Obama calls Commerce Secretary Bryson

President Obama spoke with Commerce Secretary John Bryson on Tuesday for the first time since Bryson was involved in multiple car accidents in California this past Saturday.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters that Obama called Bryson to offer his encouragement after the cabinet official suffered from some size of seizure that contributed to the accidents.

In the short conversation, the president encouraged Bryson to, "focus his thoughts on his own health, on his own family."  This comes after the commerce secretary informed the White House last night that he would be taking a medical leave of absence from his position.

There is currently no timetable for the secretary’s return to his post and, in his absence, Deputy Secretary Dr. Rebecca Blank will act as the secretary of commerce.

Hi Feisty,

I agree with you. This is what Karl Rove sent on a twit as soon as the news of his accident went public:

"How does @CommerceSec have 3 car crashes in 5
minutes and alcohol NOT be involved? ?#Skills," the tweet, sent out early Monday
read."

Karl Rove does not waste any time for the opportunity to smear anybody that is not at the service of the GOP.

I saw that tweet from Rove's despicable bunch. They later apologized, but you know what? Too little, too late. The way that accident was described, you had to assume it was a medical issue.

It must have been awfully frightening for Secretary Bryson, his family, and those involved in the accidents.

Best wishes for a good recovery.

Wasn't it the Republicans who coined the term "compassionate conservatives?" There was some compassion from Karl Rove. Must be wonderful to live in his perfect world.

Here's the nice "apology" from American Crossroads:

"Earlier Bryson tweet with hashtag #skills attempted levity (before facts known) and failed miserably. We took it down and regret the tweet."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/11/american-crossroads-apologizes-john-bryson-tweet_n_1586647.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

Let's see.....Attempted levity - check. Before facts known - check. Failed miserably - check.

I KNEW they were behind half the lame posts around here lately.....

Okay, in all seriousness, let's hope this is something treatable. I'm sitting here waiting for a call from a neurologist about my Mom as we speak. Scary times, and I needed a quick diversion. Hope things go better for Secretary Bryson.

Oh, wait, never mind. American cars are for the little people. Like paying taxes.

Mark Murray - just caught you on the TEVE at the Gym. So, uh, where is the list of all the documents that Obama has withheld?

Alll we all want is full disclosure - taxes, transcripts, medical records.

Holder's kinda having a bad day too.

Shoot gang, if we took a poll who's having a worse day - Bryson, Holder or O?

Oh and Obamacare has about 6-7 days left. And then of course the ruling upholding the Arizona immigration bill will come down.

Damn, I am almost starting to feel sorry for poor O.

So Steeler - is that enough empathy for you? You got your time sheets in for the day?

$300 per hour = $2400 per day = $48,000 per month, or $500k plus per year.

Man, Steeler, you sure can buy a lot of empathy for that, eh?

… and so Romney’s pandering love affair with the conservative right takes the ugly shape we have come to fondly know today …

“Former governor Mitt Romney’s administration in 2006 blocked publication of a state antibullying guide for Massachusetts public schools because officials objected to use of the terms “bisexual’’ and “transgender’’ in passages about protecting certain students from harassment, according to state records and interviews with current and former state officials.

The question of Romney’s sensitivity to antigay bullying was raised anew recently after the Washington Post published an account of Romney’s days in prep school in 1965 when Romney allegedly held a fellow student down against his will and, along with classmates and to the cheers of others, forcibly cut off his long, bleached-blond hair. The student was gay, although not openly, and it was unclear to some whether Romney knew the boy’s sexual orientation at the time. “

… Wayward Willard goes on to claim he had no memory of that incident. Really? Where there others and that one got lost in the crowd?

The kind of seizure that has been described may be something relatively minor- easily controlled by medication- or indicative of a serious, underlying problem.

Obama promised to cut the deficit in half . . .

The U.S. government posted a budget deficit of $125 billion in May, more than twice the level registered in the same month last year.

So far this fiscal year, the budget deficit stands at $844.5 billion, narrower than at the same time a year ago.

Under the government's accounting system, October is the opening month of fiscal 2012. During fiscal 2011 which ended Sept. 30, the budget deficit totaled $1.296 trillion.

      Read more: #ixzz1xbyYsBSr

Maybe he was trying to say that he promised to double the deficit - he's not very good with numbers - but, dont worry, I'm sure he is "fine" with the deficit!

President Barack Obama is rapidly losing support among African-American voters in North Carolina, a new poll out today from the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling shows.

The poll finds that Mitt Romney would get 20 percent of the African-American vote if the election were held today, compared with 76 percent for Obama. Overall, Romney has a 48 percent to 46 percent lead on Obama in the crucial swing state.

Obama received 95 percent of the support from African-Americans in North Carolina in the 2008 election, compared with just 5 percent for Republican nominee John McCain.

        1. You're driving a car and have a seizure that "contributes" to an accident.
        2. You then go on and drive and have a second accident.
By now I think any sane person would stop driving the car. Not this guy though. He continues.
        3. He has a third accident.
Yes, this is clearly a person that should be the secretary of commerce. He's got very good judgement.
