CORALVILLE, Iowa -- “The Bob brigade” kicked off a weekend of high profile surrogate events for Mitt Romney in battleground states across the country as the GOP nominee is overseas.
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal spoke to voters in the swing state of Iowa on Thursday, calling President Obama a good, “family man,” while arguing his policies are failing and it’s time for a new president in the White House.
“You’re probably wondering why’s a guy from Virginia out here in Iowa. But Iowa and Virginia have a lot in common,” McDonnell told employees at Per Mar Security in Davenport early this morning. “Both are swing states, you know the president won big in both of our states last time, but the polls are a dead even heat now. So what happens in Virginia, what happens in Iowa could determine who’s going to be the next president of the United States.”
The two prominent GOP governors -- who have been rumored as potential vice presidential picks for Romney -- criticized Obama for his handling of the economy and not creating jobs.
“You know it's bad when the Europeans are giving us advice about too much spending and too much borrowing. That's like the town drunk telling you you've got a drinking problem,” Jindal told the crowd inside the Johnston County GOP Victory office. “You know it's bad when the Europeans are saying ‘Americans, you are spending and borrowing too much. Don't bother lecturing us about our problems.'"
Jindal came to Romney's additional defense in an afternoon conference call, when he was asked about a kerfuffle over Romney's assessment of London's preparation for the Olympics.
"We're not worried about overseas headlines, we're worried about voters here at home in America," Jindal told reporters.
Standing in front of a “191” poster at the first two events today, McDonnell pointed out that is the number of days since President Obama met with his jobs council. In that amount of time, the Virginia governor said, the president has had time to host numerous fundraisers and go golfing.
Both McDonnell and Jindal, whose trip today marks the first time they’ve stumped in Iowa for Romney, made a few phone calls to Republican super voters in the area following their speeches here.
While McDonnell heads back to the Old Dominion State, Jindal will continue heading West -- making two more stops today in the Hawkeye State on behalf of Romney, in Newton and West Des Moines.

Isn't THAT special?
While Willard is overseas eating his words, he dispatches Chucky Cheese & Vaginal Probe Bob to do his dirty work!
Why isn't Willard going to Afghanistan to visit the troops?
Is our active duty members of the military not worthy of his time?
Or, is he afraid his hair might get messed up by live ammo?
Frankly, I'm having trouble picturing Bobby Jindal "storming" any place other than Gilligan's Island.
LOL Too Funny! while I'm away, I'll have idiots number 1 and 2 put in appearances for me! That way I can continue my LET"S PISS OFF THE WORLD TOUR.
A True American
PatriotIdiot!Wow, the corruption in the Obama administration just continues to grow. When will you libbys learn that Obama is a scumbag?
Those wondering why the Department of Justice has refused to go after Jon Corzine for the vaporization of $1.6 billion in MF Global client funds need look no further than the documents uncovered by the Government Accountability Institute that reveal that the now-defunct MF Global was a client of Attorney General Eric Holder and Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer's former law firm, Covington & Burling.
There's more.
Records also reveal that MF Global's trustee for the Chapter 11 bankruptcy retained as its general bankruptcy counsel Morrison & Foerester--the very law firm from which Associate Attorney General Tony West came to DOJ.
And more.
As Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer explains in the Washington Times Thursday, the trustee overseeing MF Global's bankruptcy is former FBI Director Louis Freeh. At Holder's Senate confirmation hearing Freeh served as a character witness for Holder and revealed that Holder had previously worked for Freeh. "As general counsel," Freeh said, "I could have engaged any lawyer in America to represent our bank. I chose Eric."
Until now, the conventional wisdom for why Holder wouldn't throw the book at Corzine was that Corzine is an Obama campaignbundler. Indeed, as Breitbart News reported, four of the top officials at the Department of Justice--Eric Holder, Thomas Perrelli, Karol Mason, and Tony West--were also big money bundlers for Obama.
But the newly understood crony connections reveal conflicts of interest that extend well beyond mere political support for a common candidate--they go to a tangle of prior business dealings that further underscore the need for a special prosecutor in the Corzine case.
At least 65 members of Congress have already signed a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder requesting that he appoint a special prosecutor to investigate MF Global's collapse and the loss of $1.6 billion in customer money. What's more, even progressives have begun to wonder whether Holder's Covington & Burling connection explains why the Department of Justice has not charged, prosecuted, or jailed a single Wall Street executive after the biggest financial collapse in American history.
As Richard Eskow of the Huffington Post recently wrote:
This isn't going away.
Both the left and the right are onto Holder's Wall Street head fake. With the revelation of the new crony connections, the time for Eric Holder to appoint a special prosecutor in the Corzine/MF Global case is now.
OUCH! lol
Later, London Mayor Boris Johnson, also a Tory, called out Romney in a speech at an Olympics event before to tens of thousands of people in London’s Hyde Park:
Anna Molly
Frankly, I'm having trouble picturing Bobby Jindal "storming" any place other than Gilligan's Island.
Wow. Anna Molly, I was thinking more like Dr Suess' Cat in the Hat; but your analogy is even funnier.
Redsox, did they ever find the billions that disappeard in Iraq when Bush was in charge? I didn't think so. Maybe if t hey look in the bank accounts of Blackwater, Halliburton, Dick Cheney and maybe even Romney's Swiss account some of that moola will appear. Not gonna happen, nope, wouldn't be prudent.
Yes, Mitt, the Brits are ready. Was SLC? Without US govt. funds would SLC been ready?
[This isn't going away.]
Uhm, newsflash for you, hotshot...that bus left the station months ago. Corzine is an idiot, plain and simple, and is gone.
Now back to Newsmax or Drudge or (not so)Breitbart or FoxNation to dredge up more useless crap from the gutter.
Mittens has to have surrogates speak for him so that he doesn't have to answer questions. (Pesky things!)
Release the tax forms and tell us what your plans are instead of alluding to some miraculous cure to be reveled only after you're elected.
Ummmm gee, I thought your lying sack of crap president ended the war in Afghanistan. Wow, another lie, like he withdrew our troops from Iraq. I believe some of them died the other day. Another lie. Maybe Obama should go back to Afghanistan and Iraq and find out why we still have troops there. Yeah, I know, it's all Bush's fault.
Well, If it isn't bushes fault then you must think Bush's "legacy" is no longer pertinent.
If that were true we'd have his endorsement by now!
“You know it's bad when the Europeans are giving us advice about too much spending and too much borrowing. That's like the town drunk telling you you've got a drinking problem,” Jindal told the crowd'
Or as Mitt Romney put it in his interview with Brian Williams last night.....the whole global economy collapsed because "nations abroad and nations in the United States borrowed far too much money".
Damn those other nations in the United States - it's all their fault! :)
The problem for Greece begin in a culture of tax evason. Greeks routinely cheated their government at tax time, and in the end, revenues fell short of the cost of government services.
But Romney should know something about that. He was a governor AND a tax cheat.
Amy, please dont post absolute falsehoods..
You must have meant to say Tim Geithner, Obama's Treasury Secretary, is a tax cheat.
JoAnne in PA
“You know it's bad when the Europeans are giving us advice about too much spending and too much borrowing. That's like the town drunk telling you you've got a drinking problem,” Jindal told the crowd'
Or like John Boehnoer, the Republican Speaker of the House, weeping in his merlot.
Your comment about John 'weeping in his merlot' is a total and absolute falsehood.
The "Speaker" only drinks beer and does so when he is either alone or in the company of fellow fools.
Try to stay with the facts?
Wow, you people must be worried that Romney won't last till November if the polls turn against him. Every, and I mean EVERY, non Rasmussen poll showing Obama with a lead is immediately attacked as being flawed. You guys really need to get hobbies or real jobs. Follow the baseball season - the Nats are in 1st Place. I'll give you guys credit that with all the free money floating around from the Super PACS you have money to burn to pay a crap load of people to come up with this research. You'd think we'd have full employment. Still with that said, I find you little different than my GOP buddies back in school who never grew out of the middle school fart joke stage. No philosophy, no core, just pranksters.
Chuck Todd admitted the pol was flawed.
Chuck Todd was quite brave to admit the poll was flawed...no doubt Axelrod told him his cushy public sector job after the election was at risk..he is not subservient enough to be Press Secretary, he dares to tell the truth on occasion, at least...
KingK
But if they knew their poll was skewed, why did they release it? Why didn't they fix their skew? Why are they protecting Obama by making him look better than he really is?
So why does a right wing website skew polls and release them daily? One in particular is that push poll
Rasmuseenmake Fox-mussen.Mr. Obama's chief spokesperson, David Axlerod, looked like a complete fool in the Morning Joe interview today. The interview, in part, focused on the national security leaks coming out of the WH. He couldn't answer one question with a direct response, but tried to deflect every question. He couldn't even confirm that the WH is conducting an internal investigation to determine the source of the leaks. Which means, in all probability, that no internal investigation is actually taking place. I guess Mr Obama doesn't want to take charge and get to the bottom of the issue, but would rather have it languish for months and months, unresolved, in the hands of Eric Holder.
These are the same people who have focused their campaign efforts on attacking Romney to try and get him to disclose more than two years of tax returns. While they themselves choose to ignore breeches of our national security that endanger ongoing operations and make it much more difficult to carry out future operations.
Mr. Obama needs to get his priorities straightened out. He also needs to fire D. Axlerod a V Jarret if he wants to have any chance of restoring confidence in the security of the WH.
Axelrod hangs out at MSNBC anyway, handing out scripts to his poodles Rachel and Laurence and Al, and directing the daily attack points.....might as well put him on the air!
Re; Obama sending his Washington?WH people over to Chicago to check up on the campaign staff.
Which is exactly the problem with having Mr. Obama at the helm of the nation, he lacks the experience and the leadership to get the job done. If you want 4 more years of what we have now, or worse, vote for Obama. If you want experience and someone with proven leadership capabilities, vote Romney
Republican super voters...the guys that fix the Diebold machines?
When the libs start the paranoia about Diebold, ya know they are steeling themselves for another loss...
Here are the specifics on the Obama economic plan to go along with his big government as the center of the universe agenda.
Straight from Mr. Obama's fourth proposed budget. Here is the debt he is proposing to foist on US, our kids and grandchildren:
Table S–15. Federal Government Financing and Debt—Continued(Dollars amounts in billions)Actual 2011 Estimate 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020021 2022
Debt Outstanding, End of Year: Gross Federal debt:Debt issued by Treasury .................................................... 14,737 16,323 17,520 18,471 19,398 20,363 21,298 22,218 23,125 24,051 24,984 25,918
Debt issued by other agencies ........................................... 27 28 28 29 29 28 28 27 27 26 24 22 Total,
gross Federal debt .............................................. 14,764 16,351 17,548 18,500 19,427 20,392 21,326 22,245 23,152 24,077 25,008 25,940
Almost $26 Trillion in debt at 75% of GDP proposed /projected by Mr. Obama. UNSUSTAINABLE! And we all know that in actual practice it will turn out to be a lot higher if Obama is returned to office. And on July 16, on Morning Joe, Mr. Obama's spokesperson, Rep. Jim Clyburn(D), admitted that the Obama plan necessarily will require middle class tax hikes in the years going forward after the election, in order to pay for the deficit spending and debt laden Obama plan. Which is why Mr. Obama is only proposing a ONE YEAR extension of the current middle class tax rates.
And please, when you see Mr. Obama on the campaign trail, ask him how much yearly revenue he perceives his proposed tax hike on those making over $200,000.00/$250,000.00 per couple (projected to raise $60 to 70 billion)will raise, and how that will even come close to his proposed $1.3 Trillion per year in deficit spending and debt building.
Too bad Mr. Obama can't discuss his budget plan with the American people. He knows it will be rejected, so he is busy playing with smoke and mirrors and giving meaningless rhetorical speeches in the hopes of duping voters once again..
Good or bad at least Obama HAS a plan.
Is that the plan to destroy Small Business? Or to destroy the Constitution? To destroy free enterprise system? Personal Repsonsability? Is Plan is not improving the lives of anyone. His jobs plan is to help states for a year then the states have to come up with the money to keep them employeed or fire them. But I guess if he can get people hired until just after the election he can get reelected. A bad plan is worse then no plan. Which is why we will not see unemployment under 8% (Dispite his promise if he got the stimulus package) while he is president and the senate is controled by the Democrats. The only president worse then him so far was FDR.
Obama (if that is his name) has always had a PLAN. It is to destroy America from within. He has done a terrific job of that. He has shredded the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and other civil protections Americans have always enjoyed.
Of course the entire Congress is complicit in his plan.
They should be arrested, frog marched to PRISON, as they are such mamby pamby putzes. They have sworn to uphold the Constitution for example and 99 percent do not know the first thing about it. In fact they cannot even recite the preamble.
Terrific bunch of gold bricks running the Nation.
Term Limits is the answer. And IQ tests would weed out Hank Johnson who thinks Guam will 'tip over' due to additional troops and equipment being sent there.
Or the 'mouth' Maxine Waters who can hardly keep her big mouth shut as she shows contempt for this Nation. Or Sheila Jackson Lee who has honed a terrific set of 'non answers ' to any set of questions.
Watch her comments and hear the constant repeating of ‘answers’ . She is a fraud just as is Obama (if that is his name).
Here are some of the other polls
7/15-17/12
FOX News Poll: Obama 45% Romney 41%
McClathchy-Marist: Obama 48% Romney 46%
Reuters-Ipso: Obama 49% Romney 43%
Pew: Obama 50% Romney 43%
http://pollingreport.com/wh12gen.htm
If the incumbent is well under 50%, he is in trouble.
Undecideds will break for the challenger.
It is like asking if you will have the same spouse next year. if you choose 'undecided" , the odds dont look good.
The only poll that matters is in November. Until then it is nothing more that guesswork.
Obama poodle Brian Williams' now-infamous snark that Romney was selecting an "extremely boring white man" as VP, is self evidently false.
Jindal, McDonnell, Rubio, Portman-- none are as boring as the lame propaganda flowing from First Read, MSNBC and the witless lefties posting here...
They havent had an original thought in months, excpet calling Romney "Willard" and being jealous he is rich.
Bob -
"Brian Williams' now-infamous snark"? Williams was merely quoting a story in Politico that was quoting an unnamed Romney advisor who apparently said that first. In fact, if you actually watched the interview, Romney was pretty quick to reply something to the effect of "But you already turned me down, Brian!" Now THAT was snarky.....not to mention almost too quick a reply. Makes me wonder if someone on Romney's staff had read the same article and anticipating the question, gave Romney the response ahead of time.
Especially since it was pretty much the only question in the entire interview that he didn't dodge completely.....
What say you King K? Looks like Amy whupped your butt mate.
KingK good posts.
Be careful, you will have the Queen of the Libs (Beisty) and her dogs after you soon. However, I would not worry since all they do is bark.
Do this people work for a living? How can they post 24 hour a day with nothing more than commercials on how good Obama is and how bad anybody else is.
Bob, good to hear from you again.
The Race looks pretty close to me, especially when the libs were thinking God Obama would part the sea,s and win by a land slide.
Better a God than a Devil
Bob McDonnell is still on the short list for VP!
Go, Bob, go!
I'd suggest that Gov. Jindal is off the list after referring to all of Europe as a "town drunk."
In my wildest, nightmarish dreams, I cannot visualize the majority of Americans losing their collective sanity and putting into office a political party that arrogantly stated their objective from Obama's Innaugaration Day was to make him a ONE TERM POTUS ! And they have refused to cooperate with his objective to make the USA a representative of ALL its people instead of a right-wing WASP entity ruled by Wall St and the top 5% of our population. Maybe we need another American Revolution to weed out the residual TORIES who never did support our democratic principles. This S Texas Independent is voting for POTUS Obama !!!
Look at his values back in 08. He should have never been elected president in the first place. I can't believe that almost half the people want him to continue this desaster. But I guess The Democrats want more unemployed workers, to add to the unemployment rolls. This has been the most undemocratic president we have had in a half century. He has violated the oath of office and the constitution so many times.
300Michael - when has President Obama violated the Constitution and his Oath of Office "so many times"? Please provide some facts to validate that statement.
I get that you don't like him, don't like what he has done, and want a different President, but to throw out an unsupported accusation like that is bogus.
Bobby Jindal is the Governor of Louisiana, a state best known for its high crime rate (its per capita homicide rate has ranked 1st every single year from 1989 to 2010, which is 22 consecutive years), high poverty level (7th highest overall poverty rate in 2010 and the 6th highest rate of child poverty) and income inequality (4th worst in the nation, 2010). So I assume that Bobby is in Iowa to bolster Mitt's appeals for minimizing gun control as well as the advocating for trickle down economics.
Wouldn't it be much easier to list what he hasn't waffled on? ... like not reporting his taxable income or how much he's got stashed in tax havens, or how many Americans he's left unemployed or broke while ripping up the companies and shipping the companies they used to work for overseas while he keeps getting richer and paying less taxes that the bozos who are planning on voting for him.
After all ... corporations are people my "friends"
About Europe....I saw in todays paper that Britian is learning that the "conservative" approach to their problems is not working out so well. They had cut back on government spending...and it did NOT help their economy. Surprise! Surprise!
That is not to say that the government should not be picky who they dole out OUR tax money to. BUT...FACT: When we had the depression of 1930, our government had NO deficit. So ...What caused THAT depression? What we DID have back then as we do today is an IMBALANCE of wealth in the country. The people at the top sucked it all up. There was IMBALANCE between supply and demand. When people can no longer AFFORD to BUY products, businesses do not sell what they make. This results in MORE layoffs.
A lot of people in this country...are POOR. They work, but they are STILL poor. Who could afford health insurance or health bills making 30,000.00 or less a year? If ANYONE thinks they can, then they are living in lala land. They can barely pay the REST of their bills. That leaves no money for houses or cars or insurance or dining out. That means no DEMAND for goods....even the cheap stuff shipped in here from China. Actually, our supply and demand is so OUT of balance (since trickle down economics was put into place by Ronald Reagan...SUPPLY SIDE economics), that the government has been making up the difference for a long time.
Republicons drive up deficits by MASSIVE spending on the military and new wars when they are in office. It makes the top people very rich with very little going to the soldiers. Then they cut taxes to help the SAME people out. That equals massive debt (we became a debtor nation for the FIRST time under Reagan). Democrats also spend and they have their share of wasteful spending too, but it usually benefits MORE people. When you put extra money in peoples pockets, they have a little extra to spend at local businesses. But Government....has REALLY been holding up the demand side of the equation and can no longer do it. Half the people can no longer purchase goods with low wages. That hurts EVERY business.
We are TOP heavy. That caused the LAST depression and it is causing THIS one. Cutting the deficit (which republicons will try to take MORE than they already have and give to the top) on the backs of the middle class....is the WORST thing one can do now. Any benefits they cut will be sucked up through tax CUTS for the wealthy. This is the CAUSE of this depression...not a solution.
Yawn. Who cares. Show us your taxes Willard!
Looks like the dumb and dumber tour
"You can always count on Americans to do the right thing-after they've tried everything else" Sir Winston Churchill. Never this quote have been so accurate in reference to a visit of a "wannabe president" of the United States to United Kingdom.
This response by the pencil necked Brits is laughable and how does a similar observation about security inadequacies made the very same British press corp rise to a foreign policy issue. When Obama referred to the Polish death camps I believe all of his apologists rallied around him and now they even have the audacity to employ a Clintonian tactic to his meaning to the word "that" in his blunder "you didn't build that". I guess you all wouldn't mind if Romney bowed to the Saudi Prince as did your messianic leader. How about OB refusing to declare that the Turks committed genocide on the Armenians or outing seal team six that got the killed in Afganistan.
