Subscribe to RSSRomney sat down for an interview with Bloomberg/Business Week. There’s this exchange, in which Romney declares, “I’m not a business.”
BLOOMBERG: “Let’s frame the issue around your tax returns in a slightly different way. If you’re an investor and you’re looking at a company, and that company says that its great strength is wise management and fiscal know-how, wouldn’t you want to see the previous, say, five years’ worth of its financials?”
ROMNEY: “I’m not a business. We have a process in this country, which was established by law, which provides for the transparency which candidates are required to meet. I have met with that requirement with full financial disclosure of all my investments, but in addition have provided and will provide a full two years of tax returns. This happens to be exactly the same as with John McCain when he ran for office four years ago. And the Obama team had no difficulty with that circumstance. The difference between then and now is that President Obama has a failed economic record and is trying to find any issue he can to deflect from the failure of his record.”
He even was asked about that photo of him holding a dollar bill with his colleagues at Bain. Romney said: “Oh, that was a moment of humor as we had just done what we thought was impossible. We had raised $37 million from other people and institutions who entrusted us with their funds, and we thought it was a miracle that our group had been able to be so successful in fundraising. And ultimately we were able to yield for them a very attractive return by such investments as Staples, which was in our very first fund.
So it’s a happy memory. We had a great group of people, each one of whom I think of fondly.”
And about his time at Bain: “You lose your money and people can lose jobs. That’s always devastating. And I learned that not every business will be successful, even those that have been carefully selected and thoroughly evaluated. … I have never believed in my own ability to succeed at everything. I recognize I’m a human being like everybody else and I make mistakes, and fall short time and again.”
The Washington Post’s Blake: The health-care law which shall not be named is starting to get mentioned. Twice [yesterday], Mitt Romney’s campaign has cited the health-care law he signed as Massachusetts governor — seeking credit for something it took pains to explain away during the Republican primary race. Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul, responding to a harsh new super PAC ad featuring a man who blames Bain Capital for his uninsured wife’s death, broke new ground for the campaign by praising Romney’s health insurance mandate.”
And: “Obama’s health-care law remains perhaps the biggest arrow in the GOP’s 2012 election quiver, because it so motivates the GOP base against the president. Romney has been criticized for enacting a very similar law in Massachusetts. He was largely able to finesse the issue in the primary season and gather conservatives to his side for the general election. But there remain some concerns that his own health-care law may make it harder for him to prosecute the case against Obama’s law. Top conservatives, including radio host Rush Limbaugh, were quick to criticize the move.”

lie, lie, lie. One year of tax returns. The one "in progress" does not count. It can be changed to anything on Nov 7, 2012.
The tax issue didn't follow McCain for 20 years. McCain didn't appear to have financial skeletons in his closet like the mysterious IRA account or the 1999-2002 Bain CEO questions.
and Romney didn't have an issue asking Kennedy for his reurns in 1994 on the basis of the public's right to know:
"It's time the biggest-taxing senator in Washington shows the people of Massachusetts how much he pays in taxes," Romney said in April of 1994, according to a report in the Boston Globe.
So Mitt, you have an issue in 2012 releasing YOUR tax returns because you're affraid that the voter might find out (what they already suspect) that you are a lying, cheating hypocrite?

romney craps all over himself daily. if he doesnt come clean and release his taxes this will be the non-ending issue and the poor use of an abundance of money.
I am not as concerned about the amount of taxes Romney paid as I am about the question of where he lived if and when he paid them. Did he live in Mass? Was he a legal resident of Mass when he ran for/served as Governor there? Was he a legal resident of Mass when he voted in those elections?

Solve this: Muslims eat beef, but not pork. Hindi's consider cows sacred and have no problem with pork. State university funded by tax dollars wants to stock the school cafeteria. There is a bird flu epidemic, so you can't pick chicken. What do you do? One person's lifestyle is another person's religious abomination. One person's choice is another person sees as a threat to his/her family.
When a Democratic Liberal speaks he tells the truth.

One thing to consider on both sides. The candidates have NO say about what superpac ads spew. That is the law according to the SC and citizens united..(I always smile when I see that name and think about who it really represents). You think this is a campaign of lies and deceit on both sides, Not possible. Only the superpacs lie. But you can't blame them, no one knows who they really are. What a wonderful concept.
And money has nothing to do with who wins. And all dems hate guns,. and all repubs hate society.
And these are all facts. (according to some individual somewhere)
It's isn't what Romney is not, it's who he is, and we don't know he won't tell us. My guess is he doesn't know who he is either. Of course who he is today is totally different from who he'll be tomorrow.
When I watch Romney talk, or read what his is quoted, I just think to myself..he is going to start slobbering pretty soon, because nothing is coming out but lies! I agree with you Bayllie!

Romney created more net new jobs in his time at Bain than Obama has created during his entire presidency... Staples 90,000 jobs, Sports Authority 15,500 jobs, Dominoes Pizza 175,000 jobs...
Obama imported 1,800,000 illegal job seekers! He doesn't care about the Union members picketing all the illegals employed by the Ross discount dept store building contractors all over the country! How does that help Union labor jobs? How does this help middle class America?
