Pawlenty's pitch: Obama is 'all foam and no beer'

RALEIGH, NC -- What's a folksy, blue-collar pitch from a Midwestern pol without a good beer analogy?

Appearing at a GOP Victory office opening in swing state North Carolina, Tim Pawlenty on Saturday compared the President Barack Obama's lofty rhetoric of hope and change to the unsatisfying byproduct of a poor-quality keg of an adult beverage.

"We got a problem because we've got a president who's all foam and no beer," declared the former Minnesota governor and top GOP VP pick.

The crowd of about 300 supporters roared.

"I don't know about you but I'm tired of hearing these teleprompter speeches and no results!" he said. "You know his big fancy speeches from four years ago; those speeches, those words don't put gas in our cars do they? And his teleprompter speeches don't pay the mortgage do they?"

Pawlenty, who hours before had talked policy details at a roundtable and given young hockey fans tips on the skating rink, was visibly energized and almost raspy-voiced as he berated the president on behalf of the presumptive GOP nominee, who remains abroad this weekend.

Mitt Romney, a Mormon, does not drink alcohol

"We need to grow this economy and quit kicking our entrepreneurs and small business leaders like President Obama does in the shins every day," he said.

Numerous vice presidential prospects, including Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio and Gov. Bobby Jindalof Louisiana, are stumping for Romney over the coming days. Pawlenty told reporters after his Raleigh appearance that he doesn't see this weekend as an audition for the job.

"I've been out doing this sort of thing since last fall and I get a call once in a while from the campaign saying, 'hey, do you have any free time next week to go be a surrogate?' " he said. "This is consistent with that pattern so it's really no different than what I've been doing for the campaign since last fall."

He declined to speak further about the vetting process, joking that he's been busy around the house.

"I've been taking care of yard work, doing my other work, trying to deal with family matters," he said.

"And trying to get the garage cleaned up. My garage is a mess."

Personally I've been laughing my ass off watching Milquetoast Timmy try to put his tough guy pants on the last few days.

Sorry Timmy but the one indelible image of you from the clown car cavalcade that was the GOP primary's was your rolling out of the "Obamneycare" line and then under the withering and yet insipid gaze of Mittens the Human Windsock not having the stones to say it to his face.

Face it Timmy,if you do get the gig it's only going to be because the Romney people have made the calculation that they can't pick a candidate whom can outshine Mittens so needed to peg a person even more boring and emasculated than him.

Given how small (non-existent...) a field that is I'm liking your chances Timmy.

Here is one relevant fact: The Republican Party has never like either Social Security or Medicare. They didn't invent these programs and they are hellbent on "downsizing" both of them. The irony is many, many Republicans in the so-called "Red States" rely on both of these programs for the primary source of retirement income and medical insurance. President George W. Bush tried to convert Social Security into a privatized program. If he was successful, in November of 2008, most folks on Social Security would have been impoverished by the meltdown of the equities markets. Take a close examination of the proposed Ryan Budget that Mitt Romney endorses and evaluate the effect this budget would have on social security, medicare and taxes for the middle class. You may be shocked and surprised. However, if you have an income of over $300,000 a year and a net worth of $5 million, you may smile from inside your gated mansion.

    Pawlenty,

If you are getting too much foam in your beer glass tilt it to the RIGHT and pour slowly onto the side of the glass. I knew you'd like that!

I was amazed this weekend to find the huge disparity in wealth in this country. I had no idea. You can make the philosophical argument that people get what they deserve. It has certainly been made before. However, the reality is that people will not watch their children go hungry with no education. I believe we are headed for what every nation is headed for when this happens. Revolution. All this talk about the purpose of government, what we spend, what we don't spend, what we spend it on and whether we are right, left or wrong is interesting but has no real bearing on the reality of the human condition. History has proven that. People who say that if you are poor it is your fault are just as myopic as people who say that if you are wealthy you deserve the money. Doesn't matter and neither is true much of the time.

Personally, I'd take all head, no empty calories to what the GOP has to offer...

No head (except for themselves, mostly from underage male prostitutes) and all empty promises.

Pawlenty is such a dweeb! I hope he gets on the ballot with Romney - no way they will win. I will personally go door to door to make sure they don't win.

BTW does anyone remember when the lastest recession near depression was in full swing -news was that we would not crawl out of this thing for upwards of 10 years because this also a global issue and still continues to be. Why is everyone whining about the job market and how bad our economy is? We are lucky we have come this far in this little bit of time! Is there a button somebody else knows about that will turn the global economy around in such a short period of time?

I am sick of all the politics - we need a complete overhaul of everyone in Washington - vote all of them out as very few of them are honest individuals looking out for us. These people that have been voted in are taking you for fools and you are letting them!

Unless the massive voter suppression campaign yileds extraordinary shift in voting elegibility, Romney doesn't have a chance in hell of getting elected President. We've finally reached the stage where the highest bidder gets to buy political office. Sheldon Edelman and the Koch Brothers have already bought and sold several important figures who are now danicng to whatever whistle tune they fancy. The Republican party has been sold outright to corporate interets, and they've thrown in as a bonus the fate of the American Middle Class and working poor.

                @vinyl45s.com

The Pennsylvania GOP flat out admitted in a pre-hearing stipulation agreement last week with the attorneys for the plaintiffs in a challenge to the state's Voter ID law that they could not produce even ONE CASE of in person voter fraud in the state in the last 4 election cycles.

They further admitted that were this bogus law to be thrown out that it was likely to the point of a near certainty that it would not result in any, that's ANY,illegitimate in person ballots being cast,at least from a fraud standpoint.

After these admissions in a legal document and the statement by Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Mike Turzai indicating that the real goal of this suppression of TAXPAYERS most basic RIGHT as a citizen was to deliver the state for Mitt Romney I would urge my neighbors to the North,if this tactic is allowed and works, that come November 7th you follow the words of Nevada's Sharon Angle and exercise "2nd Amendment remedies".

If none of you have been to Pawlenty's office, he has a full cabinet of some pretty hard liquir. In fact he's got a nice bottle of 25 year old Scotch. He also was one of the politicians who wrote off his liquir as "Office Supplies", so Pawlenty can go smoke a weenie dog and shut the @!$%# up about foam and beer.

Foam is nothing more than air, and that is all Pawlenty is full of, air. And cognac, scotch, and bourbon. Who let that drunk into office anyways. Oh that's right, the beer drinking drunken americans who were to stupid to look at which candidate they were voting into office.
