NBC's Mark Murray and Domenico Montanaro look back at the week that was and the speeches by both Mitt Romney and President Obama to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Conference and new poll numbers showing a close race between Romney and Obama. Also, the week's veepstakes speculation that focused on Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

President Romney on Day One
Ray Walser, a co-chair of Mitt Romney's campaign for issues pertaining to Latin America, finally spilled the beans: Mr. Walser, told The Daily Telegraph: "My anticipation is that he would probably rescind this directive were he to be elected in November."
Mr. Walser, a senior policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation and veteran US diplomat, said such a decision would be in line with the "very tough" stance taken on illegal migration by Mr. Romney so far.

Oh shoot Dennis, I didn't see your post; I posted the same article in the Rubio thread.
This story is all.over.the.place.

Seeking -
Let's make a deal.
As I've mentioned before .... David Walker's statement to the effect that .... "stupid people don't realize they are stupid" .... may just apply to one of us.
If you have the courage to answer the above question, if you actually have the intelligence to correctly answer the question .... I will answer all your insipid comments and apologize for ever questioning your blogal aptitude.
If you don't answer, if you don't answer for yourself, or if you answer incorrectly ... you simply have to put me on ignore / not make me waste my time anymore.
Have the guts for a simple question?
Sorry -
Edit didn't take.
I'm a dummy, but can Seeking "Make a Deal?"
Can she answer the simple question?
Sheesh ... above edit just took ... nevermind.

Come on Seeking ....
20 minutes and still no answer?
Sheesh ...
OK ... another 5 minutes to check with the 4th grader next door.
Bob - the ball costs nothing. The bat costs the full $11.
And, I don't really care if you put me on ignore or not!
And, idiot, I'm also working so I don't just hang out at this site!
Oops - 50 cents. Shouldn't be working and this at the same time.
Seeking -
If the ball cost $0.00 .... and the cost of the bat is $10 more than the cost of the ball ($0.00) that makes the combined cost $10 + 0 = $10 .... not the $11 as stated.
Sorry Seeking, but thanks for answering the question about David's statement.
And thanks in advance for putting me on ignore.
Clearly didn't read my re-state. I got it right and you know it but little bobby is too scared to admit it.
And I did answer David's statement - you clearly are stupid and only read what you want. Because you know you can't keep up!
Sorry Seeking, I got interrupted and didn't see #1.14.
The common incorrect answer, of the few that actually miss it, is - the ball cost $1.
$10.00 + $1.00 = $11.00 ... looks right til you take a second to check / remember that the bat cost $10 more than the ball .... $10 + $1 = $11 for the bat plus $1 for the ball = $12 - wrong answer.
To come up with your first answer is not careless, or sloppy (especially after 32 minutes) ... literally .... it is just stupid.
Have a good weekend.
Bob you should never call anyone stupid. I was working and certainly not spending 32 minutes on this problem. I spent less than 1 minute on it then realized what I had done.
But, you clearly have to try to think I am stupid - it's what makes you feel smart - in your mind. So, if that's what you need - good for you. But we both know I am far from stupid. So go ahead if you're that pathetic - yep - you are!
Actually Bob - what's really stupid is your not seeing the last post I had made prior to your posting. Almost as if you CHOSE to ignore it because you wanted me to be wrong so badly. Totally pathetic!
Seeking -
Yep you're working real hard ... what ... almost 40 blogs today!
About me calling you stupid .... hate to tell you .... never did.
I refered to David's remark and one of us might be - not that it was you. I said your answer of $0 was stupid - not that you were. I referenced David's remark again and thanked you for answering - without stating what the answer is.
People make their own conclusions.
As far as me wanting you to be wrong .... not really. I am smarter than tens of millions of Americans and there are tens of millions smarter than I am.
Why do I care where you fit?
Finally, I don't respond to your comments - except when you respond to and challenge mine.
You may be highly intelligent, but whether emotions / wrong side of the issues / whatever you have never demonstrated it.
Simple thing to do to avoid the humilation above is to put me on ignore / not repsond to my comments until you can do a better job.
If not .... it will get worse for you each time, just like I said ...just like it has.
Have a good weekend Seeking.
Bob - you're mistaken if you think you humiliated me. I made a mistake and quickly - before you could even catch it - corrected the mistake. You chose to ignore the correction because you just HAD to make sure I had the wrong answer. That only made you look bad - not me.
Too bad you try so hard to put me down and look foolish in the process.
Have a good weekend!
And that brings us back to David's statement... do you think the people he is talking about are smart enough to be humiliated?
SeekingSanity,
If it makes you feel any better - there was a study on intelligence and the effects of bias / etc.
One on the study groups was a group of Harvard students.
Almost half missed the bat and ball question ....
No hard feelings whatsoever ... but honestly, it would be better if you just put me on ignore.
bob-1805084 - but if you'll remember, I didn't miss the bat and ball question. I corrected my mistake - see?
You clearly are afraid of any feedback I give you. Too bad!
As for your ridiculous statement "do you think they're smart enough to be humiliated" I'll tell you a secret. Humiliation has nothing to do with being smart. I'm secure enough in myself that a silly math question isn't about to humiliate me. What total nonsense. See, if you get humiliated by such a tiny incident, you're lacking self-confidence - not intelligence. Try to keep up!
I don't need to "feel better" - I didn't feel bad to begin with. You're deflecting again.
I wonder what Willard & Annie filled the swag bags with for their guests at Willard's little sleep-over?
Has Willard the merry prankster short-sheeted their beds too?
Is Turd Blossom bringing whoopy-cushions?
Good times to be had by all at Camp Willard...
Why are you such a racist?
Why are you such a nitwit?
The swag bags were definitly better at Clooney's and Sarah Jessica Parkers.
All kinds of "Vogue" stuff I bet.
Good times to be had by all at Camp Willard...
Good times indeed. Much better than all the troubles at Camp Obama.
Why are you such a racist?
RSR - WTF are you talking about?
GT -- look back at many of her comments. She is clearly a racist. I just wonder what would turn someone to such hatred for people of a different race.
The swag bags were definitly better at Clooney's and Sarah Jessica Parkers.
WCA - I'll betcha it was a lot more fun at Clooney's and Sarah Jessica Parkers than at Mitt's.....
GT -- look back at many of her comments. She is clearly a racist. I just wonder what would turn someone to such hatred for people of a different race
RSR - I've never heard Feisty, if that's who you're referring too, ever say anything racist. You gotta get a grip there, little Skid-Mark.......
red sox suck!
Well GT maybe Anne Romney will bring her horse to ride.
Obama had the Horse thing covered with Sarah Jessica Parker, so I guess that would be a push.
Feisty supports President Obama 100% and AG Holder 100%.
And she's the racist? It's not possible.
Obama had the Horse thing covered with Sarah Jessica Parker, so I guess that would be a push.
WCA - Exactly my point. Riding Sarah would be sooooo much more fun. Them Dems sure know how to throw a party. YeeHaa!
Dang GT you missed it.
Sarah Jessica Parker - Horseface?
Come on....
Maybe Fisty is black and she is racist against whites?
All starting to make sense now..
I'm sure the "Root Beer" will taste great at that soiree!
You know, I've been called many things over the years here @ First Read, until you came along, I don't believe I've ever been called a racist!
Congrats!
WCA - what are you? 10? Now you're ripping Sarah Jessica Parker. Usually you rip Michelle Obama. Clearly you have a problem with all women. Poor little guy! Too bad!
White Collar Auto
he didn't; he just ignored you. And I'll bet Sarah Jessica Parker is better looking than anything you've ever had.
Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL
Apparently, making fun of Romney's makes you a racist
The comments from the right-wing dip-sh!tz are getting more and more insane. Just the thought of President Obama being re-elected is causing them to call others racists. Talk about the kettle, the frying pan and the cast iron stove calling the pot black!

I like the photo of President Obama on this thread. He looks confident and engaged.
He's going to be re-elected. Can you imagine a President Romney, a puppet in chief?
Pondering the kettle and the pot hypocrisy thing...
Why so much derision at WCA who only made a comment about an actress with what he considers a long, narrow face - a la John Kerry. Yet no reprimand for GT for his avatar or his innuendo about the same woman at post 2.11? Hmmm that is called something...
Truthfully, after the Friday Immigration executive order last week, this week hasn't been that good for President Obama. Hopefully things change next week with an upholding of the ACA.
Despite my politics, as Tyler might say - Respect others and refrain from personal attacks. (foreshadowing for my responders)
carrot top is a racist enabler... reaching to gather waning support for a President's failed policies and broken promises! Sorry old gal... it's not working! Barry's approval ratings are plummeting across the board. His attacks on Romney are falling on deaf ears... meanwhile the economy suffers.
The best thing Obama could do right now is go on another extended vacation... it seems that is the only time he can't do more damage to the country... except his vacations are a bit expensive as well as his failed investments (remember Solyndra?)!
New Bloomberg Poll of likely voters (6/20/2012):
National – Obama 53%, Romney 40%
Presidential approval rating 53%/44%
Favorability – Obama 55%, Romney 39%
Out of touch with voters – Obama 36%, Romney 55%
Would be better for the economy – Obama 48%, Romney 43%
Congressional pick – Democrat 48%, Republican 41%
Party favorability – Democrat 50/43, Republican 41/50

Dennis,
So are polls good or bad? I cant keep up.
Sorry Dennis, Bloomberg has no credibility. Why don't you post Gallop or Rasmussen poll results.... or any other polls? You might not like what you see..... !
RCP Average of polls as of 6/21/12
Obama 46.6
Romney 44.3

Thanks Mark, but I should have known better than to try to make any funnies here.
The long narrow face thing is a running joke on the sports radio station here in Detroit and every time I see Parker, I can't get it out of my head.
BTW I have never said anything bad about Michelle Obama personally. Her politics maybe, but nothing personal, ever.
Hope all is well.
Feisty - show some respect. You should refer to him as Mister Willard. After all we refer to POTUS as President Hussein.
Kannin - Romney has done nothing to be respected for - see how that works?
Quite the contrary Sanity, Romney has done a great deal to be respected for. After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, Romney's first major business deal involved investing in a start-up office supply company with one store in Massachusetts that sold office supplies. That company, called Staples, now has over 2,000 stores and employs over 90,000 people.
Romney and his company Bain Capital (using what became known as the "Bain Way") would go on to perform the same kinds of business miracles again and again, with companies like Domino's, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others. He is a true genius and he is uniquely capable of fixing this financial debacle that the "Spending President" has gotten us into.
Classic MSNBC - The Week That Was with no mention Of Eric Holder being in Comtempt of Congress and no mention of the economy/unemployment numbers.
Sorry Mark and Domenico, just cuz you guys don't want to talk about it, it's not going to go away.
By all means The American Public was interested in Latino speeches and VP rumors.
You guys are really tone deaf.
No mention that this program was started during the Bush administration, no mention that the requested documents would out undercover operatives. No mention that you swallowed the Faux News Kool-Aid. No mention that Issa did not subpoena anyone from the prior administration.
White Collar,
Did you see this reported anywhere?
Obama administration distributed $9 billion in economic “stimulus” funds to solar and wind projects in 2009-11 that created, as the end result, 910 “direct” jobs -- annual operation and maintenance positions -- meaning that it cost about $9.8 million to establish each of those long-term jobs.
You need to change your name from Thinking Citizen to non-Thinking Citizen. Even the MSM corrected that Obama's stooge about when FAF started.
Obama asserting privileged means he probably is complicit in covering up the details behind the death of a US citizen.
Stop the war on America being waged by Obama!!!!
Yeah thetotas, but before the Libbies scream it worked out to 910 jobs and 4600 indirect jobs or 5510 jobs total.
So that works out to only $1.63 million per job.
To the left, that's a bargain.
RedSoxRule
GT -- look back at many of her comments. She is clearly a racist. I just wonder what would turn someone to such hatred for people of a different race
And you're not RedSoxRule???
The very idea that you would even make a statement like that indicates you are not living in the real world.
Like I said before Righties are lunatics.
Bev, you're funny.
So you mean that the following are racists since they said someone else is:
Sharpton, Obama(s), Holder, Rev Jackson, Pretty much all staff at MSNBC.
I knew it! thanks for taking the lead on that.

Obama/Biden 2012
Has anyone mentioned Nancy Pelosi senior moment?
GT, MSNBC had one of those republican "journalists" on from Politico and he said President Obama didn't work hard enough to pass the DREAM Act. Not that the Republicans failed for political reasons to pass it, but that President Obama didn't want it. Can you believe these people?
So we're to assume that President Obama acting in favor of student immigrants last Friday was based on something he didn't want bad enough in '10?
I just can't seem to get over their blatant BS on air.
Speaking of a right wing conspiracy look how they conspired to make the President a one term President? To me thats a crime because they haven't done a thing for the country. The facts are there one does not have to look far to see that.
Pat Boston MA.
GT, MSNBC had one of those republican "journalists" on from Politico and he said President Obama didn't work hard enough to pass the DREAM Act. Not that the Republicans failed for political reasons to pass it, but that President Obama didn't want it. Can you believe these people?
Since Comcast came in nothing surprises me. The nerve of them to give that S.E. Cupp a show.
Hell, I believe Micheal Steele would be better. At least he isn't stuck on himself like that Sippy Cupp and can sometimes be reasonable.
nolimitsoldier50 I know damn well Democrats got a lot of sh^& in their closets too.
If you know so much, tell us what facts you know. We are waiting.
Vogel of Politico is a liar. He is falling for the GOP's excuse for where they are today with the Latino community by making up this absurd story of how President Obama didn't work on reform.
It is the GOP who didn't want it and it's about time they owned up to it. They failed miserably and for Vogel to sit there with a straight face and say the president didn't try hard enough is pure GOP talking points and what they are doing, as usual, is pointing the finger anywhere but at themselves.
America's Voice:
Romney and the Republicans seem to have perfected the art of blaming Obama and the Democrats for not doing anything on immigration, when it’s been Republican obstructionism that’s been the main obstacle, and of not really saying anything of substance on immigration, while pretending to be for some vague notion of reform. We still await answers to the key immigration questions that Romney ducked yesterday: if he’s President, what will happen to the DREAMers who President Obama moved to protect? What will happen to the rest of the undocumented immigrants, given you see Arizona as a model for the nation and have not retreated from your “self-deportation” stance? And when are you going to stand up to the nativists in your party in a display of leadership that has been notably absent all the way through yesterday’s NALEO speech?
S.E. Cupp is a hack!...I guess she will provide an alternative (liar) view of politics.
Bets, on how long it will take her to flame out with some racist view( lies), then she's gone!..Maybe her contract won't be as rock solid at the racist Pat Buchanan!.....she'll be gone quicker!
Beverly, the story out there is that MSNBC is supposed to stand for Lean Forward, yet they are following Fox News' format. How ironic.
I watch the station less and less.
I'll drink to that! lol
Didn't want Dylan and I certainly am not going to be watching that dumb bunnie!
Richard Griffin, Jr., where does President Obama find these people?
There goes Fiesty, showing her racist style! Sad.
No way, will I watch!.....What's MSNBC thinking..do they think Cupp will raise the viewing audience levels. Not, thinking viewers...but maybe they're going after the Tea People viewers, who may have their ears glued to the radio (Limbaugh) or Faux.
But I think about the other folks, so maybe I'll peek in every now and then.
redsuxrule Are you a racist? By the way you know what they say "It takes one to know one". Why the hate?
thetotas
Has anyone mentioned Nancy Pelosi senior moment
That bothers you?
Bev,
Yes it does. She came out of left field with that comment.
I think RedSoxRule thinks that 'Turd Blossom' is a racial epithet...geez, buddy.
President is great!! The crowd loved it!! It is much better then yesterday's speech!
President Obama is the best president in the world!!

This article reports "new poll numbers showing a close race between Romney and Obama." and the headline says that this represents "narrowing polls" Actually they should have indicated that Romney is widening his lead over Obama.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney attracting 48% of the vote, while President Obama earns 43%. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate, and another three percent (3%) are undecided.
The president picks up support from just 35% of white voters overall. That’s eight points below the 43% of the white vote he won in 2008. Among white Democrats, 17% currently plan to vote for Romney.
O'Bama & company have really sunk to a new low. According to other websites (not just FOX), the O'Bamma campaign is now suggesting that one may, if they wish, donate to his campaign in memory of (funeral) celebration of (wedding, birthday, etc.) friends or relatives (instead of gifts or memorials) and they would then send a thank you card to the family, couple etc. What is my son and his fiancee' to do with the thank-you card? Burn it in the fireplace to keep warm next winter?
Romney 2012
Just ran some stats on Gallup poll accuracy in the last eight presidential elections. Turns out that the final survey before election day erred on the side of the Democrat candidate 75% of the time and average error (for the Democrat) was about 2 percentage points. For example, in the last election Gallup projected that Obama would beat McCain 55% to 44%. It was actually 53% to 46%.
The current Gallup poll has Romney winning by 1% (46% to 45%) so, applying the historical correction factor, a more accurate assessment would be Romney winning by 47% to 44%. It's good to see that more and more Americans are recognizing that Obama has been a failure.
Kannin - in your dreams. November will tell a different story after people have heard Mitt falter every time someone asks a question.
I'll save your comment, Seeking. Perhaps, if the US is lucky, I'll be able to play it back to you in November while making noises of childish derision.
Just remember, every republican in congress has been dishonest if they say they tried to work with the democrats, they have had their fingers crossed behind their back ever since Obama took office and their secret meeting on Inaugaral day to make sure he never takes office again. They worked with the 5 supreme republican judges and their billionaires and now want to take away your freedom forever after making the economy much worse than it should be right now just to remove Obama. You are paying the price for their 4 year mutiny or should we call it almost treason?
