Obama interrupted by heckling at immigration announcement

Alex Wong / Getty Images

Neil Munro of The Daily Caller tries to ask his question the second time as he interrupts President Barack Obama's remarks about deportation of illegal immigrants June 15, 2012 in Washington, D.C.

President Barack Obama introduced his administration's new policy granting qualified legal status to illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children in a Rose Garden statement interrupted by the heckling of a conservative reporter.

As the president, standing at a podium outside the White House, explained why he was implementing the policy, Daily Caller writer Neil Munro began to shout questions, asking why Obama would want foreigners in the country instead of giving jobs to Americans.

“It is not the time for questions. Not while I'm speaking,” the president, visibly irritated, said just five minutes into his speech.

President Obama responds to a member of the media who interrupted an immigration speech on Friday.

After a pause, he continued to tout the new policy of suspending deportation actions against qualified students for two years and allowing them to instead apply for job permits. According to White House officials, those individuals would have to reapply after two years in the event Congress does not pass permanent legislation in the meantime.

Obama noted that his new policy could quickly be made permanent if Congress passed the stalled DREAM act, which would provide U.S. residency to immigrants who have a college education or served in the military.

“This is a temporary stop-gap measure that lets us focus our resources wisely while giving a degree of relief and hope to talented, driven, patriotic young people," Obama said. “Precisely because this is temporary, Congress needs to act."

A few minutes later, the heckler started up again, allowing Obama to even more forcefully make his point as he countered the shouting.

President Obama announces that the Department of Homeland Security will no longer seek the deportation of many young illegal immigrants.

“And the answer to your question, sir,” he began, pointing his finger from the podium directly at Munro, “-- and the next time I'd prefer you let me finish my statements before you ask that question -- is this is the right thing to do for the American people.”

“If there's a young person here who has grown up here and wants to contribute to this society, wants to maybe start a business that will create jobs for other folks who are looking for work, that's the right thing to do,” he continued, at that point seeming to speak with the dual purpose of heralding the new policy and drowning the heckler out.

The guy interrupting with questions during the President's formal remarks, was rude and unprofessional -- what was he doing there? Let be the last time. An apology is due from him and his news outfit.

Of course the Right is snarky about it. After all, everybody knows that GOP and friends are NOT job creators and these young people might be if given the chance. And when folks work, they create revenues and lift up the economy. Another Norquistian no-no.

The right sees this as undercutting their attack on voting. That is, their moves to cut the democratic voting population.

Well so what? Republican governors are disenfranchizing voters like there's No Tomorrow.
After (R-WI) Walker passed his Voter ID laws to make voting harder, he tweeted "I waited ten years to do that."

Whereas in fact, allowing young adults to stay and put their educational or military skills to use will have many positive effects on the American economy... potentially new businesses, new ideas, innovation, etc.

It will humanize America. Aside from economic benefits and security benefits, young children will not be separated from their parents, or grow up in shame or fear. Those are great things to be proud of.

I'll ask Roland Martin's question on CNN...

Where are Republican efforts to expand legal access to the ballot?

The GOP opposed "Motor Voter" laws back in the '90s and now they're out to purge voter rolls. Yup, let's have us a good old-fashioned plutocracy!

Ah, yes...Chicken Little was a Republican.

...but who are you to question the validity of The Constitution? Last I checked we have a group of "detainees" in Gitmo who were placed there courtesy of a Republican administration and have been denied due process as guaranteed by the Constitution.

...and the GOP doesn't give a crap about not following the Constitution in that case.

This is another example of an amateur "news" blogger more interested in making himself the story than in reporting the news. The President handled it perfectly, but it's sad how someone can be so disrespectful to the President just to be a news story for an hour.

It wasn't heckling as much as it was simply asking a question prematurely.

And why list the reporter's supposed political party? These reports never say "liberal" reporter, Andrea Mitchell. Or "liberal" reporter, Ezra Klein. Or "liberal" reporter, Chuck Todd. "Obama noted that his new policy could quickly be made permanent if Congress passed the stalled DREAM act, which would provide U.S. residency to immigrants who have a college education or served in the military." - article

You would hope that a journalist would report accurately, but sadly in this case she has not. The Democrats DREAM Act automatically grants CITIZENSHIP to those illegals who complete two years of college. It's the Republican version of the legislation (DREAM Act Lite) that grants RESIDENCY status to those who do. Under that plan those illegals can then apply for citizenship while they have that resident status...just like all the other legal immigrants do.

Obama has in reality changed his policy to closely resemble the Republican version -- DREAM Act Lite.

As for your wild spin on the DREAM Act:

1. House Democrats voted Yes. House Republicans voted No.

2. It passed in the Senate with 55 votes. GOP blocked it.

GOP requires 60 votes for every measure. They have filibustered Congress at 3 times the pace ever seen in American history.

This used to be a bi-partisan piece of legislation, until President Obama was elected.

What a contrast in character, a gutless reporter heckles Obama, nice to see my President put him in his place.

On the larger issue, for those too dense to understand his words, Obama said this is a temporary stop gap function. It is an executive order, an authority he has to direct the agencies to show this discretion in its deportation policies.

For all the righties, don't worry it can only last as long as he is in office. I would love for the GOP to enter the 21st century and stop blocking the Dream act.

First step this executive order, next step hopefully a passage of the Dream act with residency and legalization process, next step comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship.

Use to mournfully say Obama - Still the best we got

Now proud to say...

Obama 2012.

Later, Dan R., would do a story about W., that wasn't true, and it became his undoing. I think President Obama has been disrespected by many with no consequence. Whether you are a Dem, or a Republican, why can't it be civil and respectful? I personally feel that the Republican party has become a party I can't even listen to anymore. It's a shame that civil discourse no longer seems to exist. I'm a registered Independent and feel the Republican party no longer offers any sane middle of the road sanity. Tragic for all of us.

Da Noid,

The USA has detained a lot of people with out due process. In our federal prison system we have Cubans that never had a day in court, look up Talladega federal riot in 1991, Atlanta riot 1985, and they were detain by both parties, but mostly by Jimmy Carter's presidency in 1980. There are other examples.

The people in Guantanamo, were not detain on US soil by civil police, which means the US does not have to give them due process. The military laws does not follow civil laws, which means that all the US has to do is follow Geneva convention, which gives the US a free hand since they where not uniformed soldiers of the government.

The President is refusing to enforce the laws for which he as the Chief Executive was elected.

I don't agree with the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) - but it is the law of the land and should be enforced (until the Supreme Court dismantles it which I do expect will be done in relatively short order). Same thing with the PPACA. He's hell bent to make sure that that gets administrative cycles in enforcement (same deal here - even though the Supreme Court very well may dismantle it).

He has no right (please read that as NO RIGHT to ignore the law of the land). If he doesn't like it, then it's up to him - and Congress - to enact meaningful reform to immigration laws.

But to ignore it...

How would he feel if we chose to ignore the IRS's request that we pay our taxes? We'd be hauled off to the pokey. He has NO RIGHT to ignore the law of the land.

I'm a Democrat - and I'm mad as he77. I'm all for trying to secure four more years - but not at the expense of what's legal or right. That's a Republican move and shame on us for trying the same tactics. As a party, we cried, whined and boo-hooed (rightfully so) when George Bush committed our troops in Iraq without previously asking Congress to do their duty and declare war first - we were incensed at this "strong arming" by the Executive Branch...

then we go and pull some numbskulled trick like this.

Shame on us.

The President just lost my vote. He can rest assured though, Mitt Romney won't be getting it either.

Hey 2112! do you know that the band you seem to love so much lives in a bilingual country...yes that's right! Ontario, Canada is French/English speaking. Also Canada has it's $hit together when it comes to social issues. You need to be bilingual because not everyone speaks English! This is a big planet with lot of people on it and guess what! There are more countries in the world than just the U.S.! Your statement seems very right and very conservative!! but "Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose"

1. It was asking a question, not heckling. The question was serious and needs answered.

2. When will the President actually answer the question? Since this reporter was not the only one who had questions concerning this decision.

3. How much more of this side stepping the rules of our govt. will the American people take?

NOBAMA2012! For the good of America and Americans everywhere.

Glad to see Obama bitch-slapped that imbecile reporter to China and back. Something tells me the Daily Caller will be denied access to future pressers. Poor Tucker. Good thing the attending doctor at his birth altered the word his mother kept repeating during delivery, and substituted the 'F' with a 'T'.

Another braindead lib. The US Constitution was written to protect the rights of American Citizens.

Enemy combatants don't qualify.

Then, Rayko, please show me where in The Constitution is specifies that it applies only to citizens.

Are you suggesting that if you, say, a German citizen you are not entitled to any of the freedoms identified in the First Amendment?

If you are a Japanese citizen and you are arrested for murder you are not entitled to due process?

If you are Canadian citizen living in Montana are you not allowed to have a gun and go hunting?

President Obama has had 3 1/2 years to correct the situation in Gitmo and to release the detainees. Why hasn't he done so?

Must have been the correct course of action......

...or maybe it has more to do with the fact that the GOP collectively shat themselves at the very mention of moving those detainees to the prision in Illinois.

Those of you who are claiming the president is refusing to enforce the law are forgetting that more people have been deproted during his time in office than were deported during Bush's 2 terms. Deportation of "illegal" immigrants increased by 70% since President Obama took office.

They won't let me post a link because they claim I am "new" but check it out at politifacts.

Yes, most of us do know that - and it's damned humiliating every time the US goes to the Olympics to hear the countries announced with their official language, only to hear "None" said for the US. We look like the biggest fools - "They can't even pick a formal language!" It's about time to fish or cut bait - pick a language, enforce it, and live with it, whatever it may be! Then we can cut out having to print every government form in so many different languages, wasting taxpayer dollars!

Maybe if they verified the kids residency and alien status before being allowed to enroll in any school system, then this measure wouldn't be necessary would it? They really just need to lock down the borders to help keep any more illegals from setting up shop over here and have the ones already here make a decision. Either get legal or be deported no matter what you're doing here, how long you've been here or your status/ importance in the community. It should be a zero tolerance policy but during election time the illegals or illegals supporters are seen as easy votes.

Yes Mr. Bill King, you are right...the 1st amendment is just a privilege right? While it could be argued that the person should have showed enough respect to let the president finish his speech, your opinion is thankfully just that...your opinion. By the way I was of course being sarcastic, the 1st is not a privilege, it is a right. It is a right that has been defended with the lives of many people...even for you.

What's really pathetic, though, is the Pavlovic response of his pet sheep on this site....."Obama declared it, so I will defend it to the death". Disgusting, and pathetic.

@ uchusky99 -- Good quote. If the right wing brain damaged would look at a chart, they'd see that hispanic immigration took off for the stratosphere in 1986. One reason was that while Reagan represented the rich in general he also represented the southwestern rich in particular, and they wanted cheap labor for their farms and businesses.

But nothing matters to the right. They treat reagan as they do the constitution: Fail to understand half of it, ignore the part they don't understand or don't like, and worship, absolutely worship like the lickspittles they are, the parts they do like.

If the only job you are qualified for is the same as illegal alien jobs, then you are a complete failure at life.

I have no sympathy and no respect for anyone who complains about illegal aliens taking their jobs. These are worthless, pathetic Americans who have failed at life, and now their only value is swinging a hammer, picking crops, or washing dishes.

It is not Obama's fault that you are out of a job, it is not an illegal aliens fault, it is YOUR fault. You are a failure... and the only person responsible for your pathetic life is YOU.

I am so sick of these lazy, right-wing, cry baby, Republicans blaming everyone else for their own failures in life. Take some god damn personal responsibility for once in your miserable existence.

Mr. Obama does not respect the existing laws of our country he swore to uphold. It is his duty to enforce existing immigration laws WHETHER HE PERSONALLY LIKES THEM OR NOT ! By not respecting our existing laws, he disrespects ALL who are legal citizens of the United States !!

All Obama did was put them all on the Government payroll- but now legally! This is a pathetic attempt to buy votes- and I agree with some of the comments- Obama just pushed a large group to Romney. HOORAY!

For those of you using Reagan as your example- Even Reagan admitted amnesty was a GIANT mistake! This is the wrong time for this measure- the time to do this is when the country is not going down in flames! I had really hoped he was going to tell them all to go home! no such luck...

As a California resident, I don't like illegal aliens any more than anyone else, but I can't find it in my heart to see young men and women who were brought here by their parents in their infancy (with no choice in the matter) suffer for it. If they have gone to school, worked hard to get through college, and earned a college degree....they deserve to be able to go out and do like the rest of us....find a decent job, make money, buy homes, pay taxes; and, if they are lucky enough to begin a new business, to hire people that are out of work! I don't think that this is a problem at all, and I think the DREAM Act is a good start. I just understand why so many conservative right-wing nuts want to punish these young people for something that happened that they had little or no choice to do anything about. It's totally ridiculous to send them back to a country that they have absolutely NO remembrance of, can't speak the language, and have no connection with. They can become viable tax-paying citizens based on their college educations, etc. For those of you who wish them sent back to whereever....perhaps you need to review where YOUR ancestors came from, and maybe we should send you back also.

As for getting citizenship from serving in the military....I think this is a great opportunity. My mother, who was Canadian, was in the Army during WWII, and because of her service, she was given U.S. citizenship. I thought that was the case all the time, but apparently, it changed. As a retired Army officer, I think if young men and young women join the military to fight for THIS country, they deserve the right to be given citizenship.

And, for those who keep harping on the prisoners at Gitmo....you need to be aware that President Obama DID want to release them by putting them in prisons here in the U.S. (I believe it was in Illinois) and stand trial; however, it was the GOP who had a hissy fit about it and blocked it. So, you may want to put the blame where it REALLY belongs before you blame our president for something that he tried to rectify.

He is the President now. For the office of the President there should be respect. On the other hand the reporters question was a valid one. Should have waited for Obama to look for the questions first. I think what is more disturbing is how he can make law without congressional review. I know other Presidents have done it. Just seems like since the Congress isnt Democrat anymore, this is his way around that. I almost say there has been a lack of leadership. George W cant be to blame for all of this Presidents failures. When Ronald Reagan was in office, I dont think I ever heard him blame Carter. He just went in and did his best to fix the mess. And before someone calls me a racist. I just dont agree with most of Obama's decisions on how to lead this Country. I believe I still have that right to disagree.

workingpoor -

I'm not saying that G.W. did it the right way. I'm saying he was wrong when he did it - and we're equally as wrong (as Democrats) for supporting a President who is doing the damn same thing. If it wasn't right for G.W., it's not right for us.

Democrats can't rail against what G.W. did and then say... oh... but it's ok for Obama because he's in the right. No. He's in the wrong. How do I come to that conclusion? Because the law says he's wrong. I think the immigration laws in the US are pretty sucky. But revise them to something that works - don't just ignore them.

And you know what? I agree that these kids probably should have a fast track to citizenship because of the circumstances. But it doesn't matter what I "feel". Only what the law says is right or wrong.

Tis' dat' simple.

The reason for this announcement today is threefold:

1.) Many Hispanics are Devout Catholics. His recent Obamacare mandate for
birth control and his coming out of the closet on Gay Marriage has cost him some
support in this "constituency". He hopes they will look past those two important
issues and with this "DayDream Act" change in policy still support him in
November.

2.) Obama is trying to minimize any gains for Romney were he to pick Marco
Rubio as his VP pick.

3.) The Supreme Court will issue its ruling on the Arizona SB 1070 Law any
day now....If found to be Constitutional, Obama would use this "policy change"
to lessen Arizona's ability to protect Arizona...

Nothing Obama does is for any reason other than what benefits Obama....It's
all Political, always has been.....Why he even has David Axelrod ( Head of his
Campaign) as one of the Team in the room when Obama's is making decisions on
vaporizing someone on his Kill List.

Were those 13 women and children killed in last weeks drone strike on the
list ??...Axelrod may have mistakenly thought he saw a ROMNEY lawn sign out in
front of the building in the surveillance photos.

And another reason why this announcement today:

Obama saw a 20% drop in support from Black voters just in NC when he came out
of the closet on Gay Marriage....he has to replace them......

What gets me is that if your are black and voting for Obama because he's
black (1/2 anyway) and think he's got your back, he just gave out 800,000 Work
Permits to illegals giving them "the right" to go after jobs that might have
otherwise gone to a black person.....These illegals aren't going to be competing
for jobs in the "white communities".....but in the Minority Communities all
across America....If you're Black, forget about getting a job at Taco Bell,
Pollo Tropical, Chipotles, Chilli's, McDonalds...any entry level job.

If you're black in a "low-income" neighborhood and have a job in the corner
Bodega...be prepared to be replaced....Obama needs to keep you on the Government
Plantation Dole....And is sure you will vote for him anyway...

President Obama was this time correct, in telling this Journalist to wait.

No matter what anyones leanings, Right or Left, the Office of the Presidency must be respected.

Respect comes when a Leader shows Leadership caring about his people.. It was wrong, but the American people at this point and time, are on high alert, because of the bad economic future, intensifying foreclosures, and no jobs.

The Immigrants who are good citizens without going through the process of becoming a citizen, because they were born here, thru their Illegal Immigrant parents, should not even come up for discussion. There is an immense disproportion of Unemployment in this Country. 8.2 percent and growing. Who gets the "job" first?

So if it's Obama it's heckling. For Every president before him, it was asking a question. I guess if your presidency rest on a lack of ability and no real clue, any distraction would be heckling. I mean people interrupted Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, etc., and it was termed freedom of the press. But, interrupt our Empty suit in chief and, "Oh my god, how disrespectful, how inappropriate, etc".

This is pandering in it's purest, lowest form. What about all the American citizens without work? And do spare me the "They only take jobs Americans don't want" bull s**t. The company I work for has a great number of Immigrants, who barely speak English, and yet they make $16.00 and hour and up with full bene's. Show of hands, how many of you American citizens would take a job like that? Sounds like "O" expects them to reciprocate at the voting booth. What a surprise, last time around ACORN was out registering Illegals to get him elected.

The President is refusing to enforce the laws for which he as the Chief Executive was elected.

He has no right (please read that as NO RIGHT to ignore the law of the land). If he doesn't like it, then it's up to him - and Congress - to enact meaningful reform to immigration laws.

He is not the first President to refuse to enforce a law nor will he be the last. It's not a question of his right, it's a question of authority. No one can force the President of the United States to enforce a particular law. The Supreme Court can issue an order to enforce the law and the President can ignore it. The court has no enforcement mechanism to enforce it. The Congress can pass a resolution and the President can ignore it. They have numerous times in the past. The only power Congress has over the President is the power of impeachment.

Its a cut across the board, how many of these illegal immigrants fit into this category? and how many are the drug crazed potential criminal element and how do you sort it out? whats wrong with the persons wanting citizenship simply apply for it and get it the same way that our laws in existence already mandate. why go around the constitution? this is a ploy for votes, I hope the legal Hispanic/Latinocitizens can see through this. on another thought maybe Mr O just cant handle doing his job the way it was presented to him, so he will simply change everything so he can do it his way. I'm sure this is a politically motivated move to gain votes, maybe he should just make it legal for the rest of the world to join in on our elections. it looks as though he is stacking the deck before the game. we better request that the dealer shuffles. but if Mr O is the dealer he will only shuffle the top half of the deck and deal from the bottom he is a slick one. there are legal ways to live in the US, I suggest these people try them.

Best comment of the day goes to Nicodemus1946:

If you voted for "O" in 08 to prove you weren't a racist, do the country a favor and vote for someone else in 12 to prove you're not an Idiot.

Never were there truer words. You need to mark your calendars as today is the day Obama lost the election.

(I've been wondering if he did this on purpose to lose the election.....then I realize, he is way to arrogant to lose that way......)

@Mike in Delray, posts #1.97 and #1.98, excellent posts and right on the bullseye.

@AppeasersFate, post #1.104, I was just thinking that. Didn't someone throw a shoe at GWB and it was considered justified somehow?

Anyway, just real quick like, American jobs are disappearing, America's position of power (on the global scale) is threatened, and American identity is being disintegrated. The world laughs at us because of the fools in power, fools that the people put there. Thus is the reflection of the people of America.

@D-Buck - Your comment here is sickening.

there are legal ways to live in the US, I suggest these people try them.

Yeah, there are. But in some countries, they may end up dead before they get the go-ahead to start the transition.

Tell me, if your best friend was an illegal (hypothetically speaking, of course) - and you lived in the same neighborhood, played together, and found out he/she was from a country that slaughters children or worse, would you condone sending them back to a lion's den?

Would you truly say "Oh, serves that little illegal bitch right. May she rot in Hell! In God King Romney's Name, may that bitch burn" even to your best friend, if you knew they were an illegal? Do you really think life so cheap that you would send someone who had hopes and dreams to their death?

Well?! WOULD YOU?!

You racist, pathetic dog of the Latter Day Saints of Romney's Korporate Kon Klan! Perhaps you should take their place and learn the fear of death yourself!

You make me sick. I hope you rot in hell.

Have you guys NEVER heard of prosecutorial descretion?

As an elected or appointed official, the prosecutor is the most powerful official in the criminal justice system. Prosecutors exercise unfettered discretion, deciding who to charge with a crime, what charges to file, when to drop the charges, whether or not to plea bargain, and how to allocate prosecutorial resources. In jurisdictions where the death penalty is in force, the prosecutor literally decides who should live and who should die by virtue of the charging decision.

Prosecutors exercise the most discretion in three areas of decision making: the decision to file charges, the decision to dismiss charges, and plea bargaining.

The decision to prosecute is based on the following factors:

  • The sufficiency of the evidence linking the suspect to the offense.

  • The seriousness of the offense.

  • The size of the court's caseload.

  • The need to conserve prosecutorial resources for more serious cases.

  • The availability of alternatives to formal prosecution.

  • The defendant's culpability (moral blameworthiness).

  • The defendant's criminal record.

  • The defendant's willingness to cooperate with the investigation or prosecution of others.

prosecutorial discretion legal definition

noun

A prosecuting attorneyÂ’s option to make choices with regard to charges, plea bargaining, sentence recommendation, and so on.

Heckling? Hmmmmm, in the days before the good little boys and girls of the socialist lapdog MSM disgracefully started allowing themselves to be used as props, sitting quietly in neat little rows gazing in slack jawed awe at their noble leader, and only being allowed to speak if and when they are told to,by being given questions the President wants them to ask so He can give the propaganda reply He wants the People to hear, and nothing more,(reminiscent of a scene from 1984), while "Their" President, spews his propaganda unopposed, This, "heckling", is what use to be called journalism, where a real professional reporter, at great personal risk to himself and his career, bravely dares to stand up to such a leader and ask a simple, direct, question , "Mr. President , Why do You seem to care more for illegals than You do for the American People?",and what do the good little boy and girl props do then? Instead of joining in and asking the obvious follow up, "Yes Mr. President, just why are You usurping the Power and authority of the Legislative Branch,in order to pander to illegals in an election year, when Citizens who pay taxes and therefore the bills, are still hurting so badly? Instead,They immediately turn on the man who would dare question Their noble leader, calling for him to be banned from any more of Their "Press" conferences! We can only hope other such men and women are still out their, willing to take the heat in order to actually do Their jobs.

Children were being deported who had never lived in any other country. Too many stories like this have been in the news. You haters need to take a chill pill. Your hate stays with you. We don't much care about you spewing it, but at least know some facts. The Republicans could care less if you are unemployed. The only job they want to keep is their own with all the fringe benefits. Obama has created more jobs alone , in three years than the Republicans did in eight. Keep voting against your own interests or nor vote at all. That's what the Koch brothers and the Birchers want.

Obama should be treated with the same respect he holds for American values... in other words, NONE! He's thin skinned, a narcissist, a Marxist radical and bent on turning this nation into a third world garbage heap. The press protects his weaknesses, and he gets soft ball questions from them at all his press conferences. He regularly insults anyone who disagrees with his policies, sneers while doing so, and the far left loons on this site keep kissing up to him while emulating his behavior. I have no respect for the man whatsoever, and the sooner he leaves office the better. He has disgraced the US in his speeches to allies, allowed critical strategy to be leaked thus endangering our military, and now he wants the taxpayers to pay for amnesty and education for 800k illegals, all of which will likely be borrowed money and added to the future burden of our next generations. Oh, he needs to be respected because he holds an office? He is an utter disgrace to that office and should be removed asap!

You're a fine one to mention "talking pints". FYI, Bush was handed that 4.5% unemployment by Clinton. That's right ... Clinton handed Bush a 4.5% unemployment, and Bush handed Obama a 10.2% unemployment. I should also mention that the highest unemployment since the Depression belongs to Ronald Reagan - 10.8%.

I guess I'd rather support policies that lower unemployment rather than raising it. And if unemployment bothers you, you should do the same.

OK Shaking my head, since you brought it up...

Excactly how has Obama totally disregarded the Constitution? In your reply, would you please include which particular provisiions of the Constitution he has totally disregarded?

Clearly, what you do not understand about the Constitution, is that it is a living document, meant to be tested and with the ability to be challenged. Doing so isn't "total disregard" for it.

To my knowledge, the only serious challenge to the Constitution as a result of Obama's policies would the the health care mandate provision of the the health care overhaul.

Do you believe that GWB's water boarding of detainees, portions of the Patriot Act, or going to war based on unvetted information given by ONE source was Constitutional?

Jim: Bush's overall unemployment rate was 5.3%. Prior to the credit market freeze in September of 2008 the highest overall unemployment rate under Bush was 6.3%. Obama's deficit spending has not held unemployment under 8% and in fact the numbers are closer to 11% today.

Here are some interesting sources for your perusal.

As far as the heckler, well he did what he had to because Obama was just going to give his speech and leave without taking ANY questions.

Sorry mygirl, but your figures are false. I mean, if you’re going to use sources that make stuff up, why not just call it 98% unemployment? Conservatives are exaggerating unemployment and liberals are minimizing it. That’s the problem with partisan information sources. I would no sooner use Forbes than MoveOn. That’s a big problem in this country.

President Obama’s “deficit spending” is damn near nonexistent – I call it a myth. The only significant Obama contribution to the deficit was his ARRA stimulus, initially around $800 billion. About half was realized through interdepartmental revenue reshuffling, and half was realized through income taxes, which were unavailable due to prior tax cuts. So that stimulus immediately added about $400 billion to the debt. But the ARRA stimulus was more like a loan than a grant, and it is nearly totally repaid at this point. Last time I checked, about $60 billion was still outstanding. So President Obama’s actual deficit spending has contributed only 0.3% of the current National Debt. And that is constantly shrinking for 2 reasons – 1) the stimulus is being repaid and 2) the National Debt is constantly growing.

The National debt is currently enormous, but that is due solely to legacy spending – over 96% of what’s been added since the Clinton Administration is due to only 2 things – military expenditures and tax cuts. The remainder is attributed mostly to the economic downturn, which caused a reduction in revenues.

Current unemployment (by official measures) is 8.2%. Since 54% of post-stimulus newly-hired labor was offshored, what does your calculator say unemployment would have been if all new hires had been Americans? I get about 5.9%.

      and from richard-1957365

Maybe it was more Congress than President.

LOL - and if that crap had an ounce of truth, the current gigantic deficits are all caused by the Tea Party in congress. Nice try.

I am shocked by President Obama's lack of respect for legal American citizens and the United States Constitution.

Mr. Obama would have you believe that the vast majority support this DREAM Act when this is not the case.

An immigration policy must have two features:

            1. Stop the flow of illegal immigrants through border security

            2. Create a path to citizenship once the flow is stemmed

The vast majority of US Citizens support one or both of those requirements.

Mr. Obama chose to insert himself into this "king-like" political proclamation instead of having an immigration policy in the first 3.6 years of his presidency.

I am ashamed of him and cannot wait to have him fired in November.

If our President would actually answer questions about a subject then maybe reporters would not feel the need to shout out questions. This President is treated with kid gloves by the press. He expects no less. Ever heard thestory about the emperor has no clothes? The press for the most part is a bunch of lap dogs for this White house. Oh and the reporter did say afterward that he had made a mistake by not waiting until the Pres. was finished. Of course as "Soon" as he would finish he would have turned and run tail out of there. He knew what he was doing would create a stink. Why else do it on a Friday?

Watching the libs call the GOP names and vica versa is actually funny since they are the same people simply switching masks in their theatre called the american government and you all buy it just like the sheep you are. How many pitiful poor little underfed democrats are there. When is the last time you saw a bankruptcy statement on the many poor GOP politicians. Never on either. They play us off one against another throwing out things like illegal immigration as a distraction and we buy it. They create a screwed up economy and on stage blame each other while off stage they raise taxes and vote in themselves raises and benefits that last their entire lives and we all buy it.

You all need to quit being so party bound you can see the big picture past the stupid little things they throw in front of you like slop to pigs. They dont care if there is gay marriage or not, whether there are illegals or not, whether we have health care or not. They have one single agenda. Can we make money off the stupid sheep by having a health care like we did with social security? Can we milk money out of the people from the bailouts like we do medicare. And if they start to notice someone yell something about gay marriage, and someone else cry illegal immigrant. Then the stupid people will be seperated again and we can take another 2+ trillion of bailout money and make it disappear like we did just a couple years ago.

"Is Obama still a good face for president?" "I dunno man if he isnt distracting the american people enough should we put in Romney you think?" "Hey we can do the birther thing again if we need to" There is always war to keep the americans busy" and we all go baa baa baa.

Look at the cabinet members of the last many presidents sometime. They are all related to the same people from the same giant banking corporations, or something like that. Doesnt matter if the president was a dem or rep they are all the same. Whats that make you think huh? If I was a new pres and I picked my cabinet I sure wouldnt want the relative of my enemies cabinet members behind my back would I? And in the meantime the Federal Reserve which is a privately owned company that isnt taxed and has no laws governing it or overseeing it and no one audits it, Controls our money! And we just sit back and things get worse and we fight each other. Amazingly enough for even atheists is that Jesus said it right. A divided house cannot stand. We are divided by party, race, nationality, sexual orientation, financial status, education level, liberal, conservative, etc and while we are the entire political structure of the U.S. is laughing behind our backs at the great game they are playing at our expense. Better wake up while you still have the option to, or perhaps its already too late. When they can tell us they are considering whether or not we can buy a 20oz soda, or eat a large popcorn, things are getting pretty bad, and they are working on that in NYC now. Watch some of the videos about the Bilderbergs and see what you find out. Go to their site and see how they admit and agree that they are behind the New World Order and one world government, but that the conspiracy theorist have it wrong. They only want to control us for our own good. Sounds an aweful lot like hitler, stalin and lenin to me. But if thats what the people want they certainly will get it. Goodluck to you all.

The level of contempt for this President is appalling!

Can someone tell when when in our history a sitting President has ever been subjected to this kind of behavior?

                        I'll wait...

PS: Does this mean it's acceptable to act in the same fashion with Willard's press events?

Yes, the way George W. Bush was ridiculed by the media and entertainment industry was appalling and disrespectful. That was much worse than being interrupted.

only from the right do we see this completely unacceptable behavior. They feel their anger is justified and they feel that if you do not believe as they do, then you are beneath contempt and they are fully justified in expressing their anger.

                        f' them.

Feisty Dumbfux- First off, how many times do we smart people need to tell you that it's "would HAVE". NOT "would OF." I'm not usually one to pick on spelling, but since you do, it's important to occasionally remind you what a dumbass hypocrite you are.

Second. MANY presidents have been treated with MORE disrespect than your beloved White-African-American Messiah. G.W. Bush comes to mind immediately. Quit your whining.

Obama, who is far worse, deserves more heckling especially while he is so blantanly pandering for votes from weak minded people like yourself.

I'll never forget the way AMERICAN liberals cheered and laughed when that crazed Iraqi threw his shoe at Bush. The way they laughed and cheered when Hugo Chavez came here and ridiculed Bush on our own soil. You people whining now? Too damn bad. Your boy needs to take his lumps and STFU.

Maybe you people can get so angry about it you can go burn a flag or something. Just get the hell out of the USA.

The forum was not the correct place to shout that question. That said, I bet someone gives the same question to Carney tomorrow.

We can all agree that this was disrespectful of the reporter. I don't understand the hit on Tucker Carlson though. He hasn't even had time to take action with his employee yet. If he fails to discipline, then you can be upset with him.

Now that we are in agreement on that, what of that question? Is legalizing approximately 800,000 people to work going to help or hurt our 8.2% unemployment? If I were one of those who is unemployed and looking for work right now, I would be furious with this President.

Did any one ever shout out to George W. Bush in a State of the Union address or a press conference in the Rose Garden? Get your facts straight - it's different when comedians make jokes about the president, but such disrespect at an official event is uncalled for. And we wonder why children are growing up so disrespectful now, because it's what they see.

Did Bush get heckled, called names or reamed in the press? Sure. On opinion shows, blogs, whatever. Not interrupted while addressing the nation or giving a statement. Sorry, never happened.

Still not the right place for the question. You have to show respect for the office. Now instead of focusing on the question, people are focusing on the guy from the Daily Caller. This was a purely political decision by the President. I think that is plain to see. The guy from the Daily caller broke the number 1 rule of journalism by inserting himself into the story, and he should be suspeneded if not fired by Carlson.

I know this is not xenophobic enough for the sort that post on here, but these are the facts. All of these folks are Americans in all but legal status; many of them living here since they were very young.

Just because he is the first half-black president to achieve office does not mean we have to bow to him (like he does to foreign leaders) like you do. I only wish we could have fielded a black candidate (who doesn't golf for most of his term) to run against him who could actually perform like a president.

Well, wait a minute. There are legal ways to be a resident with work privilege's and to become a citizen of the United States. A presidential pardon is not or should not be one of them.

If you want to go to any other country in the same way these people come to the US, you will get booted out of those countries.

I am happy to have people come to America, just follow the legal process.

Feisty Redhead, your initial question didn't say anything about geography. So your un-clever response of "and WHERE did that [shoe throwing incident] take place" has nothing to do with your initial question of "when in our history a sitting President has ever been subjected to this kind of behavior?". I answered the question with just one example. Presidents have also been subjected to assassination attempts (Reagan, Truman, Jackson, et al), assassinations (Lincoln, Kennedy, Garfield, McKinley), shoes thrown at their heads (Bush), and the list goes on. You're outraged by a question shouted out before question and answer time? Grow up.

It is just shocking that anyone would dare to interrupt a leader of a nation while he is actiing as a super legislature and legislating law and creating rights in excess of his executive powers.

Here we have it, political jihad at its very best. The problem here is we live in a disrespectful age. The president is known as POTUS. These threads devolve into rank name calling, spurred on by agitators like Feisty Redhead. She, if she is a 'she', is entitled to her opinion but her constant appearance seemingly for the sole purpose of raising discord is suspicious. Our president is disrespectful of the Constitution he swore to uphold. Eric Holder is disrespectful when he stonewalls the investigation into FAST AND FURIOUS. Allowing him to appoint folk to investigate the White House for leaking sensitive information is just to weird for words. Our political parties are disrespectful as well as dysfunctional, we get further proof daily. We cannot be surprised when a reporter for a forgettable rag of a newspaper is disrespectful. He's seen it work for better men than he is. If you want a return to a respectful society apply the rules of respect to your posts.

Is it necessary to call names again. What is so ironic about your behavior is that in attempt to show everyone how intelligent you are, as soon as you call someone a name, you show everyone how intelligent you are.

Now this president has asked the black community to "get his back"...and this is his idea of how he "gets their back". With the rate of unemployment for black youth higher than it has ever been in my lifetime, 67 years, I am wondering how black people feel about this demonstration of the presidents real feelings about them. It seems to me that the only reason he cares about the black community is that they can help further his personal agenda because he is first and foremost a marxist....even before he is black .... just look at the facts..

What's right for the American people is to focus on the American people - not the illegal border-crossers. Americans want health care costs to be reasonable. We don't need more criminals or children of criminals weaseling around our laws till the feds give up chasing them and put out a welcome mat instead.

In 2004, Democrats delivered a “Chorus Of Boos” during Bush's Bush’s State Of The Union when he called for renewal of the Patriot Act., according to the Washington Times.

In 2005, Dems howled, hissed and shouted "No!" when Bush pushed for Social Security reform in the SOU: "Foreshadowing the contentiousness of the coming debate, Democrats broke decorum and booed twice," according to the National Journal.

At the time, CNN's Bill Schneider remarked, “It was unusual. I had never heard it at least at that level before. The Democrats clearly were booing, heckling, saying no when the president talked about the crisis in Social Security."

The shoe incident took place in Iraq, by an Iraqi journalist, in response to the illegal war perpetrated by President George W. Bush against the people of Iraq.

It was NOT a supposed US journalist, invited to the Whitehouse.

IMO: this person should be banned from future Whitehouse events.

"After a pause, he continued to tout the new policy of suspending deportation actions against qualified students for two years and allowing them to instead apply for job permits. According to White House officials, those individuals would have to reapply after two years in the event Congress does not pass permanent legislation in the meantime."

Actually, since an 'Executive Order' can be canceled as soon as a new President is sworn in, his 'policy' could only be effective for about 7 months.

Then it would be back to the previous legal policy, and those granted temporary work permits would be unable to keep working legally. That's why a BIPARTISAN law is the only reasonable answer, but Obama keeps saying 'My way or the highway'.

No President has the legal authority to extend an 'Executive Order' beyond his term in office, which could end in 7 months.

Also, his so-called 'Prosecutorial Discretion' rhetoric is nothing but "The President gets to decide which laws will be enforced and which laws will be ignored" - a clear violation of his sworn duty to uphold all of the laws of the land.

No American journalist ever showed such a lack of respect for an American president before. Likewise, no American congressman ever interrupted a presidential address to Congress by yelling out "you lie!" -- that is, it never happened to any white American president.

Feisty: Actually that happened in Iraq to President Bush.

As for everything else, so when did we elect a President and get a dictator instead? If he just going to circumvent the laws of this country, why did we vote for him in the first place? This is just another way for the President to buy votes and everyone knows it.

Third, if you go online you will numerous posts about hecklers on what they did to Bush. How did Bush take it? He took it well when he said " This is why we have free speech in America".

Why can't Obama take it in stride as well?

                            Does he need special treatment?

Victoria, Why would any AMERICAN be ashamed because an IRAQI THREW a shoe at our President? I thought President Bush got props for deftly avoiding the shoe, instead of getting nailed. You do recall that it took place in IRAQ, right? It did not happen at the White House...

SeekingSanity, did her question say anything about geographic stipulations? Hardly. She simply asked "when has a sitting been subjected...". I mean, shouting out a question before question and answer time? Presidents have been subjected to assassinations, attempted assassinations, shoes thrown, and the list goes on. You're really so outraged as to make a claim like "when has a sitting President ever been subjected" to something like a heckler? Grow up.

Oh, and Feisty Red, you are such a hypocrite, all of you who either shouted down Bush or other Conservative polotitions or who agreed with and backed up those who shout down people who are making point that YOU LIB's doen't agree with. HYPOCRITES!

See, that is what pisses me off. I didn't vote for Obama and everyone calls me a racist. Guess what hun? I was named after Lonnie Brooks (a black man and I am a white girl) and one of my best friends since I was little is black, Teysha. You wanna know what she said after Obama was voted in.

"White people, don't vote for Obama, called racist. Sure. They might not be but I get it.

Mexican or Hispanic people that don't vote for Obama, called racist. They may not be but I get that too.

But why the hell would anyone call me, a dark, fully black girl, racist when she doesn't vote for him? Oh right, cause he's mixed with white. WTH?"

I'm not racist and neither is Teysha. We just know he's an incompetent fool who is further driving this country into the ground. He says he wants American's to have jobs? Why does he encourage companies to move their base overseas? The Obama Administration has spent tax dollars on subsidizing the outsourcing of American jobs to foreign countries. Sure he claims that he's against it but that's only after the support for him dropped drastically. Yes, Bush was a moron. But Obama was an even larger mistake for this country. I'm sorry but if one would look at all the FACTS and NOT what's SAID people would realize why he's wrong to have any amount of power over our nation.

As an American, I'm insulted when anyone shows this amount of disrespect not just to the President but the office he represents... I can say that the more they attack this President the classier he looks...

I'd have to say it was the first time that I'd ever seen the President this upset... If I were that reporter/clown I'd get out of town...

These actions by the far-right only makes me stronger in my vote in November for a second term for President Obama... And maybe we should work on changing this two term stuff... Congress doesn't have it why the white House?

It's too bad there weren't more people there like that reporter. Obama is just working the hispanic voters, who hopefully will see through his retoric. He's just working you over, giving your jobs away, in hopes of getting more votes. He's selling us all out, blatently. Next thing you know he's going to find a way for ILLEGALs to vote.

Don't you think this is a slap in the face to everyone who isn't a citizen that is here legally?

It seems like the morally right thing to do, but if it's not legal then it's not legal. And that's the bottom line. Let the next generation of their families that are born here be legal, let the generation that is here illegally and not deported for whatever reason be the ones that paved the way for the future generations of their family. If they aren't here legally they shouldn't be afforded the rights and assistance that legal residence have. Why does everyone have a problem with that?

First I would like to say as for as disrespect, how can a leader admit one million more people in this country without going through proper channels, with the unemployment the way it is? He talks about young dreamers, how about the young dreamers that are actual citizens who can not find a job, who would like to start a business, and not be able to, what about talking with that group of people? I wonder how much in student loans these ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS HAVE? I know for a fact that if you come here the government will help you start a business and offers free grants to go to school, but try being a citizens of this country and get part of that.

If anyone is being disrespectful it is our ELECTED OFFICIAL WHO IS SUPPOSE TO REPRESENT THE LEGAL CITIZEN. IF you are not a legal citizen of this country you have no rights to our laws or way of life. If you want to be part of this country then go through the proper channels!!!

At least Obama is trying to keep the Dream Act alive, You can say he is doing it because it is an election year or whatever or however you want to spin it. But He pushed for the Act the last time the Right shot it down. At least Obama knows Washington is broken and He still tries to do things that are right for the American people.

Why would you respect someone who is activally working to give your rights away to anyone who wants to sneak into the country? In fact if congress had any balls he would be impeached. But all the politicos in Washington are falling over themselves to see who can give away the most to any special interest group that can get them reelected. 20million illegals working in America while 20 million Americans are unemployed. Hatefly, I will grant you that decorum must be observed when addressing the office of the President. But in these times it's hard to remember that. People are scared and broke and for most intents and purposes without hope. The hard working citizens of this country are the rope in a tug of war between dems and repubs. Neither one of which seems to be genuinely interested in helping the people that carry the country on their backs. Obama is a total loss, we can gloss over all the crap but he has been proven to be completely useless and only really started trying to be productive after it became obvious that he wasn't a shoe-in for re-election. He favors a European type of socialism which is obviously failing in Europe too. Romney serves big corporations. That system is unsustainable in it's current form. People have a choice between the frying pan and the fire. Which do you figure is best?

The Republican party is so messed up and has been for years and than to help you get straight for who to support the they invented the Tea Party. Because the party couldn't be understood. This was a stop gap measure to help you to understand the the mess and you still ain't figured it out. Let me help you.....

                                1. They relate to you religiously. But they don't go to church.

                                2. Fully back equallity of race. This is the biggest bunch Predjudist people I have seen since the KKK.

                                3. They can create jobs. In some other country, heck even Houdini can't pull that off.

You need to get this very clear in your heads. A CEO thinks only in cost cutting. Reorganize and eliminate all the jobs you can. Get all the cheapest of crap you can and shove it at the consumer at the highest price that you can get away with.

I don't buy anything that's cheap if I can avoid it at all nor do I by Chinese, and prople are not a disposable commodity to be lied to, misused, and thrown away.

I spent 24 years in the US Army and if you clowns don't like what I'm trying to get through to you, you can kiss my Red Blooded American A**!!!

You and the TP favor States Rights over Federal power any day. The conservatives of that time were actually "Blue Dog" Democrats that supported States Rights and therefore SLAVERY. The Conservatives of today are Republicans. So if you or anybody else needs clarity, you just need to ask which Party were the Conservatives of their time... (i realize some of our readers need it real simple like to understand...)

TeaPartySuks dude, there was more going on during the civil war than just slavery. We can all agree that slavery is an abhorrent reality of our history and abolishing it is/was the right thing to do. It give more people freedom to pursue their happiness.

The constitution does pass the rights to the people at a local level. If an issue cant be handled at the local level it will and should roll up to the state. If the state can't handle the issue then it rolls up to the fed's.

My point is that freedom is not something the goverment can hand down. The more government is involved in our lives the less opportunity the people have. People should not be dependant on government. If people need help, that should be handeled at the local level. Getting people involved to help in their communities. A little polyana but that is where true freedom is.

Well. he's pandering to his base, leave him alone. He's gotta make lots of promises like he did in 08. If he gets re-elected (God forbid) the folks have one guarantee, he don't need them anymore and he will do whatever suits his personal needs and agendas and promises are definitely made to be broken in Obamaland. Anyone who thinks Obama gives two cents for them is beyond naive. All he wants is to ride around on Airforce One and make promises and kiss up to Putin.

Witness his recent lunch with a couple of barbers and two servicemen. Obama wandered off and left them to pay the bill.

When in US history has a president spend so much time keeping his background hidden?

As to state's rights, well, it is the United STATES of America, not the United Federal Government of America, of course, given time the latter organization will no longer require anything from the states except money.

As to the article, seems about a year ago Obama gave a speech where he told his audience that he could'nt go against the laws of the land, and today, well, he just went against the laws of the land with his new and improved Dream Act.

                                Obama back then:

                                http://youtu.be/J9isifcg9ik

Anyone who is impacted by his flip-flop had better be careful. The man is only pandering for votes and seven months from now, if re-elected, could to a complete turn-around since he won't be needing no votes to push his agendas. He could decide that those 'young illegal immigrants' were a drain on his policies and send them packing. Anyone in their right mind would trust him about as far as they could throw a piano.

This is not America, it is Obama's version of liberaltainia.

The policy will create significant new competition for jobs and university slots at a time of nationwide recession and numerous states' efforts to curb public spending.

"I see a tidal wave coming" mad rushing of illegals at our border.

Half of our college graduates today can't find jobs, and the unemployment rate for high-school-aged Americans is extremely high.

This is unfair to U.S. citizens and legal immigrants who are out there struggling to get ahead.

Reagan declared amnesty with the understanding that the Democrat congress would, from then on, enforce our immigration laws and keep our borders guarded. But then again, that was back when Reagan was president and Americans were still taught about American exceptionalism and the meaning of America's greatness. Liberals now just teach that we are the world's flophouse. Obama's stunt this morning was nothing more than pandering at the expense and destruction of the America our forefathers built.

So, Damage, if what you say is true on its face then why didn't the Republican-controled Congresses of the 1990s follow through with enforcement as Reagan expected them to do?

all i see are hatemongers. the country is screwed and it seems all we want to do is fight and argue with one another. *geesh* this sounds fimilar. the last time our country was great and our government spending was in the green was during the clinton administration. *sigh* remember those times? Obama had taken over a train wreck when he took office and honestly just took a too ideal approach at a solution. we can't work together at times like these. just look at us. and he did say that we are still deporting illegals. but young people who appear to be an asset and possibly create jobs with new businesses will be granted temperary citizenship. whether this will unfold as such or be allowed to happen remains to be seen.

Obama applied for the job. Quit with the 'poor Obama' nonsense. Lots of presidents have faced serious times in our history, how many of them whined, blamed their predecessors and passed the buck? WWII wasn't a picnic, the Great Depression, 9-11, Katrina, Pearl Harbor...lots of things FAR worse than what the Choomer in Chief has had to deal with.

As to the young people? Did they and do they have parents here illegally? What about those people? Focus on the youngun's and give a pass to the people who came over here illegally in the first place?

so let me get this straight. is Obama in the legislative branch? no? then he has no authority to create or amend laws. is Obama in the judicial branch? no? then he has no authority to dictate the interpretation of law. only two forms of government exist in the modern world that allow ONE PERSON to act as all 3 branches...dictators and communists.

does he really not catch on to the idiocy of the statement "ILLEGAL immigrants with NO CRIMINAL HISTORY" ILLEGAL = CRIME?!?!? come on man!

Owen, the group "Hispanic" is made of unique people from different races and cultures from about 25 countries. The vast majority worked hard to come here legally. Whoever told Obama that this group speaks with one voice and supports illegal immigration gave him very bad advice. The position he took on granting amnesty to this small group was a big mistake.

To qualify, you had to have came here under age 16 and be currently under age 30. Now, yes, that could mean you're still a child. But some of them are adults. And contrary to popular beliefs, some of them came over old enough to understand what was happening and what the consequences would be if they were found out.

That said, this idea is not law, will never be law, and is, in fact, unconstitutional. Either way, if it were miraculously enforced, it wouldn't affect any of the 'children' in question, because it requires that they not have a criminal past - and entering a country illegally is criminal. It even says that if you are military and have no criminal past, as well as meeting the age limit, you'd get in - but our military doesn't take non-citizens. Which means they would have to participate in some illegal activities, like ID theft.

Odd how everyone over here illegally is actually a criminal.

I see these responces and it's appearent to me there are some thing you may not like but sometimes you have to suck it up. How many out there really knows what brought down communism? A show of hands please.....I thought so. Remember the famous Berlin Wall? That wall ran from the most northern point and went all the way to the southern most spot. It had guard houses every so far apart, always in sight if the next guard house. There were 2 guards on duty at all times 24 and 7. Maintaining the wall and the guard force was a very big expense. It is one of those thing that took money and gave nothing back. It caused Russia to go Bankrupt.

Now with our current debt I don't think that it would take to long before we go bank rupt with Mexicos situation. The drug problem is a one way expense. What do you think it cost for Fuel for Cars, Boats, and Planes? The border patrol has been inlarged and officers trained. Equipment maintainance. The wall that have been rebuilt. It is a strain on the government that doesn't have a cash return. And there is a problem with drugs coming in from Canada and they have criminals that get into the US also. They are not squekie clean.

Yeh so letting a few Illigals thaat are productive people stay here for a while hurts nothing and it could be a plus in the long run. Not to mention that it helps on the finacial drain and these men can concentrait on more important matters. (THa Border Patrol that is)

That means I aced it and I worked full time...that's called a credential. We are lucky to have this President and if we have any smarts left in this country, we'll keep him in. And if you are not Native American, black or Mexican, STFU about immigration, your ancestors were most likely illegals, land thieves, slavers and perpetrators of genocide. At least, prove your standing first!

Mine were Irish and came over with the Great Potato Famine - and they worked hard and were treated like @!$%#. Oh, and I'm also Cherokee and Blackfoot indian!

Does that mean I can now toss in my two cent's worth about something that will affect a whole country? How about you can't talk about any new tax laws if you don't pay into taxes? Or you can't discuss any laws that will affect and regulate businesses if you don't own a business?

Thankfully this is America, and that kind of stupidity isn't promoted. Mostly.

(And I'd like to quickly point out that some blacks sold other blacks into slavery when slavery was big. Another nice little fact is that back when the first people came to settle on America, there wasn't any real hold on the land, no large decree or something that said - You're tresspassing. The indians here were not as developed and didn't have the idea of land as property yet, I don't believe. We waged a war on them, won the war, and the land was ours. We then created laws that stated that if you were born here, you were a citizen here, and if not, you damn well better fill out certain paperwork.)

That so-called reporter probably got a handsome payday from Little Mitty. He certainly made a fool of himself. The President oozes respect and class in all things. What a marvelous group of people raised him to sustain the kind of distortions and lies he has to deal with on a daily basis. The man is simply marvelous. Thanks Mr. President for showing us how to deal with idiots and fools.

The right wing are so excusing of this type of unacceptable behavior when exhibited by their types. They feel their anger is so justified and they think if you don't agree with them, you are beneath contempt and are derserving of ridicule and rude angry behavior.

From the congress-critter yelling out that the president is a "liar" while sitting in the House of Representives while he was giving the State of the Union speech to this little angry twerp, it's been nothing but ANGER HATE, and CONTEMPT from the right since Barak Obama was elected.

And it's all excused by the right....just like with this twerp from yesterday...."what, he's not allowed to ask a question?" is the position they take knowing full well how pathetic a stance that is to take.

                                    ah well....@!$%# 'em. lol

Stupid Europeans didn't know how to read them. Doesn't look like the blood carried down much. BTW - I pay taxes and own a business, so yeah....if you are not going to be paying taxes, stfu on that too, and if you don't own or use a business, stfu on that, as well.

Of course. There is a great episode of "30 Days", where a right wing self-appointed border patrol "minuteman" spends a month with an family of illegal immigrants. try and find it if you can. Some incredible young people in this country.

Remember, not all illegal immigrants are Hispanic working at low paying jobs. We also need immigrants who are engineers and scientists.

Just like he thinks we need to pass out money to the underprivilaged middle eastern immigrants to start businesses and the middle eastern and other foreign workers he thinks we need to import as H1B visa holders to take the jobs we don't have "enough educated people for". Had enough of this clown yet?

You do know that the executive branch is the one who executes actions right? It's their choice to choose in what way they execute those actions. Many presidents have taken different route in the forms of which they use their executive power on immigration.

The things that were said about George W. Bush were far FAR worse and disgusting then anything you've heard from the mouths of the Right Wing. There was cartoons, and comics, movies, speeches, news paper/internet blogs , tv shows, Radio shows written up and made up about killing, maiming, making fun of, humiliating, putting down, laughing at, disrepecting George Bush FOR YEARS and people have the BALLS to get offended at the slightest disagreement with King Obama.

Dont like Obama, you HAVE to be a racist. Couldnt possibly have to do with political disagreement. Nope. Not possible. Only plausible reason is Racism. So what happens when a Black Person disagree's with Obama? Racism is used against them by the other side and is called a sell out of his own race. Just disgusting.

Give us some examples of any other President of the United States who has flaunted our laws, bypassed the legislative branch of our government at every turn and acted like he was a king and all he had to do was decree something to make it legal. Any day now SCOTUS is going to give him a lesson in his NOT being above the law or the Constitution and in November the real Americans are going to give him a lesson in how our country deals with MISTAKES from the past.

Boston/Cambridge - I don't know the details but what the police did was wrong. Really, no knowledge of the details but you're going to comment?

Florida - If I had a son Trayvon Martin would be the face of my son (or something along those lines). Once again, don't have all the facts but you're going to asssume the black person is in the right and the white/hispanic person is wrong.

Obama isas big a racist as the two idiot Reverands!

Santiago Torres, the reason Obama is taking abuse is because he is a terrible President and leader. This latest stunt is obviously to get the Hispanic vote, nothing more, nothing less. The worst thing this country did was vote a President of color because every time someone disagrees with his policies they are called racist like you are calling people racist. If the American people were racist he wouldn't be President would he? So, once and for all, shut the hell up with the RACIST crap. White Presidents can't play the racist card so why should he?????

Really? I mean Really? Reagan and several other Presidents were shot. Obama got a question shouted at him.

Dude, I don't know how you can say that with a straight face when George W. had a shoe thrown at his head in 2008. Where was your false moral indignation then? Is your memory really that selective? I hardly remember liberals coming to his defense and criticizing the shoe thrower back then. Also, learn how to use a semi-colon correctly.

I live in KY. I am white. The reason I mention my race is because if I were black I would not hear the racist comments directed at our President. I hear people in my state openly say they can't wait to get this n*gger out of office. The only reason they do not like him is because he is not white. Racism is a factor in how people are choosing to vote. It's a fact!

There are jobs out there for educated people who can fill them.

Not u because u are a dumbas- red-neck replican who has trouble tying his shoe.

Look in your paper and see how many jobs are posted for computer tech, software engineer, etc.

Now they can be filled and taxes paid and you can keep hoping they will open a factory where you can put a wheel on or something real intelligent.

First of all you do not realize how many jobs there are out there that you can not qualify for and then you want to kick someone who is qualified out of the country.

This is a joke just like the birther crap... stay in your own country until you can legally come into ours. No other country is this lenient, and if they are, please feel free to correct me.

I'm wondering how many qualified computer techs and software engineers are here illegally....how many were brought here by their parents and are now college educated in math and science disciplines? Perhaps this will now make them eligible for scholarships (there is a never ending supply of those....right)?Of course those illegals fresh out of high school are going to start business' and employ the poor American citizens w/o jobs....because start up money is in such large supply...or maybe their farm worker parents can loan it to them. Stupidest move he's made so far, and flies in the face of the wishes of the majority of American citizens.

First of all I would like for you to take a look at that plate of food you're eating. Is there meat on it, is there veggies on it. Did that food require milk or cheese in the recipe, or grain? I am a "dumbass-red-neck" with a college degree. I sit at my desk during the day and hop on my tractor at night so that people like your cocky, better-than-everybody rear has food in their belly. You might want to think about that next time you sit down to eat, who raised this food, who harvested it, who prepared it, who served it to you. Also, next time you walk in the door to your perfect little house in your perfect little world why don't you think about who cut the wood, who put the nails in it to build that house, who poured the cement, etc. Not to mention if it requires someone to be intelligent to put a tire on, can you change a flat? Bet not. Maybe the problem is "educated" people like you are too good to get your hands dirty.

I'd also like to know how many jobs are out there, you seem to know about them. Seems to me like we're having a problem in this country with unemployment. If there are so many out there, are you the only person that knows about them? Are they all a big secret?

In short, get a life. It takes all kinds of people that work all kinds of job to make this country what it used to be. Obama has made a mess of things. If it was all George W.'s fault why hasn't Obama corrected what he did wrong? Mark my words jobs will not be filled nor taxes paid. The working citizens of this country (college degree or not) will pay a pretty penny for all of the new welfare recipients.

King Obama will disband the congress all together next and just rule as he sees fit. I mean who really cares about how laws are passed in America as long as Obama gets what he wants..right?

Last time I looked...we had 535 people sitting in the Capitol in Washington, DC.

They are the people who should be passing laws. Not some lawyer who thinks he's King - because he's president.

We do still have a Constitution - but Obama tramples it on it almost daily.

MITT ROMNEY WILL BE PRESIDENT ON JANUARY 20, 2013.

Learn to argue effectively? You mean like the President urging Congress to pass the DREAM Act and convincing so many of them that it failed to pass, and then using an EO to accomplish the same thing?

I think I remember Obama saying that there was nothing he could do about the DREAM Act back in September of last year, and now this. I wonder what has changed? Couldn't be politics, could it?

Just like Obama is exercising his constitutionally granted right to issue Executive Orders! If that makes him a dictator then I guess every president is a dictator because they have all written EOs. Obama is not writing laws. That's why this is a temporary fix. He is changing the policy of Homeland security. The law has not changed. That's why he said in his speech that he will still work to get the DREAM Act passed as long as he is president.

Kikster, No, he does not have the right by issuing an executive order when that order violates the constitution. He is not changing the policy of Homeland Security, but is over riding the law. No where did Congress give the Homeland Security the authorization to make immigration law.

I guess in your mind Obama can do what ever he wants with executive orders, that's not the way it works. Congress, not the President, writes the rules on immigration (the President can only sign them into law or veto the bill).

How else is the president going to get anything done? "bypass" congress? Not really, just chooses where he will spend resources. He has had this "Act" before congress for some time...I wish he would do alot more things like this. Especially to get our economy kicked into high gear.

I think for myself, I work hard and make a good living. I'm proud of my heritage, I'm proud my parents immigrated legally, I'm proud that I am not a drain on society. In fact, I'm proud of all Hispanics who work hard to get ahead.

The law is the law, it's choice to break it and there are consequences. It does not mean they get off scotts free. I'm sorry parents made choices for these "children" but I don't believe they should be America's charity case.

Further, this article isn't about the executive order, it was about the rudeness of the reporter. if we want to debate the EO, there is another place to do it.

No more illegal immigration! It's not fair, it's not right and it goes against our laws, plain and simple!

What I don't understand is why these "children" reach the legal age of 18 and do NOT apply themselves to become legal. At 18, they are no longer underage children who are here because of their parents. Legally, they are adults themselves and therefore should be held responsible for following the law of the land just like anyone else. If they are not legal, then begin the process to become legal - why should they be given special preference over anyone else who wants to call the US home and have the rights and privileges of other legal citizens?

As far as the reporter's conduct - out of line. Show respect for the office even if you have no respect for the man holding it. Although, an argument could be made that the reporter treated Obama with the same amount of respect Obama has show the American people. ;)

I don't believe the reporter was trying to disrespect the office of the presidency and perhaps his interruption was out of place, however, I can fully understand it. You can get screwed over just so many times before you become so fed up with it that you can't keep from opening your mouth to holler ""WHY"! If you expect your people to give you the respect you believe you deserve, you must be willing to give them that respect first to prove you are worthy.

Obama's actions appear to be a direct assault on Arizona's immigration law which should be upheld by the supreme court. He wants to give those people "Legal documentation" to avoid having them deported when they are checked for their papers. I don't know how many people know it but he has previously ordered Border Patrol to relax their standards. That is the only reason the alleged number of illegal immigrants has been reduced - not because there are fewer coming across but because they are not being picked up and transported back across the border. If you need to be here to see it with your own eyes to believe it, then I invite you to spend a few days in the area.

I can give you many instances...BTW, I too, am an immigrant. When I.C.E. inspected a major grocery chain in Phoenix, they discovered more than 150 employees who were illegal immigrants working with forged documents. The store was forced to let them go, gave them all very nice severance packages, and the following day hundreds of people were lined up outside the store to put in their applications for the vacated positions. THOSE WERE NOT MINIMUM WAGE JOBS! So the argument that they are only here to do jobs Americans "won't do" doesn't hold water.

The day the whole world operates under a SINGLE governing power will be the day we can call ourselves equal citizens of the earth. Until then, if believe you are so down-trodden by the American system and its people you should find a different country to move to.

One would hope that if you are representing a news organization that was invited to cover the event, you would show the respect and decorum of what our highest office represents. It does not mater what your own personal beliefs are, you have to respect the office and the process. In other words, ask questions during the question and answer portion of the announcement. To interrupt ANYONE in this manner is unacceptable regardless of who the speaker is. You were invited here. And that news organization you are representing should sit you on the bench for a few months until you learn some manners. How childish can you get?

I agree it was disrespect full.

The President was not having a session to answer questions. This was just another of 3.5 trillion campaign speeches no questions please. As far as disrespect, there is enough of that, that when on for other Presidents. Let's not be blind again.

Do you not remember when Bush was leaving and people started singin NA NA NA hey hey Goodbye. That was very disrespectfull and dirty.

He did keep the Country safe after 911.

Hey, they are working, anyway, so this is the plan to increase the tax base and legally collect income taxes to erase the record deficit Obama was handed when he came into the WH.

Nice going, Bush - from record surplus to record deficits. The worst eight years of our country's life...

Earth to Donalex, Bush isn't the President now and he's not running in 2012. Reagan inherited double digit interest rates and double digit inflation and he was able to turn this country around in 4 years. Obama has done nothing with his socialist agenda.

Let's give credit where credit is due, shall we? Paul Volcker did most, if not all, of the heavy lifting as far as bringing those interest rates and inflation under control was concerned. And that was despite the Reagan Administration's objections to what Volcker was doing in that regard. Here's what Wikipedia has to say about Volcker at the beginning of its profile on him:

"(Volcker) was the Chairman of the Federal Reserve under United States Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan from August 1979 to August 1987. He is widely credited with ending the high levels of inflation seen in the United States in the 1970s and early 1980s."

Lisa - Income tax rates weren't part of the discussion. Interest rates and inflation of the period in question were what was mentioned in Lloyd S's post that I was rebutting.

Jbird - Perhaps it isn't 100% reliable, but if I thought of it and Wikipedia, as imperfect as it may be, confirmed it, then that's good enough for me for the purposes of this discussion. I mean, it's not as if I was at work on doctoral dissertation, here. Besides, I was operating on the fly; Wikipedia was the best I could do in a pinch.

Very stupid comment. ONLY Republicans think they're above the law. It's their way or no way. If you just look at the last few years, the Republican Congress has done everything it could (and is still doing everything it can) to block anything the President has tried to do to help get the country moving forward. All the Repulsives have focused on is to try to take away women's rights and cater to the wealthy CEO's and other rich Americans. But suddenly--"OH MY GOSH, BETTER TRY TO GET THE ECONOMY GOING AS THERE'S ONLY A FEW MONTHS UNTIL ELECTION DAY! BETTER MAKE IT LOOK LIKE WE'RE DOING SOMETHING FOR THE UNEMPLOYED AND THE ENTIRE AMERICAN PEOPLE IN GENERAL!!" Also, so many Repulsives have OPENLY STATED THAT THEY ARE DETERMINED TO SEE OBAMA FAIL! Unfortunately, they've had some success BUT IT'S THEIR FAULT, NOT OBAMA'S! It's not Obama's fault that Republicans REFUSE to work with him (even just compromise!) and are going to do their best to try to make him a one-term president.

Once again this Tri-Fecta President has proven he is a COWARD, a LIAR, and a SNEAK. Lets be truthful, the only reason he is doing this is because he wants a vote knowing he can't actually get one the right way, since his record as President is a disaster. I have no problem with someone interrupting him since the press should have "vetted" him long before he could even get one foot through the White House door. They were too busy playing their own version of "Brokeback Mountain" with him. Barack Obama will go down in history as America's Biggest Mistake, and you can thank the Press for that.

Republicans should look very closely at Mitt Romney's ancestors before they criticize the President's actions. Mitt has more relatives in Mexico and his father was born in Mexico where his grandfather moved in order to escape the polygamy laws. That is why Romney has to step very carefully around this issue. Don't be hypocrites people. If Latino men and women are willing to serve in our military and risk life and limb they deserve to have a path to citizenship.

That reporter should have asked: Why didn't the Congress pass the jobs bill? If he seems to care about Americans not having jobs. I participated in a protest where Boehner was at a Republican dinner (it was in the thousands to attend) in Austin, TX. There were about 120 or so protesters outside a bank building downtown. Not ever have we heard much if anything about why Boehner and company would have nothing to do with the jobs bill. They plainly said no.

Not gonna happen. Obama doesn't stand a chance in 2012. Latinos don't vote, kids are not inspired, and the working class can see through the empty suit. His only consituency is the black population (who will vote Democrat regardless of who's in office) and the Hollywood elite. Maybe a few simple women who buy into the Republican "war on women" crap.

When you are the President you get shown disrespect and slandered it comes with the job. Obama is certainly not unprecedented in this regard. He may be a nice man but he is a terrible President, he doesn't know what he is doing from one day to the next and he needs to sack all of this advisors. As for him winning the next election, after pulling this stunt I find it very unlikely. There are no jobs for American Citizens in this country, now he is allowing thousands of illegal Mexicans work permits so we can compete with them now. Big business rubbing their hands together, yeah, Mexicans work for less, get less benefits, and have practically no rights at all. Well done Obama for helping all of those wealthy Billionaires you claim to despise.

Bush was treated far worse, especially by the same people whining about how Obama is being treated. I don't find him to be a good man, a decent man, or even a mediocre man, I find him to be pompous, arrogant, self-absorbed, dishonest, untruthful, secretive and bigoted. He gets away with it due to his decision to become black and not mixed race, which he is. He's John Kerry with better public speaking ability and a different skin tone. If he were white he'd be the night clerk at 7/11...maybe.

President Obama decides that the people of the United States and their duly elected representatives will not comply with his wishes and create law that pleases Obama the Great, so Obama the Great independently of Congress decrees the law that will not be democratically enacted.

Under what authority does the Executive Branch of the United States government enact laws rather than promulgate regulations to aid in the enforcement of laws? President Obama has created from whole cloth a right in illegal aliens that is reserved to the people of the United States.

JEAN 321 -- liberal ignorance and also racism is a big part of what the Obama campaign is about. Sept. 28th 2011, Obama in a speech said that he could not legally do what he just did because: "He had to follow the law". Now he has done it and he should be asked: So, were you lying then or are you lying now?

As for racism for the liberals, how do you explain 91% support from the black community in the last election? Do you suppose they were voting for him because he is half white?? (I am NOT against having a black for president, I'm just against having the narcissistic one we have now.

Illegals are just that ILLEGALS... They need to be driven out!!!!! Mexico does not do anything because the dumb ass americans just let thier people come right over. How exactly does an illegal get to go to school without an SS number? If they do go to school then we obviously know they are illegal, so why the hell are they still here?

If we are not willing to get rid of illegals, then why are we arresting our own citizens for doing illegal things? If they can be illegal, why can't I?

Why should US peoples taxes be used to support illegals? It shouldn't. I do not care about their story, if they don't like it , they should change the country they came from, not run to the US. We can't do it anymore.

It is bad enough that we allow refugees in. That how most of the terrorists got in here along with student visas. Of course the refugees were helped by the Crimminal UN.

Obama is now the largest human trafficker there is. He should be arrested. Why doesm't Homeland Security recognize that Obama is a domestic terrorist? I guess they are to busy with old white poeple and little kids to appease middle easterners. Notice that there are never any news spots on middle easterners getting assulted by TSA.

We all have to put up with all of the BS from Homeland Security not to mention the TSA but it is ok for hundreds of thousands of illegals to be here. Where is the sense in that. Our country is taking our rights away and granting them to illegals. THIS NEEDS TO STOP.

There need to be mass deportations now and we need to stem the tide oof illegals. They should be mass deportred to China, let them handle the illegals.

If we send them back to Mexico just slap an M-4 in their hand and tell them to fix their own corrupt government by force (I am sure Eric Holder has a few M-4's left over from his fast and furious operation)

To allow these young people to stay in America does not take jobs away from "Americans". They're here now, many are NOT working in your jobs, or they take on the dirty jobs you feel too superior to do. So you've gotta come up with a better reason than that. No, criminal activity won't do. The last serial killers or mass shootings, or bank robberies, or Wall Street fraud, voter frauds, price gouging in hard economic times I've seen in the news, were not committed by Hispanics/Latinos. Here in my state of GA, like too many violent crimes, they have been committed upon their own race/ethnic group. Consider what happened to certain farms when many many migrant workers were rounded up and kicked off those jobs, you did not rush to replace them. instead, you sat back and complained about the higher prices of produce as many crops suffered ruin by not enough workers to harvest it, and the farmers suffer now as well. Stop complaining about this smaller matter and complain to your GOP reps to stop sitting with their thumbs up you-know-where and let this country function like it's supposed to. Bill Clinton set us ip for prosperity and Republicans came in and screwed it all up. Now you're telling your fellow "righties", I'll be damned if I let a ------ come in here and fix it".

Both Romney and Obama are hypocrites they do not care about this country, they only care about votes. Why do we have laws if it is ok for immigrants to brake them. It is true that they are taking jobs away. Al of the youth jobs are being taken by adult immigrants, these college illegals are receiving college scholarships to attend school and the Americans are left in the cooled. I know, why don't we just open our borders and just let everyone come and go as we please. that will save millions of dollars on border patrols and give the money to all the poor immigrants that come here and receive free medical.
