Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for the presidential election, arrives in Downing Street to meet with British Prime Minister David Cameron on July 26, 2012 in London, England.
*** London Calling: On his first full day of business and meetings on his overseas trip, Mitt Romney has already met with former British PM Tony Blair, current Labour Party leader Ed Miliband, British Foreign Secretary William Hague, and Deputy PM Nick Clegg. At publication time, he will visit with British PM David Cameron, and then he holds a fundraiser at 1:05 pm ET. “I’ve begun a number of conversations with leaders present and past and recognize of course the unique relationship which exists between our nations, our commitment to common values, our commitment to peace in the world and our desire to see a stronger and growing economy,” Romney said during his meeting with Miliband, per the pool report. “Obviously, the world is a tumultuous and dangerous place and certainly in many regions in the world and we have great interests – a common effort to see greater peace and prosperity. I also appreciate the work of the military of this great nation and our joint effort in Afghanistan. The people of Great Britain have sacrificed enormously in helping bring peace to that nation.”
*** LIBOR pains: The Democratic-leaning group Americans United for Change is up with a web video noting that in attendance at Romney’s fundraiser in Britain will be bankers with ties to the LIBOR interest-rate scandal. As the New York Times has written, “Several of the events’ hosts are top executives at banks tied to the interest rate-fixing scandal that is now engulfing London’s financial and political world, linking Mr. Romney, however superficially, to a messy moment in the continuing debate over Wall Street excesses.” More: “The former chief executive and a top lobbyist for Barclays, the bank at the center of the scandal, helped organize a Romney fund-raiser. The former chief executive, Robert E. Diamond Jr., has since withdrawn his name as the event’s co-host.”
The Daily Rundown's Chuck Todd previews Mitt Romney's meeting with Deputy British Prime Minister Nick Clegg.
*** Romney’s press-corps faux pas: During his meeting with Miliband, according to the pool report, Romney answered questions from British reporters but did not take any questions from the American reporters, which isn’t protocol. In fact, it’s considered a bit of an insult to the U.S reporters who are following the presumptive GOP presidential nominee overseas. Even bringing this up will lead some to say, “There goes the media, whining again.” But folks, those of us that have traveled overseas and been involved in these VERY limited press avails have rarely seen heads of democracies TOTALLY ignore their own press corps but answer ANOTHER press corps’ questions. Sure, it would have looked REALLY bad had Romney ignored the U.K. questions. But is the campaign so intent on limiting media access that the candidate won’t call an audible when standing next to a leader from another country who DOES want to take questions? This is a bipartisan challenge for the press corps. Every president in the modern era has decided to pick up on some aspect of limiting media access to the president from their predecessor. The public never cares, because most of them distrust at least half of the press corps. But folks, it’s a slippery slope. Where did Obama get the idea of calling on an ordered list of questioners at press conferences? From George W. Bush. OK, our rant is over.
*** A contrast on guns: In a span of just hours, President Obama and Mitt Romney offered a contrast on guns in the wake of last week’s shooting in Colorado. Speaking before the National Urban League last night in New Orleans, per NBC’s Ali Weinberg, Obama said that Americans shouldn’t have access to assault weapon, especially those who are mentally ill or who have criminal records. “We recognize the tradition of gun ownership being passed on from generation to generation -- that hunting and shooting are part of the cherished national heritage,” he said. “But I think a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of shooters, not in the hands of criminal; that they belong on the battlefield of war not on the streets of our cities. I believe the majority of gun owners agree we should do everything possible to prevent criminals and fugitives from purchasing weapons.” Obama also said that “we should check out a persons' criminal record before they can check out at a gun store, that a mentally unbalanced individual should not be able to get his hands on a gun so easily.” This was the most Obama has said on guns in his 3 ½ years in the White House, but it didn’t contain any specifics on how to achieve these things.
*** Romney: Changing a law won’t make bad things go away: Meanwhile, in his interview with NBC’s Brian Williams in London, Romney flatly stated, “I don't happen to believe that America needs new gun laws,” adding: “A lot of what this young man did was clearly against the law. But the fact that it was against the law did not prevent it from happening. (However, as NBC’s Garrett Haake pointed out yesterday, the guns the Colorado shooter purchased were LEGAL.) Romney went on to say, “We can sometimes hope that just changing a law will make all bad things go away. It won't. Changing the heart of the American people may well be what's essential to improve the lots of the American people.”
*** On his tax returns: Also in his interview with NBC’s Brian Williams, Romney -- once again -- said he wasn’t releasing his tax returns prior to 2010. “I'm following the same precedent that was put in place by John McCain. Two years, and by the way, hundreds of pages of returns for the Democrat operatives to go through and twist and distort and to turn in different directions and try and make a big deal out of.” Romney continued, “[W]hat we've noted is our Democrat friends, take what's there, twist it, distort it, dishonestly use it in attack ads. I just don't wanna give 'em more material than is required.” By the way, this reasoning subtlety implies there is something in there he’s embarrassed about in some form. Never have understood using the excuse of someone else will find something in it to make a negative out of it.
*** On whether his economic plan is similar to George W. Bush’s: Then when Williams asked Romney if his economic policies -- including lowering taxes and reducing regulation -- were different than George W. Bush’s, he replied, “[M]y policies are very different than anything you've seen in the past,” he said, citing 1) expanding domestic energy production, 2) promoting free trade, 3) balancing the budget, 4) creating educational opportunities for workers, and 5) lowering taxes and lessening regulations. But just an FYI: almost all of those prescriptions (energy production, free trade, education, taxes, and regulation) were pursued by the Bush administration.
*** On his faith and his heritage: Williams asked Romney why he doesn’t talk more about his faith and heritage. Romney’s answer: “I speak actually quite regularly about the fact that my dad was born in Mexico, that with revolution in Mexico, my dad, then I think aged five or six, came back to the U.S. with his family. That they went broke multiple times. His dad was a contractor. My dad didn't complete college, but went on to be head of a car company and then a governor. I think it's a remarkable story. And I'm very proud of my heritage. I'm without question, I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm proud of that. Some call that the Mormon Church, that's fine with me. I'll talk about my experiences in the church. There's no question they've helped shape my perspective.”
*** And on “Anglo-Saxon” and Rafalca: In addition, Romney said he disagreed with the unnamed Romney “adviser” quoted in the London Daily Telegraph who suggested Obama didn’t understand the United States’ Anglo-Saxon relationship with Great Britain: “I can tell you that we have a very special relationship between the United States and Great Britain. It goes back to our very beginnings -- cultural and historical. But I also believe the president understands that.” And he said he was unable to explain the sport of dressage -- in which the Romneys’ horse is competing in the Olympics -- or even when the Romney horse is competing: “I have to tell you. This is Ann's sport. I'm not even sure which day the sport goes on. She will get the chance to see it. I will not be watching the event. I hope her horse does well. But just the honor of being here and representing our country and seeing the other Olympians is something which I'm sure the people that are associated with this are looking forward to.” (Really? Romney, who’s attending the Olympics, doesn’t know when his wife’s horse is competing or even the rules of the sport? OK….)
*** Our merged NBC/WSJ/Telemundo oversample: With now three months of merged data from our NBC/WSJ/Telemundo Latino oversample, we have a treasure trove of numbers to understand the Latino electorate. According to this merged data, Obama leads Romney here by 40 points, 65%-25%. But there’s an interesting split here. Romney does a bit better among English-speaking Latinos (trailing Obama 64%-26%) than Spanish-speaking Latinos (69%-20%). And he does a bit better among Latinos born in the U.S. (trailing 57%-29%) versus those born outside the U.S. (73%-19%).
*** This week’s 10 hottest markets: Below is our latest weekly look at the 10 hottest advertising markets in the presidential race (per advertising points for the week of 7/23 to 7/29). Reminder: Colorado is missing because of the decisions by both campaigns to pull their ads down post-Aurora. A few other observations: 1) In most of these markets, Obama and Romney are running fairly even, but GOP outside groups are giving Team Romney the edge in advertising points; 2) the states here are Ohio (3 markets), Virginia (2), Florida (2), North Carolina (2), and Nevada (1); and 3) Roanoke-Lynchburg, VA is this week’s No. 1 market.

Last night Brian Williams asked Mitt Romney if his decision to not release any additional tax returns was final that he would not walk-back that statement. Mitt talked about how he didn't want to provide Democrats any more ammo to use against him. He also made a couple other excuses BUT he never answered the question.
This issue will not go away – what is he hiding? What does he do when the small number of undecided voters, especially in swing states, demand he release them?
Mitt Romney – The Great Decider
He won't specify which tax loopholes he'd close
He won't say which federal agencies he'd eliminate
He won't say whether he'd support the Paycheck Fairness Act
He won't say whether he supports the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
He won't say whether he'd support full reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act
Mitt Romney – The transparent candidate
He won't say why he made dozens of trips to Bain between 1999 and 2002
He won't release past tax returns as his father did
He won't tell us why he approved a $75 million investment in an abortion affiliated business
He won't release the names of his bundlers
He took all the hard drives with him when left the Governorship
He "lost" all his records from the 2002 Winter Olympics
President Barack Obama said the following in Roanoke, Virginia on July 13th:
"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn't get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don't do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.
So we say to ourselves, ever since the founding of this country, you know what, there are some things we do better together. That's how we funded the GI Bill. That's how we created the middle class. That's how we built the Golden Gate Bridge or the Hoover Dam. That's how we invented the Internet. That's how we sent a man to the moon. We rise or fall together as one nation and as one people, and that's the reason I'm running for President -- because I still believe in that idea. You're not on your own, we're in this together." (Applause)
The crowd understood about working with others for the common good, and the history of government support.
That Romney required a great deal of human assistance & co-operation in Utah to prepare for the 2002 Winter Olympics, is understood. And a large audience was part of that picture.
Romney bragged, "I was successful in organizing the Olympics, got record funds from the federal government," and made it a selling point when he ran for Governor.
So how come Mitt Romney created the giant lie about the uncontraversial comments by President Obama quoted above?
Mr. Romney, did you birth yourself, change your diaper, learn your native tongue, learn to drive a car, buy groceries, graduate from University ~ START A BUSINESS AS CEO & SOLE SHAREHOLDER ~ on an island all by yourself?
Romney made the President appear to denigrate small businesses, by editing his words all out of context. Now that he's in England, Romney is earning the new title of international liar.
Looks like ole Barry is in the running to be the most anti-business President in modern history. Add to that the recent terrorist threat from Dem Senator Patty Murray to push the US off the fiscal cliff into recession in 2013, and then ask yourself why businesses are not investing new money to expand their businesses and creating new jobs.
They are scared as Hell of the Dem morons in charge of 2/3’s of the federal govt and are sitting on their cash in case there is an economic collapse brought on by Dem anti-business policies and philosophy.
Nobama 2012 Really, Things Could Be Worse-
Give Me Four More Years and I’ll Prove It
From Politico:
Poll: Biz owners down on Obama
By: Tim Mak
July 26, 2012 06:17 AM EDT
Business owners resoundingly oppose President Barack Obama’s policies, with nearly 60 percent disapproving of his job performance, according to a Gallup Poll released Thursday.
Fifty-nine percent of business owners said they disapprove of Obama’s job performance, compared with 35 percent who said they approve.
Their approval of the president has fallen from 41 percent in the first quarter to 35 percent in the second quarter of 2012, a drop of 6 points.
This puts business owners with the second-lowest approval in terms of occupational groups measured by Gallup.
The group with the lowest approval was farming, fishing or forestry workers, who disapproved of the president, 57 percent to 34 percent.
“[F]urther deterioration in his approval rating among business owners could certainly add to the perception that Obama is not doing enough to bolster small businesses in the country,” the poll said. “They are of course a critical component of the economy and overall economic optimism in the country. If business owners become more positive about Obama and his plans for the economy, that could potentially boost his approval ratings and broader U.S. economic confidence closer to the levels necessary for him to be well positioned for reelection.”
The Secret Man:
As the campaign unfolds, the issue that is most troublesome is how little we know about Mitt Romney. By withholding his tax returns we have little knowledge of his business acquaintances, his business investments, how he earned his money, how much tax he paid, and the purpose of his Cayman Islands and Bermuda tax shelters. All we do know is that the tax returns hold politically damaging information.
We don't know the names of Romney's political bundlers or the sources of these many million dollar contributions. We don't know who Romney is "beholden" to.
We don't know how Romney spent his time at Bain Capital. Much of his work was behind closed doors in private meetings. Bain computers became the employee's personal possession and the memory chips of the remaining computers were wiped clean.
Upon leaving his post as Governor of Massachusetts, Romney was criticized for failing to preserve internal records. Again, computers were void of internal emails, executive calendar appointments, financial information, and operational details.
Then we have the 2002 Olympics when Romney was chairman of the Olympic committee. Romney promised complete transparency of all documents including emails, appointment calendars, and other correspondence. But archivists say that most of the key records were destroyed under the supervision of a staffer as the flame was extinguished in Cauldron Park.
The remaining documents were sent to the University of Utah Marriott Library, and Gregory Thompson, curator, reported that the records were "scrubbed" before they reached the University of Utah. So the remaining 1,100 boxes of records will likely have little information regarding Romney's involvement in the Olympic Games.
It is possible that American voters could elect a person whom they know practically nothing about. If this were a movie, people would say the plot line is unfeasible, but here we are: A rich guy with many secrets and a tool of the conservative Tea Party. It's one thing to vote against Barack Obama, but it is
a risky matter to vote for someone you don't even know.
The much anticipated Brian William's interview with Willard, did not fail to disappoint!
Brian lobbed some fair & decent questions at Willard and Willard dodged them as usual!
This is Willard's 4 point campaign plan from now until election day;
Duck - Dodge - Divert - Deceive...
Debate season is going to be here before you know it. Very interesting to see that the third debate at Lynn University in Boca Raton (right down the road from me) will be the foreign policy debate. Gonna be interesting to see the media descend upon such a small University. (Any chance our First Read friends will be here? Looking at you Domenico and Mark!)
I know there is likely to be a bit of negativity here today, so how about some positive:
-Christian Bale visiting Aurora, CO...classy move
-Woman's olympic soccer team coming back from a 2-0 deficit to beat France...nice start ladies!
-Cal Ripken Jr.'s mom being found safe after being kidnapped. Seriously...who kidnaps Cal Ripken Jr.'s mom. The wrath of Baltimore will likely come down on whoever did it!!
Happy Thursday all!!
(By the way...I will make an unsolicited plug here. I follow Mark and Domenico on Twitter and they update their Twitter feeds quite often. Lots of good stuff)
How they are building the lie together (but really on their own):
The Rove/Adelson/Foreign Corporations Romney campaign have organized two dozen "We Did Build This" events in battleground states. Business owners are instructed to say they did it all themselves, and the pesky government was purely in their way.
But a closer look by Aviva Shen at these businesses, revealed that over half of these owners received government support:
1. "Ball Office Products hosted the "We Did Build This" event in Richmond, Virginia.
The company received a loan of $635,000 through the Small Business Administration in 2012, according to USASpending.gov. The company was also awarded a lucrative $52,525 contract with the General Services Administration just a year after its founding.
2. Midwest Tapes, a media distributor of Holland, Ohio, was showcased at a local event and
received stimulus funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Midwest Tapes has been contracted by the Department of Defense since 2008, earning a cumulative $13,659.
3. Columbus Truck and Equipment was featured in a neighboring event and has received $6,643 in contracts with the Department of Defense.
4. Cranston Material Handling Equipment Corporation, the owner of which spoke Wednesday morning at a campaign event in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has reaped a total of $61,729 in contracts with the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs since 2007.
5. Systems Engineering Co.The owner of Systems Engineering has received a total of $180,200 in DOD contracts, as recently as last year.
6. Brady Industries in Las Vegas has received $54,425 in contracts with Veterans Affairs since 2009.
7. Pennsylvania business PRL Industries Inc. received a $167,847 contract through the Department of Homeland Security for ship and boat propulsion components for the U.S. Coast Guard in August 2008. Janis Herschkowitz, who spoke on behalf of PRL, Inc. used to be a director of the National Consumer Cooperative Bank, which, defined in Herschkowitz' own words, was created by Congress "to meet personal, social or business needs, especially in low- and moderate-income communities by forming cooperatives."
8. An Iowa event featured Competitive Edge, Inc. which was contracted by Veterans Affairs for $3,543 to make informational refrigerator magnets.
9. J & W Cycles of Missouri was awarded $25,808 in contracts from the DOD and Department of Interior.
10. Total Resource, featured in a Sparks, Nevada campaign event, has been a federal contractor since 2010, and received a $11,200 contract from the DOD in 2009.
11. Applegate Insulation, which hosted one of the events in Michigan, benefited from an energy saving federal tax credit worth 30 percent of the installation project, up to $1,500.
12. Home Instead Senior Care supported Romney in Roanoke, Virginia, even though home health care companies receive 75 percent of their funding from public programs like Medicare and Medicaid. Home Instead franchises in Virginia have received at least $3,613,549 in federal funding through the Department of Veterans Affairs since 2008. Chris Head, who represented Home Instead at the event, has previously lamented the low Medicaid reimbursement rates in Virginia and told the Roanoke Times that he wished state funding had helped save the now-defunct local Mill Mountain Theatre.
13. Ed Nagle of Nagle Trucking in Ohio also took issue with Obama's speech, which mentioned roads and bridges as examples of essential government support. But less than a year ago, Nagle protested an idea to privatize the Ohio Turnpike, noting that the privatized Indiana toll road "has diminished in its quality and it's become a lot more expensive."
I guess they got plenty of support from Government, while they were 'doing it on their own.'
Btw, President Obama has cut taxes for small businesses 18 times.
And is currently working to extend tax cuts for 97% of small businesses (and 98% of Americans).
Dennis -- Wait until the "presumptive" nominee is the nominee who has his running mate, then you will see specifics. The platform will come forth and then the questions will be answered in the debates. Should be fun.
As to the tax returns, shame on you for not using the entire Gov. Romney quote stating his opponents "distorting" the tax returns. The fact of the matter is no one either right or left will force him to do something not required by law. You have already made your decision so live with it.
I love watching the second poster trying to explain what the greatest orator of our time said. You are in his corner but you are not in the ring and your man is getting punch drunk.
I believe Gov. Romney held his ground well with Brian Williams. He looked presidential. He answered the questions even though some of the questions were inane. Good job future POTUS!!!!!
Barack Hussein Obama promised "transformational Change"
And boy has he delivered....
List compiled by Michael Snyder....
The following are 40 facts about poverty in America that will blow your mind….
#1 In the United States today, somewhere around 100 million Americans are considered to be either "poor" or "near poor".
#2 It is being projected that when the final numbers come out later this year that the U.S. poverty rate will be the highest that it has been in almost 50 years.
#3 Approximately 57 percent of all children in the United States are living in homes that are either considered to be either "low income" or impoverished.
#4 Today, one out of every four workers in the United States brings home wages that are at or below the poverty level.
#5 According to the Wall Street Journal, 49.1 percent of all Americans live in a home where at least one person receives financial benefits from the government. Back in 1983, that number was below 30 percent.
#6 It is projected that about half of all American adults will spend at least some time living below the poverty line before they turn 65.
#7 Today, there are approximately 20.2 million Americans that spend more than half of their incomes on housing. That represents a 46 percent increase from 2001.
#8 During 2010, 2.6 million more Americans fell into poverty. That was the largest increase that we have seen since the U.S. government began keeping statistics on this back in 1959.
#9 According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the percentage of "very poor" rose in 300 out of the 360 largest metropolitan areas during 2010.
#10 Since Barack Obama became president, the number of Americans living in poverty has risen by 6 million and the number of Americans on food stamps has risen by 14 million.
#11 Right now, one out of every seven Americans is on food stamps and one out of every four American children is on food stamps.
#12 It is projected that half of all American children will be on food stamps at least once before they turn 18 years of age.
#13 The poverty rate for children living in the United States is 22 percent, although when the new numbers are released in the fall that number is expected to go even higher.
#14 One university study estimates that child poverty costs the U.S. economy 500 billion dollars a year.
#15 Households that are led by a single mother have a 31.6% poverty rate.
#16 In 2010, 42 percent of all single mothers in the United States were on food stamps.
#17 According to the National Center for Children in Poverty, 36.4 percent of all children that live in Philadelphia are living in poverty, 40.1 percent of all children that live in Atlanta are living in poverty, 52.6 percent of all children that live in Cleveland are living in poverty and 53.6 percent of all children that live in Detroit are living in poverty.
#18 Since 2007, the number of children living in poverty in the state of California has increased by 30 percent.
#19 Child homelessness in the United States has risen by 33 percent since 2007.
#20 There are 314 counties in the United States where at least 30% of the children are facing food insecurity.
#21 More than 20 million U.S. children rely on school meal programs to keep from going hungry.
#22 A higher percentage of Americans is living in extreme poverty (6.7 percent) than has ever been measured before.
#23 If you can believe it, 37 percent of all U.S. households that are led by someone under the age of 35 have a net worth of zero or less than zero.
#24 A lot of younger Americans have found that they cannot make it on their own in this economy. Today, approximately25 million American adults are living with their parents.
#25 Today, one out of every six elderly Americans lives below the federal poverty line.
#26 Amazingly, the wealthiest 1 percent of all Americans own more wealth than the bottom 95 percent combined.
#27 The six heirs of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton have a net worth that is roughly equal to the bottom 30 percent of all Americans combined.
#28 At this point, the poorest 50% of all Americans now control just 2.5% of all of the wealth in this country.
#29 Back in 1980, less than 30% of all jobs in the United States were low income jobs. Today, more than 40% of all jobs in the United States are low income jobs.
#30 Right now, the United States actually has a higher percentage of workers doing low wage work than any other major industrialized nation does.
#31 Half of all American workers earn $505 or less per week.
#32 In 1970, 65 percent of all Americans lived in "middle class neighborhoods". By 2007, only 44 percent of all Americans lived in "middle class neighborhoods".
#33 Federal housing assistance outlays increased by a whopping 42 percent between 2006 and 2010.
#34 Approximately 50 million Americans do not have any health insurance at all right now.
#35 Back in 1965, only one out of every 50 Americans was on Medicaid. Today, approximately one out of every 6Americans is on Medicaid.
#36 It is being projected that Obamacare will add 16 million more Americans to the Medicaid rolls.
#37 Back in 1990, the federal government accounted for 32 percent of all health care spending in America. Today, that figure is up to 45 percent and it is projected to surpass 50 percent very shortly.
#38 Overall, the amount of money that the federal government gives directly to the American people has risen by 32 percent since Barack Obama entered the White House.
#39 It was recently reported that 1.5 million American families live on less than two dollars a day (before counting government benefits).
#40 The unemployment rate in the U.S. has been above 8 percent for 40 months in a row, and 42 percent of all unemployed Americans have been out of work for at least half a year.
“Are there years when the Romney paid no taxes at all, or only 1% or 2% while the average American is paying 35% in taxes?”
____________________________________
I didn’t have time yesterday to respond to this ridiculously clueless statement by Dr. Ron in post 1.1 in yesterday’s First Thoughts. Lefty liberals like the learned Dr. are simply not very good at dealing with numbers. If Dr. Ron believes the “average American” is paying 35% in taxes, then he probably also believes the correct answer to the math problem of 2+2 is 22.
Don’t believe me??
Go to the IRS web site and search for the 2011 Publication 17 Your Federal Income Tax and turn to page 274 where you will find the IRS tax rate schedules. What you will find is that for Single, Married Filing Jointly and Head of Household, the 35% rate applies ONLY to taxable income in excess of $379,150. Taxable income below that amount is taxed at rates ranging from 10-33%. Also, you have to remember “taxable income” is after all deductions and exemptions, so the “gross income” of these taxpayers will be higher than the $379,150 where the 35% rate kicks in.
Maybe the “average American’s” Dr. Ron knows make $400,000 plus a year, but, I think most people with more than one functioning brain cell know that thinking all “average American’s" are making that amount is ridiculously clueless and clearly out of touch with the middle class.
BTW, please don’t waste everyone’s time by going for the lefty liberal talking point about payroll taxes like SS and Medicare. Those are payments you make while working in return for future benefits you will receive when you reach the eligibility age. Most people will get back more than the put in. That’s why SS and Medicare are going broke.
Romney made a pledge to Grover Norquist
From our very own Domenico Montanaro 3 days ago:
"But in 2002, during his speech at the Opening Ceremonies at the Winter Olympics -- the games in which Romney was lauded for turning around the management -- Romney made a similar argument about Olympians.
"You Olympians, however, know you didn't get here solely on your own power,” said Romney, who on Friday will attend the Opening Ceremonies of this year’s Summer Olympics.
“For most of you, loving parents, sisters or brothers, encouraged your hopes, coaches guided, communities built venues in order to organize competitions. All Olympians stand on the shoulders of those who lifted them. We’ve already cheered the Olympians, let’s also cheer the parents, coaches, and communities. All right! [pumps fist].""
................................................
= One rule for Romney, and another rule for "You People".
“In signing the Pledge, Gov. Romney firmly commits himself in writing to fiscal discipline and economic common sense,” Grover Norquist said. “Mitt Romney has told taxpayers in no uncertain terms that he plans to look out for their interests.”

Great List!!!!!! Mr. Snyder needs to follow each fact with "and our plan worked." LOL. This president's brain is fried from his early years in high school to present day where he has been to more than 150 fund raisers. Rubber chicken syndrome LMAO.
Gee, Joey, it seems like just about a year ago we could have had us a little "Grand Bargain"...3-for-1 spending cuts for revenue increases...but, no, the Party of "No" said...well, they said, "No!" Instead put us on this path.
Now, Senator Murray says we're on the path to going over the cliff. It can be avoided...but that's up to the Speaker.
London Falling?
Yeah, when Mitt the Zitt's entourage crosses the London Bridge...
Falling down, falling down, London Bridge Falling down, My Unfair Mitt.
What amazes so many, is the fact that this foolish man, Willard Romney the talking lying buffoon, is the Republican choice for President of the United States.
Bachhouse
"You Olympians, however, know you didn't get here solely on your own power," said Romney, who on Friday will attend the Opening Ceremonies of this year's Summer Olympics
This is more proff of how duplitious Mit is.
The worse is his breaking his pledge not to criticize our President.
Mitt thinks it's well-known that Obama's relationship with David Cameron is the least frigid of his relationships with European leaders. If Romney had been en route to visit Angela Merkel, that would have been a very different story…
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/07/26/mitt-romney-anglo-saxon.html
======================================
With that statement criticizing our President of not appreciating the Anglo-Saxon heritage shows everyone how he is feeding his extreme nutjobs who think our President is other i.e. Kenyan
Mitt would one of be the worst President in American history. He can not be trusted
Obama/Biden2012
London calling????
More like the Banksters are calling Romney. They obviously support him.
Great post Dennis. You really laid it out straight.
I watched the interview with Brian Williams last night. What a whole lot of nothing. Mitt Romney is the epitome of "slick." As I watched, I tried to see why someone would vote for him. Well, he does have the chisled profile of a President, as imagined in Central Casting, I see that. But his words are absolutely devoid of content. I think he's been hired by corporate America to be their pitchman. Reminds me of all those ads from BP about how tourism is coming back to life on the Gulf - as if they had nothing to do with nearly destroying it, and the way of life of fisherman, in the first place.
At least Barry comes by it honestly. In his home town Chicago, his good buddy Mayor Rahm won't let a Chick-Fil-A be built because the CEO doesn't share the same "Chicago values." You see, the Chick-Fil-A CEO is against gay marriage, and in Chicago apparently, if you're not for gay marriage, then you're not welcome and cannot do business in that town.
But apparently having someone like Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and his history of anti-Semitic remarks around is okay. Apparently hating jews is a "Chicago value".
I guess now Rahm will be closing all the Chicago Catholic churches?
And not one comment so far about Mitt's foreign fundraisers from foreign contributors. Thanks Citizen Untied/SCOTUS.
Backhouse:
Re: post 1.6
The fact that the majority of your examples cite contracts that the government has with these companies only illustrates the fact that it is government that is dependent on business not the other way around. While I'm sure the companies are happy to have the government's business, in all liklihood they would exist without it. The fact that the government awarded contracts to these companies is actually an endorsement of their success not an indictment of it.
I personally would love to see Harry Reid's tax returns to see how he accumulated wealth of 2m - 6m on a government salary that was below 200K for most of his career.
Amy,
Thanks - One commentator called Romney’s answer to most question a “word salad”… lots of words that neither answer the question nor are understandable.
On gun control, yesterday in New Orleans Obama said this
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/07/25/obama_weve_been_able_to_take_some_actions_on_our_own_on_gun_control.html
Pay careful attention to the very last line-
   |"So in cities like New Orleans, we're partnering with local officials to reduce crime using best practices," Obama shared.|
So, what are the results of "partnering"" using "best practices"? Â Has crime in New Orleans been reduced? Â Not hardly
http://www.npr.org/2012/07/05/155986277/new-orleans-struggles-with-murder-rate-and-trust
Highest per capita murder rate in the country. Â Looks like Obama is as effective with crime as he is with the economy.
It will be nice having Romney out of the Country. Now if we could only find a way to keep him out, this Country would only get better.
Another score for our President, setting up a new educational and opportunity program for our African-American citizens. The Repugs will scream foul, but they think limiting the Black vote through voter suppression is fine. Tit for Tat. All's fair in love, war and politics.
Hey Romney, how about some tax returns before you leave? Not going to release them are you.
GOING TO COST YOU PARTNER.
OBAMA IN 2012.
Joe in Albany
Looks like ole Barry is in the running to be the most anti-business President in modern history.
Joey
That is only in the land of Albania, in other words your head because you believe every thing FOX says.
Dennis, great lists. I also want to add that Romney keeps leaving a trail of missing/deleted hard drives to ensure that no emails and no documents are ever viewed by the public, the media and the opponent(s).
What is this guy hiding?
From the news: 'Romney said during his meeting .... “Obviously, the world is a tumultuous and dangerous place" '
Yeah, but Mitt the Vulture will make it even more dangerous, IF elected. Do you still remember the last GOP president (Bush)?
But thank God, Mitt won't be president.
JoAnna:
It was the mayor of Boston, not Chicago. Nice Try!

Could the Sun and Earth exist as they do now, independently?
Was your computer made by one person, or a lot of people and a lot of parts?
How much government investment and research has gone into developing computer technology, and all its offshoots? How many years of government investment? How many Presidents both Republican and Democrat?
In the apple you eat, there is sunshine, earth, people, subsidies, transport, roads, bridges & infrastructure = Government support.
Joe in Albany
why don't you entertain us, and instead of your broad statement, why don't you give us specific examples of President's anti-business decisions/policies, etc.
Source: http://www.suntimes.com/news/13988905-418/emanuel-goes-after-chick-fil-a-for-boss-anti-gay-views.html
Do you ever get tired of being wrong?
Which tax "loopholes" would you close Dennis ? Can you actually give us a half dozen or more "tax loopholes" or is this simply a catchy little buzz phrase you like to spout ? Can you give clear and specific examples.
But electing as President a first-term senator with no executive, foreign or financial experience was the obvious choice.
Joe in Albany -- I'm thinking Business best be careful. Consumers are sick of listening to them whine. They take it to the extreme.
Consumers have a lot of power. Think Neflix, think BofA.
Consumers can decide to go on strike.
That is only in the land of Albania, in other words your head because you believe every thing FOX says.

Actually, Bev, I believe what the highly respected polling firm Gallup says in their poll on the subject. Check in with the "Chicago way" Barry campaign headquarters and get yourself a new talking point to refute the fact that Barry is anti-business and businesses know it.
Are you on magic mushrooms or are you just typing random words?
California Tom
It will be nice having Romney out of the Country. Now if we could only find a way to keep him out, this Country would only get better.
Yes, It would. But, there is one other problem with that R-money is going to cause more havoc aboard. I'm sure he and his buddy Benjamin Netanyahu will be beating the war drums to strike Iran.
Ron Indiana
JAS1 doesn't deal with facts - just propaganda. So to make her propaganda that much more effective, she substituted a name not really associated with President Obama with one that is.
Backhoser is going all hippie on us.
And the sun would do just fine without the earth hoser - I don't think it really gets much from the earth.
Thanks, Alan. I read Navy's post and wondered if all that spinning finally sent him off the rails for good.
I think maybe it has.
Joe in Albany -- I'm thinking Business best be careful. Consumers are sick of them whining. They take it to the extreme.
Consumers have a lot of power. Think Neflix, think BofA.
Consumers can decide to go on strike. Heck at more than half of the country is sick of business controlling everything.

So, now you think consumers are going to stop buying from businesses to "punish" them for "whining"??
OK
If they are successful in punishing businesses, what they will get from that is more layoffs and closed businesses.
Is that what you REALLY want to advocate for??
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First and foremost one that REWARDS companies for outsourcing jobs. LIke the one Democrats tried to eliminate back in Sept of 2008 but every Republican voted against even voting.
A bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to create American jobs and to prevent the offshoring of such jobs overseas.
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=2&vote=00242
or one from July 19, 2012, 02:15 PM
A bill to provide an incentive for businesses to bring jobs back to America.
every Republican (except 3 voting "yea", and 1 not voting) voted AGAINST IT.
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=112&session=2&vote=00181#position
Tell me jimmy, what do Republicans have against starting to reward companies that DO BRING JOBS HOME? or punish those that offshore jobs??????
Going to go live on the prairie D? Grow your own crops? Build a log cabin out of the trees you cut down? Sew your own cloths out of the hides from the buffalo you shoot? Think you'll have internet access?
What I don't understand is after four years the Democrats could not find one person to run against the worst President of all time. No one in the entire party is better than this guy? Just how low has the left sunk?
Every day Beverly gets on this board and shows what a ditz she is. When she makes statements like this, it shows her total lack of understanding for what the pledge is all about:
“In signing the Pledge, Gov. Romney firmly commits himself in writing to fiscal discipline and economic common sense,” Grover Norquist said. “Mitt Romney has told taxpayers in no uncertain terms that he plans to look out for their interests.”
In Beverly's world, fiscal discipline doesn't exist, nor should it. Politicians should be allowed to spend what they want, when they want it, as long as it goes to their voters for votes. Budgets be damned, the government can just print more money.
Beverly do you know what a pledge is? Do you have any concept of the meaning of the word? Look it up. Anytime you take a pledge, you are saying that you commit to following the principals of what you are pledging. It's not an oath. Oaths are not meant to be broken... pledges are not oaths.
Some people make much to do about nothing... and particularly the liberals on this board. Tax returns... Olympics... all a bunch of nothing about nothing.
How about some explanations of how you scrutinized Obama in 08.... did you understand fundamental change? How's fundamental change working out for the unemployed in this country... think they like it very much? How about hope and change... what did it mean to you back then and what did it mean to Obama?
No matter how you slice it, Obama is not going to win on his charm this time. Not without a record of improvement in this nation to back it up. Fool me once shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me... most people don't like the shame they will feel by giving Obama 4 more years. He can hang it up.
Joe in Albany -- Business is already laying off while sitting on record profits. Yet here they are whining Washington won't give them more? Don't you think their hands are already too deep into government pockets as it is?
JAS1- LOL. Just making a point. Business is taking this whining to the extreme. It could be worse and will be if they don't start creating jobs. They need to stop asking what their country will do for them and start doing something for their country.
Good Morning Everyone. I have been out of the country for awhile and was too busy to check in to see if I was missing anything.
Having now checked again with this site I realize that it is just SSDD.
Kind of like when we used to watch soap operas every day and would then miss for a few days. It did not take long to catch up with the ones who had committed adultery, been abducted by aliens or come out of a yearlong coma.
Same big fish in this very small pond continuing to attack (mostly Romeny and the Republicans) personally and with hate and vitriol. The right has its fair share of attackers as well but generally seem to not apply it as much to people as to the policies of people.
I used to try to provide some balance to the Dumbfux Team and their extreme bias but realized that no amount of logic and truth could sway their positions so it is much easier now to just sit back and laugh at the futility and incoherence of their posts.
@ bay lie #1.44, So baylilly ..... I have to grade you a big fat "F" for your reply as in EPIC FAILURE. I requested clear and specific examples of specific loopholes to be considered and you post meaningless links to vote summaries of certian bills ..... apparently expecting us to assume they eliminate a "loophole".
But you never said what the loophole was GENIUS !!!!
Unless we have a clear understanding of EVERYTHING CONTAINED WITHIN THOSE BILLS your argument falls flat on its face. If "pork" was included in those bills, many would vote against them regardless of the other points.
You better leave the replies to someone who knows what they are talking about and that is not you ! Kids in kindergarten can cut and paste irrelevant "stuff".
bayllie, let me ask you a very simple question... do you know the exact details of what was in those bills?
You do realize that many things are written into bills that may or may not apply to the bill itself. Since you do not know what was written into the bills, you have absolutely no idea why the bills were voted down. Just because a bill has a specific name doesn't mean the contents of that bill don't cover other sometimes worthless areas.
Here again, a liberal trying to blame republicans for things the liberal doesn't know anything about. Give me the specifics of those bills and what was written in them and that should explain why the bills were voted down... obvious items escape the uninformed liberal.
Well then that sounds like a great place to start cutting. What is governments "investment" into business? Time to start cutting. Defense contractors are already taking their medicine. Do you suggest the farmers be cut off next? Next the private airlines, who are sitting on record profits, who take way too much advantage of the FAA and those government paid air traffic controllers that keep them from running into each other.
You've got the right mindset Dcia. Cut. Cut. Cut.
Mitt Romney follows gaffe over Britain's readiness to hold Olympic games by appearing to forget name of Labour leader
Replying to the Labour leader in front of the press, Mr Romney said: “Like you, Mr Leader, I look forward to our conversations this morning ... and recognise, of course, the unique relationship that exists between our nations, our commitment to common values, our commitment to peace in the world and our desire to see a stronger and growing economy.”
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/mr-leader-did-mitt-romney-forget-ed-milibands-name-7978925.html
So JoAnna Sniff1 what do you think about your dear leader not knowing who the hell he is talking too? At our Mayor and the Mayor of Boston know who and what they are talking about unlike you and Mittens.
Hah! Hah! Mitt Romney can't even take his main foreign-policy advisor, and one of his main financial fund-raisers, Dick (Darth Vader) Cheney, because Cheney is a wanted-man in most countries overseas, for War Crimes against Humanity.
Is that Funny, or what?
And that's why this Republican is encouraging all his Republican friends, Ron Paul supporters, and all you Undecided Independent Voters, to vote a straight Democratic ticket come this November 2012.
It's the right thing to do an it'll be Fun to send Mitt Romney and the rest of his Rich (we don't pay taxes, only the little-people do) friends, back to the "Dung Heap of History" where they all belong!
ps. Is this a Great post, or what?
DCIA - Businesses will do for their country when they vote Obama out of office. That's the best thing they can do...
Watch what happens in November when Obama gets the boot... you will start to see the economy improve because it's businesses that aren't in his back pocket that will start to loosen up and start investing again. Do you remember when Obama was rising up on the scene before 08 how everything seemed to be clamping down? People aren't stupid... they knew what was ahead of them if Obama got elected... they were right.. The reverse will happen when people and businesses know he's on his way out.
According to your source:
"Ald. Joe Moreno (1st) is using the same argument to block Chick-fil-A from opening its first free-standing restaurant in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood."
Not Mayor Rahm
Beverly - Mitt forgot who he was talking to? How totally Mitt! And, he's going to impress foreign dignitaries! What a sad joke of a man he is!
I see Brockton learned to cut and paste and, like njnb thinks the longer his post the less he looks like an idiot - wrong!
I find it so embarrassing that Mitt and Anne are prancing around in other countries actually talking to dignitaries. He's such a literal klutz - it's such a bad reflection on the US. Notice there are never a lot of people around? Not like when Barack Obama went abroad prior to the elections. Clearly everyone has gotten the notice that Mitt isn't worth it!
Obama/Biden 2012
Nearly 80
percent of bundlers who raised $500,000 or more for Mr. Obama were appointed to
posts in the administration, according to a 2011 report by the Center for
Public Integrity, which tracks campaign finance issues. While most envoys got
perches in coveted capitals like Prague, Brussels, Vienna, Copenhagen or Oslo,
a few were sent to commercially or politically delicate posts like Canada and
South Africa. Can you say, "buy my vote and support"? Sure, I knew you could.
And we know this why? So I take it you are calling on Mittens to release the names of his bundlers eh?
no jo in New Jersey
The Mayor of New Orleans has just asked the federal government to partner with his police department to institute best practices. This just happened Tuesday. I know you think Obama is Superman, but that would be pretty quick to see a reduction in crime and corruption, wouldn't it?
http://washingtonexaminer.com/holder-announces-new-orleans-police-reforms/article/feed/2015392
BrianB - Before you ask Bayllie questions how come you never answered any of his the other day?
You talk about Obama not being scrutinized when he ran, yet Mitt by your posts the other day shouldn't have to talk about Bain, his time as Governor, his time with the Olympics, his financial returns. Mitt doesn't even state what he will do to "reform" the tax code. Doesn't mention how his accepted budget idea the "Ryan" plan will reduce the deficit.
What exactly does he bring other than his deep pockets?
By the way how do you feel about Romney and his numerous course corrections over the years? Flip flops on abortion, gay rights, health care mandates, Olympians didn't do it on their own, it takes a village.
It was better when you were supporting Santorum. Hey maybe you can send a check to Ron Paul.
Amy - well now you're just talking common sense and we know that is WAY beyond njnb's intelligence level!
screeeeminglib - Why should Romney release his bundlers? It was Obama that paid his with posh jobs and high positions... Or did you miss that point? I realize some things go over liberals heads, but don't make it so obvious.
The alderman started it. Rahm backed him up.
Nearly 10% unemployment in Chicago, and the leaders are turning away businesses and jobs because they don't "think" like they do. Imagine that.
One wonders what the unemployment rate is in Mr. Moreno's district.
@Seeking Sanity #1.62, You know NOTHING of njnb's intelligence level so your remarks constitute a personal attack and are inflammatory.
Yellowdog - get your facts straight. I did answer bayllie's questions... you may have either missed the answers, or of course, you being a liberal didn't like my answers. That doesn't surprise me in the least...
See, here's your problem... you don't like what Romney is saying. You parse his statements in a very off hand way and you really don't care what he's saying either... because your allegiance is with Obama. He could be very specific on every one of the topics you bring up but that isn't going to change YOUR opinion of Obama... You think Obama is entitled to 4 more years because you are still looking at him through the 2008 lens and have totally and completely ignored everything he's done bad for this country.
This is why arguing with you is totally pointless. You have shut down your brain, put up a solid metal wall and won't let anything in that exposes Obama for the terrible president that he is. I can't help you... so make all the nasty comments you want, it's pointless... you aren't even worth ridiculing.
Hey jim #'s -- On the tax issue:
I'll give you specifics. Get rid of them all loopholes and perhaps only tax wages after the first 20 thousand or so. Then use a 3 tier rate system that's progressive based on average effective rates we pay now. Why jump through hoops???
That's off the cuff, but it gives you an idea of where I stand.
The tax code is corrupt and favors the rich. Time to clean up the muddied water so they can't hide and steal anymore.
“Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values. They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors and our family members. And if you’re gonna be part of the Chicago community, you should reflect Chicago values,” Emanuel said Wednesday.
Ignoring Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan’s history of anti-Semitic remarks, Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday welcomed the army of men dispatched to the streets by Farrakhan to stop the violence in Chicago neighborhoods.
Chicago Sun-Times
Again, I ask, Ron, Bayllie do you guys ever think about what you post before you post it?
correction-- Get rid of all the loopholes....
Yellowdog said: You talk about Obama not being scrutinized when he ran, yet Mitt by your posts the other day shouldn't have to talk about Bain, his time as Governor, his time with the Olympics, his financial returns. Mitt doesn't even state what he will do to "reform" the tax code.
I talk about Obama not being scrutinized because he wasn't. Mitt has talked about Bain... liberals don't listen. He has talked about his time being Governor... liberals don't listen. He has talked about his time with the Olympics... liberals don't listen. Mitt has submitted the necessary 2 years of tax returns... liberals want more.
Why is it liberals want all these things from Romney? They aren't going to vote for him anyway. Why should liberals even care about these things? They are under the belief that Obama is definitely going to be president for 4 more years so what does Romney matter to you people? You have made a career out of bashing him... for what? Just to have fun? Since when is bashing people fun... or is it just a liberal thing?
All these things you want from Romney shouldn't mean a whit... since you feel Obama is going to take the slot.. logic dictates that you are pissing in the wind.... at least from your solid conviction that Obama has no competition.... or is it something else... like a deep seated fear that Obama will lose because America does not share your viewpoint... there are a lot more of sane people out there than there are liberals... hmmmmmmm?
Brianb-999431
let's see, I provided the link to the bill but since you can't or don't want to read it I will summarize:
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the `Bring Jobs Home Act'.
SEC. 2. CREDIT FOR INSOURCING EXPENSES.
(a) In General- Subpart D of part IV of subchapter A of chapter 1 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by adding at the end the following new section:
`SEC. 45S. CREDIT FOR INSOURCING EXPENSES.
SEC. 3. DENIAL OF DEDUCTION FOR OUTSOURCING EXPENSES.
SEC. 280I. OUTSOURCING EXPENSES.
you can read the entire bill: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c112:S.3364:
and then comment on which section of the bill offends you so much
jim-1455434
so Senate votes are now meaningless? Senate bills are meaningless? Senate's attempt on changing tax code is meaningless? This is not sufficient enough for you jimmy?
do you even know what the definition of a "loophole" is? Loopholes provide ways for individuals and companies to remove income or assets from taxable situations into ones with lower taxes or none at all. Exemptions associated with offshoring, which is defined as "any transaction in which a taxpayer reduces or eliminates the operation of a trade or business in connection with the start-up or expansion of such trade or business outside the United State" are considered loopholes.
point out the pork or anything that you disagree with in the bill
again jim, be the hero and cut and paste the "stuff" that is relevant to YOUR argument.
jim - njnb's post show her lack of intelligence and her need to spout off. I call em as I see em. But, you're so much like njnb it is no surprise you defend someone who is always wrong.
@DCIA
I agree with you but I think we'll be waiting a long time for the first politician that advocates eliminating the mortgage interest deduction.
Also, the high state tax states like NY and California will be hit hard if their residents cannot deduct the state tax from their federal. So that's only going to happen when there is a Republican congress.
ScreeemingLib:
Thanks again for watching my backside. I owe you one...no two. Have a good day.
Yellowdog-Mark D
Before Brianb quit answering questions, his argument was, and I quote:
so according to Brianb, Romney doesn't have to talk about Bain, Mass, Olympics or his tax returns.
And since he could not answer one single thing about Romney, he asked me to explain President Obama's meaning of fundamental change!

Brian B - "You think Obama is entitled to 4 more years..."
I don't think he is entitled to anything; he has to earn it by convincing people to vote for him. IMO he had put forward his plans, some of which I don't agree with, to move forward. I see nothing from Romney. Nothing. Parsed quotes or not, his plans amount to nothing more then cut spending and cut taxes, repeal Obamacare. His foreign policy is even worse because I have no earthly idea what he believes in. According to Mitt, everything Obama does, even the President's hawkish militarism is not hawkish enough. The guy (Romeny) plain scares me. I can easily forsee a war against Iran in his first year.
You say I have a problem, that may be, but I can at least say I disagree with Obama on numerous foreign and economic policies. You can not utter one word of disagreement (even on social issues) with your presumed
candidateNominee.Despite all of the faults or disagreements I might see with Obama, he is still a hundred times better than Mitt. You are right though, the balance of my like vs. dislike of Obama's tenure is in. I support Obama. I believe that if Obama wins, he can work to help compromise and address the deficit with tax increases and balanced spending cuts.
Again, bay-lie, you do not answer the question ! You do not give clear and specific examples of "loopholes" to be considered for removal. You want to throw up a bill for everyone to read, and apparently, because the bill has a cute title or catchy phrase ..... it is supposed to eliminate a loophole.
DEFINE, if you can, the specific "loophole(s)" to be eliminated and state specifically why it is a "loophole" !!!!
You will find that most "loopholes" were put into a law to achieve a specific purpose. Tax credits for purchase of hybrid vehicles were intended to stimulate energy efficiency and oil independence. Is that a "loophole" bay-lie ?????
DCIA said: The tax code is corrupt and favors the rich.
Huh? Favors the rich? If it favors the rich, why do the bottom 50% of all wage earners pay little to no taxes? You heard that right... no taxes... so how is this favoring the rich?
Alan NJ -- Don't delude yourself. Republicans are the ones already screaming over closing loopholes. They love that stuff. They can hide their payoffs that way.
Lobbyists spends billions of dollars to get their loopholes. No Republican will be honest with what they plan to do. Romney will eliminate middle class loopholes but he won't touch businesses. Your mortgage interest write off will be limited or eliminated under Romney. He has to pay for the tax cuts for the rich, at least in part. We know the math there doesn't add up.
Romney and Republicans will also raise taxes on the middle classes by taxing our employer benefits.
Brianb-999431
Brianb, Mitt is only talking about Bain's events/decisions that are convenient for him. For example: Romney brings up Stapels every chance he gets but he will not talk about other cases, such as Ampad and GS Industries - Bain-controlled companies that had to close down plants, slash hundreds of jobs, and land in bankruptcyonly because Bain wanted to make profit. So talking about Staples is ok but not about Ampad?
Romney want Us lead other nations . Obama is a follower.
Romney is proud of his country. Obama is ashamed of his country.
Romney want victory in Afghanistan, Obama want retreat.
Romney believe Venezuela joining Iran is a treat to our country, Obama said is not.
Romney believe the success belong to the people that succeed, Obama believe success belong to the government.
bayllie - Have to agree with you... the link you provided was null... nothing on the printed page. Since there was nothing in the bill you provided, I can't see why they voted it down.... when I say nothing, I mean a totally blank page. Great link... (sarcasm)
bayllie also said:
so according to Brianb, Romney doesn't have to talk about Bain, Mass, Olympics or his tax returns.
According to Brianb, he's arguing that Romney doesn't have to cowtow to liberal questions since liberals aren't going to vote for him anyway.... the liberals are convinced Obama is going to win so why should he even waste his time on your questions. It seems to me that it's only liberals that are trying to trip him up because they know Obama doesn't have a record to run on. That's what Brianb is saying.
jim-1455434
OMG, and deducting outsourcing/offshoring expenses isn't a loophole? why the need to change the subject to hybrid vehicles?
so jim, is using offshoring expenses to reduce your income so that you pay less or no tax a loophole, yes or no?
oskar - what a totally ignorant post.
President Obama is a leader in every way. President Obama has never done ANYTHING for you to say he is ashamed of our country. LIAR
There is no way to get a "victory" in Afghanistan - leaving our troops there just gets more of them killed. President Obama actually cares about our military men and women - Romney doesn't.
The rest of your post is idiotic. Go back to mommy's basement - you're too young to be playing on the computer.
Obama/Biden 2012
Man, you crack me up!
So the economy tanked before '08 because Obama was "rising up?"
Is there any straw so flimsy you won't grasp at it?
Really, you crack me up...
Brianb-999431
the link was provided to YOUR post. I guess you are not aware that you can check your own history to verify your own comment. I guess you are unable to do your own research and you rely on others to provide it for you (no sarcasm here since obviously it's a fact)
The latest from Rasmussen:
Brianb -- Educate yourself.
Answer to your question: It is attributed to our tax laws. Many of which were put in place by Republicans.
That said some of the poor pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes and fees compared to a wealthy person when you combine the state, local, and payroll taxes and add in the fees they are subjected too.
In 2000 32.6 million people paid no federal tax. In 2008 that figured had jumped to 51.6 million due to the tax breaks Bush and company, i.e. all Republicans, put in place. An increase of almost 60%.
I'll agree to taxing the poor one dollar per year. In exchange though the 1500 millionaires that didn't pay any federal taxes should have to have a clawback rate of 25%. They can afford it.

White Collar Auto
Ignoring Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan’s history of anti-Semitic remarks, Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday welcomed the army of men dispatched to the streets by Farrakhan to stop the violence in Chicago neighborhoods.
Stiff Collar What do find offensive about the Fruit of Islam helping to reduce crime? Since we don't that much police power, thanks to the repugs cutting, state budgets are small.
I consider Fruit of Islam is doing a very noble job by putting their lives on the line.
Romney's overseas trip is more about tax rate rigging and hiding his money, this is a big scandal for Romney and this will be his down fall, this Clown is a "SPAM" all he cares about is hiding his fortune !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yellowdog said: Despite all of the faults or disagreements I might see with Obama, he is still a hundred times better than Mitt. You are right though, the balance of my like vs. dislike of Obama's tenure is in. I support Obama. I believe that if Obama wins, he can work to help compromise and address the deficit with tax increases and balanced spending cuts.
You support Obama while he lies in your face... how reasonable. Let me ask you how much time you've spent researching Romney on your own, unbiased? How much time did you research Obama in 08? All you are listening to about Romney is what the liberal media puts out on him. MSNBC, or MSN is a staunch Obama supporter and the negatives they have put out on him could fit on the top of a pinhead. This is who you listen to.
While you may disagree with an occasional policy of Obama's, you are firmly seated in the belief that he is good. I solidly disagree with you. Just his continual blame game tells me he is narcissistic. He continually points the finger at republicans and has since the very beginning of his term. How can 50% of the government elected force be all bad? It can in the eyes of an extremist when they fail to look at the faults of their own party and blames everything on the other party.
Given his past statements about the national debt against GWB, he's nothing more than a hypocrite since he raised the debt by $6 trillion in ONE term. His only credit that amounts to anything is bailing out the auto industry... but the jury isn't in on that move either. He may have ultimately sunk them at taxpayers expense... not enough time has passed on it since GM still owes us $400 billion. He loaned his ideologically able friends Solyndra $500 million and guess who is holding the tab on that failure, especially when he defied the warnings from his own chief economists. Is Obama a good risk? I wouldn't want him to be responsible for giving me his hand if I were sinking in a shallow pool. But to defy logic, you would rather choose him over someone that has profited shareholders billions in business... governed over a state and is not afraid to show us his college transcripts and records. Romney may not be to your liking, but you haven't even begun to look at him objectively... you look at him through the liberal hate prism... doesn't surprise me in the least...
and Brianb nice spin but your original accusation was that people are ignorant because they vote for politicians without doing research (Article: Latino support for President Obama holds steady, post 1.29)
so I asked how do YOU RESEARCH ROMNEY since he refuses to talk about Bain/Olympics/Mass/Tax return.
Now you didn't deny Romney's secrecy, and you didn't answer how you research Romney - your response was: why should Romney talk about anything.
You also didn't include yourself in that "ignorant people" group since apparently you are unable to do any research on Romney.
So I will ask you again, and please forget the whole "liberals don't vote for Romney" excuse. How do YOU - a possible Romney supporter (I can assume that since you clearly spelled out your disapporval of Obama) research your potential candidate Romney.
DCIA said: That said some of the poor pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes and fees compared to a wealthy person when you combine the state, local, and payroll taxes and add in the fees they are subjected too.
So what you are saying is - federal taxes have no bearing on what the poor pay, correct? Even if the poor pay little to no federal taxes, the rich still have to cover them because they are poor??? How does this make ANY sense? Everyone in this country has the opportunity to make as much money as they can... but you are under the belief that the rich must carry the weight for those that will not, or even attempt it. Don't you even see that there is no basis for your argument? This is an equal opportunity country and everyone has equal opportunity... but you being a liberal must insist that the rich make too much and it's unfair to the poor... convoluted logic at it's best.
Yellowdog,
apparently, you and I will not get a straight answer form Brianb about what his knowledge of Romney is. To avoid the questions, he's bringing up Solyndra. The very topic that even Issa gave up on long time ago. But Brianb is hanging on to it like Trump is hanging on to the birth certificate "conspiracy."
The fruit of Islam Beverly? OMG, you are a Farakanian. You believe in the mothership that is stationed in orbit around the earth. Tell me Bev, when is that ship going to call you up and take you away from this planet?
ROFLMAO!!!!! No wonder you are a ditz.
Joe in Albany:
Let's review the history of the so-called "Fiscal Cliff". It originated when the US was running out of borrowing authority and the debt limit had to be raised to prevent the US from defaulting on its financial obligations. In previous instances when this was necessary it was done in a bipartisan manner with little drama. However this time the Republicans used it in an attempt to score political points and tied it to budget reductions. Protracted last minute negotiations created uncertainty as to whether the US would default and adversely affected the stock market, the economy, and job growth. In response to Republican concerns regarding the budget deficit, Obama proposed a long term package of budget cuts and revenue enhancements which the House speaker Boehner initialled agreed to, but was subsequently unable to get the Tea Party wing of his party to sign off on. The Republicans eventually agreed to raise the debt limit only enough to get the country into the middle of the next Presidential election, when they again hoped to use the issue of raising the debt limit for political advantage, regardless of the negative implications for the economy. In addition, the Republicans made their agreement on raising the debt limit contingent on automatic across the board budget cuts and the expiration of temporay tax cuts if the House, Senate and administration failed to agree on a deficit reduction plan, which the Republicans have blocked at every opportunity.
The bottom line is that the Republicans own the coming "Fiscal Cliff". Your attempt now to blame it on a/the Democrats is both disingenuous and a transparent attempt to re-write history.
Brianb -- Circular BS! The working poor pay FEDERAL PAYROLL TAXES.
YOU'RE under the belief the poor and middle classes should carry the RICH.
The rich have thousands of loopholes and write-offs. Middle class and the poor very few. Now tell me about equality.
You really are not educated on our tax system.
bayllie - Romney isn't Obama... Romney's led a good life. He has been successful in running a state. He has been successful in running a business. He doesn't hate America nor does he have any false pretense about expressing it. He has no secret agenda that is apparent. I can't say the same about Obama. I can't express it any easier. You can keep on searching for answers about Romney but you won't find any because you don't care. You are under the impression that Obama will win anyway... all this back and forth arguing won't change your opinion of Obama.
Okay bay-lie, let us now see if you can define what is an "outsourcing expense".
Deductions incurred in the production of income are normal deductible business expenses. This "disallowance" of deductions is merely a form of raising taxes on domestic corporations at a time when our corporate income tax rate for C corporations is the highest in the country. It sounds like a great plan if your goal is to send more corporations out of the U.S. thus losing their tax revenues.
Brian B- How much time did you research Obama in 08?
Kucinich was my first choice in 08, second was Edwards, Obama was third. Although I liked Clinton, couldn't stand how she refused to admit culpability even after the fact for giving Bush the go ahead to start the disaster that was Iraq. By the time of the convention I knew that although not perfect Obama/Biden was the clear choice over McCain and palin.
Obama has made mistakes. One of his biggest was to be be so conciliatory to the GOP and using their playbook to try to address the economy, healthcare, taxes.... I blame his advisors too, like Rahm Emanuel who constantly counciled for conservative solutions to our problems. The president tried, how was he to know that they would slap his hand away.
Your constant mantra is that I only see that one side is at fault. Our country is in trouble because people can not stop to work together even as we near a fiscal cliff. Yes both sides are at fault and yes both sides have ideas that should be heard. You are talking to me about hate, really?
Oh well. I will give you this, Romney is a
successful business mansuccessful corporate raider. He had had success in those business ventures. And I think you're deluding yourself. How does the Obama math add up? No changes to medicare but we just tax the rich a little more. No change to SS but we just have remove the cap on the tax. Need to invest more in education. Just tax the rich a little more. Need to pay down the deficit. Just tax the rich a little more. Pay for Obamacare, just tax the rich a little more.
And at the state level, unfunded pension liabilities. just tax the rich a little more. Pay for Obamacare (Medicaid Expansion), just tax the rich a little more.
If you don't think the Democrats are going to tax the middle class as much as the Republicans I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you, because math is not partisan.
BTW How can Obamacare, which is reported to cost 1.7T lower the deficit by 200B? You raise taxes by 1.9T. Is this 1.9T in new taxes being paid by the rich? Only a little.
Bayllie - I guess folks like BrianB are closed minded. Unable to look at different points of view without calling them evil. I for one don't think GOP policies are evil, just short sighted and not beneficial for all Americans. Brian on the other hand...
Good posting Bayllie.
Yes his first two years were just a model of bi-partisanship. Please don't give me the fairy tale about the health care mandate. It didn't get one Republican vote. It was passed because Joe Lieberman, Blanch Lincoln, Ben Nelson and Mary Laudrieu wanted it.
The comical thing about Obama supporters is that George W Bush won more bi-partisan votes than Obama has, and Bush was a dope.
DCIA - I make less than 50K a year right now... last year I paid 0 in federal taxes. I don't think I should carry the rich.. they don't need to be carried... what an incredibly stupid statement that was. Again your logic is nonexistent. Is it necessary to make such statements that really have no logical input?
Loopholes exist for everyone.. again you make no sense. You seem to believe that those that use loopholes shouldn't... for what reason? Tell me you you wouldn't use a loophole if you could... Are you paying your maximum taxes or do you use the credits allowed... why? How many members in your family... tell me you omit the family credits when you do your taxes... do you see how lame that argument is?
Nope Alan NJ -- As a Democrat I will continue to push for real reforms like clean taxes, clean bills, etc. A deficit and debt reduction plan similar to Simpson-Bowles.
BTW -- Romney has already come out and said he will eliminate the mortgage deduction for some.
Brianb-- Here's the difference between me and you. I'm more conservative than you. That's a fact. Most Democrats I know are. Who eliminated pay as you go? Republicans. Who never paid for anything? Republicans. Brian if you read what I advocate in the tax arena you would see you sound lame.
Brianb-999431
that's the only thing Romney is consistent on . I'm not Minnie Mouse but will provide you no facts to prove that I am not. Is that sufficient for you?
so what? So did Bernie Maddoff
show me the Romney success in Massachusetts - examples supported by evidence. BTW, is Romney not talking about these so-called successes in Massachusetts because he is too modest?
Brianb, I am a successful CEO/billionaire of a major company but I will provide no evidence to you to prove it. According to your logic, you have to believe me that I am successful, a CEO, and a billionaire just because I said so.
From Washington Post Fact Checkers
So it would seem if you use job growth and debt as two metrics Romney's record in Massachusetts is at least as good if not better than the current Administration.
What other metrics would you like to compare after all we are looking for empirical facts not opinion, right?
Alan, NJ
Was the ACA modeled on a democratic idea or a republican one? Were not all of the committee bill versions stacked heavily with GOP suggestions even so the same GOP Reps and Senators who submitted them could ultimately vote against the overall bill?
Bush got more things passed because despite his questionable entry and miniscule margin of "victory" into the office. He pushed for education reform. Although not something everyone wanted it was an attempt to improve standards - Democrats voted for it.
He got resolutions to attack Iraq because few Democrats had the spine to ask the tough questions while Bush led a jingoistic bunch of war hawks to war. No dem wanted to have attack ads run against him ("Mr. John Democrat supports terrorism.")
Bush got the Patriot act passed because he got nearly all the Democrats to willingly give up freedom for supposed protection. See the previous paragraph about attack ads.
He got the Bush tax cuts passed because no one wants to run on tax increases. Another ad they were afraid of "Mr. John Democrat is against tax cuts."
Bush also got things passed because despite the division and partisanship Democrats didn't have the outright contempt for the president.
Expansion of Medicaid I think is pretty Democratic. But tell me why in committee, where the Democrats had the majority, no bills came out that had single payer or the public option? If no Republican voted for the bill, why was there no amendments offered that removed the individual mandate and substituted single payer or public option? Why was there no amendment proposing a tax to pay for the bill instead of a tax penalty?
I know you want to believe the bad Republicans caused this mess of a bill that pleased nobody, but the facts are it was constructed by Democrats, passed by Democrats and the individual mandate was included because not enough Democrats would vote for it if there was no individual mandate. Those Democrats that insisted on the individual mandate were speaking for the Insurance Companies who did not want a public option.
LOL....and Democrats passed the NDAA and re-authorized the Patriot act?
Obama escalated the war in Afghanistan and started a war in Libya with no Congressional approval (something Dick Cheney would be proud of)
Obama extended the Bush tax cuts
I know I come over as critical of Obama, but that is more a reaction to the posters here who bash Bush and Romney and praise Obama. When I look at the facts what I see is that there is very little difference between Bush and Obama. Both have been below average on the economy. Their foreign policy is indistinguishable. Obama is more socially liberal which I largely support but its not decisive as he's very conservative before supporting a position. For example his gay marriage support is laughable as it was so transparently politically expedient. And both Bush and Obama have been criminally negligent on the deficit. That is my biggest beef because this will haunt us for the next generation.
Alan, NJ
On the ACA, the reason why the Democrats didn't do a public option were because of the insurance lobby. Yes do you want me to say it, democratic politicians are bought and sold. They peddle their influence for contributions and do the bidding of the lobbyists. Maybe it is silly for me to say but IMO the GOP are worse. Citizen's United has made it easier. Why didn't democrats push for the individual mandate, because there were only so many Feingold's, Kucinich's and Sander's. You know they could barely get the ACA passed due to the blue dogs you mentioned.
Also, you should know that I was against the NDAA, patriot act extension, Libya incursion. I was against the extension of the Bush tax cuts. I have taken Obama to task on these. Never seen me complain about Obama's foreign policy?
In seriousness, you do know that if Romney wins he will not try one iota to do a balanced approach regarding the deficit. You can't only cut or only grow your way out of the hole. You have often quoted Alan Simpson's quote to that effect.
I am concerned about the deficit, I am concerned about the economy. I honestly think that Obama if re-elected will have more fortitude to be realistic and make the tough choices.
You see this is where we disagree. I cannot see Obama, who still aspires to be transformational, dismantle the New Deal - not when he wants to expand Medicaid. We can raise taxes all we want, Clinton rates bring in 400B, remove the cap on SS and introduce the Buffet rule. But that will only bring in 500B to 600B a year assuming the economy gets down to 6% unemployment; it will be less if it stays at 8%. There is no chance of either party cutting defense by more than 200B a year (and that is being optimistic). So that still leaves a deficit of around 700B a year with Medicare costing a 100B a year more, every year for the next 10 years.
I don't like the Ryan plan but it addresses Medicare and Medicaid and that's where the money is being spent. I know the Republicans spent like drunken sailors during the Bush Administration and so they are not to be trusted but there is a better chance that they will cut spending than a Pelosi led House, and hopefully their tax reform will at least be revenue neutral and not another budget buster.
I'll take that $500 billion reduction by removing all the Bush tax cuts and increase SS cap.
I can stomach some of the Bowles Simpson plan. Broadening the base, reducing some tax rates and eliminating loopholes. I'm middle class so the following can be done to me, maybe not for the working poor. I'm four years from paying off my 15 yr Mortgage; take away my deduction, my son will be in college in four years take away my deduction. Make the SS age slowly increase a couple months. Means test the rich on who gets what for SS. I don't have all the answers Alan, but I do know that everyone must pay more, get rid of the deductions on Mitt's two dozen houses etc....
The Ryan plan is where we part. The excessive spending cuts are where we part. I don't have the facts to back this up: but it would seem that by cutting government jobs and agencies that will do a lot more to hurt unemployment and drag the economy vs the supposed benefit it would do to reduce expenses.
What I do know is that a Romeny presidency, a McConnell led senate and a Boehner house will not do a revenue neutral budget - not with the Ryan blueprint.
Got to go.
London Calling at 3:00 am?
TARP had no strings attached to require the Banksters to increase lending in exchange for the bail-out. The argument made was the Banksters would do the right thing on their own. The LIBOR scandal is an even more glaring example of blind trust of Banks -- WTF?
Romney wants to return to the days of complete deregulation of financial institutions, so that Wall Street and the Banksters can run wild. Heck, he wants student loans to be issued through banks again, at a profit with free guaranteed money from the
government, from thetax payer, from you. Anyone who proposes a fox guarding a hen house is insane.Romney -- He's not in it for you.
someotherguy-1373018 -- Agreed. And the other thing people don't realize is how much money that has cost the United States -- Not just in the lower credit rating and higher interest rates, but the entire waste of congressional resources during that time and other costs.
Romney IS a Man of the World.......he cannot dispute it, as he visits his admitted bank accounts in the Cayman Islands, then jts off to visit his banker and his money at the Swiss Banks where he hides more money made in the USA, and,of course a stop in Bermuda where he has additional monies MADE in the USA hidden away........
He is NOT revealing his taxes for the past ten years BECAUSE it would put investigative reporters onto the track of even more secretive bank accounts and shady businesses......hey, his father was a Mexican.....maybe Romney has Narco-Funds down there ??
I'm curious about the unnamed person who made the 'Anglo-Saxon' comment -- this person wasn't very informed on the history of what is today the UK. There were more than Angles and Saxons who had a hand in that part of the world.
I'm curious that it's an "Unnamed ADVISOR". how do you have an ADVISOR and not know who they are?
Mitt steps on the world stage, promptly put his foot in his yap and falls off. I'm beginning to think Romney isn't even as smart as W. Bush and that a low bar to fall under. Think about it -- even Bush never managed to anger the Brits but Romney has.
Great news for me personally, my friends, I get to spend the weekend at home. Yes, they have a nurse coming in 3 times a day and tons of medical equipment. But to be in my own home and bed is wonderful. Hugs to everyone.
Phine, that is OUTSTANDING NEWS!!!!!! Enjoy it. Hugs back at ya!! :-)
So glad to hear it phine. My best to you.
Great day Phine
You're going home have fun.
Hi Phine,
That's Wonderful!
Wonderful news phine! My continued healing hugs, thoughts and prayers!
Awesome news Phine!
Enjoy!
@ Backhouse
HAHAHAHAH... you my friend are funny. You used the Word lucrative and $52,525 in the same sentence. In my state id OWE money after that contract.. County, STATE, and Fed tax's on that. not to mention the double social security tax i have to pay (my biz pays it on my salary, and i pay it again out of my salary)
your seriously ignorant if you think 52K is a lucrative anything.
Phine Great news, enjoy your weekend. Sending you prayers and good thoughts.
Enjoy ! Enjoy !! Enjoy !!! Be smart and take it easy, we are thinking about you.
President Obama:
But Mitt Romney disagrees completely. Every bullet fired by a gang banger in Chicago or by a deranged gunman in Aurora makes a profit for the gun industry, and some of the profit ends up in the bank accounts of Mitt's campaign and super PACs
Phine, that is very excellent news. "Tis oh so true, there's no place like home. Best to you and yours.
phine - so glad you're getting to spend time at home. Enjoy being in your own surroundings and sleeping in your own bed! I know you'll be flooded with well-wishers. Take it easy and enjoy!
Does Mitt Romney remind anybody else here of the "Queen of Mean", the late nasty Leona Hemsley who publicly quoted for the whole world to hear, ("I don't have to pay taxes, only the little-people pay taxes").
God, would that be a Great ad, to have Hemsley's face "morph" into Mitt Romney's smug-smirking face, as both ot them seem to be saying exactly the same thing:
"I don't have to pay taxes, only the little-people have to pay taxes".
Are you listening Democratic party people, and those people who put together political TV ads?
Phancy - just being in your own home will make you feel tons better. I am waiting the day when you will go home and not have all that medical equipment with you... or need a nurse to assist. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and can eat some of your favorite foods.
"Mr Romney!, ah, I say old man, what is your plans to improve the US economy"? I've got a plan unlike anything anyone has ever seen before, that's how I'll do it. "That's not very revealing, I must say, respectfully". That's all the people need to know. Just vote for me, get rid of Obama, and I'll fix 'em right up, day one! And at the declaration of the great Wanna be, Bishop, Presidential candidate, and up and coming sh^t slinger, many of the residents along the banks and tributories of "Sh^t Creek" roared their approval. Gwaaaaddamn?
And what are Obama's plans ? Nothing he has tried so far has had a significant effect except Obamacare and that was a NEGATIVE effect. Raising taxes on the "wealthy" may get him votes, but it will only pay for about 10 days of our deficits.
Will Obama have a budget .... for the first time ? Will he sue more states over border issues ?? What ARE Obama's plans for the future ???
jim-1455434 #2.16: Only if we can get rid of the gwaddamn Congressional republicans. Their use is only appropriate to the knots on "BOY DOGS PENISES". Problem with that though, is; people's needs are different than dogs.
Mac, I have learned to expect less and less from you .... you do not disappoint !
No Democrat has yet to cast a vote in support of Obama's budget proposals. Getting rid of all Congressional Republicans gets him votes how ???
Phine,
There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place home!
Congrats!
Romney's down fall will be a VP TeaReTard !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jim-1455434 #2.18: Seriously? From the top of my head to the soles of my feet, I THANK YOU. We ever meet, I'll buy you a "Whopper" unless you insist still, on banana's.
Mac, I am so glad to know your focus is on "BOY DOGS PENISES". Perhaps, you are friends with "Jerry".
Again, how many Democrats have cast a vote for Obama's budget proposals ?
Jim,
As long as it doesn't involve taking us into to 2 unfunded wars, I'm ok with his plan.
AND, He can't do it by himself.
Why are you, and all of the right wingers not upset at your congress men/woman?
Why are you not asking them to put forth a jobs bill?
Why are you not pouring your hater-aid where it belongs?
Let's face it and call it what it is. You and your right wingers don't like this President because he is a Democrat and the fact that he is a BLACK Democrat makes you like him even less.
We're ok with that, that is your right, but stop your lies. Be a man/woman and say. "I hate him because he's ( ) but, to say he's done nothing for America just shows you and people who think like you are just ignorant and wrong.
Another question.
What is wrong with providing your citizens with HEALTH CARE?
Why don't you want to take care of the people who take care of you? (i.e taxes)
I would think that the citizens of any nation are or should be the most valued asset to that nation.
We will spend senseless billions to build bombs, rockets, bullets, guns, fighter, jets, tanks but, you will cry foul when we have to talk about taking care of our sick and poor. You cry foul when we talk about education, building new schools, hiring new teachers.
You are the same people who cry that the government is too big and needs to stay out of our business, but, will cheer them for telling women when/where and how to have their vagina's examined.
And the shame of it all is, you are falling (right) into their trap.
And, if you want to talk about a failed Presidency just look back from 2002-2008 and you will find one of the biggest in the past 60 years.
1. 2 UNFUNDED WARS
2. At the end of his Presidency the economy was shedding over 700,00 jobs a mouth.
3. Dick Cheney
4. Donald Rumsfeld
5 The list goes on.
.Obama the promise BREAKER!! Equals a LIAR!!! BIG EMBARRASSMENT to the USA!!!
Obama’s promise that his healthcare proposals would “never be purchased with [a] tax increase on middle-class families.” The SUPREME COURT & JUSTICE DEPT say it is a TAX!!! .Attack on the middle Class! Taxation by misrepresentation
…….…NOW Obama wants to invade Syria and Iran!!!
..mr. American businessman..YOU DID NOT MAKE THAT!! It was stolen from the back of the worker---PURE MARXISM!!
Remember these?
THE OBAMA CHRONICLES:
“I promise 100% transparency in my administration.”.
“I promise NO NEW TAXES on a family making less than $250K a year.”.
“I will allow 5 days of public comment before I sign any bills.”.
“I will remove earmarks from PORK projects before I sign any bill.”.
“I will end Income Tax for seniors making less than $50K a year.”.
"I will bring ALL of our troops home within ONE year."
“I’ll put the Health Care negotiations on CSPAN so everyone can see who is at the table!”.
“I’ll have no lobbyists in my administration."
"I'll close Guantanamo."
"I'll resign if I don't cut the deficit in half by the end of four years."
"I'll unite the people of this great country."
“The TROOPS will be home for CHRISTMAS.” WHY ARE MORE LEAVING EVERYDAY???? AND DYING every day…
NOW Obama invokes Executive Privilege( as a Sen. called it’s use a RUSE!) for Holder on GUN SMUGGLING and killing US Agent Brain Terry!!! That only applies if Obama was part of it!! Obama & Holder should be on trial for giving Machine Guns to the Mexican Drug cartels!!
BETTER KNOWN AS LIES.
Fool me once shame on YOU!
Fool me twice shame on ME!
My elected Representative and Senators are doing just fine. House bills have been passed, but you will have to go to the Senate and physically lift up Harry Reid's a$$ to find them. Harry will not allow them to be considered.
Congress voted FOR the wars in the past and Congress also passes the budget. John Kerry and Hillary Clinton voted FOR those wars. Bill CLinton and Madeleine Albright had used terminology "Weapons of Mass Destruction" long before the younger Bush was elected.
So, now you are focused on "vaginas" ? Perhaps you and Mac can get together since his focus seems to be on male anatomy.
Providing "Health Care" has a cost. If you think government needs to "provide" health care, then you are one of those hopeless liberals believing "more 'gubmint" is the answer to everything. Obamacare is simply another government entitlement program the U.S. cannot afford. Remember, we are $16 trillion in debt .... and rapidly rising under Obama.
@jim-1455434#2.22: If people like you wish to be treated seriously why don't you get some "in depth" information and understanding of what the hell you're talking about, instead of running over to "google", looking at a piece of crust, then running back here and posting crap as the complete cake?
For instance: Do you know what a "potemkin Obama budget" is? Are you aware of these bogus shenangan budget proposals the republicans in both the House and Senate have proposed as Obama budgets? The democrats damn sure aren't going to vote on those. The Senate's Harry Reed is sitting on "House passed" jobs bills? Another gwaddamned fable. You ever read any of these bills? When It's apparent posters factually don't know their asses from "morning glory blooms" I'll poke a little fun at 'em, but I'm not going to waste my time arguing with their bullsh^t. You want to learn? Then learn. Want to play in BS? Go ahead. Just don't throw it my way, unless you expect to get a good dusting back.
Addendum to #2.26: The republicans weakened, and to some extent messed up the Presidents efforts with the "Health care reform Bill". After passage, which they helped, they ran all over the country exaggerating and lying about Its content and cost, allowing the small minded, fools, racists, and general unknowing, to quake, fear, and hate, as so many were predisposed to in the first place. Nearly all of it was a gwaddamned pack of lies. Since then , with republicans, and their supporters, we have lived among those, and been governed by a Congress of those, whose only purpose, is to, "tie that darky down". I have no sympathy or empathy for such sons-a-bitches. They have done this at the expense and suffering of many good, worthwhile, working class Americans, the elderly, and CHILDREN. It's a Goddamn crime!
That's bull$hit Mac ! You guys OWN this pos legislation from start to finish. Democrats met behind closed doors, working out their "deals" with big pharma to exclude Canadian drugs, and AARP to "BUY" their support. Even then, Democrats had to bribe Democratic Senators Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Ben Nelson of Nebraska. Republicans were not allowed to do anything in the process.
Even then, Obama had to abuse this budgetary "thingy" called Reconciliation because he wanted to disenfranchise Scott Brown's vote from Massachusetts.
Then, of course, you sneak in "the race card" because you know your bs is thin.
jim-1455434#2.28: You would do well to have a good look at this, from first proposal until final passage. I never play in BS when I'm serious. Even then, i stay away from the thin stuff.
First, excellent news Phine. You'll get better and feel stronger in familiar surroundings.
Secondly, clueless cluelessness seeks a hint. Rombot's programming must not be approved by the State Department for international export. Rombot calls out the London Olympic game organizers, can't answer questions from American reporters, can't remember Ed Milibrand's (labour Party leader) name, organizes fund raiser with bankers under investigation for fraudulent currency manipulation. Hell, he can't even remember Anne's fancy horse's name. I suppose when you ship that mediocre Mittronics across the ocean, some corrosion/degradation is to be expected. It won't get any better because...
Rombot.Has.Nothing.
Wow, Mac, looks like Jim has TRUE colon vision
The 2nd round of Bush Tax cuts WERE Reonciliation, no?
WOW,...once again, it is okay if a Republican does it,...not when a Democrat does it.
The current ACA was originally designed by the Heritage Foundation, Bob Dole and finally - executed as Romney Care in MA. The only reason it is NOT a single payer system is that the ME Senators refused to allow it to discussion without amendments. Many Republican Amendments were added that watered the sucker down,...All so they could then Flip the Bird and vote nay anyway. If you guys and your oral fixation want something shoved down your throat. It can be arranged; but by no stretch of the imagination can you continue to claim THIS bill as some secretive overreach. The facts just are not on your side with that rant.
Clara KCMO#2.31:So right. Remember too, those republicans helping Kent Conrad and Mark Warner in the beginning. Saxby Chambliss of Ga., Tom Coburn of Ok. and Michael D. Crapo of Id. This is just at the beginning. Regards
"Mitt the Twit" says England, George W. Bush's best ally in the Iraq war. What diplomatic skills!
101 Tax Return Questions Mitt Romney Must Answer Before This PR Nightmare Goes Away for Him
TJ Walker
Mitt Romney has taken a public relations beating for the last two weeks regarding his decision to release only one year of his Federal Income taxes. Romney’s efforts so far at damage control and changing topics have been unsuccessful.
Questions for Mitt Romney
Business Disclosure You Require
1. As a businessman, did you ever acquire a business that was an ongoing concern that refused to divulge its profit and loss statements for more than one year, even though it had been in business for more than a quarter of a century?
2. If you wanted to look at the profits and losses of a mature company for more than one year before investing Bain Capital’s money or your own money, how many years did you ask for and why did you want that many years?
3. Is the decision to invest in a company a more important decision than who will be a leader of the free world?
Vice President Disclosure
4. How many years of tax returns will you be asking for from your vice presidential nominee?
5. Why?
6. What sorts of things are you looking for in the tax returns of your prospective VP candidates?
7. What is the sort of thing a prospective running mate might have on a personal income tax form that might make you remove that person from consideration as your running mate?
8. What if a potential running mate paid zero in taxes one year?
9. Would that be a reason for not selecting him or her?
10. What would you do if a potential running mate failed to file a tax return one year?
11. How would you judge a potential running mate who used extraordinarily aggressive techniques in creating tax deductions and was later fined by the IRS, but never found guilty of any criminal wrongdoing?
12. Why did you give John McCain 22 years of your tax returns?
13. Was it inappropriate for McCain to ask for so many tax returns?
14. Why didn’t you tell McCain that is was none of his business what your tax returns were?
15. Why should John McCain get to know 22 years worth of tax information about you when considering you as a vice-presidential selection, but American voters only get to know one year’s worth of tax information?
Disclosure
16. You suggest that because you do not legally have to make your tax returns public, then you should not have to do so. Aren’t there many things American voters expect from serious presidential candidates that are not legally required?
17. If your opponent refused to disclose whether he believed in God or practiced any religion, would that be unacceptable to the American people?
Move up http://i.forbesimg.com tMove down
18. Would you criticize such a candidate?
19. You only paid 13.9% of your income in taxes in 2010, a year that was two years after your last run for President and during a time in which you were again planning on running for president and when you knew your tax records would become public record. This leads many political observers to conclude you had every incentive to make your tax bill higher than normal in order to avoid criticism from the media and your political enemies. But, if 13.9% was your high mark, it makes many people wonder if perhaps your average tax rate was more like 10%, 5% or even lower. Isn’t that fair?
Deductions
20. Conservatives once ridiculed Bill Clinton for writing off his own underwear as a charitable tax deduction to the IRS. Are there any deductions you could have taken on your taxes but you didn’t because you feel they would be inappropriate or unseemly, even though they might be legal?
21. How much of a business loss on your dressage horse ballet ventures have you put on your tax returns over the years?
22. Can you think of an example when you said to yourself, “I know I could claim that as a tax deduction, but it just would not look right?”
23. If so, when was that?
24. Can you think of times when you said, “I know I could legally claim this as a deduction, but it would not be the morally right thing to do?”
25. If so, when was that?

To paraphrase a commercial that is quickly becoming familiar.
“It’s alright to admit that Ol’ Willard is a bad candidate for President.”
After all you’ll Yahoo’s didn’t have much to choose from but how is that the fault of We the People who have to put up with this Bushra till November.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA -- The people who spend time on this stuff need to get a life. They must be in a dark room in crap up to their necks turning into mushrooms and brains to mush. How insignificant in the scheme of things.
Why not make people feel better and release them. His father did. It makes you think that he is hiding something bad.
Obama 12 years
Biden 14 years
Gingrich 1 year
Romney 1 year ( Only part of a year)
Santorum 4 years
McCain 2 years
Palin 2 years
W Bush 8 years
Cheney 8 years
Clinton 8 years
G. Bush 3 years
Nixon 4 years
George Romney 12 years
It will never be enough!
Two is required. Two is what you get.
Keep looking here so you take the focus off the worst President ever.
We get it but it only works on your base. Not people with an IQ above dirt.
Cheers to T.J. Walker's great list of questions and why they need to be answered.
IR, spot on. It's not the fault of We the People if the GOPers picked a man who believes it is beneath him to meet the same standards of disclosure as every other presidential candidate for the past 30 plus years.
holly, how nice that you buy Mitt Romney's excuses. Odd, though, since there are dozens of republicans demanding he release his tax returns and wondering just like everyone else--"what's he hiding?"; after all, it's the GOP whose integrity is also in question--they picked him, he's their guy.
If Romney has nothing to hide, then his opponents and the media will find nothing of value. All we want is openness. The fact that Romney refuses to release the records screams there's a lot of damaging data in those returns and he knows it.
If Obama has nothing to HIDE, surely he will release all his college records.
jim - your stupidity is showing - as usual. College transcripts have NEVER been released by any President .
From Outside the Beltway:
The common response to the points I’m raising here usually boils down to mentioning the fact that The New Yorker managed to get its hands on George W. Bush’s Yale transcripts during the 2000 campaign. They didn’t get them from the Bush campaign and, technically, whoever released them was violating Federal laws regarding the privacy of education records. Several months later, The Washington Post managed to get its hands on Al Gore’s education records, again without the consent of the campaign and in apparent violation of Federal law.
Now go back under your rock until you can find something LEGITIMATE to whine about!
Obama/Biden 2012
Jody,
Really, it was just a long list of baited suggestions, not questions.
"every other presidential candidate for the past 30 plus years." - wrong. He has met the requirements. Leave it alone...it will get you know where. All you want is an opportunity to attack him for being good at what he does (liberals hate success). it's strange that you guys hate success so much. It does not seem right that anyone would prefer to have a failure in office, but hey, look who you elected last time.
He's not hiding anything. He is simply narrowing your opportunity to attack him on things that don't matter. Smart move on his part.
"All we want is openness." - Not true. All you want is an opportunity to make him the evil rich guy you want him to be.
You guys are transparent.
Oh, look, here comes jim#'s for deflection time; time to change the subject because even jim knows that Romney's hiding lots of damaging information. Can't have that, though, because...because...well, because Mitt, Mitt, he's our guy.
What are you hiding Mitt Romney?
Jody - and since Romney has yet to even turn over 1 full year of tax returns he is failing to even meet the very minimal requirements for candidates. Of course, he doesn't meet the minimal requirements for a good candidate in so many areas!
Obama/Biden 2012
Middlin' who's hating on success? All I want is a chance to learn how much of Ol' Willard's "success" I've subsidized by paying MY Taxes over the years. At a higher rate than Ol' Willard will admit to BTW.
in the middle,
Actually many of us on the Left are hoping he will continue to refuse to release his tax return because it will be an issue all the way to November causing many undecided voters to not trust him because of the appearance that he is hiding something. But we will never stop asking!!
This is Mitt Romney’s “Catch 22”.
Cmon Dennis. You know you want those tax returns. You think it will provide more red meat for the president -- which I understand because he is starting to look like one of the extras on the Walking Dead. LMAO!!!!!
WRONG
No returns are "required." Obama released six years or more before he was elected.
So what is Mittens hidding?
sreeeeminglib - 2 years is the minimum in modern times EVER given by a Presidential candidate and only 2 candidates released 2 years - one being McCain. Romney has not yet released a full year of tax returns. Certainly raises questions in intelligent people's minds.
Obama/Biden 2012
Romney's excuse for not releasing his tax returns is that Democrats will find something in them to criticize him for. Doh!
A better candidate would say, "here are my tax returns. I will answer any questions you can raise about where I keep my money and how I reduce my tax rate."
When Barack Obama was criticized for his relationship to the fiery Rev.Wright, he didn't hide from the criticism, he faced it square on and gave an insightful speech on race, religion and politics. President Obama has been open about his childhood, his adolesence, and his associations, and has never tried to hide his actions. My God, he even released his birth certificate to prove he was born in Hawaii.
Amy - in simple speak- Romney is hiding things. And, he thinks intelligent people don't realize this? But, it is keeping the small minded on topic - they so want to believe every lie he tells!
Imagine if Romney stopped Flip Flopping, Etch A Sketch would go out of business. Draft Dodgers don't get elected President !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So Romney ignores his own press. Is that an example of begin as you mean to go on? The press serves an important function, to challenge those in power when necessary. If we allow them to ignore our journalists, guess what folks, the loss is ours! American journalists SHOULD be offended, and we should be outraged on their behalf.
As to Annie and her dressage horse...Mittens says it is "her sport" and he has no knowledge of it. He has enough knowledge to be taking business write offs which causes each citizen in this nation to "pony up" so Annie can have a toy for her own gratification. Makes her feel important, don't you know.
I doubt that Annie has ever had the business end of a barn rake in her hands.
Your first paragraph is your opinion, but to disparage a person with a terminal illness (yes MS is fatal) with what she uses as therapy is wrong. Ann Romney is a strong woman -- a woman with courage and strength that should be commended not condemned. If what is legal under tax law is what is being filed in the tax returns, then no one should draw any other conclusions.
Get off it Ben. That horse is no more a therapy horse than you are. It is purely a way for Annie to feel important. " Look what MY horse won."
I owned a horse that actually did the work. She carried kids with disabilities, including my own son. Annie equating a $200,000 Warmblood with the crucial work MY mare did makes me furious.
And, my mare retired safely here. She was not sold on, doped up, to hide infirmities. Annie ought to be ashamed of herself.
My mother died of ALS. Cry me a river about poor Annie.
Then compassion and not judgement should be coming from you. I will never understand why some feel they should stand in judgement of others when they have felt the same pain and faced death head on. So back at ya. You need to "get off it."
Ben--if Ann's horse is her therapy horse, why are they writing off over $70,000 of its expenses in 2010 as a BUSINESS LOSS. Who knows what else has been written off in other Romney tax returns, which he still won't disclose. Why is that?
The IRS has strict rules about deducting losses in business ventures, which have to be bona fide businesses. Seems by his own words Mitt has said the horse isn't a business so why did he deduct that loss on a return he knew would be made public?
Simply this, Ben, and I will try to make it as simple as I can for you. Complex information is over your head.
Annie has made her illness an issue in this campaign. We are supposed to SWOON at the very thought that she is out there campaigning, all the while, SO ill, and SO disabled.
Bullcrap.
She has the best medical services that money can buy. She has shown no sympathy or interest in those who do not. There are PLENTY of people who have MS who do not whine about it like she does, and who also cannot work, cannot access the medical services they need, that come to Annie, with no effort made on her part.
She has a choice. If she is truly impaired, maybe her worthless husband should put that first and not run for office.
Or: she can get off the pity pot.
I care as much about pathetic Annie and her MS as she cares about anyone else who is suffering from some illness.
And I am tired to death of hearing that this horse is "therapy" for her. She can go pet a horse that doesn't cost a gazillion dollars.
And maybe it would do her soul some good to go visit a therapy riding center.
Steeler -- You need to ask those questions to a CPA and/or show one the tax return and justifications for the deduction. Ask a non-biased expert in the field, not me, if you truly seek answers to questions. I believe that if this was a red flag for the IRS, the agency would/will act. Til then what ever was done is legal.
We do agree on one thing -- GO STEELERS!!!!!
The horse used in the Olympics spends hours each day in training. This is no therapy horse and anyone who has had any interaction with people who use therapy horses knows it. This horse is strictly an investment and is never used for therapy.
Ben, your comments are ridiculous and you would know that if you bothered to look into the subject. The Romney's are just cheating - as they do so well.
It is unfortunate that Anne Romney has MS but this doesn't make her someone to look up to. She is not courageous - people who have MS and aren't given the constant pampering she gets - those people are courageous. People who have MS and yet work every day with their illness - they are courageous. People who have MS and are constantly striving to still maintain normal lives - they are courageous.
Anne Romney is just unfortunate - nothing about her is courageous.
Obama/Biden 2012
@NewDay -- (shake head) I am sorry you feel so ashamed that you have to attack a beautiful lady who only answers questions when asked.
You make those hateful remarks about a lady of courage when another lady of courage on this board uses friends on here and at home for support. Talking about a problem is a common therapy used to cope with reality. Whether you are on the national spotlight or on a common blog, that therapy is just a valid and needed. When you strike out at one, then you strike out at many and one can only conclude you do not care about the collateral damage.
Oh No -- the gutter level of this string has just reared its ugly head. Any one who faces an illness, faces death, is courageous. That's enough said to you. I will not acknowledge you anymore.
Sanity, as usual you are beating a "Dead horse" .... slight pun intended. If it was illegal as you claim, the IRS would have pounced on it before ! Nice try !!
jim - I didn't say it was illegal - that's your stupidity talking. I said they were cheating by calling it a therapy horse. But, they're getting away with it. If they get caught and it is proved not to be a therapy horse they will pay a fine.
And, stupid jim, Romney's taxes are not audited each year. It may be that questions have not been raised about the horse - yet!
The difference is Ben, and do try to wrap your brain around this: Annie is not using this to bring the focus to the services that people with illnesses like MS, (or like my mom had ALS )need.
She is focused solely on her. Poor POOR Annie.
There is no room for anyone to proffer sympathy to her, she is too busily engaged in herself.
Good reason for those tax returns to be released, don't you think? We can find out how much money Annie has given to riding programs for the disabled, and to causes that benefit MS.
My mare was a volunteer. What has Annie done?
SeekingSanity, You said they were "cheating". If you were NOT trying to imply they were doing something "illegal', then perhaps you could explain yourself now.
This should be fun .... kind of like Obama trying to weasel his way out of saying "You didn't built that ! "
Oh, by the way, high-profile people with very high incomes like Romney get audited very frequently. Besides, I am sure his CPA's have considered the tax ramifications carefully.
Seeking Sanity: No truer words ever spoken:
"Ann Romney is just unfortunate." She is that indeed. Unfortunate in her inability to understand how she comes across to those of us who deal with family members who REALLY are disabled, and do not have the resources she does.
And in her inability to suss out how she comes across to those of us who lives were graced by an amazing, intuitive horse, who was actually in the arena.
I still remember the day a four year old broke away from her mother, ran to my mare and wrapped her arms and legs around the mare's rear, off side, leg. Annie's horse would have gone straight up in the air.
My sweet mare? Nope. She froze. You could see her set her feet so she would not accidentally step on the child. And she waited until help came.
Let me guess, NewDay, your horse was sired by Mr Ed and that's why he could talk enough to "volunteer," right? Totally ridiculous comment.
jim - "very frequently" is not every year. We have no idea how many years they have been claiming the horse as therapy and we don't know the last time they were audited.
KC - what an idiotic lack of comprehension. You show your total stupidity with that post - oh and most of your other posts!
@NewDay -- In 2006 Ann Romney received the MS Society Inspiration Award; the Lifetime Achievement Award for Operation Kids; she has been a director of Best Friends; an honorary board member of Families First; she started as a volunteer member for United Way and then became a board member; she was on the advisory board of Stand for Children; in 2002 she co-chaired Olympic Aid which provides athletic activities and programs for children in war-torn regions.
I'd say that she has tried to give and donate her time and status (that is important to charities) while raising five children and battling MS and cancer. No one should sit in judgement of those who are financially fortunate enough to battle those diseases with all they have to give.
Enough said. She is a beautiful lady inside and out and a wonderful mother and wife.
Ben - the award is often given to those who give the most money to the organization.
And please, she has tons of help raising her family. She is nothing special. Many women do what she has done and more - plus work and actually raise their families without maids, nannies, etc.
Anne Romney is nothing special - in any way. And, she is not First Lady material.
Tis easy to be strong when you have $57k a day to back you up. Let's talk about strong when that witch has her Caddy taken away, has to sell her $900 t-shirts on Ebay, has her insurance coverage revoked, loses her 11 mansions, and can't pay her her staff the measly .60 cents per hour she trickles down on them. This woman touts her disability as a sympathetic pity me cause. She is a most disgusting Dorian Grey portrait presented as a worthwhile human. I've met people living in the streets with more class than that piece of garbage.
You really want to say that bob? Took her to the arena myself.
And Ben: big freaking deal. I simply do not care about Annie and her problems.
Cmon Red. Don't hold back. Tell everyone what you really think of Ann Romney who you know soooooo very, very well. Show the world more of who you are so those who may be reading and sitting on the fence (independents) will hold back puke and say -- "i would never support a candidate Red supported if that's the way he talks." It will happen.
My goodness Ben: you handle feedback about Annie pretty poorly. Is it a crush you have on the woman or what?
She has made her illness an issue. The responsibility is hers. There are those of us who deal with REAL issues of disability who wonder what courage Annie would show if she didn't have the cash on hand.
The heroes are the ones who still go to work each day to put food on the table for their families. The ones who need to take time off to rest, but who do not have the PTO that allows for that. The ones desperate for medical insurance who will help them pay for what they need to survive.
And who watch Mitty and Queen Anne, entitled preps both, talk about taking away ACA, signing onto Paul Ryan's budget that would take away Social Security and Medicare support, which they need to survive.
"Hypocrite" is the only word that comes to mind.
Not someone with the kind of resources Queen Anne has, with her laser focus on how it is "her turn" to be in the White House.
No. Not her.
If you truly don't, then a suggestion so you won't look so hypocritical -- don't post about it. TaTa. LMAO!!!
Always the final word from the rwnj's that infect this site.
They can't win. So they go for control.
Ben, Annie offends me to my soul. I will write about her what I wish.
Her lack of empathy for anyone not of her class should offend all right thinking Americans.
Which, of course, leaves you out.
Well Ben - it is good to know that you would have fully supported FDR based solely on his disability; or supported JFK only because of his debilitating back problems; and most importantly, would have run Helen Keller for president because of her blindness. Ya see, the aforementioned had disabilities but achieved greatness in spite of them. Missy Prissy Annie uses her disability to gain a competitive edge. The latter, or I guess more appropriately the Latter Day Saint, is simply disgusting.
Red -- Please. Where did I ever say I "fully supported anyone based solely on his disability????? But I will come to the defense of any one attacking someone because of his/her disability -- even you or NewDay.
NewDay -- Lack of empathy. I guess that list of charities and volunteering above were for only those of great wealth. It's your unjustified hate and jealousy that shows a lack of empathy. Disparaging one who has disabilities only makes you small and invalidates your opinions. Typical liberal response in that you have no logical reason for the way you feel and can back it up then you launch personal attacks. Sad. Pathetic.
Now Mitt & Annie Romney are horsing around like Clowns, these high profit crooks will stop at nothing to make a buck !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Which means I won, Ben, and you can't stand it.
When you can't handle the message; attack the messenger, first sign you have lost, Bennie.
We know who and what Queen Anne is, your crush on her notwithstanding.
And she isn't a pretty picture.
Good to know - I have a zit - and I will count on your vote for president and will be waiting for you to come to my defense.
Ben - NO ONE has attacked Anne Romney because of her disability. We have called her out on her lies about her horse and her whining about her MS - which any number of people have and don't have the fortune to have the maids nannies, etc., that did her work for her.
Get real. Not one of us would EVER attack anyone because of a disability. Okay, I guess we do attack Romney for lacking a brain but I totally believe that is in play!
Obama/Biden 2012
Following the MCCAIN precedent on releasing tax returns? BULL!!!! There is no "McCain Precedent"! This was done long before McCain. Hell, there's a ROMNEY precedent for releasing more than the scraps Romney thinks we're entitled to. His own father released 12 years worth (I think) of tax returns. You can run, but you can't hide!
As Queen Ann stated in a recent interview:
"There are so many things that will be open again for more attack, and you just give more material for more attack, and that's the answer. We've given all you peopleneed to know and understand about our financial situation and about how we live our life," Mrs. Romney said on ABC."
What part of that do you not understand Job1.
The part I do't understand is how amazing that Willard Romney the talking lying buffoon, is the Republican choice for President of the United States.
Job1, You Dems elected a Community Organizer with 2 years of Senate experience !
Obama has contradicted Obama so many times he could be a late-night comedian.
Job1 - because the miserable and totally lacking of integrity Mitt is the BEST the GOP has - pretty pitiful isn't it?
Obama/Biden 2012
Actually, the President was a College Professor, Successful Book Author, State Senator, US Senator and and currently, President of the United States.
As far as Community Organizer, the Community Organizer and Chief was Christ himself!
Job1 - and you forgot attorney. Obama was also an attorney!
Well, it looks like it is now OK for the left leaning group to attack, criticize and insult the wife of a presidential candidate. I urge all right leaning contributors to abstain from this practice. Sometimes, low hanging fruit needs to be left on the tree.
JC - no one would have attacked Anne if she hadn't whined about her illness and done the "poor me" crap. Then she went on camera and made her ignorant comment about "we have given you all the information we're going to" in response to the tax returns. She left herself wide open through her stupidity, arrogance and classless behavior. No one started attacking her until she made her worthless comments.
Please provide an exapmle of where she "Whined" about her illness. Was it when a reporter asked her about it? Did she respond in such a way as to try to raise awareness of the disability?
Ignorant is defined as lacking knowledge. How was her strait forward comment that they are not going to release more tax returns ignorant? Do you think she hasn't talked to her husband about whether he would release more returns?
I guess if she opens her mouth, you would consider any statement she makes as classless. As I said, nice job at attacking the wife of a candidate.
SeekingSanity,
That's right!
jim-1455434
Job1, You Dems elected a Community Organizer with 2 years of Senate experience !
Again, the Community Organizer did a great he organized the country well enough to get him in the White House .
Let's not forgot the Koch Bros paid the T-baggers to adopt his organizational skills for town hall meetings.
Now deal with it.
Obama was elected on the vagueness of "Hope" and "Change". Now reality has set in, Obama has a record of fiscal mismanagement and he is running from it ! His campaign strategy is to constantly attack and belittle his opponent hoping to make Romney appear worse than Obama's dismal record ! Now deal with that.
Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovels, mount your #$%$ and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land."
Nearly 75 years ago, (when Welfare was introduced) Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your #$%$, and light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land."
Today, Congress has stolen your shovel, taxed your #$%$, raised the price of Camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!
I was so depressed last night thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost JObs, Savings, Social Security, Retirement funds, etc. I called a Suicide Hotline. I had to press 1 for English. I was connected to a call center in Pakistan. I told them I was suicidal. They got excited and asked if I have a Back Pack!!.
"YOU DIDNT BUILD THAT!" bumper stickers will be the small business product of the year. It's time we elect a leader who knows who pays the majority of the taxes in this country and treats them with the respect they deserve. It's ok to vote for change in 2012.
"I LIKE TO FIRE PEOPLE!" That ought to make a great bumper sticker. Or
"Corporations are people to, my friend."
1. "Corporations are people, my friend." —Mitt Romney to a heckler at the Iowa State Fair who suggested that taxes should be raised on corporations as part of balancing the budget
2. "I like being able to fire people who provide services to me." —Mitt Romney, using an unfortunate choice of words while advocating for consumer choice in health insurance plans
3. "I'll tell you what, ten-thousand bucks? $10,000 bet?" —Mitt Romney, attempting to make a wager with Rick Perry during a Republican debate to settle a disagreement about health care

All great quotes and all true. It's nice to hear from a candidate like Romney who understands how government and private businesses work. VOTE FOR CHANGE IN 2012!
i'm reading that you believe that there should be an aristocrisy that gets preferential treatment because of their wealth. I'll just say i wholeheartedly disagree, and leave it at that.
And it will be just as successful as the tire gauges of 2008,...

When the concepts are too big for Republicans to understand,...they mock, ridicule and belittle; which wouldn't be so bad, if it didn't make them look so ridiculous.
Much to their peril because in the words of then Candidate Obama, "It's like they take pride in being ignorant!"
Well played, Mr. Obama, well played. Oh, and they DO,...they REALLY, REALLY DO take pride in their ignorance. You can tell by how prolificly they bandy it about.
I wonder if Romney will wear a t-shirt to the London Games with:
Romney to Olympians: 'You didn't get here solely on your own'
I think reminding a mainly non-tax paying group of amateur athletes that someone else built their practice facilities is far different than scolding a tax paying business man that he didnt build his own business. Let's vote for a man who understands the diffrence... VOTE FOR CHANGE IN 2012!
Of course you think there is a difference. The word you are looking for is hypocrite.
Non tax paying amateur athletes? LOL Don't know much about the Olympics do you? Ever heard of the USA "dream team"? How about the olympic hockey teams? (Teams that played in Salt Lake by the way) And i'm sure Michael Phelps has just been splashing around in his parents pool not making any money or paying any taxes. You need to apply for a job with the Romney campaign. You're right on their level. LMAO
Willard Romney Olympics documents aren’t being released for the public to view. Why?
Willard Romney and staff spent nearly $100,000 in state funds to replace computers in his office at the end of his term as governor of Massachusetts in order to keep his records secret. Why?
Willard Romney refuses to release his tax returns. Why?
Why? Because this man Willard Romney is hiding many things, and don't we the people have the right to know what he is hiding.
As Queen Ann stated in a recent interview:
"There are so many things that will be open again for more attack, and you just give more material for more attack, and that's the answer. We've given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation and about how we live our life," Mrs. Romney said on ABC."
Did this dingbat seriously believe there are no attacks in politics?
I'm sick of her 'victim' routine!
I don't suppose the liberal posters here care to mention that Mitt Romney received NO SALARY for running the Olympics.
jim-1455434
I don't suppose the liberal posters here care to mention that Mitt Romney received NO SALARY for running the Olympics.
Perhaps, but the networking possibilities would have proven to be far more lucrative. Stuff like best off-shore banks and behind the public purview investment opportunities. First foot in the door stuff.
Nice spin ... you just proved that a simple statement can and WILL be twisted by liberals for political purposes. Thanks for playing !
Oh yes he did. It's called a "bonus kickback."
Ah, yes. Because we know conservatives never twist anything to suit their political purposes... /end sarcasm
pot, meet kettle.
jim---if I made $57,000 per day and it was taxed at a favorable 15% rate, rather than the 20-35% most people pay on earnings, I would donate my services to any charity that needed it. Especially if the leaders of my church had prevailed upon me to bail out their home city from a crisis other members had created.
You use the word salary loosely Jim. He may not have drawn a SALARY as you put it. But he walked away from the Olympics with millions of dollars in his pockets. Why do you think he destroyed all the records from the 2002 Olympics. Willard is a thief, and a good one at that. He stole from the state of Ma. (sold the hard drives to cover it up), he stole form the 2002 Olympics (destroyed the records to cover it up), he stole form Bain (the investors were part of the outlaw gang stealing so they covered it up for Willard) , all his millions is from ill-gotten-gain. Anybody that thinks Willard is hiding his finances for any other reason than to cover up his stealing is delusional.
Prove it MO ! I think you are talking out your "toothless wonder". It may be that you simply choose to LIE about this. Please show me the convictions that are on his criminal record.
Steeler Fan: "---if I made $57,000 per day and it was taxed at a favorable 15% rate, rather than the 20-35% most people pay on earnings, I would donate my services to any charity that needed it."
During the Brian Williams interview last night, Romney mentioned that as part of his religious background, he and Ann not only donate 10% of their income to the church, they donate 10% of their time to various charitable projects and helping others in the community who are less fortunate. It sounded good at first - but would have been even more effective if he'd been able to provide some specific examples. Strangely enough, in the six years he's been running for president, no one's ever written an article about these endeavors or snapped a picture of him and/or his wife doing any of these good deeds. Okay, so maybe they don't do it for the publicity. But 10% of your time is almost 17 hours a week - and unlike all the other stuff Romney is hiding, I would think this is something he'd be justifiably proud of.
Come on, Governor - everybody's entitled to a phot op or two now and then. So where are yours?
JoAnne,
Pretty sure that 10% is performed while he's sleeping. That refreshes him and helps him come up with novel ideas on how to improve the bottom line,...which is LIKE charity, in his warped world.
"I thought of a little person today,...Charity Abounds!" - Snarky Mitt
How would you know?
In typical Willard fashion, he LOST all the reconds...
Joanne,
I'll play. Let's pretend that a picture of Ann Romney was posted above in one of the "News" articles from MSN. It is a picture of her walking next to a horse with a young rider. The caption states "Ann Romney participates in an equine therapy session."
What would your comment on the picture be?
Job1,
I think if someone running for President of the United States should be completely transparent before we put our trust in them. To not be transparent is very alarming to me. What is he hiding?
@jim-1455434#7.10: How about you proving they aren't? You are a typical republican BS strewer and "songstress" of republican imaginings. Tell us about these republicans you love so well. Tell us why it is right and proper to continually allow ones sh^t to slide down ones right leg. You don't appear to possess the cognitive dexterity of a male monkey fitting himself with a condom.
JC in G-
I can't comment on a picture I've never seen. So let's take some that I have seen. And for the sake of bi-partisanship here, let's take Laura Bush, who seemed very committed to getting kids to read and improving literacy rates in this country. I seem to remember seeing any number of pictures of her reading to kids, and honestly? About all I remember thinking is that she was very soft-spoken and gracious and seemed to be genuinely enjoying it, and would probably be doing the same thing whether the cameras were there or not. And okay, yes, that I liked her as First Lady better than I liked her husband as President.
It might interest you to know that I didn't vote for Jimmy Carter either time he ran - but I can't even count the number of times I've seen him and Rosalynn over the years out there swinging hammers with Habitat for Humanity, and my thoughts have always been that I seemed to admire him as a former President more than I did when he was actually in office. They didn't just talk the talk, they walked the walk, as they say.
But as long as we're "playing" here......when you see pictures of Michelle Obama encouraging kids to exercise and eat better, or the tv ads of her and Jill Biden promoting their Joining Forces organization to help military families, what are your thoughts?
JoAnne - now there you go giving JC credit for being able to "think." I believe you've set the bar far to high for him!
Joanne,
I agree with you in regards to Mrs. Bush as well as what both Carters have done after his presidency. I did vote for Jimmy. That explains why seeking sanity may have pegged my intellect correctly.
As a veteran, I totally support what the first lady and the second lady are doing to support our veterans and service men and women.
I'm a little ticked off that Michelle scrapped the food pyramid, but I guess we can all learn a new shape. She presents herself very well in trying to get kids to be healthier.
I understand that you have a different political belief than I do. We should be able to discuss the differences, possibly change each other's minds, or agree to disagree. I just think that besmirching a candidate's wife for not taking the opportunity to promote her charitable acts is pushing the edge a bit.
Now, try this: Use your imagination; What would your comment be if my above mentioned picture and caption were presented to you?
Mac, You seem to have this "penile" fixation ! Every time you open your mouth ... that seems to be your focus.
Mo made outlandish allegations in #7.9 which he/she/it is apparently unwilling or unable to prove and your silly reply is for me to prove they are not correct ? Is that the best you've got genius ??
JC -
I wasn't "besmirching a candidate's wife". I'm not even questioning that the Romneys have given 10% of their income to charity - I don't know the exact figures, but I've read enough about various checks they've written to accept that. But Romney clearly said in the interview that "we donate" (note: present tense) 10% of our time to charitable work. Again, that comes out to almost 17 hours a week. With all of the media that have been trailing his every move for the last few years, I'd have thought that somewhere along the line, we'd have seen or heard something about it.
As for the comment about your imaginary picture? I imagine I'd have said something to the effect of "I'm glad there are programs like this; that young rider looks really happy to have the opportunity to be up there on that horse. Oh, that's Ann Romney with him? Well, good for her". At worst, I might have wondered aloud "So where's Mitt? I thought he said he did this kind of stuff, too."
I agree that we're probably going to have to agree to disagree on this one, and I thank you for your comments about Michelle and Jill as well as for your service to our country.
However, speaking of besmirching, does this comment ring any bells?
"Sara,
"So, would Trayvon be justified in shooting me?
Yes, he would, even if he didn't know you.
I doubt you are really 130, the chubbiness in your picture makes you look more like 155."
HA HA. I forgot all about my interaction with Sara. I'm sure you looked at her comments too.... I have tried very hard not to get baited into personal attacks on this forum. I find that I defend myself in kind by returning the attack. Not a particulary good response, but I recognize it and have tried to improve. Thank (whatever you pray to) for the ignore function. That reminds me, I need to add seeking sanity. Besides, I don't think I besmirched her, I'm pretty sure I insulted her!
@jim-1455434 #7.20: I'm using penis as an analogy to your very apparent thought apparatus. Keep doing this, and your liable to contract "clap of the mind".
Again, the sexual fixation from a liberal ! Are you a john Edwards supporter ?
@jim-1455434#7.24: I was, until I discovered He too, thought with His penis. You can't admit to having a "hard on" for anyone progressive, or, any reasoning or facts that decries yours? Rough way to behave jim. You'll always be stepping in something causing you to smell bad.
I read the title of the article on the Front page and it said, "Romney steps on to world stage" and I was looking for the rest of sentence and couldn't find it.
I think the title was meant to be, "Romney steps on to world stage only to trip over and over and over again." LMAO !!!
exlax ETCH-A-SKETCH, in foreign countries! He must be there to tell them if he's elected he'll put MORE JOBS OVERSEAS! Mr. Corruption at his best!
Vote 100% STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC and let's rid our selves of these corrupt Republican corporate political puppets ONCE & FOREVER! Their government DOESN'T WORK FOR US, it works for their ONE-PERCENTERS that STEAL from the 99% American People! BELIEVE IT! IT'S TRUE!!!
Let's take it off the cliff and let the Bush tax cuts expire.
Obama is already taking the U.S. off a financial cliff. No thank you !
No, W and the Dick did that.
The difference is Job1 W and Dick took us offthecliff for personal gain. Us Liberals are taking us offthecliff for the good of the country. Go Patty Murray, the majority of the country is behind you.
Tea people Koch republicans = anything for personal gain
Democratic Liberals = anything to help the country
It's up to you America, these are your two chose's. Choose wisely, your future is at stake.
My favorite RWNJ saying is " if you take away the tax breaks of the rich job creators they will leave the country and go elsewhere".
I'll take all of my vacation time to help them pack!!
fuzzy44#8.5: Hope every one of the sons-a-bitches leave. Then, as their "stuff" comes in here to sell to us, we can all steal it. Break them bastards!
Why Romney Avoids the MSM Interviews. Many who listened to the full 17-minute Romney interview with Brian Williams recognize immediately why Romney avoids press interviews other than on FOX. Nearly all FOX viewers are a sure thing no matter what he says, even if what he says makes no sense or contradicts what he said before or even in the same interview.
Body language speaks volumes. Romney was stiff, looked uncomfortable and never lost that demeanor. His mouth was tightly closed as if to say he was there only because someone made him and because NBC is covering the Olympics and he needed to play nice. There was no real smile.
Among many reasonable and a few tough questions, Romney failed to answer any beyond a giant bowl of word salad. Williams asked Romney about the statement he made condemning assault weapons in the hands of ordinary citizens when he signed the Massachusetts assault-weapon ban and if he believes the same statement still applies. Who knows what Romney thinks because he danced around the question as neatly as his $77,000 business deduction Dressage horse performs before finally saying we don't need more gun laws. Or at least I think he said that because when I listened again to the segment, I think he said he agreed that assault weapons should be off limits but we shouldn't ban them..... Huh? Romney also lied again, everything the Colorado shooter had was legally purchased but Romney said the opposite.
When asked about his previous statements in disagreement with the NRA, more word salad. Williams asked if he could state what he didn't agree with the NRA about and he said he couldn't think of anything at the moment, one could almost hear the "I'll get back to ya" coming next. You betcha.
While Mitt Romney speaks with more polish, he is Sarah Palin all over again only in a men's suit. He speaks many words, makes circles of his sentences and still says nothing. In the end those of us who actually listen and think, just as with Palin, wonder what the heck he actually said or what he was talking about because the point or the answer disappeared into a plethora of nonsensical words strung together like Christmas lights.
Lawrence O'Donnell gave a perfect description of Mitt Romney's performance with Brian Williams...."inane, meaningless sentences."
The supporters of Mitt Romney will defend him no matter what, at least on FR and publically, but one has to wonder if they, too, hear "you betcha" and see the leather jacket materialize as Romney speaks.
Note to Mitt Romney: If you want to crack a joke at a question, it is as important not to insult the person asking the question as it is to not insult the cookies offered you at a campaign stop. Journalists will handle the "joke" professionally but they will remember the insult for the next interview....just as much as the Bakery Owner will remember your rudeness.
Do you honestly believe that Williams and the Governor sat down for 17 minutes and that was shown in its entirety???? Do you honestly believe that the Q&A was not edited for time???? If you do, then there is no drought in the midwest.
If anyone is speaking in gibberish, it is the current president.
They don't call it a word salad for nuttin ya know! ☺
Yea i was always confused by the term hope and change. Were we supposed to hope for changes, or the changes were the hope. Still applies today. I am really hoping for a change.
July 1980:
Carter 39%
Regan: 31%
Did you know Jimmy carter conceded that election before the California polls closed..
keep hoping.. its all you got now.
It was a soft ball interview. Rachael or Lawrence would have nailed Willard.
And did you know that California was Reagan's home state, and that Obama will win there, and in all of Willard's home States.
Ben,
Is your argument that the 17 minutes shown was edited to make Romney appear like an ass? Or that Romney only gave 17 minutes worth of 'good' face?
I am unclear. Because from where I sit,...either way - it doesn't matter,...Romney will get his clock completely cleaned in the debates if he can't at least appear more comfortable. The debates are 90 minutes. and there really aren't any 'do overs'.
I wonder if he can sponsor someone to create a life like RomBot to stand in for him? It would HAVE to be better than the 'live' version (he was alive, right?)
You 'Pubbies sure have a dilemma on your hands. Who knew there was someone out there that could make Palin Word Salad look tasty and McCain seem like the warmest, fuzziest guy in the world, by comparison? Can you guys PICK 'EM or what?
So now when Willard makes a fool of himself by not answering questions or by using word salads, the tea people Koch republicans like Ben are going to use the line (and this is really funny) well they edited out the good parts of Willard's interview. Ben, it's Liar Limbaugh and lying Fox that edit someone's statement to try and make it sound like they're saying something their not.
Ben do you honestly believe this? Give an honest answer Ben, it will tell us a lot about you.
Clara -- Glad to see you back. The last post I saw of yours was something to the effect --WTF is wrong with this site? Screw this! LOL. The problems are still here freezing up and not accepting edits.
I respect your opinion on the debates -- I just disagree about the results -- and like you I don't think anything will change my opinion. I only make the 17 minute statement to make a point that that wasn't entirely what was said. Earlier yesterday, the first story on the interview on this site totally misquoted Romney -- so yes there are valid reasons to be suspect.
Left new words of the day "Word Salad" recoined recently by a person who admits being a socialist. I hope that doesn't go on ad nauseum LOL.
@Mo -- I don't worry about what you think of me. My political philosophy is conservative so nothing should surprise you or any one else. I believe in God, country, language, borders and culture. My family and friends throughout this country will be eating their meals on August 1 at Chic-fil-A. There is no need to provide adjectives when describing people unless you have insecurities.
Good grief, that's a stretch even for you, Ben; pretty bad when you have to pull they "edited" the tape to make a bad candidate look worse out of the magic hat. The truth is, Ben, and you know it, Mitt Romney made himself look bad; he didn't need help from NBC's editing staff to do it.
Romney has flip flopped so often that he more resembles a yo-yo; every word Romney utters is a contradiction of his previous utterances. Therefore, he cannot make sensible statements, he must dance and spin and dangle around performing word salad, Sarah Palin, "inane, meaningless sentences" while hoping no one realizes he said nothing.
Jody -- Romney looked presidential, cool, calm and collected -- and in control. I'll be proud to call him President. He is coherent, intelligent and successful. He is a family man with good moral standards. This is what I see. This is what I look for. Good luck in November.
Ben - Romney has NEVER looked presidential in his life, which is okay. He won't be President. He always looks uncomfortable and always lies. He has no moral compass and doesn't really give a damn about anything but himself.
He is a family man but has no moral standards. He cares nothing for anyone but himself and he lives for money - nothing more. He is totally lacking in character and I look for that - as well as many other things - in selecting a President. Romney is lacking in EVERY area!
Obama/Biden 2012
SeekingSanity, Do you ever post any real "substance" or just your usual character assassinations ? Is that all you libbies have to offer ?? Can you tell me about Obama's actual plans for his second term .... other than raising taxes while our country is in a recession ?
It looks like a little bit of presumption and a HUGE amount of ego to go on your world victory tour in advance. Good luck with that...
Let the Willard go to Egypt and we will see how warmly he is received.
Barack Hussein Obama and his $2 billion in promised funding would be more warmly received by the Muslim Brotherhood who now have power there.
London and Egypt, there's an equal comparison. Mitt doesn't have the guts to show up in Egypt, which is a good thing. Hillary can handle it just fine.
But not as bad a the actual $10 billion given them by W. Bush.
Hillary couldn't handle Bill. You have the worst administration ever assembled and you defend them. Your kidding right.
Actually, the worst administration ever assembled was W Bush and the Dick and you defend them. Your kidding right.
Also, you voted for Palin.
rukidding - no one has to defend voting for this administration in 2008 or 2012. Look at the total morons the right have/are running: McCain/Palin (there is no problem with our economy); Romney/whatever schmuck gets stuck with him!
Obama/Biden 2012
The London Media missed Romney getting on a flight to Switzerland. Rumor was that Romney fears that WikiLeaks might release his foreign banking transactions.
Wow ! Another bull$hit article from MSDNC. These guys act like whiny babies because Mitt Romney did not take time to answer their questions. Perhaps, he wanted his attention on meaningful conversations with the leadership of England.
Then, of course, these "writers" supposedly present the news, but you cannot help but notice their contrived "OP-ED" opinions mixed in to contradict Mr. Romney at every possible turn. Mr. Romney is correct, opening up multiple years of his return to liberal journalists devoid of any substantive tax knowledge would be like pouring chum into an ocean of hungry sharks.
MSDNC simply needs to quit the pretense that these silly daily rundowns have any credibility. MSNBC is clearly "in the tank for Obama" and these daily garbage offerings are only intended to run-down Obama's opponent !
Where is Obama's budget ? Where are the shovel-ready jobs ??
Meaningful conversations with the leadership of "England" That's funny...
Actually, there hasn't been an "England" for quite some time.. And thinking willard would have a "meaningful" conversation with them, is even more amusing..
Oh sure, Mitt needs to go play golf with them, huh genius ? We will leave that to Obama.
Where is London ? Is it called London, ENGLAND for a reason ??
Uh, sorry- but you are flat wrong.
London is in England. That's where Romney is today.
Perhaps you are confused and believe that England is no more because of the oft referenced Great Britain. There is, in fact, Great Britain- England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland- but there is, also, a Scotland, a Wales, a Northern Ireland-
And there will always be an England.
I appreciate our FR hosts pointing out Romney's breach of protocol in not allowing questions from the American press corps. Since we can't be present at such events, how else are we to know what went on? This seems to me the kind of mistake a rookie would make and Mitt has been running for President since 2008. Why didn't he know how to handle the situation? Where was his staff?
Perhaps he didn't want to waste his time fencing with the Obama Press Corp (i.e AP, NBC, ABC, CBS etc.) over stupid, ridiculous cover-Obama's a** questions
Is it just me, or do all of Mitt Romney's answers sound like something a beauty pageant contestant would say?
Blah, blah, blah, world peace blah, blah, blah freedom, blah blah blah captialism.
Ah yes... willard will combine two competition areas, and sing "America the Beautiful" in an evening gown..
Should be quite entertaining..
It's just you Nashville. People like you are afraid to LISTEN to other ideas.
As long as we don't have to see Willad in a Speedo... I'm cool! ☺
Come on Willard, sing for us. It be on the greatest hits.
Hey JIM, exactly what other "ideas" were you referring to? A regurgitation of Bush/Cheney policies that sank this economy in the first place or possibly you're referring to Dubya's brilliant international policies which worked out so well for us???
Nashville_fan
I just posted a similar thought on the platitudes about gun violence the NRA programs him to repeat, although I used the robot analogy rather than the beauty pageant contestant. Romney isn't even going to win Miss Congeniality.
Nash----substitute "capitalism" for "world peace" and it is like one of Donald Trump's pageants. Except Mitt will never be "Miss Congeniality" (one of my favorite movies) because he is too thin-skinned. Plus he would think it was his turn to win!
We will let Barack Obama be MS. Congeniality ... finally found where he is NOT inept ! When it comes to financial matters and a balaced budget, Obama is totally clueless.
Jim do enlighten us on Willard's ideas. We all know he doesn't have any ideas, but you sir seem to think he does. So let us in on you and Willard's secret.
Mo - jim cannot enlighten anyone about Mitt. As you've seen today, jim is all over the place trying to defend that which is beyond defense - Mitt. He can't give strong support for Mitt's ideas because, as we know, Mitt has none.
He tries to defend Anne but no one can defend the crass, classless Anne.
He tries to talk about Mitt's stance but since it changes minute by minute, it's hard to keep up.
So, jim tries to deflect onto our President which makes jim look more pitiful with each passing minute!
Obama/Biden 2012 a combination the nation can proudly support
Nashville_fan asks:
YOU BE THE JUDGE:
I'm sorry! That was Miss South Carolina, not Mitt Romney. But it does sound a lot like something Romney would say, without the teleprompters, doesn't it?
Here's a REAL Romney quote:
BTW: The state of MICHIGAN IS SOLIDLY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA! Romney might Michigan, but Michigan like The President!
BTW: The state of MICHIGAN IS SOLIDLY FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA! Romney might BE FROM and LIKE Michigan, but Michigan likes The President better!
Obama "BOUGHT" the voters in Michigan with his bailout of woefully underfunded union pension plans under GM.
I was watching Chris Matthews last night and someone described Romney speaking "off the cuff" as someone - like Palin - who streams words together in what sounds like a sentence but is actually just a "word salad". You initially think he has said something but when you replay it in your mind, you realize that he hasn't really said anything at all. If he is forced to speak off script, he just can't do it. It befuddles him and makes him obviously frustrated and nervous.
Also, I think he looks like a male model who should be modeling yachting outfits in the Hampton s.
Romney only wants to be around people who look and think just like him, and why in the world would he go to london to have a fun raiser when people in this country do not know what he stands for on real important issues? Plus why use the O. games to cover up his real reason for going to london in the first place, which is to get more money and play the suck up role to the english with no real foreign policy?
"then he holds a fundraiser at 1:05 pm"
You have got to be kidding.
There's a man who live the life of danger
To everyone he meets stays stranger
With every move he makes, another chance he takes
Odds are he won't live to see tomorrow
[Chorus]
He's secret Romney man amazin man
Check how he walks, how he talks, how he lays his plan
Secret Romney man advance his game
They give you a number and take away your name
Secret Romney man amazin man
Check how he walks how he talks how he lays the plan

[Verse 4]
Uh secret Romney man
Uh, uh, more bullet proof than a spook set by the door
More legend than 007, more raw
He's a real no-where man, Fooled the folks with "yes we can".Making all his plans to take our country no-where.
Doesn't have a single clue, on how to help me and you. Just the same old leftist point of view.
No-where man please listen. Stop your spending mission. No-where man, can't you see what's wrong with your plan?\
ROMNEY 2012
Dr. Seus says:

Here's a new one I have only posted once before...

Ummm... willard.. you said that you backed the "Ryan Budget".. A budget that cuts funds for retraining programs for the very workers you're targeting here..
willard has some 'splainin' to do..
""“[M]y policies are very different than anything you've seen in the past,” he said, citing 1) expanding domestic energy production, 2) promoting free trade, 3) balancing the budget, 4) creating educational opportunities for workers, and 5) lowering taxes and lessening regulations. But just an FYI: almost all of those prescriptions (energy production, free trade, education, taxes, and regulation) were pursued by the Bush administration."
Romney can't take the political pressure that a release of his tax returns might bring, but is ready for what is probably the most high-pressure job in the world. Is this guy serious?
BTW - the Jersey Girls kicked butt in yesterday's soccer match against France. You show them - tough as nails and big hearts in one package. Congrats!
As I write this, the stock market is up over 100 pts. Looks like when Romney leaves the country,THINGS ARE LOOKING UP. Wish he would make it permanent. Maybe over there he could at least use a speech in CONTEXT instead of editing it to make a completely different speech than what the President said.
MITT ROMNEY ---HE'S WHAT'S WRONG FOR AMERICA
OBAMA /BIDEN ---THEY ARE WHAT'S BEST FOR AMERICA....2012
I think Romney should take a permanent vacation overseas so he can spend more time with his money.
Obama/Biden = Dumb and Dumber. Joe is still trying to dislodge his foot from his last gaffe !
So Obama is shooting straight over Bain? Outsourcing?
I don't understand how people on the left, who were so anti-government and anti-establishment in the 1960's now almost blindly follow Obama, who won't be happy until government has their hands in every aspect of our lives, totally screwing everything up.
MOMINNJ
There are far fewer people blindly following Obama than people who blindly followed Bush into his disastrous Iraq debacle and the policies that enabled the economic collapse of 2007. Obama got us out of Bush's war and prevented Bush's recession from turning into the Bush Depression. Supporting a president who does that is not blindly following.
BTW: As you may have heard, in the 1960s a Democratic president got us into earlier war based on lies just like Bush did decades later. That kind of explains the anti-government sentiments of that earlier era.
We're at the Republican National Convention, and...eeuuwww....
THERE'S A TURD IN THE PUNCH BOWL !
Did Obama crash the Republican National Convention and decide to go for a swim ?
jim - you've stooped to a new low and I didn't think you could get any lower.
Great line John!
SeekingSanity, my comment at #21.2 stands all by itself. Your imagination is what makes it lower. There were no direct references to any other posts.
No other Nation wants to SEE HIM, Because he represents ALL THAT IS WRONG WITH CAPITALISM. He and his KIND (CONGRESS) were the ROOT CAUSE of the MELTDOWN and are now setting up the CAPITAL COMMUNISM REGIME.
And NO SMART INTELLIGENT COUNTRY is going to follow the same ROAD TO FAILURE!
He has only 3 countries that FAVOR Destruction !
And you think the rest of the world LOVES Obama?
Please, he's the biggest joke to ever have been elected Preseident of the United States
MOMINNJ - no that was and forever will be Bush! President Obama is loved by most of the world!
Obama actually said something rational about the problem of guns, despite the political risks. The Romneybot just spewed forth the meaningless platitudes the NRA has programmed him to say. They put the money in the slot in his back, and whatever tune they want him to play comes out of his mouth.
Romney is correct, you cannot legislate what is in the hearts of man.
Obama's answer to everything is more laws and more government.
jim-1455434
Yeah. That's why we need to get rid of all those laws. No matter how many laws are passed against drunk driving, people still drive drunk, so what's the point? You can't change the hearts of man -- or the minds of idiots who swallow Mitt's meaningless platitudes hook line and sinker.
Nice distortion Houston ! No one said ANYTHING about getting rid of existing laws, but there are laws on the books now and criminals have this nasty little habit of IGNORING THE LAW(S) ! That is why they are called "criminals".
You can't change the hearts of man or the minds of idiots who swallow Obama's meaningless platitudes like .... "Hope and Change".
jim-1455434
There's no distortion. Just you're diversion. You and Mitt are carving out a special exemption for gun violence that nobody would give any other kind of social problem even though it's obvious that new laws make sense to restrict the purchase of the kind of 100-round ammunition clip used in the Aurora massacre and the 50-round clip used in the Tucson massacre a year ago.
Why the special treatment? Mitt and the rest of the GOP get the NRA's blood money political donations that they can use for propaganda to convince gullible individuals such as yourself that it's OK for people to buy weapons whose only purpose is mass murder.
Anyone who truly wants to commit murder can find a way to do it. Again, you can pass laws today, tomorrow, Saturday .... even Monday if you like and it will stop nothing if an evil intent is there. Notice, this murderer also booby-trapped his apartment ..... and it wasn't with guns ..... it was something else !
No one is carving out a "Special exemption" for gun violence .... that is merely ANOTHER distortion by you.
jim-1455434
So, laws against murder don't do any good and we should get rid of them?
You most certainly are carving out an exemption. What you are saying is that people should be able to by 100-round clips whose only purpose is to murder large numbers of people quickly. No other product with that SOLE purpose would be allowed on the market. The only reason such weapons of mass murder are legal is because the gun lobby makes a profit and the GOP gets some of that profit in the form of campaign donations. That's what makes those weapons so very "special." It's the money.
Do you really think people should be able to buy such things?
Yes or no????
Houston, You are really becoming quite persistent with the distortions ! Again, reading is FUNDAMENTAL and you apparently flunked basic reading comprehension. Show me where I said we should get rid of existing gun laws ......or we will all know you LIED.
Furthermore, you fantasize when you say that I said people should be able to buy 100 round clips. Please give the reference # and paragraph ...... or (again) we will know you LIED.
It is "Put up" or "Shut up" time Houston. Prove your comments and quit the bull$hit of trying to put words in my mouth.
jim-1455434
If you had any concept of logic, you'd know that your position that no laws are needed banning the use of 100-round clips means that you approve of people being able to buy such things even though they can only be used for mass murder.
I asked you DIRECTLY if you believed people should be able to buy 100-round ammunition clips, and you wormed your way out of answering. You too simple to even answer a simple question like that. You're just another dishonest weasel who has no business accusing other people of lying.
Just for the amusement of seeing jim-1455434 squirm and wriggle, I'll ask him again:
Do you really think people should be able to 100-round ammunition clips that can only be used for mass murder?
Yes or no.
Just for the amusement of seeing Houston TOTALLY FAIL TO ANSWER MY TWO CHALLENGES in #23.7, I challenge you again to Put up or SHUT UP. But of course you absolutely cannot .... pretty much declaring yourself to be a liar.
For some reason, you seem to think I am obligated to answer your asinine question based on an unsubstantiated premise ( " .... that can only be used for mass murder") ...... when you FAILED TO ANSWER MY QUESTION.
Apparently, you fancy yourself a "master debater". Rationalization and inability to prove my alleged prior comments have made you the weasel. Your weak response at #23.8 represents an epic meltdown, and you were so insecure that you had to follow it up at #23.9.
Answer my questions first, and I will give you my opinion on your question. But I honestly don't think you have the guts to do it ! LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jim-1455434
I asked first, moron. And you couldn't answer my question and I already answered yours: The current laws permit people to buy 100-round clips (and other things) whose only purpose is mass murder. You're OK with those laws, just like Romney, and like Romney, you're too much of a dishonest creep to admit it. The main difference between Romney and you is that Romney is getting paid off by the NRA to mouth his nonsense. You (probably) are just the usual wingnut windbag who can't answer a simple yes/no question.
Houston, Apparently "LOGIC" and you are strangers. You desperately keep trying to say that I said things ..... but then you cannot back it up. Then, of course, you resort to the usual name-calling and personal attacks........... because you are a liberal, that's what you liberals do, and you can get by with it on this website.
Gun laws exist today. Creating more gun laws will not stop criminals, because ......duuuuhhh, criminals do not pay attention to laws if their intent is to commit murder.
Now wet yourself again, and see if you can come back with some more venom. You are not bright enough to know what I think and your statement " .... whose only purpose is mass murder" cannot hold water.
Still can't answer huh jim?
My question is, just why is he soliciting funds in a foreign country? Why would any candidate of any party accept any campaign funds from any foreign country? Aren't there enough contributors in this country with the PACs, exploration committees, etc? C'mon man if you want to be president that bad why didn't you and the current President just use some of your own millions to fund you campaign?
"then he holds a fundraiser at 1:05 pm"
You have got to be kidding.
Unbelievable. There is so much wrong with Romney the fact that anyone except a billionaire would even consider voting for him is appalling.
Wow. You guys really don't get your news from any other sources, do you?
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57464129/clooney-to-raise-money-for-obama-in-geneva/
See, there are Americans who live abroad, who can contribute LEGALLY! As well as VOTE legally.
And both campiaigns seek their contributions and their votes.
no joe, no bo, nj
They can legally contribute the money they got ILLEGALLY from the LIBOR scam and other rackets.
FR:
I think the link is pretty direct: The banks steal the money, donate some of it to Romney's super PACs so that Romney can get elected and abolish regulations so they can steal even more money.
I trust the banks over the bloated corrupt federal government any time! Those fat cat bureaucrats steal the money and go on luxury tours under the guise of inservice meeting. Their average salary is $126,000 and they do nothing productive for the country. Leave the money in the banks and private sector. Romney in 2012!
Ever notice how many in Congress - and the White House - came to Washington relatively poor and are now worth millions? And what did they produce to make America great?
Do you know what the LIBOR scandal is about? Do you know how the banksters brought the world economy to the brink of a Great Depression during the incompetent presidency of G.W. Bush?
WTF? A candidate for the office of United States president is 'fund raising' in a foreign country? If anything should disqualify a candidate, this alone should do it. As with Obama's "I'll have more latitude" comment to Putin, what the Hell is Romney promising foreigners to get their money? So Romney has become an international money whore ~ this "foreign policy" claim is just a ruse. Or what if it isn't? If these bankers can conspire to manipulate worldwide interest rates, is it beyond the pale that they can manipulate a man who will sell his soul to get elected ~ and renew the mortgage on that soul to get re-elected? I find this very, very disturbing by a man as intentionally secretive as Romney.
