The House Ethics Committee has unanimously concluded that House member, California Democrat Laura Richardson, was found to have "violated" the law and was fined $10,000 for misconduct.
Richardson, who is seeking another term in November, was accused of pressuring staffers to work for her campaign. The committee said it had "substantial reason to believe that Representative Laura Richardson violated the Purpose Law...." This will trigger a floor vote to sanction her.
As part of an agreement with the committee, Richardson admitted to all seven counts of allegations against her.
The Ethics Committee established an investigative subcommittee in November of last year to investigate her use of official staff for campaign purposes, which is against House rules. Staffers in many offices leave the congressional office to work for campaigns, but working for both is not permitted.
The committee said in a statement that she was "improperly using House resources for campaign, personal, and nonofficial purposes; by requiring or compelling her official staff to perform campaign work."
The committee also found she obstructed the investigation by the Ethics Committee through "the alteration or destruction of evidence, the deliberate failure to produce documents responsive to requests for information and a subpoena, and attempting to influence the testimony of witnesses."
The fine must be paid no later than Dec. 1, 2012. The committee also strongly discouraged Richardson from permitting any of her official staff to perform work on her campaign -- either on a paid or volunteer basis.

Most of the demorats are crooks led by Rangel, Waters, Wasserman Shultz, Luas and of course the leader of the pack the weasel Reid who is a total moron. This guy is taking money from everyone in vegas to keep the moron in office. Reid is the reason the Senate can not get anything done because this imbecile don't know his rear end from a hole in the ground. He needs to go! Get rid of Harry the moron Reid and things will get better.
Replace the president also. Part of the problem may be that Reid is doing Obama;a dirty work for him.
Living in Illinois I am still wondering what Chicago politics are. Is doing and saying all the stuff that the candidates said about each other in the republican primary challenge or is it all the lies circulating about Obama, or is it all the nasty stuff that is verifiably untrue the republicans say about Obama. This Democrat got caught wanting people to work for her. My land. What horror! They could have caught her lying about an opponent or something or receiving big donations from rich people and I am talking about big ones that are designed to buy influence and power. Oh no they won't do that because it is quite acceptable. Expecially in the new value party where anything goes and no compromise is ever intended. I understand the law is the law but people get your head in gear and think. We have much greater problems than that to deal with. I wish people would get in trouble for not telling the truth on purpose. Wouldn't that be refreshing?
Her staff is paid by taxpayers to handle official government business.. Using her staff to do work campaigning for her is nor permitted. In private industry, we would get fired for having employees work on our personal stuff. In Congress, they get their hand slapped.
Actually Reid is not the reason they can't get anything done. Boehner and the House republicans are the reason they can't get anything done. Their job is to keep Obama from being reelected and that is what they are focused on. Not the people of this country. Most bills have to start in the house and move to the senate. So if there is nothing going on in the house except obstruction you will get obstruction everywhere. There is 11% approval of the congress. Now let us see if people will make that go down to 8 or 9 or lower or if they will get the obstructors out on their ear so we can take our country back to somewhere where people can compromise because we are a diverse country and one way is not the only way to go. It is surprising how the right has managed to brainwash their followers and they can't seem to recognize that yet. Do they have to be personally affected before they do? Maybe so. But I have hopes that in the future they will wake up and see the radicals being voted in by them.
So how do you write off the 24 jobs bills held by Reid? Why not let the senate vote on them? Looks like he is afraid some democrats will vote for them and they will pass and work.

Is is amazing you liberals only see one way and totally irresponsible for your own actions. You constantly blame everyone but yourselves for what is wrong, but jump on something if it is correct and take the credit. I am convinced that liberalism is a mental disorder, where people are not rational, reasonable and totally in left field. This is the problem with our country, you liberals are mentally challenged AND DON'T COMPREHEND WHAT IS RIGHT OR WRONG.
I think some of the folks blaming Congress for not rubber stamping Obama'a proposals should go back and look through their middle school civics lessons. I understood it is Congress job to write the bills and the president gets involved at the signing or veto point.
He can make proposals, but it is not Congress job to rubber stamp them as Obama and his fans want.
