VIDEO: First Read Minute: 'Mediscare,' 'anti-business' and tight polls

NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro discuss President Obama's attempt to tie Mitt Romney to the controversial Ryan budget. Plus, a slate of new national polls show the race is as tight as ever.

Ahhhh Yesss!

That marvelous Ryan budget plan which Willard has wrapped his arms around in a nice tight *hug*!

Seniors... GET YOUR GROUPONS...

Then there is the other little problem with it, where is doesn't really balance the budget until 2040!

1. Mitt Romney called the Ryan budget 'marvelous'.

2, Thus, the President doesn't need to "attempt to tie" Romney to it.

3. Romney has done that all by himself.

The RyanRomneyGOPKoch quartet are totally on the same page.

    Just like his tax returns.

Even the only full year tax return released is missing information either because those pages were left out of the released tax document intentionally or they were not filed which would be a violation of tax law.

His 2010 tax return is missing the Report on Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR)

Dennis usually I would agree whole heartedly about Republican obstructionism, but the bipartisan infrastructure and transportation bill was passed in late June. Senate passed it in the afternoon once the R bill went through the house. It only took them almost two years but the GOP finally did their job on that particular vote. Unfortunately it hurts environmental impact studies in regards to construction projects, meant as a way to quicken construction time.

I am hopeful that the funding ($109 billion) will allow for a big boost of job numbers maybe not for July but they might show up in August, September and October just in time for the election. Mitt may well be kicking rocks if this benefits the unemployment numbers.

    Mark,

Much of the funding in the bill was to keep existing projects going. They even passed a continuing resolution to allow time for the new bill to get thru the formal process. The CR was signed by our President just before midnight on June 30th.

Also this was John Boehner’s prize initiative for the 112th Congress and he had a very difficult time getting anything passed among his own caucus.

Beyond the 1st lady and her potential successor I think the comment was directed more for the average citizen. However, now that you bring them up the real question is which of these women can better relate to the average person. Who do you think can understand why social services, or medicare, or children's programs are more then just numbers on a spreadsheet? Who do you think understands that a balanced approach calling for increased revenues(taxes) and smart spending reform (cuts) are the way to move forward to fund our entitlements and our government.

Romney is in the anti-jobs party and trying to hide what he did in his limited style business. Republicans filibustered a small business tax credit bill to death just a week ago, and have, of course, buried the president's American Jobs Act under committee room rugs.

Republicans are not into employment, they are into tax breaks for big business and the wealthy - free money from Washington to supplement record breaking corporate profits. Billionaires are spending millions of dollars to keep the profits from Washington increasing. The money that used to trickle down to sold out Republican legislators is now flooding in. The 1% expect a big return on their investment in republicans and Romney and Ryan have assured them that they will get it, all at the expense of the middle class and the poor.

Huge program cuts are coming in education, medical benefits, Social Security, aid to the disabled, food programs for the unemployed and poor, and health care for children of the poor and working poor. This is one time when republicans are completely ignoring the church and Christian moral principles. The prophets are spelled p-r-o-f-i-t-s.
