TAMPA, Fla. -- South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) called on government contractors to put employees on layoff notice before November's election as a way to pressure Congress to address the so-called "fiscal cliff."
Graham, joined by Republican Sens. John McCain (AZ) and Kelly Ayotte (NH), were in Florida for their first stop on a two-day, four-state tour by these three members of the Senate Armed Services Committee designed to bring attention to the $500 billion in automatic cuts scheduled to begin in January if Congress does not find other ways to cut spending.
“Politicians, you know, quite frankly respond to pressure,” Graham said about the cuts set to begin in 2013 under the so-called sequestration budget.
“I’m urging every defense industry that could be affected by sequestration to put your employees on notice before November,” he continued. “The more it becomes real to us as to what comes the nation’s way, the more likely we are to solve the problem.”
Graham delivered the remarks inside a University of South Florida auditorium here in Tampa this morning to an audience of military veterans, academics, and defense contractors.
Some in the audience were linked to nearby MacDill Air Force base, a sprawling installation housing the U.S. Central Command, the organization that oversees America’s military activity in the Middle East, including Iraq and Afghanistan.
“There is gridlock in Washington,” McCain said as he warmed the crowd shortly after taking the podium. “I don’t need to tell you that. It’s hard these days, trying to do the Lord’s work in the city of Satan.”
The line won laughs, but much of the humor today was strictly of the gallows variety.
Before the event began, audience members mingled and expressed satisfaction that South Florida’s defense industry was being recognized.
“I think they’re playing politics with peoples’ lives,” Donna S. Huneycutt, the executive vice president of a small government consulting firm, said of Congress in an interview.
Huneycutt said she has a staff of 62 people, and nearly had to lay people off last year as a result of earlier budget cuts.
“I’d like to see both sides come to the table and compromise,” she said.
McCain, Graham, and Ayotte called for a bipartisan solution to the crisis.
They signaled they would break with other Republicans and would accept closing loopholes in the tax code in return for concessions from Democrats, including cuts to entitlement programs.
“We shouldn’t put our troops in this position,” Ayotte said. “We shouldn’t put our military feeling like they have the sword of Damocles hanging over their head.”
Ayotte, the wife of a retired Air National Guard pilot who flew combat missions over Iraq, is a buzzed-about prospect for the number-two slot on presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s ticket and is rumored to be on his short list.
The town hall tour was scheduled to make stops later today in Fayetteville, NC and Norfolk, VA – also home to key military communities.
The tour will wrap Tuesday morning in Merrimack, NH at a facility for the defense contractor BAE Systems.

Where's Fisty? She take my advice and go buy some meat with the food stamps my tax dollars pay for?
Cutting $500B won't lose too many jobs, will it? You libbys crack me up. All the unexpected consequences. Well if you paid even a little attention to facts and history they wouldn't be so unexpected.
Just like how raising taxes won't bring in more revenue (hint: look at capital gains tax history).
Do a little homework.
RedSox - your idiotic post about your tax dollars paying for anything for anyone on this site is juvenile - at best! But, your entire post - most of them - are juvenile at best. You should an intense lack of intelligence with every post. And, your constant regurgitating of the stale GOP idiocies is beyond boring.
You don't have any idea of how things work. If you did, you would know that the last recession, taxes were raised and spending was increased and that is what got us out of our recession.
But, go on and post your nonsense. It's clearly all you've got.
Obama/Biden 2012
Lindsey Graham (R) aims to stir up feelings of depression about the economy.
He is sewing strategic seeds of doubt.
Don't be fooled...
This is another Rovian strategy to disenfranchize voters.
Please let me know when you find your sanity, then we can talk. Until then, I suggest you do some research.
LMAO
Heck, in your disturbed mind why not raise taxes another 10% on everyone, and increase spending so our debt can get even more out of control. That's the ticket.
Spend your time looking for your sanity. It will be a much better use of it.
RedSox - you have no sanity at all. You've proved that over and over again. You show no logic or even slight intelligence yet you insist on screaming your stupidity at the top of your lungs.
As usual - no sanity to be found in the GOP which you proved many times, every day!
Obama/Biden 2012
Seems like you are getting more insane by the minute. Keep looking for your sanity. You may find it some day. In the meantime I will pray for you.
RedSox - no thank you! You're just the type of person who goes to church then spreads your venom for the rest of the week. I don't want anyone like you praying for me.
Why don't you try to do something about your own demented mind? That would be a huge step up for you! If you thought I was great I'd know I needed to get serious help.
Obama/Biden 2012
It's gonna be sad and quiet around here after Red Sux and his cronies are sent packing in November. Who will we make joke meat out of?
Seeking,
The GOP wants the economy in a tailspin. They want as many folks laid off as possible.
But if they can't do that....they will at least tell people they are GOING to be fired...before the election.
As Lyndsay Graham just did.
tony, if someone gets sent packing it would have to be Obama since he is the one in office, and it would get real quiet around here then, wouldn't it.
Well, I hope you're right and he gets sent packing.
Insanity, I will continue to pray for you. Best of luck in your search for your sanity.
tony - RedSox lives in his own demented world. He'll be so depressed come November 7th. But, he should have seen it coming. Hatred will destroy a party as it is doing the GOP.
They just have themselves to blame.
Insanity, the only ones around here spewing hatred seems to be the libbys. You may want to go re-read some of your posts in that regard. Then again, until you find your sanity it may be one of the other personas inhabiting your head.
I will continue to pray for you.
Trust me, I will still be pretty happy in November no matter what happens in this election. That's because I am not insane like you (according to you nick). I fear what you may do to yourself or others when Obama sent packing.
The moron libs think that if Obama wins, they will be much better. Explain that to me because if Obama wins a second term it will be horror unleashed. He won't have to answer to anyone for another election. If you think he has any plans for benevolence, you can eliminate the bene from it. He's already told Putin that he will have more flexibility after the election... doesn't that make you at least a little bit concerned as to his plans for this country? Flexibility... for WHAT?????
Liberals are blind when it comes to Obama. Oh, they'll say they don't agree with some of his policies but with Obama it has to be all or nothing because his policies have an agenda behind them... and that is to create fundamental change for this country... fundamental change... Define that Mr. Obama... to this day you haven't even attempted to define what fundamental change means... but we see plenty of change occuring... Tell me your plans with Putin involved sending another astronaut in space.. since you gutted NASA... isn't that outsourcing?
Well that settles it. Better start packin' because he's gonna win, hands down. Romney's too much of a flip floppin' idiot to secure anyone's confidence except yours.
Tony, calling the election 100 days early makes you sound a bit like the insane guy on this board.
Here's something from CNBC:
One analysis concludes that last week's sharp three-day market surge can only mean that Wall Street is banking on a victory from Republican Mitt Romney.
That's the logical interpretation one can draw from a rally amid conditions that otherwise would demand a selloff, Morgan Stanley chief U.S. equity strategist Adam S. Parker said in an analysis that asserts there is no other reason now to like stocks than a Romney win.
Ladies:
Looking for work? The GOP is looking for women to strip or whatever for their convention in Tampa. Remember, this is the party of family values, so be sure to get paid up front!
Phine,
Hope you're feeling fair to middling. Sending healing nen your way >>>>
Backhouse
I'm sure the
whore, er I mean lady reporters at Fox would be all too happy to obligeRedsox, you do realize job growth occurs when President's raise taxes.
Even President Reagan raised taxes.
President W. Bush lowered taxes and turned a surplus into massive deficit.
Romney wants to continue troops in Iraq, spent years saying he would increase troops in Afghanistan, wanted American troops in Libya, wants troops in Syria, and said he would send every single American ship to Iran's waters.
If Romney were President in 2012, we would have needed a military 3 times larger than during the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. Not to mention it would have resulted in another $3 trillion in debt.
Romney's policies are the anti-Reagan policies of today's Republican party. President Reagan knew you can't spend trillions in other countries if you have high debt to GDP. Romney's foreign policies are more like the Soviet Union than President Obama and President Reagan.
Romney hates America so much that he keeps his money in other countries.
Dan, what was the capital gains tax under Carter, and how about Reagan? Dimwit.
Please try to explain the economics where higher taxes creates private sector jobs.
Try living in the real world.
Let me help you with some facts:
www .taxpolicycenter.org/taxfacts/displayafact.cfm?Docid=213
RedSox:
The capital gains tax when Jimmy Carter was president was 70% (when he took office). He lowered the capital gains tax to 50%. Reagan's tax cuts then lowered the rate to something like 28% (a bit hazy on that exact percentage). Capital gains rates are much lower under Obama. President Obama has presided over the lowest tax rates in your lifetime Dan. And taxes were very low under W. (the worst job creating president since Hoover - although close race with his father). President Carter's administration created more jobs per month than the Reagan administration. In fact, the Kennedy- Johnson, Carter, and Clinton years were all good job creation years (times when taxes were higher than now). However, Carter had the misfortune to govern at a time when American manufacturing was going down the tubes (due to issues of quality) and oil prices were going through the ceiling - all of which led to inflation. To that end, Carter appointed Paul Volker as federal reserve chairman, who killed inflation by imposing massive interest rate hikes (without regard to anything Reagan did), and Carter drastically lowered taxes/fees on domestic oil production, which he considered high at that time. Demographics helped Reagan as much as any of his policies (as young untrained baby boomers gathered skill, experience and education - becoming income producers rather than public resource consumers).
If you believe that an entrepreneur would turn down a good investment or business origination opportunity because his marginal rate above $250,000 would rise from 35% to 38%, then necessarily, you believe people making $500,000 per year would rather stay home or keep their money in a bank rather than make $493,500 per year. That would make you an idiot. (At one million gross, the difference becomes $22,500. Who would want the measly
$632,500 after tax money ? Of course, the net after taxes would be much more assuming a good tax accountant who could get you much more than the standard deduction of about 5K. Most taxpayers of that ilk with a large mortgage and misc. deductions would only be paying about 18 to 22% of their gross). Why would Tom Cruise do a movie when he could only keep 12.4 million after taxes rather than 13 million after taxes? Who would want to create jobs under such severe conditions? Who would want the perks of being a CEO or a CFO when they could only keep 62% after the first 250K - after all the deductions the code provides? Why get out of bed? Perhaps if the rich could keep all of their income and eat the babies of the poor, economic production would really skyrocket. Put that on a graph, and tell yourself that the deficit would close faster with NO taxes being paid by the rich. And if you say it enough, because you don't pay any attention to historical data any way, you will believe it.What a hoot.
Cuts in spending only cause cuts in jobs when...it is cuts in DEFENSE spending -- riiight. When teachers, cops, etc. lose their jobs, no problem! This little ploy ain't gonna work.
BeyondDemocrat, I think you are way out in the corner of left field, by the fence, in the corner with your face down in the mud ....... Please prove to me that capital gains tax rate was EVER at 70% !!!
Then you say Carter lowered it to 50% ..... got any proof or are you merely talking out your a$$ ???????
Beyond dumb, you have never been an entrepreneur. That much is very obvious.
The point is that raising taxes is the wrong thing to do. From any given point the only way to create private sector jobs is to lower taxes from whatever the then current rate is.
Do a bit of research on the massive amount of tax revenue that was GENERATED by LOWERING the capital gains tax to 10%.
Actually, I did not give Carter as much credit as he deserved for cutting taxes. What he did in 1978 was to exempt 60% of the 70% unearned income tax rate for capital gains - resulting in a 28% top marginal rate on capital gains (40% X 70% = 28%). Interestingly, note that the top capital gains rate up until the 1970s varied between 70% and 91%. See www.ctj.org/pdf/regcg.pdf Note that during the records gains of gdp in the 1960s, the top marginal rates for both earned and unearned income was 70% or more. And again, the tax rates today are the lowest since the Great Depression. You have never lived under lower tax rates. So if low tax rates are the key to prosperity, then why did the economy tank under Bush? And why aren't those good ole low tax rates jump starting everything now? The capital gains tax rates now for the top earners are between 15 and 20%. We can't get any more gas out of lower taxes. The utility for jobs gains approaches zero. But the loss in revenue is enormous - because the multiplier does matter. Billions X zero = zero. By the way, we don't have a 10% capital gains rate for top earners - even now. But millionaires get to bank 85% of their long term capital gains. I wouldn't cry if they had to go back to banking only 72% of capital gains over $250,000. I'm just merciless that way.
Except they know full well it will never happen because Mitch McConnell will filibuster any concessions in the tax codes to Democrats. How generous of them.
Go figure, the champions of fiscal responsibility are leading the charge for weapons systems the DOD does not want. Congress got the F-22 it wanted over pentagon objections. It doesn't work. The current stand-off is the M1A1 tank production the army is attempting to mothball. No dice sez deficit hawk Boner "We need the jobs to get re-elected and so we can blame the spending on Obama.
More fear mongering accompanied by the obligatory scary music!
You really have to laugh at these clowns who only work 9 days a month talking about 'lay-off's'...
Is this their solution to the J-O-B creation they ran on in 2010?
I think a lot of those "government consulting firms" have made the economy what it is today. WAH Donna!
The senators mention in the article were the ones who voted for the rules of the sequestration and the triggers and tax cuts expiration on Dec 31.2012.
The simple solution is to extend the tax cuts for those making under $250,000. and let the tax cuts expire fro those making above $250,000. Democrats are on board and Obama will sign that bill.
I think they should be speaking to Boehner about moving forward with this.
Let the spending cuts stand. Spending cuts were all the GOP were talking about a year ago... cut spending!!!!
Now they are really worried that Dems are taking them at their word.
If you would quit running around trying to play preacher man and do your damn jobs, then you might find life in the city of Satan (wherever that is) a little more pleasant.
Red,
The city of Satan is Tampa. Just heard on local news they are trying to hire more strippers for their "red light" district because the GOP go to them more than the DEMS. Gotta love the party of family values!
Where is Larry Flynt when you need him?,,oh' that's right he will be in Tampa catching these hypocrite religious rethugs and their tea-bag co-horts red handed!Except MITT-WITT & HIS MAGIC UNDERWEAR! Hahahahaha!.....Obama/Biden 2012
Hey red headed fisty the communist. WHY ARE YOU UNEMPLOYED?
Hey tony smith, who just registered today, WHY ARE YOU AN IDIOT?
Nobody is better at fear mongering than Obama...remember...
Hey Tony Smith - not that she needs anyone to speak for her, Feisty is quite capable of doing that for her self, but why don't you stop with the personal attacks and stick to the program?
I hope Grover Norquist didn't hear that!
Norquist will disown them!
McCain's so old, I don't think he even knows where he is anymore. These republican blowhards are a freakin' joke. Speaking of people that need to go, how about starting with this version of the three stooges.
Oh Yippee ah eh, Yippee Ayotte - another scandal laden VP option. Rubio or Ayotte, which one has the better scandal.
http://voices.yahoo.com/former-hampshire-attorney-general-kelly-ayotte-6082772.html
Jobs....what's that?....Gubment Contractors?
.....What's that....Let's remember, the Gubment doesn't create jobs, so screeched the TeaPeople!
...So let's move on.........over the "Fiscal Cliff"!
The Republican Party are monsters. Hey, let's not pass a Jobs Bill. Let's lay more people off, for political gain. Way to go Republicans.
Huffington Post:
In another interview on CNN's Situation Room, Israel's defense minister, Ehud Barak, told Blitzer that Obama's administration had done more to support the relationship between the two nations than any he could remember.
h/t Obama Diary: (Reuters) –
Polish Solidarity distances itself from Romney visit
Solidarity, the trade union movement which led the Polish struggle against communist rule, distanced itself on Monday from a visit to Poland by U.S. presidential candidate Mitt Romney, saying he supported attacks on unions in his own country.
“Regretfully, we were informed by our friends from the American headquarters of (trade union federation) AFL-CIO, which represents more than 12 million employees … that Mitt Romney supported attacks on trade unions and employees’ rights,” Solidarity said in a statement. “Solidarity was not involved in organizing Romney’s meeting with Walesa and did not invite him to visit Poland.” Romney has in the past complained about “union bosses” who he said have donated large sums of money to Obama’s re-election campaign.
Romney Quietly Hires Consulting Firm With Sordid History of Democratic Voter Registration Forms:
Late last year, Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign began paying Nathan Sproul, a political consultant with a long history of destroying Democratic voter registration forms and manipulating ballot initiatives. Sproul, who changed his firm’s name from Sproul and Associates to Lincoln Strategies, has received over $70,000 from Romney’s campaign. Much of the campaign coverage has focused on the rhetoric of surrogates and the role of high-priced television advertisements. But if Sproul continues to play a role in the campaign, and if his previous work is any guide, his firm may have an impact on key swing states.
________________
The Republicans can't be trusted with anything. They are beyond corrupt.
Forgot to give credit to article about Romney hiring Sproul. Here it is -

How ironic is it that Cheney is now saying that picking Palin as the VP was a mistake. Never in the history of our country was there a bigger VP selection mistake than Cheney.
Not in his mind.
While in the same breath calling the wild Alaskan ding-bat "attractive"!
Typical old white horn-dog who thinks with his little head!
I predicted back in 2008, once they were done using her, they would toss her aside like a used Kleenex!
Dick, as head of the VP selection committee for Dubya.....picked himself!........In his mind, he's the greatest!
and they call Obama narcissistic? Go figure.
Looks like the team of Bush/Cheney will be absent from the GOP Convention. Which is odd, considering the MittWitt has adopted all their policies, and then some.
Interesting how Dan Senor is supposed to be some sort of foreign policy expert these days. What is wrong with our media?! He's now Romney's biggest foreign policy advisor.
############
"This is the United States in 2012 and Dan Senor is its poster boy. A guy who was wrong about every GD thing to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars, millions of lost jobs, and thousands of dead and maimed Americans, is somehow on TV lecturing the viewing public on how to run foreign policy and manage an economy. When by all rights this joker should be interviewed begging forgiveness wearing a fresh coat of downy tar from an undisclosed location in exile, or better yet, a jail cell.
When future historians try to understand how the most powerful nation on earth could go from winning the Cold War with a nuclear armed adversary, a budget surplus and the strongest post WW2 economy ever seen, to a broke, divided nation mired in debt and unwinnable wars in two decades flat, all they'll have to do is study the life of Dan Senor, the political party he so proudly represents, and the corporate media that enabled it all."
http://freethoughtblogs.com/zingularity/2012/04/27/dan-senor-the-man-who-was-too-wrong-to-fail/
############
Our media continues to fail us. After all we have been through as a nation, our media continues to hold these people up as if they actually know something.
Senor is one of the worst neocons in our lifetime and here he is all over television. Has he no shame at all? What about corporate media itself? Why is he allowed anywhere near a tv set?
Republicans sure know how to stick together, as if they actually know how to do something. Please turn them off. They are liars. And we the people are left to pay the bill.
Thank you Chris Matthews and Rev. Al and Martin Bashir and Lawrence O'Donnell and Rachel Maddow for shining a light on voter suppression.
Ed Schultz, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife. We are all family now through Election Day.
If only Palin and Cheney would do us all a favor and go on a quail hunting spree. With internet ammo freely available - may the best momma/poppa bear win!!
I have a suggestion for all liberal Democrats for the upcoming election.
Due to the increase in tightening the voter laws, please volunteer at the election board so you can help enforce the laws in your state and eliminate any chance the GOP has at influencing the election.
This is going to be a brutally fought war and the Republicans will try to win at any cost.
And I think Hollywood should release the Bin Laden killing film in October as originally scheduled. Yes, two can play nasty games Senator Graham. What a louse! You want people to lose their jobs a little early for political expediency. You don't deserve your seat in the Senate. I hope you are on your way out.
Ana - I'd rather see Boehner lose his seat in the house! As well as as few dozen other GOP obstructionists! Oh, and let's not forget Bachmann - who in their right mind would elect Bachmann to anything on a higher level than a doorstop?
Obama/Biden 2012
Actually Ana, this was kind of a weird thing for him to say. Sounds like they are talking about Defense Contractors. Most of the contractors/suppliers I know in the Auto Industry have a clause in their contract requiring at least a months notice before any lay-off or contract terminations can be enacted.
In the auto industry for the past couple of years contractors or suppliers have been extending that to 2 to 3 months notice because of the volatility in the industry. A lot of programs were getting shelved and suppliers were left holding the bag.
So he probably didn't even need to say this. If it gets to November before this gets settled, which it will, some sort of notice will probably have to go out. But these folks are use to dealing with this kind of crap from both sides, so I really don't think it will phase them much.
How much you want to bet that someone, somewhere has an TV ad already in the can and ready to go blaming "layoffs just before the election" on the current administration?
They could start by cutting their own salary and benefits. Notice they never volunteer to take a cut in pay, instead opting to raise it, yet want to cut other peoples jobs. No wonder they have a single digit approval rating. "The noive of dese idiots!" Keep Obama, put these clowns out to pasture.
Graham's motivations are so obvious, it is unseemly. Either exempt the military industrial complex from the cuts that were part of the grand bargain that all sides agreed to, or ratchet up the layoff notices to make Obama look worse right before the election. In case the worse happens and the GOP takes the Senate and/or Mittens wins, I hope the Democrats have paid attention the last four years. When it comes to absolute opposition - at all costs - and bare knuckle politics, the Republicans have achieved a near perfect score. I don't see any reason to allow anything to pass in a Romney presidency (if we are cursed with such an actuality). The GOP rule has been that the majority party must have 60 votes in the Senate to do anything. The Democrats must follow suit. You cannot have your lunch eaten and then play nice. McConnell announced in advance that there would be no compromise on anything. The Democrats must do the same. And, if the Dems still have a majority in either house, a GOP president should have all of his appointments delayed and delayed. In the last year of said GOP presidency, all judicial appointments should cease. The contempt for the GOP president should be palpable at all times. Moreover, there should be every attempt to exploit any potential scandal - of even the smallest degree - with contempt of Congress. Any opening to point out the traitorous nature of the GOP president or any of his staff should not be missed. There must be constant insinuation that the GOP president is not really an American or that he is a Nazi, to be supplemented with artwork that suggests that the GOP president is not really human or something very vile. The Tea Party and their champions, the Koch Brothers, have created a new American Politics - worse than anything we've seen since the turn of the 20th Century.
Should ask for Romney's "True" birth certificate! His family originated in MEXICO.
Well, nursey just came by to give me my nighttime drug cocktail. Worth it to get to stay at home for a week. Eating real food instead of hospital crap is soooooooooooo very nice. And sleeping through the night without some vampire coming in at 4 am to take a pint of blood.
Sending you lots of golden light healing energy.
Heaven is where you go when you dream. Sleep and grow healthy.
Hey fisty. Why are you unemployed?
I was watching msnbc. Where is Ed Schultz?
tony, His wife has cancer and went in for some surgery, eddie is staying by her side until she is back on her feet.
Nice concern for the middle class there, Mr. Graham. What an elitist snob - he just doesn't give a Mitt about anyone below his station in life.
z
Lindsey Graham is full of it and here's why
Fact. His own party agreed to such defense cuts earlier but now he and the Republicans want to go back on their deal - that they agreed to.
Fact. There is little to no actual cutting. What is being stopped is much in the way of FUTURE INCREASES.
Lindsey Graham is a big sack of horse $h!t. Don't believe him.
Same old story, the republicans voted for the cuts in defence and now are blaming President Obama for what they did.
Just like the deficit. The republican voted for it, said deficits didn't matter. That was until the day President Obama took office then it became the worst thing that the democrats had ever done and President Obama's fault.
Lies are all they have, I can only hope the American people are smarter than to fall for the republican con-game.
VOTE FOR SANITY...VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT 2012
The wealthy Sen. Graham suggesting that people get layed off to make Obama look bad before november election ,WOW........... The Rich make their own rules .......... to get what they want ........they have theirs in the bank ,they dont care about children not eating because their father is out of a job .
POTUS played this one like the master manipulator he is, He had this massive defense cut put in the bill so the repubs would be forced to end the tax cuts for the rich. The repubs cannot do anything but let them expire so they will negotiate to extend the cuts for 250,000 and below and watch the top 2% go back to the old tax rates. Then they will come to an agreement on the defense side of the bill and social programs. It is a win, win for POTUS and he has the repubs right where he wants and the idiot from south carolina took the bait. BRILLIANT!!!
Thats some funny logic... Every Republican Congressman out there knows that his political career is all but over as soon as he agrees to raise any kind of income taxes before we get the budget cut... Wake up and smell the @!$%# your spewing!!!
"Vote for our side or we'll cut your jobs." Is it legal to threaten people in order to get their vote? Isn't there a law against that?
No more than it is illegal for liberals to buy their seats in office with money that they take out of my pocket...
Daniel, your post is nonsensical.
Prove it!
Not to worry - most people working for DOD will probably vote Republican anyhow. The more defense jobs these bozos save the fewer teachers, social workers, and medical help for the poor we'll have. I don't understand their crass belief that you need all that military might in a world that does not fight conventional wars any more - we need an educated populace to win the peace, not more planes, ships, and bombs.
conservative crap is thick here, so far no body remembers {R} congressman phil gramm "eliminated banking safeguards", which helped in great detail, to allow the bush/cheney regime to crash the economy in 08! or whats his names company bain capital, to buy up businesses, and outsource employment to CHINA,MEXICO,INDIA,PAKISTAN, oh yeah mitts bunch did that since the 90's, he made a sinful fortune at the cost to the American public, some religious man eh? and those unfair NO BID CONTRACTS to rebuild iraq/afghanistan given to the VICE PRESIDENTS WIFE'S COMPANY, of course if i didn't think at all, i would say they were unfair, but i do so yes, they were completely illeagel in the eyes of the law, just like the true costs of the wars were classified from 01-08 to keep the American people in the dark! and they still are today, but hey is that called need to know? aww it's just OUR TAX MONEY GIVEN TO CRONIES & ENEMIES! but as long as mitt makes lots of money they say IT'S OK SEND THE JOBS TO CHINA OR PAKISTAN
Ok so in 2010 the GOP ran on Jobs.
Today two headlines clearly state the GOP is against any jobs.
Hey GOP you forced a no agreement and agreed to the auto cuts all in the name of fiscal responsibility.
You have no integrity and your political pandering is even more obvious, "Vote for us and we'll save your Jobs"
The other headline "Mitt Romney to end Wind Energy Tax Credits" This has the potential to destroy over 7000 jobs in Iowa alone. These tax credits are a drop in the ocean 1.6 million compared to the Oil and Gads industry....Hmm guese who's telling him to drop it.
Romney and the GOP are unfit to Govern.
McCain and Graham bot voted for the defense cuts. So, they are hypocrites to the core.
Protecting workers is all fine and good when they're workers building war machines - but God forbid we protect the jobs of people teaching our children or working to stave off hunger. The hypocrisy of the GOP is unbelievable.
Beware the influence of the military industrial complex. Beware the influence of the military industrial complex. Didn't some famous military commander say that? Wasn't he a a Republican? Seems like sage advice. Screw the butter - full speed ahead with the bombs. That's the new Republican mantra.
That was actually Ike that said that, just before he left office...No one heeded his warning. Still do not.
