAMPAIGN MANAGER!
The Olympics have taken the steam out of the Republican "machine". Now people can sit back and enjoy the Olympic moment and watch Americans excel on the international stage. Somehow the Republican message of "doom and gloom" is losing its edge. American exceptionalism continues to thrive and that goes against everything the Republicans say. The longer Mitt is upstaged by the Olympics, the longer people will have to re-evaluate the candidate and discover that he really hasn't said anything of value. Vietnam Veterans for Obama in 2012
Technically, the Olympics are starting to wind down, and the fact that Romney is dismissing these abysmal numbers is probably showing that his campaign is going into damage control and is just trying to keep a calm demeanor.
Unfortunately, my dear veteran, American exceptionalism is back, but it needs some backup. For a long time, our exceptionalism has been hurt by low education scores and higher costs for education and healthcare. Now, Obama has not gone full-throttle on these issues (except healthcare), but at least he has given Democrats and liberals a first step to a 21st century New Deal, much like the Republicans' Contract with America. If we can hold our ground with Obamacare, we will hopefully be able to restore America to the values that made our country great.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
Not good news for Obama. Gallup approval rating down to a Bush-like 43%.
Don ...good points...you wrote"Republicans are socialists too, they just don't recognize it."
Oh...they recognize it...they won't admit it.
These buzz words Teabaggers use are from their weekly and daily buzzword list they get from the man behind the curtain. Newt Gingrich started the word list to be used to control the brainwashing of the feeble minded back in 1993. Do search on Newt Gingrich word list Read about how you Teabaggers are fed words like a dog whistle is used on a dog to respond to certain stimuli! Sad huh? They think these little nasty emails and cartoons fed to them are created by other Teabaggers....Too Funny..Karl Rove has you by the short hais and on a leash to make vote against your own self interests. Rove rings Pavlov's bell, and you start foaming at the mouth......against you own self interests........Hear that? dingeling.....dingeling.....The bell tolls for thee! start foaming!
Obama/Biden 2012......
Rod_Father
So, Rod, is any of this illegal?
Of course it's legal. If you have a lot of investments you are bound to have both winners and losers. So if you have a real winner you can offset the gains by selling a real loser at the same time. Since you cannot offset all gains with a lose you can carry over the lose to the next year. You don't have to be a big investor to do this either - just have a really bad stock loss.
Maybe he can get Salt Lake to invoke a miracle for him
Unfortunately Jim, it is not illegal. Yet you fail to show your understanding of the ethical issues that this tactic brings up, instead of just the legal ones.
The arrogance of these Republi-Thugs never ceases to amaze me but what worries me is that the Romney plan for America goes well beyond ROMNEY-HOOD; I believe It's much more sinister than that.
These people have become experts in stealing from the public trust and then running for the baseboards like a bunch of cockroaches leaving the Democrats to clean up their mess. We have seen this time and time again in America but yet somehow these Republican parasites with the help of millions of gullible American voters always return to do it all again. I have seen this cycle at least four times in my life and I’m fed up with it. Instead of coming back into power and stealing a few billion here and few billion there, this time is different; they want all the money all the power and pretty much everything that’s left.
If these crooks and traitors regain control of Washington it’s over for our country. After they eliminate our voting rights they will elevate the top 1/10 of 1% to ruling elite status and the rest of us to slave status. If you don’t believe that then stop for one second a look and listen to what they have been doing and saying recently. If that doesn’t open your eyes and wake you up then I feel sorry for you. These B^%$#@*s are truly evil.....
Campaigning on obvious lies (the "you didn't do that" misquote and the false Obama welfare claim) insults the electorate and causes obviously negative conclusions about his integrity. POOF, 7 points gone... wanna try for a few more?
Q22
Thanks. I’m very aware this is all legal. So are the offshore accounts and other manipulations millions of Americans use to avoid, NOT EVADE, taxes with.
What I was hoping for, and, as usual, I received here.
Freshieee
So, Freshieee, why do you say “unfortunately it is not illegal”? There are thousands of these “loopholes” in our criminal progressive tax code. I would imagine you want our current tax code eliminated, right?
As far as your “ethical” argument is concerned, it MUST BE ETHICAL if it is legal.
Ethical: being in accordance with the rules or standards for right conduct or practice, especially the standards of a profession.
What you liberals convolute is morality. Your morality. You “feel” it is wrong even though it is legal. You accepted the same nonsense when Barrack Hussein decided, by executive order, that we shouldn’t pursue illegal aliens who have been here for some time, primarily children. This, in fact, IS illegal but Obama promoted it as the “right thing to do”. You CAN NEVER legislate morality. This always disintegrates into a subjective vs. objective argument.
Why is it unethical for Romney to want to protect his hard earned wealth? Do you refuse to take your home mortgage interest deduction to pay more in taxes to be more ethical? Of course you don’t. You, as well as Romney, want to protect your wealth. What you Liberals claim is all about fairness and greed is bulls**t. What you’re arguing is envy, your envy for Romneys success. That becomes a whole different discussion.
Greed isn’t someone wanting to keep more of what they earn; its people demanding a greater share of money that someone else has earned. I’ll vote for anyone who will try to improve my standard of living ...without destroying someone else’s!
So should you, if you have any pride left.
Romney 2012, for a real America.
Romney and His snarks are a pack of gwaddamn fools. They think they can run an effective campaign against the President by talking about how bad the economy is. Well, Fools, it ain't that bad! Fact, the S&P is 45% higher right now than It was the day the President took office. Hasn't happened since Eisenhower. Those, like myself, who bought stocks in latter 09 and early10 have made pleasant money. The lack of job creation has been more the fault of a gwaddamn obstuctionist Congress than any policy or regulation set by this administration. On top of that, these sons-a-bitches have spent most of their time preaching "gloom and doom" lies, to their constituencies. Even after all the cheap republican bullsh^t the economy, and job situation has actually improved to a rate of 8.1%. Had the republican Congressional dregs been looking out for the American people instead of trying to make political hay at the peoples expense, the employment landscape would also be much cleaner and brighter. You republicans brought the sh^t storm upon us, and now you want to blame the President for not yet cleaning your mess up. On top of heaping blame on Him, you sons-a-bitches blocked every move He made toward speeding up the cleanup, and cursed Him for attempting to favor those hardest hit by your mess with a small modicum of relief. What a Sh^tty gang of sorry bastards. Keep getting out among the people Romney. Keep telling 'em how sorry this President is. Keep telling 'em about His sorry Health Care Package. Keep telling 'em the super rich need their taxes lowered, while they all pay more. Keep this up, you tax evading, thieving, republican puppet. Get the weasel Ryan to tell 'em they need to learn to live without Social Security and Medicare. Your poll numbers will change alright. You go ahead and tell 'em! Oh yeah! Where are your past tax returns? Gonna show 'em to us? Hell no!, you're not! You sorry sleaze ball!
No; unlike you, I still find purpose in our tax code, no matter how complicated it is. And how the hell is it criminal???
By definition, yes; I was talking more about ethical as it comes to morals and values.
It's not bad to keep your hard earned wealth. But what's unethical is the fact that Romney paid a 13.9% tax rate on $25 million.
I don't envy Romney; what I oppose is how the wealthiest Americans are able to control a disproportionate amount of wealth in the United States. While it is not written in law, I cannot find any justification for the top 1% of Americans are able to control around 25% of the nation's total income.
The problem is, somebody's standard of living is going to have to take a hit. That is based on history. During the postwar boom, when the middle class prospered, the rich were not as rich or as powerful as they are now. When the rich began to rise in the 1980s, it came at the expense of the middle class, whose wages stagnated. When the big banks blew up in 2009, the middle class suffered. If you want sustainable prosperity, you have to reduce income inequality, or else more and more growth will go to the wealthiest Americans. And that requires, among other things, tax increases on the wealthy.
There will be no America if Mitt Romney gets to Washington. After cutting taxes across the board, gutting education and other domestic spending, and deregulating the economy, America will no longer be what it once was. If Romney gets the nomination, the Tea Party will call the shots. And everything that people fought long and hard for, the modern welfare state, will be destroyed. Now you may have differing opinions about the welfare state than I do, but we can both admit that it helps people down on their luck, and we can both admit that the elimination of the social safety net would destroy the middle class. Romney is merely the puppet; Grover Norquist and the Tea Party will call the shots if they get the White House. And their plan is to take America back to the Dark Ages.
If you have any rationality left,
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
If Obama gets another 4 more, means you Americans will dissolve into nothing and you're currently on track to do just that. Keep drinking the Obama kool-aid Obama keeps force feeding you.
Oh, and Obama can't use the 'Bush' excuse so what will be his next BS line that spoons feeds you idiots.
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL you write so eloquently to be such a 'sucker' .. you must be collecting your free Obama money, enjoy it while it lasts. Here's another cup of kool-aid or is it grape soda? Roselle IL is a fkin' dump, stay there, it's a great place for you, a place that you crawled into and you will never crawl out.
I'm sitting here in my beach front home in Costa Rica, with cash in the bank, an ocean front home, (paid for) and enjoying paradise, please keep your Obamie in the USA and he will keep ruining what was a great country.
When I'm sitting here on the beach with my wife and read what's going on there in the US, I turn to my wife and think how you beautiful you are babe and I am blessed to be here with you.
Enjoying paradise and you Obama suckers will be driven into the ground by your tele-prompter, hip-hop, wannabe halfrican president.
If I were a Romney supporter I would still vote for Obama because I just couldn't vote for a man who walks like Romney does. Why does he walk like that? It's just not normal.
The polls may change next week but he should have changed his magic underoos LAST week. He has no idea that the other side has been "tame" on that subject,,, waiting for the right opportunity to pounce. I remember 2008 tactics - so do many Democrats. If you think things are ugly now, wait until the day after Labor Day. Mittens is going to be ripped to shreds.
Rest assured libbies, barry is a gonner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You fools cackle about Mitt's taxes while unemployment is 8.3% and the economy is in the ditch and gas is nearing $4 a gallon. Housing is still in trouble and our Nat Debt is thru the roof and getting worse. Exec priv on F&F and letting 800,000 illegals take American jobs. Yup, keep screaming for Mitt's taxes you fools.
Mitt/? 2012
Yeah, it's gonner be interesting to watch the GOP try to pull a viable candidate out of its a$s at the convention. I gotta ask "where's the jam?" because Romney's toast!
JimSpence,
It is a legal practice.
You need to look to the future and see that what Romney wants to do is give tax credits to the most wealthy and increase taxes on the middle class and poor. He wants them to be able to continue to pay lower and lower and lower tax on their huge incomes and make everyone else pay more.
The problem that I have with Romney is; he has no credibility, no ethics, and zero compassion for his less fortunate American citizens. That is my issue with Romney.
I agree that the polling at this time is not as meaningful as the polling about 10 days after the last convention when all the convention bounce has faded. I said it a couple weeks ago when a random poll showed Willard leading and I say it now. Still, the trend has to have Willard concerned.
Willard

Is team Romney about applying the so called "etch a sketch" strategy? Because come next week and beyond, we will still ask the killer question, show your tax returns Mitt.

Willard - "I know I'm behind in the polls, but still vote for me".
Obama - "I know I've failed miserably and have no record to run on, but Romney won't show you his tax returns just like I wouldn't show my birth certificate, and a birth certificate is actually REQUIRED to be president.... but, I'll give you taxpayer-funded handouts for your vote."

Carnival Barker, why don't you Google the POTUS "birth certificate"? After the President had the "long form" posted on the Internet, I'm sure you could find it saved somewhere.
Obama/Biden 2012
American Girl - Romney won't release his tax returns either because he doesn't want to be charged with a felony, or because he lied about his tenure at Bain.
Or both!
Obama/Biden 2012
Romney spiked the Summer Doldrums

having us ask the question
Where are Romney's taxes?
Thanks Mitt for keeping it lively.... no doldrums from you.

No taxes either...what a way to keep your name in the media
Seems that Romney is having to run on his history as a sociopath.
Start with high school thug, move on to playing state cop, pulling over frightened people, the dog incident, then end with a job history killing careers and jobs. He needs to run away from everything he has "accomplished" 'cause he spent more effort hiding income than actually accomplishing anything.
Nice sociopath ya got there. Is it any wonder that folks are catching on.
What an idiot....this is the best you got?
If Romney were to be elected, I doubt this country will have a chance economically...let alone anything else....this coming from a staunch Republican from the good ol south...
Even my racist relatives, most of them dont got front teeth and live in trailer parks out in the Texas woods and some in the Oklahoma yonder wilderness; are votin for Obama....

No precipitating event? Like the LACK OF TAX RETURNS?
No. America is realizing Romney is a reincarnation of the National Socialists. Romney is SATAN!
Romney won't even discuss why he has six grandmothers instead of the usual two. Now he is calling for an "end to personalo attacks" such as his taxes, his "medical necessity" dressage horse and his tax returns.
note bene: When Reid made his statement about Romney's taxes, there had been similar (though broader) statements about Romney in both Bloomberg and Forbes. Perlosi said she had talked with Reid and that knew who his source was. It is appearing more and more that the source is someone who was on the Marriott Board of Directors with Romney. Apparently Romney insisted that Marriott use the sort of complex offshore tax dodges that Bain set up for numerous clients. Marriott did so and it split the Board. When one of these shelters was successfully attacked in court by the IRS, the Board reunited, the tax shelters were stopped, and Romney resigned from the Marriott BoD. It is hinted that Reid's source is one of the disgruntled Directors who did not want Marriott involved in sleazy tax shelters, especially the 89-day shell game false front shelters that Bain specialized in.
There are also supposedly clients of Bain, for whom Romney set up offshore 90-day shell game companies to whom Romney bragged that he never paid taxes because of his use of a tax loophole that allowed him to move money every 89 days between offshore shell companies and never pay taxes on it.
The "senior advisor" said that the polls show that the foreign trip had a negligible effect on Mitts popularity, is that the same guy who told the reporters to "kiss my a@@" ? And isn't it funny how the trip was supposed to improve Mitts standings, yet it had, at BEST, no effect.
There may be a change next week, Romney will continue to drop, maybe so much that the party decided that Ron Paul is actually a better choice.
Oh yes, typical Republican deflection: It’s the doldrums, sunspots, wacky Mormonism, sine waves from the federal government, anything but Republican's supply-side, trickle down economic policies.
Romney and Republicans will continue to lose because their economic formula is the same one that crashed our economy. They fail to learn from their mistakes and have become the new Whig party.
The party of big corporations and the greedy rich need more votes than Fox News can swindle for them, especially in this day and age of Occupy movements.
Besides, the information age has a remarkable way of squashing political deceptions, thus leading to a more informed electorate. No amount of Koch Brother money can beat that.
Show us the tax returns, Mitt!
Retroactive RomneyHood,
Maybe people just don't trust you or like you....for good reason.
Unfortunately, your Party of No is engaged in wars on: women, voters, minorities, students, the old, the young, science, immigrants, and ideas.
Because you have no compass, spine, or platform, you do what they tell you.
Mexicans and welfare recipients want Obama. With ACORN's help he probably will win. Disgusting. I doubt he represents any that went to Chick-fil-a and he doesn't represent me.
how pathetic can the Nobama Clown team be? this says it. all you union drools should be right on this too... laid off? well, maybe he should have joined the company sooner, to have a better clock number!
since when is it legal for an employer to pick and choose right? is what it is, and if this the best Nobama the Clown and his merry band of morons can come up with, just goes to show how splendid the next 4 yrs will be if this tool is re-elected.
Patriot Jane ... what a nasty snarky comment. I want Obama for my President again and I will never grace the door of a Chick-fil-a as long as I live. Have at it girl.
I encourage more of you low-education homophobes to eat as much chik-filet and other fried menu items as possible. That way it may land some of them in the Emergency Room where your 'freedom,' not to get health insurance will cost the rest of us your doctor bill.
Patriot Calamaity Jane, we get it. Youi hate the President. We dont need the chik-filet vote, never was going to get theire racist, bigoted toothless votes in the 1st place. Have a fried drumstick in my honor, ok? (burp)Never...
Did you miss any other 'wars' on anyone else ?
Romney should be pleased he's not further behind...in just the last two weeks he's been accused BY THE UNITED STATES SENATE MAJORITY LEADER of not paying federal income taxes for 10 years (Hint: Reid is a liar)...he's been accused by Sandra Fluke (SOMEONE-ELSE-SHOULD-PAY-MY CO-PAY GIRL) of wanting to deny America's women 'access' to contraceptive services (a lie) and the President echoed what she said (nothing new...he lies all the time)... and he's had a guy on a TV ad use questionable math to state that Romney closed the plant he worked at, thus his wife died of cancer, and Romney "doesn't care" ( without mentioning his wife died 7 years after Romney left Bain ).
About the only things he hasn't been accused of is involvement in the 9/11 attacks and of being involved in the Nicole Brown Simpson murder.
And of course...our unbiased national media has barely made a peep about applying actual "facts" to the crapola being heaped on the Republican candidate...they know how they like their bread buttered and they do prefer Obama's brand of oleo.
So after being accused of being a tax-evading, heartless, woman-hating murderer over the past two weeks, a slight slip in a poll isn't that bad of a fallout.
Maybe at some point in this election cycle we'll actually start discussing our lousy economy, a horrid lack of jobs, a crippling national debt, and a sitting president who said four years ago that he'd make sure none of those things would happen...but could not stop them from doing so because he was too busy trying to do other things that most folks really didn't want in the first place.
2-Lane...
You certainly do have an abundant share of "low-education" folks and even no-education folks in your party who will vote the exact same way you do.
Bill I think you're wasting your breath (so to speak). The only non-sociopaths in the new and improved "Republican" Party (NeoRepublican Party) are now calling themselves Independents.
Yes, there is no way that making a fool out of himself in England, Israel and Poland in an attempt to demonstrate his Presidential skills had anything to do with his drop in the polls.
No, it is not doldrums... people are simply waking up to the fact that Romney is nothing but a stooge for the top 1%.
I'm curious "Patriot"jane - What exactly do you base your "patriotism" on. Since you have decided to insult both Mexican Americans and the poor, then associate them with Black Americans and the President; I'm thinking I see a pattern here. I'll bet you're one of those neo-conservatives who see the President as "different" don't you? Could this all be an expression of an irrational fear based on those who you feel are different than yourself? Perhaps an unidentifiable fear of change? Why not google "the conservative brain". Recognition is the first step to recovery. You'll never be able to change the physiology of your brain, but you may be able to learn to compensate.
Patriot Jane, you do realize that ACORN folded more than two years ago? Also, your supposed type of patriotism will kill this country. What a fraud.
So Romney's camp is blaming the citizens. It's our fault his numbers have gotten even lower. He couldn't possibly be responsible for that! lol
Funny- this is one time they could blame Obama for something and they would be correct!
Obama did improve the economy with the stimulus and the auto bailout, and he had another plan that would create at least 1.3 million jobs that was filibustered by the very Republicans who planned to sabotage the Obama administration. He also had the Simpson Bowles commission to find ways to reduce the debt, and based its recommendations for his $4 trillion "grand bargain," but Cantor and his ilk refused to compromise and let the U.S. get downgraded. And Obama would have gone a long way to solving the economic problem, had the GOP not plotted to obstruct his every move on his inauguration day.

Mitt Wit the Twit
His campaign’s latest attempt to explain how and when Romney left Bain Capital — he’s supposed to have “retired retroactively” at some unspecified date — has became an instant punch line for JOKES!
The only reason anyone cares when Romney left Bain Capital, the private equity firm he founded and ran, is because Romney made a totally unreasonable claim: When Democrats pointed to the outsourcing and job cuts at companies Bain owned or controlled, Romney denied any responsibility since these unfortunate developments took place after he left to run the Winter Olympics in 1999.
This was an absurd position to take. Romney has boasted of his prowess at creating jobs by pointing to successful companies in which Bain invested, such as Staples,This growth took place after 1999. Romney was trying to take credit for post-departure successes but not for failures.
He then tried to insist on another ridiculous proposition, which is that he left Bain suddenly and completely in 1999. This cannot possibly be true. Romney was Bain Capital — chairman, chief executive and sole stockholder. There is no way he could have disentangled himself from the firm so abruptly.
Indeed, he did not. As late as 2002, Bain’s filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission list Romney as chairman, chief executive and sole stockholder. SO Mitt Wit the Twit ids LYING
If you look at Romney’s signature on those documents and listen to what he’s been saying on the campaign trail, you have to conclude that either he lied to the SEC or he’s lying to voters now.
IF HE LIED TO THE SEC HE HAS COMMITTED A FELONY!
THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MAN!
Let's hope not except to widen from a 9 pt. lead to 18pts so we can keep this religious cult member out of the WH. and his rich friends from buy his presidency!
There is nothing to explain - the so-called 'slide' is not real.
It's caused by several pollsters issuing polls where they include about 50% more Democrats than Republicans in their sample, when current surveys show equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats.
If you take polls of Likely Voters where the sample is split properly, it actually shows Romney slightly ahead - In fact, Rasmussen, the most accurate and unbiased pollster for 2004 and 2008 has Romney ahead 47% to 43% for Obama among Likely Voters, and if you adjust the Gallup poll for Likely Voters (see link below for explanation), they would show Romney ahead by 2%.
http://www.polimerican.com/adults-vs-registered-vs-likely-voters/
Patriot Jane, you seem to have 'conveniently' left out the part where the GOP ALSO used ACORN. Sen. McCain was at an Acorn rally, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, partnered with ACORN in March 2008 for a "Homeownership Promotes The Economy" taskforce, another Rep. Gov., Rick Perry of Texas, signed ACORN's Lending Law Reform Bill that changed the state's homelending practices, Minnesota Gov.Tim Pawlenty signed a similar bill -- drafted by ACORN -- that helped homeowners get fairer deals on their mortgages, Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney signed an anti-predatory lending bill that ACORN supported. Strange that the GOP 'supported' ACORN and then villified them AFTER they weren't needed any longer. Oh wait, isn't that the usual GOP mantra; It's only GOOD when we have the idea, BAD when Obama has the idea. Being close-minded hypocrit isn't 'patriotic,' it only shows cowardness.
still waiting for mccain to step foward with romneys tax returns for the past twenty years.
Mitt Wit the Twit
Mitt Wit been playing by a different set of rules from the rest of us. His tax rate is half that of your average American, and he's stashed the difference in offshore accounts from Switzerland to the Cayman
Islands. WHAT A GREAT PATRIOT!
As CEO and sole owner of Bain Capital from '99-'02, he received $100,000 a year in salary for a job now he claims he didn't have at a company whose decisions he refuses to accept responsibility for.
The Romney Rules are a double standard, plain and simple. They let Romney argue that the basic guarantees of healthcare and a secure retirement are "free stuff you don't pay for," then turn around and tell reporters that talking about his six figure non-job is off limits and no, you don't need to see his taxes.
Here's the bottom line: Mitt Romney thinks the country should answer to him. We think our elected leaders should answer to you.
THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MAN!
@Roy Wilson
Really Roy? FOX NEWS,which has Obama up NINE POINTS over Romney and SEVEN POINTS ahead with Independents (I know Roy,I know...those bastards probably polled 50% Democrats in their Independent poll...)...FOX NEWS is polling 50% more Dems than Republican's in THEIR poll?
Really?
You don't knock this BS off and I'll have no choice but to open an account over at DUMFUX and tattle on you.
That means no Sean Hannity swimsuit calendar for you this XMAS mister.
My college "Statistics" professor used to say that the great thing about statistics is that you can produce any argument you wish to make, without telling a lie, depending on which statistics you chose to use, and how you present it."
And as any political campaign spokesperson will confirm "We don't pay any attention to polls" (code for: We don't pay any attention to polls unless of course the results are in our favor).
The problem with Romney is he has two major flaws at this point, his performance in his overseas trip and the tax return problem. People suspect that he is hiding something, and by not releasing them he is fueling that. No amount of accusing Obama of not releasing his college information is going to get him out of that.
Mittens is in trouble and republicans would do well to ask him to step down and find someone else at the convention.
Ummmm, if you say so. So according to you the Fox pollsters polled 50% more Democrats than Republicans for their poll? Really? Can you support that with a reference or link? Not that I'm doubting Fox wanting to promote a Democratic advantage.
Seems to me many Republicans are from Egypt (somewhere along de Nile).
IMO it seems for Romney, a moderate Republican, to garner the nomination, the Republicans have spent months forcing him to the extreme right on every issue. Trying to make him someone he's not in order to court the Evangelical/Tea Party extremists and in the process losing the bulk of the independent vote needed to win the general election.
If you don't feel Romney has had an awful summer, well, then you'd be likely to disavow the polls, as you're living in a different reality.
Romney could put an end to this tax issue but he prefers to avoid the subject. Why? Is he that insecure about the amount of money he has made? What exactly is it that he does not want to reveal?
And now that Romney is trying to move back to the middle to recapture those independent voters, the Republican talking-heads are going bonkers and are frustrated beyond belief with their candidate and are on the verge of being resigned to looking forward to 2016.
So yeah, you must be right, "this 'slide' isn't real" because it's a freaking out-of-control crash landing!
Freshieee
Hmmmm, so we spent $863 billion and we saved or created $4.5 million jobs. That’s $191,777 per job. You realize we could have just given businesses $50,000 and we could have created over 17 MILLION jobs! This is the incompetence of government created jobs.
GM was a criminal act, yet you Libbies support it. First Barrack Hussein spent other people’s money. Hmmm, kind of like a venture capital firm does right? Any business can be considered a success if a government gives it tens of billions of dollars and is willing to accept the losses. The problem with GM is much more egregious. What Barrack Hussein did in “rescuing” GM was to subvert the bankruptcy and contract laws of the United States. Secured debt was wiped out and unsecured debtors were made whole. Billions in wealth was shifted from those who owned it to those who didn’t. This was done outside of and against the law in order to financially benefit Barrack Husseins criminal political allies in the goonions.
Now, had GM gone through the normal bankruptcy procedures, its assets would have been preserved, either by keeping them within a leaner and more competitive GM, or by selling them off to other firms looking to invest and/or expand. Those assets would have required workers to employ them, so even had GM gone bankrupt through the legal system whoever got them would have needed those workers to continue the business. Some employees, most likely management, would have lost their jobs.
Word came late yesterday that the Barack Obama Administration had upped dramatically the estimated loss on the automobile industry bailout, from $14.3 billion to $23.6 billion. The big increase is a reflection of the sharp decline in the value of (General Motors’) share price. We the Taxpayers own 500+ million shares of General Motors (GM) stock. For us to break even, we must sell at $53 per. It is currently trading at around $20.54 per share, down from its IPO price of $38.00.
Even if we became "whole" (it may be decades before we break even, if ever) we still have seen the laws trashed. No one, left or right or in the middle, should favor that kind of America. You could be the next to see your wealth stolen through an illegal action of the government, but who would you complain to if you supported other such illegal actions before?
Romney was absolutely correct to say that GM and Chrysler should have gone through the bankruptcy processess. Those laws were designed to handle all these problems, to decide who should retain assets, which liabilities to discharge, and so on. And it all would have been done without cost to taxpayers but for the cost of operating the courts.
What astounds me about most people who favored the GM and Chrysler bailout is their willingness to call their political opponents, fascists and other disgusting insults, and yet these same people fail to comprehend that corporate and government intertwining to this degree is without a doubt the very thing you purport to oppose. The more we bail out GM, or subsidize the Solyndras of the USA, or impose regulations that demand firms provide certain benefits (like the health care bill), the more we become the very thing you claim to despise. And, yet, Barrack Husseins supporters are actively pursuing still more of the same, all the while having no compunction about calling others fascists.
The logic is not only convoluted, it’s hypocritical.
BTW, how do all you Libbies feel about the criminal Eric Holders decision to NOT prosecute your favorite bogeymen, the banks, especially Golden Sacks.
If by "do well" you mean fall into utter confusion and end up running nobody, then yes, Republicans would surely do well to give Mitt Romney the boot. The problem with doing that is that the Republicans have focused entirely on Romney for the past few months after a protracted primary that resembled Rome's Year of Four Emperors. They have nobody else to put up; all the primary candidates have too many flaws, and the only reasonable Republican who could win is John Huntsman, and he would get slaughtered by the Tea Party idiots. With Romney, the GOP has a small chance (ironically); without him, they won't last 5 seconds.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
@Jan-21270
Jan, I think you are absolutely correct in your assessment. The recent drop in the polls reflects "Independants" moving away from Romney, and Independants are slow and deliberate in their choices, and once you lose them you do not get them back by pandering for their return.
After all, considering the extreme divisivness in this election (and in America in general), there's not going to be any meaningful movement among registered Republican and Registered Democratic party voters.
The competition is for the Independants, and neither candidate can win without a majority of Independant support. And the only way now that the Republican Party can pull out this election to win the White House is to free the delegates and have an open convention. They cannot win in November with Mr. Romney. Even the core of the Republican Party is uncomfortable with him as their candidate. Romney is still trying to reinvent himself to give the core of his own party a reason to trust him, and to vote for him.
Indpendants are just that, "Independant. And the majority of Independants are not turning toward this highly secretive, misanthropic and impossible to characterize current presumptive nominee, Mitt Romney.
Independants are looking for a candidate who stands for something, and believes in something -- and is on the record as standing for and believing in those things for more than just this current election cycle rather than standing for and believing in the opposite of those things previously.
"Grown-ups" are supposed to develop core convictions as they mature. An adult man in his 60's who has no demonstrated long-term core convictions is, at the very least, an odd duck, ....and deeply troubling.
Independants have figured this out about Mr. Romney, and he's not going to get back those that he has lost, nor those who will be lost in the coming weeks. If the Republican Party faces this reality, and a different candidate emerges from their convention as their nominee, they can still win the White House. But Mitt Romney isn't going to cut it, and more and more top party representatives are now realizing it each day.
I predict a brokered Republican convention, with Mitt Romney making a face-saving withdrawal (eg., "for the good of the party", or "for the good of the country", or "for previously unknown health issues"; either himself or his wife's MS, etc., or just the old standby "To spend more time with my family" (that's always a good one). How ever it comes about, Mitt Romney will not emerge from the Republican convention as the nominee. And if he does, we will see a Democratic Party landslide in Novemeber.
kennyw-2983735 "FOX NEWS is polling 50% more Dems than Republican's in THEIR poll?"
I hadn't looked at the FOX poll details before, but it appears that they too 'skewed' their poll in favor of Democrats - 44% Democrats vs 35% Republicans.
That 'sampling error' would account for almost the entire 9% difference favoring Obama, and if you make the 'Likely/Registered Voter' adjustment, it would also show a 4% advantage for Romney.
Funny how consistent the pollsters are when you know how to look at them - all showing Romney ahead by about 4% - completely at odds with the 'spin' attempt by NBC.
By the way - in reviewing FOX's track record for 2004 and 2008 - their record is not very good - In 2004, their final poll had Kerry winning by 2%, but Bush actually won by 2.4% - a 4.4% error in favor of the Democrat when compared with actual. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
ROY WILSON-336103
Stop! STOP!!!!
You're leading all the little limp-wristed Libbies into uncharted waters, FACTS!
You should know by now that they dont have any need for facts as their minds have already been made up for them by Barrack Hussein, the DNC and Debbie Whatsername Slutz?
LMAO!!! You know they're all scurrying over to MenialMatters or the Huff-N-Puff Post looking for someone to tell them how to argue your facts.
kennyw-2983735 "FOX NEWS is polling 50% more Dems than Republican's in THEIR poll?"
I hadn't looked at the FOX poll details before, but it appears that they too 'skewed' their poll to favor Democrats - 44% Democrats vs 35% Republicans.
That 'sampling error' would account for almost the entire 9% difference favoring Obama, and if you make the 'Likely/Registered Voter' adjustment, it would also show a 4% advantage for Romney.

Jon Stewart called Sean Hannity a "square-headed life support system for Roger Ayles' post-it notes".
Gotta love it!
First of all, the stimulus was $787 billion, not $863 billion. Secondly, a third of them were tax breaks, many given to SMALL BUSINESSES. Now let me ask you a question: why the hell would you hire someone if the government gave you $50,000???? Unless demand increased, you would use that to reduce debt or buy more inventory or things like that. Government jobs (primarily via infrastructure investments) stimulate demand since those people buy goods, increasing demand and increasing consumer spending, creating more jobs. In addition, the companies contracted to build roads order more materials, increasing demand and eventually leading suppliers to increase employment to handle the demand.
Yet GM was did not just give the government its losses; it became profitable in 2010 and became No. 1 in auto manufacturing in 2011, showing the investment made to be a real success.
Okay, give me proof that Obama broke the law by giving aid to GM. The money given to GM was money well spent because if the automaker had collapsed, the resulting shock wave would rip the economy apart.
Where the hell would GM gotten the capital to go through private bankruptcy??? Every financial institution either didn't have the capital to invest in GM or wouldn't; i.e the credit crunch of 2009.
Wait a minute; how was my wealth taken??? Via taxes??? Pensions or 401ks???? The bailout SAVED the company; without it the company would have dropped.
Yet those procedures are hard to do when there are no investors willing to risk their capital. As the lender of the last resort, the government HAD to swoop in to save GM or else face the collapse of the auto industry.
Wait, hold on a second; if the GM bailout favored the unions instead of the investors, how the hell can that make it a fascist act??? Unions aren't a part of a company; they are a separate entity. And like the banking industry bailout, we HAD to do it. We faced economic disaster and had to do something. And by the way, while fascism is a coalition of government and corporate officials, I think that a one-time bailout of a company that was CRUCIAL to the economy can be discounted. Now, government officials colluding with companies to, let's say, keep steel prices up and create a steel monopoly is fascism.
Wait a minute; regulating the economy is fascism??? While I can admit that the individual mandate without the public option is a giveaway to private insurers, it does balance the equation by putting regulations on what they can get away with. And America has a long history of subsidizing industries; the railroad industry received millions in grants and subsidies and a huge giveaway: the Transcontinental Railroad. I oppose corporations dictating government policy that benefit only a few people; subsidizing or investing in things like green energy benefits EVERYONE, and last time I checked the U.S. government is encouraging an entire INDUSTRY, not just one company.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
Whether the polls are correct or not, the only way we can keep Romney out of the White House is for the democrats to get energized and get out and vote. The RWNJ's are so much against Obama that they will get out and vote. There are more democrats than repugs so if we all get aout and vote we can win with the help of the Independents.
Amen, Woody! We need to make sure that every vote counts and that people get off their butts and vote! (and not just to retain our President ... there's a lot in Congress that need to GO!)
The GOP always digs for the bottom of the barrel for a candidate, but now, they have found the new low, beneath the barrel. This guy can't answer a question.
Platform: I will increase the size, budget, and scope of the US military---while cutting taxes and reduce spending.
Start more wars, give the military defense contractors more money, and continue to chop away at education, programs for our country's most needy, and the infrastructure. Really? Can he balance a building on his pecker?
Bring on the debates, one on one with President Obama and Romney will have to actually answer a question. At that point---he's toast. Give us a vague description of how he will accomplish these fantasy tasks--please.
Show us, the American people, your Income Tax returns, Mr Romney. I think we should expect that those should be relevant to holding the nation's highest office. You're no more than a suited grifter.
"It’s the middle of summer. It’s the doldrums. It’s the middle of the Olympics...”
Wrong.
IT'S THE CANDIDATE!
Roy Wilson,
STOP! You have learned well to lie like the FOX Murdock Rag does daily.
Who needs "waterboarding" when brainwashing seems to work so well!
It really makes me wonder why when its Romney's super pac, he says he has nothing to do with that and no control, but if its Obama's super pac its all Obama's fault. I know he is slipping in poll numbers, maybe people are seeing his hypocrisy for all its worth.
Jim Spence,
You are nothing more than another repugnant Republican (there are decent Republicans, they've just been drowned out by the extremist right), disillusioned by what the right professes to be reality (the country learned it's lesson during the Bush years, repeat a lie until it's mistaken for fact) and resorting to sophomoric name calling (listen to Limbaugh much?) because you don't have a factual leg to stand on.
Your long-winded rant on the bailouts was nothing more than the hot air of a maladroit malcontent. You didn't even account for the ancillary industries that would have been devastated by a GM bankruptcy. Had GM gone under we would have gone from a deep recession to a full blown depression. Also, at that time there was NO ONE willing to step in and pick up the pieces. The administration had already looked into that but why quibble over facts when they get in the way of your narrative.
Bottom-line: you are going to have 4 more years to stew about the president you hate and then you'll get Hilary in 2016.
Good luck with that!
Show us your education records from high school and college Obama. Why are you spending millions to hide them?
Obama tell us why you and Michelle have lost your lawyer licenses? The Illinois records show Obama lied about his qualifications and Michelle committed fraud. Why don't the liberal media publish this information.
Obama tell us about Larry Bland. He admitts to having oral sex with you. Are you really the first gay president or just part of your drug induced dissolute youth?
Obama let us see the records for Fast and Furious. You and Holder are hiding a horrible program that cost an agents life.
Harry Reid, show us your tax returns. You had to pay fines to the IRS, give us the details why? Kick backs from the Nevada unions ...again?
VOTE ROMNEY FOR PRESIDENT, stop Obama's economic insanity. Restore hope, transparency, and change for all Americans.
The Sentinel-419170,
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. You have liberal media making commercials and the President along with Reed and friends making statements that have no bases on facts but by forcing the Romney camp to answer to the baseless attacks they are doing what is intended, to keep every ones eyes off the terrible economy, high unemployment rates and record deficit spending.
What I would love to see is Romney state he is done talking about these senseless attacks and start dealing with what effects us now and will effect both us and our children in the future. The problem is if this is done the Democrats will loose miserably so to prevent such a terrible thing happening to them they will continue to sling mud and make up lies because people like you are sheep and not men. For once please provide proof to your attacks, or is it not possible because there is no proof to be found, just speculation.
I see the fisting deadhead is blathering away with all her "witty" one liners. So what would you expect from a fat pasty porker who lives in her mom's basement and collects welfare and lives on foodstamps. LOL LOL LOL
@Roy Wilson
Nice try cupcake.
Straight from the source themselves---FOX News/Opinion Dynamics Poll Methodology Statement
ON SAMPLING:
"Quotas are applied to ensure the sample mirrors the proportion of voters nationally. Specifically, the aim is for a gender split nationwide of 53 percent female and 47 percent male,as well as regional quotas.
They also point out that they screen respondents to see if they are registered voters. In the months prior to the election they may also screen more for "likely voters" and have a series of questions in place to ascertain this. What the cut off for the "months prior to..." was it didn't say.
So far I agree with their methodology. Good on them.
ON WEIGHTING:
Their words...
"When necessary, minor weights are used to ensure the demographics of survey respondents are representative of the national registered voter population (as measured by the national exit poll). Generally, weights are only applied to age and race variables. The Fox News Poll is not weighted by political party".
I looked at the details---the methodology Fox claims on their own website and it appears that you're full of it. Again.
Funny how consistent the bull crap is when you know which posters to expect it from.
Now if you want to have a debate on who is probably the best electoral prognosticator out there then I'm going to put my money on Nate Silver. His methodology is the best by far in my opinion,he has the track record (49 of 50 states, only missing Indiana, which he DID say would be closer than most anyone else thought and he hit all 35 Senate races in '08 as well...) and his Baseball Prospectus won me a boatload of coin in fantasy baseball for several years as well.
This is one of the nastiest campaigns I've seen in quite awhile. Interesting if you look at the candidates, neither one is something to brag about. Mitt is an unknown quantity, Obama has a record which is why the attack ads rather than bragging. Romney's campaign is pathetic, Obama has the liberal media and weasel Reid etc. pushing the crap and what does Romney's idiot campaign manager do? Instead of coming out swinging, the eejit simpers and makes Romneycare mouth noises.
If Romney loses it will be because Obama is really good at the Chicago Way and Romney isn't smart enough to counterbalance the slime and muck slinging. Obama getting re-elected is a seriously bad thing, his supporters will dance in the streets and then wonder what hit them (if they're intelligent enough to understand consequences)
Tbenton,
I fail to see the "pot calling the kettle black" analogy. Perhaps you'd be so kind as to show me where I'm guilty of such.
As for your foray into "liberal media making commercials" the only evidence I've seen of that is MSNBC, and that's just for promoting their shows, similar to what Fox does for their talking-heads. Can you provide or tell me which anti-Romney commercials were produced by other "liberal media?"
And just the term "liberal media" or "lame-stream media" has always amused me. IMO it is the duty of journalism to get to the bottom of any story, to reveal the truths and substantiate the facts. And that is precisely what the conservative detests. They don't want the truth to be told, they want to tell you what the truth is, i.e., see Iraq War, see Bush tax cuts (the lowest job creation in decades until the resultant 2008 crash), see Valerie Plame, see Fast and Furious (a Bush program by the way, excellent article in last months Fortune magazine if you'd care to read it), see Death Panels, see Affordable Care Act, see Medicare cuts within the Affordable Care Act (the elimination of the Medicare Advantage program which was grossly overcharging for services), see the Ryan Budget (your VP candidate now), see the restricting of voting rights in several Republican led states, see the Republican counties in Ohio get extended voting time while Democratic counties in Ohio do not, etc., etc., ad nauseum.
In the venerable words of Colonel Jessup, "You want the truth?!! You can't handle the truth!!!"
You're waiting for Romney to address the issues with more than lip service? Don't hold your breath. Why doesn't Romney show his tax returns? Every other president has, why not him? The ball was thrown in his court and all he's doing is traveling, double-dribbling, and kicking the ball out of bounds. When he should have shown character and strength and put the question to rest. Sucks to have him as your candidate.
Guess I'll just Baaaaaaaaaaaa, Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, Baaaaaaaaaaaaaa, through a second term, said the sheep to the lemming.
"pjam09 Comment collapsed by the community
"Obama - "I know I've failed miserably and have no record to run on, but Romney won't show you his tax returns just like I wouldn't show my birth certificate, and a birth certificate is actually REQUIRED to be president...."
Republican dupes aren't sufficiently intelligent to be retarded.
Here's how it works:
A presidential candidate must get on the ballots of all 50 states in order to qualify. That means he must prove to each state -- that's proving it 50 times -- that he meets the requirements for the office. Even the REPUBLICAN governor of Hawaii verified that President Obama was born in Hawaii as his birth certificate verifies.
But, no: releasing onne's birth certificate is not a requirement -- though President Obama has don that multiple times.
"but, I'll give you taxpayer-funded handouts for your vote."
If Democrats buy votes -- and racists insist that's the reality, even though the fact is that all politicians "bring home the bacon," or they don't get reelected -- that is better than stealing them, which latter is the Republican method.
Republican dupes are too stupid to be Americans.
Wingnuts are too stupid to get it: mainstream media is moderate, centrist; it is the majority media, and represents the majority view. Being addicts of Rupert "I Illegally Hack the Private Voicemail of Murdered Children" Murdoch's sewer is being addicted to an extremist foreign minority with an agenda from WW II Germany via Australia.
Romney's father, a Republican, established the precedent of presidential candidates releasing their tax returns, and did so by releasing twelve years of them. His son, Mitt "Mitt" Romney, a Republican, claims that the Republican standard is two years.
Mitt "Mitt" Romney has a problem: when he ran for Senate against John Kerry, Kerry released his tax returns. Mitt "Mitt" refused to release his because Kerry's wife didn't release hers. The problem with Mitt "Mitt" Romney's insistence that she do so is that she wasn't running for office, so was a private citizen, so her tax returns were wholly irrelevant.
Mitt "Mitt" Romney was, of course, trying to point away from his refusal to release his returns by demanding that a private citizen release her tax returns. Mitt "Mitt" Romney lost the election because Massachusetts voters aren't stupid, or suckers for deceit.
(Romney won his run for governor by being pro-choice, knowing that Massachusetts voters don't elect those who are determined to restrict others' rights to make private medical decisions best suited to their health and circumstances.)
Yo: Mitt "Mitt" Romney: your refusal to release your tax returns is a mortal wound that will lose you the election. It isn't that you can't "connect" with voters; it's that you refuse to be forthcoming.
Wake up, jerk: you aren't running for Private Citizen; and the rules are to be the same for all candidates. Want to play by a different set of rules? Then do so in the Cayman Islands.
Vote for Mitt Romney, winner of the Olympic Gold Medal in the Flip-Flop!
Next Week the polls may change!! Well I believe he knows what he is talking about. If the rumors are true that he picked ole make Medicare a voucher Ryan as Vice Presidential running mate, I see another -10 slip right out of the gate.
These people have no shame or morals. Calling the President low because some PAC made an unflattering political ad dose not come close. Go back and review some of the things the same bots said about the President, his immediate family, his mother, his mother's family, his birth, his birth certificate, his education, his school records, etc., etc., etc., and we start to get a glimpse of what is really, really low. I thought that the young lady that responded about meeting in the middle was a good response, but, IMHO these people are so low that they need a step ladder to crawl up over an earthworm. Just one old, near sane, man's rant.

Perhaps you have a comprehension problem, because your post merely supports my analysis, to wit;
1 - 'The Fox News Poll is NOT weighted by political party'.
2 - It SHOULD be because they polled 44% Democrats vs only 35% Republicans, when surveys by both Gallup and Rasmussen show slightly more registered voters that ID as Republicans than Democrats.
Since exit polls show that 90% of those who identify with a political party vote 'party line' (consistent in both 2004 and 2008), that means a sampling error of 7.2% - biased in favor of Obama.
If you deduct that 7.2% sampling error from the 9% FOX poll difference, you get a far more accurate estimate of a 1.8% lead for Obama among Registered Voters. Then if you adjust for the 'Registered/Likely Voter' disparity (link below), you get a REAL lead for Romney of about 2.8% - easily within the margin of error for Gallup and Rasmussen, who show a 4% advantage for Romney among Likely Voters.
http://www.polimerican.com/adults-vs-registered-vs-likely-voters/
Roy, you are totally fixated on proving your point that the media has skewed multiple polls, and your man Romney is actually leading. You have now made six or seven mind-numbingly lengthy and tedious posts in this one thread alone to argue your opinion which you cannot actually prove. So you are twisting and distorting and cooking the numbers to match your preconceived argument. What you are doing here on this thread is pretty disturbing, Roy. More so if you actually believe what you are pushing, as opposed to just shilling.
It appears to everyone reading your posts that you simply cannot accept the truth, so you manufacture your own facts. I hate to be the bearer of uncomfortable news for you, Roy, but that meets a definition of .... delusional.
Roy, no one is buying it. Move on. Get a life. That horse is not going to get up and trot no matter HOW long you kick it. The horse is DEAD, Roy! I suggest you bury it because it's really starting to stink up the place.
I don't think the Romney campaign is capable of switching tactics EVER. As they continue their foot-stomping, name-calling, bus tour, I fully expect his numbers to continue to sink.
Obama/Biden 2012
Agreed, Layton.
"When the Romney campaign finally reaches the high ground, we look forward to greeting them there."
Ouch. Though I don't think anyone should be holding their breath waiting for that to happen. So many polls have already shown that people aren't voting FOR Romney as much as they're voting AGAINST Obama. If that's his base, he's kind of stuck now with having to keep them fired up. And if he starts running only positive ads, he 's stuck with bringing the focus back to all that "I spent my entire life in the private sector" stuff - i.e., Bain Capital and tax returns.
Rock, meet hard place.....
The problem is that the "anti-Obama" is not likeable enough.
It is interesting.
I wonder how many conservatives on these forums would vote for Romney because they like him and think he would make a good President, as opposed to voting for Romney because he is anyone other than Obama?
The ones I talk to outside these forums are really not that impressed with Romney, they just want to see Obama out of office.
There are other Republicans they would rather have as a candidate.
The Republican convention may prove interesting if this is representative of the way the party is thinking. Perhaps Mitt may be the first one to win the primaries and not get his party's nomination?
@CPO,
Hmmm, and could these be the same people who voted for anyone except Romney in the primaries?
Admittedly Chris, they could be the same people that voted for anybody but Romney.
Which might indicate that they felt that none of the candidates the Republicans put foreward represent their views?
That might explain why the lead changed so often?
It is probably a calculated risk. They don't seem to give a sheet about what anybody thinks. No disclosure, removed hard drives, living in Utah and Massachusetts simultaneously, being CEO, chairman, president and sole shareholder of Bain Capital, which sounds like a lot of hats :) and at the same time, had absolutely no involvement in Bain Capital. This sounds like a wonderful company - it runs without a CEO, chairman, president or any shareholders.
There's another story out there about the founding of Bain Capital. It appears that when he couldn't raise enough capital from legitimate sources to create the company, he finally got the start up money from the Right-Wing Salvadoran Death Squads that were murdering and 'disappearing' thousands of people in that country at that time. He was the broker for the Death Squads. Bain Capital was created with "BLOOD MONEY". http://cocomoeawc.newsvine.com/_news/2012/08/10/13220797-mitt-romney-started-bain-capital-with-money-from-families-tied-to-death-squads
Well Chief, it seems pretty clear to me. The traditional Republican Party (Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, even Ronald Reagan) is dead. Even the few previously moderate candidates turned hard right this election cycle. Republican members of Congress are being threatened to swing hard right or face being "primary'd". Take a look at who is advising Willard. Former members of the Bush Administration and other peripheral neo-conservatives.
Those who consider themselves traditional Republicans or conservatives have little choice but to either hold their noises, dumb down and join the NeoRepublicans or become conservative independents.
@CPO,
If you look at any poll aggregators, you will see that Obama has led since Romney became the presumptive GOP candidate. There has not been a day that Romney has been ahead in all polls combined. A good place to look is:
http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/
Ladbrook's (which has picked every presidential winner since Teddy Roosevelt) says Obama by 4-to-1. 538 says Obama has a 73.3% of winning to Romney's 26.7%.
Ol Doc: Have you noticed, many of the old-school Republicans are leaving government service....many because they are sick and tired of the lack of consideration for what is ACTUALLY good for their constituents, the threats from people like Norquist (if you don't play my way, you don't get to play at all), and the total lack of compromise we see in today's government? I, for one, don't blame them, but I wish they would get backbones and stay and fight their fellow Republicans!! Maybe if enough of the Republicans who are just a little right of center would kick the others to the curb, we'd see some bipartisan participation and things getting done!!!
Didi-376564 - I know this is going to sound a little insane, but I morn their passing. A solid conservative "loyal opposition" is actually a good reality check. Unfortunately that does not describe the current "Republican" party. They do not see Democrats as their "loyal opposition", they see us as the enemy. Unfortunately I don't see the two sides coming together. This election holds no healing experience. Conservatives seem to feed off of fear and it would appear they fear us as much as the do Muslims. What I'm beginning to see is one of two outcomes. Either we are severely attacked by an external force (something much worse than 9/11), which "might" bring us together, at least for a while...or we go our separate ways (probably violently). If anyone has a third logical alternative that doesn't involve an invisible, omnipotent deity, I'd like to hear it.
You know all it would take is a few Obama supporters along the way to wave signs that says show us your tax's every time he stops. But on the other and he is just going to fly to each state the next morning to start the tour again. But it would be fun to see them do it.
Ol_Doc? Doesn't sound insane to me at all. But please don't allow politics and media to influence your opinion on the general goodness of folks. I have many friends and family who are extreme conservatives, and yet, we all get along over some BBQ'd roast and ice cold beer....maybe a pitcher of sweet tea, and some spicy hot wings? I think....politics is a bit like Kabuki theater. All props, over the top masks and exaggerated motions. But when a real disaster strikes, or the need arrises, we put our differences asside, and come together to help one another, because we are all one community! I think Carl Rove, Roger Ailes and Newt Gingrich have done our political system a grave disservice, all in the name of "winning". I believe history will not be kind to them.
Ol Doc-
I think you're right. I miss guys like Barry Goldwater. I don't think I ever agreed with him, but you could always see his point, and he knew that there was always some kind of middle ground.
Too much of the tea party movement is based on ignorance and propaganda. The rank and file of the tea party actually believe they're part of a grass roots movement. They don't realize they're being manipulated by the Rupert Murdochs and Koch Brothers of the world.
The problem is that the string-pullers saw early on that their radical ideas were gaining traction, and they're becoming more shrill and more extreme nearly every day. I don't think the Koch's really give a whit one way or the other about gay marriage, contraception, or abortion, but they've seen that these hot-button topics play well with their base, so they're letting them run wild.
The left has, out of necessity, started swinging back and (finally) showing some backbone. I'm not a big fan of negative campaigning, but if you're in a dirty fight, you have to fight dirty or lose.
Hopefully soon some of the real Republicans out there will tire of all the histrionics and hysteria and stand up and push for real Republican candidates again. They've already lost some good ones, and more will fall if the GOP doesn't learn to control their backward cousins.
Chris-749391,
Instead of going with the Liberal mouthpiece New York Times, why don't you look at the Rasmussen polls that have shown both people switching leads back and forth. As to your predictions of Romney loosing in a landslide, take a look at Wisconsin and you will see how people are reacting to Obama and the Liberal machine. Obama will lose and lose badly.
Because Rassmussen is a right-wing outlier.
Get it through your head, dupe: MAINSTREAM is MAJORITY. The polls you REJECT are MAINSTREAM. Sucking on Rupert Murdoch's lollipop is the equivalent of putting a loaded gun in your mouth and pulling the trigger.
Tbenton "Chris-749391, Instead of going with the Liberal mouthpiece New York Times, why don't you look at the Rasmussen polls that have shown both people switching leads back and forth."
Don't confuse him with Facts, his mind's already made up.
Interestingly, I took 4 separate polls (NBC/WSJ, NPR, PEW, and FOX), and when I made the adjustments because they all over-sampled Democrats - by as much as 52%, and then made the standard Registered/Likely Voter adjustment (see link for explanation), they were all in agreement within 1% - Romney is ahead by about 3% among Likely Voters.
http://www.polimerican.com/adults-vs-registered-vs-likely-voters/
JNagarya "Because Rassmussen is a right-wing outlier."
That's what they said in 2004 and 2008 too, until he had the most accurate polls for those two elections - missing the actual spread by only 1%, and his so-called 'bias' was virtually non-existent - unlike virtually ALL of the other major pollsters that were biased in favor of the Democrats, when compared with actual results.
The average error for Gallup, Reuters, FOX and Marist all had errors of about 3 times as much as Rasmussen, and their average bias in favor of Democrats was about 9 times as great as Rasmussen.
The left wing orchestrated campaign of misinformation about Rasmussen doesn't stand up to scrutiny - at least not in the Presidential elections. They just don't like his results.
not likely. Obama has the narrative and the willingness to get dirty. A typical republican accusation ; ie dirty politics.. seems to be the go to weapon for Team BO .. AND ITS WORKING!! ..
i for one never bought his "new era of politics line" because as example.. you can really cream the other guy by calling him a murder and a tax cheat, when your standing on the worst economey since the great depression. If jimmy carter had done this perhaps even R Regan would of lost...
but whatever it takes to win!! thats my motto.and finally i agree with Obama on one thing.. go dirty when you have nothing convincing to say about yourself.
joshua
I assume that is why you are throwing out so many insulting names above...
Nothing can save Obama, not even importing foreign criminals in exchange for their votes.
Revenge? Joshua? I spoke to my Realtor friend on Monday & she said she was "swamped" and did I know anyone who she could hire as an assistant. Recently the city I live in has landed some very large contracts with some big businesses. Thanks to our POTUS the housing industry & the economy is getting better (in spite of the Republicans) and I think your hatred for our POTUS and negative doom and gloom posts about the ecomomy shows EXACTLY how you feel about our country ......NEVER bet against the Americans!
pjam09 - Nothing can save Obama, not even importing foreign criminals in exchange for their votes. Yet another stupid lie from the far right. But you've got nothing else so I expect we will continue to see a new lie every day!
Obama/Biden 2012
Hi Seeking,
For pjam, it's the same old song and dance and has been for quite awhile. That two step is mighty stale. We "get it" that pjam doesn't like our President. It doesn't matter what the President does. If President Obama walked on water, pjam would criticize him for not knowing how to swim (yeah, I stole that from someone)
There is no doubt our political system is broken. Mitt Romney is not the guy to fix anything. Mitt is the poster child for EXACTLY what is wrong with our political system.
I don't see the system getting fixed so long as extreme views on either side are allowed to "frame the argument".
You get accused of dirty politics when you tell the TRUTH about Romney.
Your campaign is in trouble when your loudest response to an attack ad is a whine.
Peace...
I really wouldn't force-feed to much credit for any available new jobs to the President...he has attending more than 200 campaign events and fundraisers since the last time he actually sat down and had a meeting with the so-called "jobs Council" he, himself had apoointed. I guess he's been too busy.
But I do get the drift...if there's any negative news, it's the fault of either House Republicans or George Bush...but if there's any postive news, Mr. Obama is to be handed all the credit...or at least a staff member can whisper the news in his ears between fundraising speeches.
I guess Mr. Obama simply lives in a time when kids get shiny trophies just for showing up, but doing nothing.
If Romney wants to play clean, then go ahead anytime. His SuperPAC buddies have been doing his dirty work for months against both Republican AND Democratic opponents (how ironic is THAT for the Flip-Flop accusations?). Why is Rmoney so whiney? If he loses this election, it is just one more thing he couldn't purchase what must be earned. PROMISING that he can do a better job WITHOUT a shred of a plan aside from his incredibly vague 59 point agenda (round it off next time, Mitt. After thirty, we expect multiples of five, at least). I'm sorry, but this Anybody But Obama idea is bad. Tomorrow morning, for those of you that commute, look at the guy next to you at your first stop light and ask yourself, "Would this guy actually be better?"
Having been both an Army Medic and a civilian Paramedic, I recognize the last desperate gasps in the throws of a death-spasm when I hear them...Do you hear the Republican Party?
...I do.
I can't imagine why the aids in Boston are perplexed with the polling data, they should know that romney is not even going to carry their state and probably not any other state up the Atlantic coast either. We had a very nice vacation in Boston and New England (from Baltimore to Boston and every state in between - lovely part of the country) and we did not meet one single working/middle class person who liked romney or was going to vote for him. Ouch, that's gotta hurt, I should know, I'm from the state that Al Gore did not carry. Lesson learned, you should probably care more about your own home state in presidental efforts, it was a serious downfal for Gore and it will be the achielles heal for Romney.
Union Baby -
Hmmm, interesting thought.....if you polled Republican voters as to which state Romney was governor of, I wonder how many would say Utah or Michigan or some other state instead of Massachusetts? He doesn't exactly advertise it, does he? Could that be because people in your neck of the woods might then mistake him for being a moderate (or even, gasp, a liberal!), instead of being "severely conservative"? Or is it another way of distancing himself from RomneyCare?
P.S. - Next time you're driving from Baltimore to Boston, stop in and say hello - I'm only about a mile off of I-95!
JoAnne -
I was just in Baltimore a few weeks ago, a short stop on our way to Ocean City, MD for our annual beach vacation.
My wife's grandmother lived in Shrewsbury, PA and before she passed away we used to stop by every year to vist her. I really missed it this year.
Note that Romney says nothing about Massachusetts. And he can't: the Republicans have for years bashed the state as "Liberal".
There have been interviews with voters -- women, especially -- who voted for McSame, but are now going to vote for President Obama. They don't trust Romney -- refusal to release tax returns; attacks on Obamacare and women's health concerns.
As the old saying goes "You get what you pay for - " Conservatives/Republicans don't trust their candidate. They just hate the President so much that they don't have any choice but to back Gov. Romeny.
Funny watching a clip on the TV the other night during the primaries when Ann Coulter which I personally can't stand stated that if Gov. Romeny won the Primary that the he would indeed loss to the President, and you should have seen her on Foxanity show the other night totally lossing her mind over the Press Sec. state promoting Gov. Romeny's record in Mass. on health care. Very entertaining!!!!!
Ann Coulter has a mind to lose? I thought she was a mannequin stolen from a store window, and the only thing in her head was a microchip planted by Karl Rove. That "woman" scares me.
Almost as much as Rachel Maddow scares me with her asinine talk.
(show me the clown nose, fisty!)
As for Coulter, and for that matter, Sarah Palin, beauty is only skin deep. Some of the most beautiful women I know - are beautiful because of their hearts and minds, not because of their partisanship, or..... their looks.
Ann Coulter that has no political power scares little Amy from Portland Maine. But not the tax and spend liberal Chellie Pingree that helped to turn Maine into a welfare state. Poor Chellie Pingree is so in touch with Maine, especially when she is flying from Washington to her lavish Virgin Island home on her billionaire husbands private jet. Yeah Amy, someone that writes books you don't have to read, or makes the rounds on talk shows you don't have to listen too is so scary. But an actual bought and paid for politician like Chellie Pingree is your hero. What a liberal clown.
And they may continue their lack of attention all the way through Wed, Nov 7th!
Too bad for B.O. plenty of people actually are paying attention, not that MSNBC would inform the sheep of reality:
Optimism about economy down, poll shows
"The number of people who say the economy is starting to recover has dropped 5 points since April, from 24 percent to 19 percent, while the number who say that the economy remains in a downturn is up 6 points to 39 percent, a CNN/ORC International poll released Friday shows.
"That all seems bad news for President Barack Obama's re-election chances,..says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland."
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/optimism-economy-down-poll-shows-093440014.html
I disagree, I think they are paying attention and that is why Romney is tanking.
pjam09 - I still hear that rattling, gurgling noise pjam.
...do you?
One month, after Romney is selected at the GOP convention, he will be UNELECTABLE!
The Dems know something about this man and they will tell everyone what it is after the election.
The Romney campaign seems to be always on defense, instead of taking the lead.
Funny how you choose to believe that "lead" is the opposite of "defense". America is sick of the negative ATTACK ads, but that is all Obama has, that is why Romeny has to be defense. Obama wants nothing to do discussion of his failed job performance.
pjam09- Sorry your candidate sucks. Even the FOX NEWS POLL has Obama up by 9. So tell me pam, WHAT ARE ROMNEYS SOLUTIONS?
He behind in part because he HAS NO IDEAS. And hes HIDING SOMETHING in his un-re;leased Tax Returns. His 59 point table of contents is just a vague outline with no specifics. He says he can create 12 million jobs in his first term (chuckle) How?
Since Pam here is SO into Romney, she must know what his policy prosals are, right?
Pam, tell us Romneys SOLUTIONS for unenployment and the debt ...ready...GO!
Most of the recent polling is Democrat heavy in the sampling. The Fox poll was of registered voters and not likely voters. Of those polled by Fox only 4 out of 10 said they were paying attention to the race, and of those more were for Romney then Obama. So we shall see when everyone is paying attention this fall if the numbers being reported remain the same. One thing for sure, over reporting a candidates lead is not always smart, especially when would be voters think it is in the bag so no need to turn out. Carter lead Reagan by 8 points heading into the election and lost by 10, which pretty much proves the inaccuracy of polls.
oh haven't you heard 2-lane gypsy? Mitten's gonna cut the taxes on the richest, once again. Like that works so well for the rest of us

Obama/Biden 2012
Rick-3416939 - I'm guessing you're still in the first stage of grief.
Denial is usually only a temporary defense for the party. This feeling is generally replaced with heightened awareness of possessions and individuals that will be left behind after defeat. Denial can be conscious or unconscious refusal to accept facts, information, or the reality of the situation. Denial is a defense mechanism and some people can become locked in this stage.
Once in the second stage, the individuals within the party recognizes that denial cannot continue. Because of anger, the party is very difficult to care for due to misplaced feelings of rage and envy. Anger can manifest itself in different ways. Members can be angry with themselves, or with the other party, and especially those who are close to them (RINOs). It is important to remain detached and nonjudgmental when dealing with a party experiencing anger from grief.
The third stage involves the hope that the party can somehow postpone or delay defeat. Usually, the negotiation for an extended relevance is made with a higher power in exchange for a reformed lifestyle. Psychologically, the individual party members are saying, "I understand I will be defeated, but if I could just do something to buy more time..." People facing less serious trauma can bargain or seek to negotiate a compromise. For example "Can we still be friends?.." when facing a break-up. Bargaining rarely provides a sustainable solution, especially if it's a matter of congressional minority.
During the fourth stage, the dying party begins to understand the certainty of defeat. Because of this, the individual may become silent, refuse visitors and spend much of the time crying and grieving. This process allows the defeated party member to disconnect from things of love and affection. It is not recommended to attempt to cheer up an individual who is in this stage. It is an important time for grieving that must be processed. Depression could be referred to as the dress rehearsal for the 'aftermath'. It is a kind of acceptance with emotional attachment. It's natural to feel sadness, regret, fear, and uncertainty when going through this stage. Feeling those emotions shows that the person has begun to accept the situation.
@Rick
One slight little problem with your hypothesis/spin/deflection there buddy...if only 4 out of 10 in the DUMFUX poll say they're paying attention since it's a DUMFUX poll probably the only media they pay attention to is DUMFUX itself.
That means the 6 out of 10 who aren't paying attention are actually better informed as they haven't been immersed in the DUMFUX propaganda for the past several months.
They'll probably poll WORSE for Romney as a result.
romneys only position has been on his knees.
Romney is not moving left or rt...he is just being himself...flip flopping on every issue. Mr. pander pants has one leg that was left and another on the rt. He has to be on both sides of evey issue.
That's true Polls can change next week, after Romney will choose one of the right wing nut jobs for a VP, Obama will widen even farther his lead....
Whom ever he picks will be better than idiot Byedum
We'll let America judge this November...lmao
In 40 days Romney will be UNELECTABLE. Just wait and see.
He is such a master of the flipflop he is now predicting the poll flips and flops....or has he and his team found the direct deposit to payoff the pollsters buy the polls path? Never underestimate the repub propaganda and covert operations of the Rove run machine, pretty soon they will try to own all communications and the only thing you will be able to trust is communication in person.
With over sampling of Democrats being reported in almost every recent poll, it would seem you are accusing the wrong party of buying the pollsters. Any poll of registered voters instead of likely is almost worthless. But if they make you happy then good for you.
He's even flip-flopping his own campaign tactics!
TO: Rick-3416939 who wrote:

American Girl-724855, don't worry about their polls. They'll commission a Rasmussen poll and Rasmussen will design the questions with just the right slant to give them the conservative results they are designed to give that they want. Rasmussen is a conservative pollster who designs their polls to elicit a more conservative response, a few percentage points in the direction they want, than would a poll with completely neutral questions.
The longer Willard refuses to release his tax returns, the more he will drop. What's most telling is his "Nervous Nellie" laugh whenever asked about releasing his taxes. That laugh shows he is lying or is in some way hiding something. Don't take my word for it, ask any law enforcement detective.
I agree, he does not pass the visual lie detector test, he would be more calm and talk sincerely and firmly without a laugh. He looks like a rookie poker player that is getting his bluff called by the seasoned card players.
Best, description I have seen yet of this empty suit.
He is a guy who as a CEO has always been surrounded by sycophants and never been questioned. All he has ever had to do as the rich kid born on third base is,listen to his,own press clippings about how great he is.
Now sunlight is interfering with his fallacious view of himself and the results ain't pretty in terms of utterly unprepared he is for the combat of Presidential politics as well as anything substantive to get the nation moving again.
Hey John Nail, Ha, perhaps Romney should have spent a few years "community organizing" that seems to help.
Once the actual Romney campaign begins after the convention, along with the Super PAC's lined up against Obama, some lame tax issue that only liberals are crying about will be long forgotten. It will be Obama on the daily defensive over his failures and lack of leadership. The Obama divide and conquer campaign strategy will be taking a beating. Should be fun to watch.
Why release anything trust me Odumbos IRS have gone over them with a fine tooth comb if there was anythingt there it would be out. besides according to Harry Reid theres non to relase so STFU dickhead.
BigBear, the poker player analogy was spot on.
Well that is the point, if there is nothing to hide why not release them, why "take the fifth" when all squeaky clean and innocent. He probably has broken no laws, but feels that his taxes would be politically damaging to him, if he thought they would help his campaign, he would have released them long ago.
Translation: Our corporate masters will spend billions of dollars to buy this election.

"Once the actual Romney campaign begins after the convention...".
Sorry I was too busy convulsing with laughter to read any further.
Um,if his "actual" campaign hasn't already begun then what the Hell has Team Mittens been spending 100's of millions of dollars on?
Buying votes for Ann's dressage horse?
(oops...that didn't turn out so well either...wonder where the horse was outsourced to afterwards...my guess is the glue factory.)
He just appears so phony, he acts like he can't make up his mind which lie to tell when he's questioned by reporters. That's why he rarely gives interviews except to Fox. At Fox, he and the interviewer can practice the questions and answers to make him more believable before the actual interview.
Sounds like what Romney is truly ticked off about but won't admit it is Citizens United. The idea that a superPAC can avoid collaborating with a campaign is naive nonsense. Too bad for him the Democrats can exploit this just as well as he does. As they say, you can't blame Obama or any other candidate for bringing a gun to a gun fight. If Romney prefers knife fights to gun fights, well he's only got his own party to blame for stacking the Supreme Court with fellow "corporations are people" Justices.
Mark my word today, 8/10/2012, that Mitt Romney will be UNELECTABLE in forty days. Then we will vote every GOP incumbent out of office this November.
We need to every Grover/Rove stooge out of the House and Senate!
And the original "Dream Team" was the best of all time! (Basketball)
Republicans have been campaigning against Obama since the day he took office, they have called him everything and blamed for everthing under the sun. What else can they say in the next three months, that has not already been said a thousand times. People can see who the president is really is, and they can see who Romney really is, and they are choosing Obama over Romney, it's that simple.
Yup!
I strongly disagree with you Forrest Gump. Obama, for the most part, has been given a pass on every failed initiative he has attempted, and every failed promise that he made.
The national polls, on average, have Obama leading by just 4.4%. That's pretty poor considering Obama was/is a wartime President who was in power when Bin Laden was captured. He should be leading by double digits.
But, he isn't, and that should be a concern to folks like yourself who seem to think that November is going to be a cakewalk.
ZMan2012, the President got a bump in his approval rating after bin Laden was killed (not captured) but it's not the driving issue of this election. The recession was a crushing blow to most folks - my 401K took a 40% nose-dive! But things are turning around and that's what's most important.
Romney might fare a little better in the polls if he'd give us something solid on his plan for jobs, tax reform and turning the economy around. But all he offers is "anything but Obama" and that's just not good enough to get folks mildly interested (let alone, excited).
I'm encouraged by these latest polls, but I certainly don't feel the election is a cakewalk.
It's Grump not Gump ZMan, I never say it will be a cake walk, but Obama will win because most of the country does not see his initiatives as having failed as much as just having been blocked by republicans at every turn even when they were originally republican proposals. He has not failed on every promise he has made, the big failure and a big part of Romney's political problems are house republicans who were swept in on a promise of job, jobs, jobs, and then completely abandoned that promise, and did nothing but promote conservative social issues. They have the lowest approval rating in the history of those recorded numbers and many people will take out their disdain for them on the republican presidential candidate, they sure are not going to reward them with a republican president. In the end the problem is largely Romney himself, he is not new he has been around for years, and has a long history, so it is not so easy for him to just reinvent himself, too many documented contradictions, he does not excite republicans one bit, they don't even know who he is, the only thing they can say for him is that he is not Obama. Vote for me I am not Obama, will just not cut in a general election. Come to think of it now that his campaign spokesperson was bragging up Romneycare some republicans are no longer sure as they would like to be that he is not Obama.
Forrest,
I asked this yesterday, and I will ask again today.
If Romney is so bad, why is the race so tight?
thetotas -
Three good reasons, off the top of my head:
1) Bad Economy - It is getting better, but there are still a lot of people out of work. They will give Romney (or anyone else) a chance to convince them it can get better faster.
2) Millions of dollars in negative advertising - Romney & pro-Romney Super PACs have bombarded the airwaves with ads that take Obama's words out of context. Some of them, liek the Welfare ad, hit home to un-informed voters who don't know its a "blatant" lie.
3) "ABO" - Anyone But Obama - most Republicans hate President Obama so much (for varying reasons) that they would vote for the Devil himself if he had an (R) after his name.
I will answer your question with a question Thetotas, if Obama is so bad why isn't it a blowout for Romney.
I won't go on my full rant about those wormy unpatriotic pukes that publicly stated right after Obama won an electoral landslide by the American electorate that their one and only top priority was to see him fail, to make sure he was a one term president. I'll leave it at this I believe their Waterloo strategy has failed them, as well it should. Unlike some republicans the electorate does not blame a single man for all our woes, they waterlooed the republican brand as much or more as they did Obama. According to some republicans if Obama went to hell he would be on a throne and the devil would be packing. So again I'll ask the question if Obama is so bad why is it not a blow out, the answer is he is not that bad and Romney is just not that good.
TNSEVOL - So you're one of the whopping 19% who actually think the economy is improving??? You need to get out more often.

Forrest, don't forget about the 15 senior members of Congrees who met in secret, conspiring to block any and all initiatives proposed by President Obama. Their stated goal was to make Obama a 1 term President.
Attending the dinner were House members; Eric Cantor, Jeb Hensarling, Pete Hoekstra, Dan Lungen, Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan and Pete Sessions. From the Senate; Tom Coburn, Bob Corker, Jim DeMint, John Ensign and Jon Kyle. Newt Gingrich and Frank Luntz attended as well.

Is this what the "Republican" party has become? That certainly doesn't look like Republican idealogy to me.
Its all shes got. I asked her to tell us Romney's SOLUTIONS and POLICY PROPOSALS. She can't do it , and no other knuckledraggin birther on here can either.
Where are Romney's ideas? Where are his specifics? Where are his TAx Returns.
Romney has NOTHNG for the Middle Class. Romney has NO CORE
Oh JT don't get me started I am with you 100%. Remember when this same crowd said it was unpatriotic to publicly criticize Bush because he was a wartime president and doing so would "embolden our enemies and put American lives in danger". What the hell happened to that line of thinking the day Obama was elected. How many people would be fired if they refused to do their job, simply because they don't like the new boss. These guys took an Oath of Office to represent the US to best of their ability, I don't think there is anything in there about trying to sabotage a presidency because you don't like the guy the American people selected. It is damn near treasonous and republicans should pay a price for tolerating such unprofessional, unproductive, and unpatriotic conduct by some of the highest elected government officials who are supposed to work for and represent the best interests of the entire nation. It's not right, it will never be right, it is way beyond politics, they crossed the line, and the American people will not be blackmailed as to who will be their next president. Friends don't let friends vote republican.
That's exactly their problem. They have attacked the President for so long with so much crap, the shock factor has worn off and they have nothing. Least of all a viable candidate.
Pjam - Do you hear that deep rattling sound in the collective throat of the Republican Party? Just re-read your own posts...you may hear it.
I think you are right Ol_Doc, the public has been told over and over the moat ridiculous things about Obama, he has no birth certificate, he is a Muslim, death panels, socialist, communists, Marxists, Nazi, and all manner of quite silly over the top insults, to such an extent that now even legitimate criticisms are rendered virtually meaningless. Meanwhile the republicans shot themselves in the foot with their Waterloo strategy, because in trying to deprive Obama of any accomplishments they also deprived themselves of any accomplishments. So now when they rail "whatever it is that ails you, it is all Obama's fault he is the devil", most people just take it for just what it is, the silly ramblings of a bunch of sore losers who accomplished exactly what they set out to, which was absolutely nothing. Welcome to Waterloo Mitt.
If Barry is reelected it will validate the fact beyond any doubt that the voters of this nation are in fact a bunch of naive, ignorant morons who do not have the mental capacity to see through the facade of smoke and mirrors that define the pathetic presidency of Barry. His agenda is defined by taxation and spending, as his sole purpose in life is to reduce this nation to a second class socialistic society. By the way, his discrimnatory tax proposal will not become reality as the GOP controlled House will stuff it and every addtional spending proposal that increases the debt.
You're "tone" is a bit over the top.
But, I agree with you for the most part.
No as an Indy I think Romney is an @$$h0le, plain and simple. Get off your high horse. Must enjoy finger pointing and ranting and blabbing about nothing.
The GOP controlled House is a big part of Romney's political problems. They have done nothing to build any momentum for a republican presidential candidate. Welcome to Waterloo Mitt.
Willierd - President Obama lowered taxes not raised them. Do your homework.
Frosty Gump - The GOP House was put into place by Americans in 2010 to stop what Obama was doing to the nation. In November, when Obama is removed from office, they will finally be able to stop wasting time defending against his attacks and actually start working with the new president on cleaning up the mess left by the last 4 years.
pjam09 - No, the GOP was put in Congress to help get the job market going. They promptly blocked every proposal he made that would encourage jobs. Try again!
President Obama will NOT be removed from office! He won't be voted out either.
Obama/Biden 2012
Ok if you want to play with monikers "Still In My Pajamas" so be it. The GOP House was put into place by Americans in 2010, on a promise of jobs, jobs, jobs, if they were elected to stop Obama then why do they have the lowest approval rating in the history of those recorded numbers. If what you said was true they would have a tremendous rating with the American public. BTW only a four year old would believe that the mess was created in just the last four years, however a 12 year old can discern that the mass was created in the 8 years previous to Obama's presidency. Republicans in the house have not helped, they did not even attempt to help, in fact it is this "we are only here to stop the president" mentality that is responsible for them being a little less popular than STD's, and is a drag on Romney's candidacy as well. It makes Obama somewhat of an underdog a candidate, and Mitt just a dog of a candidate.
Forrest Grump, you got it all right! Agreed, 100%!

Either way, the Teagaggers who ran for Congress did get what they wanted: A lifetime of health insurance and life insurance for them and their family members at the expense of the American People, i.e., Cadillac Plans, and pension paid for by the American Taxpayers who the Teagaggers have been fighting AGAINST since they landed in Washington!
Unfortunately fot all the Romney supporters who keep pointing at the economy..well, sorry guys. You all will have to find a different song to sing. In the news yesterday was a piece about the home industry. Guess what!? Its turning around! Theew was an interview with one of the largest home builders in the country where he said they were building more homes now than since 2007 plus home prices were rising. Aw shucks. What a shame. Job growth up, home sales up, stock market WAY up. Now what are you going to complain about?
Pam...why dont you answer my Question?
What are Romneys JOBS Plan? Hw about the Debt? Policy Proposals?....Anything?
Pam, if you your candidate cant provide policy proposals to turn the economy around, blaming Obama isnt good enough. So again I challenge you....What are Romneys Solutions?
Thats right. And another tiddbit from the latest Jobs report from July is that there will be an UPWARD REVISION to the last 1.5% GDP number.
Really pjam - I could have sworn the TeaBaggers ran on a promise to improve employment from day one. They lied pjam. And now they will pay for that lie. . . . can your hear the rattling sound?

What??? No news from MSNBC that Reids charges about income tax turned out to be full of lies???? Media policy is no good news about Romney...and no bad news about Obama.....Lies are OK with the media...maybe even prefered....
If you know something we don't... please share!
If Harry was in fact lying, why doesn't Willard release his returns today and ruin his arch nemesis career?
Until Willard proves otherwise, Harry is correct!
PS: Why hasn't John McCain who has seen the tax returns come out in Willard's defense?
Instead he chose Bible Spice! lol
J.A., I agree with you about the mainstream media, and its cream-puff handling of Obama, dating back to the beginning of his first campaign for President.
The tax returns non-sense is just an attempt to deflect our attention away from Obama's failed economic agenda.
Eventually, people will see through it and look at his poor record in office.
Feisty....dont be so stupid....Check the other new outlets....it is there. You are apparently stuck on the pro-socialist and nothing else news. Romney did release the amounts of payments to the IRS for the last two years...Isnt there just an ounce of honesty with you????
Zman...I would hope that you are right....But I think that it is possible that the American public has regressed to the point of no understanding or believing reality.....Remember, there are more and more people dependent on the government...and who will they vote for?? Trash talk from Obama seems to be working....isnt that wonderful? Isnt it wonderful that people admire that?
Then why can't you name one or better yet, provide a link?
So again, provide a source or STFU!
Really?.....Well then, Why isn't there an IRS or a justice department investigation under way, if Mr. Casino is correct?
Obama's justice department would nail Romney to the wall if it could. So the fact that no investigation is underway, is proof positive the Reid's, and the Obama camp's charges are nothing more than election-year "chatter."
Because it isn't his job to defend Romney. McCain isn't even part of Romney's campaign staff.
Just do a search...Reid aid divulges details....and several sources will come up.......Of course you are not going to admit or believe the honest truth...It just isnt in you to be honest.
Really?... Well then you have no idea what you're talking about!
Harry never accused Willard of doing anything illegal, he said he had not paid taxes prior to 2010!
Why won't Willard prove him wrong?
I'll tell you why, because he CAN'T! He knows Harry is telling the truth!
I'll give old Johhny credit for recognizing a sinking ship when he see one! lol
Just as I suspected - you got NOTHING!
Thanks for playing! ;o)
Harry Reid is telling the truth??? Wow, Harry Reid has told lies so long that he doesnt even recognize the truth......Feisty...you are truely a lost soul. A brainwashed lost puppet for anti-America. And, you think it is playing???
This is the third time I am asking YOU to prove Harry is lying!
You claim to have sources but refuse to disclose them, which proves you're another dime a dozen pathological lying troll!
Bottom line is you CAN'T just like Willard!
YUP!
I love making cats chase the string of yarn! ;o)
I googled it and can't find anything on Romney releasing tax payments.
Link, please!
Ok JA .. I'll play if it will get you to stop posting your bag O' lies. I'll even post from your news favorite, Fox News. Now where in the citation below, does it say Reid's aide 's charges about income taxes turned out to be full of lies?

My definition of the word is "to take back". The word does not share it's definition with the word lie. I realize as a Republican you might have difficulty with the word lie, but lie is really not defined as: advantageous propaganda; even though FOX uses it that way.
So, you dont believe that Reid was out and out lying? Just made another little mistake?? And he does it over and over again. He is a liar and if you dont understand that you are unbelievably naive....You can be fooled by Reids lies and then continue to make excuses for him....
I see where you have slithered back...
For the FOURTH time, PROVE Reid is lying or STFU!
Don't you morons ever know when to quit?
Seems like what happened to OBAMA about his Birth Certificate, Now that the shoe is on the other foot the REPUBLICANS and TEABAGGERS don't like it. Well I guess it's time for them to put on their Big Boy undies if they want to play....
Feisty
Don't you morons ever know when to quit? No they sure don't. Remember that these are the same morons who had Michelle Bachman, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, and Rick Perry all in front of their absolute last choice, MITT WITT Romney.
Feisty....You have just empressed me as a truely disgusting person....But, I am sure that you have experienced that many times......I will not reply to any more of your slime trails....Unlike you, I am not just saying stuff for fun....Seriously...disgusting...
Polls could change next week?
They will.
We will start getting numbers from the Senate and House and find out the Republicans will be shown the door there to
Yea, wouldnt it be wonderful to continue the policy of the decline of our country???
Hey... Einstein... the word is TOO...
You meant to say 'the Republicans will be shown the door there too'
(Word of advice: learn the difference between to, too and two if you want people to take you seriously!)
Typical liberal loon... obviously public school educated... all the way through the 6th grade!
(now show me the clown nose, fisty!)
UAW - Real polls are already showing that Obama is finished... you have to look at real news sites if you are too dim to figure it out on your own:
Optimism about economy down, poll shows
"The number of people who say the economy is starting to recover has dropped 5 points since April, from 24 percent to 19 percent, while the number who say that the economy remains in a downturn is up 6 points to 39 percent, a CNN/ORC International poll released Friday shows.
"That all seems bad news for President Barack Obama's re-election chances,..says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland."

Don't worry, we're not going to let Romney get in, and we're NOT returning to Republicans' failed policy of "tricle down economics" that never trickled down!
Obama/Biden 2012
The other question that I have is why is the socialist left so ignorant and anti-american??? The are truely pathetic....not really american in any sense of the word...
J.A. (presumably Jack Ass abbreviated), just not boot lickin' American in your sense of the world
Just before lapsing into final unconsciousness and respiratory arrest, the patient often suffers an involuntary loss of bowel control. Up to now I thought I heard the death rattles of the Republican Party but after reading your post I think I smell something too. It smells like terminal desperation.
Sick

It doesn't matter. Too is "also" where to is just to.
What matters is that every single GOP incumbent, Grover/Rove follower, is voted out of office this November.
too too too- Republican crying on election day
Yeah, Governor, the polls could change next week. Know what could also change next week? You could start being truthful.
But I guess we all know the odds of either of those happening right?
"People are not paying as much attention to this process as we think they are, as we'd like them to."
Translation: "People aren't swallowing our lies and evasions as much as we were led to believe they would."
And yet Democrats have been the only ones caught airing propaganda lies about an imaginary death from lost health benefits.
No, in fact they haven't. Every article I've read so far has stated that that ad has never actually been aired. But again, there's still a difference between a group supporting Obama making questionable claims (though the situation may still have been worth discussing in other terms), and Romney and his immediate staff repeating over and over how Obama is eliminating the work for welfare requirements. That's just so far from the truth either Romney's entire team are willfully lying, or they're complete idiots. Which one of those explanations would make him a good president?
i agree it will change obama 90 romney 0 undecided 10
Headline: Romney camp: Polls can change 'next week'
Well, they can only hope.
But I can predict that polls will change. Obama's numbers will get larger.
You might to pay attention to the real world sometime... Obama and his failed job performance are tanking.

"Romney camp: Polls can change next week"
I'm an economic conservative and I wish Romney could win but it now looks like the election is over with. Romney's problem is to win the nomination he had to be an extremist about unimportant things like abortion to suck up to Christian scum, so he has permanently lost the women's vote.
Yes, the TP/GOP want government to be small so it can fit up your vagina.
plan for the middle class my ass.come on mitty boy,you have no clue who the middle class are much less any type of plan to help them.quit lying to the american people and go away-please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll admit I'm no Alfred Einstien, but
...the word it TOO...
Were you home schooled?
The polls are not going to change for a simple reason. The amount of undecided voters. Of course Dec 21 2012 may come and we will all be swallowed by a giant ant. Romney's Karma is not good and will stay that way...
sargent....You believe the Obama karma is good??? The socialists are relying on karma? That is just wonderful.... The crappy economy is overshadowed by karma? People are going to vote for karma and to hell with anything else?
When Obama was sitting at Bill Ayers table....did they share that good karma?
Bill was helping the exchange student!!!!
Check the POTUS college transcripts and admission
records and Bill was doing noble work!
The Romney campaign said the polls could change next week. Yes, they might even be worse for Mitt.
JA Call it Karma, call it charisma, whatever. Mitt just don't have it.
It is hard to convince folks to vote for someone they don't like.
Loyal...And Obama and his buddy Ayers do have it??? Your brilliance is just overwhelming...How about Karl Marx? Do you think he had good Karma?? Too bad Che isnt on the ballet....automatic Karma votes from the left....
Ah come on, give Herman Munster (Romney) a break. And if he choses Eddie Munster (Paul Ryan) for a VP we'll all get a little entertainment out of this campaign.
just sayin'
Why do you fellows keep going back to those old dead people, to disparage???? Don't ya know any modern day villains to hate???? Karl Marks, really???? Shaking my head and smiling big Howdy Doody smiles!!
Yes, you are probably well known for your Howdy Doody smile.....and the shaking thing....
JA Why can you guys only answer observations with an irrelevant deflection? How does "ya but he/she /somebody did it first" make any sense?
The topic was Bishop Romney's difficultly in connecting with the multitude. How can you segue that to Karl Marx without looking ridiculous?
mute is a FELON , why is he not in jail ????? anyone of US PEOPLE would be,,,, if we did what he has done !!!
