President Barack Obama remains broadly popular with Hispanics, a key voting bloc in this fall’s election, according to new data from the NBC-Wall Street Journal-Telemundo poll.
The president leads presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney 67 to 23 percent among Latino registered voters, much wider than the six-point margin the president holds among all registered voters nationally.
Hispanics are the fastest-growing group in the country, fueling their increasing political importance, particularly in several swing states. More than one-in-six Americans identify as Hispanic or Latino, according to the U.S. Census, and they are an important pillar of the president’s hopes of winning a second term.

But while Obama continues to lead among Latinos by similar margins to what he won in 2008, there are indications that Latinos’ intensity continues to be lacking.
To measure enthusiasm, the pollsters asked respondents to say how interested they are in this November’s contest, on a scale of one to 10. Adding up the 8s, 9s, and 10s gives a good measure of who the most likely voters will be this fall.
By that measure, just 68 percent of Latinos put themselves in this high-interest category – similar to what they reported last month – off from the average of 79 percent of all respondents in the poll.
One glimmer of hope for the Obama campaign is that the number of Hispanics calling themselves 10s has gone up six points from last month. But even that number is down 10 points from where it was in July 2008.
A big reason Hispanics favor Obama by such a wide margin is a shared philosophy. On every category asked – from looking out for the middle class to dealing with immigration or the economy – Latinos say Obama would be better than Romney by much wider margins than all respondents.
In fact, on handling of the economy, all respondents give President Obama just a 44 percent approval rating. But, among Hispanics, it’s 58 percent. And they think Obama would be better than Romney in dealing with the economy by a 15-point margin. That’s the reverse of all respondents, who say they prefer Romney by six points.
Latinos are also more optimistic about the direction the country is headed. They are almost evenly divided about it with 41 percent saying the country is headed in the right direction and 45 percent saying it’s on the wrong track.
Compare that to all respondents, just 32 percent of whom say the country’s going in the right direction versus 60 percent, who say it’s off on the wrong track.
Romney also continues to have an image problem with Latinos. While the former Massachusetts governor is viewed more negatively than positively with all Americans, it’s even worse with Hispanics – just 22 percent view him positively; 44 percent view him negatively.
By contrast, 64 percent of Hispanics say they have a favorable view of Obama.
NBC News-Wall Street Journal-Telemundo has sponsored two polls since the president’s immigration announcement, which halted the deportation of illegal immigrants younger than 30 and who were brought to the United States as children.
There is no significant movement in support from Hispanics, but that support appears to have solidified. The president’s challenge, however, continues to be turning out these voters in the numbers he will need this November.
POLL NOTES… With the Olympics starting this week, there was an interesting difference that emerged in the poll between Hispanics and all respondents when it comes to Olympic viewing preferences. A plurality of all Americans (29 percent) named gymnastics as their favorite Olympic sport. But nearly 4-in-10 Hispanics (39 percent) say they prefer team sports.
That’s no surprise, considering cultural differences in views relating to soccer -- a.k.a. “fútbol.”
The Hispanic oversample of the NBC-Wall Street Journal poll was conducted by Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart and Republican pollster Bill McInturff from July 18-22. It has a margin of error of +/- 5.7%.

Thank god for that.
Say just what is the latino unemployment rate?
Oh, wait, perhaps that is related to the whole 'intensity continues to be lacking' thing-y.
Why I just bet, after we get the July and Aug. jobs numbers, as well as the rest of the economic indicators, that the intensity will pick right up.
Cause we all know just how totally awesome those numbers are going to be.
The Hispanic oversample of the NBC-Wall Street Journal poll
Hey Domenico, you guys are funny. Are you going to keep running this same story every month until election day?
This is month 3 and counting of the "Oversample" of Hispanics.
Why don't you oversample White folk and see what the results are?
Huh? What's that? It won't give you the headline you need?
Oh, OK.
I second the motion Spanky. Thank god Latinos overwhelmingly support the re-election of President Obama. Good to see you finally on the right side of an issue.
WCA - they are demoralized as hell.
Dominico, Murray, et.al. know what's up. They understand the oversample and the fact that it's only July, the incumbent is trailing, and that the next 8 -10 weeks will be nothing but bad economic news.
It is all they can do to oversample, then fail to report the sample.
Enjoy it, I know I am.
Yep Tom, and so do blacks.
And their unemployment rate is only 14.1%. Unless you count only young black males under 35, then it's over 30%.
Seems perfectly logical that they are all in for O, right?
LMAO!
Straight up devie, and don't forget about single women.
Married women not so much.
But then again, given the overwhelming support of these groups how on earth in Obama only tied?
What a second - are there groups that overwhelmingly go for Romney?
Domenico? You got anything on this?
Another glimmer of hope is the law suits being filed against the states using Voter ID laws as pawn for so- called Voter Fraud.
Ah Oh - here come the righty-tighty-whities claiming the poll is a fraud because they polled left leaning Hispanics.
Meanwhile in other news....
So taken along with the revelations in the new book "Bailout" in which Geithner described the Mortgage Adjustment Program as "Foaming the runway" for the banks.
Can I ask how long do think the President should stand by his Treasury Secretary?
And again I'll ask...Where is the change (from the Bush Administration)?
Spanky you are sick little man.
I am so sick of your wretched innuendos. Why would anybody, not just minorities, want to vote for Mittens?
Unemployment would be @ 5.6 by now had it not been for the
GOPJ0P (Jobs Obstructionist Party)It's so sick for you to cheer these crooks and liars on.
"Hispanics are the fastest-growing group in the country"
Well...duh, obama has kicked the laws in place regarding illegals and immigration to the side. I have no doubt they support obama. He gave them a free pass.
Hey how about the 'other news' that the DOJ just admitted the CIA withheld documents related to the WH leaks from a FOI request?
Sure the WH "Bookered" Feinstein, but Judicial Watch will not back off.
Yikes!
More fun for team blue.
That's easy the stale, pale males, Tea Baggers, the vote for anyone with a (R) following their name on the ballot...
"are there groups that overwhelmingly go for Romney?"
Are you kidding? There aren't even any groups who UNDERwhelmingly go for Romney. It's all about irrationally hating Obama. In case nobody's noticed that yet.....
Brilliant insight as per usual devie.
So the latest polling has Mitt up 47 to 46. You point therefore is 47% of those polled are 'stale, pale, males.'
Interesting.
Oh and look JoAnne has chimed in.
Yep, it's just all about the hate.
Say JoAnne, did you catch the real estate numbers this morning? How about those terrific GDP numbers?
I wonder JoAnne, maybe some while not necessarily hating on Obama, are none too pleased that he has flat out ignore so many of his promises.
Like cutting the deficit in half in his first term. JoAnne, why did he not try to do that in 2009, when he had an overwhelming majority?
Hispanics will continue to support President Obama. They are not so much into self-deportation.
The GOP burned their bridges with minorities during the primaries. I said so then, and the polls now prove my point.
Do any of you yahoo's realize want most Americans want? Healthcare they can count on without going bankrupt if one becomes ill. A job they can count on. Taxes they can afford to pay. An equal playing field. Being safe from people that can be 100's of rounds of ammo. Bascially, simplicity of life. And people being decent and respectful to each other - ya know a community.
Spanky
Sure the WH "Bookered" Feinstein, but Judicial Watch will not back off.
Judicial Watch??
Spanky,
You're sicker than I thought. Judicial Watch is a right wing scheme cooked up by ALEC & the Koch bros.
Get serious.
Spanky, insightful to say the least. I've read several articles as of late that the polling companies are using democrat over-counts. Why would they do this? You can't tell me that the so called popular polling companies are fair and balanced. They have to over count democrats in order to boost Obama's numbers. Liberals eat those numbers up like they actually mean something. All polling companies should be forced to signify what percentage of republican, democrat and independent they polled and not just the sample size.
From what I can tell, the liberal polling companies are doing their level best to try to discourage conservative and Romney leaning voters to not vote in November. Fat chance in Hell that will occur.
Bubblegum. What flavor?
Hey Spanky, not only Demoralized, but delusionsal. I kind of like the fact that NBC puts out polls showing numbers like this. Let the Libs keep whistling past the graveyard.
But man oh man, when reality hits in November there is going to be one hell of a let down for the Blue squad.
Bev-Another glimmer of hope is the law suits being filed
Keep hanging on to those glimmers of hope Beverly. When the economic numbers start pouring out over the next 3 months, lawsuits and hope is just about all the left will have.
Phancy - You are right... that's what most Americans want, but can you truly say that Obama has provided these things? He has fallen short in all aspects of your list. Many people do not understand what the ACA is all about... In short, it is a mandate that all Americans own health insurance or the government can penalize you in the form of fines and higher taxes. How is that going to help people that can't afford health insurance? 57% of Americans want the ACA repealed.
As usual, Spanky just lies. He knows President Obama would have come through on most of his promises if the GOP had not obstructed everything he tried to do - and is still obstructing. After all, it's "to hell with the country as long as we win" Republicans we should all go after. And, come November, we will.
Spanky, your thoughts are about worth - ah, nothing. I do remember you knew sooooo much more than everyone about how the Supreme Court was going to strike down the Healthcare bill. How'd that work out for ya?
Yep, and that's about how valuable your opinions and "knowledge" are - nada, zilch, zero!
Obama/Biden 2012
Phine - thanks, I appreciate your request, but I have a strict 'no friend' policy when it comes to all social media. I have seen first hand, through litigation, the damage that can be done by one idiot to a business on the internet.
WCA - delusional was AXE this morning - people believe Obama's campaign is the most negative by a 2-1 margin.
Axe's brilliant response? IT's cause of the Romney ads.
Huh?
Why would a legal immigrant, one who has the right to vote, self-deport? Who called upon legal immigrants to self-deport? Are these the same average Americans who are paying 35% in income tax?
Seeking Sanity - Huh?
As you recall I said the Mandate was unconsitutional as an extension of the Commerce Clause. Which it was found to be.
As for it being a tax, yep, I wrongly relied and believed Obama. He said about 10 times that it was absolutely not a tax.
Yep, my bad, I relied on O.
SO Sanity - what exactly did the GOP block in 2009? 2010?
Shoot Sanity, they couldn't even block Obamacare. SO Sanity he had the votes for that POS, why not cut the deficit during those two long years?
Sanity?
Gosh Alan - it's almost like these guys are not actually talking about legal immigrants.
I wonder why that is?
BB
Problem is neither party offers the American people with what they want. Everything worldwide is too scewed.
Phancy - The parties have become more polarized. This is what happens when those of an extremist view take control of the party. Somewhere in the mix they lose the fact that they are Americans. That's the reason I changed my affiliation to independent several years ago. Like you, I can point out plenty of negatives in both parties.
Who is to blame? I say ignorant people that continually vote for the same types of politicians without researching the politician first... and then there are people that will vote for only those in their party.
I think this country would be better served if we lost the 2 party system. Let every politician fend for themselves if they want to get elected. I think you would see a whole different make up in Washington if there were no democrats or republicans.
Latinos and Blacks lead the country in unemployment rate. Both groups are going down the tube under this president's leadership along with everybody else of course, only moreso than everybody else.
Latinos pick fruit and give low bids for roofing jobs. Thank God for those things.
The GOP has a real problem. They are alienating any possible new voters, sticking with old white men (and women). If they really want to remain a viable political party, they need to loosen up and become the "Big Tent" that St. Ronnie talked about.
"Hey how about the 'other news' that the DOJ just admitted the CIA withheld documents related to the WH leaks from a FOI request?"
Now Spanky you know the spin machine is working overtime on this one. I am leaning toward the "someone else's fault" line, but there is always obama's old faithful "it was like that". Maybe they have guys in a back room with a coke bottle on the floor with the excuses fanned out in a circle. Spin the bottle and see what the excuse is this time.
I believe FOX News runs that poll.
Gallop/NBC poll says that democrat enthusiasm is down compared to 2008. Republican enthusiasm is up. It says democrat enthusiasm is down to 38%.
Lets see how the voting results come out with that sort of voting enthusiasm from the democrats.
Brianb-999431
yet you are pro-Romney who:
will not talk about Bain so his 3 unaccounted years don't come up
won't talk about the Olympics so his tax bailouts and missing/deleted hard drives don't come up
will not talk about Mass so his record and missing/deleted hard drives don't come up
will not talk about his tax returns so his offshore accounts and tax rates don't come up
Tell me Brianb, how did you research Romney?
So, Latinos are smarter than GOP white folks! I just am not shocked.
Maybe it's just me ... but when we are borrowing $4 billion a day from China ... we are up to our eyeballs in economic doo-doo .... why is Obama promoting food stamps and food stamp enrollment in MEXICO?
Wonder if that is in the nation's best interest, the interest of our kiddos .... couldn't have anything to do with pandering to when an election, huh?
Something tells me that even the democrats realize Obama isn't what he claimed to be in 2008 and are starting to actually believe it. Better late than never. Only those on this board are so completely obstinate as to believe Obama has a chance. It's the economy liberals... never forget that.
Why has Obama released a new ad saying that those owning their own businesses did make that happen if he didn't realize what he said last week was completely wrong. I don't think this will cover up his Marxist thoughts.
baylieee - Who said I am voting for Romney? You can be assured I won't vote for Obama, I've done plenty of research on him. We don't even know if Romney will get the republican nomination yet because the convention has not occurred. You can make up a bunch of questions about Romney all you like. I can do the same thing about Obama and I KNOW you are voting for him. You couldn't answer any of the questions without any sort of spin or excuses if I were to pose a list to you.
this is funny, cause I am Mexican and voted for Obama " won't this year " there are a lot of Hispanics not happy with Obama, at least 15 people that I know that voted for Obama won't this year.
MSNBC is becoming Comedy Central part 2 there no longer a credible news source. " and I don't watch Fox news so don't even go there"
They might support him but can they legally vote for him. Doesn't matter Holder is taking care of that if you don't have to show ID at the polls you don't have to prove you can legally vote. That is the Chicago way dead or alive, legally or illegally!
yet you are pro-Romney who:
Bayllie's comments followed by mine:
will not talk about Bain so his 3 unaccounted years don't come up
Why should he talk about Bain? He's not running on Bain, he's running on his business experience and his positive growth record.
won't talk about the Olympics so his tax bailouts and missing/deleted hard drives don't come up
Why should he talk about these things? Just because you want him to? This is such a minor item so why don't you blame him for throwing a piece of paper on the sidewalk?
will not talk about Mass so his record and missing/deleted hard drives don't come up
Again, why should he talk about these things? Why doesn't some reporter ask him the question... probably because the question would appear very very foolish.
will not talk about his tax returns so his offshore accounts and tax rates don't come up
Why should he produce more than 2 years of his tax records just because the liberals want him to? I actually enjoy the fact that he keeps you asking for them. When he does produce them, it will be to slap you in the face because I believe there is nothing wrong with them at all... you are just speculating because you are fantasizing he's done something evil.
Tell me Brianb, how did you research Romney? I actually listen.
Tell me bayllie, how did you research Obama in 2008? Did you actually question his affiliations, or did you dismiss them as right wing propaganda? Did you ever question what OBAMA meant when he said hope and change since he never defined it in his terms. Did you ever question his meaning of fundamental change? How about it bayllie?
Brianb-999431
and isn't Bain his only private sector experience? When you write your resume, you don't include the name of the company you worked for?????
NOw, I am not disputing that he has a positive record as well but what Romney is trying to do is hide all the negative decision he and his company made especially during the 3 years that he claims he wasn't there.
It's not my fault that Romney cannot convince people that off-shoring, outsourcing, and making money from the failure of companies like Ampad is just business - a mean to make money.
yes because Romney claims that he was the turn-around executive in charge of the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002!!!!!!!!!!
Romney just forgot to mention that he did it by milking the system!!!!!
WTF is wrong with you? His tenure as the governor - the CEO of a state - is not relevant?????
he doesn't have to by law but combined with all the other convienient gaps in his career should make you wonder why is this guy hiding every decision he has ever made. EVERY JOB this guy has held is covered up by missing hard drives, paperwork, etc.
good for you but you raised the question about doing a research about your candidate BEFORE you vote for him, yet you cannot answer ONE question about this guy. And now you are flip-flopping to "why should Romney answer anything."
I'm not speculating anything. I am just pointing out how YOU point fingers at others while you are guilty of it yourself.
I could take Romney not releasing the tax returns - that is his right. But when one person hides EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING it makes me wonder. Why is this guy hiding so much?
And I am not speculating - I had the "pleasure" of having Romney as my governor. And guess what, Mass did better befoe Romney and Mass did better after Romney. Mass just didn't do that well because of Romney.
listen to what: Romney's "I'll get back to you on that?"
Brianb, so you cannot provide one shred of evidence about Romney's governorship, Romney's Bain, and Romney's Olympics short-term and long-term decisions so you question me on Obama's meaning of fundamental change? If you want any credibility, at least ask about Obama's platform and not some abstract concept.
again brianb, how do you research Romney? you haven't answered that at all.
Brianb-999431
so if you are not voting for Obama or not voting at all -YOU ARE VOTING FOR ROMNEY
Devie - What a second - are there groups that overwhelmingly go for Romney?
The answer is yes. Those are the people that earn there keep and want to keep what they earn. With over 200,000 unfilled positions in the trucking industry alone (just for the sake of argument) what does that mean. It means that alot of the people that don't have jobs don't really want jobs. It's not about anything other then if someone want's to support themselves and families or have someone else do it for them. The simple fact is that there are far more jobs out there but nobody actually wants to do the work. But people like me that are tired of holding up the leeches of society with our sweat and time are going to vote against someone that want's to make everybody dependent on our failing government.
with Owebama's attack on the Catholic Church, bad economy, and increased centralization, we are pendejos for siding with Owebama. Vive Hispanos Indepiendentes.
Hah! I think soccer is the only sport Mexico has. Other than bullfighting.
Divide and conquer is still a legitimate political tactic.
Change? Nope. Politics as usual in DC. No hope.
im sure the legal latinos who did are the right things to come here legally are just overjoyed with obama. i dont think so. not the ones i know!
You know, George W. Bush and Karl Rove thought they could create a loyal, Republican-voting majority of Latino voters out of illegal Mexicans. They wrote the laws that allow people to get home loans without being legal American citizens. The 2003 legislation that did this was HR 1250 - the American Dream Act. Look it up: this was legislation pushed by George W. Bush, sponsored by a Republican, co-sponsored only by other Republicans and passed by Republican majorities in the House and Senate. It established the ITIN where banks accept the Individual Tax Identification Number ( ITIN ) from the people friendly Internal Revenue Service, in lieu of a Social Security card for which illegal aliens do not qualify.
They further compounded the error by promoting low-downpayment, easy-pay ARM loans (at least until they ballooned). But they reckoned not the cost of their own legislation: when the illegals want to default on the loan, they just walk away and get a new ITIN number with a minimum down payment and closing costs.
Thus was born the entire housing boom. In the end, it crashed the American economy.
"There is no significant movement in support from Hispanics, but that support appears to have solidified."
So Obama's 'legalizing' close to a million illegal Hispanics has not helped his numbers with Hispanics, but has pretty much ticked off legal American workers, including many Democrats.
Perhaps it was not such a good political move after all.
PS - I wonder how many of those young Hispanics have registered for Obama's program to work legally? I suspect few to none, since it can be cancelled in January when Romney takes office, and all it will do is tell ICE who the illegal immigrants are, including their names, ages, Country of origin, where they live now, etc. - all of the information needed to find and deport them.
In pandering to the Hispanics for votes, Obama may have done them a great disservice.
Roy, Pres. Obama's party represents more of the minority constituants in the U.S., than the Repuglicans. Do you have a problem with that? All politicians "pander" to the voters, get real about your accusations, they go both ways in politics.....care to discuss Pres. Bush's policy's and voting record?
Stop dummying us down to your level. You are calling others stupid.
Posted in todays Chicago Tribune, "Mitt the Twitt, Wanabe U.S. President Romney in Games insult, but David Cameron insists: We'll show you" The Sun blared on Friday morning. The Daily Mail had this "Who invited party pooper Romney?" David Cameron is the Prime Minister of England and head of the conservative English political party. That's the foreign policy of the Repugs, "our way, or no way", stupid thinking that has troubled us for years. Corporate lead politics that deny the Constitution.
And than we have Pres. Obama signing a measure to strengthen U.S. security ties with Isreal, including enhanced cooperation on missile defense and intelligence sharing, as well as for increased Israeli access to advanced weapons.. Pres. Obama's quote "I hope that, as I sign this bill, once again everybody understands how committed all of us- Republicans and Democrats- as Americans to our friends in making sure that Isreali is save and secure". Perhaps we should have just sold them the arms like Reagan did to the Contra's, than deny it, like all Repuglicans do for 30 years.
78% or Jewish voters voted for Pres. Obama in 2008, so Roy would say "he is pandering to them, and it might be a disservice". I dislike political hacks...
Hmmmmm . . . . Can't wait for Concern's comments on this one.
From everything I've read this morning, Romney continues to have an image problem with anyone that isn't rich, white, and male.
PUHLEEZE don't encourage Blatina! ;o)
They haven't come to terms yet with the FACT they will soon be the minority in this country!
Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch!
No doubt, some generous insight from her nephew attending East Los Angeles Rave-Parties!!
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL.
They haven't come to terms yet with the FACT they will soon be the minority in this country!
I'd say these reptilian rich ole, pale males will become like the Whig Party; extinct and non-existent.
Lean forward

Obama/Biden 2012
Definition #2 seems to fit Willard perfectly!.........Heck even during the primaries he was constantly referred to by the other contenders to 'have no core'!
Guess having no core doesn't matter.....as long as he has the 'digits' to sign legislation that's put in front of him.....according to Grover!
Layton, good one. As usual, Concern will address her remark to Feisty.
Chilled, yes, #2 fits perfectly. Remember Mitt Romney describing his niece whose military husband was shipped overseas immediately after buying their first house but before the yard could be landscaped--required to be done within a year of purchase--and the neighbors all contributed money and did the work. Romney was moved to tears when describing it but not moved enough to simply give the niece a couple thousand to have some basic landscaping done herself. If Romney really honored military service, he should have been the first one to help.
Before the attacks come, please note: I applaud the neighbors for helping and the niece's husband for his service but I do not applaud Mitt Romney who makes $57K per day for letting neighbors do what he could and should have done.
Duro Mami. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGKrc3A6HHM&feature=related
As a Rich White Male...Romney STILL has an image problem.
My issue with Romney is "He and those like him are the Problem"
I don't know what the Hispanic unemployment rate is, but I was shocked to learn yesterday New Jersey's is even higher than Maine's, and we have the highest rate in New England! What is it with these Republican governors and their inability to create jobs. Our governor's business strategy was to legalize casinos, and the sale of fireworks, so Mainer's can burn up what little money we have.
Oh Amy, so precious.
Hey, I was wondering if you could compare and contrast Maine and NJ's rates with, oh, I don't know, say Cali, Ill and NY?
Or how about with Ohio, Wisc., Iowa, or best of all North Dakota.
See it's all those green energy shoots coming home to roost in ND.
And shoot Amy - I like gambling and fireworks. Why don't you?
Or more to the point why do you presume to tell others what they can, and cannot do with their money?
Perhaps a tad more focus on your own, and less on others might help out your difficult financial situation?
FYI, in Florida they wanted casinos at the cruise ports. Disney, nixed that. They want to keep the state "family friendly" Disney cruise ships have no gambling on them.
Perhaps a tad more focus on your own, and less on others
Ain't that the Republican philosophy in a nutshell.
Good for Disney. Iowa has casinos. At first they had to be gambling boats--and those were actually fun because they were required to leave the dock and cruise so many hours per day; usually the cruise was a lunch or dinner included. Not being a gambler beyond $20, the ride on the river was always fun. That became too inconvenient for the casino owners. Now we're stuck with huge casinos about every 40 miles in some places. Every year, the Casino pushers want to add more.
Spanky,
stuck on asking questions instead of supplying any answers? This is not a court room. Try to be a little more giving. Illuminate us. Start with, I don't know, maybe the fallacy of global warming. Or, perhaps how Obama has personally failed your industry seeing that you do not have any clients that need due diligence today.
blackcatwhitecat -it's all Spanky has! And, I'm pretty sure his court reporting is over for the day.
this headline is no surprise. He just gave them a huge go pass a few weeks ago. This is always funny stuff. The libs are all over this. No wonder they don't want voter ID.
The latin population prefers Obama because they are more team oriented and understand the value of working together to accomplish something. They likely view Romney as selfish.
Wonder who Asians prefer?
Got that one for you, too, phine:
"Obama was strongest among Indian-American voters, leading Romney by 76 percent to 8 percent in the poll, and weakest among Filipino Americans, where the breakdown was 57 percent to 20 percent. Among Chinese Americans, it was 68 percent for Obama, 8 percent for Romney."
"You don't hear as much about the Asian-American vote as you do about the Hispanic vote, but Asian-Americans make up a similarly fast-growing segment of the population. According to the census, both groups grew by 43 percent between 2000 and 2010. Like Hispanics, Asian-Americans also have become more strongly identified with the Democratic Party in recent years, a demographic trend that poses problems for Republicans if it continues.
Asian Americans' participation in politics is increasing as well. In 2008, about 48 percent of eligible Asian-Americans voted, compared with 44 percent in 2004, according to Mermin. That means that their share of the vote -- 2 percent in 2008 -- is likely to increase in 2012.
In swing states such as Florida, Nevada, and Virginia, the Asian-American vote could prove decisive. The poll oversampled voters in those states and found a closer race than nationally: In Nevada, it was Obama 54 percent, Romney 29 percent; in Florida, it was 57 percent to 29 percent; and in Virginia, 57 percent to 20 percent.
In 2008, Obama won Asian-Americans with 62 percent to John McCain's 35 percent, according to exit polls. (By contrast, Latino voters, who made up 9 percent of the national electorate, went for Obama 67 percent to 31 percent in 2008.)"

PS - {{{ Hugs }}} right back at you!
JoAnne
You rock today.
Layton-3733410.
Hi Layton. Is good to know that you know how to Hmmmmmmmm. Can you brake down to me the Latino vote by Country of Origin, IE Mexico, Cuba etc. Ane yes, what state do they reside in the US, and of course, they must be a Citizen?
How can someone like Romney (as you descrive) have so much issues and be so close to the all mighty President OBAMA? Please tell how?
But only after I come back from lunch. Did you get your orders yet?
Hey Concern, Seems like you can totally relate to the Romney's . . .
I am just so laughing here!!!! Let me just jump right on that for you!!! OMH! Go take your meds and enjoy your trip to Fantasyland!
"But only after I come back from lunch. Did you get your orders yet?"
Layton's taking lunch orders? Awesome! I'll take a tuna and provolone hoagie - no peppers - and a large unsweetened iced tea with lemon. Thanks, Layton - my turn tomorrow!
I almost braked my back lauphing so heard over so much issues like descrived by Romeny. Why, it was so phunny me almost tossed me salad up for lunch. I don't know how i'm gunna splain this to my slupervizor.
"The latin population prefers Obama because they are more team oriented and understand the value of working together to accomplish something. They likely view Romney as selfish."
If by "team oriented" you mean obama ignoring the laws regarding immigration (those pesky little rules put in place years ago by people much smarter than him) and illegals in this country then you are probably right.
RedDevPS - - - I am STILL Laughing!!!!
Concern Citizen to answer your questions about registered Latino citizens. Not surprised by the Telemundo poll others have shown the same wide advantage.

Obama widens lead among Latinos and Latino independents, says new poll
by Sandra Lilley
11:44 am on 07/18/2012
President Barack Obama has widened his lead among Latino registered voters, especially after his new policy directive toward “Dreamers,” according to a new Latino Decisions national poll commissioned by the progressive Center for American Progress Action Fund, and the immigration reform advocacy group America’s Voice.
Among U.S.-born Latinos, Obama leads Romney 69 percent to 25 percent. Among foreign-born, naturalized citizens, Obama leads 72 percent to 19 percent. Among English-dominant Hispanics, voters prefer Obama to Romney 66 percent to 28 percent, and among Spanish-dominant Latinos, the numbers are even higher for Obama, at 76 percent to 15 percent. In 13 “battleground” states, including Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, and North Carolina, 71 percent of Hispanic voters lean heavily toward Obama.
The national poll interviewed over 500 Latino registered voters across 50 states, using fully bilingual pollsters.
Two findings are of concern for Mitt Romney, according to the poll’s authors. Sixty percent of Latino independents, which are usually the “swing voters,” say they plan to vote for Obama. Moreover, thirteen percent of self-identified Latino Republicans say they will cross over and vote for Obama. In contrast, only two percent of Latino Democrats said they would cross over and vote for Romney.
Now Layton, I only made one little mistake. English is, after all, my 36th language. As repeatedly pointed out by our local blatino, if you are laughing, you must be a racist.
Yellowdog - now you've gone and done it - Concern can't handle actual facts - it makes her head spin and she doesn't have the GOP talking points to regurgitate.
Great post by the way!
Obama/Biden 2012
Agreed, Yellowdog, great post and thank you for answering it's question. I was too blown away by my "orders!"
I have some lovely green jello I am willing to share. Just sent Hubby out for a taco salad. Need food with some flavor!!!!!!
phine -
Thanks, but no thanks. When I was in college, we did a highly scientific study one night after a prolonged argument as to the relative consistency of the various colors of jello offered in the dining hall and which was the least edible. We each pocketed a couple of cubes of our least preferred color and went outside and threw them against the wall until they dissolved completely. I can report that my "choice" - the green ones - lasted long after everyone else's had vaporized.
I'd have thought most hospitals had long since declared them a weapon of mass destruction and took them off the menu. I would absolutely go with the taco salad!
phinephancy - last time I was in the hospital it made me swear off jello and clear broth for life. So sorry but I'll bet the hubby brings you back something wonderful!
From the article:
"President Barack Obama remains broadly popular with Hispanics"
Could this be from all the welfare ads he is running on hispanic radio & tv???
Welfare for everyone, free healthcare, blah blah blah...
This is nothing more than buying votes through the use of federal programs!!
-at the expense of American Taxpayers
Maxx Power
Could this be from all the welfare ads he is running on hispanic radio & tv?
Look Maxx,
Hispanics see a lot just by virtue of being bi-lingual. Yes, they do see all those Welfare ADS. Only they are not from the Obama campaign.
It's Romeny's son running ads in Spanish for his Vulture Capitalist dad.
"Could this be from all the welfare ads he is running on hispanic radio & tv???
Welfare for everyone, free healthcare, blah blah blah..."
Welfare for everyone.
JoAnne - This is fun. I've never heard anything like that. Which state do you live and which television and radio broadcasts are transmitting that?
Theotas - I think you should change the radio station. Those AM dials are full of Rush Limbaugh types. No wonder you hear a lot of ads out in Cali. Also you really should get out during the weekends, turn off the radio and enjoy the outdoors :}
Aye Carumba...
This is cool. I get to brush up on my Spanish while reading political dialogue. And without the use of Google translate, I understood what JoAnne and totas were saying.
Hmmm...and I thought the only thing I would remember from high-school Spanish was the teacher looking at me and saying, "CHICLE EN LA CESTA!!" ;-)
Newsflash - Caucasians are the largest group of welfare recipients, at the expense of American Taxpayers.
RedDev - you can't argue with idiots like GermanGem and Maxx. They've bought into the lies fed them by the far right because they don't have the intelligence to actually digest real facts. It's pretty pathetic but these make up the base of the GOP. Explains why Romney is so revered by this group - their standards are pretty damned low!
Obama/Biden 2012
I would like to see one person prove to me the Debt is NOT climbing as we post. No excuses, No blaming, No name calling, No bs just prove it if you can.
Yellowdog,
Actually I do get out. Saturdays I go kayaking, its a little bit of a drive so I listen to Handle on the Law, and that's where I get an ear full of these commercials.
FYI, I don't like Rush, he give me a headache.
How to make Rush Limbaugh Disappear? Rub liberally with Preparation H
Theotas - Kayaking, cool!
Last time I was in California took the family up to Sequoia and Yosemite. We white water rafted the Tolummne (spelling) river. Some portions of it were class 4. I had a blast but not as much as my son who
fellchose to jump out at a couple of the rapids.Married people should not kayak or canoe together. Leads to huge arguments.
thetotas -
¿Pero, realmente dicen "welfare y atención médica gratuita para todos"? Es muy difícil de creer que es verdad.
And with that, I quit - I majored in Spanish in college, but that was a loooong time ago.
phinephancy,
it can be persuasively argued that married people should not even have children together.
$586 Million at the expense of the taxpayers. That is the estimated cost of Obama's mini-amnesty green card program. Perfect. Not only do we support them now, we get to pay them to be able to continue to support them.
Romney will never win the Hispanic/Latino vote.
After all, he's no George Bush. I'm chuckling as I write this.
That sounds like fun, and with family there is nothing better.
Anything that involves water you can count me in. I have a Hobie Adventure, with a pedaling system, its pretty fast. I get out in the early morning, when the water looks like glass, and glide.
Married people should not kayak or canoe together. Leads to huge arguments.
I saw a man and woman on the Saco River in a canoe that was spinning round and round as they argued furiously- you couldn't help but laugh at the sight, although I'm sure it wasn't fun for them!
Oh, now that is rich!
George W. Bush and Karl Rove did everything they could to buy illegal Latino votes.
George W.
Romney could win if the Hispanic/Latino vote does not come across as is trumpeted. Will Latinos/ Hispanics be lazy and allow Romney to win the presidency? Maybe. The Democratic organizations across America are waiting too long to get their act together. This cannot get done over night and state and local leadership is just waiting around. Given all the negative brown-beating during the TEA-Republican nomination process, one would hope the Democratic powers would begin working harder for the biggest turnout possible. That would indeed ruin any possibility of TEA-Republican Senate or House gains. It's at the ground level where the most power is concentrated and that's where the TEA party gained so much so quickly. The battleground states of Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylania, Virginia and Wisconsin could turn with any failure of Democratic turnout. Remind the voters of the actions of the TEA party alone and they will surely come to their senses. First, the concentration of wealth in fewer and fewer people and concentration of power in less generous, more controlling hands. It is at the local level where the greatest control is exerted. Then remind the Hispanics/Latino voters of TEA party extremist like the governor and legislature of Arizona who stepped across the line on immigrant legislation issues. Throw in Sheriff Arpaio's name and that should get their attention.
..
I just have 5 minutes left for lunch because Layton screw up on the lunch order for everone.
It is pronounced "Hay caramba", you probably did not go to school that day.
In case you want to know where they are showing Spanish Soaps that teach you how to get government help, tune in to Chanel 23, 29, and 51 to name a few.
Thank you Thetotas, good avatar.
Seeking Insanity, no bones for you today either.
RedDevs (no cigar yet) hope you laugh your tail off.
Beisty Red hair whatever, keep getting the Independents and Latinos mad by the racist remarks that you make (specially about my autistic son).
And last but not least, I'm hear to stay. I don't know if you are just kids in College or GRUMPY old fat farts, or just comemierdas. lol. So keep it coming. November is just around the corner..
D'oh...good catch concerned. I think I've been watching the Simpsons a bit too often and letting Bart's catchphrase (and associated misspelling) rub off on me. My bad! Have a good one! :-)
Frank "Grimey" Grimes, Springfield, USA
Frank, I hate the Simpsons, I did not even let my kids look at that program when they were younger. Glad to have been of some help with your Spanish.
I'm voting for Romney 2012.
In case you want to know where they are showing Spanish Soaps that teach you how to get government help, tune in to Chanel 23,
Concern - My wife is watching - El que no podia amar. On occasion I watch for the um, the storyline. Yeah, I watch for the storyline. Is it hot in here?
edit - On a serious note didn't see your whole post. Everyone, should lay off Concern's son - should be off limits.
Concerned...
I kinda grew up on the Simpsons. But, it is definitely not for everyone. :-)
I'll take any help I can get when it comes to Spanish. I have a lot of friends from Cuba and South America (particularly Peru) and I occasionally practice Spanish with them.
Have a great day! Keep posting! :-)
Yellowdog...LOL...nice!
Yellowdog, I totally agree with the kids off-limits thing and I will state that I have NEVER seen Feisty comment on Concern's son EVER nor is she (Feisty) racist. Concern however brings these types of comments up almost daily. Why, I've NO clue. I've suggested numerous times to her in the past to leave her children out of her posts to avoid comments from anyone regarding her family.
Just my $.02
To set the record straight, no one has ever commented on Concerned's son, except for Concerned. These blatant lying accusations are the sole reason ridicule is lobbed back to Concerned's court.
Thanks to those who agree on my sons being off limit. To those that think I'm making it up, here is the Post. I have mentioned it before, I used to be a Democrat and then registered Independent do to the way that some Liberals like to have fun at other people expense. Yes there are some on the right too, but it has been my experience that they are most from the extreme left.
Below you see a response form Beisty about my sons on a post where I said I have left them with my sister in Miami. Jody, you told me once that feisty was your friend, I hope that you really see what she is made of.
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
Concern, well, now you bring me into this discussion? For what? Yes, Feisty is my friend as are many other FR posters. She is not a racist. I suggest you look at your own posts before complaining about others doing exactly what you do. I would also suggest you take a look in the archives at the right-wing comments directed at Feisty; you'll find some where you encouraged them.
Jody - there will be tons where Concerned encouraged them and stood in the gutter when she did!
Jody, I see you did not mentioned anything about my sons, specially the one with autism. However if you look at her post, you can see where her feistyness got into my family. I disagree with you that she is not racist but them again that is my opinion. She certainly has no respect for other people that don't even post here..
I guess you did not read my post entirely.
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
Can't wait for Concern's comments on this one.
PUHLEEZE don't encourage Blatina! ;o)
rich, white, and male.
They haven't come to terms yet with the FACT they will soon be the minority in this country!
Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch!
So Jody, the above paste of one of Feisty's comments isn't racist? If I was to say that blacks in Chicago will remain a minority as long as they keep killing each other and it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch; would you say that's racist?
hay Hispanos contra Obama porque el es contra Catolico y mal Presidente.
Ah, yes. All the ESL three time voters. There are no illegal aliens, only unregistered democrats.
Dead People Vote Too.
I will not vote if I am dead. Promise.
roc1960
So do stupid people and they seem to do far more damage. I am all for the dead voting. They no longer have a vested interest.
blackcat ...
PURRFECT!
blackcat - well said!!!!!
Phine, you made me laugh out loud. You must be feeling better!
if the dead have no vested interest, why do they always vote liberal?
Government paid for funeral thats why
Oh, now that is rich!

The six point lead Obama has over Romney?
Last I checked, Obama's 'lead' over Romney is a negative 1. Romney is leading Obama 48 to 47. What's that old saying? "Figures don't lie, but liars can figure."
Someone up the page asked about the Hispanic unemployment rate. I'll find it and get back to you.
Perhaps you'd care to post the link to the poll you're citing?
Except for Rassmussen, the most biased national poll in the country, every single poll has either Obama ahead or in a virtual tie with Romney.
Also, Obama's lead appears to be increasing.
Buck - he's going from the poll he has going on in his head since all others show Obama leading. Just let him gloat - it's all he has!
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate among Latinos in June of 2012 was 11%. Three percent higher than the overall abysmal rate of 8.2%.
Still, I suppose Obama can tell the Latino's something like "Well, your unemployment is roughly 38% higher than the country as a whole, but at least you're not Black! Their unemployment rate is over 14%!"
A link to the stat I quoted:
://bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t03.htm
..
Had to vote for that one ... just because you owe me lunch tomorrow! ;-)
I would give him all the support too. Hell a family of four, Mexican Illegals make more on welfare than I do working full time after taxes. Do you really know how much a family of four makes on welfare? $62,000 now thats better than my take home pay. I wouldn't get a job if, I was bringing in all that free taxpayer money. Why do you think so many have been collecting it for generations?
The ad's running in Mexico, informs them of all the welfare the USA is handing out. Can't really blame them, when our Govt. and USDA tells Mexico to run the ad's, for all the free welfare. He will get all of legal and illegal immigrants votes for this very reason. He just scored major points on the income waivers for Tanf.
It's virtually impossible in this day and age for an illegal family, Mexican or not, to recieve the kind of welfare you're talking about.
Again, virtually impossible.
You should read more.
Do the math. Free housing, healthcare, food and education. Consider this $20,610 for every man, woman and child in this country. The federal government runs 33 different housing programs: 21 programs to provide food, eight healthcare programs, 27 cash or general assistance programs. It's hard to find a government department that doesn't run an anti-poverty program. Correction: A family of three can collect $62,000.
poisonivy85 - what a ridiculous post. You know that makes no sense, right? NO one collects $62,000 or anything close. What do you get out of posting lies and nonsense? Oh, that's right - it's the Republican way!
Go add it up fool, and get back at me with your total. LMAO Republican way, I don't follow either party. When you do the figures, add up free housing, taxes for education free, healthcare free, earned income credit free, foodstamps,Tanf account. Don't forget the free utilities program, and free cell phone program. Why do you think generations stay on the system?
poisonivy - the fool here is you. You actually think anyone believes your lies? And, of course you do know there is a time limit on receiving help, right? Oh, along with your VASTLY inflated numbers, you failed to mention that.
Again, you're a filthy liar. But, that makes you a great Republican 'cause that's all you've got!
Obama/Biden 2012
I know for a fact, what is handed out. I also know the waivers, cover the time limits so run along forest. I can understand why you like those Democrats, they pay your bills, so you remain loyal. You're probably at the mailbox every month waiting on that Govt. hand-out.
poison- you're plain stupid. As I said, I pay my own bills and I don't know anyone on welfare. But clearly you have firsthand knowledge. Must suck to be you!
You're too funny.
poison - and you're just pathetic and a true loser!
Buck no its not impossible for Legals or illegals to get that much money from welfare. That is because of the widely fragmented check system that runs welfare that allows such fraud and cheeting.
Example: Father goes sign up for welfare claims he has 8 kids but really has 2. No checks are made to verify his statement. Mother goes in same day or next using different name and claims 8 kids as well. If they live close to another state and have a freind or relative that lives there they will repeat the process there using their freinds or relatives address.
That is because the Federal Welfare program is run by each state without any checks or balances that prevent double or tripplie dippings . Hell I would not doubt that there is Quadruple dippings going on.
There needs to be a federal data base that prevents this fraud. People who apply for welfare and wick cards. should have to provide fingerprints which can be electronically done now and have a picture taken. that can be put in the system. They have to do it to get a drivers lic. Or provide a thumb print in order to cash a check So there should not be any argument from the hispanic or any other community that it goes to far. Its to prevent fraud so anyone who claims its violates their right we will know they are the ones who are commiting fraud against the system. If the ACLU wants to try to go against it. I would have to ask the IRS to void their tax exemption for supporting criminal activities.
Layton, Red Dev, glad you set the Concern record straight.
Jody,
They both denied Feisty comment, how was that setting it straight?
WTF are you mumbling about now?
I didn't see anything racist or specific about her child's autism in the post Concerned has been posting all over FR today, the totas. We have all seen many a post about her sister's partying and those she parties with. A little too much family TMI from her.
Okay... now I see what's going on here (I have the nitwit on ignore)...
Where did I mention her kids autism? Even if I did, HOW is that racist?
For the record, I had NO idea her son has autism because I quit reading her crap months ago!
If you want to whore your brats out for whatever reason on a public message board, then you better be able to either take the heat or get the f@ck out of the kitchen!
Not to mention, this broad follows me around like a shadow with her juvenile taunts!
I hope this has cleared up any confusion...
Layton,
I know, she is posting the same thing on every thread. I don't know what she is talking about regarding a racist comment or attack on her son autism. If she wants to be upset with Feisty, the remarks on her sister would do it.
They both denied Feisty comment, how was that setting it straight?
That is what I was referring to.
BINGO! ☺
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
No confusion at all. This tells what kind of person you really are. I do not whore my kids. Many posters here talk about them including Grandchildrens.
It is a free country and your welcome to insult me. But layoff my children B#$%h.
The right wing is missing the point about Hispanic/Latino voters.
One. They don't trust the GOP.
Two. They believe the GOP is becoming more racist with every election cycle.
Three. They live in reality, so they know it's impossible to remove and or deport 12 million illegal aliens, the majority being Hispanic/Latinos.
Four. When they hear the likes of Mitt Romney telling us they'll "deport themselves" they laugh out loud. When they hear Barack Obama say "We won't go after those that were brought here as children," they applaud.
Sometimes it's not just the economy, stupid.
Cut the welfare programs to zero, they'll leave.
poispnivy85: Hispanics aren't the ones on welfare programs, they're a hard working bunch and boy oh boy they earn every cent they make!
At heart, I believe most Hispanics, especially the oder generation don't want to be taxed, don't want welfare, want to make it on their own, don't want government in their business,,, they just believe the left wing propaganda regarding the GOP.
Not many people want to be on social programs. It seems that everyone believes the GOP propaganda....
GOP=85% white
There's a reason for this. It's not racism, it's apathy.
BearDown - but ignorant people like poison believe the GOP propaganda. It's all they have to fan their hatred. It's what the GOP counts on - ignorance and stupidity.
Aaahhh, I see you took your "venom" pill this morning !
jim - and you took your daily "idiot" pill. It's working!
Why or when did the term 'liberals' become like a dirty word. I've seen that thrown around for a few years now like it was something bad, just sayin'
What I find even more funny is that the "liberal" or "libtard" accusation gets thrown out there when you disagree with the right wingers on even the slightest of things. lol!
Oilman - it's all the right wingers have. Pretty sad, really!
I'm a Liberal and this is what it stands for to me.
My Definition
We liberal democrats stand for and support such fundamental ideas as constitutionalism, liberal democracy, free and fair elections, human rights, free trade, and the freedom of religion.
We are against the favoritism that the Republican party holds true to corporate dynasties that make our lives living hell.
We are a party that believes in Live and Let Live.
We support education for the masses and taking care of people less fortunate; not eliminating basic needs such as healthcare, food and shelter.
The idea of self-reliance can only work for people that are educated, skilled and will be realized without discrimination.
The conservative approach to control my body, influence my morals and religion is not acceptable me or those whose founded this country.
You either stand for something...or you'll fall for anything.
.....what happened to those Obummer backers braggin' about deporting record Mexicans at the border......I guess they didn't tell the illegals about that.....but the Hispanics can love BO as much as they want to......they are the ones with the high unemployment numbers and most of them are not eligible to vote, anyway.....so this article is meaningless to the election.......try again NBC (National Bullocks Co.)....
Assumptions like this are what turns many minorities (including Mexicans) off to the GOP.
Liberals don't have to do anything to impact this number. Conservatives are so clueless about anything beyond their own nose that they'll destroy their relationship with the fastest growing voting block without even realizing it.
Another example of this is the idea that putting a Spanish speaking person on the ticket will get other Spanish speaking folks to vote for them. The GOP just doesn't understand what pandering means.
Guys its obvious that some here are just afraid. If you listen to the poll you not to bright. They have to put Romney and close. Remember the last election the media put McCain close. Obama is leading by a very large margin and thats why Romney is pulling all this bs. The Democrate are going to wipe the Republicans in every catagory.
I don't know where this is coming from b/c my whole family, friends and their friends, etc. can't stand nobama and were all latinos!!
Relda999 say something intellegent.
....only Dumbocraps are stupid enough to continue to vote themselves their next welfare check......the well is almost dry and you all deserve to experience the extreme drought heading your way.....
while your repukes keep filling their pockets with our money. Have you heard about rick scott administration and what they are getting away with. Getting away with private jet rides instead of using the public way of transportation and all on our tax dollars, shameful, and then saying we have to cut back and laying off teachers, police officers and firefighters etc..Here in Florida he is one hated man. Get him out of office.
Even all my Facebook Latinos friends are going for Romney!! Shoot, my Mom can't stand the man!!
relda999 say something intellegent.
That's OK, most of my relatives, and all of my Facebook friends love Obama, and we're white. Go figure.
Obama is loved by all the dictators and communist regimes like Hugo Chavez. If thats what you think america should be like then all means vote on him in November.
Of course a lot of hispanics support him. 1st he said don't secure the borders, then he said I won't deport kids, then he said the States can't do anything to you if you sneak across the border.
So of course hispanics support him. He is for allowing illegal immigration - NEWS FLASH most of the $$$ earned by illegal immigrants is sent back to MX. Every seen a western union near a border state? I'm sure this does wonder for our so called recovery.
NEWS FLASH most of the $$$ earned by illegal immigrants DOES NOT go back to Mexico.
That's an ignorant statement, or an outright lie, or both.
The premise is utterly ridiculous. It's just another right wing propaganda talking point. In other words, it's a lie.
Another great example of how well the government preforms their task our tax dollars fund. The lack of border protection now impacts our election and while this has taken place over many presidents Obama's cure to everything is to raise taxes to cover the waste, fraud, lack of doing the jobs in which they are paid to do. This would cover those that have yet to come up with a budget under Obama, those watching porn 8 hours a day while Bernie and his buddies stole out investments, etc...
