The news that President Bush's war on terrorism soon will have cost the U.S. taxpayers $1 trillion — and counting — is unlikely to spread much Christmas cheer in these tough economic times. A trio of recent reports — none by the Bush Administration — suggests that sometime early in the Obama presidency, spending on the wars started since 9/11 will pass the trillion-dollar mark. Even after adjusting for inflation, that's four times more than America spent fighting World War I, and more than 10 times the cost of 1991's Persian Gulf War (90% of which was paid for by U.S. allies). The war on terrorism looks set to surpass the costs the Korean and Vietnam wars combined, topped only by World War II's price tag of $3.5 trillion.

The cost of sending a single soldier to fight for a year in Afghanistan or Iraq is about $775,000 — three times more than in other recent wars, says a new report from the private but authoritative Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA). A large chunk of the increase is a result of the administration's cramming new military hardware into the emergency budget bills it has been using to pay for the wars. These costs, of course, pale alongside the price paid by the nearly 5,000
U.S. troops who have lost their lives in the conflicts — not to mention the wounded — and the families of all the casualties. And President Bush insists that their sacrifice and the expenditure on the wars have helped prevent a repeat of 9/11. "We could not afford to wait for the terrorists to attack again," he said last week at the Army War College. "So we launched a global campaign to take the fight to the terrorists abroad, to dismantle their networks, to dry up their financing and find their leaders and bring them to justice."

But many Americans may suffer a moment of sticker shock from the conclusions of the CSBA report and similar assessments from the Government Accounting Office (GAO) and Congressional Research Service (CRS), which make clear that the nearly $1 trillion already spent is only a down payment on the war's long-term costs. The trillion-dollare figure does not, for example, include long-term health care for veterans, thousands of whom have suffered crippling wounds, or the interest payments on the money borrowed by the Federal Government to fund the war. The bottom lines of the three assessments vary: the CSBA study says $904 billion has been spent so far, while the GAO says the Pentagon alone has spent $808 billion through last September. The CRS study says the wars have cost $864 billion, but CRS didn't factor inflation into its calculations.

Sifting through Pentagon data, the CSBA study breaks down the total costs of the war on terrorism as $687 billion for Iraq, $184 billion for Afghanistan and $33 billion for homeland security. By 2018, depending on how many U.S. troops remain in Afghanistan and Iraq, the total cost is projected to likely be between $1.3 trillion and $1.7 trillion. On the safe assumption that the wars are being waged with borrowed money, interest payments raise the cost by an additional $600 billion through 2018.

Shortly before the Iraq war began, White House economic adviser Larry Lindsey earned a rebuke from within the Administration when he said the war could cost as much as $200 billion. "It's not knowable what a war or conflict like that would cost," Defense Secretary Don Rumsfeld said. "You don't know if it's going to last two days or two weeks or two months. It certainly isn't going to last two years."

According to the CSBA study, the Administration has fudged the war's true costs in two ways. Borrowing money to fund the wars is one way of conducting them on the cheap, at least in the short term. But just as pernicious has been the Administration's novel way of budgeting for them. Previous wars were funded through the annual appropriations process, with emergency spending — which gets far less congressional scrutiny — used only for the initial stages of a conflict. But the Bush Administration relied on such supplemental appropriations to fund the wars until 2008, seven years after invading Afghanistan and five years after storming Iraq.

"For these wars, we have relied on supplemental appropriations for far longer than in the case of past conflicts," says Steven Kosiak of the CSBA, one of Washington's top defense-budget analysts. "Likewise, we have relied on borrowing to cover more of these costs than we have in earlier wars — which will likely increase the ultimate price we have to pay." That refusal to spell out the full cost can lead to unwise spending increases elsewhere in the federal budget or unwarranted tax cuts. "A sound budgeting process forces policymakers to recognize the true costs of their policy choices," Kosiak adds. "Not only did we (BUSH) not raise taxes, we cut (unfunded) taxes and significantly expanded spending."

Throughout the campaign so far, we have see the faces of children standing in the sweltering heat as well as in the pouring rain, just to get a glimpse of President Obama. This is the first president they know. And for the rest of their in all likelihood, the only president they'll ever have the chance to see in person.

There is something very special taking place as you look at the photos over at The Obama Diary of President Obama while he campaigns.

In 2008 we saw similar images, only then he was a candidate for the presidency. He was someone different from all the usual suspects, and he was someone we all wanted to stop and listen to. He struck a cord with us and so we came out in the millions to campaign and donate on his behalf. We all shared his passion and vision for our future.

He was at all times focused and on fire back then. But it was something more. It was the sense of decency in this man that we all recognized immediately. It was the sense of intelligence and determination to turn the sinking ship known as our nation around.

It is now 2012 and he is our president. You can see the difference from 2008.

He seems relaxed and happy to meet people all around the country as he travels.

He is aware that it has not been an easy 4 years for either him or us. But I sense a different campaign; I sense a together we stand atmosphere from both the president and the crowds. This is a campaign that has been built on trust, respect and a sense that neither he nor the American people will walk away until we've finished the job we started back in 2008.

These crowds are not standing in line for hours just to see a candidate. They're standing in line to see their president.

And all the money in the world thrown at him won't change this one little fact. We are sticking together.

He is our president. And we are rooting for him to succeed just as he is rooting for all of us to succeed. His decency remains solid. He is standing taller now than he did in 2008. He has weathered the storms with grace, dignity, warmth and humor. And always always with that smile that literally lights up the world.

And these children will never ever forget the day they saw him. They may not remember the heat or the rain, but they will remember him.

Because even they recognize that something special in this man. Even they recognize that this man, our president, is on their side.

We Americans have a very bad habit of looking the other way when things don't seem right. The banking industry, the Iraq War and the collapse of the middle and working classes are just three examples.

Now more than ever is not the time to simply look the other way. Please invest in our president. He is a man worth investing in, as it is he, and only he, who invested in us.

I must say that even with my disappointments with President Obama, he makes a striking figure talking in the rain. He is a true leader. I just wish he had surrounded himself with better people than Larry Summers and Timothy Geithner. These guys are no good for anything but using for chum if you were fishing. All I can say is you would never see Republicans lining up in the rain to hear Mitt Romney speak. These waited for hours to hear the President of Our United States speak. Even if Mitt was to speak to republicans in the rain, he would have rain machines flown in and set up that would rain all around him but not on him and charge the republicans coming to see him $20 for a umbrella to use during the fake rain. Romney and the rest of the Republicans swear that if we just cut taxes on the rich they will create jobs. That is absurd! People hire workers when they expect that those employees will make them money. Republicans have used tax policy and other means to ensure that virtually all wealth gains of the past two decades have gone to the rich and to corporations (many of which, although very profitable, pay absolutely no tax). Corporations, in spite of a slow economy, have more money available than at any time in the history of the world. That should, according to Republicans, result in massive hiring. It has not. Why? Because the middle class has been under-compensated for their labor by the wealthy.

The top tax rate during the Eisenhower administration was 91%. We had basically full employment because we had equitable distribution of wealth and the middle class had money with which to purchase goods and services. It was also during the Eisenhower administration that we were investing in infrastructure in this country, namely the Interstate highway system. That created jobs and our economy was healthy. Cool. It would work again, but the "just say NO" Republicans will not allow it.

I have never, however, been less than extremely proud of him as a human being and so proud that he is my President. By identifying the Buffett rule: That the richest one percent needs to pay more into a system that has allowed them to prosper into the richest one percent;

the list goes on and on, but your vision of social justice and equality is a refreshing stance from the past divide and conquer of allowing those at the very top to continue their drubbing on the middle and lower folks of this country.

Alright. enough is enough! I voted for Obama but I am tired of hearing about Bain and outsourcing! Okay, maybe the article above didn't cover everything Obama talked about or maybe it did. But Bain,Bush era tax cuts and taxing those more if you make $250,000 is getting to be old news. I disagree with increasing the taxes at $250,000 and up. Many of those people who make that much money are mostly small business and taxing them more because it will probably prevent them from creating more jobs due to the increased revenue they will have to pay, I could agree with increasing taxes for big corporations that make millions and billions because they can handle it. Small business, on the other hand, could go out of business if they can't handle the tax increases. However, it (large corporation increases) may have the opposite effect in increased prices for products, food (lot of farmers make more then $250k per year), gasoline, pharmaceuticals, autos, housing, electronics and many more products. That will have a devastating effect on the economy while tax increases will would freeze most wages to the point that Americans won't be able to afford even the most basic needs. Bain has been talked about for weeks now, tax increases for months.

I just want to know what the hell Obama is going to do about the economy because that is what the majority of what Americans want to know! The tax increases have been in the media for months! Get off the Bain and tax wagon, please! If not I'm just gonna write in Ron Paul!

Now, before any of you Liberal/Progressive miscreants start blathering about the alleged 4.4 million jobs "created or saved" don't embarrass yourselves. First of all if you want to brag about them realize each one of these wondeful jobs cost us about $200,000 each to create.

We all know these are low end retail, temp, "health care and social assistance" and "leisure and hospitality" sector jobs.

Wage growth is always pathetically low in these sectors and these aren't disappointing. Average hourly earnings growth in these sectors has been 1.95% while CPI grows at 2.9% year-over-year. For those of you Liberals who are harping all over these threads about how wonderful Barrack Hussein is doing, this means inflation is eating up any wage growth they may be having.

More people are dropping out of the workforce than are jobs being created. A statistic not reported unless you look deep into the numbers. High-wage industries like technology, engineering, and others aren't hiring because they can't find enough skilled people to hire. Of course we haven't heard a peep out of Barrack about education other than pouring more money into college loans. This is the most ridiculous effort by this administration.

You can pour hundreds of billions of dollars into loans and grants for college but they mean absolutely nothing if we're not creating graduates for the technology sectors that create long term jobs that pay well. How can we do this if our pathetic K-12 public education system is graduating illiterates? Most Americans, and most of our high school graduates, read at an 8th grade level. Industries have to give applicants basic reading comprehension tests to determine if the person can understand simple instructions and warning labels in their work areas.

Our high school graduates rank in the bottom 1/3 of all OECD countries in math, reading and science. Read a high school seniors paper, most of them don't know how to use--there, their or they're--correctly in a sentence. Ask a high school student to calculate 30% of 420 without a calculator and their eyes start spinning. Even America’s top math students only rank 25th out of 30 countries when compared with top students elsewhere in the world.

But not to worry, our students know more about the new religion, GOVERNMENT, taking over our nation as it preaches all about “Adam and Steve” and their "special" family. Our kids can put a condom on a cucumber better than anyone in the world! As political correctness and its irrational ideology consumes our nation everything is either a social or economic justice issue or the favorite nowadays, a racial issue. We dissect this dysfunctional Liberal "equality" system until we even label a man as a "White Hispanic", obviously for political discourse reasons.

For 3 1/2 years this president has done nothing to improve our education system. The 30% of dropouts from the class of 2011 will cost our nation more than $300 billion in lost wages, lost taxes and lost productivity. You can logically add this to the hundreds of billions of dollars we lose to waste fraud and abuse every year as a result of our bloated and criminal government bureaucracy. Of course despite this massive loss of productive capital Barrack Hussein wants to raise taxes on the evil, mean, nasty, rich bogeymen. Yeah that $85 BILLION a year will really save our economy. Our government spends $10 BILLION every single day so we have cut a whopping 8 ½ days off of our Debt. Now what? Now who do we tax next to pay for the other 356 1/2 days? As Andrew Mellon explained in the past, taxation should NEVER be a system of rewards and punishments. Its purpose should be to simply fund the needs of our government as mandated by the Constitution. Government has never, and will never, control its own size.

Jobs need to be created in the private sector BY the private sector. Barracks useless “Jobs Bill” is just another embarrassment disguising Stimulus II. The job creation, once again, is driven by the public sector which never creates wealth, it just redistributes it around. More baseless tax cuts and credits that aren’t creating any long term productive jobs so industries can feel confident will last. Where are the trade agreement reforms we keep hearing about? When will we create trade agreements that are FAIR, not free? There’s nothing free about our exports being exploited with tariffs, taxes and duties and our imports aren’t. Where is the tax reform we keep being promised? Our criminal progressive tax system is an abysmal failure yet the Liberals don’t want to “Change” anything other than a few “loopholes” and upper tax brackets. This isn’t tax reform, it’s bleeding heart feel-good posturing. Our tax system has encompassed every tax bracket from 1% on low wage earners to 94% on upper income earners and we historically continue to collect total tax receipts of 18% as a percentage of GDP! Income tax revenues have been a near constant 8% as a percentage of GDP! This is the stupidity of the believers. Let’s keep a massive 70,000 page tax code that only those who can afford the army of accountants, lawyers and consultants can abuse it. The more important question is why we have a tax system based on production when our economy is 80% consumption. Wouldn’t it be more reasonable to tax consumption if we insist on it being the driving force of our economy? I also imagine not collecting revenue on the estimated $1 trillion to $2 trillion of black market money makes sense to the progressive tax worshippers.

Where is the regulation reform that costs our economy over $1.75 trillion a year? I guess it will get better now that Barrack and his cabal are adding more regulations in 3 years than Bush did in 8 years. Why do we need 144,000 pages of mostly redundant regulations? Now, before any of you “scorched earthers” get your panties all twisted up in a knot about me wanting dirty air, dirty water and nuclear waste in your bathroom, grow up. No one wants that. You all know regulations are out of control, just as the tax code is. Obamacare is unleashing 12,000 new pages of regulations and they’re only half way through the the Bill. Been there, done that. The reality is that we're both right. There isn't one thing I said that doesn't happen in the "real world". I've been faced with the same decisions in my career and believe me, the cards were stacked in my direction almost without fail... it's just that some of us have a conscience... or are what Republicans call fools... just because it's legal or barely legal doesn't mean you do it.

Yes, when taxes are raised across the board, they will ultimately find their way back into our prices. But that's where the structure comes in. Personally I like the cutoff being at $1 Million instead of $250,000 since $250,000 would not likely characterize someone taking extreme paydays out of a company.

And taxes on paydays in excess of $1 Million are far less likely to find their way back into pricing of products. Instead, they would discourage taking that much out of the business and encourage putting more back in the business to support efficiencies or expansions or jobs or research or whatever the business needs.

I am an EXTREME capitalist in that I've been in and support small and large business across the board. But I want the government run correctly... taxes are necessary and should be sufficient but not excessive. I HATE "starve the beast" mentalities... they are destructive and I've never seen a company recover from such antics.

When I was in college one required business class (and with other curriculum's also) was Ethics - this study has either been absorbed into the related areas or discontinued all together. The point is as younger people came on-board it became clear to me that ethics were a less than desirable trait, with those types moving quicker up the ladder. It was a mindset that the ends justified the means - and it is far more prevalent today than ever before as long as the law is met (or can be justifiably argued). So, with taxes, all individuals of means in business and on either side of the political isle take advantage of the loop-holes (if you will excuse the term) - but hypocrisy reigns and is used to denigrate opponents. Until the tax code is changed (I'm very dubious of that ever happening though) we will be struck with this situation. We need to end the class warfare that exists today pitting the have-nots against the haves. Restructuring the tax laws is the only way to make them fair for all - encourage business to invest, create jobs and not penalize them unfairly to create a political tool. I'm with you on the starting line as far as the at what income level do we begin.

I'm as much a capitalist as any other who wishes to earn and control and maximize their profits and use all tax quirks to the best of my ability and advantage. To hold someone else in contempt for doing the same thing is the height of hypocrisy.

Congress specifically prohibited waivers to insure that the recipients would indeed look to help themselves and their families improve their lot and not rely on government assistance for the rest of their lives.

Obama's new directives signal an end to the 1996 reforms signed by Clinton, and by his actions, welfare recipients no longer need to look for work as a condition of getting assistance. Now, in socialist Sweden, government benefits are tied to work, the Swedes insist that you be working or looking to be employed to get the bennies. Obama's administration also ran ads on spanish station soap operas, ad that told people to get their friends and themselves on food stamps. In one ad, a woman tells her friend that she doesn't need food stamps, and the 'friend' tells her she should get them anyways.

So, guess Obama should also be getting food stamps to be amongst his 'troops?' Please, this is not how a leader governs. The objective is to get people off of, not on (in record numbers, BTW) government assistance. The goal should be self-sufficiency, not government and big Nanny reliance.

Romney is spending less than Obama even though he is taking in 20% more. Obama is spending more that he is taking in. The strategy is win public opinion by painting a evil picture of Romney now and hope to hold on in November. Being most voters don't make up their minds or even get involved until the last month, an October surprise is usually a better strategy. Obama's problem is that the demonizing isn't getting the footing he wants because Romney isn't viewed as evil, just detached.

Romney resigned as a manager in 1999 to rescue a the bankrupt Olympics in Salt Lake City. He DID NOT sell his stock. If he had enough stock, he may have been entitled to sit on board meetings, and give an opinion, but he still is not running the company. Bain, which is more democrats than republicans unanimously agree that he had no managerial roll after 1999.

Typically in this type of a business, when an executive resigns, he is offered a contract that may pay him an a nominal salary or more likely a rate for consulting on Projects. Consulting is not managing, but giving advise, and as a consultant would not be still a CEO. Again, Bain Capital says he did nothing.

About the 6 or 7 applications to the SEC. These were submitted by the individual companies, not Bain, not Romney. Neither Bain or Romney signed them or participated in applying to the SEC. Unless Bain owns 50+% of a company it is still run by an independent management team. Having applied showing Bain as one of the owners (probably required) but listing Romney as CEO says more about why the company applying needed Bains investment than it does about Bain or Romney.

Note: It's one thing to believe something, and another thing to believe something to the point you are being led into the world of make believe. Politicians love that when it is in their favour.

Willard Romney stole the retirement funds of countless workers and shut down businesses that America vitally needs to compete in the world marketplace to fatten his bank accounts in the Cayman Islands and Switzerland. Somebody at msnbc needs to check their math. My chart says that getting the States that Kerry won in 2004 plus Virginia and Colorado adds up to 268 Electoral votes - 2 shy of the magic 270. Perhaps they are using the 2004 electoral map, but it changed with the new census, giving 'Red' States 6 more Electoral Votes.

Can someone verify for me to make sure my math is correct. Here are the States that Kerry won in 2004; WA, OR, CA, IL, NI, NY, MAINE, VT, MA, RI, CT, NJ, DE, MD, HI, DC, MN, WI, NH, PA for a total of 252 Electoral Votes, but in 2012 those States only have 246 Electoral Votes. Adding VA (13) and CO (9) only gives Obama 268 Electoral Votes - 2 shy of victory.

Now Mitt Romney asserts that though he is listed in SEC fillings for 1999, 2000, 20001, 20002 as the sole shareholder, CEO, and President of Bain Capital, and though his signature is on 5 new Bain acquisition fillings and his seat on their Boards of Directors, and his testimony under oath to the Massachusetts Election Commission that he was in fact actively involved in working and living in Massachusetts during 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 in order to confirm his residency requirements for running for governor of Massachusetts that he indeed left Bain in 1999 and thus bears no responsibility for the actions of Bain Capital during that time period. (This sentence by intent is a run on sentence since we are dealing with an uninterrupted stream of lies.) My question is: who does bear the responsibility for the activity of any corporation if not it's sole stockholder, CEO and President? Republican crazymaking - as all liars do.

I would rather support someone who is not afraid to get rid of the dead wood than someone who is afraid to. That is not to say that that would be the only qualifier.

Speaking about body language, better start watching obama more closely. His body langauge is quite telling during many of his speeches. Talk about being saying two different things at the same time.

I want to remain focused on your false claim about Mr. Romney saying he liked to fire people. You did not hear him say those words alone. Not unless, as I speculated and by your answer think I am right, you are simply repeating an Obama campaign talking point. Had you watched Mr. Romney when he spoke those words you would have seen him immediately talk about being able to fire those who provide services and in relation to not being able to fire whoever DC, for instance, might pick to determine if you get a health care treatment.

What Mr. Romney was getting at is what I speculate as well that you agree with him, and disagree with Mr. Obama, about. To wit, you are better at making choices for yourself than the government. So, I want to be very clear...you did not hear Mr. Romney say he liked to fire people, and you certainly did not read his demeanor to imply he meant he likes to fire employees. You are, unfortunately, lying about what he did say, or you have been beguiled by Mr. Obama's lies and have accepted them as true. Either way, you are wrong. Either way, you do nothing to advance what should be the purpose of our politics (which isn't to get along, or even like one another, but is to get policies enacted) since your only goal, it appears, is to see Mr. Obama win regardless of what he supports.

We can't truly know your motivations. The best we can do is to make a fair guess at them by your actions. I suggest you go back and watch what Mr. Romney actually said and not what Mr. Obama has told you he said. If you still come out of that believing he was talking about employees as opposed to those businesses he deals with, then so be it. Oh horsehocky Rich! I watched the original clip. The lead remark is surely followed by a statement about businesses and good service and all that BS. In my opinion the subtext, tone, and body language all bespeak a much broader meaning easily extending to people and their jobs. A core value underpinning the draconian policies seen at Bain Capital.

Similar impressions arise when viewing his statement "I don't worry about the poor". Yes we got some immediate backtracking and BS about the safety net, but I really don't think this man cares about the poor beyond how his actions or inactions might make him look to voters.

I'm sorry to be stubborn about this, but you are not telling the truth. It wasn't as if minutes, or hours, or days later that Mr. Romney clarified his comments. It was part of the same speech told at the same time in front of the same people all about the same subject. He specifically was talking about your ability to hire and fire whatever health professionals you use for the care you need, or the insurance to pay for it. If you want to pretend that he meant he liked firing Bain's employees, or liked firing the employees of firms Bain took possession of, then there is nothing to say but you are lying.

Not that it matters, but I would prefer to have a president who is NOT afraid to fire people who need to be fired, and who likes that ability. Mr. Obama claims this ability, does he not? What president wouldn't? So the "offense" that leftists like you feel is phoney at best, since even you do the same. Bad service at the restaraunt, and do you want to be FORCED to eat there again? Of course not. Your car mechanic charges too much and doesn't fix the problem, and do you want to be forced to have only him fix your car? Of course not. Your doctor, despite your complaints, fails to deal with them, and do you want to be compelled to see that doctor and only that doctor? Of course not.

So, the question then isn't whether or not you or Mr. Obama agrees with Mr. Romney--you obviously do (what free person wouldn't?)--but why you would argue against Mr. Romney on this point? Since this outsourcing complaint is in our face again...outsourcing is a healthy way for an economy to function. If a product or service becomes too expensive (for whatever reason...taxes, regulations, wage and benefits, et al) to be produced domestically, but there is a domestic market for the product or service, then the production of it will occur off-shore. Outsourcing began centuries ago, it is nothing new. To the extent that any firm Bain invested in moved production overseas in oreder to save the firm from going out of business, then Bain did the right thing.

If you dislike outsourcing you should deal with the market fundamentals which cause it to occur, and you should not get upset at firms who do it. In this latest stink maybe Ralph Lauren should've had the uniforms made in the USA with USA-made fabrics, but this just isn't easily done anymore. The textile industry in the USA has been almost completely wiped out, and what is left is wildly more expensive than what you can get in Nicaragua, or Thailand, or China. So why should Ralph Lauren lose money in order to appease our nationalistic desires?

How about, instead of attacking Bain or Lauren or GE, or any other firm making wise business choices, we look at regulatory costs, legal system costs, wage and benefit costs, and so on, and how we can make those lower so that more firms can produce more items we want right here in the USA? The president has also been using this series of campaign speeches to highlight the need to extend the Bush-era tax cuts that are supposed to sunset at the end of the year for those who make $250,000 or less as well as call for an end to that tax cut for those who make over that amount of money.

I find it very amusing that the Obama Administration wants to extend the ‘Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001’ (EGTRRA) and the Jobs and ‘Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003’ (JGTRRA), except for the those earning over $250,000.00 per year. The Democrats have been crying for years that was a main cause for the recession of Y2009 and the growth in the USA’s national debt.

Everything is G W Bush’s fault, but in the end the Obama Administration wants to keep all things Bush.

And the argument that this is too much to ask, because couples earning $250,000 are "scrapping by" in places like New York City is a crock of crap -- We need to base federal policy on the entire nation. More importantly, if rightwingers are sincere about reducing deficits, we can't keep extending tax cuts especially to the richest 2%.

The Teapublican blackmail and holding the middle class hostage is why the Obama Administration and Dems have had to "keep all things Bush." Heck, the GOP/TP have been trying to block regulations on speculators that cause higher gas prices for consumers and businesses. Along with Teapublicans just filibustering a bill to reduce taxes for small businesses, it's a wonder the economy has improved at all.

Right now we need to over-correct to rebuild the middle class and hopefully restore upward mobility. But eventually when the economy improves enough and folks get back on their feet, we need to remove tax credits for all incomes. What we cannot do is elect a plutocrat like Romney and go back to the GOP/Bush-era policies--on steroids.

I recently saw the clip of Romney saying that he saw his father marching with Martin Luther King. There were two separate occasions where he stated "I saw my father march with Martin Luther King." When a reporter asked him "Did you see that with your own eyes?" Romney pulled a Clinton "it depends how you define the word 'is'". Because, of course Romney never saw any such thing. Listening to him try to redefine the word "saw" was hilarious. He did a pretzel bend, double reverse back flip with a triple twist.

Face it, Romney is a pathological liar. He has no principle he will not abandon if it suits his purpose. He essentially will tell you anything you want to hear and the truth plays no part in most of what he has to say. Now, you may say that all politicians do exactly the same thing, they'll lie for votes. And in most cases you'd be right. But Romney goes way beyond the average fabricator.
