Obama: 'Urgency'

The Hill: “A new urgency has swept into President Obama’s campaign as disappointing fundraising numbers have emerged alongside the shaky economy as a major threat to his prospects for reelection. While the president’s aides originally maintained they wouldn’t be moving from “zero to 60” when they launched their campaign in May, now, with less than four months until Election Day, it appears they’re pushing down harder on the pedal.”

Karl Rove in the Wall Street Journal: “Elections are about numbers, and right now the president's are bad.”

Fact Check: The Washington Post fact checks the GOP’s charges on President Obama’s outsourcing record.

Sorry sirie, four more years. It's a done deal, live with it. And we haven't even gotten to the debates yet. President Obama will destroy Romney in the debates.

Karl Marx Rove is pure evil, a socialist SOB named after the founder of socialism. He wants welfare ... for the rich, continued forever from the Bush tax cut for the wealthy.

I don't get it. In 2008 the Economy went to hell but President Obama was able to raise more money than any other Candidate in History. He was quite popular and we voted for him.

2012---- The president keeps claiming that the Economy is better now than back when he took office, so why is it that he is not getting enough campaign funds and they are in an URGENT mode as MSN reports.

Another promised not kept. I will raise 1 Billion dollars for 2012. Pinky by the side of the mouth.

Boy Bob Jones and Concern Citizen, you're both really grabbing for straws this morning. This knowing the President is going to be reelected and the Democrats are going to take back the house and keep the senate is really getting to you. Relax Four years is not that long, then you can run another worthless candidate like the last two Presidential elections.

@mo68..

what's he going to destroy Romney in the debates with.. massive unemployment.. 40Cents of every dollar spent coming from china.. or perhaps his failure to close Gitmo prison, or end the war in Afghanistan, or pass the public option, or create shovel ready jobs with his 700 billion dollar stimulus.. perhaps his support for Unions in the Scott Walker Re-call.

He can say he bailed out EVERY wall street firm and bank.. i guess he can run on that.

why again are you voting for OBama>? Are you SURE hes a democrat.. doesn't seem like one to me.

Romney's lies will weigh him down like an anchor. All the money in the world won't buy that thief and liar into the White House: the American people are too smart for that. Just ask the people of Governor Romney's home state of Massachusetts: they are solidly behind President Obama. If Etch-A-Sketch can't rally his own state to him, how can he possibly win the country?

President Obama in November. He is clearly the only rational choice!

@sailcat

Obama wont win the state his own convention is in.. he wont win the CITY his own convention is in. Democrats are going to spend 20 million in a city and that city is still voting republican.. that's all you need to know about obama's chances..

Also remember that Jimmy Carter was leading in the polls up to September against Regan. Carter Conceded the election BEFORE CALIFORNIA had voted.. he got owned.. its time for that all over again

If this works it will be the first time I have ever posted a comment.

MO -- What I want to say is that while I always look forward to presidential debates, I am afraid that President Obama will not "destroy" Mitt Romney in the debates. Why not? Because success will be redefined. Remember how the pundits always frame the debates in terms of "expectations"?

Mitt Romney will stick with one liners, slogans, etc., probably most of the time not even trying to answer the questions. He won't be called out on this by the moderators. Then the talking heads will say the next day that "in terms of expectations" Mitt Romney did suprisingly well. No gaffes if you don't answer the questions. I expect to hear Chuck Todd say that in terms of expectations Romney won.

I hope I'm wrong but it seems I've seen this play before.

You live in a pretty dimly lit fantasy land, don't you, Revenge? Obama isn't Carter and Romney definitely isn't Reagan. Ol' Etch-A-Sketch will be dragging his lies all the way to the election in November and the American people will judge him then. The lies include these whoppers:

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/jul/10/robert-gibbs/democrats-say-mitt-romney-failed-disclose-offshore/

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/jul/09/mitt-romney/health-law-puts-government-between-patients-and-do/

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/jul/03/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-says-dow-chemical-chose-saudi-arabia-o/

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/jun/29/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-says-obamacare-means-20-million-americ/

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/jun/28/mitt-romney/mitt-romney-says-obamacare-adds-trillions-deficit/

...and these are just the most recent lies and attempts to hide his past Mitt has attempted. The base hypocrisy of the right wing lunatic fringe is nowhere more evident than when they snivel about President Obama's birth certificate and refuse to hold Romney's feet to the fire about his unreported holdings in Bermuda, his participation in Bain Capital beyond 1999, and his role in moving American jobs to India and China. Honesty, integrity, and moral courage are not principles embraced by Republicans, sadly.

COinFl, your right about the moderators, their paid for by citizens united. But President Obama won't let Romney get away with his one liner talking points. President Obama will look Romney in the eye and ask, what about when you said blah blah blah, I can just see the panic on Romney's face. The president won't let Romney say well I'll get back to you on that, he'll have to answer the President or go to the moderator and say he's being mean to me like he did in the GOP debates when they wouldn't let him get away with out answering. President Obama will keep pushing Romney for an answer, it will be ugly for Romney. Romney's probably trying to figure out how he can get out of the debates.

"right now the President's (numbers) are bad"

Aside from little details like the President being up by 8 in Virginia, according to PPP. And $71 million is a handsome sum, which will go to $100 million shortly. The President will have enough to demolish Mitt. What will Mitt spend his money on? Convincing people that he is likeable, a regular guy? Outlining his plans for healthcare reform, immigration reform, reducing unemployment?

Ever wonder if this is all a Bain Capital ponzi scheme perpetrated by Romney and gang for the sole purpose of moving Republican donor cash into the coffers of the many campaign people, advertisers and marketers and analysts who are all making money by the truck loads during Romney's campaign? I think so. Romney has no soul. That is evident when he speaks. He is not George, his father. So I really think he has initiated this great scheme so he and his buddies will walk away richer for it. Very shrewd indeed.

Even on the economy, the numbers are not "bad." They just are not great.

Inflation is at a 50-year low. Interest rates are low. Personal debt (the cause of the banking crisis in both the US and Europe) is down to more normal levels (and much qucker than has occurred in other countries in similar previous banking crises). The stock market is doing well, corporate profits are doing well. On the other hand, the economy's growth and job growth are sluggish.

Last week, Nate Silver at 538 did an analysis of the relevant economic data and found that the current numbers are slightly worse than the numbers in 1996, but substantially better than the numbers in 1980 and 1992. If the economy improves slightly between now and the election, it is likely that the economy in November will be better than the economy was in 2004. Thus Karl Rove saying the numbers are bad is like the pot calling the kettle black.

Well, I'm not sure why the comment didn't post. Computers. I was trying to tell MO that President Obama won't "destroy" Mitt Romney in the debates because they will be spun as an expectations game. Because nobody really expects Romney to shine in the debates all he has to do is spout some one liners, refuse to answer questions, etc. No gaffes if he doesn't say anything. Then because of what was expected all the talking heads will be saying that since Romney did better than expected, he actually "won".

Sorry. I hope I'm wrong.

The latest poll in Maine shows the President ahead in our state 49% - 35%. Angus King leads in the Senate race with 55% vs 27% for the Republican candidate and Pingree (D) and Michaud (D) are both ahead in their bid to be re-elected to the House.

Of course, our Tea Party governor may be pushing up the Democrats' numbers, as ever time he opens his big mouth,we are reminded how nutty the Republicans have become.
