Kristi Yamaguchi: ‘Mitt Romney brought a huge sense of hope’

Restore Our Future is going up with an ad featuring Olympic athletes touting how Mitt Romney turned around the 2002 Olympic games.

“Mitt Romney brought a huge sense of hope,” says famed figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi in the ad. Yamaguchi won a gold medal in the 1992 and was an ambassador for the 2002 games. She also donated the maximum to Romney's 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns.

“Mitt gets things done,” says Jimmy Shea, who won the 2002 gold medal in Skeleton. “He changed my life.”

“It meant a lot to athletes like myself to be able to realize our dreams,” says speed-skating gold medalist Derek Parra.

The only other pro-Romney ad run this general election has also been by Restore Our Future. Americans continue to have a more negative than positive impression of the former Massachusetts governor, according to the NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll. Just 35 percent viewed him favorably in the latest poll out this month, while 40 percent viewed him negatively.

Here's the script:

Kristi Yamaguchi: As an athlete, you're training your whole life for that one moment at the Olympics.

Narrator: But America's Winter Olympics were mired in scandal and deficits. They turned to Mitt Romney.

Fraser Bullock: He faced a 400 million dollar budget deficit and turned that around to a hundred million dollar surplus.

Narrator: And after September 11th, Romney delivered the Olympics safe and secure.

Jimmy Shea: Mitt gets things done. He changed my life.

Kristi Yamaguchi: Mitt Romney brought a huge sense of hope.

Derek Parra: Mitt allowed athletes like myself to be able to realize our dreams.

Narrator: Restore our Future is responsible for the content of this message.

Kristy Yamaguchi.....another kid born with a silver spoon in her mouth who couldn't win the BIG one, like her buddy, Mitt.

He got the Government (taxpayers) to bail out the 2002 Olympics. Where did the 100 million profit go? Back to the government? Anyone know?

Romney's great Olympic challenge of finding a way to finance the (Romney's Mormon State) Utah, Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, while the Olympic committee was committing fraud, and were prosecuted for stealing funds, was ok if we forget the logistics of how Romney did it, while profiting, too.

It led to his election as Governor of Massachusetts, where he took the state to 47th out of 50 for job creation....no gold medal there, Mitt!

Remember who was President of the United States when Romney got selected by the Mormons, while Romney is a high leader of the Mormon Church, to head up the Olympics in Utah in 2002!

Remember Romney's comments telling the athletes "You did not build this, America did" , while uniforms were being manufactured in the Romney Enterprise Zones and not in America!

Remember how Romney saved the Winter Olympics? Romney did not invest his money to save the Olympics!

Romney got our tax dollars from George Bush and Dick Cheney to fund his profitable venture into the Olympics! In other words, we bailed his ass out! Why should Romney get the credit for that?

While our economy was dropping like a rock, he convinced our government to kick in millions to help his city of Salt Lake get Olympified!

If we could see Romney's tax returns we could see how much he made off us in this venture!

Why should we be overjoyed at the thought of an Olympian, with no understannding of the logistics behind what Romney did, going to bat for him?

Olympians should be thanking the Americans who had to pay thirty five per cent in taxes, while Romney only paid fifteen, to pave their road to fame!

Another news article by the right leaning news agency that puts out fair and balanced news that pushes the Republican agenda! It was not Romney that bailed out the Olympics at all! It was our US Tax dollars by the hundreds of millions that did it!

Is this another left wing liberal media news story...I think not!

It's both funny and pathetic how you BOZO supporters search and search and search for something bad to say about Romney. Whether you want to admit it or not he did turn the olympics around and he did it while using class and hard work. He did create a very successful business that was well-known as one of the best of its kind in the world. He has actually WORKED most of his life and he has created a very nice family with a very good, respectable wife. He gave away his inheritance, earned what he has now and gives about 19% of his earnings to charities. He didn't take any salary while Governor and has indicated he won't take a salary as President.

He hasn't paid anyone to hide any part of his past. He hasn't lied about himself 38 times in two autobiographies. He didn't tell us he was a constitutional law professor while only being a guest lecturer at a constitutional law class. He hasn't sought to ban Bibles from military hospitals and prohibit invocations of Jesus during military funerals. He hasn't cut funding from religious schools or omitted God and religion from public speeches. He hasn't made any stupid mistakes like stopping the Keystone pipeline, thus damaging the US/Canadian trust, and allowing the Chinese to now swoop in and get that oil. He hasn't made any promise to the Russians that he will be more flexible in negotiations after the elections when he doesn't actually have to do what he promises the American people. He hasn't tried to divide us by class. He hasn't skipped out on the D-Day Memorial for three years in a row; the last skip being to attend a fundraiser in California instead. He doesn't make irrational promises to get votes. He hasn't belittled the leader of Israel during one of his visits here. He doesn't make misleading speeches in Oklahoma to try to cover up his keystone mistake.

What is it that you liberals really want?

Why not to vote for Romney- Let us count the ways...:p First off-he wants to redistribute our middle class money to the wealthy-reverse socialism. Then he will use those tax cuts to send his money to Switzerland, the Cayman Island, etc. In order to pay for his tax cuts, he wants to replace medicare with useless vouchers. Yeah, let's throw grandma and grandpa so Mitt and Boy George will have more money they can tinkle overseas.

Next, let's talk about national security. As a 4 time deferrment candidate, does Romney really have the cajones to be commander in chief? If he can't handle himself in London, what makes us confident he will stand up to the Chinese, Iranians, or Russians?

Third, he is using the same advisers that Bush used for economics and foreign policy. We all know how badly the economy fared under Bush, and their cowboy diplomacy caused us many troubles in the world. If you love that discredited and stupid economic policy called voodoo economics aka tinkle down economics, then you would love the Romney show! More money for millionaires and billionaires taken directly from the pockets of the middle class!

That was just for starters. Does anyone else have reasons not to vote for Mitt the twit?

Romney didn't turn the olympics around, we did. 1.3 billion of our hard earned money.

          Jack,

Romney paid a lower tax rate than some because he is primarily paying capital gains taxes now. THAT MEANS HE ALREADY PAID A HIGH TAX RATE ON THE MONEY THAT HE INVESTED TO EARN THE PROFITS THAT HE IS AGAIN BEING TAXED ON. THE CAPITAL GAINS TAXES ARE TAXES ON PROFITS FROM MONEY THAT HE ALREADY PAID TAXES ON. He has done nothing wrong! What about that don't you understand? When you add the 19% of his net earnings that he gives to charities, he pays a hell of a lot of his earnings to taxes plus charities. He has paid more taxes than most people earn in their life times. He has given more money to charities than most people will earn in their life times, but you libbies still whine!

You are pathetic. If I had a child that whined like you and was as ignorant as you and most of the rest of the libbies, I would put them up for adoption or put them in the river in a small, sinking boat.

All that shows is there are 2 sets of rules, one for the average Joe and one for Willard and his ilk. So basically once you have made it you can just sit back and count your money, the system will protect you as long as you're rich.

What a pity that Romney destroyed records from the 2002 Olympics. We can only take his word about his accomplishments there.

What a pity he destroyed records from his governorship of Massachusetts. We can only take his word about his accomplishments there.

What a pity that we can't see any records from Bain. We can only take his word about his accomplishments there.

But when President Obama rightfully takes credit for the good things he's done--why, it's a forgery.

RedSoxRule, I really want to like you--my handle on FoxSports is yankeesbite1138--but you make it really difficult by defending someone who really has no record. What exactly can Gov. Romney prove that he's done that's good for the country, with so many destroyed records?

Funny the ad never mentions the huge amount of cash Willard lobbied the governemnt for. Willard's Olympics got bailed out, that's the only reason they hit their budget. Is this the best this guy can do??? How pathetic!

Mitt brought the sense of hope to the Olympics with millions in taxpayer dollars. You can turn around alot of messes when you through money at them.

And all the EMPTY SEATS that they screwed up on and trying to fill them with people off the streets , soldiers, school children and anyone! Jay Leno made a joke about that last night!! Two guys from the Salt Lake City Olympics was on TV and they said Romney WAS A FANTASTIC business man with the Olympics-took it from debt ridden to a $100 MILLION DOLLAR SURPLUS AFTER all the money and bills were paid off!! WOW!!!! They said that money has been used and being used for future athletes !!! That is why they all LOVE him!!! He will make a good President-someone that can BALANCE a budget and get us out of this recession that Obama has SPENT and printed money that has us in this hole. Stats: 26 MILLION are Underemployed, 47 Million in POVERTY-that's 1 in 7, Federal debt HIGHEST since World War Two, Long-term UNEMPLOYMENT HIGHEST since the 1930's, Home Ownership LOWEST since 1965, Goverment DEPENDENCY HIGHEST EVER!! Said Obamacare was NOT a tax and NOW we know it is!! All TRUE- check Factcheck and CBO numbers if you don't believe it. Obama was and IS NOT qualfied to run a country-I doubt if he could even run a business!!!
