Mack calls for Rubio to be on Romney's ticket

MIAMI, Fla. -- Rep. Connie Mack (R-FL) walked into a room full of supporters, American flags, and Romney for President placards at this afternoon's grand opening of the GOP's Miami Victory Office.

After pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States, Mack took the floor where he took some swipes at President Obama and the Democratic senator from Florida, Bill Nelson.

"You know, Sen. Nelson is a lockstep liberal with Barack Obama," said Mack, the heavy favorite to win the Aug. 14th GOP Senate primary. He'd face Nelson in a general election. "When Barack Obama needed to pass the health-care law he turned to his friend in the Senate Bill Nelson, and Bill Nelson was there to help him. When he wanted to pass their stimulus bill, he turned to his friend Bill Nelson, and Bill Nelson was there to help him. When he wanted to make sure that the Keystone XL pipeline wasn't built, he got on the phone and called his friend Bill Nelson, and Bill Nelson stood with the president instead of the American people."

He added, "So we're gonna make sure the people in the state of Florida know that with Senator Nelson you have a lockstep liberal who believes in government. With me, with Gov. Romney, you have someone that believes in you. You'll have a government that believes it's the individual that makes this country great not government and not bureaucracies."

Following his speech, Mack had an enthusiastic response for a reporter who asked for his thoughts on the other Florida senator, Marco Rubio, a Republican, possibly being Romney's choice for vice president.

"Are you kidding?" Mack said. "Sen. Rubio would be great! And for all of us in Florida, we recognize that if Sen. Rubio is on the ticket it's good for America it's good for the state of Florida. It almost ensures that Sen. Nelson will be retired after this time. So I'm hopeful."

And in case the press and his supporters hadn't heard him the first time, he added, "I keep saying I think Marco Rubio would be fantastic, and I hope that he's picked."

The last question Mack received was whether he felt Romney's trip abroad was a success.

"It's nice to see such a contrast between the failures of the Obama administration and what Mitt Romney stands for and believes in," Mack said, "the strength of his character, so I'm thankful that Romney is showing America what a true leader looks like."

Connie Mack, Jr. is not the man his father was - not nearly as smart, and I wasn't a big fan of his dad, but his dad could be reasoned with. Not sonny boy.

Now, is it just me or is this yet again another non-answer to a direct question??? What is Mitt Romney's character? How is Mitt Romney a true leader? By offending the London Olympic Committee? Having your traveling press secretary yell "kiss my a$$" to the press corp? That's a true leader???? I think NOT!

Huffington Post, June 13. "Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) announced support for his state's controversial voter purge effort on Wednesday, saying it was hard to disagree with the push to clear supposed non-citizens from the electoral rolls."

_______

Senator Rubio needs to address voter suppression in his own damn state before he is invited to be on a national ticket. The stories coming out of Florida regarding election day voters are a disgrace to our democracy.

American Civil Liberties Union:

The right to vote is what makes a country a true democracy, and it is the most basic right we share as Americans. Yet throughout our history, we have excluded indispensable voices from participating in our democracy. African-Americans, women and young people fought and risked their lives to gain the right to vote.

Voter turnout in the 2008 election was the most racially diverse in American history, closing the longstanding gap between white and minority voter participation. And in response to this historic moment, lawmakers nationwide have erected more barriers to the ballot box. States are making it harder and harder for people to vote, virtually guaranteeing that many people won't really have the right at all. Poll taxes and literacy tests have given way to more modern voter suppression tactics packaged as voter ID laws, restrictions to voter registration and cuts to early voting. With these new laws in effect, up to 5 million voters could be turned away at the polls in November.
We cannot afford to have laws that push people out of the electorate. In order for this to be a true democracy, every eligible American must be able to vote.

________

George Will just said the other day that he didn't think we should have early voting. This is what our media is saying in 2012. They want to just walk in and steal/buy the election.

Don't stand for this America. We need to be united on this.

Who is Connie Mack, and why don't I give a sh!t?

Pat Boston MA. -- We are on to the old GOP tricks to rig the election. Not just in FL but also in PA there is proof (video, testimony, etc.) that the intent of the new ID laws are to suppress the vote -- effectively with a poll tax contrary to Voter Rights Act -- but particularly the black vote in FL. This is on record!

Throwing Teapublicans out isn't enough. Many belong in jail.

True Patriot, I agree with you. Many of them in fact do belong in jail. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FLA) was a guest on Rev. Al's show just now. She mentioned gottavote.org. I just went to the site and they have these sites set up in a lot of states for those who are concerned/have questions, etc. about being eligible to vote in November.

I hope this site assists those who are wondering what the hell is going on in America.

Yet another turncoat Republican trying to get Obama reelected! What the hell is the matter with these people? They KNOW that Rubio, while born in Miama which makes him a 14th Amendment (naturalized) citizen, his parents were not U.S. citizens when he was born so he is NOT a 'natural born citizen' as required by the Constitution. The GOP/RNC knows this yet every time you turn around they're pushing Rubio or Jindal. If one of them gets the Veep nod, millions upon millions of patriotic Americans will vote third party or simply stay home in disgust thus reelecting Obama. Is that what they WANT?!?

Note to the GOP/RNC: CHOOSE WISELY!!

The last question Mack received was whether he felt Romney's trip abroad was a success.

Here's the deal.

I would like to believe that when Americans travel abroad, that we all treat our host country with dignity. It matters not if you are in line with their policies or their history. You may even find that they aren't exactly in line with our policies or history here in America.

If anything, it should make for some interesting conversations over a few beers, wine, vodka, etc.

There is always at the back of our minds this thing called graciousness. We're not politicians, we're not journalists, we're just tourists, but even we know it is best to extend respect and courtesy at all times. We are guests after all. And if we are fortunate, all such meetings end with a hug or a handshake and an exchange of emails. Friendships are borne.

Something Romney didn't quite grasp.

But whoever that is, he/she will be another great failure.

He/she will be a vice, a running mate, a vice ..unpresidential...running-away...mate. I don't even know why they are still thinking about this - there no chance for Mitt the Monkey to win.

I can find 5000 Repubes out there right now who want to see Rubio picked as a Veep, and will tell you that Obama sucks. I mean, they could save time and just interview Vag-Bob or WCA, they're here online right now, and get the same result......

First Read - he took some swipes at President Obama and the Democratic senator from Florida, Bill Nelson.

"You know, Sen. Nelson is a lockstep liberal with Barack Obama. So tell me, my Lib friends, how is this "taking swipes" at Bill Nelson?

Am I wrong or are comments such as these made by Mack the kind of thing that make you proud to be a liberal?

If Bill Nelson stood up and said that Marco Rubio is a Lock Step Conservative, i would think that was a compliment not a "Swipe".

Only here in the delusional world that is FIrst Read, I suppose.

Just another typical politician, trying to push his own agenda. Jr. wants Rubio's Senate seat, so he's hoping Rubio becomes VP, thus an opening for Jr., who otherwise would have to try to defeat Nelson, who Jr. knows he can't defeat.

I am so tired of the political gamesmanship coming out of the GOP lately. With the primary win by Cruz in Texas, it looks like the extremists are fully taking over the party. What will likely happen is the Tea Party will continue to push out anyone who does not walk in goose step with them and eventually they will shrink it down to the point where it can be drowned in a bathtub.

No, you have to write two false biographies like Obama did. The ghost writer has to be a former American terrorist and your mentor a card carrying communist party member.

But that will only qualify you to be on the Democratic Party ticket.

Yeah, that Romney World Tour was a big success!

- In London, he insulted the Brits by questioning their readiness and enthusiasm for the Olympics.

- In Jerusalem, he insulted the Palestinians by saying their economy was a result of their culture and praised Israelis for being so healthy and spending so little on health care even though they have government-run universal health care.

- In Warsaw, he praised Poland's "robust" economy for living within its means and for not being dominated by the government even though Poland's unemployment stands at 12.4%, per capita GDP is $20,600 (compared to $49,000 in the US) and Government Spending was 44% of GDP (compared to 41% of GDP in the US). Oh, and by the way, did you know Poland also has government-run universal health care and they pay $300 to every couple when they have a baby (depending on need, $600)?

Well done, sir!!!

What would Romney gain by putting Rubio on the ticket? Rubio has skeletons in his closet. While some of those skeletons have already been found more are to be found for sure. The Democrats are primed and waiting to attack if Rubio is the choice. If the intent is to buy Hispanic votes, forget it. Hispanics aren't that stupid. They don't vote for the guy only because he is Hispanic especially when they know his attitudes on issues near and dear to the hearts of the Hispanic population and they don't like it.

Black pastors group launches anti-Obama campaign around gay marriage

        By Dan Merica, CNN

Washington (CNN) – A group of conservative black pastors are responding to President Barack Obama’s support of same-sex marriage with what they say will be a national campaign aimed at rallying black Americans to rethink their overwhelming support of the President, though the group’s leader is offering few specifics about the effort.

The Rev. Williams Owens, who is president and founder of the Coalition of African-Americans Pastors and the leader of the campaign, has highlighted opposition to same-sex marriage among African-Americans. He calls this campaign “an effort to save the family.”

“The time has come for a broad-based assault against the powers that be that want to change our culture to one of men marrying men and women marrying women,” said Owens, in an interview Tuesday after the launch event at the National Press Club. “I am ashamed that the first black president chose this road, a disgraceful road.”

At the press conference, Owens was joined by five other black regional pastors and said there were 3,742 African-American pastors on board for the anti-Obama campaign.

When asked at the press conference for specifics about the campaign – funding, planned events and goals – Owens said only that the group’s first fundraiser will be on August 16 in Memphis, Tennessee. But Owens insisted that “we are going to go nationwide with our agenda just like the president has gone to Hollywood.”

Looks like the Rattlesnakes are beginning to commit suicide! The decision to pander to the Hispanic vote added 800,000 illegal aliens to the job market in the black 18-30 demographic where the unemployment rate is 40%! Now he's abandoned a major part of the leadership in his own black constituency... All decisions made out of desperation of a failed presidency and a failing president!!!

By 2028, we will have a whole new crop of GOP patriotic heros to choose from.
