OAK CREEK, WI — As speculation over whom Mitt Romney might choose as a running mate reaches a fever pitch, one of the Republicans rumored to be on the short list — Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan — is going on vacation.
Ryan told reporters here that he is taking his family to Colorado, beginning Saturday, for a weeklong trip during the summer congressional recess.
"I'm just doing my August schedule as I planned my August," Ryan said, adding that he will first spend the next two days campaigning in Northwest Wisconsin for local candidates.
Friday, Ryan said he will spend the day in his native Janesville preparing for his trip by getting his tent and backpack ready.
Meanwhile, speculation has grown surrounding just when Romney will name his No. 2 has grown; some believe it could come as early as this week. That, presumably, would take Ryan out of the equation if he maintains his current schedule and heads to Colorado.
Ohio Sen. Rob Portman and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who are seen as the other top VP contenders, are campaigning for Romney this week. Portman has five events Wednesday in Colorado while Pawlenty has scheduled events in Michigan and New Hampshire through the end of the week. Romney kicks off a four day, four state bus tour on Saturday.
While Ryan's name has been mentioned more and more in the past few days, the congressman brushed that off.
"I think that's just because of the convention. Its volume," he said while greeting folks at Oak Creek's National Night Out event.
Ryan commonly refuses to discuss his VP chances — as he did tonight when a constituent asked him about it — but said Tuesday night he will definitely attend the GOP convention in Tampa.
"Scott [Walker], our governor, we're doing a beer and brats thing," the congressman said, adding that he wasn't sure whether he would have a speaking position at the convention.
"My staff has talked to Reince [Priebus]. I haven't talked to Reince," Ryan said of the Republican National Committee chairman and fellow Wisconsinite."I haven't talked to Reince in awhile."
Ryan was scheduled to speak at a vigil later Tuesday night to honor the victims of the shooting at the Sikh Temple Sunday in his district.

Ryan would be a really big dark horse candidate, would bring lots of trouble for Mitty. The Republicans would get attacked morning noon and night about the Ryan budget, and the effect on the middle class and poor.
Romney still wants to keep that his little secret.
Along with his taxes.
.
Half of the Repubs are running away as fast as they can and the other half are following Romney around like dogs in heat going "Pick me, pick me".
I think the first group knows something the second group doesn't.
.
newday
Anyone would be better than Biden and his worthless boss. What a miserable failure this administration has been for America.
The Republicans have been attacked morning noon and night since the time Obama got in office so they are used to it. You aren't telling us anything new.
Romney has made as many of his tax records public as he needs to. You libbies just have to live with it.
Give it up, JH. It ain't going away. It will Romney's Waterloo.
When were they miserable? When they were avoiding the economic meltdown caused by the Cheney/Bush Administration?
Biden is someone that you ought to admire. When his wife and daughter were killed, he raised his kids. His rep in Congress was as the guy that went home.
I really get tired of the disrespect shown Biden by people like you.
And JH: Mitty is applying for a job. We libbies DO NOT have to live with his refusal to provide information. We can and will vote against him.
Biden is an idiot, no disrespect, just the truth. I do not admire him one bit.
It is funny a libbie saying they're tired of hearing disrespect. I am sure that the 15%'s who love this progressive/liberal BS we are seeing from this miserable failure administration will not vote for Romney but I don't care because Obama and Biden are gone in November.
Tony - what are you sucking on?
The conversation is pointless. Romney's not going to get elected! Get used to saying President Obama for the next four years...followed by eight years of President Clinton...
JH: You HAVE heard of the electoral college, have you not?
Guess what?
Doesn't favor Romney.
Romney would have to run the table to win the Presidency, and he just isn't doing it.
So, like DG_W says, get ready to salute President Obama.
Biden is a useless burden to Obama, but Obama is a burden to our Country. Biden is just plain ignorant, rude and obnoxious. Has not done anything in the past 3 plus years exept put his foot in his mouth.
Who would ever solute that guy, needs a mental eval.
newday
Just keep following your liberal slanted polls. I don't believe the election will even be close. President Obama has shown the world what a miserable leader he is and everyone is waiting for real change. Republicans will win back the Senate and will keep the House and Romney will win the White House. It will be a good day for America and a very sad day here at MSNBC land.
1/20/2013 - the end of an error
LEAN FORWARD libbies - this won't hurt a bit
AmericaFirst - Some people HAVE to salute him. Otherwise I'm sure they wouldn't.
Are you saying AmericaFirst, that all the armed forces need a "mental evaluation" for saluting their Commander in Chief?
Liberal slanted polls? Even Fox News and Rasmussen are showing Obama easily winning a second term. Heck, Fox is even showing Obama winning the popular vote.
LOL! "Easily winning a second term"?
I think you may be stretching things a bit, VADem. Rasmussen today has Obama up 46-45 with 4% undecided. You call that 'easily winning'?
I do not think Biden is an idiot. I recall that in his years in government (pre-V.P.) he did not get chauffeured about, but rather took public transportation (buses and subway) to get where he needed to go. The way I remember, he knew the names and life stories of the drivers and many of the passengers he would see every day. This would make him a person of the people; someone I would be glad to represent me if (God forbid) the need arose.
But maybe you think it would be better to have a president on a dancing horse refusing to talk to you ("you people").
CubsFan,
The Electoral College is the SOLE means by which we elect presidents, and President Obama has a commanding lead on the electoral map. Who cares about popular vote polls? They mean nothing and are the only numbers that show this as being a close election.
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/archive/2012_electoral_college_scoreboard
JH: I realize that this is way too specific for you, but the electoral college map is not a poll.
BIG DIFFERENCE, and the difference means the Presidency.
newday,
The Electoral College map is made based on polls of individual states, the only polls that actually matter. That being the case, President Obama holds a massive lead.
And the Electoral College is still a toss up. Keep dreaming libbies. Your guy is going to piss off quite a few more Americans in the time left before the elections. He can't take losing and as soon as he realizes he's losing he will actually LOSE IT. He'll start throwing so much mud that it will all come back on him. It will be fun to watch.
You libbies have a good night.
Incorrect. Currently President Obama has secured 247 electoral votes on which he can depend, Romney has 206. Of the remaining "swing states" Obama leads in every single one (if we go ahead and assume NC and MO are Romney's.) Meaning that President Obama only needs another 23 votes, Romney needs 64 of the remaining 85. Basically, there are dozens of combinations that get Obama to 270, only a few for Romney, but he must win almost every remaining swing state and he cannot do it without Virginia, Florida and Ohio.
Sorry VirginiaDemocrat:
The Electoral College is made up of electors from each state. I am not sure what you are saying in your post to me.
The last electoral count I saw had Obama with 290.
I'm saying that the current Electoral totals are based on polls.
If the election were held today, using only data from conservative pollsters the result would be:
Romney: 206
Obama: 332 (Winner)
Ah, let us compare the great VP choices by McCain vs. Obama from a conservative standpoint.
Biden, a widower and raising his sons without his wife due to a family tragedy. Bible Spice's daughter raising her daughter without a daddy due to her getting down with the stud next door.
Biden, pressing on with his political career in spite of personal tragedy. Bible Spice, divorcing herself from politics by resigning as governor (with a small g).
Biden, a man who loves the electorate and is willing to address the 'people'. Bible Spice, hates the little people and uses political power to fire her sisters ex-husband that just annoys the crap out of her.
As they say, that is the tip of the iceberg, something Bible Spice knows a lot about. Joe Biden, a truly honorable human.
As Dick and Liz the heartless say .. she sure does look good. I say, sure she does, as long as she hides the Dorian Grey painting.
Calling Biden ignorant, rude and obnoxious is simply a reflection on the poster. One ugly disgusting piece of pond scum (apologies to pond scum .. you are actually useful).
@ new day They salute the position not the man people in the Military don't salute the man' they salute the mans position, dumb Fuxk.
Okay, VirginiaDemocrat, semantic difference.
Just looked at Huff posts count, they have the President at 281.
Yes. It only takes 270, but it is a measure of how the President is doing.
And so D Buck: they salute President Obama as Commander in Chief, which is what I said.
Why did you find it necessary to pretend to call me a vulgar name? Is that the best your limited mind can do?
Is anyone else having as much fun watching the bickering between the Papillon and VADem as I am?
Really, like who? You racist bigots have already made up your minds, so to the average American, there really isn't much Obama will do to piss off quite a few more. The only thing in front of American voters is a return to Bush policies via Chia Pet Romney, or stick with Obama with an improved Congress.
Well done RedDev!
Wow Cubsfan. Always so pleased when someone recognizes a Papillon when they see one.
Bickering? Nope, just straightening out a miscommunication.
newday,
I think Huffington Post is being a little presumptuous. Sure, Obama will likely win Ohio, but it's still close enough to consider it a tossup.
I go by the conservative pollsters like Rasmussen Reports for a reason. If Obama still has such a massive lead, even with the right-wing bias, I can feel so much more confident.
CubsFan,
We're hardly bickering, all we're debating is how badly your candidate will lose this fall. You enjoy that huh? The one thing on which we both agree is that Romney cannot and will not win this election.
If popular vote was the law of the land,It would have been President Gore. If the Republican stacked Supreme court, which despite it's many political ties, had been excluded from voting to stop the recount in Florida, My Goodness, what I different world we would have had under President Gore! No Wars. No 9/11, because he would have respected on the intelligence and acted upon it. How much further we would be in green technology and in International pacts to end global warming.
Now if we did a civics test for whites only, I would score 99 percent. If we did a test on current events, statistics have found that Fox News watchers know less than people who watch no news at all. Could you pass a test? Just saying.
I guess I look at Nate Silver's stuff to be far more reliable anyway.
I can see the usefulness of the Rasmussen Reports in this instance however, since they do have that right wing bias.
Huff post is just faster.
What we agree on, and what is true is that Romney has a very narrow path to attain the White House. He is going to have to run a perfect race, and he has not done that so far.
I am more optimistic about Ohio. I think Kasich has pushed it over the edge. I think Ohio will go Obama.
NewDay, I knew a girl who had one once. I'm not much for dogs, but I prefer smaller ones like the Papillon to anything larger like a Shepherd or Rott.
VADem, your prognosis for this election betokens your keen sense of optimism but little else. Obama will not win all the swing states you ascribe him. He's losing ground quickly in key states like VA and OH. His gay marriage stance isn't helping matters any. 25% of Independents in FL say they are now less likely to vote for Obama. Keep in mind that Obama only won Florida by 2 and a half % in 2008.
@ newday Its the way you worded your comment, as though they want to. fact is its just military custom, its also supposed to be returned Obama fails to do that. I only threw in the final statement because I found your comment to be obnoxious and rude to our military.
CubsFan,
Incorrect. First, President Obama's stance on gay marriage hasn't changed a thing. Anyone that has a problem with gay marriage is likely a solid Republican vote no matter what. Second, Obama's lead has only increased in Ohio, there was a time when Romney was slightly ahead in Ohio, now president Obama's lead in Ohio exceeds the margin of error. As for Virginia, Obama is still leading and history is on his side. No incumbent president has ever lost Virginia after having won it in the previous election. Considering Obama's lead in Wisconsin and Ohio, Florida and Virginia become irrelevant as those two put Obama over 270.
It would seem that you're the one that's overly optimistic. It is mathematically impossible for Romney to win.
In the future we will have to do away with the Electoral! it messes up the system.
Okay, I am completely puzzled. Why would you take such umbrage at a statement of fact? The President is the Commander in Chief, it is that way so the civilians maintain control over the military. So perhaps you could explain your outrage to me, because I simply don't get why you took that personally?
CubsFan: the little dog in the photo is my Papillon, Jolie. Her best thing is obedience, Paps being very smart and very happy to get applause. She was considered quite the prodigy in her first weeks in school as a puppy.
She has a collie as a companion, and she bosses him unmercifully, Paps thinking that they rule the world. Fortunately, my collie is very benevolent and treats her displays of diva temperament with kindness and a smile. Since she weighs 10 lbs, she is fortunate at his relentless good nature.
Sorry, didn't mean to double post.
newday,
My Italian Greyhound is the same way. At 13 lbs, he still thinks he's one of the big dogs. One of his best friends in the neighborhood is a Great Dane, lol! (Of course, it's worth noting that all Greyhound breeds are known for being incredibly unintelligent dogs. They're built for speed, not thinking, lol!)
VADem, I stand by my statement regarding Independents leaving Obama. I won't bother reposting my reasons since I gave you the whole article Saturday night. It's on my avatar.
NewDay, I've got a five pound Shih Tzu mix. She's got a terrible habit of walking around the house on her two back feet. She's pretty talented. The smarts and trainability of a little dog are the one thing I'll give'em.
VirginiaDemocrat: I LOVE IG's ! Love them. So fun to see them float when they move. And the first friend Jolie made at Obedience School was a Bernese Mtn Dog. Jolie weighed 5lbs at the time.
CubsFan, our favorite weekend guest is a Shih Tzu mix. And I would LOVE to see your dog do that.
My collie is a Blue Merle, and is currently learning to be a therapy dog. I think he will be quite good at it.
CubsFan,
You don't need to. You're the only person that seems to think your blogs hold any relevance. The simple fact is that with Ohio and Wisconsin, Obama has more than 270 electoral votes. Even the conservative pollsters show Obama winning Wisconsin and Ohio and their data is outside the margin of error.
So again, Florida and Virginia both become irrelevant, because even if Romney won both, he'd still be short of the 270 needed to win, but, the fact remains that Obama is still leading in both.
Night all, enjoyed the chat!
Messrs. Portman and Pawlenty would do well to follow the lead of Mr. Ryan and enjoy a vacation.
Four years should be just about long enough.
Speaking of Italians - Greyhounds or otherwise - have you all seen Romney's Italian Job
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-08-06/romney-persona-non-grata-in-italy-for-bain-s-deal-skirting-taxes.html
I think Obama is on to something - the "Romney Hood" moniker is right! Romney sticks it to the Italian taxpayers, the American taxpayers and anyone else he can when it comes to avoiding paying taxes.
Why would we want Romney to be our Commander in Chief - after reading the information from the link, it would be fair to say that Romney would be Pillager in Chief.
An abridged version of the following post originally appeared as comment #998.3 in the forum attached to the article titled "Romney Keeps Wrestling with Tax Returns Claim," published on 8/6/2012. It has since appeared in additional forums, in one variation or another, also here on MSNBC.com. It is now included below, in this particular forum, in furtherance of an ongoing, reasoned, and principled discussion regarding the independence of the Office of the President of the United States.
_______________________________________________________
Reviewing the comments posted across multiple forums over recent months here on MSNBC.com, it's good to see other posts emerging with regard to the Mormon faith of Mitt Romney. I, myself, have a number of questions about Mormon doctrine, with specific regard to how LDS precepts might influence public policy should Mr. Romney or any other devoted Mormon ascend to the office of the presidency.
In particular, I join with other concerned citizens from across this land in calling to task the aggressive nature of the Mormon Church, emanating out of Utah, in bankrolling across state lines expressly political initiatives which seek to deny fellow citizens equal protection under the law and full access to the broadest possible range of civil liberties guaranteed to them under multiple amendments to the Constitution of the United States.
Further, as the Office of the President wields incredible political powers, both expressed and implied, I believe that it is incumbent upon us to understand, as best we might, what the Mormon church hierarchy would likely expect and/or require of a practicing LDS chief executive, including the degree to which Mormon religious precepts might influence the following:
Nominations to fill vacancies on the Supreme Court and in Federal District Courts, including Courts of Appeal.
Staffing considerations at the Department of Justice, EEOC, and other entities established to preserve and protect individual liberties.
Appointments to Cabinet-level positions and any number of ambassadorships and consular generalships worldwide, including the United Nations.
Appointments to head each of the various administrative agencies throughout the federal government.
Issuance of Executive Orders which either directly or indirectly restrict or inhibit the exercise of personal freedoms on the part of specific and essentially targeted populations.
Formulation of budget and/or program priorities which fund or facilitate those same freedoms.
As there is so much which an incoming President can do to transform the breadth and scope of executive power, my concern is insuring that my President remains faithful to his or her obligation to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States without regard to the preferential treatment of any faith, and in particular, without regard to a specific set of religious precepts long-associated with exclusionary social practices while simultaneously cloaking itself in an unnecessary and uncompromising secrecy.
If you believe that the Mormon church hierarchy would never seek to influence the actions, choices, and decisions of a duly-elected supplicant, or to refrain from establishing an unspoken though clearly understood LDS litmus test for nominations and appointments to critically important federal positions, if not the single-most important policy positions within the administration itself or of what has always been intended to remain a fully independent judiciary, or to demand, expect, or otherwise require abeyance to a faith-based series of exclusionary policy imperatives, then scroll on and find your own issue to espouse or debate.
As for me, and as I would hope for a growing number of other contributors to this forum as well as for citizens of an informed electorate across this nation, no other issue is paramount.
I have no illusions as to the righteousness of my argument, nor do I seek or wish to engage in mindless tit-for-tat over whether Mr. Romney's opponent, President Obama, has himself at one time been unwittingly co-opted by prior long-term membership in the independent ministry of an angry, bitter, and largely marginalized former pastor from Chicago, a one-time mentor of Mr. Obama who has long since been publicly and irrefutably disavowed. To me, there simply is no comparison.
The Mormon Church has an effective reach of global proportion, an unlimited and essentially self-perpetuating source of funding, and a far more comprehensive social, political, and theological agenda than anything Jeremiah Wright could have or would have ever dreamed.
It is precisely the nature and extent of that agenda, and its impact on the independence of the Office of the President of the United States should Mr. Romney emerge victorious in November, which should warrant the attention of us all.
So a few of Mitts tax forms the liberals want, how come Obama is spending 4 million to keep his passport and collage records a big secret? It is Ok if Obama dose not want you to know, but Mitt has to tell all? Liberals have nothing to run on and they need to dig into Mitts life to find faults to exploit. Lets get back to what Obama has done and what he has failed to deliver. Still waiting for that "Hope and Change" that never happened. Wait, if Obama wins in November, is that another job saved or created under the Obama plan? As for Paul Ryan, I would like to see him take on Joe in a debate. Paul could use Obamas record and Joe would have no idea what the number represent. Just the interest on the debt would be over Joes head. It would not even be a close debate, Paul is a wiz with facts and numbers! And As I see it, liberals do not want any "government" facts to be used in any debate this election year!
DIRTY LIARS!!!!
Obama, Reid, Burton, every last one of them.
They are the problem our country faces. And must be defeated in November!
Vote for success. Vote for growth. Vote for Romney!
olddog
So tell me, how many times do you have to be told that this crap came from a worthless chain email and has been debunked many, many times. If you are so gullible as to believe those lies all I can do is feel sorry for you.
People like you are just what the GOP/tp wants, low level and completely uniformed.
You libbies can crow all you want about obumbo but he is in big trouble and you know it. Mitt will win in a landslide and there's nothing you loons can do about it. Ha Ha Ha
Mitt/? 2012
I don't care about polls, just want the people in the states with STATE ISSUED I.D. law to grt the I.d. and vote! Thing all the people who had died trying to get the right to vote. They were murdered ,homes set afire, bombs in churches, bitten by dogs. Many were put in jail! Go get your photo I.D. and vote! Don't let these new laws stop you from vote .Beat them at their own game!!!
@je
Instances of voter fraud are miniscule at best. Show us proof of wide spread fraud which has been proven to be true and was successfully prosecuted. It's like Sasquach and the Loch Ness Monster. Nobody has actually seen it. It's just an excuse for conservatives to attempt to restrict peoples voting rights.
People like you are the problem, not the answer.
Cubsfan,
Get with American civil process. Popular vote means nothing, remember bush43 winning both times with the lesser popular vote. You need to look at electoral vote and that isnt very close. Being a Cubs fan everyone knows your view of reality is heavily skewed.
To the people complaining about Biden, most Congressional leaders - both Republican and Democrats -hold him in high regard. He is a man with ethics, integrity and a great deal of foreign policy experience. Does he make the occasional gaffe - oh yes! But, even with that, he is a good man and a great VP.
Dennis Price - when posters knowingly lie, as JE is doing, it proves they have nothing BUT lies to back their candidate. Pretty sad, isn't it?
Obama/Biden 2012
Some idiot on this page says, "Lean forward, libbies.", and then says to go backwards by voting for Romneyhood. What a joke.
I will be much happier once Romneycare is sent back to his Mormon buddies for the second, and last time. Bye Bye, Willard! Don't step in any dressage! LOL.
Always glad to see creeps like Willard fail when they try to buy something that should be earned.
By reading just from this point on up I discovered 1 thing? The conservative are getting more angry and hateful!! This might be the fact that President Obama has a 72% chance to win and Mitt Romney only has a 28% chance to win. People see whats happening here and the Conservative are mad, well buck up kids and good luck in 2016!!
Willard will end up with Pawlenty or Portman. None of the "young guns" of the senate are willing to sink their rising stars by attaching themselves to the coattails of a dishonest, unethical loser.
@SeekingSanity
I think the worst part is, many of them actually believe the crap they post. I can't tell you how many posts I've seen where they got one of those chock full of lies chain emails and believed every single word of it. That's kind of scary, that they are so week minded that they think all that garbage is real.
The scary part is that these low information individuals actually spawned children. Those poor kids have no chance at all. I hope they can successfully say, "Would you like to Super Size this order sir?" That's in the "tea" leaves for them. (pun intended)
MSNBCMFE.....well worded bigotry disguised as a discussion. You sound like someone who worried that Kennedy would be controlled by the Vatican. I love to read these blogs on MSNBC otherwise known as the official media site for the Obama election campaign.
I keep reading this defense of Romney that he is such a good man because he contributes MORE to Charity than anyone else.
Okay, so…
I went to the web site where you (and everyone else) can see Mitt Romney's two tax returns, as well as President Obama's 12 tax returns.
I copied the information from Romney's and Obama's Form 1040, for their AGI (Adjusted Gross Income or Taxable Income), and also the Schedule A, Line 19, for the amount of their Gifts To Charity.
After doing a little calculating, this is what I discovered.
In terms of ACTUAL DOLLARS given to Charity
Obviously Mitt Romney does give more actual dollars to Charity than President Obama. That's only logical, because Romney is wealthier and has a lot more dollars than Obama does.
However, in terms of PERCENTAGE OF TAXABLE INCOME...
It is extremely clear, without any doubt, that
If you don't trust my numbers, go to this site and check it out for yourself! Like President Obama, I have nothing to hide. (Too bad Mitt can't say that!)
Tax History Project, Presidential Tax Returns
http://www.taxhistory.org/www/website.nsf/Web/PresidentialTaxReturns/
At this site YOU can actually see President Obama's 12 years of Tax Returns and Mitt Romney's two years of partial tax returns. You can also see Tax Returns from VP Biden, as well as some Republicans who ran against Romney in the Primaries, and other presidents going back to FDR.
(even giving Romney full credit for 2 partial Tax Returns) stands at ...
President Obama has released 12 years of Tax Returns, whereas candidate Mitt Romney has released only two years (of what have been reported to be incomplete/partial) Tax Returns. Facts are Facts!
Mitt Romney, who has been caught lying about his taxes before (when claiming residency to be eligible to run for governor of Massachusetts), has released only one year returns that's missing important documents, and has yet to release a second year of returns in full -- Because these have to be sanitized and are a "fluke" to quote Romney's father.
Any rightwinger still arguing that this is sufficient better think about the unintended consequences. Just as the filibuster has been abused at record levels, setting such precedence for tax returns in the future is a really bad idea.
And NO McCain had been releasing financial information as a Senator for years before he ran as candidate, and why the president's 8 years of returns is 12 years when his Senate information is added.
Also, any rightwinger taking advice from Limbaugh or Trump about demanding the president's birth certificate, transcripts, etc. is even more stupid than the source of these idiotic ideas.
MSNBCMFE -- While religion should not be a factor for elected office, and keeping in mind JFK and concerns about influence from the Vatican, as with SCOTUS Justices, their life experience and things like faith DOES impact the philosophies of the individual.
In regard to Catholicism, one might be concerned about women's right to choose and contraception, likewise with Mormonism, or Teavangelicals as a whole. However, Mormons have also had a history of discrimination against blacks, political involvement with Prop 8 and gay marriage, and other civil rights as your post points out.
Another matter is that of the Last Days (not as extreme as The Rapture) and how this influences Romney's foreign policy positions. There is much more, which we've seen in Romney's comments about the US that reflect beliefs of a chosen place or people. Even temple marriages/divorce still abide by basic polygamy beliefs, just no longer against the laws of the land.
The freedom to practice religion of choice (or no religion) is something I believe in and will always fight to protect. However, this is not to say that I support election of a president with certain beliefs and therefore political philosophies, because I doubt this person would represent me and all Americans to the best ability -- Really any Republican at this point will not represent all Americans.
The Ryan plan would be pushing old ladies in wheel chairs over the cliff, this guy is a "WORM !!!!!!!!!!!!
Good, stay on vacation and take Willard with you so he has time to forge his tax returns so he "appears" to have paid taxes.
Gee, the Washington Post and Politifact have both called Reid's spewage about Romney a "lie." But instead, I guess we should follow the vomit regurgitated by someone like you.
If it's a lie, why doesn't (Walter) Mitty show his returns and prove it?
Curious, isn't it Thomas Blue? You would think that if Romney is as outraged as he pretends to be, he would do that. Fastest way to turn the conversation around to favoring him.
That he doesn't do it...I think tells us what we need to know.
I didn't know weasels took vacations. Especially in Colorado. Damn, learn something new everyday.
Well, why are you afraid to post the citations, or is it something you heard from a friend who heard it from a friend. And pray tell, what spewage are you talking about?
There are so many replies - but that one simply stands on its own. Bravo Mac!!
RedDevPS#2.5:"wayfarer" was actually talking about "spillage". Seems several prominent republicans inadvertently soiled their drawers over "Harry's truth.
Paul Ryan was one of the 14 repub politicians who met the night President Obama took office and pledged to vote against every bill that would make president Obama look good for the next election. They said they needed to act like the Taliban, like insurgents and vote against every bill just to make President Obama a one term president. Cantor, jim DeMint and the Newster were among the 14. Their pledge was the same pledge Bin Laden wrote about on how to destroy our country,....take the economy down. Traitors to our country voting against recovery from the greedy rich and bush crashing the economy. They all took the Norquist pledge putting their king Norquist above the constitution, above the laws of our nation, like traitors 95 % of republican politicians pledged to Norquist over our constitution. Ref Richard Draper book.
Vote President Obama/Biden and team America to protect our constitution
You are slaying me .. I'm still laughing!! I guess it just all 'depends' on how you interpret "Harry's Truth".
He can't change what is already past, his taxes were already submitted and paid. how about Obama tell us about his past that he is hiding.
Gee Buck .. the only one hiding anything is Romney. Why are you switch-baiting to Obama? Better yet, what are you hiding <<hint, I really don't want to know>>.
The comments made by Sen. Reid can't be called lies. He has said that he was told certain things by an unidentified source. Since there was no one from either publication was present, the best they can do is say that the claims cannot be proven or disproved. This type of unsubstantiated story telling is the hallmark of right wing "journalism" and what is seen daily. Reid is just playing the game under the rules established by the right.
@vwterry .. the issue I find very amusing by all this is the Mormon Democrat going after the Mormon Republican. I have a hard time finding the Mormon Church in a high state of development allowing this to happen to their "first ever" Mormon presidential candidate. It almost looks like Mormons are throwing Romney and his campaign staff under the provincial Romney Bus Campaign tour, just to see what these politics entail.
The only thing having Paul Ryan on the Romney ticket would do is increase the size of the Obama victory. His budget is so bad even Republicans in the Senate run from it.
An unidentified source told me that dingy harry is gay....................must be true, I was told by someone or I made it up. Oh well, doesn't matter, it must be true!!
Harry has balls. He and McCain are the only ones who have big enough balls to call out the truth.
McConnell has a pussy where his balls should be.
You sure he can't change it retroactively. He likes doing that.
Harry Reid is a cross dresser, that is the word on the street. Should Harry Reid not prove me incorrect.
Ryan is one of the Biggest phonies in the GOP !!!!!!!!!!!
Paul, Please get out of the state we can't stand you and your rich friends who keep buying you into office. Your tax cuts for the rich and your proposed change to Medicare and Medicaid that would kill both health protection programs are the reason we want you to move permanently.
That would be a nice early Christmas present for Obama. How about Bachmann for Sec. of State ? And maybe Ted Nugent for Sec. of Defense?
I"ve got a better idea. Why not give this guy a permanent vacation by voting his ass out.
@Tony - Watch out for this one, or as Mac F. says, the weasel. Great article on him and his inner workings in the 8/6/12 "The New Yorker". As the GOP moults from the TP, this gnat will use, discard, and spit up every Cantor, Boehner, McConnell and Romney to reshape the GOP/TP into an extreme version of Santorum political soup. He loves the "Rand Society", and bases his political ideology on Ayn Rand. If allowed to continue in this political foray, we may well be saying in 10 years from now "Heil Ryan".
Better then saying Hail Obama.
Well, hell Buck .. which hail is it?
Even the righties are running away from Ryan. How are you going to get support from people when your agenda focuses on taking away health care for the elderly?
Once people get into the lifetime politician way of life and have accrued their little mountain of money to sit on, the rest of the world can go to hell.
That's where Romneyhood and nutjobs like Ryan belong.
Who cares. Stay on vacation with your rich friends. Mitt can come join you and the two of you can laugh at the fools that follow your crazy ideas about how to keep the rich, richer. Paul is as sick as the Mitt. What a great team.
Yep - Mutiple Choice Mitt and Stick it to the Poor Paul - Great Leadership there - NOT!
The Ryan budget speaks for it's self, cut's entitlements for the poor and working poor, but cut's tax's for the rich who have already had major cut's in tax's in the last decade.
Ryans budget also does not cut the debt! It adds to it! Hey these are facts, look them up!
The same ole cut tax's and deregulate!
Kinda like Oblahblah's healthcare bill. Doesn't lower the price of heath insurance.
In fact, it raises it.
And forces the lower and middle class to purchase it.
Great plan..........not.
One team,
Who says that it raises costs? FOX? Most of the program hasn't even gone into effect yet so where do you get your facts. I'll take a chance on it and Romneycare that is taken from. Idiot!
Romney Persona Non Grata in Italy for Bain's Deal Skirting Taxes
By Jesse Drucker, Elisa Martinuzzi and Lorenzo Totaro - Aug 5, 2012 10:01 PM
Mitt Romney skipped Italy on his swing through Europe. That was probably prudent.
That's because Bain Capital, under Romney as chief executive officer, made about $1 billion in a leveraged buyout 12 years ago that remains controversial in Italy to this day. Bain was part of a group that bought a telephone-directory company from the Italian government and then sold it about two years later, at the peak of the technology bubble, for about 25 times what it paid.
Romney Persona Non Grata in Italy for Bain's Deal Skirting Taxes
Aug. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Bloomberg's Peter Cook reports on a leveraged buyout deal by Bain Capital in Italy 12 years ago that remains controversial to this day as the company made about $1 billion on the deal while avoiding taxes. He speaks on Bloomberg's "In The Loop."
Bain funneled profits through subsidiaries in Luxembourg, a common corporate strategy for avoiding income taxes in other European countries, according to documents reviewed by Bloomberg News. The buyer, Italy's biggest telephone company, now has a total market value less than what it paid Bain and other investors for the directory business.
In Italy, the deals have spurred at least three books, separate legal and regulatory probes and newspaper columns alleging investors made a fortune at the expense of Italian taxpayers. Boston-based Bain wasn't a subject of the inquiries, which didn't result in any charges.
The sale of the government's directory business is "a dark chapter in the country's privatization history, one that has hurt Italians deeply," said Bernardo Bortolotti, an economics professor at Turin University who advised the Italian Treasury on asset sales from 2002 through 2005. "It was a mistake from the start, damaged by a lack of transparency and the use of offshore funds."
Personally Involved
While few ordinary Italians realize the link between Romney and the investor group, the deal symbolizes Italy's economic woes and government futility as the nation struggles to convince investors that it can repay Europe's second-largest debt without a bailout. The economy is in its fourth recession since 2001 and unemployment is at a 13-year high.
Romney himself probably earned more than $50 million, and possibly as much as $60 million from the Italian directory sale of Seat Pagine Gialle SpA, according to a person familiar with the matter. The deal turned into one of the biggest windfalls of his tenure.
"With this investment, Mitt Romney and Bain Capital, with its consortium partners, partnered with a new management team to transform this company, and grow it into a tremendous success,"said Michele Davis, a spokeswoman for Romney's presidential campaign. "Mitt Romney is running for President to put that experience to work."
'Burned' Investors
As Bain's CEO from 1984 to 2001, Romney was personally involved in the deal at various points, including the initial decision to invest. He attended at least one meeting about it inBoston, according to a participant. When Bain sold the directory business in 2000, Romney, while still holding the title of CEO, was in charge of preparations for the 2002 Winter Olympics inSalt Lake City. Romney has contended that he gave up management control of Bain in February 1999 to run the games.
"Mitt Romney and Bain played the role of successful financial speculators at the peril of the Italian government and the small stock-market investors who were burned by the sharp decline in Seat (PG) shares," said Giovanni Pons, a journalist for la Repubblica and co-author of "L'Affare Telecom" (2002), which recounts details of the Bain deal.
The use of offshore subsidiaries to avoid taxes has been standard practice for private equity firms such as Bain, as well as other big U.S. companies such as Google Inc. (GOOG), Facebook Inc. and Cisco Systems Inc.
clwd,
The Senate Budget Committee came out with a report a few weeks ago.
Guess what it said? The Oblahblah's policies are going to raise the debt to $21 Trillion by the end of ten years.
And guess what the end of ten years signifies?
Oopsie - tell that to the millions of Americans getting the first every, historical, refunds on their insurance premiums. Must suck to be an Obama basher on this issue.
Didn't read that last post of mine, did you?
Didn't think so.
Let's see how that works. Romney policies are going to raise the debt to $7 billion, trillion, gazillion dollars by the end of ten years. Whose statement has a backup citation, the Abomination or the RedDev?
I'm sorry.
I'd rather believe the actual people tracking the budget than one pulled out of your nether regions.
Obamanation: Funny!!! Most middle Americans and some lower income Americans already have insurance, so those "taxes" won't be levied. The "taxes" are only imposed if you don't have insurance and refuse to get it. Only will affect a small number of Americans. Kinda like increasing the tax percentage paid by the 1%, only a small number of Americans would be affected.
Sorry you ain't, or is you isn't? As a 'faux-a-lot' you can't site a study, research paper, or review to support your claim, can ya, big guy. Now get back to me when you are done with that corn cob used to wipe up your behind.
Gov. Romney paid over $2,000,000.00 in income tax alone last year;and that's in addition to everything else he paid.
Sounds about right for someone earning 240000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 dollars a day.
Still leaves him 2400000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 per day after taxes.
Hope Ryan is the Vp pick ....great budget...a pack of theives...you will not get away with your scheems this time!
How do these Company Gutting, medicare, social security benefit cutting scums sleep at night...ryan your Grandparents are turing in their graves; what a disappointment...
Waiting for the gop circus to continue...What did Newt say about Romney's tax returns?...Dems should just repeat what other gop candidates have said...so many lines so little time..
I didn't read that! Please tell me its location so I can be updated. ( I think it is more of your fabrication! FOX brainwashing as I've searched and found not such report!) What I do care about is the $5,000,000,000,000 poured down the toilet for bush's two wars that have cost us debt and a huge cost from the glutted Pentagon Budget. Also, the 7,500 lives wasted for nothing and the 50,000 maimed Americans who have served in two lost wars.
bewildered,
Since it is estimated that Mitt the Twitt earned more than a billion with his offshore accounts paying $2,000,000 would mean less than a 1% income tax. I paid 27%. How about you? You are truly bewildered.
Obama/Biden 2012
clwyd - and considering Mitt hasn't even FILED his 2011 taxes, isn't it amazine bewildered knows how much he made and paid? Astounding really! Mitt filed an extension - they won't go in until 10/15/2012.
Obama/Biden 2012
Sure have alot of experts regarding Mitt's taxes. How about you libbies get all worried about obumbo's school records, med records, passport records, real birth records, fast & furious exec priv caper, etc, etc, etc. obumbo is a failure and clueless. He needs to GO NOW!!!!
Mitt/? 2012
Usa 1967,
Young pup! That is because I have a conservative neighbor, still a friend, who complains about running his business all the time. I asked him what he paid in taxes and it was 13%. I paid 27% and yet he has 10 fold what I have and earns 10 fold more. He is in the top 1% that own 42% of the wealth which happens to be up from 40% in 2011. Greed does that my friend. Your post indicate you want more of the same and maybe when they own 50% you and they will be happen? I bet they will want more!
Poll: Nine percent of Obama '08 voters want Romney now
By: Hope Hodge
8/6/2012 05:08 PM
Favor is fickle, and hope and change was easier to promise than deliver on.
A new Gallup poll shows that nearly 10 percent of voters who supported Barack Obama during his 2008 run have decamped and will be supporting Republican challenger Mitt Romney in this next election. At nine percent, the rate of Obama '08 defectors is nearly double the five percent of former McCain '08 supporters who now say they'll cast a vote for Obama.
Partly loyalty is higher in the Republican camp too, with 92 percent of former McCain supporters saying they're sticking with the red ticket, while only 86 percent of Obama's 2008 base say they're staying true.
The poll surveyed more than 2,000 registered voters who punched a ballot in 2008.
Now for some number play: if we make the broad assumption that the poll data is representative of the general population and do some extrapolation, tallying nine percent of 69,456,897 (Obama's 2008 vote count) and subtracting five percent of John McCain's 59,934,814 votes, we end up with a potential 3.25 million more votes for Romney than McCain had four years ago. It's nothing concrete, but it's becoming clear that election 2012 will be a far different race than 2008 was.
Read it and weap libtardo's -- Finally a poll that asks the right questions!!!
Romney 2012!!! Yeah Baby!!!
Daniel,
What this poll leaves out, that is absolutely vital, is where those 9% live. All the polls indicate that the vast majority of Obama voters that plan on voting for Romney live in solid red states, meaning they will change absolutely nothing. So what if Obama only gets 30% of the vote in Texas instead of the 43.8% he got in 2008? That doesn't take any electoral votes away from him.
Most of those 9% are upset because Obama is not liberal enough. Also his continued polices that were begun by Bush, the tax cuts etc. that are failures acorrding to the GOP yet propigated by the GOP, do not sit well with the far left and anyone with one ounce of brain power understands that Obama is not far left.
Daniel: While Party loyalty is high on your side, you better understand that you have alienated huge demographics. As a Woman, aside from the very old or the teaparty who no longer ovulate...gone. Anyone with a child who is also female? Gone. Anyone with a gay friend? Gone. Anyone who is struggling and who thinks the current system is unfair...gone. (Remember the "We are the 99 Percent" protesters...Not yours.) Latino's? "Self Deportation", "For Pete Sake, I'm running for President here." I guess you got the old white people behind you. Buddah Bless. Allah Bless. Jesus wouldn't even talk to you! Now let's talk about gays and blacks . No thank you! Now let's talk about the poor, who have been characterized as not paying taxes...While Mitt stuffs money into Cayman bank accounts and refuses to make public his tax returns. While Corporations pay no taxes with record profits. Wow! I guess your base is old white corporate males. Small demographic.
Well, he fits the bill. Americans vote on looks. You can be the best guy for the job, but if you look like Homer Simpson you won't get elected.
Two words, Richard Nixon. Dude was one ugly ass mofo.
Also, the previous conventional wisdom said a person with an African heritage could never be elected president.
Looks have nothing to do with it.
And - dude - that was many years ago before today's more superficial generations. Nixon's opponent was McGovern - closer to Homer Simpson and did not come across as the brightest star either.
Frequently presidential candidates will pick a doofus like Biden as their running mate to so they can look good by comparison. Other times they will pick a VP just to bring in a particular segment of the electorate, as with Walter Mondale's choice of Geraldine Ferraro. Romney recognizes that the success of any enterprise is dependent on having a top-notch management team, and so he will want someone who is both smart and tough.
Romney's choice will be interesting.
Perhaps, Kannin, but I'm beginning to believe, based on his performance of late, that Mitt was anything BUT the sharpest tool at Bain, and perhaps his longevity with that firm was more a function of his elevated title on the board, taken in tandem with their needing a recognizable face and last name to attract investors.
Kinda explains how he so easily came and went and came again and went again, depending; perhaps no one there really cared.
Pure speculation from my favorite proof-demander?
MSN......Romney..the Bain Strawman......Romney...Karl Rove's strawman.....
Stop the presses . . . Paul Ryan is taking a vacation.
Seriously, MSNBC, is this the best you can do? Paul Ryan's vacations don't interest me that much, even with the innuendo ascribed. If you want to give us an article on vacations, make it about Michelle's Spanish vacation or the Martha's Vineyard vacation. Something worth reading. ;)
Anytime you see an article here with non-news like this, you should immediately check other outlets to find out what news MSNBC is avoiding. In this case it seems to be
President Obama’s new immigration plan which will provide safe harbor to criminal illegal immigrants.
According to documents released today, illegal immigrants convicted of felonies or misdemeanors under “state immigration laws” may be granted deferred action. Those who have repeatedly entered the United States illegally will also be eligible. And traffic violations would not be considered a misdemeanor.
Under Obama's plan, illegal immigrants who are using stolen or fraudulent Social Security numbers in order to gain employment will not be charged with a crime (http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/americas-political-pulse/2012/aug/7/obamas-token-immigration-reform-efforts/)
Kannin:
The article you cited says nothing you claim it says. Nothing!
Lying scum.
@Kainnin
I'm sure MSNBC will consult you in the future about which stories you deem to be important enough to publish because you are just so knowledgeable about all things news worthy.
Tools like you amuse me.
Romney recognizes that the success of any enterprise is dependent on having a top-notch management team, and so he will want someone who is both smart and tough.
But he'll have to except who ever Norquist, Rove or Limpballs pick...
He'll have to 'except' them?
Just like Soros picked Biden
"accept" There, I fixed it. geesh, give the guy a break; it's getting late. You know full well what he meant!
Better than Oprah picking our President! Hillary Clinton is far more talented and she had it in the bag,l until Aunt Jemimiah commanded the jig-a-boo(94% for Obama; "but we ain't votin'for him cause he black") and the welfare/SSI moochs that have the leasure to lay around watching the fat, nasty, thing to jump on the Soul Train.
There's a special place in hell for the likes of you, Bewildered. Dress light.
MSNBCMFE - I believe hell has higher standards than to admit Bewildered!
Bewildered joined in 11/2011. I'm surprised this racist lasted as long as he has.
He's nothing more then low life, racist, scum, my apologies to scum.
Someone cares? Whoever gets the VP nod for Romney's campaign is a political zero. No one who ever gets nominated for VP to a defeated presidential candidates ever gets anywhere.
Most presidents with a favorability rating below 50% usually don't get re-elected.
Well all polls show that this one will.
Most presidents with a favorability rating below 50% usually don't get re-elected.
Most presidents don't run against somebody with a 35% favorability rating. With the economy in the shape it's in, Romney should be way ahead. But he's not because he's 1000% phony. He has no spine, no real beliefs, no core. He will say anything the people he's talking to at the time what to hear they say the exact opposite to the nest group. He's been for and against just abut every major issue facing this nation. He's been running for president for 8 years and even his Republican rivals over that time can't stand him. I remember every presidential election since Ike in 1952 and Romney is the most laughable candidate either major party has given us over those 60 years.
Keep hoping Charlie, even your yelling won't help obumbo. That dismal failure is gone!!
Please please please please please, for the love of Obama let Paul Ryan be the GOP vp nominee!
Uhhh . . . I think he'd beat Biden, VADem. I think Ryan knows that there are four letters in the word 'Jobs,' not three. And I think Ryan knows that quadriplegics can't stand up when you ask them to. And I think Ryan knows that there are plenty of bright, clean, articulate Blacks out there. These are just some of the things that Joe Biden does NOT know.
Biden's done a lot .... "LOL"
Evening, Ben! Gem's around here somewhere as well. Or she was about ten minutes ago.
Cool ....
I've been on the science article threads ....
CubsFan,
You act as if VP candidates run against each other. They are part of the presidential ticket, one cannot "beat" the other. The simple fact is that Paul Ryan is a very polarizing person and anyone that doesn't hate him is a solid Republican voter, regardless of who the candidate is. Did you really just suggest that Paul Ryan would help Romney win black voters? Bwahahahaha! What the F are you smoking? Can I have some? lol
Further to the point, Paul Ryan wouldn't even help Romney win Wisconsin! Now that's just sad.
Wisconsin is not a blue state anymore. We have a huge senate primary in September. from what the polls show here, 3 of the 4 repubs running for an open seat now held by dem. senator Herb Kohl would beat the unchallenged dem Tammy Baldwin soundly. If Baldwin losses in Nov. so does Obama
kandibar,
Incorrect.
Care to cite any data to back that claim?
I will show you all the Wisconsin data that says you are wrong:
Rasmussen Reports: Romney 46% Obama 49%
WeAskAmerica: Romney 42% Obama 49%
Marquette University: Romney 43% Obama 51%
PPP: Romney 44% Obama 50%
Source: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/wi/wisconsin_romney_vs_obama-1871.html
Also, the RCP average has Baldwin beating the likely Republican competitor, Thompson, the most recent poll by conservative pollster, Rasmussen Reports, has Baldwin up by 7 points.
Source: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/senate/wi/wisconsin_senate_thompson_vs_baldwin-2711.html
kandibar,
You should also give this article, by conservative pollster, Rasmussen Reports, a read.
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2012/election_2012_senate_elections/wisconsin/election_2012_wisconsin_senate
Given that the conservatives are so butt-hurt about Bush, and the election of the black man, they will all vote for a terrorist over the President. SO, Romney should select an ultra-liberal as his VP. That is the only way he can get some of the "cross-over" vote, that he has to have,.... to avoid losing by a landslide.
Considering how the GOP used Rev. Wright, I am not sure how they will respond to the reality of Paul's hero and his philosophical muse...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6LSpFgxL94
Why? You libtards haven't vetted anyone yet......
Oh, my bad. You just never vet your own candidates.
Your party is increasingly a reflection of the fictional works of an intolerant Russian Atheist who championed jealous self interest the only valid personal and national philosophy. Ironically your champion ended her life collecting Social Security and Medicare benefits. The question I have is this... where does Jesus Christ fit in all that?
Your foil hat is slipping
Obamanation
So tell us all, how did PRESIDENT Obama get over on the Secret Service, FBI, CIA, NSA and any number of other security services to ascend to POTUS. Come on, you're so smart, tell us dufus. People like you amuse us all.
The first part I agree with the second um no way...
Yeah, I don't see Hillary running in 2016. Nor will Biden. I'd like to see Senator Mark Warner as our 2016 candidate. Either him or soon to be Senator Tim Kaine (yeah, I have a bias towards Virginia Democrats. What can I say, we're just awesome!)
Yep..
And the USA will be just another country that will need a bailout.. China anyone??
Because you can't keep throwing money at problems.. You actually have to fix them first..
Obama hates this Country as he is a Muslim and wants to destroy it from the inside.. It's working..
As for Bush/Cheney collapsing the economy.. Just silly.. They just happened to be the ones holding the
bag for the incredibly ridiculous housing/mortgage laws signed by Clinton that eventually caused the
collapse. Those facts can't even be denied by liberals, unless you want to lie to yourselves.
But you're right Obama will win mostly because nearly 50% of the people are getting free stuff..
So they will vote for more free stuff..
I wonder what happens when the free stuff costs more than the income coming in.. Even if they
tax the rich more, it won't be enough..
Maybe the Mayans were on to something.. 12/21/12
There are some in DC who would like to tackle the big problems facing our nation. But the repubs won't let that happen.
Your claim that Obama is a muslim is unfounded and based on lies and innuendo. Go pork yourself.
Bush tax cuts created the 50% of the people who don't pay fed income tax. Ask him.
Bush and his admin cut taxes twice while we were waging two wars and passed the medicare prescription program that HUGELY benefited the pharmaceutical companies and costing us billions over the last 10 years? And who wants to use the same team of players as those geniuses who caused a near Great Depression? Romney.
Obama and the dems have been saying (for the last 2 years) that we need spending cuts AND increased revenue. The Norquist faithful refuse to consider ANY means to raise revenue. Since the repubs bring nothing to the table because they refuse to negotiate, nothing gets done. Obama had proposed a 3 to 1 ratio of cuts to revenue increases - and the repubs turned it down.
Repubs point to Reagan because he cut taxes and the economy prospered. Problem is:
1. Reagan didn't merely cut taxes, he did tax reform. He lowered rates AND eliminated deductions to offset the rate change. Bush did nothing of the sort, and the Norquist minions would not either. If they were interested in tax reform they would have introduced a bill to that effect instead of naming post offices and introducing multitudes of abortion bills and almost 40 attempts to repeal Obamacares.
2. Reagan raised taxes 11 times after the initial tax reform.
3. There were millions more jobs here in the US that had not yet been moved to China (or India). If those manufacturing jobs were still here, we'd be in full recovery by now and unemployment would be very much lower.
Reagan wouldn't stand a chance in the repub party today.
Search You Tube.. Occidental College transcripts..
Lots of info there in just 6:07..
But people can keep their heads in the sand..
Ryan is a heartless twerp...That said,he might deliver Wisconsin for Romney...a piece of one of the few scenarios where Romney can win. It would be a bold pick...and Mitt ain't bold. Expect Pawlenty...the safe, conservative choice and the only guy on the planet that can make Romney look exciting by comparison.
Ryan would pack Biden's lunch, and you know it.
Um, dude, VP candidates don't run against each other, they run with the presidential candidates. As for popularity and likability, Biden has the advantage. Paul Ryan is one of the most despised men in American politics.
Can't wait to see which of three stooges Mitt picks after all he can't pick anyone with more personality than his. He is a milti-millionaire and looks like an idiot in jeans (during the primaries). Looks like someone told him that, so now he goes around without a tie and coat and still looks like an idiot. Who is he trying to fool. He is rich and pays 13% or no taxes and now wants to give more tax breaks to the rich. If your part of the middle class you better think twice before voting for Richy rich Mitt. Its pretty sad when all the other rich republicans don't even like him. Even Ann Coultet predicted that if he was the republican nominee the Republicans would lose, those were her own words look it up.
Proud Parrot - Let's see ... you don't like Romney's personality, or the way he dresses. You are jealous of his success. That about sum up your objections?
With enemies like you, he doesn't need friends.
Ryan would be crucified in a debate with Biden...a political pro vs a rank amateur. Ryan sounds great if you are a Tea Party or Right Wing zealot..Not so great to seniors, union members, government employees, unemployed,a minority, women, intellectual,or a working class guy who needs Medicare or Social Security.Doesn't matter...Romney doesn't have the stones to pick Ryan.
Oh please.
Biden's worst nightmare is Biden.
Paul Ryan lost his first debate....to Catholics!!!!!!Career done!
Remember -- Ryan got so much flack an his town hall meetings he started charging people to get in.
What's he taking a vacation from? I mean it's not like he does any meaningful work! Surely he and his co-hores in congress haven't done anything about jobs!!!
Neither has the president, even though he's controlled house, senate and presidency for two years straight....
ONE TERMER has evidently never heard of the filibuster which his party has chosen to make into a joke, abusing it to the point where it is not even recognizable with it's original intent.
Gee....they had filibusters in the house AND the senate AND the presidency????
Darn those Republicans.
Darn them all to Heck.
Obamanation (and by the way, I think we should make a little change here to your name to make it a little more accurate...) Obama Nation!
You don't know how things work do you? You see, the Senate, the House or the president cannot act in a mutually exclusive manor. One cannot take action without the other two. The president cannot sign a bill into law if it's only been passed by the house. Seriously, did all Republicans just sleep through 8th grade Civics class? I bet they thought is was a class about Japanese cars.
It is not a vacation...he is hiding and deflecting....
Mitt's Veep pick bump will last about 2-3 weeks...then it's back to "Why won't Mitt come clean about his taxes". Romney can't win unless he releases his returns. People don't like him and they don't trust him. The Republican strategy of "Anybody but Obama" ain't gonna work...Bet on it.
Where were you libtards at last election when McCain only turned in two years taxes?
Oh, that's right.......Oblahblah was too busy blaming Bush and didn't have to get the attention off of HIS piss poor track record.
earsport - We can be sure that anything on Romney's tax returns will be legal since he and his CPA know that they might be scrutinized thoroughly by the ferrets at the IRS. In any case, tax returns have no possible effect on the country as a whole.
We can't say the same for the Fast and Furious documents that Obama is hiding by Executive Privilege. Obama talks “transparency” and practices the most aggressive obscuration.
Apparently the documents relating to Fast and Furious are so damning to Obama that if they come to light he would not only lose the election, but might also be sent to prison.
So Earsport.
How many years of tax returns should he turn in, in your opinion?
ONE TERM is not nearly as smart as he things he is.
You know why John McCain only turned in two years of tax returns when he ran for the Presidency smart guy???
Cause he has been releasing his tax records all along since he has been in the Senate. But you didn't know that, did ya pal??? No, you didn't. In fact McCain has released well over a dozen years of returns. And when Willard picks his VP candidate you can bet your last dime Mittens is going to want to see numerous years of returns.
So again, oh enlightened Intrepid,
Pray tell. How many years should he release to appease the Liberal Gods of Taxdom?
Come on, Intrepid!
Inquiring minds want to know....
How many years of tax returns would appease the libbies?
Not to mention, I call BS on McCain turning in more than two years.
So come on, Intrepid.
How many years?
While we wait for Intrepid....
Why don't we make a fuss about Carter turning in only three years?
Oh....and those years Carter turned in were while he was actually president.
Oh, well.....I guess Intrepid slithered back off.
Guess there really is no appeasing the Liberal Gods of Taxdom.
I just read them.... BOTH 2010 & 2011..... A SINGLE return would be nice. BOTH are incomplete and estimates with entire foreign investments missing. They appear to be typed by a junior clerk, in a hurry. And, on face value, are COMPLETE BS!!!
Factcheck.org looked at this and found that since 1980, only two general election candidates have revealed just two years of tax returns. One was Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in 2008 and the other is Mitt Romney (both Romney returns are incomplete, at least so far during this campaign).
obamanation, you are taking up alot of space with nonsense.
Who gives a @!$%#..
He's rich, so what..???
Warren Buffet only pays 17% admittedly on his taxes and he's worth 90 billion..
So if he gave everything to the government, would it fix anything???
Answer: NO
They would just spend more, thinking they have more to spend..
Never mind the projected budget deficit of 25 trillion in 10 years (Obama's figures)
Just saying, all the fuss about Romney's taxes are ridiculous.
Obama has had almost 4 years, and has driven the country down further..
He will win, then it's really going to get bad.. Really bad..
Since MSNBC has failed us, here's some real news:
Paul Ryan is not the only one with a vacation in his future! President Barack Obama is scheduled to take an EXTENDED vacation early next year, and it's a vacation we can all be excited about.
His date of departure is set for January 20th, 2013.
What a stupid thing to say. We've already established that Romney has no viable path to 270 electoral votes. I'm sure you've got a strong gut feeling, all that stands in the way are all those pesky facts and polling data, but mostly it'll be all those damned American voters.
United States1776 - love your comment, I'm still chuckling! Too bad Ryan wouldn't take a permanent vacation from Congress!!
This is B.S. Romney's not even been nominated, yet. neither is Obama, may their planes will run into each other, the we can find a good person to be President. As for me I will vote, but write in none of the above. Wish every one else would do the same. Even if one of them wins they will know that no one wants them. The Republican and Democrats are like looking in the mirror, they are both supported by the same rich people who give them money for their election. All this money spent on T.V. even before the convention's is a total waste of money and time, except for the T.V. station owners.
"Even if one of them wins . . ."
Wake up and smell the coffee, George. (Speaking of which, I think I'll grab a cup as soon as I'm done with this post.)
One of those two IS going to win. There's no two ways about it. You are going to have Romney or Obama as President. And the question you have to ask yourself is which one you'd rather have. You can't say 'Neither' or 'None of the above.' Sure, you can waste a vote by voting for Ron Paul or Johnson or writing in Santorum. But you might as well write in Scooby Doo. None of those guys are gonna win. It's gonna be Romney or Obama, and Romney is a thousand times better, even if he's not the best. Every one of us needs to make it one vote harder for Obama to win the White House again. And that means voting for Romney, whether you wholly accept him or not.
