WATERLOO, IA -- The outsourcing attack continues, with Joe Biden wielding the rhetorical cudgel today.
"You got to give Mitt Romney credit. He's a job creator," Biden said Tuesday at an eastern Iowa UAW hall, pausing for dramatic effect from a knowingly chuckling crowd of over 400. "In Singapore. And China. And India."
On the first stop of a two-day swing through the Hawkeye State, Biden skewered the GOP nominee for his tenure at investment firm Bain Capital, repeatedly calling Romney a "pioneer" of shipping American jobs overseas.
"Here's the bottom line, folks: Bain and their companies, they made a great deal of money outsourcing and off-shoring American jobs," the vice president said. "Yeah, they made a lot of money, but in the process they devastated whole American communities here in the heartland and back in my home state of Delaware."
The attack echoes one made by the Obama team in a wave of new ads running in swing states Ohio and Virginia as well as here in Iowa. "Mitt Romney never stood up to China," a narrator intones ominously in one of the commercials. "All he's ever done is send them our jobs."
Biden said that the wealth -- along with its attached strings of privilege -- that Romney accumulated from his tenure at Bain led to an "out of touch" nominee without an understanding of how real Americans keep track of their families' balance sheets.
"Did you ever think you'd be choosing between two people running for president, one of whom has a Swiss bank account?" he asked an incredulous crowd.
The vice president, who coughed and cleared his throat frequently throughout his remarks, noted that he was suffering from a cold. But the illness did not keep him from his trademark bellows in defense of the "American worker."
"His whole career, this good man Mitt Romney has looked at American workers, looked at all of you and the places I come from, looked at us as part of the problem," he said. "The president and I don't see American workers as part of the problem. We see them as the heart of the solution."
Romney spokesperson Andrea Saul called Biden's claims "misleading" and dinged Obama for rewarding foreign-owned energy companies with stimulus money.
"Vice President Biden today doubled down on the Obama campaign's same misleading attacks in an effort to distract voters from the President's disastrous economic record," she said. "President Obama thinks that economic development means sending billions of taxpayer dollars to foreign-owned companies and rewarding donors with money from his failed stimulus program."
Waterloo, home to a large John Deere factory, has enjoyed fairly low joblessness compared to the rest of the country. Recent numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show the unemployment rate in the area under five percent; it peaked in 2009 at 7.5 percent.
Biden noted that success Tuesday, winning cheers for recalling the Obama administration's efforts to jumpstart the auto industry and other parts of the manufacturing sector.
The vice president will remain in Iowa tomorrow, with events scheduled in Dubuque and Clinton.

A former employer of mine moved its call centers to Argentina and the Phillipines around '04/05. LESS then a yr later, they had to move them BACK to the US, becuase too many people calling -- in both the employers employees AND the customers COMPLAINED about the service or the lack of understanding the broken accents of said call-center employees. I had to tell my accts HOW to get around the call-centers to get to talk to ME, so *I* could take care of the acct MYSELF!
Also about the same time, I had trouble with my ISP, but EVERYTIME I called, I got someone in another country. BUT the LAST time I called, I got someone in FLORIDA who spoke PERFECT English! When I said: " Oh thank God for someone who speaks english"! She said:
"yeah, I get that alot"!
I think the same thing happened to some of the places I was calling. I finally gave up, asked to talk to someone I could understand, and I think companies are finally beginning to realize a customer service rep that nobody can understand is a waste of money.
I have a relative who had a job moving American jobs to Mexico. He don't like liberals or Democrats.
Those of you babbling the rightwing nonsense about Joe Biden, might want to ask why he is not one of the politicians who grew extremely wealthy, even after a lifetime of service. He is a common man, worth about as much as you or me. I am sure he could have taken bribes and worked with lobbyists to gain wealth, but he actually cares about the law, about America and about the American worker. Is there any politician on the right who has served a lifetime in Congress and is not wealthy? Anyone??
He spends his money instead of saving or investing. It was obvious from his release of his tax returns. And he barely gives anything to charity.
Good for him, he puts his money back into the economy. My kind of American.
Then complains he has no savings and the government must support him.

Joe Biden, the US most serious national security risk, forgot to check on who arranges Obamas' travel schedule. He will find that it is outsourced by the Obama team and therefore, Biden is a hypocrite in charging his ravel as being an outsourcer. Get the facts strait before making the nick-picking charges.

If you're so goddam mad about outsourcing, why didn't your party do something about it when your party held the Presidency and BOTH Houses of Congress??? And if you REALLY care about American jobs, you need look no further than your own state of Pennsylvania and the promise by Obama that he is going to bankrupt the coal industry!
In closing, Joe, start packing. We're going to vote your butt out of the White House......you and that incompetent community organizer boss of yours.
Outsourcing is as American as apple pie. Companies that outsource their human resources, their warehousing, their telemarketing, etc. dominant American business and industry today. Oracle, Microsoft, Dell, IBM, etc. - all have Help Desks overseas. Virtually all of the companies on the stock exchange outsource, and most of that outsourcing is overseas. In addition, local, state, and the federal government outsource when they use local private sector businesses to do their printing, their food service, their warehousing, their transportation, etc. So, what exactly is President Obama, V-P Biden, and the democrats sounding an alarm about? Ah yes, something they know nothing about, based on their inability to understand what "outsourcing" means in business and industry.
Romney is unamerican period! He gave our jobs to India..enough said...he sucks!!!

That was not broad ranged- it was directed at a specific individual. And you've probably never read much of what Jesus said who used pretty strong language.

Larry, I value your opinion. So how can a Christian nation ever vote for Mitt Romney? He is all about corporate greed, his idol is his money, and from all I have read the Mormon church traces its roots to Ishmael and into the Americas. Its something I have to research further, because this is just not the way I have been taught. For as long as I can remember, the Mormons and the Jehovah Witness have been taught as false religions. And we have been warned to be very careful of the charismatic leader who will come to power under trying circumstances. Not that Romney is by any means charismatic.
