JD - you would think businesses would WANT a communist in charge. They send our jobs to China, so why not take out the middle man and change the former middle class to communist slave labor right here in the USofA? Slave labor and no regulations - its the ideal business environment - isn't it?

But communism is disappearring. There's a significant number of billionaires in China now. And they did it by - you guessed it - using slave labor where no regulation exist to hamper businesses. We can only hope Republicans get it back!, imagine, millions of more people employed ,the deficit trillions of dollars less than it is now,no pie in the sky, glorified golf carts ,or solar and windmill projects with hundreds of millions of dollars going to Obama's Buds overseas with the American People footing the bill, and the elimination of what will be a multi-trillion dollar "health insurance" scam that no one has yet to explain what actual" health care" would be given with massive numbers of physicians threatening to quit, Yup Demi, We can only hope.

Bleary eyed

Interesting post, with China loosening their controls on business,(it is now easier to get a business license in China than many places here),and moving towards Entrepreneurial Capitalism and prospering, while We are being drug against our will, toward totalitarian, state control, with our economy collapsing,and all the while looking more and more like the old centralized socialist/communist economies of the past,Maybe The Chinese are learning from their mistakes while We are repeating theirs.

...and imagination is precisely what will be required, J.D.Still, because no politician who does not habitually walk on water or [better yet] feed a multitude with five loves and two fish, will walk into the Oval Office next January and turn matters around over night.

Has Obama made mistakes?

Absolutely.

His emphasis on Health Care Reform in his first two years in office was a distraction, cost him a great deal of political capital, and produced a "solution" at least half the people dislike.

He also set people's expectation high, in claiming that he could turn the economy around in 2 years. Most economists were saying this was never going to happen.

But in the main he has done almost exactly what McCain would have done if elected: deficit spending, rescue of the auto industry, and extend the Bush-era, "temporary" tax cuts.

Also, if his most vehement critics would look around the world, they might note that almost all western economies are doing poorly, and most are doing far worse than our own. Great Britain, which embraced austerity measures over a year ago, appears to be entering a second recession. Most of Southern Europe is experiencing Depression-era unemployment, and have governments which cannot find the resources to operate.

Mitt Romney, whom so many Republicans have so cheerily embraced, is a man who espouses whatever policies will best please his audience of the moment. As the ["severely conservative"] governor of Massachusetts, Romney was a supporter of Gay Rights, abortion rights, the banning of assault weapons, and his own version of the much denigrated "Obama Care". Now his views on all of these issues have swung 180 degrees.

Obama, whatever his faults, has espoused pretty much the same policies in office as he did on the campaign trail:

• He said we should disengage from Iraq. We have.
• He reemphasize the war in Afghanistan. He did [and Osama bin Laden is, finally, DEAD.]
• He said national health care reform was a priority. It has been.
• He said [as did McCain] that stimulus spending was necessary to restart our economy.

Romney? As Forest Gump might put it, he is like a box of crackerjacks, you never know what you'll find inside.
