With President Obama campaigning in Florida today, the Romney camp goes up with a TV ad noting the 8.6% unemployment rate in the state (though that's down from 11%-plus in 2009 and 2010).
The ad concludes, "He focused on Obamacare instead of jobs. Barack Obama -- what a disappointment."

Wasn't Willard the same guy who intimidated Governor Rick Scott into dialing down touting the drop in unemployment in the state?
Heaven forbid Willard would have to tell the truth!
Too funny!
You mean like Obama and the DOD telling contractors not send send out the legally required layoff notices until after the election?
Too easy Feisty, even for you.
Sounds like the Romney campaign folks have been out trolling, along with the sister of a 'concerned' poster, the Miami nightclub crowd. Mix some cocktails, drop some E, snort a little blow, and anything makes sense - like trying to discredit Obama for a falling unemployment rate.
Sounds fun.
But I wonder - how is the FLA housing market doing. If it's as bad as here in Cali, they are screwed.
Spanky-
Sounds fun.
But I wonder - how is the FLA housing market doing. If it's as bad as here in Cali, they are screwed.
Glad to hear you finally got some Spanky!
Spanky...here in South Florida, the housing market is pretty awful. Definitely rivals Las Vegas and California. Thankfully, I like my house and am not moving any time soon.
And RedDev...what is wrong with the Miami nightclub crowd!?
Seniors ... are scared that Mitt the Vulture is going to take away their Medicare benefits and make it into a vulture program (voucher program with 'perfect' market mechanism). GOP's 'perfect' market is never perfect - 1921-29 8 years of GOP perfect market led to Great Depression; 2001-09 8 years of Bush control led to Great Recession.
And, there are A LOT OF scared seniors in FL.
The one thing this does prove is that excellent sound fiscal policies under a Republican governor (a.k.a. the philosophy for the nation) works!!!!!!
RedDevPS who writes;
Like I have been saying, these LIBS display their thru belives on blacks, spanish and anyone that does not have their mentallity.
Hey Redevs with no Cigar, are you stalking me now. "Metete el rabo de diablo por donde el sol no alumbra".
If Florida is doing good it is because of their Governor.
Housing however, is bad as hell and if you have an FHA with BOA, you better not fall behind or your house will be in Foreclosure in a few Months. FHA is Government insured so the Bank does not loose a penny. I wonder if our grate god al knowing President knows what is going on with that?
I simply love it when people who live in other states can make claims to knowing what's going on in Florida. Employment sucks in Florida. We are close to 17% unemployment. Thank you very much for the housing bubble bursting democrats... Yes, I blame the democrats for their policies that caused it.
Romney might want to ask the GOP members of congress why, instead of proposing jobs bills, they have instead made 33 futile attempts to repeal the national health care program. The obstructionist GOP have done nothing for the American people yet they shrilly wail and whine about anything the Democrats and President Obama have suggested. This is exactly why they are heading to failure in November. The American voter has had enough of this nonsense.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/2012_elections_electoral_college_map.html
President Obama in November! He is clearly the only rational choice!
Not a thing, Frank - well, with the exception that apparently, on really good authority from someone's sister, they are, without exception, all voting for Romney. Now I personally have a hard time believing their isn't a single democrat in the Miami nightclub crowd. I'm just simply quoting the trolling er em polling sister of a concerned poster.
Doh - you might want to brush up (that means read-up) on the definition of stalking.
Well, ya see bean-bag Bennie - that's the problem with the Romney ad. Romney claims it is president Obama's fault that unemployment in Florida has dropped. Yet here you are praising the governor for the drop in unemployment. Which is it? Perhaps you need to drop to your knees and ask God for some guidance to solve this little conundrum.
So if a state is doing better (Ohio, Virginia, Florida) it is due to the Republican governor. If a state is doing poorly it is because of President Obama.
The housing market is doing poorly not because of Republican-led deregulation, but because of President Obama.
If the nation does better, it is because of a Republican Congress (Clinton), if it does poorly it is because of President Obama.
That must be what passes for logic in the conservative mind......like those "sound fiscal policies" of the Bush administration - he was a Republican, remember? (and so was Schwarzenneger)
TNSEVOL,
Schwarzenneger is a RINO, and Jerry Brown is no better.
TNSEVOL - I don't believe you should use the words conservative and mind in the same sentence. They just don't go together at all!
Obama/Biden 2012
Romney - "I'm not Obama!"
the voting public - "No $hit, Mittens. Tell us what you are!"
Romney - "I'm not Obama!"
the voting public - "Obama has made things a little better, tell us what you would do!"
Romney - "I'm not Obama!"
the voting public - "So is Generic Republican, you know, the one that is beating you in the polls."
Romney - "But it's my turn!"
the voting public - "Entitled much?"
Down from 11% after Bush drove us all off the cliff is a good thing. But want to go back to 11% and maybe shoot for 25%, like during the great depression, vote for a Republican like Romney and watch as America splatters all over the bottom of the ravine.
SO AnaB - since you say it was BUUUUSSHHHH that drove us off the cliff, how come Obama can't fix it?
Does the pres have the power - yea or nay?
Oh and for fun where would you say we are now relative to this cliff you speak of?
Kinda worse off now than ever, right?
But at least GM is doing so well. WHOOPS!
Come on spanky, you know there is no way to fix an 8 year mess in 4 years (3 1/2 to be exact), sorry buddy, that was too easy - even for a neocon like you! Much to your chagrin we are not going to forget who drove us off that cliff - put the car in R and it goes in reverse every time, just like what happens to the true working middle class(not the bankers, lawyers, doctors, and insurance CEO's - by the way, those folks are not middle class, never have been, never will be) everytime an r is in control of our government.
Ana - And you don't think the democratic controlled Congress had anything to do with so called Bush Recession? Who controls the purse strings and passes spending bills? You say the 11% unemployment rate is a good thing, maybe you should tell that to the unemployed and see if they agree.
The Republican controlled house passes a bill to extend all of the so called "Bush/Obama tax cuts" and the Democrats run around saying it's a tax increase on the middle class. Go figure.
Union Baby, Again as I said, the Democrats controlled Congress for the last two years of the Bush Administration (Obama was a member of the Senate). Congress makes the laws, do oversight and control the purse strings. Obama voted against raising the National Debt, saying it showed a lack of leadership and we were creating a debt on our children, so how many times has he asked to raise the debt ceiling? Wasn't it Obama who said if I can't turn the economy around in 3.5 yrs, I don't deserve another term?
Really Union Baby.
Study a lot of recoveries have you?
No way, huh?
Wow. Might I suggest you take a look at some history?
By the way - maybe you can tell me what the economy looked like it 2006. I wonder, do you thionk just maybe Pelosi and Reid might have had any role in the drive?
Nah, only BUUUUUSSSSHHHHHH.
Perspective is a hoot.
Spanky,
You're right. It is all Bush. He lied and hid war costs and manipulated data to make sure no one saw what was coming. Giving ample time to bankers and billionaires like Romney, to hedge their bets against America when it all came tumbling down as it did once Democrats took over in 2006 and exposed it all. Yes I blame Bush for everything, including evil Cheney. After all, Bush gave him power as a VP and Cheney abused it with all his might.
Well, it was Romney too. He, Bush, Cheney, and Rove developed a machine that made Liberals go insane and babble on endlessly about things like dogs on roofs, and candidates wives horses, and tax returns. It obviously worked.
Man, it really is sad how powerless libbies feel.
Even when they control congress, nothing can be their fault, apparently cause they just cannot fight the awesome power of the republicans.
So how about O's 'gutsy' call to bail out GM? Man is that backfiring. Dude really does a reverse midas touch.
T minus 3 months till GM goes BK again. How 'unexpected.'
Well, Well, Well Spankster, ain't you feeling Peachy.Care to place a bet on GM goin Bankrupt again in 3 months? Maybe you can tell all of us when about a million vehicles are gonna be recalled by GM, such as Toyota is having to do because of RUST problems still? Got any prediction on That happenin?
How about san bernidino fileing Bankrupcty after 10-15 years of Republican Rule, Man o Man! Gotta love that tax cutting Crowd of Patriotic Republican Americans, Loving this Country so much, they Park thier $$$$$ overseas!
Bout time for you to make another Drug Run down to Cancun ain't It ?
You Betcha!
Occupy "Vegas Baby"!
Awkward!!
Yep, but see there chief, O made a few rather grand promises regarding what he could do, what he would do, and of course the results he'd get.
So RedDEV - do you remember what he said unemployment would be in the third quarter of '12 with the Stimulus?
Worry not, even the main stream media is reporting the Recession now.
Game. Set. Match.
Gee Spanks - no, I never read anything about promises on unemployment rates from Obama. Perhaps you could enlighten us with some of those supposed promises with actual quotes from the president. Too bad your serve was out of bounds.
Ah RedDEV - you really going to go with "actual quotes from the pres.?"
Really - that is all you got? Cause when Romers was out there making proclamations she and the rest were doing it in the capacity as private citizens, not representative of the Obama administration.
Do we really got to go into the whole Principal/Agent stuff again?
Funny. Sad that you have nothing else to go to, but then again, that's your guy, and these are his policies.
Being kept in the dark is a major tenet of being a liberal. Those pesky facts, they just get in the way and cause confusion.
Obama 2012 - "Propaganda - Now that's the key"
Spanky -
I would think a "brilliant" lawyer such as yourself would know the difference between a "projection" and a "promise".
And the Bush disaster was caused by the Democratic Congress, but the current economy is all President Obama's fault. Flawless logic!
The repeal of Glass-Steagal was proposed by which party? Which President lied and led us into two unfunded wars? (on a side note, Cheney's statement about Iraqi citizens greeting us with flowers - was that a projection or a promise?)
Funny. Sad that you have nothing else to go to, but then again, that's your guy, and these are his policies
So Spanky, you really wanna go there do ya?
Darth Cheney catching Flowers & Paul Wolfiwitz with his Statement that Iraqi Oil would Pay for Playing in the SandBox, which is already at 5 Trillion & Counting!
Tell me again when You Fiscal conservatives are gonna Close Gitmo or Turn'em Loose, because America can't afford to pay $200 million, year after year, for Paid Vacations, Healthcare, Soccer Practice, etc, for keeping Terrorist in the Caribean?
I say Turn'em Loose, a SmartBomb only cost Taxpayers $1 Million !
KaBoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooM !
You Betcha!
Occupy "Vegas Baby" !
You know when a republican is lying, because their lips are moving.
Willard Romney is, "DAMN GOOD AT LYING."
How very profound.
Certainly could never, ever be applied to a libbie politician.
So the whole cut the deficit in half thing-y was straight truth, right Job1?
Closing Gitmo?
and as I recall there was something said about the unemployment rate, correct?
Damn, you libbies are really making it easy this am. But then, given with what you have to work with - yoman's work. :)
laser focus? shovel ready?
Job1 - and that is about all he is good at - check with the folks in Boston, they got a big time hate on for this Mittens.
Spanky if you are so concerned about the unemployment rate (which is lower than it was 4 years ago by the way), persuade some of your grown up 1% friends to create real, long term, good paying, with good benefits jobs from those big tax breaks they receive. Once you do, you will have a valid arguement for your side and we can let you back in the game.
So True Union Baby. Ole Willard will lose big time all of his home states. He just doesn't have a record to run on.
Also, with Willard hiding so much about his life and dealings, many people are left to wonder if Willard is covering up sinister or criminal activity. Let's keep the investigation going on Willard Romney, and expose him for what he is.
Spanky Really -
The President is just one man - I am sure if he had the power to by pass the Republican Filibuster Congress that promised the American People they would make jobs their number two priority, behind making sure that the President doesn't get re-elected; we would be in a much better economy by now.
Once everyone starts working together (compromising) instead of dividing this country, the sooner we will get through this recession. Keep blaming each other and government, the longer more in debt we will become.
Obama has demonstrated he is not shy about using Executive Order.
Union Baby - I, and manyh of my friends empol many people.
But I will tell you this - none of us are going to hire anyone until these healthcare and tax issues get resolved.
How about you - create any jobs lately?
Self Educated - how many men was BBBUUUUUSSSHHH? For just one man, he sure does get a lot of blame.
May 2012 - Unemployment rate was 8.2%
May 2008 - Unemployment rate was 5.4%
Perhaps you don't understand the meaning of "lower"?
Source: http://www.google.com/publicdata/explore?ds=z1ebjpgk2654c1_&met_y=unemployment_rate&idim=country:US&fdim_y=seasonality:S&dl=en&hl=en&q=unemployment+rate
Thank God!!!
JAS: wow, I bet if you go back to the beginning of President George W. Bush's time in office, you'll find he started at 3.9% and ended with unemployment at 7.9%, an increase of 4%. Good thing he put those tax cuts in place, without them, we might have had a balance budget.
Contrast that with President Obama, who inherited the 7.9% and now it is 8.2%... an increase of 0.3%.
That makes President Obama at least 10 times better at getting the economy improved than a Republican.
Also, President Bush did not have a Congress whose number one priority was to make sure "that man" only served one term in office.
Since you want to compare time frames, I thought it appropriate to use beginning the term in office of each President. And since President Obama won't leave office until January 2017, we can only go with the latest information.
Aren't statistics fun.
The best solution is to let the Bush tax cuts expire for everyone!!!
JoAnnaSmith1
May 2012 - Unemployment rate was 8.2%
May 2008 - Unemployment rate was 5.4%
Perhaps you don't understand the meaning of "lower"?
Joanna, in may of 2008 the bottom had not fallen to where is would be by December 2008. between may and December we (united states of America) lost a average of 250k jobs a month.
you are just a sorry frustated person, you reach and dream up sh*t to post here. every body knows what you are and i glad to say, the GOP has you on there side. thank god.
Spanky -
You are either lying or poor businessman. Jobs are added to either meet increased demand or take advantage of untapped demand. Taxes and healthcare have little or nothing to do with it, the "uncertain" parts are a relatively minor portion of your employment costs. FICA, FUI, SUI, etc. are fairly consistent.
Also, using a temp agency would allow you to "fix" your costs and avoid both taxes and health insurance.
Romney is being way too nice.
GermanGem, Mittens has never been nice. Ever been to Boston or any or the outer lying areas and New England states? I just came back from a great vacation up there, good food, good working middle class people and none of them like or trust their former governor. He is not going to carry his supposedly home state of Mass, if he does - then we will know for sure it is a rigged deal, just like 2000. And another little secret for you, the south is not very excited about him either.
Why how very progressive, liberal, and inclusive of you Union Baby.
Wow - 'go back to' where you came.
I get you all are down, but that's just weak, even for a Baby.
Thanks Spanky. Its what they do- personal attacks and assumptions of the person they are attacking.
GermanGem
What personal attack? Oh, I see, just disagreeing with you amounts to one.
btw, nice photo of someone else.
lol, and thanks for proving my point blackcatwhitecat
I would be happy to accept your thanks if you did indeed have a point GG. But you do not else you would have answered the question.
Mr. Romney isn't doing well in his home states …
If Romney is so great, then why is MA rejecting him in large numbers?
President Obama's lead is +19.
Yesterday Michigan moved from a "Toss-up" to a "Lean" Obama.
President Obama's lead is +6.
He will announce his VP pick from his home state.
Which one … UT, MI, MA or CA?
One would think the Democrats would be out campaigning on Obama's so called accomplishments, but then Obama never really had any thing to run on so they have to go negative on Romney. Anyone notice Obama is not touting the ACA on the campaign trail.
Seems like the left is more concerned about Romney's tax returns than they are about trying to create jobs and getting the economy back on track. Even got ole Dingy Harry out they tell lies about some unnamed person telling him Romney didn't pay any taxes for 10 years, or something other BS. I think that lie really DEMEANS the office that Reid holds, but hey, the Democrats are desperate.
Dennis, how are you today? From what I head Ohio is getting flooded with political ads, but guess it is helping the printers, TV & Radio stations.
What's your take on the group of Black Pastors coming out and encouraging their followers to not vote for Obama because of the same sex marriage stand of the Democratic Party? They did say they would not encourage followers to vote for Romney, so I guess they are suggesting Blacks should stay home not not vote at all. From the polls I have seen there is not a lot of enthusiasm in the election by African-Americans.
Sarge,
Ads against Sherrod Brown and President Obama have been running several times an hour on dozens of channels for the last 4+ months. PAC’s have spent $12 million against Brown to his $3 million yet Brown still leads by 8.
Black ministers made that proclamation within hours of the announcement. Since then nearly half of them have re-evaluated their stand and now decided they understand the difference between equal rights and religious beliefs. It should not be a surprise to anyone that the President would lose some votes over his change on this.
IMO the downside was greater than the upside. If the ministers actually tell their membership who to vote for or not to vote for they risk their tax exempt status.
For those of you who just can't live without your daily dose of Spankiness, the current score today is:
Same old pointless questions = 16
Answers even remotely resembling solutions = 0
SOlutions from me?
Sorry JoAnne - just here for some fun.
I solve my own problems, and I'm sure you take care of yours.
See, that's why we elect the politicians. It's their job to 'fix' stuff.
How is it you no get that?
JoAne - how about YOU do something - go create a business, or a job. after you have done that, and employ several people, then come on back and we can chat or somewhat equal footing.
See how that works JoAnne?
Why I just bet you don't. But do please keep score. You are super good at it. Hey - turn it into a business. :)
"then come on back and we can chat or somewhat equal footing"
Look, Spanks, I get it already, okay? I'm a college graduate with honors, I've worked for over 43 years now, I own my own home and am a landlord, I pay my taxes and I'm debt free, and I'm just coming off of two difficult years of being the power of attorney for my ailing mother and am now dealing with her estate all on my own, and I have the utmost respect of my employer, my friends, my family, and any number of posters here - even a Republican or two - but according to you, I'm a total failure whose opinions mean nothing because I never started my own business.
Look, we ALL get it, okay? Nobody in the whole world should work for anyone else; we should all just go out and start our own law firm called Badger, Belittle, Mountebank and Poseur, and then and only then will our opinions maybe, just maybe, be on a "somewhat equal footing" with yours.
Thanks anyway, but I think I'll pass......
And that tally still stands!!
Ah come on JoAnne - why so serious this morning.
Again, this is all just for fun and my own personal amusement.
So nothing but non solutions from me. :)
Mitt Romney apparently has the same philosophical approach - no solutions, only criticisms of the current President.
"Ah come on JoAnne - why so serious this morning."
I don't know, Spanky......maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was just catching up this morning with someone I hadn't seen in a while and telling her about my Mom dying last month and how not only didn't we have a funeral, but I was the only person there to say good-bye at the "viewing" before the cremation - my own brothers didn't even show - and I was thinking how really pathetic that was and how Mom deserved so much more. Even if she was "only" a skilled, dedicated, compassionate hospice nurse for many years and never once started her own business.
I'm sorry that made me so serious and spoiled all your fun. Let me go see if I can think up some good jokes about congestive heart failure and strokes and subdural hematomas and aspiration pneumonia and I'll get right back to you, okay?
Like you always say......good times, huh?
Obama didn't just focus on healthcare...he put forth a stimulis plan that included tons of tax breaks, and saved millions of jobs, including the American Auto Industry. What would a Pres. Romney have done? Sat back and did nothing according to what he says Obama should not have done - Romney would not have spent stimulis money but instead would have cut spending costing millions of teachers, police and fire fighter jobs, he would let the American Auto Industry go bankrupt again, costing more millions of private sector jobs, he would have cut taxes on the so called job creators who with their artificially reduced overhead as a result of less taxes, have less incentive to produce more and hire more people, he would have let the oil companies run amok and rape our environment unteathered by any reasonable environmental regulations, and he would have plunged us into a third war in Iran while rampting up Iraq and Afghanistan. In other words, a Pres. Romney would have been an utter disaster in 2009! And, would be an even worse one in 2013. Heaven forbid that loser gets elected. We are all done for.
28,000 of those auto industry jobs went to China
Oh for heaven's sake - we are in a recession. Clearly the Stimulus failed.
Of and GM is on the ropes, again.
GermanGem -
Where is your proof to this statement and the actual number, what types of jobs? Be a little more specific, because we can all just say whatever we want, such as, "30,000 jobs were lost because of Gov. Romeny and Bain Capital closed a plant". See pretty easy!
Besides I don't recall the President actually firing 28,000 people and signing a contract with China to take over these jobs? If this did happen?? you should really blame the actual company/corporation that moved the jobs overseas and then boycott them and their products. Then only buy American made products and food if it really upsets you to be apart of a global economy.
At this point there are NO cars being made in China and imported to the US.
Obviously, an American company opening a plant in China to build cars that are sold to the Chinese is different from outsourcing American jobs to make cheaper products sold to Americans (Wal-Mart).
Two Americas---One has people who want good things for the world and the other bunch that thinks the earth should be ground up for profit. It all comes down to Democrats and the other fools.
Obama/Biden 2012
Double standards again - tie the president to high unemployment in FL but not the low unemployment in VA.
Or the even lower unemployment in North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Vermont, New Hampshire, Iowa, Wyoming, and Minnesota......or any of the other eight states where it's under 7%:
http://www.bls.gov/web/laus/laumstrk.htm
I love how we're all fired up on the left!
4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44, 4 more for 44!!!
Yep 4 more months for 44. (Give or take) Now that is change I can believe in.
@ Talk to the Hand.
That's all you and the right wingers are.
TALK!
Talk to his hand---Four more months and his new term begins.
How about the republicans get on board with the American people who elected this President. But no, all they are going to do is sit around talk the talk just like you.
33 repeals of the ACA and not one jobs bill...Really? This is the party you're backing? Speaks volumes.
Don't forget 14 different Anti Abortion/Birth Control bills.
But it's all about jobs!
Well one thing is for sure....the USA is becoming a demagoguery...welfare state, of course the political deceit from the left has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach because they cant run on their true political Ideology, how ever that Ideology is apparent in this monkey administration for all to see...and that's good.
@Ironx,
A demagoguery? A welfare state? What are you smoking?
If we are WHICH WE'RE NOT! It s better than the republicans WAR STATE!
I live in Florida and our Governor is a joke. There is a chance that these same voters will elect Romney. God help us all.
