Romney promises to seek immigration reform law

Mitt Romney would pursue some type of comprehensive, long-term reform to America's immigration system, the former Massachusetts governor and his supporters said on Sunday.

Republicans accused President Obama of playing politics on Friday when he announced that the government would no longer seek the deportation of immigrants who were illegally brought to the U.S. as children, under certain conditions.

"What I would do, is I’d make sure that by coming into office, I would work with Congress to put in place a long-term solution for the children of those that have come here illegally," Romney said Sunday on "Face the Nation."

A top surrogate of Romney's, Arizona Sen. John McCain, went slightly further. Romney was "certainly willing to address that issue and immigration reform in a comprehensive way," McCain said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Obama administration won't seek deportation of young illegal immigrants

The Obama administration's announcement on Friday has had immediate reverberations on the presidential campaign trail. The shift in policy was seen as a bid toward energizing Latino voters, who could prove a decisive voting bloc in certain swing states, behind Obama's candidacy.

Romney, whose conservative rhetoric on immigration during the primary prompted worries about turning off Latinos, sidestepped a question about whether he should specifically undo Obama's order. He said that question would be rendered moot — "overtaken by events," he said — by the long-term solution he would instead put in place.

For its part, the Obama administration denied that the announcement was motivated by electoral considerations.

"It wasn't about politics," White House adviser David Plouffe said on NBC. "We're absolutely confident … this is well within our powers to do."

Romney wants 'long-term' solution for illegal immigration

Plouffe said he expected the election to be a close on regardless, but nonetheless acknowledged the administration's new policy toward young immigrants could give Obama a leg-up among Latinos in swing states.

"We're going to have to fight for every vote," Plouffe said, "but there's no doubt our strength with Latino voters helps in Nevada, Arizona, Florida."

Republicans, though, said that they viewed Obama's move with skepticism, accusing the administration of acting with an eye toward November.

"This was obviously a way to divert attention from very bad news the president has received the last tree or four weeks," McCain said.

Romney argued that the "timing is pretty clear," saying that Obama could have acted sooner in his administration to address immigration had he wanted to. Mobilizing Latinos, Romney argued, was "certainly a big part of the equation."

The new immigration proposal tracks closely to a plan that had been developed by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, which Romney had said he was studying. Rubio is thought to be on the short list of candidates to become Romney's running mate this fall. Romney said on CBS that he had expected Rubio's proposal to be unveiled shortly, before Obama acted.

Rubio the VP favorite at conservative conference

Neither Romney nor McCain offered any specific outline of what the presumptive Republican nominee's alternative immigration plan would accomplish. The term "comprehensive" has long been a buzzword among conservatives who who oppose a process toward citizenship — or even some sort of legal status — for illegal immigrants, which they view as "amnesty."

McCain had long been a proponent of a variation of comprehensive immigration reform that offered a pathway toward citizenship. He admitted that conservative opposition was a "major factor" in felling past attempts at that kind of reform, but he also blamed Democrats' insistence on other measures opposed by Republicans as a factor.

Really?

That's not what Willard was saying during the primaries!

Oh, and then there is this little morsel where once again he refuses to answer a question;

WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney criticized President Barack Obama Sunday for failing to pass long-term immigration reform through Congress, but he repeatedly refused to say whether he would overturn Obama's decision to end deportations for some young undocumented immigrants if he becomes president.

Repeal & Replace isn't going to work with immigration anymore then is will with ACA!

See, here's the problem, sooner or later you are going to have to tell us what you plan on replacing it with...

I wasn't too far off when I posted this yesterday. Poor Romney had to burn the midnight oil to prepare for interviews this morning. Must have been a knuckle-biting sleepless night having to address immigration and having to face the nation on a non-Fox news program.

It was the right thing to do, and it was also a brilliant and shrewd political move. Caught poor Romney so off guard, he will be spending all weekend on damage control. Touche, Obama, you managed two birds with one stone, as the saying goes.

Romney is getting crucified across the boards for his appearance this morning. Even Bill Kristol said Romney is in a tough spot on immigration. It's a loser for him. Romney said some pretty nasty things about these young illegal immigrants who just want a better future for themselves. Pretty pretty nasty. He is no leader for America. What he feels is not what America wants to portray to the world. President Obama did what was right. The GOP never do.

And this comment I saw over @ The Huffington Post pertaining to something Romney evidently said during his appearance:

"We've got to have people who are willing to put aside the partisanship, stop worrying about the next elections, and say, `You know what? We've got to fix the country fast.'

************

If Romney said this, then he stole it. This is practically WORD FOR WORD what I wrote yesterday quoting a comment made by President Obama that was highlighted over at DailyKos:

Stop worrying about the election and start worrying about the next generation.

That's what he does. He STEALS democratic talking points, even ours here on First Read.

He has no core values. Rich people never do. They just want a dictatorship and keep us all in line. Well, it ain't gonna work.

Bet he can't wait to see healthcare overturned. An awful lot of families are going to be hurt if it is overturned.

Obama. He is the only person in this country standing in the way of the rich stomping on us for good. People who vote R are blind. The GOP is only for the wealthy. And if Mitt wins, he will owe his money handlers big time. Not we the people. Just the rich.

Issues where Romney has yet to state his position:
VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT – Said he is not familiar with the issue
PAYCHECK FAIRNESS ACT - Refused to say if he for or against
PAYROLL TAX HOLIDAY - I'm not going to throw gasoline on what is already a fire
MISSISSIPPI PERSONHOOD - Repeatedly refused to take a position on this bill
AFGHANISTAN - Leave it up to U.S. military commanders
IMMIGRATION - Still deciding what his position is and won't say if he will undo the EO

All buzz words for cut, remove, or tighten.

Look for some phony boloney plan on immigration that doesn't give a path to citizenship, or if it does it will take 25 years, but will allow unlimited guest workers for the corporations.

He also might know that even with a Republican majority in both Houses, the Presidency, and the Supreme Court, this failed miserably back in 2003. Or, maybe that tidbit is just another on the huge pile that Romneycare considers unimportant information.

Mitten's GREAT ADVENTURE!

Mittens, who is more accustomed to the rarefied atmosphere at a Dressage Event, where other every day folks like he and little Annie gather with their Warmbloods, who go for the high six figures, was AMAZED when he saw a touch screen where he could order what?

HIS VERY OWN SANDWICH! MADE JUST THE WAY HE WANTS IT!

Will these miracles NEVER cease?

Why Mittens was stunned at the very convenience! He ordered a sandwich with chicken and bologna. He wanted to make sure that he was well fortified to continue to avoid any difficult questions on immigration, and bologna helps him to blather on, as though he were full of the same!

NewDayDawning: THE ARISTOCRATS

As millions tune into the Olympics in prime time this summer, just before Mr. Romney will be reintroducing himself to the nation at the Republican convention, viewers are likely to see “up close and personal” segments on NBC about the Romneys and dressage, a sport of six-figure horses and $1,000 saddles. The Romneys declared a loss of $77,000 on their 2010 tax returns for the share in the care and feeding of Rafalca, which Mrs. Romney owns with Mr. Ebeling’s wife, Amy, and a family friend, Beth Meyers.

So the Romneys wrote off more than $30,000 in horse-related losses last year than the average yearly household income.

What will happen to low income households if health care is overturned? Meanwhile, the Thurston Howells will hang out at the Olympics while Mrs. Obama continues with her work alongside Mrs. Biden with our veterans, trying to get them into the workforce. They already succeeded in getting them better health care.

Think Progress:

Kristol’s transformation, however, closely maps the GOP’s efforts to paper over their recent anti-immigrant positions as the November election draws nigh. During the primary, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney campaigned with the former hate group attorney that wrote Arizona and Alabama’s harsh immigration laws — on Martin Luther King Day. This morning, however, Romney twice refused to say whether he would reverse Obama’s recently announced pro-immigrant policy. As Kristol put it this morning on Fox, the Republican standard bearer’s hardline past on immigration is a “big problem for Romney.”

Pat: isn't that the dirty little secret? So much of the costs can be written off. Rafalco spends his time with trainers, in a stable being bored out of his mind with schooling. Annie and Mittens have NOTHING to do with the success of this horse, except write checks. This horse would not know them.

Mine on the other hand, was born and raised on our place. First person she saw was me. First person on her back was my daughter. When she was grown enough, her schooling was MINE to do.

And when I whistle, she comes, from wherever she is in the pasture.

Exactly what this nation needs. More and more populations of planet gobbling breeders. The more and more equate to the less and less for all. More crowding, more pollution, more traffic, longer lines, more crime, more problems, more drain on the middle class and less leisure time and less quality of life for all while human hordes are killing every reason the Earth supports all life. Our ever soaring human populations are literally devouring the natural surface of the Earth, natural resources, and mankind's only "life-supporting" cycles, services and systems or life itself.

The one thing this nation does not need is more problems and more human bodies to feed, clothe and house. Many middle class Americans have selected not to have children because they can't afford it. Yet, we sure take in all of Mexico's problems. This send me your poor and hungry is stealing the quality of life for legal Americans. We should focus on quality and not quantity.

It works well if you're an incredibly lazy person and don't want to actually make the effort to study all the issues. What is he going to do when things get serious and he's asked to actually state a position during the debates? Telling everybody that he'll tell them after he get's elected won't do it for him. So where is your criticism of President Obama for doing basically the same thing. Rubio is already working on actual legislation that would accomplish much the same thing. With a book coming out on Monday all of the attention over this issue would have gone to Rubio and the republicans. So Obama sticks his nose up at our system of government solely for the purpose of stealing the spotlight. Re-election is the only thing on his mind. He will do anything to pander to those whose votes he needs just like he did in 08. Hard to criticize Romney for doing it if you aren't even more critical of our President. After all, Romney's just a candidate without any power, Obama is the President pushing policy that has no purpose other than to buy votes.

In other words he has no plan. Like every thing he whines about, ask him for his solution...he has none. First deport, now flip flop..."rendered moot" ........huh? Flip Flop Mitt once more!

I am so sick and tired of these politicians using the Hispanics or African Americans for their politicial gain. These people (voters) better wake up.!!!!!!! For the Politicians and our Government why don't you morons control and secure our borders First, Dont you elected officials comprehend that? If any illegal immigrant wants to be a part of this country then learn english and serve the military for 3-4 years to earn your rights in the USA but to offer these illegals speacial fringe benefits on tax payers dime, that I am totally against. The law is the law and these politicians better shape up or be voted out.

Here is what Mr. Obama said last year:

“With respect to the notion that I could suspend deportations through executive order, that's just not the case, because there are laws on the books that Congress has passed and I know that everybody here
at Bell is studying hard so you know we have three branches of government. Congresses passes the law. The executive branch's job is to enforce and implement those laws and then the judiciary has to interpret the law. There are enough laws on the books by Congress that are very clear in terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system, that for me through simply an executive order ignore those mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as president.” - President Barak Obama, in March of 2011.

The problem with Romney is can't tell the truth, one minute he says he would deport everyone who is here illegally, then today he would have some type of immigration reform, can't wait for that one. He talks about Obama and jobs, maybe he should look at his record in MA, ranked 37th in the nation when he left. He says Obama is out of touch, well, to me Romeny is out of touch, the middle class is the core of this economy, we need to make descent wages, we will spend, the businesses will hire and our economy will take off. Oh lets not forget the poor, "I'm not worried about the poor, their are safety nets". All Romney wants to do is get rid of govt. job(more job loses), give more tax breaks for those making $200, 000 year, while the rest of us will be taxed to death, I thought the good old boys hated taxes(Norquist).

The people have to decide who to vote for, are you for the rich or middle class, tax the middle class, poor, seniors, disabled, or tax breaks for the rich, deport or not deport immigrants, keep plan parenthood open to help those who do not have insurance, or get rid of the all together, end all wars and bring our troops home, or just let the commanders figure it our(Romney quote), Obama's job bill which would put thousands of teacher, policemen, firefighter, construction workers back to work and it would help businesses thrive, or like Romeny said, we don't need anymore teachers, policemen, firefighters this President is so out of touch I thought he wanted to put people back to work, maybe he will flip flop on this somewhere along the line.

Don't forget Congress, the do nothing, party of NO, and the ones who said they would not pass one single bill until after the election(Repub. & teaparty promise), sounds like they are keeping their promise, they will do everything no matter who it hurts just as long as Obama is a one term President, makes me wonder if they are deliberately trying to sabatoge the economy, jobs ect...

And he said he has never vote for any Democrat and this year will be his first, How's that for being so discouraged, but then this guy is very smart and I respect him for using his brain and not just voting party lines ....

KimH...wrote..."Too bad the Indians weren't able to do a better job of kicking the white man's ass.

If you knew anything about Native American history, you would know that all tribes made war against each other, killing each other, torturing and mutilating each other, and taking taking captives/slave of each other. Indian lifestyles all were based upon survival of the fittest, where all males were raised to kill as many enemies as they could. The more kills/coups of the natives the higher the status was among the tribe/band, which gave them certain rights like marrying. The U.S. was not perfect...however the Native Americans were much worse between themselves the the U.S. government.

"Comprehensive" = "mass deportations of tens of millions" according to the GOP..

President Obama was 100% clear in what he said. To bad the GOP are all old and foggy and can't hear anymore. President Obama said, this is NOT a path to amnesty. Not a path to citizenship.. So what is the problem?

The GOP think that by making anyone and everyone who doesn't kowtow to them, illegal in one way or another. If you're gay, well the GOP will find a way to make them 3/5th of a person, like the olden days. "wink wink" right McCain..

Mittens thinks CONgress will actually work with him. LMAO.. There are 535 individuals who don't give a rats ass about this nation or anyone else but themselves. CONgress, especially the House of Misrepresentation should go back to part time work, like it used to be.

A Wormney Presidency would bring war with Iran, which will bring war with China and Russia. A Wormney Presidency would bring unemployment of 10%+ by the end of year 1. Gas would be $8-$12/gallon within the first year and shortly after the Iranian invasion led by lies propagated by Israel. They dragged us into 9-11 & Iraq.. It was Israels lies to Colin Powell and the UN that led to our misguided attempts to tie 9-11 & Iraq together.. A Wormney Presidency would also have him running the Mormon church from inside the WH. A Wormney Presidency would end America and this fragile recovery.

Wormney or Obama. The choice is clear. One cares about America and her people. One cares about cash and profits, Hate and intimidation. One cares about putting people back to work without strings. The GOP only want to give jobs to the poor and middle-class if and ONLY if the rich get the permanent tax cuts.. The GOP or Gods Only People care about war and hatred and control.. They care more about morality and the unborn than they care about reality and the already living.

the issue was "manufactured" by Republicans. They have use illegal immigration issues any time THEY want to divert attention from the 4.2 million jobs that were created due to Obama policy the downward trending UI the lower rate of spending, the lower deficit than when he took office.

Thats how the "illegals taking all our jobs" came about.

Obama has been highly successful, especially in the face of our traitorous right wing who has decided to try and bully their way back into power.

President Obama has not failed in anything he has done. Repubs pledged to bring the economy down the day after his election. Never in history has this happened before. Repubs pledged that they needed to act the way the Taliban does, to act like the insurgents to take the economy down to make President Obama a one term president. Repubs planned just like Bin Laden wrote in his plan, take the american economy down to destroy the nation. 14-15 repubs...just like...BIN LADEN. Ref: Richard Draper new book.

Chuck1968

They have use illegal immigration issues any time THEY want to divert attention from the 4.2 million jobs that were created due to Obama policy the downward trending UI the lower rate of spending,

What you don't understand is that job growth is required just to maintain current levels of unemployment. Republicans sure as hell do not want to divert away from the 4.2 million jobs because that level of growth is literally the minimum required. That is why those 4.2 million jobs has not lowered the unemployment rate one bit. Basically the job growth under Obama is anemic and you can bet the republicans will focus on it even if some people are naive enough to be conned into believing it is a positive.

...the lower deficit than when he took office.

Here's your problem, you listen to politicians. Lower deficit? Deficit spending is at an all time high, literally unprecedented levels. Bush averaged 410 billion per year in deficit spending Obama has jacked that up to well past 1 trillion per year, double hat Bush was doing. Here's the trick, Bush increased deficit spending by well more than double what Clinton was doing so that's how they con you. Bush increased it by say 4 times as much whereas Obama "only" increased it by 2 times as much. Do you really think that is the same thing as a "lower deficit"?? Of course you don't. no one could be that stupid after they actually see how the numbers con works.

I would rather have someone that change laws just to get votes or satisfy their wives or kids. Laws are made for a reason. Enforce them! If you feel it necessary to come up with new laws, put them to a vote where we can decide if your ideas will work for (us) American Citizens! Some of these post merit a idiot badge. To support Obama who has put us more into debt then any president in the history of the U.S. is moronic, to state that somehow Obama is firm in his beliefs and Romney is any different is dumb because both change according to what will give them the best votes (oh wait, Obama according to the press that is so far up his a$$ he does not change he evolves in his thinking), I do not think that Romney will have a hit list like Obama (funny how the press leaves that alone, but if Bush had such a list they would have gone crazy. Nothing but a bunch of hypocrites). In regards toward immigration if anyone believes that Obama did this for any other reason then political is both stupid and needs some new brain cells (the truth is Obama cares for nothing but Obama).

What we need to ask if we can handle another 5 to 10 trillion debt load (I believe Obama will do everything in his power to bury us so far in debt it will ruin us because he will not worry about reelection but rather pushing his liberal agenda down our throats if we like it or not), can we maintain our current unemployment rate (and this will go up much further if these illegals that he is rewarding for breaking the law and trespassing into our country have their numbers counted), last- without being held back by a possibility of reelection I am worried that Obama will ignore the constitution that he supposedly taught (even though he seems to know nothing about it), and will skirt it at every attempt to take away our rights and put more czars that are put into power outside the confines of the constitution to dictate how we eat, what we watch and start to infringe on other parts of our lives. Personally I do not think we can handle another four years and stay a viable country, Obama if given his way will turn us into another once great country now on the verge of a third world country (look at the European countries he so much wants to set on the same path as, they are all at the door of financial ruin and anarchy).

I agree with you Tbenton, some of these posts deserve an idiot badge.

What's astonishing to me is that everyone spins EVERYTHING according to the results they want to elicit. Very few posted what the REAL issue is in immigration. WE NEED TO CLOSE AND CONTROL OUR BORDERS! Then, and only then, can we deal with how to fix the cultural and immigration problems in the US. Do I think we should deport the kids of parents who came here illegally, when it's no fault of their own? Nope, and it wouldn't solve the problem anyway. The fact that Obama hasn't taken steps to actually control our borders shows he is as ineffective as all other Presidents, Democratic or Republican on this issue.

Wonderful how Obama took Rubio's ideas as his own and pre-empted him, all in the name of politics and re-election. Wow, just wow, but he didn't come up with his own policies for this issue.

I'm hoping Romney kicks Obama out of office, for the simple reason that we can't afford (or I should say my kids can't afford) four more years of him, especially when he wouldn't be worried about re-election.

Hes comfortable lying out the front back and side of his mouth all at the same time.

He is putting a band-aid in the middle of an open wound, this is just cheap politic to buy Latino votes in swing states. This is hypocritical and goes against his base , the young African American, whose level of unemployment is over 20%. Romney is "evolving" his position about immigration , however he never was against a comprehensive reform , he only demand close the border first, status verification from employers and deport the bad guys. Is it right for anyone and I mean ANYONE to circumvent the laws of this country? Would these children who are here illegally give up their parents for citizenship? Of course not! So it makes sense, that these children of illegal immigrants are still benefiting regardless. The parents can still come here without any repurcussions. It doesn't deal with the immigration problem at all; only puts it away until after the re-election.

Obama caters to the hispanic vote, and doesn't care about the rest of the country!!!!!!

Wake up Mr. President! Your foolish laws mean nothing to us!!!!!! We are only biding our time till November!!!!!!!!

This is just more MSNBC garbage to take heat off the President and everyone knows it!!!!!!!

I think the Mexicans who were not born in this country and all other illegals, should have to do it the way everyone else has to do it. Come into this country with a passport and seek to become a citizen and there should be a requirement that everyone should speak and understand English, period.

Ok, Maureen, then everyone who vacations in any European country, or travels through what is called "Indian Country" here in the "Western Hemisphere" (we call the "Reservations"; they are actually lands reserved via Treaty for the use of Sovereign Nations) should be REQUIRED to have a passport AND speak and understand the language of the country they happen to be in. Here's a hint for ya, Maureen:

In "Indian Country", there are more than 50 languages, and an average of more than three separate dialects for each of those languages. Good luck next time you decide to drive anywhere in the U.S.A and HAVE TO use a road that just happens to go through an Indian Reservation, Maureen.

p.s., There are no "Mexicans" living the U.S. who were born in the U.S. because EVERYONE born in the U.S. is a U.S. Citizen. Look it up in the Constitution of The United States of America.

Feisty doesn't belong on this newsvine. It should be off limits to those who work for MSNBC.

As for everything else, my cousin will finally be coming to this country after waiting 15 years for her papers. The first thing I'm going to tell her after she gets her citizenship is why it took so long. How the Obama administration/democrats wanted to screw her out of her American Dream because they felt that it was easier to deal with those who came to this country illegally rather than having law abiding citizens come first.

She's going to find out the hard way that only stupid people obey the law while the rest of the immigrants are no different than the politicians. It's all done for votes!!!!

A great many goper's have taken to The Slow Rush's NEW argument that the "left" is panicking. I do not see panic anywhere but from The Slow Rush's right. ; ] You see why would there be any need to panic? Hmm. Women, Hispanic, Blacks, Indians, and college educated people in general are not voting gop my friends. True enough Mr. Romney is out raising President Obama in cash super pacs. Even when they all cried loudly about President Obamas billions in cash on hand. But where is it? Who knows.

What I do know is Mr. Romney is already done. The choice is made and history already written. And although such a lack luster candidate that BARELY won his electorate has been chosen by default for most in his own party, it is only the illusion of choice for the heard. The heard of folks who just want argument and fighting to continue. Those who despise problem solving and working together those unable to set aside difference for compromise. And what I already know and you in question will soon find out is there really is more of US than you.

Panic?.. Ha ha... Because panic is seen in suppressing the vote, panic is seen in a republican justice charge to repeal a law that stood for 65 years was it? Panic is the gop trying to buy elections while quashing opposition turn out and saying NO to everything all the while throwing the uneducated the proverbial bone of anti abortion anti gay and women are inferior non sense. PANIC my good friends is seen in the dictatorship in Michigan now. Because in the end it is all they have EVER had to go on.

God made time move forward for a reason my friends.. ;] So why do Evangelicals and the right continue to insist on taking us backwards? Hmm. Indeed. ; ]

        Cheers!

        AppeasersFate

This is war between the peace loving American citizens and the drug pushing, border jumping, Mexicans who want to steal US resources.

Umm....really? PEACE LOVING!?! Have you been living under a rock somewhere in a vast desert, that you are completely unaware of all the wars that the "peace loving American citizens" have willingly and willfully started and joined just so they can be called "Patriotic"?

Regarding "American resources", just which "America" are you referring to? Is it North, Central or South America?

As for the drug pushers and border jumping -- better take a long look at what many U.S. Citizens do in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona: They cross the border with a passport, too. Remember back on 30 September of 2010 when the vacationing couple in Texas were attacked by a "Mexican drug gang" while they were boating and jet-skiing on Falcon Reservoir on the Rio Grande? The U.S. Citizens happened to be on the MEXICAN side of the reservoir when it happened -- because THEY decided that they somehow did not have to go through Customs just to go jet-skiing where they wanted to go jet-skiing. Yes, "AppeasersFate", those U.S. Citizens flat IGNORED the International Boundary Markers in that reservoir.

It is all about the votes. No politician really cares anything about illegal aliens but if you can grant amnesty and get a vote go for it. They are as sleazy as used car salesmen. Anything to make the sell to a stupid customer. And we know who the stupid customer is right? I do not feel as if I should have to pay down the road for what should be fixed today. It's the method that gets President Obama in trouble. Why in the heck did he not do this when he had a super majority. President Bush tried to but couldn't get past the conservative base. President Obama could have done this with minority Republican support. He didn't need Republicans as Obama Care proves but he would have gotten some moderate support. Now the only thing he has to show for his super majority is Obama Care which is most likely going to be struck down. None of the scumbags that collapsed our economy have been punished.

He admits he played politics when he voted against raising the debt ceiling as senator. He hasn't closed Gitmo. He uses drones to kill people, somehow that is more humane than waterboarding. He voted against the surge. He wants 4 million public sector jobs even though Europe and California are going bankrupt because of public jobs. He raises tons of money from wall street but is anti corporation. The banks are sitting pretty but good old USA corporations are villainized. He saved Chrysler so Fiat could take them over. Instead of a structured bankruptcy in the auto industry he pandered to the unions at the expense of the workers. He takes credit for ending the Iraq war even though he followed Bush's withdraw plan. Wake up people, he is the worst kind of politician.

Only reform needed is to round up all illegals deport them, close the borders and no more immigrants at all. That's the solution this country really needs. To many traitors would side with them though.

I must address a simple minded idea of deport all illegals. I will tell you it doesn't do America ANY good to do so. History tells us and shows us all WHY we as the country of America need illegal immigrants. It is hidden in the look the other way policy for decade after decade. To use illegal immigrants as a scapegoat for why the economy has failed is hogwash. A LIE! When we all lived through the housing wall street insurance company debacle's.

The illegal under the table paid immigrant gives the start up little guy a leg up to compete with the big guy the cooperate guy. All of the tax breaks and incentives that the "rich" corporations etc get , well the little guy does not have access to them because of the rate or lack there of of capital. BUT! That can be made up to a large degree by under the table pay and the slight rate differential paid to an illegal immigrant who would still make MORE by CHOICE then he or she would in there home country. It is why it has been as it has for sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long period[.].. Because it works. ;]

Take contractors in the housing boom for instance. How can a little guy compete with a corporate company building houses? One house to ten houses? Not cutting it. But to grow like the gop CLAIMS it wants sooooo many Americans used illegal labor and grew to match those companies which keeps monopolization of industries to a minimum. And besides my example there are so many instances from restaurants to hotels cleaning companies etc. ; ]Farms anyone? Hmmm. ; ]

So do yourself a favor and realize your hate and misguided party loyalty means squat. Your blind to facts of decade after decade. Deaf to what it is that allows a Congressional hearing of Jamie Dimon who was a HUGE part of the downfall of our economy in the first place, gets treated with a slap instead of a handcuff and baton. Your stuck in the politics that keeps this government from moving forward and in turn moving the countries private market backwards.. ;]

A shame you same folks cannot recognize a bust out, let alone have the morals or principals to stand on yourself. Or NONE of you would have "settled" for Mr. Romney would you. Hmm

                Cheers

"What I would do, is I'd make sure that by coming into office, I would work with Congress to put in place a long-term solution for the children of those that have come here illegally,"

Interestingly, the only other significant 'immigration reform' bill was by a Republican President (Reagan), working in a bipartisan manner with a Democratic Congress.

Perhaps Hispanics should consider voting for Romney if they want any REAL chance for immigration reform.

Obama's move is pure politics - if he really wanted this, he should have done it 3 years ago - not 4 months before an election - and his move could be cancelled in only 7 months - leaving those young people in limbo, again - actually in far worse shape because Obama's plan requires that they self-identify as illegal immigrants and give the government all of their personal information (name, address, etc.), making them prime candidates for deportation. Obama could be putting them at risk - all for a cheap, cynical political stunt.

And in spite of his 'rhetoric' about job 'creation', the official government Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that 1.3 million FEWER people were working in May 2012 than when Obama took office.

Obama promotes self-deportation too. But Obama does it harming our economy. For illegal immigrants is more difficult each day get a job, especially in construction, the amount of money sent to their families has declined considerably, many have self-deported to their countries a and many others have chosen to not emigrate to US , for fear not find work. All this is misrepresented by Obama and his followers as an achievement, when it is only as a result of their economic failure , what a losers.

Exactly. Romneycare will do whatever his corporate masters tell him to do. He has never created a single job, yet he wants everybody to think that somehow, he would be able to do just flip a switch without spending a penny, and cut revenues at the same time.

But the people the Kock suckers are targeting don't have the critical thinking skills to understand this is nothing more than an empty promise.

Since our President announced that the government would no longer seek the deportation of immigrants who were illegally brought to the U.S. as children, under certain conditions. Romney now says he would pursue some type of comprehensive, long-term reform to America's immigration system after previously berating our President and had no answer to what he would do. Romney continues to use everything and anything that comes from our President as completely negative because of Romney’s lack of confidence in himself, failure to have solid road map for this country, lack of leadership.

I frankly hate both people on this issue.

Our borders are not secure. When you have people getting shot and killed at lakes in Texas, and a good chunk of Arizona wilderness and parks off limits because of drug smuggling and immigration mules it's clear this isn't a problem we can continue to ignore. Amnesty will not fix that problem either. We have to crack down on southern border security.

In addition to that, which NEITHER candidate has stated, you have to start including serious jail time and fines for EMPLOYERS who hire illegals. Until you put the people encouraging illegal immigration into a 6x6 box and take their companies and their homes away from them you're not going to ever really stem the tide.

                  Fact,

Actually it's an excellent plan, or at least getting them out of the workforce is an excellent plan.

First off yes there will be pain in the beginning. Because an American will not pick strawberries at 4 bucks an hour. But they will pick them at $15 to $20. That means the price of food goes up. Then guess what happens in the cities. They start saying that hey McD's and Walmart I can't work your job at 10 bucks an hour it doesn't pay for food. So McD's and Walmart will eventually have to pay 15 bucks an hour. That's how economies work. Illegal hiring and an illegal labor force actually depresses wages. We don't want to depress wages. We want pressure to increase wages, that's good for everyone in the long run.

Second, little statistical data, 74% of agricultural jobs are actually done by Americans, only 26% are on average done by illegals. So you're not replacing the entire work force, only a small part of it.

Third, the biggest problem where you actually have illegal hiring is in your food processing plants, canning facilities, slaughter houses and packing plants for beef, chicken, etc. That's also why you're having and seeing those e coli and salmonella outbreaks over the country every year. You're asking a group of people who have no idea about personal hygiene to handle your food. Trust me having a legal work force doing these jobs is in everyone's interest.

Deporting them all or not is a completely different matter, but getting them out of the workforce is not a bad idea.

You democrats are a bunch of morons for thinking Obama will finally enact his hope and change policy!

While I am not totally thrilled with Romney, I do believe he deserves a chance, much like we gave to President Obama. Obama hasn't done anything worth mentioning except cause our country to become more and more divided. An issue like illegal immigration is a strong issue that should have been addressed at the beginning of his Presidency. He has failed to put no laws into effect except to cater to illegals? Does he not even care, that the rest of the country is awaiting their relatives from other countries, those who will to come here legally? NO!!!!!! Because they are not in this country yet, he doesn't care at all.

My cousin will finally be arriving in the US after waiting for 15 years. The minute she gets her citizenship, we will be enlightening her on why it took so long and how this administration made her wait, while others got here for free!!!!!

Not worse if you are a 1%ter! I could list a hundred things Obama has done and a hundred more repubs have blocked, but your fake "I am trying hard to think what Obama has done" is so fake......disingenuise..funny fake as all hell. President Obama's accomplishments

Obama promotes will deport themselves. But Obama does it harm our economy. For illegal immigrants is more difficult each day get a job, especially in construction, the amount of money sent to their families has declined considerably, many have returned to their countries a and many others have chosen to not emigrate for fear not find work. All this is misrepresented by Obama and his followers as an accomplishment ,a big succes, when it is only as a result of their economic failure. They just foolish them self.

Romney changes what he says every other day..according to what he is told to say. Ihave yet the hear actual proposals for anything fromhim or the republican party..other than more tax cuts for their wealthy friends..and more trickle down economics..which cost this counrty over 600k in jobs that went elsewhere..and around 200k + in job losses per month here. Not counting cuts that help many of our own citizens. This used to be a country for "we the people"..today, it is for we the few at the top.

Welcome to the waffle house! Romney stands for NOTHING. All he will do from here on out is try to waffle away from everything he has said so far. Add up what he has said and it all cancels out. He has said NOTHING.

What is he good for? NOTHING.

As for all you "ship 'em back to Mexico morons", you are ignorant beyond belief. Immegration is the ONLY thing that will save us. We need MORE YOUNG PEOPLE to pay for all the old ones. OPEN THE BORDERS COMPLETELY. FREE IMMIGRATION FOR EVERYONE. THAT is how you grow a nation.

If your policies were followed in the past, YOU WOULD NOT BE HERE.

That is looking better and better all the time. I am looking at YOU, tea baggers.

Hell, the Republican's wouldn't even work with GW on immigration reform, and it is one issue that cost McCain his shot at the Presidency. You really think they are going to offer any sort of plan above mass deportations. There is a lead article in the Washington Post this morning talking about what has happened to Alabama businesses after they passed their tough immigration bill. None of us want illegal workers, but we all want the cheaper costs that they provide us as a result of their labors.

Hell, I can stand on a milk crate and scream about how we need immigration reform. In the end, its all just hot air with no substance to follow, just like Romney the candidate.

Let me ask a question: IS THERE ANYONE OF ANY INTELLIGENCE AT THE WHITE HOUSE WHO CAN MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION - I THINK NOT! AND YOU WANT TO GIVE THIS MAN AND HIS STAFF ANOTHER 4 YEARS? - ARE YOU ALL INSANE?????....I'll give obama this - he is real good at sound bites as he panders for voters. "Well, you know, when we get those jobs and cut those taxes, then we'll be fine. We don't want to say, "Gosh, where are the jobs? We want to, you know, have jobs for everyone, and once we do that, then we'll go ahead and fix the other things. Whichever is most important. Because, you know, the American people are saying, "Gosh, we want this stuff fixed, and I will be the fixer guy. I have the business experience. I have had a job in the private sector, and another one in the public sector, so I have experience on all of the sectors. Gosh."

Feisty, there is one thing I am sure of. History does in fact repeat itself. Funny isn't it how some in this country banged the drums for years how "We Won The Cold War" against the communists.

And now these very same people are looking for a society similar to what took place in Russia with regard to how they treat their people. We are the peasants who should be satisfied with low wages and whatever crumbs they want to throw our way. Health care?! That's for the rich.

Well, we're not going to stand for it.

As far as the health care Supreme Court decision goes, if they get rid of the mandate, then they will be getting rid of what the GOP wanted all along- the mandate. How ironic.

Good luck to Mitt/aka as Thurston Howell if this is overturned. People aren't going to like it. Not one bit. I see the conservatives on the Supreme Court and Mitt in the same light. Not a single thought to the welfare of our democracy. They're opting for a society sustained by the rich only. The rest of us can die because of lack of medical care or lack of decent wages.

As Stalin said, a single death is a tragedy, millions of deaths is a statistic - or something along those lines.

Meanwhile, Mitt flies on a corporte jet campaign stop to campaign stop. And he has the audacity to call it a bus tour.

Communists were real good at something - lying. Just like Mitt and the GOP.

Wow, bumbling Barry's sycophants are out in force today. Since he didn't have his own ideas on immigration he went ahead and stole Marco Rubio's before it could be proposed as legislation. That's pretty well noted in The Atlantic article from 2 days ago. Too bad Barry's imperial ukase isn't actually law. I guess he couldn't politically afford to work with the legislature to create a permanent solution, even though republicans were actually coming around, or maybe because they were. Still, this hasty move should come as no surprise from a president who seems to revel in making fast decisions that cost the taxpayers much, create little in terms of results, and in some cases are constitutionally questionable (stimulus, big taxpayer giveaways to crony corporations that fail, health insurance reform) I guess with a record like that Barry and his supporters have to resort to throwing mud at the other guy. At this point the only thing that you can really credit Barry with is three and a half years of experience running the United States - into the ground.

Feisty & Pat - Rubio is sycophant and is the poster boy for the Tea Baggers down here. He is like Romney in that he will do or say what ever he thinks a potential constituent wants him to do. I heard him last night on TV say he was born a Catholic, switched to Mormon, switched back to Catholic and now attends a Baptist church. I guess he is evolving.

Romeny does not need to give a knee jerk reaction to yet another thing Obama pulled out of his nowhere to get votes. He was working on a long term plan and should give it thought rather than the Obama way...like all good little Pelosi and Reid Democrats voting for a health care bill without reading it that will affect every single person legal or not for the rest of their lives. At the time the Democrats did NOT know that Obama personally would exempt 1200 groups of his friends/unions from the bill. At least they did not have to read this bill because there is NO bill/law. It is just a declaration to get votes.

I want a immigration bill that will FIRST take into consideration for the legal people that live and work here and need jobs. This by pass the congress just threw all legal Americans in that age bracket seeking employment including blacks who have the highest Unemployment rate under the bus.

If this is an example of what Obama meant when he told the Russians that after his next election he would have more flexibility what can be next?

Romney has a long term plan alright...and that plan is not to have a plan, and to not talk about his plan of not having a plan, because every plan that Romney planned, was not the plan, that he previously had planned.

Prresident Obama/Biden 2012....you can plan on that!

And I'm going to be hard core with you. They produce high quality labor at low cost and they cheat on their taxes. It doesn't get any better.

Arthur Laffer, conservative economist, in a speech delivered to the Heritage Foundation, a conservative "think tank" cum rich boys' club. There's the real GOP plan. The fake plan is to pretend they might actually do something about it.

I have a simple plan for illegals: MAKE THEM LEGAL.

THEN, let more and more and more into the country. Open the doors. Let the huddled masses breath free. You know the STUFF THAT MADE AMERICA GREAT.

No. The GOP would not be for that. That would mean opportunity for everyone, not immense wealth for the very few.

DISGUSTING. The GOP does not have the FAINTEST CLUE what made America great.

                            Here is an idea

Immigration- Build a fence on both borders, Make 100% of the materials for the fence manufactured in the US. Have a moratorium on new immigration. Have all immigrants register, must give fingerprint, DNA, documents from home country, resident address. They will pay 1500.00 fine and once all criteria is met the will be granted temporary citizenship. We will do background checks from the country or origin and if they are not criminals or fugitives they can stay after 7 sevens if they violate no law and file taxes they will be granted full citizenship. As for guest workers they will to the register, fingerprint, DNA and background check they will pay 500.00 dollars per year to work in the US. Anyone that doesn't comply will be deported immediately.

Why? Because if he were to take a position- then some conservative radio host with a hundred listeners will complain and then Willard will cave to him because he has no true convictions.

the right are so fortunate- with their selective memory. They successfully position themselves as the keeper of responsible econimics, but in reality they are responsible for the behavior they attack.

Government spending and government workers increase under W.- then decrease with Obama...yet Obama is the 'big government socialist'.

They hate Obama for cutting immigrants so much slack....but Obama has already deported more immigrants than W.

They hate Obama for his gun laws, even though gun laws have relaxed under his administration.

Its all BS and the 'liberal media' helps sell the narrative. They get away with everything.

Yes and the GOP just voted to stop the focus on deporting illegals that are violent criminals . Now why would they do that?

The House voted on Thursday to kill nearly every action by the Obama administration to reform the immigration enforcement system, approving amendments that would separate U.S. citizens from their undocumented spouses and end prioritization of deporting dangerous unauthorized immigrants.

hJack.......spouting the ol faux news false rant. Poor people pay all kinds of sale taxes on foods, clothing etc, but only the rich get to itemize those taxes so they end up not paying taxes on those in the long run. All the laws are skewed so the rich get tax breaks and loopholes to avoid paying taxes. Even Pres Reagan got ticked off when his rich friends told him they had all kinds of write offs and loopholes to use to end up paying NO Taxes at all. Peddle that false story to your faux news friends, it doesn't fly in the REAL world of journalism!

Hi Jean ..thanks.........I have a sister in Calif that is a teabagger all the way and as far right as a christian as can be. So I get all kinds of "God loves you" emails, then she sends me stories about how she hates everyone that Jesus loved......Painful sorrow for people like that. Then I have a brother that became a millionaire and completely hates everyone and everything he owns including family members. Nothing is good enough. Greed has overcome him so much , his only purpose to to get more money. The two most unhappy people I know. This blogging shows the same exact lesson. Rt wingers hate everyone that are not the same as them, and they worship greed. So a dash of Groucho Marx now and then is like taking a shot of Pepto Bismal while blogging........Sez me...!

If we allow illegal aliens 30 -years old and under to stay; how about deporting the illegal alien parents who knowingly broke our laws and put their kids into this situation?

I think that should be the trade off. If the younger stays; the parents should step up and be deported! They are a drain. No rewarding law breakers.

I wonder if Mitt will elaborate to his Hispanic voting base, a law that alienates Hispanic families, before election time?

I wonder if Mitt will be non-political and pick Marco Rubio, because he's VP material, and not because he's Hispanic?

I wonder if Mitt will keep the landscaping company that hires illegals, that he supposedly knew nothing about?

I wonder if Mitt will speak in Hispanic and take a photo-op of himself and family members going back to Mexico for old time sake to his father's birthplace?

I wonder if Mitt will show his real birth certificate to the public in good faith?

Bottom line is, NEITHER party wants to be responsible for immigration reform. This problem DID NOT start in 2008, it started way before then, and the last two presidents (Bush and Clinton), of different parties, did NOTHING. In a nut shell, it's the problem with the country. The only thing either party worries about is getting elected.

The power of the mis-information campaign has been staggering. Genafan may have a good point on the potential blowback. None the less, I support the Dream act. We should enact it.

If the Republicans win the White House, hold the House and capture the Senate, they would be idiots not to pivot in favor of some kind of immigration reform, gay marriage and pro choice not to mention a stimulus plan disguised as a domestic defense initiative. The "boomers" are passing by and they desperately need to appeal to generation X and Y. They would have an opportunity to relegate the Democrats to minority status for years to come. On the other hand, if they stick to "right" wing principles in the face of a changing world, they, too will be out in 2014.

Who cares what they look like if they win. The Republican Party is trying to redeem itself after the idiocy they showed during 8 years of Bush. They took a beating for that in 2008. Now, they had four options: (1) They could have supported Obama and if through their support Obama succeeded (however we want to define "succeed"), they would have validated the notion that their Party was irrelevant. The people would view Democrats as the savior. (2) They could have supported Obama and if Obama failed, the Republicans would look like part of the problem, (3) They could have obstructed Obama and if Obama succeeds, they are no worse off than they are now, essentially out of power, or (4) They could obstruct Obama at every turn to have him fail and then they win power. Guess that they chose--and, frankly, it is the right strategy for them to gain power. Now, to make sure that they marginalize Democrats for years to come, they need to accept the reality of demographic and economic changes, or they risk being out of touch and/or supporting dying "boomers". Boomers, whether you like it or not, demographic trends among younger voters favor minorities, gay rights, pro-choice, alternate energy and environmental protection. A party that ignores these trends will be relegated to the scrap heap of history. So, the real fools in this situation are the American people. We would have wasted 12 years (8 Bush and 4 Obama), avoiding solving our problems.

Like Willard says "talk is cheap, actions count". Obama is light years ahead of Wooden Mitt on immigration reform.

Holding out for "comprehensive reform" is a joke. It's another example of Republicans putting off what they only pretend to want to fix. I.e.: Health care reform.

And I love Senator Scott Brown's quote saying the President should work with Congress to form a comprehensive immigration reform deal. First, it's obvious, by the similar language, that Republicans have formed a coordinated attack on the issue. Secondly, the suggestion that this congress would work with our President on any issue, is laughable.

By my understanding given latin birth rates the US will be predominantly latino by 2050. At that point I cannot see where our constitution, government or standard of living differs from Mexico.

Extraordinary ignorance. Most of the Latinos here in the US now were born here, in many cases so were their parents. They've adopted the ways of the US, including our system of laws and Constitution, they speak English, many can't even speak Spanish! Those who have immigrated here and became citizens did so because they prefer our way of life.

So what will happen if Latinos become the new majority? Not much, maybe more Mexican restaurants and taco stands. Stop being so xenophobic and embrace diversity. it makes for a much more interesting and enjoyable life.

Yes the Mexican Mafia is a much bigger threat to us now than Iran, Iraq and Syria combined. They are taking over private US property all over the border areas for importing druds and the illlegals. We have the ruling elites to thank for this too. Once the US economy is completely destroyed it will be a fire sale for the real rich, not what the politicians are calling rich. Then they can bring in their Facso-commie-Nazi system of total control..

I remember back in the late 80's and 90's when Daddy Bush, Clinton and Gore were all yapping about how NAFTA would stop the illegals because it would lift both or our economies. We got suckered on that one too. and yes we have been hearing the sucking sounds of the jobs and the real economy going overseas

Sorry, Mexico is not a nasty place - on the contrary it is a beautiful and plentiful country. It is the people that make a country, not the coordinates and frankly with 30,000 good people already killed in Mexico over the last few years I do not want to see our once great nation follow, but it is already well on its way.

As for embracing change etc... fine, but lets start by abolishing ALL forms of welfare. Predominantly it is latinos who collect welfare and I for one am sick of it!

A good friend came here from Mexico as a child, excelled in school and went on to college. I worked with him as a programmer some years back while contacting with the company he worked for. When he needed a job I gladly recommended him, not because I am xenophobic but because he was a great engineer and an asset to our team, so cut the racist craap!!!

I just wish he were an example to ALL latinos. You are not here for a welfare check but for an opportunity to do great things!

Coco...not one of those bills is a jobs bill.....as repubs screamed they would be putting forth. Giving tax breaks to the rich bills are officially over. 72% of americans want the rich to pay more taxes. Killing Social security, Medicare and the Post Office, and giving more tax breaks for the rich while making the middle class and poor pay for the rich tax breaks......are not on the table.

Did anybody else see John McCain speak on the issue yesterday? He is repeating the lie that Obama had two years of a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate, yet didn't enact comprehensive immigration reform; something never even attempted while Bush the lesser had 6 years of control over all branches of government. We've come to learn what his priorities were.

Sorry folks, but this type of continued nonsense is becoming pathetic.

I'm not sure Obama's stance actually garners him that many votes. After all, those Hispanics who are voting are a) already US citizens and b) over the age of 18. Not kidding, that was an argument on another board, that Obama was trying to get the Hispanic high school student vote. Talk about a minority. Any who, I just wonder how many Hispanic US citizens have close ties to another country that this is a benefit for them. My thought is that most of them have been here for many generations, just like many other Americans and this is really something for future elections, say 2016 and beyond.

You're correct. What President Obama has doe is force Mitt to actually say something, even if he was incredibly vague. I think it was a brilliant maneuver on the Presidents part. The conservatives going nuts over this would never vote for him anyway but it does solidify his Latina base. I just love how the conservatives are reacting to this. They're coming so unstuck there are parts falling off of them.

This is an incredible perfect storm. Twist in the wind Mitt.

Got it right except for "reincarnation", that isn't part of Mormon doctrine.

Romney is being deliberately vague, trying not to offend anyone, hoping people will apply their own biases to those vague pronouncements and think Mitt favors their position, whatever it is. Of course, for those who are paying attention to actual words, it only reinforces Romneys image as a pandering, wishy-washy, flip-flopping, political weathervane.

I have two questions about this issue. 1. Is it fair to condemn a child to life in prison or death for a crime committed by their parents? In most cases these children are brought here by their parents and have no vote about where they have to grow up. Often they are not even speaking a language very well when they arrive here so they tend to adopt our language as their primary language because that is predominantly what they grow up with. If we send them back as teens to a country torn by violence and poverty with no family to care for them and barely able to understand the language there that is about the equivalent of condemning them to a life of suffering and perhaps even death.

                                        2. How can we be so two faced as to allow those seeking political asylum admittance here but turn away a nearly helpless child who grew up here and has a vested interest in this nation? I have several friends who have lived through this. Unfortunately one has died as a result of a gun battle near her home and the others have struggled all of their lives just to survive. They have also developed a severe hate and distrust for everything American now as they mature because of how they were treated as children. They are now potentially going to become the leaders of their country. We reap what we sow don't we?

From my experience, many Mexicans do not adopt American values or way of life. They go back and forth to Mexico often missing lots of school - not wanting to make up the work, and they get financial assistant in school with free or reduced lunches, school fees, etc. They are not quite Americans because their families do not want them Americanized; however as shepherdo886 indicated they don't quite belong to their home countries either. What does this leave us? A bunch of teens who are angry, not sure where they belong and will find the "wrong type of people" and cause problems. They grow up poor, without wanting to conform to American ideals since this means they are turning their backs on their home countries, have problems speaking English while loosing their home language as well, have problems finding work since they struggle with the language and have a horrible language as well, and turn to a life of crime because they don't get a good life here. We are keeping these people down because they don't fit in since they are not quite legal. If we are going to let them stay, we need to treat them like every other American. It is when we have the attitute that you don't quite belong here, cause much tension in these communities. Of course, their attitutes affect this as well.

Not sure what the answer is, but what we are doing isn't working; therefore, it is stupid to keep doing the same thing and wonder why nothing is getting better. I personally am tired of Spanish speaking need to apply. This is what causes some of the rifts. They don't want to become like us, they want us to become like them. Love America and embrace it, or get out.

Every election cycle is the same: during primaries the candidates talk 'tough' in nearly-racist terms against immigrants, in order to get support (i.e. money) from the base, then once the primaries are over they do an about-face, soften their rhetoric, and learn Spanish. Mitt Romney is no exception. Remember how 'tough' then Texas governor Bush promised to be on immigration in 2000, only to offer a 'path-to-citizenship' by the 2004 election cycle because he needed Hispanic voters?

Romney's point, along with Republicans, is that an incumbent president should not do anything in his or her fourth year. After all, Republicans in the House have taken the last two years off so as not to appear to be political..

We do remember that 14 repubs secretly met the day after Obama's inauguration and pledged to vote against every bill that would help the economy to take down our nations economy just like Bin Laden planned in writing. 14 repub terrorists said they needed to use the same plan the Taliban used......Ref Richard Draper new book. Ryan, Cantor, DeMint and Gringrich to name a few of the traitors.

Now that's just old fashioned retarded. Obama had control of both the house and the senate for 2 years and failed to do anything with his own party in control. That is pathetic. Americans voted you retards (liberals) out in 2010 and they are about to do it again this year. Don't worry welfare won't be taken away from you yet...

Romney told the Hispanic audience that while on this tour, the busload always stop for lunch at Taco Bell, where he and his wife also celebrate their wedding anniversaries.

                                          Romney says:

"Hispanics have always been in my heart. In fact, I was recently baptized for the soul of that great Hispanic American hero, Hugo Chavez. Excuse me... It's been a long day, and one of my staff caught my mistake. Of course I meant Cesar Chavez. However, Hugo Chavez is my favorite major league baseball player and I just recalled his name at the wrong moment. If there were no Hispanics in major league baseball, there sure ought to be".

Mexican heroes like Pancho Villa who killed innocent Americans citizens inside the US in the early part of the 20th Century should be discussed. Mexico should be made to pay reparations! We are still waiting for an apology for Mexico killing helpless American immigrants in Texas at the Alamo and Goliad.

What a joke, whatever issues you have with the president Obama, surely they can't be so bad that you would actually vote for Romney - this guy is a joke, vote against your own interests if you dare, but Romney is worse than GBII.
