Appearing at a GOP Victory office opening in swing state North Carolina, Tim Pawlenty on Saturday compared the President Barack Obama's lofty rhetoric of hope and change to the unsatisfying byproduct of a poor-quality keg of an adult beverage.
"We got a problem because we've got a president who's all foam and no beer," declared the former Minnesota governor and top GOP VP pick.
The crowd of about 300 supporters roared.
"I don't know about you but I'm tired of hearing these teleprompter speeches and no results!" he said. "You know his big fancy speeches from four years ago; those speeches, those words don't put gas in our cars do they? And his teleprompter speeches don't pay the mortgage do they?"
Pawlenty, who hours before had talked policy details at a roundtable and given young hockey fans tips on the skating rink, was visibly energized and almost raspy-voiced as he berated the president on behalf of the presumptive GOP nominee, who remains abroad this weekend.
Mitt Romney, a Mormon, does not drink alcohol
"We need to grow this economy and quit kicking our entrepreneurs and small business leaders like President Obama does in the shins every day," he said.
Numerous vice presidential prospects, including Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio and Gov. Bobby Jindalof Louisiana, are stumping for Romney over the coming days. Pawlenty told reporters after his Raleigh appearance that he doesn't see this weekend as an audition for the job.
"I've been out doing this sort of thing since last fall and I get a call once in a while from the campaign saying, 'hey, do you have any free time next week to go be a surrogate?' " he said. "This is consistent with that pattern so it's really no different than what I've been doing for the campaign since last fall."
He declined to speak further about the vetting process, joking that he's been busy around the house.
"I've been taking care of yard work, doing my other work, trying to deal with family matters," he said.
"And trying to get the garage cleaned up. My garage is a mess."

Oh, please if the GOP worked even just a little bit at solving our economic problems instead of their empty talks and taking bribes from the rich lobbyists, this country would not be in such a mess. Just how many GOPs are in Washington really working to run this country...or are they just occuping space and taking home salaries? Sorry, both parties were elected to work together to solve our nations problems....not just one.

Since Republicans also claim that Obama has taken away their guns and imposed communism on them and has killed their jobs and rules as a dictator, it seems incongruous that he would also be without substance. If they're going to lie about everything, they should at least try to keep their lies consistent.

Pawlenty is a whiny little hypocrite who as the son of a truck driver, took advantage of every Democratically instilled program he could to get himself through the UofM. He left Minnesota with pawlenty of problems. Remember the 35W bridge in Minneapolis that went down. He was and had been the Governor for several years before it went down. Routine maintenance and inspections cost money. Cutting taxes on the upper income people sometimes results in cutting essential services. He was not good for Minnesota, he would not be good for the USA.

....the bridge failed because the rivet plates were to weak.....in other words, the bridge was poorly engineered. this was on the history channel last week.
only an idiot would say that bridge inspections could have prevented the collapse.

So Keck, You know for a fact that the gusset plates showed no signs of failure prior to the collapse because you watched a TV show? Do you also know about the amount of roadsalt and the effects of such roadsalt on bridges and roadways in the harsh Minnesota climate? Do you know when the bridge was last inspected? We are climbing out of a depression. I am glad people are getting assistance to eat.
No we are in a recession and if Obama is re elected it will be a depression, and many more mouths will be in need of food, more than the 15% of unemployed now, and 23% of black people.
Recession or depression, it all depends on who you are talking to.
It's a recession when you have 1.5% GNP when 5% growth is needed, and I am sure many people feel the pinch of Obama, and many more will soon.

Just wondering: why do people blame the deficit on a liberal spending Obama whey the debt was actually rang up by two unpaid for wars combined with tax cuts that reduced revenue and banks gone wild without regulation, all taking place before January 20, 2009. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has been running radio ads for the past four months encouraging those eligible to enroll. The campaign is targeted at the elderly, working poor, the unemployed and Hispanics.
The department is spending between $2.5 million and $3 million on paid spots, and free public service announcements are also airing. The campaign can be heard in California, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, and the New York metro area.
