NAACP crowd boos Romney for vowing to repeal health reform

Mitt Romney found himself on the receiving end of a loud chorus of boos when he promised to repeal health care reform during a speech before the NAACP.

"If our goal is jobs, we have to stop spending over a trillion dollars more than we take in every year. So to do that, I'm going to eliminate every non-essential, expensive program I can find. That includes Obamacare, and I'm going to work to reform and save -- " Romney said, being interrupted by boos.

Romney otherwise encountered polite applause in his speech, which hit on themes of jobs and the economy -- mainstays of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee's overall stump speech -- as well as education reform.

The former Massachusetts governor faced an uphill task politically in speaking before the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), one of the most historic and well-established civil rights groups. President Barack Obama, as the nation's first black president, enjoys tremendous levels of support and enthusiasm from black voters, who helped propel Obama to office in 2008 in key swing states.

Romney joked about the fact that he's unlikely to win over many African American voters. "I appreciate the chance to speak first -- even before Vice President Biden gets his turn tomorrow," he said. "I just hope the Obama campaign won’t think you’re playing favorites."

But the speech, overall, was intended to portray his candidacy as one for all Americans, unified by a theme of improving the economy. Romney pledged to return to speak before the NAACP at its convention next year, should he be elected.

Romney also spoke with reverence toward the legacy of his father, Michigan Gov. George Romney, a Republican who broke with his party at times over the issue of civil rights.

"For every one of us a particular person comes to mind, someone who set a standard of conduct and made us better by their example. For me, that man is my father, George Romney," he said, detailing some of his father's work to advance civil rights.

You have to wonder who the genious was that decided it would be a good idea for Willard to go before the NAACP and blast President Obama...

This was a golden opportunity for Willard to detail WHY he deserves the black vote & what his policies are which will help the community.

By the reaction of the audience, it was squandered once again... *sigh*

I am curious as to whether or not Willard thought the blacks were all the right height?

Very odd--he looked completely flummoxed at the reaction he got. What on earth did he expect? Dear silver spoon Mitt seems to expect that the whole country overwhelmingly agrees with his stance--what a shocker--poor man was at a loss for words. So much for being able to think on his feet! I bet it will be back to the hand-picked audiences that continue to shield him from the truth!

Dumb Fux - the NAACP invited Romney and he probably chose to tell the truth to them. It is refreshing to hear the truth from a candidate even if you don't agree with them. Unlike the liar we have in the White House today.

1. End these senseless/expensive wars.

2. Eliminate the tax loopholes for the rich and stop subsidizing the oil companies.

3. Stop sending foreign aid to counties that hate us.

It's called the America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 or HR 3200. It is disrespectful to call it Obamacare. It is seen as a derogatory name to vilify the leadership of the Obama administration. Take your crowds seriously folks! Romney had a chance to be the distinguished gentleman at this conference and he sneaked in (rather he fell in) another one of those out of touch gaffes (e.g. "loves being able to fire people", "I bet you $10000", "My Wife owns a couple of Cadallacs"). I feel like that was code to the base and I think it was low.

For at least the past 20 years, statistics show that an average of 60% of welfare goes to whites. I can take you to areas of upstate NY where there are multi-generational WHITE families getting assistance not to mention taking deer out of season, and working under the table.

How about all the companies in this country that get negative tax checks? That's right! They pay no tax and get refunds. Look it up!

It says a lot about how low the Republican Party has sunk and just how ignorant they are of what Americans face in their daily lives.

Romney is appearing at events like these to reinforce the attendees' decisions not to vote for him. This sort of thing is going to become more common as his campaign wears on. Etch-A-Sketch will make similar mistakes with women's groups and the issue of reproductive rights and seniors and the importance of cutting back on social security, mark my words. Ultimately, he will be reduced to making closed door pep talks to wealthy cash donors. They are the only people who truly understand him, after all.

The Only reason they booed Obamacare is because its "Obama's" Signature Achievement.

You noticed once he started talking about the costs and how its killing job creation it got Awe full Quiet.

I guess when your community has an 18% unemployment rate maybe having a job and wondering how your going pay rent and put food on the table is a little more important than supporting a Bill that the Majority of Americans don't want, just because its Obama'a signature achievement.

I am Curious. Why Doesn't Obama have the Balls to go and speak to the NAACP? Is he embarrassed and is afraid to face his people?

They did. THAT'S the truth, and Romney doesn't want to talk about it. Instead, he's saying the opposite which, well, kind of makes a liar out of him.

Everybody knows that Romney needed to go to the NAACP, put on an accent, and promise them the world. That's what they were looking for- more promises and more stuff. He eluded to what needs to happen to create jobs and create a responsible goverment while they wanted to hear "you deserve more...." and "you have a right to free....." which he didn't give them.

I think that's why the President isn't going near the NAACP- they might call him out for the black community's severe unemployment and growing dependence on government aid and services. He's moved on to the latino vote and immigration this time. Their time has past.

What a group of misguided boneheads. Blacks are disproportionally the working poor, the group of people who will -- by far -- be most negatively impacted financially by the law. As employers supply insurance to those who they haven't previously covered, they will reduce going wages to make up for the cost of the insurance. The working poor (disproportionally blacks) will end up making significantly less money meaning there will be less money for them to put food in their already bare pantries. They'll be starving, but at least they'll be able to take care of that pesky rash! For companies unable to reduce wages because they pay minimum wage, they will be forced to raise prices. The rich shop at Sachs, the poor (disproportionally blacks) shop at the Dollar Store. Guess which store will be forced to raise their prices. It will be the store where the poor shop (disproportionally blacks), meaning -- again -- that the poor (disproportionally blacks) will have less food in their already bare pantries because of price inflation. Question: If you know consequences are going to happen, can you really call them "unintended"?

Add to that the fact that the leading driver of income mobility for the poor is the creation of small businesses. Those businesses' success -- even mild success -- pull the poor out of poverty. By adding major additional costs to small business creation and growth, far fewer poor will be able to afford to start businesses -- while the rich will still be able to -- again meaning the poor will have their path out of poverty essentially cut off. Again, the working poor (largely blacks) get screwed by the foreseeable consequences of this law. In this case it even makes it easier for the rich to get ahead as their own small businesses will face less competition. It actually exacerbates class caste.

And this is what those at the NAACP convention were booing Romney for saying he would end??? Like I said gullible, misguided, won't-think-for-themselves, happy-to-stay-on-the-Dem-dependency-plantation, boneheads.

Can liberals even spell hypocrisy?

The sad truth is that the policies of President Food Stamps hurt blacks and the working poor most of all. The black unemployment rate is 14.5% . Black youth unemployment exceeds 25%. Both are higher than when Bush left office. Yet taxes, fees, gasoline, food, rents are all higher than when Obama took office.

Tax and Spend has never worked. Just ask our friends in Greece and Spain how that is working out.

The NAACP crowd reaction was pretty predictable. There are some points from the African-American POV that Romney does not seem to "get."

1) The past and current GOP efforts to disenfranchise voters have focused on African-Americans, Latinos, and the elderly. These are population segments that of great concern to the NAACP membership. More and more Latinos are identifying with the NAACP because of GOP efforts to classify them as "non-white." Romney has openly supported these efforts and has stated privately" to prospective donors that getting 4% of African-Americans, Latinos, and elderly off the voter rolls is a key to victory on November.

2) Romney is a Mormon. Much of the NAACP membership is well aware that African-Americans were forbidden to have full membership in the LDS church. There was a "convenient" vision from their god in which African-Americans gained "full parity" with white men just four days before they were to go to court to defend the upcoming loss of their tax-exempt status. Despite the vision, little has changed for the better in imjproving the status of women and African-Americans and other races in the LDS. It remains one of the most racially "pure" sects in the world.

3) While there is considerable religious hatred being expressed in this country against Muslims, Much of the NAACP folks are very church-centered since much of the Civil Rights Movement revolved around the church and its reading of Christ's social agenda. African-Americans are especially aware that Mormons are not Christians in the terms in which Christians have always identified --- the Nicene (Apoltle's) Creed. LDS do not accept the Nicene Creed and actually take exception to most of it. For Christians the Nicene Creed is an all-or-nothing proposition.

4) The NAACP was very involved in Romney's 2008 lawsuit trying to block any reporters or media from asking questions about his undergarments. The NAACP filed briefs opposing Romney as an "amicus curea." Let's see --- Carter wore briefs as did Reagan and Nixon and both Bush's. Obama is a boxer man. Clinton claimed to have wore both according to his mood. Romney's underwear is as secret as his offshore bank accounts and corporate holdings. (The lawsuit failed as a clear example of prior restraint.)

5) Most of the older membership of the NAACP remember as far back as 1956 when the GOP received over 70% of the African-American vote. They are painfully aware of the Republican efforts to drive African-Americans, non-Cuban Latinos, gays, and other minorities from the "Big Tent" so that it could instead welcome older white southern fundamentalist males. Most of the membership had fathers and grandfathers who were staunch Republicans.

Gee whiz, Mittens, thanks for supporting the less fortunate.

Though no one in my Northern European family qualifies for the NAACP, "Obamacare" is the only reason why a couple of us, with pre-existing conditions, are able to pay for any insurance at all. And by pay, I mean pay a lot, because otherwise our good pals at the insurance companies would kick them straight to the curb.

Dumb Fux - the NAACP invited Romney and he probably chose to tell the truth to them. It is refreshing to hear the truth from a candidate even if you don't agree with them.

I was wondering, which Romney "truth" do you agree with:

Romney on blind trusts in 1994: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkikKelEuQM

Mitt Romney questioning Democrat Edward Kennedy over the then-senator's blind trust in a 1994 Senate debate. During the campaign, he called Kennedy's blind trust "a ruse," arguing that it is easy to determine where one's money is going.

or

Romney on blind trust in 2012: "With regard to any foreign investments, I understand, and you understand of course, that my investments have been held by a blind trust, have been managed by a trustee," Romney said. "I don't manage them. I don't even know where they are. That trustee follows all U.S. laws. All the taxes are paid, as appropriate. All of them have been reported to the government. There's nothing hidden there."

which truth is it since you claim Romney is holier-than-thou?

#1.58 - Wed Jul 11, 2012 12:26 PM EDT

I think there's an incorrect assumption here that Romney was actually trying to win over black voters with this appearance. He's not. He knows that demographic is going to vote for Obama because they identify with Obama racially, and there's really nothing that he or Obama can do to change that. Just like we know that Mormons are going to vote overwhelmingly for Romney, and there's nothing he or Obama can do to change that. Romney's doing this so that he can now go back to white Republicans and independents who are uncomfortable being associated with the more overtly racist elements of the party. He wants to say to them, "See, I tried. I'm not racist. You're not racist if you vote for me."

And that's fair. No election should be about the races of the candidates. There are far better reasons to choose Obama over Romney than the color of their skins or the nationalities of their recent ancestors. I can't think of many reasons other than racism or other forms of group identification like religion or political party to choose Romney over Obama, though.

For every month for the last two years the economy has been gaining jobs. Really, we were better off losing 700,000 jobs a month? Are you on crack?

NAACP is in the tank for president Obama so this is not a suprise. America is in trouble if we don't change this "entitlement" mentality. I do find it interesting that liberals would prefer to bankrupt America in their attempts to give entitlements to anybody who would become a potential democratic voter.

Charles Krauthammer stated just yesterday:

"Liberals seek to expand entitlements despite the gift of being able to see what the end result of progressive spending leads to in the example of what is going on in Europe right now."

Kumar -

You still haven't come clean as to whether you are liberal MSNBC posting for Obama or if you are the Obama campaign...no one person can be such as loser waiting for political articles 24 hours a day to post support for Obama.

It took me years to accept, but ... she is what she is.

soundbite -

It's called the America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 or HR 3200. It is disrespectful to call it Obamacare.

Just trying to be accurate soundbite.

What is "Affordable" in the America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 when the CBO has already stated the costs have doubled to almost $2 Trillion .... businesses are dropping coverage and throwing workers into government pools due to the expense ..... business are laying-off employees to make the cost work ...20 new hidden taxes .... premiums going up ....

Now maybe if Obama had named it the America's Unaffordable Health ...

It is seen as a derogatory name to vilify the leadership of the Obama administration.

Using Obama's name to attach to his signature legislation is derogatory?

Only if it is crap and most of America hates it .... what does that tell ya.

One last thing .... the words "leadership" and "Obama" in the same sentence?

You don't see that very often, do you?

t should be a crime to profit off the illness of others. What we need is universal health care for all Americans NOW! How do we pay for it?

1. End these senseless/expensive wars.

You mean war, Iraq is done and over according to Obama, And you think that Afghanistan was senseless...if that is the case, that would make you spineless!

2. Eliminate the tax loopholes for the rich and stop subsidizing the oil companies.

So you think that raising gas prices for everyone is a great idea? On e thing you have to understand is that this is a tax break for the American people, not the oil companies. Corporations don't pay taxes, people pay taxes! I do agree with you on the tax loopholes, 60% of Americans pay no income tax, and this needs to stop!!! Flat tax for everyone!!!

3. Stop sending foreign aid to counties that hate us.

Well, you and Ron Paul must be soul mates.

Problem solved!

Impressive, you solved that problem so easily! Now lets get ready to solve the problem you just created...

For those of you who want to bleat about "entitlements" for people of color, here something for you to chew on:

For at least the past 20 years, statistics show that an average of 60% of welfare goes to whites.

Are you sure you want to go there?

Have you checked out any US Census statistics lately?

You say 60% of welfare goes to whites, but whites makeup over 70% of the total US population.

Sounds to me like whites are taking FAR LESS THAN THEIR FAIR SHARE of the 'WELFARE'!

The 'African American' population in the US makes up only about 12% of the total population. Wanna take a guess at who is taking FAR MORE THAN THEIR FAIR SHARE?

Next time please think before you speak!

I watch Perry Mason frequently and he always goes to the "motive." So let us look at Romney's motives.

First motive, he knew full well the NAACP would react negatively to his anti Obamacare speech.

Second motive, Romney will be on the receiving end, of the blessings, from the far right and of course, the "Tea Party."

Third motive, Romney really has no clue about the needs of the middle class or the benefits of Obamacare.

After all, if he can drive around, with his dog, strapped to the roof of his car and the dog becomes so ill, it defecates all over his car? One would think the dogs owner, would have enough common sense, to hydrate the dog and get it out of the elements. But instead, Mitt rinse of his car and headed north, while 'man's best friend,' still strapped to the roof of the roof of his car.

Mitt is oblivious to the needs of animals, or humans, who are ill or in need of care. He wants to be president, not because he is qualified, he wants to be president, because he feels he is privileged!

In summation, it does not take a jury to bring in a verdict, of guily, for Mitt Romney. Guilty of inability to have compassion for for man, animal or our mother Earth.

The sentence for Mitt Romney should be life, without wealth, power, or Obamacare.

The idiots that call the NAACP a crowd of "free stuff" loving people do not know the history of this great organization that fought and countiniues to fight everyday for equality for those of us that were not born of white colored skin. If there was never a need for such an organization of well educated individuals than i would say, "go to town on those mofo's they don't really stand for anything" but the fact is that they are needing in this country as a counter balance (more so in the past than today, but still a needed entity)

And when talking about people that want free stuff, why are we not hearing from you conservatives how the govt gives free stuff to Halliburton giving them environmental and Labor Law exemptions for fracking related work. Why cant they do it like everyone else and play by the same rules rather that get this free stuff in the form of exemptions. Or Big Oil with their govt subsidies? A proposal was voted on this year to end this welfare and Republicans almost unanimously voted against it. Were you outraged then? I willing to bet you were not! Dont talk about hand outs or wanting free stuff from the govt if you are unwilling to recognize that the biggest recipients of welfare are corporations that make large enough profits that they dont need such lavish breaks.

Want to talk about hypocrisy?

I am Black (and proud of it). Me (nor any one in my family) has EVER collected a welfare check or any other government handout, nor were we criminals and thugs. We went to school, worked very hard, paid our own way and bought our homes. You people are sickening with your stereotypes and clumping all Black people in the same mold because of the actions of a handful of people. Kudos to Romney for speaking in front of a group, known to be hostile to anyone who does not share their skin color/political views. Kudos to Romney for not changing his message to suck up to this group. Better to tell a truth than to suck up with pretty, meaningless talking points. Kudos again to Romney for not lowering himself to the level of those in disagreement with his platform. (Or engaging them either.) All hallmarks of a person who is more Presidential material than the person who was totally unqualified for the position when he was Inaugurated in 2008, and it not doing any better today, almost 4 years later.

Considering that the NAACP represents takers in the country, booing wouldn't surprise me. What, you want to take my sh**?! You want to take what I'm not earning or working for? You want me to take responsibility for myself? You mean, I can't keep being a lazy piece of crap and taking from others who are successful and work hard? Shucks.

None of this matters, because fortunately the givers still outnumber (barely) the takers, and we are tired of losers taking from us. So Romney will win.

Unlike Odumbo who can't put a properly constructed sentence out without a teleprompter or piece of paper in his hand, and when he does, he sounds like he's a community organizer from the ghetto (oh yeah, that's what he is), using such classy, presidential words like "ain't" a lot - lmao - I give a lot of credit to Romney for speaking to an unfriendly and politically a complete opposite crowd. ' "For every one of us a particular person comes to mind, someone who set a standard of conduct and made us better by their example. For me, that man is my father, George Romney," he said, detailing some of his father's work to advance civil rights.'

It seems to me that it was very disrespectful to BOO a speaker, but perhaps civility is not a strong suit at the NAACP. I do admire Romney's courage in going in front of such an obviously hostile group.

As a side note - Those that will be 'taxed' under Obamacare likely include a disproportionate number of Black people since it will be those who cannot afford insurance (the 'working poor') who will now be required to purchase it or pay a tax/fine. The so-called 'credit' will only cover a part of the cost of insurance, and the rest will have to be paid out of pocket by these working poor who are struggling to make ends meet. If they cannot afford that extra out of pocket cost - they will be fined and still not have insurance.

Romney is correct - focusing on getting JOBS, which are especially needed in the Black Community should have been a much higher priority than forcing a new 'tax' on the lower income middle class.

Romney's speech to the NAACP was a purposefully designed and executed ruse of respect, directed to that organization, allowing Him an expression, however feigned, of His goodwill and inclusiveness, relative to the poor and indigent. He needed to do this to soundly solidify the "racist" segments of His party, which today is more than half those who vote republican. Rednecks, uneducated, ill educated, and the countries collection of general fools and ass kissers loved those boo's.

"If our goal is jobs, we have to stop spending over a trillion dollars more than we take in every year."

This very first line alone illustrates how Romney, the GOP, and rightwingers are completely illogical! And as if it isn't bad enough to be ignorant, instead of keeping their ignorance to themselves, they spread their fallacious reasoning like a cancer. There is NO connection, ZERO, not even remotely correlated let alone cause and affect between jobs and deficit spending. NONE, so just stop with this crock of crap -- Enough!

Jobs are created by demand. Demand is created by disposable income. Disposable income is created by good wages. Government debt is not good and can hurt the economy in a more macro, general way. But it does NOT affect hiring. If anything, government can stimulate hiring with infrastructure, keeping teachers and firefighters on the job -- In other words, as the president says, growing the middle class out and bottom up.

If Romney and/or the Teapublican's goal truly was JOBS, they would have passed the Jobs Act and they would INVEST in credible growth initiatives. Romney's 59-point plan is just a lot of fluff. Last night James Carville said that the #1 mistake made by congress--on both sides of the aisle--is that entitlements need to be cut. NO, it is the cost of health care that needs to be reduced, and that in turn would lower the spending on entitlements.

Why aren't real solutions for root causes of problems the focus? In part because congress is too lazy to do the more complex and difficult thing. As for the Teapublicans, they actually want economic crisis so they justify the destruction of all that they hate, which is basically America.

Romney -- He's not in it for you, and deserves to be booed.

Guys, guys, guys (shaking my head in disbelief) Romney knew what he was doing, he was pandering to his base and reinforcing the racism that is rampant in the GOP. "How dare they? Those Negroes booed our candidate! It's an outrage, suh, an outrage." (said with a Foghorn Leghorn southern accent)

That's the same reason the House is voting for the THIRTY-THIRD TIME (yes, I said 33rd time) to repeal Obamacare. They know they don't have the votes. They are pandering to their base, it's an anti-Obama vote.

C'mon folks, time to wake up and smell the coffee.

Guess what segment will be on EVERY news show tonight. The NAACP BOOING Romney. That's guaranteed to make whites in the South more sympathetic and Romney has a problem in the south.

HELLOOOOO? Give the man some credit. He's disingenuous and will say anything to get elected, but he's not STUPID.

It's sad to see how Blacks have been so used --and abused--by the Dems and the Left so they can advance their Socialist ( perhaps even Communist) agenda. The NAACP has shown it's true colors... ( I didn't like to use that word here.. couldn't think of a synonym). Like Jessie Jackson they have become irrelevant to most Americans. Too bad...but they did it to themselves. Romney and the GOP know they might only get 10% of the black vote...at a max. but Mitt still had the balls to "show up". Obama does not- and is sending his surrogate, Joe Biden. They better hope he doesn't insult them ! The Dems know that they will get 90% of the Black vote so why waste any meaningful campaign time on them...and possibly get embarrassed over the high % of black unemployment. When Mitt wins and the GOP also takes over the Senate... that's when Blacks should really be worried.....and they did it to themselves. Mitt's a decent guy..so when he says he wants to get jobs for all Americans...he means it.....but color preferences in hiring...aka Affirmative Action...are dead. We tried that for two generations...if Blacks have not caught up yet.... tough. The best qualified person should get the job... A colorblind society. Isn't that really what Dr.King wanted?

This is one of those blatantly false statements from Faux Noize, Beckerhead, Fatbo, Boortz, Lush and a host of other right-wing-hate mediums that people like you repeat, Goebbels-like..over and over.

The republicans have filibustered President Obama over 100 times the first year he was in Office. The GOP/Tea Bangers have filibustered Obama more in the in the past 4 years, than all of the past 50 yrs combined!!! The GOP is the Party, that for "some" reason, has a personal, not political hatred for the President, which is stronger than their love for America or Americans!

The first 6 years under Bush Republicans controlled all three branches of government.

They did nothing to stop the bubble. The did nothing to improve education. They did nothing to fix the immigration mess. They did nothing to fix the healthcare crisis. They did nothing but run up debt for bridges to nowhere and 2 useless wars. In other words, they left a huge mess to clean up and a huge unpaid bill.

Instead of asking Americans to pay higher taxes to pay for the War On Terror, Bush threw away the balanced budget and choose to borrow money instead. Americans understood why taxes needed to be raised for the war effort, but Bush and the Republicans didn't.

Republicans thought that holding down taxes was more important than paying for the war. Republicans thought that lowering taxes on the wealthy and deregulating the financial industry would spark the economy.....allowing crooked banks to get rich by peddling complex financial schemes that, far from delivering clear benefits to the American people, helped push us into a crisis whose after effects continue to blight the lives of tens of millions of their fellow citizens to this day. ALL thanks to BUSH!

lawdog-1278093 -- Admire, schmire. After Dubya failed to show up there, no Republican will repeat that mistake -- even those who aren't very astute. As for having the audacity to attack ACA, Mac Forrester has it right:

He needed to do this to soundly solidify the "racist" segments of His party.

Romney is a weak, capitulating, "me too, please like me" MISTAKE of a candidate, second only to Sarah Palin in recent history. The day he stands up to Limbaugh, Trump, Norquist, Rove, and the rest of the pack of douchebags is the day he will show real leadership and core.

So go ahead rightwingers with your coping mechanisms and cognitive dissonance, and try to gloss over Romney's numerous and fatal flaws. We see it already with spin about Bain Private Inequity and Vulture Capitalism, we see it already in regard to Romney's refusal to release more than one year's "fluke" of tax returns (to quote his father) and lies about blind trusts, and most of all "Obamneycare" come time for debates. And these are just the tip of the iceberg, but go ahead and hide your collective heads in the sand and hope the cat wasn't there first.

"Thank you Eric Holder for standing strong and furiously fighting voter suppression in the misdts of a contempible Congress" - Beverly in Chicago

What s freakin' joke. The IDs come from the state AT NO COST. The law was passed in May 2011 giving people nearly 18 FULL MONTHS to find the limited time necessary time to meet the requirement. Those too disabled to apply in person ARE GIVEN WAIVERS. Churches and community organizations are COORDINATING RIDES TO AND FROM application locations. SCOTUS has ruled photo voter ID to be both CONSTITUTIONAL AND COMPLIANT WITH THE VRA. Georgia has a similar law and has seen RECORD MINORITY PARTICIPATION EVER SINCE. Where do you see "voter suppression" in that? This is a requirement almost as easy to meet as voter registration, but I suppose you think that "disenfranchises" minorities too. After all minorities have a much lower rate of voter registration than whites so I'm sure that "proves" it to you, right? Like I said, what a freakin' joke.

The only way past Republican presidents have kept anywhere near good employment numbers has been to increase public sector hiring. Now, with this administration they have blocked any appropriations that would go to public sector jobs, thus intentionally keeping the number of unemployed at the current level. Were this country just maintained the level of public sector jobs in place in 2007 the unemployment rate would be about 7.5% today.

"Public sector job growth under G.W. Bush rose 4.2% while he maintained an overall growth rate of 01%. Public sector job loss under B. Obama has been at approximately 2.9% with an overall loss rate of 3.0%. This indicates that the Bush administrations job growth record was solely based on government jobs while at the same time losing private sector jobs.

The same rates of public sector job growth occurred under Presidents Reagan and G.H.W. Bush for 54 months following recessions during their administrations, the same time period shown for the Obama administration.

Were the Obama administration to add a similar number of public sector jobs, the unemployment rate would be around 7.5%." (Source- BLS)

No. It's based on formal logic, "If P than Q," and what is considered fallacious argumentation. Here is a good example: "If you don't support the war, you don't support the troops." This kind of erroneous cause and effect connection is ignorant. There is no connection between jobs and deficit spending anymore then there was between Iraq/Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda/bin Laden. This is propaganda in it's lowest form.

    Here's another example.

At least Mitt Romney went to the NAACP conference to talk when he was invited. All President Obama did was send chocking Joe.

No depth of thought, let alone knowledge of facts. Romney had to go to the NAACP because of the backlash that occurred when Dubya failed to do so. President Obama can send VP Joe Biden because that would be like Dubya sending Cheney to the NRA, get it?

There are 3 HUGE reasons to vote against O'Bama-much more important than the color of ANYONE'S skin: #1 No improvement in housing market collapse in 4 years #2 No significant improvement in the unemployment rate in 4 years #3 NO significant improvement in the US economy. Make that 4: NO IMPROVEMENT IN OUR ECONOMY. He promised all 4-delivered NONE-time for change. Can we survive 4 more years of the same or worse? Is there ANY excuse for these results? Will it matter if our president is blue, pink, black or polka-dot if we continue this way? NO. Use your heads. Instead of displaying our various racist viewpoints and combative attitudes because someone who posted doesn't support the sports te...eeeerrrrrr Political Party that we do so they must be an idiot and just look at the FACTS of what Mitt Said.

He says, as a Businessman, that we can't spend more money than we make. He makes the claim that Businesses never do this and families never do this, etc.

No, the facts show that CONSTANTLY, Businesses, Families and Individuals will spend more than they make/have and still get out of their debt. Its called 'Investing'. Google didn't start as a multi-billion dollar enterprise. Google instead was spending significantly more than it was making because it was investing for its future.

Anyone who has every realised that the sum total of their tuition bill each year was more money than they were making at their minimum wage/part time or even full time college job was also investing in their future.

Mitt knows this. You know this. I know this. It should be common knowledge that money just doesn't spontaneously appear and give itself to the most deserving people. You have to invest in some way. Your investment might be short term. I will invest my physical labour at doing this menial physical task and when I am done, the person who I did the task for will give me some sort of compensation. Your investment may be long term. I might take several years to close to a decade of student loans to pay for the undergraduate/pre-med schooling followed by post graduate medical schooling followed by poorly compensated residency etc all so that _in the future— my investment pays off.

The length of time and the security of the debts taken vary based on the type of 'individual' who is being looked at. A single person may only be able to obtain a small debt, a family a larger debt, a business an even larger debt and a nation a huge debt. It is a debt, you take in less than you spend, but if you are spending the money for the future as an investment, you are doing the right thing.

MITT knows this. Mitt understands loading up with debt to make money because this is EXACTLY how Bain worked. It buys a distressed company whose market value is lower than what they believe it should be. They then restructure, they take debt, they sell assets and then they rake in the money. They had to go into DEBT though in most cases to buy the company. They had to 'borrow' money from others to produce enough capital to make the deal.

So why does he and other republicans continue to harp on debt as if it is completely evil when it is a standard operating practice for most every business or individual?

Because it is a big scary number and the average person doesn't quite understand it all and it makes for good campaign copy but it is completely misleading.

For example: After WWII our nations debt, as a percentage of our income was FAR worse than it is today. They spent even more money! Why? Because they built roads, and infrastructure and modernised and educated their populace and within 17 years the debt was nearly completely gone AND the nation was in MUCH better shape to compete and win economically in the world.

We spent more than we had, and spent it wisely on investments that would pay off for our future.

Just like you did when you took a college loan.

Just like the small business owner who puts a mortgage on his families home to pay for the business to start. Just like the larger business that goes public and borrows lots of money by raising capital and promising partial ownership to shareholders in return for the 'debt' because they know it will grow them larger and reward them more. Just like an intelligent nation does when it knows its people do not have work and will not buy anything until they have money.

It is simple economics. Growth has stopped because people aren't spending. People aren't spending because they have no money. So, Do we stop spending? When we stop spending, more people lose their jobs and when they lose their jobs do they go spend? So if we make huge cuts are we going to BENEFIT the economy? Putting workers out of work means they are no longer spenders and if they aren't buying who are the companies going to sell to in order to make money?

So, invest in our people. Invest in our infrastructure. Invest in our science and technology and strive to be the best of the best in the world and as we do so, YES we incur a debt but this debt is one that we will pay off because the economic rewards of doing so is proven.

When you grow your middle class and put them in work and provide them tools with which to compete with you become a nation that is the envy of the world. When you close up your shop and shutter your windows and hide in your house hugging your money bag, you lose.

We have been through this before. We 'spent' our way out of it. We incurred a short term debt for long term prosperity. Don't let the word 'Trillions' be scary because you just can't conceive of how much money that is. Our economy is still significantly larger than or debt and will remain so as long as we invest in our people and our future. The moment we stop is when we concentrate what money is left amongst the very few (Koch, Romney, Soros, etc) and the nation falls into obscurity.

Get a life and learn to accept rejection of your ideas because after November you will have to accept what the majority of Americans want and it is not the progressive/liberal agenda. Good luck dealing with reality.

THe majority of Americans want a living wage. Where is Romney? He wants empoeyers to pay less based on a 'globa' market scale. He wants to INSOURCE FOREIGN WORKErs TO WORK FOR 1/2 THE MARKET RATE TO lower the market wage scale.

Most people want teir children to go to cvollege and have loan programs to enable it. Where is Romney? HE WANTS TO GET RID of the COLLEGE LOAN PROGRAM

THe majority of pople want outsourcing to stop or de-incentivise it. Where is Romney? HE IS A PIONEER OF OUTSOURCING. He will expedite and support it.

The majority of Americans want affordable healthcare. Where is Romenys plan to solve it? HE HAS NO PLAN!

THe majortiy of Americans want a jobs bill. Where is the Romney policy proposals? HE HAS NO SOLUTIONS

The majority of Americans want infratsructure repair/replavcement. Where is Romney's proposals? HE HAS NO PROPOSALS

Romney is bankrupt of ideaqs, solutions and policy. ROMNEY HAS NO SOLUTIONS for anythng. CAnt wait for the debates when Romney actually has to say what he would do and have it scored by CBO.

    Romney is toast

We are in dire economic straits and our very eloquent, well meaning president has failed to turn it around to any meaningful degree.

So MAry, how about you tell us Romney's plan to fix these problems. You know, MAry, that sitting and throwing rocks from the bench isnt enough this election. You need SOLUTIONS. Where are they? Do you know them? Then tell us. No one else can so far (chuckle)

The vagueness of his 59 points of light (or whatever he calls it) isnt enough. WHERE ARE ROMNEY"S SOLUTIONS? POLICIES? 116 days to go and no one has any idea (including Mitt ) of how he will fix our problems. FAIL

No solutions No vote. Romney is toast

The only way past Republican presidents have kept anywhere near good employment numbers has been to increase public sector hiring.

Holy crap, don't bring up FACTS, the rightwingers can't handle the truth. Dubya increased the public sector more than any other administration in modern history. Heck, don't talk about Reagan cutting taxes either, and then raising taxes eleven times over the course of his presidency --This makes rightwinger's heads explode.

socialcapitalist -- First of all most of the American people, blacks included, realize that the current unemployment rate is due to; 1) the Bush Recession; and 2) Teapublican obstruction preventing faster economic recovery. Second, blacks and other minorities--including women though they are half the population--know, in the words of GOP strategist Ed Rollins, the Republican Party can still be summed up as "a bunch of old white guys."

If the Jobs Act had been passed there would be 1.9 million more jobs. If the Teapublicans in Red states throughout the nation had not cut so many public sector jobs (teacher, firefighters, etc.), combined with the Jobs Act, the unemployment rate would be below 7% right now.

ItsAboutTime-3704531 -- Ain't that the truth about "Obamneycare." The Teapubicans in the House just wasted taxpayer dollars--again-- to throw a temper tantrum vote for the 31st time against ACA. And due to their obstinate stupidity, it provided Democrats ample opportunity to remind congress, the media (excluding FAUX Noise rightwing propaganda outlets), and the American people about their disastrous candidate and Romneycare.

In January 2007, the year the recession began, the unemployment rate for black workers was 7.9 percent, compared to 4.2 percent for Whites DOL Report

For all those who think the NAACP is going to turn on Obama because their unemployment numbers are twice the average. They were twice the rate of whites under GWB. It sucks out there for everybody.

2-Lane Gypsy -- So true. Romney's 59-point plan boils down to two points: the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. We never see rightwingers in here talking about the details of what Romney would do to improve the economy. To make it simple for them, it is the GOP/Bush-era policies on steroids.

It truly amazes me how many flippin' idiots are on this board....those of you who keep with the whole "you know, there are more white people on food stamps/welfare/etc. than there are black people..." Yes, we all know that, dumb$hit. Do any of you understand statistics or at least basic math? Blacks make up 13% of the population but represent about 40-45% of welfare/food stamp recipients. This means that there are more black people on these programs AS A PERCENTAGE OF THEIR WHOLE POPULATION than there are white people! Also, those of you who keep saying crap like "Why did Romney even go there? He can't win their votes..." Well, at least he had the guts to go there. When's the last time Obama visited and spoke at an obviously hostile crowd? He rarely gives interviews to anyone except those who blatantly favor him, ie. NBC/CBS/ABC. Obama will not face a hostile crowd - he's a gutless wimp! And lastly, that RedHeaded skank from Illinios stated said something about Romney trying to explain why he deserves the black vote...well, isn't that REALLY the problem? Rather than having a politician promise the world to blacks, to Hispanics, to the poor, to the unions, blah, blah, blah...wouldn't it be nice to hear a politician say this is what I'm going to do for EVERYONE? I'm not going to focus on trying to improve the lives of black people, I'm going to focus on trying to improve the lives of ALL AMERICANS! I'm not going to create economic policies that only benefit public sector employees or union employees, I'm going to create economic policies that benefit ALL WORKERS, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, men, women, middle-class, wealthy, etc. Dems keep saying that Conservatives are against women, against Hispanics, against blacks, against the poor, against the middle-class, and only for the white rich guy! I say bull$hit to everyone of you jerks who say that. Dems are the ones who continue to emphasize the differences in Americans...Dems want special policies for blacks, special policies for Hispanics, special policies for women, special policies for gay/lesbians, etc. Whenever a Conservative tries to treat his fellow man/woman as an equal and try to hold people to the same standards, they are accused of being racist, ie. voter ID laws. Dems are the ones who treat the black community as a community incapable of taking care of themselves, as a community incapable of success without special consideration. MLK said he dreams of day when everyone would be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character...conservatives are trying to realize that dream. I'm wondering when the Dems will do the same!

Newsflash, people, there is racism in the NAACP. If a white man doesn't think the same way as a black man, he's a racist. If a black man votes Republican, he's a traitor. Why should you be called a traitor to your race for the way you vote?

Onto this: Mr. Romney should at least have been heard out. And if Obamacare, as one side calls it, is so good, why shouldn't President Obama take that name in defiance and make it his own, or tell members of his party to do it?

As a Republican, I want aspects of it repealed, but I definitely don't want the whole thing repealed. Particularly important to me is the idea of pre-existing conditions as a reason for rejection being removed. My mother has Type I diabetes and has since she was nine. Should she not be able to get affordable healthcare because of an issue she's had all her life?

The response of the NAACP crowd shows me exactly how out of touch and racist these people are. Do they not understand that unemployment among African Americans is more than 10% higher than that for whites? They should be marching on the WH and DEMANDING that Obama tell them where are the jobs he promised. Do these people also not understand that the uncertainty over taxes keeps businesses from hiring, thus keeping them unemployed at higher rates? Obamacare is one more tax uncertainty that Obama has added to the mix. Do these people also not understand that Obama has sold out to Wall Street and is among the 1% these people rail against? Obama is lying to you and you are too stupid to see it. It seems to me that the NAACP crowd simply wants a black dude in the WH. Obama has you fooled there too. He is only half black. It's time for Ben Jealous and the other morons running the NAACP to wake up and see the truth!

Ther sad truth that many African- Americans are coming to realize is that President Obama does not care about the poor of any class but expecially African- Americans. Ask any of the Obama First Dayers (those who supported Obama when he was running for Senate) and they will tell you that Obama turned his back on everyone who can not stroke his ego and once you are no more use, you are thrown out with the trash. The vast majority of my co-workers are African American. During the previous election, I conducted a very unscientific but revealing survey. I asked my co-workers who they were voting for. Almost all said Obama. Of those I asked what policies of his did they find the most compelling. Not one had any clue what the man stood for. To help them, I described policies and asked them if they agreed with them or not. They always did. What they did not know was that I had described to them policies of th McCain campaign. When told this, They responded that they didn't care, they were still voting for Obama.

Now, before you get all crazy, I actually voted for Obama too. I thought at the time he was the preferable choice. I am on the fence right now, as I do not believe he has acted as he said he would and has shown himself to be just another polarizing politician.

As to my point in the first paragraph, there is likely a large constituency in this country that is going to vote for Mr. Obama against just about any white man, particularly a very wealthy one. Albeit, there well be many who will vote against any black man, I believe them to be greatly outnumbered by the former. And to go before the NAACP and speak ill of their messiah was probably not the best PR move to say the least. Things like this make me wonder about his savvy. It also keeps me on the fence, because as unenamoured as I have become with Mr. Obama, I have seen little to impress me on the other side of the aisle. It looks like another year of voting for whichever candidate is the least impalitable.

If they cannot afford that extra out of pocket cost - they will be fined and still not have insurance."

You obviously have no clue what you're talking about. The working poor are not required under the ACA to purchase health care insurance. Medicaid is being expanded to cover poor people. People who are required (mandated) to purchase insurance are those that can afford it. If they do not qualify as poor, yet need assistance, they will be offered a credit. Let me repeat: the credit is not for the poor, it is for those who otherwise can afford health insurance but need assistance. The poor will be covered by Medicaid. Try learning about the law before attacking it and spreading misinformation.

To stay away from the racist and ignorant arguements and to point to a reality ... Romney destroyed both heatlhcare (for those earning under 300thousand a year) and jobgrowth in Mass during his term at the helm. He slashed productivity in low income communities forced prolific companies to move to locations where those high income earner's could use them as tax shields and as well (among dozens of brutal outrages against middle and low income) used his out-of-state or country companies to buy up hold out companies only to then disolve them (along with the countless thousands of jobs attached to them) when they bucked his system. He may say he is looking to make health care more affordable to low income people and less grants and breaks to the rich regarding healthcare options however, his record shows just the opposite. Due to his so called reforms in Mass. the medicare system was slashed by nearly fifty percent, that is his idea of making it more affordable, or in other words, if it costs too much the poor must not need that kind of health care.

If they cannot afford that extra out of pocket cost - they will be fined and still not have insurance."................You obviously have no clue what you're talking about. The working poor are not required under the ACA to purchase health care insurance."

      Then perhaps you can explain the following tax/penalties built into Obamacare;

Penalties of approximately the following at the following income levels:

      • Less than $9,500 income = $0
      • $9,500 - $37,000 income = $695 per person in the family.
      • $50,000 income = $1,000
      • $75,000 income = $1,600
      • $100,000 income = $2,250
      • $125,000 income = $2,900
      • $150,000 income = $3,500
      • $175,000 income = $4,100
      • $200,000 income = $4,700
      • Over $200,000 = The cost of a "bronze" health-insurance plan

I tend to think that a family making a little over $9,500 per year is indeed the 'working poor'. If they are 'exempt', why the penalty for not buying insurance?

knee jerk....., maybe picking on Romney's service record is not a good strategy since it's much like Obama's. Romney received deferments, which are a legal means of avoiding service. What is Obama's excuse? He certainly could have served but he didn't. Operation Desert Storm would have been a great opportunity for him to do so. Even after we were attacked on 9-11, Obama could have served. Guess the bottom line is Obama is no better or worse than Romney on that count, just you don't see that. Could you be hyper partisan by chance? Come on, make an argument for your position on Mitt's military service VS that of Obama.

I think it was great that he went into a hostile crowd and articulated the truth about who he is. One cool cumber. He was not rattled in the slightest.

"...the truth about who he is." It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE for Willard to do this. RoMONEY doesn't even know HIMSELF who he really is. He has absolutely NO CORE, NO CONVICTION. Willard has taken just about every position a person could possibly take on almost every issue. ("It's not a tax, it's a penalty. No, actually it's a tax.") While RoMONEY is clearly the King of Flip-Flop, sometimes, though, what people think is a flip-flop really isn't one at all. The truth of the matter is, sometimes Willard has to "clarify his statements" simply because he speaks without first finding out from Limbaugh, Hannity, Rove, Grover NERDquist, et al. what he is supposed to believe and/or say about a particular issue. ("I don't recall exactly what I said, but I stand by what I said, whatever it was.") Mr. Etch-a-Sketch is "The Great Panderer" and, as such, he will say or do ANYTHING to get elected ("I love cars. I love American cars." "I love the lakes. I love the Great Lakes and the small ones too." "I love the trees here in Michigan, they are just the right height." "I ate some delicious cheesy grits this morning," "I like being able to fire people...")

"One cool cumber [sic]." I think the word you were looking for was actually "cucumber". No worries, though. Your candidate, Mr. Excitement himself, sometimes struggles with trying to identify rather mundane items in an effort to relate to us "common folk". Remember that great moment at a round table discussion when RoMONEY struggled to identify the "chocolate goodies" (AKA chocolate-covered doughnuts) he was so enthralled with?

"He was not rattled in the slightest." Of course he wasn't "rattled" -- that is a HUMAN emotion, something a member of Willard's species is incapable of experiencing. I am not entirely sure whether RoMONEY is a RObot, an alien life form, or just plain WEIRD. This guy is painful to watch. He is so stiff and clearly uncomfortable in his own skin. And what person from THIS planet talks like he does? ("Chocolate goodies," "I thought the tall man played sport, but it turns out he doesn't play sport," Corporations are people, my friend," "I read the article while on the aircraft", etc.) I've got it!!! Willard dodged the draft for the Vietnam War by serving as a Mormon missionary in France, so OBVIOUSLY he must be a Conehead -- "We come from France."

I am SO THANKFUL that I am not a republiCON...there is NO WAY I could even PRETEND to be excited about Weird Willard!

HELLOOOOO? Give the man some credit. He's disingenuous and will say anything to get elected, but he's not STUPID.

Good comment, Skip...but next to President Obama, the Mittster looks like a knuckle-dragging Neanderthal.

Bring on the debates! Romney won't have a leg to stand on when he has to go mano-a-mano with Mr. Obama.

      Here is some more information;

The CBO estimates that these policies will cost $4,500-$5,000 per person and $12,000-$12,500 per family in 2016, with the costs rising thereafter.

Even with a partial credit from the government towards the cost of health insurance, how is a family making perhaps $15,000 per year going to afford health insurance? Obviously, they won't - which means that not only will they have to go without insurance, but they will have to pay a big tax/penalty as well - over $2,000 per year for a family of 3.

This is a big tax increase primarily on the working poor, and the irony is that this group is the same one that voted overwhelmingly for Obama in 2008. I guess you might call that 'retribution'.

olebud03 "RoMONEY doesn't even know HIMSELF who he really is."

      Here's a clue;

      Romney's Character.

Sometimes, this facet of Romney’s personality isn’t so subtle. In July 1996, the 14-year-old daughter of Robert Gay, a partner at Bain Capital, had disappeared. She had attended a rave party in New York City and gotten high on ecstasy. Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was. Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search. He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in New York, and asked them to help find his friend’s missing daughter. Romney’s accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper. Romney and the other Bain employees scoured every part of New York and talked with everyone they could – prostitutes, drug addicts – anyone.

That day, their hunt made the evening news, which featured photos of the girl and the Bain employees searching for her. As a result, a teenage boy phoned in, asked if there was a reward, and then hung up abruptly. The NYPD traced the call to a home in New Jersey, where they found the girl in the basement, shivering and experiencing withdrawal symptoms from a massive ecstasy dose. Doctors later said the girl might not have survived another day. Romney’s former partner credits Mitt Romney with saving his daughter’s life, saying, “It was the most amazing thing, and I’ll never forget this to the day I die.”

So, here’s my epiphany: Mitt Romney simply can’t help himself. He sees a problem, and his mind immediately sets to work solving it, sometimes consciously, and sometimes not-so-consciously. He doesn’t do it for self-aggrandizement, or for personal gain. He does it because that’s just how he’s wired.

Many people are unaware of the fact that when Romney was asked by his old employer, Bill Bain, to come back to Bain & Company as CEO to rescue the firm from bankruptcy, Romney left Bain Capital to work at Bain & Company for an annual salary of one dollar. When Romney went to the rescue of the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics, he accepted no salary for three years, and wouldn’t use an expense account. He also accepted no salary as Governor of Massachusetts.

Character counts!! (and yes...that's worth reading again!)

@Roy Wilson #1.186: um. ah, Roy, The chart you refer to isn't a penalty A.C.A. schematic. It is an A. C. A. Premium schematic, reflecting yearly premium caps for families of 4 based on incomes ranging from 133% above the federally designated poverty income levels, up to, and including incomes of 400% above that designated poverty level. Additionally, the calculation assumes current and past data as a relative sum that could be expected from future data. Generally, it is a rough, but probable guess.

So if a group of white people booed Obama when he talked about Romney, they would be called racists! When a group of black people boo Romney what's it called? We all know it should be called racism, but we also know that there is no such thing as a black racist. It's all very confusing!

        #1.197 - Wed Jul 11, 2012 7:42 PM EDT

Another addendum: This program will not allow me to edit and it jumps all over the place. I hope it allows me to say what I wish to say this time. The percentages I posted in post number 1.195 were meant to be, and should have been as follows. 100 % poverty level for a family of 4 is an income of some $23,500.00. The schematic "Roy Wilson" refers to, reflects A.C.A. basic yearly premium costs for a family of 4. The whole schematic is based on a family of 4. The percentages begin at poverty level baseline, or a designated 100% of calculated income. The schematic then reflects the increase up to 133%, or an income of 23,500.00 plus 33% above the poverty level, up to an income of 4 times the income poverty level. This is, in fact, the purpose of the schematic "Roy" posted. I may not be up to date on the designated poverty level amount. The $23,500.00 I cite is, I think, the designated level for the year 2011. Might be more now, or less. Goddamn, I hope this doesn't fly away when I post it. Regards

Maybe he went to do the speech there just to highlight the fact that the NAACP is as racist as the KKK ever was.

As for how many people collect Welfare - I don't care about the African-Americans that are significantly over represented - we can afford that. it's the imitation whites we can't afford.

          #1.199 - Wed Jul 11, 2012 7:54 PM EDT

As a Republican, I want aspects of it repealed, but I definitely don't want the whole thing repealed. Particularly important to me is the idea of pre-existing conditions as a reason for rejection being removed. My mother has Type I diabetes and has since she was nine. Should she not be able to get affordable healthcare because of an issue she's had all her life?

Note that Romney does plan to provide for those with "pre-existing conditions", just as "Obamacare" does. The problem is, if insurers are required to cover pre-existing conditions, then people wouldn't bother buying insurance until they had a "pre-existing condition", the insurers would be stuck with sick people only, and would quickly go out of business. That's the reason for the "insurance mandate" to require everyone to get health insurance, through their employer or on their own or through Medicaid if they're poor.

Logically, that means that Romney will push for the exact same thing in his plan - not surprising, since that was his plan as Governor of Massachusetts. But that's also the defining features of "Obamacare".

So there we have it - Romney wants to repeal "Obamacare" and replace it with his own "Romneycare" that is for all practical purposes the same thing but with a different name attached. Romney wants to steal the credit for his own self-aggrandizement.

Realist-1226632 -- President Obama has been booed, heckled, etc. from folks of all races (including Occupy) and no one cares. What I've always noticed is how the president handles it, with maturity, professionalism, fairness -- (the opposite of Chris Christie), and certainly not in an uncomfortable deer in the headlights way -- And definitely not "boo-baiting" by using derogatory terms like "Obamacare" to elicit sympathy from the Haters in your base. Pathetic, desperate...that's how Romney looks.

However, the penalty can never be more than the cost of a "Bronze" heath insurance plan purchased through one of the state "exchanges" that will be created as part of Obamacare. The CBO estimates that these policies will cost $4,500-$5,000 per person and $12,000-$12,500 per family in 2016, with the costs rising thereafter.

            Co-Insurance 50%

            Out of pocket $7,500

It is truly amazing that the first words out of the dem's/lib's mouth when anyone disagrees with the first mixed race president is, you guessed it - RACIST. I know that there will be a lot of people that say I am racist for saying mixed race. However, why is it that when a person is born of an inter-racial couple they say they are black? Who is being racist?

As for the first comment by Fisty - typical that all she can do is call someone names. Also typical from a resident of the most corrupt state in the union.

The majority of the US public know this AHC bill to be just what it is - an attempt at control and SEVERAL new TAXES. The majority of the US public also agree with most of the provisions but disagree with the bill itself. It has been ruled a tax by the Supreme Court and denied being a tax by the Pres. and his camp. The same pres. that said "No new taxes." and "This will be the most transparent administration in history." Typical politician. How can you tell they are lying? Their mouth is open and their lips are moving.

This group booing Mitt Romney is the herd mentality of: Please give us handouts crowd. They would

                boo anyone against Government handouts,

Solution: Work and pay for your own health care, or work for a company that has one. People could

do lot by being accountable for health, practicing good health habits, like daily strenuous exercise,

eating right etc. Prevention is the key to better health. Most Americans don't walk or eat right.

Science and medicine can only do so much if you neglect good health.

I have to laugh reading all the liberals that feel Romney should have gone to the NAACP convention and pandered to the crowd. Which is exactly what Obama does at every speech, and why hypocrisy and liberalism are indistinguishable. Romney stood on his convictions, and he was treated with disrespect that would have had liberals screaming racism if it had happened to Obama. But Romney took the criticism with style and made his case in response. One of Romney's better moments, as this country has had 3.5 years of non-stop pandering from Obama and nothing to show for it.

                    This is actually a very calculated move by the Romney camp. It is designed to do 2 things;

                    1. It creates a Republican Hero: Mitt going into the belly of the BEAST.

                    2. It demonizes and discredits NAACP. It forces the NAACP to defend the action of the participants instead of the action of NAACP. The participants are not united in their movements nor their thinking, hence it easily allows a few bad ones to be the headlines of NAACP for the next few months. In doing so, the Repbublicans are able to put NAACP into a more defensive mode versus a more offensive mode where the organization can campaign more on issues of equality for all.

Don't know if it worked or not... It will be up to the Media spins and how the Campaign respond to the spin.

                    @NVArt, what is your point? there are plenty of white people who can't stand Romney as well? If you believe Mitt Romney is the right person to lead your ship then more power to you. However, as for the rest of the intellegent people in America, I will point out something that you obviously missed;

                    1. The Republicans has led to limit the Obama's term to 4 years from the start his win.

                    2. The Repbulicans has 2 cards that they played through out the past 4 years - ECONOMY & HEALTHCARE REFORM. The Republicans have use every form of obstructions possible to hold back economy and reforms.

                    3. Now 3 years later, they put before the American people their nomination a candidate who clearly violate every rule that they have claim against and obstructed against....

                    4. Mitt used and launched the same Universal Healthcare program when he was a governor. Mitt has yet to put forth a plan (all he has done was criticize). In addition, no one care if he is a rich person or not. However people do care about HOW he made his money, because his method of making money does not or will not create more long term jobs and advantage for America... So after 3 years, this is the best that Republcan can bring forth???? A candidate that agrees with the Universal Healthcare and who help put us into the economic position America is in ??? Your other candidate is Donald Trump who is now in Spain with the other buyers trying to scoop Spanish land??? And it is the same Republicans who are trying to tell us that China is buying up our land???

                    Please stop with the hypocracy!!!

Hey Detroit- Are you looking at your own backyard at all?? Here's some insight into Detroit(from your own Detroit Free Press newspaper):

"Detroit's human services department will be eliminated, the transportation and lighting departments will be privatized, and 2,600 jobs will be cut -- including EMS and firefighters -- under a $1.12-billion budget sent Thursday to Mayor Dave Bing by the City Council. "We did the fiscally responsible thing to do, but it's tough," Councilwoman Saunteel Jenkins said after the meeting. "It means a lot of people are going to lose their jobs. It means a lot of city services are going to be cut back. "We have to make these tough decisions now to get to a better place in the future." The budget reduces the city's general fund by $246 million -- a $171-million spending reduction and $75 million to go toward paying down an accumulated deficit."

So you are saying that Mitt Romney is irresponsible for talking about cuts to curb spending and the deficit, while in your own community they are doing the same? I'm guessing that you don't agree with Detroit's methods either. What would you do to save your city, let alone country?? I can't wait to hear your methods to save them.....

You should also think about Detroit and it's industry. The ONLY reason Detroid still has the automotive industry is due to the federal government protecting it's union friends and giving up everyone else's taxdollars to prop up your economy. This is while other auto manufacturers are happily building/staffing new manufacturing plants all over the country for less then your entrenched system can do. Just imagine your situation if the government had let the situation play out for itself. The rest of the country got screwed so that your community could continue to do as you will. Well, the rest of the country isn't really interested in propping anyone up anymore. No one is too big to fail and we don't want our money going just anywhere anymore.

You people amaze me. The level of ignorance is beyond belief. You would vote for Obama if he proclaimed himself the anti-Christ. You act like Obama hasn't had the silver spoon in his mouth throughout most of his life. He attended high priced colleges, he has taken more vacations than any other president in history and on the taxpayers dime but you still think that all he cares about is you. Obamacare is nothing more than a way to add more people to the medicaid program at the expense of people who pay for their insurance now. It will not LOWER anyone's rates that already have insurance unless you meet the new poverty level afterwards.

Mr Knee Jerk, Obamacare doesn't make people take responsibility for their own health care, it makes those who are working take responsibility for those who won't. Why don't you left wingers ever question the reasons for high medical costs, the real problem?

I looked over several of the responses, pro and con. Everyone has their opinions. Your's are based on a strange world view typical to many. If the "GOP" wants everyone to have a handgun or AK-47, the expectation is that we buy our own, not that we buy firearms, or health care, for everyone sucking up to government for their "living." If you feel good about taxation to care for the "less fortunate," believing in the end, at the scales of good and bad, your good heart will tip the scales in your favor before God, your theft through taxation will negate it all, and more so. God says neither liars nor thieves will see His Kingdom. Of course, it isn't about good and bad, there are no such scales, but you wouldn't know that, would you?

Here's an idea, how about you go back to school and get an education that will allow you at least a basic understanding of the fundamentals of economics.

But that would mean ignoring the right wing, Christian-lunatic bloviating echo chamber from which you get your talking points from, and post easy bromides about the motives and decisions of the poor, the uninsured and the unemployed.

                    BTW:

The GOP/Christian Taliban needs to stop using the "welfare mothers" and "freeloading students" boogie men to frighten the American public into voting for "coddle the 1%".

Jerk, it is not mere "frightening." The country is hemmoraging its treasure by giving entitlements to people who are gaming the system. They know they can claim a bogus disability, not bother to better themselves through education and just collect a government check.

What kind of country are you hoping to live in once all the money is gone? It will run out, at some point we will not be able to borrow funds to pay for all this entitlement spending. I know, 66% of liberals think America is heading in the "right direction" according to an ABC poll. yep, just hope to bankrupt us all while belittleing those who are waving the warning flags.

                    Charles Krauthammer stated just yesterday:

"Liberals seek to expand entitlements despite the gift of being able to see what the end result of progressive spending leads to in the example of what is going on in Europe right now."

                    JoeNY,

so you would want to live in a city without functioning services, that have been gutted to the point that they are practically nonexistant? No amount of tax breaks for "job creators" will get them to invest in such a place, because they don't live there. What you end up with is a ruling class that favors the people at their own whim, regular people do whatever they can to get by.

The problem with the city is that they are not using their resources wisely. One unexpected resource is the vacant land. Why is it not being sold? The only reason a government should own land is for the greater good (i.e parks, nature preserves, etc). Another problem is that there are no teeth to tax collectors in this city. Properties go for years with uncollected taxes due, both private and corporate owned. Taxes must be paid or the system collapses.

There used to be a law on the books that said city workers had to live in the city. Not only does this improve neighborhoods to have police and firefighters living in them, they would tend to shop in their neighborhoods and further stimulate the local economy. That law was struck down by the state Supreme Court, and they left the city. The downward spiral has accelerated since. With the tax base diminished there are less services and more people leave, which means less taxes for services. It is a self-fulfilling destiny.

My solution? First and foremost would be incentives for veterans to move into neighborhoods. These are people that you want living around you. Maybe give a vacant lot or abandoned home to anyone with a DD214, as long as they own it for at least one year and improve it in some way. After which, taxes are collected as usual. The same could be done with industrial properties, provided that they hire a precentage of veterans. Secondly, infrastructure improvements so the people can get to their jobs. There are no subways here, and the bus system sucks. The light rail system for the city that was envisioned in the '70's would be a good start. And lastly, make serious commitments to public education. No one wants to raise kids where the school system is terrible.

All of these things take political will, and personal responsibility. They also require oversight which will be enforced, because there will always be people trying to game the system.

So yes, I do have ideas beyond trying to win through austerity. Any businessman worth his salt will tell you that you cannot cut your way to prosperity.

We have a system that is built to make it easier for us to "give up". One of the reasons Food Stamp use is os high is because the income cut-off was raised. The reason Employers may off-load employer plans is the penalty at first is less than the increased costs they are about to experience.

Even Social Security Disability insurance is easier to get on, about impossible to get kicked off of, and is a higher benefit than standard social security.

Do you expect others to pay for your healthcare ? Do you want to pay for others healhcare? Do you feel its my responsibility to take care of others who refuse to purchase healthcare. Now that Im close to having to pay for only my healthcare instead of all of my childrens since only one is left in college. Im excited about the pay raise, but now my goverment expects me to subsidize others healthcare. One question that I have is why do the tax rates for obamacare charge so much if everyone will be paying for healthcare. The only ones that will make out like bandits are the healthcare corporations and the federal goverment.

Waste of his time. Large groups of people still think this is going to be free healthcare. Not only that, Obama received 95% of the black vote last time. I can't even begin to image the headlines if a white candidate running against a black candidate received 95% of the white vote in today's time period.

It may seem dumb for Romney to bash "Obamacare" in front of the NAACP... dumb like a fox. He had to anticipate the booing, and knew it would make it to the news. What better way to endear him to his base, to be seen being booed by "those black people".

This may sound overly cynical, but I don't think anything is too low for this political whore.

We are no longer the "Land of the Free"...We've become the "Land of the Left". We might as well abolish all parties other than the Democrats because their actions during the last few years have clearly illustrated they are more focused on like-minded Americans than ALL Americans. Of course, if you are one of those like-minded Americans, you will be quick to jump in and express your disagreement in an intelligent manner by presuming any critics' political affliation followed by a swift vilication and complete dismissal of what they say, simply because you do not share the same viewpoint. Yes, this country has definitely evolved into a nation that holds a bright future for our children.

I see stupid people and they do not even know that they are stupid (at least they have a reason).

Wake up America, look at Europe and you will see the "pain" we will go through if we do not start dealing with debt. The US deserves to be downgraded, and with the current policies coming out of this Administration, we will not see America grow (except in debt). Their solution, tax the rich; the problem, they will just spend more, and more, and more........

Too many organization take positions on "wants" or "needs" that they feel entitled to; we live in a country of too many takers (companies and individuals) and not enough givers.

oh how I long for the day when those getting "sucked dry" will just say the "hell with it", let this country get what is deserves.........

He picked up some Black votes with that appearance. He doesn't need that many to win from those voters.

Guess you must have missed that the people in the NAACP were raised with some manners - unlike the Tea Party crowd.

Is that what Rush is saying now??

Many Republicans seem to want to blame the state of the economy on government public assistance programs, but perhaps they're just trying to shift the blame from the real culprit: corporate welfare.

If the deficits are so dire, one wonders why they would cut corporate taxes in the states and continue the corporate federal tax loopholes that serve to raise the debt further.

Republicans blame the poor and plan to make the poor and other non-rich people in society pay for the mistakes of the financial markets and banks, while their millionaire and billionaire friends continue to get a free ride.

Mr Knee Jerk, Obamacare doesn't make people take responsibility for their own health care, it makes those who are working take responsibility for those who won't. Why don't you left wingers ever question the reasons for high medical costs, the real problem?

                    --------------------------------------

It may not, but it does make them pay if they don't get insurance. More preventative care will help to start to contain costs. Its just a start, though.

ctdad - and I think the right wing factions are putting our country at risk. By trying to take the country backward they offer no future for our children. By hating everyone who doesn't believe in ignorance and hatred, they are destroying the fiber of our country. By saying that if you don't have the same backward values, you have NO values, the far right is determined to tear our country apart.

We have made the strides we have because of liberals who were willing to take changes. Liberals always look for the new and are the reason we fly from city to city; the reason we visited the moon; the reason we have cell phones and computers; the reason we look for new sources of energy and new types of foods. The mind that is looking to expand is the reason we move forward.

It is the far right that puts our country in danger.

Having the ability to see thru the rhetoric and double talk is not a trait reserved for a specific demographic. It's our leaders, both political and civic, who play these games and presume because they share a common thread, be it the color of their skin or their political party, that they represent the best interests of thier contstituents.

brcent: The anti-Christ? Obama respects a much wider range of religious and spiritual (including atheist) beliefs as well as our Constitution which calls for division of church and state. So yes, atheists ARE going to be voting for Obama even though he is a Christian. We would prefer atheist candidates though because they don't base their thinking on fairy tales and fantasies of magical beings.

DB Akron: Your statements about Social Security Disability are wildly inaccurate. It's very difficult to be granted SSDI, most applicants are denied, and most recipients have to go through appeals before winning. It is not more generous than regular Social Security, which is based on your longtime income. And it's all too easy to be kicked off SSDI benefits: even if recipients work at home part time, they will lose their SSDI if they earn more than $800 a month. Any work at all increases their risk of being cut off. Plus, Social Security regularly checks up on recipients and their medical records to weed out any deadbeats.

Anyone other than the wealthy 1% would be voting against their own best interests if they vote for Romney. If you're in the 99%, then Obama is clearly your best choice for President now and in the future.

And its even worse for them that there are high minority poulations in the Swing states, which are breaking for Obama now and will determnine the outcome.

Too funny, only difference between democrat and republican is the spelling. Americans would do better to break the two-party system rather then fight over what a few people brand socialism and millions buy into to prevent them from thinking about it. A far far cry from Athens is American Democracy. The very first original designs of Democracy was a Socialist idea, the people not senates and lackies deciding their future and the care of others in that far flung future. The two-party system is only here to lock the bulk of money and privilege to the very rich, socialism is not what acts of socialistic reform in the modern age makes them seem to be, no more then modern communism (both more dictatorships then socialism at it's earliest potential). A society that earns cares provides and grows as a body with no favoritisms or prejudices is the goal. Vote for some poor bastahd instead of either of these candidates or vote Obama at least for the eight year developmental balance.

I have said for many years that there is a dimes bit of difference between our two political parties - only the way in which they throw out ideologies. Socialism is a word that everyone uses to make a point - the one for all and all for one mindset, no child left behind guilt philosophy that seems to set fire to all kinds of arguments between left and right. The fact is that government controls through division - divide and conquer.....the only winner being the government and that's the point of it all. I have seen, first hand, what government hand outs do to a culture - look at most of our American Indians - sadly they have been turned into a culture of alcoholics and have lost their initiatives to progress and their motivations to be become independent - accepting the benefits they are given by government deprives them of the honor. Look at inner cities people who receive the same types of benefits they are now uneducated (for the most part - check the statistics from Detroit Public Schools if you don't believe me). Ask yourself, will this happen to the rest of of if we allow government to become so huge they give us everything - do you want your life to become just one big handout after another and watch it crumble into self-loathing because your life's motivations have been stolen from you by so-called well meaning politicians - and when the ones that work and the ones that are the so-called rich run out of money because they are the only ones able to pay for it all run out of money, what happens then??? It all needs to stop.....I am neither left or right, republican or democrat, conservative or liberal - I am for standing on my own and doing all I can to be responsible for myself and my family and I will not blame anyone for my success or my failure - because I did it on my own. The rest of you who want to hold others responsible for what happens in your life - well all I can say is I feel sorry for you and, but, you have no one to blame but yourself because you let it happen........so sad!

When you go before a crowd that has serious disagreements with you, it is prudent to find areas of agreement. That is what people do who are able to think of anyone but themselves.

Did it come as a HUGE surprise to you, Mittens, that there are people out there that just don't like you? After all, you have been treated as the Crown Prince your entire lifetime!

To say that the NAACP or those in attendance does not 'like' Romney is a stretch. The group is open-minded people that are willing to listen. The fact that he had the audacity to say Obamacare was a moment to ridicule him based on the fact he is running for president. If he wants to be presidential, then he needed to name it Healthcare Reform. He deserves the ridicule based on his nomination and language not lining up with the office he is seeking.

I don't have anything personally against Romney nor Republicans, I just don't appreciate their method of lying, cheating and stealing from those less fortunate.

When compromise is considered a divisive or repulsive word (according to the Republicans) then there is no way to improve the situation.

Evidently the Tea Tools don't want the deadbeats who can afford health care to buy health insurance - which is the main part of Obamacare. It will drive costs down because millions will have insurance instead of abusing the emergency rooms and costing the taxpayers billions.

                            BTW:

Senior citizens are getting medicine, children are getting healthcare, people with per-existing conditions can also get healthcare....what kind of savages are the Tea Tools and the GOP to say that is a fiasco?

Knee Jerk- I'll clarify for you:

                            1. I don't give two squats if someone doesn't want insurance, it is(was) their freedom of choice to not participate and be liable for all of their costs in the case of an emergency. Who are most of these "deadbeats"? Young people just out of school, earning the least they (hopefully) ever will, trying to scrape by, generally in the best shape of their lives, only going to the doctor to get an annual physical. They don't need to spend $10,000+ a year to get a physical, but now they are villified and must pay. Great.

                            2. "It will drive costs down"- Sorry, but the CBO has already raised the "costs" bar of Obamacare by 1/3 and the provisions of Obamacare have driven up the costs of private insurances by 30-50% so far. Yeah, that driving costs down for the average person is going really well.

                            3. "Senior citizens........... fiasco?"- I can also clarify this for you. It is a fiasco. Clearly there were ways to change healthcare coverage for the better, but the governement decided that their control of our healthcare was more important than fixing the situation. It could have been easy: Allow for purchasing insurances across state lines (not allowed), allow for bundling small businesses into larger user groups for beneficial rates (not allowed), and legislate preconditions into insurance coverage. It would have caused a major feeding frenzy for new insurance users, rates would have dropped and competitions soared, AND the additional costs of preconditions would have been mitigated by the markets- not the government. We would have saved billions that way, but nope- government must be better.

Lastly, just so you know how Obamacare is going to cost you: Hospitals used to write off the unpaid emergency visits by the indigent against their bottom line, now they'll just pass those costs on to the government (and you). Drug companies used to give out drugs to stay in good graces with the government, now they'll be able to charge the government (and you) for everything. Smaller hospitals are starting to consolidate and collapse under the growing costs of medical insurance and limited reimbursement- so those costs will be passed on to the government (whom will place caps on their billings) and more will collapse when they don't get enough to survive. That means you will have fewer choices of where you get to go, btw. I could go on but I'm sure you've heard enough.

JoeNY - Pretty amusing how the "anti-Obamacare" crowd uses the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to scream about the cost of the Affordable Care Act but totally ignore the CBO numbers showing that repealing it will add at least $230 BILLION to the deficit over the next 10 years.

The Office of Management and Budget and Congressional Budget Office project lower Federal budget deficits as a result of the law. The Congressional Budget Office is charged with assessing how legislation would affect the deficit. When the health care bill was passed by Congress, CBO wrote:

"CBO and JCT estimate that enacting both pieces of legislation—H.R. 3590 and the reconciliation proposal—would produce a net reduction in federal deficits of $143 billion over the 2010–2019 period as result of changes in direct spending and revenues."

When Congressional Republicans sought to repeal the law, CBO found that eliminating the law would increase the deficit. CBO wrote:

"[T]he effect of H.R. 2 on federal deficits as a result of changes in direct spending and revenues is likely to be an increase in the vicinity of $230 billion, plus or minus the effects of technical and economic changes to CBO's and JCT's projections for that period."

And just last month, in updating its estimates of key parts of the law, CBO estimated that the insurance coverage provisions of the health care law would, compared to last year's estimates for the same time period, cost $50 billion less. Assuming no change to the rest of the estimates, this means $50 billion more in deficit reduction.

Bain Capital, under Romney's leadership, had one goal: take the money and run. More specifically, their highly successful process goes like this:

                            1. Take over a company
                            2. Borrow millions against the assets
                            3. Procure millions more in taxpayer funded grants and low-interest loans
                            4. Put the millions in grants and loans in their pockets
                            5. File for bankruptcy and hightail it out of town, asap

Dade Behring, GST Steel and Stage Stores were all used to get millions in loans and then forced into bankruptcy, and Bain made hundreds of millions of dollars before skipping town...while throwing thousands out of work.

America does NOT need a coward like Romney running the country.

The hospital wanted to refer us to the hospital charity fund if our income was low enough. Being the wife and I were employed at the time, we didn't qualify.

What they do for uninsured is try to get federal funds (when offered), get charitble help. At the end of the year they eat some on profit, and re-adjust what the charge to everyone else.

Seeking- So you are saying that nothing of what I wrote is accurate? Zero??

We currently have a number of local hospitals near bankruptcy and consolidating quickly. They are claiming that the rising costs of insurance and operating are driving them out of business. Around here our insurance went up 30-50% (depending on whom you have).

I believe that you'll see a lot of NYC/Bloomburg health provisions coming out of DC over the next 5-7 years- they are going to quickly realize that nationalized healthcare is hard to run. Like Canada they'll have to distribute resources "fairly" and you'll notice that there isn't enough equipment to go around, so you'll have to go further to get certain treatments. Similar to England they'll have to maintain costs within their budgets, so they'll have to decide when cancer treatment isn't worth it anymore (is it stage 4? You might get a few more months, but at what cost to the program??). So, as I noted with the Bloomburg reference they'll start "sin taxes" to curb your behaviors or give them more money for the program as you are a bad bet. So you might pay a fast food tax, an alcohol tax, tobacco tax, chip tax, etc. to help cover the costs. Maybe you can see that they'll just keep reaching further into your life and finances. I don't think that was the best option available and we are going to suffer for it.

Sadly romney has no idea how the other 99% live and struggle. In Colorado we must pay an additional fee in our health care, auto and home ins. for those who do not have ins. I canot afford to pay for others who chose not to purchase Ins. nor can I afford to pay for all their health and home needs or the wrecks they cause by drunk driving.

Thus, as romney claims that Obamacare is higher taxes---he is wrong by semantical definition------as Obamacare will not raise taxes on the majority or the minority but will coerce those who have chosen not to pay into healthcare to pay a fee for such choices prayfully over that of charging someone else for another's fees!!

Hence Romney tweeks the truth into lies!

And as I was watching this video, I couldn't help imagining a huge wave of crap washing over Mr. Romney while leaving clumps of his bull sheet in its wake!!

BTW: Which chamber of Commerce was he referring to---one in a town, a village county state, or a city????

Lastly, just so you know how Obamacare is going to cost you: Hospitals used to write off the unpaid emergency visits by the indigent against their bottom line, now they'll just pass those costs on to the government (and you).

They don't just "wrote off" the cost, they increased the fees elsewhere to compensate. But with the ACA in effect, there will be far fewer uninsured showing up in emergency rooms, so there will be far less "unpaid emergency visits", less losses that the rest of us will have to cover. No, they don't and won't "pass those costs on to the government", there is no provision in the ACA for that. In spite of the Teapublican hype, it is not "socialized medicine".

Drug companies used to give out drugs to stay in good graces with the government, now they'll be able to charge the government (and you) for everything.

Nope, drug companies hand out free samples to promote their drugs, hoping patients will try it, like it, and buy more. it has nothing to do with "staying in good graces with the government". For the most part, it will be the insurance companies (and you, if you have a big deductible) that will be paying, not the Government, except for Medicare and Medicaid - in other words, just like we now have.

Smaller hospitals are starting to consolidate and collapse under the growing costs of medical insurance and limited reimbursement- so those costs will be passed on to the government (whom will place caps on their billings) and more will collapse when they don't get enough to survive.

Aside from the irony of hospitals unable to afford health insurance (really?!?), the ACA increases the pool of people being insured, which should drive down the cost of insurance - more healthy people paying premiums, and the requirement to spend 80% of premiums on healthcare or refund the difference should drive down premium rates. More importantly, with far fewer uninsured patients skipping out on the bills, that should actually improve the bottom line for the hospitals.

Layton, since you are stalking me let me be clear. My reference was to all the posters making it sound like Romney went down in flames yesterday. He was in Texas, redder than red Texas. He didn't have the black vote before, but he always had Texas.

Also Einstein, I don't live in Texas, but I did from 2006-2010. I never supported Perry.....

Also learn to read, my post above was sarcasm.... it ended with. "Get real folks"

Obviously over your head. I am anti Obama.....

No one is questioning the unemployment numbers. Republicans got elected in 2010 by shouting JOBS!JOBS!JOBS! Where are they? Where are the jobs? Where are the jobs bills? Obama presented a jobs bill that was killed by the Republicans, but they haven't offered anything in return. They have spent the last two years restriction women's reproductive health choices and trying to disenfranchise the voters who usually vote Democratic. For all their bluster about overturning the ACA they have not offered a single alternative. Romney himself has said he doesn't want to give specifics because the last time he did that in an election it worked against him because nobody liked what he wanted to do. The Republicans complain that the Democrats engage in 'class warefare' and then they turn around and try to get the middle class (what's left of it) angry at the poor for needing help. Joke is, more and more of the middle class is sliding into poverty and they have been convinced that it's all their fault somehow.

Its not the taxes that are driving American companies overseas, its the regulations that make it almost impossible to make a profit in this country, business (read jobs) will go where it can thrive and will not stay in a place where it cannot thrive, Obama and his EPA and regulatory czars have created an anti-business atmosphere in America, and then they seem to be surprised that business abandons this country and goes where they can thrive. Businesses are in the business of making money, if they cant do it here, they will go where they can, they are in business to make money, they arent charitable organizations in existence solely to provide jobs for Americans, but this is what Obama sees them as, and he is wrong. Romney understands that in order to bring business back to America, there needs to be a business friendly environment, Obama just doesnt get that.

                                  MDrn -

I read some whoppers here, but yours is the one that made me finally feel compelled to respond.

You said "No one is questioning the unemployment numbers. "

That is False. I and many other people are questioning the unemployment figures released by this administration. Here, educate yourself.

                                  http://www.forbes.com/sites/peterferrara/2012/02/09/dont-be-fooled-the-obama-unemployment-rate-is-11/

Next you said "Republicans got elected in 2010 by shouting JOBS!JOBS!JOBS! Where are they? Where are the jobs? Where are the jobs bills?"

This is also false. The republicans swept into the House on the promise to stop Obama, and that is what they have done. As far as where are the jobs, why not ask the dems? They had a filibuster proof majority the first two years. What did they do with it? Now, because the republicans control ONE of the THREE branches, and dems control TWO of the THREE, you think the republicans are responsible? Hah! H.Reid won't even let bills from the House be voted on, because dems might vote for them. This is gridlock, because of the dems. Period. If the bills are so bad, let's hear debate! Let's have ammendments! Let's have votes! That's how government USED to work.

But this whopper right here, this is what moved me to respond. You wrote "Obama presented a jobs bill that was killed by the Republicans, but they haven't offered anything in return."

LIES. Plain and simple. I see this repeated often, but the facts of the matter are much different than what you present.

You see, our inept President spent all kinds of time and money flying about the country, waving his arms and shouting "pass this bill now!"

Trouble is, he is such a poor leader, he never even bothered to line up support from his own party.

When the republicans brought it up for a vote in the Senate, and called his bluff, no dems supported the bill. Harry Reid had to use a procedural rule to keep the bill from ever being voted on.

A more experienced leader, someone who knows how to work with other people, would never had made such a foolish mistake.

As a result of all that, The President looked Foolish. Not because of the republicans, but because The President himself did in fact act foolishly.

Who goes making a spectacle of themselves like that and doesn't even have the support of his own party? He could have at least asked them. His own arrogance led to that debacle.

Face it, Obama fails at every measurable level, even the ones he lies about to try and puff himself up.

I'm no Romney fan, but at least he has a proven track record, and was able to work with a very liberal legislature here in Ma to get things done.

Seriously, I'm supposed to be more worried about what Mitt Romney does with his own money than what Obama does with MY money?

                                  Yeah, good luck with that.

And if the Health care bill was so awesome, why when the republicans brought up a nonbinding resolution to support it, Reid had to squash the vote, because no dems wanted to go on record as supporting it?

How come all the provisions kick in AFTER the election? Wouldn't the President want everyone to see it in action, so they can see how awesome it is? Once the voters see how awesome it is, they will all vote for Obama, right?

Lols. If it went into effect before the election, Nobody would vote for him. There is no other explanation that fits. A lot of nasty stuff in that bill, a lot of it still coming down the pipe.

                                  Don't get splattered with it!

If the Crown Prince of Corporate America would have been President after Bush.. no one would be buying an American Car. The Crown Prince would have have purchased GM (example) saddled it with more debt, fired all the workers, claimed bankruptcy.. and moved all plants to China. Then he could have also qualified for a tax cut.

The National Association of Angry Colored Prostitutes doesn't represent THIS black American Conservative. They lost my attention long ago and lost many other blacks after supporting rainbow weddings recently.

The black church ALSO left Barack in droves when he assaulted their Conservatism with his 11th hour support of same sex marriages.

I screamed at Romney NOT to address this group and play by democrat playbook and try to form a coalition of disgruntled identity groups.

Speak to ALL Americans as often as possible. Invite EVERYONE to EVERY meeting and BUILD ON OUR AMERICAN-NESS. I love my country and all my fellows. Stop catering to those who would divide us by race, class, sex and party. Americans are FED UP with this crap.

I'm glad they 'Booed' you. NAACP is all about color, and you aren't theirs! Don't get stuck on stupid and assume all blacks think of you this way. I voted for you on principal (you had best resume) in 2008 and I'll do so again this year.

When will blacks ever wake up? They should be being booing Obama and his party, for enslaving them and ruining generation after generation. They obviously cheer Obama for racist reasons, after all democrats have destroyed the black family through years of welfare and lack of work requirements. Ever since blacks have started voting democrat thier lives have been lessened FACT! So does it shock me an organization that wants hand outs to boo someone who could help them? Sadly no.

LOL. If you are going to say that Obama is not doing anything to help African Americans, prove it. Why not attempt to do your own research first, and then actually post what you find to this reply? You don't mind if I ask you to back up your comment with "REAL" resources right? If what you say its true, it should be no problem for you to find plenty of sources. FACTS speak louder than rants and raves.

Oh and then please let me know when Obama is supposed to 'draft' a budget that goes to CONGRESS with the sole intent of helping African Americans. In case you didn't realize it, that is something called DISCRIMINATION against all non African Americans. Read the US Constitution and then come back and tell me exactly what is 'legal' for Obama to do here. I am all ears.

                                    Obama is not a racist.

There is no doubt Mr. Romney is a politician that knows when to curb an argument is response to a boo. Nonetheless, the economic question is how his agenda is going to accomplish better this and bigger that and support the welfare programs all over and expand here and create jobs there without an initial investment that translate to a higher deficit? From a social point of view, how the Romney agenda is going to synchronously steer the 300+M people of the US nation in any direction from day 1?

In the absence of a plan that shows directionally how the P&L is going to look like, the Romney team approach to campaigning, as obviously seen in this short video, is just vote for me because I know the problems and will figure out a solid plan later, when and if elected. It seems that the team don't believe they are going to win thus curtail putting the time and effort for a sound analysis. Talk is cheap and less expensive, so why bother putting a plan.

By contrast, President Obama and his team not only identified the issues in 2008 but put a SMART plan and they carried the majority of it in 2009. Had it been for their plan and excellence in execution then, the WORLD would have been still struggling with the ugliest financial debacle the human race had ever known. Now, they do have a continuity plan for economic, education, and social/political growth that puts the US where it should be.

So the question to us "voters" is whom to bet on? Would it be on a government experienced, honest, dedicated, reasonable, competitive yet fair players, or "just more of the same" old school of debatable business experienced one time scorers, unfair, apathetic, false promises and blind squanders of mishaps type of a team?

The stakes are high and every vote counts.

You gotta love the NAACP ... like the KKK that was the Democrat fraternity to keep blacks from voting for Republicans the new KKK is the NAACP. Their job is to keep all the slaves voting for the White Liberal Slave Masters ... yessir boss we be good ... they're nothing but a bunch of House Slaves, Jim Crow, Uncle Toms, hoping their Liberal Slave Masters give them some crumbs off the table of power.

The reality is if look at the effects of Obama over the last 4 years, on the economic condition of blacks, you can only come to one conclusion and that is Obama hates Black People. He has put so many black people back in the Ghetto one might even speculate Obama is a Stealth KU KLUX KLAN mbr.

Isn’t it about time that the House gets off their behinds and get some real work done? Also, the law is not called, Obamacare. The law was passed by Congress (both the House and the Senate)and not by Obama. Romney is one of the most deceitful, flip-flopping, political liars in the U.S. He claims the new healthcare law is immoral, unlawful, horrific, etc. etc. Yet, ROMNEY IS THE ONE, who set up the model (for this new healthcare act) in Massachusetts while serving as their Governor. If the bozo were smart enough, he would campaign that he was the developer/initiator of this Healthcare Bill and signed it into law for his own state, rather than admitting it was lawful then, but now claims just the opposite with this new National Healthcare Law. It’s amazing that the Republican Party cannot come up with anything better than a person, who talks out of both sides of his mouth. But then that tends to be the nature of the Republican way nowadays.

It seems to me that Romney is just a guy who would very much like to add "president" to his list of accomplishments. He doesn't really take it seriously, does he?

And, our President is doing a better job than Romney could EVER do! Please grow up and either stop posting or stop with the "socialist," "communist," "marxist," "kenyan," stupidity. It is just so lame and says everything about you!

If you actually want to persuade anyone to your side, this is not the way to do it. You just end up sounding like the fool you are.

“Socialism”… currently the most clichéd noun in the English language today!

When over 60% of this country cannot name who is the Vice-President, there is no way in hell they have the slightest inkling of what socialism represents!

Must be nice to live in a bubble where when you continually hear a word bandied about, decide it would be a good idea to use it RATHER than research its true origins.

Momma always said stupid is as stupid does. Politicians from Texas keeps doing stupid things, and people like you keep voting for these stupid people. Thus, you must support the stupid things that Texas politicians do. That is what educated people call a logical argument. Logic, that is something that is not supported by your state. I'm sure you can just hold a statewide day of prayer to solve this problem.

Careful consideration of HOW TO PAY FOR THINGS is not "out of touch" ... it is reality !

Under Obama, our country is now $16 trillion in debt, with no budget and no plan. Obamacare is simply another government entitlement program the U.S. cannot afford. Social Security disability is projected to be "DRY" in 3 years, then Medicare (which Obamacare gutted $500 billion from) is next, then to be followed by Social Security.

Everyone wants the freebies .... but they want someone else to pay for it.

So highpckts, when the republicans were trying to stop Obama's "payroll tax cut", you were for it?

Did you know he specifically targeted FICA, or SS funding?

Did you know in order to give everybody in America 10$ more per week, he took the money from SS?

Did you know the republicans would have cheerfully voted to lower federal income taxes by that amount, but Obama insisted the money come from FICA?

Did you know that 60% of that cut goes to individuals making more than 120k per year?

Obama isn't for the middle class. He is lying to you, and you are swallowing it blindly.

John, you named them entitlements. But for working Americans that tax witholding is a savings account. If you want to get rid of them then you gotta pay everyone back the funds they depositied (with interest) with you. The GOP has done a good job of borrowing from the Social Security Trust fund but never putting a penny back. If the money's had not been used by the congress there would be no discussion and no problem. If you had a clue about compound interest it would help. The program was designed to be self supporting and in fact if the money's had not been spent it would be totally self supporting at this time and without any witholdings from current workers. Once again, when you point fingers just check and see how many fingers are pointing at you.

Bush put us into this hole with two wars, wars we are STILL paying for. The latest news is, it will cost billions just to withdraw from Afghanistan. 48% of retiring Iraq and Afghanistan War veterans are claiming disability. This is the Republicans' legacy. Bill Clinton left us with a budget surplus when he left office and we were on track to pay down the deficit. As much as you hate it, foodstamps and rental assistance to the poor are not what caused our national debt to soar.

A clueless person wrote this speech that Romney delivered. What a wasted opportunity. I doubt anyone in the Romney campaign took this event seriously. It was all symbolic. Nothing more.

How can they possibly make such disconnected statements in front of any audience. Is this a joke or a slam on all ethnicity's except white guys. Really, I can't make sense out of it and I doubt they are really this stupid??? Would he repeat some of his War on Women ideas in front of an all femal audience? Romney looked equally uncomfortable and out of touch when he was speaking to Latino activists at an event on June 21st in which he called for hard-line reforms to US immigration policies and vowed to complete the 2000 mile long fence between the US and Mexico. He also told the audience he would vow to repeal President Obama's DREAM Act. Ol' Etch-A-Sketch wasn't received too warmly at that event, either. Is it possible that...maybe, just maybe...he's actually trying to lose...? If so, I think his strategy is working.

Just a quick point: most people on welfare are white. Maine is the whitest state in the country and we have one of the highest numbers of people on foodstamps.

Thanks for the info Amy. I do know this. My point was that when he attacks these "non-essential" programs he disproportionately hits people of color in their pocket books. I also realize that his 13% tax rate is nothing more than welfare for him, a very wealthy person, who needs no welfare from the country. He should be ashamed of himself asking them to give up something so he can be taxed only 13%. He should really be ashamed.

Amy - Most people on welfare are white because most people in America are white, their percentage however is lower than the minorities who disproportionately collect welfare in relation to their portion of the population.

As an African American I can tell you it is useless for republicans to go after the African American vote. African Americans will vote against their best interests everyday of the week. You see it in the inner cities where we continue to elect the same tired old democratic politicians. Unemployment continues to increase in the black community and its all the republicans' fault. Sadly, its never going to change. It is what it is! Nothing changes.........................

Seeking Sanity and Job1 both dissing John-1888246 simply because he doesn't fit the racist profile they have for all African Americans. Typical liberalism.....if you don't think exactly like us you can't possibly be black. The gets to the heart of the divide between Democrats and Republicans. The divide between people seens as members of stereotyped groups and people seen as individuals; a tribal society (not much different than those of the Middle East and Africa) and individualcentric Western societies. It is the liberals who seek to pull us backwards into the past societally as fractured and competing groups despite their mantel as "progressives".

Oh, by the way, every one of them are voting Republicans.

The biggest government dependents are WHITE PEOPLE. There are more whites on welfare and government assistance than any minority. But then knowing that TRUTH would blow most white racists brains apart so they ignore it.

Whites are the largest race in America so why wouldn't they have the most people on welfare?

Whites receive welfare at closer to HALF their percentage of the population while blacks collect welfare at a proportion closer to DOUBLE their portion of the population.

Why bother even addressing this group? It is well known that 90+ percent of black Americans will be voting for President Obama. I'm sure it has nothing to do with his race.

Look at historical patterns. Marion Barry, the Detroit mayors. All black, and all incompetent. Yet re-elected time after time by the black majority.

They're not voting on the issues.

Mitt's next big speech is at a convention of women's rights advocates. He will be announcing that he doesn't believe women can be trusted to make rational decisions regarding their own bodies, but on the bright side he intends to make polygamy legal in all 50 states.

I think Etch-A-Sketch may actually want to read his speeches before giving them in front of crowds. He may, at least, be better prepared when the audience starts booing him...

Dear Mrs. Ann Romney, hasn’t it been nice staying home and raising a family??… oh wait, that’s right, you’ve never touched a pot, pan, dishrag, vacuum cleaner or probably even the children.

You’ve been a spoiled, self-entitled, kept woman who has had house keepers, nannies, a plastic surgeon and whatever else your husband’s money can buy, so please stop comparing yourself to a REAL stay at home mom, you’re mocking us.

Your contempt for Mitt Romney and your jealousy of his success just proves why we have an inept, corrupt foreign-born Arab occupying the Oval Office and spitting on our Constitution. You cannot play the race card as your boy is less than 50% African. Besides, I hold Commissar Joe Stalin Biden in as much contempt as I do your "Anointed Leader".

If you haven't already reserved Charter busses in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida and some other states, you had better get it done as availability for November 6th is going fast. You are going to need all the voter fraud you can muster to keep your stoolie in office.

The jobs that they are going to eliminate are gov. jobs that are not needed and redundent. Its time to cut the waste and overhead. If you believe that adding jobs to the gov. is creating jobs you are an idiot with no business sense. Those jobs are OVERHEAD.

Spending cuts send the right message, we are broke----ever hear of Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain....California......gov. jobs create no widgets, just endless waste. Roads....sure....but what part of the gas tax goes for that and is is still not enough.

If that was a bad "boo" then I'd say he's doing just fine with the message he's using. Obama has done nothing but hurt SS and medicare. Increased taxes have never curred a thing. And WHAT pray tell has sending money to Washington ever done to make for a better living that has been A-in budget, and B work as planned besides the space program and----ooopss.....Obama got rid of that and said it was time for private enterprise. Maybe this thinking can go for AMTRACK which we have funded for how long and what loss per ticket? Good greif. Your lost.

Tell that to the tens of thousands of people that will IMMEDIATELY be laid off, in the vain hope that reducing the growth of the debt will somehow create new jobs for those "redundant" workers. When exactly will that happen? Not soon enough, that's for sure. Are you willing to pay their unemployment until they can find decent work, or should all those hard-working, educated people go pick fruit for minimum wage?

How exactly is employing people NOT employing people? Certainly, it adds to the debt problem, but a job is a job. Ask any of the millions who need one.

As for being "an idiot with no business sense", please remember that personal attacks are frowned upon here. If you can't discuss a subject without name calling, then go pick a fight in a bar or something.

You know whats really funny is that when the full law kicks in and the fines (taxes) for uninsured people not getting insurance kick in, 90% of those assessed will be the minorities that now use the Emergency Rooms as their private doctors office. If Mitt wanted to talk to them about that, they probably would have listened, but to call it "Obama Care" and say hes going to cut it, is attacking the man, not the policy, and there is no way that would pass in that crowd without boos.

How can you vote for a man who hides his money overseas. Thats real American. Makes you wonder how many of his "donors" are doing the same thing. Like I said thats real American. A vote for willard is like taking a step back in time. Really is that what you want? All this is about the rich getting more tax breaks. If you believe that the "job creators" need tax breaks to create jobs your wrong! We need jobs here to make consumers to buy products. This country has outsourced so many jobs its a wonder if we will get any back. Than they blame the unions for that, when corporations should been working with the unions instead of vilifying them. willard helped start the outsourcing of jobs. Just how American is that? One more thing look at his donors. How many of them are blue collar workers? A vote for mitt is a vote for the rich.

I am a blackman, not a teabagger, just an independent moderate conservative with an economics degree. I worked at chrysler before it was sold to the germans (daimlerchrysler). The unions were in bed with management when it came time for the merger of two equals. Unions sold out the rank and file. I was a low level manager, and I lost my job. Unions kept asking for more money and benefits until they drove that company into the ground. As far as my fellow black brothers, keep voting strictly Democrat and then ignore the fact that there is no such thing as a free lunch and then tell yourselfs that all the Republican party is, is a bunch of racists, and you will continue to get what you get. I know a lot of brothers who are on SSI disability when they could be working. I see many of my brothers and sisters applying and receiving EBT (food stamps) and then abusing them by selling them to someone else or buying something other than what the program was intended for. THERE is no such thing as a free lunch! Doesn't matter what Obama promises you. You have to ask yourself why is the crime so high in your neighborhoods and why is are our urban cities gang infested. That is the Republicans fault right?

Seems to me that black people are the true racists - how disrespectful for them to boo Romney - when people boo Obama they are called racists so lets call black people who vote for Obama just because he is black "racists" - makes sense to me!

There's nothing illegal about having overseas accounts...they still have to pay taxes in America. Ask Valerie Jarrett, Charlie Rangel, and Debbie Wasserman Dingbat how much they have in overseas accounts. Practically everyone in the government has overseas accounts, both Dems and Repubs. Did you ever get a job from a poor man Mr. Smitty? Or don't you work at all? Ask O's buddy--GE's Jeffrey Imelt how many jobs he's outsourced to China and how much he paid in taxes on his 14 billion--$0--and how much he contributed to O's campaign?! You wouldn't know the truth about O if he smacked you in the face and told you what it is himself....and he's not going to save the middle class, your a$$ or anyone's a$$ but his own.

When I was working as a carpenter I worked for a small contractor who was quality minded than money minded. I also find your personal attacks on my post humorous. Its more funny that you complain that GE pays no tax, I thought thats what the republican/tea bagger party likes. You know no taxes on corporations.

Funniest damn thing, a number of commentators (all of African-American identity) pretty much decided that Romney wasn't ACTUALLY talking to the NAACP.

He was talking AT them, but he was really talking to those KKK folk watching the whole thing later on and seeing him get booed by 'them uppity ni**ers'.

That's only if you parse every thing just so. Of course jobs were created overseas because of the actions of those like Bain. They were not really "job creators" anyway rather vulture capitalists looking for the next dying cow from which to take blood. The issue with Bain is whether or not what they did when they took over (aka/ infused capital into...) companies? This business is not illegal but I have always viewed it personally as morally repugnant. I have seen personal examples of these "capital" companies and the bottom line is not the interests of the worker but rather the bottom line. They found a niche which to exploit. But there is little moral boundary considered in regards to creating profits in this type of venture. Each voter should consider this for themselves. But if they are not properly informed that consideration is useless. Both sides have flaws to their arguments but if I look beneath the surface of Romney's party no way in hell am I voting for him.

Road Warrior - You might actually want to read that fact check before you use the word "debunked":

From the Washington Post, July 2, 2012:

Instead, the article says that Bain was prescient in identifying an emerging business trend — the movement of back-office, customer service and other functions out of companies that were willing to let third parties handle that business. Several of the companies mentioned in the article grew into major international players in the offshoring field today.

The Romney campaign, for its part, is attacking the article on the basis of how the Obama campaign interpreted it, not what it actually says.

As part of its demand for a retraction, the Romney campaign produced a slide show claiming that many of these companies actually created jobs in the United States. The slide show, however, only shows half of the picture — these are the jobs created at these companies, but they are replacing customer service and manufacturing jobs that had once existed at other companies. Most likely, it’s a wash — no overall job creation one way or the other.

In other words, the same jobs moved from Company A to Company B — and then eventually they moved overseas.

The broader implications of this trend are lost in the tit-for-tat of 30-second ads. As the Post article pointed out, there is an ongoing debate about the merits of the practice.

Economists will argue whether a globalized world is a good thing or a bad thing. A strong middle class in India might become a market for American products, boosting jobs in the United States. Americans may also benefit from lower prices for goods (such as a bicycle). Alternatively, one could say that the transfer of such jobs overseas has hollowed out the U.S. economy, leaving fewer opportunities for American workers.

                                                          NAACP Mission Statement
The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.

Now in order for any smart individual to make a decision on what is right for them personally they must be able to...let me say that again.... they must BE ABLE to think rationally and without prejudice. You take the mob mentality out of the equation and reasonable people can listen to opposing views without jumping up and down acting like an unruly mob. The NAACP is outdated and no longer needed... When was the last time you heard of the NAACP come to the aid of a white, asian, latino, native american, person? According to their Mission Statement they are to ensure political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons! I dont see that happening...they are just as devisive as Republicans and Democrats....Conservatives and Liberals.

Now as to the clowns that heard Holder speak of getting a VOTER ID Card as a POLL TAX..... Are you insane? The idea that it will create hardship on a citizen to get off their asses and get a an Voter ID card is ludricous! How difficult is it to go to the DMV to get a license so you can drive? You can bet your ass if you want to vote you will get off your ass and do what is required of you. With corruption and ID fraud all around us you would think that you would want your vote to count for something and know that all votes cast are legitimate votes! It is easy to sit back and complain about something, anyone can bitch and moan... but it takes a person with conviction and drive to stand up and find solutions to problems...

Romney was at his flip flopping best. He called healthcare a non-essential program. Also the Chamber of Commerce only represents the largest corporation so the study he quoted was not a balanced view of the jobs situation. Small businesses do not belong to the Chamber and yet they have been creating most of the jobs. How can Mitt be for the Ryan Plan which calls for a voucher program which limits benefits and at the same time say that he will strengthen Medicare? The more I hear this man, the more I see a typical conservative without conscience who tells the audience what they want to hear but has another agenda all together in mind. The truth is that he is only looking out for the wealthy libertarians and could care less about the rest of us. The GOP continues to tell lies and expects that the expensive ads will fool the majority of the people. Maybe they will. Maybe they won't. But I do not want to see the Bush policies on steroids because they will further deteriorate this country and democracy will be a thing of the past. Why won't Romney submit his past tax returns? What is he really hiding?

He was insulting the intelligence of the audience when he said that a high percentage of blacks are unemployed due to the President's failed economic policy. We all know about the high unemployment numbers for whites, blacks, and any others out there...and it has nothing to do with Obama. Lots of jobs would have been created, other than the 4.4 million that have already been created, if the crazies of the GOPteagnutparty would pass the jobs bill put forth by the President.
