CINCINNATI -- Speaking immediately before President Obama's economic speech in another corner of Ohio, Mitt Romney said Thursday that "talk is cheap," and that the president's rhetoric shouldn't earn him another term.
"You may have heard that President Obama is on the other side of the state and he’s going to be delivering a speech on the economy. He’s doing that because he hasn’t delivered a recovery for the economy," Romney said. "And he’s going to be a person of eloquence as he describes his plans for making the economy better. But don’t forget, he’s been president for three and a half years. And talk is cheap. Action speaks very loud. And if you want to see the results of his economic policies, look around Ohio, look around the country, you’ll see a lot of people are hurting."
Mitt Romney, the GOP presumptive presidential candidate, attacks President Obama on what he says has been three and a half years of inaction on jobs and the economy.
The speech served effectively as a "pre-buttal" to Obama's own remarks. (Romney moved up the timing of his speech so as to avoide an overlap.) And it also offered a preview of the looming battle between the two candidates over the election's top issue -- the economy -- in a swing-state that's been ravaged by the fallout of the recession.
Ohio's unemployment rate stood at 7.4 percent through the end of April (the last month for which data is available), lower than the national rate of 8.2 percent. But Romney slammed Obama for the weak national economy as well, urging voters to hold the president accountable for his management of the economy.
"Look what’s happened across this country. If you think things are going swimmingly, if you think the president’s right when he said the private sector is doing fine, well then he’s the guy to vote for," Romney said. "But when he said that, there was such an outpouring of response from the 23 million Americans out of work or underemployed that I think today he’s not going to say it again. I think it’s more likely he’s going to say, 'Give me four more years, even though I didn’t get it done in the first three and a half.'"
Romney's speech to roughly 200 supporters gathered on a factory floor deviated little from his traditional stump speech, but took on an extra air of importance as today marked the first time both parties' nominees have campaigned in the same state on the same day.
Both campaigns consider the Buckeye state to be essential to their electoral success in November, with Romney strategist Russ Schriefer telling reporters yesterday that "There is no state that is more important than Ohio," and praising the state's controversial Republican Gov. John Kasich.
Today, Romney tweaked his economic message ever so slightly to appeal to the Rust Belt state, where manufacturing plays a significant role in the economy and where its revitalization might be acutely felt. The presumptive GOP nominee took aim at China, vowing as he has done in the past to label the country a currency manipulator on day one of his administration, and praising free trade, which Romney said he discussed with local business leaders before the speech.
"Trade is good. Of the business people I met with just a few minutes ago a number of them said that their business relies pretty substantially on selling products to other nations. It’s good for us to be able to trade with other nations. It creates jobs here," Romney said.

Says someone who earns $57K per day!
On another note, I'm so happy for Annie Romney & her horse going to the Olympics to do some fancy horse ballet this summer!
Isn't this what every ordinary working mom does in her free time?
Time for some *popcorn*!
Clipp, clipp...ride the horsey into the Olympics.......Doesn't everyone?
Man Fiesty sure is fixated on money.
Feisty, you are not J are you?
If you are get out and earn some more money. Come on it's America - you are free to do what you want.
Got skills?
Take our fine libbie attorneys here - Anna Molley and Steeler. They both earn $2400 per day, or thereabouts [$300 per hour x 8 hours per day].
Now that's some real scratch. You cool with those type of earning, right?
Of course you are, Anna M and Steeler are on your 'team.'
Speaking of nags - where has old Snuffy been lately?
Someone finally drag her off to the glue factory?
Was she put in 'time out'?
oops
Economy? Is that important? Let's ask Bill Clinton. You all respect Bill, don't you?
In September 2010, Clinton told his Cuyahoga Community College audience in Cleveland that Democrats deserved two more years to fix the nation's economy.
"The Democrats are saying something like this: 'We found a big hole that we did not dig. We didn't get it filled in 21 months, but at least we quit digging,'" Clinton said at the time. "'Give us two more years. If it doesn't work, vote us out.'"
Whoops, that kinda screw's Obama's little wagon, no?
Obama can't fool the masses anymore ....
He's done ....
His poll numbers are in the dumps more and more everyday now .... "LOL"
Adios , Obamos ....
Romney saying talk is cheap is almost funny - he's nothing but cheap trash. All the money in the world can't buy class as Romney proves daily. Man this guy has nothing - not intelligence and clearly no integrity.
What an utter buffoon!
Obama/Biden 2012
Spanky-
Man Fiesty sure is fixated on money.
And you're not??? Plea-zze give me a break.
Talk is cheap for 2 old geezers like you & NitMitt. You don't want to spend a red penny on paying your taxes; darling.
Obama/Biden 2012
Again, the very first comment on the thread. How is it possible that uber lib Fiesty Redhead always has the first comment???
SeekingSanity,
Obama has had no plan to fix the economy for the last 2 years. He and his Senate counterparts have not passed a budget in their entire term.
It seems to me that Obama is the one with nothing to say...
Romney is quickly growing his clown suit..soon he will be the biggest clown around...or is he already??
Vote for Romney and see the return of failed greed based policies from the GW Bush administration.
Obama 2012
What an idiotic comment, Fiesty. Are you implying that her majesty Michelle is the typical American woman? How many gowns and European trips has she had during the last 3.5 yrs(on the company dime) while the rest of us suffer? The Obama's are COMPLETELY out of touch. Sure, the private sector is doing fine while you're looking at it from 35,000 feet in Air Force One. Keep bashing Mittens/Willard while Hussain drives us into the ground.
armurray - wrong, he has put forth many plans which the GOP has blocked as per their plan hatched the night he was elected. Please, try to keep up!
Lloyd, try to grow a brain. Our First Lady has taken fewer trips than Laura Bush during the same time period. And, NEITHER one did it on our dime. The Obama's are far more in touch than Mitts any day. The economy is bad and he is building elevator cars for his wife's car. His own money I understand but how totally out of touch with reality is that when some families can't put food on their tables.
When you have a grown up answer get back to me. Otherwise spew your hatred on an old white grumpy man's site. That's all it's good for!
Obama/Biden 2012
Clearly Obama does a great job with speeches, but is clearly incompetent as a Chief Executive.
Obama's foolish comments about the "middle class is doing just fine" and that the Republican's ordered a steak dinner and martini leaving him a huge bill is just stupid and indicative of Obama's lack of leadership. Even the liberal sycophantic Press can't help erase and hide 3+ years of incompetence by our Community Organizer in Chief. Obama's pathetic attempt to pull the wool over the public's eyes is despicable.
Regarding the "steak dinner" metaphor Obama used yesterday, here are the facts:
BUSH: $4.9 trillion in spending in eight years = $612 billion/year
OBAMA: $5.1 trillon in spending in 3.4 years = $1,500 billion/per year
Obama told us on Tuesday "If they start trying to give you a bunch of facts and figures, suggesting that it's true, what they're telling you is, they baked all that stuff into the cake, with those tax cuts, and that prescription drug plan they didn't pay for and the war"
Well gosh, Mr. President, are you so totally inept that you can't possible FIX or UNDO anything. You're the President. You had total control of two branches of the Goverement by overwhelming numbers for two years. Man up and do something.
You were hired to bring Hope and Change to American, not to bitch and whine.
NOBAMA 2012!
.
John - and the GOPers in Congress were NOT hired to make a pact to block everything Obama proposed! If you'll recall, they ran on jobs, jobs, jobs!
Oh, that's right - it's okay for the GOP to be treasonous since it's the GOP!
Obama/Biden 2012 vote out the Grumpy Old Perverts
SeekingSanity,
So what budget has the Senate passed during the last 3 1/2 years? Is it only available to Obama supporters?
Regarding Obama's economic plans, the ones that have passed haven't worked out very well to date. The only one that seems to be able to pass with everyone agreeing to is extending the Bush tax cuts...
John, you're pretty fast and loose with the truth. The President never said the "middle class is doing fine", he said the private sector with its record profits and soaring stock market is doing fine.
Your numbers for spending under Bush and Obama are also off, as you forget that Bush did not include the wars and Medicare Part D in his spending figures, making it look like spending was much less than it actually was. Obama included those figures in his spending figures which made spending look higher immediately. In spite of those facts, I'll bet you still don't even think you were twisting the truth in your statement.
What are the 'issues' that the Tea Bangers/GOP/ Christian Taliban are upset about?
1. Flag burning
2. Gay marriage
3. Union workers have better jobs than non-union workers. They should have crappy jobs like the rest of us.
4. Democrats have not yet paid off the huge national debt that Republicans have created.
5. Democrats have not yet stopped all the wars that Republicans started.
6. The poor have too much money
7. The rich do not have enough money
8. All Americans will soon have access to medical care
9. The First Lady encouraged kids to eat their vegetables (Tyranny!)
10. The President will not admit that he was born in Kenya
11. The President will not admit that Death Panels are being set up by the Federal Government.
So, in order to solve these terrible problems, Conservatives go to the polls and vote for an end to taxation, vote to allow people to carry assault rifles in the public domain, vote to lower wages for themselves and everybody else, vote to reduce education spending and give generous tax cuts to the wealthy.........because they honestly think that science is a corrupt field and billionaires like the Koch brothers have all the right answers.
Conservatism: They don't call it 'The Big Con' for nothing.
@John-2006106,
I hope your co-worker leaves a mile high pile of work on her desk and you clean it up. With-in her work something is wrong but guess who gets the blame. YOU!
What kills me is the last recession lasted from 6 to 8 years, but some how President Obama should clean it up the first day he got in office. This is the worst the economy been since the great depression and FlipOmney wants to give more to millionaires and billionaires which cuts revenue in half then tell the 99% it's your fault everything is going bad. WOW tone death or stupid you teabag racist are.
If we adopted any of Romeny Filp man polices we would go straight to the depression and would pass go.
He would fire police officers, firefighter and teachers. Yeah those people that caused this mess.
Anyone but the rich caused this. - Including the paper money on wall street.
President Obama 2012
Anyone voting against their own interest is on the boarder line of being a racist.
SeekingSanity (post 1.16)
Yes, they most certainly WERE hired to block most of what our Dear Leader proposes. That's why the American People staged a historic rebuke of Obama and his leftist policies in 2010. After seeing what Obama's special brand of Hope and Change meant, the American people rose up and tossed out Nancy Pelosie and the Democrats in the House and came close to taking the Senate, saying YES WE CAN stop Obama's out of control socialist agenda.
Also, the House Republicans have passed 25 jobs bills that are awaiting action by the Democratically controlled Senate. Senator Harry Reid refuses to even schedule a vote on them. It seems like the Democratic slogan this past year was "WE WON'T TRY"
http://www.speaker.gov/general/25-house-passed-jobs-bills-stuck-democratic-run-senate-0
Well, Obama is going to be bitch slapped in November just like poor Tom Barrett was in Milwaukee when he was defeated, except it won't be a union kingpin doing the slapping, it will be the American People.

NOBAMA 2012!
.
All the money in the world could not make this quote look like it has substance...
Heartlight3,
You are mixing apples and oranges. Bush did not include the wars in his budget. They do show up in the spending figures. This means that his budgeted deficits were lower than what actually shows up in actual reports.
Obama only has actual spending figures since he has never passed a budget.
When you look at actual spending reports by year, they are apples to apples.
Seeking Sanity-
Please remind us which plans you are referring to besides another spending bill that we cant afford? When has throwing money at the problem ever been the sole answer? Name one depression or recession that has been successful without cutting government? And what about a budget?
John - no they weren't! They were hired on the promise of producing jobs - which they immediately forgot. Try not to lie like Romney!
Marl L. - the quote is right on target. You don't like the truth!
Obama/Biden
I'm tired of listening to Obama talk without saying anything. It's 2008 all over again. He can't run on his record, and he knows it. That's why he talks endlessly about Bush and he intentionally distorts and oversimplifies the problems that led to the recession in a most dishonest fashion, because it appeals to his loony base. Mr. President, excluding your die-hard worshippers, the people see through your ruse.
This country is headed for fiscal disaster--not a matter of "if", but "when." We cannot afford the government that we have. I was listening to Michael Medved yesterday (something I very rarely do), and he was saying that every person in the U.S. who makes $100k/yr or more would have to pay $18,000 per MONTH in taxes to fund the federal government. Taxing the rich will NOT fix things. At this point, Romney's plan for fiscal responsibility looks a lot better than Obama's spend-big, fix-nothing, business-as-usual approach.
Talk is Cheap...
And yet with ALL the Kings Horses and ALL the Kings men, this moron can't string a number of those cheap words together in a meaningful enough manner to influence the masses.
That must really CHAP his 'pedigreed' ass, eh?
@Americans against tea baggers,
You're a fine example of the collapse of our educational system with the spunk you just listed.
1. You aren't upset about someone/anyone disrepecting our flag?
2. Couldn't care less.
3. It has nothing to do with good or crappy jobs, it's the fact that they expect above market wages along with obscene pensions/vacations/benefits. There is no comparison to the non-union sector.
4. Both parties created the national debt, you can't lay it on the shoulders of one party.
5. Democrats voted heavily for the Iraq war, once again, it takes both parties. (I never agreed with Iraq)
6. A high percentage of the 'poor' are lazy people that have bought into the liberal entitlement mindset. There are only a couple of people I know on welfare that actually deserve to be there, the rest are just lazy.
7. There will always be rich people no matter what kind of society/government you have, get over it. I have earned everything I have and that's all that matters to me, and no, I'm not rich.
8. It isn't so much that all Americans will have access to health care, it's about how Obama went about accomplishing it, and the presidence it sets.
9. She's not encouraging, she's dictating. She's also pulling the 'Do as I say not as I do' crap, she's hypocritical.
10. Couldn't care less.
11. If you actually read Obamacare you'd see that death panels will exist, the same way they do in Canada and other countries.
12. Taxes need to exist, I don't have a problem at all with paying my taxes, I just don't agree with how they are spent.
13. I support the right to carry a gun.
14. Haven't seen where anyone has voted to lower their own wages, put down the crack pipe. Although I would vote to lower the paycheck for our politicians.
15. Just like the war on poverty and the war on drugs, the more money we throw at it, the worse it gets. Have you ever thought that maybe the money isn't the problem?
16. Taxing the wealthy all to hell will only get them to leave the country (see Europe). What will that accomplish? On the other hand, they need loop holes closed.
17. EPA and the whole 'Global warming' science is corrupt, read up on it.
18. The right has Koch, the left has Soros, no difference, get over it.
Oh, how I love these blame the victim posts. Like the welfare mother who doesn't actually exist, it's an easy straw man for those that are unwilling (or unable) to face the complexity of what's really going on in the economy.
Here's an idea, how about you go back to school and get an education that will allow you at least understand fundamental economics. But that would mean ignoring the right wing bloviating echo chamber from which you get your talking points from and post easy bromides about the motives and decisions of the unemployed and poor in America......
The Tea Baggers and their Republican allies are society's rats. They offer nothing of value to anyone, they hide behind the rhetoric of growth while pursuing economic suicide, claim to be holier than thou while harboring more hatred than any one person can carry without imploding, claim to be more productive while they hoard their wealth, and desire a return to the failed, greed based policies of the Bush Administration.
Nice try selling false sizzle, John:
You forgot to factor the unpaid Bush Tax Cuts, two wars, and unfunded Medicare during his lousy tenure, lying troll.
@Americans
Sheesh! You talk about rhetoric, while your post is nothing but rhetoric!
You dare lecture others about fundamental economics, when you yourself don't seem to understand? Here's a lesson: you cannot spend more than you earn and expect to experience long-term prosperity. And since the tax base DOESN'T EXIST to support our current and future government obligations, either we do nothing and let the economy eventually implode, or we make tough decisions about what we can truly afford. Based on the last three-and-a-half years of Obama, I'm willing to give Romney a shot.
Mitt Romney is another one full of rhetoric but out of solutions. What has he called for? More tax cuts on top of the $2 Trillion dollars worth of tax cuts that didn't create jobs under W? Lower regulations like the unregulated days of W, and the BP Gulf oil spill?
I would love to hear Romney explain how his friends getting more money and dumping more poisons into our natural resources will make my life better. I won't believe it, but at least he would show the courage to say it!
Alex M - do you have a clue how totally ignorant you really are?
A high percentage of the poor are just lazy? Please show me your facts or just admit your stupid bias. (And, I don't know anyone on welfare.)
You don't like how taxes are spent. Too damned bad! Not many of us do
No one wants to tax the rich to hell. However, they used to pay a lot more - during Republican administrations. Why not now?
EPA and Global Warming Science is corrupt. You really need to just go back down into mom's basement and play with Star Wars. You are clearly not sane!
John, John, John....you poor misguided troll,
Why is it that all of the sudden Republicons have 25 jobs bills awaiting Senate and POTUS, and this is the first we are hearing it when back it September POTUS had a bill that the same Republicons rejected? Because it's false, that's why? 25 bills? Seriously?
You know who got bitch slapped? The Republicons that lost their State Senate seats in Wisconsin. So...does it matter that Tom lost. Nope, because nothing Walker wants to pass ever will.
OOoooo....feel that beeeaaaach!
American against Tea Baggers-
Oh how I love the "I'm a victim" game!
I would like to know what the democrats are doing to put this person back to work...or are they just buying those votes?
What fundamentals have you even refereed to, and please don't spout Keynesian dribble, because it is outdated and part of the problem that we find ourselves in today. This theory works for the 1930's but not in a time of the compounded debt we have today.
So now you are against the basic structure of our government...Mmmmm tastes like Communism!
Has anyone else found AATB's post's to be harboring hatred?
The highest spending under the bush years were when it was controlled by a democrats in the house and senate!! Who do you think writes the spending bills?
apparently because Romney will not talk bout Massachusetts, Bain, or his 4x draft dodging.
"You may have heard that President Obama is on the other side of the state and he’s going to be delivering a speech on the economy. He’s doing that because he hasn’t delivered a recovery for the economy,"
-- Priceless
Alex M - you've just proven that you have no clue other than what you hear from the fascist right wing media.
You aren't upset about someone/anyone disrepecting our flag? - No, the flag is a piece of cloth. I do get upset when someone/anyone harms the citizens of this country. And don't launch into this "do you know how many soldiers died for it" tirade. They died protecting the citizens of this nation, not a piece of cloth.
It has nothing to do with good or crappy jobs, it's the fact that they expect above market wages along with obscene pensions/vacations/benefits. There is no comparison to the non-union sector. - It has everything to do with good jobs. If we are to compete with say the likes of China, then the average worker should be happy making about $2.00/hr. I guess you have no clue what it is to struggle to make ends meet. Minimum wage is not enough to feed, clothe and house a small family.
That's all I'm going to comment on about your clueless list. The rest isn't worth the time.
American AGainst Teabaggers--when you went to school to understand your concept of basic economic principles did you already have your mind made up or did you open your ears to learn. Making personal attacks and just spewing hatred doesnt accomplish anything. Instead explain to us Obama's basic economic policy principals including the ones that have worked and will work? Are you one of those people who buy into the rich are stealing from the middle class and poor rhetoric that Obama wants to campaign on? Have you ever actually looked at the statistics? I am a fiscal conservative that voted for both Reagan, Clinton and Kerry so I am not an ideologue. I think both political parties stink to high heaven with their various cronies they look out for in the political process and I hate the GOP party's stance on most social issues. But I dont claim to be holier than though and dont harbor any hatred and I hoard all the wealth I have because I earned it and its mine and if I want to spend it I will or save it I will--thats our US system which is the best in the world. I agree we are on a path to economic suicide in which both parties are to blame and trying to figure out why you think Obama's policies are better than Romneys.
TALK IS CHEAP and can any one of you tell us WHAT IS FLIP FLOPS PLAN for the economy?
NO YOU Can't BECAUSE FLIP FLOP Romney DOES NOT HAVE ONE
Either that or he is writing it on an ETCH a SKETCH
Tonybeeerm--so what is the solution to wages? I agree with you that stagnant wage growth--it really isnt the minimum wage thats the issue its middle class wages. How do you deal with the education gap in which low skilled workers are not valued at the same premium as they were when the US had a monopoly on manufacturing and low skilled immigration labor wasnt coming into the country depressing wages even further? Artifically increasing wages to ensure above market wages only means less jobs not more as US companies cant compete with foreign competitors in the US or globally. You cant just tariff the goods, because countries will retaliate and it would crush jobs of global companies like Apple, GM etc. Its not an easy solution and its not about the democrats or the GOP.
tonybeeerm-
Try burning that flag in front of an average American Solider and see what response you get...
Being such a smart guy when it comes to economics...you are saying it has nothing to do with pay rates that are out of hand? I remember GM paying union salaries before the recession that were 33% higher than the unions being paid under Toyota here, but Toyota was profitable, and the employees were still making $45 an hour. I would imagine that the highest corporate tax rate in the world resides in America, and you feel this has nothing to do with jobs going over sea's, or at least not coming here....

This is Romnut's economic plan
This is not a Democracy that’s a hoax it’s a Plutocracy
Witchking--and you dont think you can create the same list for Obama from people like the Pritzker family in chicago, Soros family in NY, Gates, Buffett and a ton of Hollywood rich elite? Do you have some substantive policy discussion to add or are you just campaigning and unwilling to see both sides.
Romney flat out kicked Obama's ass today- just Romney will do in November!! It was a true pleasure to listen to someone who KNOWS what's going on versus a President that has no CLUE about what's going on or how to fix it. Blame is all Obama has- nothing else.
I went back and looked at some of Reagan's speeches after he won office from the former "Worst POTUS" (yes- that torch has been passed...). What was striking is Reagan did not blame Carter- he only told America how he was going to fix the problem- and he did! America saw a time of prosperity during his terms. Carter couldn't have screwed up more if he tried- Reagan just cleaned it up for him. Obama sounded like he would too at the start- but 3.5 years later- he's STILL blaming Bush for his own failure.
Enough already- America is done with the blame game- and will let him know come November just how much we're tired of it. Romney in a landslide!
bahrrt (post 1.30)
"Lying troll", GOSH, you're going to hurt my feeling with such uncivil discord. I wonder if Obama would be happy with your comments. Didn't Obama say, in the wake of the Arizona shooting of Rep. Gifford, that we needed to elevate our civil discourse. Hmm, just WHAT is a "troll". I guess anyone who dares to disagree with your political opinion should be insulted and ridiculed. Does that make you feel like a big boy?
The main point wasn't accounting gimmicks and such. The main point is, Obama has been President for 3+ years. The debt is out of control. The deficit is out of control. What has Obama done to address this. If you recall, during Obama's televised press conference when the debt extension discussion with Bohener failed, Obama said on national TV, his ONLY condition was that the debt limit would be increased so that it would last until after November's election. That's IT. No concern about the limit, the cuts, spending reductions, ONLY that it wouldn't impact his ability to campaign.
It's NOT "sudden." These Bills have been making their way to the Senate, with bipartisan support for the past 12-18 months. Maybe you're note hearing about the bills because the Media is choosing to "spike" the news, as they do all the time to help Democrats. But last year, bill after bill, for the past 12-18 months have been sent to the Senate. I'm sure there are Pros and Cons from both sides, but the democratically controlled Senate won't even discuss them. Why? Why won't the Senate even schedule debate on them. Perhaps they know an effective Republican Bill will doom Obama's chances for reelection and their own too. But we'll never know, because Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) only wants to obstruct and cling to power, hoping the media and public will blame "Congress" and not understand it's the Democratically controlled half of Congress, not the Republican controlled House.
Instead of just parroting talking points, click on the link to the bills and see for yourself. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
NOBAMA 2012!
.
Yeah, Mitt is right, 'talk is cheap,' and talking is the only thing Mitt the UnFitt has been doing.
kg14051
Okay, then let me try to get through that thick skull...
1) The budget was balanced and we had tax receipts to more than cover our obligations ala Clinton.
2) Under Bush, or during Bush, or because of Bush, or while Bush was apparently doing something else, two massively expensive long term obligations called WARS were started and left UNFUNDED.
3) In that same "the Dems made me do it" period, the massive extremely long term obligation called Homeland Security was created and left UNFUNDED... as was that massive long term obligation called Medicaid, UNFUNDED!
4) So, given we had all these massive long term unfunded obligations, Bush put the icing on his cake by cutting taxes and creating EVEN MORE DEBT! What a f#$%king fool!
5) Then, again, while he was looking the other way, and was busy decimating auditors and regulators with budget cuts while instructing them to "go easy", Wall Street took us to our knees and lowered out tax revenue by $500 Billion per year... THAT'S PER YEAR!
Now all of us would enjoy getting back to a robust economy and balanced budget, right?
But let's be perfectly clear. Doesn't it make more sense to end our screwed up Bush long term obligations like the wars, Homeland Security, the Bush Tax Cuts, and, yes, even Medicaid? Doesn't it also make sense to stimulate the economy to recover that lost $500 Billion a year in revenue?
Of course it does.
So why is the narrative all about the lazy poor people, social security, medicare, and those leaching unemployed?
Because the real narrative would eliminate the Republicans as a viable political party.
Give Romney a shot my ass.
Romney's the one making talk cheap.
First off, I did not say I support or have any intention of burning anyone's flag. Get that through your thick teabag skull. I'm saying I don't get my panties in a knot if someone else does. In words you can understand, no I would not kill someone over a flag burning. Quit trying to hijack patriotism the way you did the Republican Party. Real patriots care for their fellow citizens more than a swatch of fabric. You wouldn't know anything about that since you baggers hate anyone that doesn't agree with you. And what in hell is an average American soldier?
And guess what, houses and new cars were being bought. Cities grew. Kids went to college without having to take out ridiculous student loans that take a lifetime to pay back. In short, the economy rocked. Since then, the unions have made and been forced to take so many concessions that the starting wage is now $15/hr. I agree that when your competition is someone who is happy with a bowl of daily rice and a paper shack for his family to live in, we can't compete. But this downturn in middle class wages, starting in the 1980's, brought us to the brink of collapse in 2008. Many people have lost their homes to foreclosure, their life savings and face an uncertain future. And all you folks have to say is "sorry, tough luck." So kind and thoughtful.
The "Ames" of the GOP/Tea Bangers/ Christian Taliban:
Are GOP/Tea Bangers/ Christian Taliban really naive enough to think that they can make war on women, Hispanics, blacks, alternate life styles, the poor, suppress voting rights, giving massive tax breaks to robber barons while eliminating safety nets for the middle class and get absolutely no resistance?
Blame
Shame
Defame
Inflame
Racism and hatred is a core value to the GOP/Tea Bangers/ Christian Taliban.
The GOP uses the Taliban insurgency as a model for the republicon party ..."to disrupt the entire democratic process". As in the unprecedented use of the filibuster to insure 60 votes necessary to get ANYTHING done, blocking presidential appointees...etc., etc.
What does how much a day Romney makes have to do with all the tea in China?
And the debt is growing about $3 million a minute, even during Obonzo's vacation too!!
Americans against tea baggers:
Your post describes the lib agenda to a tee. The poor are getting poorer and the rich are either leaving or getting richer under Oblame'O. Good work.
All this lib 'talk' is just 'talk' and won't help Oscram'O in November anyway. The poor economy alone will do him in. He'll be out and gone.
Truly ... Romney or any of these new republicans have zero credibility. Zero. None. Honor obviously no longer resides in this new GOP. Ask ANY old republican. They'll tell ya. The most rightious is Simpson. That guy takes all the guess work out of it and he will tell you, like so many others, that this new party is completely UNhonorable. Only proof I need. Simple math. Confirms what we already know. An idiot could figure out these phonies are unhonorable.
Romney and Oblame'O's economy will wipe the floor with Obonzo in November. Obonzo, just keep talking and you'll be out on your face in January.
Anyone who voted for Obonzo has no credibility since you believed his hope and change garbage and he failed and continues to fail, so your opinions mean as much as Obozo's. Zero.
Yawn. Romney the liar gives a speech and says nothing.
Baby Bush part deux. That's his policy. Worked so well the first time, yes?
BTW...........its pointless to argue with paid commenter's, I would like to know the going rate to be a traitor to your country though.
Hey Kirk295728
So where is your List?
You don't have one DO YOU
Just like the Flip Flopping Romnut Doesn't have an economic plan Except for the one he makes on an Etch A Sketch to what ever group he is pandering to that day
John,
I call them as I see them Johnny, because, you are part of the misguided problem in our country. And, it makes me just a tad upset. Just sayin. Obama would be fine with it. Why bring up Rep. Gifford? This has nothing to do with that.
Your main point is to somehow make, or paint, Obama as Willard would. Incompetent.
Latter in this post I cited (refer to page 4 of the thread) 90 effective, and successful policies performed by this POTUS. Your point is nonsense.
This is also, nonsense. If there were bipartisan support for ANY bills they would have passed. The reality. They were not bipartisan. That is why they didn't pass.
“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” ~Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader, (R-Ky.), October 2010
Bottom line is you are in line with this rationale, John. I call it like it is.
Republicon Troll.
And if I ostracize, criticize, alienate, it is because of very good reason. Labels identify those that need it, or want it. I would imagine I would get the same if I went to a Fox thread to spread the truth, but I have better sense than to waste my time trying to console the unconsoled.
Feisty - I just noticed Snuffy's absence, too. She hasn't been out since the night she was so mean to Anna Molly. I think she has been sent to her room. Perhaps she doesn't like being called a big, mean bully.
bahrtt (post 1.57)
The Bills DID pass the House, with strong bipartisan support. Instead of calling a vote in the Senate, Harry Reid has simply refused to allow debate, so they are all stalled in the Senate. Do try to read more.
Silly liberal!
.
I give to you example A of a nonsensical liberal that is so mired in blind faith of our current liar-in-chief, that they refuse to look at facts and instead believe the falsities spewed by this administration.
Here is someone that thinks that everyone else has forgotten that Obama had both the senate and the house for 2 years and every plan he hatched, from TARP to ARRA to Obamacare, has failed miserably to do what he thought it would. SS (nice initials by the way...super socialist maybe?), this president has put forth one budget since he was elected, and that budget was defeated 0-99. He has NOT put forth plans.
Are you delusional? It didn't cost us anything for the First Lady's vacations to Spain, and Martha's Vineyard? Hell, that little publicity stunt trip to Target last year cost us a fortune in secret service and security so the press could show us she's "just like us".
Uhmm...the Obama's really haven't ever had a job in the private sector, where 90% of us actually struggle and work. In fact, Barack has never had a real job. Oh sure, "Constitutional Law Professor"...but he never taught a class (not to mention this guy tramples the constitution daily). Community Organizer (*cough* campaigner). Senator in Illinois (nope...never anyone corrupt in that state). He wants to portray himself as being "one of us"...yet, there is not a thing that is anything like most of us.
I must say though....SeekingSanity is an apt moniker for someone that has no sanity....Good luck with that.
The truth: The economy is in the hands of both sides. It (the economy) will go nowhere without demand. And, except for any demand we can wrestle from the likes of China or India, demand is pretty much dependent on consumer confidence. And until the collective WE gets our act together and eliminate this discourse, we are destined to a life of slow growth, loss of net worth, and a destruction of virtually all human support structures.
We either eliminate this discourse or someone needs to win outright and finally put us in SOME direction. We have no bipartisan path in sight.
LMAO
Yes talk is cheap.. but rpeublicans only practice obstructionism.
I will never for the rest of my life vote for a Republican based off of what I've witnesses with Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2.
I might pull the libertarian level, but I would rather fight a civil war then share this world with a far rihgt wing mindset
Apparently talk is not cheap if you go by Romney's super pac. An estimated 1 billion for his election campaign.
It's a funny thing why the rich aren't doing that, because their private sector is doing pretty damn good...
He got it partially done in 3.5 years; he could have finished the job had you GOP lackeys not sabotaged his every damn move.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
Don't like flag burning, but as you conservatives like to say, it's all about the Constitution.
Not related to the article, so I'm not gonna say anything.
Actually, unions tend to have the political capital to leverage good deals from employers. You do realize that Americans on average spend less time on vacation then their foreign counterparts??? It used to be that non-union workers benefited from unions when unions were more powerful; now that they have shrunk considerably, the difference has grown.
Of course both parties created the national debt, but it would have been significantly lower had we not engaged in Republican policies like tax cuts and unnecessary wars (not to mention terrible economic policies). And it is a notable fact that Democrats, while tending to be more fiscally responsible then Republicans, are castigated as tax and spend liberals. We liberals blame Republicans for the past 30 years of irresponsible tax cuts and spending measures on fraudulent measures.
Some Democrats did, but many, I will wager, were forced to by the public opinions of the US after 9/11.
Don't give us this welfare queen BS. Our welfare state is one of the least generous in the world; and the main reason why spending on welfare has increased under Obama is the recession; and don't tell me that the majority of people on welfare are bummers. if you know some people on welfare who shouldn't be there, report them. That's your responsibility. But after the recession, millions lost their jobs and were put on welfare programs like food stamps and unemployment benefits so they could stay afloat financially. Do you want to see a million-man army of beggars traversing our streets??? And by the way, do you think that the majority of welfare recipients like relying on other people for support??? Don't you think that people on unemployment benefits are ashamed for not being able to provide for themselves or their family or having to move back in with their parents??? Stop making these innocent people ashamed. For long last, have you no decency???
The wealthy, and the poor, will always be with us. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't have a progressive tax code that has people at the top pay more money than those at the bottom.
Oh who cares??? Obama accomplished it using the old idea that Republicans pushed to counter Clinton's plan to reform healthcare. Don't tell me that Republicans have done some dirty stuff to get things passed. And by the way, healthcare isn't like most other industries; everyone will eventually need access to it. I don't care if your 35 and healthy; eventually you might get cancer, and whose gonna be footing the bill??? The broccoli industry doesn't need everyone to participate in it; the healthcare market does.
Oh come on!!! The First Lady is pretty damn good at staying in shape. Not that I follow it, but she looks pretty damn healthy. And since when is advising kids to eat healthy dictating??? If so, why don't we blame Bush for forcing Americans to fight for oil.
Those aren't death panels; their panels that ration healthcare. Let's face it; not every procedure is necessary, be it cosmetic surgery or maybe even laser eye surgery. We cannot fund every procedure. Even countries with great healthcare have those panels, and I don't see people over their rioting about "death panels."
Sometimes I don't like how the money is spent either. But if you want to cut the deficit and make things better in this country, you need more taxes.
Actually, it's being going on the for the past 30 years. People keep voting for right-wing extremists who have caused stagnant wages and increased economic inequality via failed economic policies. It makes me wonder sometimes why Reagan Democrats buy into the right-wing's crap.
Money is part of the problem, but it isn't the whole problem. The war on drugs was a bungled operation, and the war on poverty wasn't complete. Both had various measures of success, but we could still do more.
Actually, wealthy people don't have a great place to go other than China. And even there, the government controls on freedom of speech and such wouldn't really make it appealing. Wealthy households now pay 18.1% of their income in taxes, down from roughly 29.9% in the 90s. I think returning to late 90s levels wouldn't cramp their budgets.
How come our air's polluted and the ice caps are melting??? Did atmospheric pollutants come from Mars, or did radical terrorists light fires in the Arctic???
You fail to remember that most rich people and corporations are Republican-leaning. Tell me the last time oil companies fully backed a Democratic candidate for president in the past decade, or when bankers opt for more regulations???
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
Freshie do you get your talking points from feisty redhead who in turn get hers from buckwheat telepromter. You guys or brainwash. Have to face the fact buckwheat is a loser now that he has a real record.
Nope. I get my own talking points. Do you get your talking points from Rush and Hannity??? You ought to face the facts; Romney is a 1% corporate shill who has DOES NOT understand the middle class.
OBAMA BIDEN 2012

Here's the rundown on Mitt Romney's devastating record as CEO of Bain Capital, a tenure marked by bankruptcies, bailouts, and mass layoffs — all while Romney and his partners raked in Billions of Dollars in profits for the firm and Romney himself amassed a Quarter-Billion Dollar Fortune.
Romney's Bain Capital Caused Mass Layoffs, Sent Jobs Overseas
Thousands of Americans were laid off by Bain Capital at companies it purchased, managed, and, at least a quarter of the time, drove into bankruptcy, ruining Lives, Destroying Careers and Families including Many Many Suicides While stuffing his pockets, Keeping his Darling son OUT of service to his country with the line "My son is Fulfilling his Patriotic Duty by helping me get elected"...Got that one?? and, Of Course, installing the InHouse car elevator for his "darling little boy's $180,000Ferrari....Listen Up People...This guy IS Count Dracula In carnate. A vote for ANY Republican politico is a vote against Yours and YOUR FAMILY'S Well Being. You can take that to the bank.
With more than $4 trillion in cash setting on the sidelines, it should come as a surprise to no one why the economy added only 69,000 jobs in May and unemployment grew to 8.2%. The private sector is more efficient at creating jobs than the government. It’s the government’s responsibility to ensure fair and efficient capital markets to maintain investor confidence and trust.
The fact is, Americans no longer trust Wall Street, which reflects negatively on federal banking and market regulators tasked with protecting investors, and hampers economic growth.
Please sign the petition to the U.S. Senate Banking and
House Financial Services Committee asking for improved oversight of federal
banking and market regulators.

It'll just take a minute!
Romney tweaked his economic message to the rust belt by telling them to ignore what he would do to a shaky manufacturing business (fire the employees, sell off its assets and raid the pension fund). A little surprising that he would discuss with local businessmen their concerns - after all, isn't Romney the business guru that knows all things financial?
I missed the speech but what did O have to say about:
Jobless claims, inflation, foreclosures and deficits all going up?
What did he say about:
GDP, Real Estate values, and earning all going down?
Recovery Summer Part 3?
Sure it is.
What Obama did say was we need to INVEST IN AMERICA. Put people to work rebuilding our infrastructure.
Now that makes more sense than Romney's cheap talk.
So, ummm, Don't, just where prey tell will the money come from that will be used for investment?
Would that be the private sector? You know the one that, despite Captain Wonderful's best try, really is not 'doing just fine?'
Nope, we be broke. And being broke sucks.
So did you catch Alter's impression of O's speech?
Oh Noooooooooo.
Spanky you are so predictable you're like Romney - boring. If you didn't catch the speech, you can certainly find it online. You DO know how to do that, right?
Let's just say Obama has plans whereas Romney - as usual - is an empty suit looking at his handlers and asking what to say!
Obama/Biden 2012
SeekingSanity: There is no reason to see Obama's speech. He's been blaming everyone for 3.5 yrs. He certainly can't talk about his abyssmal record. He's just an empty suit but he sure can talk. It was Obama who said "words, just words."
Wow "don't carry it all", are you still buying the "building the infrastructure - shovel ready job" pitch? Most of that money went to line corrupt supporters. Biden came to GA 3 yrs ago to talk about "shovel ready" laying of fiber-optic cables but nothing has happened. All smoke and mirrors.
Ursula-279622
Romney tweaked his economic message to the rust belt by telling them to ignore what he would do to a shaky manufacturing business (fire the employees, sell off its assets and raid the pension fund). A little surprising that he would discuss with local businessmen their concerns - after all, isn't Romney the business guru that knows all things financial?
Yup,Ursula
More like Gordon Gekko the greedy villain in the 1987 movie "Wall Street" going around gobbling up smaller businesses for him and his Corporate Raider cronies personal wealth!!!
Dont_carry_it_all,
Obama already did that as part of his spending bills during his first two years. I guess you don't remember all of the "shovel ready" jobs he paid for...
Obama makes me recall an old saying:
Those that can't do, teach.
As a college professor and Community Organizer, I think Obama exemplifies that saying. After 3+ years, Obama has clearly shown us he's incompetent as a Chief Executive. Even his speeches are getting ridiculous, bitching and whining about "steak dinners" and how we need to grow the public sector to hire more teachers, police and firefighters.
- Instead of bitching and moaning, why doesn't he try to govern?
- Instead of holding 150+ fundraisers in a few six months, why doesn't have have cabinet meetings to "focus like a laser beam on the economy?"
- Instead of pledging to "put on a comfortable pair of shoes and walk a picket line" why did he only Tweet a message or support to Wisconsin Democrats on the eve of the recall election? When a President submits a budget for FY13 that is defeated with BIPARTISAN UNANIMOUS opposition, you'd think he'd get a wake up call. Obama talks the talk, but clearly can't walk the walk.
Obama has shown us that Jimmy Carter was not our Nation's worst present. Odumbo is!
NOBAMA 2012!
.
John - and those who can do nothing ride the car elevators up and down all day - like Romney will be doing come November. No one has wanted him to work for them for a very long time - we don't want him now!
Obama/Biden 2012
While the economy go up in flames you have people saying were is the money going to come from.
I would ask, if the economy do go up in flames were is your next job going to be?
Spanky -- You are on the wrong side of this issue. Business is pushing for infrastructure investments and improvements as well.
The Obama campaign should run ads on that -- INVEST IN AMERICA...call Congress and tell them to put America first. Millions of jobs being stalled because a faction in Congress has hijacked the system.

Lloyd -- Are you anti-business? Reasonable Republicans are saying behind closed doors they know we need to invest in infrastructure. Look around, our infrastructure is in desperate need of repair and upgrade.
Nope Don't - we businesses don't want any more taxes.
Cause, um, I'm not sure if you know this, but that's where the $ comes from for all those neat 'investments.'
Besides Don't we already done did that - 'member? The Stimulus and shove3l ready jobs?
I still see the road signs. I know you do too.
Nit-Mitten's states "Talk is Cheap". So when is going to start giving the Press some real interviews, besides that spoon fed crap we hear over at FUX News? Is his campaign worried about too many "Palin Moments".
Obama/Biden 2012
Your people need to get off the Kool-Aid and drink some coffee. Obama/Biden 2012.
Mitt grow up an entitlement baby on parental warfare. He can't relate to normal people anymore than the neighbors in a Mormon community can relate to a person who enjoys drinking a cold beer after a hard day at work.
and let's not confuse what he did as "hard work." Mitt wouldn't know a day's work if it bit him on the a$$.
Yeah Mitten's is wrong, talk isn't cheap cuz we will be paying big time for generations to come for all this worthless rhetoric from Ocrap'O while he does nothing cuz he's clueless.
By the looks of the economy alone, Oblame'O has no plan and has failed. He's fired.
So WHERE IS ROMNUTS ECONOMIC PLAN????
And WHAT IS IT?
You can't answer that because HE HAS NONE
He destroyed the Economy in Mass. and won't even carry that state BECAUSE THEY KNOW HE IS A PANDERING BS Artist who will say anything to get elected
WHAT IS HIS PLAN?????
Ocrap'O grew up with free handouts and Affirmative Action. Without it Kenya would still have their village idiot.
Who needs a plan while we have OworthLess?? He still doesn't have one and never will. One plan is to get a qualified president with experience, i'd say that is job one.
She sounds a lot like the wife of a certain Senator, once running for election in 2004; she could buy and sell Mrs. Romney five times over.
Like Mrs Kerry-Hientz, ...or is it Heintz-Kerry?
Received this text message from a friend in Wisconsin that's majoring in Law:
---------------------------------
"From the start of his campaign, Romney lies and continues to lie, distort, and make broad, ambiguous statements about what he believes the President has or hasn't done for the nation. I think that Romney and his regressive-right-wing friends are highly allergic to fact-checking whatever they say. But there will away be millions of undereducated people in this country who will easily buy into his bull, as well as buy into the supportive, slick-marketed b.s. that Fox News keeps broadcasting to their Republican-voting audience."
Fro Romney to say talk is cheap..he should know..he has said little about what he will do as president...he has made lots of claims as to Obama has not done..he has also not mentioned the fact that the republicans have blocked everything that might have had a chance at helping this nation..along with this statements that...he will not speak to subjects that bother him with the press. Talk is cheap..Romney should surely know.
Talk is cheap, unless you have hired Mitt Romney to speak at an event.
TALK IS CHEAP, Well there Mr. Romney you have been cmpaigning for 7 years and you have yet to articulate a solid comprehensivep plan for this country so i guess your right TALK IS CHEAP and you would know better than anyone
Simple; either borrow money at historic low rates and pay it back when the economy is better (which is rational), or pay for it via tax increases for millionaires and billionaires.
If we're broke, than the wealthy should now be paupers. But we're not; the money's in the wrong hands. Instead of the middle class having enough cash to spend our economy to health, trillions are now in the bank accounts of wealthy Americans or big corporations. If we simply transferred that money to more productive investments instead of bank accounts or overseas tax haves, the economy would be much better.
Sorry, but everybody's gotta pay to get this deficit down and this economy rolling. Some more than others, but everyone still pays. If you want the debt to go down and your business to improve, tax increases are your only option.
Yep, and the stimulus saved or created up to 3.3 million jobs and reversed the recession. Imagine what a bill like that focused purely on spending could do to create jobs NOW....
And those road signs show that it's still creating jobs....
OBAMA BIDEN 2012
The Romney crowd was falling asleep during his speech.
Actually, one of the two white guys behind him was picking his nose...
Where was the crowd.....did anyone yell "We Love You"?
Did Romney say the private sector is fine?
He won't talk about his personal/private/Bain financial accomplishments.
chilled - the Romney crowd was trying to help the environment so they car pooled home in one of those smart cars - ONE!
Obama/Biden 2012
Reading is Fundamental, Sanity. The article says there were about 200 factory workers. Are you distorting the numbers ..... again ?
Workingone,
That statement was comparing the private sector to the public sector. You need to read the whole article...the whole comment.
The Clown Car.......that's a good one, Sanity!
WHOOPS - there HE is!
Why not try getting a life Jim-Boy & quit stalking women on this board!
Feisty - because he has a legal order against his stalking in real life!
Did he eat it? And are you not surprised that it's "white guys" at a Mitt rally? (oh, oh, I just opened the troll door - "you guys are so racist!" "pot calling the kettle black!" "hypocrite!!") There, thought I would take care of it for them.
Hee, hee! I'm beginning to think that some of these troll regulars are inmates. Rove and Co. had to recruit people with lots of idle time on their hands. Guess it fits. A couple of packs of smokes and a copy of Hustler magazine and their good for quite awhile.
No, but he has said he doesn't care about poor people. So about 30% (and growing) are about to be discounted by this wonderful human being. Makes you proud, doesn't it?
FEISTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PuullllEEEEZZZEEEE Use a LADY"s Finesse when posting, OK??? No One and I mean No One wants to read about someone "P***ing his nose" while Prez O is speaking. And PULLLEEZE Do Not use the term "Ta*king a dump"..We are ON THE SAME SIDE, PLEASE Conduct you Posts with More LadyLike Terminology....OK???
Mr. Romney, sir, we are still waiting to hear what you would do differently. We are waiting for you to come before the public, answer questions and present your plan. Until then, if we are to believe that things would have been better under you, sir, or will be better under you, all that we have is your word. And frankly, sir, based on your past record of changing positions (like a girl changes clothes), we find that your word is a little hard to believe.
3togetReady, you must've missed it, but Romney HAS indeed laid out a plan for the economy - and targeted to the middle class!
1) Find a cheaper college
2) Ask your parents for a loan
3) Let your house foreclose
That along with an "atta boy!" and a pat on the back should do the trick, don't you think?
3togetReady
Mr. Romney, sir, we are still waiting to hear what you would do differently. We are waiting for you to come before the public, answer questions and present your plan
NitMitt has a plan. It's to sell his t-shirts. Ha Ha
Have you seen those 100% Reversible Mitt Romney T-shirts?

Making what's old, new again!!! Ha Ha
Romney tweaks Obama's speech: 'Talk is cheap'
Yes indeed willard, talk IS cheap.
"I LONGED to be in Vietnam"
.
Finally, teapublicans have a candidate that perfectly represents, their plastic, hollow, one dimensional, small minded political ideology.
How sadly pathetic.
Willard. How pathetic. Can't talk about the issues. Just name calling. Typical liberal-speak. The lib small minded ideology => spend our way to prosperity, bash Romney for being a success, pander to the illegals for votes, write more welfare checks and food stamps.
Ummm... willard is his name. The rest of your post was as empty, as your head..
Oh... illegals don't vote junior.. regardless of what rush told you.
Conservatives are fiscally responsible. Oh, really? Where were they when George Bush piled on the national debt with two wars, a massive expansion of Medicare, and tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires? Or when Dick Cheney proclaimed, “deficits don’t matter”?
Americans against Tea Baggers - you're not allowed to mention the Bush word. Their little heads explode when you do!
Romney talk is always cheap. It flips and flops with every slight breeze. He either does not remember his position on every issue yesterday, or, he hopes the American people will not remember. He called for Bush to initiate a stimulus package in 2008. Then, in 2012, he condemns Obama for following his 2008 advice.
Romney knows that the public no longer believes a word obama says! How to you tweak another lie, another broken promise? Can't wait to hear Barry's Jobs Speech v4.1... remember the first one a few years ago titled "Shovel Ready Jobs" before QE 1 or was it QE 2? When Barry speaks, the nation naps!
The Grand Obstructionist Party has blocked all jobs programs offered by President Obama in order to meet their stated agenda, "make Obama a one-term president". The GOP doesn't give a Rat's A$$ about America, they have always been about money and power! The Stimulus Bill was too small because the Repuknics would not vote for what was really needed. If you are middle-class and you vote GOP, you are voting against your own future!
P.S. No administration could top Bush / Cheney for lies...not even Nixon's!
Romney would have to drop down a couple notches to level the playing field with Barry Obama! Why does anyone pay attention to a guy who's never held a real job in the private sector! I mean except for those folks he's made dependent on govt handouts the last 3 plus years!
The answer is no one nobama.
Romney never had to look for a job, everything he is was handed to him on a Silver platter.
That private sector experience Romney had, was a job titled tear down the middle class for huge profits.
I hear he was outstanding at his job.
Obama 2012
Romney is a Used-car Salesman in an expensive suit! Another coorporate sycophant selling trickle down economics! If the Greedy Old Party has their way, the middle class will continue to get "trickled" on.
Obama has been pissing on the middle class since he took office. Like Hitler, a great orator full of lies. People loved Hitler before they realized he was going to devastate the country.
Our first "Hitler" post of the day !!! LOL!!
Little lloyd is on a roll !!!
Gee, I thought the libs were calling the Tea Party Nazi's since they first came to the scene!
"thought"??
"Thinking", lloyd,.. maybe it's just not what you're good at..
Just sayin'
Lloyd S, you'll see lots of contradictions and double standards from our liberal friends here! Intelligent discussions are certainly not part of their agenda...lol! Acrimony and mean spirited name calling is the liberal game plan..... see any feisty dumfux post for confirmation.
Intelligent retort, K1200RS
Hot Robin in NM, I don't know if you're hot but the baby is precious!!!
Stay on topic Lloyd and quit thinking with your thing. Another horny repugnican.
Obama/Biden 2012
@ Robin, Obama is going to be your President for another 4 years....and then 8 with Hillary...so go ahead and make sure the rope is snug and tight, and kick that chair out from under your fat, sorry butt.
lol Americans against...7.9.. I would bet everything I have that Robin in NM could kick your sorry a$$ around the room even with her baby in her arms! Libbies have one trait... all talk and no bite! Let's get it on whimpy! Really... you challenged.. can you back it up? Wow, this site is getting closer to a wrestling blog every day!
Robin the name calling comes form the fact that most of us HATE YOUR GUTS
I am not happy with Obama at all. .BUT I owuld rather fight a civil war against far right wing republicans then even consider voting for one
Maybe some person on the Right will anwer this question for me. I'm very puzzled. The GOP accuses Obama of increasing spending, but how can that be? Obama doesn't have the check book, Congress does. Congress makes the appropriations, and since 2010 it's pretty safe to say the everything has been blocked. At the start, Obama was working off of Bush's last fiscal year. The stimulus that was added was 2/3 tax cuts and money to the states, so how is that spending (or bad spending)? Even in '09 and '10 the Senate was pretty dysfunctional. The GOP complains that the Senate hasn't passed a budget in 3 years. Yes, spending on Afghanistan was increased, and yes, that was Obama's choice, but then the GOP says that was the "good war." So is it bad spending or not? Where did the spending come from that wasn't already "baked in to the budgets" by annual increases from legislation prior to Obama? And don't overlook the projected deficit. It looks much worse from Bush's projections, because the projections then factored in the end of the Bush cuts. If those cuts aren't reversed or if magic growth in revenues doesn't offset the cuts, by 2020, the Bush cuts will account for half of the deficit.
I dont understand you - You blame Bush for his spending, but refuse to cast the same net on Obama for his spending -
Are you referring to the Bush Tax Cuts that Obama Signed into Law?
The GOP accuses Obama of increasing spending, but how can that be? Obama doesn't have the check book, Congress does. Congress makes the appropriations, and since 2010 it's pretty safe to say the everything has been blocked. At the start, Obama was working off of Bush's last fiscal year.
And who controlled congress and the check book from 2006 on and would have set the budget for Bush' last fiscal year. That would be the Dems. The Dems began increasing they budget when they took control and Obama has continued the spending without a budget since the Democratic controled senate has not passed a budget for the entire time Obama has been in office. You say congress controls the check book, not the president. Well, then the Dems controlled the check book at a time spending drastically was increased.
No I'm trying to figure out how Obama was able to spend/appropriate any new money after the Stimulus. He had a uncooperative Senate from the start and since the start of 2011 a House that passes no spending. So how did he spend anything new? Bush had the veto pen and chose not to use it. Obama can't spend money that Congress doesn't give him. We've been operating under CR's.
I'm still waiting on someone to vote for his budget - Someone - Anyone ???
The spending spree happened during the Obama/Pelosi/Reed empire. Remember the shallacking in 2010? You guys had 2 years to put the Republicans to the back of the bus to quote our great leader (the Great Unifier)
Working One: Who needs a budget when you have no plans to repay your debtors? I'm waiting for our credit rate to fall to Greece's. Another 4 years of Obama and we'll be like them.
What actual spending bills? He couldn't even get a second stimulus through.
Wm.-375815;...So this means you didn't get the memo that they are now the ;'obama tax cuts' since HE signed off on them instead of allowing them to expire as they should have.........They were dumb as the 'Bush tax cuts',and incredibly stupid as the 'Obama tax cuts.'........then there's always the pandering;'Payroll tax cuts'...designed to pay less into social security..when it needs funding desperately......so who's trying to kill social security????........U.S,Army Disabled Veteran
Why are there trolls all of the sudden worried about what Obama has spent.
Fact, he has spend a fraction of what Republicon administration(s) have, and what he has spent was to fix all the frivolous spending from the previous administration(s).
Last surplus was by a Democrat administration.
I, and other real Americans, know and see through the BS Flip-Flop is blowing out.
Well JW, they are STILL the Bush Tax Cuts. The ONLY reason Obama extended them is because the GOP wouldn't extend unemployment benefits without the extension. They were VERY willing to harm those out of work just so they could get another round of tax breaks. Which mostly benefit the wealthy!
President Bush spent money we didn't have. When he left office, the bills had not been paid for Iraq, Afghanistan, Medicaid "Donut Hole", Housing melt down, No Child Left Behind and other mandates. His vice president famously said "Deficits Don't Matter". Now, all of a sudden, every Republican has woken from their slumber to scream "Deficits DO MATTER!! OMG lower the deficit, lower the deficit!!!!".
Are the reports true of Mitts buss driving around the Obama Camp honking the horn?
Obama spent the first half of his speech trying to convince people not to vote for Romney. According to Obama, Romney will not be able to cut taxes AND lower the national debt. And the President spent the second half of his speech oversimplifying the national debt trying to teach all of us stupid citizens the real way to reduce the debt. Sorry Mr President, the 5 trillion you added over 3 and a half years kind of causes you to lose a little credibility in my book. You speak eloquently, but the problem is, no one believes you any more...
WRONG! Obama is right, you can't balance the budget or lower the national debt without increasing taxes whether you repuknics want to grasp that reality or not! President Obama has more credibility on the economy and leadership skills that "mittens" will never have.
Chuckiepoo, you can raise taxes all you want but when only 50% of the population pays taxes due to soaring poverty you have no tax base! Municipalities are dying because home appraisals have halved in the last 4 years, people are not working or are underemployed, and median incomes are dropped. You can only tax the top 1% so much. The rich cannot fund this government alone.
Chuck - 357997 - but that's not what Mitt is telling them.
Isn't it unbelievable that anyone older than 10 would listen to a word Mitt has to say (lie about)? First he can't put a sentence together and he won't talk to anyone who has a question. Yep! That's leadership for ya!
Obama/Biden 2012
Mitt's at a disadvantage. I don't think he relies on teleprompters like our empty suit orator Hollywood elite POTUS.
All the freakin Republicon Trolls are out in full force talking about what Obama said in his speech(es)!
Tell me something, how is it that you never talk about what Flip-Flop-Etch-A-Sketch doesn't say (except Obama is out of touch, doesn't know how to lead, can't fix the economy, etc)?
How's about it Flip-Flop tells us what we really want to hear then?
You know what? You can't because you have nothing else better to offer than what GWB had before the leader we have now!
Trolls, also saying America can see right through Obama. Well, at least he is transparent about how to fix things, and a do nothing Congress that won't help. I can tell you that America can see that. And AMERICANS are tired of it, trolls.
Name calling. About all the libs are able to do nowadays. Obama "evolves", he doesn't flip flop.
Jwill - Actually he laid out exactly what Romney proposed to do and said if you like that Idea for Romney. He was pretty darn honest and upfront about it..
You'd have to be a moron to vote for Romney... I'm just amazing anyone would even consider it..
Wow, you called me a troll three times, you must really think of me as one! Guess what, wanna know something funny? Obama hasn't fixed anything. I don't care how transparent he is. We have FEWER jobs than when he took office, and we have a HELL of a lot more debt. We spent away our kids and grandkids' future....for what?! NOTHING. Get your head out of the sand. He doesn't know how to lead a country, let alone, lead one out of a crisis! He needs to go back to the community organizing gig.
Lloydiepoo
What you don't realize is that you are paying a higher percentage tax rate than your beloved 1%, regardless of who is contributing, right now Uncle Sam, influenced by Grover, and certain TP Republicons are taking a bigger chunk out of your a$$, you dope.
Don - I agree, and I thought the President did a great job of spelling out the opposing view points. Obama - If you want a president who cuts taxes, and thinks the best way to create job growth is by shrinking the federal government thus putting more money in the private sector encouraging spending, investing, allowing more creativity and innovation thereby sustaining growth..vote for Romney ...As opposed to my plan, which is to keep on doing what we're doing! ....umm... Thanks for making my decision that much clearer Mr President.
Crover Norquist is destroying America. Crover already said he wanted to drown this country in a bathtub. He hates America.
Can Romney explain the logic of how you pay off an exploding debt by CUTTING taxes? Call me crazy, but it seems like that would be the opposite of responsible economic management.
Just keep on believing your nonsense, being in the Fox news bubble and being a faithful Foxbot is noble indeed.
Oh and don't tell me you don't watch Fox news.
Thanks for making my decision that much clearer Mr President.
Like your decision wasn't already made up, you only fool the fools who think like you, or should I say told to think like you, you have been assimilated into the right wing world of Bull@!$%#.
John. Nice generalization, but I don't have cable. And as evidenced by my posts on this site, MSNBC is my source for news. And yes, my decision was made up but now it is clearer than ever. What are you trying to argue? I'm trying to have a good debate with you here but I'm not sure what argument your trying to make. lol.
Stupid Lloyd - Mitt uses a teleprompter at EVERY speech! He'll be toast during the debates unless he writes on his hands - you know - like Palin!
Romney's plan is more of the same Bush like policies. As someone mentioned earlier here you can't have tax cuts and expect to cut the deficit, unless you plan on gutting programs for the poor and seniors.
Romney is a toad stool for the rich, Richy sat Romney do, Richy say Romney do.
I wish more people could see what a scheming POS Romney is.
Time for me to punch out, even though it's on a computer, that is one thing I guarantee Romney ever had to do. PUNCH OUT.
One last thing the headline on the onion is pretty hilarious the headline reads
"Romney spends most of Factory visit yelling at Employees to work harder" The picture has a caption:
" Romney reportedly went down the line chastising each and every employee for shoddy work"
I love the Onion.
Guys, you need to memorize the following: Tax evasion is 20 years, tax avoidance is a legitimate game.
Anyone with sense enough to pound sand into a hole does NOT want to pay any more in taxes than he/she/it has to. If you want to pay more taxes, by all means, go right ahead. I worked hard for my money and I'm going to keep as much of it as I LEGALLY can. Please note, demotrolls, I said LEGALLY.
Bob,
What I am hearing Bob is that you would like to hide behind current tax laws to pay as less as you possibly can? Is that right, Bob? No one works as hard as you, huh?
Well good for you...you should be so proud. Republicon troll.
lol, that is actually funny. I love the onion too.
Alright, so you don't like Romney because he is rich. Gotchya. I gotta say though, your arguments are lacking a lot of depth. You mind telling me specifically HOW Bush's and Romney's economic policies are the same? Just curious. Also, not to be rude, but you have to lack a lot of common sense to hear nothing but bad news over the last 3 and a half years regarding the economy and say "yeah, I want more of that..." Or "Yep, still Bush's fault" Or whatever you saying to justify it. By the way, side note, we didn't enter into a recession until late in the final year of Bush's presidency. For all of the constant blaming of Bush we hear everyday.. you would think someone would note that 7 out of 8 years under Bush were not bad economically speaking, it was when he approved a bailout that he never should have (that OBAMA voted for) that we got into trouble. But anyway, I digress...
Lloyd,
I call it as I see it...if you are glutton for punishment by posting on this thread then be ready for it.
jwill1,
Maybe you should digress since Bush realized that he needed to put a band-aid (or initiate one) for all of his shortcomings that nearly lead to disaster for our country.
The bailout was needed, the stimulus worked. Fact.
You know what? Swithching gears. I am starting to realize is that if this President was white he certainly would not be taking this amount of flack (and I am a white guy). Every other post is some white Republicon troll that is simply baseless, and factless, and I am willing to bet $10,000 its true! Right, Willard Etch-A-Sketch?
Aaannnd here comes the race card. Why do I even waste my time with you guys. You are so predictable. I can't tell you the last time I had a debate with a liberal on politics when they didn't use Bush, Bush, Bush.. and then when I catch them on that they go immediately to the race card. It is like an automatic reaction. I promise you. The ONLY reason why Obama even has a remote chance at reelection is because he is black. We owe it to black people to vote for Obama since our ancestors were mean to their ancestors...Same reason we have BET, black history month, and blah blah blah. How's that for playing the race card. So he is black. I don't care if he is black, white, green or orange, his a terrible president. Period.
Yet Republicans seem determined to shield the wealthiest Americans from making even the slightest additional sacrifice to help address the nation's deficit. They scoff at the mere mention of the word "fairness." The current impasse over student loans reflects the GOP's intransigence on this subject: With student loan rates set to double this summer, Senate Republicans are steadfastly opposed to a Democratic proposal to cap them because it would be paid with higher payroll taxes on the wealthy and on some privately owned corporations.
Jwill1,
Trrrroooollll, then the truth really hurts since you responded to it, huh? I gotcha, son! Gotcha....XD
You know what, he was voted, as POTUS, because he was most qualified by the majority of the people of the US, and if not corrupted by silly voter purging by Republicons he will be in office again to continue the fine job he is doing.
Not because he was black, you non-chess-playing bigot. Checkmate.
Wishful thinking. You obviously haven't been looking at recent poll numbers. Thankfully, according to the polls, most people in this country know how to think for themselves and use common sense. That really is all it takes.
Romney is Bush. Cut taxes for the "job creators"(who created zero net new jobs under W. Bush), cut all regulations on business no matter how reasonable and necessary (tried that and it led to the Crash of '07 and the subsequent depression.) That is the GOP "plan", that's it. The same failed policies that are whispered in Romney's ear by the same slithering advisers who whispered in W. Bush's ear have all been tried before and they failed miserably. Romney was foolish enough to hire all of W. Bush's economic advisers and foreign policy advisers in total. Not one different adviser at all! Romney is Bush. If you liked Bush and his policies then you will love Romney and all the same failed policies. Bush and Romney have the very same blue-blood pedigree, same education, same experience as governor and the same years as a corporate raider in Big Business, same failed policies pushed by the same failed policy advisers. Romney is Bush. If you long for war and you liked the Crash of '07 then by all means vote for Romney. The recovery is under way and, frankly, the private sector is somehow able to "convince" people that they are not fine in spite of the fact that they are sitting on $4trillion in record profits. Amazing that when the GOP was in the White House under Bush the Nation was losing jobs every month. Yet the job growth under President Obama is too slow? This job growth totaling 4.3 million net new jobs in the private sector alone is spite of the GOP's concerted official policy to stymy the Nation's recovery and the GOP controlled House has cut all infrastructure spending and the GOP governors have been laying-off public sector workers in droves. For ever 4.3 million jobs created the GOP destroyed 3 million public sector jobs. The GOP strategy has been to take the Nation backwards whetthe they are in the White House or not. The GOP is the ONLY political party that has as its official policy to thwart the Nation's recovery! Sad and shameful that the GOP blames President Obama for a slow recovery when they and their failed policies delivered the Nation the Crash f '07 and the Second Great Depression.
jwill1
Well, see, poll numbers in June 5 months to the election means...umm...less that squat, not only because of the amount of time to the election, but the margin of errors to every single poll, also.
bahrrt, All the name calling only makes you look small.
Trollaphobia will make your brain got soft
I;m still horrified by what republicans have done to his nation. Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2 had a lot ot do with all the problems we are seeing today.
Free market unregualted capitalism will just introduce a new feudal system based on money and only money>. The haves and the have nots.. that won't be a pleasant society to live in.
BOTTOM LINE FACT
Whe our government is polluted by money, when all decisions areonly made in regards to its ability to bring in more moneny we will have a failing society
Roads can't be fixed, high speed rails won't be built, and transitions to cleaner energies will be pushed aside etc.. etc.. etc.. because of the costs.
What is best for society and humanity is not what is best for money... Something that is complete lost on some of you.
Like I said.. would rather fight a civil war then to roll over and let far rihgt wing mind set destroy everything
sad part is I'm not happy with Obama either, but.. I will never ever vote republican, I jst do not see much of anything coming from them that will benefit humanity and society
Just by mentioning Reagan's name in the first two sentences you proved how little you know about how the country should be run and, to be honest, it renders the rest of what you said worthless. Republicans AND Democrats overwhelmingly rate Reagan as one of the best Presidents. Ever. lol.
Well, USMC201, small I'm not, all 300lbs makes that so. And, I am not offending you. But, if you push my buttons I could start? Just depends on what you say.
And, yes, Republicons are trolls since they've gone too far right and hell bent on destroy our country, and if you are one of em, you're a troll, too. Sorry if you are thin-skinned about it.
So, call it Trollaphobia, it is a label just like Republicons have labels for us. That distinguishes us and them.
I would like to ask the Republicans how many jobs did Romney create as governor? Or just give me how many he created at Bain Capital?
Just in case you ask me how many has President Obama created 4,267,000! This is in just over 3 1/2 years. Just think if he had help from the Republicans!!
I am still waiting....
You don't want the truth so why bother. but for the record, Bain salvaged failing companies from shutting down. Not all companies are salvagable (those are the only ones Oblamo will talk about) but he saved thousands of jobs.
And destroyed thousands of jobs, because it was easier to pilfer the company's assets than declare bankruptcy and walk away with a tidy profit. Yep that's the business Romney was in make obscene amounts of money for little or no actual WORK Romney's title at Bain was middle class trimmer.
He was very good at his job.
The numbers for Bush's last three months. Between October and November 2008, 597,000 jobs were lost; between November and December 2008, 681,000 were lost; and between December 2008 and January 2009, 741,000 were lost.
DJIA Dec 1, 2008 = 8149
DJIA May 19, 2012 = 12651
BTW:
Dec 29, 2008 U.S. corporate earnings probably fell for a sixth-straight quarter, the longest streak in at least 20 years, as consumer spending on automobiles, homes and retailers collapsed.
Man, sounds like Willard is just as much a dick today as he was in his gay-bashing high school days.
Celebrating Father’s Day early, O'blamo had lunch with two service members and two local barbers at Kenny’s BBQ on Capitol Hill.
As the group chatted about fatherhood, the president enjoyed a steaming plate of pork ribs with hot sauce, collard greens, red beans and rice and cornbread.
The bill for the president and his four guests was $55.58, but was left unpaid at the point of sale, according to pool reports.
- I guess he fugured they should just add the 55.58 to the other 5 Trillion he's lost!
Sally here got a chain e-mail..
And then thought it was a good idea to "share" the fiction...
And yes,.. this is why you get laughed at..
Working One - see when you post lies like that you look even more pathetic than usual -and no one thought that was possible!
Actually its on the ABCNews is the one reporting it - SeekingSanity, See the link below for clarification.
abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/06/white-house-forgets-to-pay-fathers-day-lunch-tab/
Maybe you should check the facts before you accuse someone of lying - it makes you look pathetic.
And Romney doesn't know the word "doughnut", and he doesn't have the courtesy to visit the kitchen first to thank the chefs and servers. Now enough silliness.
Can we talk about actual policy issues now?
Working One - it is a lie. The White House had already settled the tab when idiot posted it. You just ARE pathetic!
When Obama speaks he offers hope for America not "Make Obama A One Term President" Romney is stuck head first into the blame game but offers nothing of what he would do as (God forbid) president. The entire republican party is lockstep in line to defeat Obama by whatever means it takes regardless of how they are tearing our country apart to do it.. Just a hint of partisanship by republicans would go a long way toward bringing our country back from near depression. No! but hell no! is their battlecry, line in the sand position on everything that comes befor them just to make Pres. Obama look bad. Sounds treasonous to me. Makes this independant want to throw up every time I see or hear a Republican speak.
Hope for America - Seems we heard that before somewhere?
If O'Blamo is reelected there may not be any Hope for America - We may have to ask Greese to Bail us Out!
Working one - If you are so concerned about the future why aren't you asking the GOP congress to take up and pass Simpson/Boyles and send that to the Senate.
Now that would be legislation that would actually solve the problems and the GOP could easily force Obama's hand...
Remember it's congress that passes laws..and they start in the house...
Don-2316123,
I agree with you, although I could argue that the budget proposed by Ryan is pretty close to the compromise solution in Simpson/Bowles. Look at the reception it got in the Senate...
Congress should first pass Obama's Budget - Or maybe just One person to vote for it!
Don - Would you vote for the Obama Budget?
Armurray:
There's light years of difference between Simpson/Boyles and the Ryan plan. One plan is actually a compromise between both parties and the other (Ryan plan) is the dismantling of America.
I can't believe you would even attempt to argue the Ryan plan is close to Simpson/Boyles. WTF
While there are many, many problems with the Ryan plan, one of the biggies is that it leaves spending cuts completely open. The House would be allowed to cut spending from absolutely any program or area it chose to, without debate or voting.
That kind of power given to the Congress is terrifying, especially when it's reasonable to assume that the cuts would be from middle class services, rather than military spending. It would probably be the "right wing social engineering" as Newt Gingrich called it.
Dan, your posting is very salient as it makes one see the state of the union like it must have been in 1861, the battle lines are drawn once again, how ever ideological, the South is rising again and we know how the South votes predominantly! Regressives were treasonus then and they're treasonus now. They would rather see the country "torn asunder" than see that "black man in the White House" for another term.
Just an observation-
When Obama was promoting the National Health Plan, he brought in experts, and doctors and nurses, and health insurance executives and patient-advocate groups, and ...on and on and on.... to ask them for their insight and opinion on what needed to be done to bend the health care cost downward. While I suspect that was more for show than anything else, he was exposed to differing opinions that ostensibly were used in formulating Obamacare.
But look at the economic stimulus plan. No grand Whitehouse round tables" reflecting the broad spectrum of opinion have been held, or at least not broadcast on media outlets like CNN, CSpan, etc. Perhaps it is because the experts brought in to the health care program reflected what Obama already had determined was the best path for America. Perhaps the myriad of folks with expertise and those that are just impacted by the current economy might often differ with the President's best plan.
Why don't we have visible and open dialogue about what alternatives to the stimulating the economy exist. Are the choices simply that cut and dry. I suspect, rather it is the fact that competing ideas may win over Obamaideas. Just a thought.
Tom the mystified,
Great observation.
While Obama did include some stakeholders in his discussions regarding healthcare, he left out several others. When all was said and done, he discounted everyone who disagreed with him.
For all of his later ideas, he discounts everyone's input - even Bill Clinton's...
Not true. A lot of Republican ideas were incorporated into the law, including the individual mandate (which was, of course, Romney's idea).
http://drugsandotherthings.wordpress.com/2012/03/27/the-individual-mandate-in-healthcare-it-was-a-republican-idea-shhh/
http://www.rrstar.com/insight/x760602242/Chuck-Sweeny-ObamaCare-is-a-GOP-idea-that-s-now-GOP-target
Clinton (and Obama) both supported a single-payer option. The President didn't "discount" Clinton's idea, he simply didn't have the votes to pass it.
Armmurry - The Health Care plan WAS the GOP plan. You do remember it was written by the Heritage Foundation, endorsed first by Bob Dolye and later by New Gingrich.
When you dust off the GOP plan, invite stakeholders into the disscussion and adopt over 90 provisions put forth by the GOP from THEIR original plan.....I think you've gone pretty darn far....
If it was the Democratic plan it would have been a single payer/medicare looking plan.
The idea he discounts everyone's imput is total BS....exactly what input did he discount from the GOP.. Remember, it was THEIR plan...taken from Mitt Romeny's Mass plan...what GOP ideas didn't it have in it, or did Romney just discount GOP ideas as well in his plan...
What you are saying is plain silly...
The initial stimulus was passed 2-14-09, barely 3 weeks in Obama's term. The Congress had been working on it for 6 weeks. The Titanic was going down fast, the markets needed reassurance. The actual spending was reduced and the tax cut portion increased to get 1 or 2 GOP votes necessary to pass it. Obamacare was done differently to avoid the attacks that occurred on Hillarycare. Rather than write the bill from the White House, Obama really thought it would be more open to have it written in the committees. What he didn't account for was that Sen. Max Baucus couldn't get anything done on time which delayed everything, and then Kennedy died. Remember the Harry and Louise ad campaign against Hillarycare? Obama wanted to avoid that. (That was a $20 million ad campaign in 1993 which I would estimate is $32 million in today's dollars - that's quite a lot for one issue.)
My sense is that Obama parades stakeholders in front of the American public via television for political advantage; not for the ideas that they may bring to the table.
Obama is simply a media-exploiting President. What seems to be true is that he thinks he already has the right idea and only has to convince the other stakeholders of his brilliance. He really seems to have disdain for any alternative views that do not match his own.
Just my opinion of course and also the basis for my upcoming vote in November.
I love how Romney I wonder why? Oh lets look at the founder of the Book of Mormon...
Joseph Fielding Smith: "That negro race, for instance, have been placed under restrictions because of their attitude in the world of spirits, few will doubt. It cannot be looked upon as just that they should be deprived of the power of the Priesthood without it being a punishment for some act, or acts, performed before they were born." (The Way to Perfection, p. 43).
how cheap? $10,000?
The Hope and Change with Obama has went down the toliet.
Think what this country will be like if he gets another four-years.
Dobi - What's more scary is what the country would look like if he DOESNT get another 4 years.
Maybe it's missing on you congress hasn't done one thing in the past two years to help the economy, but it's not lost on me. The only meaningful help came in the first two years, mainly the stimulus, but since then...nothing... The lack of any meaningful action by congress quite noticable. And I don't fault Obama for that....no, the GOP has made no attempt to do anything to create jobs. I just looked at all the bills they tout as jobs bills. It's pathedic... You can't be that stupid dobi..
Thank God Congress has done nothing. The only thing the DNC does is spend more money and pander to Union thugs.
Not to mention that the GOP rips off the taxpayer to transfer wealth to the wealthy and pander to the uber rich right-wingers that hate the American people who aren't uber rich like themselves. The GOP uber rich don't love you, so you might want to stop kissing their ass.
Lloyd,
Better to pander to Union "thugs" than the fat cats on WS and RNC, who BTW, tends to spend more than Dems. Fact.
Lloyd,
You should write bumper stickers.
dls Who is ripping off taxpayers. Solyndra comes to mind and now Sebelius is going to spend $20 million telling everyone via a pr campaign about how great obamacare is. What a waste of our money on something that may be declared unconstitutional by months end. Would you consider that ripping of us taxpayers.
So Romney thinks talk is cheap.... Maybe that's why he can't seem to tell the truth, it isn't worth much, and boy does he love money, his..
But I'll go with it...I'll look at his record as Governor of Mass....how'd he do...47th out of 50 in job creation, and he's touting he's a job creator...OK, he's fired.
Oh, he says he inherited a bad economy so don't count the first year. OK, so did Obama..and within 6 months Obama stopped the slide and was created jobs. Talks cheap, deeds ...so I'll take Obama.
Romney wants to give another $5 trillion dollar tax cut, mainly to the wealthy.. and to pay for it, cut programs to the middle class....so he wants to funnel more money to the wealthy in hopes they create jobs. Well, I'm tired of that song and dance.. And he has no plan to reduce the deficit..
So, Romney you're right for once, talk is cheap.. but we are not stupid. You offer nothing....and that's before I take into consideration you never tell the truth.
Remember this:
"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a Sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. ...Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that 'the buck stops here'. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and Grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."
SENATOR BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA, MARCH 2006
Talk about cheap talk..........................yes you are stupid, you voted for him the first time.
The debt limit has been raised by the other side, too, troll! You hypocritical, self-righteous, troll. Telling us we're stupid?
We will certainly remember this, GCCal. The kinds of Americans, like yourself, don't deserve better.
GCCAL : And I agree with everything he said in 2006. The difference is the state of the economy in 2006 and NOW...I'm sure you are smart enough to know the difference, ah, maybe not...
He was against the war in Iraq (and he was right), and he wanted government to address it's spending, mainly NOT paying for anything. And in 2006 the economy, at least on the surface looked to be on good footing, the right time to do that stuff.
Now come 2009 when he takes office, a different story...the economy has collapsed, nothing like it since the great depression... In a situation like that you don't worry about the deficit, you worry about fixing the economy.
Remember, Obama included the costs of the wars in his budget, the GOP didn't... And everything he's proposed, like the jobs plan, he's come up with a pay for. He didn't do what the GOP is famous for, doing something, then not paying for it, and then blaming the other party when the SH%t hits the fan.
Obama is one of the brighest presidents we've had, something lost on a person that probably barely made it through high school.
If Romney ever gets into the White House, we've at last put the fox in the henhouse! He's going to make GW Bush look like the rankest kind of amateur as he proceeds to move American jobs off shore to 3rd World countries and allows the top 1%ers to further increase their wealth as the rest of the country crumbles into depression!
And you know this because of what crystal ball?
The Romney lead ball.
ohhhhh.....RBtatt and dls.....more D.S. (D as in donkey instead of bull)
Eh, I don't think Willard could be as awful as Bush was. Romney would be more of a caretaker sort of President, quietly waiting out his one term before being replaced. Kind of what Bush might have been, if 9/11 had not given him and his handlers a reason to conduct extreme right wing experiments and start wars.
This election is a choice between two visions for the future of America: One vision is for continuation of the progressive vision of a balance between equality and freedom as the moral foundation of justice, and a more recent conservative vision of an entitlement due the wealthy and the equivalence of corporations to the rights and protections of natural persons under the Constitution.
A progressive future is one in which government is a custodian of the public trust and advocates for justice; where justice is a balance between equality and freedom. Government as a custodian of the public trust means that everyone plays by the same rules and that everyone is equal before the law. Public trust means the rights of the people to preserve and protect the common property of the United States is not severable to the interests of privatization. Public trust means that a corporation has no rights except those given to it by law and does not have equal standing with a natural born person under the Constitution.
The conservative future is one of a hostile corporate takeover with privatization of government functions. The corporate takeover means that having wealth is an effective barrier to others participating in the process of government. It means that government would no longer serve the interests of the community but collaborate with the wealthy corporate owners to establish a separate set of laws that entitle them to preferential treatment while creating barriers to competition by eliminating opportunities for others.
The tale of two visions is the difference between a government of the people, by the people and for the people, and a government run by a plutocracy of corporate power.
Maybe you should change your name to Rachel or Ed or Crhis or ...........
dls...Here, here, well said! GCCal lame response. History does indeed repeat itself. As written in Jon Meacham's book, "American Lion", President Andrew jackson had to contend with the same corporate plutocracy's attempts to control the government through the use of their collective wealth. Government is the only counter-balance to the power of the wealthy. That is why the GOP hates the government and uses lies to "divide and conquer".
"I will cut the deficit in half by the end of my first term" FY 2008 Deficit: $459 billion; FY 2012 Deficit: $1,327 billion.
Kannin: That statement was made while campaigning in early 2008, and BEFORE the finanical collapse..
Just a small fact, but quite important, unless you knew in early 2008 the economy was going to collapse. Had Obama inherited the same economy as Bush, he would have made good on that campaign promise...but he inherited an economy in much worse shape than anyone could have considered.
Don - If he was truly oblivious to all the things he now blames for his failures, then he was totally incompetent. If he was aware of that supposed state of the economy, then he was lying.
Or, perhaps, the situation then just wasn't nearly as bad as the one he eventually created.
Talk is cheap indeed! All Obama can do is just make cheap finger-pointing speeches. Even if Obama had "inherited" a bad economy, he has been incapable of making it better. In fact, he has made it much worse. Romney has demonstrated that he can take an organization that has been mismanaged to the point of bankruptcy by ordinary managers, and make it prosperous once again. His success rate has been nothing short of miraculous, and Romney is who we need to turn this country around.
You don't call a emergency room physician who resusitates a dying patient a failure; President Obama resusitated a dying capitalist system and now the patient is in recovery. A lot different than the conservatives who would have pulled the plug and waited to see if the dying patient would recover on his own.
How dare you talk about the issues. You must not like black people because you are not supporting Obama.
DLS, this patient is dying, trust me. Read the news. There is no recovery.
dls - An "emergency room physician" who stupidly gives a patient a drug that makes his condition far worse is absolutely a failure!
Since you obviously watched the President speak, what specifically did you disagree with? He quoted an awful lot of non-partisan economic experts to make his case against Romney's proposals. Is it the sources he cites that you dispute? I also watched Romney's speech, and that seemed to be nothing but blaming Obama, without offering any real insight into what a President Willard would do.
Clotho - President Hussein's speech didn't say a lot, so there was little to specifically disagree with, but one statement in particular stood out: "What's holding us back is a stalemate in Washington between two fundamentally different views of which direction America should take." I disagree with that and feel it is just one more example of President Hussein trying to blame his opposition for his own failures.
Kannin,
Stop watchin Fox, boy, its fryin you what little pea brain you've got.
How much time you think he needs to undo the BS the other bastard had in office, and fat cats on WS contributed to, as well!
Are you in a drive through at McD's or somethin? Have it your way now? Please...you've been brainwashed by the far right.
Moderate Republicons, like Bushes, and Regans would even be considered Republicons today.
Hell, even Jed said recently that he wouldn't stand a chance, and probably why he won't run VP with Etch-A-Sketch! I don't blame him!
Kannin: We were shedding 800K jobs a month when he got into office, and in six months of taking office he turned that around...and I think we've had 27 straight months of job creation. How is that making the economy worse?
And if Romney's so good, why didn't Mass lead in job creation during his term as governor.. Big difference as a CEO and a Governor, one has unlimited power, the other has to work with others who have differing views...
He didn't run for a second term because he'd done such a bad job in the government sector he would not have been elected.. That' lost on you?
Don't bother asking Kannin for measurements that illustrate better/worse, because the conservative web sites he plagiarizes do not give specifics, just talking points. As you pointed out, job creation has been up for several months. The stock market has increased from a low in the 8000's to over 12k - how is that worse. Average CEO pay is at an all time high of $10M - how is that worse. Corporate profits are at all time highs - how is that worse. Corporations are holding $2+T in cash - how is that worse?
Why even those evil GOP/TP issues such as government spending and debt increases are lower under Obama than under Bush - how is that worse?
What the Kannin's of the world are waking up to is what Democrats have been focused on for the last several years - the wealthy are getting massively wealthier, and nothing is trickling down. Wealth is not trickling down, jobs are not being created, middle-class assets are not appreciating. And that is because the GOP/TP in Congress are intentionally holding back any bills that would help the economy.

OK Red - Which of the following have gotten better under Obama and cite a source (since you would never just state an unsupported generality):
Unemployment, under employment, misery index, housing starts, foreclosures, inflation, GDP, debt, deficit, gas prices, oil prices, food stamp usage, food prices, labor participation rates, real unemployment, youth unemployment.
Kannin,
Talk about giving the patient the wrong drugs, Romney's prescription is to return the economy to the same failed policies of the last 3 republican presidents, trickle down has never worked and the Chicago School of Economics where all these republican advisors studied has been discredited around the world. The only thing the Freidmanite doctrine has produced is a richer upper class and the impoverishment of the working and middle classes, and that is in every country it has been implemented in. One thing about the republicans, they never learn from their failures.
Steve - When did Romney say he was going to "return the economy to the same failed policies of the last 3 republican presidents" Or are you just mindlessly repeating some left wing mantra that you overheard?
Kannin, he says it all the time, tax cuts for the rich, deregulate the financial industries, let them gamble with the public's money without oversight. Right now Bank of America has 55 trillion dollars of its worthless home mortgage derivatives insured by the FDIC. Switched them over from their non insured Merrill Lynch accounts last October. Put austerity measures in place, lay off those teachers, fire fighters, cops, government service workers, continue the cycle of unemployment that the Ryan budget would continue, and viola! 55 trillion switched over to the federal deficit. Kannin, you need to go back to school and learn a thing or two, of course you're a republican, you enjoy voting dumb.
How is a talking head eloquent? Obama's speeches have never inspired me, even on a visceral level. It's obvious he's being told what to say and doesn't understand what he is saying. He is just the front man.
Now I understand that Romney can be dull, looks like he ought to be wearing an ascot, and has a son named Tag. Nonetheless, after three and half years of this half wit, what do we have to lose by electing Romney?
Everything we haven't lost already.
You're in the minority. Did you watch both Romney and Obama speak? The difference in audience reaction was immediate and startling. Romney just is not a likable, charismatic born leader; Obama is. Regardless of political philosophy, President Obama has a natural ability to inspire and encourage, while Romney comes across as one of your dad's buddies who you don't quite trust.
Romney's audience barely made any noise. The only applause came from the predictable, idiotic talking points, like the pipeline he promised to "go out and build [himself] if necessary". Obama's audience was so enthusiastic throughout, chanting and cheering and generally optimistic. Part of it, of course, was that Romney's crowd was a lot smaller. And older.
So you guys are saying we need more charisma instead of more results? I think I need to move somewhere else, like maybe California where the kookaid they drink actually tastes good. I have yet to see a time when results didn't count, except now, of course. If the big 0 had produced real, lasting results, we would be well out of the recession, GDP would be headed up, and the Fed would be looking for ways to curb inflation instead of searching an empty toy box for something else to try.
Charisma ain't all it's cracked up to be, folks. 0 promised he would have it under control in 4 years or he shouldn't get any more chances. Let's give him his wish in November.
Jeff, I suppose GWB inspired you more? Wow! XD LMAO
How about your pension fund, retirement, your home, your benefits....essentially, your a$$.
It shouldn't be all about Democrats or Republicans!
It should be about doing the right thing for our country and the majority of its citizens. I consider myself an independent voter, but going back to the Reagan days and with the only exception having been Perot, I’ve always voted Republican. But all this single-minded, left versus right, ideological one dimensional bull has got to go! This is the problem with our country. It shouldn't be about Democrats or Republicans! It should be about Americans, especially our elected officials, doing the right thing for our country and its citizens.
Both parties have sold out the bulk of the American citizens, who they're supposed to represent, by allowing the "out-sourcing" floodgates to open wider and wider without taking any sensible measures to stem the tide. (Under Clinton jobs to China, Under Bush I & II influx of illegals or cheap easily abused labor into the US and jobs to Mexico/NAFTA) Our leaders are elected by the Citizens of the United States of America to represent the interests of those citizens and the country itself. They are NOT elected by the Global Market Place or foreign citizens!
We need whoever wins the next election to Start Protecting American Jobs and do whatever it takes to bring back the jobs they let go. They've got to give us somebody who will stand up for the American people.
We need to bring manufacturing back to the United States of America and both parties are ignoring tariffs as a way to level the playing field, raise money and bring jobs back home. Let's guess why. Oh that's right, tariff is a dirty word. Hum, maybe it’s that our so called leaders (political leaders) are beholden to the same people who are exporting our jobs.
I guess we should keep letting Corp Boards, Wall Street, CEOs and Foreign Lobbyists promote sending US jobs to countries where they work for slave wages, no benefits, no OSHA safety standards or no real environment regulations. How's that been working for us?
The so called “Global Market Place” is not a level playing field. Companies may have made higher profits by "out sourcing", but they've been putting middle class Americans who are a good part of the world’s customer base out of work. I’m not a lefty or member of any union. I run a business that employs over 20 people and produces products that are purchased by customers that do manufacturing and packaging. I’m just an average Joe, but I've been saying this for more than 10 years now. If I can see it, so can our so called leaders (political leaders) who are beholden to the same people who are exporting our jobs.
We need to add tariffs that are proportionate to the inequities in wages and regulations in the country where the goods were produced and or where we’re importing them from. We could then use the money raised by these tariffs to help companies build state of the art manufacturing plants here in the USA, which would create more jobs here at home for US citizens, which would then in turn increase our income tax revenue.
The people with all of the excuses as to why we can’t or aren’t willing to manufacture products here in the US are the same people who have provided us with the thinking that’s gotten us into this mess in the first place.
Over the past 15-20 years, I've seen too many of our customer's close manufacturing plants here in the USA and move those plants to different countries, decimating entire areas here in OUR COUNTRY. And I'm not alone. Returning jobs to American Citizens will provide income tax revenue to OUR Government versus our government having to pay unemployment benefits to those who would be jobless instead.
Bringing manufacturing back to the US not only gives jobs to the US citizens who would be working in those manufacturing facilities, but to the people that would be working in the businesses that would spring up all around them. This should also include the safe harvesting, production and distribution of our own natural energy here in the USA, rather than paying for fuel from countries where they hate us. Let’s keep that money and those jobs here in the US.
These so-called “free trade agreements” have to go. It was obvious when they were passing these agreements as to what was going to happen and sure enough it did. Our leaders had to have known this as well when they were passing these bills. It’s just common sense. We also need to bring customer support services back to the United States of America and staff them with employees who are US Citizens.
The “Global Market Place” is not a level playing field! The whole idea of the tariffs is so we can pay our factory workers a decent wage and not be blown out by these other countries where they don’t play by the same rules.
We may have to pay a bit more for products made here in the USA by US citizens, but at least we'll still have jobs and a future for our children.
The bottom line is that “Our Government” has to protect American industry and the jobs that those industries provide. If they do that, the rest will take care of itself.
All this single-minded, left versus right, ideological one dimensional bull has got to go!
This is the problem with our country.
It shouldn't be about Democrats or Republicans!
It should be about Americans, especially our elected officials, doing the right thing for our country and its citizens.
It doesn’t matter who fixes it – Just Fix It.
Romney overlooked the fact that free speech is free. His talk isn't cheap, just meaningless.
Read my post 18.1 .....his speech was cheap and meaningless or maybe he was just lieing or maybe he just said it to run down the then President Bush. By the way, the quote is fact as found by snopes.com
"... just meaning." Meaningless? Yep, sure was. Mr. Romney's ... speech? ... speech had nothing to do with what he will do. It was like he was trying out a new makeup artist's touch ... or something? His ramblings surely couldn't have been for serious presidential aspirations. Right?
Obama's rhetoric won him the election the first time.
He just may lose it the second time because he is useless.
He may lose it the second time? He will lose it the second time. Last time around most reasonable people looked at McCain and said he was past the ability to contribute at that level so they gave a darkhorse with a hand full of nouthing and a mouth full of promises a chance.
Now he's not a darkhorse. We know exactly who and what Barack Obama is. He still has a hand full of nothing but this time we all know he has a mouth full of @!$%#.
