A new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney remain in a deadlocked contest, tied at 47% among registered voters.
Having seen Romney in person, I have to say, the guy struck me as not all that bright. I was really surprised not to be impressed with his intellect, considering he has amassed millions as a vulture capitalist. I have as much respect for wealthy people as most Americans do, but, I honestly didn't see a spark of genius in Romney. How do these billionaires acquire so much wealth? I personally know businessmen who work much harder and smarter than Romney who don't earn nearly as much. And these are real "job creators" in my community.
I've said it for a long time, Romney's an idiot. All you have to do is watch his interviews, when Ann is there she takes over because she knows he'll say something stupid. When Ann is not there, he says something stupid. Romney's made his money off his Dad's name and money, and by taking credit for other peoples ideas and success. He's good at putting himself in someone else's success and then taking credit for it. He's just like Trump, not vary bright but good at bragging about how smart and wealthy they are. If you think George Bush was an incompetent President, you haven't seen nothing yet if you elect Romney. This man is as clueless as they come.
Every time i see Romney i think of this slick guy in a cheap powder blue leisure suit. White shoes and and big white belt selling snake oil! " Willard's Wounder Cure" for everything !
Don't kid yourself ..Paris Hilton is a very smart business woman ..She now has i think 7 cologne lines and a fashion and accessories line. Not to mention she owns Dream Weaver the hair extension company
Paris Hilton is worth about $40 million. She has gotten this by her own businesses (e.g. her perfume, CD and shoe line) She would have inherited a lot more from her grandfather as he owns the Hilton family business's, but in 2007 gave 97% of this billion dollar business to a charitable organisation. Out of this 3% she inherited about $10 million because the rest was given to her father.
You're right NoLimitSoldier50. Romney's on the national stage whining about everything under the sun. He can't be seen mingling with the common folks. He thinks he's above that. BTW: He thinks he's above you also.
I'd rather be a rich IDIOT than a broke a$$ Rhodes Scholar anyday.
Well at least you got you wish on part of that NoLimitSoldier50. And that parts capitalized.
This poll is far worse for Obama than the headline results would seem.
The party ID is overwhelmingly pro-Obama. In the Washington Post breakdown they provide the party ID as Democrat: 33, Republican 24 and Independent 36. That is D +9 which outpaces Obama’s D +8 in 2008. For reference, the party ID split in 2004 was exactly even and was D +2 in 2010. This is HUGELY problematic for the President. Despite the dead heat overall result, in addition to the massive oversampling of Democrats, there is plenty of bad news for Obama in the survey:
14-point deficit for Obama versus Romney among Independents
-10 point approve/disapprove deficit on handling of the economy; 89% say the economy is important in their vote choice, 53 percent “extremely” important
The public, by a 7-point margin, 43-36 percent, calls Obama’s handling of the economy a major reason to oppose rather than to support him
Among registered voters who call the economy “extremely” important in their vote choice, Romney leads in vote preference by 54-41 percent
-11 point deficit on health care (with no apparent bump from the Supreme Court ruling)
-14 deficit on immigration (also no apparent bump despite his extra-constitutional immigration ploy)
“wrong track” number is 63% (Bush 41 was 83% at a similar point, Clinton was 70% but with an improving economy and Bush 43 was 55%)
Romney has a 10-point advantage in trust to deal with the deficit; among registered voters who call it extremely important in their choice Obama trails Romney by a vast 25-70 percent
The public by an 11-point margin, 37-26 percent, sees his views on the size and role of government as a major reason to oppose rather than support him
There’s no such net negative in views of Romney’s background buying and restructuring businesses – an even split on whether his Bain Capital background is a major reason to support or oppose him (23-24 percent), with 50 percent saying it makes no difference.
Even with all your numbers keithbacker, you failed to mention the most important question. Just you best guess, who do you think will win the presidential election this year-(Obama) or (the republican candidate)? OBAMA - 58% Romney - 34%
I have no idea where you get your numbers, maybe DNC or ThinkProgress, but they come nowhere close to reality. Polls from this week:
Gallup (7/9) Obama 47%, Romney 45%
Rasmussen (7/10) Romney 47%, Obama 44%
ABC/Washington Post (7/10) Obama 47%, Romney 47%
Washington Times/JZ Analytics (7/10) Romney 43%, Obama 42%
Two polls favor Romney, one poll favors Obama, one poll tie. Nowhere does a poll say Obama by 24%.
Q: Just your best guess, who do you think will win the presidential election this year- (Obama) or (the Republican candidate)?
58% Obama 34% Romney
It's the same poll your buddy Keithbackers touting.
See Bill that's your problem, you fail to read all my post. The poll didn't ask who will you vote for, it ask who do you think will win in November. Even voters who said they'd vote for Romney don't think he will win. You tea people just search around till you find something that makes you feel good, and ignore reality.
I went to his rally in Portland Me. during the primaries. I wanted to judge for myself who Romney is. Call it "personal judgment" but he struck me as not that sharp. For example, one minute he was saying how we have to cut spending, the deficit is awful, etc. they next minute he said we need to grow the army, buy more planes, ships, tanks, weaponry of all kinds and hire more troops. (Of course, Maine has ship building contracts, so he may have been pandering a bit.) There was no segue between the two statements, no connecting thought that would explain how the conflict between wanting to rein in spending and wanting to increase it for Defense. Even I could make that argument if I wanted to, but Romney didn't bother to develop a rational explanation, he didn't even seem to notice the disconnect between the statements. That's why I was unimpressed with his intellectual abilities. I like President Obama, in part, because his arguments are rational.
Good chance BillyBob you haven't really listened to Romney speak, you just support him because he has an R next to his name. Even his wife Ann knows he's not vary bright. That's why in interviews she cuts him off from answering a question and answers it herself. She knows he'll say something stupid, and when she's not there he usually does say something stupid.
Wow...nice of you to be so upfront, "NoLimitSoldier50." So, in order to hold an opinion about which Presidential candidates are "sharp," and which are not, you have to be either a candidate yourself OR a multi-millionaire.
No wonder you support Romney, you are as irrational as he is. If making money means you're smart, than doesn't it stand to reason Warren Buffett is smarter than Romney, since he has made a gazillion more dollars?
Romney hasn't released all of his personal financial information necessary and I believe he's said he won't do so until after he is officially nominated.
I think he said after the nomination. If there is anything questionable after the nomination, it's pretty much too late to do anything. Before the nomination and he risks a "revolt" at the Convention.
President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney remain in a deadlocked contest
It's the word "remain" that bothers me. The previous Washington Post-ABC News poll on May 20th had Obama ahead 49% to 46%. The one before that on April 8th had Obama ahead by 51% to 44%.
A more accurate headline would have been "Republican challenger Mitt Romney continues to gain in popularity over President Obama."
A more accurate headline would have been "Republican challenger Mitt Romney continues to gain in popularity over President Obama. 123
Apparently you didn't read the whole survey. 59% of Mitts' support is anti-Obama. Hard to make the argument that Mitt is popular if his primary attributes are that he is a white male with good hair and straight teeth.
Tex - You might actually have a point there. That would seem to support the contention that Romney isn't gaining so much as Obama is losing, and that the situation is still very volatile. To keep that trend going I think that Romney needs to focus more on Obama's failed presidency than his own personal success. A large portion of the electorate seems to be irritated by the personal success of others.
Mitt is dead on with his campaign, focusing on the evils of Obamaism while avoiding giving us any reason to vote for him other than his assertions that he can revive the economy with tax and spending cuts. He strikes a simplistic chord for a frustrated populace hungry for any messianic message and happy to blame someone for serious and complex issues.
Read the poll to look for swing states leaning. No luck. The polls indicate that the swingers will be really important while the national mood is interesting but not conclusive.
Did notice that Mitt the barber's primary support is from the "anybody but Obama crowd". Shows the efficacy of Karl Rove's scorched earth campaign strategy.
Mr. Romney has no idea of how to create more jobs except for his friends in CHINA. He is reduced to putting up a sign, saying he is a jobs man. Mr. Romney, you are a disappointment.
.
Military Members, Veterans, Military retirees;
please note that Swiss Bank account Romney PROMOTED THE DRAFT during the Viet Nam War,
then skipped out to France for extraordinary length of time when church missionary tours were limited.
When Romney came home, he sided with his dad that the whole Viet Nam War was a scam and that he was against the war.
Promoting the draft, while Americans were dying, he skipped out, then says he wishes he could have participated. His whole life has been a lie.
Romney is a COWARD, Lying, Draft Dodger, who promoted someone else to die for him, that is his way of management.
Some may want anyone but Obama, but this guy ranks with Jane Fonda and should not be given anything or elected for anything.
For those who are not old enough to remember the military draft, it was a mandatory commitment for two years that was implemented during the Viet Nam War. If your number was called, you went and served like it or not. Young people may say, I wouldn't go and they can't make me, think again.
This is what Romney promoted as if he were a "responsible citizen", then he left his fellow citizens to serve and some died for us and him. I am ashamed of him as I am retired military member, and forget about representing our country Mr. Romney.
I am one of the Military members who are against Romney, this has nothing to do with politics.

Correct Amy, and didn't we have enough trouble the last time we spent 8 years with an idiot?

i don't believe you have ever seen him in person. his events are screened for access, and i know you would not make the cut.

so you have seen a guy and assessed him as not being all that bright.
that would be like saying anyone whose name starts with an A is not all that bright or that all people from Tennessee are also not all that bright.
based on absolutely nothing but your own personal prejudice
and i keep hearing how tolerant those on the left are. nothing but a myth.

Hmmm...Obama understands that our future progress, as a nation, means changing the status quo.
Romney is the status quo.

Warren Buffett is the second wealthiest America (behind Bill Gates) and Warren Buffett supports President Obama. 'Nuff said.
