Orlando, Fla. -- Speaking before a crowd of more than 2,000 Tuesday at the University of Central Florida, First Lady Michelle Obama listed President Barack Obama’s initiatives during his first term – including his recent executive order to stop deporting undocumented immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children – and said those policies are all “on the line” in November’s election.
“In the end, it all boils down to one simple question. Are we going to continue the change we begun, the progress we made?” Obama said. “Are we going to let everything that we fought for to just slip away?”
“We cannot turn back now,” she added. “We need to keep moving forward.”
The reference to President Barack Obama’s announcement last month that he had moved to block the deportation of hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants was perhaps an indication of how crucial Florida – rich in Latino votes – has become in an increasingly tight election.
“He knows and believes that it is time to stop denying responsible, young people opportunities in this country because they’re the children of undocumented immigrants. It’s time to stop that,” Obama said of her husband’s support for the DREAM act, which would offer a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants who have graduated from high school.
The measure has been held up in Congress since 2010.
According to pool reports earlier in the day, Obama made a quick surprise visit to the Blanchard Park YMCA in a mostly Hispanic neighborhood in Orlando. Many children recognized her – one girl covered her grin with both hands but could not hide it. Another asked for a hug.
At the university, Obama spoke for about 25 minutes inside the basketball arena. A state fire official estimated there were 2,251 people in the bleachers and on the gym floor.
There was no mention of the president’s opponent, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, or of class and money – prominent themes in the attack ads released by both sides.
Still, Obama made a careful pitch of her husband as an ordinary man, whose origins as the son of a single mother “who struggled to put herself through school and pay the bills” leavens his judgment in office.
“I have seen how as president you are going to get all kind of advice for all kinds of people,” Obama said. “But at the end of the day, let me tell you when it comes time to make that decision as president, all you have to guide you are your life experiences. All you have to direct you are your values.”
"We all know who my husband is, don’t we?" Obama added. "We all know what Barack Obama stands for, don’t we?”

Promoting rewards and special treatment for immigration lawbreaking is a DESPICABLE and LOSING strategy. Americans across the political spectrum (including this life-long Democrat and '08 Obama voter) find this pandering charade to be a grotesque attempt to appeal to the very lowest common demoninator including to the ILLEGAL FOREIGN NATIONALS and their insufferable advocates. Such a strategy will result in defeat in Election 2012, as Americans and LEGAL immigrants are fully aware that their interests and opportunities are being sold out by this short-sighted notion that lawlessness deserves rewards. The Obama Administration have opted to subvert federal immigration laws by their proclamation of Executive de facto amnesty. If there was any doubt that amnesty only serves to incentivize exponentially more lawbreaking, Reagan's 1986 Amnesty is Exhibit #1 (which, unlike Obama's authoritarian proclamation, was endorsed by Congress).
It is patently offensive to AMERICAN CITIZENS and LEGAL immigrants (whose interests our leaders are duty-bound to protect) to be told that ILLEGAL FOREIGN NATIONALS do not need to comply with federal law and are entitled to rewards for violating our laws. Further, it should be insulting to Hispanics to continuously be portrayed (both by the media and by the Democratic leadership) as people who demand rewards and special treatment for immigration lawbreaking.
Mrs. Obama on the campaign trail again ? Wow, the ObamaTeam has everyone scattered across the country.
However, I don't think it is very wise for Mr. Obama to sned out the East Wing of the White House because it will definitely have a negative impact on his APPROVAL RATING. Here are a few reasons NOT to send Mrs. Obama out on the streets:

You guys dissing the First Lady are just wrong. Michelle Obama is a classy, smart, beautiful woman. She's an awesome mother too. Just like Laura Bush, Hilary Clinton, and Barbara Bush. I happen to think that Mrs. Romney is a wonderful person as well. Will she not be campaigning for her husband? We would criticize her if she didn't--people would say that they need to see the spouse, that she needs to support her husband, etc.
Being human, Michelle has said a few things that have been taken out of context or that she probably wishes she could take back. She's not perfect. However, I think Michelle rocks. I wish I had known she was in Orlando yesterday; I was there visiting my grandmother and would have absolutely loved to hear Michelle speak. As a woman, wife, and mother, I respect her and appreciate the awesome role model that she is.

I have no problem with her campaigning for her dim-wit husband...but to say she's a "classy, smart, beautiful woman" is a stretch for me. She may be smart (in a diabolical way) but, to me, she's neither classy nor beautiful! Just not my cup of tea, I guess.
According to polls Mrs. Obama enjoys a 69% approval rating . Mrs. Romney is at 40 %, but perhaps that will rise as people get to know her, or maybe it will go the other way.

Michelle's mom was a homemaker and her dad was a city employee. In any case, Michelle was such a gifted student that she skipped a grade, and she also graduated cum laude from Princeton and went on to earn a law degree from Harvard. She had to take out loans to pay for it along with scholarships. And when I say "beautiful", I'm talking about her whole person--her character, heart, etc. along with her huge smile. It was not right then and it is not right now. As you know only so many foreigners can be admitted to the U.S. as set by Congress, and if these people are counted in that number then what about the people that wanted to come here legally but was denied because the quotas were filled, is that fair?
I would personally like to know how illegals are getting into the military since you have to prove legal residence in order to join (proof of U.S. Citizen or a Green Card). I spent 20 yrs in the Army (1960 -1980) and saw numerous illegals who got in but were discharged when discovered they were illegals.

So if number validate the action then you know that current estimates how President Obama's action will only affect 800,000? Heck, that's less than a million isn't it? Besides, President Reagan's action granted amnesty and pardoned people. President Obama's action did not grant amnesty nor did it pardon.

While you are at it, if you are going to be consistent and honest, how about fussing at those states that refuse to use or completely implement e-Verify to identify illegal immigrants when apply for a job? It's free, but oddly enough at least three of the states that are doing a lot of fussing (Arizona, Texas, and Florida) refuse to use it. Per Gov. Scott (FL), using e-Verify would put his state at a "competitive disadvantage in business." In other words, Florida businesses want illegal immigrants there.
So some States want to suck up to the businesses and have advantages of having undocumented workers that cost less than Americans but they also want to put on a two-faced show of whining about illegal immigrants "taking away jobs" and costing the taxpayer money. Completely bogus and all politics.

I don't know what planet you live on, but illegals DO take decent jobs away from American workers. Construction, landscaping, and many other good paying jobs are dominated by them. It should piss Americans off, when they're struggling on unemployment, while the illegals have steady work. If it doesn't there's something wrong! By the way, after my active duty time, I joined an ARNG combat unit, that was literally right across the street from social services. The men would drop their wives there to get welfare, while they went to work. Don't tell me they're not bleeding our tax dollars. I've seen it with my own eyes!

The 1986 amnesty was Ted Kennedy's idea, and strictly enforcing existing immigration laws from then forward, promised by the Simpson-Mazzoli Act, was supposed to be part of the deal. So Reagan (who later said it was the biggest mistake he made) and Congress (Dems and Repubs alike) went along and gave amnesty to almost 3 million illegal aliens, sending the message, that if you can steal in and stay long enough, the Americans will reward your illegal acts by giving you amnesty. How strong was that message? We now have 4 times as many, or more, wanting amnesty.
So, let's give these 12 million illegals amnesty and in another 20-25 years it will be 48 million wanting amnesty. Does that sound like a good idea to anyone?

Ted kennedy was a powerful dem, he got off for DUI and murder. I guess the only time you can ever get away with crimes like that is if you are in fact a Kennedy.
First of all it wasn't murder, it was probably manslaughter or negligent homicide. Secondly, he didn't get off as easily as he did because he was a Kennedy, but because he was wealthy. The rich live by a different set of rules than the rest of us. On the other hand, that was back when it was considered an unfortunate occurrence when a drunk driver killed someone. I knew of a situation in my home town in the late 50's when a drunk ran over a kid and killed him and the drunk received more sympathy than did the family of the dead kid.

Obama stepped up deportation on illegals who have committed crimes in addition to being in the country illegally. Also, the Bush administration Returned more than 6X the number of illegals that the Obama administartion has.

Hypocrites- is there any difference between outsourcing jobs- which the Obama admin is relentless in condemning - and allowing illegal immigrants to work in this country? He's done more on immigration enforcement than the GOP. With a majority in the House, not a single immigration enforcement bill has come out of committee in this Congress.
