Biden knocks Romney in address to NAACP

HOUSTON -- The same audience that booed Mitt Romney yesterday chided Vice President Joe Biden today, but only for ending a laundry list of the Obama administration's accomplishments.

When Biden said he was wrapping up these accomplishments, the audience of a few thousand delegates at the NAACP's annual convention shouted "No!" -- capping off a warmly received address, which warned that a Romney presidency would mean voter suppression, health care "controlled by the insurance companies," and tax hikes on millions of African American families.

Pat Sullivan / AP

Vice President Joe Biden addresses the NAACP annual convention, Thursday, July 12, 2012, in Houston.

Biden, who spoke in lieu of an address from the first black president himself, urged delegates to envision the Justice Department under a Romney administration and warned that advances in civil rights would be erased if Republicans prevail in November.

"Imagine what the Romney Justice Department will look like. Imagine when his senior adviser on constitutional issues is Robert Bork," Biden said, invoking the conservative Supreme Court nominee he famously battled against in the Senate. "Imagine the recommendations for who is likely to be picked as attorney general."

"Did you think we'd be fighting these battles again?" Biden asked.

Eric Holder, the first African American to hold the position as the nation's top law enforcement officer, spoke to the group earlier this week. Biden said that Holder and the president - unlike Republicans - want voting rights to be "expanded not diminished."

Citing Romney's proposed elimination of some tax breaks as a part of his fiscal plan, Biden claimed that a Romney presidency would result in bigger checks to the IRS out of African Americans' wallets.

"He eliminates college tuition tax credit. The earned income tax credit and the child tax credit are cut," Biden said. "The result: 2.2 million African Americans working families will see a tax increase if he succeeds. That's a fact."

Obama did not address the group due to scheduling concerns, according to the campaign, although he has no public events today. The president did appear in the form of a taped video before Biden's speech.

The large convention center ballroom was only about two-thirds full for Biden's speech. Organizers blamed the empty seats on early morning flash flooding that affected delegates' transportation to the event venue.

Attendees praised both Biden and Romney for addressing the mostly Democratic-leaning organization.

"It was a family affair, a family connection," said community development officer Alan Watkins of Houston, who said he did not fault Obama for not appearing in person. "I completely understand that the president is busy, The fact that he sent his next person in line was great."

Charles Warfield, an NAACP chapter president for Kalamazoo, Mich., said that Biden served as an effective emissary precisely because he is not African-American.

"He probably was a better choice for this convention because it would have made Barack look like, because he's black and we're black that we are in sync with everything," Warfield said. "But Vice President Biden hit every nail on the head."

Warfield lauded Romney for speaking to the group yesterday, despite broadly disagreeing with the GOP presidential nominee's agenda.

That sentiment was echoed by Marcus Barnum, a Houston financial adviser.

"I applaud his effort coming to an event such as this, because we need to hear from him," Barnum said. "I think it's important for him to try to win our vote as well."

Romney Invested in China

NEW Today (07/11/2012): On April 17, 1998, Brookside Capital Partners Fund, a Bain Capital affiliate, filed a report with the Securities and Exchange Commission noting that it had acquired 6.13 percent of Hong Kong-based Global-Tech Appliances, which manufactured household appliances in a production facility in the industrial city of Dongguan, China. That August, according to another SEC filing, Brookside upped its interest in Global-Tech to 10.3 percent. Both SEC filings identified Romney as the person in control of this investment: "Mr. W. Mitt Romney is the sole shareholder, sole director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Brookside Inc. and thus is the controlling person of Brookside Inc." Each of these documents was signed by Domenic Ferrante, a managing director of Brookside and Bain.

The SEC filings do not reveal how much Romney initially invested in Global-Tech (which is now known as Global-Tech Advanced Innovations). But Brookside first acquired 748,000 shares at a time when Global-Tech was mounting an IPO at $19 a share. If that was the purchase price Brookside paid, then Romney's firm originally invested $14.2 million in the company.

At the time Romney was acquiring shares in Global-Tech, the firm publicly acknowledged that its strategy was to profit from prominent US companies outsourcing production abroad. On September 4, 1998, Global-Tech issued a press release announcing it was postponing completion of a $30 million expansion of its Dongguan facility because Sunbeam, a prominent American consumer products company and a major client of Global-Tech, was cutting back on outsourcing as part of an overall consolidation. But John C.K. Sham, Global-Tech's president and CEO, said, "Although it appears that customers such as Sunbeam are not outsourcing their manufacturing as quickly as we had
anticipated, we still believe that the long-term trend toward outsourcing will continue." Global-Tech, which in mid-1998 announced fiscal year sales of $118.3 million (an increase of 89 percent over the previous year), also manufactured household appliances for Hamilton Beach, Mr. Coffee, Proctor-Silex, Revlon, and Vidal Sassoon, and its chief exec was hoping for more outsourcing from these and other American firms.

The Romney campaign and Bain Capital have insisted that Romney departed Bain in February 1999 to head the troubled 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and had no involvement in the private equity firm's deals after that point—a contention that has been challenged by the Obama campaign. But the
Global-Tech Appliances transactions occurred long before Romney jetted off to Utah.

Dennis do you understand what this means?

Let me help you. Wholly owned companies that Romney had nothing to do with had decided to build their products in other countries. Romney invested in the companies that were going to build those products.

Do you have any investments outside the US?

Gosh Dennis ... Romney was making a return for his investors, union pensions, etc, and Obama was community organizing, traveling abroad, writing 2 books about himself, running for office ... not much chance to invest in anything, huh?

How about Obama as President?

What has he done with tax payer dollars other than to invest hundreds of millions in Fisker and Tesla - cars that are made overseas by foreign workers .... battery companies that are now moving to Russia ... btw - is that not outsourcing?

Other than giving billions of tax payer dollars to Petrobas / Soros to drill off Brazil while shutting down drilling in the US ..... btw - is that and saying "we want to be your best customer - not outsourcing?

Other than that little stuff ... what has Obama done well besides having a job czar that ships jobs overseas for medical diagnostic equipment, wind turbines, jet engines .... oh yea ...GM Volts etc ..

From the Washington Post ....

The Russian government more than doubled its U.S. contracts last year by providing helicopters for Afghanistan and rides to the International Space Station.

Companies run by the Russian government received $792 million in direct federal awards in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, compared with $342 million the year before. They were among 30 prime vendors based outside the United States ranked in a Bloomberg Government study of the largest 200 federal vendors in fiscal 2011. Those contractors — including Rome-based Finmeccanica SpA and Russian arms trader Rosoboronexport — attracted almost $29 billion in direct awards, about 8.6 percent of the top 200 total of $338 billion, according to the study.

…Other foreign companies on the top 200 list included holding company Finmeccanica, whose units received $1.3 billion in direct awards last year for products including military aircraft components; oil vendor BP, with $1.4 billion; and Amsterdam-based military food supplier Supreme Foodservice, with $2 billion.

Obama is using taxpayer dollars to outsource $29 BILLION for services that Americans can easily provide?

Btw - Did Romney ever use tax payer dollars against the tax payers?

So in summary, Dennis what does that make the score on outsourcing?

Obama - $29 Billion +

Romney - $0

Where is the fairness in this?

In a second report, the CBO said that in both 2008 and 2009, the highest-earning 20 percent of taxpayers paid 94 percent of the total income tax burden – up from 86 percent in 2007, and 81 percent before the 2001 tax cuts. In other words, higher-income Americans have been paying a bigger and bigger part of the total tax burden under the so-called “Bush tax cuts.”

And the beat goes on...

Anyone want to defend how Willard's signature is on a 2001 document with the title CEO amongst other things?

Earlier this month, FactCheck.org stated that if Mitt Romney had not left Bain Capital in 1999, he "would be guilty of a federal felony by certifying on federal financial disclosure forms that he left active management of Bain Capital in February 1999."

FactCheck.org made that argument to dismiss complaints by President Barack Obama's campaign, but a new Boston Globe report on Romney's true tenure at Bain Capital — which reportedly lasted until 2002, three years longer than Romney has stated — brings FactCheck.org's statement into sharp relief.

"The Obama complaint claims we erred in saying Mitt Romney gave up active management of Bain Capital in early 1999 to run the 2002 Winter Olympics, insisting we were then wrong in saying Romney was not responsible for shipping U.S. jobs overseas," FactCheck.org's Brooks Jackson and Robert Farley wrote in a response to the Obama campaign, which had complained about an earlier article by the authors.

"In fact, if the Obama campaign were correct, Romney would be guilty of a federal felony by certifying on federal financial disclosure forms that he left active management of Bain Capital in February 1999

I wonder who Biden plagiarized the speech from seeing as since his college days he's never done anything original. Of course Joe was on fire. The sackless loudmouth is only on fire in front of groups pre-screened to applaud him. Romney has the sand to say things people don't like, Biden and Obama are just cowards who can only speak before fawning sycophants. I doubt anyone can be trained to be Feisty as infantile ignorance is usually genetic and not learned behavior. Your avatar brands you a simpleton ma'am. Gotta love Democrats. Hey Bev -- It seems Florida has a lot of problems with those republicans.

In Florida, Republicans are raising the cost of healthcare and a guy who is a major fund raiser for Romney is helping them.

Alarmed by the costs, some states, including California and Oklahoma, have clamped down on the practice. But legislative and regulatory battles over it are playing out in other states like Florida, Hawaii and Maryland.

In Florida, a company called Automated HealthCare Solutions, a leader in physician dispensing, has defeated repeated efforts to change what doctors can charge. The company, which is partly owned by Abry Partners, a private equity firm, has given more than $3.3 million in political contributions either directly or through entities its principals control, public records show.

Insurers and business groups said they were amazed by the little-known company's spending spree. To plead its case to Florida lawmakers, Automated HealthCare hired one of the state's top lobbyists, Brian Ballard, who is also a major national fund-raiser for the Mitt Romney campaign.

Feisty, another good article showing Romney lied about Bain. It also makes the Romney ad quoting Hillary Clinton "shame on you" a farse because President Obama's ad is correct, Romney still had ties to Bain and was making decisions.

I do so enjoy how the conservatives spin in every direction to defend Mitt Romney's outsourcing jobs and buying companies that outsourced jobs. What the heck? Looks as if Mitt couldn't find any more US companies to buy and bankrupt then ship overseas so he outsourced buying companies, too? Now that's spin but at least it is closer to the reality that is Mitt Romney.

I was hoping that the Vice President would tell us how the President is going to keep his promises regarding the economy. WAC -key,

I wasn't defending anyone, but I wasn't attacking either. And for your information, mayoral and city council positions are non-partisan. There are no party primaries to determine candidates. But if you want to go down that road, many small towns that are losing populations have Republican mayors. And if you want to go with big cities Xavier Suarez was the Republican mayor of Miami from 1985 to 1993, when crime per capita was extremely high.

Nice effort at distraction team, Snuffy gets a point and WAC-key gets credit for an assist. The original question was how do you think government run? By spending money. Sure you don't like the way your tax dollars are being spent, who does? I think giving foreign aid to places like Syria is outrageous. But this is a democratic-republic.

Try to stay on topic next time.....

The regulars here reference factcheck.org as a place to go for the "real facts".

I went to factcheck.org and this is what I got.

*UPDATE: 7:25 pm ET: FactCheck.org has resoundingly rejected the Obama campaign’s request for a correction to their report. Reporters Brooks Jackson, Robert Farley and Eugene Kiely review point by point Cutter’s claims and argue that if what she insinuates were true, then Romney would be guilty of a federal felony. But she doesn’t produce any concrete evidence that Romney maintained a direct management role after February 1999, they say.

“After reviewing evidence cited by the Obama campaign, we reaffirm our conclusion that Romney left the helm of Bain Capital when he took a leave of absence in 1999 to run the Salt Lake City Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics - as he has said repeatedly — and never returned to active management,” the trio writes.

“The Obama campaign’s recent ads thus mislead when they point to investments made by Bain, as well as management decisions made by companies in which Bain invested, after that time. The Obama campaign’s objections are contained in a six-page letter sent to us (and — without notice to us — to other news organizations as well). It cobbles together selective news snippets and irrelevant securities documents in an attempt to show that Romney was still running Bain Capital on a part-time basis while he was also running the Olympics committee.

“In a nutshell, the Obama campaign is all wet on this point,” they conclude.

Nothing helps the Republican cause more then letting a buffoon like Biden lead the party. Yes I said lead the party because Obama blew off the NAACP convention. But middle class Joe as he decided to call himself yesterday, charged in and rambled like always. Joe can identify with his audience, after all he only spent 40 years in the senate and last year he as his wive made almost 400K. But he is middle class Joe when it is pandering time, which is every speech anyone in the Obama administration gives. Joe led on gay marriage, led with the NAACP, and now he is going to Disney World. Wait, Joe lives in the land Disney makes up, while his real home town of Scranton PA is on the verge of declaring bankruptcy. Say it ain't so Joe. Why aren't all your liberal rantings working for the country Joe? What a total buffoon.

DS: I see you have taken the low road with attacks. Too bad you know not what you speak of. Maybe you can share how your conservative run local government is better?

Low road? You're the one name calling, I just state the truth. As to your question, lets see, schools are well funded with local taxes, not dependent on the state or the feds, 99% graduation rate, 96% go on to college. City government has a balanced budget. Taxes are reasonable. Terrific parks and recreation facilities. Diverse industrial and corporate presence to support well paying jobs. Crime rate is very low. Roads are well maintained, trash collected, and emergency services are tops. Great hospitals and medical support. Unemployment is well below the national average and elected officials are mostly Republican.

And Detroit DS? How things going for you?

Just like Obama wasting $4 billion in deficit spending each an every day. Explain the fiscal responsibility of that bayllie.

let's see:

gov spending has risen under Obama, mostly because of the $800 billion stimulus designed to offset the massive recession Obama inherited from Bush. But the increase in federal spending under Obama is compared to the huge increase under Bush.

2008-2008: Federal spending rose by $1.3 trillion, from $1.9 trillion a year to $3.2 trillion a year.

Let's not forget that most of 2009 spending also belongs to Bush. 18% increase in spending in fiscal 2009 was mostly due to appropriations and policies that were already in place when Obama took office.

On Jan. 7, 2009, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office issued its regular budget outlook, stating: “CBO projects that the deficit this year (2009) will total $1.2 trillion.”

2009-2011: Federal spending has risen by $600 billion, from $3.2 trillion a year to $3.8 trillion a year. It has also now begun to decline.

Federal government spending under Bush increased twice as much as it has under Obama.

While unemployment under Bush was rising - and the fastest in 2008, the unemployment had been going down under Obama. You may not like how fast but at least it's not increasing like it did under Bush.

While government jobs under Bush increased affecting his unemployment numbers in a POSITIVE way, the government jobs have been decreasing under Obama, affecting his unemployment numbers in a NEGATIVE ways.

What else would you like to know?

Organizers blamed the empty seats on early morning flash flooding

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Yeah right. They were empty because the common sense members of the NAACP see the flood of incompetence coming from Obamaville and what an unmitigated failure his presidency has been.

Poor Joe "Bite Me" Biden gets thrown out to pander for Barrack Hussein and just parrot the typical DNC diatribe as black unemplyment is over 14%, young unemployment is over 50% and 45 years of the "War on Poverty" has been an abysmal failure.

Urban America is not only collapsing it's going bankrupt. As "Bite Me" goes through his gyrations and blathers his instructed nonsense the unwashed masses blindly cheer for more abuse. It's sad to see a good, hard working, God fearing people so indoctrinated in the Liberal lies desperately grasping to be able to achieve only to be slapped down time after time by the Liberal cabal.

The only problem I can see is at this time the Middle income people are being hit hard pulling the load which is not distributed fairly, and if the GOP should some how Win the Presidency they will feel the hit even harder. But there is one thing that Romney has to offer, He likes to fire people and this believe it or not is just what is needed, our Government has way to many employee's feeding of the Governments tit, and eliminating a few hundred thousand of them would be a start in the right direction, only problem is We'd lose way to much TAX dollars, and We all know the Republicans have made a pledge NOT to raise the RICH peoples taxes so that would once again fall on the Middle income and the poor don't pay taxes so they would cut their social programs, so if people think they've got it hard now, this will seem like a walk in the park, but the sheep with the blinders on all have their radio's tuned to talk a radio station telling them how the Republicans will fix everything but see that does not include them if their not RICH, Oh well.

So they send in middle class Joe, who is just going to make it up as he goes along, just like he always does. For Obama supporters, talk means more then actions, and there in lies the problem. The bottom line is that Biden appeared before the NAACP and his speech was thoughtful and well-reasoned. Romney's speech, in contrast, was confrontational in tone and it proved Mitt is completely out of touch with minority voters, as his staggeringly boneheaded speech in June before a crowd of Latino activists confirms. Either Etch-A-Sketch needs to get new speechwriters or he needs to concoct a completely different political agenda because the one he has right now isn't working.

How anyone could ever vote for Obama is beyond me, we've wasted 3.5 years of on the job training for this? He isn't even a nice man! News flash, Obama created the Internet. No wait, that was another Democratic Presidential candidate Al Gore. News flash, John Kerry has offshore accounts and does banking over seas, but he was a Democratic Presidential candidate so that is okay. Which is true, nothing illegal about it even if liberals are somehow trying to paint Romney as less qualified to be president then a community organizer.

Of course there are no places in the US to have the Olympic uniforms made, those jobs were outsourced by Democratic President Bill Clinton when he signed NAFTA into law. News flash Obama saved the world from a depression, played a round of golf, and still had time to go to Disney World. For middle class Joe to make up something so ridiculous shows how stupid he feels his audience was, saved the world from depression.

No reason to write new history books for education, because the Democrat Party just makes it up as they go along. All that is missing from the Democratic Party is the funny nose and glasses. The theme song for the Democratic Party convention has to be Send In The Clowns.

They will do this to deflect from their real failures. Just wait. The closer we get to November the less and less you will hear from democrats how they plan to fix the economy. They will focus on hot button issues that energizes their base, like raising taxes on the so called wealthy. This is the one thing that all economists agree will have no effect on reducing the deficit. None of that will have anything to do with reducing the federal deficit or creating real jobs. Democrats will not care.

I can tell the mindset at the NAACP is still governed by how much they can receive from the government, but Obama didn't give out free cars and houses like was imagined in 08... and of course ole Joe laid it on thick... not so much what Obama can give them, but in the amount of lies he told about what Romney will take away from them... Not a single iota of proof, just lies and typical liberal rethoric.

What is black, runs fast and goes "ho-de-doe, ho-de-doe"

That joke didn't name a person; translation, it wasn't a personal attack on anyone just an inanimate group of unknowns. Just like GT's, that is why I cut and pasted your response in there. The people GT was making fun of know exactly who he was talking about and were most like insulted and it was a cheap shot. I bet most people that read the joke I include know exactly who I am talking about and are insulted and I don't blame them and I only included that joke to make a point. If you make a bigoted remark about one group of people then you are a bigot pure and simple

I have a huge problem with those that practice bigotry then point their fingers at others. I have friends that are liberals and they are not hypocrites like most of the FR posters here.

You so called liberals have lied about what the Tea Party is until people are actually beginning to believe your lies and then you complain about what the Tea Party has "morphed" into. Do you people have no shame?

Romney = Dubya Part Deux - Only in the mind of a liberal that has no concept of what liberalism is all about... feel good is only a small portion of being a liberal. It would take a dissertation to explain it to you, and since you probably have little to no reading comprehension it would be a total waste of time to educate you.

BrianB. Liberalism is 1776 and our Founding Fathers declaring independence from Britain. The conservatives back then supported the Red Coats--change was as scarey to them as it is to today's conservatives. Liberalism is ending slavery, giving women the right to vote. Liberalism is tolerance of others beliefs and differences.

Romney plans to cut taxes even more for the wealthiest 2% and it is unfunded; he plans to increase military spending even more as if that's all that matters in America. Romney can't cut domestic spending enough to come close; the Romney/Ryan his tax plan adds $6 trillion to the debt. Romney in the debates threatened war with Iran, North Korea and who knows who else he's likely to invade. He plans to repeal the new financial reform legislation to allow Wall Street to do again what they did under Bush, etc etc etc. JP Morgan Chase, Barclay's, MF Global still play the risky game because the law hasn't taken full effect--Jamie Dimon says trust them despite having lost $9 Billion of investor money.

Wishing Romney wasn't Bush Part II is like wishing for 90 degrees in January in Alaska but you just keep on believing that repeating the failed tax and deregulation policies of Reagan, Bush and Bush won't give us the same result or worse.

Romney scripted for the boos to set up for his fundraiser later that day. He attempted to make the NAACP seem petty but made himself look like the antagonist instead. Biden was genuine and a great spokesperson in the President's place. I still believe the Romney campaign is nothing but a great big ponzi scheme to walk away with millions of dollars in Republican donations. The many advertising agencies, analysts, campaign advisors, pollsters, etc. etc. are all his buddies. He won't hire real professionals because he has no intention of winning the Presidency. He just wants to make himself and his buddies wealthier. If by chance, and total default, he wins the Presidency that just means even more money for himself and his buddies. Republicans beware.

Anna, that makes too much sense. There is no logic in spending billions of dollars for a, what $400,000 dollar job? And any investor of normal logic would not invest this kind of money on the "hope" of a return. With a 50% chance of losing it all I think most investors would rather look for better chance of gains. Would someone help me with the reasons for the huge amounts of money flowing into these elections. Please just a discussion no rants just give me some real ideas.

When you have a president that saved the world from a depression, about the only thing that could make him look better is if he dressed as a caped crusader. Plaster the letters B O on his chest and pose in front of flags from all the countries he is proud to protect. Hopefully he can find a local tailor so his uniform does not say made in China, but even that would be fitting for the man that saved the world from a depression. Wow are liberals really this stupid? Obama is really the best candidate liberals could find?

Hillary Clinton accused Obama of lying about her during the last campaign. Obama continues to lie about Bain Capital. Middle class Joe makes up some ridiculous story about Obama saving the world from a depression. The Obama campaign accuses Romney of committing a felony. Talk about looking and acting more like a stooge then a president, and yet liberals feel others are making Obama look good? Well at least the Democratic Party is good for a laugh, even if Obama has been a total failure for this country.

Please lay off Mr. Romney. It is important that he become the nominee before the entirety of his morality is exposed. There will be ample opportunity to further explore these topics after the convention. At this point there is a reasonable chance he will not be the GOP candidate .

B White - I think you and I are on to something here, none of the republican's running in Tennessee even mention his name! by this time in 2004 all the republicans running for every office, local, state, and national were spouting McCain, and how they would support him if elected. Of course, Mitt has a bigger problem in the south than he realizes, the GOP is aware of it, they haven't a clue how to fix it unless they choose someone else at the convention - Mitt is a Mormon, he will not carry members of the SBC or Bubba - those folks are never going to vote for someone who thinks Joseph Smith is a profit sent from God. Add the SEC/Bain mess to this and I think the GOP and Mitt have just stepped in a big pile of you know what that is not going to come off those wingtips anytime soon.

Reasonable to me would be something that could possibly happen such that it would not be an astounding event. Certainly no more than a 10% chance would be needed to make such an assertion. It need not at all to be likely to be reasonable. Likewise, I also think it would be reasonable for Obama to not be the Democratic nominee, for a variety of different reasons. Politics is fluid by nature. Yet lest this seem unnecessarily broad, I would not have said the same about Kerry or McCain. Naturally you could have looked up a dictionary definition as easily as myself so assumed you wished my personal take on this subject, and I have been pleased to inform you of it. Very happy to have helped you out.

Take a good, close look at GT's avatar and tell us how it is the republicans that are the ones that can come up with nothing but hate.

                    Should Romney disclose his previous
                    tax details?

So far, much has been said about Mitt Romney taxes. Some of
things are that he didn’t break any law and therefore he hasn’t got legal
obligation to publish his previous taxes. The other is there is bigger issue to
discuss: the economy, and people should focus on it instead of wasting time
demanding publication of his previous taxes.

Having read the both sides of arguments about whether or not
he should publish his taxes, personally, I think he should publish and I am
                    prepared to explain why.

Firstly, as a presidential runner he should understand that
being a law obedient citizen by only itself is not enough and there are moral
aspects need to be discussed in order to define his character. People will have
interest to know his values and the best way to know them is by examining his
actions, both past and present and not by listening to what he says. Many
people have done things in the past not because they were obliged to do so by
law, but they felt there were moral obligations to do so and that includes
president Obama himself. When he faced public demand to know his origin place
of birth, he published his birth certificate. Even bankers give up their
bonuses not because of legal requirements but they know that tax payers have
been stretched out financially in order to fund their organizations therefore,
they feel a need of showing their empathy to the public.

Secondly, other people argue that there are far more
important issues to discuss such as economy and Mitt Romney’s tax issue is just
a trivial matter. I believe the economy is the top issue but it shouldn’t
forbid other issues being discussed. I believe the tax issue matters to the
                    people as well that’s why it has been discussed and attracted much attentions;
as I have explained in the above paragraph, people have the right to know values
of their potential president. After all this is the person who could be running
the economy and people should know where he stands in all different aspects.
Only by understanding his values the voters will know his what his priorities
are and kind of decisions he is likely to make if elected. What if he pulls the
country out of the economic troubles but only allocates the benefits to only
                    small number of people?

People need some answers, the sooner the better.

Lets see President Obama school records he has sealed, this is more intriguing than Romney's tax return as the IRS has probably already done a review, but no one can review President Obama school records what is he hiding could he have broken a law, I vote that Romney not show his tax returns until Obama unseals his school records, both aren't really important, but my bet is Obama has more to hide than Governor Romney.

Nobody had anybody's school records sealed. How silly. Everyone's school records are private, even for public figures. Next, I suppose you'll say that millions of dollars have been spent so lawyers can keep his school records sealed. Even though everyone's records are already automatically private.

As Rick Perry would say, "oops." I suspect the reason the President is not releasing his school records is the same reason George W. Bush refused to release his records: it's irrelevant. Also, haters gonna hate, as we saw when the President gave in to the racists and released his birth certificate. He knew that would never satisfy the racists and haters, so what's the point?

Nice tu quoque attempt though, but Romney is actually hiding something here, and it's relevant.

Clearly exposing that Obama once went on a panty raid is equally as important as knowing if the man wanting to be POTUS has committed income tax evasion or did acts that would be viewed as harmful to this country or it's people.

Callmebad: Not everyone is as nosy about others income taxes. I'm sure his 600 page 2010 income taxes, poured over by 1000's of accountants and most of the Obama staff, would have mentioned something if it had there had been suspicious items. Obama is running on empty right now and is looking for anything to deflect from the serious issues facing Americans. IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID.

By the constitution a person not born of American parents and not born in this country is ineligible to serve as president of this country and there was some question about Obama's citizenship. Like you said, "People need some answers, the sooner the better." It took Obama a little over two years after he took office to put those concerns to rest.

No one is required by law to provide their tax returns and Romney is not even been nominated as a candidate for the Presidency. You liberals just need some more material to spin and lie about to propagandise an unsuspecting public into giving your man the power to destroy our Republic. There are those of us that are going to resist you all the way.

First let's be clear that Romney has already served in political office and has been vetted and released what he is required by law. Secondly, I don't think that anyone should be bullied into doing something they are no required to do should do just satisfy the right or the left, that includes birth certificates, Trumps just a butt hole.

That aside this is utter nonsense, this tactic was used back in Mass when he was running for Governor, this is nothing more than a tactic to pivot from Obama's bad record. Nice try, but I think that the Obama camp has hit a new low in politics with this one.

                      http:// politicalticker.blogs.cnn.c om/2012/07/13/massachusetts-commissions-finding-romney-left-bain-in-99/

I don't think that Obama should have been bullied into showing a birth certificate anymore than Romney should be bullied into releasing anymore tax returns then the law requires or he chooses to do of his own will.

It just saddens me that politics has stoop to the level it has and sites and stations like MSNBC and FOX have raided the media with bias views that are toxic to the air waves. I know one thing for certain Tim Russert must be roiling in his grave at the behavior of the likes of Chis Matthews and Lawrence O Donald, whatever happen to real journalism is what I want to know.

Perhaps Biden does not understand the difference between paying taxes and receiving a welfare handout.

To quote, "He (Romney) eliminates college tuition tax credit. The earned income tax credit and the child tax credit are cut," Biden said. "The result: 2.2 million African Americans working families will see a tax increase if he succeeds. That's a fact."

None of these are tax deductions that offset earnings. Rather they are welfare payments administered through the Internal Revenue Code. Earned income credits is a welfare payment paid through the tax system. So is child tax credit. And, I believe so is the college tuition tax credit. None of these are taxes assessed against tax payers.

So, where is the tax increase? Has it come to the point that a reduction in welfare is considered a tax increase? Many of the recipients of these welfare handouts pay zero in income taxes. Zero. But to Dems, it appears decreasing welfare handouts is tantamount to increasing taxes on these folks. Well, whatever the percentage increase is, an increase on zero still remains zero. Simply math. But perhaps too complex for the politicians running this country.

Biden, who spoke in lieu of an address from the first black president himself, urged delegates to envision the Justice Department under a Romney administration and warned that advances in civil rights would be erased if Republicans prevail in November.

Why is Joe, a white liberal trying to scare or put the fear factor in the black American population?

So let me understand the end game here, the NAACP is suppressing those to attend the convention that dont have a government issued ID? Is that called exclusion by class?

But you do understand that if not for Republican party, slavery might still be intact? In the beginning, when slavery was abolished, blacks were primarily Republicans. The Democrat party was associated with the KKK and considered pro-slavery. Many (Black included in that) feel the Democrats discovered a way to control black Americans through government assistance programs that seemed to be for help but were merely crumbs in exchange for freedom that lead to the decline of the Black American family. Do you disagree? How far back are you able to follow the history through your family?

Too bad the NAACP is not an important enough organization for the President to show up in person. The President must figure that their votes are a certainty so it is was as waste of time for him to actually show up. I was hoping that the Vice President would tell us how the President is going to keep his promises regarding the economy. For example how is the President going to make sure that the 2012 federal deficit does not exceed 229.27 billion dollars as he had promised the nation? We are talking about our nation here and all Americans should be concerned about our country's fiscal standing. I have yet to hear anything from the administration regarding our ever increasing trade deficit which is what is really killing the economy. Injecting all the money on earth into our economy will not keep the economy going if the money all leaks out to foreign nations. It seems that our current administration is playing a game of Fantasy Economics. I guess that the NAACP is not an important enough of an organization for the administration to present the real economic problems that this nation faces.

Releasing the returns allows us to see how he invests...in China, in off-shore accounts etc. and this would really kill his election chances. And not releasing them only builds the collective suspicion that he does indeed have something to hide.

Word Kamo! Being half Cherokee, I'm considered a minority, and if I chose to do so, I could move back to Oklahoma (where we were forced by gunpoint to move, but I guess that's a different story...), and have the government build me a house for next to nothing, have access to FREE medical care, and slip into alcoholism while enjoying that government cheese. Instead, I chose to follow in my Father's, and Grandfather's steps, and move away from an economically depressed area (read: move away from government hand-outs), and try to make it on my own. After serving in the military for three years, then going to college, I have done exactly that. Just like my Father before me, and his Father before him. My Grandfather realized a long time ago, that to receive a government handout is paramount to surrendering one's self to the whims of said government, which I personally feel makes you less of a person. I understand the needs of some to have a safety net provided by the government, but to depend on this for your livelyhood, generation after generation is idiotic. Not to mention demeaning. But that's exactly where the liberal politicians want the minorities to be, dependant on THEM to provide for our families. Well sir, I'm not buying it for a second. That having been said, I have never, and will never vote democratic. It's just that simple. I actually enjoy making a living, and providing for my family WITHOUT the help of some idiot in Washinton trying to make my decisions for me.

                              From the speech yesterday.....

“With 90 percent of African-Americans voting for Democrats, some of you may wonder why a Republican would bother to campaign in the African American community, and to address the NAACP. Of course, one reason is that I hope to represent all Americans, of every race, creed or sexual orientation, from the poorest to the richest and everyone in between.

But there is another reason: I believe that if you understood who I truly am in my heart, and if it were possible to fully communicate what I believe is in the real, enduring best interest of African American families, you would vote for me for president. I want you to know that if I did not believe that my policies and my leadership would help families of color -- and families of any color -- more than the policies and leadership of President Obama, I would not be running for president,” Romney said. “I am running for president because I know that my policies and vision will help hundreds of millions of middle class Americans of all races, will lift people from poverty, and will help prevent people from becoming poor. My campaign is about helping the people who need help. The course the President has set has not done that – and will not do that. My course will.”

And still our country flounders, stagnant on the Island of Bad "O"-conomy...

with a dismal 8.2% unemployment rate and massive debt....

                              What now?............Vote Obama?..........for what?...........More of the same?.........

Ironically, China practically owns America via our debt to them....so indirectly..........

Romney's Blind Trust is run by his longtime lawyer friend, R. Bradford Malt. Mr. Malt is the President of Willard's Bermuda company Sankaty.

One of the investments that Mr. Malt made with Romey's trust was to put $10 million into a company named Solamere. Solamere's co-founder is Willard's son Tagg Romney and Mitt's campaign’s National Finance Chair, Spencer Zwick.

What? You don't know where your money is? You don't know what your money does? Really?

Willard's Blind Trust doesn't seem so blind now, does it?

                                Willard is LYING.

It does not matter, IT IS HIS MONEY! I am sorry that you are so jealous that he is rich and you are poor.
