Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.) is running for Senate. LaTourette, who is one of labor’s closest allies in the Republican Conference — and a lawmaker with a long interest in bipartisanship, as well as a loyal lieutenant to Boehner — might have viewed himself as an ideal chairman at Labor-HHS.”

8 years of GOP (1921-1929) led to the Great Depression, FDR did not turn around after his first term, but people had enough confidence in him to re-elect him in 1936. Voters were right. FDR one of the greatest presidents ever. But the recession did not end until after 1945 (after the end of WWII). That tells you how much damages the GOP leaders had done. Bush had done worse this time around.

i'm probably not as old, but after 67 years i've seen many presidents and i believe president obama will stand in the top 5% of outstanding leaders. he has been on top of every mess taking out binladen, rescuing the auto industry, saving millions of jobs, creating a health safety net for everyone, providing historically low taxes for the working class, taking the troops out of iraq, while working with a do nothing republican party which will tell people like you any thing you want to hear and then throw you away like a piece of garbage, now that republican party will go down as not only the worst in history, but the ones who tried to give away america.

'Old Fat Guy' - I disagree - President Reagan had a much worse economy and political situation when he took over from the nuclear peanut. The difference was, he didn't whine, but went to work, and restored the economic, military, and political situation to put America back on top. Funny thing is, he did so with grace, class, and a self-deprecating sense of humor. What a contrast to the current President.
there has been no other Pres. at least in the last 40 years who had it as bad as Pres. Obama. While we're on the subject of fox, I find it extremely disconcerting that every time I walk into a hospital, doctors office, hotel lobby or restaurant, fox it on the television. I told my husband that those places must getting a kick back on their cable bill.

'Palm Springs' - Do you read what you post before sending it? No one has said that Medicare and SS will end. If you had read the Ryan plan, you would know that what you say is just not true. I agree with you that Congress should be on the same plan as the rest of us, but that is a separate issue.

Jonathan, take a look at all the legislation proposed in the last 3.5 years and who has voted for it if actual votes even took place. Then tell me who has proposed legislation that would actually create jobs? Who has voted for legislation that would actually create jobs? (Lies about job production don't count. i.e. 100,00 jobs from the XL Pipeline vs. the actual 20,000 that might be created.) It is obvious from such an examination that Republicans in congress have no interest in actually creating jobs. It's all talk, but no action.

Luckily Romney is an experienced Governor, and has economics expertise. Obama as you recall had neither when he took office. Now he has shown he can not do either. He readily gives the GOP credit for being in control of his inability to lead, even though half of his administration he had a supermajority to get things done.

Black pastors group launches anti-Obama campaign around gay marriage

Washington (CNN) – A group of conservative black pastors are responding to President Barack Obama’s support of same-sex marriage with what they say will be a national campaign aimed at rallying black Americans to rethink their overwhelming support of the President, though the group’s leader is offering few specifics about the effort.
The Rev. Williams Owens, who is president and founder of the Coalition of African-Americans Pastors and the leader of the campaign, has highlighted opposition to same-sex marriage among African-Americans. He calls this campaign “an effort to save the family.”
“The time has come for a broad-based assault against the powers that be that want to change our culture to one of men marrying men and women marrying women,” said Owens, in an interview Tuesday after the launch event at the National Press Club. “I am ashamed that the first black president chose this road, a disgraceful road.”
At the press conference, Owens was joined by five other black regional pastors and said there were 3,742 African-American pastors on board for the anti-Obama campaign.
When asked at the press conference for specifics about the campaign – funding, planned events and goals – Owens said only that the group’s first fundraiser will be on August 16 in Memphis, Tennessee. But Owens insisted that “we are going to go nationwide with our agenda just like the president has gone to Hollywood.”
Looks like the Rattlesnakes are beginning to commit suicide! The decision to pander to the Hispanic vote added 800,000 illegal aliens to the job market in the black 18-30 demographic where the unemployment rate is 40%!
