Obama: Trying to turn up the heat in Florida

“President Barack Obama is trying to keep the pressure on rival Mitt Romney, opening two days of campaigning in Florida in search of military veterans, seniors and unaligned voters in the state's crucial midsection,” AP writes. “Obama was holding events Thursday in Jacksonville and West Palm Beach as his campaign urges Romney to release more years of his tax returns and keeps a sharp focus on the former Massachusetts governor's tenure as the head of a private equity firm.”

The Jacksonville Times Union will be live blogging the president’s visit.

“A pair of liberal super PACs are teaming up on a new Web campaign that accuses Mitt Romney of advancing an ‘extreme anti-LGBT agenda’ that would make life worse for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans,” the Boston Globe writes. “The campaign is called “Mitt Gets Worse” -- a play on the “It Gets Better” project, which is a collection of videos designed to encourage LGBT youth. President Obama was featured in an “It Gets Better” video in October 2010.”

Actor Morgan Freeman has donated $1 million to pro-Obama superPAC Priorities USA action, aides confirm to NBC’s Carrie Dann. Here's a statement from Freeman:  "Pres. Obama has done a remarkable job in historically difficult circumstances.  He ended combat operations in Iraq, put in place sensible reforms of Wall Street, saved the auto industry and protected the health care of every American. He has led our nation to be more tolerant and placed impressive, accomplished women on the Supreme Court.  In return, he is the target of hundreds of millions of dollars from right-wing sources.  I am proud to lend my voice - and support - to those who defend him.  Priorities USA Action is doing a great job of protecting the values I believe in.  I am happy to help them and I hope others will join me."

Now this is a demonstration of the ignorance of Democrats in leadership. There going to spend REAL MONEY on attacking Romney among the Gay community, whats next attacking Romney in ads focused on the Black community. SINCE WHEN has that political demographic EVER voted less than 90% for the democrats.

Its astoundingly poor judgement. Either the democrats are Stupid spending this money, or they have real concern this "sure thing" political demographic wont show up in November.

say what you want about it being "only a web ad" it still costs actual money - something the dem's have been complaining loudly about having less of since citizens united.

President Obama is out to win Florida: Mitt has managed to personally offend and alienate the Latino and African American voter blocs, the Ryan Plan is going to lose the GOP the senior vote, the Republican Party has run off women voters, and consequently Obama is going to appeal to the remaining voters upon whom he can count.

All the Republican Party will have left in November is the right wing lunatic fringe and a few survivalist militia groups. And you say the Democratic leadership is ignorant...

A NOTE TO RIGHTWINGERS -- After the 2000 election and all the shenanigans in Florida in particular, you can never use Florida in your defense in any way, ever!

The media needs to be straight up.....The following statements (and I am using that term loosely right now) is what have been printed in 2 different publications and quoted as coming from Morgan Freeman. I am struck by the different wordings in the statements?? Both can't be correct! It's kinda like how Romney wants to say he left Bain in 1999 but attested to SEC that he was CEO, President, and Owner during years after. Please confirm which is the correct statement issued by Morgan Freeman!

.....Here's a statement from Freeman: "Pres.

Freeman confirmed his donation in a statement, praising the president's first-term record and warning of the special interest groups targeting Obama with "hundreds of millions of dollars."

"President Obama has done a remarkable job in terrible circumstances," the actor said. "He has ended combat operations in Iraq, put in place sensible reforms of Wall Street, saved the auto industry and protected the healthcare of every American with a preexisting condition. He has recognized the full equality of all our brothers and sisters and placed impressive, accomplished women on the Supreme Court. In return for this he is being targeted by hundreds of millions of dollars in special-interest money. I for one am proud to lend my voice - and support - to those who defend him."

What a great title for the video "It Gets Better". The real question is how can it get worse.

    • The unemployment rate has averaged 9.1% for all americans. If seven and a half million Americans had not given up on finding work (they are not counted as unemployed) the rate of unemployment would be 12.4%, 16.7% for Hispanics adn 18.9% for African Americans.
    • The average increase in the Federal Debt during the Obama Administration is $4.1 BILLION per DAY. That is not $4.1B spent, but additional debt.

Romney is running on his business experience at Bain Capital. He is also refusing to let voters know what he did while at Bain. Therefore, Romney is running on empty. He could run on his experience as governor, but the record of accomplishment centers on the worst job creation performance in 47 states, a moderately liberal record, and Romneycare. He wishes that information was only recorded in his top secret tax returns.

"There is something rotten in Denmark", said Hamlet. Those tax returns are apparently so toxic that they threaten to destroy his candidacy. We can assume that unless he proves skeptics wrong by releasing the tax returns... etc., etc. More and more Republican leaders are asking for release of the returns, and so is the public.

      Well?...

Of course Obama has a problem in Florida. First he screwed them over by his gross mismanagement of the Gulf oil spill; then he provided weapons to the drug cartels who represent a serious danger to the citizens of the state; and then he hides behind executive privilege to cover up his role in that fiasco.

Apparently the documents relating to Fast and Furious are so damning to Obama that if they come to light he would not only lose the election, but would also be sent to prison.
