Veepstakes: Cheney says Palin VP pick was a "mistake"

Dick Cheney says picking Sarah Palin was the wrong choice four years ago, but he did call her “attractive.”

"That one, I don't think was well handled,” Cheney told ABC of the 2008 veep pick.  "I like Governor Palin,” he said. “I've met her. I know her. She - attractive candidate. But based on her background, she'd only been governor for, what, two years. I don't think she passed that test...of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake." (H/T: Political Wire.)

JINDAL: Bobby Jindal was sounding very veep with some red meat, NBC’s Jamie Novogrod reported. “It was ‘Hope and Change’ four years ago,” Jindal said, referring to Obama’s 2008 campaign.  “Now it’s ‘Divide and Blame.’  Everything is somebody else’s fault.”

PAWLENTY: Tim Pawlenty gets cute again coining another punny phrase. He accused President Obama of being “all foam and no beer,” NBC’s Carrie Dann reported. Remember “ObamneyCare”? And he gave a full endorsement to Chick-Fil-A.

PORTMAN: Rob Portman is feeling the pressure to swing Ohio in Romney’s favor, NBC’s Andrew Rafferty reported.

RYAN: Over the weekend, NBC’s Alex Moe reported, Paul Ryan said he thinks Romney can win Wisconsin.

Ah the irony....one failure criticizing the other as a failure. Keep in mind neither of these 2 idiots (palin, cheney) will be at the convention. Not to mention dubya.

and yes pigotry, I agree. I too wait with bated breath for the third failure to be announced..... to go along with their failure nominee.

Palin a mistake? That has to be the understatement of the year.

Yea, and what about Cheney's pick of VP, Bush? Could he have found anyone more stupid? Buh Duh!

(And if you try and tell me that Bush was The President, and Cheney was VP, then you are delusional. I think we ALL know who was really running the country into the ground.)

Of course she was a mistake. Duh - there is nothing more brilliant than ignorance in action...Dick.

His good buddy Limbaugh doesnt seem to have the same opinion - i'm sure he'll either avoid it or spin it somehow.

Palins Pick was similar to the pick in 2000. Not the Right Person. Who cares what Dick Cheney thinks. He's still trying to beat the drums of war to keep his Halliburton stock up.

jindal, divide and blame? i love the pubs they do what they do and then blame it on the dems. heres what jindal should be doing, start being govenor by taking care of all the citizens of louisiana, not jjust the wealthy.

martin luther king stated it best when he said controll of education is controll of the people. how very true the majority of the people in his state lack education, lack health care, lack good paying jobs, and die early.

that my friends is the legacy of govenor jindal!

governor jindall has ties to radical Hindu's & Muslins in India. They say he was born here but we need to see his birth certificate, all school records and most of all this man can't be trusted.

Good one, Smitty. I keep asking if anyone has seen his long form birth certificate and find it interesting that the GOP is much less interested in Jindals birth certificate than Obamas.

Jindal is, to use TeaPeople rhetoric, an anchor baby!

He was born 6 months after his parents arrived in the US.......and he was not premature!

Smitty and Charemor - you are correct, the birth certificate question will go away if Bobby is the VP pick, (anybody remember when cheney actually thought we should change the constitiuion to allow Arnold to run for Pres?). Bobby was raised Hindu and did not convert until he was an adult, now that would kind of end a lot of speculation regarding how President Obama was raised, wouldn't it? Not sure about anyone else out there but I attended church with my parents, where they took me until I was old enough to drive myself.

Yes, Mr. Cheney would know a mistake, considering he is one himself. Yes, from one mistake to another, and the gop just keeps popping them out like kernels in the jiffy pop bag.

Just in from vacation in Boston and the area, very nice this time of year, great time, one thing for sure - Mittens will have a very difficulty time carring his home state or any that board him. I talked with cab drivers, waiters, waitresses, folks who worked at the Aquarium, the hotels, the markets, the shops, and met some teachers. They think he is quite a hoot, said the he did two good things for the state, 1 was romneycare and they can't figure out how it is so bad now that they all have it, but suddenly it is, and of course he was AWOL for 2 full years running for another office so he did them a big favor there. Even the invenstment bankers in Boston are not happy with him, overheard this at an upscale restaurant between two investment bankers. They seemed to think we would be much worse of if he makes it to the white house, not just the US markets but the global markets as well. Very interesting news to me.

If you ask McCain whether he believes it was a mistake he'll still tell you she was up for the job. If you ask George W. and his buddy Cheney if they made any mistakes handling the wars they involved us in or the economy I'd bet they'd tell you they'd have to think about it but they can't recall any off hand. It seems they have a blind spot when it comes to an honest evaluation of their accomplishments and/or decisions.

Just remember it was Cheney who appointed himself as the failed VP in 2000. So Cheney does know a failed VP when he see's one.

Just wondering if Mr. Cheney knew this back in 2008 when it mattered or did he just now figure it out? Just wondering.

Cheney is a sleazy, evil little liar,,,,,It was evident to most americans that Palin was clueless,,,,,The republican party has become a very nasty joke!!!!!!

I am an independent and most of my friends that are republican are quite sickened by the rights behavior,,,,,,My best advice for the republican leadership,,,find yourselves again and stop kowtowing to the extremists or you are no longer a viable party within the next two election cycles!!!!!!!

I don't know where your head is Dick, McCain was the mistake. This is the same problem today, to many liberals in the party. Mc Cain is just that a no good liberal.

I couldn't agree more with Dick that the choice of Palin was a mistake(Even my ten year old acknowledges that), but his own choice by Bush was a tragedy in many respects; a disaster! For a guy who presided over the tunes of a "macabre dance" with several thousand patriotic dancers!

He needs to ponder his place in history. If every other thing fails, posterity will categorize him.
