Biden hammers Romney on outsourcing, wealth

WATERLOO, IA -- The outsourcing attack continues, with Joe Biden wielding the rhetorical cudgel today.

"You got to give Mitt Romney credit. He's a job creator," Biden said Tuesday at an eastern Iowa UAW hall, pausing for dramatic effect from a knowingly chuckling crowd of over 400. "In Singapore. And China. And India."

On the first stop of a two-day swing through the Hawkeye State, Biden skewered the GOP nominee for his tenure at investment firm Bain Capital, repeatedly calling Romney a "pioneer" of shipping American jobs overseas.

"Here's the bottom line, folks: Bain and their companies, they made a great deal of money outsourcing and off-shoring American jobs," the vice president said. "Yeah, they made a lot of money, but in the process they devastated whole American communities here in the heartland and back in my home state of Delaware."

The attack echoes one made by the Obama team in a wave of new ads running in swing states Ohio and Virginia as well as here in Iowa. "Mitt Romney never stood up to China," a narrator intones ominously in one of the commercials. "All he's ever done is send them our jobs."

Biden said that the wealth -- along with its attached strings of privilege -- that Romney accumulated from his tenure at Bain led to an "out of touch" nominee without an understanding of how real Americans keep track of their families' balance sheets.

"Did you ever think you'd be choosing between two people running for president, one of whom has a Swiss bank account?" he asked an incredulous crowd.

The vice president, who coughed and cleared his throat frequently throughout his remarks, noted that he was suffering from a cold. But the illness did not keep him from his trademark bellows in defense of the "American worker."

"His whole career, this good man Mitt Romney has looked at American workers, looked at all of you and the places I come from, looked at us as part of the problem," he said. "The president and I don't see American workers as part of the problem. We see them as the heart of the solution."

Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul called Biden's claims "misleading" and dinged Obama for rewarding foreign-owned energy companies with stimulus money.

"Vice President Biden today doubled down on the Obama campaign's same misleading attacks in an effort to distract voters from the President's disastrous economic record," she said. "President Obama thinks that economic development means sending billions of taxpayer dollars to foreign-owned companies and rewarding donors with money from his failed stimulus program."

Waterloo, home to a large John Deere factory, has enjoyed fairly low joblessness compared to the rest of the country. Recent numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show the unemployment rate in the area under five percent; it peaked in 2009 at 7.5 percent.

Biden noted that success Tuesday, winning cheers for recalling the Obama administration's efforts to jumpstart the auto industry and other parts of the manufacturing sector.

The vice president will remain in Iowa tomorrow, with events scheduled in Dubuque and Clinton.

Mitt may have earned his investors and company millions by outsourcing thousands of jobs. The Obama spin artists are trying to make it seem like Mitt Romney was the only one who pocketed all the cash outsourcing jobs.

Now compare that to the trillions that Obama has added to the federal deficit. Obama has sold the next generation as indentured servants to pay off foreign creditors.

I'm glad that you see it and post it also! Now the trick is to get people to believe the truth about his flat out failure at turning us into a "Socialist State."

Alot of that deficit resulted in truthful accounting for unbudgeted wars by the last administration. For tax cuts to keep the economy afloat instead of completely sinking. Its not all spending by this administration, and no matter how much you may want it to be otherwise, facts are facts.

"Obama has sold the next generation as indentured servants to pay off foreign creditors."

...so let's lower taxes for the rich, close down some public schools, and lay off some teachers.

That's just what the next generation needs.

    Doublethink.

Perhaps, as long as you don't belong to a corrupt Union.

              Unions sent your jobs overseas.

And most people STILL cannot see that.

Bring on November! Romney 2012 I guess the libs did not take us seriously when we said we were going to take this nation back. Your stimulus was only a temporary prop for the unions and now that money is gone and we see city after city failing to produce budgets with black ink on them. A trillion wasted that could have put millions to work that did not belong to a union. The clock is ticking and Obama loses by a landslide. Mitt is not the best but the best of the choices we have.

It I remember correctly Bush was pushing that stimulus very hard. Mitt is a joke, he can't even have a conversation without coaching. Who do you think is going to coach him if he wins? We see a lot of politicians sitting in Congress with their thunbs up their you-know-whats because they want a one term presidency for Obama. They cost the US our credit rating doing this. They offer no help and try to stop anything that might help. It is really funny that Obama fashioned ACA after Romneycare!! That is too funny.

This administration has succeeded in losing 1.4million jobs of a net loss since 2009 and you want more of the same?

Lets see, Bush was loosing 700000 a month in 2008, so 1.4 million in three years adds up to improvement to me.

That is why I really like the presidents idea of tax breaks for American companies hiring American workers in America. And by America, I am one of those old patriotic beings who only equate that to the good old USA.

I don't like the idea if millions of un-documented workers taking the few jobs that are out there. I don't like the idea of millions of dollars wasted on Solindra. I don't like the idea that all the wind turbines for the green energy initiatives are manufactured in large part in China. I don't like the part that a major insurance company moved to Ireland and saved over 1 billion in taxes for the investor. I don't like the fact that our economy tanked due to mismanagement and greed by Barney Frank and Harry Reid through their poor handling of the bank regulations that created the housing bubble. I don't like the fact that my 24 year old business will no longer support my family and three other families in direct payroll due to government policies that killed the construction industry.

I could go on but you are intrested in how you feel not the facts.

                                                Larue,

So a net loss of 1.4 million jobs in our employment numbers since 2009 is a great example of "business management"? I did not know Cracker Jacks had a University with an MBA program. I will go right out a buy a box today and be employed by the government tomorrow.

Education does not make up for a loss of common sense and being able to read the bottom line.

Had about 15 minutes to kill here at work so read some of the comments. Arguing with liberals is about as productive as sweeping back the tide with a broom. They're missing the logic gene. Along with several others. Had they been born wolves their parents would have eaten them. I can't wait for November when all our billionaires buy the election.

                                                    Love saying that......drives them nuts.

I love it when the VP speaks and goes right to the black heart of the GOP and Catchers Mitt and his cohorts. Its all there folks, the outsourcing, the profit at workers expense, the bank accounts all over the globe, the inability to release IRS forms for previous years, the inability to have solutions for problems that he and they criticise, yet have nothing to offer but vouchers, private health insurance, etc. Nothing, nothing and more nothing from the right side of the aisle, nothing but disrespect for real democracy in action and they forgot what the first Republican President said, government by the people, for the people and of the people - not by the corporate class, the infamous SCOTUS and their activities to deride democracy, a congress of great wealth with great benefits, unable to muster the courage and the moral turpitude to act on behalf of the country as opposed to their primary script writer, real evil charlatan Karl Rove.

Joe ain't rich, not run a corporation before but remains amongst the workers of this country and one hell of a honest man with no wealth of which to boast except wonderful morals. On the other side - no morals, win, win, win baby at any cost and damn the truth.

                                                    Obama/Biden 2012

Same Joe Biden who voted for NAFTA in 1993...you mean that black heart...I thought so.

Joe is barely literate...part of the group to lazy to read health care reform...lets just pass it to find out what is inside. Just like a box of chocolates huh?

                                                      No comprehension again.

Maybe Joe should check out the off-shoring going on with Obama for America. They are using Canadian and Philippine companies for their own call centers... Of course, THAT must be ok, because Uncle Joe and Obama the Immortal have decreed it to be so.

Hey there bulletstopper...you sure are brainwashed concerning the public sector issue...while the public sector grew under the last few presidents, it has actually shrunk under the Obama administration. A large part of that is due to Republican run states slashing budgets where it cripples the poorest and most needy. For our economy to recover most rapidly would require growth in the public sector because these are the real people who stimulate economic growth, not those rich ##### who claim responsibility for growth, the only growth they produce is in their Swiss bank accounts.

Only because he had to fire a bunch of Post Office employees to stem the loss of money.

The piece of chit whet on record before saying he would "never be a Governor because it was too much work--that's why I got into the Senate". So for this azzhole to say anything about anyone who actually had to truly work for a living is a joke.
