Morgs took the advice .. and got a solid grip on himself, starting humming "I touch myself", and now the poor thing can't let go. He/She, if nothing, is tenacious.
Speaking of Etch-A-Sketch Express bus tours, I hear moveon.org is following the bus in a Cadillac with a dog cage tied to the top. Hysterical!!
That was creepy, and indicative of the craziness this week. Speaking of good conspiracy theories, there must be some A.L.E.C./Rove website for GOP/TP posters that publishes unsubstantiated talking points of the week. And like a good weed, no matter how much Roundup (facts) you use to stamp out the faux points, they keep popping up over and over again. I'll admit, this was a record week in adding the idiot savant posters to the ignore list. I hope their isn't a limit to the number of names that can be added.
Cheers all you DDI-ers - Have a fantastic week, and an even better Happy Pappy Day!!
Reagan was the last President to grant amnesty to illegals; that is why the name is mentioned. There was nothing disrespectful in Neal Grimes saying that Reagan is dead; he is, afterall, dead. No, I am not picking on anyone with this comment, I simply find it odd that anyone is offended because it was duly noted that Reagan is dead. So is George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and the Beatle's John Lennon and saying it is not disrespectful.
Speaking of Etch-A-Sketch Express bus tours, I hear moveon.org is following the bus in a Cadillac with a dog cage tied to the top. Hysterical!!
Cool! I suggested that Stephen Colbert use his Super PAC to buy some cheap knock-off buses and paint these like Romney's bus with Etch-a-Sketch Express on the sides, and then park these in the areas Romney visits. And before some rightwing posts self-righteous outrage, Romney's bus has been going to places where the president is speaking and driving around honking the horn.
Romney must be delirious with joy to plot "pranks" with Rove and Teapublicans in congress. In reality Rove, the establishment, even Teabaggers don't care for Romney, but no doubt the fool is beside himself thinking they share camaraderie. Yeah, these are leaders, acting like children.
@True - love the Cobert superpac idea. Speaking of Cobert, did you see his clip on Anne's fancy-clop Olympic horsie with Romney and Anne driving to London with the horse tied to the roof. About fell of the stool laughing over that one.
Nuns on the Bus - that was great to watch on O'Donnell. Good to see there are 'sane' sides to the Catholic Church these days. With all the political nonsense they have been pulling as of late, I am beginning to wonder if they are truly apolitical.
I just read your post on the other thread about the reporter who was such an ass, works for a company Daily Caller that is run by Tucker Carlson. The Tucker Carlson I know is MN born and breed....
I know lots about Tucker Carlson, the son of former Governor Arnie Carlson and his first wife , Barbara"Babs" Carlson. the diva of am talk radio back in the 80"s. OMG , that Tucker Carlson who went to Cretin Catholic High School and was legendary for his outrageous garb and pranks. He brought a Las Vegas call girl to one of his father's dinners while he was governor. Babs was really funny and talked about her family all the time on the radio,to the embarrassment of the governor.
So that's what happened to him after he left CNN.....he is in the big times with one of his writers part of the press pool at the White House.... and can't wait for the local paper tomorrow....
Well I had an afternoon of business to take care of and to be quite honest sat down for a while out of the hue and cry and watched me a beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain sunset to cap off a good day. So I hope that my Friends and Neighbors won’t be too far in their cups or mind that I’m late to the dance down at the Dew Drop Inn this evening.
So let’s raises a glass or three to my Dear Old Redneck Daddy since it is a day to celebrate Fatherhood this Sunday.
Daddy was a big old rawboned feller of a type not seen very much anymore. His eyes and hands had seen the violence of his times yet were gentle enough to bring a little lamb or calf into this world.
Not a real religious man he was however a very spiritual person. He was connected to his land and nature in ways that were hard to describe. He believed in working hard and getting paid fair for it. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Most of the time his Church was up on the Ridge setting under a tall oak tree. It gave him peace and grounded him he said.
He hated a lie, an innuendo and a half truth. If he was going to come for you he was going to do it straight up and from in the front. Weren’t no backbiting in him. If he didn’t like you you knew it and right now. If he did like you you had no better or more loyal friend in this world.
Hated abuse of any kind. Man belittleing his wife or worse. Abusing an animal. Shucks in my house the day wasn’t done until the animals were taken care of big to small. The beating or abusing of a child was something you didn’t do around him if you wanted to keep the teeth that the good Lord gave you or worse.
Having only at best a sixth grade education he taught me the value of the best education that I could get. And then expected me to use it. I can still hear him to this day “Boy you need to use your head for something beside holding your ears apart”
In short most of what I learned about being a Man I learned from my Dear Old Redneck Daddy. Oh I’ve prettied it up some and modified it to keep up with the times. But the basic lessons don’t never change and I hope they never do. What’s right Is right and needs no apology. Stand up for it and defend it as long as you draw breath. Weak from strong. It ain’t the character that a man is willing to tell you about but the character that a man is willing to show you every day.
But the thing he taught me that has stuck so close over the years is this.
“No man stands so tall as when he stoops down to help someone get back up on his feet and continue the journey”
Old Man I am and always will be proud to be your son.
As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don’t quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you’ll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We’ll make it. See you’ll next week
Lord Knows I didn't mean to make nobody cry now Ladies. Celebrate life the way he did every day and you'll not have much room for sadness only joy.
Daddy had another saying that he got from Old Honest Abe Lincoln. "A Man will be just about as happy as he wants to be"
Consequentially Dad never went in for the hatred and small mindedness of all the things that he didn't have and never would because of the class and education level that he was brought into this world with.
Instead he worked tirelessly and well to elevate Himself and once he was satisfied with that he turned his attention to the betterment of his Son and many other Folks around him. Even today some 20 years after his passing I have folks that speak well of the help that he gave them and the changes that he made in their lives for the better. It is quite a Legacy and brings me more pleasure than if he had left me a million dollars.
As far as Friendship goes there Betty "If he did like you you had no better or more loyal friend in this world." My Dear Old Redneck Daddy taught me well. Most days I just wish I could do more.
You do so much more than you can possibly know, IR. The biggest gift you give me personally is the knowledge that there are men like you and your dad, who value you honor so much.
Reagan is dead, Obama is prisident, give him the respect that he deserves, illegalls have fought for our country, but, not good enough to live here, I asssume if you are not a native American, you to are an immigrant.
neal grimes, nicely said. These young people were brought here by their parents, this is the only country they know. I am pleased President Obama decided that enough is enough, if Congress won't act, then he will do what he can to help.
Jody I have to disagree with you. The way is written, what do we even have to mentioned Reagan? I still say you are much to nice. Nobody was talking about Reagan on this FR and yes all President deserve respect even the ones we do not like. You have a good weekend.
Reagan is dead, Obama is prisident, give him the respect that he deserves, illegalls have fought for our country, but, not good enough to live here, I asssume if you are not a native American, you to are an immigrant.
For all of you who believe the President's executive order on immigration brings 'dead beats' into the country, think again...the 'dead beats' were born here. As a percentage of the population, there are more than twice as many whites on welfare as Hispanics.
Happy Friday, or TGIF, take you pick. Thanks to our First Read hosts for providing us with articles to debate and a place to debate them. Enjoy the weekend. I'm heading to the DDI for a Mojito and some of that Dad's Day bar-b-que.
Rodney Dangerfield used to claim he never got any respect; well Rodney should move over and make room for our President. Never in my lifetime have I seen such disrespect for any President such as for President Obama. It makes me ashamed of what this country has become. Whether it is Congressman Joe Wilson's "you lie" scream during the SOTU address, the disrespect from Congress in general or what happened today in the Rose Garden.
I am not talking about First Read or other blog site comments so spare us the right-wing outrage about Bush and yada yada yada. I am talking about people who hold positions and whose actions reflect on the media outlet, business or the government they represent; they should be professional. I am talking about Monroe, the reporter, or whatever his name is who interrupted President Obama's Rose Garden address to scream a question at him. In my opinion, the guy deserves escorted off the White House grounds and should never be allowed to return. Other reporters have the good sense and respect to wait until President Obama was finished before shouting out questions. I would say the same if someone had interrupted and screamed at President Bush or Clinton or Reagan. Democrats in Congress and reporters never, ever showed such blatant disrespect for President Bush as we have seen the past 3 1/2 years. It was evident from the beginning when reporters referred to President Obama as Mr. Obama. They never called President Bush, Mr. Bush.
Along that same line of disrespect comes Mitt Romney. In Iowa earlier this week, he and his staff showed no respect for the cafe owner in Council Bluffs who allowed him to use the facility for his meet and greet. Per the owner, the Romney crowd was rude, destructive and Romney didn't even have the courtesy to introduce himself to her because she was in the back.
Yesterday, Romney's campaign bus circled the Ohio venue where President Obama was to speak and taunted the people standing in line to get into the event. Now, if the bus had passed once and honked the horn, that would be funny as Obama supporters booed the bus but to circle the block and repeat it, that's childish. It isn't hard for me to picture Mitt Romney himself up with the driver honking the bus horn dozens of times then telling the driver to circle the block to do it again. Anyone who thinks holding down a fellow classmate and cutting his hair was a typical high school prank would find some sick humor in his little stunt yesterday. So, when President Obama's bus does the same, will Mitt cry foul or will he say, "what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander". He cries foul if President Obama criticizes his work at Bain, foul when President Obama criticizes his time as Governor but in Mitt world, the sauce is only good if it is his.
Incidentally, Mr. Etch-a-Sketch, you are auditioning for the Office of President of the United States. Disrespecting President Obama's supporters by circling the block to repeat the performance is not funny and it certainly is NOT a sign of leadership. Mitt's lucky they didn't have any rotten eggs or tomatoes. While both these incidents may seem silly, they are, however, reminders and signs of a person who has no respect for others. Once again it shows a character flaw in Romney. How Romney treats supporters of his opposition and the owner of the Cafe, is how Romney will treat anyone he thinks beneath him.
Now in other news, the Iowa GOP and Democratic Conventions are tomorrow. Charles Grassley plans to call for unity at the GOP Convention. Why? "Faced with a takeover of the Republican Party by supporters of presidential hopeful Ron Paul....." Grassley is worried as are other republicans and they should be. "Paul supporters have filled many top posts in the party, packed the slate of delegates to the Republican Convention in August and written a proposed state platform that reflects many of his positions." Grassley avoided commenting on a proposed plank in the Iowa GOP platorm that calls for presidential candidates to show proof of being a natural born citizen of the US before their name can be placed in nomination.
Well, it should be an interesting day at the GOP convention. Looks as if some Iowa GOPers are as whack-a-do as Donald Trump and the rest of the birthers; it is doubtful that Senator Grassley's cry for unity will be heard by those who are not listening.
Note to Snookie Joe: In case you missed it, I responded to your ridiculous assertion on First Thoughts; the full comment is there. In a nutshell, please, do not flatter yourself. I've been writing "And that's the way it is"....this week for well over a year; your little effort would not offend or keep me from writing and posting it whenver I please and your suggestion that your effort keeps me from posting is laughable at best. Since I have you on Ignore and do not open your comments, the only reason I am responding now is a little bird told me what you said.
I didn't do my volunteer thingy this week, so I've spent more time than usual on FR....Some posts quite insightful, others, just plain jibberish/hateful rhetoric.
...Feisty, you are indeed the star!...What's with the 'why is she (carrot-top) always first crowd'? That's the craziest concern I've even seen. But as I told them.....'eat your carrots', carrots are a great anti-oxidant.. Get rid of the hate, vile language, prejudices that are poisoning your minds....eat your carrots!
Well said Jody, we all know that no jo's little black world revolves around HER!
Haven't been around much for FR this week, the weather is too fine to be inside. But I know it has been quite the week here, as always.
What oh what have we learned? Well, I don't know about YOU, but I know what I have learned. The "teabaggers" had a horrible, very bad, no good election night in North Dakota! You see, they believe what Grover Norquist blathers on about, that all taxes are BAD, and given the opportunity, ALL citizens in these here United States want to eliminate them. Well, friend Grover has not been to North Dakota! North Dakota is a very reliable red state, but they really hate being treated like they are stupid, and they have this stubborn streak that runs deep. So, when the local "teabagger" contingent decided that it was time to eliminate property taxes in the state, after all, they pontificated, you never REALLY own your house if you have to pay them, and don't you know that SOME people who know SOME bigwigs on SOME committees (oddly, they were never specific about who those people or committees might be) NEVER HAVE TO PAY PROPERTY TAXES, well gosh darn it, no one else should either.
North Dakotans listened to both sides, chuckled now and again at some of the silliness, and 77% voted to keep paying those taxes, because they do like the services that come along with that payment.
Now. They were given an opportunity to refuse to extend a sales tax locally, and they voted to keep that too. All of this has caused poor Grover Norquist to stamp his feet in absolute RAGE! He is, after all, the GOD of all taxes, and no tax should be levied that can be done away with.
To make it worse, the Catholic Bishops in North Dakota, tried to force a Constitutional Amendment on the state that they like to call "insuring religious liberty." What it would have done is make it almost impossible to arrest people for abusing their spouse or child, or refusing to rent a property to someone who might be of a gender that you don't approve of. In fact one man, interviewed in support of this amendment said "it would allow me to discipline my wife or child as I saw fit." Sure would have. All he would have to do is claim that his religion proscribed such treatment.
Yep. North Dakota said not only "no' to the Bishops, they said "heck no". At least 65% did, that is.
Then there was a City Commissioner who decided to try to "Scott Walker" the public pension system in the local city. He forgot he was up for reelection, and guess what? He was defeated big time. The citizens of the city remember well the firefighters and police working non stop more than one year to help protect them from floods.
What do we take away from this? People don't hate taxes, if the taxes make sense to them. For a reliably red state to do this should serve as a warning to the Republican Party. But it won't. They are too blind to see!
So that's my story! Time to head to the Dew Drop Inn for some libation! A very happy Father's day to all of you dad's! You are more important than you can possible know. Thank you to all of you who bring us First Read.
Feisty! Save me a seat! I hope that IR has some Buffalo Springfield in the jukebox. With all the paranoia floating around FR, I think the song suits well.
Chilled, newdayD, thanks. I've been working on the OFA campaign, too. We just opened our official democratic office. Next week will really be a busy one for us. In addition to the monthly country democratic central committee meeting, we're holding two "welcome" events for new volunteers who will be helping re-elect President Obama and democrats.
NewdayD, terrific post. The citizens of North Dakota get a standing ovation in addition to some cheering. It is heart-warming to know that voters are still smarter than politicians and King Grover give them credit for being. The Catholic Bishops wanting husbands to be able to abuse their wives and children in the name of religion has to be the most outrageous notion of the many the Catholic Bishops have been promoting this year.
UAW, please note that I did not say the question should not have been asked but interrupting any President before he/she is done speaking to scream out a question is RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL and the guy should never be allowed back until he learns some manners. Somehow it doesn't suprprise me that you don't get the difference. Other reporters were not happy with the guy so why should you be.
NDD, yes, old Spanky doesn't like to be proved wrong. Please save your post and repeat that part directly to him next time he shows up.
I was just in the car and heard that exchange with some reporter in the Rose Garden on MPR. The guy even interrupted Obama during his answer to him.
Whoever he is, is a ass, unprofessional and should be fired by whoever employs him.
I have had a wonderful afternoon with my two grandchildren. Before I left this A.M. I saw the post about Obama's executive order that young people who were brougth here by their parents. The citeria that is set up for a work permit makes sense to me. I posted it on NBC thread. Of course, it was collapsed along with many, many others.
I saw Gingerbread had her post deleted on the same NBC thread. The hate and viterol by the yahoos over there was a fine testment to the GOP who has no one left but the screaming, ignorant, angry extremists. Keep posting that junk and good luck in November in any election that will be on the ballot.
I even have sympathy for some of the conservative posters on FR for these fellow righties.
I am heading to the DDI and will buy Gingerbread the drink of her choice.
Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there. May your family make you proud.
Jody in Iowa: I don't agree nor support disrespecting the office of the Presidency. That being said, I also disagree with the President disrespecting American citizens...he is the most condescending and patronizing President that I have ever encountered. His philosophy and ideals support the notion that "we the people" need government to take care of us and solve all of our problems. I, for one, resent that way of thinking. He should represent not just the middle class, but all of us, 100% of us...the 1%ers, the 99%ers, democrats and republicans alike, but his rhetoric does not demonstrate that he does.
Jody, Part of the problem though is Obama always walks away before answering any of the tough questions. The media treated him with kid gloves in 2008. It's just nice to see them digging a little deeper during this election cycle. Of course I understand in 2008 Obama didnt have much of a record to question leadership wise and how hard of a question can you really ask about "Hope and Change"....
Jody & NDD - Brilliant comments to wrap up another wild week around here!
I too, have wonder where are resident ambulance chaser ran off to. Unlike Democrats, when they right wing nuts get caught with their pants down they run like hell!
Let's all raise a glass for our dear friend Gingerbread Mamma!
She took one for the team today - we'll leave a light on for ya! ;o)
I just hate when they sneak in the NBC Politics articles on FR. Since I access the stories via the comments link, I often don't see the header until after I have posted my comment. Seems almost like entrapment. Especially when GBM is typically so dutiful when posting sources/citations, unlike many right-wing plagiarizers that frequent FR.
I had to laugh when I read the title of the last thread- since when is a reporter asking questions considered heckling?
That reporter embarrassed some people- the rest of the press, who stand by, silent, as Obama makes his pronouncements; never bother to correct his more idiotic statements, (Intercontinental railroad? Really? Or did none of you realize that he actually meant the Transcontinental railroad?); or his outright lies- like his responses to inquiries about his dollars to Donors program- or the leaks that just happen to make Obama look like a "manly man"- but threaten the lives of people in the intelligence community.
Where was a "heckler"- demanding to know why a special prosecutor was needed in the Valerie Plame case, but not this one?
Where was a "heckler", when Obama states, categorically, that none of the debt run up in his three and a half years is attributable to him?
We could have used a "heckler" when he declared that the Constitution was irrelevant to his "kinetic military activity" in Libya.
I assume we will be seeing a lot more "heckling" next year- somehow, I don't think President Romney will make any of you swoon.
That will be good for the nation- but I think many people will be able to draw a contrast between the treatments of the two presidents. It's a funny thing about credibility- once you've lost it, it's tough to get it back.
Interrupting a speaker by shouting over his opening statement when you know there's a Q&A period coming isn't being a reporter, it's being a heckler.
Interrupting the answer to your own question by shouting over it again isn't being a reporter, it's being a heckler.
Next will come the "He'll get respect when/if he earns it" BS. The press didn't treat Nixon that way, and if a President of the United States ever EARNED disrespect it would be Nixon.
This continual and escalating disrespect says nothing of President Obama, but speaks volumes about the Conservatives who egg it on.
MSN is reporting news without being so bias and it is better for business.
The Folks on the left, specially Feisty likes to insult anyone that disagrees with her. I like Jody from Iowa, she seems to be more fair. I hope she gets to be first all the time and maybe she won't be so cranky.
I would like to learn why Gingerbread Mamma had her post deleted on the FR Obama administration won't seek deportation of young illegal immigrants
If Romney doesn't start talking to someone outside of Fox News Channel, the media won't be very 'forgiving' for long.
But right now, it's in their best interests to portray the race neck-and-neck. Good for ratings. So bashing Romney is bad (need to prop him) and propping obama is bad (need to hurt his support). If the numbers get inverted, expect it to change.
Romney's refusal to speak to the press on other than his own carefully manipulated terms will come back to bite him. Already it's clear that he's trying to avoid answering any but softball questions, and presents nothing other than pablum. Already he's worked to put his private, private sector, and government experiences off the table. He's asking us to vote for an empty suit, a blank slate. That never works, as illustrated by wide ranging examples from Sarah Palin's implosion of 2008 to Gary Hart's long ago "catch me if you can" dare to the MSM.
Reporters always hunger for a story, one that isn't handed to them in the exact same verbiage as it's handed to all the other reporters...they recognize that as manipulation with intent to hide something.
Concern Citizen. I don't care whether I am first or somewhere down the line. BTW, your "cranky" comment about me is as off the mark as your assessment of Feisty as "unhappy". It really is funny because my friends describe me as even keel, calm and as my doctor once told me, I "roll with the punches" that come my way. I could describe you as being extremely "touchy" when challenged and that would be about as accurate as your assessment of me. You see, Concern, one cannot assess a person based on a political web site's back and forth. This is politics, I take it seriously and I also do not suffer fools lightly (no, I am not calling you a fool). Things get heated, tempers flare and that's life on First Read.
I always find it amusing when a conservative poster comments about FR being less biased; failing to note, of course, that bias is in the eyes of the beholder. I found FR the last week and this to be overboard on snarky when it came to their comments about President Obama. That said, I also know that the purpose of FR is to stir the political discussion by fanning the flames of one side or the other.
John B. - Romney not being allowed to take questions is reminiscent of Sarah Palin. Her handlers were so afraid she would open her mouth and let everyone know how truly dumb and out of touch she was. It came back to bite her and it will Mitt too!
Concern Citizen. I don't care whether I am first or somewhere down the line. BTW, your "cranky" comment about me is as off the mark as your assessment of Feisty as "unhappy". It really is funny because my friends describe me as even keel
Once again, not that it matters, you took me out of contents. You are not the one that is cranky it's feisty. I guess I was correct in my assessment about you. As far as Feisty is concern I have nothing else to say. Once again the line about being first was meant for Feisty, you are hardly ever the one.
I am very angry with the right-wing tone NBC has adopted in covering this presidential election. The example of the Daily Caller's reporter heckling the President during his press conference is just an overt example of the animosity the msm is showing towards President Obama. I believe the corporations, including the Koch Brothers, have bought the media's support.
I have seen broadcast journalists helpfully summarize Romney's talking points, after he has bungled his on air interview. The mainstream media fails to report actual facts; they offer their opinions instead of objective reporting. They cast everything President Obama does in a negative light.
Walter Cronkite and his colleagues, have, clearly, left the building.
Amy, well said. I have no problem with criticism of politicians or presidents during campaigns or whenever but I do when the criticism is applied only to one side. Last Friday, on FT, I wrote a quick summary of the negative headlines and comments used to describe President Obama compared to the postive ones for Romney. For example, Romney said we "don't need to hire more firemen, policemen and teachers" but the MSM barely mentioned that gaffe while pouncing on the "private sector is doing fine" comment and taking it completely out of context.
ksw, unbiased would be the press challenging both Mitt Romney and President Obama instead of giving Romney a free pass; it would be the press demanding interviews with him; asking him some tough questions instead of allowing Mitt to "run out the clock."
Amy, the fact that this was a Daily Caller "reporter" speaks to why Tucker Carlson was drummed out of the ranks of respectable journalists. He's a classless, narcissistic attention-monger and clearly he hires people to be like him.
It reminds me of an old Saturday Night Live skit set at "the Journalist Cafe". Periodically there would be shouting from offstage by someone demanding to get in because he "belongs here." Each outburst would end with stern instructions for Geraldo to leave and not come back.
Now Geraldo is a regular on Fox...what's that tell you?
I don't know about going for the Gold - but I am going to top 100 voters registered by Monday. As a reward to myself, I'll be cutting another check for O's campaign. So glad I found this site - you teabaggers motivate me more than you can imagine. Should be able to cancel every one of you bagger trolls out before the elections. Keep tawkin' smack.
Look for me (the guy with the Wellstone shirt) at your teabagger rallies..if you'd like to discuss further.
Once again, Pres. Obama has decided to ignore Congress and start writing his own laws! They are called illegal aliens because they are , indeed, ILLEGAL! Here is a sitting president to whom our laws mean nothing. What he is doing is fascist, at best, socialist for sure. To him, Executive privilege means monarchy. He is actually suing the State of Arizona for trying to uphold the law of the land in their border war with illegals! He is the absolute worst President we have ever had. To describe him as inept is being far too kind.
So, the President essentially chose to enforce based on terms of the DREAM Act...which the GOP used to support...of course, before they were against it.
I guess ding-dong Ed is right - why, in the Ed Ding-Dong Dictionary, they seem to mean one in the same.
so·cial·ism noun \ˈsō-shə-ˌli-zəm\
Definition of SOCIALISM
1: An executive order signed by President Obama that allows illegal aliens brought to this country as minors a pathway to citizenship
fas·cism noun \ˈfa-ˌshi-zəm also ˈfa-ˌsi-\ Definition of FASCISM 1 often capitalized : An executive order signed by President Obama that allows illegal aliens brought to this country as minors a pathway to citizenship
LOL, Ed, if the GOPers in Congress got off their collective rear ends--to earn their $174,000 paycheck--and did something, President Obama wouldn't have to by-pass them. Have you forgotten the blocks to the DREAM Act the last 3 years? Have you forgotten the GOP House refuses to even bring it to the floor for debate?
Uh, Jody, the Dream Act was actually passed by the House. it is the GOP in the Senate that is not allowing it to be brought to a vote, much like Harry sitting on the 30 or so bills passed after the midterms by the House that he refuses to allow a vote on.
Is that all you have to whine about, mike? Over 400 bills passed the previous House and died of Republican filibuster in the Senate. Call me when you pass the 400 mark. Until then call the whaaambulance, I'm not interested.
The comments would be funny if the ones commenting weren't so stupid! If you LIBERALS would check into Cuba you would see whats coming to America. But you had so much smoke blown up your arses your brains are cloudy. Odumbass is doing this to get votes from illegals and idiots just as he did in 2008. That or more dead voters to get him re-elected. The other party has someone not much better and I don't trust him either. But Odumbass is planning to become a dictator just as Castro did in Cuba. At least Romney is an American and all the fake birth certificates in the world Odumbass has provided won't convince me he is an American. His fake birth certificate was printed from a computer and not a typewriter as was in the year of his birth. A lazer jet printer was not invented back in that time.
Mmmm, the last I checked, Cuba just took a giant step away from socialism by allowing the purchasing and selling of private property. So as opposed to America becoming more like Cuba, it seems the reverse is true. Now blow that smoke up your birther-brained arse.
What a joke. You have ruined this country and blame everyone but yourself. you have failed bailouts, failed decreasing the debit IT is your watch OWN IT. Your a great speaker I will give you that but your accountable just like everyone else in gods eyes, wonder how you will fare. LOOK UP THE WORD ILLEGAL PLEASE and stop ignoring the us constitution which ahs done a good job governing this country for a long time. YOU are a true AMATUER.
Might I also add heck of a way to get votes. You have had 4 years tosepek out publicy in support of gay marriages and immigration and you choose to do so 5 1/2 months before election to get votes. Hope it does not work this time like it did in 2008. It is tough enough supporting our family much less giving hard earned money to the Poor as you say to support them. BAD very bad
Okay... I've waited long enough...
GRRR!!!
Damn gremlins just ate my comment! Let me try this again!
What did I learn this week?
Well, for starters, I learned the right wing nuts are obsessed with who posts the first comment!
Very paranoid bunch that group is...
I want to wish all the Father's out there (including Mark & Domenico) a very special & happy day!
I also want to thank them for giving us this little parcel of real estate to express our views, even if we get frustrated sometimes!
I'll see all my Dew Drop Inn friends in a little while - In honor of Daddy's Day we're throwing all the Dad's a Man-B-Que!
Let them eat meat! ;o)
Too funny Red!
Was that creepy or WHAT?
Thanks for the compliment over there - much appreciated! ;o)
Happy Father's Day to all the dads and granddads!
What do you mean, you waited long enough.
Talk about disrespect, RedDevPS "Reagen is dead" So that is a reason not to show respect. You need to learn to respect even those that are dead.
I apologize ReddevvPS it was not you it was neal grimes. I could blame it on the gremlins, however I, will be accountable and apologize again.
Talk about disrespect, neal grimes "Reagen is dead" So that is a reason not to show respect. You need to learn to respect even those that are dead.
Good on you, Feisty. I think you showed admirable restraint.
Now let your detractors have a piece of your mind.
By the way, in honor of my own step-father, who has been gone for many years, I'm having steak tonight with a friend.
Have a great evening and weekend, everyone. Remember that the greatest gift you will ever give your father is the gift of YOU.
Obama is having Pudding for snack in Mexico, eating Putin alive at G-20 meeting.
Nuns on the Bus -- Now they are worth supporting!
Thanks Anna Molly!
There are some who are just too crazy to waste any valuable time on! ☺
Feisty,
I just read your post on the other thread about the reporter who was such an ass, works for a company Daily Caller that is run by Tucker Carlson.
The best thing MSNBC ever did was dumping his sorry ass!
I appreciate the background on 'bow-tie'boy! ;o)
He was on a guest pass - I'll guarantee he will never see another presser in his lifetime! lol
Happy Father's Day. Have a nice weekend.
You have a wonderful weekend, lisa!
You too Lisa!
Maybe by this time next year, your hubby will be looking at the prospect of being a Grampa! ;o)
All the best to you & the family!
Feisty, Newday, Thanks for the good thoughts. We already have 5 grandchildren. Three of them will be with us this weekend.
You are a VERY lucky lady! Enjoy your time with your cherubs!
Well I had an afternoon of business to take care of and to
be quite honest sat down for a while out of the hue and cry and watched me a
beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain sunset to cap off a good day. So I hope that my
Friends and Neighbors won’t be too far in their cups or mind that I’m late to
the dance down at the Dew Drop Inn this evening.
So let’s raises a glass or three to my Dear Old Redneck
Daddy since it is a day to celebrate Fatherhood this Sunday.
Daddy was a big old rawboned feller of a type not seen very
much anymore. His eyes and hands had seen the violence of his times yet were
gentle enough to bring a little lamb or calf into this world.
Not a real religious man he was however a very spiritual
person. He was connected to his land and nature in ways that were hard to
describe. He believed in working hard and getting paid fair for it. Do unto others
as you would have them do unto you. Most of the time his Church was up on the
Ridge setting under a tall oak tree. It gave him peace and grounded him he
said.
He hated a lie, an innuendo and a half truth. If he was going
to come for you he was going to do it straight up and from in the front. Weren’t
no backbiting in him. If he didn’t like you you knew it and right now. If he
did like you you had no better or more loyal friend in this world.
Hated abuse of any kind. Man belittleing his wife or worse.
Abusing an animal. Shucks in my house the day wasn’t done until the animals
were taken care of big to small. The beating or abusing of a child was
something you didn’t do around him if you wanted to keep the teeth that the
good Lord gave you or worse.
Having only at best a sixth grade education he taught me the
value of the best education that I could get. And then expected me to use it. I
can still hear him to this day “Boy you need to use your head for something
beside holding your ears apart”
In short most of what I learned about being a Man I learned
from my Dear Old Redneck Daddy. Oh I’ve prettied it up some and modified it to
keep up with the times. But the basic lessons don’t never change and I hope
they never do. What’s right Is right and needs no apology. Stand up for it and
defend it as long as you draw breath. Weak from strong. It ain’t the character
that a man is willing to tell you about but the character that a man is willing
to show you every day.
But the thing he taught me that has stuck so close over the
years is this.
“No man stands so tall as when he stoops down to help
someone get back up on his feet and continue the journey”
Old Man I am and always will be proud to be your son.
As always my thanks and
appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a
subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don’t
quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope
you’ll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To
my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We’ll make it.
See you’ll next week
IR: That tribute to your dad brought a tear to my eye. There is no one that can draw a picture with words like you do.
Thanks for writing it my friend. Wish I had a dad like you did.
Happy Father's Day to my favorite Redneck in this world!
Floyd,
You made me cry!
Your Dear Ol Redneck Daddy did a mighty fine job in raising his boy into the man I am proud to call my friend!
Lord Knows I didn't mean to make nobody cry now Ladies.
Celebrate life the way he did every day and you'll not have much room for
sadness only joy.
Daddy had another saying that he got from Old Honest Abe
Lincoln. "A Man will be just about as happy as he wants to be"
Consequentially Dad never went in for the hatred and small mindedness
of all the things that he didn't have and never would because of the class and
education level that he was brought into this world with.
Instead he worked tirelessly and well to elevate Himself and
once he was satisfied with that he turned his attention to the betterment of
his Son and many other Folks around him. Even today some 20 years after his
passing I have folks that speak well of the help that he gave them and the
changes that he made in their lives for the better. It is quite a Legacy and
brings me more pleasure than if he had left me a million dollars.
As far as Friendship goes there Betty "If he did like you you had no better or
more loyal friend in this world." My Dear Old Redneck Daddy taught me well.
Most days I just wish I could do more.
You do so much more than you can possibly know, IR. The biggest gift you give me personally is the knowledge that there are men like you and your dad, who value you honor so much.
Thanks, my good friend.
I understand where he was coming from, I've learned life is to precious to waste time on phony acquaintances pretending to be your friend!
Which is one reason I admire you so...
Also... a reason I never play poker! ;o)
Sorry everyone,
The Tucker Carlson from MN is not the one who owns Daily Caller.
My mistake.....
For all of you who believe the President's executive order on immigration brings 'dead beats' into the country, think again...the 'dead beats' were born here. As a percentage of the population, there are more than twice as many whites on welfare as Hispanics.
as a percentage or what? just curious, i had never heard that fact before, but can totally believe it...
I wonder what the Iowa GOP would consider "proof of natural born citizenship" if a birth certificate and a passport is not.
Heartlight, I doubt the IA GOP has a clue what "natural born" even means. That crowd is led by Iowa's very own racist, House Rep Steve King.
Jody,
Nice weekly roundup, as usual.
Happy Fathers Day!
Slainte!
That guy in the Rose Garden didnt ask anything that the rest of the country wasnt already wondering.....
The Bishops claim that the law wouldn't allow it, but reading the law... it sure wouldn't have stopped it!
Isn't it funny how quiet Spanky has been on that property tax vote in ND?
UAW, please note that I did not say the question should not have been asked but interrupting any President before he/she is done speaking to scream out a question is RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL and the guy should never be allowed back until he learns some manners. Somehow it doesn't suprprise me that you don't get the difference. Other reporters were not happy with the guy so why should you be.
NDD, yes, old Spanky doesn't like to be proved wrong. Please save your post and repeat that part directly to him next time he shows up.
Jody,
Thanks for the post of the week roundup.
Have a good weekend everyone!
She took one for the team today - we'll leave a light on for ya! ;o)
Gingerbread Mamma! Come on back you hear? Won't be the same without your Irish wit and wisdom.
Consider that glass raised!
Salute!
From what I saw before it was deleted, I could of sworn she 'block-quoted' it and gave credit to the source...
I'm sure she'll give us the 'skinny' upon her return!
I thought she did too Feisty, but it was gone so quickly, I am not sure.
Cheers to the Dear GingerBreadMamma!!
And speaking of ugly threads, over 55 collapsed posts on the heckler thread. It is a friggin' war zone over there.
So much for tolerance & freedom of speech from the right wing nitwits!
If they didn't have hate to fuel them - they would have NOTHING!
So, Red - you gonna buy me a drink? ;o)
You betcha - and I'll offer a spin on the dance floor. I'll let you know the next time I am in Chicago, and we can make plans to tear up the town.
Can't wait!
I'm gonna hold you to that promise! ☺
Jody - great wrap up as usual. So much better than nj the pretender could ever muster! Have a great weekend!
So funny.
"It's a funny thing about credibility-once you've lost it, it's tough to get it back."
While that certainly does not apply to your President: it is a perfect description of you, no jo.
I will laugh the rest of the day.
I'm with you on that one! lmao!
I see Snookie-Joe had an extra cup of delusions this morning!
Ol Snook's is plenty of things, sorry for her, credible isn't one of them!
She still holds the FR record for being corrected the most by the mod's for her outrageous fairy-tales!
Mumbai trip ring a bell? Ding-a-ling? lol
What did I learn this week.
Last but not least, Happy Fathers day to all.
For now.
Jody; your calmness on FR is legendary!
John B. - Romney not being allowed to take questions is reminiscent of Sarah Palin. Her handlers were so afraid she would open her mouth and let everyone know how truly dumb and out of touch she was. It came back to bite her and it will Mitt too!
To Jody, Iowa
Once again, not that it matters, you took me out of contents. You are not the one that is cranky it's feisty. I guess I was correct in my assessment about you. As far as Feisty is concern I have nothing else to say. Once again the line about being first was meant for Feisty, you are hardly ever the one.
Have a good night and a great weekend.
Poor poor Amy. Where are you going to go to drink your Kool-Aid now?
You Lefties can dish it out, but you sure can't take it. And, what union do you belong to ? Or do you work for the government?
Actually for the first time in a while I think they may be actually trying to be true journalists who are not supposed to be biased.
Perhaps, Amy, you should be complaining about Biden

Funny how this remark escaped the notice of mostof the reporters. . .
I wish you were in San Diego, man.
Keep expanding the voting base. It's almost an algorithm.
High turnout= the Dems win.
Of the 100 you hope to register, 97 will be illegal aliens, no doubt.
JMR:: Wellstone is hero of mine. We still miss him in outstate MN.
JMR,
Worthwhile election work. Keep it up.
Have a great weekend.
As in Paul Wellstone? Gosh, we could really use him about now. He could bring a little sanity to the craziness in Washington.
JMR, cheers to you! I'm working the OFA campaign here, too. Will look for the Wellstone shirt in crowds.
Gee, tek, is that why Barrett won in Wisconsin?
Oh. Wait.
Explain how they're 'fascist' or 'socialist'.
Those words do not mean what you think they do.
ROFL!!!!
So, the President essentially chose to enforce based on terms of the DREAM Act...which the GOP used to support...of course, before they were against it.
Try the dictionary, ding-dong.
teknishan - Try the dictionary, ding-dong.
Love that movie!!!
I guess ding-dong Ed is right - why, in the Ed Ding-Dong Dictionary, they seem to mean one in the same.

NUMBERSUSA register and send that turkey a fax.
AT this point ther's NOTHING obama would not do for a vote including SELL OUT THE COUNTRY!
