A person holds a sign along S. Independence Boulevard on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, in Virginia Beach, Va., as people wait in line for tickets to see the president Friday at Green Run High School.
The importance of Virginia in Obama getting to 270… Playing defense on defense spending?... The back-and-forth over Bain… And the larger point about Romney and Bain: It’s hard to extricate the two… Condi for VP? Don’t bet on it… Team Romney unveils newest TV ad… RNC goes up with its own ad buy… And “Meet” has Durbin and Kyl.
*** The importance of Virginia: Earlier this week, we looked into the electoral-vote importance of Colorado and Iowa. And now, we turn our attention to Virginia, where President Obama stumps today and tomorrow. Here’s why Virginia -- with its 13 electoral votes -- is so important for Obama: A win there, plus in Colorado, enables him to surpass 270 electoral votes without winning Florida, Iowa, Ohio, and Nevada. But a loss there forces the president to MUST win either: 1) Florida; 2) Ohio; or 3) both of Iowa and Nevada to get to 270. And that’s assuming, of course, that Obama holds on to all the states John Kerry won in ’04. Obama begins his day in Virginia with a campaign event in Virginia Beach at 12:45 pm ET. He then heads to Hampton at 4:25 pm, and concludes his day with a stop in Roanoke at 7:05 pm. Meanwhile, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) hold a press conference in Williamsburg, VA (where the National Governors Association is meeting) to pre-but the president’s travel throughout the state. And don’t forget: In 2008, the vote margin in Virginia (53%-46%) identically matched the national margin (53%-46%).
*** Playing defense on defense spending? In advance of Obama’s swing through Virginia today -- especially its military-heavy presence near Virginia Beach -- the Romney campaign and Republicans are trying to make Obama play defense over the looming defense cuts as part of last year’s budget deal. (Remember, of course, that Republicans insisted that defense cuts -- and not increased taxes -- be part of the “trigger” if the so-called Super Committee didn’t reach a deal on comprehensive deficit reduction.) So yesterday, the Romney camp released this statement from Virginia AG Ken Cuccinelli: “For President Obama to play budgetary Russian roulette with national defense is shameful. The damage to our local economy here in Virginia will be enormous.” Added Gov. McDonnell: “The President has put our defense budget on course for radical cuts that even his own Secretary of Defense says will be ‘devastating’ to U.S. national security.”
*** The back-and-forth over Bain: Yesterday, the Obama and Romney campaigns waged a furious back-and-forth over this question: When did Romney really leave Bain Capital? In 1999? Or later? But largely lost in all of the scrutiny -- over SEC filings showing Romney still listed as Bain’s CEO after 1999, or a Fortune report on documents showing that Romney didn’t manage Bain’s investments after that date -- is this larger point about Romney and Bain: It’s very hard to extricate the two. In other words, there isn't a simple line of demarcation to say, "Romney left Bain Capital in 1999, end of story." Indeed, as the Boston Globe reports, Romney didn't "finalize a severance agreement with Bain until 2002." And it also notes that Romney classified his separation from Bain in 1999 as a "leave of absence" and not a final departure. As Romney adviser Matt McDonald told Politico, "[Romney] was on the SEC filings because he was still technically the owner, but hadn't transferred ownership to other partners.” Technically the owner? What’s more, according to the Globe, "state financial disclosure forms indicate he earned at least $100,000 as a Bain 'executive' in 2001 and 2002." (A campaign official says that payment was part of his retirement compensation agreement.)
Daily Rundown guest host Luke Russert talks about the Obama and Romney campaign's latest accusations towards each other. Russert also talks about a new CBS News interview in which Obama conceded that he hadn't done a good enough job inspiring Americans.
*** And the larger point here: The bottom line: Yes, Romney may very well have given up day-to-day operations of Bain Capital in 1999; as the Romney campaign puts it, he was devoted full-time to the Olympics. And that's the contention of fact-checking sites like the Washington Post and FactCheck.org. But the evidence also suggests that Romney's complete -- and official -- departure from Bain isn't as clear cut.
*** Condi for VP? Don’t bet on it: Well, we learned last night that the Drudge Report -- with its close ties to the Romney campaign -- still has the power to change the subject, at least for several hours. Its provocative headline: “Romney narrows VP choices; Condi emerges as front-runner.” But if you believe that Rice (who has never held elective office, who is closely tied to George W. Bush’s unpopular foreign-policy decisions, and who supports abortion rights) is going to be Romney’s VP pick, we have some oceanfront property in Nebraska to sell you. In fact, this tweet from prominent conservative Erick Erickson should settle things for everyone: “Multiple assurances from Team Romney tonight that Condi is not happening for Veep.” Meanwhile, a fundraising pitch from Romney Campaign Manager Matt Rhoades seemed to suggest that Romney’s VP choice isn’t happening soon. “Sometime between now and the Republican convention, Mitt will be announcing his choice for VP,” Rhoades writes. “Know what's even more exciting? Every week until the VP announcement is made, one lucky supporter will win the chance to meet Mitt and his choice for VP.” If Romney is announcing his pick next week, then this contest doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
*** Team Romney’s newest TV ad: The Romney campaign is up with another TV ad this morning fighting back on the negative attacks it’s receiving from the Obama campaign. The ad quotes Obama during his 2008 nomination acceptance speech in Denver. “Because if you don’t have any fresh ideas, then you use stale tactics to scare voters. If you don’t have a record to run on, then you paint your opponent as someone people should run from… You make a big election about small things.” The ad concludes with this screen shot: “We expect more from a president.” But remember this little rule in politics: If someone is complaining about negative TV ads, that usually means they’re working…
*** And the RNC purchases its own ad buy: And speaking of TV ads, we learned yesterday that the Republican National Committee is going up with a $5.1 million ad buy in the battleground states of Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia. This is the RNC’s first TV buy of the general election. Why is the RNC getting into the act? Remember we told you earlier this week that the Romney campaign is being outspent right now because it can’t use general-election funds until after the GOP convention? Well, don’t be surprised if the RNC is now hitting the airwaves to help make up the difference -- and more.
*** On the trail: In addition to Obama campaigning in Virginia today, Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan attend fundraising events for Romney… Rick Perry stumps for Romney in Nevada… And Rudy Giuliani attends the opening of a Romney campaign office in Virginia.
*** On Meet the Press: On Sunday, NBC’s David Gregory interviews Dem Sen. Dick Durbin and GOP Sen. Jon Kyl.

If you have zero ethics and enough smarts - you can make a lot of money. But it will not recommend you for the job of U.S. President. Folks will delve into your past. And those who stand to benefit from your alliance will try to cover your tracks. Despite evidence to the contrary, the Romney campaign claims "Governor Romney left Bain Capital in February of 1999 to run the Olympics, and had no input on investments or management of companies after that point."
1. However, according to financial filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission: Mitt Romney remained Bain's "Sole stockholder, Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, and President" all the way through 2002.
2. Romney told Congress he took a "leave of absence" from Bain in 1999. The 2012 campaign morphed this into "Retired".
3. But even that cover has been blown, by documents proving that Mitt Romney was the sole owner of five new investment partnerships all created in 2002 - when he was still Bain's CEO.
As the man in charge of Bain until 2002, not only was Romney legally responsible for the oversight of the company, he can no longer contend he had no say in investments/managerial involvement from 1999 to 2002.
Strike three – YOU'RE OUT Willard;
But according to Securities and Exchange Commission documents uncovered by the Boston Globe, TPM, and Mother Jones, Romney's misrepresentations extend beyond partisan policy disagreements. He has lied about his main qualification for seeking the presidency: his own business record:
Willard has plenty of splainin to do & for everyday he refuses to answer, the hotter the heat is gonna get!
Then there are also the pesky felony charges he may face with the SEC...
He better start singing like a canary... this isn't going to magically disappear on it's own!
Baseless Bain Bombshell(s)
Good grief, now the Obama people have really jumped the shark by insinuating Romney is a felon. As the WaPo Fact Checker put it; "The Obama campaign is blowing smoke here." Enough smoke to earn three Pinocchios:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/do-bain-sec-documents-suggest-mitt-romney-is-a-criminal/2012/07/12/gJQAlyPpgW_blog.html?hpid=z2
But this is just the latest in a series of outright lies the Obama campaign has pushed about Romney and Bain – lies that independent fact checkers have consistently debunked. Romney's position on when he left Bain has been previously corroborated by the WaPo as well as FactCheck.org and Fortune Magazine:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/mitt-romney-and-his-departure-from-bain/2012/07/12/gJQAASzUfW_blog.html
Glenn Kessler demolished the misleading Obama assertion that Romney's tax rate is "much less than what many middle American families pay." That little gem earned three Pinocchios as well:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/obamas-misleading-tweet-on-romneys-taxes/2012/07/06/gJQAN3DTSW_blog.html?hpid=z3
And both Kessler and FactCheck.org debunked the Obama campaign's garbage about Romney outsourcing jobs:
http://factcheck.org/2012/07/factcheck-to-obama-camp-your-complaint-is-all-wet/
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/obamas-new-attacks-on-romney-and-outsourcing/2012/06/29/gJQA5FbbCW_blog.html
Ummm, can anyone see a pattern here? The Obama people are engaging in consistent and systematic distortions of the truth. And they don't give a damn that their lies can be easily debunked because they're betting that most people will absorb the negative Bain headlines and not bother with delving into the details of why those headlines are misleading. Which is kind of typical of the left, if they didn't have low information voters on their side they wouldn't have many voters at all.
But the real takeaway is this tactic is a sign of desperation: when you can't run on your record, then talk about anything else but your record – and demonize your opponent's record in the process. Good luck with that, Obamaphiles. Your man may be able to run away from his record, but he can't hide from it – as Romney is constantly reminding us.
This news is sure to make all the FR lefty liberals angry as Hell.
Those evil Wall Street “banksters” at JPM lost their own stockholder’s money in bad trades costing $4.4 billion, and they STILL MADE A QUARTERLY PROFIT OF $4.96 BILLION. Not a penny of taxpayer money was lost and these evil bastards will probably get big bonuses for making almost $5 billion in profits for the quarter.
LMFAO@U FR lefty liberals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JPMorgan Profit Declines on $4.4 Billion Loss From 'Whale'

JPMorgan Chase, the biggest U.S. bank, said it had generated $4.4 billion of credit trading losses in its London offices, but posted overall profit that was barely dented by the trades.
Net income was $4.96 billion, or $1.21 a share, compared with $5.43 billion, or $1.27 a share, a year earlier. Results for both periods included special items. Analysts had expected earnings of 70 cents per share.
The derivatives portfolio lost $4.4 billion before taxes for the period, up from the $2 billion disclosed on May 10, the company said on Friday.
The bank lost money on bad derivatives trades in its Chief Investment Office, but said the events were isolated to the CIO, and that it has overhauled the group.
"Importantly, we have put most of this problem behind us and we can now focus our full energy on what we do best —serving our clients and communities around the world," JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon said in a statement.
It's Friday and things continue to be upside down. This week we heard Republicans embracing President Clinton. Apparently Reagan lost his appeal when it became clear (finally) that he did indeed raise taxes. What's really going on is the Reagan Republicans have disappeared and the Party has now become Chameleons. It's true. Day to day these guys change their values and convictions. One day they are against taxes the next day they want to tax your employer healthcare. One day they are screaming about high debts and deficits and the next day they are writing bills that are unpaid for. This week they told you they care about you and your family and then turned around and tried to repeal healthcare for 50 million people, without offering a plan to replace. This is what the new conservatism is all about. Changing to suit their purpose FOR A DAY. Tomorrow they will change again. Call them the Party of Chameleons.
Mitt Romney's hokey line "I retired from Bain in 1999" --- is to distance himself Bain Capital hostile takeovers, bankruptcies, corporate raiding and outsourcing of jobs after that date. And the disastrous fallout on communities and thousands of ordinary American families who were abruptly severed without work, healthcare, pension plans or severance pay - at his doing.
But now we know Romney was in charge of Bain through 2002. Romney's current and grave concern is evidence of his connection to Stericycle, a company that disposes of aborted fetuses.
An SEC document filed by Stericycle on November 30, 1999 names Mitt Romney as the sole Bain executive in control of Stericycle's and the holder of "voting and dispositive power" on its large stock.
He has evaded the truth about dealing in fetuses to the American public - and lied to the Fed. concerning his involvement & responsibility for Bain's activities post-February, 1999.
It has been confirmed that David Axelrod is using the screen name of Feisty Redhead on MSNBC.
So, yesterday I come home and find that the left-wing political machine had been hard at work spinning the relatively innocuous speech that Romney delivered in front of NAACP into some sort of racist inspiring attack on the black community. BEYOND PATHETIC. HOW LOW ARE YOU WILLING TO STOOP TO REALIZE YOUR POLITICAL ASPIRATIONS? The current attack coming from the left is so pitiful, that any of the liberals here at Newsvine that have chosen to propagate this narrative should be more than ashamed of themselves. The verbal gymnastics necessary to make such an arguement had the left tying themselves into knots, making this latest attempt to play the race card seem exceptionally desperate, even for liberals. Are you people running that scared? Were you really that afraid that Romney might peel off some of the African-American vote?
I was actually impressed with Romney for having the sack to march out in front of an unfriendly audience and deliver his standard stump speech, despite the fact that he had to know it wouldn't go over well. Apparently now the left is upset that he didn't tailor his speech to accomodate the ethnic difference of the audience with which he was speaking. Does anybody here have even the slightest doubt that had he done so, these same people wouldn't be accusing him of being a racist and a panderer?
Now referring to the ACA as Obamacare has racial overtones even though the right has been using this word to describe the health care bill since it's inception. The economic policies of Ronald Reagan are known as Reaganomics and the tax cuts passed under the Bush administration are known as the Bush tax cuts. Tying a politician's name to his policies when one side or the other deems them to be unpopular is standard fare, is it not?
It must be exhausting (and frankly kind of sad) to spend your life constantly searching for signs of racism in the words and deeds of others. Ironically, in addition to lessening the impact of the charge of racism where it actually exists, falsely accusing others of such a heinous and dispicable thing only exposes the accuser's own bigotry. After all, is it not intolerant prejudgement to assume that racism is inherent in another without knowing for certain the specific intent behind the action that prevoked the charge to begin with?
Considering the alternative, it's times like these that make me proud I'm a conservative.
all this is a joke.
all you have to do is look at the socialists record.
he simply doesn't stand much of a chance and most everyone at MSDNC knows it
Feisty and Don't Carry, good morning,
"Romney got more than $2 million in income from Bain in June."
"The firm today has at least 138 funds organized in the Cayman Islands, and Romney himself has personal interests in at least 12, worth as much as $30 million, hidden behind controversial confidentiality disclaimers."
"Romney's campaign has repeatedly pointed out that he quit the firm in February 1999, but his ties to the firm lasted beyond that date." (Nicholas Shaxson, Vanity Fair)
Mitt Romney, poster boy for Big Money and GOP/Koch - has been betting for a very long time against America with money in swiss bank accounts, tax havens and shelters.
Firgues of Speech or Lies?
Mitt Romeny is a shameless Imposter; put. Willard is a LIAR. Let's sort out numerous lies. Oh that's right; we can't there is not enough space.
Mitt said he saw his father march wwith DR. MLK. that was a lie. He later said saw was a firgue of speech he used.
Mitt said he left Bain in 1999. It appears that is a lie
Mitt may have commit voter fraud.
If the SEC filings are falsifed that is a a lie and posssible felony.
R-money does not deserve the presidency. He cannot be trusted. Mrs. R-money said --Let's unzip Mitt. Okaaaaay, we have and we got a is a mad, greedy, uncaged aaninmal ; in other words as Rick Santorum said a vulture capitialist.
Mitt think his promises and LIES can be broken . That is why he won't release his tax returns.
Mitt can run; but the firgues on his tax returns when released and his paper trail will follow him; that's is not firgurately speeaking; either.
I thought this was a pretty good article from John King at CNN:
http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/12/politics/john-king-bain/index.html
To me, the key part of the article is this segment:
So according to several Democrats, Romney did not have an active role in the management of the company during the time period in question. As to Pagliuca's explanation of why Romney was on the SEC filings, I can't say that I understand it as I've never been a CEO or major shareholder at a company.
Happy Friday the 13th all!!! :-)
My, how the spin keeps spinning. I think my favorite line of this article was the one about how complaining about negative ads means they are working. Was it not OBAMA who was complaining, a few weeks ago, about negative ads?
I see the story on the Olympic uniforms has not permeated this site. There is bipartisan outrage about it- even Harry Reid denounced the revelation. Also, the American Legion is pretty miffed that there is a teeny, tiny, American flag on the right breast of the uniform- and a much larger Polo logo on the left. Seems the Ralph Lauren folks did not think through what all the negative publicity would do to their company. It won't be pretty.
Ah, well, Friday again. Gotta run, but
Here is what else happened this week:
The jobs report for June was seen by everyone as pretty lousy; everyone, that is, except for Obama. His "visions" led him to believe that this report was actually good news
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/07/06/obama_jobs_report_a_step_in_the_right_direction.html
So, things are going great-in the land of plaid skies, that is. Here in the real world, things are looking pretty bleak
http://news.investors.com/article/617233/201207061636/disability-climbs-faster-than-jobs-under-obama.htm
Maybe more people on disability than with jobs is Obama's definition of the "right direction".
The unemployment report, on closer reading, was even worse than at first glance, if you factor in a civilian labor force which is at 1980 levels, as well as the seasonal adjustments
http://behavioraleconomy.gallup.com/
Obama continues to tell Americans he has worked himself dizzy trying to improve the jobs picture- and points to his stimulus program as proof. You may recall that hundreds of billions went out the door to bolster state employee unions- to say nothing of Obama donors with investments in "green energy" programs, which then promptly went bankrupt. Well, silly you for thinking that money was supposed to create employment opportunities
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/07/12/doe_official_loan_program_wasnt_about_job_creation.html
See? I TOLD you it was a Dollars to Donors program. This is perhaps why Obama is now telling us, in slightly different terms than in 2010, that the reason he has failed is not just Bush, the Japanese tsunami, the Arab Spring, the Eurozone, an earthquake in the D.C. Area that knocked over a couple of lawn chairs- it's that WE don't appreciate him
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/07/12/obama_biggest_mistake_of_presidency_was_inability_to_sell_policy.html
The break up line is usually, "it's not you-it's me";Obama turns that one around. Seems we got tired of having our ears talked numb, and started demanding positive results. How unfair is THAT?!?!
In other news, Obama has ANOTHER new campaign slogan-he's now "Betting on America". To do what? Double down on stupid?
Romney bested Obama in fundraising again last month- by more than $35 million. That's okay, though, because Obama's super PACs are also struggling, and he is overspending his campaign accounts-so all is well in Obamaland. Also, Obama has a strategy to combat the perception that losing the fundraising battle is cause for concern-he claims McCain out raised him
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/07/06/obama_claims_he_was_outspent_in_2008.html
Desperation is causing Obama to show some pretty ugly truths about himself- one of which is that he is a fabulist; the other, that he is a whiner who keeps harping on people who have maxed out to his campaign that he needs more money. Unfortunately, some of his supporters have their own ideas about how to support him
http://www.politico.com/blogs/click/2012/06/mila-kunis-will-break-the-law-for-obama-127757.html
Uh, Mila? I'm pretty sure he'd rather have the cash. I'm also pretty sure the people whose neighborhoods you deface would prefer you send cash, too.
On the other hand, perhaps Mila does not want her hard earned money to be used on ads that are so easily debunked
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/07/12/romney_tv_ad_how_can_we_trust_obama_to_lead.html
Or like this
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/obamas-misleading-tweet-on-romneys-taxes/2012/07/06/gJQAN3DTSW_blog.html?wprss=rss_fact-checker
Of course, an hysterical media shrilly trumpets the Obama campaign talking point: The Bain attacks are effective! Look at the polls! They were tied before the ads! They're tied today! See?! Sadly for the media, no one trusts them
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/11/gallup-poll-confidence-tv-news_n_1664429.html
I don't supposed doctored tapes, skillfully edited interviews, and laughably false pronouncements have any impact on these numbers.
In party news, Ohio democrats seem to be taking lessons on "how to misuse funds and create chaos for your party" from North Carolina democrats
http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/07/trouble-brewing-for-obama-camp-in-ohio-128151.html
Well, at least the Obama camp was successful in getting this guy to resign, unlike the chairman of the party in NC. He's still there-despite misusing funds for a "hush money" payoff, to say nothing of the defamation lawsuit working its way through the courts. Just another day in democrat-utopia.
Speaking of the media-while we get no news about the investigation into leaks of classified information that make Obama look like a "manly man", there is nothing so top secret as the identities of the folks who win the "dinner with Obama" raffles. Strange, is it not? You'd think whoever won the Clooney Contest would have made the news by now-but, perhaps, Obama has a Donor Protection Program? Well, now there's a new raffle nobody wins- coffee with Biden
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2012/07/win-a-cup-of-coffee-with-biden/1#.T_gtZyp5mK0
I hate to bring it up, because I know the media distaste for anything even remotely negative about their cult idol- but offering a prize and not awarding said prize has a name- FRAUD. So, maybe somebody should look into it-like, maybe, a reporter? Just saying.
Desperate times, they say, call for desperate measures- and desperate democrats have lowered the bar for unacceptable behavior so low they have to reach up to find the bottom. Their latest tactic is to intimidate the families of republicans- by sending stalkers to their homes
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0712/78217.html
I suppose democrats believe it is fine to post addresses on YouTube for any crazy to access. Heck, if a small child gets kidnapped, that's politics!
Speaking of politics, The Hill is out with a poll that shows that the vast majority of people believe that, indeed, Obama did bring about change for the country. Before liberals stand on their chairs shouting "Hurrah!", I should add that these same people believe that the change was for the worse
http://thehill.com/polls/236627-hill-poll-majority-feel-obama-has-changed-country-for-worse
I'm going to go out on a limb, here, and suggest that the 1 in 5 democrats who think his change has caused them to abandon all hope for their party are former democratic representatives, senators, governors, and state legislators- you know, the ones that got run out of office in 2010, thanks to Obama- as well as those smart enough to realize that the republican party will not be so helpful as to put forth a one man resurrection team for democrats. (it's kind of funny- many, many, democrats, and almost the entire media, thought of Obama as "the messiah". Little did they know that the Lazarus he would bring back from the dead would be the republican party!)
So, those who hoped for a change found out that, well, there are all kinds of changes- not all of them good. Still, he kept the change promise- now, one can only hope Obama keeps this campaign promise
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/07/10/obama_this_will_be_my_last_political_campaign_no_matter_what.html
Obama shelved in 2012.
MITT ROMNEY, MASTER OF HOSTILE TAKEOVERS:
"Sankaty High Yield Asset Investors Ltd., an entity based in Bermuda, was set up in 1997 and transferred to Ann Romney's blind trust in January 2003.
In securities filings, it's called "a Bermuda corporation wholly owned by W. Mitt Romney," but Romney failed to disclose it on several financial disclosure forms until he listed it on his 2010 tax return.
However, his tax return did have 55 pages detailing transactions with foreign entities."
(Shaxson)
With two Bush's costly wars winding down, the nation finally can breath easier, fiscally. But these Republicans try to keep the same level of defense spending, continue the extra fiscal burden, soffocate nation's economy, but blame it on Obama, tying the president's hands.
They Love the President in Virginia!
Mitt is scared to reveal his tax returns, he made so much money! I'm glad we have a president from the 99% that isn't afraid to reveal everything about himself!
Obama 2012 - He is so HOT!
Please forgive the typos my computer is freezing. I thought I had fixed the hard drive. I just hope you'll all got the message.
Mitt Romney remained Bain's "Sole stockholder, Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, and President" all the way through 2002
Mitt is a Figurative Liar!!!
Here is the latest from Rasmussen, the most accurate pollster over the last two presidential elections – this is among 'Likely Voters', which is much more accurate than polls of 'Registered Voters' since polls of Registered Voters typically overstate the Democrat by about 4% compared with actual results (Republicans are more likely to vote);
Electoral Votes for Obama (strong + leaners) = 246
Electoral Votes for Romney (strong + leaners) = 192
There are 7 'Battleground States' – CO, FL, IA, NC, OH, VA, WI. In those states, Romney has a slight lead in FL, IA, NC, OH and WI, with 78 Electoral Votes which would bring him to the magic number of 270 Electoral Votes to win. In the other two states of CO and VA, with 22 Electoral Votes the candidates are exactly tied among Likely Voters.
One other point worth mentioning is that 'Undecided Voters' typically go to the challenger (Romney in this case) by anywhere from 60% to 90%, and with about 8% in the 'Undecided' column, Romney has a distinct advantage at this time – the 'best guess' at this time is Romney with 292 Electoral Votes to 246 for Obama. But of course the election is months away, and anything could happen. The link is as follows;

Countdown to Election Day: 116 days Outsource Obama/Biden/Holder 2012
Good morning Backhouse. Happy Friday!
Why won't Romney release his tax returns? That's today's MILLION dollar question. Ha!
Great informative posts today.
Mr. Bill full of Broccoli,
No one is demonizing Willard, you see the problem for him is, he is running on his record as a business man.
It's not the Democrat's fault he's as shady as they come... lol
I wonder if his hand-cuffs will be plain old silver or the platinum he's accustomed to!
PS: Then again, if Willard would release his tax records, we could clear this little mess up right now...
@Fools Gold - So when we state the truth, you right wing wackos try to spin it as us trying to spin it. Nice! If that is all you can come up with, you have already lost. Don't go away mad, just go away.
It wasn't the sack that allowed him to go out there, it was stupidity. He just doesn't get why what he would have to say would get him "Boo'd". He doesn't get it, and he can't sell it.
As soon as he wakes up and starts fighting for the people of the USA instead of Heads of Corporations with their cigar smoking white boys club attitude, then maybe i would be able to take you you wrote seriously. Until then.... Yes, he is racist and a bigot.
74% of the voting electorate is white.
good luck O... the white guilt is gone.
The latest discoveries surrounding Bain leave only two possibilities;
-Romney was actively involved in managing Bain and is lying to the American people about his involvment in "offshoring" and bankruptcy for profit
or
-Romney was actively involved in lying to investors and the SEC about his lack of involvement in the activities of Bain and therefore was in criminal violation.
You can't parse between those things. It's one or the other...which is why Conservatives are working so hard to bury the whole thing entirely.
Why do we still need all such defense spending level, with 2 wars winding down? Having the capability to destroy the world - say - 100 times is still not enough? Republicans want to raise the capacity of destroying it to 101 times, or more?
Even from the Republican angle, it's a good idea to reduce defense spending a little bit now, grow the economy. An economically stronger US can in the end allow more money into defense in the future.
Obama's campaign is getting as pathetic as his leadership.
Hey Mr. Romney, don't even bother with that clown, get your message out and he will be toast.
Obama smiled and interjected, "Shovel-ready was not as ... uh .. shovel-ready as we expected." The Council, led by GE's Jeffrey Immelt, erupted in laughter
Another bad week for Romney with no end in sight. He didn't sign a severance agreement with Bain until 2002. Between 1999 and 2002 he did sign documents creating 5 additional companies. He was the CEO in charge. At this point he would rather lie to the American people than to the SEC.
Don't Carry,
GOP/Koch plans to win on Big Lies, Big Deception and Big Money. Check out the no-Press event in Wyo yesterday. We know very well that not a word of truth was spoken. Look how gross Romney was at the NAACP.
Romney's party is all about income inequalilty on steroids. The party of super-rich elites launching an assault on the middle and working class using vast amounts of cash from corporate raiding.
They just want a so-called President who will sign on to more tax cuts for the wealthy & transnationals, deregulating up the Wazoo, disenfranchizing ordinary Americans, and re-writing the Constitution for their own gain.
I like to think of Obama as the Kenyan Killer! I picture him pulling that trigger on Osama Bin Laden, what a hero!
Frank, I can agree that it is unclear when Romney left Bain Capital. The problem is Romney wants it both ways. He said when trying to establish residency in Massachusetts to run for governor that although being in Utah to run the Olympics, he continued to come to MA for board meetings etc. Board members are involved in running companies. His campaign also uses the time frame after he "left" (after 1999) to calculate how many jobs he "created", but he is not responsible for plant closures during that same time period. He also continued to get paid a salary....Sounds suspicious.
I also have problems believing that you are the sole owner and stockholder and leave your "business" without looking back. This is not a smart business decision, and given all the money Mitt Romney made in business, I am sure this was not the case.
You just cannot have it both ways.
While I agree with your sentiment about not needing as much defense spending, I don't see a big difference between Obama and Romney on this issue. Yes, Obama wants to slow the growth in defense spending by a little bit (not much), but neither candidate is actually talking about cuts. To me, they both seem like defense hawks.
I am going to wait before I pass judgement, but I will not be totally in line with my conservatives friends on here. Although if the latest "revelation" involves the SEC and other entities, I don't expect Romney to make any statement -- other than what is camp said in the asking for an apology -- to make a statement now. It only makes sense that he will have to have sessions with his attorneys to see if this is defensible or not. If it is not then I will be the first on here asking Mitt Romney to step aside and open the convention up to a candidate that does not have this baggage. I don't want this election to be about voting for the lesser of two evils. I know that I do not want to see the president re-elected. His policies and views -- I believe -- are not right for this country. Obviously I am not alone in that position, but I want a candidate that can receive positive votes rather than negative votes.
As for the tax returns, Gov. Romney needs to release them ASAP. He is wealthy and if he has done every thing legally by protecting his money in those means, then the vast majority of people don't care about his wealth. I can only wish I had his options but I don't envy him or say he is not one of us in this regard. Being wealthy and successful legally is something to be commended. In business, not everyone thrives and there will be those not happy or even hurt, but as a CEO one has a job to do. This is a great skill and the experience needed (ala Bill Clinton said so) to run this country.
If he has offshore accounts. So be it. I don't care. If there are years he had extremely favorable tax years by using the tax laws legally and properly and all of this has passed the IRS smell test. So be it. I don't care. It is his right and has nothing to do with anything other than personal finances.
If I had enough money to "bet against America" as to where I would invest under this current administration then I would do it. I would take advantage of it. Doesn't make me unAmerican, just makes me a smart investor not to all me eggs in one basket.
Makes you wonder what else is hidden in Romney's tax records, doesn't it Ron?
Backhouse:
Good points in all your posts. Lest we not forget Stericycle, Romney's company that disposed of human fetuses.
Mitt Romney – I took a leave of absence starting in 1999
Bain Capital – Mr. Romney retired in 1999
Mitt Romney – While heading the Olympics I traveled back to MA several times to attend Board Meetings (to prove his state citizenship so he could run for Governor).
Former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough said this morning that Mitt Romney has a serious problem with Bain and the SEC.
It seems like the Democratic PR machine is splitting hairs on Bain. From what I've read, Romney was effectively done in 1999, he just didn't sign some paperwork until a few years later. He did receive some money in between, but not enough to indicate significant involvement, and the "part of retirement package" makes perfect sense given the relatively small amount of money involved ($100k is a lot to me, but it's pocket change in that market).
John:
Good morning: I'm thinking Romney would die of a 1000 cuts than release his tax returns. There has to be some significant material there...or else he would have released them already.
Figures of Speech or Lies?
Mitt Romney is a shameless Imposter; simply put, Willard is a LIAR. Let's sort out his numerous lies. Oh that's right; we can't; there is not enough space.
Mitt said he saw his father march with DR. MLK. That was a lie. He later said "saw" was a figure of speech in the dictionary which he used figuratively as in envision. It was still a lie.
Mitt may have committed voter fraud.
Did Mitt Romney Commit Voter Fraud In Massachusetts in 2010?

If the SEC filings are falsified that is a a lie and possible felony.
R-money does not deserve the presidency. He cannot be trusted. Mrs. R-money said --"Let's unzip Mitt". Okaaaaay, what we got is a mad, greedy, un-caged animal; in other words as Rick Santorum said a "vulture capitalist"!!!
Mitt think his promises and LIES can be broken . That is why he WON'T RELEASE HIS TAX RETURNS. Mitt can run; but the figures on his tax returns when released will reveal ( a possible felony in conjunction with the SEC filings). Also, his paper trail of LIES will follow him too and that's not figuratively speaking; either.

Obama/Biden 2012
Backhouse Really thinkprogress for honest reporting. This article is on FACTCHECK.ORG. Shows that the Obama Administration is not telling the truth. Could be because they know that the real outsourcer is Obama. Finland, Canada, China and so on. All you liberals quit whining about Romney's tax returns, nothing there if there was Obama's DOJ and IRS would have already reported to Obama Administration. We know that it has already been checked extensively. Funniest line I heard was that the Obama Administration and Holder want transparency from Romney on Bain Capital and release all documents pertaining to those years after he relinquished control of Bain to a democrat. Maybe he should claim CEO privilege. HaHa. All those outsourcing jobs, corporate raiding done after Romney left and a Democrat took over, how ironic.
New reporting cites strong evidence that Mitt Romney wasn’t actively managing Bain Capital while he was running the Olympics, despite what the Obama campaign (and some news reports) would have voters believe.
Dan Primack, a senior editor at Fortune Magazine, reports on previously confidential “offering documents” that Bain circulated to potential investors in June 2000, September 2000 and again in January 2001. And he says that in each of those three documents Romney’s name is conspicuously absent from lists of senior investment managers at Bain.
This has become a key point of contention, because Obama TV ads accuse Romney of shipping U.S. jobs overseas. We reported that the Obama campaign had failed to back up its claims (“Obama’s ‘Outsourcer’ Overreach,” June 29), partly because Romney had left Bain in February 1999 to run the 2002 Winter Olympic and wasn’t actively in charge of the company at the time.
But the Obama campaign objected, claiming that Romney remained a part-time manager even while he was living in Utah and running the Olympics. We responded, finding the campaign’s evidence “weak or non-existent.”
Since then some other reporters have weighed in on Obama’s side. Articles in Mother Jones magazine and the Talking Points Memo website, and most recently a front-page Boston Globe story on July 12, all cite documents filed by Bain with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The TPM piece noted that in documents from July 2000 and February 2001 Romney listed his “principal occupation” as “Managing Director” of Bain, for example. And the Globe story reported that Bain repeatedly listed him on government filings as the man in charge.
On a media conference call about the Globe story, Stephanie Cutter, Obama’s deputy campaign manager, said the story proves that Romney had “full control” of Bain during this time and “therefore directly responsible” for decisions made at companies in which Bain invested. “Either Mitt Romney, through his own words and his own signature, was misrepresenting his position at Bain to the SEC, which is a felony. Or he was misrepresenting his position at Bain to the American people to avoid responsibility for some of the consequences of his investments,” Cutter said.
But we see little new in any of these SEC filings, and a University of Pennsylvania Law School professor we spoke to sees no basis for the Obama campaign’s claim that Romney committed a felony.
None of the SEC filings show that Romney was anything but a passive, absentee owner during that time, as both Romney and Bain have long said. It should not surprise anyone that Romney retained certain titles while he was working out the final disposition of his ownership, for example. We see nothing to contradict the statement that a Bain spokesman issued in response to the Globe article:
Jill E. Fisch, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and co-director of the Institute for Law and Economics, said Romney would not have committed a felony by listing himself as managing director — even if he now claims he had no role in running the company after February 1999. There is no legal obligation to describe how active one is in the day-to-day management of the company, she said. And just because he held title of managing director doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s responsible for decisions like layoffs or outsourcing.
“If that really mattered to investors, they might consider that a civil liability, but we wouldn’t be talking about a felony,” she said.
We would reassess our judgment should somebody come up with evidence that Romney took part in specific management decisions or had any active role (not just a title) at Bain after he left to head the Olympics. But nothing we’ve seen directly contradicts Romney’s statements — which he has certified as true under pain of federal prosecution — that he “has not had any active role” with Bain or “been involved in the operations” of Bain since then.
And we wish to note, we’re not alone in this judgement. Others include:
Mitt Romney your a liar. Your campaign people are liars. Your Fox News people are liars. Russ Limburgers a liar. And your supporters are liars. Don't believe me? Check the facts. Bain retirement. Offshore accounts. Shipping work overseas. No association with Bain after1999. Insults the NAACP and insults the entire Black Community. And the list goes on and on. And you fools want to elect this liar President? Can't you see the handwriting on the wall if you should elect this liar President? Come on, wake up, this guy is dangerous. He's not his own man, he's controlled by others who only have THEIR INTERESTS at heart. Not yours.
And we want to see your tax returns.
OBAMA IN 2012.
Fool's gold,
'it's times like these that make me proud I'm a conservative."
The the party of NO formerly known as the GOP, are currently debating a Farm bill in the House.
What are they arguing over?
The tea party wants more cuts to the food stamp and school lunch programs. These programs provide a safety net for the poor and WORKING poor. The CBO has stated that the rise in food stamp program is due to the severe recession we are slowing working our way of of over time. They further estimate that SNAP costs will fall back to their 1995 level by 2019.
School lunch programs are also being cut. They serve children who are in famiies at the povety level. That is currently a family of four with an annual income of $23,050. or less.
Here in MN 37.3% of school age children receive benefits from the school lunch program and 15% of our children live at or below the poverty level.
Being a proud conservative is one thing, taking food away from children is a whole different matter.
Food's Gold,
How many children in your state will be affected by the conservative house members who want to further reduce the food programs for families and children?
MaoZeObama
Maine has the largest percentage of white people in the U.S., and President Obama leads Romney here 49%-35%. There goes your theory that all white people are stupid.
I see NJNB is back with posting a lot of stupidity and thinking it makes her somehow worth reading. Tip - it doesn't.
Backhouse and Feisty - great posts. Looks like the walls are beginning to close in on old Mitts. He wasn't in charge, no maybe he was, well not quite but really - maybe just a little. Does this sound familiar - just like all the stances Mitt has taken on issues we now find he also takes on his tenure with Bain. This man is a joke that just keeps getting worse with every day.
Obama/Biden 2012
Ben -- For a Republican that post was very reasoned. ; )
Happy Friday!
J H -- Still waiting to hear what Romney's platform is. Why don't you insist he take a stand on something.
Carter led Reagan by 8 percentage points in late October and lost the election by 10. So liberals can certainly take all this polling to the bank, no way it can happen again. Of course Romney isn't about to roll over and take it like McCain did. Obama is going to have his words, his actions, and his lies thrown right back at him when the fall election season begins. A sitting president in a dead heat at this point is really pathetic. Obama will be the first sitting president to be outspent in the campaign, which is again pathetic. Of course it wouldn't matter if Obama had a record to run on, but blame and excuses is not much of a record. Although Obama will be one and done, one was one too many.
As for Amy's comment about Maine being white and not that stupid. Maine is one of the most welfare heavy states in the nation thanks to decades of Democratic Party control in the legislature. So when you have a state with its hand out to the government is it any surprise the citizens are polling in favor of Obama who is the entitlement president? Mainers continually elected the same people over and over and watched as they destroyed the state, so yes plenty of white people are stupid.
Gotta love Romney bringing his own ringers to the NAACP event !!!
We'll have to see what the SEC says. If Romney didn't sign any of the SEC filings, but the person who was really running Bain Capital did, it would appear that Romney is correct, and any sanctions would be against the people who filed erroneous reports, not Romney.
You can still be listed as a officer of a corporation and not have any actual duties, and that's the real issue, isn't it? If indeed Romney turned over the actual operations to someone else, and they took several years to complete the ownership transfer documents, then your allegations of wrongdoing against Romney are totally unfounded.'
I'm sure the SEC will get to the truth, so let's see what happens.
You're obviously a staunch Obama supporter and would like to see Romney trashed, even with falsehoods, but why not wait to see what the truth actually is.
Hi Angie in KY...
If John King's reporting and sources are correct, then Romney didn't have operational input during the time period in question. (I leave it to the reader as to whether or not they trust his reporting and sources). The SEC filings with him listed as major shareholder (or owner or whatever it said) are what needs to be explained. Because I agree with you that as laid out, it seems suspicious. The explanation in the article I quoted above was:
I personally don't know why it takes so long, but I have never been a major shareholder and have to plead ignorance on that. I would think a quick explanation or perhaps meeting minutes or something would help.
Great post and have a great day! :-)
(Edited to add: Ben...great post above)
Can't wait. I'm all for truth.
Yes, Virginia is important and this time around, they KNOW THERE IS NO SANTA CLAUS!

Obama is dressed to impress Virginia, Romney will lose because he was engaged in illegal activity with Bain which is a felony, Mitt the figurative will now be digging his own grave site in jail.
"OBAMA 2012 GUARANTEED"
tempusfugit,
RICE – So you are good with her “Pro Choice” and “Affirmative Action” positions?
@Don't Carry -- Don't be too surprised (thanks for the nice words) but there were a number that crossed over when the realization came that Sen. McCain was not the right person. That is what is so disappointing now from a conservative's point of view especially since we are of the belief that the devil we didn't know in 2008 and we elected is the devil we do know now. Our president is a man that came out of no where with the power to crush the Clinton machine and put fear into anyone that opposed him. A man we know very little about his past but for some reason all the media cares about are the pasts of others. Where are all of his friends from his early years in school and college?? Hell, we don't even know what his grades were or even read unabridged papers/thesis that he wrote on our own.
I have a very bad feeling that Congress will fall totally into Republican hands while a democrat retains the presidency. It was fine under Clinton but this man has no compromise in his being. He has his own agenda and he will make every attempt to force his will on America by bypassing the Constitution and Congress. That is fundamentally wrong and if it were to occur, there would be riots in the streets (literally speaking).
If Romney can't pull out of this with legally backed explanations, then he needs to step aside immediately. The close polls will remain close polls if a new candidate is put forth. Then it is a matter of swaying the fence sitters.
P.S. -- This just out to embolden my point of disappointment. The president is in a position to lose handily if only there was a strong candidate to defeat him.
A preliminary reading on consumer sentiment for the month of July checked in at 72, lower than both the 73.4 expected and a final June reading of 73.2, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters and the University of Michigan. The reading was the lowest since December 2011.
Roy Wilson -
You constantly tout Rasmussen as the "most accurate" pollster, but that statement has NOT been true since 2008. Polling methods were changed, and in the 2010 congressional elections Rassmussen was the LEAST accurate of the major polling organizations.
Rassmussen missed in 2010 by an average of over 5 points, and overstated Republican performance by an average of 4 points. Rassmussen missed in Hawaii by 40 points!
Scott Rassmussen has become increasingly partisan, and his polls have become less accurate.
You also keep stating that the Undecideds break for the challenger - if that is true why was Kerry up by 5 points over Bush at this point in 2004, and the Undecideds broke for Bush?
An open letter to Mitt Romney:
The people of the United States do not want or need a KING or an EMPEROR to RULE US. We don't need a CEO. What we need is someone we can respect. Someone who cares about the people, ALL THE PEOPLE, not just the 1% richest individuals.
We need affordable health care, schools to properly educate our young, cities that are safe and clean, and a above all we need jobs and an economy that is thriving. We need tolerance and acceptance, not wedge issues or rhetoric.
We do not need a man who will say anything to be elected President. We don't need a follower of a religion is that is highly secretive, very wealthy and powerful. We do not need a man who hides his money in off-shore bank accounts and who will not release his tax returns for scrutiny. We do not need a wealthy corporate raider who obviously cared more about the bottom line than the people he put on the unemployment line.
In other words, Mr. Romney, with all due respect, we do not need YOU. Ten years ago you characterized yourself as a "progressive". You supported a health care law that is the model for the Affordable Health Care act you now villify. Now you say you have seen the light and you are a conservative. So, which is it? Are you a progressive, or a conservative or just somebody who will say anything to get elected? How can we believe you? How can we respect your? How can we trust you?
To put it simply, we can't.
Obama/Biden 2012
you people are pathetic..
your "fans" of the democrats so under no circumstances will you EVER vote for a republican and every piece of news will spin negatively.
The people who are deciding this election are watching America's got talent, and the Big Bang Theory. Like it or not they care little for Bain capitol, nor have ever heard of it. What they will hear is - the economy still sucks and Obama has been president.
You can get into your nuanced excuses about previous administrations, european economic instability whatever. Obama has not one single positive contribution to the country. His health care doesn't start until 2014, and trying to sell negatives like "it could of been worse" will not win reelection. Just ask your self .. do you buy a car when the sales guy says.. its not a poorly built as the other brand... then you know the mind of the casual voter..
KNOW THIS: Until SEPTEMBER CARTER was LEADING REGAN.. CARTER conceded that election BEFORE CALIFORNIA HAD CLOSED THE POLLS.. and the country now is a mirror of the country then (though Romney is not Regan that's for sure)
joshua w morris
republican- voted for Obama in 2008.. not doing that again.
Good morning and happy Friday, friends. How do liberals know that the indepth investigation in to Bain is working? Simply read the spinning and deflecting conservative posts.
Shoot, Albany Joe has shifted to JP Morgan Chase's profits as if making a profit justifies the estimated $6, possibly more, billion lost using the same risky bets that collapsed the Global economy, not to mention the havoc wrought on the millions who lost their jobs, their homes, their retirement.
Fairfax Bill is in denial.
A rereg who calls himself MaoZeObama has resurrected the long dead horse named "shovel ready".
FOOLSGold is stuck on the NAACP.
Then comes Grimey (sorry friend) but I see traces of straw grasping. John King leans so far to the right, he's close to tipping over. It is easy to find a few of either party who will say what King or whomever wishes them to say to defend his/her own view. I would suggest those democrats King refers to actually read the investigative reports instead of repeating what Romney and Bain have claimed these past 6 years.
And then Roy Wilson heads off into right field and claims Rasmussen as the most accurate pollster over the past two presidential races. In the words of his fellow conservative....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. The only time Rasmussen comes close to being accurate is near election time when they stop push polling and do a better job of not over-sampling conservatives to keep their credibility; that's fact, not fiction.
Another writer touched on this subject yesterday and it was also mentioned on CNN last night - the real problem will come down to where was Mr. Romney living during that time. Was he really a resident of Mass when he ran for governor? If so then he very like will have to fess up to the Bain mess, if not he was an illegal governor of a state he did not reside in. Which could pose a much larger problem for him than actually deceiving the SEC. By the way rightie friends - the reason no one investigated him was probably due to the fact that the SEC was in GOP hands and pocketbooks during most of that time, and we all know they never investigate their own.
The real issue is "Did Romney have operational control of Bain Capital during the period in question". Everything else is irrelevant, and the evidence is that he did not, which appears to be the truth, so the Obama campaign is just using sleazy Chicago-style tactics.
What works in Chicago should not be the standard that we use in a Presidential election - shame on Obama.
Jody, Iowa "And then Roy Wilson heads off into right field and claims Rasmussen as the most accurate pollster over the past two presidential races. In the words of his fellow conservative....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
Here is information on the accuracy of Rasmussen, who was the most accurate pollster in the 2004, 2008 and 2010 elections;
Presidential Elections
2004 - In the 2004 presidential election, "Rasmussen...beat most of their human competitors in the battleground states, often by large margins," according to Slate magazine.[34] Rasmussen projected the 2004 presidential results within one percentage point of the actual vote totals earned by both George W. Bush and John Kerry.[35] Rasmussen projected 50.2% for Bush (actual was 50.7%), and 48.5% for Kerry (actual was 48.2%).
In 2004 Slate magazine said they "publicly doubted and privately derided Rasmussen" polls because of the methodology. However, after the election, they concluded that Rasmussen's polls were the most accurate.[34]
2008 - According to Politico, "Rasmussen's final poll of the 2008 general election — showing Obama defeating Arizona Sen. John McCain 52 percent to 46 percent — closely mirrored the election's outcome."[36] In reference to the 2008 presidential election, a Talking Points Memo article said, "Rasmussen's final polls had Obama ahead 52%-46%, which was nearly identical to Obama's final margin of 53%-46%, and made him one of the most accurate pollsters out there."[37]
Congressional and gubernatorial
In the 2009 New Jersey gubernatorial race, Rasmussen Reports' final poll predicted that Chris Christie would beat Jon Corzine by a margin of 3 points. Christie won the race with a spread of 4.3 points.[38]
In December 2009, Alan Abramowitz wrote that if Rasmussen's data was accurate, Republicans would gain 62 seats in the House during the 2010 midterm elections.[39] In a column written the week before the 2010 midterm elections, Rasmussen stated his belief that Republicans would gain at least 55 seats in the House and end up with 48 or 49 Senate seats.[40] Republicans ended up gaining 63 seats in the House, and coming away with 47 Senate seats.[41]
Source – Wikipedia
By the way - Slate magazine is a far-left liberal source, so their acknowledgment of Rasmussen's accuracy is telling.
To quote you - "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

Obama/Biden
The left has a very serious problem with double standards. While they are in the continual process of denegrating any GOP/conservative candidate, they dismiss everything a Dem/liberal candidate/office holder does as a superior intellectual tactic. It is becoming more and more obvious that the left actually does believe in their superiority. It's almost to the point where we can truly say, "welcome to the Left Reich."
The elitist attitude carried by most liberals is cause for vomit. The finger pointing is amazing. The left has a blind eye to all the bad their leaders participate in.
The reason for the Obama campaign to lie about the SEC violation is a response to a Romney ad placed a few days ago where they actually have the cajones to point out Obama's lying nature. The ad cited several Obama lies and Romney called him out on it. Of course the natural Obama response, since he's so coddled and worshipped by both himself and his followers was to create a false scandal that all the liberals would jump on. There is no positive proof that Romney violated the SEC rules but the left takes off like a balloon with a bunch of hot air in it to carry the story, no matter how false it may turn out to be... for the moment, the liberals are all being fed their weekly dose of Obama pablum.
Hi Jody...
Not really grasping at straws. Just posting an article I read on my phone this morning that I found interesting. Honestly, I don't know squat about John King's politics. All I know about him is that he is at CNN. Most likely, the best way to get to the bottom of things would be to look at things like meeting minutes and stuff like that. Not sure if that's what Fortune magazine has looked at or not.
Take care! :-)
BrianB -- Be careful as you go through this. Do you think it was just a "poor choice" of words in the soon to be released CBS interview that the president said his biggest failing was not being a good communicator??? Not hardly. Too smart for that and who in their right mind would believe that coming from the Great Orator??? Nah, it is a spin to get the public the believe that his lies were just him not being able to communicate properly.
Man the bull$#it on here is thick. Its hard to tell what side is throwing the biggest chunks of the cow's patty. From what we all have read, I going to say the right wins the contest. They can tell it, throw it and spin it but anyway its still a turd. Put any condiment on it it's still going to taste like $hit! Your presumptive nominee lies or flip-flops on everything. Your presumptive nominee has about the same level of job experience as the President had when he took office. So don't say he does because thats not true. The only experience is he knows how to do is outsource jobs. The President had our biggest enemy killed. The only thing your presumptive nominee has done is kill jobs. But the best thing he has done, was not to admit he imposed a tax an the people of Massachusetts with his insurance mandate. The truth of that must really hurt!
Why does the SEC does not prosecute Romney for a felony? Do they not have enough evidence?
Why does the IRS not prosecute Romney for tax evasion? Is there not enough documentation to proceed?
Or is because in a court of law they know the inane accusations of the Obama campaign will be shown to be lies.
Go ahead, demand that an instigation be initiated. Demand that Romney be prosecuted. E-mail your President to stand behind his accusations. I dare you.
Roy Wilson,
You say Rasmussen was the most accurate polling during the 2008 election. I'd like to differ, and say that Nate Silver at 538 was spot on in his calculations and predictions. Today, he shows Obama at 294 and Romney at 243. While I agree with you it's only July, but it kind of paints the election in a different light, doesn't it?
Rice for Vice President? Oh please - pick her. Let's see, she ignored reports prior to 9/11 that the US would be attacked using commercial aircraft. Didn't think the airlines should be told because "we didn't know how they were going to do it and we didn't want to spread panic." Well, how'd that work out for ya Condi?
She deleted the fact that she was told that under no circumstances could the metal tubes found in Iraq be used to deliver WMD's. Why? Well, because she could.
She was Bush's lapdog and liar - nothing more, nothing less.
Let her run - she will be decimated by the truth!
Obama/Biden 2012
Thought I would stop by to say good bye to all of you. I haven't given up the fight, and I will still be reading all of your posts, but sometimes it is very hard to sit up and type or else I can't get a decent signal to get on line. I truly enjoy the passion you all show for your candidate. Piece of advice - others besides all you political junkies read these and think of all those in the middle you can influence by civility to each other than being ugly. I love each and every one of you. Feisty, I truly hope my granddaugthers have you zest for life, nojo, even though I ususally disagree with you politically, I bet you were a great teacher and hope my girls get a teacher like you must have been. Gentlemen, you all are truly gentlemen, and I hope my grils meet men like you. Jody and new day, both are ladies with great hearts. Bev, you are so passionate, I hope my girls can find such passion.
I will miss all of you. I will be reading all your comments and maybe say "hello" every now and then. Until later, Bless all of you.
Let me get this straight: I cite numerous independent sources that debunk the Bain crap coming from the Obama campaign, and I'm in denial?? Jody dearest, if you want to see the true face of denial then grab the nearest mirror.
As FR's most active Rasmussen employee stated;
So let's see what the record shows;
http://www.boston.com/news/politics/articles/2012/07/12/government_documents_indicate_mitt_romney_continued_at_bain_after_date_when_he_says_he_left/?page=full
There you go, in the eyes of Bain and the SEC Romney had managerial control over Bain YEARS after he now claims he had no input at the company. So he moves the goalposts, stating;
Of course in the area of corporate governance you can't waive away such matters as easily as one can dismiss any and all evidence of Rasmussen's inaccuracy;
So now it's time to move the goalposts again. That's what proven liars do.
PHINE!!!!!! :-)
Great to see you out here!!! Truly a beautiful post as always! Keep fighting that fight...we are all pulling for ya!!! :-)
JohnB -- Are you curious as I am??? I want to see the documents. They are obviously public domain so I wonder why the Globe did not publish them -- at least not in the link you provided.
Ben, let me add how much I enjoyed reading your post today. It was thoughtful, reasonable and you deserve a "great job" remark today.
phinephancy - I don't know you well but wish you all the best in your fight. You seem to be a very strong person and I hope that helps you through this.
You are in my thoughts and prayers - as is your family.
@Grimey
You have understand that Amy thinks Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow and Laurence O'Donnel are journalists.
I'm still laughing at Maddow being flummoxed on Bill Maher when she claimed that she wasn't partisan and Nick Gillespie call her out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClGCGyKV_Co
From CNN as quoted by Frank Grimes:
I don't consider these organizations "highly reputable" and I don't consider them to be "fact checkers". What they've been mostly checking whether or not various claims and opinions conform to the conventional wisdom. For instance, Glen Kessler of the Washington Post gave Romney only a mild rebuke for the ridiculous lie in the campaign ad he put out misrepresenting Obama quoting a McCain aide saying "if we talk about the economy, we're going to lose" to make it appear that Obama was talking about himself. Same goes for Romney's claim that Obama has "done nothing" on immigration policy.
All we have to go on is Romney's word and the word of current executives at Bain who are supporting the seemingly preposterous claim that Romney did nothing at Bain despite being the CEO, the President, AND the Chairman of the Board. As for these executives being Democrats, so what? Most of the Wall Street Democrats like Jamie Dimon (whose company just lost $5.8 billion due to risky investments) hate Obama because he's imposed more regulations on them that make it harder for them to risk other people's money to support their gambling habit.
The facts are that Romney was listed as being in total control of Bain in the SEC documents during a time that he said he wasn't, and you can't get around that, "fact" checkers who pick and choose their facts notwithstanding.
Almost as tiring as searching for socialism in the words and deeds of others...
Hey Phine, keep fighting the good fight. My prayers are with you.
God's blessing to you phine, and I hope He brings you healing.
Please know that you are in my thoughts daily.
Hey Ben -- Reasonable people can agree to disagree. That's healthy discourse. Thanks for the reply.
As for sentiment, I think the global slowdown and Congress' inability to work together are the reason sentiment is down. Remember, if these guys don't get their act together we will go off the fiscal cliff.
I'm sure we disagree on who is causing the gridlock. ; )
John B, you and your sources are grasping for straws. This will go nowhere because it is nothing. Hot air from the Obama campaign because Romney insulted Obama.
Ben, I heard about that interview. More BS from the chief BSer. I can guarantee you one thing, I will NOT be watching it. I don't need his crap spewed all over my living room floor... Any chance the great orator gets, he will lie to the people in the form of spin anything and everything to make him look good. I don't need that in a president.... we need to get rid of president narcissist.
phinephancy, well said and nice to see you this morning. Best wishes for better days to come for you.
Grimey, good morning to you. I probably should have said the traces of straw grasping were John King's as you were merely repeating him. Guess I owe you a margarita at the DDI.
BrianB -- I can almost bet the entire farm that much of this is coming out now to lessen the reaction to the Movie 2016 that is coming out.
Jody:
Woo hoo!!!!!! Is it Happy Hour yet?? ;-)
Fiesty and all the other ignorant liberals,
Might want to read the article on the fortune site about bain capital funds and romney (google it)
Also, you really shouldn't give the right @!$%# for linking from Fox, CNS, Drudge or any other right wing site when you're linking from thinkprogressive, huffington, etc.
The obama campaign is busy making fools out of themselves, too bad there's so many ignorant people in this country that just reads headlines and believes them, instead of researching to actually find the truth.
Thanks Jody -- I posted the other day that I am done with the name calling. Even if some one on here calls me an idiot or worse, I will not reciprocate.
I sure do wonder why those SEC documents have not been published. Shouldn't they be published?
I also understand that Romney can leave a company he owns and leave the day to day operations to others. He brings on board those he trusts and has trained so as long as his management team in place is making him money legally, then stepping aside and not micro-managing is not a bad decision to make to free him up to do other things like Olympics and campaigning.
@Phine - Keep cuddling those kitties & keep your chin up! We will leave the light on for ya! ☺
♥
Feisty
AlexM - might want to actually take a look at and listen to Romney who is making fools of all of you who are seriously thinking of putting this buffoon into the White House. The ignorance of his supporters - like you - is only overshadowed by your eagerness to show that ignorance.
You don't begin to know the truth about Romney and his backers but will march lock-step in tune with them. You're right - there are too many ignorant who don't bother to find out the truth - and you're one of them.
Obama/Biden 2012
@Dennis, for me, Dr. Rice's pro-abortion position is the least favorable aspect of a very sharp and capable woman, as it irrevocably denies the first spark of opportunity. Mitt Romney is pro-life enough for me and Dr. Rice seems to have enough integrity to maintain the platform elected on while holding office.
I don't agree 100% with her stance on Affirmative Action, but that's life.
ROMNEY/RICE 2012= REAL & EXPERIENCED LEADERSHIP
OBAMA/BIDEN=FRACTURED FAIRY TALE (ala Rocky, Bullwinkle and Bill Clinton)
@Dennis, P.S.: OH-IO !!!
My two cents on the Romney/Bain issue:
1) There are undeniable facts that show Romney retained control and ownership of Bain well after the Feb 1999 date.
2) These facts also show that Romney personally signed SEC documents including filings, incorporation of "spin-offs" or affiliates, and acquisition documents.
3) Facts also show that Romney on more than one occasion stated/testified that he was still in control of Bain and only took a "leave of absence" during the Olympics. Press releases from Bain and statemetns from Romney's lawyer also support the "leave of absence" story.
So no one is arguing that Romney RETAINED control over Bain and it's affiliates, the argument is whether he EXERCISED that control. Legally there may not be enough documentation to prove it either way, so ultimately Romney may be tried only in the court of public opinion.
Roy, nice imitation of Det. Friday from Dragnet,,,,,, "we only want the facts, mam,",,,,,LOL,,,,,,,,,,as can be seen from the multitude of responses, with relevant facts and "if the shirt fits wear it" or "if it stinks like poo, it must be poo", ya gotta admit the REpub. of today have dug themselves a deep hole of intolerance, unlike the past. The G.O.P.'s strategy of picking Pres. candidates with no knowledge or fortitude is apparent in the last 7 elections. They are cronies of the establishment, contrary to old school Republican values.....Even they themselves attacked their,Mitt during the debate on the Bain Capital issue........... Do you see that on the Dem. side?
Like I said before, "used to be one, now I'm not", will not work in the publics' mind.. The Repub. are back to the "silent majority" and "read my lips", social agenda with little personal responsibility involved. Good Day.
TNSEVOL -- Have you seen a link that can provide us a look at the documents? If your last paragraph is the way it falls out, then I can maintain my support for Gov. Romney.
frank, like I said, I just cannot believe that Romney left his company completely in the hands of someone else. That would not be a good business decision, he had to have some input.
I also would like to see him release the minutes of the meeting showing who was in charge.
Roy Wilson #1.64, The U.S. securities and exchange commission place Mitt Romney in charge of "BAIN" from 1999 to 2001 and this is when all the jobs were outsourced, when is this Clown going to stop lying and flip flopping his BS on the American people !!!!!!!!!!! "WHEN"
Ben - the movie is another Republican attempt at "swift boating" a candidate they don't like. Lie after lie is all they'll throw at Obama. It must make you proud that your party has to stoop so low in order to get votes. It's the only way they can.
Obama/Biden 2012
Ben -
No links to the specific documents, just numerous articles stating that they reviewed SEC filings signed by Romney.
www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/07/romney-bain-abortion-stericycle-sec
bostonglobe.com/news/politics/2012/07/11/government-documents-indicate-mitt-romney-continued-bain-after-date-when-says-left/IpfKYWjnrsel4pvCFbsUTI/story.html
The Romney campaign has not disputed the facts of the articles, just the conclusion that he was running Bain. I think either way Romney either represented he was running Bain or claimed he wasn't as it suited his needs.
As I said I think legally it may be hard to prove either way - but it sure is "splitting hairs" to say you signed documents, create spin-offs, and signed acquisition forms but weren't involved. It is also not just one document but several SEC filings, press releases, and sworn testimony.
I guess it depends on what your definition of "actively involved" is.
Roy Wilson -- Guess what? It's 2012. Things change, nothing is static. NOTHING. Just because Rasmussen was accurate in the past in their final polls doesn't mean they are accurate TODAY.
An economics guy would know that.
Voting is no longer important!
As shown in this article, the elections are already decided, through campaign rhetoric and donations!
The Republicans have a credibility problem, given their history of spreading misinformation and practicing character assassination in their campaigns. I mean, a leading birther, Donald Trump, just got Statesman of the Year award from the Florida Republican Party. Republicans have long acted like everything around a candidate is "fair game:" Michelle Obama's college thesis, John Kerry's war record, Bill Clinton's sex life. Now, when the public hears the Romney campaign complain that Democrats are spreading lies about Romney's business dealings, voters just yawn.
Ben - I am under the impression that the Obama campaign is in serious trouble. As you know, Obama cannot run on his record so his legs have been cut off. The only thing Obama has to his campaign is the democrat stand-by... negative campaigning. I find it hard to fathom Obama is doing this because of a movie. It makes more sense that he's doing it in retaliation. You have to realize Obama has lived a coddled political life. He is built up by his associates. He has been told that he can do no wrong. He has been led down the primrose path of his own importance. On top of that, Obama has bought into his own relevance completely.
When Romney ran that ad a few days ago showing Obama is a liar, Obama was cut to the quick and his only reaction was to get Romney back. This is the way a narcissist works. It doesn't matter to Obama that this whole debacle has no bearing on truth... the way he figures it, there's enough hatred for Romney from his base that any story he comes up with will be taken by his base and expounded on. We are witnessing it at this moment. This is only one of many half-truths, lies and general negative campaigning to come from the Obama camp.
Wow, I can't believe all this blow up over when and what took place at Bain Capital. This is just another DEFLECTION by the left and the Obama campaign because they have nothing to run on. So what if some jobs got out sourced, that is what businesses did to make money. Businesses do not operate to ensure job security for employees, they exist to make money for their investors. Look where your TVs, other household appliances, most electronics and other goods used everyday by most of those that are complaining about "outsourcing". I want a President that can show leadership, work on the economy, help businesses create jobs, and maintain a strong military. Obama has failed to show leadership or to bring the country together and has failed to improve employment and the economy. Obama has been the most "blame the previous guy" President in my life time. Obama has been the most divisive President in history. It's time to change leadership in Washington from the President on down to the party leaders in Congress. But the American people always blame or credit the sitting President, while still reelecting the same people to Congress year after year.
Amy - does this mean that you believe the democrats are totally honest, and have a moral fortitude that can't be touched?
I don't care how much money the Koch's, Sheldon Adelson, Bob Perry, etc. spend on Romney's campaign. Doesn't matter if "God" has a female relative willing to run as Romney's VP. Even if Romney could find a physician able to synchronize his vocal cords, lips and tongue by October; the prospect of "Willard Mitt Romney" ever becoming President of the "United States" is effectively "shot to hell". Right wingers can accept this, or they can continue peddling their utter raw bullsh^t. Either, simply, will not change this election outcome, other than continuing to attempt to cover Romney with ragged, unpatched sheets will only increase the size of His defeat. Many Americans are certifiable fools. Most though, are not. This election, for all intents and purposes, for Romney at least, is over. This latest revelation has some bearing on Romney's mess, but another, greater bane awaits Him, should the democrats opt to use it.
@ Fiesty red troll
Oh Fiesty, there you go again, spewing garbage. The Washington post gave the Oblammer Administration 3 Pinocchios for this flat out lie they are pushing. Crawl back under your bridge and shut up.

TNSEVOL "Roy Wilson - You constantly tout Rasmussen as the "most accurate" pollster, but that statement has NOT been true since 2008."
There has only been one major election since 2008 - the mid-terms in 2010, and you seriously think that Rasmussen was wrong then? Show me a more accurate pollster overall in 2010. I don't know of any that predicted the Republicans picking up more than 55 seats in the House.
As for a supposed 'Republican Bias', in 2004, Rasmussen underestimated the Republican (Bush) margin of victory by 0.8%, and in 2008, Rasmussen underestimated the Democratic (Obama) margin of victory by 1%. In the 2010 midterm elections, Rasmussen underestimated the Republican House wins by 8, and underestimated the Democratic Senate wins by 1.
So-called 'bias' appears to be in the eye of the beholder, not the numbers. Some like to quote an article in the N Y Times as 'evidence' of inaccuracy and bias, but that story is silly because it claims that Rasmussen was biased because he didn't agree with the other pollsters who had an overwhelming Democratic bias when compared with the actual results. People can try to 'spin' the results all they want, but facts are facts – Rasmussen was the most accurate in 2004, 2008 and 2010, and his minimal error rate is pretty well balanced between Democrats and Republicans.
Dont_carry_it_all "Roy Wilson -- Guess what? It's 2012. Things change, nothing is static. NOTHING. Just because Rasmussen was accurate in the past in their final polls doesn't mean they are accurate TODAY. An economics guy would know that."
Agreed. That's why I usually say "It's early, and anything can change". Final polls are still months away, and the only one that really counts is the actual vote total - by state, not nationally.
Now we've reached the stage in which Conservatives practice argument by dismissal. They can't refute the logic or the evidence, therefore the argument itself is not worth having.
Roy -- Glad you agree then that Rasmussen is food for fodder at this time.
I'm with those sitting on the fence on the Bain issue. the details leaning either way are vague and ambiguous. I do agree with Angie that given the circumstances it is "unlikely" Romney had absolutely NO control. I could also throw out the idea, a man with as much business sense as Romney would know to leave things "vague and ambiguous" but that is only speculation.
I will not say anything is definite, and I do not think Mitt is a criminal. I would just hope he would stop reaching in to his Bain Bag only for the positive news while at the same time denying the negative. Hopefully this attack from the left might end that and we can finally get his record at Bain corrrect
And yesterday the genius in chief issued an order to get rid of the work requirement in the welfare reform law. Nice. Let the GovCo dependency roll on!!!!
But by all means, let's worry about Romney's money and tenure at Bain.
Mac Forrester - you really need to grow out of 2008. We now know what Obama's program is all about. He can't do the job. You have to realize that liberals only compose 34% of this country's political make-up. If you think the fire conservatives spread on democrat/liberal candidates in 2010 is over, you have another thought coming. Romney will win, if ONLY to get rid of Obama. We conservatives do not support Obama and independents are falling away from him faster than you can imagine. You may be under the impression the Tea Party has gone away... you'd better think again.
I can understand you hanging on to Obama... it seems he's the only thing you got.
Brianb -- Are you Tea Party? Is so, which group? There are many different groups from what I understand.
Dont_carry_it_all "Roy -- Glad you agree then that Rasmussen is food for fodder at this time."
Sorry to disappoint you, but I only agreed that things (and polls) could change over time.
Obama's 'trend line' is distinctly down, and Romney's is distinctly up, so unless the economy dramatically improves over the next few months, I wouldn't bet on Obama.
Roy -- Not sure about trends as they are come and go. Two polls taken at the same time, asking the same questions will always show different results. As I said, food for fodder.
CNN just reported that if Obama raises taxes on those making greater than $250,000 per year, it will slow down our economy by an additional 1%. Liberals, keep on supporting Obama in all the changes he wants to do to this country. Maybe the liberals want to destroy our economy too.
I wonder how over 40% of America is stupid enough to vote for a Republican again, much less Bush on Steroids.... I mean, Romney's suggestions come right from the Dubya playbook. His promises sound so fantastic: he told Americans that he would "Cut, cap, and balance the budget" in his first term, without raising taxes or cutting defense spending. He even wants to cut taxes across the board by $3.4 trillion over the next decade, ballooning our deficit to over $10 trillion over that same period. Add in perhaps $600 billion in defense increases, and Romney will have to gut nearly a third of the budget just to break even. And right in the time when we should be investing more money in education, infrastructure, and other social programs (while reforming them), he plans to cut them to the bone. This is the new Republican Party; feeding the Military Industrial Complex at the expense of education, infrastructure, and the poor. Is this where we want our country to go???
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
Don't Carry it... I support the Tea Party principals. I believe in their general outlines of smaller government, less taxes, solid fiscal conservative ideals and sanity in government. I have been to Tea Party meetings in both Palm Beach and New Orleans.
My question is, why do you ask?
God speed, Phine.
Freshieee - where do you get your information from? Do you realize that Obama carried many Bush policies forward into his term? Do you type posts just to read yourself and then vote for yourself?
You need to inform the liberals that you have Romney's agenda down pat. So many of them claim Romney hasn't revealed anything yet. Do you use crystal balls?
Here's a story you won't see covered on FR or MSDNC. I wonder if Da Rev. Al's Comedy Hour will be covering it??
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FBI records: agents found no evidence that Zimmerman was racist
Frances Robles and Scott Hiaason | Miami Herald
last updated: July 12, 2012 02:34:47 PM
After interviewing nearly three dozen people in the George Zimmerman murder case, the FBI found no evidence that racial bias was a motivating factor in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, records released Thursday show.
Even the lead detective in the case, Sanford Det. Chris Serino, told agents that he thought Zimmerman profiled Trayvon because of his attire and the circumstances — but not his race.
Serino saw Zimmerman as “having little hero complex, but not as a racist.”
The Duval County State Attorney released another collection of evidence in the Zimmerman murder case Thursday, including reports from FBI agents who investigated whether any racial bias was involved in Trayvon’s Feb. 26 killing.
Patriotic
Corporations do this frequently. Bain appears to have treated Mitt's leaving for the Olympics as a leave of absense. Afterall it was only a short term Gig. They would not need to change the SEC information until after the acting CEO is elevated to official CEO. Regardless, as long as Mitt was under a consultant contract, they can still use his name.
Pathetic is people's understanding of how business works.
The average of likely voter polls from May, June and July shows Romney by a nose. Likely voter - we are voting. Registered voter polls - this is who wins if everyone registered voted.
Roy is correct, Romneys numbers overall were improving, in both types of polls. I see that slowing right now in the last couple of weeks.
Just wanted to know where you stand Brianb. That helps me understand where you are coming from.
I get my info from CNN, and some other sites for confirmation, some liberal, some not. I do realize and oppose the fact that Obama carried some Bush policies, but he did end some of them, and he's a helluva lot better than Bush 2.0 (aka Romney). Besides, a lot of the policies that Obama carried on from Bush (like the Bush tax cuts) where because he was trying to compromise with Republicans.
Nah; I just use what Romney has said and what he has in his 59 point plan: deregulation, fighting unions via right-to-work support, 20% tax cut across the board, extending Bush tax cuts, endorse Ryan budget, etc. You ought to try it.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
It appears about half the respondents didn't even read the article they already had their minds made up. Fact checking sites said he had given up the operation of Bain in 1999. I get it that the far left hates Romney and that's your right but give this one up and find something else. I can tell you most independents like myself don't care about this.
Oh goody, Mr. Obama is on the campaign trail again. I can hardly wait to get some "sound bytes" to add to my list of Mr. Obama's half truths, falsehoods, lies, diversions, and continuous Chicago campaign rhetoric.
Meanwhile, which Democratic voter base is next on getting thrown under the ObamaWagon ?
Suggestion for the Obama camp: ECONOMY. Remember, after nearly 2 1/2 years in office (the President assumes responsibility for ALL domestic and International affairs once sworn into office) Mr. Obama announced "The economy was HIS".
@Brianb: As I said. Many Americans are fools. Most though, are not.
Freshieee - How can you say he's a hell of a lot better? What has he done to prove he's better? Has he been business friendly to help lower unemployment? Hasn't he offshored jobs to other countries? Didn't he promise to lower the deficit by half before he ended his first term? Didn't he promise to have the most transparent administration ever? How can you say he's better? He's hired tax cheats, communists and deviants to his administration. How is this better? Maybe you ignore these things, but they don't make him better.
What is wrong with right to work? Shouldn't all people have the right to work and not be forced to join a union that takes money from the employees paycheck? What's wrong with 20% taxcuts? Maybe if the government lowered their spending by 20% it would equal out. Didn't Obama do his tax cuts? What's wrong with Ryan's budget? It lowered spending and made fiscal sense.
It seems to me you have a very distorted view of how this country should be run. Maybe you agree that we should just end it all economically. Tear up the Constitution and run amok into anarchy.
Romney is getting POUNDED!
First by the WSJ, Rupert Murdoch and Jack Welch. Now Romney is being swift boated by of all people, Obama. Wow! Didn't think Obama was tough enough but who knew. Oh yeah, McCain and Hillary knew. This is gonna be a nosebleed election.
To Feisty who wrote:
Even though the Washington Post refused to retract their story, what did the Washington Post's Fact Checker say about the Obama ad that used the story as evidence of Romney's outsourcing record?
Don't carry it all - I realize it appears as if I'm angry. Frustration comes across like that. I have a hard time trying to understand the mentality of people who support Obama. If they can't see the damage he's doing to this country they either support the damage, or are completely blind. Why they don't see the march towards socialism we are involved with is beyond the pale. Somehow they are convinced that socialism isn't all that bad of a governing system. What they don't realize is socialism eliminates freedom. History proves that socialism leads to tyranny. I guess some people wouldn't mind being marched around under gun point, being told what to say and believe. What's the most amazing part of all this is.... some people don't think it can happen here... and they couldn't be further from the truth.
The hard part for me is recognizing it and seeing it unfold right before my eyes... while not being able to do anything about it other than object and voice my opinion on how bad it is getting. I feel very much akin to those in the Weinmar republic in the early 30's. They went through this too.
i don't really care about romney that much..he is a good man and a patriot and will be a better president than the chosen one.......the main issue facing americans is getting rid of the obama regime.....send obama back to chicago, or wherever he came from, where he can work on his community organizing skills......and BRIAN B????.....great post....i also have a very hard time understanding how any adult american could possibly support obama....obama has done enough damage to our nation and he is nothing more than a liar, a distorter, a divider, and a destroyer who spends his time pandering for votes.......ROMNEY IN 2012!
Got any proof?????
He gave tax breaks to small businesses and other corporations. You don't have to be "business-friendly" to reduce unemployment: you need to be ready to spend government money to boost the economy. That is how we got out of the Depression. And by the way, unemployment would be 7.2% had the states not fired public workers.
I don't recall of any offshoring caused by Obama; he offered a deficit reduction plan of $4 trillion based on Simpson-Bowles that the Republicans rejected; and I don't see any tax cheats or Communists on the administration. You seem to remind me of one of those Commie-bashing McCarthyites from the 1950s.
The main problem with right-to-work, in my opinion, is that once a state goes that way, unions crumble. And I mean crumble. That, and according to the 2011 Economic Institute survey, wages, employer-provided health insurance, and employer-provided pensions in right-to-work states tend to be lower than in non-right-to-work states. Essentially, I think the right-to-work movement is just a ploy to destroy unions, even though they are already on the decline. Besides, while I do think that workers ought to be able to choose whether or not they are in a union, these laws make no sense. They weaken unions, which tend to raise wages for workers due to the threat of unionizing and through negotiations. We don't really need them.
While I hate the Bush tax cuts, I cannot believe anyone would support 20% tax cuts right now. For one thing, those tax cuts will increase the deficit by $3.4 trillion, forcing us to take even more draconian steps to reduce the budget deficit. In my opinion, we ought to repeal the Bush tax cuts, raise taxes across the board, reform the tax code and entitlements, and cut defense spending. The Ryan budget ADDS to the deficit because it's spending cuts go to giant tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Even if it doesn't add to the deficit, most of the spending cuts are targeted at vital programs like Medicaid, food stamps, and education. It essentially guts the social safety net while leaving defense spending to grow. It just passes on the cost of Medicare to the retirees while doing the same thing with Medicaid, only to the states. What's wrong with raising taxes AND cutting spending??? And why can't we fix entitlements instead of throwing the whole damn thing to the stupid "free market???"
This is why I hate the Tea Party, and with that most conservative principles. You guys think that every time liberals and progressives try to regulate an economy and fix sectors like healthcare, it's socialism. OBAMACARE IS NOT SOCIALISM. Government-run healthcare is; a mandate to buy private healthcare isn't. I don't believe in socialism, but I don't believe in laissez-faire economics or that the "free market" is infallible. I believe in using the best of both worlds; having a mostly-private sector economy with some public sector institutions, maybe a 60-40 split. I don't believe that people should make a profit off of other people's suffering (aka private healthcare), or that the states should have the majority of the power in the government (name me three decentralized societies in the modern world that were prosperous). I also don't believe in deregulation or tax cuts; to tell you the truth, I hate both. I don't want to tax everyone to death, but you have admit that we (all Americans) are paying the lowest tax rates in 50 years. And finally, I don't believe that we should tear up the Constitution, but I don't think that we should follow it word-for-word. The founders were great men, but they had no idea of things like derivative markets, special interests, global warming, or universal healthcare. We cannot base our entire nation on a document that is over 200 years old. That is why I say we must have a FLEXIBLE interpretation of the Constitution; loose enough to adapt to modern society, but strict enough to maintain the document's basic concepts. And by the way, the Constitution did not limit the powers of government; it expanded them, but kept them in a limited area.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
It's nice to know that, when Romney loses in November...he still has all those hidden assets salted away in Bermuda to support him. I mean, I'd hate to think he'd have to go back to work throwing American workers out of their jobs and off-shoring those jobs to other countries. It would be damned shame, in fact.
Roy Wilson -
A late answer but I was in a meeting. I dont know where you are getting YOUR information that Rasmussen was accurate in 2010. They did predict earlier than others that Republicans would gain seats, but overall they were very inaccurate.
The NY Times article linked below does NOT compare Rasmussen to other Pollsters but to actual results.
fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/11/04/rasmussen-polls-were-biased-and-inaccurate-quinnipiac-surveyusa-performed-strongly/
I don't know what else to say - you can keep repeating it, but facts are facts. Rassmussen was inaccurate and biased in the 2010 elections.
it is so obvious that Barry is worried why else would just start telling blatant lies..of course we know he has been telling lies for years but he has now moved to a new level. Class warfare is not working as well as he thought it would most likely. His memoirs and extreme envy of Marx and Alinsky will be his undoing. This country needs to go to work not turn into more of a welfare state than it already is. People did not this country get to be the finest in the world because of WORK and capitalism...of course it did...wake up and vote for the return of the working man and business.
Romney 2012
With most all of the Republican-led states frantically putting in place voter restriction laws (note the wording) meant solely to discourage the elderly, the poor and college students (groups who all supported Obama in 2008) from voting in the November elections, along with Obama's bombshell decision to grant amnesty to all U.S.-born persons born to illegal aliens, I can't see old Windsock Romney losing the election. Oh, and look at his two leading VP candidates, one is a black woman, and the other a young, Latin-American man. Wow, Slick Willy....pandering much??
I'm actually going to be one of the first people to be on here after Romney's first hundred days in office to gloat and say "I told you so" when Romney's promises of stellar job growth and his "looking out for the Middle Class" are proven to be little more than hot air from a man who knows nothing about what it's like to have no home, no job, no prospects....no hope!! He thinks that giving tax breaks to businesses, deregulation, reducing taxes for the wealthy will create jobs. The only thing that he may actually do (if the Senate goes Republican majority) that would definitely spur jobs is to eliminate the minimum wage laws.
He'll say, "Hey, there are plenty of jobs out there, Mr. Unemployed Guy....you just have to have 2 or 3 of them to afford the basics....good luck living on $3/hr.!!" As the wealthy laugh their a$$es off, all the way to the bank.
I'll tell you the truth, I'm actually looking forward to seeing how his administration reacts when the "common man, woman and child" has had enough of the scraps from the rich man's table and is not willing to be taken advantage of any longer. The revolt is coming, Mitt, old chat!! Will you react like Nixon did at Kent State University way back when? Hmmmm....I wonder!
Freshieee made the following comment based on mine:
Got any proof?????
Proof of what? That CNN reported it? Or that liberals want to destroy the economy too? You have to be more specific.
And by the way, unemployment would be 7.2% had the states not fired public workers.
Got any proof? What about those that have fallen off the unemployment rolls? Do you include those individuals in your numbers? Or don't they count? Why should they in the opinion of a liberal? They are insignificant, eh Freshieee?
By that last comment of yours Freshieee, I can see you are a heartless liberal elite that believes everyone that doesn't share your opinion of events or circumstances belongs in the nether region. You will do everything in your power to spin, lie, and obfuscate someone that doesn't share your hallowed opinion of the failure Obama.
Obama has brought this country to it's economic knees.
Brianb -- As a Democrat I certainly understand frustration. Bush had me very frustrated.
Anyway Brianb, it's Friday, hope you have a good weekend. Politics aside.
Freshieee said: name me three decentralized societies in the modern world that were prosperous
I don't have to name 3. I will name one. The United States of America. We are becoming very unprosperous due to increased government involvement in the private sector. Do you know how many regulations the government imposed on private sector businesses last year? Over 2000. Now you may applaud that but for every regulation the government imposes, it restricts the hands of business owners.
You and I fundamentally disagree on many things. You seem to support larger government. I support smaller government. Government needs to be limited to 2 roles... security and protection of the populace. We live in a time where we soon won't be able to purchase a soft drink larger than 16 ounces. If you don't think government is getting repressive than never come out from under the rock you reside.
Brianb -- Do you know how many business have their hand out for government support?
Virginia's Eric Cantor will face Democrat war vet Wayne Powell, with the help of Dave “Mudcat” Saunders:
Pass the popcorn.
I meant a website that I could go on to see the results.
http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2012/06/economic-crosscurrents/. As for those who have fallen off the unemployment rolls, they do count. Not in the statistic I stated above, but in total unemployment, under U-6 statistics. They are not insignificant, Brianb, and anyone who thinks that way is an idiot. Those are people; human beings who have thrown to the wind and dumped into the lap of poverty while some Americans live in luxury, including those who ruined the economy.
Heartless liberal, eh??? Nice name. Cruel, though, and not correct. I am not heartless; but I will tell you one secret: my emotions are stone-cold to conservatives and libertarians. In a way, I am heartless, but only because of the @!$%# that I've seen on the right side of the political spectrum. Yes, there are problems on the left as well, with Clinton participating in the deregulatory spiral and my side being spineless in their attitudes over the past few years, but the right has dropped to a new low. They did NOTHING to help the economy after January of 2009. 15 of them even plotted to sabotage Obama via obstruction on his own inauguration day. Read into that. And finally, part of my ideological stubbornness is because I have seen no such thing as a "compassionate conservative." I frankly haven't. Maybe if I see one I will at least accept conservatism as an ideology. But that does not seem likely.... And I do lie. I also try to seek the truth. I cannot recall me telling a lie about Obama, but that does seem plausible.
No, the presidents over the past 3 decades did. Obama is merely trying to dig us out of the mess, like Reagan did after Carter or Clinton did after Bush 41.
The ignorance level from the libs is alive and kicking on this thread.
The lack of knowledge on the topic of Bain or on business in general is astounding. Top that off with lunatic rantings of some of the lib geniuses and you've got the makings for an entire book of falsehoods and regurgitated lib talking points. This is the flavor of the day huh libs? What will it be when the country grasps the fact that again your messiah has lied to you and the country?
barack hussein obama, a pathological lying, flip flopper that has been proven time and time again to be full of no substance but plenty of bull crap. It's amazing that no matter how much horse manure he puts on a plate, his sheep just keep slurping it up and saying "thank you mr president can we please have some more". Well, get used to it my little liberal barack flock because if you keep following fools like barack that's going to sum up the rest of your lives. On your knees now, hands out, okay now beg for your rations.
barack followers and what they DON'T know could fill the library of congress.
What will the flavor be tomorrow barack minions? The unemployment rate, 20 million going to prop up Jordan schools, 28 billion going overseas to "green energy", 40% increase in food stamp issue, the democrat congressmen and women that have foreign bank accounts, how about exploration and utilization of our natural resources here in America, maybe the largest tax on the middle class in history aka obama(no)care? Don't hold your breath, libs don't like talking about anything that seriously matters to this country. Hey libs, I know, why don't you guys start spending all of your time researching the fact that Romney owns Italian suits and therefor supports foreign economy's.
Why isn't debbie schultz or pelosi screaming about off shore bank accounts? Hmmm, Liberals in this country are absolutely pathetic.
Skippy "Boy" Nicholson and all the liberals posting who bash Romney for being a 1%er. Guess what, Obama is a 1%er too. I wonder how Obama made his millions. Can you say the word hypocrit?
The reason Romney doesn't want to release his tax returns is that they will show beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was still in control of Bain after he says he was gone, and everyone will know for sure he is lying about when he left.
raleigh, Obama's tax returns show clearly that he made most of his millions from his book sales. Obama actually released his tax returns because he has nothing to hide.
Phine - God bless you and your family. My thoughts are with you and I wish you only the best.
All the Best, Phine.....
The Left lost thier last semblence of reason with you leaving.
As far as I can tell, there are not too many left that are intellectually honest with themselves, or with others.
I hardly ever agreed with you, but I respected you.
One of the few who wasn't a total blind partisan hack.
I wish you well with whatever the health thing is that some others mentioned.
California Tom
Tom, move out of mom and dad's basement, finish High School and try to use proper grammar. Then, find a job! Should be easy now that Obama has been President for four miserable years.
While regulations do have a negative effect, and we probably are in need of some regulatory oversight, the reason why our economy is in the dumps is actually quite the opposite; the government has been too lax when it comes to finance and housing. We let things grow too big until we had to bail them out. Not all regulations are necessary, but not all are unnecessary. Regulations may restrict business, but they protect society from corporate interests and externalities. Sometimes, there are good reasons to slow down economic growth...
I believe in smarter government, which in some cases is larger than what it is now. If government is limited to two roles, than that restricts how the government can fix economies after a recession or educate the population. Your statement of "protect the population" is very vague, as is security; banning 16 oz. soda drinks can be construed as protection against obesity and diabetes. Regulating corporations and providing a safety net for the poor can protect people from poverty or from externalities that companies may produce. I believe that government has a big role to play in life, not in an authoritarian way but as a way to ensure economic prosperity and, among other things, health safety. And by the way, we tried decentralized government with the Articles of Confederation; things were a mess. That is why we created the Constitution; to expand the role of the central government while keeping it within certain boundaries. And we cannot expect to thrive as a society by interpreting the Constitution word for word. We must adapt our interpretation of that document in order to adapt with modern society. That, my good friend, is a fact.
The GOP Platform
-Repeal Obamacare and replace it with Romneydon’tcare.
-Privatize the EPA and sell it to the Koch brothers.
-Pick some Islamic country out of the hat or Detroit and bomb the crap out of it. A dead GI is a shovel ready job.
-Enshrine DOMA into the Constitution and institute a mandatory Pray the Gay Away Day.
-Repeal all minimum wage laws and reverse all progressive tax rates. The poor must pay more and the rich less. Money flows uphill and like God is sacred. They are alone in defying the laws of physics.
-Return the country to its rightful owners: the modern day carpetbagger, the coal and oil industry, Goldman Sachs.
-Deregulate everything. It is as Americans our right to screw everyone including foreigners and to be screwed by anyone as long as they are American or during election cycles foreigners holding US dollars.
-Defund education, education produces liberals. The Bible and Glen Beck are all the education you need. All high school history books must be written in Texas because currently all the facts presented are just wrong. In fact all textbooks should be rewritten in Texas. Darwin may have gotten it right had he done so.
-Repeal the Civil Rights Act. No restaurant should be forced to serve Bobby Jindal.
-Instate US Armed Forces Article of War FFF: Fag Free Foxholes. Our boys need to worry about kicking ass and not taking it up the ass, and if women insist on taking part they should just get used to it.
-Shred the Dream Act and replace it with a Nightmare Act. Institute forced self-deportation.
-Enshrine the corporation as a person so that America can be true to what it has become: a Government of the corporation, by the corporation, for the corporation.
-The female vagina is the rightful property of the male legislator. Women must return to what God intended them to be, June Cleaver. We commend the Taliban for getting that right.
-Rewrite the Constitution so that it starts with the Second Amendment and for good measure ends with it. Guns keep people alive!
-The Negro, the Latino, the Muslim, the homosexual, the unwed mother have been the conservative white man’s burden far too long; let them bear our cross on the road to Calvary for we are Barabbas and have only stolen what we have claimed as ours through Manifest Destiny.
-The country needs to be united and that can only be achieved by a white, wealthy, conservative, non-Muslim, heterosexual man.
- This year Mormons are cool (but only if we win).
No more years for the Kommie from Kenya! Romney/RandomChoice 2012! Look good in a ditch; put the real America back into a chauffeured Rolls Royce.

Nicely done humor with satire thrown in, cheers!
Awesome BW! You created a couple of "milk-out-the-nose" moments.
LOL, BW. Cheers!
In 1994, Romney was pro-choice to win a Senate seat in Massachusetts.
In 1999, Bain Capital, the private equity firm Romney founded, invested $75 million in Stericycle, a medical-waste disposal firm that disposed aborted fetuses collected from family planning clinics.
In 2012, Romney becomes pro-life to appear "severly conservative" to his base.
Sadly I'm afraid you aren't that far from the truth.
It's the ABSURDITY that's so damn funny. It's real.
Some people like blackandwhitecat do not get this is a discussion board. This means to post a point and then prepare to have an exchange of ideas on that point. Writing a book is a waste of time as most people including me just skip over it. Get a clue.
Do you liberals really sit around and worry about this stuff? Come on guys the country has survived for hundreds of years with out Obama. I'm sure we make it thru the next 4 with out him.....
BlackcatWhitecat:
Excellent post. The truth of your only slightly exaggerated observations is that the GOP is now sporting a completely fascist agenda: money matters more than people, the military must be expanded at all costs - even if that means going back on their agreement for automatic cuts for all agencies, and "odd people" are out - because good fascists must have somebody to demonize (such as gays, "illegals", and "abortionist" planned parenthood). And of course - lie - tell some big whoppers. Lie that the Affordable Care Act is a "government takeover of healthcare" when in fact it provides ONLY for privately financed care for those not poor enough for medicaid. Lie that it costs billions of dollars, when in fact the reasonable CBO estimates are that it will be either a net gain for the government bottom line or at worst a push. Lie that Obama is not enforcing the border when in fact he has committed greater resources to the border than Bush did. Lie that Obama busted the budget when in fact the wars and tax cuts of Bush combined with the depression Obama inherited busted the budget long before Obama took the oath. Lie that Obama has increased taxes when in fact Obama has LOWERED taxes. Lie that the "job creators" just can't hire because of uncertaintly in the tax code when in fact that worst the wealthy will have to pay in taxes in the next few years will be the same rates they paid under CLINTON - during one of the greatest expansions in our economic history.
Wow, I guess liberals are easily entertained. By the way Blackcat, satire is supposed to humorously exaggerate the truth. You printed a multitude of lies and the post was outright fiction but if it entertains the sheep and it's labeled correctly in the fiction section I guess that's fine. You guys just keep that hope alive...you're going to need it.
Larry-314720
Shame on you for never having read a book, you must be a republican or you would know that a book has many pages and a number of chapters. I read your bio and it sounded more like bigotry to me.
Rightwingwac
No, satire is used to expose lies and a multitude of other sins through humor, wit and exaggeration. Remedial English 101 for you.
Romney’s Sarah Palin Problem
If Romney acts like a lawyer instead of a businessman then he is doomed. Sorry dude, the U.S. of A. is not a business and the Constitution definitely is not a financial document.
Romney has waded into a legal fight instead of an economic discussion. He doesn’t stand a chance. Romney is not a lawyer and is about to go head to head with a Constitutional Powerhouse in a President named Barack Obama… no contest.
I’ve been saying this for weeks… Romney has a past in-and-of itself that will be exposed to the American public as not only criminal, but also morally reprehensible. Remember Sarah Palin?
Romney will be backed so far in the corner that the RNC will have to find an alternative come Labor Day. Is that even possible?
Republicans (working poor and middle class) that wish to vote against their best interests need to realize that Romney does not have your best interest in mind. If he would be elected to some sort of office with authority over you, he would use his position to crush you.
With the revelation of his management of Bain, Romney has now dealt himself a killing blow to his own campaign. I would feel sorry for other people, but this guy is so crooked I can’t even force myself to empathize.
Come Labor Day, if he isn’t already knocked out, then he will be so bloodied that he will have to throw in the towel. Could you believe that the other Republican Candidates were right when they leveled the Bain claims against Romney? Perry and his Venture vs. Vulture Capitalism statements… wow! Hudathunkit!!?
I understand that the media will attempt to heal the wounds that Romney inflicts upon himself. But they can only do so much damage control to a candidate that is ill-prepared for such a task as running for the President of the United States of America and the leader of the free world.
You know LouisJ, I have been reading you predict this . . . and I must say, you called it. And I'm not even really happy about it . . . because for half of my fellow Americans to think Mitt Romney is an acceptable candidate just really says a lot about how low the bar really is for some folks.
Agree totally Nashville! How can they not see through Romneys political ploys! Our President NEVER has to pretend he is someone else, he is so "ROCK SOLID"!
It can be said that Romney has developed a knack for Spinning a web of deceit, but as Andy Griffith said on the Andy Griffith show, "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive."
In this episode, Barney calls people like Romney "Kleptomineracs."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T437WZ2dmG4 - Andy Griffith Show / Matlock
Nashville - the bar has never been lower for the GOP. The leadership - if there is any left - really needs to sit down after this election and figure out who they are and what they want the party to represent. If they want it to continue as the party of hatred of anyone who is not male, white and backward - then they're headed in the right direction.
If they want to move the party into the 21st Century, they need to do some house cleaning and revamping of what has become a dismal failure of an American party. They actually need to establish values - that include everyone; and establish goals - real ones, not just defeating their opponent.
Until then they are just a party of has beens and never weres.
Obama/Biden 2012
Nashville, I think American voters like to be fair, and to give a challenger a chance. They gave Romney an opportunity to make his argument - but, I'd say, out of the gate, he's not proving persuasive.
I just don't see how he can attack the Affordable Health Care Act and the individual mandate, when both were modeled on the legislation he signed when he was governor of Massachusetts. I don't see how he can claim his time at Bain as an asset and distance himself from his company over outsourcing, even if he didn't oversee those deals.
@SeekingSanity... if you really want to see how Romney and Republicans would deal with explaining his platform on sustaining the United States and promoting their values then allow Barney Fife to show all voters what Romney would say if asked to recite the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBuPQgV8yBM
True comedy
The people of Virginia want to know where are Romney's tax returns, what is this Clown hiding ???????????
LouisJ, I think you are correct - they are probably going to have at best a brokered convention, if not they know they are in a heap of trouble, add that to the fact that Bubba in the South and the SBC (a huge conservative voting block in itself) will never, ever vote for a Mormon - not my idea folks, but it is the truth, Nashville Fan I'm sure you can back me up on this one. I've lived in the south all my life, know Bubbaland like the back of my own hand, and I can tell you one thing - down here that is a dog that just won't hunt. The GOP is in a lot of trouble when not one single republican candidate for congress even mentions their presidential hopeful by name in any add what so ever.

Romney’s Sarah Palin Problem

LouisJ,
Mitt R-money is a bloviating ignoramus just like Sarah Palin and that is a problem!!!
You'd think they would know the difference between a financial document and the Constitution.

Obama/Biden 2012
Absolutely
Romney is in trouble either way you look at it, this Bain story has legs and will continue to haunt him.
Romney can't have it both ways - either he was running Bain after Feb. 1999 or he was not. He has made contradictory statements and walked a tightrope of SEC fraud.
FACT: In November of 1999 Bain Capital in partnership with Bain Capital Partners VI (BCP VI), Sankaty High Yield Asset Investors, and Brookside Capital Investors bought Stericycle for $75M.
FACT: Mitt Romney was listed on the SEC filings as "sole shareholder, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President" of Bain Capital, BCP VI, Santaky and Brookside.
FACT: Mitt Romney PERSONALLY signed the original SEC filings. The filings also stated that Romney "in his capacity as sole shareholder" of the Bain entities that invested in the company holds "voting and dispositive power" with respect to the stock owned by Bain. Romney is the ONLY Bain executive named in the filings.
FACT: Stericyle was a medical-waste disposal company that had a lucrative contract for the disposal of aborted fetuses.
All of the items listed above are undisputed FACTS, based on the SEC filings.
Romney personally signed SEC documents approving the acquisition and listing himself as "sole" owner, shareholder, CEO and President.
At best Romney is a terrible businessman for signing off on documents without having any input or control. At worst he is a liar and a fraud.
Can any of you tell me when Mr. Obama is going to tell his next story? Im looking forward to a real good one this time. Does he change his title to President and Storyteller? LiL Red let me tell you a story, climb up here on my lap.....uuugh! Ok so grab a bench and sit in the middle!
To all the jollyoldsouls willing to vote for Romney, I understand that it gets more and more painful as well as difficult to post comments, but man, what a batch... Romney and Fox News have not provided you too many talking points to express your "independent" thoughts.
4morefor 44
:^)
I think Romney is becoming such a non-candidate that the old school Republicans are becoming bored with him as we speak. There is no doubt in my mind many of them will just stay home on election day - knowing this man has no values and certainly doesn't represent anything for them.
Obama/Biden 2012
No response to Romney's creative history in regards Bain, jos1?
I suppose there wouldn't be. There is, after all, no defensible ground on this issue.
Nashville_Fan It's really not the American voting public that sets the bar. Both parties are not government bodies, they are clubs. If you have access within the club, you may have some say as to who gets trotted out to represent the club. So again, its not really that the "folks" setting the bar. It is more a case of what the "folks" have to settle for when the "folks" realize they will not get anything better. Some will argue that the republicans have had caucuses and primaries, but to me they were a joke with the rigging that went on.
To toss in a few cents worth of wisdom, what did we have in 08? We elected a community organizer to the highest office in the land. A person with no job experience, no real life experience, and a long list of questions that followed. Do you actually believe Obama is qualified to be president? Look at his record. Look at it liberals. His record sucks!!! He is sinking this nation economically. He hasn't improved unemployment one bit. He sends jobs offshore. He supports thug dictators and is enamored by increasing the size of the federal government.
Step out of your partisan shell for just one moment to take a real look at the conditions of this country. He still supports a viscious war in Afghanistan, he has a kill list he is mesmorized by, he lies point blank to the American people and then laughs about it. He has turned allies into questionable friends and wants to fundamentally transform this nation.... into WHAT? I guess our nation isn't good enough for him as it is... and how many flaws has he changed? None, nor will he!
Get your heads out of your @sses and start asking the hard questions... Wake up from your brainwashing.
Brianb- and in 2008 the GOP ran a candidate who selected a joke as a running mate. Neither of them thought we had an problem with our economy. So, how'd that work out for ya?
President Obama only has a long list of questions in the minds of the GOP who would accuse him of being from the moon if they thought the simple minded on the right would buy it.
President Obama is not sinking our economy - the GOP who refuse to do anything, in order to make him a one-term President, is responsible for sinking the economy. He has proposed tax cuts for companies bringing jobs back to the US - the GOP blocked that plan. He has NEVER sent jobs overseas. Your lie about his supporting thug dictators is just that a lie.
Take off the blinders for once - fat chance there. If the GOP had their way we would be in Afghanistan forever and they'd start a war in Syria. You lie and deflect because you have nothing in your candidate or your party.
Your "leadership" is non-existent and yet you continue to lie to cover for the dismal excuse the GOP has become. Get your head out of your a** and try to at least pretend to have a clue!
Oh and FYI - when you post nonsense like you just did you show you have absolutely NO wisdom!
Obama/Biden 2012
I prefer the Vacation story Mr. Obama told last week. Taking the train from Hawaii to LA and staying at the HJ's near the train station. What line would that be..... "The great Aloha and Pacific"?
Louis, well said. I think the convention will be "must see" TV. I can't imagine the GOP establishment bailing on Romney at that late date but the Ron Paul crowd and the evangelicals just might. Who would have thought that Rick Santorum saying Mitt Romney was the worst possible candidate for the GOP in 2012 was a prediction.
jollyold, LOL, your Obama derangement syndrome is showing. I doubt even you are that naive but then again....he was talking about the vacation his family took when they flew back from Hawaii and then rode the train and other transporation to visit mainland USA. He wrote of it in his book as well.
Jody, did you get your Obama books gilded in gold leaf yet?
We also "elected" a man with a failed business record. We re-elected him, even though deficits were through the roof and we had two unsustainable wars. Remember who he was??? I guess not.
First of all, Obama's record is generally good. His stimulus saved the economy from the recession; he's created 4.4 million private sector jobs, and all without the help of the Republicans. He lowered unemployment from a peak of 10.2% to 8.2%, and it would by around 7.2% had public sector employees not been fired at a state and local level (should have given them aid). I don't know that much about his sourcing record, but I do know that every U.S. president since the beginning of the Cold War and even after supported thug dictators against Communism and then against Islamic extremism. And btw, the only reason why government spending is up is because of the RECESSION. You right-wingers really need to read up on your economics.
Romney supports the war in Afghanistan and opposed the withdrawal in Iraq. Romney would do the same damn thing with the kill list, and every president has lied to the American people. I don't recall Obama laughing about it....
I think you're talking about Bush. Since Obama came, America's relations with most foreign countries (especially our European allies) has improved, with some problems with Pakistan and Yemen. And by the way, I don't see how he is fundamentally changing this country. We gotta a lot of flaws, and all he is doing is using foreign examples that work well to help. He helped fix the economic flaw, the deregulation of the financial markets, and managed to reform healthcare (isn't perfect, but a good start). Don't see your boy Romney trying to do anything about that.
Seems like you should be telling that to the GOP....
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
Romney lost to Palin...who lost with McCain ,...to President Obama/Biden.
Romney the pitiful last choice of repubs, rejected by majority of repubs until the very end of repub nomintations. If repubs didn't want him, why should anyone else?
President Obama/Biden 2012
Freshieee commented so I guess I will return the compliment:
We also "elected" a man with a failed business record. We re-elected him, even though deficits were through the roof and we had two unsustainable wars. Remember who he was??? I guess not.
How were deficits through the roof? The accumulated debt during 2000 and 2008 was approximately $4 trillion even with the 2 wars... and don't give me the argument that the war costs weren't included in the deficits... they were still accounted for in the overall debt per year. The actual yearly deficits were no where near what they are today.
First of all, Obama's record is generally good. His stimulus saved the economy from the recession; he's created 4.4 million private sector jobs,
Lies. His stimulus was a lie. He didn't save the economy from the recession. He hasn't created any jobs because we have a greater unemployment number now than before he was elected.
He lowered unemployment from a peak of 10.2% to 8.2%, and it would by around 7.2% had public sector employees not been fired at a state and local level
He lowered it? HE lowered it? How about private sector businesses lowered it by hiring a few more employees? You want to give credit to Obama for lowering unemployment single-handedly. Tell me exactly what HE did to lower it? You can't because he did nothing! Do you know that temporary employment now makes up over 40% of all new hires today? Companies are not hiring permanent employees right now... care to know why? Uncertainty.
Romney supports the war in Afghanistan and opposed the withdrawal in Iraq. Romney would do the same damn thing with the kill list, and every president has lied to the American people. I don't recall Obama laughing about it.
Romney said he supports the Afghanistan war? When did he say this? Romney supports the troops but can't make any claim to the war because he is not in charge of any military operation. I am a hawk and I support the withdrawal from that stinking war. Everyone has an opinion and a politician will never show non-support for an active military operation. Obama laughed about shovel ready jobs.
I think you're talking about Bush. Since Obama came, America's relations with most foreign countries (especially our European allies)
You couldn't be more wrong. We are looked upon as weak and deeply in debt. Obama is not a diplomat and our strongest ally Israel does not trust the US while Obama is in charge. They can't stand him.
He helped fix the economic flaw, the deregulation of the financial markets, and managed to reform healthcare (isn't perfect, but a good start)
Your delusional if you actually believe this. Healthcare is the largest single tax (John Roberts, Supreme Court) this country has ever seen. If it is not repealed, our economy is gone. You won't be able to buy a loaf of bread for less than $100 after inflation hits us full force. Inflation is getting out of control right now in the grocery stores or haven't you noticed the price of beef?
Seems like you should be telling that to the GOP...
Nope... I am even more convinced that people like you who support Obama are completely blind. Somehow I don't think you want this country to fail so it has to be blindness.
It is adorable as these leftists criticize any Republican candidate, as if Obama and Biden have been chosen by their virtues, nothing is more far from being true. Obama was selected by the establishment of the Democrat party for being black and for not being well known, they had a problem with Hillary in the primary, for having support of the majority of white Democrats, was not easy for the establishment to get Hillary and Bill Clinton ( the first black-American President) out of the way, they trusted that more votes they could get with the election of the real first African American than the first woman President, the plan for Democrats was play the race card. Obama had nothing to worry, during his campaign the yellow press paved the way avoiding to bring to light anything that could damage the image of its African- American candidate and come up in his defense in any issue Obama coul face, including his origins in the Communist Party, its sponsors and the Group of extremists who are his circle more nearby, including Anita Dunn, Van Jones his preacher Rev. Write, to mention just three of them. Instead of that the focus in demonize Palin , the same page of the Alinsky book is using against Romney. Nobody in the yellow press critic the lack of experience of Obama in each one of more critical areas of Government. Biden was nominated to provide the experience that Obama did not have, but Biden turns out to be much worse than expected, is a clown. The inexperience of Obama with a background of community organizer, is untouched with the reality of the private economy to the point Obama said , “the private sector is just doing fine“, he don’t’ care about private sector as long is not unionized. In foreign relation, yes we have better relation with Russia of course, is because Obama is giving up our nuclear power to Putin (source ; open microphone). So assume that Romney would make a worse Government Obama is pure bias. The truth of things is that the left and Liberals want to that Obama continue with their social changes, changes that can’t be done if is elected a Republican. The truth of the matter is that the left as well as the liberals, want Obama to continues with its social changes that it offered them, changes that they would not obtain of a Republican is elected, they don
’t care about economy, jobs, taxes, energy , they care about the green agenda, increase taxes, gay agenda, their religious war, gun control, an unionized country, more regulations and create a big welfare state European style.

1.7 Growth of the GDP
80,000 new jobs for a population of more than 300,000,000 of habitants.
Price of gas twice since Obama is President
But…..we are doing fine.
Not even Obama’s strongest supporters believe we will do much better if he’s reelected this November. Does anyone believe Obama’s policies will create 12 million jobs like Reagan did in his second term? Nope!
America knows what we can expect from four more years of Obama. He’ll tell us how terrible Republicans are, point fingers, and blame everyone but himself. Same ole @!$%# as the last 4 years. Nothing new from this poser.
Americans know we as a country can do better.
There are very few old-school Republicans anymore. The vast majority are the products of the "Reagan Revolution" who became infatuated with the guy and declared him to be their idol. They forgot the principles that the GOP used to stand on, like freedom, equality, and liberalism (yes, the Republican Party up until Taft was the home of the liberals). Hell, one of their pride and joy, Theodore Roosevelt, fought against trusts and big corporations, and was an ardent supporter of unions. Alas, that party is gone, and even the moderate party of the 1950s and 60s in also dead. This new party is a cancer in the American body, a thorn in the side of democracy. If we are to save America, we either have to destroy the GOP and make another party or return the old principles of centrism, equality, and compromise. We must purge them in November; give them a decisive defeat that will cause them to boot out the Tea Party idiots, or be doomed to suffer under their legislative tyranny.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
REFORM THE REPUBLICAN PARTY 2012
unless we nationalizea private oil industry and blow up China and India so they are no longer driving prices up by high demand, this point is stupid.
considering that Obama put the 2 wars on the books, had to pay for Bush UNPAID taxcuts, did not have Social Security to rob from anymore, inherited the Bush mortgage & Bush mortgage interest, and inherited the worst economy sine GD, he is not doing so bad.
While unemployment under Bush was rising - and the fastest in 2008, the unemployment had been going down under Obama. You may not like how fast but at least it's not increasing like it did under Bush.
While government jobs under Bush increased affecting his unemployment numbers in a POSITIVE way, the government jobs have been decreasing under Obama, affecting his unemployment numbers in a NEGATIVE ways.
Bush2 had the lowest GDP growth rate at 1.4%
see the comment above about unemployment because it applies to this, too
we are doing better than we did under Bush, don't we? But for whatever reason, you guys want Romney aka Bush3 to go back to what? More wars, more borrowing, bigger government, bigger military, bigger deficit????
Brian, in '08 we elected someone with expreience as a UNITED STATES SENATOR which is greater than a mere community organizer but I realize selective memory is a trait of the RWNJs.
America can only be great if her people are great. We as a people have no right to succeed unless our people are successful. Ask yourself which canidate wants you to be successful. If you ask me Obama wants only him to be set up as successful because he claims anyone who is successful is a liar and a cheat except himself. Yea for freedom and down with big government. "When goverment expands, freedom contracts"
Because, if he does release them, they will PROVE that he was working at and for Bain Capital after 1999, when he said he quit to run the Olympics.
Because it proves he was directly responsible for OUTSOURCING AMERICAN JOBS from his Vulture Capital activities.
Virginia is not a problem for President Obama. Truthfulness is a big problem for Romney!
Obama Wins! Romney Loses!
Here's why Virginia -- with its 13 electoral votes -- is so important for Obama: A win there, plus in Colorado, enables him to surpass 270 electoral votes without winning Florida, Iowa, Ohio, and Nevada....And that's assuming, of course, that Obama holds on to all the states John Kerry won in '04."
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm According to my schedule, that would give Obama only 268 Electoral Votes - 2 shy of the 270 needed. It would give Obama the victory if the Electoral map was the same as in 2004, but it changed with the new census, giving 'Red' states 6 more Electoral votes for 2012.
Perhaps msnbc needs to check the new map.
Adler - how much experience did Obama have as a Senator? Do you know his record? You do realize he was considered to be the most liberal Senator in the group?
Bayllie commented:
unless we nationalizea private oil industry and blow up China and India so they are no longer driving prices up by high demand, this point is stupid.
So tell me Bayllie, you are all for the government taking over the petroleum industry? Do you get your lessons from Hugo Chavez? You can do us all a favor and drop this line of thinking by moving down to Venezuela. It will kill two birds with one stone... you get what you want and I won't have to read this sort of drivel any more.
considering that Obama put the 2 wars on the books,
This is a very old line of Bullsh!t! How do you think the wars were paid for prior to Obama? Do you somehow think the military operated without pay and food and munitions and armament? I see you are still among the Obama elite... blaming Bush for everything under the sun. Incredible that you can't see the damage Obama has done to our freedoms.
While unemployment under Bush was rising - and the fastest in 2008, the unemployment had been going down under Obama. You may not like how fast but at least it's not increasing like it did under Bush.
You mean increasing under the democrat controlled congress that caused the bubble to burst back in 2007. Or somehow what democrats caused, is in your mind, Bush's fault? Amazing.
Bush2 had the lowest GDP growth rate at 1.4%
So what? When did it happen? How can 34 months of unemployment over 8% be topped? That's Obama's record.
we are doing better than we did under Bush
Tell that to all those unemployed people that were let go in the last few months. Tell that to people who's unemployment checks have stopped. Tell that to people that know in their hearts that all this economic turmoil is brought about by Obama's policies... Tell that to me knowing that Obama has raised our national debt by $ 6 trillion.
Virginia's Eric Cantor will face Democrat war vet Wayne Powell, with the help of Dave “Mudcat” Saunders:
Pass the popcorn.
I'll take some popcorn too.
Why not? He's already created 33% more jobs in his first term than GW Bush did in his entire 8 years. http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2009/01/09/bush-on-jobs-the-worst-track-record-on-record/
Then why do the Republicans always expand government? Hahaha -- Don't ya just love the rightwing fallacious bumper stickers?
"When the middle class expands, everyone does better including businesses and the rich, and most of all democracy."
There, I fixed it -- Much better.
Still posting made-up numbers I see.
All of the costs of the wars were included in Bush's annual spending - that's the way it has always been done. If Obama needs additional war appropriations, he gets them the same way Bush did.
The average Unemployment Rate under Bush was 5.33% - It's 9.1% under Obama (thru 2011).
Bush cut the average federal civilian workforce by 5%, Obama has increased it by about 5%
GDP when Clinton left office was $9.986 Trillion per year, when Bush left office it was $14.394Trillion, an increase of 44.2%, or 5.53% per year. Under Obama, it has grown by only 4.8% in 3 years, an average of only 1.6% per year.
The average number of people working in 2000 (Clinton's last year) was 131,785,000.
The average number of people working in 2008 (Bush's last year) was 136,790,000, a gain of 5,005,000 net jobs.
The average number of people working in 2011 (Obama's third year) was 131,158,000, a LOSS of 5,632,000 net jobs (per the official Bureau of Labor Statistics).
The National Debt at the end of fiscal 2008 was $9.986 Trillion.
The National Debt as of 7/12/2012 is $15.872 Trillion, an increase of $5.886 Trillion in 3.5 years - per the US Treasury Department site.
Pot calling kettle black, 'cuz Roy never makes sh!t up. That was such "severe" spin it made me throw up. The Teapublican platform of voodoo economics, neocon foreign policy, and religious radicalism is an Epic Fail. Face it, Teapublicans suck.
Brianb-999431
nope, never said that...it was a response to redvirginia's post about gas prices and why they are high but nice try putting words in my mouth.
During every previous major war in American history, presidents demanded sacrifices from rich and poor alike through higher taxes, domestic spending cuts or reinstatement of the draft . Bush never asked for sacrifices from anyone. Bush knew that the Americans' support for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan has always been paper thin, and asking them to sacrifice would surely have led to massive protests akin like during the Vietnam war. George W. Bush knew well that when his father raised taxes in 1990 in part to pay for the first Gulf War, it played a major role in his 1992 electoral defeat.
Bush Administration estimated cost of wars to be btw 50-60 billion which we all know is bull@!$%# because the cost is about $1 trillion now.
So you can say that Bush did not pay for crap.
if you buy a house, do you pay up front or do you mortgage it? Well, that mortgage also accrues huge interest that is passed on to the nex administration, and the mortgage + interest accrues more interest, and so on...
the list of what and who caused the Financial is long but to say that the 2007 Congress caused it is just ridiculous. It was caused by deregulation, greedy banks and greedy Wall Street and stupid borrrowers that didn't understand what subprime lending was.
What I find interesting with you brianb is that although it happened on Bush's watch - especially between 2002-2006, it's not his fault but you reject the fact that even though Obama didn't cause it and had nothing to do with it, it is his fault.
well tell that to redvirginia who claims otherwise. She/he is spreading false info and when I call her/him on it, your defense is "SO WHAT?"
Bush took over when unemployment was 4% and increased to almost 8% Please brianb, tell me, did that unemployment stop growing on January 2009 or did continue because of the worst financial crisis since GD?
Was the massive increase in unemplyment directly affected by the Fall of 2008? YES or NO?
Please tell me brianb, is the US economy directly affected by Europe - the major trading partner of the US? YES or NO, brianb. Do we control what is happening in Europe, brianb? YES or NO?
So don't give me this crap about poor Bush because Bush took the gift that Clinton handed him and DESTROYED it in 8 years. EIGHT YEARS, brianb, it took Bush 8 years to destroy this country but you have this wet dream that Obama should have fixed everything in 3.5 years?
Tell that to all those unemployed people that were let go in the last few months. Tell that to people who's unemployment checks have stopped.
thanks to Obama they stopped later than sooner. The Republicans wanted to throw them under the bus long, long time ago. All they cared about was their precious rich friends.
brianb, another question (kinda redundant but you don't seem to be getting it):
did unemployment under Bush increase or decrease? And did it continue to grow the fastest in 2008 and on?
And which Obama policies are causing this. Please be specific and provide links so I can answer that.
4 out of 6 Republicans the national debt as a percentage of GDP while 5 out of 6 Democrats reduced the national debt as a percentage of GDP.
Bush2 had the lowest GDP growth rate at 1.4%; the worst average trade balance; the highest increase in population below the poverty line; and the biggest increase in the national debt.
So yes, I blame Bush for many things because I know that fixing this country's economy takes years, decades after the @!$%# Bush left us with.

here you go again with meaningless numbers. Bush inherited low unemployment. Obama didn't. You are doing averages on apples and a dead skunk.
Not only Bush has that advantage (of starting point at 4%), he was only affected by the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s for few months before he handed his keys.
Roy -- Averages Smaverages. It's a different way to skew or spin. Again you leave off January 09.
bayllie -- You got it. Meaningless numbers.
ROY WILSON-336103
I'm not going to comment on your entire post because it's all garbage but I would like to point out one example of how you manipulate numbers (not the first time anyway):
for Clinton you use "adjusted" GDP, for Bush you don't use "adjusted" so your number is totally inflated. At no point, did Bush EVER had an increase of 44.2%. Nice try.
Do people actually believe your bull$hit?

I stopped reading Roy's crappy posts while ago but for some reason, I did today. I almost forgot how he manipulates numbers and people eat it up! It takes 30 seconds to look things up but some just love Roy's bull$hit because it fits their "reality."

bayllie "ROY WILSON-336103 I'm not going to comment on your entire post because it's all garbage"
Apparently, you have a problem with understanding numbers, or don't want to believe figures that come directly from the Obama White House, so to save you the trouble, I'll give them to you directly figures from the Obama White House link (below);
Year Gross Debt
2008$9,986,082 Million
2009 $11,875,851 Million
2010$13,528,807 Million
2011$14,764,222 Million, and as of 7/12/2012, it's $15,872,000 Million
2012P$16,350,885 Million
All of these are actual figures, not 'adjusted' figures, and they are all reported on the same basis.
Here are the official figures for GDP from the same Obama White House link – again, actual figures - not adjusted;
2000 = $9,821,000 Million
2008 = $14,334,400 Million
For those that are 'math challenged', that's an increase of 45.6% over 8 years, or 5.7% per year - my earlier figure of 5.53% per year had to be adjusted.
Here's the link – AGAIN, OBAMA'S WHITE HOUSE - see Table 7.1 for the National Debt, and Table 10.1 for GDP;
http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/Historicals
PS - If you have a problem with the reported figures, you should contact Obama and tell him to adjust them to your liking.
We spend more on defense than all of the other major countries in the world (including Russia and China) spend combined.
Why do we have to spend so much? Please explain.
They were record deficits back then, especially because the Bush economy, although not great, was still expanding due to the housing bubble. And of course deficits are larger now, you have the costs of the recession on government receipts and outlays, ON TOP of the Bush deficits.
Ask the CBO; how come GDP began to grow and job losses to end after the stimulus was enacted. And by the way, the recession did not end after Obama was elected; it ended about six months after his election, and unemployment was at 10.2% or even more.
Jesus Christ, do you really have to go after the nitty gritty??? Unemployment decreased under Obama, thanks in part to his stimulus; ask any damn economist. And of course private businesses hired more workers, but they did that AFTER the stimulus, which created (or saved) anywhere from 1.8 million to 3.3 million jobs and boosted demand. And don't give me that uncertainty BS. Companies aren't hiring because of lackluster demand; and even if it is due to uncertainty, the big corporations are sitting on $2 trillion in cash; they could easily boost employment numbers without endangering their bottom line.
I'll give you that, as you are mostly correct on that.
First of all, we were like that when Bush was in. At least the rest of the world can now know that we won't invade another country for a stupid reason. The world thought we were trigger-happy idiots; and if America is weak, the rest of the world is weak. And who the @!$%# cares about Israel??? I am pro-Israel, but even I am damn tired of babying their sorry asses and coddling them at every turn. I would rather have someone who neutral towards Israel than a pro-Israeli fanatic who will go to war for those people when they have done SQUAT for us. We give them billions a year, and what the hell do we get??? Anger and frustration. We have to tell the Israelis that we are their allies, but that we are not going to coddle them anymore.
Oh bull@!$%#. Healthcare is NOT the largest tax increase in history; it's smaller than the Clinton tax increases, the Bush 41 tax increases, and waaay smaller than the Reagan tax increase of 1982; check http://theincidentaleconomist.com/wordpress/obamacare-is-the-biggest-tax-increase-in-history-if-you-ignore-history/. And inflation prophets have been saying that for years. Where the hell is it??? Inflation has barely been positive over the past few years; it was even negative one year. I don't @!$%#ing care about the price beef; food and fuel prices are not part of core inflation; they fluctuate all the time, what with policies overseas. Have you ever thought that the demand placed by millions more people could behind the increase in food prices.
You really think I'm blind??? What about you're damn party??? You obstruct everything that passes in the Senate, even if it was a bipartisan idea a mere 4 years ago. The Dream Act was cosponsored by Republicans, and even that didn't get a single GOP vote. If you Republicans gave a damn about this country you would be compromising with the President instead of attacking him at every @!$%#ing turn. You conservatives make me sick; 15 Republicans even plotted to sabotage Obama on his damn inauguration day!!!! How the @!$%# do you explain that. And don't give me that socialist bull@!$%#; Obama is to the right of Bill Clinton on healthcare and tax policy!!
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
LouisJ
Pathetic and desparate attempts to say that Andy Griffith and Barney hated Romney??!! HA HA....
TODAY'S REALITY UNDER OBAMA
Let's see ..... Obamacare, GSA scandal, Secret Service scandal, 23 other Federal department investigations, Fast & Furious, Higher taxes, Solyndra, High unemployment, No Federal Budget, Under-the-table deals, Suing states for enforcing Federal laws, SCOTUS, Gas prices more than doubled, More regulations, No voter ID (?) endorsed, Shovel Ready Jobs that never materialized at the cost of billions of dollars, Black Panther voter intimidation, No Keystone pipeline, Massive deficit spending with NO RESULTS, Over 5 trillion added to the national debt, No plan for anything except the "Buffet Rule", Speech after speech with no follow-through, and on & on & on.
Is this the direction our country should be heading? Aren’t we a better country than that?
It funny to me how "conservatives" are so willing to vote for Mitt Romney when there is nothing conservative about him. He made his living off the backs of the poor and middle class(which in capitalism, there is nothing wrong with that) while many struggled to get by while watching their paychecks, 401k, and benefits shrink or disappear in the process while he made off with millions. So when did capitalism become a "conservative" idea. Last time I checked it was a "liberal" idea that is hated by those so called "conservatives" and "tea party" crowd.
It is also funny how the same "conservatives" or "tea party" crowd who currently don't have health insurance but thanks to the Affordable Health Care Act will benefit because they can now either afford it or can obtain due to pre-existing conditions are willing to go along with the group that vowing to take away the ONLY AFFORDABLE health care for the people WHILE they enjoy the BEST health care in the country let alone the world. It is also interesting how they continue to say "This is the biggest tax increase on the middle class EVER" when the truth is if you have or WILL HAVE health insurance by 2014, you will not be susceptible to the tax/penalty but HEY spin is spin right?
It also interesting to me how they can blame the President for the unemployment rate AND the economic numbers totally forgetting that "congress" are the ones that not only set policy but have a major role in getting items brought up for a vote. Remember Boehner, Cantor, and McConnell asking for the president to come up with a budget and a jobs bill. When he did, they didn't even bother to bring it up for a vote? Remember how they continually tried to tack on "amendments" to simple bills that would have help the economy overall JUST SO they wouldn't get passed then criticize the dems for doing the same thing? Remember Boehner agreeing to a 4 trillion dollar plan with the president that was included a compromise on everything from cuts to entitlements to discretionary spending and closing loopholes and he couldn't only sell to his colleagues but DENIED there was ever a deal in place with the President?
Funny how they say the President's policies have failed when he as pretty much single handedly created 2.5 million jobs, given small businesses tax break after tax break, rewarded businesses that brought back jobs that were outsourced overseas, cracked down on illegal immigrants coming into the country, ending the Iraq war(kinda), decimating Al Qaida, etc. Still they only thing they can harp on is unemployment is above 8% for 40 straight months (remember it was up around 10% when he took office), Solyndra and Obamacare.....
Lastly, will someone PLEASE tell me who we are taking our country back from? I am still waiting for a response from ANYONE on the far right to answer that question. Also You can't call the president a liar when he has attempted to work with congress at every opportunity only to be told it either our way or the highway. You want to say the President has failed, you also have to say Congress has failed as well.
Common Sense 23
there is nothing they know about him, not even where his address is. Apparently, Mitt has many addresses - not because he has many homes, but so he can vote in other states.
Roy, you cannot take year 8 and subtract year 1 from it and then divide the difference by year 1 and then divide it by 8- because that's what you did to get your 45.6% and 5.7%.
What you did is totally meaningless. You are supposed to do each year separately and then take an average of all 8 % (simply said but maybe you'll get it).
Unless you are a Noble prize winner for changing how economists determine the annualized growth rates for real G.D.P, your numbers are $hit.
The only presidents that had 5% or over numbers were Kennedy (5.4) and Johnson (5.0) (both Democrats by the way).
Please Roy, stop spreading the misinformation. You are not doing anyone a favor by doing this.
and no matter how hard you are trying to manipulate your numbers, Bush's avg is still the worst - even worse than Obama's.
/
bayllie "Roy, you cannot take year 8 and subtract year 1 from it and then divide the difference by year 1 and then divide it by 8- because that's what you did to get your 45.6% and 5.7%."
I see that you REALLY ARE math challenged.
Clinton's last year was 2000, which serves as the base for calculating changes in economic growth for Bush's 8 years. Bush's 8th year was 2008, so what you do is determine the total increase in GDP as of 2008 and divide it by the 'base year' figure for 2000 (Clinton's last year) to get the % increase in economic growth - which was indeed 45.6% over 8 years. You can get the average % growth per year by dividing the total growth by 8 years, and then dividing that average growth per year by the base year (2000), which shows an average growth of 5.7% per year.
An alternative method would be to determine the 'compounded rate of growth', but I thought it best to 'keep it simple' for people like you. Calculated on this basis, the average 'compounded rate of growth' in GDP under Bush was 4.8% per year. For Obama it is 1.6% per year.
There's no point in spending much time debating Roy. He gamed the numbers the minute he made the false contention that the only "real" numbers are those not adjusted for inflation. In fact the opposite is true. Adjusting for inflation is the ONLY way to make an apples to apples comparison over time. Roy has stated he's an MBA and understands numbers perfectly, therefore he realizes he's being deceptive. That's why I now debunk him once then move on.
DNFTT.
Actually, he's right. According to the Congressional Research Service survey in 2010, Bush accrued, officially, deficits totaling roughly $3.4 trillion from 2001 to 2009 (I use those numbers because the budget of 2001 was signed by Clinton and the resolution of 2009 was signed by Bush). However, according to the debts of 2001 and 2009, Bush technically increased it by around $7.1 trillion. I doubt it totals $7.1 trillion, but that is how I crunched the numbers. That means that there are at least over $1 trillion in extra deficits that are not on the books. That, theoretically, would have had to have gone to the War in Afghanistan and Iraq. Considering that he increased the debt by a minimum of $5.5 trillion, he would have had to have roughly $700 billion in deficits on average; but in the 2010 survey, they averaged only $380 billion, a little over half that number. So, either he was spending money on a top-secret project so crucial that even the budget-accountants didn't know about, or he was deliberately cooking the books. Your call.

OBAMA BIDEN 2012
Romney's Horrible, Awful, Very Bad Week...err Month. The Romney campaign has been on its heels for a month. Even his vacation was bad optics for Mitt; for one thing, that was one ugly boat. In a couple weeks, Romney heads to London to meet with ex-patriots, give speeches and to attend the Olympics to watch his wife's Dressage horse compete. Dressage itself shouts affluent wealth these days. Petty as it sounds, this poster finds these optics entertaining having endured the right-wing "bloviating ignoramus" attacks every time President Obama and/or his family takes a vacation, plays golf or, as a Candidate went to Europe to meet leaders and speak in Germany.
Interesting that four or five weeks ago, the media, Cory Booker, Ed Rendell and Bill Clinton said Bain Capital was a losing strategy for President Obama and democrats. Maybe that handful of democrats forgot that Rick Perry, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich all did their best to point out that Bain would be trouble for Romney; even the conservative candidates found what Bain did legal but not ethical. Perry called it "vulture capitalism", Santorum and Gingrich indicated their distaste for purposely leveraging profitable companies to buy other companies ultimately bankrupting many businesses which cost people their jobs. Do not forget that the bankrupting of businesses cost taxpayers millions to partially fund the Pension Plans Mitt Romney and Bain "borrowed" prior to closing the doors.
There are legitimate equity firms in the US who do invest to help struggling businesses streamline and improve their marketability; some are successful, some not. Not all equity firms are alike. Bain Capital, however, invested in many profitable firms for one purpose, to leverage the capital from it and after sucking the very life-blood from these firms, they closed the doors and began their "vulture" tactics at another firm. Bain under Romney's direction made little effort to improve many of those firms; instead they used the leveraged capital to choose winners elsewhere. The list of purposely bankrupting businesses to earn millions for Bain is long.
Finally, the media has begun to investigate Mitt Romney instead of just taking his and his campaign's word about a bevy of issues from off-shore accounts to Bain and Mitt Romney's involvement long after he stated he left and was no longer in charge. Either Mitt Romney and Bain, as the papers filed shows, committed a felony by failing to report the truth to the SEC about his exit date from Bain or Mitt Romney lied to the people about same. There is four year's difference in dates from the Mitt claimed 1999 exit date to the actual date his exit papers were signed in 2002.
The biggest problem for Mitt Romney, however, is not just Bain Capital; not just his off-shore millions; not the optics of Dressage or vacations; not just "Cookie Gate". It is his pro-life, pro-gay, pro-RomneyCare. It is his comments in 1994 that he would be "more liberal than Ted Kennedy", "more pro-life", more "pro-gay" and on and on the flip/flops go. Mitt Romney has been on both sides of every major issue since he first began to run for elective office.
While the press may skirt it by using the word unfactual or not true, I have no problem calling Mitt Romney what he is--a liar. Mitt's biggest problem is that Romney, the candidate, is a LIE. Romney is an empty suit taking whatever position necessary to achieve his goal. Listen closely and hear the drip, drip, drip of a million lies keeping Mitt Romney awake at night.
Uh, Jody? Did you miss the fact that when the media- at least, the Washington Post Factchecker, and Factcheck.org- investigated, they discovered that OBAMA was LYING?
Have you read Maraniss' book? The one that shows that just about every word in Obama's two autobiographies, including "and" and "the", were made up, fabricated, inflated, or just plain lies?
Geez. Talk about selective hearing.
Bain Capital, however, invested in many profitable firms for one purpose, to leverage the capital from it and after sucking the very life-blood from these firms they closed the doors and began their "vulture" tactics at another firm
This is what bugs me about Romney's claim he would be an effective President. In my world, a businessman is someone who puts his heart and soul into establishing and growing a profitable company. I've worked in restaurants where the owner put in twelve hour days, and larger companies where leadership spanned several generations of the same family. To be successful in the business world over the long term takes focus, intellectual capacity, drive, and not to be corny, something like "heart." A real businessman takes alot of knocks and picks himself up, I don't see these qualities in Romney. I don't think he has ever faced limited funds and had to figure out how to make payroll or pay suppliers. I don't think he's a real businessman, in that sense.
Great quote Amy, and it encapsulates the world of vulture capitalism. I myself worked for a company that did exactly that. They took a highly profitable, constantly expanding firm built over decades and turned it into a pathetic, shrinking company running on a shoestring, having sold all its assets to pay overhead to the ownership on Wall Street.
Great post, Jody. What strikes me most about this issue is that it should have been anticipated by the Romney campaign and could have been minimized with a little honesty. Mitt spun tales about when he left Bain so he could avoid the charge that he outsourced jobs. He could have said--outsourcing was a valid business technique but I learned from it that it isn't the best thing for my fellow citizens so I will bring the lessons I learned from it to play and will aggressively insource jobs. Then all of this talk would be moot.
Another thing this raises to me is how detached Mitt seems to be from management. He strikes me as being big on delegating---and we saw where that got us with George Bush. Did he know he was filing inaccurate statements with the SEC? Did he care? Did he consider it a technicality? Why did it take so long to resolve his involvement with Bain? And just what is in those tax returns?
Jody the same could be said of President Obama. Our Liar in Chief. Yoour title should be Obama had a bad week err month. Obama's Bain ads have been proven to be false. Obama has done more outsourcing than Romney. As far as his time as Ma Governor FACTCHECK.ORG has this to say. So It is Obama.s bad week, month.
Summary
A new ad from the Obama campaign takes aim at Mitt Romney’s performance as governor of Massachusetts, claiming he had “one of the worst economic records in the country.” But the ad overreaches with several of its claims.
Jody - clearly njnb is stuck on stupid - as usual.
Great post Jody. As always - the voice of substance and reason amid the GOP talking heads who just spout stupidity and lies.
Happy Friday to all my liberal friends!

Richard, I'll let you know how the people of Mass feel about Mitt in a couple of weeks, I'm actually going to spend my vacation among the working/middle class up there and you can bet I'll be asking quite a lot of folks how they like their healthcare and if things have improved for them now that Mitt is gone or was it better for them when he was there.
No doubt , life and finances are so much better for my working/middle class family than they were 4 years ago. Hope and change are working very well for our working/middle class family - thanks so much for asking!
Thank you Jody for all the details, and takes.
SF, Yes, it IS something hostile takeover specialists do.
It doesn't make it right for ordinary folks to be dumped on the street without severance pay, pensions, healthcare, and no job in sight. Union support probably already cut from under them, leaving no recourse. Workers might not have seen it coming, because the company was doing fine.
And the jobs outsourced to China or somewhere for less pay and no benefits.
And millions in the pockets of said very wealthy CEO & friends.
And it doesn't recommend the CEO in charge for the job of United States President in any conceivable, feasible, ethical, or relevant way.
Jody -- Well said.
Yesterday I was reading an article and they mentioned that fact that most of the media solely relies on info put out by the Romney campaign. They pick it up and repeat it on TV and in print as if it's truth instead of doing their job as reporters and doing research. Thankfully outfits like the Boston Globe and Fortune still exist.
Good Morning SeekingSanity
Happy Friday to all my liberal friends!
Yea, but it's a bad Friday the 13th for Mitt R-money. I bet he is suffering from Triskaidekaphobia today; fear of the number 13; as in millions of 13s!!!

Obama/Biden 2012
I specially love the childhood vacation story he told last week. Im geared up for story telling time now. I just cant figure out which train he and his family took from Hawaii to LA, and where the Howard Johnsons next to the train stations were? But I did love the small muddy pool part!
Richard -
So you want the truth about Romney's tenure as Governor? He "balanced the budget" by increasing revenues through taxes and fees.
A previously enacted Capital Gains Tax increase raised $1.3 billion in revenue (increased taxes).
The combined state and local tax burden in Massachusetts increased during Romney's governorship. Romney reduced state adi to cities and towns by $700 million. This resulted in a local property tax increases to their highest level in 25 years. Romney signed legislation allowing $100M in property taxes increases. (increased taxes)
Romney created 33 new fees and increased 57 fees raising $501 million in revenue. (increased fees)
Romney increased a state gasoline “special fee” (tax) by two cents per gallon, making effective state gasoline tax of 23.5 cents per gallon. (increased taxes)
Romney also inposed the Individual Mandate on health insurance. (tax? penalty?)
No surprise that Romney's approval rating dropped from 66% in his first year to 34% his final year.

Romney's Horrible, Awful, Very Bad Week...err Month.
Excellent Jody,
It's going to be a lot more bad days and months for Mitt.
No JO (copy cat) is irrelevant. She just blathers on and on.
Obama/Biden 2012
It strikes me funny that there is so much focus on Romney's money, and so much work is put in to trying to tie him to outsourcing, while we ignore what this administration is doing.
1. Where did Obama make his money?
2. When Green Energy grants go to Fisker in Finland, Vestas in Denmark, and solar companies in Mexico, this is outsourcing in the last 3 years, not in 1999.
3. The deficit for the first 9 months of the Government fiscal year is over $900 Billion, on track for going over $1 Trillion for each year Obama has been in office. I am more worried about what Obama is doing with our money than what Romney does with his.
4. Our Government FINALLY has complained to the WTO about Chinese tariffs on American Cars. In the meantime, GM is building plants in China. Are we unable to negotiate any trade deal that doesn't involve 3rd world countries dumping their products in the US? The manufacturing lost in these deals is equivalent to outsourcing.
5. How can we have a Jobs advisor, the CEO of GE, who is moving his medical x-ray manufacturing from Wisconsin to China? Shouldn't someone ask him what policies it would take to keep those jobs in America?
If the administration put more effort in trying to do their job, then maybe their attempts to discredit their political opponents would be more credible.
Roger - might want to look up GE before you post. They are building 4 mico-centers for manufacturing in the US by 2014. Are bringing at least 50% of their manufacturing back here.
Obama/Biden 2012
Roger . Where did Obama make his money?
He wrote two books that have sold milions of copies around the world. Dreams from My Father and The Audacity of Hope.
They are gearing up for new product manufacture in the US, which they should. That 50% number is bogus. You may also look up their investment, and subsequent government grants in a battery company called A123. Look at who is getting the benefit from that fiasco. We will see what GE is doing a couple of years from now with those microcenters.
The fact still remains that they are moving the medical x-ray to China from Wisconsin.
So, Sanity, please don't stop reading about GE when you get something that looks good for your candidate.
Roger - your ignorance is overwhelming yet you continue to post it.
And, 10 major companies are moving manufacturing back here. Wages in China are going up and quality down.
Obama/Biden 2012
Jody, Thank You!
The word that has been playing over and over in my head is OPTICS. Romney was invited but did not attend the La Raza convention in Las Vegas last weekend. A surrogate offered and was declined. This was an opportunity for him to meet a relatively friendly (by comparison to the NAACP convention) voting block and discuss the issues. But, Romney doesn't DO weekends, so he passed. Then he got himself booed at the convention by demeaning Obamacare (which could very easily be called RomneyCare). Then he jets off to a fund raiser with the Tin Man and once again demeans a voting block by implying they are only in it for the Free Stuff (no sense of irony as he takes a $70K business LOSS on the dressage horses).
All of this while producing ads claiming Barack Obama has somehow hurt his feefees by calling out his LIES on his 'Management' at Bain.
Here are some more OPTICS. If he really wasn't the Decider in the management of Bain, why was he continuing to draw a salary? Doesn't that just reaffirm the common man's perception that the wealthy setup these SHELL companies and they run all of their personal expenses through them,...further excascerbating the appearance that only the DUMB without parents of means pay something as common as TAXES?
This man earns $57 THOUSAND dollars per day. Per Day. and yet he had minions running the show on the SHELL corporation of Bain?
His whole persona smells of three day old fish. And he can't seem to release the tax returns, I presume because after 8 years of perpetual candidacy, they continue to be doctored and revised to reflect the REAL story?
At this point, does ANYONE actually believe that if he does release them they will be those that were actually FILED? Is there any way that he can't float any paperwork and call it fact?
I for one will not believe anything but my own eyes and what I see when I look at Romney is a flat, dead pan liar willing to say whatever he thinks will garner him a vote.
Thanks, but NO THANKS on that particular Bridge to NOWHERE - queue the Beatle's Nowhere Man
Roger -
The "Stimulus Money went to foreign countries" myth has been debunked several times already.
The "foreign" money went to either foreign firms who have plants in the US (US employees); or to purchase foreign parts not available in the US in order to build wind farms in the US (using US workers to build and manage the farms).
More Republican LIES.
Excellent post, Clara. Have a great weekend!
Thank you, friends, for the kind words and adding more to my comment.
Roger, as Amy said, President Obama made his money on the sale of his two excellent books. He has released 11 years of tax returns which show exactly that and the press has sliced/diced and reported on those tax returns. How many has Romney released? One, and that one shows the Swiss Bank account which then required that he file changes to his candidacy paperwork because he left off things.
As for Snookie Joe Forked Tongue, she remains on Ignore. I do not open or read her comments any more after reading the same drivel for about 6 years, some under her old name of Donna. She follows me around on First Thoughts on Fridays. Wherever I post on Friday, there's Snookie Joe. Maybe one day, she will work up the nerve to post a stand alone comment.
blackcatwhitecat, you are correct in interpreting her moniker although, to be fair, she intended the NJ to be New Jersey but I think you're right, it has morphed.
Hey TNSEVOL #4.21, Romney has his DNA on Liar, Obama shows to be everything Romney is not, a Leader !!!!!!!!!!!!!
"OBAMA 2012 GUARANTEED"
Clara, cheers right back at ya!!!! Excellent post.
Roger, why do you ignore the annual budget deficit of George W. Bush? Don't forget, he kept the cost of two unfunded wars OFF the books; it was President Obama who put them ON the books where they belonged. Bush and the GOP controlled Congress (6 years) never paid for a single piece of legislation they passed, not the Medicare Rx plan, not the wars, not the miliary increase, not anything. Bush took 4 years of balanced budgets under Clinton, a huge budget surplus and within one year turned it into a trillion dollar annual deficit. Oh, but that doesn't fit your narrative, does it?
Seeking Sanity - I see you hold opposing opinions in high regard.
Seeking and TN Volunteer - Debunked? Ignorant? Look up A123 (Ticker symbol AONE) and look at the history. Fisker says that all of the grant money was spent to develop the battery at A123, but America didn't have the manufacturing capability. Those batteries and the vehicles are being manufactured in Finland. So we get some short term development jobs, GE recovers their investment with a $28 IPO with A123, but the permanent manufacturing jobs are in FINLAND. Maybe the energy generation jobs created when Justin Bieber charges his Fisker in the US is what the investment was for?
Those are the facts on how GE operates, and the effectiveness of the "Green Energy" investment in creating permanent jobs in the US.
If you can offer FACTS that show this isn't true, then do it. If all you can do is call people ignorant, well back at you.
His whole persona smells of three day old fish. And he can't seem to release the tax returns, I presume because after 8 years of perpetual candidacy, they continue to be doctored and revised to reflect the REAL story?
Ironic isn't it, considering how the Republicans hounded candidate Obama to release the long form of his birth certificate, when it was obvious he was born in Hawaii? Now Romney won't provide the kind of information people are asked to provide when applying for a government job at that level of security clearance.
Amy, I believe the government has his tax forms.
Roger, the government had Barack Obama's birth certificate too. Didn't stop Republicans from demanding it be made public. Voters have a right to know what Romney's financial dealings consist of.
Jody, Iowa
Snookie Joe Forked Tongue
ROFLMAO!!!
@Clara, Hello, fantastic post. I'm glad to see you out and am very happy to give you a shout out.
I can hardly wait until you come back to Chicago; so we can have fun again.

Obama/Biden 2112
,
Roger....you whine about jobs from GE going to China...but you forgot to ask yourself why they are. Repubs block all attempts to remove tax breaks for jobs going overseas and Romney supports repubs blocking all attempts.
Wages for the middle class started going in the crapper under Reagan when he attacked Unions. Reagan went after air traffic controllers and repubs went after Unions ever since. The attacks on Unions lowered wages and stagnated raises across the board. The rich got richer and started exporting jobs overseas with the tax breaks given to companies through NAFTA etc. Manufacturing in the U.S. is at its most PRODUCTIVE level in history, yet wages are held down on the workers because the rich have the greed of getting richer.
Solution simply is to remove the tax breaks for the companies that took jobs overseas....Repubs including Romney will not allow this, they block all bills.
Solution is to give tax breaks to companies who return their business back to America. Repubs including Romney are against this also and block those bills.
Why? Because repubs pledged to take the economy down the night of President Obama being sworn in. They pledged to vote against every bill that would help the economy recover just to make Obama a one term president.
Obama/Biden 2012
Roger, apparently you have never heard of a little something call the Privacy Laws. Government, by law, cannot release any private, personal data it collects for any purpose. The State of Hawaii could not release the "long-form" birth certificate of President Obama or ANYONE born there because it contains personal information. The same is true for all state governments. Candidate Obama provided his short-form, which is all anyone needs to obtain a passport, apply for social security, etc. numerous times. It isn't President Obama's fault the right-wing birthers are too stupid to recognize that it is as real as theirs. The same goes for tax returns. We are required, by law, to file taxes but the Government, by law, cannot release those forms to the public.
Romney is nothing but a strawman for Rove, Norguist, and Cheney.
Norquist said all they needed was someone to sign documents for them. During a meet and greet with Larry , Moe, and Curley, Romney was asked by Norquist, "Strawman, what would you do if you had a brain?' Willard the strawman broke out in song, " Why if I had a brain I could...I could while away the hours, conferring with the flowers consulting with the rain. And my head I'd be a-scratchin', while my thoughts were busy hatchin' if I only had a brain
Union Baby, Tennessee
what part of Mass will you be visiting?
Maybe I should change Romneys song I posted above to this instead.
Romney was asked by Norquist, "Strawman, what would you do if you had a brain?' Willard the strawman broke out in song, " Why if I had a brain I could...I could while away the hours, conferring with the flowers consulting for the BAIN. And my head I'd be a-scratchin', while my thoughts were busy hatchin' if I only hadn't worked for BAIN!

Jody, Amy said that he would have to open his tax forms for security clearance. I said the government had them. I think we both know why Romney's tax filing is so important. He made a lot of money, and his accountants probably got him all the legal deductions they could get. Obama wants the deductions public to support his "tax the rich" class warfare stance. I don't think deductions are the issue when spending is so far out of control.
I really wish Romney would say more about the unnecessary programs that he would cut. I guess someone would get all upset no matter what the program was, but being silent, people expect the worst. I for one would not miss the government studies that show silly things like how much naturally occuring mercury can be detected in rice, or that washing your hands before eating reduces your risk of salmonela infection. There are redundant agencies in different departments that can be merged, a thing that normal businesses would do to keep providing goods and services at lower costs. Do you remember the MSNBC story on "Secret America"? Because the FBI, CIA, Military, and Homeland Security work independently, they created a new agency to track all of them and look for common information. Ever heard of task forces? If Romney would name one significant cut, we could all breath easier...or at least judge the plan.
I wish Obama would come up with some spending cuts other than reducing the rate of growth of spending, not counting future programs that increase spending. All we hear is tax, tax, tax. The amount he can collect without having a bad effect on the economy is no where near what he proposes to spend. I can say that with confidence because even though I don't know what the exact level is, it can't be anywhere close to an additional $1.2 trillion per year.
I think that whoever is elected will have to raise taxes anyway, but just raising taxes without some commitment to major government spending cuts is inane. That's why I wish Reid would have brought the Ryan Budget to the Senate. In the middle of all the "we can't do that's", we may have found, or forced departments to find ways to save significant amounts of taxpayer money. We would probably step on the toes of some major political donors (Unions and Defense Contractors), but whose interest are they supposed to be watching for? If they were committed to action, they would step on a lot of toes from supporters of both parties in the interest of the people. Once both sides did their job, we could see how much of a tax increase is required to give the protections that we really need.
Starsailing - Wages are held down because there is no demand for labor. Furthermore when the cost for labor and benefits get too high, things are not sustainable. Look at what cities are going through to meet their pension commitments. There are policies, regulations, trade agreements, and tax rates that vary around the global economy. Companies will find places where they can produce products at a lower cost so that they can remain competitive. Limiting regulation would help, but does not mean that we go back to 1901 standards, just that we have comparable standards with our trading partners, and vice versa. Trade agreements should be made in a way to give us fair access to markets like China, getting rid of tariffs on American goods, rather than open ourselves to having 3rd world countries dump their products on us. The only way we would compete with in a NAFTA environment is to lower our standard of living to be closer to theirs. Having one of the highest corporate tax rates doesn't make companies want to expand in this country. Lower tax rates would make it more attractive to make money in the US, which would increase demand for labor, which would stabilize wages. It would make American goods to be more competitive overseas, and would increase tax revenue by keeping businesses in the US, and collecting taxes on the workers wages.
Increasing our development of our resourses will help. This does not mean "drill baby drill", but it does mean that we should have a policy that assures access to reasonable energy in the US, and to export some of the energy. There are countries like Norway that can afford social services only because they have been prudently agressive in developing their resources.
So, if people want to go on with the blame game, and argue whether the Kochs or Soros is more evil, whether Fox or MSNBC is more bias, whether the radical fringes of both parties are more right or wrong, whether the rich or the people on entitlements are more greedy, or whether Ohio St. is better than Michigan (which of course they are), that's too bad. I am looking for some sane solution, and barring that, I'll go with the one that looks the sanest. To me, right now that looks like Romney.
Actually, many corporations skirt past the tax rate; and technically, low tax rates aren't going to bring corporations back alone (I don't think they will have a large effect at all). We need to train more people to become high-skilled workers, invest more money in education (along with reforming it), and fix our economy to keep manufacturing here.
The Ryan budget wouldn't lower the deficit at all. All of the savings from the draconian spending cuts (which don't include defense and target programs that help the poor and the middle class) would be wasted on tax cuts that will ONLY benefit the wealthiest Americans. And we should at least repeal the Bush tax cuts; that, reducing defense, and reforming entitlements would greatly help our fiscal system. Then we can focus on tax reform.

Gasp - could MaoZeObama be a rereg of banned ComardeObama, a rereg of banned JamesinSeattle, a rereg of banned JasonNYC. Considering this ludicrous list originates from ComradeObama, my guess is YES to all the above.
BINGO!
We have a winner - give the man a Kewpie Doll!
Notice how the nut job from NJ is eerily quite - while she was dogging others other the weekend?
There’s General Electric, whose CEO Jeffrey Immelt has served as chair of the advisory board since January 2011. Since Immelt took over GE in 2001, the company has lost 37,000 American jobs, and added 25,000 jobs overseas, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission
MaoZeObama - oh you really need to try to keep up! GE is building 4 micro centers - manufacturing - back in the US by 2014. They will bring a minimum of 50% of their manufacturing back to the US.
Got anything else?
Obama/Biden 2012
Alright Mao, I'm going to deconstruct and then debase your argument bit by bit. And by the way, I believe you copy and pasted this list from another guy, maybe your alter ego ComradeObama...
Technically, universal healthcare would cover ALL Americans; the ACA exempts about 20 million. And I believe you meant to say "Billion" instead of "Million." By the way, most countries have universal healthcare, and over there (especially in, wait-for-it, "socialist Europe"), costs are down and efficiency/quality are up. France has the world's best healthcare system.
Well, considering that the past 33 years has been dedicated to concentrating wealth at the top, I think a little working/middle class payback is in the cards. We have the most unequal distribution of wealth in the industrialized world; ain't that something to be proud of???
Actually, Obama had a $4 trillion deficit reduction plan based off of the bipartisan Simpson-Bowles commission. But Boehner couldn't garner the votes, even though the deal was (even after Obama moved the goal posts) 3:1 in favor of spending cuts.
Started by the Bush administration. Is at least an attempt to recognize the fact that thousands of guns are shipped from the US to Mexico.
Are you kidding??? Unless that pipeline is built on a safer pathway and we get 50% of the oil, the Canadians can go stick it up their own asses. Why should we take the environmental risk while they get to export all the oil??
A single blip in an widely-successful alternative energy portfolio.
Ha, so raising taxes on the wealthy by 3.6 points, creating 4.4 million PRIVATE SECTOR jobs, and telling everyone that they must take individual responsibility (a conservative concept) to buy PRIVATE health insurance is socialist??? Then that makes the far right Republican Party fascist Nazis.
Thanks to the biggest conservative-caused recession in history.
Don't see the point in commenting on these.
Politifact rated that as 2010's "Lie of the Year," courtesy of Mitt Romney.
Don't care about that. Bush secured funds for a particle collider center in Texas.
4.4 million of 'em.
Because of the recovery and the Iran crisis. I don't see you complaining when gas was at it's highest in decades in the summer of 2008 under Bush???
Actually, 53% of Americans pay the INCOME tax; only 18.1% don't pay any federal taxes. 10.3% are the elderly; 6.9% are below the poverty level; and only 0.9% of Americans are eligible to pay taxes but don't.
Down from 2009 peak and would have been lower had states kept their public workers...
Thanks to the recession and would be lower had Obama had help from Congress.
Don't have much info on that...
Deported record number of illegal immigrants, even more than Bush...
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
I thought the headline read "The importance of vagina". No need to convince me, I've been a fan all my life.
Now we're starting to find out why our friend Willard has been hiding from the press in the Mittness Protection Program. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0811/60444.html He's already become famous for his unwillingness to subject himself to the process that's become normal for those seeking the highest office in the land. Even the scrutiny of his taxes that's become normal for Presidential candidates has been declared off limits by the campaign. It's been obvious to those who think critically that this man is hiding something.
Now we're starting to find out why. It turns out one possibility is that he's far more responsible for outsourcing (oops, I mean "offshoring") jobs and bankrupting companies than he's let on. The other...the ONLY other is that he is in fact a felon in the eyes of the SEC, having lied in official documents and misled investors about his involvement with Bain Capital. http://articles.boston.com/2012-07-12/politics/32633322_1_bain-capital-mitt-romney-financial-disclosure
Chances are there's a lot more that Mr. Romney would like to hide from the American public. Given a choice he would avoid the objective media entirely, preferring to deal exclusively through propagandists and outright liars;
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/06/29/Exclusive-Breitbart-Drudge-Changing-Media
Conservatives are, in fact, trying to make sure NO ONE distributes a message that disagrees with their chosen propaganda points;
Keep that in mind when the usual suspects show up here shortly to insist on knowing why Bo's veterinary records "are being kept secret." Deflection is one of keys to Conservative, Rovian politics. So is attacking your opponent at your own weakest point. That's why the Birthers, Truthers, and other assorted crackpots will be along shortly in an attempt to continue hiding the truth about Romney.
John so true. Around page 2 and beyond is when the real crazies show up.
You noticed that too? lol
It's like a cess-pool of incoherent one liners over there...
I avoid it like the plague!
Yeah, it seems the real crazies on the left show up for the first page of comments.
Media and Congress are giving the insane a voice as if they're normal. THEY ARE NOT NORMAL.
It's the new Republicans doubling down on STUPID. The real Republicans are lost and weak.

If I talk to Breitbart about an issue, thousands more will hear our message than if we give a quote to one of the hill rags.
Breitbart??? This Web Site Smells Worse Than Its Decomposing Founder!!!!
Anyone that is proud of the sloppy and juvenile ravings of Breibart and Drudge is part of the low information electorate.

Obama/Biden 2012
A factual history of Romney and Bain Capitals statements about when he left Bain:
FACT: a press release dated February, 1999, in the Boston Herald stated "Romney said he will stay on as a part-timer with Bain, providing input on investment and key personnel decisions."
FACT: a Bain press release issued on July 19, 1999, stated Romney was "currently on a part-time leave of absence"—and quoted Romney speaking for Bain Capital.
FACT: In 2001 and 2002, Romney filed Massachusetts state disclosure forms stating he was the 100 percent owner of Bain Capital NY, Inc.—incorporated in Delaware on April 13, 1999 (two months after he supposedly retired)
FACT: a May 2001 filing with the SEC identified Romney as "a member of the Management Committee" of two Bain entities.
FACT: in 2007, the Washington Post reported that R. Bradford Malt, a Bain lawyer, said Romney took a "leave of absence" when he assumed the Olympics post and retained sole ownership of the firm for two more years.
FACT: in 2003 a Massachusetts financial disclosure form Romney filed stated he still owned 100 percent of Bain Capital in 2002.
FACT: in 2002 Romney testified before the MA state Ballot Law Commission that his separation from Bain in 1999 had been a “leave of absence” and not a final departure.
FACT: in 2007 and again in 2012 a footnote in his financial disclosure forms stated that “Since February 1999, Mr. Romney has not had any active role with any Bain Capital entity and has not been involved in the operations of any Bain Capital entity in any way,’’
Romney and Bain both now claim he "retired" from Bain in 1999 and had "no active role" or any operational involvement with "any Bain Capital entity" since Feb. 1999.
So creating new subsidiaries, signing SEC documents, being part of the management committee, and retaining 100% ownership until as late as 2003 constitute "no active role"? Maybe that fits Romney's "legal definition" but it sure doesn't pass the "smell test".
Job1
John so true. Around page 2 and beyond is when the real crazies show up.
Job1,
MaoZeObama is the on the craziest red sH!t I've seen in a long time.
John B, TNSEVOL excellent posts!
Romney isn't keeping his tax returns under wraps because, as he claims, there's nothing there to see. When he ran for elective office in earlier years, he refused to give specifics about his policies and plans because, as he said, if he did, people would vote for the other guy. He's doing the same thing on both taxes and his policy ideas today. No doubt, Mitt knows the same applies to his tax returns and his policies; if he tells people, they won't vote for him.
Fired Up, Ready to Go! Obama/Biden 2012.
Okay, First Read, I have heard of burying the lede, but the importance of Virginia? Seriously?
How about the importance of the Republican nominee for President of the United States being a big liar?
And also, too, let me help ya out with something . . . those facts from yesterday about Bain are interesting . . . but do try to keep up . . . the latest is that when Mitt Romney was trying to prove his Massachusetts residency to run for Governor even though he had been paying his taxes and claiming a primary residence in Utah, he used his frequent business trips back for board meetings and the like at Bain to prove how very involved he still was . . . uh huh.
Did I mention that Mitt Romney is a liar?
I know it makes the media sad to see this guy implode before he even gets to the convention, so the attempt to prop his empty @#$ up, but seriously? This aint' even about politics anymore, this is just scary to think that so many "journalists" would just sit back and let this guy even get this far.
Sad.

Questions people are asking.
From Stephanie Cutter:
"It's a pattern of secrecy, and this is just the latest example of him trying to hide the truth from voters. There are a number of issues in play right now -- questions to which voters deserve answers:
1) Why won't Romney come clean about his taxes? He seems intent on being the first presidential nominee in over 30 years to keep his financial records hidden from the American people. Earlier this year, Governor Romney hedged when asked if he'd follow the precedent set by his own father, George Romney, and release multiple years of tax returns. After pressure from fellow Republicans, Romney released one year -- 2010 -- which raised many more questions that full disclosure would answer. Here's why that matters: Presidents make important decisions for this country, and Americans ought to know the motivations behind those decisions.
2) Who are the secret supporters raising millions for his campaign? I'm not talking about the shadowy outside groups -- I'm talking about the people in charge of raising money for Romney's campaign and the Republican Party. Romney refuses to reveal his fundraising "bundlers," something even George W. Bush did when he ran for president. Why is that important? Because we'd never know whether these "bundlers" were getting special consideration in decisions made in a Romney White House.
3) What's up with this corporation in Bermuda? One of the Romneys' assets revealed in his 2010 tax returns is a corporation that had previously been transferred to a blind trust the day before he took office as governor. The single year of taxes he's released shows that at some point it was moved back into Romney's sole ownership. What's going on? And, crucially, what's the purpose of having a corporation in a known tax haven like Bermuda in the first place?
4) Why did he have a Swiss bank account? Even his closest allies, like Republican House Speaker John Boehner, can't explain why any American running for president would have ever kept his money in a secretive Swiss bank account.
5) When exactly did he stop running Bain? Today's Globe story sheds light on the two years he now claims he wasn't running the firm. According to legal documents Mitt Romney signed and filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, he was the sole owner, chairman of the board, CEO, and president of Bain Capital, drawing a salary as an executive until late 2001, and legally responsible for decisions the company made until that time. The Romney campaign denies this report is true, but the SEC documents with Gov. Romney's signature are hard to refute. If he was in charge, it means his role in deals that led to layoffs, bankruptcies, and outsourcing is much deeper than he has admitted to date."
"Everyone deserves the right to judge for themselves whether Romney's motivations, experience, and perspective are what they want in a president. But Mitt Romney doesn't want people to have the information they need to make those judgments."
That was my thought as well in post #3...
I understand that the media will attempt to heal the wounds that Romney inflicts upon himself. But they can only do so much damage control to a candidate that is ill-prepared for such a task as running for the President of the United States of America and the leader of the free world.
Mitt tried to have things both ways---owned 100% of Bain, kept the profits, drew a salary, called it a "leave of absence". Then he saved approximately $54,000 by filing his taxes as a Utah resident. Really---risk the ability to run for governor of Mass for $54,000 when you are worth millions? Then he said---well, I was tied to Mass, came here all the time for meetings, amended the tax returns and voila, is a Mass resident and runs for governor. Now it suits him to say he wasn't involved with Bain so he says that today. How can we believe anything this man says when his every action seems to be motivated by expediency?
Easy folks, the media is just trying to keep the citizens united money flowing. If Romney implodes as he is right before our eye's, then the media will loose all that negative advertising money.
I'm all for them propping Romney up. The longer these stupid rich guys keep spending all those millions on a dead horse the more it helps the economy. Which is good for the country and bad for the republicans.
Romney also flew back from California to vote in the MA special election to fill Ted Kennedy's Senate seat, and despite owning several homes (although none in Massachusetts) he listed his son's basement as his "primary residence".
Massachusetts law defines a residence for voter registration purposes as “where a person dwells and which is the center of his domestic, social, and civil life” and anyone found guilty of committing voter fraud faces up to five years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
So his son's basement is Romney's "center of domestic, social and civl life"? Voter fraud anyone?
Hey, Steeler Fan,
That fluid residency thing continues to benefit him when he claims his son's basement as permanent residency so he could vote for Scott Brown.
Is there anything this liar won't do to get his way? He is seriously deranged about his own 'ETHICS' issues, right?
Here's what I've never gotten about calling the son's basement his residence (although given the fact that Romney thinks garages should have elevators for cars, it could be a swanky basement). What difference does it make now what state he is a resident of? Politically, I mean. It could make a big difference on his state income taxes--perhaps that is what motivated him.
And asking for an ID wouldn't have stopped him from voting in a state where he's no longer a resident, would it?
July 13, 2012
This tight one is starting to open up a little bit more in favor of Obama. So, my current Projection: (Currently the states that will continue to play the biggest in November are Michigan, Ohio, Virginia, and Florida and Wisconsin. For now these states are remaining in the toss up status, while leaning toward Obama. However, if the election were held today, Obama would win the general.
The key months for this race are going to be September and October. And as far as the debates, Romney most likely will have a problem in this area, along with his lack of availability to the press/media.
Also there are the questions for Romney in which he want answer, that are dogging him.
Another issue that will hurt Romney is the battle being waged by the President to raise the taxes on folks earning more than $250,000 a year. This is something that the majority of Americans are for and Romney is against.
For now, the new projected election out come totals are:
Projected Winner Obama 293
Projected Loser Romney 244
If Romney won't face the press in arranged interviews (except of course for hand-picked lap dogs) what chance has he in debate?
Eventually he'll have to face scrutiny. Eventually is sooner than the Romney camp would like for it to be.
project this. project that.
time is running out for the red mendace
So true, ole Willard will fade away after he loses.
Job 1 What alternative universe are you living in. Current polls have the race tied and that is never good for the incumbent politician, no matter what party.
you sound a little desperate there richard.......
For the buttoned down image that Romney likes to project himself to be, there is no way that he didn't have plenty of say in how things were run at Bain between 1999 and 2002. Here's a fellow who in SEC filings for 1999 through 2002 which he signed, is listed as CEO, Sole Shareholder and President. The following is an excerpt from today's Boston Globe.
The Globe’s initial report Thursday focused on apparent inconsistencies between Securities and Exchange Commission filings by Bain Capital — which state that Romney continued to head the firm after Feb. 11, 1999, the date he claims to have retired — and Romney’s most recent submission to the Office of Government Ethics, which says that “since February 11, 1999, Mr. Romney has not had any active role with any Bain Capital entity and has not been involved in the operations of any Bain Capital entity in any way.” Other media have reported similar findings.
Two other documents contain similar information, the Globe found. In his first year as governor of Massachusetts, in 2003, Romney disclosed to the State Ethics Commission that he still owned 100 percent of Bain Capital in 2002. Romney’s state financial disclosure forms indicate he earned at least $100,000 as a Bain “executive” in 2001 and 2002, separate from investment earnings.
Spokespersons for both the SEC and the Office of Government Ethics declined to comment on the record Thursday.
The Romney campaign did not dispute any facts reported Thursday by the Globe but nevertheless requested a correction, saying the story left the false impression that Romney continued to oversee Bain Capital’s day-to-day operations.
Globe editor Martin Baron responded: “Having carefully reviewed that request, we see no basis for publishing a correction. The Globe story was entirely accurate.”
Baron noted that “the Globe story was based on government documents filed by Bain Capital itself” and said the article “also gave a full account of the Romney campaign’s position that, notwithstanding several years of regulatory filings, Mitt Romney ‘retired from Bain Capital in 1999 … [and] has had no involvement in the management or investment activities of Bain Capital, or with any of its portfolio companies, since that time.’ ”
There comes a time when he will have to decide which way was it, and from my perspective, either way he's got a problem. In his eagerness to keep everything secret or at the least stonewall, he has dug a hole for himself.
Lmao....... Where do you get desperate out of what he said? Mr. Obama is supposed to be way ahead at this point as the incumbent. He better make up some real good stories like a version of Hansel and Gretel only call it lil Red & Bev "a thespian tale" Once upon a time there was a 400lb Va.... ummm ewww!

Obama/Biden 2012
Again.....dont you have a UTI to attend too!
I know GBMAMA
either he was so critical to the BAIN success that he claims that as his cred for the ENTIRETY of his tenure there
OR
he was merely a figurehead that just peter principled on up and had nothing to do ALL ALONG
I don't really see how he gets to have it both ways.
But by the contortionism of the Righties,...I see they intend to at least TRY and defend this BS.
So Romney either wasn't the CEO of Bain and signed a legal document saying he was, or he was an absent executive leaving the management to his underlings, or he just phoned it in. All great attributes for a leader.
BTW - going to VA to hear the President speak in person tomorrow! Thanks to my sis who waited on line for two hours for tickets.
Romney only wants to be CEO of Bain Capital when it's convenient for his campaign.
RTFS, have a great time tomorrow.

Obama/Biden 2012
Surely the people in Virginia know better than to vote for the worse President we have ever had...and one that will tell you anything.
January 22, 2009 (two days after taking office) - Obama signs an executive order to close Gitmo within a year.
Yesterday on the news(2012)...Soccer, cable TV at Gitmo? US lockup in Cuba quietly being upgraded...we dont need a man like this in the WH.
Joe66 - Sour grapes there bud??....because you're guy is turning out to be a nightmare rich elitist candidate who spent decades screwing the workers in the USA to make unbelievable profits and at the same time trying his darn best to avoid having to pay his fair share of taxes to the US. I'll bet all those tax returns Mr. Romney won't reveal will show that some years he paid NO taxes. Have a blessed day:))
Actually, the worst President in history is W. Bush and a tie with Herbert Hoover. Thank is a FACT!
Wrong again job1. At least your consistent in your bad judgement though.
Obama worst by far. Jimmy C second worst.
NOPE! The worst President in history is W. Bush and a tie with Herbert Hoover. Thank is a FACT!
laurie-480643
You cant have it all free all the time...but thats what libs think. Vote Republican in November and do the USA A big favor and you'll feel better to.
January 22, 2009 (two days after taking office) - Obama signs an executive order to close Gitmo within a year.
Yesterday on the news(2012)...Soccer, cable TV at Gitmo? US lockup in Cuba quietly being upgraded...we dont need a man like this in the WH.
Conservatives wanted Gitmo as a permanent prison, now they're whining because Gitmo is being turned into a peermanent prison.
Oh, I'm sorry...there really wasn't anything to say beyond "Conservatives are whining."
As always, the far right will not acknowledge that Dubya was even theirs. The fact that Bush is now and will always be the worst President in the history of our country is not even debatable. President Obama - in time - will be viewed as one of the best!
Obama/Biden 2012
Job- "That is a fact." Is that what you're saying? How is it a fact?
The commander in charge of Gitmo explained it all, Fox News just doesn't like to listen. It is a cost savings versus satellite transmissions and more reliable.
The lockup is NOT being upgraded, the base services for our military personnel are. Even if the prison is closed there will still be a need for a base there to harbor refugees, provide local support, etc.
Are you against cable TV for our fighting men and women?
For the record, I can think of no worse a President than James Buchanan. Just think of everything that led up to the Civil War.
richard, suggest you take a look at the battleground state polls before gloating about the single national WaPo poll which show the two tied. There were other national polls that same day which show President Obama leading.
ukidding47
Wrong again job1. At least your consistent in your bad judgement though.
Obama worst by far. Jimmy C second worst
Hey ukidding ,
If Dubya was so great; how come he can't show his face during the campaign to help R-money???
Hell, Dubya can't even leave the states without the fear of being carted off to the Hague for international war crimes!!!
U.S. President Jimmy Carter won the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize and can go anywhere in the world. What has Dubya got besides shoes thrown at him?
Job
Since Obama is way worse than Bush what does that make him.
You have a problem with "facts" so I wouldn't go around trying to say them if I were you. It is a problem with all liberals who live in fantasy land like yourself. No sense of reality or right vs wrong.
These nuts like to repeat the nonsense that Obama has been worse than Dubya, hoping that if they say it enough times, weak minded fools will believe them. What they don't realize is how stupid it makes them look when they say it. Not only is defending Dubya a fool's errand, but such statements put one in the lowest bracket of ill-informed voters.
bev.
Peace prize is your idea of a good president? Not worth anything since this current clown got one for nothing. I did not say Bush was great. He was just alot better than current one.
Someone threw a shoe at him. Big deal. Some whiney Muslum was upset because a President of the United States did not kiss his arse. Sounds like a reason to like President Bush. But you live in Lala land also so facts are foreign to you also.
Beverly - I'd be willing to bet that Bush votes for Obama - pretty sure he did against McCain - against Romney. He'll have a hard time pulling the lever for empty suit!
Obama/Biden 2012
Jody Sure and I could point to polls showing Romney ahead in battleground states but the poll I was referring to was one skewed by 9% democrat and still a dead heat. Not good for an incumbent politician regardless of party. Surely you could agree with that and if not then you are pretty much in lock step with Obama Administration and nothing could change your opinion.
LOL...let the stick people that prop up MSNBC continue to fool themselves over endless drinks and tokes. Obama is a failure...a total failure.... and this campaign is gonna be a turkey shoot. Bye Bye epic fail Obama.
Here's why Romney's explanations don't make sense.....If you are no longer an active manager in day to day activities then why in 2002 did you sign on as the President and CEO of 5 new firms???? Couldn't some other partner or entity sign those documents. It just doesn't pass the smell test to say yes I signed SEC documents saying I was President and CEO and 100% owner but I had not one iota of input or responsibility for what was going on...however I didn't mind taking a salary from the firm. Okay Yeahh!! I guess it's all in what your definition of President & CEO is!
I agree.
Either Romney WAS NOT involved and blindly signed documents (including the purchase of Stericycle, a firm that made money from the disposal of aborted fetuses), or he WAS involved and is now lying about it.
Either way it looks bad for Romney.
He started the business and presumably trained and nurtured the people he turned it over to in 1998. Then Romney is so disconnected from the source of his wealth that it takes a turn towards outsourcing and he says nothing? Doesn't make sense to me.
Yep VA is a problem. Obama has hired over 100,000 more federal "workers" that have moved into Northern VA. These humanity majors will be deciding what health care your Doc will be able to administer to your family in the near future! THey will evaluate your worth to society based on age, race, gender, health history, and perhaps political and sexual orientation. White, senior, male, married is -4 pts going in! Basically, most of my friends are screwed by these 30 somethings. These kids and there life partners will vote for Obama as they would be unlikely to secure employment in the private sector should Romney prevail. VA is a huge concern as to whether the Fed has moved in enough libs to offset the votes of resident Virginians! My heart goes out to the good citizens of the great state of VA as this huge federal hire has in a way de-franchised lifelong residents.
hot daddy-4087878
So, it's much better for private sector "workers" with business degrees from junior college to decide what health care your Doc will be able to administer as is the case now?
Houston - It always amazes me how the "hair on fire" cons seem to think that it's perfectly okay for a worker in a private insurance company that sits there all day making life and decisions as to what claim they'll pay, what procedure they'll deny, what amount of the bill they won't pay as "reasonable and customary charges" but when it comes to the ACA....well that's just a "death panel" denying granny her medication or some life saving surgery. It would be laughable if it weren't so sad.
I don't get where this health care paranoia comes from. People will still be insured by private companies, not the government. And by the way, the insurance companies are already the ones who get the final word on treatment, based on a profit motive that doesn't factor in whether you OR you doctor believe treatment is warranted.
Yeah, it's one big conspiracy by hundreds of thousands of college graduates employed as soldiers in some kind of culture war. Honestly, I understand that people have ideological differences, but this kind of stuff is over the top.
That is what my internalist believes. We have had no problems with Blue Cross, but expect plenty with GovCare in N.VA. You do realize Obamacare moves 1/2 Trillion out of Medicare to pay for indigent and illegal care? I paid in 47 years to medicare for coverage in my "golden years" to see the money spent on people who either are not Americans or are slackers.
Hot daddy, please post a source for your death panel scales. I really have a hard time believing this stuff.
The Affordable Health Care is Here to Stay. Get over it!
Obama - Biden 2012
NOT ONE SENIOR WILL SUPPORT Obama this time who has a brain.
Hotdaddy
Not one American who has a brain will support him.
Here's one who will.... I know who will be looking out for my welfare and it is NOT any Republican. I have plenty of brains and use them too!!.
Anyone, be they young or old, man or woman who is not super wealthy, who votes Republican really needs to have their heads tested. There is nothing in their plans that will help this country be a great place to live and work for the average American. Between their culture wars, the war against women and their terribly flawed candidate for President, they are not good for America.
angie, My wife has been handicapped since around 12 years old when she had her first back surgery. Since then she has had over 140 surgical procedures our dr. has 18 volumes of health records and before electronic records came out she had her own filing cabinet. He sat us down on our last visit to review the changes in treatment and ACA and how he was going to handle his practice. (he isnt they are opting out of all insurances) Visits are cash only Medicare standard fee +10%. He and his legal team reviewed all of his patients and put them into categories based on how they felt the ACA would affect them. Since my wife has only one real (non surgical) Joint left she got her own category. Mind you this Dr. has been the head of Surgery here at a major hospital in Detroit for years. He informed us that the Dr's that will review her next procedure for approval will more than likely not approve any more procedures since they are very expensive and that she on paper will look like its not worth the cost. She will need right and left hips and knees in the next 5 to 10 years, so his recommendation was......for her to limit her time up and walking around to avoid wear. We left the office amazed about how we got to a place like this. When we have paid for everything she has needed in the past and would be able to continue paying in the future..... Talk to some one with real medical issues in Canada or the UK and see how they like their medical system.
Hot daddy - all seniors who are not senile will support President Obama over Romney every day. Our President will continue to work for all the people while Romney frankly doesn't give a damn!
Obama/Biden 2012
Weird?
If all of her joints have already been replaced as you claim except one shoulder - then why would she needs new hips & knees?
Harry - you just can't help yourself can you..?? lol
PS: Good luck to any Dr. who is going to go with a cash only plan.. lmao!
PPS: Stick to your Viet Nam tales & quit pimping out your wife with your bull@!$%#!
jollyoldsoul-
I am sorry but I cannot believe that story is true. The ACA has NO provision for a panel of doctors to override the health insurance companies decisions.
The "panels" in the ACA are part of a cost-control measure to evaluate NEW procedures and medications and verify their level of performance. This panel will then make recomendations as to their effectiveness.
I SAY AGAIN, THERE ARE NO PANELS IN THE ACA THAT EVALUATE INDIVIDUAL PATIENTS AND MAKE DETERMINATIONS ON THEIR TREATMENTS. THAT IS A LIE!!!!!!
UTI girl , They wear out! She had the cups replaced twice already. TN are you a doctor? I trust my doctor, and his team. And Stinky, she broke both her legs at the same time 2 years ago and had both knees out for 8 weeks while the wounds healed. I wouldnt expect you to have any compassion for anyone that didnt get you something.
jollyoldsoul-
I am not a Doctor or a Veterinarian but I can recognize bull-^%$# when I see it.
If your story is true, show me the portion of the ACA that implements that type of panel - should be easy to "Google". Hell, ask your doctor instead of just taking his word - IF he really said such a thing.
Again, I am sorry I don't normally say things like this but someone is LYING - either you or your doctor.
THERE ARE NO PANELS IN THE ACA THAT EVALUATE INDIVIDUAL PATIENTS AND MAKE DETERMINATIONS ON THEIR TREATMENTS!!
Ha, here we go again with the death panels. Did you right-wingers miss the factual finding that "death panels" was the #1 lie in 2009/10? Oh, that's right, facts are insignificant and disposable when it comes to conservative thinking.
Hotdaddy......so repubs are trying to take away voting rights of seniors and elderly with voter suppression laws, and you think they want to vote for the same repubs trying to take that right away?......Not this time.
hotdaddy -- If you are worried about your Medicare or SS I suggest you read the Republicans plans for it. Go to Heritage Foundation . org, google it and read their PLAN. From your comments you are not going to like it.
Jolly (and this is said purely to garner a laugh)
Perhaps you should consider easing up on the chandalier antics?
It's not the years; but the mileage,...lol
Jollyolddoul
Come on, you've been around here long enough to realize that first of all; Liberals are blind heartless fools who hide behind regurgitated gibberish sold to them from their hypocritical elitist leaders. And secondly people like "Fiesty "dumbfux" (fake) redhead" are as liberal as they come. They wish death and pain on people and then accuse the right of being "evil". They take a completely superficial or often times fabricated hunk of dog crap and blather on about it for a week or so until the country gets tired of hearing their rhetoric and then they move on to the next hunk of dog crap served to them on a platter from the unfaithful leaders.
It's simple Jollyoldsoul; Liberalism is anti-American and liberal philosophy along with fabricated sympathy is the primary cause of this country's problems. They're wrong, period, and when faced with truths and proof of their ignorance they just resort to "yo mamma" style comebacks. So smile with amazement at the ignorance that liberalism displays in this country and just keep poking them. They will not disappoint to entertain the hell out of you with their reactions. It's like a carnival, and they're the really creepy clowns that constantly booze up in their trailers before coming out into the light. Then people just stare with a disgusted look on their face and wonder how in the hell anyone could be such a joke.
Anyone but barack 2012! Liberals need to keep that hope alive...cuz that's all they've get left.
So, Mitt Romney is listed in SEC filings as the President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Bain Capital at a time when he claims he had nothing to do with the company's management. The only thing he was NOT was Supreme Ruler and Emperor. So he was legally responsible for all the company's activities and therefore morally culpable for all the companies closed, jobs destroyed, and pension funds ruined during that time.
He may not have been involved in the day-to-day operations of Bain while he was "heroically" saving the Olympics, but does anyone really believe he had no say in the major decisions made during that time? Well, I guess Republicans and "fact" checkers have to believe it because they've invested so much emotionally and professionally into it being true, even thought it's obvious baloney.
Houston - BINGO!!!
Houston-Romney is a man of such stature that your empty suit who is "occupying our White House" could NEVER measure up! I am glad he got his Nobel Prize before he had a presidential record as he would have no chance now. Worst prez in the last 100 years and we all thought Carter had a lock on that one.
Hot daddy - Stature!!!! You're kidding right??? Stature is someone like FDR...a man of great wealth who had compassion and understanding for the masses of society....Stature is someone like Lincoln who cared more about the people of this country than his own political fortunes. Romney is nothing more than a blood sucker...a man of wealth and privilege who used his station in society to attain more wealth and privilege for himself and his investors at the expense of the average working person and at the expense of this country. He's the worst kind of businessman because he took everything he could from this country for himself without regard for what it was doing to the US.
Hot daddy, you're just an angry person, and you know what they say about speaking when you're angry, "you make no sense when you speak in anger". And you are proving that today.
laurie-480643
To conservatives, stature is measured by your net worth, and Romney has $250 million worth of stature. Of course, George Soros has many time Romney's net worth, but that doesn't count because he's a conservative boogy man for supporting progressive causes.
Actually, I measure it by people....... like Teddy Kennedy and Charlie Rangel! You know real people who care about others. Why Teddy even took poor girls out swimming.
Hot daddy - Romney has no stature with anyone of intelligence. He stands for nothing and is for sale to the highest bidder.
Obama/Biden 2012
Okay ... so I'm just reading through all the comments today and come across this ...
So now we're supposed to vote for whoever looks better in a suit? Then I continue reading and get this ...'
Both comments are the most futile ones I've seen by anyone here on why to vote for Romney. If that's all your boy's got, run with that! Actually, it's not bad because truthfully, that's all he is ... an empty suit.
Houston: Have you earned your GED yet? Obama's FIRST real job is President, and he has failed miserably. And if you think it makes sense to "just destroy" companies for a profit, you are trully an idiot. Please do at least a little research on venture capitalists. I know Obama is splitting this country by pitting various classes of people against each other and calling Romney a "Vulture" capitalist. Quite frankly, a vulture capitalist is what we need to analyze all of the current Idiot In Office programs, agencies, etc...Eliminate, consolidate, overhaul, etc...Wow, go figure libs are upset because an astute business mind mind make changes that will affect worthless programs that are draining our budget and costing tax payers billions.
Really Jack? His first "real" job? I guess you missed the professor of constitutional law at Harvard University - you know - that little school in Cambridge with some of the brightest minds on the planet. Or perhaps you forgot that he was a two term United States Senator? You don't think these are "real" jobs?
Failed miserably? How do you justify that one? 28 months of consecutive private sector job growth and 4 million jobs added to the economy, coming out of a horrible recession with no help from the minority party. How is that failure? Please justify your wild assertions, because quite frankly, without doing so, you sound like an idiot.
Let me remind you of the last two "astute business minds" that actually won the white house - Herbert Hoover and George W. Buffoon. These two idiots plunged our great nation into catastrophic free-fall with very similar policy. How is it that Willard Romney is any different in your mind? He is pushing the same policy as Dubya, isn't he?
Let's do some liberal math: You say Obama created 4 million jobs. I guess when you subtract the over 15 million jobs lost, that's not a negative? I own a business and employ 75 people. I can hire 10 tomorrow and lay off 35 on Tuesday. Did I create 10 jobs or lose 25? At least he wasn't a math teacher. And if you do a little more research he was an adjunct professor, which is almost part-time, and he had more absences as a Senator than almost any other during his tenure.
So, I stand by my comment that being President is his first real job; and it shows. I don't hate the guy; I just think he's in way over his head and his philosophy will not stimulate the economy and create private sector jobs. I think Romney has a much better chance at that; which is what is most important right now.
jack - your post is ridiculous - and it shows. In addition to being a constitutional Law professor, he practiced law. Then was state senator and finally US Senator. And, unlike Romney - he didn't lie about his jobs.
Romney is useless as a person and certainly not presidential material.
Obama/Biden 2012
Jack: I take it you are including the millions of jobs lost under the reign of dubya in that indefensible 15 million you just threw out there. I believe it was actually 8 million and those were lost under Bush's reign of terror or overlapping Obama's presidency before he implemented any policy. Obama immediately stopped the hemorrhaging of 750,000 jobs per month that he inherited from the buffoon that preceded him. Have you really forgotten all this Jack? You're an idiot.
I also love how quickly you dismiss the fact that Obama taught constitutional law at Harvard University as not being a "real job". Where do you work? Burger King?
Repeating the GOP propaganda will get you nowhere fast. Most people who visit this site have enough brains in their head to understand you are slinging crap, they just don't call you on it. I'm beginning to wonder why I bother. I already know debating fools is not worth the effort.
seeking: Please give us a few case numbers where Obama the practicing attorney handled. I didn't say he was not a law professor; it was just part-time.
And, here we go again, the Blame Game after 4 years. You people are pathetic.

No, after I got my Masters degree in computer science, I haven't done any more course work.
You sound like you haven't gotten out of first grade yet.
He better start singing like a canary...
I don't know, after listening to him sing Ameriaca the Beautiful I think a duet with Morticia Adams and Yoko Ono might be more pleasant to the ears.
the worst thing they can say about Mitt is he's rich and has off shore accounts?
Barry needs to break out the prayer rug... he's going to need it.
Why didn't I think of this!
A British engineer just started his own business in Afghanistan.
He's making land mines that look like prayer mats.
It's doing well.
He says prophets are going through the roof.
Hi John, Remember when we mentioned the right wing crazies? Well they are h
the worst thing they can say about mitt is hes an oportunist who will sell his soul to make a buck no matter who he destroys doing it.
you trolls need to get a life.
here.
Thanks Amy!
they're always here, there like a mosquito their just little pests that won't go away. Even when you swat one down another takes his place.
Mo-
A lot of them are like pigeons: fly in, crap all over everything, fly off.
...and there persistence makes them appear great in number, when in reality, they are the extreme minority.
Obama smiled and interjected, "Shovel-ready was not as ... uh .. shovel-ready as we expected." The Council, led by GE's Jeffrey Immelt, erupted in laughter.
Yep, Immelt the "Jobs Czar" who is one of the best at creating jobs in CHina! Duh???
Good to see the numbers for job claims went down 25K from the previous week (I'm sure this will be adjusted). I would hope we as Americans would honestly start focusing on this. There will need to be compromise on both sides of the aisle and, quite frankly, less partisanship from the news media outlets. Provoking toxicity whenever possible drives up ratings, but ultimately divides and destroys us as a nation.
Yeah Texas.........and Rick Perry wants to secede from the United States if he doesn't get his way.....How's that working for the uniter repub theme? Ultimate dividers...republicons.
It IS good news that jobs claims went down. I just hope it was not from losing the last of unemployment benifits. Repubs had more take away food stamps provision in Ag bill today. So people are down to starving and repubs take away their only food to help them.....? The repub recovery plan, what won't kill ya, take away to kill ya.
Rick Perry never made that statement and that lie has been debunked numerous times, So either you are a blatant liar or you are an idiot , You chose...Actually you don't have to chose...They both fit you
You are lost in the pines for a reason....rickypoo says....

wow, this is a liberal feeding frenzy. I don't even know where to begin.
I must leave them with you, Good Luck! The debate is whether a man who is a lawyer but never worked one day in the private sector and NEVER held an executive position is more qualified than a very successful turn-around specialist in the world of business; literally saved the winter Olympics single-handedly; and is a competent former governor. There is no factual basis for their arguments other than their "feelings". So hang in there, you have the high road.
Hot Daddy said "literally saved the winter Olympics single-handedly"
Do you know how he saved the Olympics? He got money from the federal government. So no he didn't single handedly save the olympics he got the feds to bail them out, just like he left the fed to bail out employee pension funds after Bain raided them.
plsthink90...try...exit stage ...rt!
heck no, this is to much fun, besides you guys will be exiting stage left, come November!!
the republican party as well as romney are nothing but opportunist selling their soul to the highest bidder. right now its the koch brothers from the john birch society, the oil kings and the contractors.
they have created a loud sucking sound sending waves of vibration across the country spreading lies and fears through radio, print, tech and fear news.
and, we should all fear for our country if these snakes invaid the grass.
Snakes invade the grass? Hell, they are already in DC! This election is a continuation of the 2010 purge.
Obama is attempting to put together a coalition of the "victims". These moochers and "vics" may eventually out number working people, but not yet.
you too funny, hot daddy. mittens is a mamouth bull dozer who will eventually roll you over when you are no longer needed.
run for your life!
Hot daddy is just an angry little man with nothing to say.
looks like he has plenty to say.
Believe me he has nothing to say.
This is nothing more than obama and co panicing because they cant run on there record of Total failure. This story has no legs and even the Washington post says its not true along with an obama insider that also was at Bain.People on Nov.6th at the breakfast table are not going to care when Romney left Bain ,they will be trying to figure out how to make ends meet and the best answer is End obamas administration and thats what they will do ``Its the economy stupid`` will be there focus and by that day they will be informed that obama and success are economic opposites.
fb total failure was GW Bush and Hoover. Total failure is being bitten by the mitten!
Obama will lose Virginia and he will lose the Presidency. Romney and the Republicans sound exactly the right note: cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut... EXCEPT for the military spending that keeps this state alive! Don't cut THAT, never cut THAT, the other guy wants to cut THAT. We're broke, we can't afford anything... except for a trillion-plus per year on military waste.
Sadly, it's going to play. Between the hatred for Obama driving right-wing voter enthusiasm to all-time highs, the spinelessness, directionlessness, and lack of vision on the part of the Dems driving their voter enthusiasm to all-time lows, and the crass, craven hypocrisy of politicians generally and the Republicans in particular, Obama's chances of re-election remain at zero.
"remain at zero".....lmao!
Well, I suppose we'll see on the evening of November 6, but I have said for months that the Republicans could run a moldy octopus and a rusted-out Schlitz can against Obama and win the election, and I stand by my prediction. Romney could probably go on live television every night from now until November and slaughter kittens and he'd probably still win the election.
In the battle between idiocy and evil, evil wins.
The rich said can a poor man hire .why no....but they forgot to ask can a rich man hire,,why no..ask Romney from Bain
There’s General Electric, whose CEO Jeffrey Immelt has served as chair of the advisory board since January 2011.
Since Immelt took over GE in 2001, the company has lost 37,000 American jobs, and added 25,000 jobs overseas, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
MAO....when are repubs going to quit blocking the bill that removes tax breaks for companies that took jobs overseas? We are waiting.......and waiting....and waiting...and waiting....and waiting!
Chris Townsend, political director of the United Electrical Workers labor union that represents roughly 5,500 GE employees in the U.S., said the company has closed more than 30 U.S. plants since Obama took office.
maoze I bet to all the republican stock holders said job well done the profits are up. Thank You GE. Thats the republican way. Your a right winger, I thought its all about profit right? Plus no tax's were paid just the way republicans want it to be.
Okay, this is a repeat but clearly needed for the far right:
might want to look up GE before you post. They are building 4 mico-centers for manufacturing in the US by 2014. Are bringing at least 50% of their manufacturing back here.
Obama/Biden 2012
Since you reposted, clearly this must be reposted for the far left.
Look at GE's involvement with battery develpoment at A123, and how, after recovering their investment with an IPO, the jobs wind up in Finland. You might want to read further, and not stop when something looks good for your candidate.
Roger - what you've posted doesn't change that they are bringing 50% or more of their manufacturing jobs to the US. Your post doesn't negate the facts.
Obama/Biden 2012
This statement is more true than the last. GE will not have 50% of their manufacturing in the US. They may increase their manufacturing employment from the low level it is now, after eliminating 37,000 US jobs. The numbers that I see are 1100 non-manufacturing jobs in Michigan, which is good for the laid off GM engineers; 1300 in refrigeration (total combined for 4 locations), and 400 in PV films. If this is a 50 % increase in manufacturing jobs, it would mean that they have (1300+400)*2 or only 3400 now. They employ a lot more than that. They are also building an R&D center near Dayton (more overhead, more 400 technical jobs, but not manufacturing). If you have further information to back up the 50% number, information that hasn't reached this shareholder, then please let me know.
