But: “The presidential race is roughly tied among the most enthusiastic voters, 49 percent of whom back Romney compared with 48 percent for Obama. Still, Romney inspires far less enthusiasm even among his supporters than does Obama, with 35 percent of Romney backers saying their support for him is “very strong,” compared with 51 percent of Obama backers who say so.”
The New York Times does its own fact-checking of Obama and Romney campaign statements. “With the presidential race largely focused on the economy and the budget, Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney are filling speeches with facts and figures designed to enhance their case and diminish the other guy’s, in the process often making assertions fundamentally at odds with one another. Along the way, both candidates are at times stretching the truth, using statistics without context, exaggerating their own records and misrepresenting their opponent’s.”

Not sure how they do it in texas, but most of us know it takes more than 4 years (3 1/2 actually to date) to clean up an 8 year mess. I never expected this to be cleaned up in 4 years, especially not after the obstructionists took over congress, they are too endebted to the 1% and the "I got mine, to h--l with you, me, me, mine" greedy group now controlling the gop.

My husband is finally having a good return on the stocks in his 401k, (I took mine out of stocks in April 2001 so I never lost anything), we did not let any snake oil realtor sell us a house we could not afford, everyone is gainfully employed and pretty happy about it, gass is down to $3.06 a gallon this morning, and it's "Summertime time, time, chile and the living is so easy"(late great Janis Joplin). Life is good, hope and change are working very well for me and my family, thanks for asking! We'd like another 4 years of this instead of the crappy 8 years from 2000-2008, maybe thats because we are the working middle class? You better believe it!

The most accurate poll of the last presidential election, Rasmussen, which does DAILY tracking polls, has had Mr. Romney consistently leading Mr. Obama outside the margin of error since early June and that lead is growing, Today it still shows Mr. Romney ahead, but it is not surprising Democrats would jump on and cling to this one poll, much as a drowning man will desperately attempt to grasp even a twig.

Rasmussen's margin of error is +-3 percentage points. I check Rasmussen every day and my recollection is that Romney had an 8 point lead on ONE DAY!! Romney has NOT consistently led outside the margin of error!

That is true, the margin of error is 3 ,the margin Today was 4 for Mr. Romney, a lead outside the margin of error,(3) and Mr. Romney has lead by as much as 8, but his lead has been consistent.

Obama's comment you refer to before being elected in 2008 was not quoted in the same way you insinuate it was. Obama said he would rather be a great one term President than a two term average President. He never said his goal was to be a one term President if he couldn't clean up the GOP mess from 2000-2008. It has been the Republican expectation he should clean up in 4 years the mess Republicans made in 8 years. This isn't a valid argument against why Obama shouldn't get 4 more years. To the contrary, it's precisely the reason why he WILL get 4 more years. Republicans are just selfish pigs who care only about THEIR economy instaed of the ENTIRE National economy.

You are absolutely correct Amy when you say that the American people are not stupid and that we have not forgotten what the previous administration (the GOP) did to this great nation. The GOP came as close as possible to irreparable harm to our economy. We will not allow that to happen again as we vote for democrats across the country to begin ridding ourselves of the ilk that brought us to our knees (the GOP) and replace them with democrats.
This coming election is not just about who will be our president. It is also about who will make up our elected House. We need to rid ourselves of the obstructionists in the House so that we can move forward. As Union Baby, TN pointed out in a couple of great posts earlier, we are finally showing signs of positive financial growth in spite of all the obstruction that the GOP musters. The president probably could have had much better results at this point, but the Great Obstructionist Party (GOP) has done everything in their power to stymie the president, the democrats and the American people.
The president and the democrats need to continue to point out more of what they intend to do for us as a nation rather than just focusing on the economy. The GOP and Mitt know they can't beat the president when it comes to the other matters that America needs to focus on. They don't have a clue what is good for America until the democrats come up with something and then they simply try to block it. We need a party with a clear vision that will take us to new heights and that party is the Democratic party.
The GOP talked about high gas prices. Gas continues to go down every week. They stop talking about it. The housing market problems that were created by the banks who were supported by the GOP are stabilizing. The president makes changes to Wall Street, comes up with plans that create new mortgage rates so people don't lose more homes. The GOP stops talking it. Job growth continues to grow in spite of the GOP, so they stop talking it until a month shows less than expected results and then they raise the roof with their voices. The jobs go back up and they stop talking about it again.
Quite simply, the GOP people are nothing but a lot of blowhards hell bent on keeping money in the hands of themselves and their friends. They want the country to continue to be dependent on oil even though we could all pay less in the long run with alternative fuels. They would like nothing less than the American people to be completely reliant on them as they continue their attempts to prevent employees in unions to earn a fair wage and retirement. That doesn't fit with their idea that people should be earning only enough to get by and never have the ability to retire with a comfortable income. They would like to increase the retirement age, take away Social Security, end Medicare/Medicaid and strip workers of their rights. The only thing they haven't said publicly is: "Let Them Eat Cake"!

Come on...he was so great and had total control of Congress for 2 years and still couldn't accomplish one thing except spend, spend spend. People may not like Romney but I can tell you this...if we get 4 more years of Obama we are going to be just like Spain (broke), Greece (broke), Egypt (broke and run my Muslim brotherhood) and I could go on. I will say this...this President has trampled the Constitution of the United States, walked on it, wiped his as* on it -- and at this point is walking a very, very thin line on criminal actions. How about we look at the when the President's statement was made, and then look at what was discovered about the actual depth of the recession over a year later.
The President's statement was made in February 2009, less than one month after his being sworn into office. The second link is to an article by CBS in October 2010, once the FACTS were clear regarding the depth and breath of the recession.
See, this is the problem with you oppositional individuals, you want to cherry-pick statements and overlook reality. People like yourself are so enamored with the idea of making President Obama a one-term president that you will distort reality in order to make it match your ideology.
Factor in the number of filibusters put forth by the Republican Senate from 2009 through the 2010 midterm elections (111th Congresses http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/reference/cloture_motions/clotureCounts.htm) and you get the real picture of why our economy is recovering so slowly.

Not sure if this poll takes into account the 28-35% of Black voters that are voting for Mitt, there is a conservative Black vote that very few pollsters talk about and it might be more than 35% for this election.
Obama's, stand on same sex marriage, illegal immigration , and economy (unemployment 23%) were major factors for Black voters mutiny from the Democratic Party, or voting for Obama.
