Why Iowa and Colorado are so important to Obama and Romney… The reason: They make life easier getting to 270… Can Democrats stay unified on the Bush tax cuts?... Romney’s fundraising asterisk… The battle for Senate control… And why it probably hinges on whether or not Obama wins re-election.

*** The importance of Colorado and Iowa: Today, President Obama and Mitt Romney will campaign in two battleground states that are important to their paths to 270 electoral votes. Obama stumps in Cedar Rapids, IA at 1:50 pm ET, and the Hawkeye State -- which launched his presidential bid in 2008 -- has been frustrating this time around for him. Polls show the president deadlocked with Romney, and reporting like this recent Des Moines Register dispatch suggests that many of the folks who were fired up and ready to go in ’08 aren’t as much in ’12. (Some Obama folks think the president’s problems in Iowa stem from disappointment due to the higher expectations folks in the state had for him.) Here’s why Iowa, despite its six electoral votes, is important to Obama’s path to 270: Winning the state gives him more flexibility. For instance, he could lose FL, OH, and VA and still surpass that magic number if he wins CO, IA, NV, NH, and NM. But if you take Iowa away, then he has to win one of FL, OH, and VA.
The Daily Rundown's Chuck Todd previews the latest campaign stops and why the topic of the day may be taxes.
*** They make life easier getting to 270: Meanwhile, Romney today is in Colorado, where he holds a town hall in Grand Junction at 12:35 pm ET. And just like Obama’s situation with Iowa, Romney winning Colorado gives him MUCH more flexibility getting to 270 electoral votes. For instance, if the former Massachusetts governor wins that state, he can still lose Virginia but win the presidency by capturing FL, IA, NH, and OH. But if he loses Colorado to Obama, then he has to win in Virginia (or another state that John Kerry won in ’04). Bottom line: Obama winning Iowa and Romney winning Colorado makes life a lot easier for them.
*** Can Democrats stay unified on the Bush tax cuts? As for the fight over the Bush tax cuts -- which will be Obama’s message in Iowa today -- the question is whether Democrats remain united with Obama. We know the issue polls well, but the reason why Democrats lost this battle in 2010 is because of squeamish red- or purple-state Democrats. Here are the three Senate Dems (running in races this year) we’re watching: Jon Tester in Montana, Bill Nelson in Florida, and Claire McCaskill in Missouri. Nelson already said yesterday he wants the limit to be $1 million, not Obama’s $250,000. Ditto McCaskill, per Politico. One other observation here: It’s no coincidence that Obama is making the Bush tax cuts an issue at the very same time his campaign and surrogates are highlighting Romney’s offshore accounts. This is about trying to send the message that the “rich guy” who plays by his own set of rules on paying his own taxes is now fighting for more tax benefits for himself.
*** Romney’s fundraising asterisk: Although we won’t learn all the details and apples-to-apples comparisons until the FEC reports are due on July 20, here’s what we do know about the presidential money race: For the second-straight month, Team Romney (campaign/RNC/victory fund) outraised Team Obama (campaign/DNC/victory fund), $106 million to $71 million. But there’s an important asterisk to some of this money that folks are forgetting. Romney can’t spend any campaign contributions earmarked for the general election until after his party’s convention in late August. So if one donor gives Romney the maximum contribution to the campaign ($2,500 for the primaries, $2,500 for the general), Romney can spend the first $2,500 now -- but can’t spend the second until September. The Romney camp even admitted this in a memo it released yesterday morning. “[W]e are only allowed to spend primary dollars from now through the convention,” the memo stated. So if you want to know how Romney could be raising more overall money but still be outspent in advertising, here’s your answer.
*** The danger of jumping to conclusions: We want to make an additional point about the money race: Way too many people are jumping to conclusions right now. What appears to be going on is that Romney -- since becoming his party’s presumptive presidential nominee -- is grabbing the big checks from his party (up to $75,000 per donor that goes to the campaign, RNC, and victory fund). If he can keep up this pace in July and August, then we know he has a financial juggernaut on his hands. But if the pace slows down, then you know that his campaign has picked all the low-hanging fundraising fruit. Another thing to keep in mind: While the Romney camp controls the RNC and victory-fund money, there are strings attached to those dollars. (For example: In this presidential contest, coordinated party expenditures are limited to $21.7 million.) And here’s one other point to make: It’s likely that Obama’s June campaign-only haul isn’t far off from the $54 million it raised in June ’08. Those comparisons for the remaining months will be important. Both campaigns are pursuing DIFFERENT financial strategies. Team Obama is going for maximum spending FLEXIBILITY and because they didn’t have to spend primary money on a primary, they have that luxury. Team Romney is looking for maximum fundraising capacity, but it comes with more strings on how much of the money they are raising can be spent on TV advertising.
*** The battle for Senate control: Yesterday’s news that Rep. Shelley Berkley, the Democratic nominee in Nevada’s Senate contest, is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee is a blow to the Dems’ chances of picking up that seat in November. More importantly, it gives them even less margin for error in their effort to hold on to the Senate. This ranking of the GOP’s best pick-up opportunities is an easy way to look at this battle for Senate control:
1 Nebraska
2 North Dakota
3 Montana
4 Missouri
5 Florida
6 Virginia
7 Wisconsin
8 New Mexico
9 Ohio
10 Hawaii
*** And why it could hinge on whether Obama wins: If Obama loses re-election, Republicans need to pick up just three Senate seats to gain control. And if Angus King (I) wins in Maine and if he decides to caucus with the Dems, that moves the number to four. Under this scenario, Republicans winning NE, ND, MT, and MO would do the trick. But if Obama wins re-election, Republicans need to net four Senate seats -- and thus win five if King caucuses with the Dems. So under that scenario, Republicans winning NE, ND, MT, MO, and FL would accomplish that feat. And if Elizabeth Warren (D) beats Scott Brown (R) in Massachusetts, that would push the GOP’s number up to six seats. Bottom line: If Obama wins re-election and if King caucuses with the Dems, they have a much better chance of holding on to the Senate. But if Obama loses, Mitch McConnell is sitting pretty in becoming majority leader.
*** The remaining unknowns: And there are still some unknowns to contend with. Who becomes Claire McCaskill’s challenger in Missouri? (It’s fair to say that one opponent gives her a better chance than the others.) And who will Tammy Baldwin face off against in Wisconsin? (Will it be Tommy Thompson?) And while Nevada looks tougher for Dems after the Berkley news, don’t forget this: Somehow Harry Reid won it in 2010…

Whatever floats the boat. And Romney's boat is sinking fast.
When a surrogate calls the middle class "common" then the out of touch debate becomes the GOP are clueless debate.
Romney is the Bain (BANE) of society. Some people just want to watch the world burn. And that is the GOP strategy. Just watch it all burn.
President Obama is putting out the economic wildfires. By keeping cool, he stands above the rest.
Psychology of Voters:
Ever wonder why voters vote the way they do? I can't say that I'm an expert on the topic, but I have given it some thought. Perhaps the biggest factor has to do with your family of origin. It is not always true but I suspect that if your mother or father was a Republican, you too will be a Republican. Same is true for Democrats.
For a long time I believed that Americans voted their economic interests, but I no longer believe that to be true. It is clearly not in the interests of middle class families to vote for Romney as he is the poster child of the one percent. Romney should be getting only a small percentage of the vote but instead it is a potentially close election. Willard's adherence to the "marvelous" Ryan budget says he is in favor of taking away Medicare as we now know it and giving tax breaks to the wealthy. This is strong evidence that middle class Republicans do not vote their pocketbook.
Observing the Tea Party, it appears people fall in love with a particular ideology. Less government, self-reliance, picking yourself up by your bootstraps, male dominance, and the writings of Ayn Rand suit the conservative mentality. And for years that philosophy has been a powerful driver for conservatives.
On the other hand there are Americans who believe in government finding common solutions, that health care is a right—not a privilege for the privileged, equal economic opportunities for women, openness to immigrants, and a strong middle class. Obviously, these are some of the tenets of Democrats.
The two above paragraphs have to do with how we THINK about issues. But emotions also play a role in how we vote. Voters do care if the candidates understand their plight. Qualities like honesty, integrity, having a core set of values, and common religious beliefs do matter. Saturday John Boehner said voters aren't going to fall in love with Mitt Romney. That is indeed a true statement; wooden Willard just isn't that loveable.
So why is this election going to be so close? People will overlook Romney's money, his off-shore tax havens, his outsourcing of jobs, his desire to increase the taxes on the middle-class, and his wooden demeanor but will vote for Romney anyway. Why? Because conservatives will be voting against President Obama. They feel uncomfortable and threatened by someone who is more articulate, more compassionate and wiser, someone whom they call an elitist and not like us.
Fortunately the majority of Americans are not that biased.
Team Willard's rowing squad are up the creek without paddles!
Why no mention First Read on Karl Rove's super secret speech once again skirting campaign fundraising laws?
What a crock!
Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell says the odds of Republicans taking over the Senate after November's elections and him becoming the new majority leader are only "50-50." The Kentucky senator says he expects "a very close, competitive election" in the battles for the 33 seats on ballots this fall.
All that is needed is to take the Senate is hold the 11 Republican seats and take only 4 of the other 22 seats and he says the odds are only 50-50.

Weak Sales Deflate Business Owners’ Optimism: Survey
,

Small business owners’ pessimism about the U.S. economy seems to be rising with temperature. For the second month in a row, the Small Business Optimism Index declined, according to a monthly survey by the National Federation of Independent Business.
“Optimism fell off last year at the same time, but not like this,” said William Dunkelberg, chief economist for the NFIB. The index was down three points in June, after a one-tenth of a point decline in May.
Hiring among small business owners remains weak, according to the survey. While construction and manufacturing saw increases, overall, the index saw a three-point decrease in the survey from May. Nine percent of the owners adding an average of 2.6 workers per firm over the past few months, and 12 percent reduced employment an average of 2.8. The remaining 79 percent of owners made no change in employment.
Capital spending, too, was down, with a three-point decrease from May, as 52 percent of respondents said they has purchased equipment, vehicles, or facilities over the past six months. In 2007, that number was 60 percent.
However, said Dunkelberg, the most salient indication that optimism will not increase anytime soon is the sales number — down 7 points in the past three months. “That drives everything,” he said. “Profits, the need to hire, funds for making capital expenditures. Without sales, you have none of that.”
Weak sales were cited by 23 percent of respondents as their biggest business problem; 28 percent reported lower sales over the past three months, while 26 percent said they had higher sales.
The survey, which was sent to members in early June, measured, for the most part, the sentiments of 740 small business owners before the Supreme Court’s ruling on the health-care mandate, which many small business owners had said would create an extra burden if they had to provide health insurance for all employees. The NFIB was a plaintiff in the case that went before the Supreme Court in March, arguing that the individual mandate was unconstitutional. The court ruled in late June that the mandate was constitutional, calling it a tax.
“The predominant view among business owners is that Obamacare is not good, and they were hoping for a decision that would take it apart, at least the mandate part,” said Dunkelberg, who said that the court’s decision had little effect on this month’s survey, but predicted it will further depress the optimism index in the months ahead.
Is there anything that could push business owners to reverse course between now and November? Dunkelberg said that a stagnant Congress and the economic situation in Europe don't give Main Street a lot of reason to hope things will change anytime soon.
“Washington keeps doing nothing. There are two strong sides, and each keeps the other from doing anything. Washington is paralyzed, and Europe is falling apart,” he said.
While real estate could continue its upward trend in some markets, and profitability might take hold in some sectors, the overall economy is going to continue seeing fits and starts, he said.
“We’re going to be pessimistic until November, when we see what the voters say and what path we’re going to be on," he predicted. "Then, we may still be pessimistic, but at least know what direction we’ll be going.”
GOP plays more chicken:
Governors like Rick Perry are fighting to the last drop of our blood to save the poor, neglected Insurance companies from providing affordable, quality health care to all Americans ~ after decades of denial, death and bankruptcy.
Texas has the highest rate of uninsured folks in the country. One quarter of Texans - more than 6.2 million people, including 1.2 children - are uninsured in Rick Perry's state. Under the Medicaid expansion provision in the Affordable Care Act, almost two million more Texans would become insured.
But Governor Perry has decided to deny Medicaid coverage to uninsured Texans - because he can. SCOTUS allows states to reject expanded Medicaid funding without penalty. And as per the Affordable Care Act - Perry knows if he refuses, the federal government will set up health care exchanges FOR him. Exchanges will allow the remaining millions of uninsured Texans to buy affordable health insurance.
Rick Perry is grossly lying when he claims that state exchanges and Medicaid expansion "will not result in patient protection or in more affordable care". That is just false.
Nine Republican governors say they will/are considering refusing $258 Billion in Medicaid expansion money, leaving millions of constituents uninsured. And denying state economies & health care systems a needed boost. Not surprisingly, a new study demonstrates that the highest number of uninsured Americans live in states governed by Republicans.
OUCH!!!!
Looks like most American’s agree with my position that Eric Holder is a moron. That’s gotta hurt if you are a lefty liberal.
From Politico:
Eric Holder contempt vote supported by most Americans, poll says
By: Tim Mak
July 9, 2012 09:51 AM EDT
A majority of Americans approve of the House vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress, according to a CNN/ORC survey released Monday.
Indeed, 53 percent of respondents looked favorably upon the rebuke of Holder’s unwillingness to hand over documents related to the Fast and Furious gun-walking program, while 33 percent disapproved of the vote. 13 percent had no opinion.
The vote was held, Republicans say, because Holder was not fully compliant with a House subpoena requesting documents related to the Fast and Furious operation. Democrats and the Justice Department counter that the documents withheld are internal deliberations that have, by tradition, been kept private throughout past administrations of both parties.
Though most Americans approve of the contempt vote, they are suspicious of GOP motives. Only 34 percent think that congressional Republicans are investigating Holder because they have “real ethical concerns.”
Most respondents, 69 percent, said that the president should stop invoking executive privilege over the documents and “answer all questions.” Sixty-one percent said that they considered the vote political – that Republicans are investigating Holder and the Fast and Furious operation because they want a political advantage. Less than a third, 27 percent, say that the president should continue using the privilege.
Meanwhile, Holder’s approval rating has not changed dramatically over his tenure as attorney general: 25 percent have a favorable opinion of him, up from 23 percent in Dec. 2009; while 31 percent have an unfavorable opinion of him, up from 24 percent.
The poll was conducted June 28 to July 1, with a sample size of 1,390 registered voters and a sampling error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
Good morning Louis, Ron, Feisty, Dennis, great postings.
States have until Nov. 16 to lay out their plan for exchanges. Via Medicaid expansion, subsidies and exchanges, the Affordable Care Act will reduce the number of America's uninsured by reducing "uncompensated care" = trips to emergency services. This will dramatically reduce costs paid to hospitals by states, to pay for for emergency care for the uninsured.
States like Wisconsin could save as much as $3.7 Billion from 2014 - 2019 --- if they do not opt out of Medicaid expansion under the ACA. Of course, (R-WI) Scott Walker is among the GOP governors threatening to do so.
As new studies are released on how provisions in the ACA help state budgets, it will become clear that Republican governors like Rick Scott, Rick Perry and Scott Walker are driven by political/A.L.E.C./Big Insurance motives.
Just how little GOP governors care about their non-affluent constitutents, will become increasingly obvious.
Fantastic analysis Ron!
I also think the conservatives unique ability to keep low information voters in a perpetual state of fear has something to do with it as well...
They have perfected it to an art form!
I just watched a Republican Congresswoman get her panties in a bunch trying to say why extending the tax cuts for those making less than $250,000 is a bad thing. She got so confused she started calling our President’s proposal a tax increase.
Joe in Albany -- It's all about DEMAND. Ask the Republicans where are the jobs they promised.
As for healthcare and small business:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/kathleen-sebelius-the-affordable-care-act-has-made-the-us-health-care-system-stronger/2012/07/09/gJQA1BOOZW_story.html?tid=pm_pop
Ron in Indy: They will also look at Romney's excellent track record as Governor (4.7% UR and a balanced budget), his "stellar" business background, and the way he handled the 2002 Winter Olympics. They will compare it to our current President who has higher much higher UR and has done nothing but create an even greater deficit even though he promised different while running for office.
THE DECISION IS SO CLEAR THAT ROMNEY WILL WIN IN A LAND SLIDE.
Elect the fixer Mitt Romney President in November for the sake of this great country. We can no longer afford a president that thinks taxing job creators is a good thing for the economy.
Backhouse,
I wonder when they will start closing hospitals in Texas, because Perry refuses to get his head out the the sand?
BTW, NJ did take the Federal money to expand their Medicaid rolls along with 10 others states. The rest are standing on the side lines.
Joe in Albany - so where are all those jobs the 1% were going to create with their big tax breaks? Tic toc, you are on the clock, we are all waiting to hear why those 1%ers don't love this country enough to do the right thing - put the money back into the US economy, not the european economy, not the caribbean economy - the USA economy, that is what I understood the tax breaks to be for. If that was not the intended purpose of the tax breaks for the 1%, then I suggest we allow anyone, regardless of income, to receive big tax breaks for every dollar that is put back into the US economy in the form of real long term, good paying jobs with good benefits, otherwise it is just corporate and 1% welfare.
What's your point Joe?
You want to use numbers when they benefit your stance but ignore them when they don't?
How about these numbers.............
Less than 1 in 5 in this country have any faith in the republican controlled House to accomplish what is in the best interest of the American people.
The current House has the lowest approval rating from the American people than at any other time in our history.
In essence Joe, you are backing a bunch of losers as seen by the overwhelming number of people in this country.

America
Let's clean up this mess in November and never make such a stupid mistake again.
Joe - Why is it when we have a democratic Justice Department we get dead Americans? Ruby Ridge, Waco Texas, Fast and Furious?
I have said for the past 3 years that this administration will show Americans the true liberal agenda and it will be the best thing for the conservative movement in this country. The problem is the fact that I didn't think it would be this bad for America. These guys have screwed up beyond belief.
Don'tcarryit - What about the increase in jobs over the past 24 months that Obama keeps talking about? Have his policies changed in the past 24 months? NO. Did the republicans take control of the House of Representatives? YES. Some change has helped, so which is it?
All Hail Obama.
Ruler, Master, and Overlord of all you knuckle-dragging Neandrethal Republicans and you crazy-wacko Teabaggers for the next Four (yes! 4) very long years!
Ain't life grand?
And a special thank-you President Obama from protecting us Policemen, Firefighters, Teachers, Women, gay, Mexican and Chicano Voters, Blacks, all People of Color, and of course all those Undecided Independent voters, from Republicans and Mitt Romney who want to Destroy the Middle-class.
Hidden Swiss Bank accounts? phony Cayman Island shell companies, a measly 15% tax-rate? Unreported Income? Nonrelease of one's Tax returns? I don't think so!
We don't need Mitt Romney as our "Outsourcer and Chief", do we?
Citizen Bain -- Romney did those things with GOVERNMENT HELP and GOVERNMENT MONEY.
Short term economics are important, but even more important is to have someone of integrity in the oval office. Romney is a proven liar. Do not forget that the very first ad run by him was an out of context quote by the President that was a blatant lie-which Romney himself said was fine by him. The guy is despicable.
Citizen Bane - the will also take big notice of one thing the white elephant in the room that the gop refuses to acknowledge - Mitt is a Morman, the Bubba's I know and the members of the SBC (Southern Baptist Convention) and the Souther Evangelical voters will never vote for a member of the Morman Cult - it is a fact, this born and raised Southern girl can attest to. I've been raised in Bubbaland all my life, have many friends & family members in the SBC and who are evangelicals, heck even our Methodist preacher knows this is true - can't recommed we all vote for someone who is a member of a cult they have preached against for over a century, and the gop normally does not win without big wins in the south.
Ron your analogy is flawed by the fact that voters are not threatened by the President being to articulate and compassionate because he is that. They are threatened at the fact that he is incapable. He didn't get it done in 4 years and you liberals are the only group on the planet that seem to think he can get it done in 4 more!
Northstar,
Mighty big of Rick Perry to mess with millions of Texan lives, by refusing Medicaid expansion:
"Representatives of Texas Well and Healthy, a coalition of supporters of the federal health care law, said Texas would receive more than $70 billion in six years in Medicaid financing if the program was expanded. They said the federal government would cover 100 percent of the costs of the expansion for the first three years, and 93 percent to 95 percent in the years that followed."
In Texas' largest city of Houston, 30 percent of constituents are uninsured. Closer to the border, that rate goes up to 37 percent.
He knows it & is just being willingly deceptive...
CitizenBain,
I believe that if things remain unchange until November that the race for President will be very close.
I'm voting for Romney for two reasons: 1. Do not like the route that the President is taking with America. 2. Again, with the speech that the President gave yesterday, showing divisivness and adding fuel to class wars.
feisty, Deceptive is a word that best fits our President, specially yesterday. Were the Bush tax cuts for the Rich only or were the cuts for all american. Another lie form the Left wing.
$106 million to $71mm. Don't look like a sinking boat to me Libtards. I bet it doesn't to Odumbo either.
I'm a Republican and as a Republican, I'm encouraging all my Republican friends, Ron Paul supporters, and all you Undecided Independent Voters to vote a straight Democratic ticket come this November 2012.
It's the Right thing to do. Let's send the Republican Party and Mitt Romney, who want to Destroy the Middle-Class, (metaphorically and politically speaking) back to the "Dung Heap of History".
Hidden Swiss Bank accounts? Phony off-shore Cayman Island shell-companies, measly 15% tax-rate, hiding your Tax returns? I don't want Mitt romney as our wannabe "Outsourcer and Chief".
Do you?
Vote a straight Democratic ticket come this November 2002. You'll be Glad you did.
I think the easiest way to win the upcoming election is to promise the dumb-masses(uninformed) more benefits at no cost. The sheep will line up if you tell them that all they need to do is vote for you and government will take care of them.
The current models are:
Obama- Punitive; damn the rich(class warfare), separate the groups/not unite, evil big business, the Republicans hate you, spend more to get more jobs, more government taking care of you, more stimulus spending, raise the taxes of the rich......
Romney- Bland; Let me kiss the baby, obviously Obama's policies are hurting the economy, it doesn't have to be like this, cut taxes and create jobs.......
Neither is doing a good job on the road. I see no leadership on the part of the President and I don't see anything but wide open comments from Romney. The only thing I'm getting from either of these guys is a sinking feeling about the country. I don't get the feeling that Obama is leading this country for the better and I'm not hearing Romney tell me how he's going to turn the the mess in a better direction.
I'd just assume put the two of them in a room with some highly regarded reporters (one selected by Fox, one from CNN, one from MSNBC, one from a conservative paper, one from a liberal paper). Give an hour to each reporter and give them a direct line to each candidate- ask them ANYTHING you want (policy, past records, vision for the country, etc.) but it's your best opportunity to grill them. No holds barred, no off limits questions. I'd guess that some reporters would ask some real questions of value, while others would spout their preferred party's platform, but in the end I think they'd give us something to chew on.
Next I would give the reporters six HOURS to process what they heard and set up their questions for a debate. Then I'd put them all in front of a primetime live audience and have a two hour debate of more questions without teleprompters, cribsheets, and study sessions. We'd quickly start to realize the candidate's views, policies, and visions. That would be the best thing for the public...... unfortunately I'm sure that most of the public would be watching the Kardashians, Entertainment Tonight, or reruns of The Family guy instead of watching the candidates. The next day the networks can run the interviews from the morning and we'd get something to compare them on.
Backhouse,
Maybe Perry really does want to secede from the Union.
Then he can apply for foreign aid from the US .
Reminds me of "The Mouse That Roared", an update of an old movie.
But Perry is not Peter Sellers.
Jerry40yeardemocrat
So in other words.. Romney should "BUY" what he can't win on Merit right? Please...

The current House has the lowest approval rating from the American people than at any other time in our history.
_______________________________________
nomore: It is always better when you get your facts straight: It is CONGRESS, not the HOUSE, that has record low approval ratings. CONGRESS includes the Dem controlled Senate. Both parties ar responsible for the record low approval ratings.
Well, here we go again. President Obama throws another curve ball at the Repugs, and they just swing and miss again. Tax cuts to remain for us poor Democrats and reinstatement of taxes for the rich. How un-American scream the GOP. What will the Tea-Potty say about this? It's the end of the World (expect if your in the middle class). And you haven't seen "nuthin" yet, the President is just getting started. Just wait and see. I'm loving it.
Offshore accounts Romney, where are those tax returns. Are you hiding something? Have you not been paying your taxes on these monies? The Middle Class wants to know. Oh, I know, the Middle Class be damned. Well, who do you thinks going to elect you if you chose to continue to spit on us?
OBAMA IN 2012.
Joe in NY -- The Republicans hero, Reagan raised taxes.
Reagan raised the capital gains tax, payroll taxes and income taxes. The latter during a recession.
Joe in Albany -- The Congress consists of the Senate and the House. The rating includes both.
So Citizen Bain, does the Democratic party get any credit for Romney's success in Mass.? After all they did hold the majority and he didn't get things done without their help. Of course they do. But will you give them any? Of course you won't. You just want to make it sound like Romney did everytning single handed, just like at Bain, right?
Northstar, Peter Sellers is still in a league of his own.
And he lived in a world where Universal healthcare had been the norm since World War II:
A world with families secure in the knowledge that no matter what suprises were in store - the family doctor was there making the morning rounds to houses, and the door always open to folks in his office.
Sellers is the biggest crack-up in my book. And he could afford to laugh.
Republican governors, and these GOP/Koch-ers playing life and death with ordinary Americans - are out to make us miserable.
Don't Carry it All
I'm well aware of that. When Romney is faced with an issue he uses all resources available to him and solves that problem because he is a competent individual and a great leader.
Unlike others who tend to blame their problems on predecessors to deflect attention from their incompetence.
Ron, excellent post. It is beyond me why middle class and poor conservatives--there are many, many of them--continue to vote against their own self interests but they do. One reason is God, guns and gays. The GOP has been very successful in convincing people to vote for republicans over social/cultural issues even though those have no impact on their pocketbooks. I do think, however, that the era of using God, guns and gays to motivate voters to choose republicans may be coming to an end. Eventually, beating a dead horse proves a fruitless effort.
Feisty, thanks for posting that tidbit. Imagine that, Tagg Romney, hosting a Karl Rove SuperPAC event while claiming it is unrelated to the Romney campaign. I second your observation: why nothing from First Read on this and other reports like it.
Backhouse, well said. Interesting to observe that so many GOP Governors of red states like Texas and Louisiana declare they don't care about the uninsured children and adults by virtue of their expressing they will "opt out" of the medicaid portion of ACA. These red states are the very states with the highest levels of uninsured, the highest levels of the working poor. Their GOP Governors choose to play politics over the good of their own constituents.
Where do liberals come up with this stuff? Oh I know, first you write it down, then you read it, and you believe everything you read. Unless Romney wins, we will have total gridlock in Washington for at least the first two years of Obama's second term. Republicans will hold the house, and it will be a toss up in the senate. So this is anything but a toss up election, and the outcome will reverberate for generations to come.
This nation is in dire straits, and Obama has no intention of trying to fix it, he wants to turn this country into an entitlement nation. The more people with their hands out to the government the better. You don't just wake up one day and declare the United States a socialist nation, but you do usher it in, which is exactly what Obama is doing. More people are living off handouts from the government then ever before, and Obama just wants to continue that expansion.
Remember, Obama has already said he will have more flexibility if re-elected, since this will be his last election. Obama was an enigma when he came into office, and he has done nothing but attempt to transform the country through division and hatred. The Obama vision for this country was formed from the teachings of Bill Ayer, Rev Wright, and George Soros. All of whom hate the nation we have today.
Ron, I have thought quite a bit about why people vote as they do.
What's interesting too, is, a segment of the population keeps voting Republican, even though history has shown, they end up not liking Republican policies or politicians.
I grew up during the Nixon era, which turned me off Republicanism from the start (although my parents were Republican and I voted for Gerald Ford.) Nixon was truly a crook and his Vietnam War poliies were horrific. History has judged him one of the worst Presidents we ever had.
The Republican myth-making machine has younger folks convinced Reagan was extremely popular during his presidency, but the truth is, his approval rating sank to 35% at one point and unemployment hit over 10% during his first term.
We won't even discuss George W.Bush, since even Republicans want to forget his administration. So, why in the world would folks give Romney a chance to repeat the same policies that drove previous Republicans to such depths of failure, as judged by history? And, he isn't even smart as Nixon OR as likeable as Reagan!
Right wingers are hilariously exploitable for money, and these dupes fall for the idiot bait every time.
Joe in Albany - so where are all those jobs the 1% were going to create with their big tax breaks? Tic toc, you are on the clock, we are all waiting to hear why those 1%ers don't love this country enough to do the right thing - put the money back into the US economy,

Spoken like a true clueless lefty liberal. Capital is deployed where the owner of the capital bellieves they will get the best return for the risk of losses they are taking by investing the capital. It has NOTHING to do with "love of country" or "doing the right thing". It's a simple risk vs reward dynamic. And, as long as there is a global economy, capital will go elsewhere if the good ole USA isn't a promising risk/rewrd opportunity. Until, and unless Barry and the lefty liberals realize this fact, the USA will remain uncompetitive in attracting capital. I have believed for a while now America will not ever realize this fact and it's best economic days are in the rear view mirror. Jjust like former world economic powers in the 1600-1900's like Spain, France and England which have devolved into socialist mediocracies. Sad, but true.
Citizen Bain -- IF Romney is so principled and pretends to want less government, why does he rely on government to be successful? For instance, the carried interest loophole that favors the very very rich guys. His campaign has come out and said that might be a tough loophole to eliminate. REALLY???? Why??? Well that loophole favors private equity and hedge fund managers. They enjoy a 15% income tax rate. Emphasis on INCOME.
You said:
Yet the guy wants to make sure the middle class has no resources to help them.
"For instance, if the former Massachusetts governor wins that state, he can still lose Virginia but win the presidency by capturing FL, IA, NH, and OH. But if he loses Colorado to Obama, then he has to win in Virginia"
My math disagrees. If we count the states what are solid or leaning for the candidates, Obama has 216 electoral votes and Romney has 207, and the 'Battleground States' are NV, CO, WI, IA, OH, PA, VA, NH, FL. All Romney needs to get to 270 are WI, OH, IA and FL.
According to Rasmussen, the most accurate pollster in the presidential elections of 2004 and 2008, Romney is slightly ahead in WI, OH, IA and is essentially tied in FL. In virtually all of the other 'Battleground States', they are either tied or within the margin of error.
Of course, polls this early can and will change over time. By the way - most of the polls reflect 'Registered Voters' which are skewed in favor of the Democrats by about 4% because Republicans are more likely to vote. Likely Voter polls like Rasmussen are more reliable. Cases in point - In 2004, polls of Registered Voters just before the election had Kerry ahead by 2%, but polls of Likely Voters had Bush ahead by 2% - the final result was Bush won by 2.4%. In 2008, polls of Registered Voters had Obama ahead by 11%, but polls of Likely Voters had Obama ahead by 7% - Obama won by 7%.
Joe the 1 percent can go live with Romneys offshore illegal accounts he is hiding. Make room for everyone else
Republicans for Odumbo............no such thing.
Libtardspeak=horsesh!t.
And if the 1% have it so good, why don't you become one. Too Stupid ? Too lazy? Or both?
I have yet to see a Libtard/turd answe this. Typical.
It always brightens my day when I look at the state of the economy, the dismal job numbers and the forecast of the poll numbers. These and the inane comments by the Obama supporters and the deflections that are attempted to hide the incompetent handling of the economy.
Let President Obama run on his record, without blaming previous administrations. After 4 years, he owns the problems, the inability to work with others and flexibility to understand that he is not all knowing.

CitizenBain-
If Romney was so successful in Massachusetts, why is he not proposing the same solutions for America?
In addition to implementing "RomeyCare" with an individual mandate, Governor Romney relied on a $1.3 BILLION Capital Gains Tax increase that was approved before he was elected governor but was in place during his tenure to help balance the budget. Romey also raised fees and implemented new fees to raise revenues. Romney cut spending to towns and vllages, forcing them to raise property taxes to record levels. Overall, state and local taxes increased under Mitt Romney.
Romney's approval rating at the end of this term was an abysmal 34% - he was so unpopular he decided to not run for re-election for fear he would lose.
No wonder Romney rarely mentions his time as Governor of Massacusetts.
Roy WIlson - Rassmussen used to be accurate but now they are in the pocket of the Republicans. In the most recent 2010 elections they were the most inaccurate of the major polling organizations, missing the final results by an average of five points - ALWAYS in favor of the Republicans.
Apparently their founder Scott Rassmussen enjoys his Republican-sponsored vacations too much to be unbiased.
@Jerry
Comments from right wing whackos like jerry are intended to denigrate and irritate anyone who isn't of their ilk. The GOP, Tea Scum do not respect anyone else or anyone else's opinion or viewpoint. They are narrow-minded, and they are capable doing just one thing well: Spouting off Faux Noise talking points.
Jerry and the right wing lunatics are a faction of Americans who LOATHE the idea that anything should ever change, as if change is a bad thing. These are the same type of people who lashed out at participants in the Women's Suffrage Movement, the Civil Rights, Gay Rights Movements, Obamacare, OWS.....or anything else that goes against GOP backward values.
Im sure people like jerry are waiting in the wings to take their Bibles & guns to protests and whoop up on somebody who is only exercising his/her right to voice their opinions.
Vote out Bill Nelson - Florida (R), he is a senile idiot. New progressive blood please.......
So if a state has low unemployment - its because of their fantastic governor. If it has high unemployment - its because of Obama. Got it.
You people are clowns.
This hate talk among ourselves has got to stop -- and I am just as guilty -- but I will stop. We are not enemies. We are Americans. We all know that one political party or another wants to see anyone suffer or has goals that will favor one class of people over another. This has just got to stop. Our enemies are out there in a land far away who are trying to infiltrate our very being.
Please take some time as you read this and pray for a wonderful young man -- the son of a lady in our church and Sunday school -- who just lost both of his legs in Afghanistan. His life has been altered. His life will never be the same as he begins his first recovery stage in Germany before coming back to the states. It happened over the weekend.
This country needs to be out of that hell hole they call a country vowing never to go back unless it will be to totally finish the job from the air. Stop risking the lives of our young men and women to fight a politically correct war. Bring them home. Fortify our country internally. We an disagree but we can do it civilly and we can respect another person views without calling them names, pathetic, ignorant, racist, etc. etc. We can accept what the our system of justice says, what our electorate says but if we disagree then we can work to change it with civility and truth. Let's become a nation again. A nation rich in heritage that will protect its language, borders and culture.
America needs to be the best neighbor amongst its world neighbors, but that doesn't mean it will be the stepping stone of any other nation. That doesn't mean we will be forced to become like other nations. We need to be what has made us great and we must not steer away from that path. I pray to God we can alter our course and get back to being "One Nation Under God" again.
Speaking of respecting the view points of others
Bloated Tea Bad - "The GOP, Tea Scum do not respect anyone else or anyone else's opinion or viewpoint."
I notice a trend that the Liberals tend to be less tolerant than the conservatives when it comes to differing opinions.
Just how many hypocrites does it take to make up a Democratic Party? The world may never know. If Republicans are bad, then the Democrats are equally bad if not worse. Liberals rant about Romney having offshore accounts, which are legal, but apparently only reserved for Republicans.
While big time Democratic donor Denise Rich which paid Bill Clinton for a pardon for her husband renounces her US citizenship solely to avoid paying taxes. What happened to the Democrats rant about everyone paying their fair share?
Ray LaHood our transportation secretary wants to take credit for the development of the Lexus Hybrid, which came out in 2004 during the Bush years. Revisionist liberal history rolls on. The Democratic Party is all about whatever it takes to prove their point, even it they just have to make it up.
The whole story of Romney as a capable administrator saving OlymPigs is a false - wishingful thinking - and out-and-out lie.
The real story is Romney went to congress, asking for money, telling Congress that a failed OlymPigs would make America look bad.
Congress gave him some 'pork,' doh! Congress doesn't make money, so more taxes for Americans. I am sure a successful Salt Lake OlymPigs did make US look good, but -
Romney is pork King, a vulture living off on taxpayers, a vampire feeding on taxpayers.
Northstar,
Slick Rick could care less as long as his prescription pain-killers don't run out!
Don't Carry it all: Again, Romney is a doer not a talker like our current president. I admit he is not consistent in his ideology. What is consistent about him is that he is successful at everything he does because he does not tie himself down to certain core beliefs. He sees a problem and fixes it and does what needs to be done. Wouldn't you agree we need someone EXACTLY like Romney to help us out of this mess.
TNSV : Did you catch the poll a year after Romney left office asking who was the better governor Romney or the current governor? Romney over 50%.
Rasmussen was close, Roy- but SurveyUSA was actually better. Unfortunately, both organizations forgot the old axiom "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", so have fiddled around with adding an Internet component to their surveys. Rasmussen did this with no prior announcement; SurveyUSA heralded their change.
All of this is to say I'm not sure just how accurate they are at the moment- events will either bear out the changes, or prove them flawed. Personally, I believe the latter, as both are wildly over sampling "cell phone only" users. This group comprises 25% of the population, but represents about 40% of those polled by these organizations, (to say nothing of Gallup, which falls outside their margin of error regularly. This over sample will not help.)
As to Ron's decrying emotional voting- this is to laugh. America got swept up in a wave of media driven euphoria, and is now suffering the hangover of all hangovers. Why are people against re electing Obama? Well, it's not because of his golden tongue- unless, of course, you do consider the private sector is doing fine, that the unemployment report was a step in the right direction, that you can get to Brazil on the Intercontinental railroad, that Hawaii is in Asia, or that the president can send troops unilaterally to kinetic military actions despite the War Powers Act. It's not because he went to Harvard- so did Romney, who got simultaneous degrees - an MBA, and a Law degree- something accomplished by only 14 others.
It's because Obama is an incompetent failure who does not learn from his failures because he refuses to admit them. It's because of over sixteen billion dollars given out in his Dollars to Donors program for companies that went belly up. It's because of his incoherent foreign policy, that has left the world in far worse shape today than when he took office.
It's because he whines, wheedles, and blames everyone but himself for the disasters he creates. And it's because he lies- about everything from his dying mother's health insurance to his opponents records- and then castigated the independent factcheckers for calling out his lies.
Americans were sold a bill of goods- and are living to regret voting emotionally. They will redress that problem in November.
Obama shelved in 2012.
With Republican Gov. Rick Perry of Texas and other republican governors threatening not to implement the Affordable Care Act in their states, they are all creating REPUBLICAN DEATH PANEL. Republican governors are deciding that the poor would get to die under their plan. The same plan they and teabaggers announced quite loudly during Republican nominee debates.

Wow....lots of blind sheep on here. Lefties please tell us what Obama has done to improve the economy? Simple question that will get far too many hate filled answers and blame game answers.
Also....Fiesty, do you ever post anything with substance? Or do you just do the typical liberal thing; you know insult people that dont think like you? I never see you write anything that is thought provoking. Where is that liberal tolerance and open minded thinking that all liberals have?
Ben - for the first time ever, I voted you up. Nicely said.
Ron Indiana - great post - as usual.
Concern - as usual you post your hatred for Obama with nothing but your opinions to back it up. I'm surprised you aren't spouting your armchair psychology today but I'm sure it's coming!
Citizen Bain - Romney is successful at nothing but spending other people's money and destroying lives because he frankly doesn't give a damn. He didn't run for re-election in MA because he couldn't win - he was hated that much. And, he's basically done nothing for years - except pout and claim it is "his turn." It can be his turn to ride the car elevator - nothing more.
President Obama is bringing the country out of the worst economic downturn since the depression - with no help and only obstruction from the right. We WILL remember the GOP's treason in November and vote as many out as possible.

There is no "sinking" on Romney's side. Polls are trending his way. Per likely voter polls, Obama 266, Romney 266, Iowa is a tie. It has been this way for 3 weeks now. Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania at the last series have Obama under 50% and Romney closing. There is a lot of time between now and november.
The Senate Score is 48-48-3 and 1 tie. I just saw a poll on Feinstein. Up 23 points down froom up 31 points 3 months ago.
Kinda self explanatory isn't it?
Oh Come on Feisty......I really would like to see some of your opinions on things instead of snide remarks all the time. I also noticed you didnt answer the other part of my post.
I live in the north east and i could not think of an employer in my adult life that was paying more than $11 per hour and did not offer some sort of health insurance as a benefit package... Union job or not. If it was a union job, most of your benefits were paid for by the union including retirement benefits and all you had to do was pay your do's... I am so glad i dont work in a "Right to Work For Less" state. And i am so baffled by the fact that so many in people in these southern states rely on these traveling tent hospitals for care as if they lived in a 3rd world country. If you see any interviews by the folks that run these tent hospitals, they always say that most of the people they see have at least on job and maybe two so it isnt like these people are free loaders like fox likes to call them. And these Governors have the odasity to refuse health care to these people! I can see ol' Rick Perry finally will lose his unbeaten streak out in TX
SeekingSanity
SeekingInsanity, you are insane. Where do you see hatred fro Obama on my post? Prove it. Just because I believe his policies and ideology are not good for this Country? One thing I cna tell you is that I'm not as blind of in love with the President or any President as you are.
I watched a report on CNBC last night titled "Greek Tragedy".
When they couldn't borrow any more the Greek Government had to rely solely on current revenues. What is our accounts? 2.3T in revenues and 3.8T in expenditures.
The cause of the Greek deficit? The Government increased public sector employment to reduce unemployment. Unfortunately it did not generate the tax returns to pay for the increased spending and eventually the borrowed money ran out.
So why would it be any different here? Think of the effect on entitlements and the welfare safety net if we could only spend 2.3T. Didn't the President threaten not to send out SS checks when this could have happened in the debt ceiling debate?
Alan -- TAX EVASION was rampant in some of the European nations. That same culture is brewing here with the far right trying to reduce taxes to nothing.
Alan,
Half truths are half lies, babe. Tax evasion is the NORM in Greece. That is why Greece hit the wall.

RepublicansforObama -
Really, who cares? Romney's offshore bank accounts are not causing the stagnant economy. This is another lame attempt by 0bama to deflect attention away from the economy. Unfortunately, you rubes eat it all up.
This is so deceiving. Investment tax rates are 15% ONLY if the gains realized are long term or qualified dividends. Romney's short term gains or ordinary dividends will be taxed at 35%. I was laid off last month. Trading stocks for short term gains is my only source of income for now (I don't believe in collecting unemployment) and I get taxed at the progressive rate. If Romney realizes short term gains, he will be taxed at 35%.
Heh. Too late for that I think.
@DCIA and Clara
Do they tell you how high the taxes would have to be to meet the spending needs? it's a bit like our President telling us that medicare can be saved in its current form if "the rich like myself simply pay a little more". Well lets look at the figures. The current proposal to increase taxes on the rich (250K+) is projected to net 70B a year, 700B over 10. However, the cost of Medicare is projected to increase by 100B a year, every year, for the next 10 years as the number of retirees come into the system. So how do these numbers balance out? Or is the case of the Greek example? We will have to raise taxes so high to pay for Government spending that tax evasion will become prevalent?
BTW When you buy something from Amazon do you declare that on your tax returns or do you simply evade the sales tax? It's not just the rich (re: John Kerry buying a yacht in RI) who evade taxes it everybody.
BTW Carla specifically what did I lie about, or was this just thrown out there?
.
Clara -
This is true. There was a lot of corruption with tax collection in Greece. But you are missing Alan's point. The more dependent an economy is on government spending (and therefore, the more government revenues are reliant on heavy taxation), the more susceptible it is to recession. This is because during a recession, tax revenues are lower. This accounts for part of the increase in our annual national defecits between Bush and 0bama. The lower revenues lead to increased massive borrowing to sustain the government spending, and debt accumulates rapidly. The point is that if Greece was less dependent on government spending, the tax evasion and recession would have had a lesser effect on its debt and resulting collapse.
This election will not be about Romney (his wealth or his time at Bain). It will be whether America thinks POTUS deserves 4 more years based on his performance so far. Judging by the jobs numbers, and the country's debt I'd say he's "toast."
First off Alan your figures are wrong. I believe it's 850 billion dollars that would come into Treasury. Just because Greece had high tax rates in place doesn't mean anyone paid them. And if you want a man to pay his bills you do not fire him.
Greece also had other problems besides tax evasion. NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. They really were not producing or exporting very well. BTW --- Comparing the United State's economy to Greece's is outlandishly ridiculous!
Concern - you are so predictable and so pathetic. No psychobabble yet today? I'm sure it's coming. And, as you well know, I'm seeking sanity in the GOP but as nutjobs like you prove daily, there is absolutely none.
Obama/Biden 2012
Yet another PERSONAL ATTACK from SeekingSanity ! How do you get by with the stuff others would be suspended for saying ?
"Love" or "Hate" of this President is not the issue. His competence is the issue and $16 trillion in national debt with no budget, no plan and NO CLUE is very important. Obama's record of fiscal irresponsibility will make for a good book ... a rather lengthy book at that.
Well, we've gotten plenty off topic here, but as an Iowan here's what I see--Iowa is politically 2 places, similarly to the way Eastern Pennsylvania behaves entirely differently than Western PA.
The West and Northwest is really more East Nebraska than Western Iowa. It's the home district of Steve King, Michelle Bachmann's BFF and just as Tea-crazy. It isn't that he's fooling anyone either, the people of his district actually DO believe public education and improvements to public roads are a threat to their LIBERTY(!) I know, I grew up there. Like most people who grew up their I left, because there is precious little opportunity in such an intellectually desolate land.
The rest of the state is far more Liberal, educated, and better off financially as well. Even the farmers are more successful. It's where the industry, universities, and largest cities are located.
So there's a real balance between those forces. If the Obama campaign can get Democrats in Eastern Iowa and the population centers to the polls he wins. End of subject. If Romney can manage to depress and supress voter turnout he wins. End of subject. Republicans have worked hard on this and will continue to do so. Republican Secretary of State Matt Schultz of Council Bluffs (Western Iowa) even tried to ram through the ALEC model legislation on voter ID/suppression. Fortunately we have a Democratic Senate and it failed.
So that's Iowa in a snapshot. We'll see what happens.
Alan, specifically:
"...The cause of the Greek deficit? The Government increased public sector employment to reduce unemployment. Unfortunately it did not generate the tax returns to pay for the increased spending and eventually the borrowed money ran out..."
Many, as I documented, believe the Greek government spending WAS 'paid' for - it wasn't COLLECTED due to tax evasion.
and yes, Greece has MANY more problems. and comparing the US economy to Greece is ridiculous. You know me, Alan, I will always call you out on even the smallest of lies or distortions,...because letting them get a foothold is not in the PUBLIC interest.
If voters really used the brains they were born with, instead of doing what the talking heads tell them, the Republican party would have dried up and gone away years ago. The current crop of GOP voters are committed believers in the big lie. The GOP establishment tells voters that tax cuts to the wealthy will lead to more more jobs. The big tax cuts made by George W. Bush and renewed in 2010 have not turned into any more jobs. To hear the GOP tell us, there are even less jobs now than when the cuts were enacted.
If you have any amount of intelligence, do not vote for the GOP.
no joe, no bo, nj "Rasmussen was close, Roy- but SurveyUSA was actually better"
I couldn't find SurveyUSA [polling information for just before the election in 2008, but I noticed that they had a huge error in 2004 - missing by 15.6% in the Bush/Kerry election.
I usually quote Rasmussen for two reasons;
1 - His consistent accuracy on presidential polls over the last two cycles.
2 - He uses 'Likely Voters' in his polls, which avoids the disparity with 'Registered Voters' that typically overstate the Democrat when compared with actual election results (Republicans are just more likely to vote). This overstatement of the Democrat's strength typically runs about 4%, so if you deduct 4% from the other pollsters who use 'Registered Voters', they generally agree with Rasmussen.
The most recent polls from Rasmussen show Romney winning in enough states to get to the magic 270 Electoral Votes, and he's tied or close with another 53 Electoral Votes. One other thing working against Obama is the 'Undecided Voters', which pollsters say typically break for the challenger by anywhere from 70% to 90%. With about 8% undecided, that could add another 2% - 6% to Romney's total.
Of course, it is very early still, and things don't really start to 'stabilize' until after the Conventions.
dirp "If voters really used the brains they were born with, instead of doing what the talking heads tell them, the Republican party would have dried up and gone away years ago."
That's funny, because one of Obama's biggest margins of victory in 2008 was among high school dropouts, where his margin of victory was 63% to McCain's 35% according to exit polls.
By the way - In 2008, those who self identified as Democrats had a 39% to 32% advantage over Republicans (thus short-lived speculation about the 'demise' of the Republican Party), but now it is about 36% for Republicans and 34% for Democrats. My, how things have 'changed'.
It is what Americans ultimately do in the voting booth which reveals what they are really interested in. All of my countless (futile) efforts down through the years to lead the American people in the right direction of real reform and change have all sadly been met with total rejection. The sad truth is that the majority of Americans have never really been interested in any meaningful change despite what they say publicly. What they are really most interested in is the complete vindication of their "End Time" religious faiths, which unfortunately have given most Americans a collective death wish. This is why our once proud nation has consistently continued its fatal down slide for decades already, and is very likely to continue its fatal down slide until it finally ends up on the trash heap of history alongside the former USSR. Sadly, most Americans remain totally seduced and absolutely committed to the "End Time" prophetic fulfillment of their terminal religious belief systems more than anything else. What can I possibly say anymore but have fun, everyone? Goodbye and good luck, you pitiful lemmings! I leave you all to your own devices from here on out. - Rick Carter
This is for all of Americas Carnival Barkers(formerly known as the MSM):
Why is it UnAmerican(as yall reported 4 years ago) to Not wear a $2 American FlagPin(Made in China) & to be a Real American who Hides $$$$$$$$ in overseas accounts?
Occupy SoggyBottom!
When is Mittens going to release his tax returns? He took a $70,000 deduction for his wife's horse (it's a "business expense"); voters deserve to see what other tricks he's pulling.
While Willard & Annie were doping their other dancing horse...
What a couple of animal lovers those two are...
My mother told me at an early age - you can tell plenty about someones character by the way they treat their animals!
LOL too true Feisty
What a hoot!!! Even though Obama has released 11 tax returns and it’s become expected that presidential candidates release returns going back several years, yet Romney refuses. WHAT IS ROMNEY HIDING? That’s the question.
In response to the Romney whackos who want Obama’s Kindergarten transcript.
That ain’t gonna fly Romney supporters! Keep stonewalling. It’ll generate one of those precious debate moments.
WHAT IS ROMNEY HIDING?
Ahh, Rick, KY. Great point.
I remember all that whoopla over a "flag pin" as if the wearing or not wearing of this tiny object proves one is or is not pro-America. Yet much of the media continues to ignore that stashing millions off-shore to avoid taxes says a great deal about one's patriotism. They focus on a $2 flag pin and ignore millions in secret off-shore holdings which, because we don't know, could very well be funding anti-American business practices or who knows what.
Who will ever forget that non-troversey being debated for weeks on end in 2008?
When is Obama going to release his college transcripts? Lets see how the smartest person liberals ever elected president turned out to be the biggest failure to ever sit in the oval office. Of course when Obama hires people like Ray LaHood as transportation secretary. LaHood takes credit for the development of the Lexus Hybrid in the past two years even though it came out in 2004. So it would appear there is just no brain power anywhere to be found in the Obama administration.
The problem with the country is that the people that work for a living are outnumbered by the people that VOTE for a living....
And the problem with Obama is that he doesn't want the half of the country who pay NO taxes (FR libbies.. carrot top, et al) to bear the burden of the other half who aren't paying their fair share!
Romney/Rubio more than ever!
Fourth time wasn't the charm, eh, btb?
Ah, well- Sir Richard Owen will hunt you down again- you'll re-reg- he'll hunt you down again. . .
The Romneys have released all their tax returns. I don't know what sort of bizarre lies you Liberals are trying to propagate. Any interested person can just google it. (But most libs never bother to check the facts, they just spout half-truths and drink more Obama-aid)
Notice how liberals are worried about how much money Romney has, instead of how much money Obama has wasted? Par for the course, and a huge reason America is in the amount of debt we are in.
Feisty......Did Rove tell Romney who he chose to be Romneys VP choice when Rove illegally showed up at the fund raising event? I am sure Romney is anxious to find out who Rove and Norquist are picking for his VP slot.
Michelle Bachmann went for a drive in a Chevy Corvette over the weekend and now she claims she was "Vetted."
Though the article refers to Romney "stumping" in Colorado, he is actually "stumped" in Colorado. In '08 Obama took Colorado by a considerable margin and he will do so again in the 2012 election cycle.
In the interest of full disclosure I spent 18 months working at helping Obama get the nomination and win in Colorado and this election cycle I've just begun to join in on the re-election campaign but over the past six months or so, especially over the last couple of months since it has become apparent the Mitt Romney will be the GOP nominee I've been checking the pulse of Coloradans every where I go and it is abundantly clear that Obama will win Colorado by a substantial margin in the 2012 election cycle. With that said, I cordially invite Romney and his surrogates and supporters to waste all the time and money they care to here in my home states!
Libretards fascination with Romney's taxes are like Obama's penchant for blaming Bush for everything.... neither has any merit....
Actually we know much more about Romney and his past than we do about Obama:
Why would he seal his college records?, where is his wife's racist themed thesis?, why is Barry's social security number for someone born in Conneticut, a state he's never lived in?, where is the real Barry (Barack) Obama's birth certificate! Why hasn't the old liberal media questioned the many controversial passages in his book 'Dreams From my Father', and is Barry still snorting cocaine today, and if so... has he snorted it off the famous desk in the Oval Office? Inquiring minds want to know, but the liberal media's love affair with the mixed blood (not black) Kenyan precludes any real vetting!
Most of the flags we fly on flag poles are made in China ,Vietnam and so on.
Romney 2012
Starsailing,
Is this what you're referring to? lol
What a crock!
They are no longer trying to cover up their cheating..
LouisJ it's people like you got Obama in office, he promise hope and change he promise to have 50,00 green jobs, he promise if you let me spend 800 billion unemployment will be below 8%, he said he cut the depth in half by the end of his first four years. Bottom line if Obama has it right in growing government then Russia would be the most powerful country in the world. So Louis keep voting for a losing system and you will lose your freedoms you enjoy today.
If we've learned anything from Barack Obama these last 3 plus years... it's that he really doesn't care about job creation (except government jobs!), all he really wants to accomplish is to convert the country into a welfare state... and he's succeeding!
All that 'popcorn' feisty brags about drinking.. err eating has been obtained with Obama Bucks, fka food stamps! Yes, there are many unemployed out there that hope Barry succeeds as well, better than a 9 to 5 job anyday, yessireee!!!!
motoriker - do you have a clue how foolish your post is? Romney has released one year of tax returns. He filed an extension for 2011 so won't be releasing those until October. That's it! His father released 10 years but dear Mitts refuses to release his. Maybe it's because of his Swiss bank account... Hm.....
For those of you wanting to see Obama's college transcripts - not required and never has been. But, let's see he graduated from Harvard and headed Harvard Law Review - obviously a dummy - yeah!
Barry Kardashian - and by the way, you sound JUST like a Kardashian, totally stupid - President Obama is ten times the man Romney has ever been and the only one doing coke is obviously you. But, Bush might have hit the sauce when he was in the White House - hard to tell, he always looked tanked.
Obama/Biden 2012
Obama/Biden 2012
ron in colorado
There are 6 Likely Voter polls done in colorado since April 1. Obama's average lead is 3 points. The latest poll shows Obama +4 points. That leaves Colorado in the "Toss-Up" or slight Democrat range.
The Registered voter polls show a potential Double digit win Obama. That says people aren't so excited about Obama in Colorado. If they really liked what he was doing the contest would be over.
Feisty....yeah, that's the event. All that money behind them they thumb their noses at the public and say we are above the law, do you have enough money to try and take us to court for breaking the laws?
We need a president not a king and queen like Rove/Romney.
Vote Obama/Biden 2012
Soros has spent millions and millions of $s in Colorado for several years... in an attempt to socialize a once proud Red State. If you want to discuss 'purchasing of votes' the poster boy is George Soros!
Romney lost to McCain who lost to President Obama. President Obama took out Bin Laden and all the top terrorists and a few pirates to...booty!...Arrrr....aaarrrr.
The community organizer took out Bin Laden.
Romney said he would not pursue getting Bin Laden be cause it cost too much. Then Romney flip flops and said he would have made the same decision that President Obama made.
Romney the flip flopper. As the republicons say, "Everyone should like Romney, he has been on both sides of the issue one time or another."
Romney the flip flopper.....When GM hit the wall and things looked bad because of Bush, Romney says to let GM go bankrupt. Just lose a million jobs in the auto industry. President Obama takes over, gets GM to make a plan, reorganize then he lends a helping hand to a million workers. GM turns around the defeat and a million jobs are saved because President Obama had faith in the American worker. Ol Mittster sees the turn around of GM fate and sees the recovery of GM and claims...he was responsible for the turn around .Not on this planet! The auto workers and the auto business remember who had no plan, who gave up on them, who told them to go to hell and that was Romney! Romney the flip flopper.
Vote Obama/Biden 2012
starsailng ,Like I said before why do you post the same thing ever day you most have to copy from a book.
ROMNEY 2012
It will be fun to hear how Romney the Zombie spins how successful Romneycare is not Obamacare (Affordable Care Act).
My microwave is popping my popcorn as I type.
Of note, during the 80's and the Reagan administration I was an organizer with the 'American Peace Test' (APT) whose focus was an end to nuclear weapons testing and global nuclear disarmament. There was a counter group that called themselves Americans for Nuclear Testing (ANT). One of the demonstrations that APT organized was a march from Vegas 65 miles out to the entrance to the test site, leading the march were a number of flag bearers carrying the flags of the countries that we knw at the time had nuclear weapons including Russia. Upon arrival at the test site we were confronted by the ANTs (Americans for Nuclear Testing) some of who began to shout down the person carrying the Russian flag as being a 'no good unpatriotic commie' they apparently missed the point that we were protesting not just US nuclear weapons but ALL nuclear weapons. The person carrying the flag of the USSR went over and asked to examine some of the US flags that the ANTS had brought with them. Yes, each and every one was made somewhere other than in the USA and mostly in China, HOWEVER, each and every flag that the folks with the American Peace Test were carrying including the flags of the USSR and China were all made in the good old USA!
I noticed the same thing from starsailing.... a repetitive cut and paster following in the footsteps of carrot top and beaver from chi. Gotta love the libbies... how precious they can be!
Mikey...because your head explodes......I add a few twist and turns to them......glad you follow them!!!!!
Georgie...so you admit to being an admirer of Carrot top huh? Get a life......The Mister Kotter look went out long ago.
According to Rasmussen, the most accurate pollster in the presidential elections of 2004 and 2008, Romney is slightly ahead in WI, OH, IA and is now even ahead in FL.
One other point - Pollsters say that 'Undecided Voters' typically go to the challenger by anywhere from 70% to 90% (I guess they figure 'Let's try something new'). So the approximately 8% of 'Undecided Voters' could add another 3% to 7% to Romney's numbers.
lol, the 'community organizer' had to be pressured to 'take out Bin Laden'! And the credit for that event starts with Bush's security protocols (barry kept in place) and ends with Navy Seal Team 6. But we can let Barry get political mileage out of it though.. he needs something positive to brag about during his abysmal administration!
starsailing? I agree with the others... your posts are a continuous rehash of other bloggers thoughts... But you have every right to do so.. thanks to the US Constitution which Barry likes to trample on in pursuit of socialism!
I can't understand why this post was collapsed above! It is true and presents valid questions? Perhaps it was collapsed because I used the word 'Libretards'.... If so, please accept my apologies!
After reading some of these comments here, and on other blogs, I truly believe there are some people who could watch, first hand, as Obama pulled out a gun & killed someone in cold blood, and would then find a reason to excuse his actions. I don't have room to state everything I'd like to but I'll throw out a few examples. People worry more about how Romney spends HIS money than how Obama spends OURS. All the Obama camp can campaign on it trashing the opponent. He has nothing positive he can use; Stimulus Programs, failed; Economy/unemployment, worse; Foreign Affairs, became a joke; and the list goes on. He started 4 years ago knowing nothing about running a country and he still knows nothing. Now if he campaigned on the lies he's told...he'd have no time to talk trash about anyone. Oh, BTW, those of you talking trash about a little $2.00 pin? Let me tell you something, it may be a piece of junk to you, but it is a symbol of what America is but it's fading. America used to be proud, a country everyone came to for a better life. If a person worked hard and used his money wisely, he had the opportunity to make something of his life, even become wealthy if he wanted. People were proud, they overcame hardships, worked hard & stood united. What do we have now? Only a shadow of what America was.
Meredith Gregory
You didn't hear about Obama killing Bin Laden? Duh! he did it all by himself. Even flew all three helicopters at once.
And likewise, Meredith
There are those who could watch him born from the birth canal in a US hospital and then claim he was a foreigner,...
Irrational hatred for someone you've never met and who is NOTHING like the caricature you've painted of him is equally distasteful.
Thank you, Clara. You said it better than I ever could...
So I've come up with a money making idea...similar to a pop-up blocker on your internet browser. However, this would work with your television and would block all political ads. It would be a monthly subscription service and the market would be swing states. :-)
Ok...I'm kidding, but the volume of ads already down here in Florida is mind boggling!!! I can't watch anything with at least 2 political ads per commercial break! My kids are becoming cynical at way too early an age!! :-(
Ha! That's the best idea I've heard in a while Frank "Grimey" Grimes! Cloud funding can help and I'd bet you have a lot of people interested in investing.
Frank, you're too late to the Party. The technology is already there forya to minimize your access or listening Pleasure to Political Ads.
It's calle a Remote & Most versions have a MUTE button !
You Betcha!
Occupy SoggyBottom!
Actually, Frank I'm enjoying the ads, at least, the ones we are seeing up here.
The Republicans run clips of President Obama speaking, and I always enjoy that. It just reminds me how Obama kept our hopes up during the depths of the financial crisis.
I saw a Democratic ad last night that talked about Bain's reputation as "pioneers of out-sourcing" and ended with "Romney: he's not the solution. He's the problem." That is SO TRUE!
Chances are people want to watch the negative ads or they'd turn them off when they came on. People you've got a button on your remote to change channels when ever one of those negative ads comes on, or don't come on here and whine about all the negative ads. I change channels every time a political ad comes on.
LOL...I hear ya Rick. But sometimes that remote control is just outta reach...and I don't feel like moving 3 feet to pick it up and push buttons!!! ;-)
Instead, the Grimey3000 will do the work for you. The user will get to pre-select between several screen shots (Caribbean beaches, National Parks, etc) along with background music types. Just think, instead of that black and white screen filled with ominous music and quotes taken out of context, your tv instantly shows the Caribbean with some steel drum music playing. :-)
(Before someone flags me for advertising, the SARCASM flag is firmly in the ON position).
Amy...the ads down here are just all negative and frankly after a while it gets a bit depressing...especially when I think that it is ONLY JULY!! Can I send my ads up to Maine?? :-)
Mo...I know I know. But last night I was really comfortable on the couch and that dang remote was outta reach. ;-)
To all those small businesses that are in this tax hike bracket, just start laying off people to protect yourself from this job killing President. I hope the small business do lay off workers just to prove to this liar and flip flopper Obama that he doesn't know what the hell he is doing. Obama never ran a business or to hire, he's a inexperience fool.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's lots of ads in Iowa, too. Most of the ones I see are positive Obama ads and some that the media refers to as "negative" but not attack ads. I have only seen one positive ad from the Romney campaign but I've seen dozens of negative ones; lately it's been the faux outrage, taken out of context, Hillary Clinton quote ad which I find to be a weird hodge podge of nothing relevant to either side. The ending makes me laugh because it makes Mitt sound silly--Hillary saying "shame on you, Barack Obama" and then immediately followed by "I'm Mitt Romney and I approve this message."
BBYanko, you mean those small businesses like Koch Industries, Coors, etc? There are approximately 3% of small businesses that will be impacted by the tax hike and most of those are the multi-million dollar "small" businesses that are anything but Mom and Pops.
Maybe the Democratic machine should run an ad of Denise Rich renouncing her citizenship to save millions in taxes. Whoops that won't work, Democrats continually say only Republicans are against paying their fair share.
Romney...the pitiful last. All through the republican nomination process there was always someone ahead of Romney. Bachmann, Cain, Newtster, Perry, Santorum, etc. All of them had leads over Romney despite their cheating on their wives, being a lying looney, and forgetting what the hell they were talking about. Down to nothing but Mittster the republican party has no choice left. No one left but the guy who was losing to all the Loonies. Now repubs try to hold up Mitt, (who lost to McCain who lost to Obama)as their golden boy. He is their golden boy all right, gold in his offshore accounts that he is hiding from the public. Romney, the pitiful last, for a worse tomorrow today.
Obama/Biden 2012
Rick - no one cares about Denise Rich. She's barely been in the states for the last decade, spending most of her time with her Australian boyfriend. No loss there. But apparently you are fixated on her. She gave up her citizenship because she is never here, so why pay taxes?
I hear Michelle keeps pretty tight reigns on Barack.
DB Akron - what an utterly asinine post! But, purely Republican. That the best ya got?
BBYANKO-
Sure, all of you smart business owners - layoff employees and reduce your revenue and profits!
Last time I checked we had a progressive tax system where the MARGINAL tax rate is only levied on the INCREMENTAL income - not your entire income. So the repeal of the Bush taxes would only impact the incremental amount of income that exceeded $250,000. Your first $250,000 in income would still be taxed at the lower Bush rates.
Since this marginal tax rate is much less than 100% the business owners still get to keep most of the additional profit - why would you sacrifice profit to avoid paying tax on the additional profit?
Small business owners are too smart to cut off their nose to spite their face!
DB....I would let Michelle Obama keep tight reins on me! Brains and beauty....The president is a lucky guy!
How does Romney spend those gazillions of dollars?.....Here is an example of his decision making.
Romney was wondering what to do with his dog when the family had to go on a long drive....He looked at the dog and said....Well doggy poo, where should I put you on this long drive?.......The dog looked up at him, wagged his tail and went....ROOF....ROOF...........and the rest is history. Now you know how he makes his decisions.
Romney the gazillionaire could have bought another car, could have rented a car, could have hired a dog kennel company to transport the dog...nope.....he took the advice from his dog.
Is this the man you want to answer the red phone at 3 a.m....Is this the man you want in charge of the economy? Hiding assets in offshore accounts?
...Scooby Romney flip flop? Roh Roh!
Michelle Bachman just moved into a new home on the floor above a bank. Now she claims her assets over a million dollars!
It will be fun to hear how Romney the Zombie spins how successful Romneycare is not Obamacare (Affordable Care Act).
My microwave is popping my popcorn as I type.
Seeking Sanity - and yours chasing after the fidelity of Republicans isn't asinine?
Oprah- banned by Michelle -isn't that stupid to ban one of Obama's big supporter?
DB - what the heck are you talking about? Where do you get your "facts?" My guess is one of those shoddy magazines at the checkout stands? You really need to aim a little higher with your literary goals.
But, you're definitely a Republican!
DB - I know you think you are always right but I don't think Michelle "banned" Oprah. I've always thought that Oprah needed to get over herself. Perhaps Michelle thought so, too.
Elect the fixer Mitt Romney President in November for the sake of this great country. We can no longer afford a President who thinks taxing job creators is a good thing for the economy.
CB - Dream. Dream, Dream, Dream (Everly Brothers). Sorry fella, I just don't think that is going to happen, Mitt is his own worst enemy, that and his religion.
If lowering taxes on the wealthy creates jobs, where are the jobs? Seems to me the recession happened after the Bush tax cuts were passed.
Ryan:
The AHA is killing jobs my friend. Also a President that speech after speech proves he hates, hates, hates business.
Yeah Mitt's motto: Day One Bible Done
The Mormon Church has bragged the Book of Mormon is “the most correct book on the face of the earth”. Those words were uttered for the first time by none other than Joseph Smith himself on Sunday, October 28, 1841.
“I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.”
Re-elect Barak Obama President in November for the sake of this great country. We can not afford a President who thinks taking more money from the middle class so that rich people can stash it overseas creates jobs.
Examples? What about before the AHA? Did it preemptively kill all those jobs in late 08?
Dandy: Nope the housing bubble was the cause of most the job losses. And that mostly on Barney Frank and Bill Clinton. Sucka.
Sorry Citizen Bain but the blame lies with the GREED of those on WALL STREET. They couldn't help themselves.
Just because alcohol is legal doesn't mean you can drink and drive and kill someone.
CitizenBain, how many jobs did those massive tax cuts benefiting the wealthy "job creators" create during the Bush 43 years? 3 million, yep, a palty 3 million and those disappeared along with millions more when the Bush 43 economic policies collapsed the global economy to a near depression. Please note Bill Clinton's tax hikes created 23 million jobs.
Contrary to the GOP talking points, businesses do not create jobs because of tax rates. They create jobs due to middle class demand for the products they make. If the middle class can't afford the products, it doesn't matter what those business tax rates are. Econ 101, a course the conservatives obviously failed in high school and/or college.
The Housing bubble was caused, not by legislation, but by years of artificially low interest rates put in place by, wait for it, Republican appointed Alan Greenspan. These low interest rates added to the ever-increasing cost of homes. Do not blame the legislation but blame the banks and mortgage companies for failing to properly check out those applying for the loans. Also blame realtors who convinced people to buy homes they could not afford because the interest rates were so low and, hey, the price of homes never goes down. There's plenty of blame to go around and much of it belongs to Greenspan, Wall Street and derivatives of thousands of home mortgages and risky bets.
Republicans are doing their best to make sure the young, the poor, and the elderly don't vote by setting up voter suppression laws all over the country. Students going to college will have a hard time voting and getting registered because ALEC set up this idea for republicans to put in place. Republican leaders pronounce the less voters there are, the better chance republicans have a chance to win.
Meanwhile, Romney and repubs have no plan...except to take the economy down as they pledged.
The first economic plan from the republicans ...was to blow up the economy so president Obama would not have a second term. Newt said it was the first seed sown for the 2012 election. 14-15 republicans secretly met the dat after Obama took office to pledge to vote against every bill that would help the economy recover. They pledged this saying they wanted him to be a one term president. They pledged to take the economy down just to destroy the presidents plans for recovery. Bin Laden wrote down the same plan and executed 911 to take the economy down to destroy the nation. These repubs, Ryan, Cantor, DeMint, and Gingrich pledged to act like the Taliban, to act like the insurgents do,(their own actual words) to prevent President Obama from a second term. Acting like the supreme terrorist of all time Bin Laden. Traitors. Deliberately sabotaging the recovery. Ref Richard draper new book.
Ryan repub Plan...Kills socoial security and medicare. Repubs want to destroy the Post Office and privatize that also.......Take down America and give more tax breaks to the rich 1%. Romney for a worse tomorrow today!.
Vote President Obama/Biden 2012
Citizen Bain - you just spout the usual Republican lies. The wealthy have been getting tax breaks for decades - remember Reagan's trickle down programs - never once created jobs and it still isn't. It is the standard GOP lie that only idiots believe.
Obama/Biden 2012
Don't Carry it all
75% of home loans were made by banks (formerly called mortgage companies). Their money comes from the FHA allowance for closing costs to which traditional banks would lose $2,000 - $4,000. They made most of the loans and then sell them so they can make more loans and make more money. Those mortgages are bundled into portofolios and sold as Securities to Other Mortgage Companies, Traditional Banks, Investment Brokers, and Insurance investors. As some of these companies found out they were had, they either sat on them hoping losses would not be so bad, insured them, and others re-sold the loans.
Regulators wanted to track where the loan were going, but that required an act of Congress. Instead of giving Regulators the necessary investigative powers, congress, led by the minority party Democrats with some flunky Repubicans threatened the Regulators with investigations and blocked any further bills granting such powers.
The reason there are no lawsuits for these bad loans is because they meet federal requirements and Government agency pressure to make more low-income loans. An all-powerful government is a bigger problem than wall street. Unloading the loans became about survival, not stealing others money.
The 1% are not job creators. The 1% take capital out of the market and park it in offshore accounts. Corporations are sitting on 2 trillion dollars of cash. The country is awash in cash. Why aren't they hiring people and creating jobs? Because they do not create jobs, demand creates jobs. The governments, Federal, State, and local need to spend money on infrastructure in order to put money into people's pockets so they can spend it and create demand for products which in turn creates jobs.
The middle class creates jobs when they spend money. The middle class are the job creators.
Jody, you are using net jobs instead of created jobs. There were 6 million jobs in 2 years. 3 million were lost in 2008 when the housing market and finance crumbled.
Tax cuts work, giving mortgages to people who cannot afford them will crash the system every time it is tried.
This tax cut being continued is only going to continuing the status quo and not improve the job market. Stopping the tax cuts will cause the job market to contract. Republicans know this and have said this, and I think you know too, you just don't like the policy and prefer to demagogue it.
Romney says...corporations are people.......Birthers should be all over this one...Why aren't the birthers asking corporations for a birth certificate for a corporation? We need to protect the country from Citizens United which allows foreigners to buy an American republican politician. ...Republicans allowing Foreigners to buy the republican candidate of their choice. Meanwhile, real Americans were dying and getting wounded In Iraq fake WMD war. Did a corporation get blown up by IED? Did a corporation get wounded, or serve 3 terms in Iraq? Did a corporation come home in a coffin?
Don't forget ever what Bush/Cheney/ repubs did to economy and to our soldiers. Romney wants to do it all over again.
Corporations are NOT PEOPLE! Vote President Obama/Biden 2012
Interesting re-write and summation of the housing bubble which is only about 10% true and 90% false. Folks, research the shadow banking and the mortgage crisis rather than relying upon someones selective memory that leaps to entirely incorrect conclusions.
starsailing - Families are people; political parties are people, neighborhoods are people, sports teams are people; corporations are people. Clouds are not people; mountain ranges are not people. Get it?
Deliberately pretending to misunderstand is just a stupid grade school ploy!
As late as last week internal polling by both parties suggests the President holding a commanding lead in the electoral count. Watch the republicans try to twist the ACA around to the appearance of their idea. Don't yet know what they'll do about their stance on "womens rights and abortion". Again, the President needs to continue his "tax revision stance", and continue pounding the hell outta Romney and the republicans over their failure to come up with any job creating measures. There's another big one He should hold, shedding implication along now and then, until latter part of September, or early October. Another thing too, Romney hasn't explained his tax records, and probably won't. Romney and the republicans are weighted down with way too many candles shy of wicks, while accusing the democrats of wetting both theirs and the countries matches. Meantime, all the republicans have is their usual "blowfly infested bullsh^t.
LOL, Mac. You are right, by this time next year they will be reclaiming their idea of mandates and anything else that produces positive results.
Mac - As of this week, the polls show: Obama: 252, Romney: 191, Tossup: 95. Back in May, the numbers were: Obama: 299, Romney: 191, Tossup: 48.
All of which seems to support the contention that Romney isn't gaining so much as Obama is losing, and that the situation is still very volatile. To keep that trend going I think that Romney needs to focus more on Obama's failed presidency than his own personal success. A large portion of the electorate seems to be irritated by the personal success of others.
LOL! And yet another brilliant mind that thinks the recession was completely caused by Barney Frank.
Go Google the following terms and get a clue...
Repeal of Glass & Steghall
Increased bank leverage limits
Banking Derivatives
Credit Default Swaps
Kannin; You might want to take a look at another link here on MSNBC appearing right now. Too, I don't blame folks for being irritated by the large amount of acquired loot held by a known thief.
Iowa & Colorado. Nice to know, Iowa still matters despite all the media spin during the GOP caucus. While the media focuses on two states that are referred to as "purple", I always find it amusing to see how different the media chatter is about Iowa AFTER the caucus compare to BEFORE. President Obama will be in Cedar Rapids today. The Iowa papers seem fascinated by how often he or the First Lady or VP Biden have visited this year. Nothing like reading the Republican and Democratic first thing this morning to start the day; makes one a bit dizzy though.
The Hamptons. We know that both parties hold fundraisers and often hold what most of us find to be unimaginable per plate prices. It's politics and we accept that candidates must raise outrageous sums of money. That said, Romney's three lavish fundraisers this past weekend in The Hamptons were a snapshot into who he is. Lunch at $25K, dinner for two at $75K.
Romney always seems uncomfortable sitting at local diner or local eatery tables talking to the middle class. We all remember his criticizing the cookies offered to him during a campaign stop with regular people. They were from a well-respected Pennsylvania bakery and considered the best yet Romney's lack of manners turned it into "Cookie-Gate". Romney is most comfortable with people he thinks are his equals. Fair or unfair, that is the truth about Mitt Romney. There have been plenty of wealthy presidential candidates who may not have hobnobbed with the middle class but most like FDR, LBJ, JFK, Reagan were able to connect to the middle class. Romney simply cannot because, fair or unfair, I don't think he likes people who aren't like him--he speaks about them as if they are inanimate objects, "we don't need more police officers, more teachers, more fire fighters".
When reporters interviewed a few of The Hampton's guests or were asked questions (lady thought the reporter was a traffic director) as they drove into or out of the various estates, we read comments about "where's the VIP entrance; we're VIP's?, "common people" like baby sitters and "nails ladies", etc. The arrogance shown by these people reflects on Mitt Romney, no matter how one tries to spin it. Republican Ron Christie did his best last night to claim it isn't arrogance but anyone who refers to those with less as "common people" is just arrogant. In the United States we don't have Royalty so the term "common people" suggests "commoners", those not entitled.
Mitt Romney, fair or unfair, shows us everyday that he thinks of himself as "royalty". The GOP talks about democrats being elitist. Typical GOP, call the other side what you are. Romney is the perfect picture of "elitist" because he thinks he is above the rest whether it is his failure to release tax returns or his millions stashed off-shore--he doesn't have to play by the same rule as other presidential candidates, including his own father. His three fundraisers in The Hamptons are not uncommon to both parties but in Romney's case, they merely proved and reinforced the nagging perception of voters about who Romney is and who his policies will benefit. It isn't the "baby sitters" and "nails ladies".
Just wait until Willard gets to Israel & brings us "Bagel-Gate"!
OHHH the shame...!!!
You desperately need to get a job.
"Bagel Gate"?
OHHH the lame...!!!
Knowing Mitt-- when in Israel he will ask for a bacon cheeseburger and order of pork rinds....
Whereas Odumbo will just ask them to relinquish their borders again in favor of the Palestinians. What a moron.
Right on the mark Jody and Feisty
Knowing Mitt-- when in Israel he will ask for a bacon cheeseburger and order of pork rinds....
I can hear Mitt now: "Nice little country you have here. The trees are almost the right height. A bit scrubby, but that's OK. You didn't roll these grape leaves yourself did you? You opened a can of them, I bet, ha ha. Hey, wanna pose for a picture with me? Don't grab my butt!"
I have a job...Thanks!
What's your excuse for trolling around here?
Jody,
Wow, when you think of who is calling who "elitist"...
Romney just had a campaign bash actually, physically on the Koch Brothers estate - for how much a plate? When 95% of income growth has gone to the top 1% in our country, and the Kochs got the Kochiest share!!
And all the while, Mitt Romney is receiving $57,000 per day from his nefarious BAIN dealings.
That's OK....Obama will immediately apologize!
Gee, Jody- all of that, and the race is still tied.
ABC/WaPo is out, with the race tied 47-47. Must the the Bain attack ads effect- in May, they had the race 49 Obama, 46 Romney- still, technically, a tie.
Of course, in April, they had Obama ahead by seven points-Obama 51, Romney 44.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/general_election_romney_vs_obama-1171.html
If you look at their accuracy rate during the midterm races, you'll need to read the whole little book of Obama speeches to re-center.
Obama is going to lose by a bigger margin than Carter- the other savior of the republican party.
joe thomas, sorry, fella, I worked from the time I was 18 and retired nearly four years ago because I could. And you know what, this liberal is doing just fine, thank you very much. Words of wisdom, joe thomas--NEVER ASSUME. I could tell you that you are in desparate need of a job or doesn't the hypocrisy of you posting as a conservative complaining about liberals posting register?
dal, thanks.
Paul S, Amy, glad I wasn't drinking coffee just now! Perfect.
President Eisenhower warned the future about republicans who who try and destroy the country wrapping themselves up in the flag and carrying a bible.
Repubs plan on war on women's right. Outlaw birth control, sex only for married couples, closing Planned parenthood where millions of women get healthcare. Then repubs preach less government while they create more bills restricting rights and taking away the right to vote for millions.
Repubs voted for years against healthcare for the 911 first responders, but always did photo ops with firemen every chance they could screaming remember 911. They voted ...against ...healthcare for fiest responders until John Stewart exposed the votes against those responders who were dying because of the 911 help they gave. The next day the repubs then finally voted to give them healthcare. They can no longer wrap themselves in the flag with first responders of 911.
While the party of NO will have their fake vote again repealing the Heath care Law, insurance companies across the nation will be sending rebates to consumers and employers by August 1. These insurance companies who spent more than 20% in administrative costs must refund to policy holders. The new law requires 80% of premiums collected must be used to pay for patient claims.
http://www.healthcare.gov/law/resources/reports/mlr-rebates06212012a.html
Keeping the insurance companies honest ....
Check out your state and the insurance companies invovled on the link provided.
We now have a government that says how much a company can make. That's not America my friend.
CB - it is not American or ethical for a company to take big tax breaks and pass them on to the head of the company while laying off workers and shipping jobs overseas, now is it? That is all Mitt is about, that and converting you to his Mormanism.
Citizen,
Who is your heath insurance provider?
You are willing to let your insurance company pay what percentage of your premium on your care?
20, 40, or 80%?
BTW, in MN most insurance companies are NON PROFIT, They spend 91% of preminums on claims. This part of the Law was written by Senator Al Franken ,based on the MN model.
And what state do you live in? I hope to God it is not Texas.
My friend, CitizenBain... We now have a government that doesn't believe any 'industry' should get rich off the pain and suffering of their citizens... Insurance companies will still make money...
Heck Romney was always for government run insurance
Romney boasted that Congress and the President could learn a lot about health care reform from his Massachusetts plan during an interview with CNN in 2009, "I think there are a number of features in the Massachusetts plan that could inform Washington on ways to improve health care for all Americans," he said "The fact that we were able to get people insured without a government option is a model I think they can learn from."
Union Baby:
Please learn to spell Mormon and stop being a bigot.
Northstar:
Humana 1 is the answer. I pay $380 per month for a family of 5 and we have a Rx benefit with $4 generic co-pays, free preventive office visits and the rest we pay out of pocket, with a $7,000 family deductible.
Citizen Bain -- That would be employer provided, right?
Nope. I'm self employed.
That's so nice you get a write off on your taxes. Government help.
Citizen,
If Humana 1 spent more than 20% on administrative cost, you will recieve a check.
You will also be able to go to the exchanges in 2014 an compare insurance plans for your family. Maybe you will find one that has a deductible that is less than $7,000. a year.
Don't Carry: Did I say something rude to you for you to talk to me that way? Sorry if I did. Government help to keep the money I earned. I think not.
The point is NORTHSTAR, it fits my current situation. I'm SURE the exchanges will cost me much more because my current plan does not meet the AHA "standards" so, in the America we live in now I lose my choice of Health Care plan for a bill that we needed to pass before we can know what's in it.
BTW: I need to know Northstar, Did Nancy Pelosi saying that bug you in any way? Given the massiveness of the subject?
The GOP House is also preparing to vote on another Washington D. C. abortion ban bill. Add that to the second vote to repeal ObamNeyCare and one must ask, "where are the jobs, Speaker Boehner, Teapublicans?" You promised voters in 2010 that you would focus on jobs but so far, all you have focused on is anti-women's reproductive rights, guns, legislation to declare "In God We Trust" our motto again--even though it was reiterating existing declarations stating same, killing medicare as we know it, voting on the Ryan "marvelous" per Mitt budget, nearly shutting down Government a few times, causing the USA credit rating to drop, and naming post offices.
Oh, and most importantly of all, block and obstruct any and all Obama legislation that would improve the economy because--well, the GOPTP's goal is to defeat him and to heck with the country and the American people. We know because they met over dinner January 20, 2009, and that blowing up the country's economy was collateral damage because defeating President Obama was their #1 Goal. Real, stand up bunch, those GOPTPers.
Citizen Bain, FYI, it is the ACA-- Affordable Care Act--not the AHA.
Romney has NO PLAN whatsoever other than saying he would do away with Planned Parenthood where women get health care on quite a number of health issues. Romney declared WAR on Women with this comment joining the republican WAR on Women theme. The only other plan Romney has is supporting the Ryan plan. Let's take a look at the Ryan plan.
From: dpcc.sen.gov Romney supports this disaster Ryan plan.
Republicans have claimed that their tax plan would renew the expiring Bush tax cuts and reduce tax rates even further without increasing the deficit, all by getting rid of unspecified "loopholes" in the tax code. But a new analysis by the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) shows that Republican math simply doesn't add up. The new JEC report shows that the Republican tax plan would actually necessitate a $1,300 tax increase on average middle-class families to pay for a tax cut of over $285,000 for each millionaire.
The Republican tax plan would cost a total of $10 trillion - $5.4 trillion to extend the expiring Bush tax cuts, and according to the Tax Policy Center an additional $4.6 trillion to lower the top tax rate to 25%. Republicans have refused to name any of the specific "loopholes" they would repeal to cover the huge price tag of lowering taxes on the rich, and the JEC report explains why. In order to make their tax plan revenue neutral, Republicans would have to eliminate nearly every deduction and credit in the tax code, including those that mainly benefit middle-class families.
JEC's report shows that because Republicans would do away with middle class deductions, even with lower tax rates the Republican plan would amount to a net middle class tax increase.
The American people overwhelmingly oppose giving millionaires more tax breaks at the expense of the middle class. Republicans should work with Democrats to pay down our deficit in a balanced way that will create jobs here in America and ask the wealthiest to pay their fair share again.
Citizen Bain -- Just trying to keep you honest Citizen. Ha!
I go to the VA for my health care I do not have to pay a dime. But that will come to an end if Obama gets another four years.
Romney2012
mike ritter - that's just an ignorant lie. President Obama has done more for veterans than any other President. He has increased VA benefits - even when McCain voted against increasing them. You really need to get a clue because it is clear you don't know what's going on.
Obama/Biden 2012
Hey Citizen Bain,
You do realize this ...
was part of the AHA don't you????
Is Mike admitting to taking Government Handouts?
You don't see that everyday. Thank you for your service, Mike. and umm, you are wrong about your Veteran benefits changing under AHA.
Mr. Ritter, my son works for the Office of the Inspector General. Rush gave you a load of lies on that one. Your Veterans benefits, provided by the Government you seem to despise, will not change.
You know which states are key battlegrounds? ALL OF THEM! We're all targets of a tyrannical demagogue who has set out to kill the middle class and whittle us down to nothing. If you haven't paid attention these past three and a half years you'll never get it. Romney is no media darling but he IS an experienced businessman and knows how the economy works. If you're either Conservative or independent-OR a frustrated Democrat- do NOT let this country fall further into the abyss these next four years. We need to heal and recover. Get out and cast your ballot for you, your family and your country. It's the least we can do to help save ourselves, God willing. No more Obama.
Romney is a putz.
Obama is a Muslim
Joe Thomas - Do you really want to go there this election season? I think not - your boy is a Morman - not much difference in the two religions if you ask me - and yes, I attended David Lipscomb in Nashville - where they teach you the Bible like a history book, and other religions in defense of our Christianity. I happen to think the President is a Christian, and I happen to know Mitt is a Morman - which is a cult to the rest of the Christian world.
No more Repugnants - ever! No more greed - ever! We the working middle class are tired of working to make some elite rich person richer!
Obama is NOT a Muslim and just repeating it so many time WILL NOT MAKE IT SO!
The only targets are those who would rather live free and poor rather than a liberal who would rather live poor without having to earn it because it was promised by the government.Personal responsibility has taken a backseat to the "we know whats best for you and we will take care of you" liberal message of big government Democrats.
I suppose you can prove he is not a MUslime
Obama is a big government, pandering, idiot, liar, socialist. Not necessarily in that order. It just depends what day it is.
So WHAT if he was?
Come on Joey - show us what you got under your sheet!
Well lets see how the Mormon thing works....
1 Nephi 12:23 And it came to pass that I beheld, after they had dwindled in unbelief they became a dark, and loathsome, and a filthy people, full of idleness and all manner of abominations. (Joe Smith, Mormon Founder, calls dark skinned people ugly, filthy, lazy, and perverts.)
Dal: You should probably read the whole book and then make comments on it. Posting one verse is a very deceiving way to make a point. You know who else is deceiving???? Could it be SATIN?
CB - you still can't defend the fact that Bubba and the SBC are never going to support a Morman, you know this and so do I.
The Southern states will go Romney. There is no poll showing otherwise. And it's M-o-r-m-O-n.
Citizen - all the polls in the world don't mean a thing until the votes are counted. As a former North Carolinian I can tell you, when push comes to shove, the gold old boys will just stay home instead of pulling the lever for a Mormon. Reality hurts but it's a fact.
Obama/Biden 2012
Frankly the religious beliefs of the president don't matter. We are voting for a secular office not for Pope or Bishop.
Citizen Bain, Joe Thomas, and Rapco please offer up documented (empirical) proof that Obama is a Socialist, Muslim, or any of the other bad things you say about him. OPINIONS are like navels, everybody has one. You are entitled (I know you hate that word) to YOUR opinion and others are entitled to theirs.
ahh, lol
CitizenBain, you made a funny! Feisty, is this sheet Satin or is it Cotton? Inquiring minds want to know!
And yes, joe thomas, anyone using the term MUslime is at best a bigot and probably a racist so the sheet reference is totally "Inbounds".
Adler - they have NO proof of anything - they just like the words because they know those particular words scare the low information voters the GOP is pandering to - their base. People of intelligence know there is not a word of truth in their claims. Spouting those words shows their ignorance and desperation. They can't say good things about Romney - there is nothing good to say. So they try to scare the ignorant by throwing out words. It's truly pathetic they have to stoop this low.
Obama/Biden 2012
Citizen - I can't wait to read your hero worshiping comments about Romney after Obama humiliates him in the debates. He is a goofball and he is dangerous. A disastrous combination in GW Bush. Why would anyone want to repeat this?
Even Speaker Bonehead has admitted that there is a good chance that the Grand Old Putzes will lose the House this November. This will stop these ridiculous votes on overturning Obamacare. Enough with the symbolism. How about doing something FOR the American people.
How about you get a job and stop living off the American taxpayer.
I have a job, a very good one. You need to stop sitting by the window waiting for the mailman to bring you your welfare check.
Get a job commieboy
Get a job lying commieboy.
Pat thats because he is aware that half the country is as socialist as Obama is,with a liberal media that will back his socialist agenda and will spin the news in his favor on any subject and sheep like you lap it up.
Socialist..like buying banks...RomBush knows socialism! Repubs love it too.
Obama had his hand in that as well, not to mention buying a car company along with it.Or how about Solendra and another green energy failure here in Colorado that just went belly-up despite hundreds of millions of Obama/taxpayer cash. Did'nt see that on the news did you, well maybe FOX news. You know, the ones that actually report the news not fabricate it.But you sheep cant decide since your lips are planted firmly on Obama's butt and your to busy drinking MSNBC swill.
We will make history in November.
The Kenyan dog-eater will feel the wrath of a neglected electorate. His political deafness and arrogance will lead to a voting tsunami for our beloved Mitt Romney of historic proportions. Think the mid-terms was a victory for the GOP?? Just wait.
Nothing succeeds like success. Romney has been an outstanding success his whole life. Obama has been a dismal failure, and it finally shows. Blaming anything, and anyone else just doesn't float anymore. Silly slogans don't put bread on the table. Only those slobbering, Obama leg-humpers with a bumper-sticker mentality will continue to vote for him. Obama is toast......burnt toast that nobody wants to eat anymore.
Time to ship the loser back to that pit called Chicago. Time for a REAL leader. Time for Mitt Romney in 2012, and Mitt Romney again in 2016.
"Beloved" Mitt Romney. The GOP electorate itself was bending over backwards to find anybody but Mitt Romney. That made me chuckle, thanks.
Romney success...
The state had lost about 158,000 jobs, or 4.7 percent of its workforce, from the first quarter of 2001 to the month Romney took office, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
@Joseph, like your house posessions, car, your life style? If Romney gets in he will sell you out and every thing you have will be gone. You guys are missing the point about the Election, it's not about the Party. It is about this country this time. I like it here in a house. If Romney gets in you will be packing you bags and living in a hut in China with no electricty and heating and cooking with charcoal. And don't forget about the little house out back.
The gop has more independent thinkers than the braindead gimme gimme gimme social dems. All a democrat politician has to do is promise wealth and entitlements from smoebody else's pocket book and they are on board the gravy train. That has been and still is the liberal democrat message.Along with,Republicans want dirty air, water and all the fear and hate mongering they can possibly come up with.
Must have liberal dems as law makers in the house and state senate in Mass. That would go along way in explaining your labor stats dal.
Sorry 6dogs,liberal dems have beaten Romney in selling out the country with the Obama printing press.
Rapco Alan - your ignorance is showing - big time. Your idiotcy is only overshadowed by your eagerness to show it. But, you and Joseph Parent are two of a kind. Share the same quarter of a brain I'll bet!
Obama/Biden 2012
Character assassination seems to be all you have today, Sanity !
I just love how you indirectly declare your mental superiority over everyone with different opinions from yours ! LOL !! Are you really THAT insecure that you have to attack, attack, attack everyone like a pit bull ?
Wow ! You are quite the flamethrower !! Have you had your meds today ?
Obama is finished. And Hillary the world traveler will be grounded.
Your so silly
joe - idiot, the Secretary of State ALWAYS travels to other countries. You truly are a Republican aren't you - not a brain cell in your head!
Obama/Biden 2012
joe, nice to see you can post something other than "get a job," that being said, I think a CIVICS class is in order for you . . . .
Somehow, Harry Reid won in 2010...
Yeah. Running against Sharron Angle (R - The Twilight Zone)!!
Bt thy way, isnt Reid morman? I know he's a moron but I thought a good deal of hate directed at Romney for his religion, seems you socialists dont find him as repulsive as you do Romney on that subject.Could it be because he is a socialist democrat...nah, you dems are not that shallow. Wink wink say no more.
Hey, Tubesteak, I don't find Romney repulsive because of his religion. I find him repulsive because of his ability to speak outta both sides of every bodily orifice that he has!!
Any INTELLIGENT person can see through Romney's phoney plastic smile.
Lying, draft-dodging, money-laundering nutjob with magic underpants does NOT give 2 craps about you and yours.
He will happily march your kids off to die in a war while he and his boys frolic in big piles of (hidden) money.
BEWARE.
What would a Libtard know about intelligence?
Get a job Libtard/turd.
Jerry - we have jobs, what would a 1%er know about anything to do with a job? They only know how to send them overseas, not how to work them or create them, thats for sure. I work in a major medical center, I have yet to meet very many intelligent neocons.
Union You mean 1% like Jeff Immelt and GE, John Kerry Heinz are outsourcing most of their jobs. Romney did not outsource a lot of jobs as most think. Factcheck. org debunked all that. In fact most of Obama's ads are false and misleading according to factcheck.org. Go there and see it yourself. The article is Obama's Outsourcer Overreach. It also shows Governor Romney having less manufacturing jobs leaving MA during his term. More manufacturing jobs left during the administrations prior to Romney and after Romney and those were Democrat administrations. The article also goes on to show Paul Ryans plan for medicare and debunks those charges about throwing granny over the cliff. But obviously liberals will never admit they were wrong on those charges nor will they say anything because they can't.
Romney knows exactly what the best solution is to creating more jobs and improving the economy. Get rid of the POS in the White House.
Have jobs? Get a job Lying Libtard/turd.
Jerry is a rightwing POS making up nonsense..not one cite...Repugatard Jerry
So the champions of education know nothing about intelligence? I understand now why you people hate education.
@jerry40yeardemocrat, by your name you would have to be 58+ years old person. Yet you seam to be a 15 or 16 year old Snotty Nosed Crumb Grabbing Rug Rat.
intelligent neo-cons?
they are new cons (conservatives) in town, for sure.
Just the juxtaposition of the two photos here show the difference in these two men.
Romney's eyes are dead and shark like and his smile actually doesn't stretch his face or leave his mouth.
Obama is grinning from ear to ear with genuine warmth in his eyes.
Way to be in the tank, there, FR! thanks!
Once the debates start Romney is finished for good.
All he has to do is stand their and laugh at Odumbo. The whole country will laugh with him.
Especially since Odumbo will have to speak on his record. Now, that will be hillarious.
Mittens has a record too, going up to Boston in a few weeks for vacation, I'll be talking to the working middle class there and will let you know first hand what they think of ole Mittens, bet he won't even carry the state he was governor of, now that's a hoot, I don't care who you are!
Jerry, spoken like e true republicant. Rethugs will have to stand on thier records too, which they have none. The party of NO is done for awhile.
None, bad, disasterous. If our records were that bad, they would still be better than Odumbo.
Get a job Libtard.
Jerry are you just a fool or what?
@dal, jerry is just a teenager and a Poster Child for why we need to bring back the Draft.
Only if Obama can bring his teleprompter,as liberal as the media is,I am certain they will try and accomodate him.
Grab your bible Jerry. When Romney loses you just might need it. Have a good time with all of your hate by the way.
Please list the accomplishments of the Republicans the past 3.5 years.
And just what accomplishments would you expect with a liberal Democrat in the White House and his lap dog Harry Reid quashing any Republican-passed legislation from the House ??
Remember, Obama said "we won" and "you can come along for the ride, but you 'gotta sit in the back of the bus".
So, riding in the back of the bus was an accomplishment for the GOP?
umm, jim, that's a misquote. but you knew that, right?
"We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back."
No bus, no nefarious Rosa Parks inference, just a man saying the kids who wrecked the car haven't earned the right to have the keys back,...at least until they pay for the damages. bwaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaa
One of the things we have lost as a result of the media exclusively using "horse race" language when discussing polilitcal issues is a clear understanding that the campaign is actually about ideas, not about "two men" or "two sides".
If you pay attention, we are given every outcome as a "win" or "loss" for "Obama" or "Romney", but what is missing from the equation is actually we the real life people.
Have you ever noticed how rare it is for the news media to talk to an actual person about an actual issue? Unless you are the victim of a natural disaster, the news media does not actually care what you have to say.
Each day I hear members of the media who are in no way impacted by the things they are glibly discussing giving their opinions about things as if they are talking about a movie.
Our society has become so shallow and voyeuristic that it seems reality no longer matters, only perception.
So even though the Republicans have been telling the same lies over and over for decades, no one seems to actually care . . . they are simply playing their part . . . telling people what they want to hear . . . what feels good . . . all facts to the contrary be damned.
And sadly, we are reaping the harvest of our own unwillingness to take the time to find the truth . . . everyone has become used to overly simplified, non-reality based drivel . . . reality and truth have fallen out of style . . . the blind leading the blind and blaming those with sight for being in their way . . . for wasting their time by describing what they see . . . Oh say can you see indeed.
I agree, except I'd put the generic word 'politicians' in the place of Republicans. Both parties are guilty of exactly what you stated.
People need to read and experience things for themselves instead of taking news channels and internet blogs as the gospel truth & making important decisions based on the often skewed information found there.
Blue Angel:
I do see your point, but at this time, I simply filled in the blank with the folks who are telling the biggest and most persistent lies . . . the group who tells them so often that it is not even news . . . it is alternate reality . . . and it is officially sanctioned and coming from the very top of the GOP.
Sad but true.
Good post up untill your democrat talking points Nashvillel, whats sad is Nashville thinks he's getting the truth from the liberal media and its the gop telling lies.WRONG.
Rapco Alan:
I am a woman and I don't do talking points.
If you have a specific statement that I made that you disagree with, I'd be happy to have a reality based discussion about it.
Nash-
How long has it been since you have heard ANY reality-based arguments from a Republican on this blog?
Great question TNSEVOL . . . I had a few conversations that I thought were reality based . . . but they always ended with the person in question clinging to their non-reality based belief based on nothing more than preferring the comfort of the lies they have been told their entire life over the discomfort of facing the truth.
GOP Talking Head, Chuck Todd saying this Morning, that the GOP would Repeal ACA, "TODAY".
Chuck Todd should have said that the GOP House would Vote today to Repeal ACA for the 31st time!
Nuttin like Chucky T. trying to be Relevant!
From where I sit, Chucky T, "Sucks" !
You Betcha!
Occupy SoggyBottom!
Guess what Rick,if the american public could vote to repeal it,it would be repealed.Like the dems in congress you don't give a squat what the majority of the people want.
Guess what Rapco if the American public had factual information on the ACA instead of being fed lies and disinformation from the Tea Party group they would vote for it in a landslide.
Remember, the polls that show a majority against the ACA include those who want it to go further.
tnsevol, you are a delusional idiot. Do you really think the tea party has any pull with the vast majority of the American public? The tea party is only relevant because you lib ass clowns cant shut up about them.
theduckster - well isn't that interesting since the GOP crowed long and hard about their little tea partiers and how they were going to take the country back - they meant backwards. And, unfortunately, the TP is still a huge factor in the GOP - look at Santorum, Bachmann, etc. The sickos are still there and taking the party backward more and more each day!
Obama/Biden 2012
The corporate people have us so conditioned, that we accept the results of polls that we nor anyone we know participated in as incontrovertible fact.
One ring to control them all indeed.
What? Maybe NEWS corporations, and they are mostly liberal Nashville. And their polling is slanted in favor of Obama the liberal white knight.
Rapco Alan:
You really are well programmed aren't you? It's all so neat and shiny and pre thought out for ya . . . all you have to do is repeat it.
Great job.
Right back at you liberal in Nashville, you are not saying anything I have not heard a liberal say for 20 years, its always the same bs.The difference being I am telling the truth you are just toeing the liberal line.
Rapco:
You have not been having a conversation with me for 20 years. You are just a standard issue know-it-all jack#@#.
Good luck with that.
I know your a liberal, and thats enough.Throw all the usual liberal insults you want Nashville but it wont change the fact that you want more government in all areas, and your blind faith for a man who has accomplished NOTHING, except for growing the federal government and its role in my life.
Have you considered anger managment Alan? I mean, you go from zero to batsH#+ crazy pretty quick, no? And you enjoy the last word I see . . . I gift it to you, you need a win in your life . . . clearly . . . takes a big man to talk ##$@ on the internets . . . mark me impressed . . . not.
Nashville, the more you talk the more you spew your lib talking points. Just shut your welfare loving ass up.
Dear theduckster:
So, basically, name calling is all you got? Weak.
ComtemptMe:
Talking about penises does not change the simple fact that Republican economic policies don't work. Nice try though.
Nashville - all I've seen from theduckster is name calling - ducks are mortified that he's using their name.
ContemptMe appears to just be another bumbling teenager who's gotten onto his parents computer. It's truly the silly season!
Obama/Biden 2012
ContemptMe - Oh we do know what BatSh*t Crazy is - it's you!
Obama/Biden 2012 by enough to win and that's all that counts!
Back to name calling again, Sanity ? You are arguing on about a 7th grade level at the moment !
Please tell us when Obama will get unemployment down below the 8% level he promised years ago. Where IS that "Summer of Recovery" we have been waiting for ?????
jim- as usual your ignorance is showing. You have no problem with ContemptMe calling names.
So I'm arguing at a 7th grade level? And yet, that's far above you.
You are a pathetic stalker. But, stay on point, it's all you've got.
ContemptMe - you don't have a clue. Your lameness is beyond your comprehension. And anyone who knows how government works knows it would take a lot to repeal the Healthcare law. But then, you don't have a clue about much.
Obama/Biden 2012
follow the link.
Obama Must Go
joe must go
Obama
Yo Momma
Hes GOTS
TO GO!!
And why won't Willlard release ALL his tax returns? What is he hiding?
He's waiting to see all of the liar in cheifs records that he keeps closed with the help of his lawyers. The ones where he claims foreign student status to get federal loans.Don't see that reported either.
Please everyone! Let's just give ContemptMe what he DOESN'T want - Attention. IGNORE HIM.
when I think about Mitt Nitt Witt Romney I think about the Hall & Oates song "Out of Touch".. He looks like a lying used car salesman who tells you it runs great, but when you get down the road it breaks down on you... He will sell his soul for the almighty dollar.. Why would a guy with all this money want to be president of the united states? Power? Kick backs? More money in his pocket!!!!!
To save us from you communists!
joe, your righty's and tea baggers want only one party, I call that communist and not american, votes to stop anything that the president tries to get done, I call that communist and not american, wanting the president of the united states to fail, I call that communist and not american, giving all to the rich and never helping the poor, I call that communist and not american, sending jobs out of this country for just profit and putting our people out on the streets, I call that communist and not american, in short joe I'm calling you a communist and not an american!!!
And I am calling you a liberal idiot trainman. The tea party resembles more of what this country was founded on.I know they dont teach that in school anymore so you probably don't know that and you will not find it here. Your more in tune with the"profressive"view of how this country should be.It's your party of socialists that want the constitution to be a "living"document so as to change it as liberals see fit.
Rapco Alan, The tea party of today does not resemble any of what this country was founded on, Back then they worked together to get things done, Not saying no to everything to cause someone to fail, I hope your happy because all your party has done is to cause this country to fail and if Nitt Witt Romney get in that will mean 4 more years of failure, I also notice your party is fast to call someone an idiot, that might be why most people hate our party. Your dreams of one party seems to be socialist to me and down right unamerican, now go spout your veiws on someone else who wants what you want and may you find that what you speak is nothing like what the real america was founded on. There is a reason for a 3 party system.. Not One as you want....
And when I think of Barack Obama, I think of the wiggles song "fruit salad".
Wait for it......I'm sure any minute now you'll get bombarded with "Mitt won't take his salary because........". He shouldn't. Anyone making $57,000.00 a month (more than most people make in a year) certainly doesn't need the money.
I get a laugh out of a lot of you Obama supporters who are worried about Mitten Romney possibly winning the election. If you look at Romney from a purely political ideology standpoint and his history as a governor you will see that Romney is almost identical to Obama and Obama is almost identical to Bush II - I have asked over and over for people to name one major policy difference between Obama and Bush II and no one can - no one - but rally for your team - go team go - in the end - you are simply choosing the status quo and that is the plan and has been the plan. The last President who tried to buck the system was killed in Dallas, TX
Their foreign policy is completely different. These previous 2 years should b e very apparent to you.
Dandy - please elaborate - please do - but since you can't - good bye
Right on target Kirk, republicans have been trying to placate liberals for so long that they have become practically identical on domestic policy.Bush 2 in particular, his domestic spending on entitlements nearly rivals what Obama has done.I wish there was a REAL conservative left in this country but it appears that they are a thing of the past, since moving left in the political spectrum is the only way to get elected anymore..or so it seems.
Kirk -
President Obama clearly differs from GW Bush on several major policies. Yes, the recession backed Obama in a corner on taxes and the bank bailout, but there are still major differences.
Domestic issues: Obama differed from Bush on the auto bailout, the Lily Ledbetter "fair pay" act, "Don't Ask Don't Tell", Student Loans, and tax policy (payroll tax cuts, etc.)
Foreign Policy: Bush supported torture, Obama ended it.
Bush got us into Iraq, Obama got us out.
Bush "didn't think much" about Osama Bin Laden, Obama okayed his execution.
Bush practiced "cowboy diplomacy", ignored world consensus, and invaded Iraq. Obama relied on the UN to handle Libya with our support.
The Congress of the United States voted for the war in Iraq, while Obama failed to seek approval before attacking Libya with Cruise missiles.
The UN is a sad joke, and they do not control our country.
It will be a battle but Obama will pull out ahead in most states. All polls show this.
Ah, the jobless leftist are carrying the day here on PMSNBC!@ Or perhaps you have a government "job" and have lots of time to post on threads! Nashville and Union City, you should move to a state like IL where you vote would count. Tennessee solid Red State from here on.
Most are handouters, but I suppose a few could be goofing off in governement jobs. Anyway they can suck off the taxpayer works for the Libtards/turds.
A taxpayer voting for Odumbo is like a chicken voting for Col. Sanders.
hot daddy:
My vote counts right here , but I do appreciate your concern. What we are witnessing is the last desperate gasps of corporate cronysim . . . witness the desperate changing of voting and election laws to try and counteract the inevitable demographic and economic realities . . . I am rather enjoying the show . . . and the realization that "yes we can" will soon be followed by a big "no you can't" to our newly created "corporate people".
Daily well planned hiss fits cannot distract or change this most basic fact . . . more reality for ya.
The irony here is you have time to post - so what is it with you? Government worker leech or on welfare?
Farmer in the house due to Obama's drought. Been out since 6 this morning "dandy".
A chicken voting for Col. Sanders.........Jerry,thats priceless lol. Thanks for a good laugh. Reading these liberals is just short of waterboarding and it's nice to see some humor[not liberal] to relieve the stress of reading such liberal nonsense.
Rapco Alan -
If you are stressed by the "liberals" on this site you can always just go away. I promise you no one will miss you.
i love all this numbers nonsense.
O's time is coming to a close and everyone at MSDNC knows it.
the masses were easily fooled the last time... but i doubt the Hope and Change nonsense will play again.
Carter squared is leaving.
Jimmy Carter now comes in black.
Trumps buddy is done...RomBush gone
The only number that matters is 8.2% average unemployment for the first six months of election year. Carter 6.8% Gone. Bush 7.5% Gone.
Road Warrior -
The only number that matters is 270 - as in electoral votes.
Despite being essentially tied with Obama nationally I see no path for Romney to reach that number.
TNSEVOL,
Never under estimate the voter suppression capabilities of the GOP.
Never underestimate the ability of dead people to vote for Democrats, especially in CHICAGO !
Provide proof of your claim jim. Though Illinois is not a factor in the race. The voting will be close to 70% in favor of Obama.
Rod_Father - just like a good Republican jim is falling back on the idiotcy of his party. Blame the dead for voting - because the GOP can't get the living to the polls so we must be doing something wrong. See, they run a dead horse and wonder why no one is willing to vote for him. Ignore jim, he's a typical Republican who has to blame fraud and lies for the failings of his pathetic party.
Obama/Biden 2012
The Great Uniter has selected a group of Americans to take care of. The rest he wants you to share in attacking!!
Shaping up nicely for Obama to get the boot :)! Harry, get ready to take McConnell's spot and Nan, get use to your minority spot! Bah Bye Barry! Love it!
The state had lost about 158,000 jobs, or 4.7 percent of its workforce, from the first quarter of 2001 to the month Romney took office, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nice shape
