The Week That Was: Economic fears, narrowing polls, and courting Latinos

NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro look back at the week that was and the speeches by both Mitt Romney and President Obama to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Conference and new poll numbers showing a close race between Romney and Obama. Also, the week's veepstakes speculation that focused on Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

President Romney on Day One

Ray Walser, a co-chair of Mitt Romney's campaign for issues pertaining to Latin America, finally spilled the beans: Mr. Walser, told The Daily Telegraph: "My anticipation is that he would probably rescind this directive were he to be elected in November."

Mr. Walser, a senior policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation and veteran US diplomat, said such a decision would be in line with the "very tough" stance taken on illegal migration by Mr. Romney so far.

The combined price of a bat and ball are $11.00.

The bat costs $10.00 more than the ball.

How much does the ball cost?

Let's make a deal.

As I've mentioned before .... David Walker's statement to the effect that .... "stupid people don't realize they are stupid" .... may just apply to one of us.

If you have the courage to answer the above question, if you actually have the intelligence to correctly answer the question .... I will answer all your insipid comments and apologize for ever questioning your blogal aptitude.

If you don't answer, if you don't answer for yourself, or if you answer incorrectly ... you simply have to put me on ignore / not make me waste my time anymore.

If the ball cost $0.00 .... and the cost of the bat is $10 more than the cost of the ball ($0.00) that makes the combined cost $10 + 0 = $10 .... not the $11 as stated.

Sorry Seeking, I got interrupted and didn't see #1.14.

The common incorrect answer, of the few that actually miss it, is - the ball cost $1.

$10.00 + $1.00 = $11.00 ... looks right til you take a second to check / remember that the bat cost $10 more than the ball .... $10 + $1 = $11 for the bat plus $1 for the ball = $12 - wrong answer.

To come up with your first answer is not careless, or sloppy (especially after 32 minutes) ... literally .... it is just stupid.

Have a good weekend.

Bob you should never call anyone stupid. I was working and certainly not spending 32 minutes on this problem. I spent less than 1 minute on it then realized what I had done.

But, you clearly have to try to think I am stupid - it's what makes you feel smart - in your mind. So, if that's what you need - good for you. But we both know I am far from stupid. So go ahead if you're that pathetic - yep - you are!

Seeking -

Yep you're working real hard ... what ... almost 40 blogs today!

About me calling you stupid .... hate to tell you .... never did.

I refered to David's remark and one of us might be - not that it was you. I said your answer of $0 was stupid - not that you were. I referenced David's remark again and thanked you for answering - without stating what the answer is.

People make their own conclusions.

As far as me wanting you to be wrong .... not really. I am smarter than tens of millions of Americans and there are tens of millions smarter than I am.

Why do I care where you fit?

Finally, I don't respond to your comments - except when you respond to and challenge mine.

You may be highly intelligent, but whether emotions / wrong side of the issues / whatever you have never demonstrated it.

Simple thing to do to avoid the humilation above is to put me on ignore / not repsond to my comments until you can do a better job.

If not .... it will get worse for you each time, just like I said ...just like it has.

Have a good weekend Seeking.

bob-1805084 - but if you'll remember, I didn't miss the bat and ball question. I corrected my mistake - see?

You clearly are afraid of any feedback I give you. Too bad!

As for your ridiculous statement "do you think they're smart enough to be humiliated" I'll tell you a secret. Humiliation has nothing to do with being smart. I'm secure enough in myself that a silly math question isn't about to humiliate me. What total nonsense. See, if you get humiliated by such a tiny incident, you're lacking self-confidence - not intelligence. Try to keep up!

I don't need to "feel better" - I didn't feel bad to begin with. You're deflecting again.

Quite the contrary Sanity, Romney has done a great deal to be respected for. After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, Romney's first major business deal involved investing in a start-up office supply company with one store in Massachusetts that sold office supplies. That company, called Staples, now has over 2,000 stores and employs over 90,000 people.

Romney and his company Bain Capital (using what became known as the "Bain Way") would go on to perform the same kinds of business miracles again and again, with companies like Domino's, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others. He is a true genius and he is uniquely capable of fixing this financial debacle that the "Spending President" has gotten us into.

Vogel of Politico is a liar. He is falling for the GOP's excuse for where they are today with the Latino community by making up this absurd story of how President Obama didn't work on reform.

It is the GOP who didn't want it and it's about time they owned up to it. They failed miserably and for Vogel to sit there with a straight face and say the president didn't try hard enough is pure GOP talking points and what they are doing, as usual, is pointing the finger anywhere but at themselves.

      America's Voice:

Romney and the Republicans seem to have perfected the art of blaming Obama and the Democrats for not doing anything on immigration, when it’s been Republican obstructionism that’s been the main obstacle, and of not really saying anything of substance on immigration, while pretending to be for some vague notion of reform. We still await answers to the key immigration questions that Romney ducked yesterday: if he’s President, what will happen to the DREAMers who President Obama moved to protect? What will happen to the rest of the undocumented immigrants, given you see Arizona as a model for the nation and have not retreated from your “self-deportation” stance? And when are you going to stand up to the nativists in your party in a display of leadership that has been notably absent all the way through yesterday’s NALEO speech?

No way, will I watch!.....What's MSNBC thinking..do they think Cupp will raise the viewing audience levels. Not, thinking viewers...but maybe they're going after the Tea People viewers, who may have their ears glued to the radio (Limbaugh) or Faux.

But I think about the other folks, so maybe I'll peek in every now and then.

This article reports "new poll numbers showing a close race between Romney and Obama." and the headline says that this represents "narrowing polls" Actually they should have indicated that Romney is widening his lead over Obama.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney attracting 48% of the vote, while President Obama earns 43%. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate, and another three percent (3%) are undecided.

The president picks up support from just 35% of white voters overall. That’s eight points below the 43% of the white vote he won in 2008. Among white Democrats, 17% currently plan to vote for Romney.

O'Bama & company have really sunk to a new low. According to other websites (not just FOX), the O'Bamma campaign is now suggesting that one may, if they wish, donate to his campaign in memory of (funeral) celebration of (wedding, birthday, etc.) friends or relatives (instead of gifts or memorials) and they would then send a thank you card to the family, couple etc. What is my son and his fiancee' to do with the thank-you card? Burn it in the fireplace to keep warm next winter?

Just ran some stats on Gallup poll accuracy in the last eight presidential elections. Turns out that the final survey before election day erred on the side of the Democrat candidate 75% of the time and average error (for the Democrat) was about 2 percentage points. For example, in the last election Gallup projected that Obama would beat McCain 55% to 44%. It was actually 53% to 46%.

The current Gallup poll has Romney winning by 1% (46% to 45%) so, applying the historical correction factor, a more accurate assessment would be Romney winning by 47% to 44%. It's good to see that more and more Americans are recognizing that Obama has been a failure.

I'll save your comment, Seeking. Perhaps, if the US is lucky, I'll be able to play it back to you in November while making noises of childish derision.

Just remember, every republican in congress has been dishonest if they say they tried to work with the democrats, they have had their fingers crossed behind their back ever since Obama took office and their secret meeting on Inaugaral day to make sure he never takes office again. They worked with the 5 supreme republican judges and their billionaires and now want to take away your freedom forever after making the economy much worse than it should be right now just to remove Obama. You are paying the price for their 4 year mutiny or should we call it almost treason?
